Terrible ipad app. There is a bug for the ipad app where the magazine just closes repeatedly- very annoying.

Worth the Download Wait. Fantastic issue! Gorgeous pictures! I am on my way to the kitchen after I have savored every word of this wonderful first issue. Congratulations to the developer! Food and Wine just does everything first class and this issue is an example! As soon as my subscription comes up for renewal, after all these years, I am going digital! Perhaps we will be able to convert our subscriptions and we won't have to wait!! That would be great!!! Thanks Food and Wine!

Unable to access app. I have a subscription through Apple until June 2023. However, the app does not allow me to see issues and never moves beyond the restoring purchases message. Please let me know how to fix this. Thank you

Access not available. Not sure what I am doing incorrectly, but the app will not let me sign in nor will it allow me to read any magazines even after I subscribed. Seems like a waste of money to me.

Worthless unfortunately. I'm an avid F&W fan as well as hospitality professional. I attend all the F&W festivals (SoBe, Aspen, NYC, etc) and have several friends who work for the company so I should be biased and give this App a great review, but I can't - it's problematic and illogical. The fact that the premiere "free" issue won't download is frustrating enough (and theoretically fixable with a patch), but to force current subscribers to the paper edition to pay full price for the iPad version is simply short-sighted. Too bad. I was really looking forward to this App and have simply deleted it from my iPad instead.

Love this!. The Food & Wine ipad app is brilliant! I love the versatility of this new app. The magazine format allows for a remarkable depth of content (and a fun medium through which to view it), and the cooking demo videos are especially informative and engaging. As someone who is constantly trying to streamline my day, the app is also extremely efficient. It's organized to appease those who want immediate gratification. You can very easily pinpoint exactly what you want to read (or watch), exactly when you want to read (or watch) it. Innovative, efficient, incredibly fun.

Beautiful mag, slow servers.. This is a real stunner to look through. Gorgeous photography and design makes browsing through the issue a real treat. Sortable recipe lists at the front of the mag are a clever idea, but maybe not as effortlessly packaged as some online resources. This looks like it was built with WoodWing's production software. Their servers must need some extra juice because all magazines built with their tech suffer from extremely slow issue downloads and snail-like streaming video. Which is a real shame with Food & Wine, in particular. They obviously went to great effort to include tons of instructional video, but the streaming speed is so slow, I wasn't patient enough to watch any of them. I'd take a larger download upfront if it meant once I'm reading the mag, the entire experience is seamless. Page scrolling is also a little tiresome. I'd prefer the "page snap" you see in other mag apps like Wired or People.

Amazing!. Beautiful graphics and a slick interface make this a must have app for food and wine lovers. Yes it took a few minutes to download but after viewing the elaborate content it was well worth the wait. The two free issues are chalk full of interesting articles and delicious recipes. It is easy to navigate through the magazine and find exactly what you are looking for. You can always take a screen shot (using the power and home key) to save the content you need. Also you can get on their web site if you want to save a recipe. I use then Paprika app and am able to find the recipe on their website and save it to my iPad. Thanks Food & Wine for an amazing app that sets the standard for all electronic magazines.

Good magazine; book wing takes money w/out permission.. I subscribed to the magazine and the iPad version, and if you don't mind books being ordered for you, your money being taken for books not ordered or wanted, and dealing with a company who will do nothing when it happens, please subscribe. I ended my subscription because the book company wouldn't refund my money when it took out bogus charges, and they still came after my money a month after I ended all ties with the magazine just in order to have nothing to do with them. They refused to remove the charges so I had to fill out a form and sign it at my bank, cut up my card, and get a new one to HOPEFULLY keep them from trying to take my money- they may still be able to take it without me even ordering anything. The magazine wing seems not to care at all that this is going on. It is a tragedy that such a wonderful magazine is associated with American Express Publishing (who handles the books) and lets its name go down the drain with such sleazy business practices.

Subscribe but can’t access account. I subscribe through Apple. But cannot log in, even though it lets me Log in fine in my computer. Even though I’m a subscriber it tells me I have to buy every issue. What’s the point ?

Great magazine. I read all the reviews and then downloaded the app. Five minutes later, I was reading Food and Wine on my iPad. I am absolutely delighted with it! My house has reached capacity as far as magazines and books go, so I am that Food and Wine delivers such a quality product for the iPad. I have been disappointed by other e-magazines. The videos are great, and I really like the multiple ways to access the features. I recommend you give it a try. As for me, I am already looking forward to the next issue.

Hard to manage account. Big improvements in the latest update but I still find it very hard to manage my account or understand my subscription

Be Patient and Take The Right Steps. Yes it's a beast to download, but my lord this app is more than worth the wait! Toggle off your 3G, same with Auto-Lock, make sure you have a good Wi-Fi connection. Start the download and then go do something else, knowing when you come back, you will have one of the coolest content experiences you can find on the iPad platform. There's a reason the download takes long -- it's rich with content, video, recipes, great photos, etc. You will find it WELL worth your wait. I'm a geek and love my gadgets, but even Wired's iPad version easily pales in comparison to this. Food & Wine thought this through really well. Download it, be patient, you won't regret it.

Terrible app. Constantly locked out of my iTunes subscription. Restore function does not work.

Subscription thru iTunes is a Mess. I like this magazine and when I can actually get into my subscription. But there are clearly issues dealing thru iTunes. When you go to support the have a special subject for these issues. I’ve had this problems on and off for years. FIX IT.

Have fixed my access. Have fixed my access, at least for now. I’ll wait and see. I have both the print and digital subscription but the app only recognizes my print subscription and so limits my access to the digital content. Have contacted support but it was useless. Probably an automated system which just kept telling me how to log on.

