Fantastic. I love the integration with both USGS topo maps ("quads") as well as OpenStreetMap. This has really helped me find my way on local trails, some of which are quite new. I just wish they had a dedicated iPad version and apple watch support too. But still a five star app.

excellent application. After using many other similar applications, I finally ran across this one. Have used it on all of my hikes since then. Now, my Garmin is collecting dust. What else can I say? One happy hiker

Greatness!. I use Maps 3D for trail running after getting lost a few times. Since getting this app, I haven't been lost. Love it. User friendly. I like the fact that I can see elevation on the maps to plan effort. No signal? Easy, download your map before heading out. Saved me several hundred dollars from buying a Garmin Rhino-this app performs the same basic functions.

You fixed it!!! Now it’s truly awesome. Great app to use. Just download the map for the area you need and you can’t get lost. Used it for hiking and motorcycling trips and it was reliable and easy.

Amazingly Useful. I have been using this app for about two years now, and it has proven itself useful time and time again. The GPS is surprisingly accurate, and the terrain models show a sufficient amount of detail. The ability to save offline chunks and plot and track routes is what makes this app awesome. It has saved me many times when the trail disappears under snow or I decide to take a ‘shortcut’ or excursion and lose the trail. It helped me through a 5-day trip in the Sierra range, as well as more day hikes than I can count. It also has proved useful for plotting overland 4x4 trips. Can definitely recommend. Only problem is the step-up structured payment system... it would be nice to just have one Pro version that gives full access to whatever the app can offer. tl;dr: This app is accurate, helpful, and awesome. Only drawback is the payment structure. Recommend for any outdoor enthusiast.

Love the app. Great for hiking!! Many hiking trails intersect with other trails (that may or may not be shown on the map) so I find this app invaluable when hiking a trail for the first time. It takes away those nagging feelings that you may have taken a wrong turn. Hard to make mistakes when you've got the tracks for a trail imported to this app. However a big negative is how complex it is to import tracks. The instructions should be step-by-step and clearer to follow. Ideally there should be an easier way to import tracks but I guess once you get used to it, it's something you can live with.

Best Backpacking GPS Map on the App Store. I’ve tried many apps for using GPS while on long hikes. This one always works well. It’s worked well for years and years. Thanks to the people who make it for making something great.

Great for hunters. I’m an avid hunter and use this app every time I’m in the woods. Makes it easy to mark where my tree stands are, or where I find sign of deer. It is also nice to see where I’ve walked on the days I am walking through the woods.

Great tool!. I use this all the time for hiking and exploring. There is a little learning curve as you figure out how to download maps, plan routes, etc but once you figure it out it is super useful. It even works well when I put my phone in airplane mode to conserve battery.

Love this app!! ❤️. Probably the best 3D outdoors map app for the price. I always download a map before my hikes and they are a great help for any overgrown trails or wilderness areas with minimal markings. I have used this trail many times to help navigate old abandoned trails. The various types of maps make it easy to choose which one is best for your need. Friends always ask what is that cool app on your phone. Maps3D is a must have for the outdoor enthusiast.

Best navigation app. I have used several other apps and this is definitely one of the best. 3D graphics are great and map details are very good. I used it for mountain biking and it's all I could ask for.

Laggy app. This app seems to lag sometimes and has difficulty loading maps in mountainous areas. I tried loading maps while on forest service roads, where I had cell signal, and the maps would freeze and not load as I zoomed in to look for roads and plan a route. I have purchased the full app, so I’m disappointed so far. I’ll continue to use it and hopefully have more success. This should work fine without cell reception anyway, seeing as how it is based on GPS for location, versus cell reception and data.

Way better than On Trail!. I have used this app for trail riding all over the PNW. Easy to use, low battery use, reliable. I have a treasure trove of saved tracks. Love this app! “If you know the trails you will always have a friend to go with you.”

Great Developer. App is top of the line and offers just about everything you would need. This developer listens to customers and their beta testers. I purchased the app a few years back and have watched it grow. Thank you for a great app and listening to those of us who are eta testing the app. Everything is working well, thank you!

Not a bad option.. [Update] My initial review was based on an experience involving a bad connection. Once that was sorted out it actually worked as advertised, though it still loads slowly when tested on numerous internet platforms. Unless you intend to buy the full app (in app purchase) there my be better free apps out there for planning a trip. If you are intending to go all in, I think it is a very helpful app to visualize an area you are thinking of hiking through. I have not used it on the trail, so I can’t add any info about using it in the field.

Amazing, Used for Quilotoa Loop. This app is amazing. I used it to hike the Quilotoa Loop in Ecuador which is notorious for getting people lost. It showed the trails perfectly and was especially useful because the hike has so many shifts in elevations. Being able to see and rotate the 3D map was invaluable. It was also great to be able to track our hike and save it. Don’t forget to download the area map BEFORE you leave home and mark your known waypoints. Other people on the trail had MapsMe which was not nearly as useful.

Slow Map Downloads. The offline map downloads are unbelievably slow. It took about 10 minutes to download 60mb over WiFi. It does not download in the background, which means you lose full functionality of the app for the duration. Large map chunks appear to be around 3gb... so if you did want to download a large chunk don’t plan on using the app today.

Terrific app!. There are many hiking apps out there, and I have tried most of them, but this is the best. Not only does it do a great job in terms of offline maps at varying levels of detail and customizable coverage for each, but the 3D functionality really gives you a sense of the terrain you just can’t get otherwise. The best feature, however is the ability to preplan routes and specify just a few points along trails that appear on the map and themn have the app automatically create a oath that actually follows the selected trails!

Pretty darn good. I’ve been using this app for local hikes and it has been great! Love using the offline features to guide me around new hikes. Planning trips with this has really increased my confidence to try new hikes and find new routes for previous ones. It was a bit tedious at first to figure it out but once I got the plan a route feature figured out it’s awesome! I’d like for it to be able to change colors of track routing if I am hiking the same path on the way out. Also what I would REALLY like would be an easy way to print out my planned routes just in case my battery dies. Other than that this is a great bang for your buck app. It may be less user “friendly” than all trails but once you get the hang of it I really think it’s on par or even better! Also this is the first I’ve seen with 3D mode and that is useful as well!

