Jsbow-long - Better and better- not perfect
This app gets better and better but it isn't perfect. The app has great features and a few clunky ones. More good ones than it used to have. They are being improved over time. All in all, I'm happy with my experience. I can return books I didn't like if they are returned within 6 months. I don't read (listen to) them that quickly. I buy faster than I listen to them. Some times I finish them and the "finished" indication doesn't stay associated with the book through app revisions. Not Cool!
The stories included in the titles are often well done but some presentations need serious rework - not many - but the choice for presenter could sometimes be improved. I've listened to a couple dozen different presenters by now ( a couple hundred books ). If those that were "flat" could be trained or replaced with more skilled people a lot of the stories would be better but, sometimes the story is the problem and that is a shame. It becomes easier to tell the difference between problems in story and presentation as you hear more of each. The short samples offered before you buy are most helpful ( at least to me ) only after my ear has become trained by listening to a goodly number of books by many presenters.
Gale22 - Most used app I have aside from gps
Love this app so much. Had it for years and does not disappoint. Thank you for being here, existing and being in my life. Such a great idea and concept. Sorry it took me so long to rate this amazing app! Get it, you won’t regret it, so many wonderful title and books and not over priced!
Update: This is still a great app but it needs to be said that the home tab is waaay too much noise visually speaking. Way too many suggestions and advertised books for an app. It’s not a clean look and honestly it’s ugly. The app needs a more sleek minimalist feel for ease of use. I literally get anxiety seeing the homepage with all the extra books recommendations, catalogues and so forth. When I use the app I just want to get to the point not be defaulted to a crazy looking page foot of book images. Please higher someone to update your app comestically. With the IOS update people are discovering less is more with widgets and less apps. Try to use that same concept, I want to see recommendations make it the last tab not the first. Have the first tab be the library and instead of a line chart of books maybe give the option of line display or chart display, just something more sleek please.
Update 03 May 2021: The app skips the audio for some reason and when the screen goes dark it stops playing. Please fix this. This is pretty frustrating and my settings don’t have anything that causes this to happen.
Goodvibesgoodbooks - Can’t wait to get my hands on her next!
This was one of those books that you not only savor, but you swap between physical and audio because you can’t get enough. The setting was perfect, the characters were hilarious, and the depth was just right. You follow Marin as she takes on a role she never thought she would be in.. PR and media manager for a rock band. But she not only crushes the position, she gains a crush on a band member. You follow along with the band and crew as they make their way all over the country on tour. You see them banter, you see them prank and you see them fall in love.. or lust. I usually have something to knit pick about whether it’s lack of charter build or creating an atmosphere you feel a part of, but Lisa did nothing for me to knit pick. This world was so well thought out, I can’t wait to dive into every single book I have of hers and also... I really need a prequel to see how Craig and Phoebe started. The only reason I gave this book a 4 rather then a solid 5 was I had a bit of a rough time with the big problem and how quickly it seemed to be resolved, I wish it would have been a little longer and we got to see more effort and what happened to.. patch things up on all accounts. I’m a girl who doesn’t trust easily and loses trust quickly so I have a hard with any story that someone’s forgiven too quickly.
RealizmHF - Great Service at a premium price
Audible works great, I can find great titles, get samples of the voices, and I even get a free credit with the higher tier subscription with a few more “premium” titles. The issue for audible is turning the everyday subscriber into a customer; like myself. I pay $10 and watch hundreds of movies and tv shows that last a few hours to hundreds of hours depending on the title. The budgets are bigger, the price for the customer is lower. I pay $10 and listen to thousands of songs, many just a few minutes, some can be hours. I also enjoy podcasts... for no additional fee. Now we get to Audible where I pay $12, more than the others, and get 1 pick and like at an old movie store I become limited and find it difficult to choose the only free title I’ll get because the rest you have to pay for. I loved the audio books, but I’ll never stay a subscriber when I have other content for cheaper and without a secondary pay wall. I listened to a single book in a week, so that’s 4 books a month on average. Since only 1 is free, I could be paying $30, $50, $100 more for the other titles. I signed up with a free trial, stayed for a month after, but will sadly cancel after as they haven’t nailed down a way to monetize in a way that I can have access to hundreds of premium free titles for a low monthly cost.
Lila Bleu - Vivid Beach Settings and Authentic Characters Learn to Find Happiness
It took a little more than usual for me to get into the book; at first,It started off feeling too much like a cliché, but that changed after the first few chapters. After reading the book, it almost feels like that was the author’s intention to provide a stark contrast for the character development throughout the book or possibly the author became a better writer once she fully built her world. I really enjoyed the vivid setting descriptions of the “Pond” and the city(really all of the settings were wonderfully sketched through words in the reader’s mind), the characters felt so authentic that I was sad when the story ended, and the structure was also essential to the plot: going between the past and present at various stages, but also within one day at the beach house in the present. It could get a little confusing at times, but this made me pay attention more so I didn’t mind. There were times when I was so angry at the main character, and mother(s), that I literally yelled at her (them)through my phone. It was never the main character’s fault, but she made so many poor, weak choices at times. It reminded me of the human flaws and regrets we all have or carry.
Trithseeker - Rising out of hatred
An amazing account of personal transformation. I too grew up with a racist father, surrounded by all of the rhetoric in this community. Awful. I love the courage it took for Roland-Derek to challenge his indoctrination and to find the strength to cut ties with beloved community, even family. That is the hardest part. For real. He said there is guilt in the interviews I’ve seen of his regarding what he helped create. Well, that was happening anyway. The good he has created through his total honesty, vulnerability and accountability - and willingness to speak publicly about it - stands taller and provides more light than any darkness the white nationalist... movement could ever create. He is a light bearer, and it is especially powerful and illuminating BECAUSE of his history. Roland-Derek provides an example of someone to challenge and think for himself within a fear-based, constraining movement. My hat is forever off to this gentleman, a man of TRUE wisdom and bravery while surviving the very human heartbreak of leaving a beloved community that no longer serves. He and Alison are putting their lives on the line by speaking out. I am grateful to Eli for penning this book, and all the others willing to allow their names into this story. Your courage and truth DEEPLY inspires me.
MsGettingFit - I was at my wits end with how to change my life
I literally was crying the other day from frustration at the knowledge that I create my own reality but did not know HOW. So there I was on the floor of my kitchen bawling my eyes out and suddenly I had a sense of peace come over me. A couple of days later, I searched in Audible the terms magic money manifesting and this book popped up. I honestly didn’t have much hope for it, because it seems like all of these books that claim to give a person techniques just re-hash the same old stuff. This author didn’t do that. He gives practical how to methods that explain different perspectives and details on how to REALLY harness your inner power and apply it to your life. I feel empowered. I took notes this book was so informational, I’m going to listen to it again! Don’t hesitate to get this book! It really will change your life. You can tell that the author spoke from the heart and put a lot of inspired work into this. Sitting on that floor I begged God to help show me how to use the power I know he gave us all to manifest a better life for me. And this book stood out to me. So that’s how I know it is special and must have been inspired. Prosperity and Goodness to you all!
Laurabrba13 - Love it!
UPDATE: another several years in, and Audible is still the app I use EVERY day. Because it is the best! Bug fixes and design tweaks have kept it moving forward, without ever making me think “aw it was better before the update.” (Looking at you, iPhone!). Audible is the only app I would take with me to a desert island. Yes. It’s that good.
UPDATE: it’s been 8 years now and other than the text messaging apps, Audible is easily the most frequently used and loved app in my phone, by far. With the recent improvement so it’s now possible to buy new audiobooks with credits through the app, it’s even better. Audible, I’m your #1 fan!! (Apologies to Stephen King.)
I've been using this app daily for over 2 years now and love it. Are there bugs? Yes. Is it perfect? No. But the problems others complain about are really minor to me. Sleep isn't on the main screen, but one touch brings it up. For me what's relevant is how vast an improvement this player is over the only other I've used, Overdrive, which feels like something out of the Middle Ages by comparison. I know the Audible app's quirks and don't have a problem with them, because it works beautifully. Every day. <3
Ocdknitter - Audible Books
I’ve been a member on/off for many years. You pay a monthly/annual fee and get credits based on your subscription. The fee you pay is often less than the price of most audiobooks. You can pay for the book or use a credit. There are lots of reviews, some are fake but most seem to be genuine. I like that you can hear a 3-5 minute sample before purchasing. I have gotten credits refunded for books I was unhappy with, (books I didn't listen to completely). Customer service has been great. I had to discontinue membership for a while and lost nothing during the time I canceled my membership. I kept the credits I already had and all of the books I had in my library. Starting my membership again was easy.
I do wish that reviewers would add ore detail instead of simply saying ”I like the book”. That’s not a review. Why do you like/dislike the book? Was it clean, full of profanity, sex, violence? Was this book fit for the whole family? Did the story flow, was the narrator easy to listen to; did they have an annoying voice, were the characters voices distinguishable? That’s a review! A review is meant to help other customers decide if they want to purchase the book or not.
Wulfeman - Bring back option to hide finished titles, for 5 Stars.
I’ve been an audible member for about 20 years ( whenever the service started). I have well over 1000 titles in my library (most purchase, prior to new system, with free titles). I occasionally listen to portions of one book, before switching over to another (especially, when a desired preorder becomes available). Previously, it was easy to locate books that I needed to return to, by hiding all finished titles. Since the new system was unveiled, this has been reversed.
I don’t quite understand the utility of being able to see all titles in your library that you have already completed. Showing titles that you haven’t started is if some use, but it fails to show anything that even has a few seconds played. So if I accidentally tap on the wrong title and get past “This is Audible”, prior to going back and selecting the title I actually want, it will no longer show up as not started. EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING!!! Please fix this for your most loyal members!!!
A secondary improvement would be to extend the Apple Watch Complication, so that it will permit control / book selection of titles on your paired iPhone, rather than having to download the book to your watch.
Small hobbit - Don’t fix what worked!
I don’t know why they decided to change the app, but they did. Before, the library section (which is the content I have via the app) was pretty well organized and could be perfectly navigated between what was actually on my device and what wasn’t. Now it’s a mess of a screen with huge empty margins taking most of the space (a recent addition to mobile development that I don’t understand because I though the point was to USE the space as effectively as possible) and the scrolling is WAY to floaty (I only have to barely have to have my finger on the screen and it’ll move)
Now, honestly Audible is a little to expensive of a subscription service for my taste. They only give you 1 credit at a time and STILL treat their service more like a rental than actual ownership (so I don’t know why they don’t move to a “unlimited” model subscription and stop acting like their credits actually mean anything) I already had bad experiences with the service in the past with the service, but decided to try to give it another shot. I don’t think I’ll give them anymore past this. The quality of the app is quickly going downhill (besides what I already mentioned above I also keep getting warning messages about being on a slow connection when my internet is just fine) and there are now MUCH more better services around that handle audiobooks better than they do.
Rim a - I Love Audible...But...
I’ve had Audible for nearly 5 years. I started as a way to help me get back to reading since physically reading was somewhat limited by reality. But now when I walk my dogs, run errands, go to the work related matters, drive for a long road trip, ride my bicycle, or even work in the kitchen, I always make sure to have books to listen to. My library has at least 300 by now, and I love seeing it grow. I also love the whisper sync for Kindle which lets me read or listen. I also love the integration with my Alexa devices. I can go from room to room without wasting my phone battery, and have her keep reading to me.