Access to digital magazines. Terrible app. I have both digital and delivery subscription and can not get digital magazines on my iPhone 13.

Not as good as most other cooking apps. Terrible app. I subscribe to the magazine yet can not open the digital issues. Instead I am asked to subscribe and I already do. I’m signed in so should be no problem. Also if you search for a recipe from a recent edition it rarely is available so I must resort to keeping hard copies. This app really needs an update and made more user friendly. Almost worthless although the magazine is enjoyable.

Do not like the new format. The new format of the app is absolutely horrible, all my favorite recipes went away, and I have 6 years worth of them stored! I am not sure whose idea it was , web news is annoying too , I would rather have the magazine with all its previous bells and whistles , favorites, page review, back button...also can’t make an issue purchase ..

APP ISN’T WORKING PROPERLY. The magazine is awesome. The APP continues to need work. I have both print and digital subscription but I cannons open the digital version without being asked to subscribe. Yet, on the account page, it clearly list my account number and an active subscription.

Loved then hated it. I originally had this app on my iPad 2. I purchased the digital subscription through iTunes directly from the app and I was able to download and read the digital Food and Wine monthly issues. However, when I purchased the newest iPad (iPad 3) and restored my applications I wasn't able to download past or current issues without having to pay again for the issues. I contacted Food and Wine and they suggested I call iTunes because my account wasn't with Food and Wine. The iTunes support was able to credit me my subscription but explained to me that since Food and Wine was the app developer that they should've been able to correct the issue. So, watch out for this serious issue with this app and the iPad 3 and poor Food and Wine customer support!

Noooo recipes!!. I just paid and downloaded the Food and Wine app. I searched for ‘chocolate cake’ and a few options came up. When I selected one it just shows me a picture of a cake with some text… no recipe, no way to access a recipe. What is this app for again? Pictures? I would like my money back please!

Fantastic. Downloaded the app pretty easily over WiFi - this method is the only way to go, as there is a ton of content included and the app is large For a first version of the app I am pretty impressed... The photos are stunning and the video content adds a new level of depth to the magazine experience. As a subscriber to the print version I appreciated the extra content that came along with the Ipad version. I don't think I would ever give up the print version but I am excited and curious to see how they are going to use the Ipad in the future to bring the content to life. I can imagine propping up the Ipad in the kitchen while following recipes or video tutorials (custom stand and food-proof screen anyone?). I'm already looking forward to the next edition...

PAID BUT NO ACCESS. I have no access to the magazines I paid for. No one has contacted me; I just receive notifications that a new issue is ready. I need to hear from somebody.

Amazing. Wow, people, have some patience! Yes, it took a long time to download the free issue and that's something they'll definitely need to fix, but it was 10 minutes that were well worth the wait! What a gorgeous magazine! It's incredibly well done and chock full of beautiful photos and scrumptious-sounding recipes. This is seriously the first app review I've written and did so because of all of the bad reviews from people who didn't actually get to see the product. This is the absolute best digital magazine I've seen yet...by far. Kudos to the developers!

Love it. I absolutely love this app!

Fantastic...until you want to cook!. This app is visually stunning. The graphics and navigation are top notch. You'll get hungry every time you open up the issue. But when you want to try to actually make something from the issue, you'll find there is no way to get a recipe out, much less get a shopping list. I could not find a way to even email a recipe to myself. Are we supposed to take our expensive ipads into the kitchen next to the hot pans and flowing liquids? Take a page from the new Mario Batali app. It's quirky, and some of the features are unnecessarily difficult to find, but they're there.

Difficult to use. I

Consider this a proof-in-concept. For its premiere issue, Food & Wine has delivered a stunning "book" of mouth-watering recipes and gorgeous photos that underscores its name. Yes, this initial issue took a while to download, but this ain't no "fast food." It's nice to be able to savor the planning and the preparation. You get recipes, videos, and wine pairing suggestions that should make any dinner party an instant success. Will I buy the next issue? Probably, if it lives up to this quality. In the meantime, I hope the developers fine tune the download process to speed up the delivery. Fine dining should be served promptly at the perfect moment of appreciation.

Beautiful, quirky navigation in areas. Love the contents and design. The navigation is peculiar in several ways. For example, the app always opens to the first issue I bought instead of either the library or the most recent version. About 20% of the time the app will need to be re-launched after crashing immediately upon startup. Each new issue seems to have a new approach to a quick navigation page. The page that takes you to recipes sorted by staff favorite etc. and separately to wines should be just a tap from anywhere in the issue. Maybe a standardized toc that allows you to choose by article or recipe/wine? More information about wines, even just taps to producer pages would be nice. Cellar tracker integration would be fun. Overall great source of recipes, beautifully presented.

Pure Garbage App. Please look at how other cooking magazines make content available digitally. Food and Wine app is simply a clunky and unfriendly way to view the magazine digitally. Worst app ever. Love the magazine but better options out there to subscribe to.

Outstanding Example. This premiere eMagazine is an outstanding example of the future of magazine publishing. Beautiful photos, touch to expand text and comments, click videos and extras. The display of each wine bottle was very much appreciated by me; a wine lover. The recipes are great. The only thing I wished was to be able to better capture (pressing the on/off button and home button at the same time) the full text of the recipes. Maybe allowing text pinching might help this. But over-all, this is one great magazine. My biggest problem is that I probably won't be buying any more because of what I am expecting them to price it. Publishers NEED to realize that most people won't pay more than they can pay for a subscription to get all these extras. Once the interactive copy is produced, granted at a high labor intensive cost, there are no more printing or distribution costs. There are so many good eMagazines available. I can't afford to pay more than $.99 an issue or a reasonable annual subscription.

