After 3 months review.. This App is good and bad. It does some things great and some things awful. The great: As a vocabulary learning tool, it does fantastic. Your ability to learn vocabulary through the lessons is very good. The beginning lessons are fantastic. You learn so much so fast that you think you’ll reach fluency at this pace, then something happens. Introduce the bad. The terrible: At some point this app tells you that you know say 300 words. But then the lessons start using words in the example sentences you’ve never heard or seen before. They are testing you on the 300 words they say you know with hundreds of words in sentences you’ve never even seen. The tests have unknown words so you’re left getting frustrated. The grammar lessons at a certain point, do the same thing. This app at some point starts treating you like you know way more than you do. It’s a great app and I avoid the grammar lessons to avoid getting frustrated with the app and basically use it to reinforce vocabulary. I skip the grammar lessons and concentrate on the vocabulary lessons. This app will give you knowledge. But honestly, I couldn’t care any less what the name of singular, masculine adjective, split pronoun, with a past participle adverb hugging preposition is… really, who cares about this technical mumbo jumbo.

Busuu is a great app. Over time, I have tried most of the language apps; Rosetta Stone, Babbel, Duolingo, Drops, etc. Busuu is the best of all of them in most ways. The language level evaluation is great for those that have some understanding of the target language but are not sure of how to rate themselves. The goal setting of a “lesson plan” helps to keep a person on track. The words taught and dialogs are very practical to what a person might experience in everyday conversations. Grammar is integrated into the lessons every few lessons. It is helpful when grammar is spaced out like this. Every so often, there will be an assignment of writing a short paragraph on a subject in the target language. This gives practice using what has been taught. You are graded by others that are also learning, and grade others on their writing skills in their target language (with you having a best understanding of your native language). The only small weakness I find with Busuu is that the grammar review after the initial lesson is not as good as with Babbel. I am doing exercises at B2 level in German and the only “practice grammar” that I ever get is on the accusative case. On the other hand, the vocabulary practice is done exactly right. It uses something like the spaced repetition that Anki and Quizlet use.

Limited functionality with voiceover screen reader. I just tried this app on the recommendation of a friend and I like what I see for the most part. I did the placement test and while it worked mostly, the put the words in order questions and other similar ones do not work with the voiceover screen reader. Also anything that depends on a picture to determine what you need to say when you fill in the blank does not work with a screen reader. The questions that are putting words in order or similar could easily be resolved by having the tiles which display the words be labeled properly so that voiceover recognizes them as controls it can interact with. The pictures could be sorted out by including a caption describing in English what they portray. Please consult apples accessibility guidelines for more information on how to improve accessibility for all. This app looks really good, and if these issues are corrected promptly I would not be opposed to paying for the premium version, but as it is now, I would have limited effectiveness from this app since a chunk of the questions are not accessible to me.

This app really makes learning fun. I joined last month and have already finished one level of French, which was a review since I had taken French in high school. I love that the platform is collaborative and native speakers in the language you want to learn correct your errors and you can help & correct those trying to learn your native language. Very cool. And there is a nice mix between written and spoken lesson options. I’ve tried several language apps and this one is my favorite! There are definitely some glitches that need to be resolved. The scoring is odd and you get double points than expected with reviews of flash cards. And it is not intuitive that you need to remove vocab words from your vocabulary list to not have them continually repeated in your quizzes and to generate different flash card quizzes. And the test I took for French A1 was odd. There was more fast spoken French than there was through all the lessons. Thankfully, there is an option to slow it down. It seems like there should be more fast spoken French in the lessons, if that’s how you will be tested. Also, there was vocabulary in the test that wasn’t taught, or if it was, it was just in passing. It seems like those words should be included. Also, I wasn’t able to take the test on the app - and that wasn’t really clearly indicted in the app. But overall, it is one of the better language learning platforms I’ve used and I like that features keep being added.

A very complete language app. Of all the language apps I have tried, I find Bussu to be the most effective for my learning style. I am near 100% through all of French and have started Spanish and Chinese. I like how the lessons correspond to the A1-B2 levels of CEFR (Common European Framework). It would be nice if the Chinese lessons would correspond to HSK levels. It would be nice to always see the pinyin alongside the Chinese characters, but you can easily toggle back and forth. Lessons for A1-A2 are well developed and consistent for most Latin-based languages. However, content starts to slightly diminish with a few errors once you get into the later courses B1-B2. If they can be more consistent, provide more content, and fix these minor glitches—I would give this app 6 stars! After 18 months, I have reached an intermediate level of French using the app as my foundation for grammar and basic vocabulary (I have not used a textbook). I plan to use this app for many years to come. Definitely worth the value!

Brand New User. Hello, I just found this app about a month ago, but I didn’t really interact with it till about 1 week ago when I allowed the notifications to appear. Once I started getting daily reminders and started following the lesson plan, my language ability (Chinese) quadrupled. I had been watching Chinese drama’s with English subtitles for about 5 months to get use to the different sounds/tones. I could recognize a few words just from repetition, but if the subtitles were not correct it was useless. After downloading several apps that offered Korean (also learning) and Chinese I found this was the best one for me. The lesson plans are straightforward and with the way it’s set up it really makes it easy to learn. In addition to the lessons, you can make flash cards to practice your vocabulary/learned sentences, practice your writing in pinyin or hanzi. You are also able to retake lessons or quizzes to help you refresh, as much as you want. I’m only in chapter 4 of 14 for Mandarin beginners, but I have already learned a lot. I can recognize and understand many sentences in my Chinese drama’s, I can point out and understand some of the hanzi if I am using Chinese/Mandarin subtitles for English speaking shows, etc. I decided to upgrade to premium after using the free version for a week (wanted to support the app makers) and hope to continue progressing rapidly. If looking for a language app I would highly recommend this one!

Addictive and helpful. Two weeks ago I knew only a handful of phrases of German that I’d memorized as a child. I have now worked steadily through the first level of Busuu German level one, taking copious notes, and I’m very pleased with all the vocabulary I have picked up, all the grammar I have mastered, and the friends from around the world I have made. I’m amazed at the complexity of the sentences I am able to construct within such a short time. Granted I devoted more time to it than would normally be possible. I have neglected some household chores and Facebook friends to study in every possible spare moment (before and after work). It’s terrific to be part of an international learning community. I appreciate the input and enjoy helping others. It’s great to get tips and encouragement from native speakers. I’m also planning to brush up on my other languages sometime for fun. It’s nice that that you can learn more than one language with this method for no extra charge. There is sufficient repetition of key concepts and vocabulary that they stick but not so much that it gets irritating. I think the pace is good. I think the concepts covered are good. I’d like to have learned some of them earlier (eg the endings of adjectives-which have not yet made an appearance) but it’s good to have that to look forward to. There’s a good balance of aural and written language. All in all I’m very pleased with this app and would recommend it.

Amazing experience!. I’m a certified language teacher, and I’ve always gotten questions from students and parents about what is the best app to help with their language studies. I had tried two other super popular language learning apps, but rediscovered Busuu a few days ago (ironically, it was a student who recommended it to me!). I was instantly amazed and already recommended it to two of my friends. It has quickly become my favorite language learning app, not just because of its highly-customizable courses or the fact that it’s levels are aligned with international CEFR ratings for easy reference (i.e. A1, A2, B1, B2, etc.), but also it’s infusion of highly relevant cultural references, it’s modern interface with actual videos of speakers… but best of all, the inter connectivity of speakers in a global network. I have nothing to complain about with this app and and everything to praise. Now I have a solid answer when someone asks me what the best app is to help them with their studies. I still have many more people to recommend it to. And to whoever created this app: Bravo!!! Wow!!!

Best Language App Out There!. I just have to say bluntly that this app is incredibly effective and beneficial. No matter the language you are learning, it teaches you actual grammar concepts and how to use them, which I find remarkable. As far as I know, no other language app on the ’App Store’ teaches you a language in that amount of detail. I am learning Japanese on ’Busuu’ and I find it amazingly helpful and effective. I have tried a number of language apps to learn Japanese and apps specific to learning Japanese, and none match the matter of excellence and quality this app brings. I have yet to complete the Japanese course, but I have tried out a few of the last lessons on the Japanese course, and the Japanese they are speaking are actually very advanced, even for English! The dialogue even expects you to know what the people in the text are saying, without Rōmaji! (Rōmaji is the Latin aid of Japanese words. Example: ‘たこ’ is ‘Tako’ in Rōmaji, and ‘Tako’ means octopus in English.) This app really leads you to having an advanced foundation and in some cases, I believe can lead to fluency! I highly recommend this app and have had so much improvement in my Japanese! This app makes you actually ”want” to learn a foreign language and this app makes it easy by giving you bite-sized lessons! I really enjoy this app and am looking forward to seeing what other amazing things I can say and do in other countries, all from the help of this app!

THIS APP MAKES LEARNING ADDICTIVE. i’m a native english speaker and i’ve tried multiple apps in an attempt to learn japanese since my dream has always been to open a bakery there, with a certain owl app everyone’s been booing in this reveiw section it was overwhelming and much more difficult then it should have been, the lessons were random and didn’t start at the basics,i barely ever finished a lesson since it was so overwhelming. but two days in to this app i’ve already surpassed daily goals 225 stars out of my 20 star goal, gotten to chapter 3 and i can’t stop myself from being excited throughout school thinking about opening the app on the bus, it’s super easy and the lessons are structured well. little encouraging hints and explanations they have before and after each lesson are so helpful. the lessons are easy to follow and don’t stress me out at all, not being able to afford the premium also doesn’t slow down my work speed since it still allows me to complete lessons with the exception of just an add before the lesson start!!! it’s repetitive and makes memorizing easy with short lesson clips and pictures! i love this app so much i really suggest getting it!

Best language app I’ve used. I have used my fair share of language learning apps but Busuu is the app I stick with. Its key feature is having interactions with native speakers from day one. Honestly, plain old humans are a better way to learn language than AI grammar bots. You will make mistakes and sometimes sound non sensical but it’s okay because the community is really nice and everyone helps one another in learning languages. Busuu introduces concepts and new words in bite-size fashion. So that you’re making progress at a steady rate. In the dialogues, I feel like the ratio between “I’ve learned this stuff” and “let me try to figure out this other stuff” is good so that it never feels overwhelming. As mentioned above, interacting with native speakers helps tremendously in learning a new language and that makes Busuu stand apart from other apps. Will Busuu help you achieve an intermediate or advanced level on its own? No, but in addition to language tutoring sessions, flash cards and a textbook it will help a lot in your language journey from beginner to intermediate. So, yeah, in conclusion, I think the premium version is worth the money.

Impressed. What I really like, and feel is unique to Busuu, is the way you are introduced to the community and community interaction. I’m not a person that necessarily loves learning languages. With other apps the learning is very much one way and you can join the community if you want for extra support. But it‘s not built in like with Busuu and especially important, is that you can help others! This does two things: 1) it connects you with others, and shows you others are learning and making mistakes…just like you and 2) it can be a confidence booster when you go in and review others as you switch roles from being the learner to being the expert. Especially after lots of mistakes or tough sections this is welcomed. Busuu has all the other things I like in an app; the explanations are good, you can log in and accomplish what feels like a lot in a short period of time. You can easily accomplish lessons in between tasks. Some other apps, the lessons are too long that I always feel I can‘t get to them unless I really have time to sit with it. Here I feel it‘s very fast and easy to get into the app and directly into learning.

Excellent Language App. I am studying Spanish through Busuu. I signed up for the premium year-long service and love it. I can review lessons as many times as I need to before moving in to the next lesson. This means I can really learn something well before learning the next lesson, so I am confident in what I have learned so far, before moving on to the next lesson. Very helpful. They use a variety types of exercises i— verbal, fill in the blank, and pick the correct workout or word order to make a sentence. This variety helps you retain the lessons well. I can also move on to a lesson ahead, if I want. For instance I wanted to learn all of Estar conjugations and then all of Ser conjugations, but the lessons are broken up this way: singular Estar, singular Ser, plural Estar, plural Ser. That was confusing to me, so I went back and reviewed all the Estar conjugations, ‘til I had them down cold, then reviewed all the Ser conjugations. Very important to be grounded in these before moving on! Also being in the premium membership gives you access to all lessons, so be sure to get that membership. You might want to wait for a sale; I joined on a 60% off sale. Good luck!

Busuu review. I’ve found Busuu to be a great app. Unlike some others, it introduces lots of new vocabulary very quickly and provides clear, frequent explanations of grammar. There is less repetition than in some other apps, but the trade-off is that Busuu is well suited for people who wish to move quickly and are already experienced in studying languages. In addition, I very much enjoy the opportunities to correct the spoken and written English of non-native speakers and to similarly have my elementary German corrected. My complaints are minor. For example, when I answer an exercise incorrectly on my iPad, the resulting error message completely obscures my answer, thus preventing me from identifying exactly where I made the error. This is frustrating. I also wish there were more written explanations of how Busuu works, including but not limited to leagues, point systems, and what obligations come with accepting friends. Nevertheless, Busuu representatives will quickly and cordially answer questions submitted through the app. Busuu is well worth the yearly subscription price.

Better than duolingo. I’m loving Busuu so far. It’s a refreshing take on learning a language vs what many other apps tend to do. This one actually includes real photos with their vocabulary, which helps solidify the language better in your mind vs mentally translating it to English first. They also have conversation demos spoken by actual ppl so you can pick up the proper inflections. AND there is a social option where every once in a while you are offered to put something out there for native speakers to read/listen and correct if needed. You, in turn, can help others by correcting their work as well. Update: I dropped my rating down by a star because while I do still love it, I feel like this lessons are only giving you the basics of what they expect you to learn? You get some vocabulary, but no practice on sentence structure for how to use it. So when the dialogue comes around, all I can catch are the few words I learned and I have no idea what they are actually talking about and what is other vocab I wasn’t taught and what are all these sentence particles I was never shown. I wish there would be a better breakdown of grammar and sentence structure because while the lessons do a great job at holding your hand in the beginning, I feel a little thrown off a cliff now.

