Disappointed with the layout and content. This is an okay app but I just didn't enjoy reading. Although they state there is content just for this app I think there is just as much info for free from their website. I still find myself buying the paper at times and it is a much better experience than navigating through this app. If it improves to be more like a real newspaper experience I'll have a look. USA today is a much better experience and I like it's layout much better.

Only OK. I live in the US and was hoping for a good newspaper app from home. This is not a good app. It's slow and lay out is terrible and not user friendly. Not worth the money! Just like Australia it's way to expensive!

Poor effort!!!. I received an email asking me to rejoin as you were sorry to see me go a few months ago so i rejoined and nothing has changed!! Most expensive subscription and the app still has not been updated since may! Get your act together !!

Not what I thought. I thought this was the UK version of the Telegraph. It's not, it the Aussie version. Ok newspaper but just wasted $6. Not happy that this isn't clear on the page.

Logs you out & doesn’t recognise your subscription. This app logs you out every week or two and then doesn’t recognise your subscription. Even though I have a current & valid subscription that I signed up for on the Daily Telegraph web site, this app only offers me the choice of restoring my subscription (which ALWAYS fails) or signing up for a trial subscription which will become (yet another) paid subscription after 30 days. This is simply not good enough.

Doesn't even deserve one star. Was looking forward to this app - unfortunately it under delivers. Too many ads. Harvey Norman must have got a very cheap offer to be on every page! Difficult to navigate. If I go to another app and then return it does not remember where I was. Old articles stay up on the site - imagine buying a newspaper and find two day old articles up on it. Not updated throughout the day. Should be free for 6 months while they get it right

A worthy iPad application - Thank you!. I am in desperate need for a great newspaper application and I think The Daily Telegraph have done a great job with this app. It's easy to navigate around and not bloated with media! I want something that is quick to download the latest information and not take up too much space on the iPad. The articles are a good size and the feel is like reading the news paper. I don't mind the ads in the app cause you would have had them in the normal newspaper, so thank you Daily Telegraph for a worthy app and one I hope that you continue to tweak for the better.

Better then the Real Thing. This is great..I was a bit hesitant to buy due to the not so flattering ratings. Now that I have it, I wouldn't be without! There is no excessive advertising- the videos work quickly and without glitch on my iPad (16gb 3G) and saves the waste of a usual paper, essentially helping out the environment. Overall its easy to use- practical- and enjoyable to have 'delivered' to your ipad when you wake up, to enjoy in the peace of your own home with a cup of coffee!

Can’t read full page. The app used to be great on my iPad . To read the paper there was a symbol in the top right corner so you could see the whole page on your screen. Now you have a bar at the top and the bottom of the screen so you can’t read the bottom of the pages without pinching the screen.

Customer service hung up on me. I called to let DT know they had cancelled mu subscription despite an active fully paid for subscription. The guy i spoke to simply offered me a new subscription 3 times and then hung up on me when I tried to explain again that I already had paid for the month in advance and why would I pay again. Just hung up on me instead of trying to find out why my subscription was cancelled. Thanks Craig

Very dissapointed that I wasted my money on this app. I was eagerly awaiting the release of this app, but was very dissapointed to have wasted my money on this very poor application. For starters the Daily Telegraph online delivers far more content than their $7.99 app does. I compared their app with both their website and the print version and found the app to be lacking signifiant content. Their paid app should offer everything that their free online website does and that of their print version as well. The annoying full page ad pop up's were the icing on the cake for me. Double thumbs down for me. Waste of money in my opinion.

Poor customer experience. Definitely a major step backwards in customer experience. The new version is clunky, difficult to navigate and poorly designed. Perhaps the best thing is that you can view it as if you are reading the actual paper. Since the “downgrade” I have had to reboot my iPad twice to get the days edition and today cannot download it as I keep getting a message that an update is available. When you select the update the App Store shows nothing available since the 31/10 update. The paper is available on my iPhone but I don’t use it for this purpose. Not happy at all.