No recipe search and organization. The food and wine website allows for direct access to recipes. Please add that to the app. I don’t need the full magazines.

The future of the magazine. I see no need in continuing to destroy forests in order To create paper to print newspapers and magazines. This app on the food and wine magazine give you and equal , if not greater experience with the materials than you would with the paper version. I personally have not had any of the download problems that I see others have had, I can only assume it was an earlier version. So fear not this app. It will be one n your pleasures in life to sit back and enjoy reading it on you iPad .

Bravo!. I am surprised at how elegant this little app/magazine is. Just enough interactivity placed in just the right places. Buttons, links, and digital enhancements are smoothly integrated into the traditional format so that I feel like I am reading a magazine. I like the way it handles recipes (the vertical sliding marker), the navigation between stories and related recipes, and how it lets me make recipe notes. Visually, it is as beautiful as the paper edition. On my wish list? I would like it to be landscape orientation compatible, and I wonder if they could incorporate the page turning simulation used in iBooks? Up to now I have been very old-school when it came to my magazines, buying my Food & Wine from the corner newsstand. This one is my first try at digital magazines. I wondered if it would be worth the price. At it turns out, it is. This was a near-perfect way to start. Thank you, Food & Wine. My setup: the "next generation iPad" (iPad two and a half? Third generation?) running iOS 5.1.

Can’t download. I have strong Wi-Fi and it says no connection try again later. I’ve reloaded the app, restarted iPad and nothing. Had print subscription for years and love the content NOT the app. Super glitchy and buggy.

Love the content, not the app. I love Food and Wine. Subscribed to the print version for years and a couple years ago added the digital version. The app is unusable though. It constantly logs me out, so I have to log back/restore purchases to access my magazines. It is also unbearably slow. Trying to read a new issue on the fly ends up with me waiting up to a minute for each page to load. I decided to just download each issue in advance. It’s taking over 2 hours to download a single magazine? How is that possible? I thought I would just queue a bunch of downloads and leave it plugged in over night, but queuing multiple just results in the app timing out and giving an error message for all the issues that queued. Figure this out and I’ll give you 5 stars because I LOVE the content.

App is good, just hope you don't have a problem. Of the magazine apps, Food & Wine is one of the better designed ones. It's still a bit tedious to get content out and into a recipe organizer but it's far better than most (like Saveur). The quality of the content is great. I think F&W is what Bon Appetit used to be before BA decided to go after the quick and easy food enthusiast. However, if you have a problem of any kind with the F&W app you'll find their "help" is frustratingly inadequate. The F&W help section on their website is nothing more than a how-to for basic setup of subscriptions. It offers no help or guidance in solving error messages. Buried within their FAQ page is an email address to send help requests but it's easy to miss which tells me they aren't really interested in providing support. I'm having trouble getting the F&W app to recognize my subscription credentials. I can't believe this is an unusual problem but the F&W help section doesn't address the problem at all. Even if the problem I'm having is an Apple issue and there's nothing F&W can do to help, it would be helpful if the F&W help section would tell me that and point me in the right direction.

One magazine gets it. First of all, thank you for giving print subscribers access to the app. Many of the iPad magazines require people who already subscribe to the print edition to pay again. That doesn't make sense to me. The developers did wonderfully translating the magazine into iPad format. I really like tapping a photo of a recipe to go directly to the instructions. Two things I'm sure will eventually be corrected. The app doesn't remember your place if you switch apps. Also, it appears that recipe notes don't always save properly. It would be nice If recipes could be printed directly, or maybe emailed as a PDF.

App problems. Good publication, but terrible support for the app. Each year when you pay/ renew your subscription I unable to get the new magazines. Had the same problem last year. Good luck with Support!!!! If you like this publication, save yourself a lot of time and frustration and just get the printed version. F&W is no help, nor is Apple!

Crashes constantly. Latest version crashes constantly when flipping pages of the digital magazine.

Impossible to search for saved items. Horrible search function

Beautiful Digital Magazine. Food and Wine is presented with beautiful photography and design, and is extremely easy to navigate. An initial "how to" page gives the reader the basics immediately, but the format is intuitive, and clear icons throughout make it a pleasure to use. A helpful recipe index, and lots of in-story links made it easy to get to the information I wanted with the least amount of searching. I especially appreciate that digital videos are presented within the layout so that the reader is not taken out of the magazine format when watching video. I timed the download of the free issue over a WiFi connection at 5 minutes. I may be on an exceptionally fast network, but the slow download speed others are complaining about was not an issue for me. I hope future digital issues of Food and Wine live up to this initial offering, and I hope that the annual subscription price is reasonable enough for me to continue to enjoy this excellent iPad magazine.

Wonderful ap - But.... I'm giving this 4 stars mainly due to the fact that you apparently have to buy further issues! As a long time suscriber, I find this irritating - no breaks for us? Yes, it took about 5 min. to download - hopefully, this will take less time in the future - but once I had it on my ipad, it was stupendous in art, etc. I can see using this everywhere - but, I honestly am not sure I would buy further issues - unless the cost is nominal (which I doubt it will be). Hopefully, I will be surprised. Should there be a break for subscribers, I might change the rating to 5 stars!