Bad updates. To be clear: I love this app. I love the community aspect and the quick lessons make it easy for me to fit learning into my routine. However, they updated the app recently and now my corrections don’t turn green. This is a problem since I provide avid support to my network on here and I frequently correct lessons. Another thing missing is you can no longer see engagement (comment count) on each post under the community tab and they’ve made it *too* easy to just click “it’s perfect!” when in reality, most of the time people who grade something as “perfect” are doing harm to the learner as it is not perfect, it has errors. I think this app should encourage discourse and examination beyond just saying “it’s perfect”. Just my two cents. I also wish it would refresh the community feed more often with new lessons to correct—I’m always seeing the same ones all week. I know this app is growing and continuing to improve so I will give it the benefit of the doubt. All in all, I don’t mind spending money on this app because I enjoy it, but I hope for a smoother experience on the app in the near future. Please fix the green corrections not showing up! 🙏

Love it / Quiéralo. So far, so good. I would like to thank the developers for taking the time to read this (hello! :) Also, Thank You for developing Busuu. I have been refreshing my Spanish (first language is English) and I really do enjoy this app! Much appreciated! I recommend to anyone that is dedicated to learning another language as well! I read in a previous comment that expanding the social portion of the app would be appreciated and I 100% agree ! It would be awesome to have pen pals or something set up that would allow one to practice with someone trying to do the opposite (like someone fluent in Spanish learning English would be my opposite and so I would b connected to them and we would be able to help each other one on one whenever possible . (via email, video chat, phone calls, all of the above :) or however Busuu would prefer to set a messaging system/way to communicate). I just really loved that idea and think the best way to learn a language is to actually use the language as much as possible and immerse oneself in the language consistently. Thank you again Busuu for you super cool, fun, easy language learning app! I think tech people/developers are literally some of smartest hardworking people ever and I give you Kudos !! Take Care and God Bless✌️

Great App. I have recommended this app to some of my English students because it's a great way to improve your English. I'm studying French and I love the translated dialogues they have on the ends of many of the units. They use native, non-robotic speakers and speak at a natural pace so you can hear the linking of words. I also enjoy the visuals and how they contextualize all of their wonderful flashcards with sentence examples of the words. I have a few suggestions for improvement. First, they often will throw 3 to 5 complicated rules at you and then have you practice them all at once as if you should have digested all of that info at once. I think they should introduce one rule then have you practice that one and build on that. Also, often there is no audio or translation in many of the activities and I believe that's a big loss to the student. That's one place where duolingo wins out because they are good about that. Also, I'd love more review, so past rules and lessons are woven into the new ones. Also, not a fan of the high pitched ding sound that you can't turn off. Overall very impressed and excited to keep using it. Update: Buusu is my favorite language learning app by far and far surpasses duolingo because more practical language is taught and grammar isn’t ignored. I’m studying Spanish on it now and wish I had a non-Castilian option because I’m looking to communicate with Mexicans and Latin-Americans who don’t use vosotros or that th sound for the s.

Like the app form of a high school class. This app is OK, and I’ll share my favorite aspects first—the community and the certifications. The community is phenomenal. I can speak or write answers to prompts and get non-judgmental feedback quickly. I can also do the same for English-learners, and people are gracious to share and learn. I also like that there’s an integration with McGraw Hill to actually earn certifications, which I can use professionally. But this app is essentially a high school text book. I can’t see or ask WHY something is incorrect, the voice recognition exercises feels disingenuous, I’m marked incorrect for small errors/mistaken keys, and the prompts recycle pretty quickly. To me, it even looks like a book that they would issue in high school from a design perspective. Like other users, I also use Duolingo to supplement my learning, and I think Duo is more intuitive in recognizing what I’m doing well and what I need to work on. Duo’s A/B testing clearly makes a difference. The UI on Duo is also much cleaner. I pay for both apps (both bought annual plans on RIDICULOUS sales), and I am glad that I did so in my pursuit to learn French/Spanish, but this is very clearly not an app that will help everyone with that journey.

Almost Perfect. The study plans and the very easy to follow short lessons makes Busuu one of, if not my favorite, favorite language learning apps. The only problem, which may or may not be a problem for others, is the limitation on how many study plans you can have going at once. If you’re like me and love learning languages, you would probably want to be able to have two or even three study plans going for different languages at a time. However, Busuu limits this to just one, even with a Premium Plus account! Thankfully, everything else is amazing. The remaining features barely make up for this lack in freedom for learning more than one language. Overall, it’s a great app. I’m just a little disappointed with this one feature, or lack there of. I would highly recommend it to anyone that only plans on learning one language though. In Response to the Developer I appreciate the concern and with all due respect, it doesn’t seem like the decision to learn more than one language at a time should be up to someone that doesn’t know me or my motivations. That kind of decision should be up to the user, or at the very least, a feature for Premium Plus members. I am saying this with much respect and appreciation for what is already made available. Thank you.

Exceptional program, some quirks. Overall this is a very effective language learning system. You take a quick placement quiz to get you in the right part of the lesson plan. I feel they got my level right, especially once I had a few days in. It was challenging but I could do it. The spoken material is clear and often accompanied by video. It is real people speaking, and not cartoon voices. That’s a big deal. Each lesson builds new skills while reinforcing the fundamentals. There is a streak/league component but there is no pressure with it. The leagues are there to give you an idea of how much study you are doing, and how consistent you are. Do three lessons a day and you will be in the bronze/silver range. Don’t sweat it. The quirks are more about the interface. After you answer certain questions some of the pop up boxes cover up the example so you can’t see how you answered. You can only click to move to the next one. Some of the word fill-in questions won’t let you undo the word placement. It wouldn’t hurt to provide feedback option if you think there is an error or problem with a question. These things are minor and seem to be worse on the iPad interface. None of it has a big impact on the learning side. I just hope they keep working on UI.

Probably the best language learning app. People are drawn to Duolingo because it’s free, I totally get it. And no shade to them, because I think that they serve a purpose. But if you’re serious about learning how to confidently converse in another language, Busuu is where it’s at. It’s very reasonably priced considering what you actually get with a premium membership. The app itself functions super well, have not experienced any issues in a month of using it. The layout is great also, very user friendly. It’s so helpful to be able to have your writing and/or speaking exercises corrected by native speakers. It’s such a valuable resource. The lessons are paced perfectly, too. I’ve tried a few language learning apps in my day, and let me tell ya, I think Busuu is the winner. I like Mango quite a bit too, for different reasons. And one suggestion I would make to Busuu would be to have a pronunciation breakdown pop up by clicking on a word. The native speakers are excellent and speak clearly, but it would just help quite a bit. Especially with French, yikes... All in all, would highly recommend! Busuu doesn’t get enough hype!

Not immersive enough. My biggest gripe with any language learning app is there is waaay to much English (my native language) in the lessons. This app is no different. It’s so much harder for my brain to go back and forth between two different languages, rather than just being immersed in one language and not having to go back and forth. This is the way we learn as babies and this is the way that works for me. The first 3 flashcards were 3 different new Japanese words and the 4th flashcard was an English question, “This means ___. True or False.” Nooooo. I just had one card telling me a word and then two other cards of two different words and now you’re quizzing me in English? Just no. And then the next card was a sentence in Japanese asking again in English, what did I hear. If I listen to the same word and see the pictures, that’s all I need. No English. No quizzing. Just speaking and listening. If I want a translator, then I worry more about reading and writing. I don’t want a translator. I want a program that actually teaches me a language first. The reading and writing come last. So far, there is only one application that comes close to this. At the very least, I wish there was a way in this app and many other apps to have the option to only speak and listen first.

Surprisingly helpful and efficient!. I love how easy it is to use, and how amazing the community is. The lessons are designed very well and the app is extremely easy to use. Just pick a language you want to learn and let the app guide you the whole way through. It’s pretty straight forward and eventually you will be familiar and hopefully fluent in whatever chosen language. I strongly suggest you try out the community feature where you can find people to help you, correct your mistakes, ask for feedback, and even socialize. It’s incredibly easy to find people and make friends. I’ve been using this app for a few days to learn French and I have already learned about 60 words. The ONLY con I can think of is that during lessons you are required to listen to a voice saying words and phrases. This could potentially be a problem because sometimes it can be hard to hear what word or phrase they are saying, especially when they talk too fast. Other than that, everything works like a charm. I don’t ever write reviews but I thought I should praise a high quality app that actually helped me accomplish something. Honestly, it is quite fun learning a new language even if you aren’t serious in becoming fluent, and that’s where this app really shines... it makes it FUN and NOT boring to learn. Anyways, I love this app and I think it’s a great tool to pass the time and learn a new language fairly easily.

Written with an idealized middle class in mind. This program gets right to the point, and gives the impression that you’re learning quite quickly. Vocabulary is absorbed and spat out at breakneck speed. I prefer the pace to Duolingo’s snail’s pace. However the content feels a little silly for the learning level I’m at. The app seems almost exclusively geared to upper middle class business people in what it talks about. Lots of office-related vocabulary, and the people in the example photos are conventionally attractive magazine types. For my level (beginner) and my job (musician), this type of vocabulary is really not what I need to learn at all. It seems as though the people who program the app are doing it with Sims in mind, gearing content towards sitcom people who don’t exist in real life. The conversations in the examples are always between a male and female speaker in their mid 30s. In the beginning content, I would love to learn about the names of the rooms in a house, how to get directions and what a street is called. I works like more in depth info on how to talk about family members or people of different age groups. This fast pace gives the impression of learning quickly, but in actuality there are huge gaps in the learning and it feels a little silly to be learning how to talk about meetings in the board room when I can’t say ‘door’ or ‘hallway’.

Best resource I’ve found so far. I love Busuu! I love how structured the lessons are and how you can have your word reviewed by other native speakers. I also like that they have a review tab, so you can review the things you’re weak in like grammar or vocabulary. Some complaints I have is that in the past is that one or two answers haven’t been quite accurate (I am learning Japanese) to the question being asked, but I haven’t encountered this in a while. Since this is something that all apps have trouble with, I don’t think it’s a massive problem, but could be frustrating/ confusing for a new learner. Also with learning Japanese, the app will sometimes pick and choose when you can and can’t use kanji to answer a question, even if your answer is correct—especially in the review section. This is convenient for beginners, but can be frustrating for upper level learners wanting to practice their kanji. It also can be kinda strict with “?” vs “。” which can also add to the frustration. A recommendation: aside from the complaints I mentioned above— have a writing resource to reference/ practice from. I’m learning Japanese so having a page dedicated to the characters would be nice. Overall I really love this app.

Like the app but…. I like Busuu but I hate the fact that you have to pay EVERY MONTH just to learn a language! I’m trying to learn Japanese and I’m impressed I’m actually pretty good and it’s my dream to travel to Japan and live there one day! Some people don’t have the money or don’t want to spend money just to learn a language! Maybe it’s a requirement for a job or maybe you plan on traveling to that place and what if you can’t speak enough of that language to get bye? That’s pure disrespect! I refuse to pay just to learn Japanese I’m trying to become fluent and I’m not even close because I have to pay! I’m not buying anything just to learn a language that’s wrong! Not everyone has the money for it and some people are required to speak a language! Paying every month to speak a new language??? That’s CRAZY! Please change this not everyone has the time to search the whole App Store just to learn a language! Busuu is a great app but it’d be way better if you didn’t have to PAY! Nobody wants to spend money every month so they could learn a language not everyone has that type of money! I’m ashamed… Please fix it as FAST as possible!

Love it, just some innovative ideas I had. I really enjoy the app it is very comprehensive and easy to study from the review sections if I don’t feel like doing a lesson. My favorite part is the community aspects how you can chat with other native speakers. This app is great for true comprehension of the culture and the rules of the language with lots of exercises for memory and pronunciation. If you’re a more auditory learner and want to learn more naturally/quickly with everyday convos, The only other app I recommend to people is Pimsleur - 30 min audio lessons with very relevant vocabulary that you will find yourself using immediately. Using Pimsleur and Busuu together daily with have you fluent in no time. The only drawback with Busuu is that you can only talk to them on the speaking/writing exercises. It would be really dope if the friends part was expanded like a mini social media blog or chat features. Also, could you add Farci (either Afghani Dari or Persian)? Other than these things, this app is amazing and one I always recommend !

BUSUU🥇💖💖💖💖💖. Busuu is a great app. I love how busuu walks you through speaking new languages. I also love that it shows pictures to go along with the words and how busuu will translate the new language that you are learning into the language that you already speak. I also love how busuu has the “listen and repeat” stages where you can repeat the new language you are learning so that you can learn how to actually say the new word that you have learned. I love how busuu has added the buddying thing. That way, you and your buddy can help each other out in learning new languages. And they even pull up the buddies that are learning the language that you already know, and that speak the language that you are learning! 😀 And busuu is even FREE. Now you don’t have to waste your money on other dumb apps that cost like a million dollars every year. I was wanting to learn German because half of my family was from Germany. I was looking for apps that would teach me this, but all of them costed money-until I found busuu. I would definitely recommend busuu to others in need of learning new languages. It is a great way to learn, AND A GREAT WAY TO HAVE FUN WHILE DOING IT!!!!!😁😁😁😁😁

Offline app is extremely slow. I’m learning German, Arabic and Spanish on this app. It works conveniently and I definitely recommend buying premium. It helps you develop a study plan based on when you’re available and lets you choose when and how long to study for each week. Then, it gives you an estimate of when you’ll be at your goal (A1, A2, B1, B2) based on your study plan. With premium, you’re able to give 5 friends 30 free days to try out the paid version of the app. Me having no friends, can’t review that part. The thing is, it gives you a button to download the lessons for when you’re offline. However, when you open the app when you’re offline, it takes about half an hour to an hour to completely load the lessons. This can be extremely frustrating and difficult. I recommend opening the app BEFORE you go offline so that everything is loaded and ready for you to learn. Overall, this is a good app for learning languages and being someone who has tested many apps, I recommend this over Babbel or any other app.

