What would we do without Surfline!. I have loved Surfline since Sean Collins started it back in the early 80s, I’m guessing? They could go out 2 to 3 weeks and predict right to the hour when a swell would arrive making it easy to make my schedule as an RN and beach lifeguard so that I was able surf great wave on my days off. It’s still the gold standard and I love that the live cams allow you to go anywhere that the waves are great and watch a beautiful world class surfbreak with the WebCams. They keep it fresh with wonderful stories and big wave footage every day. The weekly surf movies have been a blast. Worth every penny. Aloha 🍍 Mark Agnello

Excellent App- well Built. I’ve had an iPhone since 2007 when they first came out. I even cracked the phone and loaded my own applications before applications were a thing. I probably have at least 100 apps on my phone. This app always seems to function properly, never has issues, and because the developers update it seldomly, it is very reliable. The latest version has taken me some time to get used to. As I was an early adopter to the original versions. However, this is probably my favorite and most used app. To all those involved in creating such a great experience, I say thank you. Keep up the good work.

Great app!. What an amazing app! As a young grom I used to check Surfline on the web all the time (back in the days of dialup and flip phones) and it never steered me wrong. now that I’m back in the water after nearly two decades as a landlubber, I can’t believe how much the quality and abundance of data, human analysis, spots represented, and the number and resolution of live cams has grown and improved. Sometimes a few of my favorite cams and ideal conditions for certain spots won’t load, but overall the app is addicting to check out even if I’m stuck at work, and the forecasts are super accurate for the days I’m not, over a week in advance. I can’t speak to the quality of the free version since I know and trust Surfline and went premium off the bat, but it seems beyond worth the annual fee considering how much effort and expense goes into compiling this data and implementing the tech to keep it available wherever my phone has service. I’d recommend reading up on the basics of forecasting from compiled buoy data to take full advantage of the wealth of information the app provides. Not every spot gets it’s own pro analysis from their staff, but chances are your favorite spot (or one nearby) is.

Useful Every Day… Many Times a Day… In Many Ways. Certainly very helpful for travelers getting oriented on unknown breaks… The data for me helps to dial in local breaks… Sometimes the long range forecasts can be inaccurate so i wouldn’t plan a trip around that info but when you surf one area regularly the near term forecasts are very accurate most of the time… Buoy data is also very helpful once you get figure out what minimum swells, periods, and directions will do for your break… If you have that understanding down… then you will know before the sun comes up exactly what the ocean is doing and can head out predawn with confidence in conditions and the right equipment… I love the rewind option on spots with cams… With dawn patrol app on the apple watch you get videos of all of your rides edited and waiting for you in your sessions section of the app… That feature alone is worth the price of a years subscription in one day as a photographer would cost as much or more for a session and you would have to wait days for the results… The last thing i love about the cams is that you can put on cams from across the globe and enjoy the views on the best waves happening on the planet… The content is also fun to read… it goes on and on… if you surf then the app is a great enhancer to the experience… Amazing app TY!!!

Love this app. Ok, first, As stated, I love this app. I don’t mind paying the price of a coffee monthly to be able to go online and see sunrises and sunsets. I love being able to project onto my living room tv as I listen to the sounds of surf. I wish I lived on the beach but this app, yes with its surf reports I don’t use much, is delightful. I wish more cameras were available, but it’s not like there aren’t plenty. If I can’t be at the each, this app still gives me some of the enjoyment of being there. Now my pet peeve. Nothing big, just interferes with my Zen on a morning because it repeatedly asks “are you still there”. Seems fairly frequent relative to what I recall. Did something change?

New version is design over function. Reviewing the latest version, which prioritizes a pretty design over user needs. Surfline used to provide a way to check all the different spots, buoys, wind, and tides to get an idea of where I wanted to surf and when. With the latest update all the visuals have been turned into singular simplified icons of what’s going on right now, which is helpful if i want to surf now…but you can just look at the cam for “now” conditions. 90% of the utility was being able to synthesize the visuals of tide, swell, and wind over the next few hours and know what conditions it would lead to at your spots. That stuff is all fragmented around different parts of the app now and all that utility is gone for me. It’s painful and a lot of effort to get the information I used to get in a few seconds with a quick glance at my spots.

USED TO BE GREAT. I always loved this app before the most recent update. This app still has all the reports on it that’s necessary, but now it’s written for computer geeks and nerds. Why; because they made all the fonts small for all the computer geeks to read it. I’m an old guy and many of us old surfers have poor vision now and the app has everything written so small that I can barely make out the wind, waves, and swell heights. On top of that; they made the favorites list tiny fonts also for kids and computer nerds to read it. One good thing was they added in Live View the wind, waves, and tide forecasts. I get it, every few months or years they have to upgrade their look, but now the app dashboard looks like every other terribly small app.

Developers are lying. I am reading through some of the recent developer responses to unhappy ratings and most of the time the developers say something like, “non-paying users still have unlimited access and the ability to view hundreds of free cams…” I have the app and from what I have seen this is a lie (maybe with a small amount of truth). Sure, you might have access to hundreds of free cams… hundreds of cams no surfer would use. I doubt any well known surf spot is free to view. As for the “unlimited access” that may be a flat out lie. I do not know what they mean by that because the app is extremely limited; only showing data from the day of viewing. Super disappointed. I suggest surfers download the app “Magicseaweed”. Unfortunately it too requires payment for webcams, however the app does provide a complete 6 day forecast (which is what I personally need in a surf app).

Great app. I like how it now lets you go to the next saved spot in order. (Before you used to have to scroll all the way back and forth to find the next one in the list). I wish they would fix Doheny state beaches camera. It now shows the river mouth instead of the main beach. It’s also great how you can zoom in as well. The “sessions” feature is cool too, but it could use some tweaking so that it only “records” when you actually catch a wave, instead of every wave out there, so you don’t have to delete most of them. If that is even possible. It’s not the end of the world if it can’t be done.

Good for non-surfers too!. I don’t surf but I’m fascinated by it (maybe someday!) and I like learning about the water and the wind and all the variables that make for good surfing. I also like to correlate that info by seeing the actual waves that are described by the data. However, 15 seconds of a picture telling me to upgrade to premium for 30 seconds of webcam viewing (where most of the webcams are already hosted by third parties and available for free elsewhere) seems excessive to me and does not exude that surfer friendly attitude one might expect. This could be a nice outreach vehicle for young and/or new surfers who want to get in the water a little more educated than they would be otherwise. The heavy handed push to premium is a drag though. Allowing uninterrupted web cam viewing (not even the HD - just regular cams) would encourage people to stay on the website longer, learn more and realize their need for premium. Just a thought - thanks!!

False Advertising. I’ve used Surfline for the past couple years on and off, good app to check in. As a casual surfer I have never really had the need to pay for premium full time. Was planning on going this weekend and wanted to give the premium a trial as it’s about time to start surfing again. So I gave their “7 day FREE trial” a go. Not only does it charge you immediately, it also only gives you the month of which you pay for (not a month and 7 days). This is clearly false advertising that they hope you don’t notice. It may have been worth upgrading, but that isn’t the issue. It’s a clear effort to make you “accidentally” upgrade to premium. I definitely wasn’t ready to pay for that and I put a “service ticket” to hopefully get my money back, but I doubt that will ever happen if they are as clearly already doing some shady stuff with trying to make money off their users.

Official App for kooks. I’ve been a long time user of this app when I first started learning but never realized how much people hated on it. I can’t tell you how many times people have asked me what app I use to see the forecast and I tell them “Surfline,” while getting a disgusted looking face in return. Everyone I’ve talked to exclaims about how notorious this app is for having poor and inaccurate reports all the time (probably almost 20 people by now). I always relied on the surf cams for my spots I go to and had no issues watching a 15-30 second ad to see what the waves were doing that day. But now I have to pay $9.99 a month for features that used to be free? Seriously? I can’t even see a full report for the day and forecast for the oncoming days now anymore. You kooks can kiss it

At least the cams are useful.... I have a real love/hate relationship with this app. The app functions very well, is easy to navigate, and the surf cams are very useful if there’s one at your local spot. That’s where the good stuff ends. The forecasts are nearly useless. Half of the time they’re wildly off-base for the next day, let alone the week to come. I’ve wasted many sick days on the promise of head-high waves with “good” conditions, only to find myself pumping my legs off in knee-high slop. Even worse, the reports are mostly inaccurate. It’s almost like they’re not looking at the same spot. The cams are the sole reason that I use the app (and the sole reason for two stars instead of one), and I pay for premium because they’re nearly unusable without it. Surfline used to be a valuable tool, but it has become a major source of aggravation.

Surf Checks=thumbs down. First of all this app is amazing, i love everything about it besides a couple of the new features. I love how the app gives me tides, wave height, forcast, water temp it has everything. The free account treated me well until they added a feature only allowing you to view info 3 times and then you have to wait 2 days for another 3 surf checks. I use this app everyday considering it is the summer time and also the fact that i am a lifeguard at my beach. so the surf check feature, kinda ruins the app for me. if they were to maybe make it so some info is block and can only be seen when you purchase the subscription, it would make the app so much better, instead of the surf check feature.

Go to site for surf report. I have been a Surfline subscriber since the beginning and have taken advantage of the all the services you have to offer. The stories are well done and keep me reading after a surf check. My biggest issue is sometimes the forecasts are sometimes overly optimistic and draw too many surfers to my local break even when it’s not that good. I may be giving Surfline too much credit for drawing too many surfers to my local spot but it’s always crowded and especially so when the “fair to good” rating shows up. Maybe you can provide some surf etiquette lessons for all the beginners that are entering the water these days. Surfer Sal

we’ve all benefitted from Surfline. The new checks feature may not be everyone’s favorite, but it’s still free. If you’ve used the free version for years, it’s maybe a bummer in some ways now, but it wasn’t like Surfline stole money from you. A lot of people are quick to say nasty things, but Surfline has given everyone I know who surfs valuable information. They’re not always accurate, but neither is any other forecasting service. I love being able to see the tides, winds,& direction of swell so many days out. I’ve saved a lot of time and energy by being able to glance at cams. I’ve known what days were worth waking up early. Recommend doing some of your own research and buoy data gathering as well so that Surfline can help make decisions for you, and not be your sole source of information. It seems like a lot of discontent arises from people who expect Surfline to be a perfect crystal ball. That’s just not realistic. No one or model can do that yet. Isn’t Netflix about 100$ a year too? Isn’t surfing better than Netflix ?