Love it. Yes this does require some patience, about 5 minutes to download but it sure was worth it. For the first try I say well done. Unlike the fare that has/is available through Zinio this is interactive. I can click on the videos and watch them it situ without having to leave and go to a website. The recipe presentation is faboush much better than print mags where half is on one page or the are together but at the back. Love this enough to buy future issues. Keep going you are on the right track!!!!

Love the magazine. I’ve had this digital magazine for over 10 years. Recently it has be some very glitchy. Currently, I can’t access the new issue or several recent ones without getting a prompt to subscribe or buy. My subscription is good through January.

Cheats. If you decide to download this app and subsequent magazines be advised that any so called free magazines may now cost you money. How will you know? You won't because none of my purchases indicated I purchased them ( even at 0.00) until i hit the buy button. If you are lucky, you'll get a brief pop up that indicates you have already purchased it and if not you will wind up paying. I had no problems with the Martha Stewart app. In Martha's app all my purchases were clearly indicated and I had no unwanted charges. Very poor programming on the Food crew. I guess those "free" downloads weren't free after all. I did go to the Food and Wine web page before posting but could not find any obvious way to contact the app folks. Though they did have this in your face big pop up soon after I got to their website. Disgusting.

Terrific except for the fuzzy print (words not pics). I love Food & Wine. It is my "go to" when looking for inspiration or instruction. I think Grace Parisi's recipes are particularly great - always creative, even elegant, but accessible for a not -so-expert cook (me). I also think having this digital add-on to my print subscription is wonderful. So why 4 instead of 5 stars? The downside is the fuzziness of the print in the digital recipes. The pictures are as clear as can be but the quality of the print type is a disappointment and distraction from an otherwise excellent offering. (I wish I could rate this as 4 1/2 stars but that is not possible).

I have continued problems trying to access new magazine issues. Please help. I am billed every month but can’t accès the new issues. This has happened before and was resolved for a short time.

Digital subscription. I pay for a digital subscription but when I open the app you offer me a free trial or a price to purchase an issue but no way to sign in .. I don’t want to purchase an issue or a free trial I want to be able to log in to my account and see the content I’ve purchased.

Love it. Fabulous to get a magazine I would not normally subscribe to, with recipes uncommon to Australia. A well designed app with good use of video. Only suggestion would be the addition of shopping list function and export. Thanks.

Love it!!!!. One of the best food magazines out there. And the app looks great.

Fabulous app!. Great app for food and wine lovers, I only wish there were more issues...

Unable to access my subscription. I have a subscription, but I am unable to access the magazine, and I don’t see anyway to correct it. You keep asking me to purchase magazines that I already have a subscription for….

Embraces the iPad. I was impressed with how the magazine was put together to utilize the new media - it felt purpose-built rather than just a port of the print format. It was great to be able to meander from an article to a mentioned recipe, then see a video of Mario Batali preparing it. Food and Wine have put together a first class app with well-planned content. My only suggestion would be to allow for download of a version of each issue with the video content included so that I can do that over wifi and avoid the heavy 3G usage on my commute.

Not easy to use. We have a subscription so easy to flip thru digital mag. But, hard to find recipes. No easy way finding on page.

Good content, terrible navigation.. This has all the great content from print issues of Food & Wine but the navigation through the content is horrible and cumbersome.

Not free at all. It does only pretend to give you a free issue

Issue. I'm a Canadian subscriber to both Food & Wine as well as Travel & Leisure. I cannot find another area to voice my concerns so I chose this. Since your latest update I cannot access the Buy area at all all I get is an error. To this point I have never had an issue. I love the magazine & I sincerely hope that you can resolve the issue. Joan

Doesn't work. Quite simply it doesn't download the first free issue, it doesn't work

Great magazine. This app is great easy to use. No complaint as of yet other than feeling hungry after reading it..lol

Great. Love this so far. Works well for me and love the videos.

Food & Wine issue. Nothing free here. It appears to put an issue in the Newsstand however when you go to read it, you must buy the issue. If the goal is to attract new subscribers, this does not do it for me.

Awesome. Great app. Magazine is very interactive. Nice design.

Excellent App. This is an excellent app. It actually goes beyond a print magazine by offering interactive features and various methods of navigation. I think it also makes use of additional photography (all of which is lovely).

Great recipes. Easy versions of great recipes. Excellent wine tips.

Jk111111. This app on the ipad did not work. Tried to install free holiday mag and it failed. Got new app version today. App has popup Saying this app tracks your usage and then says do you agree to the license. I declined as im not interested in tracking and i didn't see/ read any license. Does that mean i can only use the app if I accept trscking?. Also i have yet to get the app to work. Now the buttons in app don't function probably due to my declining. I will delete for now, maybe they will sort themselbes out in the next version

Foody. Great app, all of the recipes close at hand and fast

Won't download ???. Stalls on download.. Bizarre

Great content .. But awful setup. First impressions are everything .. Hopefully, people hang tough through the setup process.

Not perfect, but a decent start. Yes, it does take a long time to download but that's because there's a ton of content. Once installed, the app works just fine. Like many magazines, the creators are still struggling with the interface design. A plethora of interactive options exist, but few are intuitive or clear. The pop up videos feel clunky and added on as an afterthought. There are no sharing, commenting or discussion options, which is a real omission. Having said that, the content is rich and engaging, and the videos, for all their lack of production value, add real insight. If the designers keep working on this app they might well have a real winner on their hands.

Does not meet my needs. Not what I need in a recipe magazine

Delightful, intriguing magazine!. This App and Magazine is just delightful. Great pictorials, recipes are inspiring flavour right on the my screen! Wine details are much appreciated, can't wait to try them in the near future.

The best.. I love this app, it's well written, with wonderfull picture and topics.

