Excellent!. Fantastic. Provides more flight planning and flight enroute info than I will ever be able to use or need. There are other very good programs of this type out there. How, with this you’ll never need another. And their customer support if you have questions is excellent. I’m using it with Stratux ADSB In now. Interface was perfect.

Runs hot on iPad mini, stratux ahrs glitch. Using the latest pro version on iPad mini 3 w/128 gig. iPad runs slow and hot with WingX . Stratux W/ AHRS synthetic vision just does not work. Jumps all over the place. Support at WINGX said something about “older low memory iPads being challenging”. Wow. How much hardware does it need? I got it free as a Veteran, but it's tough to justify the hassle. I certainly wouldn’t pay for this. Prolly go back to FF.

Does the job. Fast and stable. I use 1800wxbrief for flight planning anyway so that feature, while below gp and ff, is not an issue. Could use W&B though.

Behind the Competition!. Wing X is falling way behind the competition at at fast pace. I kept the app installed in hopes of an update, but I finally gave up! FlyQ, Aerovie, are way ahead and they keep coming up with updates, I made the switch, and I don’t think I’m coming back on less Wing X comes back.

For CFIs. Wing X pro is free for cfis just scan your certificate and email them and they set me up with a free account 👍 I love foreflight but I am tired of the 200 dollar a year price tag

Best Aviation program. I have been using some form of WingX since 2005. It can do everything I need while planning a flight and while flying. I do quite a bit of IFR in an aircraft that has very little avionics capacity and rely on WingX to keep me on my flight plan.

Customer service is almost non-existent - Having more and more issues lately with the app. Just ok, used to be awesome. Customer service has taken a turn for the worse and if you e-mail or call you will get voicemail and they will cal you back in 3-7 days. They used to have the best customer service, now if you have a problem you will wait and eventually decide that maybe one of the competing apps is a better match. I made the switch to a different app but will keep this app installed to see if they bring it around in the future.

Poor customer service and support. I was a long time user(12 years). Product worked well for the price. Recently upgraded to IFR and paid a 3 year subscription. On a 1200 mile cross country my weather would not work so I called “tech support “. Told them I was available for 2 days to fix the problem before my return flight. No solution and then they quit answering the phone and my emails. After return flight with no weather, I get some emails from the owner of the app trying to help. Still no joy. I asked for refund, no response. Do yourself a favor and use another EFB other than WingX!

V9. Downloaded the update today, and am still waiting for the TERPS alternate mins and takeoff mins to become scrollable documents. Anyone else like to see this? I’ve been asking for 3+ years.

Great flight app. Easier than foreflight. Great app. Ive been a user for 4 years and continue to try the competition. This is the most intuitive, easy to use flying app. Less clicks per flight as well. Should be 5 stars.

Update includes the addition of removing Traffic Pattern Altitude. TPA missing., hence . . . One more star missing. Thanks for the update! I’m adding one star. Keep it up WingX, you can make your way back to the top. Despite the glitz of ForeFlight, WingX was my preferred app. The information display was easier to use in flight, and the split-screen function is amazing. This app was designed for flight and I introduced it to many of my students. With this update WingX seems to be back in the game. A number of annoying bugs fixed. Might go five stars again after using.

used to be good. i’m using this app for years for helicoptrer flying in the NY area and really liked it. in last 5 month APP will constantly crash, i tried many things to solve it by myself including installing on a new Ipad than i find out that this app can’t be backed up and i lost all my stored waypoints. I informed custumer service on the problem but they did nothing to solve it.

Map is not working.. Can not use the app with the new update OS 16. Map moves off the screen.

Pleasantly surprised. Extremely pleasant Lee surprised the features of this software reset the flow routing information on the left-hand side with the add and subtract routes dp, stars etc. very user-friendly. Works great when given stars in route, routing or changes in DP’s on the fly.

Didn’t track at all in flight. I messed with it and learned how to use it on the ground and then took it flying, not once would it track us on the ground or in the air. Wasn’t even close to being accurate on the airport diagram either. Used on an iPad.

Seriously buggy interface, beware!. I regret to have to write this unflattering review about my experience with the wing X app. Last week I downloaded it to my iPad as I am a student pilot. I attempted to purchase a database subscription and encountered an error message only after the purchase had processed through the App Store. I thought it was related to the subscribing email address not matching my Apple ID so correct that, purchased again, and encountered the same error message. It turns out that the moronic web developers who have written wing X did not first create a sign in or register screen, and they did not allow me to register for an account before excepting my purchase attempt. This is just crazy and unacceptable. I had to seek A refund for the first purchase through the Apple store. I have written to Hilton, the company that is responsible for the wing X app, and will see how they respond. In my opinion, the user interface is terrible, offensively bad in that it does not request user account creation or login before permitting access to interior screens including purchase selections. Hopefully they will fix this. If not, there are other excellent map and navigation apps for student pilots that I would consider using instead.

Great EFB!. Super app for aviation packed full of features, I especially like the ADS-B weather and graphics, makes long cross country flights much safer with the wealth of real time information available.

Tried several EFBs. Still looking.. I've evaluated and used many EFBs. This one should be free and then "maybe" I would renew my subscription. For some reason They just do not seem to be supporting WingX anymore. New features and fixes seem to take a VERY long time. Foreflight seems to be supported much better however having compatibility issues. Still looking...

Custumer service very slow and not helpful. Application constantly crashes during flight I complain couple times but not got solved so far

Prog charts not working.. Some time in late 2018 wingx pro stopped downloading the prog charts. After repeated calls and messages, I was told there was a bug that would be fixed right after the new year. It is still not fixed and no communications from Hilton. I just renewed db subscriptions so l'll stick a little longer, but I'm not sure they are continuing to maintain the software. I hope I'm wrong as I was an original user when it first came out. I'll look for them at OSH and see what they say.

Great software. I switched from ForeFlight to WingX. Both are great platforms but I like the interface much better.

Customer Support Lacking. Over the past couple of months I have been trying to resolve a high resolution map loading issue. Initially, they had me delete and reload database but steps did not resolve issue. I sent them screen shots and follow on information. Last I heard was they had submitted defect to tech team and have not responded to further inquiries on status of defect. Very frustrating and poor customer service to not even respond.