Rather good Spanish, from Spain, program. Pros: I enjoyed having many listening exercises involving native speakers to help train my ear. There were also opportunities to record myself speaking the target language, and to have my speech corrected by native speakers. Both these factors were valuable. Cons: First, For me, there wasn’t enough explanation and repetition of the grammar rules. Second, some of the questions were rather vague as to what was needed to answer correctly. Third, the course is Euro-centric. The Spanish taught is that which is spoken in Spain. Many of the expressions wouldn’t be used in Latin America. It would have been nice if there had been a Latin American Spanish option. Many of the English expressions are not used in the US either. -Fancy, for example, is not a verb here. Fourth, I paid for a six month course, but now that I have reached my goal, over a month early, I am no longer able to access the videos. Why? I feel a little short-changed in that regard. Overall, this is a good course that could, and should, be better.

Excellent Learning Tool!. Updated: 05/22. About 6 months ago the app introduced an upgrade that ruined one of the most important features: correcting others’ written exercises. Corrections are no longer highlighted making it near impossible to learn from others users help. So sad. I assumed this would be fixed right away, but it has not. I loved this app before and renewed my subscription for another year, before the update that ruined it. My renewal turned into a waste of money. —————————- This covers all the beginner/intermediate grammar topics for Spanish and has lots of exercises. The best part of this app is the ability to practice writing and receiving feedback from native language speakers. This feature took my learning to another level of skill and confidence! I have finished all the lessons, but I am still getting value out of the well structured review program (but see below). Spanish language levels A1 and A2 are outstanding. The quality of the Spanish lessons starts to drop off with B1. And B2 is very poor instructionally. So sad to finally get there and find that Busuu did not invest much in this level from an instructional perspective. Also, the Review function of this app is great for A1 and A2. So-so for B1 and nonexistent for B2. I still give the app 4 stars because of how great it is for beginners and lower intermediate level learners, which is the bulk of Busuu users.

Actually Great For Learning. It might just be my learning style, but this is by far the best app that I have found so far. I know there are probably many people saying the same thing about all the different apps out there, but you can test all of them out on a free trial anyways to see which one works best for you. Therefore, I am writing this to make sure that you at least give this one a try. I have been trying Duolingo, Babbel, Rosetta Stone, Memrise, and some others. However, I have an actual hardcopy work book that refered me to this app and it’s the best. I like it because it actually tells you the “why” and not just the “what”. It stops every so often to explain grammar and conjugation, which I didn’t see much of in other apps. Other apps just want you to use it enough until you figure it out for yourself, but my time and brain doesn’t allow me to learn in this way. I learn by having things explained to me, memorizing, and then repeating/practicing for long term memory. Other apps seem to start with the last step. This app also has many different lesson styles, which keep it interesting. Most comprehensive app so far.

Not for me. So, I started the trial and I liked busuu, but as I progressed through the program I found I needed to go back to previous lessons a lot, which isn’t very easy to do without interrupting and having to restart your current lesson. That made review pretty difficult. I also was dismayed at how quickly my “fluency” rating was increasing despite the fact I continuously needed to review old material. I finally felt I wasn’t really learning much. Plus, you aren’t really taught the written languages. The hiragana and katakana seem to be included incidentally, and kanji get thrown in randomly without explanation. I hate to say this, but at least for me I found better resources Learn Japanese!!, Learn Japanese!-Kanji and Learn Japanese!!! seem to really be in tune with modern learning techniques, force you to review items you make mistakes on more often, and uses SRS review methods. You don’t need to know what SRS means, but it’s damned clever and really reinforces what you have learned. Also, Anki is great for memorizing the Japanese alphabets, it’s REALLY important to learn those first if you are even a little bit serious about learning Japanese. I think busuu could really improve itself if it took a few pages from these other programs. If they did that, and I had a chance to review the program again, I would like the chance to delete this review and give them the stars I wanted to when I first downloaded the program.

Excellent, but. Excellent app for reviewing/ refreshing any prior knowledge, plus learning new. One can get back up to speed much more quickly than with say Duolingo which is painfully slow. As another mentioned, I didn’t know I could delete certain vocabulary words to not waste time with them. Another issue is that you can get an exercise right, and click to continue but realize there was additional explanation in that “correct” screen that you missed. Pavlov’s dogs… the “correct” chimes moves our fingers to hit “continue” immediately. I wish there was a way to go back a screen. The same goes for the pages with a bunch of info or rules. Sometimes I want to scroll back to review it again, but that’s not possible. Also, there’s no way to flag errors. One recurring error is very irritating, because you ask this question many times and many ways, half the time you want it answered one way, and the other half another way. It was even on the A2 exam, and marked me wrong. “Choose the 4 words that indicate an action in progress”. Être en train de + verb …. Half the time it wanted those first 4 words… the other half it wanted you to choose “en train de +verb”. It’s such a great app!!!… I hope you will work on the bugs though and give a way for customer feedback. I shouldn’t have to put it in a review

Just one problem. Okay, so almost everything about the app is great and all but there’s one issue... Recently, my account has been acting up. Im the type of person that moves from one home to another to another and then back to the first home. FYI:I have the internet connected to all of them. Anyways, every since a month ago, I haven’t been able to learn. I open the app just as usual, go to the lesson, and click the start lesson button thing. But after doing that, Busuu tells me that I’m not connected to the internet and that I can use it if I’m offline. So, I’ve been deleting the app, downloading it, deleting it and so forth. Although that method works, it makes things very difficult for me. I also have the membership premium so I don’t want to quit it. But, since a few days ago, the app as been lagging and repeating the problem(said above)much, much, more frequently. Like on a daily basis. Even though these few days I haven’t been switching between homes. I’m sincerely hoping that the app will sometimes fix itself because I truly do enjoy using this app. But other than that, the app is really great :)

Very nice interface. Just started, but I like the ease with which the lessons flow. The B1 and B2 Japanese lessons are still under construction and not very complete, but the A1 and A2 sections are very good. This is an update. The format has changed a little, but I still like it. They continue to update the Japanese. I am doing the manga track now which adds a different flavor to the lessons. I have been using the app for over a hundred days now and have worked through the German A2 level. I especially like the use of the community of learners to comment on my attempts to write in German and Japanese. I have now been using Busuu for 270 days and have continued to keep up with the additional lessons that are gradually being added to the Japanese. I have found the German lessons much more challenging in B1 and the topics are not as interesting to me so that vocabulary is hard to retain. I started the looking at the Spanish and have done the first 5 units. The material is clearly presented, but I can see it will start getting harder. The Japanese B1 and B2 levels are beginning to fill out. I have also moved on to beginning Spanish which I like.

Great for Language Learning, not Difficult Enough and Not Enough Direct Reinforcement. Busuu is probably the best paid language learning software out there. It includes cultural notes for each language, like differences in phrases used in Spanish in different countries, that “how are you?” Is not commonly asked in Germany and seen as a very personal question, or how Russians use Patronymic names as their formal names. It also does a great job of making sure you’re actually pronouncing the words right, getting the spelling right, and learning new words. Additionally, it also teaches you according to CEFR standards and you can take tests and get certificates of language knowledge from McGraw Hill according to CEFR levels, and you can put them on your LinkedIn profile. The biggest problem is that it doesn’t really do a good job of reinforcing what you’ve already learned. You have to go out of your way to review the words, phrases, and spellings. I would highly recommend using this app to learn grammar, pronunciation, and phrases, and use Duolingo on the side to help expand your vocabulary in your target language.

Better than Duolingo!. I found this app through youtuber (Gaijin Goomba) who recommended it over the current language app I was already using. Duolingo just gives you worksheets and has you memorize letters while Buusu actually has you learn words that would be practical if you found yourself stuck in a foreign country. Sure it still teaches you letters and such but they do it in a far more organic way than just giving you spreadsheets. There is also a large community there to help give you confidence or corrections on the things you write, as some lessons have you share your work with the community. The community is positive and so ready to help others, so there isn’t any need to fear sharing your early work with those around you. Also, just as a personal thing; the lessons are worded like a specific person is teaching you, giving their personal opinions, thoughts, praise, and even using cute little emoticons to express their excitement. This is definitely not necessary, but it made me feel a personal touch and connection to the writer of my lessons.

Best Language Learning App Ever!. This app is one of the best apps I’ve tried. I’ve tried many such as Duolingo, which only taught you simples and was not very good at helping you remember things. This app exercises your mind and really helps with learning languages! It also has levels and chapters, which help organize it. Im also glad it doesn’t ONLY teach you the basics, it has levels for the basics to professional. It really helps me remember each letter, and helps make it much simpler! My friend also tried Duolingo, which she went to learn Spanish because I speak both English and Spanish, Duolingo did not help her at all, but after 1 day of learning off of Busuu, she showed me how she already could form an entire sentence in Spanish over text and voice. It is also FREE! It also allows you to talk to people who speak the language you are learning. I really love this app and it’s really helped me learn a lot of Korean (which I have been studying for only 3 days now). It really does get the job done, and it doesn’t get boring or tiring at all. I definitely recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Good, but could use some improvements. My thoughts on this app have been mostly positive throughout my usage of it. I have managed to pick up Italian as fast or maybe even faster than Spanish in school. I am very glad to have grammar lessons that help a person actually understand the rules of a language and how to use them correctly. It is very easy to go back and review words if you have forgotten them. I do still have complaints though. The Italian course is big and I like it that way, but I noticed for other languages (Russian, Turkish, Chinese, Polish) there is not only no McGraw hill tests, but also a much smaller number of lessons. This concerning for me, a person who hopes to eventually learn polish, because I know it is a hard language and requires lots of studying, memorizing, and practicing. There is also a lack of lessons that prioritize learning grammar rules which I know is also important for the language. I am hoping that one day the Polish course as well as the other short course languages will eventually grow larger with future updates.

Perfect platform for me. I did a lot of research concerning which paid platform to use on my language learning journey. I saw people praise Busuu and I saw people criticize Busuu. Well, I had to see for myself. I did the free trial and immediately got drawn into the platform. It’s very engaging, has a lot of information, and is, in my opinion, affordable. More than one mode of learning is activated; writing, speaking, visual, and listening. You also get the chance to interact with people who are also learning a new language in a controlled setting, making it hard for people to turn it into a dating app, which distracts from learning. They also give the option to book some classes with instructors to get more assistance with your learning. I highly recommend doing a free trial of the classes. The instructors are knowledgeable and patient with you. They know how to engage students in conversation so that you apply the Spanish you know, which helps you learn. I will continue to use Busuu because I have a great balance of self-learning and guided learning that has helped me learn a lot already. Hopefully this platform can be a great fit for you, too.

Better than Duo. I never leave reviews because I think they’re irrelevant, but I know that I’ve tried so many different apps to learn languages in the past and this one is by far the best. Right now I’m learning French across three different apps, and while I think they’re all great, this one is my favorite for three reasons. 1. It teaches you conversational French (Spanish, English, etc.) before moving into the finer details, where as other apps tend to focus on academic speaking. 2. Busuu often has you say the words that you’re learning for native speakers to correct, which is wholly helpful. And 3. While it prompts you to buy its premium package, it never forces you to buy it to continue with lessons which I run into often on language apps. Yes, you have to watch some ads to do your lessons but they are short and don’t take more than 30 seconds total. Overall I’ve tried a ton of different apps for languages but this one is by far the most useful if you’re just getting started in another language!!! Thanks :)

The only language app I’ve ever paid for. Hi! I bought the premium Busuu after one day of usage. I was really excited about the community aspect of the app and that native speakers could correct my work. I am learning Japanese and the only gripe I have is that more vocabulary isn’t included in the flash cards. The lessons do an amazing job of introducing new words throughout but I never write them down because I go ‘oh, these will be in the flash cards that I can review at any time’ but they never are and they’re not counted in the fluency tracker. I am loving the writing and grammar lessons—I can read and write in Hiragana now!!! How cool is that?!?!? I just don’t know what very many words mean. I’m two weeks in to learning and I spend about 30-60 minutes every day on the app. I am hoping future lessons cover more words, otherwise I’ll just go back through and write down all the words that are thrown in and make my own flash cards :) which wouldn’t be hard and I am happy to do but it would be nice to have them as part of my digital library too. Thanks, Busuu! I am really excited for my Japan trip next year and I think I will be well prepared!

Amazing App. Love the fact that I can learn different languages with a close or same curriculum as a college language course, I used to use other apps and found this one more helpful and more complete. So much , I didn’t mind paying the annual fee which is much more less that paying at any other institutions or college and you get the advantage of learning different languages at once. I’m currently learning French, Mandarin and Italian for the price of $35 a year. You also get to make friends from different parts of the world. If they are native speakers for the languages you are learning they’ll help you by correcting your exercises and viceversa, by making friends or anyone willing to help. It’s a beautiful community and you really feel the support, for the first time I do not feel embarrassed speaking words because they will also tell you how to write better or pronounce it better with no judgement involved 🙌🏻 it feels good ! I highly recommend this app to anyone looking to learn at their own pace. The app also makes a custom plan for you and it tells you how many months with consistency it will take you to be fluent. Yay!!!! If you don’t get it you’ll be wasting your time and money elsewhere! Get it!!!!

I am obsessed. [disclaimer: I bought the full account so I have features not everyone might, but I seriously recommend getting the full version, it’s worth every single penny] As an avid language learner, I’ve tried every app and website out there, and this is by far my favourite of all of the ones I’ve ever used. From the gorgeous and entertaining design to the sensical and organised lessons, everything is just perfect. I love the separated grammar lessons so much and the culture/grammar notes as I learn new things are so helpful and interesting, they really add an exciting element to my learning and remind me of how amazing it is to be opening the door to a new world by learning the language. One of my favourite things is how the lessons are laid out and how you can go about completing them. Unlike most apps and websites where the groupings are by random topics and you must do them in order, busuu has a fantastic way of taking a concept, teaching vocabulary for it, introducing grammar with that vocabulary, and making it all useful for actual communication. That to me is one of the best features, because I know that I’m constantly learning material I need, instead of crawling my way through 4 lessons about food to get to the important stuff. Busuu is amazing, and I recommend it to literally everyone, thanks busuu for motivating me and making learning so much fun!