Here are my only two recommendations:1- this is the most important. Please for the love of all that is holy let us organize our books by subject matter/ category or whatever we call it like we can in Kindle! I need to do this on my PHONE as I cannot scroll through the ALL my books to find old books I’ve forgotten are even there. I need to put them by category. Please please please do this most basic thing for your subscribers. 2- please have more whisper sync and more affordable ways to purchase kindle after purchasing the audible.
TropiqueInCA - Save your eyes
Truthfully speaking, I have never been a fan of reading. This is a bit ironic being I hold a MSBA in business. But then after discovering Audible, wow I’m amazed with all that I am listening to. In my profession, I’m on the computer several hours in any given day. So by days end the last thing I want to do is pick up a physical book and read. Seriously, I use to turn articles into PDFs , use the computer ‘listen to’ feature, bout music in the background and write notes for my class. An occasional glass of wine certainly helped. One podcast for a required class (book was online) the professor who narrated the book was so monotone you’d fall asleep. By the end of the class session in the podcast I would have a great nap. So instead I went to the gym, Wales on the treadmill and stayed awake. The pint is that wa 14 years ago and technology as well as people’s skill have evolved over time for the greater good. I would especially live to thank audible for creating this platform and the many authors and narrators who provide valuable content. I’m constantly inspired and appreciate being an Audible ‘Superfans.’ Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Lacies opinions - Incredibly helpful and easy to use ap!
I am so impressed with this ap! I had caved on one of the ads for this ap on fb and saw that they had a free trial with two free books so I decided to try it. I listened to part of one book and then haven’t had much time to listen since and actually kinda forgot about it. I received an e mail today from audible which reminded me I needed to cancel my trial before being charged bc I wasn’t ready to pay the monthly subscription just yet and unlike most apps I found the customer service for this company was incredible! Right under settings in the ap lists a phone number and easy access to ur subscription information. I called the number to find out where I was in my trial and was impressed with how quickly they answered and told me I still had a few weeks left and she could cancel it now or I could enjoy the rest of it and call back to cancel the day before. She also returned the book I originally ordered bc I wasn’t that into it and now I have my two free book credits left! I highly recommend this ap to anyone bc of its easy to use settings, outstanding customer support, and wide section of books available! Great Job audible!
Javier rover - Disappointed with App Change
I’ve been an avid member for I’m thinking at least a decade and I just discovered that you have removed all my reading statistics and levels of accomplishment in the app. Naturally I won’t quit but I loved that aspect of the app and it gave me a continued sense of achievement and accomplishment. Please return this feature it means so much to me or show or tell me where you moved it to. Thanks for listening.
I have now discovered that my review above is not exactly correct the statistics are still there. However, because I had two accounts, recently consolidated into one the one I have remaining shows me as having achieved scholar while in fact I have long since passed Master level. That bothers me greatly. May seem a small issue to but not I. Also, what’s the level above Master as when your records are updated I will surpass that easily. Even if you don’t make the update I will still obliterate Master level and there must be others. Anyway once I hear from you I will update to 5 stars.
Finally, I wish you would find a way where I can find and purchase books inside the App if apple don’t like it so what, just buy them out and make a better policy.
Jdempsey12345 - This should be a 5-star review-30 second rewind gone
Unfortunately recent updates of the app changed what was an elegant solution to an important feature to one that doesn’t work at all.
In past versions Audible app had a feature that quickly allowed you to change the rewind or advance buttons from ones that rewound to the beginning or ends of a chapter to one that changed the buttons to rewound or advance 30 seconds only. Even better you could tap these buttons multiple times and, for example, quickly replay a short passage you need to hear again.
The most recent updates killed this value-added feature and made it so you have to swipe backwards and forwards an indeterminate time.
This feature is value taken away! I am an avid listener and have purchased almost 600 books from Audible. The content and some of the narration are excellent. I hope they pay attention to their frequent listeners and fix their clunky new software versions to the great tools they had until recent releases.
It is frustrating when an app you use regularly changes from excellent to mediocre.
HerGrace - Love Audible books but... the app could be better.
🎉 It did improve when the sleep timer was restored to the main page. Thank you!
The purchasing feature is clumsy and annoying to use. It is difficult to find books from any for sale list. On my phone, the wish list and lists of books offered in different special categories are in a series of brief “pages” and to get to the end one of a long list must go through each page to the bottom in order to turn to the next segment. If you stop mid-list it is necessary to start over. GRRR! Also, no chance to go to a given page directly. As a result, I have no idea what is on the last 80% of my wish list or special offer lists or book category lists: takes too much time to peruse them all at one sitting or skip back page by page. A minor change in the last update I find annoying: when a book is finished, a persistent popup page makes it not possible to go back or go to different book without rating the one just completed. Previously one could opt out of the popup rating page. I normally rate books but do not always wish to do so. I have found a way out of it but it’s also annoying to have to do this extra step. On my iPad I can close the app completely and when I return to it rating demand is gone.
RosieNiz - Loses my place
I love listening to books and have been enjoying that there are so many available on audibles. I keep encountering problems though...I prefer to listen at 1.25 speed and it reverts back to 1.0 with every pause.
I’ve learned I must bookmark frequently because I will undoubtedly be at the beginning of a book no matter where it left off (it divides books into fours and each of the 4 has chapters 1-11 or so, so book 2 has chapters 1-11 too instead of 12-21 making it close to impossible to figure out where you are...at minimum very time consuming.) and have to listen to recognize whether or not I’ve been there yet. Also, I’ve learned to listen to what chapter the narrator names just so I will be able to find my soon to be lost place in the event that the bookmark too fails. The version of the app that comes up on my iPhone quickly doesn’t have bookmarks, so I have to hit the home button, find the actual app and only there can I reset the speed and set the bookmark or retrieve a bookmark.
I find the most frustrating thing is that it keeps returning to the beginning of the “book” I was in instead of the place in the chapter.
Mit11005 - Enroll In Drive-time U
I absolutely love audible! Rarely do I listen to music any longer because I always have an audiobook on the go. In my case, almost everything I listen to is related to business or personal development and it is such a good way to stay engaged in my continual growth and education. Having said that, the vast majority of my listening time comes solely while I’m driving, time that I would have otherwise wasted. What an incredible way to work on yourself, your goals, and your aspirations without having to take additional time out of your busy day to sit down and read. I have also started using audible as a means of filtering the books I am willing to read as I tend to be the write in the margins, take notes, and underline kind of guy while reading, and that’s just a time consuming effort. Now rather than going through that process with a book that I don’t find to be quite as beneficial, I am able to listen to more and filter out only those which are going to be the best so I can focus my reading/study material on only that which will be the most beneficial and applicable to me at the time.
Drajonknives - A buggy piece of software
I use this app because I have to. It used to be great, but over the course of the past couple years, it’s become apparent that nobody at Audible actually uses or cares about this app. There are random crashes at least weekly, where the book will just stop playing and you have to restart the app. It refuses to honor the “don’t sync playback position” settings, so listening to the same book someone else in my family is listening to is a headache, since I have to constantly go back to my spot. They changed the “swipe to delete” feature to include an option to “add to favorites.” Like, honestly, how often does a user really add a book to their favorites, vs how often does a user want to remove a book from their device? Here’s a hint: literally every book will at some point need to be removed from the device. Unless literally every book is also added to your Favorites, then this is a bad feature and should be removed. Also, when opening the app fresh, why on earth is the first page ads for new books? 9/10 times I want to go to the book I’ve been listening to most recently, not shop for a new one. And while you’re at it, make the Extend Sleep Timer feature smart about the sleep timer you just set. A default of 30 minutes is useless to someone who sets 15 or 20 minute sleep timers.
HickStylez - Can no longer filter out finished
Now, I do love Audible and have always given them 5 stars and will continue to recommend it to my friends. I am, however, giving this latest update 1 star in hopes that they will consider changing or adding this feature back. We were always able to filter out books that we’ve finished so they aren’t included when trying to figure out what story to start next. I have hundreds of audiobooks of which I’ve finished a lot, but have just as many that I have not finished. I’ve also started some and decided I was looking for something different so I would bounce around. They removed the option to hide all the finished books so I have to go through them all. If I select “unfinished” it filters out both finished and anything I’ve started. It’s seems like a small complaint but to me it’s huge. Why would we want to filter out all books but the ones we’ve finished? Once they are finished I don’t normally look at them again unless it’s so good I listen again or recommend to a friend. Add an option to filter out the finished books.
E-travels with e. trules - Revisiting Justine at 70
I think this is the third time I’m making my way through the Alexandria Quartet, my life’s most rewarding literature, by the exquisite wordsmith and storyteller, Lawrence Durrell, also great friend and admirer of my other literary hero, Henry Miller. Justine is the first of the quartet, and perhaps my favorite, and no matter how many times I read it or hear it, it is always fresh, literately exciting, and enlightening to me. Such insight Into love, jealousy, intrigue, life, and death. I remember when I first read it, perhaps 50 years ago, with a dictionary. It feels so different now, no longer in my years of great sexual passion, but older, wiser, and more humbled by life. I highly recommend listening to Durrell, particularly with this reader, Nigel Anthony, because I have heard other readers chew up the scenery; while Mr. Anthony has created more subtle characterizations and offers Durrell‘s literature as the great feast it is. I think you’ll agree that listening to a great book with a good reader is a very different experience than having read it before yourself. I look forward to the next three books with unbounded literary hunger and excitement. Enjoy.....
Drathstar - Everyone should love books
I love the Audible app because it allows me to enjoy a good book even while driving or other activities that prevent reading a book while doing them. RIF was a program I loved in school, many of my classmates would have me pick out books and they would get them and give them to me because they didn't like reading and knew I loved to do so. At the time I was happy to get more books to enjoy though looking back I wish I had tried harder to share my love of reading with my classmates. My one real gripe is regarding two issues related to playback, the volume max can vary quite a bit from one narrator to another I presume due to production methods or settings so I would appreciate an ability to make the volume louder than currently possible especially when using the built in speaker on a mobile device. The second issue is that when listening to a book in the background and playing any of a number of games that sadly force you to watch ads occasionally to play for free it can sometimes fail to allow restarting the narration after the ads and rather default to any random music file you have on the device.
Destinybehere - If you’re a Business owner, you need to read this book, especially if you existed pre-COVID
If you’re a Business owner, you need to read this book, especially if you existed pre-COVID and trying to get back on track, it gives you incentive and advice on how to get back on “hustle” mode to get back to where you used to be at minimum, the maximum depends on your desired success level... I’m going to the top. It made me realize I was slacking in some areas and put my brain on think mode to not only hustle harder but yes smarter (great title by the way). Im not a hard cover fan but decided to order the physical book anyway (the soft cover isn’t scheduled to be released until late September and that’s too long to wait,I’m ready now) as I’m a physical reader and need the book to take notes which I’ve book marked throughout. I purchased it 3 days ago and have listened to it twice already (thank God for Airpods😆) and plan on listening to it again, this time making notecards... you catch something different every time. I’m not sure which one to thank, Curtis Jackson or 50 cent🤷🏽♀️... How about I thank him as a whole ☺️.
Mikefairburn - Heart changer!