Shocking terrible no support. I have using the Daily Telegraph app for quite a while BUT TODAY IM CANCELING THE SUBSCRIPTION. There is no app support offered other than an FAQ that does NOT answer or solve any problems. On my previous iPad I could download the latest issue wherever I was, but on the new iPad and on my iPhone it will not let download anything unless I’m on WIFI. The help screen says to allow download on mobile data. I have this turned on in the app settings as well as the general mobile data screen nothing works. Have deleted and re-installed the software, reset the iPad but still the same. If the The Daily Telegraph can’t offer support for their app what use are they. Another issue is with having to sign in every time I try download the latest paper. Why can’t these guys get their act together. Very disappointed customer.

Awesome app. I love this app Start it up and get news highlights, set your favourite news stories you want, Sport, business. Download today’s paper and lift outs, I especially like how you press on the article or story and it appears in a pop up that’s easier to read, and the best part is you can be offline and still read the paper you download. Another cool feature is the clippings option, awesome for when you find those crazy news you want to keep. Worth getting if you have a subscription.

Get rid of the ads !!. I hate the ads that pop up before the stories, I have paid for news not to be force fed advertising !!! The small ads don't impact on the read too much, if they HAVE to have ads, stick to those. A light read, providing top line news, I would like more than they have given us, so why buy this when the website provides similar info ? More iPad exclusives needed..........

Hate this App. This app is not initiative.

Just terrible. I’ve already complained about this new telegraph , but it’s just terrible , there’s so much on here that’s days old , and if I want to look at it through safari you have to continually log in , and I still am not getting the same amount of reading I got before the hopeless new app came out , I will be going to another paper when my subscription runs out , there’s just no value for money here , you should be able to open the app and read the paper like before

Every update Results in a Downgraded App. How is it possible that the developers are creating a worse experience each time they upgrade this app? Not only do many of the images disappear but the navigation has become clunky and the availability of the new issue is never reliable. This morning it is is 6:20AM and the Sunday edition is still unable to be downloaded. The print edition arrived minutes ago on my doorstep. 2022? Pathetic

Love the app, hate the useless racing pages. Please add a feature to remove all the horse racing pages prior to download of paper. This will save time and data cash for people who are not interested in horse racing. In the old analogue days it was so easy to discard the racing pages, please do the same with the digital version. TA

Total rubbish. This app is totally unintuitive and full of bugs. The only way to read the paper is to download the digital version of the printed edition. Edit: Now the app is even worse. Downloading the digital edition in the original newspaper format doesn't work. Once the WiFi is out of range, the paper disappears. Did Newscorp actually pay someone to develop this app ? Edit: Good to see that this app is still rubbish months after my intial comment. Are there any adults in charge? Does anyone in Newscorp even bother reading these reviews?

Rubbish. What were they thinking with this latest update?? The app has only ever been average but now it’s hopeless. Try opening the crossword! It opens in a tiny window and is almost impossible to type answers for anyone with normal sized fingers and the last “across” clues get hidden behind a stupid bar that tells you how many letters in that answer. I can count, so can figure out by the amount of boxes for that clue how many letters in the answer. Fix this ridiculous update or my subscription gets cancelled.

Generally good...but..... In one of the latest updates, there is a new option under Settings "Change Reader Settings" which allows setting "Auto-hide Reader Navigation Bar" but when setting this it is fine for this session however after closing the app (iPad or iPhone) it unsets itself and requires setting again when the app is opened. I have gone to News Ltd Customer Support (supposedly technical support) and they gave me the standard response (clear cache and data, make sure using latest iOS, delete and reinstall app blah blah blah). Of course none of this made any iota of difference. Now as app developers you may find this interesting , they actually said that I should be using web browser not the app. I tried to get them to understand that apps are used for a reason and this was just a small tweak of coding.