Greatful!. I am truly greatful for one of if not thee best surf forecast worldwide your entire staff at Surfline provides. With all the technological resources that are available today, in my opinion, your team manages to provide the most accurate as well as thorough reports and the best coverage of beach cams on any given website all in one. When I am planning to take a trip to various surf destinations, the information and forecast that you guys provide is absolutely more than adequate. I really do appreciate all the hard work every single one of you do everyday so that the entire surf community can benefit. Keep up the awesome job! Mahalo!!!

App works poorly on iPad, missing key forecast tools. One of my biggest complaints about the app is that it doesn’t work well on an iPad at all. Doesn’t support landscape mode except for cam feeds. You can’t search for spots without adding them to favorites, which is annoying when I’m looking at places I don’t frequent but just want to check, unless you go to the map view. But when I’m looking at spots in California or Florida from New England, I don’t necessary want to scroll on a map. Probably the most salient missing feature is the nearshore model tool, though. Living in New England, where a lot of spots are missing from the site, nearshore is often the only way I can get a sense of what individual spots will be like, and I have to use a browser or computer for that. The interface is useful for quick checks, but for those of us who are often on the go and rarely at a computer, those key tools are sorely missed.

SURFLINE FIX THIS BUG. So I love Surfline, the only reason I gave it three stars is due to a bug that I keep coming across, the application itself is amazing when it comes to depicting swell and weather, their team is great!. How ever when I try to access the explore page to see which spots are good around me, it will not show the spots or cams on the tab at the bottom for the page, it will only show the option “view regional forecast” which won’t even work either. I would have to restart surfline to get the explore page working accordingly. I have ignored this problem over the past couple months ultimately think it was going to get fixed soon but I’m still having trouble with it to this day so I made the effort to reach out and see if anyone else was having this same problem or it has been noticed by the community ! Please let me know if it’s just me !

You can’t go wrong. As a premium subscriber for as long as I can remember, this company has saved me a bunch in gas money as well as heartache when a swell never materializes as forecast - which happens. I love the articles, swell breakdowns, stories and features. And I’m 100% sure I’m not even using all the features available. I have learned a lot about swells, how they form, watching weather, looking for swell fetch, direction, which swells work best at my favorite spots and super interesting things like bathymetry and swell shadowing. Whether it’s incoming swells or the why’s of this and that, these guys are the best and definitely keep you informed. If you surf frequently (or use the ocean in any way), this service is worth every cent. 💯

Loved it until recent update. I had no problem with watching a 30 second ad before live streaming from any location; that is the “price” to be paid for not purchasing premium. I’ve gotten into the habit of frequently checking both local live cams and other interesting locations throughout the day. With the recent update, you can only open the app two or three times a day, but once you exceed that, there is no way to access information for any location beyond wave height and quality (poor, good, etc.). I’ve deleted the app, as I see no use in this extremely limited access, and no reason to buy premium because of the already-poor coverage for my location, and the fact that I do not travel enough to need unlimited access. First-world problem, I know, just sharing my feelings on account of this sudden change.

Premium :/. No doubt surfline is an absolute great surf app. it has everything and tells everything very clearly. A while ago they had it where if you didn’t have premium you could only check the waves three times a week. That’s ok i could deal with that. But now, after a recent update, they added premium cams, which means you must buy premium in order to look at them. Mind you these premium cams take up half the cams and all my favorite beaches. Still, no biggie though, right? I don’t really need cams. however you do need a forecast. Without premium you aren’t able to see what the tide will be doing, what the wind will be doing, or what the swell will be doing. the only thing you get is the size of the waves the next day. I don’t know, i guess it is a wonderful app, just now you kind of need to buy premium in order to get it. And i’m sure i’m not the only one who can afford that.

Don’t listen to the complainers, Surfline’s great.. Like many surfers, I am a bit of a weather nerd. I keep a close eye on the best wind & weather info I can get, and Surfline is often more accurate than those sources….. I’m talking about hourly wind switches here. If you’re one of the people that expects a perfect wave and weather forecast, then you don’t understand what a forecast is. Maybe Mom and Dad are still driving you to the beach, and you expect perfect sessions to be served to you on a platter, like your private chef’s chicken tendies (which are actually just processed frozen crap anyway). That’s fine, but in the adult world we know there are no guarantees- only well educated guesses. And that even a great deal always involves some legwork. Surfline is a great deal- if you don’t like the forecasts, than I challenge you to do better. Plus, cams. Duh. The only way Surfline could not be worth the monthly $12 (or whatever it is now), is if you are a broke jobless beach bum who can check the surf 24/7. If so, congrats to you sir. For the rest of us, this is a lifesaver. Special shout-out to forecaster Richie Reyes, who looks like he had his profile pic taken while his hair was still wet.

Love the app but have one issue. When looking at the app or more specifically a surf spot. The video lags every second making it very annoying to work around. Additionally, not only when looking at any surf spots but the lag is also occurring in the rewind. Nevertheless, I tried to managed through this issue hoping it was gonna be fixed because of a bug issue or something. However, it’s been almost a month now and I am still having this problem. I don’t if it was just me. So, to make a long story short. I was just hoping you guys now have at least have an idea of what’s going on via issues in the camera/app. Otherwise, I have been a subscriber for a long time and will continue to be one until the day I die. So in other words, I have nothing bad to say. Love the app and everything you guys do. Just have this one issue that happen just recently. ✌️

UI and many cameras need work…. IPAD: Many of the cameras, have a problem with, pixelation, or contrast, like when a big wave breaks, it stops, then turns quite pixelated, then cleaned up. White, or foam, as the waves break (high contrast) seems to have an effect on the serial data, but then you miss best part of waves. second problem is watching in landscape, you keep having to turn to portrait to select the 20min range of time of day, then back to landscape…..i do know a sneaky way to look at entire day, but hard to make it work…why don’t you guys cache the cameras better, or something. Also after 4 or 5 days you can’t see the place that may having been breaking huge, because of of disk space or server BW, or whatever, we premium members can no longer see it…why can’t you make the data available for a month…, i bet you still have it!!! .etc…sorry you asked…

Life Well Lived. From the days of dial up when PK gave us the local surf report the world of wave prediction has evolved along a technological path of perfection. Maybe it’s that embedded spirit that surfing imparts to you in that anything you do, you do for surf. It’s not just the spiritual journey of wave riding but also the incredible humans you meet along the way. What does all this ethereal dissertation have do with reviewing The Surfline App? Since you asked I will tell: it’s so obvious the people who have dedicated their lives to making this App are true Surfer’s at heart. No doubt they could easily have taken higher paying jobs with NOAA or other Federally funded weather, and/ or atmospheric condition data collection Agencies. It’s their love of all things surf that has kept them here, at Surfline. Because every true surfer knows Surfline is the Gold Standard of surf prediction. It’s how it’s always been and always will be. I guess the question is: Will you be going for the Gold? Do yourself a favor and make it so.

Surf forecast and tracking. The app is worth having and paying for. I check it daily to find good windows for surfing. Sometimes it’s a bit off, but it’s the best solution that there is. The surf camera tracking is surprisingly cool. If you track your surf session with a Garmin watch and link your account to Surfline, you can get footage of waves that you caught when you’re surfing in front of a surf camera. The app will automatically break up the video feed by the waves that you caught. You can then download the videos and upload to IG stories. Although the footage is a bit far away, it’s passive and way easier than getting friends to take videos.

New interface is trash. [Update] Your upgrades keep making your app worse! Stop trying to sell us stuff from your shop at the expense of seeing the swell forecast — the actual reason we all use your app. You now need to click to favorites to see all your beaches and then click through your dumbed down graphs for the swell and wind information, then another for the forecast. Grr. I really don’t like that you took away your swell graph. It’s super annoying to click through each hour to see the predicted swells. Your wave size forecast is very inaccurate for some of the beaches I frequent, so looking at the wave size graph isn’t helpful. Instead, I would look at the swell graphs to easily check swell size and direction. It’s way more annoying to do that with your new interface. I also don’t like that you put the swell and wind information etc. on a different page. It was much better when you just scrolled down to see the information once you clicked on the beach.

Great info not always accurate. As we become more reliant on swell models and news to tell us what to expect and when to plan a trip we rely more and more on companies like Surfline, with there forecasting and historic information we can plan trips months in advance and have a much smaller chance of being skunked. That said there local forecasting could use a little boost in accuracy 3-4 and it’s solid 6ft that’s a nice surprise, but 6-7 occ. 8 and it’s 2-4ft? Now that’s a serious disappointment... unfortunately the later has been happening far too often lately and the swells are hitting 1-2 days before or after their predictions forecast. That said conditions change, models are not always accurate, it’s weather so you can’t expect perfection unless you are in a wave pool. That’s said it’s a valuable tool that I use daily. Thank you!

Surf’s Up. I live a couple of hours from the closest break to me and Surfline is an invaluable tool that help me maximize my time in the water. In the past I relied on averaging out the predictions from several apps, but always found Surfline forecasts to be the best. On top of the great forecasts (going out 16 days), the views from the surf cams give me perspective of each break that I can’t get anywhere else. Unfortunately, most of the time it just shows me what I’m missing out on, but on days that I can carve out time to surf, the cams only validate Surfline forecasts. All in all a great app and I’m also a premium member, which is well worth the money.

Surfline review by Tracy Hines. The only real ideal way to know what the waves look like is to go down to the beach and look at them daily. I live 2 miles from the beach. However, what I like about Surfline is the longer term predictions that are good for planning trips elsewhere. Also, I like knowing exactly when predicted hi tide is. What the swell pattern is and what the wind direction and speed will be. There are several breaks near my house. They all have different exposures and when tides and winds are not right in one place then I can make the decision to go elsewhere without having to ride down to look. Surfline can save a person time. It’s a good service. Stay blessed all and keep on surfing!!

Not meant for the every day surfer. Surfline does it’s best to annoy you in to buying their $100 a year premium service. Most average surfers don’t travel around the world and surf 100’s of different surf breaks. Usually wherever you live are the spots you frequent and there’s no need to have the cams from anywhere else really. Why spend $100 for all that??? I wouldn’t even be upset if there was some kind of package that let you pay just for the breaks you want but money hungry Surfline can’t do that. The newest update only lets you check the surf report 4 times in a week, even if the break doesn’t have a cam and even if you had already checked the break 5 minutes before (maybe you had a text that switched the app). Pretty lame seeing how they use normal publicly available data to compile their surf reports. This app is garbage. I hope more people follow suit and give this app negative reviews. Go download MagicSeaweed. That’s actually worth the time spent using it and you get all the same information.