Lysa does an amazingly transparent, simple, compelling and vulnerable job in describing and walking out forgiveness. While so much of this book is stuff that we know the way she goes about it is very refreshing and encouraging. Sharing her own journey and experiences in an honest and raw way is Incredibly helpful, challenging and inspiring. The inclusion of bitterness and codependency is a powerful component of this book.I will read the book again. I will do the study. And I will recommend it to others. You don’t have to be going through or have gone through what Lysa did in order to benefit from this book. I believe it’s a book that everyone should read. While every part of it will be for everyone I believe everyone can get something life-changing from it. here are two quotes that I loved from the end of the book about forgiveness.
“ Even the most imperfect messy forgiveness filled with hesitation and resistance is better than letting bitterness have its way with your heart.” “You don’t have to cooperate with forgiveness perfectly just progressively for it to be good.”
World war two guy - Great app but liars
I've used this app for years, it's great, but every year they seem to take more control over what members can and cannot do. They go back on their initial word. Their customer service is very manipulative about this. They don't provide clear answers. Their answers are vague and unhelpful at best. Every year it seems I'm more restricted with my account and the options they initially promise when you first make an account. I guess they don't expect you to be a long-time customer because they certainly don't value their long-term customers. The more time I spend with this company, the less friendly they are. This is why I've decided to look into other audiobook companies, and they provide far more options and better long-term service than audible does all around. You know how they promise to return audiobooks no matter what? That no longer counts. In 5 months, I've returned about 4 books, and I've returned many more books in previous years in a single month, never had an issue. They are warning me they will take away my account privileges to return audiobooks if I don't stop returning audiobooks out of nowhere when I've returned less than ever before? Blackmail? Not a good move audible. This is big tech people; if they fool you into becoming a long-term customer, you'll find yourself being blackmailed.
Glothridge - Worst experience ever
I was incredibly excited to get my Audible subscription! I signed up for the most expensive plan because I love to read and I love audiobooks! To say I regret it now is an understatement. My card was charged and that my subscription never appeared in the app or online. I contacted Audible customer support and though they were friendly they told me my problem was with Apple because I had signed up to the app. I said there’s nothing they could do on their end. So I contacted Apple they told me that billing had gone through with no problems and that the subscription should be reflected in my membership. They said that if it did not it was a problem with Audible. I went back-and-forth like this three times with neither of them excepting responsibility or being able to help me. I finally gave up and demanded a refund for my subscription which I will happily processed they recommended that if I wanted to try again I call audible and make sure there wasn’t a problem with my membership first. I did this in the entire time the support specialist just tried to get my credit card information so they could sign me up again. I was beyond mad and it was not the time. I believe it could be a good app but when the app has such a problem that you pay and it won’t even show up that’s an issue. 😡
McSnee - Continues to get worse
This app is suffering from iTunes-itis as it tries to incorporate features that detract from its central purpose, which is storing and playing back audiobooks. It is getting bloated and slow, and harder and harder to navigate. The app always tries to phone home even before playing a fully downloaded boom, ostensibly to check whether you've listened to the book elsewhere and to synchronize. On the handful of occasions I've actually used that misbegotten feature, no syncing actually occurred--so the effect is that I'm now continually waiting for the app to let me start playing my audiobook all to enable a broken feature that I don't even want. Solid design work, gang.
The useless "Home" tab has been joined by an equally useless "Discover" page. There's no way to adjust recommendations, so if you listen to a lot of audiobooks in one genre your recommendations will rapidly become clogged with third- and fourth-tier efforts from within that genre--and nothing else.
The developers, having saddled the app with a bunch of gameified achievements, have thoughtfully buried them in the settings menu, where at least they're out of the way, though presumably they're still contributing to the app's slowness. Too bad there's not a way to get an app that just does the basics this one is supposed to cover.
Ytarya - Updated review.
Still great. Still no Audible for Apple Watch! I really hope you will provide this great service on Apple Watch! Please make an Audible app for Apple Watch there are some nice improvements, but I can't focus on them as long as my chief gripe isn't addressed. At the very least, please tell your loyal customers whether you are trying to do this--or if you are even considering it.
Audible is one of the apps I use out often. I bought an Apple watch so I could listen to audiobooks while walking my dog and could leave my iPhone at home sometimes. I have seen some work-arounds, but so far have not been able to listen to audiobooks on my watch.
Audible doesn't show any inclination to develop an Apple watch app. I have asked. I guess I will try purchasing an audio book from iTunes, and see if that works. If it does (which I am not optimistic about) I might have to make my walking purchases from iTunes instead of Audible. I wouldn't like to ditch my Audible account to completely, as I love it. The hundreds of dollars I have spent on Audible books proves that. But I disappointed at this apparent indifference to the requests of Audible's most loyal customers.

This catalogue will provide the reader an intelligence level briefing that you will need to logically evaluate the current data coming from the Pentagon as well as the "New Age" folks. You will also find this useful if you've been lucky enough to have seen them yourself, because you will find that it has been reported by someone else in the past. This may aid in putting your sighting in context because we all know you can't let it go. All the craft classes are catalogued here, allowing the reader can begin to find patterns in history or geography. Don't mind the negative reviews, the author is quoting the most reputable researchers in addition to his own research. The greatest contribution of this work is the neatly organized fashion of data points allowing a picture to emerge. You can interpret the data yourself. The author does not inject analysis except for the last chapter. But even that is musing on possibilities. You will have a fuller picture of the phenomenon after listening or reading this work and isn't that what your after?
Ajk7577 - New bugs cropping up recently
This app used to be great. Recently though, whenever I try to use it, there are annoying lags in responsiveness. I press play and it won’t play for 10 seconds. Or I try to view my cloud library and have to wait a few seconds before the app will switch from device view to cloud. The Bluetooth connection has also become glitchy, especially when connected to my car system - I press pause on my car’s screen and it takes a few seconds to pause, then starts again, then finally pauses, over the course of another 5 seconds. The app also no longer responds if I try to control play with my phone while it’s connected to my cars bluetooth (at least, it didn’t today). Lastly, if I’m in the library tab and want to look up info on a downloaded book, I can’t just tap the three dots at the right hand side of the book without the book starting to play. This is annoying if I’m currently listening to something (or talking to someone on the phone - the book still starts playing!) and want to look up info on a book. I’ve been using this app for a few years, and this is the first time I’ve really been frustrated with it. Until now, it’s mostly operated smoothly.
Weeble57 - Mobile Version Fantastic
I really like like the fact that I can download Audible books using my iPhone. It used to be you had to download a book to your desktop or laptop, load it into iTunes and then sync my iPod with my MacBook. I was admitted to the hospital from my doctor's office through emergency. I couldn't go home and pick up my MacBook and iPod. I was so surprised and very happy to find the Audible mobile app in the Apple App Store. I was able to download books to listen to. It took my mind off being stuck in the hospital and after years of living on the road for work I’ve come to find listening to an audiobook to block out annoying sounds. I want to add another great feature I’ve found. This mobile app not only knows which books I already have in my library it also knows which book is next in the series for books that are in a series. Update: At some point the Apple Watch app was dropped so I can no longer control the volume and skip forward and backward on my watch while the audio book is playing on my MacBook, iPad or iPhone. I’d really like to see thes feature added back.
Paperfldr - Clunky & buggy. Borrow from your library instead!
UPDATE: Since I last reviewed this app, they’ve made it even worse by dropping the navigate 30-second forward/back control from the primary playback screen. Instead, you can only jump forward/back by one whole chapter at a time. If you missed something and want to go back by 30-seconds, you have to minimize the primary playback screen and try to locate the tiny icon at the bottom of your library menu. So aggravating! Come on, Audible...you can do better!
Previous review: This App is not nearly as good as the Overdrive App which I use to listen to books I’ve borrowed from the library. Do yourself a favor: save money & aggravation and borrow your audiobooks online from your local library.
Audible’s App cannot skip forward/back 30 sec. from your phone’s lock screen. You have to unlock your phone to do this. After you’ve used the App for a while, the 30-sec skip function totally disappears and you can only skip one chapter forward/back. Then you have to reboot. Another bug which appears after you’ve used the app for an hour or two is that it kicks you forward a chapter if you stop the play for a moment or two & try to resume. Reboot again.
Awesomepossum87 - Love this app
I love Audible! Audible has one of the largest selection of books that I have ever had on a audiobook app. There is something for everyone. I have been reading Harry Potter and I am on Prisoner of Azkaban. For the past 2 books that I have read, I have gotten to sleep a lot faster. Before Audible, I would stay up all night because I was bored, but now I go to bed at 9:30 at the latest! Also, the people reading the books really match the vibe of the book. Great examples include the Dork Diaries series and Harry Potter series. Both of those readers read the stories in voices that match the book. Next, like I said, on Audible there is something for everyone. I have really enjoyed reading a book called the Golden Orchard and before, I would have never imagined myself reading a book like this. After your first book, I think that Audible takes you interest and suggests you books that are like the books you like or something totally different all together. Overall Audible is a total must have if you struggle with getting to sleep. 😃
Cjnboston - So. Many. Updates.
Ok, so literally every update has an MASSIVE update to the UX. And that’s fine, but when you’re shifting the UX for an app in such a fundamental way, you really should be *improving* it. I’ve been an audible member since at least 2009 and while I know I’m a bit old school, I do think I shouldn’t have to search my entire library for the book I’m downloading- I think it should autosort like it used to do that it’s automatically on to. I know I probably have an issue as I’m rounding on 1000 books in my library but we all have our hoarding things 😉 Genres are great but it would be awesome if they’d collapse them down into parent categories (children’s audiobooks vs kid’s?). Also, PLEASE bring back the pop-up that asks whether or not you want to skip to the synced point or not. The banner isn’t reliable and it’s so annoying to have to waste time to go to the beginning every time I want to relisten to a book, whereas before I just used to be able to click once. I’m not a huge fan of the new Home Screen, and I’d love the option to be able to just be able to show your library every time, but at least I understand the marketing reasons behind those decisions.
Lisa Jean M. - A Promised What?
Today is April 12, 2021 and after finishing this 30 hour long book, I understand more clearly than ever why our country is so divided politically, racially, and economically and it is because of the presidency of Barack Obama. He was an expert at hiring groups of experts in all areas of United States politics and making rules, regulations passing taxes and policies which he thought totally would be responsible for the success of the future United States of America. I never heard him talk about pride in the United States Constitution or the great history of our country!! He only discusses the accolades of government today and all the great that they do! He takes credit for all of the successes, he blames the Republican Party for all the challenges he faces and to hear him talk about minorities, immigrants, African Americans and any person other than the white race you would think that they did nothing to help shape this great country. Yes they made mistakes when it came to race and slavery but many inroads were made in racial equality which seem to have gone in the wrong direction under his administration. The United States is now liberal, pro-government and NOT rooted in hard work, sacrifice, discipline, God, prayer or the Constitution of the United States of America. I will read more books like this, yes I have much to learn and understand.
Sheldon Rampton - Really nice way to hack my life
I started using Audible a month or two ago when I realized that there are significant blocks of time in my life that I am not using as well as I would like. Specifically, the time I spend driving or exercising constitutes up to two hours per day that are necessary but not very intellectually stimulating. I had been listening to music when I exercised, and then it dawned on me that I could just as easily listen to audiobooks. There are any number of books I want to read but don’t because I have a hard time getting to them. Audible has helped solve that problem for me.