Dreadful. This is an incredibly disappointing app. The quality of the writing in articles is terrible (as if all done by inexperienced juniors), they keep repeating the same stories day after day after day, and the navigation is fussy. The ads and pop-up ads are really irritating especially considering you're paying a fee to access the news information. Simple things that you find on other news sites like dictionary tools are not available. There's just no reason in the world that I would renew the subscription. Very sorry about it, because I was disappointed that the Sydney morning Herald charged such a high fee for their new subscriptions, but at least they provide professional content for the cost, which sadly, The Telegraph doesn't.

Stop trying to improve. Go back to what worked well! Constant problems with the current ap. The page no longer fits the screen on an iPad. Too easy now to bump into reading just the one item, when all you want to do is enlarge parts of the whole page. If you hit the return to the page arrow you go right back to the front page, and then have to scroll through to get back to where you were. “My Local” section……. Greystanes is NOT IN PARRAMATTA!, it is in Cumberland. Not Blacktown, nor anywhere else in Sydney, it is in Cumberland! This whole section is useless having if you can’t get it right. Scrap the last update and go back to what it was!!!

Mr frustrated. Had this app since it started and have kept renewing in the hope it would improve. It is no replacement for the paper but would be ideal for the main stories however the pop up advertising predominantly the same Harvey Norman advert over and over and over and over again are annoying. Put simply I am happy to pay for online news but not annoying pop ups that are every 3 pages and totally repetitive. Why not just stick to the adverts on the top , side or bottom of page as a normal paper would have. I may actually read one. I it also contains repetitive advert to their fantasy coaching thing which is of no interest whatsoever but I have to bypass it at lease 3 times a day as well. To top it off when you try to close some adverts the open further. Hopeless.

So much better than the previous versions. I find this new app much better. The paper used to crash frequently. Now, it appears much faster and more stable. Well done! However, I have just upgraded to an iphone8. I find that I am unable to download Today’s Paper using Mobile Data. I can on the iPad but not on the iPhone. Not a big deal but, now that I have a very generous data allowance, I can now download the paper on the run even if I am not connected to WiFi.

Very dissatisfied. For some reason my iPad only got the latest update two days ago and suddenly the most useful feature for me has disappeared. Every day I use the “Clippings” function of “Today’s Paper” to print out the bottom half of the puzzles page so that I can complete the Jumble, Cryptic Crossword, Sudoku and Target Master. Now all I can do is print the whole page onto A4 but it only prints out a 6x4 image so it is so small you can barely read it yet alone write on it. Not at all happy.

Crosswords. Why can’t we access the daily crosswords. The rubbish ones provided are just that rubbish

Hopeless. Why does News Ltd insist on having different APPs for its different mastheads? I’m a very dedicated News Ltd customer of print and TV. In my view the Daily Telegraph APP is hopeless compared to The Australian in key areas of layout and logic, the comments logic in the Tele doesn’t allow you to read comments by any sort of filter (so you’re forced to read unfiltered piffle). Also, some of the content in the Tele APP is weeks old. Why is that? If it’s dated beyond a week it shouldn’t be there. My suggestion? Bin the Tele APP and use the same version of that for The Oz. Problem solved (and you’d probably save $$$).

Pages take forever to load. Had the app for years. The past month or so it takes sometimes a minute to load the next page when reading in newspaper format. I’ve deleted and downloaded the app twice now with no success.

Graphic designers need training on how to output digital newspaper. Since late 2022 the digital version of the newspaper accessed through the app has had large black boxes appearing over images, text, headings. The graphics department are either untrained or lazy in preparing the digital version in such a shoddy fashion. If this was done with the old-fashioned paper version the publisher would be up in arms and people would face mandatory retraining, but the digital version does not have the same quality control.

Not too bad. Had a few issues at the start with crashes but their support was excellent and problem rectified. Don't like the full page adds popping up every few pages and you also lose part of the screen with another add. I would pay a little more to get rid of the adds - suggest a higher subscription version for no adds and leave existing for those that don't mind and want something cheaper. Could do with tweak here and there but the app does the job. Have now signed up for the 6 month subscription.