Disappointed with upgraded software not compatible with current Ipad. Been using WingX for many years. One year ago I purchased the 3 year software package through the app store. Hilton made no mention of the hardware upgrade that is necessary for the software. Now in order to have legal FAA current charts and airport information Hilton has advised me in order to use their App, like I have for 5 years, I must go purchase another upgraded iPad ! This upgraded software move did not happen until I was 10 months to a year into my 3 year subscription. Now, I contact Hilton to ditch their App and go purchase Foreflight and Hilton says sorry no refund from them ! Nonsense, Hilton should have advised me of this major change in their product that rendered my current Ipad useless to fly with, or, refunded part of my 3 year subscription money!!! Not happy!

Best aviation app. Little learning curve in the beginning but powerful app Used them all. Staying with wing x

CFII. Love WingX pro. I tried fore flight for a couple of years and came back to the best.

Really love this program. I took a four year hiates from flying and got back into it again last year. I had the best of avionics including a Garman 430. This program is really better in many respects and Only requires an iPad and a GPS transmitter. I'm only flying vfr now but could not have done the flights I have done in the busy northeast corrider weaving my way around different air spaces. It's a great GPS and has many many other functions that I don't really use. I Love this program. thank you PS I got my IFR currency and love using the approach plates. Especially like the Geo referencing so I can see my plane's exact position as I do an approach. I have no problems with slow redraw rate or anything else. Support has been excellent. Program has everything – flight planning, E6B, IFR and VFR for maps, approach plates, Airport information, and weather. Just got ADS-B– from Open Flight and am looking forward to using it on my iPad to display weather and other aircraft. Great program thank you

Great navigation app!. It’s been several years since I’ve flown and used to do all my flight planning and navigation the old school way, which is fine, but with this app, what used to take me a few hours to do... I can now do in about one! And using this app on my iPad makes it even easier! I can flight plan on my iPad and set it up with the synthetic vision, and then use my iPhone for the moving map with terrain overlay. Great app!

Almost great. I have only used FltPlnGo and this app, and there are many features of this app I prefer. I will use this for in cockpit backup over FltPlnGo, but will use the other for flight planning purposes. The only useage issue I am having right now is finding how to turn on the breadcrumb trails. Is this even an option?

Good but bugs. The app is awesome, it with my new Ipas upgrade, I’m getting a consistent GPS off every 3 seconds. With WiFi and stratus. Hopefully they fix this soon

Weather doesn't download at all now. I use this app on a daily basis, after the most recent update (which was supposed to fix the weather not auto updating) the weather doesn't update AT ALL. Obviously this is a huge problem, and as a long time customer of WingX I'm beginning to seriously consider making the switch to foreflight. These little bugs that we are still dealing with are absolutely ridiculous.

Haven’t kept up with the competition. Finally gave up after using Wingx for years. I hope they are making money on their military contracts because Foreflight and Garmin Pilot have surpassed them by a fairly wide margin for GA features. I would have switched sooner but switching also means buying new portable AHRS unit.

Works great. Can do everything I need it to do and much more. Great customer service as well, there was an issue with the AHRS while using Stratux that I emailed them about and the kept me updated periodically until it was fixed. Now that everything works I decided to review the app. It takes some time to learn all the features (I still don’t know them all) but it is easily a 5 star app and I highly recommend it. Thanks for supporting active military and veterans!

Maps constantly redraw. Very annoying.. Maps will not pan smoothly. Reposition, zoom or pan a map and must wait for the map to redraw. Continuous screen flicker as maps redraw almost makes the app unusable. Same happens with any map layer selected. Using other apps until this gets fixed. Use with caution!

Can’t login to use it. I can’t login using the trial period. It won’t come off the login screen. Too much crap on this screen. There is no Login button. I deleted it since I couldn’t get pass the confusing login screen.

No traffic since update.. Long time user. Since the last update I have lost traffic. I contacted customer service and they admitted this is a knowledge issue. No ETA on fix. This was over a month ago. Wing X used to be the best. No longer is.

Fantastic App. Very reliable and stable. I have used it in several over 1000 miles cross country flights in a Cessna 120 and it did not skip a bit. Works great without Internet and extremely accurate. Love WingX!

Updated into useless version. This was a great app and used it for years until they 'upgraded' it to the point that the iOS requirement now exceeds my iPad model. Like Windows if I want to use this now I have to buy new equipment. A common programmer mistake. They should offer a legacy version so we don't have to ditch it and find another product. Not good business.

Disappointing. I’ve used this for three years and found it to be adequate. The real annoyance was all the finger tapping to go through various menus. But, what really was a turn-off was the unanswered questions I had. They never returned answers to my questions. I changed to ForeFlight and now understand why it’s the most popular EFB. And they always answer questions promptly.

Disappointed. I’ve been using WingX for many years now but their development has really fallen down. After one of their major releases about a year ago, I needed to buy a new iPad to get their software to run. Also, the FAA added lightening strikes, icing, airmets, and other helpful weather info to their FIS-B broadcasts over 2 years ago I believe and WingX still is not able to show that information. Are you serious? To my mind WingX and Foreflight were the top EFB choices but now WingX is just another also ran-ran.

Functional, Full-Featured Flight App. I have been using WingX since it was on the Compaq iPaq and I absolutely love it. The wealth of features and functionality is outstanding and the support and improvements in the software let me know Hilton Software is committed to this app and the pillows that use it. I highly recommend it.

Been working from Blackberry to ipad. I can't even remember how long I have used this thing but it has worked nonstop the whole time. I fly all the time and often go to unfamiliar places. I typically fly alone and a fair amount of the time night or IFR. Flying is even a commute. How we ever managed with paper charts amazes me. Get a reliable tablet with a cell data plan and you have it all. This is flight planning made easy and without a suitcase full of paper you have to mess with all the time. This latest rev of the program is the best yet. And with ADS-B in it is great for planning traffic avoidance. Yes one can actually plan to avoid others rather than just dodge them. The connection to and appearance of data from ADS-B seems instant when paired with a Lynx NGT9000. I also prefer NOS charts and plates to Jep. This is somewhat a religion issue but for me it is just what i grew up with. Why not five stars? The briefing interface is a bit arcane but no worse than DUATS was. Leidos made a big improvement and I think WingX should too in this area. Part of the issue is not WingX but the NOTAM mess which even the government had complained about. Drive on Hilton as I hope to have afew more decades of good product.