Great app. I’ve been using this app for years and it’s been on many backcountry trips. Has some great features. Offline maps work great. A++

Planning routes can be frustrating/impossible at times. The app is useful, but like many others it can be frustrating when trying to plan a route. Often times there may be small gaps or sections of unmarked trail between established trails on the map. There is no way that I have found to use a combination of route calculation AND direct path measurements within the same planned route. So either the route calculation winds around an obscure path to connect 2 route points, or you’re stuck connecting a million route points, even on the parts that cover established map trails. Really there should be a setting to be able to change the routing options between set route points, instead of just for the whole planned route. Other features seem great, but I really wanted this app to accurately plan routes ahead of time, and it just doesn’t deliver in that realm.

Doesn’t Save Waypoints or Maps in Backup. I love the way this app works. BUT, I have lost waypoints and your maps have to be re-downloaded after a phone change/upgrade (due to a technical issue with iOS). I was able to export waypoints that were part of a track, but Tracking can drain your battery life. The current version does a better job of exporting tracks, but all my waypoints that were not part of a track are gone when I upgraded to the iPhone 8+

Great App but not intuitive. I’ve upgraded to all the options and having difficulty finding options on the menu. But it’s a great app and has made my off track hiking in Scotland so easy!!

Great help on hikes. Saved me from getting lost a few times already. I almost never write reviews but I made exception for this excellent app. Far cheaper and better than many alternative apps. Only complaint, as many other has noted, is how the app always takes you back to your current location when you click to download so you have to scroll all the way to find the area you were looking at. This is tricky sometimes because you might have been looking at the location of a particular landmark not easy to find on the map in the first place.

Very good navigation app. I would like to begin my review by apologizing to the developer and any potential user who saw my previous review. I was having trouble with some features in the app and wrote the review out of frustration. I was able to fix it by turning on the Compass Calibration in the Privacy Settings of my iPhone 6s. I use this app every single day at work so I rely a lot on it. I’ve found myself sometimes deep in the forest and thanks to the app I’ve been able not only to find my way back, but the safest way. I appreciate the developer for being so kind to me with his or her response. The only thing I need now is to recover all my waypoints.

Misaligned 3D Rendering to 2D contour map. Misaligned 3D rendering to 2D contour map. Is there a way to align them? I can tell the misalignment because mountain peaks should be at the center of contour circles in which they aren’t. Other than that the 3D map looks amazing. However I would not recommend this for hiking because of the issue mentioned. The area I am looking at is Pinnacles National Park in California USA.

(Update) Impressed - needs better search though.. Updated review: I have been using this app on and off for the past few years. The developers have clearly been working hard the whole time. Unlike many tracking and routing apps that seem to be released and abandoned, this app has been consistently cared for. The original review's issues have been addressed mostly as well. Thanks for this awesome app guys! •————————————• Original review: This is a very nicely done app. The routing and map saving functions are really cool. The topography and POIs are a bit lacking. Staring at a trail on the map, I searched for the name and it didn't show in results. I use my old neotreks app to find trails and then this to plot and track the hike. Stuff like shelters and pay stations would be amazing. Please? Keep it up though guys :)

Better than Garmin. We tested this out on a 20 mile snowshoe. My $600 Garmin ran out of battery half way there. This app kept tracking. I’ve been using it now for years. You don’t have to load extra maps that cost hundreds more, you don’t have to bring an extra item, just your phone, the mileage and elevation are accurate, it works reliably without service even deep in the North Cascades, and it is far more intuitive to use. It allows you to plot your own route but has most hiking trails already available. This is better than Gaia, Carin, and All trails. Please stay in business forever 🙏🏼

What a hiking app should be. I've tried many different apps to assist me while hiking. This one is reliable and does everything that I need it to do - and more.

So far so good. Only used this app once, and it worked well. Will continue to explore the different features. I know it can do even more.

No iCloud sync. I like it but if you change phones you loose all your waypoints and maps and tracks all over because the app does not save that to cloud

Excellent App. I love this app, I work in conservation and having the ability to download maps in remote areas, track our movements and understand the terrain ahead is a huge bonus for me. The only thing I would want to see is a overlay option to be able to have all my old tracks in view, not just one I select.

Great app. I’ve had this app for a while alongside with Gaia. I’m dropping Gaia now bc they made it a subscription. I can tell you Maps3D does pretty much what I liked from Gaia.

Great App!. We're new to hiking and have just used this for 3 trails so far but I love it! I love that it's downloaded on my phone so I don't need service to use it. I have found it helpful.

Great detail!. I’ve had the app for over a year now but haven’t had more than a couple occasions to use it. The available maps are of great detail and the convenience of downloading just the area you want/need is great. I love the fact that I can plan my route, switch to 3D, then fly through the route to see what climbs and descents I have in store. I’m a visual learner, so studying the maps on this app make my trips so much safer and enjoyable.

3D brings the Map to Live. I have been a topographic map user for over 20 years. This 3D/2D App is superb! I immediately upgraded to the Maps Plus Package, since I liked what the basic package provided. I was able to find hiking and kayaking places that I visited for many years in 3 different countries: they are perfectly depicted in luxury of details. The support staff promptly responds to any question or recommendation. Maps 3D will not disappoint the outdoor enthusiast, it is highly recommended

Fabulous. I have used this for many years. I love this app. It would be nice in the app description if you told us what Maps 3D pro does that Maps 3D does not. Please reply.

Perfect Solution. Great Application! Downloaded maps and navigation in airplane mode lets you use GPS with very little battery drain. I’m planning on replacing my Garmin GPS with this, after testing on 9 day trip this summer.

Powerful tool with a learning curve. I've used this pretty extensively to map hikes in and around Seoul. Almost always works well, although I've had it stop tracking twice - I THINK because I switched to too many other apps and Maps 3D was closed in the background. I now just remember to switch back to Maps 3D after using another app and all is fine. Perhaps that was even a bug that has been fixed in more recent versions, as it hasn't happened recently. At any rate, two things I'd really like: - the ability to show more than one recorded track on the map at a time. Maybe it is there, but I haven't found it. Like I said, there's a learning curve. - Apple Watch support. I'd really like to see my pace, distance, and altitude and be able to pause/resume recording without digging the phone out of my pocket.