Very helpful. There are a couple minor bugs here and there but these are not the kind that cause the app to shut down. So don’t be concerned with that. Realize that even using just the free app is amazing. I have used Babbel, I have used a private online tutor which truly is the best of all worlds (if you are using a good one), and now I am using Busuu. Each way of learning has its benefits, but I have to say that I have found secrets I never learned the other ways. Truly, that may be because I am much more relaxed in the language and read Spanish B1 novels now, it may be because my online profe made me write stories in Spanish and drove home lots of stuff, and now I have a desire to fine tune what I know, it may be because Busuu presents the same material I must have covered in Babbel and with my instructor, but now it’s finally sinking in. But I am truly benefiting a great deal from Busuu’s style on the free app. I will sign up for the year but I am trying to figure out my level on their app first so I can dive in where I should be. I like the fact you can’t move ahead until you have truly learned the material. There are times I have repeated a section just to reinforce what I thought I’d learned but wasn’t sure. That helped so much. So give it a try.

Better Features, Better Learning - Needs Better IT. I really like Busuu. I’m using it to learn Spanish, German and Japanese. It’s great for building conversational skills and doesn’t teach you random words like some other apps. It starts basic and gets more specific. It’s really fun to help correct other users exercises and get feedback! You can also set an intention by choosing to learn general Spanish or German for travel (this is true with the other languages too). In this way Busuu allows for focused learning Busuu, also allows you to take placments tests anytime while learning! Probably the best thing is that you can make as many mistakes as you want without penalty. There are some things left to be desired. I do wish that this app had more features like some of its competitors. It would be nice if it had games or challenges. Even tho Busuu encourages you to learn at your own pace, the competitive aspect is great motivation on other apps. There are some bigger problems. After some inactivity I lost all my progress on Japanese. IT was not helpful. They insisted that I must have another account. I don’t. I restored progress on my other languages but not Japanese. After wards they gave up on me and I gave up on the app. It’s really discouraging when you have to start over and my heart is somewhat hurt.

My go-to app for German.. (50yo male Realtor from NY) Busuu has really helped push my language learning to a new level, especially with conversational German. I take a private lesson once a week and even my teacher is impressed with my language learning, and she’s from Germany. I use a couple paid apps, but I ultimately end up using this one 90% of the time. I still use the other ones because there’s no “one app” that’ll teach you everything. But if you want one app, I would say this Busuu is it. Once in a while there will be a word or phrase that isn’t quite right. But it’s usually not an issue. In any language, no one speaks perfectly all the time. There are frequent updates to lessons, even the ones you’ve already completed. So I would recommend that once in a while, go back to the ones you have already done and do them again. You will learn something new, even if they are in the very beginning. The best advice I could give would be, do not rush through it. You’re learning a language, not playing a video game. The goal is not to finish, but to actually understand what you are learning and saying. Viel Glück!

Update 1. I like it so far I hope the social and speaking aspects become stronger as I get deeper into it. I just finished Pimsleur french and this seems to be much better at grammar. I think if you’re serious about learning French and are trying to do it on your own or with your phone or on your phone as much as you can, both Pimsleur and Busuu have a place. Pretty impressed so far The social aspects are really blossoming! The “friends” that I’ve made are really good at helping change literal translation that sound weird in the respective target language, to an appropriate expression of an idea. PLUS they correct grammar and spelling! It’s brilliant. Humans have such hard wired social rules. There is no way that I am not going to correct their target exercises after they have helped me! So I am spending my time reciprocating and boy is that fascinating too! Flipping enjoyable! But you do have to engage that part of the application when prompted. I will upgrade to 5 etoiles if the structured lessons press beyond intermediate French. I like everyone else I think is looking for a clear path from idiot to near fluency in our target languages.

Interactive and fun!. I didn’t honestly think I would enjoy the app so much!! It’s interactive enough to keep learners engaged and motivated, plus connecting native speakers and learners together works really well in helping others study languages. I only had to commit a little before finding myself committing to studying everyday on Busuu, even just for 10’ or hours at end during free time!! A big 5 stars for this one:)

I’m a believer. Very, very good. Have been a DuoLingo user for several years and got a lot out of it, but it has always been glitchy with its audio tracks, and the new study format feels ineffective, tiresome and ultimately unnecessary. This is totally different. The pacing is fantastic, as is both the relevance and quality of the content, including great audio tracks of practical, conversational dialogue. Rather than being clumped together into separate lessons, idioms and conversational short cuts are introduced in a very real way as the level of dialogue progresses, which is much more in line with how anyone learns a language in real life. You can try a few of the lessons as a free user, but if you are serious about learning a language, just get the 1 year sub for the $40 price they offer you. The real gold is all in there. Worth every penny.

Almost perfect except. The app is very good and actually helps me making real learning progress, unlike some other apps. There are some areas for improvement, but I can’t find a way to request new features or give feedback. One of the main things that annoys me is, some of my exercises never get corrected, and they get buried over time. I wish there’s a way for me to resend or bump them up the list, for people to notice.

Good enough for a starter. Overall I’m satisfied and it’s certainly better than the other mainstream options. I’m one week into learning at the time of this review. The course somewhat rushes you through the study material and expects you to have a brilliant memory for future lessons that tests you on earlier words. Not necessarily a bad thing. An improvement would be to include a refresh of earlier training along the way. There’s just this linear progression with an expectation that the user is retaining the knowledge. Add more recap moments and spread out the learning. There’s also these annoying moments where a new word or phrase not previously taught is thrown in and you’re expected to somehow figure it out which is odd. Maybe this is some kind of new generation training. I’m used to learning material then being tested on what was taught. There’s also instances where you’re taught the rules for some word spelling or grammar but it leaves a lot of questions unanswered about why it’s like that. I think going into some more detail can’t hurt the user gain more insight into why something is the way it is. Otherwise, I think this app is about as good as it gets for now in the marketplace until AI eats their lunch soon.

So far so good. I’ll had this app about a week now and already learning more. I’ve already started learning a language and was looking for a wider variety of vocabulary and grammar rules and Busuu has been great not only in these areas but also with the connection of the community of people learning and speaking the same languages as me— learning from each other and supporting each other. It’s a truly amazing experience, to watch others learn my language and learn from natives who speak the language I’m learning. One of the best language apps I’ve tried so far.

Pretty good but paid full access. (Update: I recently bought Premium because of the New Year’s Sale. I haven’t regretted it, the whole app is great and very helpful. Upped my review to 4 stars!) I think that Busuu has a very clean design and well-structured lessons, and I really enjoy using the app. I just wish there was more that didn’t require a subscription—but I do understand why there isn’t. However, from what I’ve seen, Premium is something I would definitely consider buying (especially since it’s not as expensive as that of some other apps) and might actually purchase in the future. So, if you are willing to pay the money, then I recommend this app 100%. If you aren’t, I’d still suggest checking it out, there are some good free lessons that explain grammar and help grow your vocabulary.

Best app to learn a language. Busuu uses such a great technique to learning a language while making it fun as well. It offers in depth explanation of grammar rules and even the culture and history behind a language as well as offering so many languages. It made learning more difficult languages such as Russian and Chinese easier with efficient learning methods. And the order in which they teach you makes sense, so I’m actually learning how to say hello first rather than bread unlike other apps I have tried. The only improvement I could suggest is when you are typing and make a single mistake, you got the entire question wrong. I’ve recommended Busuu to so may of my friends and they found it really useful.

Very Good 👍. Busuu is very good on teaching me. I am Australian and I am trying to learn Chinese, so far Busuu has taught me how to say Hello! My name is Betty, and you? If your looking for an app that can teach you how to speak different languages it’s definitely Busuu. But one thing my family is Maltese and I was quite sad about not having an option on leafing Maltese. I think Busuu should add Maltese, and Croatian. But overall I love Busuu.

Forget Duolingo... I pumped one and a half months doing two hours a day into Duolingo to end up doing phrases involving “my enemy” like what the heck dude I don’t even know how to say Happy in German after a month and a half. This teaches you things in order of how you should learn as if in a classroom (with certificates so they say?) And get onto the grammar, way more useful. As soon as they implement the grammar review (as I was a beta tester in) this app will be the best assistant to your studies.

Great app! Two recommendations…. I really love this app. I am studying Spanish & it has helped a lot & motivated me to continue practicing. I love the community aspect of it too, learning from native Spanish speakers. Just two things I would really love is that on the practicing pages, when you have to fill in the gaps for the sentences or for similar questions, please could you offer the English translation as well as the correct Spanish sentence. Sometimes I end up guessing the Spanish words and still having no clue what it translates to in English! Also, to better understand sentence structure, I think it would be helpful to have a literal English translation for the sentence as well as the most sensible translation (for example Te llamo está mañana - You I call this morning - I will call you this morning)

Great. Busuu is a very solid language learning app in comparison to it’s competitors! Busuu offers great access for users who aren’t paying and actually goes into depth about grammar and sentence structure rather than just throwing vocab at you. Definitely my favourite language learning app! My only wish is that there was a wider range of languages because I was really looking into learning Norwegian and German but unfortunately there are no Norwegian courses yet.

Almost perfect. I download this app to learn Japanese. It has a review section where you can practise your vocabulary and grammar. However, after finishing 1st level of the Japanese lesson, I notice that there is no progress with the grammar practice and grammar review. I've been doing the same practice over and over again. Also, I found one lesson has the wrong translation. It could be confusing for some people. Other than that, this app is perfect, the lessons are easy to understand.

Good app, good price, would be nice to have more features. The app has lots available to non-paying users, but it opens up a lot more when you do pay. I would like them to add some features to entire courses at once instead of just one level at a time, for example they added quizzes at the end of every few topics to beginner Portuguese, but there are no quizzes in any other levels, also it would be nice to be able to do quizzes on whole grammar structures and lessons, like how you can currently revise the vocab you've learnt, it would be nice to have an option to revise random lessons since the app does not have any repetition. The lack of repetition is nice though, because some apps repeat so often that you can never learn anything new. It would also be nice if you could revise more than 5 words at a time in the vocab section, maybe add a slider to select 5,10,20,50 etc?

Don’t buy. Although this app is very nice and easy to use, I was very disappointed to find that even though I bought the premium version to use offline, it did not work as advertised. I downloaded several lessons - or thought I had- but when I tried to use the app it required an internet service. As I had specifically bought it for an occasion when I was without internet for 10 days, this was very disappointing. Even worse was that when I wrote and complained I was simply given the information as to how to cancel my subscription- no explanation or apology. I think I will report this to Apple as false advertising. Very disappointed.

BUSUU. I am enjoying the program a lot. It covers both grammar and vocabulary very well and I am learning a lot. However, I have two major criticisms, 1. When I booked for a live tutor, despite accessing all work in the app, the link didn’t work. I tried to email BUSUU, but had no response. I was charged for the session. Obviously, I haven't scheduled anymore which is disappointing. 2. I have completed both mini exams at the end of the first two stages and requested a certificate. Despite confirming these would be sent they haven’t been. Again, very poor service. In summary, I would give four stars for the course content and app, but nil on service and accessibility to a responsible contact within BUSUU

Perfect for me learning Spanish as a native English speaker. I adore Busuu! I was having a really tough time learning Spanish with classes in the official language school in Spain. There were lots of holes in the grammar theory in those classes. Busuu is perfect for me learning Spanish as a native English speaker because it compares to English grammar, which I know as an English language teacher, and it builds up wholly.

Amazing app!. I love learning with this app! Busuu really helped me memorise all of the phrases and vocabulary. I choose to learn Japanese, and I love the emojis in the explanations and text they use. I found it an amazing app to use, and I feel greatly encouraged everyday to use it! The product was very easy to navigate, use, and learn! I totally recommend downloading this for yourself as it has greatly helped me learn a new language, and I am certain you will at least get much merit out of it as I did.

A gem of an app. I’m using Busuu to learn French and loving it. It’s entertaining, motivating and cleverly conceived, with authentic texts and conversations, all packaged in a colourful and intuitive app. The progress is not rigid: you can move forward through the lessons and go backwards too. I love the evidence that the texts and lessons are being updated and modernised. For instance, there’s a lesson about the lockdown in France.

Great language learning resource!. I 100% recommend this app for those who would like to learn a language enough to understand some news reports and videos and grammar. Unlike Duolingo and some other apps, it actually teaches phrases that are useful, and not only is it vocabulary based, it teaches you grammar as well! I have learnt to form sentences in German using correct grammar most of the time just with this app, since when you learn a new word, it shows which “the” to use so you know the gender of the word too! Use this app and see how quickly you can start communicating with natives!

Beware of "trial period". Not like other trial periods that only charge you after the expiration of the trial period. Busuu charges you immediately on commiting to the trial period. No easy way to get a refund during the trial period other than requesting through Apple. I find this practice to unfairly weigh on the consumer keeping track of time for one, I mean, if you try this app put a note in your calender and if you don't intend to continue you need to cancel on day 5 to allow up to 48 hours advance processing time. I'll put this out there that this process will be banned in the future by Apple. For the time being, be careful of this method to enforce subscription and encourage breakage. Most companies do not count gift certificates and store credits as earnings, keeping them as liabilities, with offsetting assets in the form of cash already collected. How sweet is it for a company to simply determine that a certain percentage of its trade liabilities will never have to be paid? That's breakage. If you pay and don't use your subscription, that's breakage.

Fantastic app. I’ve been using Busuu for 4 days now and already it’s the best language learning app I’ve ever used. Caveat: I’ve only tested its Spanish course. It’s the only app I’ve seen that helps you learn vocabulary, teaches you grammar explicitly, and uses foreign language students to correct your exercises. Literally everything I wanted from a language app. They have many major world languages. If they added Hindi, the app would be perfect in my view.

Very Good Job!. I was very pleased with this app, and found it very easy to follow along and learn! Very easy for kids and adults, and made learning a different language fun! The only thing that I would change was the subscription to learn more, as it is very annoying how you have completed not even half of the lessons and then you need to pay premium for the rest. Other then that I thought this app was very well made!