Lost all my favorites....yet again. Every time there is an update, I lose the recipes that I marked under favorites. Wasting too much time; redoing selections. Hard copy is more reliable

Enjoyable read. I only recently started reading Food & Wine (mostly due to Top Chef) and I have really enjoyed the recipes and articles.

Great App. I didn't have any trouble loading but it was slow to load. I thought the content was great and that it was easy to use and very well designed. It was also nice of FandW to distribute the first issue free unlike many magazines

Food and wine. Horrible! I am a print subscriber for 3years and cannot get the issues on the I pad. Always shows up as an error. I can't even change the password to retry.

Lovely, but needs work in the nav department. Some nice-looking recipes, but can't view in landscape mode and a little tricky to navigate. The nav menu doesn't come up consistently, but I eventually figured it out! Look forward to more issues and updates.

Great stories. Took a long time( very long time) to load, but once loaded works great.

Food &Wine. What do I know? I'm still using a iPad 1!

Brilliant App. When people talked about the iPad changing the way we consumed media it wasn't always clear how that might look until I saw this Appa and magazine. Beautiful magazine, well laid out, takes full advantage of all aspects photography, video, graphics and, oh yeah, great food and wine. Eat your heart out Wired!

Great app. It is what it is. All the mag apps require a subscription. I was able to download a free issue to preview it and I will most likely subscribe. The ability to interact with the magazine and the Internet is amazing. I love it!

Totally rip off. Why make a free app but with only paid content. So annoying that we can't even access some content. Take another app if you want food&wine information.

Lame. Library is limited AND even if you aready pay for the regular subs you still have to pay for the online issues. PLAN TO DELETE! Deleted!!M

Terrific app!. Enjoyed reading the articles and making a few of the delicious recipes. How can I go about getting future issues for the IPAD?

Food and Wine. Its a fantastic magazine, print or digital. I do wish tho, that we could find most of the wine in Alberta. Also wish the wine club was available here.

Crappy. Garbage

Seriously? What are these other reviewers smoking?. Food and Wine is perhaps one of the most well implemented digital versions of a magazine I have come across. While it may be true that the downloads are large and take time they are spectacular when you have them.

Great magazine. Downloaded easily although take awhile. Good articles, great recipes and like the video content as well. All in all one of the better digital magazines I've seen so far.

beauty requires large file sizes. Downloaded the most recent edition and it's beautifully done. Love the way they've rallied around themes - healthy, holiday, wine - and the depth of content is perfect. For less than a good cup of coffee ($1.99), I got a 40-50 minute adventure in foodiedom. As with other well-presented app magazines, the file size is a killer. Download via iTunes and then sync your device for the easiest experience. Otherwise, start the wifi download and find another task to entertain you for 6 minutes.

What a dud. I'm sure the content is lovely, and very informative, but I haven't the patience to sit thru this slow app in order to see that for myself. Pages take forever to load, and there doesn't seem to be an easy way quickly navigate sections of the magazine. This app needs lots of work. I don't have a subscription to the mag, but it'd take a very reasonable issue cost, and a lot of improvement in app speed and navigation before I'd consider making this a regular perusal.

Crappy Update. Since the latest update, all of the issues I previously downloaded need to be re-downloaded. I wouldn't mind so much except it was like 20 issues. I don't have time to re-download every issue since your update reset everything. It would be nice if this was fixed so I could access my previously downloaded mags with doing it all over again. I like the previous version anyway. I'm not trying the new update until I can access my other mags. My subscription is up for renewal in less than a month. This will definitely determine whether I spend more money. Same thing is going on with my Travel & Leisure app. I'm really annoyed! #Frustrated!

Glitches glitches glitches. I like the app but the download required me to reboot my iPad to successfully complete the install. The zine is organized well but the videos (of which there are a lot!) don't always run correctly and you have to restart it in order for it to load correctly. Also I subscribe to this magazine and would like to see the iPad version offered free as part of the subscription as almost everyone else does.

Excellent!. Giving print subscribers the ability to use iPad to use the magazine is fantastic. This in one of the only publishers with the common sense to allow subscribers access to the electronic version without paying a second fee. That's a smart move in terms of fostering customer loyalty, and will definitely keep me around for a good long while.

ugh.. for the app and the magazine. impossible to use app, and the magazine is not much better.. What used to be a great informative magazine has turned into a mess of a layout complete with absurd recipes using tiny portions of obscure ingredients that will take you 3 weeks to hunt down only to realize how much you hate it. The articles and advertisements all look the same and lack sensibility. I have read this magazine on and off from day one, and will be canceling my subscription. When food becomes more about the ego of a chef and ingredients are simply meant to be manipulated into something borderline inedible it's time to find other sources.

Inexcusably Buggy. I've developed software for most of the world's largest media companies (Condé, Disney, Time Inc., Google, etc.) and I am astounded that this magazine app was deemed by any professional to be ready to release to the public. Getting caught in loops of pages where it's impossible to go back to the beginning, touching on a recipe and having it present that entirely blurry, unreadable page -- it's not like these bugs are hard to reproduce. Mistakes happen, sure, but where is the customer's recourse to get their money back, or their issues addressed? A page of FAQs? This seems plainly irresponsible.

Food and wine digital. Great app. I get the paper version but prefer to use the digital version. Very easy to navigate. You can jump to recipes from content page. Slider bar on the bottom of the page provides a quick scanning tool. Biggest plus--- no need to store magazines ----- favorites are always available in your digital library

Perfect. Being an avid reader of the magazine I've been looking forward to this for some time. I didn't have any problem with the download like some others have mentioned. This is exactly the quality product I've come to expect from F&W. Excellent articles with amazing visuals brought to life on my ipad. Already looking forward to the next issue...