Led us to a better path. Bought this a few years ago when I was doing walks. I just wanted to have a journal of my activity. Back then I didn’t expect this app to continue to update. A combination of factors including Covid made us stop all activities shortly after, meaning I didn’t launch this app for ages. Recently, I started cycling again. I was surprised to see Park-Connector-Network (PCN) included in the map. Yesterday, the app actually led us to a better path (PCN) not shown on Google map. By better, I mean away from crowd (regular pavement) as it is difficult to cycle along narrow pavement with many people walking around. I am really impressed with the data that is made available. The app has way more features than I am using. Again, something within expectation since Singapore terrain isn’t as complex. I should try this app overseas. Have to wait for Covid to become a non-issue first before any leisure travel is possible.

Disappointed in change. My hiking group used Maps3D ALL the time exclusively because we were able to exchange tracks via email. Now, when it is emailed, it comes up with gibberish. What happened? We are now exploring different apps to use that we can send GPX. Also, lately, it’s not been working as well. Very difficult to bring up the map whilst hiking. Just grid lines...so disappointed as I’ve used it for four years now and I have so many tracks in there. Would love it, if it could be resolved. That would be a five star rating.

Awesome GPS app. This is the best GPS app. No subscription plan; it's buy once and done. Maps can be cached for when you're off the network. Accuracy is great and tracked routes can be imported in Google earth.

Great!. New edit: Still loving this app, but I wish it was possible to replay a track. Also wish it was possible to edit the name of a waypoint. Old review: I just needed something to track my hikes. I really like how simple this app is. It shows all the information I'm interested in. I've used other apps that are just too busy and bloated. I don't care about calories, social feeds, recommendations, or what exercise activity I'm doing. I just want the basic geo stats. This is it!! It could be more stable though. Sometimes it seems as if the app freezes. Search could also be better.

Love this app but.... When I first purchased the app it had a satellite view option. I hate that they took it away, it was really useful sometimes. Other than that I love this app.

Fantastic, apple quality. This app is incredible. It's what I've been looking for since the first iPhone came out. Finally someone has executed the backcountry gps app to near perfection. Unlike other apps that have come before, this doesn't feel janky and half baked. Even if it didn't have 3D mode it would still be way better than others. The features are well thought out, the UX is great and the product is polished and high quality. The 3D mode is the icing on the cake and makes navigation even that much easier than using maps with just contour lines. Offline map support works great and you can even choose between different map sources, e.g usgs or open street view. The app is built with energy conservation in mind and doesn't use much power even whilst tracking your route. It includes great stats too such as an elevation graph, speed, vert covered, etc. As an example of how well thought out the app is, you can choose between displaying altitude based on the terrain map that's more accurate or altitude from the gps that's less accurate but useful if you're flying. I can't stop raving about how much I love this app. As a climber, backcountry skier and paraglider pilot this just became one of the best pieces of 'gear' I own, for $5 bucks it's an absolute bargain.

Solid UI, great map data. The map data and UI are both great, makes the app a joy to use. The only downside is there are some iOS features that they have called behind on, like background support, and layout for an iPad screen.

Overall great; usability could be improved. Overall this is a great app for planning and tracking a hike. The ability to view location and tracks offline without a cell signal is fantastic and helped me a great deal during a 2 week backpacking trip to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico, where the boys are responsible for navigating, but having a 3d map of the routes as a backup was so valuable. It helps me during a hike to check the terrain to see how much more uphill or downhill I've got to do before giving the knees a break. A couple of usability improvements would be greatly appreciated. 1) When downloading a map, it would be nice to have the default map area be the area currently being displayed, not the current location. The use case is this: I've downloaded a route or waypoint list and now want to download a map of the area. I choose "Add New Map", and the default region is my current location, and I have to pan and scroll over to where I hope the waypoints are. So annoying. 2) The process to import a .gpx file is cumbersome and not intuitive. Save to Dropbox, then Open the Maps 3D app, then go to Track List, then Import Tracks, then choose Open Dropbox, then Select the File, then Export > Open In ... and finally Maps 3D. It's a convoluted exercise that I wish was easier.

Poor User Interface. I was looking for an app to provide a reasonable user interface for Opencyclemap. Well, this app has the maps but that's about it. I can sort of navigate around so I guess the app does what it's supposed to do but, boy, what a poor user interface. If you are used to the haptics of Google Earth or Apple's own Maps app you'll be horribly disappointed. I could write pages about what's wrong with this app but the bucks I spent for it are already way too much so I will surely not make another investment for nothing. Since I have not found anything better yet, I will probably keep using the app for a bit but as the next best thing comes around I'll be happy to ditch it. Oh my... so sad to see hardly any mapping app with a reasonable UI.

Go to hiking app. Used free for a year, was great. Paid for pro. This week on casual day hike, loaded the app and received error reporting that the map data server was down. Still no map data. Had to reselect default map provider. This is link in white border at bottom of window of saved maps. 5 stars for great app, -1 star for UI / error handling.

Nice off-road mapping app. I like the several different map layers available. I would prefer a layer that combines the features of Topo Map 2 and 3, since 3 has a lot of labeled Forest Service routes, but is low contrast. A slightly higher contrast Topo Map (like ViewRanger) would be nice too. The 3d feature is nice for visualizing trail altitude profile. The track recording features are very nice and the stats for a track are nice as well. The UI is the best I've seen on this type of mapping app. Clean, intuitive after minimal practice, and not at all clunky. Three things that leave me wanting: The biggest thing I would like to see from this app is the ability to store multiple map types for a given region. That way I could quickly switch from Topo 2 to USGS in the backcountry. The next is satellite imagery. Finally, the ability to use different coordinate systems like National Grid and MGRS, with the option to display at the top right under the elevation. Bonus: the ability to import and export GPS tracks.

GREAT APP. This is a great app, love the way it records tracks and the detail of different maps. Great for logging single tracks, just a shame you can’t pull all of your recorded tracks up at one time on a map. Makes it hard to try and join tracks together.

Map app. Great app seeing things in relief are great perspective better on ipad

GPS not avaiable.. I purchased couple a days, until now its now working. Its said GPS not available.can you pls fix it. Or refund my money.

Faulksi. This is the best, highly recommended. Bargain!!!!