My honest opinions:. I’ve used Duolingo, Drops, Memrise, Babbel and other language learning apps. None of them have been as effective and addicting as Busuu. Busuu is unique in that it’s community focussed- allowing its users to connect with each other, all sharing their advice, corrections and support. Yes, the app costs money, but if you’re serious about learning a language (and you have the funds), it’s a worthwhile investment. Honestly, just try out Busuu. Without paying, you can complete a few elementary lessons in your chosen language and check out the community features. If you’re anything like me, you’ll love getting feedback from others and returning the favour! I’ve learnt so much with this app in just two short days! Their German course is fantastic. The app uses algorithms to determine what vocabulary and grammar you are needing to practise. Other language learning apps don’t appear to do this so well. Anyways, thanks for reading my long rant. I definitely recommend this app to anyone wanting to learn a language, and of course the only reason I don’t give it five stars is because 1. It’s expensive. 2. It uses stock images and footage for the most part. Thanks and good luck on your learning journey!

The best language learning application. I have tried a large amount of language learning tools - ranging from other apps (Duolingo, Babbel) podcasts (Japanese Pod 101) to more traditional textbook based learning. Busuu is the most effective amongst the online learning mediums. It forces you to practice recognising and using your learning in different contexts - something many other apps have failed to do. It is not as good as face-to-face learning but is significantly cheaper.

Really entertaining way to learn french. This program was reviewed by the site days "days of french and sweedish - That site rated it very highly and so I began to use the site more intensively. I was most impressed. My french has come forward really well and i am so entertained by the presentations that I sometimes spend more than one hour "doing french".

Busuu gets it right!. The speed it hits me with new concepts, the lesson length, the number of new words, the nice images, the clear audio, the clean interface; wow, they’re really getting it right!! Nothing annoying! It’s like they actually know how to teach a language, it’s like they know how to build an app. It’s like they know how to do their job! Thanks Busuu dudes who made this so good!

Obsessed. It’s a fun and easy way to learn Korean! Feels like a game and very interactive. You have native speakers correct you when you participate in “pronouncing or writing” in the language you study which is a fun and awesome way to learn. Keeps you more engaged especially seeing updates from people all over the world trying to help you improve 😊

Love it! A few things to note;. The app is amazing, really helps me with Portuguese. But I just want to say one thing, on mobile, when you are completing type-in tasks, press the return button to continue (it confused me a bit at first but just press the return button). Wonderful! 5 stars! Totally recommend it! Although, I do have the premium version. I say that it worth it, really great!

Better than Duolingo. I have been using Duolingo for a long time and have always found it difficult to learn the actual structure and grammar behind Japanese using the app. Busuu sets a pace that is realistic and easy to follow with explainers along the way for the grammar concepts as well as areas to practice understanding and application of grammar. If you are looking for a Duolingo alternative I would definitely try Busuu!

Should add Thai language. Hi there Busuu, I recently have been using your app to study Korean and it is FABULOUS! This app is the best language studying app on the whole phone generation i have learnt soo much, but i feel like many people would like a Thai language to study because its getting popular and harder to find other apps with proper teaching so i think Busuu would improve a lot more with more languages such as Thailand/Thai which i am also looking forwards to study! Thank you so much for creating an amazing app i hope you are able to add Thai language soon!!

It’s the best language learning app!. I tried a few language apps over the years but this is the best one. It’s the only one I found that gives you a test at the beginning to see your level (yes, you can also choose your level without taking a language test). It pairs learning new words with testing the vocabulary you just learned so the words sit with you more easily. The app it’s very well made and the words and phrases are very helpful and you can easily use them in real life, something that I haven’t seen in Duolingo, for example.

Great learning tool for my Japanese study. As an avid Duo Lingo user before this, I find Busuu so much easier for learning. Every time a new word/phrase/number etc is introduced there is information breaking down why it is used and for what purposes which makes understanding sentence structures and why certain things are used so much easier. I also love that they teach both formal and informal words at the same time, so you learn the polite way to say things but also the more casual spoken language too. They also include interesting facts about the culture!

Excellent, with one request.... I have used several language apps over about 3 years but came across busuu only a few months ago. First few weeks have been very positive for me. Good quality, ideal pace and I like having a measure of progress. I’d be interested in knowing if there is a roadmap for new languages that can be shared (even if only broadly indicative). I am specifically interested in Dutch and Romanian. Thanks!

Bullying is a problem. What started off as a fun experience learning a new language and helping others learn, turned into quite a sour experience. I used to use it for hours a week because it’s addictive!! However, after witnessing so many abusive comments by bullies it became an app I dreaded using knowing I’ll probably come across these types of comments. It’s off putting, seeing how nasty people can be to those who are trying to learn, and getting away with it. I’ve tried reaching out to the Busuu team to address my concerns and it’s been a couple of months now, and unfortunately, no response. Even if people can report/flag problematic comments, what’s the point of it doesn’t get deleted? Or reviewed? The bullies may very well be in the minority, but since it’s so easy to verbally abuse, that minority can easily impact and discourage a lot of users. I haven’t used the app in a while because I hate having to see these comments whilst trying to help others with learning English. Actively engaged moderators would be nice.

For Free...It’s Not That Bad. I just downloaded the app and played around a bit and I do like the features that are on there. During my spare time I like to look around and help other people practice. It does kinda annoy me that certain features for example quizzes are only available to premium members (but I can understand why). One thing I would love to have is a chat feature to further practice languages, it will be great to chat and exchange different cultures with people.

Jill Faa. Such a wonderfully organised program! The conversations are so relevant. The vocabulary so practical and the grammar beautifully explained. This is a great learning experience. I would love to see crosswords added to each lesson. I continue to enjoy every moment I can devote to my lessons and wish that there were more hours in the day that I could spend on the program. When are the crosswords going to be available? Thank you again for this beautifully developed program.

Good general concept, French could be better. The core difference of Busuu is the way it engages other learners in teaching you (and vice versa). This works. Busuu assigns you random learners of your native tongue to correct, but it works best for me as a French learner if I correct the work of French speakers learning English, so that a mutual relationship is established. Anyway you are free to establish your own network of teachers and learners among the Busuu subscribers. As for French Busuu was good for brushing me back up to intermediate level after years of rustiness, but contrary to advertisements it maxes out there and there are no advanced lessons in that language. I have not tried others

Language; japanese. So far I’m finding this app interesting, I enjoy having to repeat words through the speaker. The issue I have is that some of the voice clips can be hard to understand as the person talks too fast, mainly with long phrases. Also some of the review questions marked me as incorrect even though it was correct, due to a random space that I wouldn’t think to type from listening to a voice clip or I used the wrong method of writing i.e. writing in romanji instead of hiragana and same the other way around.

Very disappointing customer service. I downloaded this application quite some time ago and used it for a short while but ultimately found it did not meet my learning needs in any way. I deleted the app. The other day I received a notification that my subscription had been renewed. I received no prior notification that the subscription was active and that a renewal would occur, which I typically get for many of my other subscriptions (e.g my Economist subscription and various bills). I emailed them straight away on receiving this notification to state that I wanted a refund as I had already needlessly paid for a year of this service. Additionally I thought I HAD already cancelled this service and I received no prior warning of the funds being deducted. As I found this service useless to begin with, I hardly want to pay for another year of it. The response I received was that this was only refundable 7 days after the initial purchase one year ago. I don’t mind paying for the first year but I do strongly object to this obvious cash grab that would leave many people short of cash just because they forgot to cancel. It doesn’t take much to send an email prior to warn people.

Deeper learning than other language apps. Fantastic learning experience, assessing other users learning from all over the world is an amazing feature. Conversational, daily life focus is intuitive and great if you have some basics already of the language you’re wanting to learn. Paywalls & advertisements are annoying, app should be collectively funded & owned and always free to download & use. Developers need to engage with people working on survival of indigenous languages to bring them into this app, not just most common languages. The future success of this app lies in it’s ability to collectivise, not monetise, and to prioritise indigenous language proliferation.

Great app for learning anywhere. Highly recommended, I just wish your Review section could be more intuitive with the stage of learning you are at, or we could better choose what reviews we do. It’s also too repetitive asking me the same questions repeatedly. Suggest also the questions during the course be a little more specific to the new content learned, as it’s too easy to guess the answer by seeing it’s either estoy/estamos/estáis/están response. Other than that great app!!

Watch out - Busuu may re-subscribe you without your agreement or knowledge. I purchased via the Apple App Store and canceled prior to the end of the subscription period. This led to my access being removed even though I had time left on my subscription. I contacted Busuu to fix this, which they did. However they fixed my subscription by subscribing me via their website without my knowledge, and in doing so, re-activated the automatic renewal process without my agreement. At the end of the subscription period I got charged, even though I had canceled the automatic renewal process and had not subscribed via the website. Signing up individuals to an automatic renewal that they had already made the effort to cancel is questionable business practice. My requests for a refund are being ignored.

Excellent way to learn Spanish. I am floored by how good this app is (for Spanish). The course is structured extremely well and contains everything you want. The lessons are great. You get a really wide variety of questions that exercise all of the skills you need to develop, from listening comprehension to vocabulary recall to “fill out this sentence with the right form of the verb”. My favourite thing is that you learn a new grammatical concept every lesson. It actually explains it to you (rather than assuming you’re terrified of grammar), then gives you questions that require you to use it in context, which helps you internalise it. Not only does it keep track of your vocab so you can learn efficiently through spaced repetition, it does the same thing for the grammar you learn, so you don’t forget it either. Another enjoyable part is that at the end of each lesson, it asks you to come up with your own sentence in response to a prompt. I think this is extremely beneficial because the goal is to be able to express yourself, so it is important to actually produce sentences. These sentences are corrected by other users of the app, and the whole thing is good fun. I’d recommend this strongly (especially compared to Duolingo).

A very useful app.. I’m not sure why I gave three stars instead of four. Maybe it’s because it’s just after a solid Sunday lunch and I’m a little sleepy after today’s lesson… A good app. I have learned French, Latin and Ancient Greek, so not a huge leap to take on basic Italian. This is far superior to the old CD listen only Italian lessons. I think an extra star would be earned with a little more speech recognition practice ie a little more active than passive learning. I’m looking forward to see how much I can improve between now and the Italian wedding! Added an extra star after feedback from Busuu.

Would be great, if all the functions worked. The grammar review function does not work. It only ever gives the same topic on repeat, it never progresses. I contacted the developers and they told me it was my fault as I wasn’t working hard enough. I was getting every question correct, every single time, over and over but the topic never changed. They did eventually tell me that there was a problem with that function, but that they would fix it soon. I have since spoken to another user of the app who stopped using Busuu several months ago because of this same problem. It’s a real shame, as the actual learning content is very good.

Already started speaking Spanish. It almost has been a little more than a week but I have already started making basic sentences which I wasn’t able to do with Duolingo somehow. I’m really enjoying this app every morning. I like to tell you a little bit more about this app. There are exercises not every but after every four or five lessons where you have to answer to an open question in Spanish where later natives give you corrections and can be friends with you. There is another useful part where you can review all the words, phrases, and grammars at one place. I always had a hard time reviewing and remembering words with Duolingo - my only experience learning language was with Duolingo I’m not trying to talk bad about it - I’m not an expert and still consider that Duolingo is not bad, you can still enjoy and have a warming community there. But here the speed of learning is much more faster which will give you a motivation and boost to learn more. Thanks for all the Busuu team members and keep up the good work.

Very disappointed. Automatically renewed without any notifications, and refuse to refund even when I cancelled it on the expiry date. I know the company say they stated it ‘everywhere’ when you sign up. But first of all, you can’t cancel your subscription on the app, not from app store account, you have to go to their website log in your account and cancel it. Second, most of businesses will notify you when it’s close to expiry date, this one apparently choose not to do it. To me these whole auto renew thing is just a scam. I’ve been suing it for quite a few months, initially it was working fine for me, but the more I study, I more I find it not so helpful, it might be just me, but that’s why I stoped using it, and now with all these, I never want to use it again.

Favourite app. Although the free version is riddled with ads, the fact that their IS a free option to work through the course is amazing. It’s a small price to pay, even if you can’t stand the ads and don’t want to pay, they offer a free trial, after activating mine I found myself on the app everyday for long periods of time. Now that the free trial is up i’m looking at their membership and its great to see theyre running a massive 50% off discount on their anual membership! They also have referrals for 30days of membership fee free, that’s pretty awesome, but I think im going to try and hold out to see if they’ll do a lifetime subscription sale, this app is in my top 3 for language learning, I would prefer a one and done payment. I think the interface could be visually more appealing (im a fan of night mode, bright white is a little much for me)and the worksheet exercises could use some adjustments, but the community aspect is great. I find the content of the course to be great, engaging, and I like the way it teaches, esp grammar. S Tier app.

Language learning with a crowd sourcing element.. I’ve been using Busuu for a week and I love it. A really good progression of topics and the option to record or type something to be assessed by the Busuu community. The feedback from real life native speakers is enormously helpful. I love being able to provide feedback to others learning English too. I feel like I’m part of a language-learning team.

Worth the cost. Only offer a free trial on initial sign up so take it and try it to try all features (otherwise you’ll get stuck at lesson 2-3 like I did), but the content is great, the pacing is great. They don’t just let you tap on the translation like some other apps when you get stuck and they’ve already taught you it a few times which makes you actually learn it not just fall into the well I can just use this to fall back on. It has revision for words that it identifies you are struggling with (and you can make your own lists). The year subscription price includes access to all 12 languages unlike some other apps. They say the speakers in the app are native speakers and the French course I’m doing definitely seems so (which will be much better for my accent when speaking French) and the microphone seems accurate when picking up my pronunciation, including not always accepting what I’ve said until it concludes I’m more accurate in the way I’m emphasising certain vowels etc. I have nothing but positives to say about it. At least try the free trial, or even the free version for the first few lessons and decide for yourself.

Top. Best app for learning

Amazing. Amazing just wish I had the money or purchasing wouldn’t be a monthly thing and more just a buy for lifetime.

Great app for learning grammar. I used to use Duolingo before but it only taught new words and phrases, Busuu also teaches grammar and we can also take help from other people to correct our mistakes. I find this very helpful.