Great app and cust support. This program rocks. It works well and is easy to use. Also, the customer service is top notch and easy to get ahold of. Also, thanks for supporting the military. I will never use another EFB in my jet.

The new release is a big regression. WingX used to load and react to user input much faster than ForeFlight. This new release has made the maps so slow and sluggish, almost unusable. Even foreflight is faster than that!

Great App!. -Recommend Take Off mins sorted by airport ident (like in aero app), time consuming to page to all the take off -1 -2 etc to find the airport needed. -Recommend Dod flip data for Korea (and world PAA, EEA, etc). I have to switch back to aero app every time I deploy. -Add AHRS / HUD / synth vision for aero app. -I have to carry aero and wingx both to get all the features I need please cross level between the two apps or have a DOD setting / database for military wingx users who have NGA accounts. Thanks for a great product. Truly awesome.

Excellent. Truly an egg outstanding electronic flight bag product! I am an instrument instructor for both ground school and flight coursework. Privately, as well as at a local organization. I am recommending this to everyone. Multiple overlays, intelligent – if sometimes counterintuitive – user interface, exceptional graphics. This makes flying easier and safer. I trust the data I am being shown. That should say all of it. One small additional item that I have not found in the program yet, the MOS. Model output statistics from the National Weather Service, that is the only thing I am still looking for here.

ForeFlight be Wing X. I have been a long time user of WingX , and hope we very disappointed with the recent release as I had expected a lot more. I just received the “Subscription renewal “ notice about a week ago. I use both Wing x and the Advanced IFR add on. Once I received the renewal reminder , I decided to give ForeFlight a try. After using the 30 day trial for a Cooke or days and getting used to it , I have to say , ForeFlight is light years ahead of WingX. There are a few things I like better with wing x , but that’s probably because I have used it exclusively for 6 years , but Forflight offers so much more in every area , especially in flight planning , finding IFR cleared routes automatically, filing etc. sorry , WingX , I have made the switch to ForeFlight WingX still just doesn’t seem to want to invest in making their product more competitive and feature based.

Used to be a good program.. I have used WingX for several years now but the latest revision is driving me to switch to ForeFlight. The split screen is not supported on my older iPad and with the airport map open in the route my system crashes. Support is slow and lacking.

Great program, slow on the updates. Features like runway extension have disappeared, while new ones like ‘direct to’ are very good. Waiting for the next update...

Ten years. I have used wing x for ten years exclusively every day. For the past 6 months the weather radar has been inoperative on the map view.I have contacted support seven times about the issue. It’s still not working. My friends maps aren’t working either they are all going to foreflight. Please help!

Awesome co-pilot. This app is great, it has transformed my piloting experience. Navigation is a cinch, all info at your fingertips, or mapped. Plays nice with my homemade raspi Stratux, including ADSB and AHRS/synthetic vision. Highly recommended, find a place for your iPad mini on your panel and enjoy.

brilliant software. This is brilliant software for the active, knowledgeable pilot: it's enjoyable to use, cleverly designed, intuitively ergonomic, and amazingly useful. There is the odd small snag, but I've found Hilton Software to be quick to address them and keen to improve. I've gladly switched from mountains of paper charts and approach plates to this nifty piece of programming. I use WingX both on my iPhone and on my iPad, and have even found the iPhone version sufficient for cross-country IFR trips. The route planner is far easier to use than Foreflight's, and the split map view is fantastic for switching between enroute charts and approach plates. -R. Rosenkranz, Victoria, BC, Canada

No Canadian Coverage.. To all Canadian pilots out there. Don’t waste your time with this app. There are no VFR sectionals for Canada. If you want a low cost alternative, stick with FltPlan Go. To bad, I like to support these smaller outfits.

Why the hate for Canadians?. What's with the lack of Canadian coverage? Good thing I got a free 30 day trail otherwise I would have felt pretty ripped off. It's not just Canadian pilots asking for Canadian coverage, US pilots fly to Canada by the hundreds each day. This might be a good program for non professional Private pilots who don't travel much. But true professional pilots will want an app that works at all north american airports. Time to get on the ball WingX or it's back to ForeFlight for me and a lot of other pilots.

Wingx. I was thoroughly disappointed with software as it has absolutely zero Canadian coverage. No airspace, maps, airports (other than a very few major ones on the border but no info on them). I was even more disappointed with their customer support. After a week not a peep. My recommendation is to save your bucks an purchase the $39.95 Air Nav Pro. Less expensive, better coverage, and certainly better customer service. I really feel as if I wasted $99.

👉 Are you looking for an Adsense alternative advertising platform?

Adsterra is the most preferred ad network for those looking for an alternative to AdSense. Adsterra is the ideal choice for new sites with low daily traffic. In order to advertise on the site in Adsterra, like other ad networks, a certain traffic limit, domain age, etc. is required. There are no strict rules. Sign up!

Great App & Support. I've been using wingx for a year now and love all the features. I started with Foreflight but like wingx much better. Some of the features like runways, full name searches, passive radar, terrain, split screen, etc... are very useful to me. When sage tech releases their adsb unit in 2013 ill be set. Support is also great. I had the "missing" runway issue someone else posted about and called them and got help right away. Turns out the problem was that I had forgotten to enable runways as a display option so no bug other than user error. Keep up the good work! Some requests for future versions: 1. Please add weather, airmets, notams and pireps to the moving maps when connected to wifi. 2. Add a ruler function so we can measure distances and bearings for flight planning 3. Beef up the route planning navigation log to display wind info used for ETE and allow user to enter different wind speeds AND add the ability to print/email the navigation log so we can use to track actual vs. planned times while in flight 4. Update the help file to include all the new cool features you roll out so we know what they are and how to use them!