Worst app I have seen. I was excited to be able to read Food and Wine on my iPad, unfortunately the app continually crashes and when I go back in, it starts on the title page. When I say constantly, I mean cannot get more than 10 pages without being thrown out. Navigation is horrible. It isn't intuitive and I am constantly trying to figure out out how to go back to where I was. All of this is rather unforgivable when there Are so many other electronic magazines that don't crash and are easy to navigate.

Great magazine app. This is the most awesome format for this magazine. I've been a subscriber to F&W for over 20 years, and I love this app. It allows one to see the colorful pictures in all of it's glorious, especially now that the print version uses a poor quality paper! I wish the whole magazine will be this in the future! Po N. Lam

Great content! Makes the most of the iPad!. This is a gorgeous, feature-rich app! Yes, a good wi-fi connection is required to download it, and it does take 5 minutes or more to do so, but that is because it is a gorgeous, feature-rich app!! The recipes are spectacular, and the photography is stunning. We own iPads for the purpose of running apps like this one. Did I mention, it's free?!? Hit download, pour a glass of wine, and enjoy!

Awesome!. We downloaded this evening after your fix for download time. So far in reviewing this, it is an awesome app. This should be the benchmark for all other app magazines. Depending on the price charged here versus a printed issue, we may just drop our subscription and read it on here. I look forward to seeing what the app price per magazine will be.

Amazing. After I realized that the magazine download would take a while (approx 20 min), i really got into the issue. I have been a subscriber to the print version for many years, this, however, blows it away. The photography on the iPad is breath taking, the video is well placed and awesome, even the ads are good. At 3.99, as long as future issues are as well done, is a steal. And, no, I don't work for F&W, just a fan boy.

Don’t update if you value your existing library.. Like many other subscribers, I also have lost access to my entire library of F&W. I also called customer service to be informed an email with reset instructions would be sent. That didn’t happen. I called again and I was informed it would be escalated for assistance and I would be receiving another email with escalation details and reset steps. I called a third time to which I was informed the previous email with the rest/escalation steps were to use the reset password “ password”. I attempted to access with the rep on the phone to no success which then caused them to say “Since the update, all users no longer have access to their libraries”. So how about an update or option to roll app back to prior version. All we would like is access to our previous libraries. I have another year left on my account. If it’s not corrected, there will be no reason for a renewal.

Unconscionable. I have never reviewed an app in my life because I usually only the buy the cheap ones or the free ones. Every other app I use works better than this. It is not worth the money. I would rather collect all the print magazines like i used to. This app is terrible to navigate. I constantly bounce from story to recipe and when I try to return it crashes. The most frustrating part is that the issues only download when you are actively looking at the download screen. You can't let your iPad rest or god forbid toggle to another app. If I didn't love the content I would give this zero stars.

Got us set up. We had similar problem as many others—couldn’t access past or present F&W issues digitally. Called publisher, they referred us to ZinioPro. A few emails back and forth and we now have access to back issues and just got April issue on iPad. Zinio support staff very responsive and quick turnarounds. Glad to have F&W going again—let’s eat!

Horrible app. While I have always liked Food and Wine magazine, this app has gone from very bad to impossible. Nothing makes sense, it is practically impossible to read an article, it has the worst navigation imaginable, and to boot there is some ridiculous feature that makes you pause every 2-3 pages and make an extra unclear swipe just to get you to pause and maybe notice one of the 30,000 adverts. I work in marketing, but this is so annoying I 1) want to make a list of every advertiser that uses this feature so I will make certain never to purchase one of their products and 2) I've utterly stopped reading this magazine and won't do so again. Seriously, it's that awful.

Great content, but yes, it's slow. Like many of the reviewers, I had trouble downloading the first edition. In the end, I just tried to choose a quiet time. It was worth it though, my wife and I love the content. One suggestion; it's hard to see quickly where we're at. How about page numbering? Keep it up.

Needs improvement. I wanted to download the October 2011 issue--it is not available. Also, I would really like the capability of just downloading certain recipes from the various issues, and not have to download the whole issue. Lastly, I pay for a print subscription, why would I pay additional money for issues I have received in the mail? I thought this app would help rid my kitchen counter of the clutter of all these magazines. The app has promise, but needs work.

More than just a digital version of the magazine. I kind of expected the F&W app to be just a digital version of the print magazine, but they pleasantly surprised me. Their photography looked even more beautiful on the iPad than it does in print and there were plenty of extras, my favorite being a video lesson from Mario Batali on how to make "butcher's ragu." My biggest criticism is that I occasionally found the navigation a bit non-intuitive.

A++. This app is exactly what I have been waiting for. Yes it takes a few minutes to download the magazine but it is worth the wait. If you bought the magazine at the store you would have to wait to get home to read it. Can't wait for more magazine apps like this. Sets the bar high.

Great Magazine App. This is what I have been waiting for; in fact, I am now a subscriber to F&W after canceling my print subscription. Overall, a great experience and love the flow and how recipes are organized with a one touch button....but the app could use a few minor adjustments such as the ability to cut and paste, activate the hyperlinks within an article but these are minor.

The new app could not be worse!. The old app worked perfectly and no problem, the new app that was updated the week of January 10th could not be worse and doesn’t work at all. Customer Service told me uninstall and reinstall and still doesn’t work! Now waiting for a new brilliant idea to see if we can get it to work. I still can’t see my magazines, I have done EVERYTHING customer service has told me to do and no luck! I pay for a subscription to read the magazine on time, not back issues! The new app is a TOTAL DISASTER! I have problems with People, Food and Wine & EatingWell and all three magazines committed the exact same error to hire Meredith Corporation for their new app. They should have stayed with the old app which worked perfectly!