Terrible update. I am sorry, have been using surfline for years but this last update is just terrible. It is the classic marketing tactic of “hey look, I am giving you something for free!” We all get excited, and then we realize they have taken something out that we really needed and now you have to pay for it. Let’s be serious, there are tons of surf apps out there for forecasts. And it’s not like surfline gets it right all the times either. But the one thing that at least differentiated surfline for me is that I could just open the app and watch the cam, see the conditions for myself and go. Now, I can only do that 3 times a week with a free account. Not only. If I forgot to read something on a screen and open the app once again 1 minute after my surf check, that counts as another check! Seriously???!!! Sure, I can see 15 days of forecast for free now but is that really helpful? Let’s be serious, it’s already a miracle if the day after is forecasted correctly, let alone 15 days. The only difference with the new update is that the main reason for using surfline (watching the cams) is now gone and you have to pay for it. Cheap sneaky way to get more people to pay. One star for me.

Expensive. . . Worth it.. I live inland, so I need to be able to plan my trips to the coast—in other words, I need the premium service. Surfline costs more than most streaming services, which seems a tad outrageous, to be honest. Magic Seaweed used to provide similarly reliable forecasting for 3 bucks—of course, they’re owned by Surfline now, so. . . For all my complaining about price, though, they do provide great surf reporting, even daily surf updates from reliable guides in certain locales. The star I took away certainly isn’t because the site/app isn’t good—it is. Very good. Lots of cams, accurate modeling (well, as accurate as 16-day modeling can be, def accurate within three days or so). It’s just too expensive, imo. I’ll have to cancel after summer, when my trips to the coast will be less frequent. Overall, it is really quite good.

Paul. Surfline is one of the greatest advances in surfing technology. I can’t imagine going back to the days of the recorded lifeguard reports or hope as the decision points for where and when to surf. I’m not wild about the scolding presentation of articles on the website and prefer a more static presentation to click into and out of. Finally, it seems that your surf report criteria for poor, fair and good is based primarily on weather conditions and not wave quality. I’d like to see more transparency on the criteria used and more emphasis on wave shape and quality in your reporting. Over all, couldn’t do it without Surfline! Thanks

High price for weekend warriors. I can’t really afford a year subscription at $99, and $12/mo is also too high for me…that’s $3 per week for a weekend warrior to check surf, and potentially find out the local surf is no bueno - that’s a waste of $3. If it was $8/mo, I think more people would subscribe. I fortunately just paid for a one-time offer from Surfline for a year subscription for $50 (really it was $49, but that one dollar less…I felt that 😆). Surfline has much more to offer than magic seaweed, Dawn patrol, lazy, surfer, etc. I just realistically have so many things in my life to pay for, and I have to make human choices about where to cut costs. Surfline has been one of them, and I’ve just made things work through local WebCams and other surf apps. I was willing to accept the one time deal for this year, though I will likely not continue beyond.

Surfing for along time.. I have been surfing for 35 years and it’s been such a blessing when Surfline came along. I used to just jump in my car early morning in order to catch waves that weren’t crowded. It was a crap shoot or hit or miss for wave size and weather. Tech now allows us to view the night before and determine whether the drive will give us waves or not. Trying to be responsible as far as wasting gas to get to the beach and being disappointed that it is totally flat is no longer an uncertainty. Read the information supplied by Surfline and make logical decisions as to where the swell is going to hit. Learn weather patterns and know the spots that benefit from a certain swell. If there are no waves choose to either stay home and do something that makes sense for you. I like Surfline because it help me make proper decisions. Thank you.

So easy to use!. The surfline app on my Apple watch worked great! I went to look at my clips and it was pulling the waikiki to ala wai cam. I figured out pretty quickly how to change spots and it reloaded my clips from bowls. The interface is great how you can watch it in landscape view and pick the next clip. And I like how it keeps the scroll zoom you are using. I also like how you can star favorite waves and sort them after. The app was also so easy to use, just press start and end. If the cams were higher resolution that would be amazing. It get's pretty grainy when you zoom in. Overall, I'm really stoked on the product and I plan to keep using it. It saves me so much time looking for clips and trying to remember what time I caught a wave. This is a breakthrough in technology for me.

Great Platform - Opportunities for Continuous Improvement. Surfline is the most comprehensive platform yet for surfaholics. The team seems like they are genuinely interested in putting out the best product possible. There are occasionally issues with cameras being down, and I think that especially for my local breaks in Central FL the camera angles could be better. I’m not a fan of cameras that pan because it seems like every time I have a good ride the camera is pointed away from me, but the app is easy to use and generally captures all my rides and even attempts on GPS. Sometimes it pulls random video where I didn’t even attempt to paddle for a wave, but I would rather go through the extra footage than miss a ride. One thing I would really like to see is an improved iPadOS interface. It seems like it is just a scaled version of the mobile interface and the way it is cropped is weird and can be kind of disorienting when navigating through the app. Overall it is a great experience, and I like the effort being put into cross-app connectivity because I think it is good for surfing as a whole, growing the community, increasing awareness of how our actions impact the ecosystems we rely on for recreation, and sharing the stoke. Looking forward to seeing where this platform goes in the future!

I love it, but I miss the it was. I love this app, but I get frustrated when I can find things. It was perfect up until a few updates ago. You don’t have to reinvent the wheel to make things, fresh and new, and definitely don’t move things without explaining where you put them, I’m sure I’ll be able to find it later, but I can’t find water temps and other miscellaneous things. Everything used to be on the front page, now you have to jump through several hoops to view everything. I don’t like that, however, I do love this app, and I couldn’t do without it. If any creators are reading this, please consider streamlining all the important information right on the first page of the location you’re checking out

Magic seaweed. This app has taken over magic seaweed and now I can’t find the high tide this is just dumb I’m not paying for an app I can’t use… also why would anyone pay for an app to find out the flow charts like it’s not a smart move I’ve read some reviews and it makes sense to charge for camera footage and what not but as for just finding out the tide flow not dealing with adds or pay to play because I can literally run a search on a search engine and get my answers it’s a shame what your company did to magic seaweed as it was useful and necessary but this obviously has payed reviews to drown out the actual reviews of people using the app I immediately uninstalled when it required me to make an account just to look at things … personally waste of time to download and this is in hopes that other fishermen who used to use magic seaweed will be able to see it and realize to not download this app

Making Life Easier. Getting old presents it’s own set of complications. This application definitely makes the decision process easier and faster. Is it worth surfing River Jetties before work? Do I feel like dealing with the crowd at gravels after work? Is it a soft top, fam & friends Saturday at Doheny? For what it is, Surfline does a pretty solid job. Times change. Boards take forever and cost more than ever. Your favourite Local shapers become global phenomena. The sand just isn’t the same. “You should’ve seen it 15 years ago.” The cost of living never runs out of gas. Wetsuits take a little more effort to put on, and Oprah builds vacant, tax write off, vacation Estates atop the overgrown trailer park playground you loved, eroding away the sands and its refracting, summer wedges. So, I figured why not use every available vehicle towards my benefit? EVERYbody else is. The forecasts have been pretty good to me too. Hopefully, it continues... great job you guys

Excellent App, but would still suggest a number of updates. Most recent update is great (hence the 5/5 review). However, one thing that consistently bothers me is the fact that there’s no click-through optionality on the little map that shows wind direction for a given break. It feels like a natural thing to click through and then be able to pull up a map by the break so that the user can zoom out a bit and explore other local breaks. It can be annoying to go all the way back to the “Explore” tab and then navigate to said break, and take a look around, versus being able to just click through and explore. Good for thought. Otherwise epic app, guys!

Keeps getting better !. I use Surfline more than any other app. Working from home , the new features focused on providing more hour by hour forecasting are useful to help plan my surfs! I would like to see more accurate/ current /forecast water temps… Also the new energy feature seems like it has potential… but linking it to what is experienced and waves is tough. what is hard to understand is scale. 10 times the energy seems like a massive difference but.. Also is there a way to show bottom conditions? The last swell changed the southbay dramatically yet the forecasts seemed to be based on the old assumptions. Eg for an extended time last fall el Porto wasn’t even breaking but would forecast better than say south pier.

Forced to buy premium, but still has ad’s?. No question Surfline is the best. They own magic seaweed, so they send false data on magic seaweed because they want Surfline to appear more accurate, which it is. Now that your forced basically to buy premium access, you still get ad’s on the app which is double dipping and beyond annoying. Would I suggest premium? Honestly I don’t really feel a benefit, it’s not like a whole new realm of insight opens up. Only reason I tired it was because of a student discount. I don’t really “feel” an extra benefit, more like it’s less irritating to use the app now. Suggestion: remove ads from premium users. Let’s hope they use their new found revenue from double dipping to increase the quality of the web cams. They are in need of a major upgrade at most breaks, if not all.

Great app and UI, constantly improving. Been a premium subscriber for years now, love to see how much effort the team behind Surfline has put into consistently improving the iOS and web app as well as constantly pushing out new forecasting features and ironing out bugs w/ patch updates. Definitely the go-to for anything related to surf/weather conditions! The forecasted color coded charts are beautifully designed and feature a host of different metrics - swell height w/ vector arrows, period, energy, wind, rain etc. I use the charts for checking future weather conditions over other apps like Apple weather or the weather channel

Still The Best Surf App/Website. Yes I agree that the ads are a bore (but there aren't any though if you're a Premium member), but it's a minor nuisance to bear for access to accurate reports and a beautiful interface with the most cams available. It occasionally has crashed on me too but rarely recently. For my 80 or so bucks per year Premium subscription for extended web forecasts, having this companion App is a dream and i actually use it more than the website everyday. Well worth the cash and minor nuisances - when the App is down due to location reception issues, going directly to Surfline Mobile on the internet usually will work unless one's cell signal is close to nonexistent. I agree that controllable cameras would be ideal but with their subscribership it would probably be impossible (can you imagine playing camera tug of war with 5000 Chads and Kimos at your favorite spot). Let's stop whining - you pay more and it isn't perfect but it's pretty darn good. Disclaimer - I'm not on their payroll).