Nighttime Approach Plates are Great. I have been a user of WingX for many years and the program continues to improve. With release 7.0 I believe it has everything and more that the alternative programs offer. With WingX, I have everything at my fingertips when I am flying. With its 5 page electronic notepad, I never need any paper in the cockpit. One thing I don’t see the reviewers discussing much about WingX is the Nighttime Charts feature. Having a white chart glowing at you when you are shooting an approach at night is terrible. I don’t think WingX's competitors offer the nighttime approach plate feature. Frankly, when I was comparing WingX to the other guys three years ago, this feature is what really crystalized the decision for me. Besides all the other things in the program, this one really differentiates. WingX also automatically downloads the weather database for the entire US when it is connected to the internet and is open. It is a very compact file. Since I have a dataplan on my iPad, when I am in flight I have all the metars and TAFs, and wind data that was current right when I took off. WingX may more complex to learn than its competition, but if you spend the time with it, the program is incredibly effective during flight and for flight planning. It is my most used aviation app and is essential for my flying.

WingX Rocks. After extensive review, including Aviation Consumers top rating, and various flight magazines and web info, I bought this over Foreflight and other competitors last year. I've got over 1,500 hours with lots of it high performance time, commercial and instrument ratings, and a good panel with Garmin GPS driving a S-Tec 55X. It's done a wonderful job to plan and fly some long trips and I've recommended it repeatedly. If I had it to do over I'd get the 3 year contract, buy the iFly mike to go with a Bose noise canceling headset and Xavion to complement the WingX info. Easy to use and flexible. There are also additional modules that some might like. Additional note. I am not now nor have I ever been a WingX employee or related to them in any way, just a satisfied user like the other reviewer. Same with Bose, Xavion and uFly should a question arise. Web search will show that the 99 cents was to discourage random downloads, but the real program, like Garmin, AOPA, ForeFlight and all others, requires a subscription. There are other excellent choices, but Aviation Consumer gave it a top rating as do I. It's bad to have a product and review slurred by someone hasn't read the instructions.

Great app but bugs introduced frequently. I've been using the app for 6 months now and love it and certainly wouldn't be without it. But it would be nice if the constant improvements didn't sometimes kill functionality. Recently I had a problem (now fixed) where my own location wouldn't appear - very disconcerting. And now in the latest version, it's no longer calculating fuel and time usage, even with the parameters entered. Update - I just worked out the issue. The new version, 8.6.9 calculates times based on altitude. If the altitude you enter doesn't make sense (I had 1,000 feet when the elevation was higher), it won't calculate it. Remove the altitude, as for the no wind case, and it works fine.

1 second ROI. Just a quick note to tell you that I had a one second return on investment after purchasing your product last Friday. I purchased it to enhance my situational awareness in flight. well, it worked. This Sunday night, I was flying myself and four women back from a shopping trip to Jacksonville, FL with a destination of Charleston, SC. My direct course took me out over the ocean (about 12 miles out to sea) where it is very very dark. I was about 20 minutes into my flight when I experienced total vacuum failure. I was on the remaining gauges instantly, but was wondering why I couldn't see any lights under or around me. Was I farther out to sea than I realized? Was I in the clouds and didn't know it? I needed to know EXACTLY where I was without fiddling with dialing in multiple frequencies to get a cross fix of where i was. I NEEDED TO FLY THE AIRCRAFT AND KNOW WHERE I WAS AND IF I HAD OTHER ISSUES AS WELL. I turned on my iPad and within 1 second, I knew exactly where I was and where I needed to go. I got conformation of my course, speed, altitude and within a few minutes, I was back over land and my comfort level went up that I didn't have a systemic failure of other systems. So in that 1 second, your software paid for itself. Well done. John F.

Stability issues resolved, but Moving Maps won't work in iPad 3. I wrote the review below on Mar 29, 2011. In the meantime they did manage to fix the stability issues, but now that I have upgraded to an iPad (3), the moving maps have become basically unusable due to a rendering issue on the retina display. Kudos to their support team for responding back right away to email (with "we're working on it."), but until it is fixed can't really use the software, which is irritating when you are paying a subscription fee. Also irritating is the fact that they still, after over a year, haven't turned the user forum back on "due to spam." C'mon......really? I know of app developers that charge $1.99 for their app (one-time!) that seem to have been able to resolve Spam on forum issues (usually via a "captcha" requirement). Previous review on Mar 29,2011. Using on iPad2 64 GB ATT. Crashes/exits occasionally, particularly in split screen view. Route planning doesn't seem to have as much functionality as the iphone version (Optimization of route missing.....or maybe I just couldn't find it). Lack of usable forum (they've had their user forum down for months because they claim they can't stop spam.....most other folks can resolve that issue in days) or online knowledgebase on website. Good start, though. I will wait until stable version before going IMC with it.

Love this app. I have been using Wingx for well over a year now and can say without a doubt, it is the best of the aviation software apps on the market. I have tried them all. And I have demonstrated the differences to several friends who have ultimately purchased wingx for their ipads as well. Several were already running foreflight but after seeing wingx, they made the change. That being said, I am planning on using the synthetic vision and the ads-b weather and looking at the Clarity dual SV. Was hoping on hearing about feed back you have received from anyone using this. Any help you could give me or direct me to some reviews/videos, I would greatly appreciate. I am a Single Engine Tanker Pilot and currently fighting fires in Idaho. Wingx has made my job much easier and safer.

SAR Grids Added. I have to say that the added features in the 6.9.0.0 version are great, particularly for a Search and Rescue pilot such as myself. I had asked the developer to include search grids and within a few months it was done, fabulous result actually exceeding my expectations. I have used Foreflight before and it was a good product, but I really think WingX Pro is superior. The WingX developers are truly trying to make a world class product. I am sure as time goes on, it will continue to get even better. Every time I have contacted Hilton Software with a question, they respond quickly and with good complete answers. This product continues to get better and better, I am a huge fan!