WA maps yeah!. This is a fairly complex app because it does a very complex job. It is not an app for idiots that want a simple ‘where am I?’ app. If that’s all you want use Apple’s Maps. If you really want an off road mapping app with a tonne of bells and whistles then take the time, learn how to use this and be blown away. I live in Western Australia and the maps are true and accurate right down to tracks in the highest detail. I highly recommend it, not to idiots though. :)

Highly useful. This is a great app to review the terrain before leaving. Offline also useful for twitching bush bashs, for easier travel...

Better than Mud Maps. Have tried the well known Mud Maps app and this is much more awesome by far! iPods DO NOT have the accuracy of a gps unit so your location will be out by a few meters, depending on signal strength.

Must have for hiking. I have tried a few different apps for hiking and have found this one to be the best out there, I love how you can download the area required for offline use and that it allows you to view many types of maps.

Great for 4x4 driving & helpful when going shooting.. Best app I have found so far for when we go shooting on farms that we haven't been to before. Only complaint is the different satellite download options are geared towards the USA. On the flip side, it's still extremely useful in Australia for creating a simple visual route from & back to your initial starting point. As most Australians that shoot on farms, over 5000 acres or more & in the middle of whoop whoop, know how easy it is to get lost at night. I would love to see more support for Australian maps / topography / satellite imagery. Only lost 1 star due to the fact that most satellite options are completely useless unless you live in the USA.

Great mapping app. Not for the simple tasks but if you need to use a top quality map this app is for you.

Maps 3D Pro. First time I used it said "no detailed map loaded" on a track that was well established on every other (paper based) map of that area. What a joke... careful what you buy on line, there's some serious junk out there. Maps 3D Pro... A big fail.

Mr. Excellent app, love it! It's got everything you need to find your way around in the bush.

Great little app .... I've used this app in conjunction with my iPhone to record and share (you can email tracks as well) various hikes as well as uploading other's walks to be able to follow. Free download of TOPO maps as well. Amazing value and very effective. Thank you.

Amazing when out of range. We were hiking in Victoria and being able o download a section of the map beforehand meant we could check our location, altitude and route ahead. So helpful!

New Zealand trip. Have been using this app for years now and watched the steady improvement progression. I’m currently on holidays in NZ using an E bike which has greatly increased my distant range. I think the route planner is a great feature trekking or riding, also it’s great to know exactly where you are all through the journey. Keep up the great work. 😎

Great map. I absolutely love this app download maps at home. Strap to the bike when out bush. lets me track were iv been and were i am. when i need to find a quick way home (low fuel) i can not worry now. A+

A bit buggy. When it works it’s quite good. But does crash a bit. Lately it is not possible to open a gpx file via any of the outlined methods.

My go-to app. I’ve been using this app for 6 years now. It’s perfect for planning routes and tracking progress. I highly recommend.

Great visualizations. This is a great GPS app. It includes maps both 2D and 3D with partial topographic information. Tracks your trip giving you speed, time, distance, altitude, both ascending and descending. Can export to google maps or other. My only gripe with it is, it's exceedingly power hungry. I know keeping a constant GPS lock is power expensive, but the screen stays on all the time, maybe in an update they could include a way of letting it run with the screen off.

Cool Idea. Still no big improvement this release, slow to download map, slow rendering, gaps between zooming in. Cool idea, in practice, not quite useful

Packed full of features!. This app may even make you a cup of tea..!

Terrific. Use this in the mountains to supplement physical maps. Very useful for visualizing terrain. Love it.

Used to be the best hiking&skiing app. As long as you have an internet connection in the mountains! The maps download function, for offline use, was taken out. You have to sign to another service (every trail) to do so, but just got errors. I paid for it the to be able to download maps. Going back to messy motionx. goodbye 3d maps...

Parfait!!!. Afin de pouvoir organiser mes longs voyages de vélo, j'ai acheté six application GPS vélo. GPS MAPS 3D est le seul qui a correctement annoncé les bons parcours. Facile d'utilisation, GPS MAPS 3D est un outil complet.

Great app for hiking. Great app. Love the ability to load detailed maps offline for hiking. Works very smoothly when scrolling around. It would be awesome if there is a way to invert the two finger scroll direction for 3D view change so that it matches how it functions in Apple Maps.

Great GPS, but..... Great app but isn’t designed for tablets... Doesn’t utilize the entire display on a tablet and can only be used in portrait mode. For some this may not be an issue, but I had hoped to use the larger format display in my vehicle and boat. Hopefully they’ll address these issues in future versions.

Fantastic. This app is fantastic. I've been using it to track my hikes off the known paths and it's great.

Almost perfect. This app is exactly what I was looking for to plan Hikes and to navigate off-line. Unfortunately I had to buy the pro version right away, because the light version was too useless to evaluate. But I am glad I took a chance because the pro version is stable and works well. On my wish list is satellite maps of Canada, please please please. Also it would be nice to be able to use live maps, so that one could switch between map types more easily to evaluate which maps were useful to download. The pro version has no live maps so you need to download before using. Strangely there is a live mode in the lite version, but not in the pro version.

Excellent app. Great app, looks cool and easy to use, could do with Ladscape and full IPad interface. Just love it

Excellent. By far the best map program out there. Offline maps, topographic and relief 3D display, even logging. I'm a hiker and mountain biker and I've tried most of the map apps out there. It needs to be offline for when I'm on the mountains with no cell coverage and it should be able to show me what's around me easily. Maps 3D does that better than the alternatives out there. To be honest this in the only one I usually use. And since I've recommended it to at least 4 of my friends they are using it too.

The Best!. Well designed app. I really like the fact that maps can be downloaded for offline use. It's got me out of trouble off trail, more than once.

Navigation. Super bien fait

Awesome!. This app is more useful than my $400 GPS unit. Easy to use, reasonably priced, and works perfectly.

Would not recommend.. This app is extremely slow on the 6 plus. I would not recommend it at all. Cool features but is barely usable with how much it freezes up. Want me money back. Zero stars if I could.

Artisan. Très apprécié, et facile à utiliser

Keep it up to date for iOS 14. This is a great 3 D map program for outdoors. It compliments your generic gps topo, and hard maps and is GREAT for planning trips in mountainous areas where elevation and grade vary greatly. This is very handy for back country cycling, hiking & mountaineering. Used on Pacific Northwest (BC) and Alberta (Banff) outings in Canada - maps are very good and controls intuitive allowing for great viewing perspectives.