Surf check update is a bust. Once the app updated to this new “surf check” model for free accounts, the app lost is worth for all the free users in Surfline. Before you had unlimited surf checks and could check any surf break you wanted multiple times a day. You could only see a 3 day forecast and couldn’t see premium cams but that was okay. Now you are only given 5 checks per week! But are given a 15 day forecast instead of 3, even though the forecast changes every day. You really need to check for the forecast on the given day you want to see the real forecast. This ruined my experience of the app. I can’t even check the see everyday of the week. I could only check one spot 5 days a week. Completely useless. All surfers know that you have to go “scout” the spots and find the best spot. This app used to be useful for that but now is irrelevant. This update was a huge marketing ploy to get free users to switch to premium by reducing the usefulness of the app to free users trying to coral them into buying the premium version so they could get back the functionality they had before as a free user. Money move by Surfline and not for the people. Give back the functionality for free users to check unlimited spots and remove the whole surf check feature. The app is useless with that feature. I will be using other surf forecasting apps so I can actually check the surf and no be limited to a weekly limit on my “surf checks”

Breaking up with Surfline. We had a pretty good run, you and I, my old darling Surfline, you even helped me score an epic post typhoon swell in Philippines once ! :) Our relationship had been strong, clean, and long period in the past but fell flat in recent years. Sloppy and textured conditions started to come between us. And lack of stories about underground rippers or anything really original, made you feel frigid, distant, and commercialized. Instead you continued to run stories about the same old names and became more and more short board centric. Other rips that started to drift us apart was your devotion to an over abundance of cams dotting all the good coast lines. Instead of getting out there and surfing a swell, I often just stared at my phone screen indecisive, about where the best waves were, watching cams until the conditions blew out. Instead of drawing me nearer to good surf you actually kept me away. But the final draining of our love was that your handlers wanted to charge me just to see you a few times a week or catch a peek at a simple chart. I look forward to time spent in the water to soothe any lingering pangs I have about our fall out. I’d rather get worked than hang out with you anymore.

Buranimal Surfline review. Overall pretty good job even though I like giving you guys a hard time online, the reports are pretty on with the occasional early or late call , but appreciate those when I’m on it 🤣🤙🏽 What I could say is putting a few cams that are specifically for people to download clips , people love themselves and I think that would be a lucrative move as far as gaining and keeping subscribers. Ex, if you put a cam on the surf Museum or the roof of the snack shack/bathrooms at the lane guys could get really good evening clips at the slot . Even cameras on the piers themselves, with higher definition so people can zoom in crop and still have good useable content. Evening and morning angles to avoid glare .. etc Anyway there’s my 14 cents .. (inflation) Hope it helps 🤙🏽

Awesome App. Great range of cameras to look at around the world along with some good information about conditions for the surf breaks.👍 Love the update of the home page now that you can scroll through your favourite surf breaks and see the live pictures straight away. Great addition.🌊 Would be good if local time could be located straight under live stream. But still a great app.

Best ever !!????. Where’s the search gone? Anticipation!? It’s still there to an extent if you are willing to get off the beaten track and explore, but when do we ?, Do you have the time? Now’s the time , it’s all ya got at the end of the day , it’s precious !!...this app makes it easy to plan and get prepared in a modern world where time constraints need to be factored Live Large & Get More Waves WeedsWormMushyTheToad

SurfLine. Great app can see the surf before and on the way to the beach good quality and lots of written information about the beach for etc wind speed, wind direction, surf hight and this is all without the premium option once at again recommend it and should get if you like the beach

Surfline Review. Surfline is a easy to use, fun, and helpful guide to surfing. It helps you choose your favourite spots and the conditions there, it can even let you know when it is good. Surfline can show you the height, tide, wind and much much more. Overall, Surfline is a great app to have and provides an amazing idea of where to hit the waves.

Forecasting. Would be awesome for us waterman you north to get a little insight to the swell forecast for mid-north Queensland as in-depth as the more southern regions, Sunshine Coast ect. Not sure if you gotta know but there are some world class waves up here in the north. Just takes more time more money more effort to find and score. Good for thought:) would love too see some northern forecasts! Cheers legends

Use it everyday.. Love this app. I use it everyday to see where the best spots are on the Gold Coast and to know what the wind, tide and forecasts are. It’s the next best thing to actually having a house on the beach and being able to see where the surfs at each morning. Great job Surfline.

Love it!!. This app has been amazing for me. I live in Noosa hinterland and can’t be driving each day to check the surf conditions. Having this app has been so handy for me to have a quick look at what’s going on at my favourite surf spots. The only thing I would ask is to please place a camera in Point Arkwright & Yaroomba? 🙏

Disappointing, too many ads. I’m using the free version and just hate the amount of advertising you are subjected to. First you have to wait to see the break you’ve selected while an ad runs in the video window, then after about 10 maybe 15 seconds of your break, the whole app screen turns into an ad for some atrocious piece of garbage game app for the next 30 seconds. I only need to look at a couple of cams to work out conditions, often they aren’t clear (salt spray) or not even working so can’t see the point in subscribing it’s overpriced for what you get. In australia we have just been directed to using this after using Coastalwatch for many years, it too had adverts but nothing like this onslaught. Will probably delete the app if this is what I can expect when I use it.

Jacques Colquhoun. Great tool to have, the app gives you a n honest report of what’s going at my favourite break’s & when curiosity gets to me I’ll check out what’s going on at any break I can think of. I love the app & look forward to anything new you might add to later.

Needs to Get the Basics Right. I have subscribed to three different apps and Surfline has exciting features but as an everyday app to check the surf for the week ahead it has some serious flaws. Most importantly its often very wrong, even on the day of the forecast for my home breaks on the E Coast. Reading the app and looking out the window often make me wonder why I spent the money. I live at Palm Beach so it also makes me question why the nearby buoy listed there is often not the Gold Coast for example today it gives Gladstone buoy data and the report is ankle to knee high, well maybe for the Jolly Green Giant but for anyone else its a mushy waist to head high. The report is wrong and you would have to ask is that because the algorithm is using the wrong buoy info. I also find it a little frustrating that- the web page gives more detail but if you leave it you have to sign back in; even though I pay for premium you still get ads; know before you go is hard to find on the website and even when I am signed in I still get messages to go Premium. In contrast to the above I really like the news feed, the graphs of swell size and angles and the explore tab all of these are very nice. I haven’t tried test flight but think that’s also an exciting idea. But for a surfer who just wants to plan his next surf, its over valued for the often not accurate information it supplies (where I surf).

Disappointed. The cams I want to see are not turned on until 7am! In summer this is useless to me when the sun rises at 5am. It’s says ‘please refresh’ but is like this EVERY day. The wind report is usually off by at least a few hours if not totally wrong. Sometimes the time stamp on the ‘report’ is from a time where the reporter must be walking home drunk because it would’ve been pitch dark! Written numerous times to Surfline who say “we value your feedback” and NEVER had a response. They had no issue auto renewing my subscription tho, which if I’d been onto it , I would’ve cancelled. Feel ripped off. What are you going to do about it Surfline?

Awesome, Highly recommend.. This app is awesome. It is easy to navigate and can tell u the swell of all you local areas and the distance from where you are to the location. This app even predicts the swell for the next few days go you can organise a surf and be prepared. Highly recommended 🤩🤩

I love Surfline. Downloaded it yesterday and haven’t stopped checking the conditions of my local beach. Love how user friendly it is and easy to use. 16 day forecast is great too because I can see what days are going to be good and what days are going to be bad. All in all if I had to change anything I wouldn’t.

Nice. For surfing, Surfline seems to be the best forecast app, it’s simplistic and has a useful user interface and the new travel section in the website is fantastic, the ratings are a great feature, however the actual forecast, wind, swell data is sometimes a little strange and hard to make sense of and inaccurate in some locations. Some more spots and cams would also be great.

Trash app as of 2024 (let me tell you why). Slowly during 2023 cameras started going down where your best surf spots are or when it’s good they seem to be turned off. Now for already paying customers they have created a premium subscription out of nowhere so that you strictly pay so that you don’t get Ads. That’s right Ads, have started to flood my screen every time I was to check the surf now and the only way to not have to watch them before you check the surf is to pay more then you already are. As of right now I am unsubscribing..

Please fix this bug!. I have this bug happen where usually on the second load of a spot after watching an ad, the livestream will fail to load and just give a black screen and also freeze my iPhone 12 mini. The app will either quit by itself if left long enough or I’ll have to lock the phone and reopen it, to where the app has quit and I’m on the home screen. Big issue as I'm not ready to pay yet for a membership and need to watch the cam multiple times as 30 seconds is sometimes not long enough!

Cams ok, forecast often unreliable. I have been using the app for a while before writing this review. Cams are ok (of course not everywhere and never in spots for "locals only"), they help. The wave forecast, quite the opposite, is often not reliable and is subject to change even overnight. It seems that they do not have enough data to work on, as the reliability of a forecast depends mainly on the amount of data collected on the ground.

Just wide of the mark. The Surfline app is great no real issue although not sure if I liked the last update, but change is Hard LOL. The Umina surf cam misses the best part of the beach break it pans to quickly from the south to the north the main break is usually in the middle Which means If you are looking back at the dawn patrol app you never see a wave The new camera is much clearer

Great!!. I’ve had it for a few months and I’ll always check everyday for some waves. Suprisingly most have been actuate with the hieght and the winds which makes you want to use the app more often! If you don’t have the premium it is a bit hard to look at the swell over the week because it only allows 2 days. But if you do which you can buy, it’s amazing. You also get full access to the Surf Cams set up around the world!

Always improving - Worth subscribing. I’m eating my words! The app is just getting better and I’m happy to pay for the privilege of ad free, rewindable cam footage, decent forecasts - summaries and detailed for the weather nerds, and interesting news. Love the new interface format. My only enhancement request is zooms is news images & of course more cams!

Worst wave forecast app ever. After years usinh magic sea weed, i’ve been forced to use this “fake forecast app” where absolutely all the forecast is wrong (wind, swell, wave hight, period..), where the forecast changes every time you refresh the screen, and where i can only see a couple foggy webcams with the free version, after being forced to watch ad after ad. This is NOT an app intended to make surfer’s life easier, this is 100% another of those useless FAKE apps with good appearance (totally stolen from the magic sea weed layout), made to MAKE PROFIT out of pockets of surfing community. Shame on you.