Excellent. I have tried a few from Rosetta atone to Duolingo. Busuu is really great for start out. Currently learning Russian. Lots of interactive lessons, native speakers and community help. Do remember its not the only tool you should use but if your just starting get it. I bought the year as it was on sale for half price. 100% reccomended.

Good learning app. Recommend

👌. J’adore! J’apprends beaucoup plus rapidement que d’autres applications!

Bussu is the best. I have been tried to learn English for two years , and I was been upset before I use bussu . Now I'm happy because I am learning English with bussu . It is the best way to learn . I hope getting the best.now I can speak but I am not fluent and I have problem with hearing. I am sure it would be easy and well.

Great language app. Busuu’s comprehensive interactive learning program has proven itself to be a fun and motivating way to learn Italian. Lessons are always interesting, and centre around a variety of topics with vocabulary, grammar and Italian culture in the mix. An added feature is correcting- and being corrected by - other students, creating a sense of community. I highly recommend it!

Une application complète. Excellent application

Great a perfect mix of Duoling and Babel. Love it !

Fun and Nice layout!!. Easy to use. I like how it starts at a basic beginner level but you can skip ahead if you do well on the review test for each level. A good mix of video, audio, pictures and information about the culture of the language you are studying. If the language uses a different alphabet, they start out easy using phonetic spelling in your own language and then they slowly introduce the alphabet a few letters at a time until you’re eventually only using the foreign alphabet. Nice idea of having a community of learners to correct you and learn with.

Continuous Glitches in iOS app & via the browsers in iOS. The response of the support team was prompt enough to the last issues but the mechanism to contact them is counter-intuitive. Before I can resume recommending the app to anyone I look forward to an in-app link to support.

J’adore Busuu. J’ai essayé d’autres applications pour apprendre des langues et c’est l’application de Busuu qui est la meilleure selon moi.

The real deal. Love the social features.

Nice. I can’t stop using it every day.

So fun and easy to learn languages!. As a teacher I’m impressed with the levels of learning methods used to strengthen learning and remembrance (eg. attaching meaning in the language being learned instead of your native language). There’s nowhere for recommendations though! I think there should be lots of audio for listening to conversations that uses the vocabulary you know, with bits you don’t. This way you can learn languages in your downtime without needing to interact with the device and get familiar with the ways the vocabulary and sentence structure is used.

Très bonne application!. Pour apprendre une langue et non seulement des mots, Busuu constitue un bon choix mais attention au renouvellement automatique sans aucun avis. Je considère cette pratique commercialement douteuse.

Structured Well. The lessons are paced well and organized in a way that makes it easy to learn.

Better than DuoLingo. Soo good, totally recommend it! The ads are annoying but otherwise it’s really good for a free app.

Très complet. Nous apprenons très vite avec l’application!

Pretty good but…. Since this app teaches you Japanese, I thought I’d give it a try because I really would like to know it. But as I progressed thru the stages (all in the same day which may be the problem) at stage 6 it read “Premium needed to progress” and as I’m a broke high school student I cannot afford such expenses. And if this is the case where the only way to proceed is paying, Dulingo would be better then this

Fun learning experience. Just great!

AMAZING APP. This is super easy to learn new language like me I’m learning Korean and because of this app I don’t need to do Korean school anymore it’s way much easier and way better sometimes it’s still a little difficult but because how better I am in Korean it makes it easier and there’s even people who can help you with your faults that’s why I rate it a 5-stars!

Very good. This App is so good for english learning

Best ! Best ! Ever !. Meilleure application d’apprentissage jamais téléchargée, très pratique et super interactif! vous comprendrez mieux 👉🏽 Just download 😀

Very expensive. We are poor and we can’t pay too much money for it

great app. love the idea of having native speakers review your exercises and give you feedback. The “social” part makes it more engaging and motivating…

Add more content to courses. Please add more content to Korean courses. The courses go up to a2 for Korean and b2 for Japanese please add more

Great Language Learning App. Great app for language learning

App. I really like this app i feel like im learning a lot

It would've been better with voca. Before starting the lessons, it would've been better if there were some vocabulary previews so that we could understand the lessons easier.

Good app to learn. Nice app but the only thing that bothers me is that the words and sentences in the audio parts are said too quickly and even if i'm not a complete beginner in the language, they speak too fast and it's hard to understand

Poor app, inflated marks, limited content. The app gives false marks to mạe students feel better. Content is very limited and quickly fun out. Avoid!

Complaints about the voice recognition feature. Most content of the app are great but I have some complaints about the voice recognition feature. Many times the app cut in while I was speaking, which I found very frustrating and discouraging. On the other hand, sometimes the app said I’ve got it right when I was only speaking the second word of the sentence. I found the result of the voice recognition feature very doubtful.

By far the best app I’ve tried so far. Even with the free version the most important aspects are still available and the ads aren’t too obtrusive. The community learning is especially great for learning grammar and pronunciation, and is just generally fun. Overall a great learning tool!

Japanese has never been so fun!. The app is very interactive and makes the otherwise tiresome process of memorizing and practice a lot more fun!

Moh. Nice

All in all its gud but need to update this. Gud to use but need starting alphabets So that the base would be clear

Magnífica aplicación. Me encanta aprender con Busuu a mi ritmo y un método super dinámico

Very happy using this app. Perfect app to learn spanish. It’s helps a lot to learn spanish

Thanks. This app is amazing it help a lot I’m a day in and I already know so many words thanks to this app and can have conversations with people in different languages.

Évaluation. La traduction française n’est pas toujours représentative. Les exercices sont parfois trop faciles, les réponses sont trop évidentes.

Wonderful~. Good tool to learn another language☀️

French language. I enjoy a lot learning french with this application🍀I learn a lot and It’s quite a fun 👌🏼👏

Nice. The Duolingo killer ???🤔🤔🤔

Honestly, better than Duolingo. In my opinion this app is 1000 times better than Duolingo, because there are real people saying the words. There are also different courses that you can take for each language so you can learn specific parts. The lessons are also way shorter than Duolingo, so it feels a lot more rewarding, but I also feel that I’m learning the same amount, if not more. I don’t primarily use this. I also have flashcards that I use and I think that’s very important to understand that you don’t just use this app, it has repetition, but not as much as you would need to memorize the words. Another part I really like about this app is the community tab, you can correct other peoples speaking in your native language, and then other people that speak the language you are trying to learn can help you with your mistakes.

SO AWESOME!!. If you’re looking for an app to learn a language, pick Busuu! Unlike some other of the language-learning apps I’ve used, Busuu was the best so far! The app makes sure you learn the basics you’ll actually use first instead of like how to say boy, girl, and random food items. It starts off with how to say hello and bye and how to greet others. Also, how to ask who someone’s name is and to say where you’re from. It has a review section, too. If you want to review any of the words you’ve learned anytime, you can. Other people who speak the language you’re learning can help you make corrections with exercises you do, too. I’m currently learning Italian and a lot of Italian-native speakers have helped me with my Italian. Another great thing, it’s very accurate! I like to use google translate to make sure these are correct, and it does NOT disappoint! So please, again, download Busuu if you want a great app to learn a language from.

Overall Great, but.... I really love this app and the method of teaching because it explains some of the grammar I always wondered about, in my other studies I just remembered the phrases not always understanding why. I also like that you can download the lessons because I travel a lot on long flights and I used to be bummed that I wasn’t able to do that with other apps. Another cool feature is other students can correct your work and you can correct theirs so you can get help from native speakers. Also you can take a placement test before so if you’ve studied before you don’t have to start at the beginning or guess what level you should start at. There is a really good balance between listening, reading and writing which I also really love. The one thing I really don’t like is when you do lessons where you put together sentences the app doesn’t always tell you what the translation is, so even when I get it right I can’t confirm that I know what it really translates to. Another small thing that I don’t really like is if I get something wrong twice the app still lets me pass that level. I would prefer to keep trying to get it right and not be able to pass the level until I do. Even with that I really do like the app and purchased a subscription for a year. I do understand that it is a work in progress and the company will be continuing to make improvements. I do recommend it!

Good app to study, no major downsides.. I purchased the premium subscription (they give you 50% off) to study Spanish. I liked the idea of the social network aspect, and the fact that the texts are read by humans, not computers. Overall, the app feels like a good textbook that was modernized and adopted to be an app, which I think is a good thing (a little bit of gamification, but not nearly the DuoLingo level). I feel that it provides a very well-rounded exposure to all aspects of studying a new language: grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, etc. The downside is that everything is hard-coded, so there will be no infinite supply of tests (for the same words, say) that will keep you on your toes. The review goes over the exercises that you already did in the past, which could feel a little boring. Having said that, I am not sure how big of a deal it is, and I am pretty happy with the app and the purchase.

Thank you Busuu. I was looking for a reliable app to learn Turkish on, and I was between Busuu and Babbel. I chose Busuu because when I came to look at the reviews, I saw that almost every comment had a reply from the developers. That shows me that you really care about your customers opinions and complaints, and that you have integrity. I've been using Busuu for only a few hours now and I've already learned new phrases. It's very reliable and unique, and the premium is worth every penny so far. Busuu isn't only an app to learn a language on but also a small form of social media, as it connects you with people from all over the world who are also trying to learn a language, and you could either help them or they help you. And everyone is so polite. I'm having a good time with the app, I'm actually LEARNING. If you're like me, and you're trying to find out who's the best, pick Busuu. You won't regret it.

Vocabulary Spaced Repetition. Busuu is like any other language learning app the only difference I have found and that I love is the vocabulary section that uses spaced repetition to keep you fresh on vocabulary. You have three categories for words that are strong, words that are weak and words that are medium. There is also a grammar section where you can go to review any grammar concept that you want to review. I’ve used a premium package since last year and got a certificate for A1 and each level gives you a completion certificate. The lessons all focus on one or two concepts and a set of vocab that is used. Think of a regular textbook, but digital with matching, fill in the blank, write what you hear, put together the tiles to make the complete senescence activities add the additional bonus of a Tips for when you need to review a concept quickly without having to redo the entire section. You also have a way to bookmark words so if you want to add it to your vocabulary bank you can. So far each chapter has 6 to 7 sections, a review quiz and if you feel you know a chapter and want to place out you can take a chapter placement quiz to bypass the entire chapter. You also can redo your initial placement test if you want. I did so after a year of studying online through a class and placed into B1. I am still going to review the A2 but it’s good to see how far you’ve proffered.

Great for beginners. It starts the lessons a little slow (I told it I speak intermediate Spanish because I’m not fluent but have taken a college class in Spanish) and it’s taken me back to very very basic phrases Additionally, it skips teaching you how to conjugate verbs which is one of the most important parts of Spanish BUT it has you interacting with native speakers of the language you’re learning which is very helpful for pronunciation corrections and such AND it teaches actually useful phrases, as opposed to Duolingo which teaches me things like “my dog has had lots of beer” or “my cat in in the fridge” or my personal favorite “Excuse me, I am an apple” but Busuu teaches phrases I would actually use such as where I’m from or how to say my name Would highly recommend to anyone starting at about a Preschool level of the language

Good service, but incomplete without paying for the subscription. I really enjoy the app and it is much easier to fit these lessons into my day than the lessons of some other apps, while feeling like I am learning something new and not going through the motions to continue my streak. HOWEVER, if you are not paying for the subscription many parts of the learning process are off limits. This is very annoying and as I continue with the lessons, some of them are entirely unavailable and the next lesson is a little confusing because of the gap. If you are not interested in seeing if this works well enough for you to invest, it may not be great in the long run. For Japanese, the quizzes and many grammar lessons are unavailable when using the freely available lessons. I have learned some nuances about words I already know, so it has still been a good experience. If you can, supporting a great service is good. But if you can’t this can only help you with some portion of learning the language. This is why I reduced their star from 4 to 3. It is still useful but much less so.

It is cool. I love this app teach me how to say French and I love it whenever I go to Paris I will know how to speak French so try this app it’s really good and I love it you should really try it it’s good to all those people who want to speak a language that they don’t know use this app and I will teach you how to speak it so your dream can come true try it and do your dream so one day you can travel the world and you can speak the languageThat you want to speak so try this app and have some fun with it because it’s really good I hope you guys can speak the language that you want to speak and have some fun enjoy your friends to and your relatives and have some good fun this app is real real good and I hope somebody will try it even kids even adults anybody can try this app there’s English French German Italy and lots more so try this app and I hope you love it

One of the best free language-learning apps—an underrated gem. I’ve tried their French, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, and Korean courses. All of them are pretty good except for the Korean course in my opinion: the Korean primary course feels touristy as it doesn’t explain enough about the words it teaches you and its grammar and just throws many random words at you that aren’t often either. I put around five hours in it and left pretty unsatisfied. Even now, I can hardly tell you a single thing I remember or learned from it. On a positive note, the primary Japanese course is quite good, the Chinese primary course is also good (be wary of its slower-paced nature), the Spanish course doesn’t disappoint, and the French primary course tackles its complex grammar well and really gets you familiarized with hearing it, although I wish they could cover informal French more as I’m intermediate yet still can barely understand its colloquial speech.

Love this app. When I first wanted to learn Japanese I noticed that not a lot of apps actually gave the option to learn it. Thankfully I found busuu shortly after and have been using it since! I love how it breaks down the lessons, as well as gives you the opportunity to change what you want to mainly focus on for the day or the plan in which you want to take to learn the language. Plus there’s not only Japanese but so many great languages to select to learn! They also have a little community within the app that allows you to connect with others from those languages and allows you to ask for corrections and feedback from some of your practices. I think it is truly a great app overall and it makes me feel so proud to be able to have the resources to teach myself new languages. Thank you!

Most amazing language learning app!. I think Busuu is amazing! I first used Duolingo and I eventually realized that is was not actually teaching me the right words after a month of trying to learn on it. I found the app Busuu, and it was amazing! I have learned so much and it gives many options to learn different languages. This is the best app I have used to learn a language, it is an amazing app and I so recommend it! This is app is gives many options to choose how to learn that language, I think it is very smart and a very effective way to learn a different language. I highly recommend it over any other platform I have used! It gives many benefits when using and I have used it for over three months and I think I’m in love with this app, I have not used another language app since I found Busuu.