Great product. I downloaded this app to use for backcountry skiing and hiking and it works really well. All you need to do is pre load the maps on the app before you head out and then your phone's GPS will locate it on the map. It's much more user friendly than my friends handheld GPS and if you run your phone on airplane mode it uses the battery conservatively. Definitely would recommend for any body venturing out into the backcountry.

Excellent app for backcountry exploration! 🇨🇦. If you intend on using this in western Canada, particularly in Banff/Jasper/Kananaskis, then this will enhance the experience exponentially. Download maps prior to your trip and then search, plot, track and enjoy!

Seems like a great app so far!. Haven't had too much of a chance to really try it but so far just playing with it seems pretty good! One thing I'd like to see is the ability to coordinates in UTM.

Awesome app. Use this for skiing/hiking/snowshoeing has always been spot on and very robust.

Exactly what I was looking for. Awesome app for planning cycling trips. It's nice to be able to plan trips taking into account the actual distances following bike trails, and the level of difficulty resulting from hills.

Very interesting App.. Nice graphic

Coureur des bois sutton. Excellent gps pour randonnée pédestre.Testé dans la région MONT SUTTON ... Bonne randonnée

Easy to use and as complete as needed!. Love it. It works as described.

do not buy look for free version. Glitchy, maps slow or wont load, corupted, etc. Found free version from same developer which works very good but waste of $6 for this and cant get refund.

Works for offline (no internet) user. Very useful app for me. I bike a lot and the gps really helps for even i dont have sim nor internet connection. You have to make sure you download the map first if you have a wifi so you have permanent map saved in your iphone. I use and rely on this app for my bike routes and for knowing where are the bike routs to get me to the destination. But this app doesnt have a route plan or direction if you need instructions to go somewhere I like this app and didnt replace this app as my bike map.

Just got it. Image is pretty cool! I didnt not have time to try for trekking but 3d looks awesome!

Great App!. I use this app all the time when I go hiking, the only complaint is that it is slow (iPhone 5) and I wish it would have the distance to gps on the home screen.

One of the best apps for outdoor exercise. This is a great app from a responsive developer. Intuitive and easy to use and provides great information while on your route. For example, slope and remaining ascend and descend stats until the goal. I was unsure about the value of 3D until I tried it. The 3D representation is very helpful for helping you find your way on trails that are not well marked. It provides another bit of information, not just direction but also topology. Makes it easier to see where you should be heading. I made a recommendation for improvement for the app (in regard to possibility of manually overriding part of an auto generated route) and the developer was make to me in a day. It is always good to use an app that the developer clearly cares about. Highly recommend.

Maps 3D is awesome. Very pleased with this update! The driving direction map orientation (DDMO) feature is extremely useful. This app has kept me safe and on track in the worst conditions on very dangerous terrain! A must have for any tech savvy hiker/mountaineer!

There are better options out there. Not a bad app; however not great. First, the maps are raster based which means long download times, slow loading and huge file sizes. These days, vector based maps are where it's at. The 3D feature sounds neat but in practise, it's kind of a gimmick and unless you're in a really mountainous area, the effect is pretty subtle. The app has track recording as well as routing features; however the latter is pretty useless for a trip of any distance due to the map file sizes ; I guess you could try relying on live map downloads over cellular but at that point why not just use the superior Google maps? Lastly, support is lacking. It's a paid app and the developers have dropped support for all iOS versions except iOS 7 and have even cited a "new interface". Well based on the screenshots, it looks exacly like the last version. C'mon devs, I know Apple is pushing hard for iOS 7 domination but many devs are at least supporting iOS 6; you can to.

FORMIDABLE !!!!!. Je viens de le tester dans le "bois sale" (Ferland Boileau) comme back track et j'ai adoré. Merci beaucoup.

OK for hiking, not good for longer drives. 👍shows topo trails 👍nice 3D rendering 👍nice post-route infographics 👎limited map tiles - have to be manually switched for a different area 👎up to 45min upload for detailed map over wifi?!? 👎map upload doesn't match the full requested selection! 👎routing not available - only tracks are able to display 👎no directional facing arrow on the map - one has to walk for a bit in order to determine the heading direction 👎ponds, creeks and streams not always visible 👎text is imbedded in maps and not always facing you. (Not driver friendly app)

Great new update!. Great new update guys! I love using this app when we go snowmobiling in the back country. It's great to be able to rotate around the mountain and check out all the valleys before we head in. Keep up the great work. Best money I ever spent was on this app. 👍

Works really well. I never could figure out my Garmin. This is intuitive and works really well on my iPhone6. You just have to ensure that your required map tiles are downloaded prior to the trip. I use it snowmobiling and mountain biking with total reliability to date. Everyone I show it to, downloads it.

Excellent app!. Just perfection!

Great app with quirks. Great off line GPS app with some irritating bugs/quirks: - I only can display one track at the time - it would be nice to be able to display multiple tracks at this same time, - bicycle map appears in download menu, but not in map menu

My favorite of all time. I hunt, I fish, I hike and this is the most valuable app I have. I use it daily, notated what my outdoor adventure. The only thing I would change is the speed with which a map can be downloaded. I need to get them faster and more reliably so that I can prepare for a trip. I'm not going on a trip without it!

Perfect app for off-road use!. Recommand 1000%

Too slow. It is too slow downloading maps, and also, it does not integrate the maps as one, therefore you have to select a map every time you change area.

5 thumbs up!!. Different map views are amazing

Cooool. I will bike the pacific higway soon and i m able to have an idea of the road so excited

Very good outdoors app. I purchased the Pro version of this app and I am very pleased with its features and functionality so far. There are a goodly number of map types available for use and the levels of detail required for various activities are quite adequate. The app imports and manages GPX tracks very well. I’ve used GPS and maps for almost 40 years now and I would recommend this app to anyone who wants a reasonably priced app for the outdoors.

Love it. This is a sweet app for me any ways as a tracker

Awesome. Absolutely love this app. I mainly use it for back country skiing and works very well. Putting way points works really good. Even let you insert pictures to attach to created waypoints. I contacted them for a question regarding app functionality and got a replied within a day. See you on the slope :0)

Amazing. It works extremely fast and precise, best gps for trails I have found

.... J'arrive pas a utiliser la fonction GPS

Map 3D pro. Super application ...