Initially I thought listening rather than reading would be an inferior experience, but in fact after listening to a few books I’m finding that my attention and retention are comparable. Whenever possible I try to co-purchase the audio book with a Kindle version so I can switch between reading and listening. I think Kindle’s “whispersync” system for switching back and forth could be improved, but I can live with it. Overall I’ve been really pleased with the Audible experience.
Gsisggc - Useless and rude customer service
I loved the app until I upgraded my phone. (iphone XR)The app wouldn’t let me play back anything. I called and they attempted to help me troubleshoot the problem. It’s the app not the phone. Nothing worked so they had to create a ticket. They told me it would take up to five days to hear back from the back office team. Five days seem like a lot. I used this app daily. The next day I called back to see if someone else could help me. He looked at the ticket and told me the full details of my issue weren’t even on the file. We updated the ticket tried to help me troubleshoot still no results.7 days later still no call back. So I called again and was given answers like “I don’t know when they’ll call you” or “I don’t know, maybe” when I asked to speak to someone else because this gentleman did not have any answers for me his reply was “why do you want speak to someone else”. I had to hang up because he wouldn’t let me talk to anyone else. I purchased over $50 in credits before this happened. I canceled the morning that fees but let’s see how that goes.
TheMooseGoesToTown - I love the product
I love the product, I’ve been listening to all sorts of books since I started driving across the country for work. I like how you can download books and listen to them going over the mountains where you don’t have reception.
I do not like how it crashes sometimes when there is not great signal. Sometimes even when the book has been downloaded to the device, the app won’t play the title because it can’t connect to the server. It’s very annoying when you straight up don’t have reception for 45 minutes through the mountains.
I also wish they had a section of the search/library for “series” that would keep the books in chronological order. I was listening to a couple of series using the plus catalogue and didn’t know what the next book was. It would tell you only at the end of the book, but since I drive and sometimes didn’t have reception, it wasn’t always a option. Also, hitting next in series would usually not give you the option to listen to the title without purchasing, even when it was “included” if you did a normal search for it.
Eamonn Donovan - Best app I have, but can’t transfer from my iPhone or iPad to my Watch
I’ve been an Audible member for over 15 years (well before being merged w/Amazon). It’s my favorite App and I use it more than any other. I have ADHD and LOVE to read but get stuck trying to read traditional books and retain the story or information. With Audible I’ve averaged almost 5 books per month with each book’s average length of about 11hrs.
Here’s the big “but”. I have Audible Apps on my iPhones, iPads and MacBook but it won’t relay to either of my two watches. I get unnecessary Apps like JetBlue but no Audible. If anyone knows what I can do to fix this I would be grateful. Being able to listen to Audiobooks without my iPhone nearby would be incredibly useful but I just cannot figure out why it won’t show up on my list of Apps on my Watches.
Despite my Watch problem I give this App my highest recommendation. This goes especially for my brothers and sisters that suffer from ADHD, impaired vision or other maladies that makes tradition reading difficult or impossible. It’s an awesome subscription service and App especially if you’re more successful than me in getting it on your Apple Watch.
BlameJennyJane - Love Audible but there are some snags with the app
I have hundreds of Audible books and I am a huge fan. This is my review of the app, however, and it needs some work. There are real issues with the sync feature. It doesn’t sync well with my kindle books; it certainly isn’t seamless and usually ends up just not doing it at all. Not sure the “whisper technology” even truly exists. I often buy the same book in multiple formats and shift between audio and print depending on where I am. The app doesn’t download my new books once purchased at times, but not always. It also doesn’t, and has never removed Kindle Unlimited titles I’ve borrowed and returned. They remain indefinitely, but give an error message if opened. I frequently have to completely delete the app and reinstall it. When I do that, all becomes well in my world and everything is in its place. But I don’t have any other apps that require that. I expect after years of using this app, and generations of updates, that these things would be fixed.
Hotsonwheels - What the actual F&@$...
Used audio books before and it’s great. HOWEVER, for some messed up reason the first topics that are suggested are the following: Economic History of Racism, Raising an Antiracist and Poetry of black healing. Mind you these are topics with multiple literatures within each topic. Stop shoving this down people’s throats. Go express your guilt somewhere else in private. It’s clear you have guilt pent up and should probably seek help. For the rest of us, we wanted to use this app to simply read our favorite book to us (which I highly doubt has anything to do with racism).
I mean, why don’t you have a bunch of topics on the front page about healthy eating. Far more people are negatively impacted by poor eating habits than racism. How about books on “not becoming child molester”? Clearly sex trafficking minors/children is a larger problem than racism and deserves a topic above the rest.
Instead of going on and on, I believe I have made my case. Leave your personal opinions at home and make the app more like a business or library. Customer “walks in” - for lack of a better term - and goes to a genre or topic of their choosing. I don’t need multiple banners and flyers to guide me to a topic that you feel guilty about in your personal life.
Ratt-mann - David
Love the app. , their deals are spectacular, the books are at a proper price, and I think the only thing I really had trouble with was transferring the books to my computer. But; I think they're a little laxed on their security protocols. I had been paying with my credit card. This is also the only thing I was using was said certain credit card. And it just so happens this is the only credit card that somebody was trying to steal. They need to think about accepting PayPal. Or beefing up their security. The main thing they need to do I think it’ll make it so that you can put books in the order that you would actually read what you collect. so many of the title’s i like so many numbers to target which goes in which order.
The iron Druid it self is a wonderful and creative. It makes you think about all of the myths you've heard stories. Not many folks make me smile or laugh. But this is one of the few. Almost, but not quite; a rival to Jim butcher's Dresden files. He brings his characters to life, truly. His explanation of magic is very thought out in that direction best series going.
Kat G - NJ - Gratitude for audio books
I’m very grateful for audiobooks. As a child I struggled with reading. I always had difficulties and shame because I didn’t read as fast as other children and found it difficult to retain the information I read. I would have to re-read sentences, passages, pages, and chapters because I would read the words but not formulate a picture or the information being imparted. I disliked and refused to read book up into a young adult. As an adult reading books has become significantly easier, but I still struggle with speed reading and retaining the information. Time has also become very limited in which to sit, or lay down and pick up a book and read. I find myself able to listen to audiobooks while getting ready in the morning for work, driving to and from locations, doing daily activities while at home or running errands, and getting ready for bed. Without audio books I could have never gone through the multitude of books which impart so much knowledge and stories to enchant the mind.
Thank you Audible
Jurrasic Ark - Taking money but not giving me credits
This app worked for the first month or so, I had three books with the premium subscription (not premium plus) and then for some reason it just stopped. I waited until the day where I was SUPPOSED to get a credit but low and behold none actually came in. I was very upset because I got audible specifically for series books but now I was stuck and it wasn’t giving me credits. I eventually calmed down thinking that it just didn’t have my card details (I went to the help website and I figured I wasn’t getting credits because of that) and thought that it was just stalled, and unable to make any purchases which is why I wasn’t getting credits. Well I didn’t save my card details in my phone and I didn’t want it to so I just let it sit there for another month.
Until around 2 in the morning
I found out that the app WAS still making purchases, the monthly purchases. Without giving me credits???? What’s happened to my credit every month guaranteed???? I tried to refund but this app doesn’t have receipts so enjoy that +8.00 you took from me at 2 in the morning. I hope you spend it well because I know for sure that didn’t get used on my credits
Kmusic1 - So many choices to entertain, enlighten and enhance your brain power!
I have so many titles read, yet an abundance just waiting for me to “crack open” and begin my journey. I usually have two or three titles in progress at a time, so Audible’s ability to remember where I left off, no matter what platform I last used, is an amazingly powerful tool. Almost every print book I purchase, I also get the Audible version, when available (and most are) and I find that I usually end up listening to the book. I love to read, but you just can’t do that while driving, or mowing the lawn, or anything other than sitting and looking at the book. For those who find a title that they need to absorb the content, listening while reading is a great aid for some learners. It really helped many of my students when I was a teacher and I believe that it helps most people to concentrate. For leisurely enjoyment, put in the earbuds and enjoy a great book or two, or three!! You won’t be sorry you at least tried!
EricRhysTaylor - Apple Watch features buggy
iPhone app works pretty well but I find the syncing of books on the Apple Watch to not work well. It is a pain to add a novel to the watch because it requires the watch be charging which I don’t see any need for. And the sync is slow and sometimes fails. When I’m using the watch offline away from the phone listening to a book it often will fail to sync with the version that’s on the phone when I return. So when I resume on the phone it’s playing from the wrong location. Ideally, books can be added at any time to the watch and when the watch is away from the phone it will properly sync again as soon as it connects with the phone. None of this should require the watch to be charging. I have a series 7 Apple watch and the battery is plenty to handle all of these activities without being on the charger. I also regularly use the watch away from the phone and disconnected from cellular so all of these features should be able to handle that scenario as well simply by waiting until the phone is within range or the cellular is turned back on to sync or resume transfers.
Kerfind - Updates added and removed features
I really like the layout from recent updates and the ability to buy from my wishlist -in fact I like viewing my wishlist on the app better than on the website now. However, I don’t understand why the option to jump back or ahead 30 sec has disappeared from the main screen when playing a book and are only available in the driving and button free options. I use it frequently when trying to quickly find the last spot I remember when falling asleep and quickly tapping the book cover to bring that option up is faster than pulling up either of those options where it still exists.
I’d also like to amplify the request to be able to sort by book category and author. I know I can search by author, but a quick sorting by author would also be nice. I can also type book categories in the search engine and it kind works, but it doesn’t work well. As an example, searching for biography will pull up Harry Potter and A Darker Shade of Magic (also fantasy) so it doesn’t work really well.
Tifm0506 - Audible App
I enjoy having almost any book I’d like at the touch of my fingertips. Especially when a really great book is coming to a close and I’m mid drive or in the middle of the night and I’m unable to jump in the car and run off and grab another book. However, it’s is unfortunate you cannot buy books from the comfort of your app. It’s also uneasy to navigate the app. Functionality needs simplified and the search capability in the app needs attention. I was given a subscription to The Wall Street Journal when I became a member, which I love! However, it often does not update to the current dates read and is impossible to search in the app. I also like to save some of the free “podcast” type offerings Audible provides with your membership, but again, you cannot always access from your app as they randomly disappear. I’m forced to login to the full site, but even then locating “podcasts” (not purchased books) saved is a challenge. None of this would deter me from using audible as I love to read but spend a lot of time commuting in my car and audible allows me the opportunity to enjoy more books than I could otherwise. Though i do hope they progress the usability of their app sooner rather than later.
Aksassycassie823 - Would have scored 5 stars, except it’s expensive
I love this app, but hate the price being so high for the monthly subscription. The one credit a month is extremely nice to have included, but not worth the price because most of the audible books, minus the newer and popular titles, are cheaper or free in the kindle Unlimited monthly subscription.
I have to give a score of 10 for the people that read the books. Even my son loves how the readers use different voices for each different character. The readers also do an excellent job setting the tone and mood of the books. I also love how I can do almost anything, working, driving, cleaning, working on puzzles, supervising the kids doing their schoolwork, falling asleep, or drawing while I am listening to books with my wireless earbuds in or connecting my phone to my car stereo or any Bluetooth device with a speaker.
Maybe include the audible subscription in the monthly Kindle Unlimited subscription, the one credit for an audible book a month, and more free classics for $15. Just a thought to get more subscribers.