More ads than surf plus crashes all the time. Hi there, been really trying to give this app a go after you forced us to swap from Coastalwatch. Its fair enough if you focus on the paid version but that’s no excuse to offer a below poor experience to the users who choose to watch the ads that make you money! Honestly when the ads are longer than the block of surf cam view between something is off! Plus more often than not the app crashes after the 2nd ad so then you have to restart the whole thing and watch another ad to get back to it… Hoping you might consider adjusting the ad settings and fixing the bug too. Thanks

Great app all round. That app is great, however I’d like to see more deals/offers for other residents of the world other than the U.S. We all pay the same premium so why should these member discounts be only applicable for U.S residents. I’d also like to see the spot conditions and nearest boy (failed to load...) problem fixed. Even if you hit [RELOAD] it still fails. The spots in particular are on the Gold Coast/North NSW area and I know for a fact there is two government owned buoys within a very short distance of the spots. Thanks and keep up the good work. :) In response to developer: Yes. The premium perks should be available to everyone who is paying for premium as it states “Premium Perks”. I just don’t see why some perks are only available to select U.S customers and not members from other parts of the globe. This is not fair as we all pay the same price as far as I’m aware.

A Great Surf Report. Surfline is an ok app and personally I wouldn't use a different one due to its superiority in cameras, but some of the reports say 1-2ft for the Perth area on a 4ft day. For the Margeret River Pro this year it said that the height was 2-3ft. This is just a major inconvenience i find that putting the settings on face height instead of traditional height is slightly more accurate. Apart from that the app is great with semi accurate winds and tides. The Regional Forecast and Premium Analysis are great aswell just with a little inconsistency the further the date is to the current one. The swell maps is impressive and easy to read aswell. An overall ok app Update a week later: The app now keeps on crashing my account I can't read any reports without it crashing. I've reset my password, phone and deleted the app over and again but nothing seems to work.

Great App. Very useful to gauge the surf from the comfort of your phone. Thank you SurfLine! Improvement suggestion: 1. Allow manual panning of cameras (could be assigned to a viewer, selected at random) 2. Certain beaches only have the camera pointed at one corner, should allow for panning to see full beach.

Better Han coffee. When this service use to be free I was happy, but then the paid membership model put me off. The positive being is that I learned how to read the charts to predict swell and wave conditions. However when my wife wanted to get me a gift and I couldn’t think of anything, my son and I said get a membership….when you work it out, it cost less than takeaway coffees and keeps me off the coffee.

Horrible. I am putting it as a 5 star because they will not show this other wise but I would actually rate this a 1 without paying u can check the surf 5 times a week so it will not let u check it after that and there are constant adds it is a horrible app that just wants your money

good for 22 cents a day. Great reliable app. I can now check the camera as well as surf conditions wind tides and temp all in one place and suggested wetsuit thickness. I swim more in winter because I can dress for warmth in and out of the water. it has more features compared to previous and use of the ocean is free so i don’t mind paying the yearly subscription. I’m not paid to write this I just really like it 🙂🏊

Cams. Hi, there are some faults with the cams. I have Most of the sydney cams saved as favorites but I can be in curl curl for example and then have my favorites listed along the bottom of screen (iPhone app) and then when I click on Dee why the cams doesn’t actually change , but the name of the cam changes from curl curl to Dee why…weird. It does it with a few other ones awell. I would then need to go out of cams and go back into the new one I want.

My feedback. I think this service is totally awesome and a benefit to everyone…surfers and non surfers. My only suggestion would be ‘more’ live cams at some ‘more’ of the major beaches and even include some more river mouths etc???? Hope this helps but I’m a BIG fan of this site and app.

Better days with Coastalwatch. Since Surfline has taken coastalwatch, it’s become frustrating that with a monopoly on free surf cams they are leveraging it so hard with adds. I can’t look at the cam long enough to get a picture of the conditions, with out sitting through a 15 second add every 5 - 10 second. And sorting beaches by alphabetic is a little silly when your away from home and don’t know the area. Like CW, it’s best to sort by order from north to south.

Great potential, poor information. Love being able to have all the surf cams, but when it comes to size + knots description, it is almost always extremely wrong. This defeats the purpose of me paying monthly for an app that doesn’t even give me correct information. Recently my local spot said 7-8ft when the waves were actually 1ft. Please improve on this as I may need to stop paying for this app soon. And I am also paying money for cams that have been offline/broken for weeks. These should be fixed in 1-3 business days for all the paying customers. And one last thing. The replay option always makes the app shut down everytime I try and watch more than a minutes worth of footage. So so much to change Surfline. Not happy with the quality of this app at all.

Feedback. I’m a pensioner living at the back end of Kirra and believe it or not, I can’t afford to pay for a subscription. I can get the the basic idea of what the surf is like but not really enough info to base a decision on whether to go down or not. So though it’s nice to get a gauge on what’s happening it’s not enough and you guys don’t cater for those marginal survivors living off a CentreLink government pensions. I do appreciate what you provide though.

Fantastic app. This is such a great surf app. I’m on the Surfcoast Victoria and the cameras are so clear all information is up to date and accurate the format is easy to read and find but most of all the cameras are amazing. There’s a hill in front of my house but over that hill is the camera so I can see the whole beach and the surf before I head out. Definitely worth the money.

Paying For Premium Is A Bad Idea. I have been a paying subscriber from back in the Coastwatch days. Unfortunately paying for an ad free subscription gets you not much at all for nearly 80 bucks a year you will still get the offline camera symbol far too regularly with mostly a dirty view that makes some viewing impossible when It does work. At $30 a year you could put up with it but there is nothing‘Premium’ about the subscription other than the price.

Reliable fun and easy.. I use other sources too but this is an app I often go to for local reports when short on time and I find it to be a good one. Its lame if I’m not checking the waves via software applications like this. I hope to put the time aside soon to understand weather reports well enough to read the conditions in the paper. 😎

Keep it real. For the past month I have been testing 4 4 different surf reports to see which one is most accurate for my break and SURFLINE was the most accurate... The others were way off and I think only pump numbers to support the shop & retail trade ... They get so wrong .. Thanks Surfline for keeping it real 🤙🏻

Surfline takes over more control…. Even when you’re paying the minimum subscription you only get a 16 day forecast and SOME wave cameras with ads playing every 30 seconds! App tracking and personalised ads are still all around the app even while paying but they still make money off your data if you don’t pay. Absolute sell outs sipping their lattes in their offices, figuring out how to make more money off the average Jerry. A disgrace to the good hearted surfing community. At least we don’t have to pay a fee just to get into the ocean yet…

Really POOR!. Awful. Subscription transfer from CW. CW much better. Where is the search function? Where is the cam list (when just want to check the surf and conditions (but not a favourite). Lacking in useful information. Poor features. Waste of money. Will not renew subscription unless it improves dramatically. Would have rated it a 0 if I could have. Help function is a joke. Unable to find surf report and/or cams for any beach that is not a favourite. Surf predictions for a beach that I may want to looks at going to but not is near my location???? Completely useless app. Don’t waste your time or money.

Lift your Stoke.. My Surfline subscription gives me constant access to the worlds best surf cam aggregation and quality daily surfing articles. It keeps my surf Stoke well charged, inspires me to go surfing and stay tubed! My only problem is having to continually sign in on my phone but not on the iPad.

Quality. In my experience, sometimes the winds are not completely accurate, and the surf cameras are a pain when spamming ads, but my goodness it’s amazing - really makes things easy when looking for where to go for a surf 🤩 only thing I wish for is more surf cameras!

Why Surfline is so good. I have been using Surfline since I started surfing. I have been surfing for 2 months and I am 13, I really like this app because the surf is always what it says. It’s really helpful as well when you are trying to choose the best beach with good surf. Definitely giving it a 5. I would get premium as well.

The good and the bad. Surfline is a really good website to track swells and the waves at your favorite surf break, but a lot of the good abilities are locked behind a pay wall, this includes some live streams of the surf, wave information and other things, it is quite annoying and I wish it was free but they gotta make money, other then that the site is really good and I recommend

.. Frustrating experience for new users. Bought premium, fair enough price and all, but then it still advertises you to buy premium at every chance it gets. Then there’s no way to check whether you’ve actually got premium and god help me when I want to try and cancel the subscription. Cool ideas and still a helpful app all round but some serious flaws in the execution.

Great app. I love this app and use it all the time. The guys writing the reports seem to know what their talking about. The cameras a fairly good, the quality could be better tho. The multi cam is great where available. A few more spots with multiple cam would benefit users greatly. I would recommend combining the shark tracker app with this somehow. A collaboration with the two apps and better quality camera vision as mentioned would bring this app up to a 5 star app. In conclusion I would definitely recommend this app for others to use.

Wally. Guys your forecasting is A1 … that analysis might be too much go some but for planners and frothers there’s no other such service … But beach cams need some work fellas in particular one that I need every day … that being peregian beach … those cameras are as good as looking through a coles shopping bag at the surf … seriously iether the enclosure lens is done or the camera itself … please get its owners to sort it out Thanks for a wonderful service otherwise !

I made the jump. I was always trying to watch the cams for free and just got over it. I thought you know what i will use the free trial and see if it “that much better” and it really is. As soon as i used it as a premium service i realised ahh okay this is the go. Im more then happy to pay 6-7 bucks a month so i can watch the cams for a decent amount before i decide to drive to the beach. Very well worth it. If you’re curious like me just try the free trial. Im happy i did.

Great but annoying sometimes. The app in general is great it ticks off most of that smaller towns surf spots, I would definitely recommend this compared to other surf apps like magic seaweed. It can just get annoying sometimes because without premium you can only check the surf 3 times per day.

The best app going. Absolutely love the app, easy to use, looks amazing, interactive. I think the Apple Watch component tracking a surf is great displaying HR, it would be good to sink the surf data to other health and fitness platforms such as strava. Also would be cool to get those little info icons next to swell, the periods and seconds to briefly explain what they mean and how it works.

Seeing is believing. Quite simply, if you are wondering what the surf is doing, set up a number of preferences spread across your most likely places to surf or nearby .. click in and really see if you should venture into the water . If you know what works in what conditions, you’ll save time being able to hit the right break for that day or know to linger and go out a bit later. Technology used right. Thanks Surfline.!!

Great app. Allows me to stay on top of surf

Frustrating so far. I just loaded the app to simply check out the video quality. I clicked twice on a livecam that was not functioning, The system reduced my 3 permissible visits to 1, so I have only one more chance to see any live video on the free (exploratory) version of the app this week!!