My Issues are Gone Too. Initally I couldn't download the December issue--called tech support and they confirmed my status as a valid print version customer and recommended that I delete and reload the app. When I did that, all the issues back to June disappeared (that may have been when I resubscribed). The exact thing is happening with my Travel and Leisure subscription. I've written several messages to email support with no response. Am getting pretty frustrated. I'm sure it is not an issue with the magazine, but with the iTunes app as I had my husband download the Food and Wine app on his Kindle and all the issues popped right up ready for download. Come on Apple--get a fix out there.

Everything it should be. I bought an iPad to transition to electronic magazines, thinking that Gourmet would deliver. Their product is the electronic version of "Hemispheres" and belongs in the seat pocket of an airplane. Thank you Food and Wine for actually understanding what iPad magazine really should be. This is right on. One request though is to add a way to clip recipes and save them to a "favorites" folder. Also enable cut and paste in the event you want to print something. Keep Winning!

The Healthy Issue is here!. Like a few others have experienced I was privy Apple's accidental pre-release of the Healthy issue and it gave me the holiday issue when I downloaded it...but all is thankfully solved and I was able to download the Healthy issue on it's actual release date (today)! It's full of fun interactive features like a quiz and the amazing 4-Week Diet Plan! This issue will help me get ready for bathingsuit season!

Love to cook. I was surprised how much I loved this app. The photos are mouthwatering and gorgeous. The recipes were easy to follow and varied. They included ones that you would make for special occasions as well as those that you could make every day of with ingredients that are in most kitchens and pantries BUT all the recipes would impress Thank you for giving me more knowledge about and more fun with my favorite hobby--COOKING! Til our dishes meet! Happy Cooking!

Have your cake and eat it too. I love this app! I'm a print subscriber and I love having the interactive options when I want to dig into the app. It depends what mood I'm in. Print is great on a lazy weekend morning and the app is great for weeknights when I'm looking for specific recipe inspiration. Don't change a thing when it comes to format. Keep the app layout just like the print version, advertisements and all. Love the "shrink and quick scroll" feature. All Class F&W!

Good but not great. The rendition from the magazine is great and being able to pull up information on each page is fantastic. The pictures are sharp and the information is great. However....unless you delete each edition after you are done, your memory get chewed up in a big hurry. If you delete the edition, the recipe that you bookmarked also goes bye-bye. Also, it would be nice to be able to print the recipes from the iPad. Being able to do that would merit another star.

Huge but good. As others have said, it takes a while to load up the magazine file...it's huge. Once installed the magazine is visually brilliant and designed very well. I appreciate the embedded links to show recipes or demo videos. Given the massive amount of data with these magazines though I'm not sure if the app expects me to keep them stored locally on the iPad or if they sit in the cloud when I'm finished with them. Each solution has drawbacks.

What takes the pictures so long to display?. Yes the issues are slow to download. I could live with that. It's beautiful and the articles are good, but OMG the navigation is aweful! And don't try to browse since every page takes 5 seconds to display. Each page is blured and then takes forever to focus. What gives? And how do you get home or back to the index? Needs real work. Lots of potential, but needs to be free until the get it right.

A true step towards interactive reading. Here is the rub: Most magazines lack a intuitive navigation flow to for its users. We have the mechanism for organic use but not the correct formula to optimize it. The majority of magazines lock users from exiting or reaching the main content navigation bar. It gives you that feeling like when your trying to exit from the supermarket. Food & Wine has created an interactive and organic navigating flow for its content. I have used the majority of magazines apps and am intrenched in the ease of navigation of the application that is coupled with hot points for wines, receipts and movies. Overall I am boiling with anticipation on how it will improve this flow in the future. My final thoughts... " You... Your good..." Enjoy All

Great change. No problems restoring my purchases, and it is now easy to browse the recipes because the back button allows you to return to the recipe summaries at the front of the magazine. Hopefully next version will improve on the "favorites." Would be great if favorites were organized by category (like your cook books) so you could easily peruse recipes rather than a laundry list. Keep listening to subscribers, thanks!

Poor release. Requiring to download all issues again. Get real. The first time it took an inordinate time to download and to expect a second ordeal. F&W needs to hire real developers if they expect to be a contender . Price of admission is reliable downloads and multiple downloads without constant attention. Will try in a day or so, but if downloads of already purchased are not available F&W is down the flusher. New "features" are worthless without solid foundation.

So much better than the other food apps!. Yay! Just downloaded the F&W Healthy Issue that just came out this week after a recommendation from a friend, and was NOT disappointed. Looks like whatever bugs were being reported last month, are all fixed! The recipes were fun and rich (despite the "healthy" theme) and the images were fantastic! I generally don't buy apps, but at $1.99, I couldn't pass it up. Hope you guys are smart enough to keep the price low.

Once I got my password. Once I got my password from the F&W folks figured out it works fine. I was able to link my subscription to the app and it is even better that the magazine with a lot of neat features like videos on how to make recipes as well as the recipes themselves. You also can make your own notes about the recipes. If you enjoy the magazine you will really enjoy the app. If you are jsut looking for a free way to read the magazine not sure this is for you. I do not work for or with F&W, just enjoy the magazine and now I can read it easier on my iPad.