Jazztyke - Hate new App front page
Audible app is definately in my top 5 apps I go for on a daily basis on my iPhone and iPad. First thing when I get in the car I select my latest book to listen to. When I'm at my desk I set my phone on it's dock and continue 'reading' while I work and the same goes when I'm cooking. I use this more than iTunes nowadays.
It isn't perfect - I don't download to my phone anymore because usually I get an error message after it's downloaded the first 5-10% of a book, and then just stops - nothing will get a download past the first 10% no matter how I tweak the settings. So now I just download to my Mac and drop it into iTunes, to load up when I sync next. It's a bit of a nuisance but....
This never used to happen, just since 2 or 3 revisions ago. I can live with the inconvenience though. What I couldn't live without now is the App itself - it's so convenient to listen to a book rather than have to give a book your whole attention as with a paper book or eBook - although I read plenty of them too.
My only real hate is the ‘dashboard’/home page the app starts on now. I’m not interested in whatever it has to say...all I want is my Library when I open the app.
LynMac87 - One of my Top 3 Apps- BUT...
I love my Audible App & use it daily. There really is something incredibly special & satisfying about hearing your favourite stories brought to vivid life by a talented narrator. My job involves spending all day looking at a computer screen so my eyes struggle to cope with the added strain of reading on top of work- my audible app means I can still emerge myself in so many of the literary worlds I love.
My ONE complaint? Since the last 2-3 versions have been released, sometimes I can’t get newly purchased books to download. REALLY annoying. Most of the time (90-95%) I just wait a day or so & the problem fixes itself. Once or twice now I’ve had to delete the App, shut down my phone & then RE-install the App again once I’ve turned my iPhone back on. This seems to be a recurring theme in a lot of the most recent reviews- wish they would fix whatever bug it is, because otherwise this App is the best thing to happen to my ability to keep reading for enjoyment in a long, long time!
Wilko423 - More credits
I have been using audible for nearly a year now and I can say it has without a doubt opened my mind up to another universe that I hadn’t known about til now, I highly recommend it to anyone who loves books but either doesn’t have the time to physically read them or even has issues concentrating on reading print like myself. This app has changed my life I recommend it to all of my friends regularly and with the subscription you get a new book each month. One suggestion I would have for the makers is possibly adding an option to buy credits in bulk for cheaper prices, sometimes I want to read a new series of books but find myself not wanting to waste credits/$15 on books between 5-10 hours as I can finish that in a day or so, if I had the option to buy more in one go I wouldn’t find myself skipping series that have shorter books at the beginning. Aside from that it’s basically flawless in my eyes, keep up the good work guys!
Sulu-joshi - Super handy, love it except for...
Really not a fan of the new library storage system. I switch between my and my husband’s accounts regularly and it used to be if I downloaded an audiobook but switched to the other account I could still access the downloaded audiobook, but it no longer does. Mine and my husbands accounts are very intermingled: books for both of us, times we wanted a book but had no credits so bought it with the other’s account. Also because we’ve both been members for years we have 100+ books each so we have to scroll and scroll and scroll only to realize the book is on the other account. Please go back to the old way it was much easier for families like ours.
On the upsides though the app is quick, simple to use, never fails to remember where I'm up to(which is super handy when reading epic fantasy) and the sound quality is exemplary. Very pleased with it and will stick with Audible for the foreseeable future (tho I'd love a fix for my downloading issue ;p )
MargDoll - Thoroughly enjoyable
I’d never read any of the Sherlock Holmes stories having never really been interested in older crime solving stories. I tend more towards supernatural or paranormal romance (with the occasional mystery or crime thrown in.)
But I really enjoyed Stephen Fry narrating his own publications “Mythos” and “Heroes.”
His voice is soothing, warm and entertaining. He does the different characters voices so well, you never mistake a character for another. He just seems to draw you into the story.
I was surprised to find I thoroughly enjoyed the different mysteries solved by the famous detective. The thing I liked the most was the relationship between Sherlock and Dr Watson. You felt the genuine love, comradeship and mutual respect between them. The sincere sorrow that Watson felt when Sherlock “died” bought a tear to my eye.
The only thing I would like to have seen in this particular anthology, is the stories in a more chronological order. No complaints otherwise.
Taikozfan - Game changer for parents of young children who miss reading!
A huge, and long-standing user of Audible. I used to love reading, turning pages in silence and becoming engrossed in whatever I was reading. Since having a child my reading time has become far more sporadic and often subject to endless interruptions. So I adapted. I listed to wonderful books while I drive around, do the shopping or while cooking. This app is easy to use, reliable and allows me to listen to the same book on several devices. I even have the choice to re-read from a different spot on my iPhone without losing my current place on the iPad if I feel like refreshing a different chapter. I wish all books were automatically created as Audible options. I highly recommend the monthly subscription option. It helps to remind me to keep reading and to make time for at least one new book a month. Great way to make time for yourself again.
Mickey P 11 - Great learning resource and entertaining
I’ve used audible for about 3 years. In that time I have greatly expanded my knowledge base on a number of topics while doing menial tasks such as driving, tending to the yard and even while at work. With an extensive range of topics and multiple books on each, it’s easy to find something informative and interesting. I’ve never had a problem returning a book that I had not been satisfied with, even if I had listened to most or all of it.
There is also nearly an endless selection of fiction books narrated by some excellent narrators. The way the narrators bring characters and situations to life is very impressive. (My favourite being R.C.Bray) If you haven’t listened to a story told by a good narrator before I’d highly recommend it.
I’m very satisfied with audible, for the amount of education/entertainment I receive from an audiobook it’s very good value for money.
NikkiB# - Loved it!
I am thoroughly enjoying this series 😄 This is the second book of the series so far and I am eager to read the rest of them! This is Mabel’s story, who we were introduced to briefly in the first book along with her other friends, who are also referenced in this one. We also get to read a bit more about Giulia Pepper and follow on with her story a little from the first one.
Although this could be read as a stand-alone novel, it makes more sense to have read the previous one first. Kasey Stockton has a truly enjoyable style of writing and all of her stories are clean and wholesome with feel good endings 🥰 I am happy to recommend this book to anyone who enjoys clean regency romance novels. I received an ARC of this book from the author however this in no way influenced my opinion and I am under no obligation to leave a review.
Jasminhas - Love love love
I have read and reread “Yes Please” many times, but l loved listening to this audiobook so, so much. I highly recommend it to anyone, at literally any stage in their life (but, maybe 17+).
As a twenty-something, this book is was an absolute gift. Hearing Amy’s story with such honesty, her humility and grace, positivity and compassion is something that cannot be compared and the lessons in these chapters are important and, for a young person, quite profound. I know that it’s the kind of book I can come back to in my 30s and 40s and still take away something important. And yes, I did listen to it in my car. But also on my way to work, on my way home from work, and whenever I needed to step away discreetly for a while. And honestly, there was no better way to spend my time than by getting a pep talk or dose of reality from Amy Poehler, in amy Poehler’s voice. I loved it. Thank you, Amy.
Sarbi11 - I love Audible
I love Audible! Listening to Audible books allows me the freedom to do all the boring things I do, while being entertained in the process.
My jobs are made less onerous with the distraction of stories by the amazing storyteller’s writings of other people, worlds, places, & times.
The reading of the books are brought to life through the wonderful voices of modern day bards.
I was introduced to Audible by a friend many years ago who shared a book with me; that I had already read. The reader was so great that it brought a whole new dimension to the book for me; allowing me to sink into the story & deepen my imagining of the words of the writer. I have been hooked ever since.
I invested in the monthly subscription straight away - it is the most user friendly & cost effective way to listen to Audible. I have never looked back!
PeterDeMoor - Cannot easily pause membership a second time
I paused my membership for three months because I wasn’t using the app very much. Audible charged after three months, without any reminder that they were going to do so. I didn’t like the way they did this and tried to pause my membership again, but after much searching found I had to call or email to do this, even though I met their criteria. I emailed to ask for a refund and just cancel, as this wasted lots of my time. Audible did refund and cancel, but didn’t warn about taking my credits. They took away my 3 credits (worth around $50). Asked them to return the credits and they said no. In my opinion, Audible is not good at making billing processes clear and it was hard to cancel (I had to do this on a desktop). ***Update - Audible reinstated the lost credits. Thank you.***
Terameer91 - Design this app for humans!!!
The app is pretty bad right now! I’m frustrated and annoyed that I have less accessibility since I updated, 15 mins ago. Navigating to an author I like is not possible from a book page or my library, I have to go type the name in search now. I can’t see my credits anywhere, I think I have 2, but I can’t tell by looking anywhere and the help page seems to be for a previous version of the app as it references non existent buttons. I can’t tell if the book I’m looking at is part of a series, book 1, or book 10?
I have dabbled in app design in uni, by no means an expert, but it looks like audible is taking a nose dive in user design by oversimplify to the point of being too difficult to search for a new book to listen to. Why would you give people less navigation and access to information?
Aliceeeeee06 - Stealing My Money
This is the worst app. I bought one book in april and finished it and i thought i could stop my subscription to stop paying for something so it did. But then 5 months go by and every month i pay $16 and I DELETED THE APP. I downloaded the app again to see if i could get rid of my card or stop a subscription somehow but i couldn’t find it anywhere. I thought there would be some place where i could remove my card in edit profile but NO, nothing. Not even customer support could help me, i searched up how to stop payment and how to stop subscription, but no results came up for one and only three on the one about stopping payment. There was only one stopping payment answer that was even related to my problem and it didn’t even help. I tried to email them and ask but they said to look at customer support. On the app it says there is something wrong with my credit card and to look it up on the internet but i’m never works. They are still charging me $16 dollars every month.
ScottyBakers - Must Read for all who seek
This is quite simply one of the best most confronting and horrific books I have ever read. I have averaged a book a fortnight for several years and this stands in the top few. If you are a fan of Napoleon Hill this will blow your mind. If you are not this will blow your mind. I have taken 100’s of pages of notes and doing all I can to implement the ideas in this book and it has changed my life on so many levels. Its horror lay in the truth that which I knew but could not explain. The greatness comes from intrinsic deep answers that come when you hear them and you will hear them. If you don’t then you are not human. This book is for anyone seeking greatness in themselves. It’s dialogue seems to be aimed at Men, but mums, wives and sisters and girlfriends would benefit greatly from this great book.
Kennyelvis - Science
This book challenges your current approach to life. Breakthrough research plus commonsense lifestyle advice lead this author to make some “out there“ conclusions and claims. He makes them fearlessly and with detailed supporting arguments quoting history, science and his own life experiences as well as the experiences of his family. It is a book filled with exhortation, motivation and a call to arms to save the planet. The author does this with great risk. Philosophers, pop psychologists and other scientists both inside and outside his field have reacted negatively to his conclusions. Despite this pushback, which will be exacerbated after the publication of this book, the author pushes on, regardless of this risk. This book could easily go down as the seminal work in the area of ageing and it’s cure. I for one hope it does.
Lisalaur - LOVE IT!
I have been using audible for well over 10 years now...before there was an Australian site for it and have always enjoyed it.
As an avid reader who was losing her sight, it allowed me some of the enjoyment I used to get from books.
When the sync with kindle became available, I was so excited, I could make the font HUGE...and read til my eyes tired and then listen and go to and from.