Great app!. Easy to use, great for ATV trails

Haven't been able to get it to work. Deleting thus off my phone. Keeps saying not enough info. If u are on edge of phone service-- like where u usually are when hiking this is useless

Gps. Best app ever, use it for hunting and hiking. Great options and detail!

Good terrain GPS app. This app is very impressive. It is able to display a number of different types of maps in an easy to use 3D format. Other apps I have used give you a terrain map, but this one actually puts the map into a usable and scrollable 3D format that helps you see the terrain as it really is. It even provides a terrain height multiplier option so you can adjust the hill heights to your liking (hill height helps it "feel" closer to the users perspective from the ground). This app accomplishes a lot with many user options but still keeps the UI very simple and straightforward - very important. One thing that needs changed is when i am looking at an area and decide to download the map, the app takes you back to your current position rather than staying where you are on the map. Please fix this issue. A few other issues I have run into is the compass lags a lot, waypoint info often lists the DMS coordinates as a "..." because the display box is too small and also after I have used the app for a while, the waypoints stop working (just takes you to current location) and thus I have to close and restart the app for them to work again.

Very disappointed!. After paying for this app I could not zoom in with the quality show in the screen shots seeking the app. I would like my money back!!

Not accurate. CalTopo or Gaia are far better mapping solutions with hill shade. You can fall off an unmapped 60 foot cliff with this map. It might be ok to get the gist of a several mile hike with fairly smooth topology.

Great app but... I'm surprised to see an update as it's been so long from the last one. Love the app but I'll make one suggestion that could bump up my rating to 5 stars. I want to be able to switch between maps while choosing an area to save for offline use. If I want to go on a hike but the trail is far from any highway or road how can I tell which area to save other than by saving a very large piece of land in a general area I think my hike could be in? It would save a lot of trouble.

Great but missing AW panning. Great program but only suggestion would be to include panning on the Apple Watch.

My first GPS tracking app. A how to video in ENGLISH would be nice

Strong recommend. I use this for the gps requirements for my scout troop, as well as for track recording in all kinds of hike / bike / paddle situations. Love it!

Love it!. Really good app. Love all the features. My favorite is downloading super high quality hiking maps before I go, so I have them when I'm there. And I've found them to have most trails, even semi obscure ones (this probably has more to do with who made the maps than the app, but, the app presents great map source options). I also love the 2d and 3d view options. Out hiking the other day, I was able to answer the question, this is where we are, this is where we're going (just put the cursor over it), in this distance and this elevation gain, and actually see the exact terrain we'd hike on. Amazing. Battery life seems good too, although I've sometimes found very cold weather to tank my ip6 batt quickly. If you're looking for a dead simple app, I wouldn't say this is it. But if you're looking for an app with a lot of features that runs really well and doesn't crash, try this.

Get this app!!. This is the best and most affordable GPS app I’ve come across. Throw away your separate devices and just use your phone. The graphics are astonishingly good and the accuracy is excellent. I’m not a luddite and I found the UI a little bit confusing to do more than the very basics. There’s a lot of great features, but trying to figure out how to use them is confusing. I’ve gone through the in-app tutorials but found that they weren’t terribly useful. A downloadable pdf version of a users manual would be incredibly helpful. Otherwise, a job very very well done. Great stuff! I would recommend buying this as I can only imagine that it will get better and better as they refine the app.

No need to buy a standalone GPS!. I was very surprised with the amazingness of this app. I have never used a "real" GPS unit, so I may not know what I'm missing, but this app was a spectacular addition to my last epic hike. I was able to see the terrain in good topographical detail, and the best part was the ability to download other people's trail routes and follow them. I was particularly pleased and surprised to see how accurate and responsive the location pinpointer was. I was able to tell after just a dozen feet or so if I was veering off course (I was on pure granite for a mile or two with no visible trail but staying on the route was important in this particular case.) A few pointers: You'll want an extra power supply if you're planning on being out longer than 6 hours or so. And turn off Wifi and bluetooth to preserve battery life. Download routes for new hikes before you leave, and spend some time BEFORE the trek to really figure out how the app works and to plan the route. I didn't figure out some things beforehand and wished I had. I could have saved myself some time, energy and trouble on the trail by doing so. This is an amazing app! I'm glad I don't have to spend the money on a GPS unit.

Good mapping. Good mapping software and views. Use this app every day for hunting. Thanks

Still the best!. I just bought a more expensive and well-advertised topo map app. After an hour exploring some remote islands, I was back to using this one. This is still the only app that lets me take a 3D model of the mountain in my pocket, offline, to the mountains! And it's full of other helpful features too: good maps, track recording options, data exporting, and more.

Great app, great maps. I have looked for an app to display the open cycle maps for a while, this one does a great job and with the addition of 3D. As far as the option for keeping track of your speed and route I think could be better and the cursor is a bit obstructive. Should have the option for a smaller cursor like an arrow or something. The option for downloading maps on to the phone for local use is great. Overall a very good app at a very affordable price.

Neat idea, lots of bugs in current version. I really like the idea of 3D maps coupled with GPS, the developers have a great start. However this version is very buggy, here's what I found while browsing various locations. 1. Very hard to pinch to zoom, map keeps jumping orientation (usually 90 degrees) which becomes really confusing when using 3d mode as the maps spin around wildly when trying to zoom in for a better look at terrain. I found myself constantly hitting the reset orientation button (at least I think that's what it is, no app help text) which gets old real quick. 2. For American users, the three included topo map types only display metric units (meters, no feet). One can use the USGS topo maps but they're not nearly as pretty. 3. Some map data is pretty buggy (example - see the lake at Mt Evans, Colorado splashed up against the mountain). Not the apps fault most likely though. 4. Place labels get rendered distorted and are hard to find in extreme 3d (high mountains). For example try find Mont Aux Sources in the Drakensberg Amphitheater, South Africa. It's a peak on the top of an escarpment - making the label smeared and unreadable. 5. Labels are often upside down, and when you instinctively turn the phone to try read them the landscape rotates with the compass making you loose your place yet again. 6. No landscape mode? See VVS. Would be a massive improvement if the app supported it. Just my 2c after playing with this app for 1/2 hour.