Great learning experience minus the bugs. I really like this app. It’s an enjoyable experience learning as you work towards your A1 Busuu certificate. You can sort of measure your progress that way. However, I have not subscribed to the premium version yet as I’ve come across at least three lessons in the Russian track that “lock up” at a certain point every time I attempt that particular lesson. I close the app, reopen and retake the lesson but it freezes at the same point each time. The only way that I’ve managed to progress is to skip that particular lesson by taking the quiz that unlocks all of the lessons for that module. Otherwise, I’d be stuck indefinitely. I’ve searched for a means on the app to report the error but have either overlooked it or it isn’t available. I do want to reiterate that other than this frustration, the app is great and I would love to take a look at some of the other languages that it offers after I complete the Russian A1 course.

I’m actually learning, rather than memorizing. I have used this app for about a week and compared to several others I have tried, this might be my favorite. That isn’t to say it couldn’t improve on some things, though. Pros: * Grammar lessons! Yes please, I NEED this. I learned something today that I don’t recall learning in 3 years of HS French or a couple semesters in college. * Some opportunities to speak and have pronunciation reviewed. * The placement test put me right where I probably should be. Some material is review while some is new. * I like the opportunity to help someone else improve their English, and being able to have. Native French speaker help me with mine. Cons: * Although I love being given the opportunity to record some sentences, my comfort level with speaking renders me so slow at peace in the words together as to run out of recording time. I would love if I could write out my thoughts first, then speak what I wrote for pronunciation and validation. * I think there could be a bit more repetition of new material before end of lesson. I have a few times left a lesson feeling like I didn’t quite learn some words. Overall it has been a good experience and I will probably try another month to see if I still feel like I’m getting value from it and using it daily.

Favorite language app! Just one little change…. I love this app! Currently using it to brush up on French for an upcoming trip. I like how you can choose the lessons you need most and how it teaches you useful phrases and conversations rather than just basic words. And you can test yourself listening and speaking which most other apps don’t have and is important for real world use. One thing I wish it had was an option for a spelling setting to be turned on or off. As someone using it for travel I mostly need to listen, speak and read. So it can be a bit frustrating when a question gets marked wrong over a minor spelling error (or “almost right” over an accent when my keypad doesn’t have them) because the lesson will keep making you go back to that same question until you get the spelling perfect. Since I am not going to need to write in the language I’m learning this becomes a hold up when I only have so much time to fit it in on a busy day.

Fun!. The app makes learning Spanish fun and enjoyable. So far, the lessons have been very practical and useful for everyday life. The lessons are also not burdensome and overwhelming. It’s easy to incorporate what I learn through the app into my daily conversations with Spanish speakers. I do have a little background in Spanish to begin with, but using this app for a few short weeks has made me feel more at ease and confident when I must rely on Spanish to get through my day. I also like that grammar is explained and practiced mainly in support of practice in conversational skill development. In other words, the app does not expect you to study Spanish grammar for its own sake. I end up talking at my cell phone a lot while I work through the lessons, and that’s what I like about this app—lots of conversational practice. A great app with a reasonable annual subscription fee! Thank you!

Listening, Writing, and Speaking helps comprehension. (Based on my experience with the premium/paid subscription service) It’s a pretty great app for the different languages it offers, and tries to keep the 3 comprehensive engagement styles (see, hear, do) available throughout. Pair that with the feedback & friend options it’s very helpful and encouraging. It does sometimes have a feedback issue when answers are gendered if, for example, you give the feminine and then masculine and the system wanted you to write the masculine first - but you’re not really penalized, it’ll just say it’s wrong even if it isn’t. Also, for vocab, like a lot of language learning systems, it only teaches or saves some of it, so it sometimes includes vocab it hasn’t taught or given previously and you just have to use context clues or work on vocab separately yourself to build that up.

Best language learning app. I’ve tried Drops and Duolingo, but I find that Busuu is much better. You can personalize more readily. It doesn’t make you go through tedious things you already know as Duolingo does. It also has the right amount of practice, review and helpful tips at least for beginning levels. I give the beginning levels 5 stars. There is a huge jump and not as much guided practice once you get to B2. The example sentences contains new structures that are not explained or practiced and I find myself having to look up a lot of words now. I miss having the hiragana. It would be nice having it as a feature one could toggle on and off. The topics are also more removed from daily life. The dialog about natural disasters is scientifically inaccurate and contains inconsistencies. It is irresponsible to suggest that global climate change is far-fetched! All in all, I’m dissatisfied with level B2.

🏆🏆My Goodness this is AMAZING!🏅🏅🏅. First let me say this game has a variety of languages to learn and gives you accurate lessons! I’m learning French and I can already greet my family in the morning and start a formal conversation! This app tells you what words you are struggling on, it lets you download lessons, and lets you speak to people who fluently the language you are learning, these people can correct you and help you along the way! Talk about support! This app is great, splendid! But, it is not without its flaws. While learning lessons sometimes I do miss the meaning of a phrase or do not understand it. So, it would be great if they would tell you what you did wrong and/or the definition of a vocabulary word. Also it would be great if they started to add funny games too. Just so you can have a little more fun instead of only doing lessons and reading for a good 10 minutes. But, again this game is great, I recommend this to anybody that reads their native language well. Thank you for reading this review! 🙂

Great, but. When I downloaded this app it was amazing! I completely fell in love with it, it had absolutely everything I needed and was looking for. Others apps do not have this layout and it just works really great for me. However, and the big problem is, that there is little to none content in the free version of the app. At first I took my placement test for French, and I ended up in level A2, I was so excited! But the lessons of that level and up- there were all for premium users. I could barely complete any lesson past the 40% because everything else you needed to pay for. Basic grammar lessons, review of words, essential topics, all were only for premium users. I think the app is one of the best things ever, but I am a college student I don’t have the budget to pay for the prices they are asking. Bottom line is, maybe more content from the app can also be enjoyed by people that are not premium? I would really appreciate it! -Andrea

I had hi hopes, and they wer reworded!. I’ve been lerning three languages using the little noledge I alredy had of them, and an app that rilly didn’t work well. I got this app hoping it wood be better, and it is! Not only dus it have cleer information teetching you the rools of the language, but you can have natives correct mistakes and give you feedback. You can also do the same thing for other peeple trying to lern your language. I haven’t been using the app for more than too days, so I haven’t run into any problems that peeple have shared in their reviews. So far, it is an amazing app if you just want to no enuff to tock with others. I still think you shood lern in a skool or with a native frend, becus they mite be the best sorse of knowledge for more “modern” style in the language. Also, how’s my English? It was the first language I started to lern wen I was very yung, but gave up. I’m hoping this app can improve it.

Great but can be improved!. Unlike other apps, Busuu is a great tool for learning a language without getting bored in a fairly dynamic way. In addition, it is designed that I can study English effectively by setting the amount of time you can allot for a day, and because it is addictive, I can study every day. In particular, by practicing how to use words correctly in sentences in this app., I can naturally acquire practically necessary grammar. However, one problem is that there is no way to review what I have studied or especially the new words I have learned. The problem is that the more I study a new unit through this app, the more this problem accumulates, and as time passes, I can't remind myself of the words I didn't know or the new words I studied. Therefore, if there is an option to review the contents of the unit I studied previous time, or add the ability to note words I don't know or want to remember while studying, it will be an app that will help my study English.

Better than I expected.. I’m learning Japanese (mainly to exercise my memory) and tried Rosetta Stone and Fluent Forever, they’re both a little tricky for Japanese. I also like it better than Duolingo. Busuu is a very well organized app, as good as a good language book. It guides you through exercises and lessons in a very efficient way. The social aspect of being able to have local language speakers review your work is great. Though it can be hard to get enough contacts from Japan. I use this app in conjunction with Anki (Busuu has its own flash card system but Japanese is so hard I need to just drill Anki decks daily to keep things in my head). I think overall it is pretty great way to get started for a beginner since it teaches vocabulary, grammar, listening and pronunciation. I plan to take the lessons on Busuu as far as they go and then I guess see what I do after that.

No full Korean course. I finished all the Korean lessons available to me without premium and figured if I got premium the rest of the lessons would be available to me. Soon as I got premium it wanted me to update the app so I updated it and still there are no more lessons available. It was great for the basics, but since I already knew the basics and blew through the lessons available in only 2 weeks, the app is honestly useless to me now. I already cancelled my subscription the same day I got it because there is no reason to pay for it if it’s not actually going to teach me anything new. Very disappointing. You should probably only offer courses that are actually complete, I would rather have not been given the option for Korean when I got the app then to finish an incomplete course with no option to learn anything new. It says I’m 50% fluent yet there is no way to get to 100% with this app. Very disappointing and if possible I would like a refund for my subscription since I cancelled it the day I got it because it’s honestly a pointless subscription all things considered.

Updates are detrimental. I love this app and have been using it for several months. However, recently it was updated to look cleaner, which is fine. However, now I can’t access old lessons. And this may not be a problem for some people, but I stopped studying for a weeks due to school starting back up. When I came back, instead of being able to restart the previous lesson I was on, it only let me continue from where I had left off. I had to struggle through the rest of the lesson because I couldn’t recall what I studied at the start. And then, when I finally got through it and could redo the whole thing the proper way, it only lets me do the first part of the lesson and won’t let me access the rest of it. On top of that, the play button is now overlaid on the photos that are used. I’m learning Japanese and this means that the kanji are partially covered and I could be missing strokes since I can’t see the whole thing. Please fix this. I love this app and really want to continue learning, but these changes are detrimental.

Definitely worth 5 stars!. So I’ll preface by saying I’ve tried a handful of language learning apps, none of which work for me. They start throwing phrases at me that I don’t know, they don’t actually teach things. But Busuu is a whole different game. I’m actually learning! I got to choose what my final goal is, and since I chose to pay for premium, the benefits, I find, almost outweigh the cost. They have a learning plan for you to follow, and if you’re serious, it’ll actually get you to your language goal by the end date that they set for you. I would like to see a chat system or something, so you could message a friend with a question. And also! My BIGGEST complaint is that you can’t delete a comment/correction that you post. So many times I post a correction and I find that there’s a typo, but now I can’t delete it and I end up looking silly. Anyway, tldr: great, GREAT app! Highly recommended. For sure consider premium.

Free Busuu Beats Free Duo in Dual Trials. I am alternating between Busuu and Duolingo to learn Italian for free. I find Busuu does a better job of giving me exposure to the sound of the language right away. It’s great to get/give real world native speaker feedback. Duo started out with an altruistic free-education-for-everybody model but over the years it has become punishment focused—particularly for those who won’t fork over money—kicking you off the program if you make too many mistakes. A mistake presents the EXACT moment of opportunity to lean in and learn. Shame of mistakes shies folks away from learning new languages. So I don’t know what they are thinking here. And even if you don’t make mistakes, in Duo you are periodically subjected to punishingly moronic loud ads. In contrast, Busuu ads are silent, not noisy punches in the ear. Shame on Duo for losing the wisdom of the owl and capitulating to profit over people. Bravo, Busuu!

My Review of Busuu. I rarely write reviews for apps but Busuu is such a great language learning tool. Its interface is easy to use and navigate and I love the ability to learn alongside native speakers of the language you are learning. I used the free trial and have found myself learning a lot over the time I’ve spent so far and I keep wanting to learn more. I’ve been using the app for about 8 days and have spent close to 15 hours studying German. It has been enjoyable to help those who are learning English and to be helped by those who know German. I’ve also found myself learning more about British grammar because the English that Busuu teaches is British English so I’ve realized I need to be more careful when correcting others’ English. I realize this will probably be lost in a sea of other shining reviews but Busuu has been a fun experience so far and I can’t wait to keep learning!

The worst customer service ever. I used to enjoy learning with this app until they added their “role playing” videos which to me looked way too amateur. Anyway, I’d purchased a yearly plan and despite the fact that I had cancelled it and my subscription status had an exact expiration date, I still got charged for another year! When I contacted them exactly a minute after I got charged they were like “ we’re sorry you THOUGHT you had canceled your subscription, no refunds will be issued” I had never encountered such service before. Update: Now they are trying to “clarify “ things for me and telling me how a subscription works as if it’s my first time subscribing to an app. I appreciate the developer’s respond to my feedback. However, my problem was not the renewal, I think we’re not on the same page. I had canceled my subscription and as I mentioned, there was already an exact date for the end of my service either under my profile or somewhere else but I’m certain of it. Despite that, I got charged for a another year at full price and I was denied the refund. I don’t know if it was a bug in the system I was dealing with or else but it wasn’t cool.

Better than duolingo. Ive had this app for a bit and I’m learning Japanese. This game does everything duo does, but better. The only thing I don’t like about this app is how it begs you to get premium. I’m fine with a pop up every now and then, but when I’m quizzing myself over words in the review tab after a few questions it asks you to get premium before every question. If it was maybe once or twice through a lesson, it would be fine but every singe question having a pop up is kind of annoying. Other than the premium-begging this app is really good for learning a new language! Edit: Thanks for responding! I hope you take my idea of only having a pop-up twice in the review into consideration. I’ve used it a bit more and I’m changing from 4 to 5 stars because of the very helpful hiragana lessons. Busuu is better than duo!