Rubbish. Don't waste you're money! Does not include print articles is very slow and constantly opens full page pop ups before you can open articles, says it can't download or open pages as there is no Internet connection when there is. Will not be renewing subscription, Get you're act together before you charge people for an app that is clearly not ready. Do not waste your time, money and data download on this shocking app.

Fix it up!. Currently downloading this app for the fifth time. I've had to delete it four times already. The first time I use it is okay but then in subsequent days I click to see the paper and it starts opening and then just stops and closes itself. Driving me absolutely bonkas, particularly as I'm a subscriber. When I can get the app to actually open I like it a lot. Please please sort this out. I don't have this problem with any other paper or app.

Terrible App that keeps crashing. App just shouts down for no reason. Has been happening intermittently for years. The most annoying thing is if you download the paper in an area with bad connectivity, if you lose the connectivity, the paper disappears and you have to download it again. It seems you have got be connected to the internet to be able to read the paper for some reason, if it’s has already been downloaded. Please fix this.

OK App But Has a Limitation. I read several papers on iPad and all but one allow a full page landscape view. The Daily Telegraph app doesn’t and iPad doesn’t easily facilitate portrait viewing unless one has a special cover. The landscape view on the DT is a two page view, too small to read easily and, therefore, inconvenient.

Why are updates worse than before. Why do pages take so long to load or don’t load and the app then crashes ? Why can’t we read previously downloaded editions when we are offline , like we used to be able to do ? If you employ someone to do an update of your app and it becomes worse would you pay them ? Maybe take a look at your rating 1.4 out of 5 , the ABC is 3.8 out of 5. Not getting renewed..

Abysmal interface which freezes often and isn't maintained. It promises much, allowing direct connection from article to Facebook and offline reading. Instead it freezes often. Won't often refresh when switched off. Needs a connection to defrost. Freezes when interfacing with Facebook. Because it is so heavily badges, turning white on black to read in low light becomes useless. No one responds to complaints. The freezing has become worse recently.

Can’t skip pages. I’ve been using this app for years. New version won’t let you skip ahead pages. Bring back old version with button on top right that brought up the view pages tab. Current version you have to pinch the screen to bring up this option then when you scroll the pages to get where you want to go it disappears. Very frustrating

Fix Fix Fix. What happened to this apps? It crashes crashes crashes.....I am seriously thinking not renewing as even the articles are repeated or badly written. Does anyone proof read the outlines or is it just that "outlines" come on please give us a bit of quality reading.....fix the constant crashes.

Search has Gone. Why on earth did you take away the search function in the app!! Very disappointing, and what could the reason be?? Bring it back, please. Also, if I made a comment there is no link to that comment- you just have to save the article and scroll away until hopefully it is found. Why not have a ‘my comments’ section?

Maybe a nice app. I was excited to think I would be receiving the full print version of the Telegraph but no crossword, racing form etc etc. Instead I got news thats cost me $7.99 and adverts that take over the screen I can get all the current news for free via radio and internet and advert free. So I think the Telegraph should have waited till it was going to be a true and proper newspaper like the printed version I wont be renewing my sub I will be just content to buy the print version from my local newsagent

Only good thing is we can now do the crossword.. I purchased a six month subscription, but when the full, scanned newspaper app came out I assumed that would be included in my subscription. Sadly not, so I bought ANOTHER six month subscription to the SAME newspaper because the full paper is much superior to this clunky, add laden app. I do LOVE doing the cryptic crossword so with the recent update which allows me to do the stickler with this iPad version I was pretty happy. But I will NOT be renewing my subscription to this version when it expires, interactive crossword or not. The other full version of the paper, just like the real, tangible copy is much, much better as I feel I am getting the whole newspaper. With this app, I feel like I can just read the same stuff on the free website.