The ONE issue I have with sudible, is that when you buy a book from kindle, you can now get the audiobook for a few dollars. If, however, I use my credits, and want the kindle book, I have to pay full price for it. It makes my subscription a way of wasting rather than saving money because I ALWAYS want both.
I don’t want to stop my subscription however I find myself accumulating credits because it’s just cheaper to buy the book and add the audiobook. Could the reversal be organised, so that when I use my credit, I can buy the kindle book for a few dollars?
I have made this suggestions quite a few times through various means of contacting audible....and always told, it’s something that is being worked on.... I’d be so greatful when it happens.
Thanks audible for many hours of listening....
Misdyholtsbaum - Open book is just that! Completely open and raw!
Thank you Jessica for opening up your life, your struggles, your truths, fears, and greatest joys! You are truely inspiring. I lost my mother to alcoholism and wish she could have found a way out of the darkness. You gave me some insight into what she may have been going through. I believe she had a very toxic relationship with my step dad that started her drinking, with a very fast and sad progression. You are so very lucky to have such a beautiful husband and children and group of BFF’s and family to support and love you ! We all grow and change and cannot be expected to be the same people we were 20 years ago wanting the same things. I Take my hat off to your honesty and thank you for sharing with the world what a true light you really are!
Breeahna Hill - Read this!
It is an amazing app, it helps me getting things done quicker e.g. if there is some homework I need to do about a book I can listen to it on audible while cleaning or working out. Something I found annoying about this app (although it has only happened once over the five years of me using it) is that there are some book series they don’t finish. They do the first few books but then the last one isn’t on here. Overall this app is amazing and I suggest buying it. It is a great way to save time. Getting this app also allows you to avoid the cliffhangers when you finish reading a chapter and have to go to bed. You can listen to the story while going to sleep and enjoy it all. I hope you discover some amazing books on this app.
Loopylala1999 - Enlightened
I found myself through many parts of this book, writing down quotes that really stood out to me. I don’t think I’ve read a book this long in years, but somehow bother the writer and reader make the story flow so easily, that even as I was coming to the end, felt as though I was only halfway through. At many points I felt enlightened by the range of perspectives from both Lori and her patients. All in all, I would recommend this book to even therapy skeptics, because it made me think, “Hey, everyone could benefit for some therapy.”
Such a great book. Can’t believe how much I learnt through the anecdotes told throughout. I truly do feel enlightened after reading this these past couple of weeks.
Another_Jedi_Knight - Useful app with issues
There is one major irritation. The app appears to take an age to start, and when it does it is not a single click to continue listening.
Rather you need to select the book and wait while it prepares then find a small play icon. There is considerable lag between ‘click’ and the book playing. So on more than one occasion I have clicked the play button a second time only to have the book play and then immediately pause.
Pros: it works and plays the audio books.
Provides a ton of statistics about your reading/listening habits.
Cons: interface with iTunes is buggy and does not copy titles correctly.
What the app needs.
It would be useful to have an audio interface to increase loudness or compress the audio because some books are perfect in the living room but the audio is too low for driving.
The update has broken the app. Changed it from five star to 1 star. It is just broken. 😤
Update was an improvement, but had to download some books again so they would play.
The app now seems to refresh the screen rather than remembering where I last left. A little irritating.
Zoot0072 - One minute out?
Ok I may have missed it but I didn’t get the title. Normally it’s it’s pretty strait forward in Mark Greaney novels. If your a fan of the series you’ll likely be irritated by the first person dialogue for at least the first few chapters. Eventually, if you’re anything like me you will slowly grow to appreciate the first person style.
Not the best and not the worst of the series by any stretch. What I like liked about this one is that Gentry was flying solo throughout most of the mission, much like the first few in the series. This seems to allow for more daring and/ or desperate missions like the one that originally drew us in to the series. A good read for sure, just have some patience with the change in writing style in the beginning or you’ll miss out on something very good.
Rellative - Updates delete current info
It's 3:30 am. Another nightmare wakes me. I reach for Audible on my iPad to distract my mind and help me find sleep. The usual library list is missing when I select 'cloud'. The two books I had going, one for sleep, the other for migraines gone from 'device'.
The last thing I wanted to do was to have to wake up, rediscover the password, sign out of into my audible account so I could sign back in, refresh, and download both books again. If it were a migraine I'd woken with (and I do frequently) I wouldn't have a hope of seeing well enough let alone have the brain power to do what I've just done.
Please, please, please, please, stop making signing in and out a condition of updating the app. I thought automating updates made life easier but it hasn't with Audible.
That was March 2019. Of course, once I put the login details in it worked as usual.
July 2019 and Audible app tries to open but shuts down almost immediately. Was there an update? Can't say it's a password issue since it's not open long enough. I don't how to live with out an Audible book in my daily life. :((
Nickname123456789 - Buggy app - robotic non responsive support
Audible have a near monopoly in audio books so if you have low vision it’s hard to find the same content anywhere else.
But their app is so cantankerous. If you contact support they are very nice and polite but are clearly not empowered to raise bugs with the development team.
Bug 1: for about half a year starting the app says “Welcome to Audible. Somethings not quite right. There’s a problem with the credit card on file...”. Only thing is - they are billing it successfully and have done so for months. The support team claim that this issue was raised with the dev team but evidence suggests otherwise.
Bug 2: Rewind 30s has been broken for ages. If you repeatedly hit it you just hear the same thing over and over again. You have to be very slow in using the feature so that the app can play the correct sound.
Bug 2: About 3/4 of book transfers to the Apple Watch fail. There is no real reason why.
On the plus side after years of ignoring the problem a couple of years ago they fixed the slow download issue that a small number of Aussie users suffered.
I know that dev teams and marketing teams like focusing on new shiny shiny features but - given your monopoly position - you have a responsibility to reduce bugs.
Olafco03 - Censorship, Waste of Time, Just buy a book in Real Life
I have seen this app, push really hard in the country I live in. And I was intrigued. I downloaded the app and fiddled around with it till I figured out you cannot purchase in the app itself. Fair enough, it took some time to figure it out but not too much. Then I went on the website. Carefully browse through the selection of books I wanted because the “books” aren’t cheap, all of the ones of interest most likely are about $30-$48 mark. That means that I listen through the sample, read out reviews, compared narrators for a few different books. Finally, I decide to make a purchase. And I get a error message “Sorry, this book is not available to purchase in your Region/country!” Wow! Digital age is coming and it’s a lot easier to restrict and censorship people and knowledge, bit concerning. Buy a book in real life, support that book store. Really disappointed and really a waste of my time.
Sven2620 - Love audible but. No in app purchase! No category/genre filter.
I want a one-stop shop app but...
1. hate that I can listen to a sample but can’t download from the app. My kindle lets me buy a book in the app - just want the same from audible. Including displaying the price i will pay in my country- not $US as currently occurs.
2. Sometimes I want to listen to specific genre in my purchased library like crime or sci-fi. I can’t filter/display by category/genre, only by recent/author/title. Please add this function to improve usability.
3. Hate that I can’t get entire series due to publishing rights, especially when it is the earlier eg 1st or 2nd in the series!
4. Once in a book it is great! Love bookmarking & sleep timer. Audio is excellent too.
ML Coops - I know what your doing The series by Zane Michaelson
Wow what can I say, this was my first Audio book to listen to. I wasn’t sure if it would do the book justice, but it totally did. Jack Nobles voice had me mesmerized, I felt like I was a part of the story.
This series is one of my favorite ever, it totally shattered and devastated me in parts, I cried and felt angry and anxious in other parts but overall I couldn’t switch it off. Jenna is one of the most forgiving and strongest Women I know, the lengths she went too, to fight for her Marriage and Family, was admirable. The love that both Zane and Jenna have for each other has survived a very devastating time in there lives, I wish them love and happiness always, because they both deserve there HEA.
Anon # 101 - Thoroughly researched story told well
I really enjoyed listening to this book. It taught me a lot about so many different things - geography, archeology, anthropology, navigating by stars, sea currents, diet, linguistics, how history is passed down and so on, and how all of these aspects came into play when researching and trying to understand the evolution of Polynesian peoples (from a European perspective). One thing I longed for was a map to look at to understand more fully where all the islands are in relation to each other, though it was well explained how far apart they are and how and why it was challenging for European explorers to discover them in the first place, hence the premise of the book in the first place. I also wanted to see written down some of the Polynesian names and terms to gauge accuracy of pronunciation.
Joeleous - Great But
Great app but some draw backs in its execution.
1) Book ratings cannot be trusted. Only customers who purchase a book can rate it which is fair enough BUT you can’t review a book once it has been returned AND if you review a title and then return it your rating is not weighted as highly as others. This explains why most books are rated 4 or 5 stars.
2) Book samples are only 5min which is not long enough to get a accurate picture of a book. Maybe 10% or 10min would be better.
3) Given the above two flaws it is harder to pick good books initially. This makes the ability to return books all the more necessary. HOWEVER The ability to return books are blocked too soon. I have bought numerous credits and titles and only returned those that I have not finished.
Irish Lass forever - The Drop Off
I had the absolutely pleasure of listening to the “Drop off” by Fiona Harris and Mike McLeish.
It blasts us into our diverse Melbourne and to the life’s of three wonderful characters, Lizzie, Megan and Sam who all have to deal with the monotony of the ‘drop off/school life’ but in the process, discover the absolute joy that these precious moments create.
This Hilarious book so cleverly written by Fiona Harris and Mike McLeish highlights how we strive to be successful parents and try to act like mature adults but can so easily slip back into the child within, aching to be accepted, respected and loved and back into the politics of the playground!
The superb delivery of the text, with its many characters (and accents ) and the connection to the emotion of each character is so beautifully handled. There are some very emotional, gut wrenching moments from Sam( Mike Mc Leish) amidst the hilariously portrayal of Lizzie’s family (Fiona Harris) and Gyton Grantley’s Rick.
As a past ‘drop off’ school mum, it reminded me of the friendships that crept into my life on the morning drop off, and that developed into some of my most precious friends.
Bali lovee - Barefoot investor
I have bought the book rarely have enough time to sit and read as I have a full-time job, spent two hours a day driving to and from my full-time job my days off are spent keeping house paying bills going shopping etc. The audio version of this book gave me the opportunity to read this book with my ears on the two hours I have spent every day driving to and from work. As I have a book I can refer to the book I know what it’s all about because I’ve listened. There fore the Barefoot is definitely worth the money as it gives you great ideas and I’ve already saved the money I invested into both the audiotapes and book just by switching banks.
Photographlee - Amanda Lee - HappinessHQ
I don’t know how I’d love without it! I use audible every single day both for my personal and professional learning. I recommend it as almost an essential resource to every client I work with. It enables them to absorb huge amounts of knowledge and concepts on the go during their busy days. This would obviously not be anywhere near possible if relying on reading. The only time I’ve needed to return a book the refund was prompt and without hassle.
The only thing I would say is that the set up / initial using of audible has caused issues for nearly every person I’ve recommended it to. Also some confusion arises in terms of Australian audible versus US.
Eliza Mckellar - Rangers Apprentice: The Royal Ranger by John Flanagan
An all time favourite author of mine and a forever beloved series, I felt extreme nostalgia reliving the stories and adventures regarding Will Treaty, and loved how even my favourite characters have aged as I have. I loved the introduction of Maddie and as always, enjoyed the plot line in all its heartaches and triumphs. It was even better to listen to it on audible for the first time. I loved the little musical inserts in between chapters, made me feel like part of the adventure somehow. Any book in this series is always a five out of five for me. It’s a recommended book series for any book worm out there, or for those who aren’t book worms! Start with John Flanagan.