Best while in flight. I use both WingX and Foreflight, and find both good for flight planning with each having areas where they are better. However, once I'm in the air, I have been using WingX exclusively. The operation is easier, and information easier to read. Especially in turbulence it is easier to operate. I really like having speed, heading and altitude (adjusted for baro setting) on top of the approach plates. Looking forward to updates, but it gets increasingly difficult to remember that these programs are for "situational awareness only", as they completely outstrip anything the primary navigation on many small, and many big, airplanes can provide.

Awesome. I am a 20,000 hour Commercial Pilot and find this app to be a huge safety tool. What I love is the easy of use and the layout. What makes this shine over the other apps is: Split Screen. I am able to preselect the next chart I'm going to need and one click of a button and it is now available. I like the terrain feature for situation awareness. It can be overlaid on VFR sectional or IFR charts. TFRs overlay on the sectional of IFR chart for great SA. METAR circles color coded for VFR to Low IFR. Great for coming up with a plan when the WX is down. The new route planning is great for picking IFR routes in the mountainous area where I usually fly. Lots of great fixes on the latest revision. I Iike now when you zoom in on a taxi chart or approach chart the airplane doesn't get bigger and block the chart. Well done!

Best Aviation App Out! Period. I have been using WX for about 6 months now. My instructor recommended it to me and have fell in love with it since I saw him use it. I tried using others such as Foreflight and Flight Guides version, but they don't compare to WX. As you should really get to know the app because there is so much the app can offer, Just got to know where to find it. It's all easy once you get use to it. It's like the Garmin 430 offering a lot of features just got to know where they are and how to use them. I have spoke with Hilton at Oshkosh and he is very nice and is all about customer satisfaction! He is always open to new ideas and ways to make it better. So if you have a suggestion or an idea, I recommend to email him, so we can continue to make Wing X Pro Apples TOP Grossing App!

Great value. I have subscriptions to 4 EFBs, but WingX is my favorite, and the best value. It's the little things that sets WX apart, and they offered many features well before the competition: split screen, extended runways with traffic patterns, position reporting, passive radar altimeter , terrain and obstacles, vertical profile, distance measuring, and integration with ADS/B. While some upgrades are available, you get more features in the base price than the competitors. The $100 3-yr subscription is a real bargain. Really looking forward to the next update! -:-:-:- Update -:-:-:- 7.0.0.0 came out just a couple days after my review... It added weather overlays right over the moving map. The previous update added airport weather, on the moving map, from the Internet or ADS/B. These guys move fast.

Awesome Product. I am a captain for American Eagle and I use this app daily for work. Situational awareness is at a new level with this app. If you are a pilot either flying in general aviation, corporate, or 121 I highly recommend this application. You will not find an aviation App that has so many features. Great Value!!! Most useful part for me is the airport diagram. It displays your aircrafts location on the chart. Very useful at night, low visibility or unfamiliar airports and the moving map. Just last week It helped me determine the closest airport for a diversion. Every pilot I fly with wants it and so should you. Customer service is amazing!!! I emailed the company on a Sunday for a lost password and had a response within a few hours. Thank You

Very Good Application. Just got a new IPad 2, the SkyRadar receiver, and this app. All good choices. There is a great moving map on a sectional or IFR chart and the whole application is easy to figure out. I did need a little help 5-10 minutes on the phone with customer service with how to actually see the metars/tafs etc. after I flew the first time, but customer service was very friendly and helpful. I was told they will, within a couple of days, have a utube video user guide which would be very helpful. There was nothing in my area today that would show up on the nexrad but I expect that to show up ok as the other weather information is showing up. The picture quality of the sectionals, approach charts are very good. I'm canceling my XM weather on my Garmin 396 and with what I'm saving on the subscription it will pay for the 32GB Ipad 2 wifi plus 3G in the first year. Great job WingX!

jthepilot. I have used Wing X for more than a year now. I no longer recommend the app for 2 main reasons: the developer's customer support is non-responsive after multiple attempts at contacting them, and 2) the company seems to be backing off of long standing claims to be developing capability for XM weather/mobilelink support for inflight weather display. To obtain weather information while airborne with WingX, one must purchase an ADS-B box. However, ADS-B is still of limited usefulness in many parts of the US, and full functionality of ADS-B means a major investment in new avionics for the aircraft in addition to the ADS-B unit. Other EFB apps support XM weather very nicely, and it seems that the company is telling me that I should be using one of them if I want my weather information this way. OK, I did try them and they are very good at the important things WingX does (SynVis and terrain are exceptions) and provide in-flight weather display and reporting using XM. They actually provide pilots a choice between using a new ADS-B box or XM.

Great aviation app.. I have been using this app since it was available for windows phones back in the day. It has come a long way. I love everything about it. As for recommendations, i would say that having the ability to make annotations on approach plates and airport diagrams would be helpful. Also, for the iPhone specific app, it would be nice to have the avconnect functionality like you have on the iPad with the ability to start and stop logging flight time right from the moving map screen. For the guy who can't find the current plates, make you have selected the IFR option under download options in database and subscriptions. I had the same problem since the last update, but realized it was my fault. Highly recommend this app, and they support the military guys too!

Great iPad app for pilots. I am a very serious IFR ATP aircraft owner, and this app has proven to be a great resource to add to my on-board GNS 530 and Garmin 496. The latest version has what I consider to be the "must-have" feature for serious GPS IFR navigation--the "4NM buffer" feature: This way you can quickly scan 4NM either side of the direct course centerline and determine the highest obstacle or terrainnot within that 8nm width and give that to the pilot to be able determine the FAA mandated lowest safe minimum off-airway altitude for that direct GPS course. This feature is fantastic! I keep it displayed as an option on my sectional view, and enroute, with the unique split-view of my low altitude enroute IFR charts, gives unparalleled situational awareness and safety. Great product...I have compared both it and Foreflight side-by-side and this app, in my opinion is the best at this time.

Meh. It’s ok, definitely not the best out there. I would never pay for it and only use it because it’s free for certain users.