Still the best magazine app I have. I have several magazine subscriptions, but this one has the best interface out of all of them. It's interactive, easy to get around, has things organized in a way you could never have them with the paper copy. Great content of course, but if you are buying f&w mag, then you already know that. Big thumbs up from moi!

March 20th/2.3 Version broken. As what others have pointed it there is a major flaw in the newest update. I can no longer sign into my account. Assuming I may have forgotten my password I attempted to click on the "forgot password" link only for it to not work. I'm now wondering how one manages their account if you can't access it via the app as it doesn't look like there is an alternative web portal to do so. One thing to note for those having the same issue. You can still d/l issues (at least I can) without having to sign in but it seems to not keep them on the iPad for a certain period of time. They seem to go to archive as you to have to d/l again once you log back in.

What Happened?. This app used to be the best magazine app, in my view, out there. There were links for all the recipes on the recipe index where I could just tap on it and the app would direct me to straight to the recipe. Now, the app version is just a scanned version of the printed version. No links on the recipes and when I try to scroll through the pages, it doesn't indicate what page number I am on. So, it takes forever for me to find a specific recipe. I find this incredibly frustrating. It is a useless app. I am going back to reading the printed version.

Too many problems. I'm very disappointed because I was really looking forward to reading Food & Wine on my iPad. But the free issue took way too long to dowload. The content was nice and the photographs lovely but after trying to download a video, not only did the video freeze, but all my videos stopped working. Apple support had me delete all the videos & associated apps and then I reloaded the OTHER apps (not this one) and am back in business but still have to download videos again. So I won't be back for more. To

New app is abysmal. Love the magazine and recipes, but the new app is abysmal. 1) They've removed the favorites/bookmark feature and now not only can I not mark recipes I want to make, but I've lost all my previously saved favorite recipes. 2) The app doesn’t remember where you left off reading the magazine and you have to hunt for it. 3) The app hangs on startup if there’s no internet connection or a weak one since it wants to load articles from the internet, even if you just want to read the magazine you’ve already downloaded. Very frustrating. I paid extra for the digital subscription, but this latest update makes me not want to do that again.

WELL worth the wait. Magazine reading was one of the main reasons I purchased the iPad, and the Zinio app is a good start however for the most part it's a glorified PDF reader. The Food & Wine app reimagines the magazine and optimizes it for the ipad with high-res photos, video & interactive options. I had some problems downloading it initially but they seem to have compressed the downloads now. If you tried to download it previously, I'd give it another try.

No current subscriber login. I was so excited to get this app, thinking I would finally have some room in my magazine basket and get rid of all the mags i currently have. Unfortunately i've been stuck on the free download for days now and worst of all this app will NOT replace my mags. Waste of a download. All mag apps should include current subscriber credentials, otherwise it's a waste! Folks don't have patience or $$ for double dipping, which is essentially what this is. Be fair to your consumers mag companies, design apps to encompass your already paid subscribers.

Total Waste of Time!. What a pure and utter waste of 45 minutes of my time. Downloaded the app with the mistaken notion that print subscribers would have digital access. Well if you want to pay full retail for the magazine the second time around you get digital access. Thanks but I will stick to the magazines that offer both at one subscription price. In addition, after registering on the app I tried to log on and simply gave up after my 5th attempt and getting the error message that authentication failed. I can't do business with companies like this-I will also be canceling my print subscription when it is time to renew. I would have given this zero stars if I could have. I highly recommend the Bon Appetit app.

Needs UI work. Adding to the chorus, the download time (even for video content) is unacceptable. But moving on. More troubling, especially for a magazine with such rich photography and clean, intuitive print layout, is the clunky navigation style. You can literally go every single direction in one story: left, right, up and down and then left, right, up and down INSIDE of one of those pages in an embedded frame. I had to pull up the page navigation tool at the bottom just to figure out if I had left an article. Want to watch a video? Sure, but you have to rotate your screen to the counter intuitive portrait mode and...oh sorry the app crashes. So, no you can't watch Mario Batali cook. I REALLY wanted to like this. I love the magazine and it's on my coffee table right now, but it should have no fear of being replaced by it's electronic counterpart. I think it's back to the drawing board and into user testing again.

Best depth of content. This is one of the best apps on iPad! The content is superb and the amount of info you can obtain is top notch. The only thing I wish you could do is print or email the recipes that are being provided (at least I didn't see a way you could). Other than that, amazing!

Brilliant app. This app is wonderful -- it really takes advantage of all the features of the iPad by including beautiful photos, videos, and different layout options. The whiners complaining about the download time need to get a grip. It didn't take even 5 minutes over wifi, and it was well worth it.

Drops earlier issues. If you have had an extended subscription to F&W, DO NOT UPDATE! The new app dropped my access to about half my library. They say they’ll work on it, but it would be better to wait. Issues now do not seem to be truly downloaded, but exist only as links to their server. (What happens to the issues you already paid for if you stop your subscription?) This is second update I’ve been through with them where they’ve had this kind of screw-up. Makes you wonder why they pay so little attention to whether a new app really works before releasing it.

Concentrate on food and wine. I just downloaded this app so I could look for recipes, since you DO NOT ALLOW ME TO SEE ANYTHING AT THE WEBSITE IF I GO IN FROM MY BROWSER. The app doesn’t even offer me a search option, just a list of recent issues I can view. I have the print issues. I’ve been your customer for years. I have 2 suggestions, 1. Spend more money on a reliable firm to manage your website, website access, membership. 2. Concentrate on food and wine and less on swanning around the globe showing us how cool you are. Keep in mind, face the fact...you are unable to provide a working website or an acceptable app