Please fix this app. This telegraph app is a waste of money since they tried to revamp it. What a joke. They have removed a lot of menus in the news, sport, entertainment etc and only give you limited reading now. You should have just left it the way it was before you made it worse, as it was at least bearable then. Some of the stories also have computer programming language in it and you can't even read the story due to this. Also the same stories stay on the app for ages, can't you update daily. Is this not what you do on your printed version by having new stories daily otherwise it would not sell. Fix it please and I will be the first to sign up again for a subscription. Signed up 3 times now hoping it would be fixed but no just wasted my money, but suppose thats all you need isn't it, get the money and not fix things Not happy. Nowra. Nsw

Frequent drop outs. For the past 2 weeks I've been plagued by frequent login failures. Each time the only way to overcome the problem has been to remove the app from my iPad and download again. This is occurring every couple of days and is a real nuisance which makes the app pretty much useless. Prior to two weeks ago all was fine.....

Daily Telegraph, make it hard. They clearly make is hard to cancel the subscription - you can't do it online, you have to call then. go through all their menu system then get quizzed by someone on why you want to cancel. This is immoral these days and there is no excuse not to provide on-line cancellation.

Chris J. I have written two previous negative reviews of this app & i’m pleased say that the developer has done a fantastic job at fixing all of the issues. The interface is now very similar to the apple news app with a news feed that you can customise to your location. Well worth a subscription.

Disappointed. I couldn't be more disappointed. The app had great promise but doesn't deliver. The SMH app is a hundred times better with tons more content. I will not be renewing my monthly subscription. My main complaint is that each day's download contains many of the same stories that have previously appeared in earlier downloads. It is very tiring to search for stories to find that there are not many new articles... The same old articles seem to hang around for days on end. Secondly, the stories seem to be very short. There appears to be a low limit on the amount of text that the app can provide. I enjoyed sitting down with the print version and a coffee but this app is an absolute waste of time and money. Somebody please fix it!

Annoying. If you want people to read the electronic version, you can not have a column go across two pages, this makes it impossible to read. Also when playing sudoku, when you check and have made a mistake, still waiting for that number to change to red, showing which one is wrong, like it used to.

Stupid App. Despite continuing to debit my credit card to pay my current subscription, the app, once again, won’t load the paper unless I take out a subscription !!! There has been so much trouble with this dinosaur of an app that I’m looking forward to cancelling my account on Monday. That’s another no-no … having to phone to cancel … any modern system allows you to cancel om-line or through the app. Perhaps it will be easier to put a stop order on the credit card. It’s a bit late now, but this app development should be removed from the hands of amateur novices and given to someone properly trained and experienced.

My mistake. Sorry I was under the impression I was buying the full daily Telegraph but was disappointed not to receive any race guide or race results and other material that was in the usual edition, instead every time I shifted from page to page I got a full page add. Very disappointed I would of been willing to pay a little more for the full version. I have had this app. For a week now and I'm giving the Telegraph about two more weeks to get there act together, if not good bye bye, I definitely won't be resubscribing.

Very poor. The app has slowly gotten worse over the years. Unless you are connected the internet the newspaper drop out even though you have downloaded the paper. I live in an area where I need to walk to a location for cellular connection. I download both the telegraph and the SMH. When I walk back to my home I can only read the SMHas the Daily Telegraph has a message no internet connection. Simply not good enough

Change is not always for the better.. I’m afraid I’m one of the frustrated users of the new app and I much preferred the old version. The new one is difficult to navigate, I can’t get previous copies of the paper and the print is far too small, even though I have gone to settings and adjusted the size of font. Who cares if the newspaper is exactly as it appears on the actual paper, the old version was much better and you could read/find what you wanted without any frustration. Many thanks for your reply which I had already received a few months ago. My previous problem is now all fixed. Ta

Craig. A step backwards, I download the Telegraph before I go to work and then while I'm reading at work and it drops out and says I need Internet connection. photographs are not nearly as clear as the old version, text is sometimes blurry and won't focus, especially the comics. When it drops out at work I have to use hotspot on my phone to download it again which cost me mobile data, this never happened with the old version. For a quality newspaper like the daily Telegraph to have such a bad app is just not acceptable, i've been reading the Telegraph for 30 years and unless this is fixed I will have to go elsewhere