Not enough review of previous lessons. Seriously there is a lot of new material words as well as grammar is given at every lesson, but review is only for vocabulary. Im trying to learn French and as an example in one of the lesson you flash a table in the “tip” section with a table of irregular verbs and their form to make a “passé composé” , and then some review of this verbs happen through the lesson so if I could not remember them all at one then to get though the exercise its a lot of try and errors, and lots of frustration (I guess I could have make a screen gab and cheat with it to go through....). I believe the learning should be a little bit more fun at least for me unless you are in live or die situation, were a lot of people are clearly not.... and lack of repetition and review of the grammar could eventually form gap in the very basics. Im not in position to give you any advice how to teach foreign language cause clearly you have much more experience in doing that, I just provide you a feedback. What I really like is that you have a lot of real life phrases which I think could be useful

Maybe the best and most comprehensive LLA. I love this app. The structure is amazing and well organized. Very pedagogical. Very focused. Much more so than competitors. And with options for live tutoring and standardized testing for certificates, it is likely the most comprehensive LLA out there. The scaffolding for production lessons is well done. This structure gives the learner confidence and the opportunity to build on previous knowledge and put it into practice, while not making he learner feel overwhelmed or that they are being pushed too hard to produce when they are not ready. The app does an amazing job at anticipating the level of the learner. Great pacing! The built in spaced repetition flash cards are a huge advantage over other leading language learning apps. More could be done to enhance feedback, overall. This is the challenge of LLAs as opposed to in person instruction.

Pretty Good so far. So I was trying out some language learning apps because I’m trying to learn spanish. I was checking out the subscription prices for busuu because I liked how the app was set up and all. I was going to screenshot it to think about it later, and when I put my thumb on the home button to screenshot I accidentally purchased the 1 year plan with my fingerprint 😂. So I tried to cancel it but it won’t let me cancel the subscription. I mean the price really wasn’t too bad for a 1 year plan, and I like the app. So yeah hopefully by the end of the year I’ll be bilingual I guess. Overall it’s pretty great though, it’s got a lot of different ways to learn and I really like how you can have people who natively speak the language to show you what you are doing wrong with your speaking. It’s a great app and I think it’ll really help me learn spanish, really my only complaint overall is that they won’t let me cancel my subscription.

Great app, but I have requests. This is a very good language app, and I’ve learned quite a lot from the lessons. The community aspect is very helpful and the people are nice and respectful. There is clearly a lot of effort put into it. I would like to request additional conversation pictures and videos (specifically in the Russian language, I am unsure if this applies to all languages). Some videos are private and cannot be accessed, and the pictures provided are unique, but there isn’t much variety and are very situational in their general usefulness (not necessarily bad, but more would be appreciated). All in all, this is a 5/5 app, it delves into nuances of the language and minor aspects that may be overlooked and I appreciate that. If I am missing something that gives me the opportunity to converse with the community using different placeholder images/videos, I’d appreciate a reply in the matter. Again, though, very well made and a lot of smart choices.

The idea is there, but the learning is not.. First of all, this app is pretty complex. I have been learning Spanish for a while now and tested straight into B1. It says I’m 61 percent fluent, which is clearly not right. The way it teaches new words doesn’t give you enough of a chance to really get it into your head before it’s giving a quiz to fill in the blank with the words. Apps such as Duolingo start off with you choosing the words, you get to see them, use them in sentences, figure out how it’s used in sentences, then as you progress through the lesson, it slowly starts forcing you to use the words yourself without completely throwing you overboard. I didn’t even get a chance to learn how to spell the word in writing before it was quizzing me. It’s also EXTREMELY picky with words, it asked for entire phrases for fill in the blank portions. And I feel like at B1 you don’t understand completely some of the conjugation they throw at you. The structure is there, but it doesn’t promote you really solidifying the new information from the start.

So far so good. At 30 dollars a year, it’s definitely not a bad deal, especially if you can maintain a pattern of engagement. As with almost any app, updates such as simple ease-of-use and additional tools would improve user interface, not a big deal though. Native speaker corrections are, for the most part, quite useful. I can only see this app getting better in the future, as it has taught me immense amounts of grammar that might have taken many more months and dollars to understand. In short, if you would like to improve the structure of the language you are learning/have learnt, this is probably a good app for you to try. Not to mention, there are free portions that are less grammar-focused to show you how the app can be before a subscription/purchase is ever made. Amateur or fluent, Busuu may prove to be a nice challenge with its own rewards, if language learning is an interest you share. Cheers.

I like it.. I like this app so far. It allows you to speak and share with native speakers of your language of choice. The only thing I am struggling with is learning alphabet with Arabic. The flash cards give you pictures, but when you get quizzed they sometimes may give sentences or match making with words. If I do not know the alphabet I have no way of knowing what it says even if I have learned the phrases or words. I’m not sure what to do about that. May I suggest a more in depth breakdown of the alphabets for each language? My language is Arabic and they have some interesting sounds that we do not use in the english language. To see the letter and know the sound associated with it would help tremendously The rest is really cool. I find it fun and engaging. As someone hoping to become an ESL teacher some day soon, I really enjoy correcting and helping the others’ exercises . Everyone is so kind and thankful. You really get a sense of purpose. Chokran/ Thanks!

Incredible app, but can’t login on browser. Hi team! I love Busuu for studying languages! I’m currently in the process of learning French and Spanish. By far the best at home resource I’ve used (I’ve used Rosetta Stone and Duolingo premium versions in the past). That being said, I made my account in the app through the Apple ID signup. I would love to use the Busuu website on my computer, but can’t login since it’s through Apple and there’s no option to sign in that way on site. I haven’t encountered this issue but so suppose it could cause problems in managing account settings since you have to do it through the website. tl;dr — Incredible, comprehensive system of language learning compared to competitors. However, Apple ID sign in isn’t available on the desktop website, so you’re limited to the mobile app if you make your account that way.

Best Language Learning App I have found yet. Busuu is an incredible application for learning a new language. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn a language outside of the classroom. I do have some recommendations particularly with some of the exercises and lists. It would be nice to always have the user’s native language translation for every word, phrase and sentence in the lessons. Also, it would be helpful to be able to navigate back to previous pages in a lesson to help when you may not remember what was introduced. Lastly, it would be nice to be able to create custom lists and to be able to send a word or phrase to a chosen list during the lesson. Possibly enable a bookmark feature where a user could periodically go back and review activities they bookmarked. I’m sure I’ll have more suggestions as I use the application more but these are a few that I wish were available already. This is still “hands down” the BEST app I’ve come across! Except job!

Terrible. I switched to Busuu after using Babbel for Russian since I wanted a change in platform to learn Chinese, and I thought Busuu would be a good fit. I learned some Spanish as well, and while the Spanish lessons are good, the Chinese lessons aren’t. It starts by showing Chinese characters and the Pinyin forms of them, but by lesson 4 the Quiz’s (That you have to pay for) are practically useless. If you can’t read Chinese by lesson 4 then you’re pretty much out of luck. I can’t really progress after this cause there’s no option to get help if you can’t read the Chinese characters yet, which is really frustrating. With all languages it doesn’t even compare to competitors like babbel. It offers the main lessons and that is it. Babbel offers that and more, grammar review, individual lessons on new vocab, etc. Live lessons aren’t included in the subscription service which is the one thing Busuu has going for it, but since you have to pay for them seperately it’s not worth it at all. Use something else, Busuu offers barely anything. Edit: App now crashes on startup, won’t even load. Not worth your money.

I like it more than duolingo. I’ve only been using this app for 3 or 4 days n I already know so much. I like the way the teach u everything u need to know like the basics first and the way they don’t limit how much u can learn. Compared to duo lingo which I have a streak of over 400 days yet I don’t know anything besides a few words. I’ve been trying to learn Spanish for a very long time but duolingo has been the only free option I could find yet it has never really helped as there teaching style doesn’t suit me I guess. Though seeing as I’ve only been on the app for little time I’ll have to update this in the future but I like this ALOT more and I’m also more motivated to learn on here than duo it actually make me want to learn and not js do it to keep my streak up. They also have feedback u can get from actual people who speak the language your trying to learn I would 100% recommend it to someone who is actually trying to learn a language.

Amazing!. I LOVE this app. I’ve been using Duolingo on and off for years to learn Spanish, but with their more recent updates it’s become increasingly difficult to progress with lessons without paying for premium (which doesn’t feel worth it in my opinion). That led me to look for other apps when I came across Busuu and I absolutely love it. The best part is the fact that you can communicate with native speakers to get corrections on your translations, and I love the way the lessons are laid out. It also seems like the phrasing is much more natural; I’ve asked family and friends (native speakers) about things I learned in other apps/classes and they were often confused or explained that certain phrases are very proper and an unusual way to say something. But with Busuu, the same people said what’s taught is much more natural and familiar to how people really speak.

Great app for language learners.. I’ve been using Busuu for a few days and the interface is smooth, it’s easy to understand. The fact that you can also set a lesson plan to learn at your own pace with built in reminders to use the app daily is a great function. You also have the ability to learn multiple languages at once, though if you want to create a study plan for the second language it will delete the study plan for the first so that is one issue I found. Ultimately the best function with this app is the interaction with native speakers, when you’re done with a lesson you have the option to either write or speak about what you’ve learned and it gets sent to the community for review and users can correct your pronunciation/spelling etc. It’s amazing to get feedback from natives, and if they are learning your language you can add eachother and correct each other’s exercises after each lesson. All they would need now is a direct message system and the app would be great.

Best lenguaje app!. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This app is perfect. I started to learn Italian a few weeks ago and I have to say that this app is the only one that has adapted to what I want. Is super easy to use and it teaches you in a didactic way. It gives you lessons at the same time it provides dialogues and audios so you can actually know the correct way to pronounce the words. One thing that I like about is that it also gives you the opportunity to test what you’ve learn by interacting with natives speaking and they can correct you if you have any mistake. I think this is a great way to learn! Also, the app helps you plan when and how much time you want to study per week. Personally I like to dedicate at least 45 min to study everyday, but if you’re a busy person I think you could dedicate even 15 min and you would be learning a lot. If you wanna learn a new language and don’t know where to start, try this app! You won’t regret it!!

Suggestions. Hi! My name is Owen, and i’m currently learning Japanese on this app. This app does an excellent job of teaching and reinforcing information. It’s great that the app uses native speakers to help correct others work! I understand that this app has people pay money to use quizzes and other features to keep it add free, however I was wondering if it were possible to get quizzes and help from native speakers by watching ads for helping others with their exercise. (Of course leave out certificates) Unfortunately since I can’t complete quizzes I can only get 67% completion on my lessons and it discourages me from keeping the app. I would love to keep the app but i’m unable to pay and I know it’s a long shot to have someone read my review and actually think it’s a good idea to have a “trade-off” to get quizzes and help from native speakers. Although i’m most likely going to uninstall this app, I still love it!

Excellent Language Learning App. I have tried many language learning apps. Duolingo, Rosetta Stone, Rocket Languages, Mondly, Memrise, Speakly, Beelinguapp, Drops, Babbel, Pimsleur, and many more. Busuu is one of my favorites. The lessons are short, usually 5-10 minutes. So you can do a quick one here and there or do 3-5 of them if you have more time. They lessons and exercises are VERY useful sentences (as opposed to Duolingo’s nonsense sentences), and the BEST part of Busuu is the community feature. You can practice speaking and get excellent feedback from native speakers all around the world. I also love that they have a free version. I paid for premium, because I didn’t know about the free version, but I’m happy to pay because I think it is worth it, but I love recommending Busuu to friends and family who can also use it for free. Pimsleur and Rocket Languages are the best language learning apps, but they are very expensive. Busuu is very affordable, if not free, is almost as good, and has the community feature no other app has. I have used Busuu every day for over a year now and I love it. I use it daily for Spanish, but I have also done some lessons in Japanese, Russian, and Chinese. I learned more in one week with Busuu than I did in three months on Duolingo. Duolingo is fun and addictive, but you learn very little. You will learn 2-3 times as much on Busuu in half the time.

One of the better language apps. I like this one better than other language apps because it does offer a free version that you can use at all times, unlike other apps that give you “lives” and if you mess up you have to wait for your lives to fill back up, which ultimately makes it hard to learn a language when you only get limited attempts to answer questions. Busuu is great in that regard that it doesn’t affect you if you mess up, you simply guess an answer again. However, to access more vital parts of the app, like quizzes, you’ll need to pay for premium. I’m liking premium so far, and feel like I’m actually learning something, so I’d say it’s worth giving a try. There’s also a nice feature where people can correct each other’s sentences, so you can have someone who speaks the language you are learning give you insight!

Only worthwhile if you pay for it. Using the free portions of this app is really frustrating because you can’t take the final quizzes or even read most of the grammar lessons. Also, the app constantly reminds you to practice your weak words and if you click on the vocabulary of course you can’t use that feature until you pay. That being said, this is a pretty good app if you pay for it because it mixes written, spoken, and receptive forms of the language and has a variety of relevant ways to quiz learners. The lessons generally take less than 10 minutes each. There is a large network of users and the „conversations“ feature allows native speakers of your target language to provide feedback and correction to each learner. The grammar is hard to learn from an app, so I take notes on those sections. I feel a lot more confident after about a month. There are also placement tests for those who have previously studied a language!

Started out okay then went crazy. I downloaded your app to study Brazilian Portuguese. The first lessons were great, they explained a lot of the how and why of the grammar rather than just throwing words at me. I completed the A level and I figure I’ve learned a couple hundred words at most. THEN comes the B level and BAM! All of a sudden I am being given long sentences with words I have never learned, conversations that rattle on and on and I am supposed to know exactly what everyone is saying and to spell everything correctly on the first try. It’s like I went from kindergarten to freshman year of high school in two steps. Going back to review past lessons is tedious and the app doesn’t “bookmark” when you go backwards so I can’t see what I’ve just done and where I should go next. And the community page where other people correct our mistakes is STILL showing the oldest corrections first?! Come on Busuu, you can do better than this. People flocked to you as a replacement for Duolingo after their format changed but you’re just as bad! Deleted your app TODAY.

Amazing App. I’ve written a review in the past, but thought I would give an update as I took some time away from the app. Why I stopped using Busuu I’m not sure. Pretty sure I just got sidetracked with life in general. I absolutely LOVE utilizing this app for language learning. There aren’t any shortcuts with learning something new or developing a skill, but Busuu sure does make it a lot easier! You’re able to learn a new language without it being over complicated. Review is also super easy. Not only do you get to review phrases and words as you continue with the lesson, you can also quiz yourself on words and phrases that you’ve “favorited”. It’s perfect. Since the app has been updated I love it even more. Having a language learning plan and notifications to remind me to study keeps me on track for my learning goals. I’m excited to see how much I progress over the next few months!