Perfect to sometimes poor surf reaports. Most of the time Surfline has good surf reaports but sometimes has unrealizable size reaports.

Great app. Great forcast app. Cams and sync to Dawn Patrol surf tracker is very cool.

Tide graph. I find it’s been hidden away. You need to bring it back to the splash page and make it visible better

Great app - accurate daily data. Great app, used it to find spots near me. Was useful in finding niche areas and the information is very accurate

Great site!. I run the open water diving for a scuba club and use your site everyday to write up a dive site evaluation list. The “poor” surf conditions are our good dive conditions!! The surf height and direction helps me pick safer spots to dive, recommending those with protection from the swell…Thanks for this great tool for enhancing fun and improving safety!

My go-to!. From forecasts to cams to surf tracking on my Apple Watch, this app crushes it. Plus you can combine it with the dawn patrol app on the watch too.

The best app to track swell. The best app to track swell in most places, love the notification feature too

Matt. Your modeling should show graphics and numerical data.

Overly complicated. Trim the fat.. Way too much information, crowded in comparison to magic seaweed. Just show us a tidal chart and swell/period directions. Surflines “interpretation” of the conditions are completely wrong in my area. The forecasting of the wave height in metric is also too large of a measurement “.09” etc. is just frustrating. Way to kill a perfectly good thing in the name of “surfing as a business.” Worst merger ever

Great app. Enjoying the new format

Surfline. I have been constantly in the wrong spots when trying to surf but when I got Surfline I was able to go to the right surf spots at the right time.

Nice upgrades. Better than MSW: same forecast, but with cams and added intel. Loving it.

Poor UX. I’m trapped in a loop when creating a new account where it asks me to enter my MSW email. If I do it, nothing happens. If I ignore it, it opens a new window asking me to create a new account, after which it asks me to enter my MSW email.

Hot garbage. Overly designed version of magic seaweed w/o the beautifully simplistic easy to use nature of msw. Greedy execs who bought a beautiful grassroots website and want to line their pockets with underserved subscription fees for what was previously free and of better quality. Loses saved breaks and gives a clean screen if u don't pay for worthless premium. Pathetic all around

The best app. Amazing

Surfline. The Best!!!

Great App. Use this app for surfing abroad. Definitely a great resource and something to keep in your arsenal.

Thank you. Surfline is great always bang on.

Surfline. Great app, accurate, good estimates

My “go to” source for all surf reports. Surfline is much improved with better organization and detail regarding multiple surf spots.

Auto volume ads. Come on. I get you need to show ads but automatically turning the volume on is annoying as hell

great. all you need

Navigation. The bavigation is not very intuitive

sick app. if you surf, you should probably have it

NOT a kooky app. Legit !

Never miss another Swell. Surfline is my go to app to find out where the waves are pumping and if its worth the trip.

Excellent app. Love Surfline. Informative and good reports

Great surf forecast. I always check the app before deciding where to surf. The app shows wave rates which is super handy.

No dark mode. Please make a dark mode! It’s a great visual setup for people with certain disabilities!

Loving it. I really like it

amazingggg!!. best app I have ever used and so convenient :)

Need to report a bug. Love the app but need to report a bug. The drop and drag functionality within the favorites section is wonky. As soon as a slate is selected, the page begins pulling to the bottom - making it impossible to organize my favorites. Apple 11 Pro 14.6

Great app. Great app. Has all the local surf spots in my area, lots of details and very accurate forecasts.

Easy to use!. Good app. Has breaks that others don’t.

Amazing.. I was bummed when MagicSeaweed was going under, but I have to say, I’m impressed with the new app.

Simply the best!. 5 stars

Great App. Get all you need to plan your surfing day from this app

Surfline rules. One app to rule them all. One app that binds.

Surfline. Surfline is a rly sick app , it’s rly cool how there is a discount for young people as myself as for i am 16. One thing that is quite annoying is that the quality is good ish but if you zoom in at all, to try to spot yourself out of the crowd it is nearly impossible too recognize yourself. But I am great full that there is even a camera at my local beach In the first place. One thing that is really interesting about Surfline is a full paragraph about when and why the best time of the day is going to be to surf , this is sick as I learn about what conditions are good and why. Thanks Surfline

Review. I would like to see a more visually appealing Weekly graph on my home page for my fav locations. Like magicseaweed had. Thanks.

Yess. So good!!

Great app. It’s hard to be perfect, but you can tell these folk try their best. Love upgrading to premo for surf trips. Otherwise Canada doesn’t relate much to the premium membership. If looking for great content go buy a Surfers Journal

Awesome. Great to know the good spots! Quick and easy!

Size. Can’t say this is criticism because I don’t know your job. But the size around tofino area in the forecasts is always a good amount small or bigger in your forecasts. I don’t think this is helpful at all but it’s all I have. Might as well call it a back handled compliment I guess

Not for outside USA. Used to use it when it was MSA (Magicseeweed) and was awesome, now this new app has NO data / setup prompts for regions outside USA… Typed in Tofino in BC, Canada and it thought this was in Mozambique, deleted

Good app, but. For lesser known and lesser frequented surf spots it’s very important to cross check with windy.com, because surfline often get their wind data wrong. That’s one thing I miss from msw.

Surfline. Wonderful site and love all the data. Model accuracy is a bit off for both wind and waves in the last 6-12 months. Perhaps due to wave buoys being out of service. Overall - amazing site!! I Depend on you guys everyday and you deliver!!!!

Amazing apps. Good for day to day surf and surf trip

What about other sports?. I just started using this app. I don’t surf, but I skimboard. I find the app for useful and helpful but had a few suggestions to better appeal to a portion of your users. Would it be possible to make the app send notifications based on how good it is for skimboarding rather than surfing if it is my preferred sport? For instance a surfer might find a long break period to be great but a long, off shore break period would be very bad for a skimboarder. Rather than notify for things like that maybe make it an option to have it notify for good, big shorebreak?

The go-to forecasting app just needs a few things. If you’re a surfer or even just live near an ocean this is the app! Typically close reports and current condition details but not always. Sometimes off in wave heights but assuming their meteorologists are going off buoy readings and surf cams I guess it makes sense. Long time Premium subscriber and seems to be worth it! I wish some charts would be slightly more detailed/accurate. Also can we get dark mode please. Sometimes I’m waking up to check the cam around sunrise or checking late and it would be nice to not be blinded.

Surfline Review from a Floridian. This app makes it possible to attempt to forecast for any surf trip or just trying to score a wave at home. Of course, it doesn’t beat local knowledge but it gives you the chance to get out there and see the waves before you arrive. I find it tho that if I just wait for Surfline to say it to be good..I almost never surf. So nothing is better than seeing it with your own eyes in the lineup…but all in all this is a great tool and EVERY serious surfer should have premium. It’s great that you can do cam rewinds and actually watch your waves.

Igosurf@aol/ one of the first accounts. All of its great. I would value a longer looser opinion of suggestion by a senior forecaster a week or two further out with a dedicated easy to navigate updated entire global map with colored swell / Also link with google earth. So right now you have to look at Surfline / look at windy / and then if your exploring you go to google earth to see where the blobs are hitting and if there are angles on the coast … why do I have to go to all 3 ? ??? Make it so it’s all on Surfline app / partner up. I think the google guy surfs

Why I like this app!😍. This app is amazing. I don’t like going surfing by myself but when I see a ton of people out there shredding the gnar I want to go out there with everyone else. I don’t just surf. I skimboard and skateboard too but I’m mostly in the water. I was born on the water to and I’m like a fish in and out of water. This app helps me know what I will be expecting to see at the beach so I know what to bring. If you see this today I wrote this is March 22, 2021. I have been using this app for the last year and it never lets me down. I hope you enjoy this app a lot❤️🤟🏾🤙🏾🏄🏾‍♂️🐠

Good idea of swell. I have been using Surfline premium for almost 2 years now as an avid surfer and for work as a dive master for checking conditions of dive spots. Living on Oahu we have a bunch of cameras which makes it worth having the premium to see the swell and crowds. If there weren’t as many cameras on Oahu I wouldn’t waste my money on premium, the predictions are almost copy pasted and never accurate. The predictions of certain areas are sometimes very off especially on the windward side of Oahu. Surfline is a good reference for swell and good areas to surf but other from that you are better off heading out early to check conditions yourself.

Used to be good. Surfline is a great tool! It used to be good for users that didn't pay for the service. It gave them enough information so that they could know a reasonable forecast and see what they wanted to see as far as cams go. But lets face it, Surfline has now made their service impossible to use for users who don't pay for their premium service. To the team at Surfline, do yourself a favor and just get rid of free use all together. It hurts you, the company, and us, the users, to get bombarded with ads, have none of the decent cams in our area work, and a one day in advance forecast that forces the user to upgrade the premium. You will have a much happier customer base if you are just honest and make your service an exclusively paid one. I wish you the best in your development!

Must Have app- Digital Dawn Patrol. My day revolves around this app! I check this before I check my email. For a surfer who lives at the beach (Outer Banks), I can save a ton of time by checking the cameras and wind, instead of driving the coast looking for a break.. which cuts into precious surf time. On the East Coast we have sand bars, so breaks can be inconsistent and change daily.. the updated/clear cameras give me real time info to pick my spot for the day.. and to check the crowds. I almost forget that this is an app, it’s just part of life now.

Not a surfer. I’m a serious tide-pool beginner… not a surfer. I’m using this app to make sure the swell is low on days when the tide gets extra low. It’s nice to have some leeway in planning my schedule. Thanks for making the app so comprehensive. I hope to use it more in the spring/summer/fall when swell is less intense. I like seeing multiple locations so I can gauge when an area will be the calmest. Later in the summer, I hope to snorkel and kayak, so this is a safety measure for me in all these various activities. Thanks!

Amazing App!. Where else can you check all your favorite surf spots throughout the world at the click of a button. What a great app to offer you live streaming views, tides, swell direction & swell intervals of your home breaks and the worlds most amazing waves. Now I only wish I had more time to visit all these amazing spots, thanks for all your hard work Surfline team!!! You have changed the surfing world and saved us all a lot of time & energy searching for the best spot to paddle out, I appreciate all that you do to bring the surfing world to my finger tips, Thank you.

Island Boy 😈. Hey guys! I have been a user of Surfline App for about 2 years now or so and the app has been getting better and better in its forecast and the way the present it to you in real time. I would love to add my favorite spot to surf which is near Margaras so I can get a snapshot of the swell before driving towards it and surf. Being said that, accuracy has gone better and with the info provided now you can almost imagine the waves at the beach just by looking at the information that the app provides. Greatly appreciate!