Only partially tested. This app is built on wide legs as far as versatility is concerned. I have only tested the LIVE map which requires streaming map data from your choice of three sources. This can be rather sluggish. I checked terrain that I have either hunted, fished or hiked. The 3d function works in 360 degrees using various double finger movements. Data seems fairly correct however while in LIVE map mode the interface can become distorted if your finger movements are too fast or hasty. The downloading of needed trip maps prior to adventures is the best course of action. App contains a lot of nice features with plenty of room to grow. Recommended :)

Plus and minus. The maps themselves are great and has easy downloadable area controls unlike others and 3D is awesome. The other controls/options are kinda funky and take some getting used to. My main frustration is when zooming in on an imported route it disappears if zoomed in close. Kind of important to have when route finding. Also it just lost the ability to download satellite images which it previously had-hope that gets fixed as that's one reason I purchased it.

Best app for Topographical Maps!. Love it. Thank you.

You cannot get a refund for this app if you purchase it by mistake.. You cannot get a refund for this app if you purchase it by mistake.

Great App!. Offline maps (several types to choose from), ability to choose the ares you want to download so you don't use more memory than necessary, contour lines on maps, built in altimeter that responds very quickly, 3D. Everything you would want except the ability to plan a route that follows the actual trail, not a series straight lines connecting waypoints. Get Footpath app for that (only app I have found that will "snap" to trail during planning a route) and export the result to Maps 3D and you have the best of all worlds!

Excellent. It’s a great app🙏🙏🌹🌹❤️❤️

Nothing matching this apps essential features. Here is what it does very well for wilderness hiking: • Allows free topo maps download to memory so a data connection is not necessary when hiking. • It works perfectly in airplane mode. This saves phone battery and allows much longer duration hiking use (many hours) on the phones battery • It shows terrain in 3D with contours, unmarked trails, (herd paths) • From experience, it shows precise position on the map even when some satellites are blocked . • Shows altitude , miles walked ascent, descent , route terrain and ascent estimations. All in all this is a great app, it has never let me down , crashed or done anything unexpected. It has a few livable bugs , but I have found nothing else that covers all of the essential features.

Great concept but poor reliability. It glitches when searching an address and then moving the map, really difficult to save a location , and is very slow. But when it works it’s very cool and useful

Close to being Great. Good app with annoying waypoint organization. I thought the app deleted all my waypoints because they didn't show up in the waypoints tab, but it turns out they're just stuck to the map I was using at the time I marked the point. This doesn't make any sense, and I'd really prefer if I could organize the waypoints in to folders independently of the downloaded maps. I used this hike on the 165-mile Tahoe Rim Trail and being able to zoom out after the trip to see all the waypoints around Lake Tahoe would be great, but since I used separate maps for the different sides of the lake I can't get the overview. I'd also like to be able to delete the downloaded maps off my phone without losing all my waypoints.

No tutorial, No online help?. I bought this app before an offroad adventure, to assist me finding my way back. Granted I didn't have time to play with it much, but what could be hard, just press record and it tracks your path right? Lol when I was ready to look at my path to backtrack and return to the car,y map had 3 straight lines, sort of like a crow flies. I was totally lost and wandered around for a long time until I ran into help. Now at home and thinking that I did something wrong in setting the app up I looked over it with a fine tooth comb and don't see any setting I chose wrong. I am giving this app a poor review because even if it was I who did something wrong, there is no tutorial and no guidance on the developers web site. Update- I just bought MotionX GPS and it works like a charm, AND is pre loaded with a nice tutorial section.

Map of Americus, GA outdated. The Map of Americus Georgia is seriously outdated. The Hospital shown on the map was destroyed out by a Tornado in 2007 and Georgia South Western is a university not a college.

Amazing 3D view. This is a great app especially for the price. The maps are excellent quality and the 3D view looks great. Download maps over Wifi before you leave. Recording my track worked great. Liked the ability to pause when I stopped for a break along the trail. I'd like to be able to see my track info along the way though. Distance, elevation gain, etc. Seem you can only see that info when you save your track at the end. I think it's worth 5 stars now, but add that and it will be better!

Best Hiking App Available!!!. This is a must have for any hiker/backpacker/biker, or anyone who wants to know what type of terrain they’re getting themselves into when they go on a trip. It doesn’t take up much battery life AT ALL, and uses the built in GPS perfectly when there’s no service, which is all the time if you’re hiking in the right places! Great import features, and you can even create Waypoints where you can save photos and notes. Downloading maps is a breeze and it offers more than enough maps to choose from to download. Great app, thank you so much!

Great to have offline maps, 3D display. I used this in the Grand Canyon recently, where it was great to be able to use it with no cell service, after downloading the maps prior to the trip. Most of the hiking trails showed up on the Topo II maps, and the satellite photos were really amazing, especially I 3D mode. I've also used it around home for tracking mileage and elevation profiles for training hikes. It seems to be more a accurate than my Garmin Edge for this. One thing I'd like to add is the ability to merge maps of the same type with partially overlapping coverage areas.

Outstanding!!! 3D Maps. Such a great fast and easy way to locate, track and save your outdoor whereabouts!!! I've used this the last two years hiking/hunting in Colorado. My phone has no service were I hunt, but it works faster/better/easier than our expensive gps units that we don't use anymore! Now more than ten friends in camp have downloaded it and all love it! Would pay much more for this app, and would gladly pay a yearly fee for additional updates, upgrades and keep this app continuing its great service! Your safe, very doubtful to get lost in the woods. 👍🏻⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👊🏻

What happened?. What happened? This app was great and worked great now it runs poorly and doesn’t load….

Great app for record the trails. Good app to record and planning trails, specially with the offline capability

Partially good. The iPhone sides works really well but the Apple Watch’s maps using the app is slow and laggy. Using the crown of my Apple Watch 5 to zoom in or out of the map is not well implemented.

A wonderful update!. I can't fully express how happy I am that this app was updated. The new update is amazing! I've used this app for a few years now (mostly for hiking) and no other app compares. And with this update, I feel that every penny I spent on the original version has been well spent in previous features and all the many brand new updates that we get for FREE!!!! You won't regret getting this app.

good elevation app. I bought this app for bike riding, to be able to pick out new routes on the fly and track as I go. I have my phone mounted on the bars and with this app running it is everything I'd hoped for. Especially nice is the ability to enhance the elevation with a multiplier which makes the hills really jump out nicely and allows me to see what I'm getting into before I'm committed. One bummer is the app is vertical orientation only for some reason, perhaps there's a setting in there somewhere I haven't found.