Best App, Great Integration. I don't ever review apps, but I just had to write about how great this software is. I have WingX with XAON XRX PCAS traffic, iLevil ADS-B and AHRS unit along with the recently released pass through of the XAON information to WingX via iLevil. The cable, xaon, ilevil combo worked great yesterday and identified traffic before atc, gave me live weather in the air, backup heading information along with ads-b traffic all on wingx in a busy Seattle airspace. Really pretty cool and I don't think I am nearly as comfortable flying without my high tech instruments any more. This is in addition to all of the other features which are too numerous for me to mention. I know that ForeFlight and WingX are big competition (which is great for all of us) and I have tried both. Hands down, WingX has the best features, quick development and outside hardware integration. Thanks for the great team work and please keep driving this market forward and making flying safer and more fun.

The best navigation app. The new update looks very impressive. I find that all of the approach plates are available I don't know what the criticism about only having airport diagrams available is about, I did not see that problem. I really like the new feature which allows me to find the range and bearing from my current position to any place on the chart so easily. The ForeFlight app is not even competitive with this one if you're doing serious flying especially on instruments. This app provides amazing situational awareness when flying in real instrument conditions, and I've had a chance to try it in difficult conditions and found it absolutely superb

awesome app. I'm a military trained 7,000 + hour ATP. I've been using Wing X pro7 for several months, and am tremendously impressed! The system works flawlessly! While I still maintain my subscription for paper charts, I've not opened the chart bag in flight for months. I'm especially grateful to be able to use the geo referenced charts. It really helps as a single pilot in IFR conditions for situational awareness. Since I'm not as tech savvy as some younger folks, I'm grateful that the software is so wonderfully intuitive. What I also appreciate is that technical support is just a phone call away. Hilton sometimes answers the phone himself. No matter who you talk to, they are patient and happy to walk you through questions. My calls have not been because the program isn't working properly, it always does. My calls, instead, are to say will you help this old guy understand how to ____. I find them very accommodating. This company and their program deserve a 5 + star rating for a great program and great service! Jon Gibson

Tough choices. This app has an incredible amount of potential. As far as I can tell fore flight and wingx are neck and neck. Each having their pros and cons. My biggest problem with wing x (besides the obvious bugs) as an IFR pilot is the inability to see published holding procedures and other navaid information( I.e. VOR intersections and the radials needed to be dialed in.) fore flight uses the actual enroute charts and doesn't have to worry about this. One thing wing x does do well is the ability to see airspace dimensions, tap a spot and it spells out all airspaces and their altitudes. A feature fore flight is lacking. There are many more examples I could give. Either way I'm excited to see what the ipad's role will be in future cockpits.

Good - Could be Much Better. I do like this app but it could be much better. The fact that they give CFIs a free subscription can't be beat. Very smart on their behalf. The user interface needs a makeover for 21st century human factors. The sectional is very cluttered at the default settings. Right out of the box many annoying features must be disabled to make the sectional user friendly for a pilot. It certainly seems it was designed for people who are not pilots or cannot read sectionals. For example, "Heading Ind," a gigantic annoying compass rose, VORs, state borders, etc, etc, all must be disabled in the settings before I use the app. All this data is right there on the sectional already and is just clutter overlaid by the app. A note to the developers: please, please, please for the love of God make there a way to disable those annoying airport labels on the sectional. Also, as stated below, the ability to selectively download individual sectionals as well as terrain data for the synthetic vision (which cannot be used without an external AHRS, anyway) should be features added in the next update.

This app has NO PEER!. As a student pilot on a fast track upward, I've looked around at all the apps that claim to provide this kind of service. While some are good, this one is fantastic. In my opinion, WingX Pro7 has no peer. It is cost-effective, contains all the functionality I need, and they continue to improve it! If you're looking for the perfect iPad app to assist you in your navigation, this is the one. Excellent. None better that I've seen, and I researched them all. This is the one. Also, I strongly recommend the Dual GPS receiver to complement the iPad's GPS functionality. Put the Dual GPS receiver on your dash, and WingsXPro7 is amazing. Rapid updating, accurate information, everything just works. Well done!

Doesn’t work out USA. Usless

Superlative aviation application by pilots for pilots. WingX is a phenomenal game-changing application that is improving the way we plan and conduct flights. As a WingX user, I would not have imagined that there was a possibility for enhancements and improvements, but WingX Pro is even better. It takes full advantage of the iPad's larger screen and adds further functionality and features. I still can't quite comprehend just how much information is now available anywhere, anytime. Gone are the days of worrying if an FBO has a working PC with decent software -- WingX gives me better info faster than an Internet browser or some dedicated, but antiquated flight information program running in the dark corner of your typical pilot lounge. The software architect is incredibly supportive and responsive and the application continues to advance rapidly. This is not to say the program is in any way buggy or limited, but rather that it just keeps getting ever better. I'm grateful for Hilton's support. Every pilot I know who owns an iPhone or iPad, upon seeing WingX, immediately acquires the app. I want to thank Hilton for contributing to making flying safer and even more enjoyable. The app is popular with GA and commercial pilots and a large number of Civil Air Patrol search and rescue pilots are discovering the app and thrilled with the capabilities that WingX now puts at our fingertips. If you fly, don't think about it, just buy it.

Best EFB. Hands down, WingX is simply the best. Great company, friendly support.

WingX is Awesome. I've been using WingX for over a year now and it just keeps getting better and better. It is chocked full of very useful features the other aviation GPS apps are lacking like a terrain database, split scrren capability, GPWS to warn you of obstacles, simulator to pre-run your flight plan, SynthVision, flight tracking that displays in Google Earth and many more. In addition to all the great features in WingX, I found it much easier to read in a bouncy cockpit than ForeFlight. Oh yes, I forgot to mention the track-up feature is very nice too. It puts dots on your sectional to show where you will be in 3, 5 and 15 minutes. Lining these dots up on the track line make it easy to fly a very straight, direct path to your destination. With the cost of gas these days, that feature pays for the app. I wish the GPWS had been out about a week earlier. I ran into a low ceiling at my destination airport and it would have been great to have. It sure would have added to my comfort level knowing where the obstacles were and my altitude relative to them. All-in-all this is one awesome app that is well worth the money. I really enjoy flyng with it.