This or that. Pros Surfline is awesome because the cams allow us to check conditions before we go…also the cam rewind is cool for getting some rough footage that most of us would not get otherwise. Forecasting info is very useful as well, especially if you know what you’re doing Cons The new color grades are whacked, the change was very irrelevant in my opinion. Why were they changed? They were fine the way they were, sometimes things should be left alone….but I’m sure the executive that made the decision is very excited about it…at least that makes one of us lol! Some camera angles are not where they should be. Example 1-Seaside Cam…what is that about? It’s literally at George’s and facing 1/4 mile down the beach…not good. For as much money as Surfline generates there should be much more accuracy and variety, but all in all it’s a good tool to help you with your surf analysis and travel plans. After all it is a monopoly and I would like to see someone create a rival website

Slow cams. Both regular and cam rewinds are now extremely slow to load. I’ve tried iPad, iPhone, and desktop browser and noticed it across all devices (on wifi and off.) I tried turning off “highlights” and still it persists. Cam highlights in particular used to be extremely fast and now they seem to “buffer” forever when scrubbing through a video. Not sure what changed, but it’s killing the UX. Also, please bring back the colored line graphs for the different swells each day. It was more useful and presented more data than the aggregated bar chart style that was introduced in the recent update. About one year ago before cam “highlights,” this app was in a perfect spot. Thanks for all the work you guys do, this is really one of my most-used apps but I’m bummed because it seems like there are new flashy updates that are just taking away from the core experience of this app. Good forecasts with detailed data and fast-loading cams + rewinds are really all we need.

Nothing Free Anymore. I’ve used Surfline for years now, but recently it’s gone downhill. The addition of checks was a flop in my opinion, and limits what you can view over the course of a week. The free version has adds, and I was plenty happy to watch them in order to get my 30 seconds of viewing. Recently however, every surf spot in my vicinity has become a premium cam. I can’t see anything close to where I am and the next closest spot is a completely different type of break compared to my local spots (And 20+ minutes further). The only perk is knowing water temp and general wave size (which a lot of the time isn’t all that accurate).... and I could look that up somewhere else.

Pretty Solid!. For Hawai’i I think Surfline is the best forecasting tool. Magic seaweed seems way more accurate for Europe but that’s where they’re based. Surfline is a high quality program that makes figuring out where and when to surf as easy as possible. Living where I do without it and scoring fun to epic waves regularly would not be so easy. It’s still a challenge and a hunt due to the rugged and diverse coastline and openness to so many swells. But, with Surfline I can narrow down where to check and find surf and it’s almost always pretty close to what’s actually going on in the water. The news and features are a nice bonus too!

Good app gone bad. Very recently, Surfline has updated their app and ruined my opinion of themselves. Now, you can’t even get a forecast for the current day without paying for premium. Just last week, you could at least get a 2 day forecast for any spot and view some free cameras. Even that is nothing compared to getting access to all cams and a 5 day forecast that you were able to get 2 years ago without a subscription. How much longer before Surfline becomes paid only? I feel like they are shooting themselves in the foot because I personally would never buy a subscription with all the other free alternatives out there and I would watch the cams with ads giving them revenue. Now that I can’t even click on a spot to get to an ad, they aren’t getting any of the revenue from those that think like me.

Might be worth it if you’d utilize premium. If you’re looking for a good app and you’re willing to pay a minimum of $100/year, then you might consider this app. They really push premium so if you’re looking for a good free app this isn’t your choice — lots of adds and they’ve downgraded functions of the free version. The one benefit is day-of webcam use, which is quite nice. It’s the only reason I still have the app. Other than that I’m not to fond of it but then I don’t have premium🤷🏼‍♂️. I don’t feel it’d be worth the price but maybe I’m wrong. There are other apps, websites, and webcam accessing sites that are free. Also, I live in Oregon and don’t surf super often; so take that into account.

New and experienced encouraged to use!. Done are the days of guessing and playing phone tag with your buddies to find some great waves. I’ve head this for a month now and i couldn’t be happier. I’ve never left an app review but I’m so impressed I just had to. You get real time data and personalized swell charts at your fingertips. For beginners, it’s great to find awesome new spots to shred and for experienced surfers you can find awesome places around the country to go and surf! If you surf and don’t have this app I have one question. Do you even shred?

Premium is a must. If you surf seriously and use Surfline, do yourself a favor and upgrade to premium. The small annual payment is well worth all the features. There are so many other things you probably spend this amount of money on that don’t offer a 10th the value Surfline does. Of course, if you’re a kook who just thinks they look cool standing at the beach with a surfboard in your hand, then, by all means, I believe the free version will work just fine for you. Thanks, Surfline, for all the great years of service; keep it up!

It’s changed a lot. I used to live by this app for its great accuracy and easy to use interface, now it seems it has gone the route of most apps requiring an account and almost forcing you to get a premium account by only giving you 2 accurate spot reports per week, 2 a week!!! I am not the kind to bash a product but I feel I can use that up in 5 minutes trying to decide what beach to hit on any given day, the live camera feed is a very nice feature and I understand there is money needing to be made but there are already on screen adds that I feel can be enough to not have to pay a premium subscription, still a great app but it’s gone “corporate” in a way, not stoked but it’s still the best option

Go to surf forecasting app. Surfline has been a staple for Surfers for over a decade. As a professional rescuer, I rely on Surfline to gather all surf forecast data the fastest and easiest. From current conditions, to tide forecasts, wind and buoy data, Surfline combines everything you need for a quick and reliable look at the day and upcoming conditions. An essential service from the occasional beach-goer to the avid surfer, up to professionals and rescuers, Surfline really is the industry standard. The new app format was a little hard to transition to, but once you’re used to the layout, it makes sense and gives you the data you need.

Great tool to learn the waves’ height. We are family of beginner surfers and instructors had told us about this tool. Since we love to have our kids to practice with 1-2 feet waves and sometimes 2-3 feet, this tool allows us to see the height really easily. For complete beginners, we are clueless for many things about surfing. So if it s not too stretch I would love to see some ways to teach us. Maybe somehow incorporate chat Ai so that we can ask some intricate questions. For example, “today weather is rain and thunderstorms. would it be safe for us to send kids to surf lessons at Rockaway?”

Gave 2 because when it’s needed doesn’t quit pull thru traveling etc.... I will say this I do love the app use it a ton! The only drawback is sometimes when either your traveling or getting a honest real prediction it’s tough! Tides and swell should be understood better or maybe throw them a bone or something? But let’s be real here this is in the realm of predictions of Mother Nature and we have not been kind to her.. or the view might be we can’t control it. But as far as app crashing sometimes, or for no reason spots disappearing on your “surf spot list” on the app then my bank being charged and then getting no service for a day or so while traveling seems pretty “Bunk island” anyway otherwise can’t complain.

They really are the only real surf forecast app on the market. Been using them for years with varying degrees of love and hate. Currently, the updated app is lovely. Would be nice if there were more Cams and the cams had much higher resolutions. The session tracker feature is cool in idea only, but in reality even the best rides you look grainy and most of the time it’s difficult to get a good video. Hopefully in the future they roll out some massive improvements in this area. Love the new travel features they are pushing out. Even with the frustrations, the forecasting and access to cams for popular surf spots makes this indispensable for any real surfer.

Stoked on Surfline. I’ve used a few different surf report websites but I’ve always preferred Surfline. I especially like the live webcam and the reports are pretty accurate most of the time. Only thing I’m bummed on is having to pay for more use of the webcams and the extended forecast. I will say this though, if you use Surfline often, the subscription is worth it. I payed for it last year before I injured my back and then broke my wrist, so I didn’t get much use out of it. I will subscribing again when I have the extra money. 🤙🏼

Great App, Great Background. Like most, I have limited time to head out. This really helps me make sure I pick a local spot that will be worth it (I’ve even found their forecasts to be accurate - at least a couple days out). Another added benefit that I wasn’t expecting: using their cams as calming windows on my computer. Throughout the work day, I’ve started opening up various spots just to let the cam roll. After a year of mostly being stuck at home, having just some simple escape of watching the waves come in helps.

Best surf app. I don’t know of another app that condenses all things surfing. Forecasts are spot-on, info about the beaches is useful when traveling, and the cameras are a plus. I also like there regional reports and general “surf news” items. My only negative is the Watch app, it needs work. I’m less interested in recording my surf session than having a condensed snapshot of the surf weather. Please make a Watch app that provides swell size, swell direction, swell period, wind speed, wind direction, tide height, tide direction, moon phase, sunrise/sunset time.

Current version is a bust. This latest update took something that worked well and made it harder to use, less intuitive, and more time consuming. Once they fix these annoying issues I’ll change this review to a 5 star. More specifically, before you could learn the current tide, what the tide is going to, and watch current conditions all from the live cam at the same time. Scrolling to different live cams is now a pain as the scroll under favorites starts at your first favorite rather than setting the scroll from the cam you’re on. That and line graphs of the individual swell heights and angles are gone, now we just see bar graphs and numbers, which is lame.

Great App. Great accessibility for all my favorite spots around the world and locally. Great content on the sport and love being able to watch the tournaments. The sessions app is awesome. Knowing the location of some of the open beach cams (Jensen Beach, FL, e.g.) would be helpful but otherwise this is the app I use the most on my phone. Also connectivity to Apple watch helps log the workout and is great. Well run business enterprise that adds value to its customers. Sometimes I just turn on my favorite spot and keep it on the screen while I’m working.

Best surf forecast app if you pay. Surfline is inarguably the best surf app, especially if you pay to be a premium member. I have been using Surfline since I can remember and have tried many other websites or apps as well. What is great about Surfline is that its consistent, more accurate, and they have detailed info about swells for regions and sub regions. Aside from the info, the UI is awesome and very easy to navigate and use. I also have watched so many pros surf through the Surfline cameras as they have cameras all over the world at all the best spots (where they can). Despite living on the beach i still use this app to check swell forecasts and the cams as well.

Bread And Butter. Surfline is an online forecasting service first and a surf media publication third. Surfline has a mediocre app going here for its bread and butter service. The UX is a 4.5 out of 10. Picture heavy bars and titles make for terrible semantics and semiotics of how to navigate the app. While illegal, let’s admit a lot of this happens while in the car checking surf spots, but it’s hard enough sitting still. Most of all this app is like 2g network slow. 3 out of 5 mornings the cam you want is “unavailable”. The Avalon Harbor weather camera and Palm Springs aerial tram cam have more consecutive working days than your average Surfline cam. Just make this app your first priority and competing with Stab your second!