Sarazon - Generally great, buggy right now
I’ve been happily using the Audible app on various iPhones for some years now, and it has always performed flawlessly. I love being able to purchase books from the app using credits and the sleep timer (which prevents me from dropping off and missing hours of story).
However just lately there’s been a bug. If I pause the playback, sometimes it fails to play the audio. The play button is on, but the timer doesn’t advance and there’s no sound. To fix it I have to restart my phone, which is inconvenient. I am currently using an iPhone Xs, running iOS 13.5.1.
Peterit - Great story - could have better Australian connections
Great story and very well narrated. I like to choose Australian crime fiction especially where it is set in rural settings. A big suggestion I would make to Jane is a little more Australian research. We don’t have fields in Australia - we have paddocks. If this book changed every reference of fields to paddocks that would make a big difference. A bit of geographic research too - 500km north of Melb takes you to NSW. Yes yes I know it’s fiction - but. The fire scene at the end was a bit far fetched reflecting not a great understanding g of fire behaviour in the Bush. Lastly the reference to snakes - might be safer to refer to brown snakes not tiger snakes. The latter either don’t exist in that country or at best they are rare. Anyhow other than these things I loved the story.
Wes Bending - Evolution
I downloaded the app when I started a journey of self discovery. I was lucky enough to have a 3 hour commute each week where I dove into books on mindfulness, psychology and self discovery. I no longer commute for work but carry the books and there teachings closely with me. I’ve just now returned to audible to accompany me walking my long rural driveway. On this morning after the completion of Joe Dispenza’s ‘you are the placebo’ I stand here In a pure state of gratitude for all I am and the journey that delivered me here.
Thank you Audible, blue tooth and all the people in this world that take the time to write down there thoughts for others to share.
Suzy whitmore - Worthy of a PhD
I wondered when I bought this book whether I would learn anything new. Well, I sure did. In the 90s I was involved in domestic violence services in Queensland. The understanding now of coercive control and domestic abuse is a much better framing of what is going on that leads to the death of one woman a week in Australia at the hands of an ex lover.
The author blends detailed qualitative stories from survivors, bystanders, family members, and X perpetrators. Supporting This understanding is the statistical data which is presented clearly and six synced Lee. The authors passion for her subject and for those who have been subjected to domestic abuse is quite moving. Jess deserves all the accolades she is accumulating.
Sarah Maxwell 13 - Game Changing
I think this Brene Brown Book is so relevant. I have a 4yr old and I’m excited by the possibility of raising my own game so that I may “hold the boundaries” for my child as a commitment to what I signed up for. It’s a privilege really. Not always easy but worth it! Thank you for describing compassion in a way that I have some work to do on :) Your definition of “play” was massive as I generally don’t feel v playful yet there are things where I lose time and am not so “purposeful”!
Again, thanks for being the kind of human who not only researches but uses the learnings in real time w her family!! Keep bringing the goods as we are listening (even all the way in Australia!)!
As18_appreview - Terrible experience, don’t waste your time!
The worst app experience!
Firstly, signed up & followed all the steps to purchase my first audio book via browser, not the app (which is ridiculous that you have to go & do it via browser & can’t do it in the app in first place) Purchased book that never appeared in my library once i accessed the app...Absolutely unacceptable after trying so many things, including logging out & reinstalling the app. Like seriously? You follow all these complicated steps to get the audio book & cannot listen to it, since it simply doesn’t appear in your Library?!
As the last point of frustration, decided to cancel my membership & guess what...i wasn’t able to, i can only pause it! Absolutely devastated with this terrible experience, there is no way this should be an app that people pay for...
Shane_J_Gumboot - I’m all ears. I hope someone’s listening as well.
Everyone should give audiobooks a try. Audible has helped me enjoy and explore so many more titles and topics (over 200) than those dusty, neglected titles stacked on my beside table.
Along with a constantly updated and wide array of captivating and entertaining titles, it’s great to share the experience of so many of the great masterpieces of mankind.
I appreciate that they are preserved in spoken word form for our future generations.
Whilst the above is true I still feel compelled to hold a Star (or two) of hope that someone, who is proud to work at Audible, will take the lead in preserving and presenting some of the many, many fine works of the late great Mr James A Michener.
It’s been great to listen to and savour other masterworks like War and Peace or Crime and Punishment. It’s a long long list.
Humanity should hold on to this timeless wisdom. Lest we forget.
How about titles like Centennial or The Source or Alaska?
Like earning the Audible trophy’s within the app, Audible will earn another two stars (from me) when they publish some of the Mighty Mr Michener.
I’m all ears. I hope someone’s listening as well :)
BlueBlls2 - Love audiobooks, frustrating app design with some annoying bugs
I have an Audible membership and listen to many books. However, the app needs a UI/UX redesign (or at least tweaks) because it lacks an intuitive design.
Faults include difficulty finding one’s wish list and other useful lists easily.
Two worst current bugs are: 1) On iOS accepting an inbound phone call when listing through AirPods, the audio book keeps playing over the accepted call rather than pausing. 2) Intermittently and usually after 30+ minutes of continuous playing, the playing audio book pauses when ones (iOS) phone ‘sleeps’ that is when the screen goes to sleep. Killing and restarting the app fixes the issue for a while, then the defect commences again.
Sonzofzsea - Love the app but I miss the Old review page
I really liked the app use it daily but I miss when finished book being able to finding others from same author or or earlier book that aren’t part of the series but are after the series or before
Or recommend based off the book it use to happen but I did freeze for some reason some time on that page so I guess getting rid of it was good
Why don’t box set or omnibus set not count individual book as got/read little bit annoying when the recommended list is halve the book 1-5
Small Town Wanderlust - Laugh it up
From the first day I heard the cackling laughter of Candace Payne, I was hooked. I was having a really bad week, I mean REALLY B.A.D. week. The pure joy from the Chewbacca Mom broke through a crack in my darkness and filled me with a glimmer of hope. Thank you for sharing this very personal and inspiring book with us all. I enjoyed the narration on Audible from Mrs. Payne herself. It made it all the more sweet. Thank you for your wisdom. I truly believe we would be best friends IRL.... totally in a non-stalkery way!!! All the way from Australia.
“What if’s steal our hope and they drive a wedge in our relationship with Joy. Joy doesn’t fear the what if’s, she thrives on what can be” Candace Payne
Rnodern - Strangely difficult
There isn’t a logical, easy way to get the books. I had to log in on my computer to “purchase” a book, and then spend a bunch of time and support questions to have my book appear in the app. I can’t see a way to “purchase” a book from the app. Furthermore, There are about 10 different market places. It doesn’t automatically select based on your login or where your login purchases books. So, you may buy a book and it will never show up unless you change marketplaces, which also isn’t very easy to do either. This is ridiculous, adding an extra layer of unnecessary complexity. Make it simple like Netflix or whatever. I’m also an IT professional. I can’t imagine how hard this would be for mothers and fathers or tech illiterate. I hate the experience thus far. Just make it simpler for crying out loud.
👌👍💕 - Small change.
Love this app and have enjoyed the fact that I can download and listen in poor service with no loss of quality. However I do love to enjoy many books over a weekend and would love to organize a folder to enjoy linked books together or to be able to shuffle titles to reflect an order of listening to.
Have enjoyed the quality of narratives and refer to all my friends. I also wish I could let friends borrow my paid for books and share my new fave with them to get them hooked and loving new titles.
Hopeful Gav - New Hope
I downloaded this book sitting at the airport where I booked a flight to get away for the weekend as my wife & I were preparing to separate & most of the decisions have come from the way I feel and the fact that I have no fight left in me to save our marriage, after listening to this audiobook on the way down it has ignited my fight levels through the roof & a day later Re booked a flight to go home, all I want to do is go home and share this book with my wife and hope it’s not to late
Most inspirational book I’ve read
Hopefully I’m not to late to put this into practice
Pagey#2 - There Goes Gravity
I loved this book. What a joy to listen to Lisa talk about her life with Music. A fly on the wall account of life in Music and musicians. You can hearthe love and appreciation in her voice, the passion she has for music and it’s people. I loved her talking about all these musicians, artists, producers, friends and hangers on with so much joy and appreciation for what she saw and where she has been.
You can tell that with Lisa it’s all about the music, people and experience and no bull . I’ve learnt so much from this including bands I hadn’t heard of. I will definitely listen to this again.
Ecoscentstial - Audio books - outlander series.
I have enjoyed the books for years now, reading and re reading again and again, but eyes are getting weak so I have purchased the audible versions. These versions are every bit as enthralling as the actual books. And the lass who vocalises the characters does an amazing job. Some light background noise on occasion can be heard, but not enough to detract from the stories. Can’t wait for the next volume. I wish other authors put so much detail in their books, it is the detail that allows you to lose yourself in the story. Thank you.
Makatees - Highly recommend
A friend sent me a link to my first free audiobook a few months ago and I’ve been listening to several books each month since. Because of the nature of my job I can listen to audiobooks all day while I work, it’s fantastic. I like the feature that it syncs between devices and takes me to the place where I last read. I gave this app 4 stars because I think there is room for improvement. I listen to several books which I refer back to at a later stage, but finding the part I’m looking for, takes ages. It would be very helpful to display the title of each chapter and not just the number.
Rellegen - Crashing App
I love audible and have used it for five years now - but in the past few months there has been a problem when downloading a new audiobook - it gives the option to play immediately after the download starts (whereas previously it would make you wait until a certain amount of satay has been downloaded). If you try to start playing the audiobook too soon, the app freezes. Nothing short of deleting the app and starting again will fix this, which is frustrating when I just want to start my new book!
Bullettbailey - Almost perfect
Great app, does what it needs to, BUT...
The app is missing two important features. First is the ability to purchase titles from within the app. Probably has something to do with apple taking a cut of in-app purchases but it would be nice to at least be able to spend credits this way.
I am astounded this next missing feature still hasn’t been added as I’ve seen people requesting it for literally years. Please please please please PLEASE, give us the ability to organise the books in the library on our devices into folders. Scrolling through a long list of books to find the right one gets old fast, and being able to organise them into groups of folders of author/series/genre/whatever would make this app perfect in my opinion. I wouldn’t even mind if the folders were local only and not shared between devices.
On the whole, probably the best audiobook app and service out there, 4 stars for having almost everything but loses one for the lack of folders.

Au resto - Many faults
Where is the free category?
Can’t buy and download directly in the app? Seriously!?!? Work it out with Apple! I’m sure you can find a way.
J1222 - Terrible UX
It should not be this difficult to BUY something from a company. I should be able to make purchases inside the app or at least click a button that would take me directly to an outside URL where I can pay for the item I want.
Will delete app after listening to a podcast series only on Audible.
Toukay - User beware
This app deletes all purchased book tokens, regardless of count, if you cancel the service.
I had a purportedly odd situation of having my accrued tokens deducted when I opted to pay cash for an audio book. Some audio books will not be worth the monthly book time you get from the subscription.
Instead of investigating my complaints I received formulaic responses about browser caches and otherwise.
After deciding to cancel, only the did I learn that all the money I spent on book tokens was going to be deleted.