Heading indicator is off by 13 degrees. The heading indicator is off by 13 degrees when connected to my Stratus 3 with this latest update.

Great Program - Leads the Pack. I visited Sun & Fun earlier this year to look at all the aviation programs that run on the IPAD and to select the Best Of The Best for use in my S35Bonanza. After trying them all I chose WingX Pro7. I then flew to Oshkosh using WingX Pro 7 and found that I used it more than the GNS 530W and MX200 with Chart View for navigation. The terrain feature was particulary usefull when we flew into Telluride, CO and across the Rockies. The split screen and the ability to quickly switch between navigation (sectional or IFR ) and georeferenced approach plates instantly was very useful. The expandability of the charts is such that you can really see where you are in relation to other features. This feature was extremely usefull. While at Ohskosh, I reviewed and tested the latest aviation apps for the iPAD and found that again the performance WingX PRO7 was Head and Sholders above the rest of the pack!

Excellent!. A low rating for WingX Pro7 is unbelievably bizarre. This application is excellent! I use it routinely, both pre- and in-flight. Airway entry speeds up route planning by automatically entering waypoints along the airway. Route planning via moving map touch screen is intuitive and quick. Weather data is broad and useful, and can update in-flight via 3G. Moving map split-screen displays most relevant information by phase of flight, from takeoff, climb, cruise, descent, approach, to landed, and makes good use of the iPad's generous display. GPS altitude enables terrain awareness. iPhone WingX subscribers don't pay an additional service fee for the iPad version. I recommend that you read IFR magazine's review for more details. Having WingX on the iPad plugs me into a wealth of organized information that enhances preparation, safety, and situational awareness. Pilots that value these things will find WingX Pro7 a great value.

WingX Pro 7 is almost there. The 4.1 release on the iPad is really pretty awesome but it still tends towards flash rather than carefully considered user interface design. For instance, when displaying Prog Charts I look for trends by looking at the current chart and then the 12, 24, 36, and 48 hour charts. To do this you have to keep going back and forth to menus. There should be a slide-show effect instead. Also missing is the ability to fly a radial from a VOR or an radial/DME fix. While these should have been obsolete many years ago ATC routinely assigns them and if you know about what will be assigned it is nice to flightplan for it. Lastly, fuel cannot be measured in pounds. This is a minor fix and would make the program a lot more useful for a segment of their market. All that said it is a great app.

Great program!. I’ve used this, foreflight, and NGA Aero and honestly prefer this app.

Phenomenal!. This application is amazingly good and it keeps getting better with every release. Hilton Software is extremely talented and they listen to their users to keep constantly improving what is an awesome product. The bang for the buck in this purchase will exceed that of anything you have ever purchased, with the possible exception of your iPad. I have Foreflight on my iPad also and that too is an amazing app. While Foreflight is terrific, Wing-X is more feature-rich but harder to learn. Hilton's video tutorials help a lot and I am looking forward to more of them. I heartily recommend WingX to all but the most computer-shy pilots: to them I would recommend Foreflight.

WingX beats them all. I tried all the ipad apps for aviation gps navigation. They all did their jobs well and of course some were better than others. In my opinion WingX beats them all hands down. Every feature you can think of is included and they all work well. What's really important is that the people at Hilton software are constantly upgrading and improving the software. You've got the swapping split screen, synthetic vision, pitch info, geo referenced approaches, ads-b weather, traffic information. The list goes on and on. Also important is the fast response you get from inquiries no matter how silly they man seem. So you've got superior software and service. Unbeatable!

ADS-B. I flew 1hour each way in IMC from MI to NC, the return trip we had intense rain without convective activity, showing red on the Wing X Pro 7 iPad Sky Radar ADS-B display. ATC offered to re-route us to avoid red areas ahead, but I assured them that we just had limited (zero) visibility and we maintained our course. We came out of the red just prior to our destination and saw our home field in sunshine while one mile behind we could see the intense (red) storm we had just exited. ATC appreciated our Pireps and they were amazed at the accuracy of our in-cockpit weather information which coincided with their radar displays. Wing X Pro is so intuitive and user-friendly and the support is amazing: quick, concise replies that resolve any questions or issues. And now having the Airventure Notam on the iPad split-screen view is so fabulously helpful, I can't thank them enough for how they anticipate our needs and supply solutions at such a modest price. Thanks Hilton Software, you guys are great!

Awesome service. I had a technical glitch with purchasing the full version the night before a flight. Sent an email at about 2:00 am. Was surprised when I woke up the next morning to see that an answer was sent at 3:15 am the night before. Customer support was absolutely the best. Re: the app itself, I was evaluating both this and fore flight. Decided to go with wingx even though it was missing three or four features I really wanted. Absolutely floored when the day after I bought the app they released a new version that had every one of these missing features (draggable route lines, custom waypoints, TACs). Haven't used them yet but if they work properly I will go from being 90% satisfied to 100%. Couple this with the top notch service and I'm perfectly happy with my purchase.

Best inflight App, beats Foreflight and Garmin. Absolutely wonderful app. I used this on a trip that went from Sacramento-Spokane-Colorado Springs-Pensacola-Sacramento. I had to divert due to WX twice and having all that information at my fingertips was huge! I also use it in my military flying,, useful in the cockpit of a T-38. The only thing that the other two have on WingX is the capability to overlay wx radar from the internet. When i was using Garmin's Pilot MyCast i could overlay the radar over the sectional and tell if the wx was in the MOA, or along the route of flight. I know WingX does this partially. You can see ur route with wx but it is in the wx products which is not displayed on a chart. If u get ADS B then that will display wx on charts but of course thats 1k more and u cant preview it sitting in the pilots lounge. I wish this would be addressed. Other that that i cant say enough about this Product

Great...and continuously improving!. I've been using various versions of Hilton's software over the past 8-10 years. It just keeps getting better, easier to navigate through the program, more information, faster and smoother. The situational awareness is spectacular and it now has replaced several much more expensive handheld aviation GPS units. The form of the IPad is a little large for the average GA cockpit unless you have a sidestick but it's manageable. Thanks for your help Hilton...keep up the great work...WingX keeps getting better and better. I'm running out of reasons for being lost. Customer support is top rate....solutions in seconds.