Fantastic app!. I’m surprised I didn’t learn of this app sooner. It’s great for hiking trails off-line (I.e., where you may not have cell signal).

Best tracking app I have seen. I do a lot of working out: skiing, running, riding &c. This app takes 3D tracks of any activity with ease. Use it for sharing experiences, tracking your training or whatever. Another plus is that it does not have a lot of useless glitz like many competitors have. Recommend. I last used the app for a skiing training run this morning and will use it again tomorrow.

The best navigation app out there!. This is my first ever App Store review, and its for this app. This app is my go to navigation app, along with google maps. I’ve tried tens of other apps, and none beats the value or functionality this app. For a one time $4 fee, I’ve got everything. Features I found really useful/invaluable- 1- offline nav. There are other apps that also offers this, but the value isn’t there. They either ask for a subscription, or their maps aren’t as detailed or as useful. 2- choice of maps. In the states I like usgs topo, or topo map 1 or 2. Elsewhere, topo map 1 seems to be my go to- it has a lot of bike lanes mapped out around urban areas, and the terrain features are succinct. 3- route building. There are a few routing services (mapquest, graphhopper, yours) that you can play around with, and generally they are on point. They have a good balance between directness, best route for your method of going (biking, car, hiking, etc), and common sense (not trying to go above be the highest mountain even if it’s the most direct) 4- search. Search feature/point of interests surprisingly will show up even the most obscure place in remote areas 5- various app settings. All super useful - you can manually reduce gps accuracy, change overlay settings to make things easier to read, all super useful when I’m looking for a no frills app that will make efficient use of my precious iPhone battery. Other apps look and seem clunky that will take up tons of battery, all for a nice shiny look, but with crap functionality 6- recording. You can record and export your gpx file, super useful for journaling and keeping track. All in all, I keep coming back to this app. Other apps seem seductive, but this app does it all and it does it with no fuss, all bang. You guys rock!

Fantastic. What an awesome app. Love it.

ios13. It isn’t compatible with ios13

3D view is awesome. Just wish they would switch / convert their maps to vectorized format

Great hiking and offline topo tool. While I hesitate to say anything bad about Gaia as they have a cool team and seem like a nice group, I've been having nothing but trouble with their app recently. Especially crushes while trying to use things in off-line mode. I found this app recently and it's exactly what I've been looking for. It's actually kind of surprising how hard it is to find a good off-line topo map app. The user interface is exactly what I needed, downloading off-line map areas is simple, and the overall user experience is what I've been missing in every other app I've tried. To the developer, I hope you plan to update this more in the future. I would have easily paid more for this app. You might be under charging.

Not so Awesome. This used to be a great app. It no longer allows satellite view maps and is no longer useful for my uses. Too bad it was awesome once.

Best Hiking Map App!!. I'm an avid hiker, and am out hiking multiple times a month. I have gone through several crappy hiking map app's til I found this one. It seems like the map quality on the others was so-so and you had to pay a fee to get the maps or buy them ala carte. I have done multiple hikes with this app, the hiking map accuracy is great, I love that it downloads the maps to your phone for places where there is no service, has the 3D view, and records my tracks.

Thrilled!. I've just started shopping Nav Apps, so there may be better things out there... That being said, I find it hard to believe there could be better things out there for anywhere near the cost/value. ANYWHERE mapping, with full terrain detail (including full topo-info) provided by NASA. Even the live-mapping (3D) is at least detailed enough to see what the terrain is about to do to you. :) This would be $20 well spent. Instead, you get it for only$2! Oh, yeah... and the offline-usable maps are FREE! (No Cell-Range-Only limitation) I've been thoroughly disappointed a few times already with apps that make a lot of claims, but don't follow through. If I have to complain about this one, I'll just say they could use a substantially better help/tutorial section. I'm having to discover a lot of features by clicking and seeing. But that's what exploration is about, right?

Excellent. Great gps app. Best visual 3D representation of the terrain.

No iPad support.. App works great on the iPhone. But on the iPad, it’s just the phone version. It should be a native app. I bought all the upgrades for the Pro version.

hopes up too high. The elevations for the Topo Map I-III are in meters. I reported a map error near where I ride and we'll see if they can fix it. The error made it look like there is a giant cliff right through the whole front range near Golden, CO. Must be a stitching error. The USGS maps are very old but that's not their fault. At least the elevations are in feet. I'm trying to give the app more of a chance because it's not super intuitive. Eg: If you search for a feature outside the downloaded map it just gives you an error unless you search for it in the New Map page. Surrounding areas don't really load unless you go to the Global Online Map specifically, which I didn't see at first. Maybe it's better for metric countries.

Great trail app for price!. I used this app for the first time the other day for my small backpack trip. I like the feel and simplicity of using it. Helped me out a lot! A couple things that I noticed though that could be better though. Sometimes when I try to move the map around it freezes and it is really annoying. When I forget to attach a picture to a waypoint I later on cant put one from my camera roll. Also, it would be nice if we can switch maps from the main screen with a shortcut button. Besides those things I didn't run into issues. I'm sure this app will improve over time, but for $5 it is a great value considering the other ones out there!

The App You're Probably Looking For. This app is amazing. It's like I have a luxury car's nav system on my bike. The many different map and routing options make it possible to use the maps I need for biking to work, hiking the trails, or just exploring the world through my phone. It's nice that I can download maps easily for offline use, but on my iPhone 5 with LTE, the live maps feature works fluidly around the city for any unplanned excursions. When I'm going to the frontier of no LTE, I plan ahead and quickly download multiple versions of differently detailed maps. Definitely worth the price!

Had High Hopes. I recently purchased this app to use on my hikes. I was intrigued by the 3D part of the app. It's different and fun to look at, but I'm not sure how accurate this app is. The same time I was testing this app I was using another highly rated app that basically does the same thing (minus the 3D part). The other app showed a squiggly line that accurately depicted my circuitous path and gave me a distance traveled number that pretty closely corresponded with that given by my trail guide book. This app gave a longer distance that seemed way too far and the track line on the map appeared nearly straight both out and back. I'm disappointed as I has high hopes for this app and providing it worked accurately, was going to use it as my primary hiking app.