Every other service I have ever dealt with at the very least offers some manner of refund for the unused portion of the service.
So beware. Audible comes with a very unpleasant lock-in mechanism that will punish you for cancelling.
Samanthaj94 - Not Impressed
Downloaded and paid for membership back in February. Cancelled membership on audible.com over the summer but still found they were still charging me monthly after the fact. Called customer support to find out what the charge is for.
Ended up finding out audible.ca had been charging me - even though audible.ca came out after I had bought the membership. Issue: audible.com says I am not enrolled in a membership, whereas audible.ca says that I am.
I understand that these are two different services but this is one company. I think it’s ridiculous and very misleading that one company related site would say I don’t have a membership, while another company related site says that I do.
Customer service did not even offer a refund for the months I cancelled my subscription on audible.com
Please work on having some sort of uniformity when it comes to membership information displayed across your websites.
Caledongrl - there could be major improvements to this app
The app worked better before, after all these updates the app for IOS is very flaky. Cuts out, freezes, stops, won’t load, a whole mess of things. My rating has gone down for this app since the quality has gone down significantly.
Biggar - How Many Years Has It Been?
I can’t remember how many years it’s been that I’ve been listening to books through this App. I was there at the beginning. Audible puts me to sleep at night and Audible has accompanied me on thousands upon thousands of road miles.
This app is still doing the job - nothing fancy, it's a vehicle for enjoying the varying content in the audiobooks.
ScottyD1976 - Very difficult to cancel subscription
I subscribed to Audible but found listening to books wasn’t for me. When I went to cancel, I found it difficult throughout the process. You can’t cancel from the app or through the mobile site...only the desktop.
Hfsuebay - Hard to cancel
‘Free trial’ but you need a desktop to even cancel. You cannot cancel through mobile or the app but you can use those to sign up. Don’t fall for it.
RobTheMan2 - App on iOS is seriously lacking in functionality
The selection on here is great, but other than that, the iOS version of the app leaves a lot to be desired. You can’t purchase an audiobook on the app, you can’t even access your wishlist from the app. You can’t cancel your subscription from the app. Whatever you purchase is forever stuck on the Audible app and can’t be transferred elsewhere. All you can do is review titles on the app and play the purchased content, and then everything else has to be done online. Come on, guys! What’s the point of even having an app then that has nearly zero functionality?
Happyandhealthy2.0 - Hard to use
App doesn’t explain how to use it. I had to look up how to buy a book.
Then I couldn’t get into my account because of “suspicious activity on my account” so I got a message saying they sent me an email to unlock my account which I waited hours for and never got.
Downloaded and deleted in the same day.
Nicnic09 - HORRIBLE APP
This is bar far the worst app on iOS. I cannot understand how anyone would rate this five stars. It is the most un-user friendly app I’ve ever been on. Feels like it was made by 5th graders.
Mmalette74 - Stupid App
They make it way to complicated just to listen to books, which you have to buy, besides the 14$/a month you already pay!! I can’t believe people have rated this 5 stars, barely deserves 1.
PICK A NICKNAME APPLE - Ridiculous
One of the worst experiences ever on an App. How do you buy books? You don’t, they sit in your wishlist forever because you can only listen to 5 minute samples.
104729294728 - Completely useless app on IOS
Go ahead see for yourself. Download audible and try and buy yourself a book. Here’s a hint you can’t. You can’t do anything on the app other than browse titles. Ridiculously convoluted interface for something produced by a huge company in 2020. For the record, to purchase you must open your account in a browser and purchase in browser then you can listen through their app. Would be an easy 5 stars if I could simply download and use Apple Pay to purchase books and listen to them immediately after downloading. If you don’t know already there are massive archives of free ebooks and audiobooks all over the internet. No need to be bent over a barrel price wise and robbed of your time trying to figure out how to give Amazon your money.
Shylhjwllks - Hard to use
Trying to figure out how to purchase and access content is challenging. Even free content. I still haven’t figured it out, I gave up on the app before I could successfully finish listening to a story. The library is enticing though.
Krstdrvr - Terrible
Downloaded then deleted this app right away. Extremely confusing to use. How do you buy books? And where is my wish list stored?
Nevergonnastopno - Never Get This
I’m warning you, never get this app or pay for the membership. What a waste of money, and they make it impossible to cancel the membership. $15 gone from my account after I thought I canceled my membership. Thanks, guess I’ll wait until my next paycheck to buy groceries, not like I need to eat, Audible.
Peter peach - Brutal
Very user unfriendly!
Can’t access my wish list on my phone, can’t use my credits from my phone. Why is there an app for your phone if none of the features function. Dumb. App should be called inaudible.
TheMightyMelanie - Then it would be Perfect ...
I love the app. And all the extras. I love that I can add notes. It would love if they had “CC” closed captions. They mentioned it in a YouTube... but must be bata still ?
Anime_crit - Literally changed my life
Anyone who knows me knows I'm dyslexic and I hate to read, I hate typing even more and have never liked it. Since graduating highschool I've probably gone threw 8-12 books as I found them to be a pain. This year I decided that my new years resolution was to listen to audio books. I've gone threw over 80 books and it's only September. I'm crushing them while I'm driving and working out. I've lost 40lbs and my dog is even healthier because we're walking more. I got a promotion at work because I have more information and I'm helping out in more ways. Honestly I wish someone would have told me that this was a real option sooner.
SavedByTheBloodOfJesus - I am lost
I am not able to listen to a full book or buy one on the app. I can’t even see my wish list. I am confused and there is no steps for getting audible.
E.rickwood - Terrible
I’ve tried to cancel the subscription multiple times but they keep taking money from me. There’s no way to download books from the apple app. Do not recommend
Panjabi - Can’t cancel subscription
You can not cancel subscription from app.
You have to login using desktop to cancel.
Cristo Robert - Not giving credits after charge
Contacted Amazon and told to search for Audible Canada. They cannot help. Got my Audible subscription through Amazon. Acting like con artists
JkfmskIznskafnzkskamskdos - TERRIBLE
If you have an IPhone don’t even consider downloading absolute waist of time and will never use anything related to this company again.
Sanyay - Do not buy. Almost impossible to cancel
Bought this membership ages ago, then cancelled it to my knowledge. Then I got a good look at my line of credit I put all my bills on and saw they had literally been charging me for months. I know for sure that I cancelled, because I sunk over half an hour into trying to figure out how the hell to do so. So when I saw all the charges months later, I was livid. I cancelled again, wasting another half hour trying navigate their app and site. So I sent a follow up email saying I’d cancelled and that it’s extremely shady that they make it so difficult to end payments. After speaking to support they informed me that my membership STILL hadn’t been cancelled!! I even had a picture of my confirmation saying I’d cancelled it myself. SHAME on you for tricking people into giving you their money. I demanded a refund of everything I paid for. DONT BOTHER. GREEDY COMPANY.
Jordanaisbananas - The “woke-est” book I’ve ever consumed
Will probably need to listen to this book three times over to soak in all the wisdom it has to offer.
Carolyn's Journey - Annie Grace This Naked Mind
This audio was life changing for me. I highly recommend it !! I have learned so much as far as the unconscious mind and how it controls our emotions and feelings of how we see alcohol in our lives!! By changing your unconscious beliefs it allows you to let go and be free from the “poison”!! Our minds are so powerful!! Changing the way you think about alcohol gives you the power to eliminate alcohol from your life!!
Johnmanis - Rubbish
Keeps freezing & is very slow to navigate
Ab3123 - Terrible
Terrible app with terrible supports
Nutherun - Great service, terrible app
Cuts off the starts of every chapter, and doesn’t save my spot on any device. You can’t purchase books from the app, you can’t even look at your wishlist from it. They claim that this is because of Apple, yet I have plenty of apps which allow me to at least look at a wishlist!
PMystery - Needing iOS 13 or better is crap
I just lost years & years of audiobooks. Can’t access the old ones. Can’t buy new ones.
Anharox - Not worth your money
Unable to utilize credits to download books. At times, difficult to navigate. You are better off buying a book, or two, or three.
BFAFDFg - Not impressed
This has got to be the worst app I’ve ever used. It’s confusing, not easy to use and my amazon account on desktop and app do not align/meaning I can’t access my audiobooks, despite being the same account. Total fail amazon. You can do better
Hashtagmurse - Error
Audible will not work for me. I signed in using my amazon prime account and it says error check back later when I go to my profile. I can still sample a book but can’t make any purchases. Hope they fix this profile error!
186262cbrads - Can not buy audiobooks directly for iOS
Please change this! This app is fantastic but it’s ridiculous you can’t buy audiobooks directly through the app for iPhones.
Yunora - Expensive
I love this app but the cost per month is just not worth the only one book per month that you are given.
Calipsoris - Relatively terrific app
Make sure you own a desktop computer, you may be able to subscribe from your phone through their mobile site or through their app but when you need to cancel your subscription they will only allow you to do so through a desktop computer.
Also make sure you redeem all of your credits before you cancel your subscription because they won't honour the credits that you already purchased if you haven't found a book that you like. Unredeemed outstanding credit gets taken away with your subscription. They don't sell books.
To buy books, you need to use your browser, not the app. It is very weird. Other than that the app is okay
Oye.prince - Where is the wish list
No one in the world can find wish list on this app. There are reddit pages, popular google searches about not been able to find wish list in the app and these guys don’t fix it.
Joy_____ - Frustrating!
This is the most frustrating app! There is no where to buy a membership, or buy individual books. You have to go to the main website, but there isn’t even a link anywhere in the app to the website. Why? Once I finally figured it out I was so frustrated that accidentally got the wrong book, and now there is no where to return it! Even thought I haven’t downloaded it. There needs to be a way to return media easily, especially when you haven’t even downloaded it!
Gee911 - Buggy
The apps sometimes “forgets” where you were in a book and you have to figure out you’re listening to the same stuff again, a bit frustrating.
Mugj - Error on profile page
Mediocre app. Can’t see my profile for last two weeks now. Time to unsubscribe
Mhppss - Not happy
I can never find where I take my book from, I have some sitting on my wish list,!
Zeelowcee - Bad app
This app is confusing to use, I started a trial with my amazon prime account and I was unable to download any books. This app is poorly designed and confusing to use
Mecanopsis - Phyge
Please stop putting my books in catagories!!
This used to be a fine app till it rearranged all my books!!
I paid for these books, and I prefer to arrange them my way.
Adam Weiler - Keeps crashing
Its my first time using Audible, and the app has crashed about 4 or 5 times in as many minutes. I’m not very impressed.
Mimijenna - Disappointed
My husband and I have using the audible application for years and at first it was amazing but suddenly the app stopped working on all my device. Only way to access to my library is by going on the website witch is annoying for so many reasons.
Make sure the app is working before subscribing that my advice.
Thenameisfab123456 - Wtf is that set up???
Jesus effing christ the set up and email confirmation and app fixing and having the 30 day free thing not working. I felt stupid doing this the whole time, wasted 2 hours on this and still have not found a solution. I have 2 audiobooks waiting to be read but the audible app is simply not letting me without paying immediately.
Ocsafar - Bad app
Can’t even download anything isn’t giving me any options not even simple to use don’t recommend
IBintune - Great selection
Wonderful selection.I love to listen while going for a walk. Only criticism is that it is a bit pricey...hence the 4 stars review.