Great Resource!. I’m very happy with the information this app provides to me. It includes everything I need without over complicating things. I love the forecasts reports feature. The premium camera access is good, I wouldn’t just rely on it though. Take the time to understand the forecast info and tide info, then use the cameras to see the infos results. Five stars means it’s a perfect app and there’s nothing to improve on. I gave it four to provide some constructive criticism on the UI. It’s definitely not a terrible UI but I believe for the yearly subscription cost that they can do better. I’m excited to see what more they can do with it.

Helpful surf app. I love to surf. It’s so fun when you get a nice line with a few cutbacks and also when you are just out in the water. Surfline is by far the best surf tracking app. Their reports are most of the time reliable and their app is very user friendly and easy to use. This is the app I use to track my surf because it’s a great app and it gives a lot of information regarding surf conditions. What can I say? This app deserves 5 stars. It’s at a 4.8 but it really deserves a 5. Totally recommend it for surfers (or beach lovers) of all ages and skill levels. Great app. 5 stars. Amazing. Download. It. Now.

Surf Report. Mainly FROM Florida and Puerto Rico 30+ year user / follower of Surfline (I have used them all over North America, Western Europe, Caribbean and Latin America) There are a massive amount of locations worldwide with cams on this app. For this reason I started out with a 5 star rating but I have to reduce that by 2 stars because even though the cams are very very good The surf reports are not reliable - they are sometimes accurate but they are often not. The long range reports are NEVER accurate. The short range accuracy is limited to a few days maybe as many as five days out but most everything they predict changes day of the swell. The long range isn’t a worth while feature for the premium upgrade but the removal of the advertising is definitely worth the ads if you plan on watching cams DO NOT PLAN AN INTERNATIONAL SURF TRIP BASED ON LONG RANGE FORECASTS ON SURFLINE THEY HAVENT BEEN ABLE TO GET THOSE DOWN TO A SCIENCE YET IT ALWAYS APPEARS THAT THEY CREATE LOTS OF HYPE TO DRIVE VISITOR RANKINGS LONG RANGE (assumption no proof) but this is a more recent change I have noticed over the past couple / few years ITS BETTER TO LEARN TO CHART NOAA DATA STORM AND WIND DATA YOURSELF

Best surf app! UI is confusing though. Surfline is definitely the best app for surf reports and forecasts. Unfortunately the recent update in the UI has made reading the forecast and conditions confusing and disorganized. It was a good idea to clean up the UI but instead the app now scatters then graphical information across several views making it cryptic and confusing. Hoping your team recognize this and are working on streamlining and making the UI data easy to read again soon.

Ala Moana beach park. Would you guys be able to add a second camera so that one could catch more in front of magic island to courts. The second camera would be able to catch the rest of the beach park that way it’s not moving as much?or even see if you’d be able to add more cameras to different locations that are more front on. In the afternoons. From 3 to like 6 pm you can see much because of the glare off the water makes it like a mirror for the sun. I’m sure a lot of people would appreciate having another camera with less panning and/ or a different angle for the evening glare. Aloha

Amazingly Helpful. I started surfing towards the end of March. My best friend goes with me and her dad has been surfing for years. We were looking for surfing apps and her dad recommended Surfline! We looked at it and downloaded it immediately. I was obsessed with it. It had everything I needed to know and more. I don’t have premium, but even then, it is a really helpful app to have if you are a surfer. There are lots of features including favoriting beaches you like to see them faster, and you can even connect it to Siri! I love this app and will have it for as long as I’m surfing! Would definitely recommend!

Needs some improvement. I love the Surfline Premium product. Very convenient to check the surf, have a full forecast of swells, and have a variety of media/content to digest. Usually once every 2 weeks, I will get automatically logged out of my account. There are also some small UI features I would change if I could. For example, when you click the ‘+’ button to add a new favorite spot, the search bar is not defaulted to type. This is small, but it’s just something to keep in mind to make the app navigation easier. Update: demoted to 2 stars because many of the issues remain the same as when I first posted this review. Still get logged out once every week or so.

My view. Just my opinion, but I find the ads aggravating, the non functional cameras disappointing, and the price higher than it should be IMO. I live a few blocks from some great breaks, and frankly have found that, as much as it is interesting so see how other breaks are doing, it just isn't worth the cost to me. Obviously, those that aren't fortunate enough to walk down the street to check out the surf it is a terrific value. Again, I think you have a great web site, and I do like seeing how other breaks are doing, it just doesn't warrant me spending the money.

Unusable for free users now. I’ve used Surfline for over a decade and I’m sad to say the new update has ruined the experience. What used to be a 5 star free app (and an even better premium app) is now worthless if you want to keep tabs on conditions throughout the week. Before the update free users had access to non-premium cams at 30 second intervals with ads in between as well as limited forecasts. While premium users had access to more robust and ad free features, both versions of the app worked wonderfully. Now free users can only use the app 3 times per week meaning the app will often become unusable for days. Also what’s the point of premium and non premium cams now if free users are locked out from accessing anything at all? I’d rather sit through ads than have a useless app on my phone half the week (not to mention you get locked out of the desktop website as well). Obviously this is an attempt to force free users into a paid subscription (which I have been in the past), but after developers chose to intentionally break their free experience to force subscriptions I have no intention of giving them money. Use magic seaweed instead.

Good app. This app is Worth downloading if you are a surfer or just want to check the waves this app is totally for you it shows you every single beach well most of the beaches you can even see the beaches in Hawaii and everywhere else if you don’t want to go down to the beach but you just want to see them it’s perfect and if you were surfing alone and you got a sick wave and no when was there to recording it you can just rewind it onto your phone on Surfline and screen record it and share it with friends I love this app and I bet you will to

Surfline is the worsttt. In an effort time appease the many angry surfers who could no longer view the favorite surf cams because of there new “free check” system, they have made a new system. Unfortunately for many people including myself, some of these cams are “premium” and you cannot view it unless you pay for the full version. I surf at one spot very often, which is the reason I have the app to begin with. Now, this spot is “premium”, so unless I want to pay for a premium membership so I can view the one cam I want to see, I’ll just have to go hoping the surf is good, cause Surfline won’t be any help. The amount of change that has taken place on Surfline’s app is just evidence that nothing they are doing is working. It’s a complete money grab.

Very good. Surfline you rip , having great time, all the tide info the many different swells that can change daily to hourly ,the weather sun and cloudy rain has been surprising accurate I can watch Hawaii surf, calif surf , east coast , etc. I tell my friends how good it is and let them know to budget for the subscription and get the premium account! I have been on surf trips and checked the swell chart , making go out time knowing what might coming. Looking forward to checking cams everyday. THANKS again >keep up the good work Do you guys have a Surfline premium t shirts long or short sleeve ,let me know if you do. ig@jimmydreamsurf. Thanks Surfline

Amazing…but,. I believe that everyone that has used Surfline knows that the report isn’t always right, but usually it is somewhere in the ballpark of the correct conditions. However, the wind forecast seems to be off almost every time at my local. I’ve had days where I’ll check the forecast and it says that the wind is ten knots onshore, but it ends up being sheet glass. I still love using the app, but I just don’t trust the wind conditions. You are better off using windfinder or the weather app

Not as good as before. Surfline has lost many of the cameras from my surf area. There used to be 4-5; now there is only 1. That’s disappointing and limits how much I can count on Surfline. Also, I think their reports are too pessimistic! I’ve read reports of my break that say “poor” or “only go if you’re desperate to get wet” and decided to go anyway. The majority of the time it’s very surfable and conditions are not as bad as Surfline reported. And I FOR SURE hope y’all wouldn’t give bad reports to keep crowds down. That’s a deal breaker. There are many options with cameras to choose from to check the surf. If Surfline doesn’t add more cams I’m going to have to bail.

Surfline is the Standard. Operating an ocean sports company on the Big Island means we need to know the conditions in order to keep our customers safe and advise them on where to go for the what it is they seek, be it for surf, foil, paddle, etc. Surfline is our goto tool! I literally check this site or app a dozen times a day. The team at Surfline provides the best in forecasting, live cams, and a great media feed. Can’t say enough good stuff about the company and the team that provide us the info and insight to run our company better. Big Mahalos Surfline!

Gut check. So much of surfing can be instinctual -- and practicing the parts of it that are counterintuitive can save your life. Knowing your home break is one thing, but research and patience can pay off when visiting unfamiliar breaks. Breath exercises, sand sprints, onshore cardio -- no normal human enjoys such activities. But we put in hard work and we reap abnormal rewards. Surfline seems like it's on this rarefied path that most mixes the casually joyful with the disciplined and professional. Keep up the good work; those of us familiar with what it takes to produce such quality results know it's much harder than it looks.

Worst surf report ever. I’ve been surfing for many years I’ve used surfline for many years. I’ve never been a fan I’ve always used magic seaweed, but I would use Surfline as a back up or just to double check the cam or see what the summary of the Surf report for the day was, which they have since removed but now magic seaweed was bought out by Surfline so you have to pay to use the only accurate surf report which could easily be compromised because now the fools at surfline own it. When its firing, Surfline says that it’s crap when it’s crap surfline says that it’s firing. I would never pay for services from this company due to the fact that it’s so inaccurate. Magic seaweed was straight to the point no opinions all we need is the buoy information and the wind.

So Far so good. For the last couple of months, I’ve been using the free 3 to 5 day surfline forecast. The more I surf the more I like to look at the forecasts the more I like to look at the forecast the more I realize why don’t I just become a member of Surfline and have all the access to all the spots. I’m ever going to want to surf. at least the ones that are listed on Surfline. And I’m thankful that there’s some spots that I love that aren’t listed on Surfline so I’ve only been a member for less than 12 hours but if you sir if you want a Surf more and you want to know before you go check it out.

Surfline Rocks. I have been a member for 20 years. The amount of information, knowledge and understand of what is happening (both near and far) with the waves that I get from Surfline is indescribable. It also lets me see what is happening where my son lives so we can rap about the waves. While I don’t always love the changes to content or format, I do appreciate that Surfline is always trying to improve. Keep it up…. You are so important to so many people. One of the few examples of ways technology has improved quality of life.