Do not upgrade to the latest version. ADS-B radar has zero transparency. If there is rain out there, the maps will be useless. It used to be the best app out there. Bummer.

Gets Better with Every Revision. I fly Boeing 767's for a living and have to say that the capabilities of WingX blow me away. The interface takes a little getting used to, but after a few hours you should have no problem navigating the amazing array of functions. The screen resolution is excellent and even in bright sunlight the display is quite readable. The major improvement I would like to see isn't a WingX function, but more of the "walled garden" restrictions that Apple has taken with the iPad. Apple MUST allow devices like WxWorx to sync up with the iPad. Combine WingX with real time weather radar and you now have capabilities not seen on multi million dollar airplanes.

Killed my EFB. Beware won’t work on iPad Air 2. No warning whatsoever about non functioning maps on older machines. Unacceptable. Have been a loyal user for many years. That’s done. beware

Incredible product. I can't believe how incredible this product is. I became very proficient on my first 2.5 hour flight. The geo-referenced taxiway diagrams are very helpful at unfamiliar airports. Downloading the entire Continental US database is very quick and easy. You can register your pilot profile in the DUATS section on the app and then use it to file flight plans and access briefings with ease. You can watch your progress on the moving map and switch from sectional to enroute to synthetic vision instantly. When flying approaches, every approach to every airport is a click away and you can see your position on the approach plate. FAR/AIM current versions are in the database. You must have a cellular equipped version of the iPad to use the product as the wifi only version doesn't have a GPS receiver. I do no have an account with AT&T or Verizon, just needed the GPS. In my Baron I do not need a supplemental Bluetooth receiver as the built in GPS works flawlessly. My iPad is not mounted, I just lay to on the center armrest or my leg. It is easier to hold than my old 3" thick Jepp book.

Indispensable. I researched all the major iPad apps available before deciding on WingX Pro. It has depth, breadth and an elegant interface. An important part of the decision was the system's ability to expand and access ADS-B radar info on traffic, etc., so I spent the extra bucks and got the iLevil puck. After flying with everything for just three weeks, I can say with certainty that I made the right choice. Everything works and it is the best situational awareness I've ever enjoyed in many years of flying. One of my non-pilot passengers, after I explained everything on the screen to him, said simply, "I can't imagine flying without this." After my last thousand mile cross-country, I can't either. It is a powerful system developed by people who know how to do the right thing, the right way. To Hilton and company I gratefully say, "Many thanks for the hard work that went into making flying about as easy and enjoyable as it can ever be."

Esther G.. I couldn't be more pleased. Other pilots and I have sat down with WingXPro and ForeFlight to compare them, every meeting! Each app. Has good points, but we all agree that mine is better for our needs, we're search and rescue with Civil Air Patrol. What's even more impressive is Hilton's Support group. I'm a dinosaur when it comes to computers and they walk me thru, promptly respond to my questions, and listen to CAP's special needs and take the steps to make their product better. Our pilots are seriously considering switching over when their apps expire. The ones who have an iPad on their Christmas lists have already decided. WingXPro has my vote, hands down and I can only tell you I won't go flying without it and give it my highest recommendation.

WingX Pro 7. I have owned WingX for both iPhone and iPad. Recently flew IFR to Tulsa Flyin in Bartlesville, OK from Albuqeurque in my Cessna 172. Found WingX to be extremely helpful. I have two RAM Mounts and positioned the iPhone just to the left of the airspeed indicator and the iPad off to the right in front of the copilot's seat. I use the iPhone in addition to my Garmin GPS 300XL connected to an Aspen AT300 to view the moving map. I use the iPad as the best way to follow weather, AOPA airport information, A/PD and get the latest information on routing etc. It's a paperless cockpit. When you fly over cities with 3G access the iPad can update weather which was pretty important on this trip. My Cessna is equipped with an STEC Autopilot and is fully certified for IFR flying so I use WingX for situation awareness. With the NACO approach plates it is straightforward to view your holding patterns, and fly the approach whether it's an ILS, GPS, Localizer, or VOR as a backup to my certified equipment. It's awesome. I've used another program and decided not to renew. The WingX Pro 7 and WingX for iPhone is simply the best. I've got 3 GPS' in my bird and it's loaded with everything any pilot would need.

So Great!!. I was spending about a thousand dollars a year on paper charts, plates, and facilities directories; but have canceled the paper subscription and now use WingX on two devices instead. The time savings don't just happen in the cockpit! I like how easy it is to get a full US update without having to manage my old flight bag! I know there are other reasonably decent options... I have signed up for the evaluation period of several apps, but this one is the very best I've used. Some less expensive apps are very difficult to get updated charts loaded for the whole US. The split-screen capability (display chart and approach plate at the same time) is not a gimmick. I file IFR on almost every flight, so I'm usually flying a SID, STAR, Approach... If I'm not taxiing. Being able to see the chart and plate at the same time is essential. Customer service is good--I don't understand why some others have had a problem. When I have contacted Hilton via email, my questions have been answered within a day. However, several great suggestions I've offered have gone unheeded--hey, it's their program and they are doing a good job with it. I'm not offended. WingX is great, and if you are thinking of trying it--you really should. Cavu2992 CFI, MEI, CFII

WingX...Quality,Simplicity, Reliability. Have been using WINGX VFR/IFR App for +13 years

Needs better internet WX. Great product. I use it with my new Sagtech Clarity SV ADS-B. The Carity worked great in the air. Wing X needs some work though. In the air it worked pretty well. But flight planning and getting internet WX is not so good. I use Garmin Pilot to get my WX breifing with radar and file my flight plans, If only Garmin Pilot used the Sagetech ADS-B that would be a great combination. The internet WX also does not auto Update. You need to manually refresh it often to keep it cuurent. I wish WING-X would make this a higher priority, Need a seamless solution from flight planning to automatically dipsplaying safe taxi on landing. Better filtering on traffic and better info on the ADS-B towers would also be a big plus. An option to show a target screen with towers with distance heading etc.
