NextStop - NYC Subway App Description & Overview

What is nextstop - nyc subway app? NextStop is the app for New York City Subway riders who don’t like to waste a minute. At a quick glance, it tells you when the next train is scheduled to arrive based on your current location, selected station, or pre-defined favorites. With this information in hand, it’s easy to figure out the quickest route between point A and point B.

A green dot indicates that the countdown is based on a recent, realtime location of the train. A gray dot indicates that the countdown is based on MTA timetables (pre-published schedules). See the help screen for more details.

Features:
- Displays your favorite stations based on time of day (morning commute, evening commute, etc.).
- Shows upcoming stops at all stations near your current location.
- Shows upcoming stops (including times) for selected train.
- Includes the official MTA map. Clicking a station displays upcoming stops for that station.
- Allows browsing of lines and stations to find next stop for any train.
- Displays MTA service alerts (delays, service changes) and advisories (planned work, etc).

NextStop is officially licensed by the MTA and all graphics are used with permission.

NextStop uses the Apple Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement available at https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/

Needs a few things worked out. My main issue with this app is that if you select a given train direction to see when it will arrive at it's future stops, you can't switch to see any other trains or directions. All my faves take me to the same schedule. It crashes pretty often and hasn't reliably predicted a train's arrival for me yet, which are my other complaints. It's an intuitive app and could be very handy, just needs a few fixes.

Inaccurate arrival times, but good interface. This app shows the same inaccurate times that the MTA lists on their schedule. So really, it’s the MTA’s schedule that has little relationship to reality. Why the MTA can’t implement accurate train tracking for all the lines has been a mystery to me, particularly in this age of GPS, Wifi, cellular data, etc. Anyway, the bottom line is that the arrival times of trains is fairly worthless. But the app has a very well designed interface. I think when the MTA gets their act together (…don’t hold your breath), smart phone transport apps will be great, not barely useful like this one is.

Stop looking down the tracks. I've installed just about every NYC subway app and this is the only one that gives you an idea when the next train is coming. It's usually surprisingly accurate but even when it's not (and considering the slack in the schedule you can't blame the app) it's extremely helpful to know if the next train is 2 minutes or 10. I would be willing to pay for this app but given that it's free what do you have to lose?

beautiful, but missing diversions?. I usually use the excellent iTrans NYC app, but the presentation here of next train times is quite well done. Of course trains are often off schedule but until the MTA provides actual next train info outside of stations, this is as good as it gets. Not sure why it's free, but I'll take it. I'd definitely pay for this one. One big concern: checking iTrans just now, I see scheduled diversions for 14 train lines. All very detailed and current, pulled from the MTA's site. But in NextStop, I'm only seeing 6 scheduled diversions. I'm not sure whether it's not looking ahead as many days or what, but I'd double check elsewhere before taking NextStop's diversion info as final. Only other criticism I can come with so far is that tapping on the map seems to bring up some oddball results. I tapped on the 110 St. 2/3 station and got a station way downtown, and tapping on Union Square brings up results all along 14th St.

They’re back. This is back to being the best subway app, especially if you just need line info. The alerts are working. The real time is working. And we don’t have to put up with the “trip planning” requirements in some other apps. Thanks devs and designers! PS hopefully there is a widget planned for a future release.

Needs to update the map. I really like this app, I usually rely on it for work since I work different hours & different places everyday as a freelancer. I find the train times pretty accurate for the most part. I mean, if a train is late...that's not the app's fault. The only thing I will say is that they really need to update the map. I went to check to see if they put the new W & 2nd Ave Q line in, but I noticed that they never updated the added stop to the 7 train by 34th St either. That stop has been there for a couple of years now & there's been talk about the 2nd Ave line & the W for a few years as well, so they definitely had time to prepare for it. PLEASE UPDATE THE MAP

Updates and changes. No longer able to select future arrival times for a certain line. That was the best feature of this app!

Update got rid of my fav feature. I really liked using this app for planning ahead, but the feature to chose a time other than the current time does not appear to have made it into the new update. Since I never use the 2nd ave line I kinda wish I hadn't updated it at all. Please bring back the option to view other times besides the current one.

Simple app, does what it says.. On some trains I notice it doesn't always come when it says but it's usually by 1-2 minutes behind/ahead of schedule. Now this is obviously not the fault of the app, but the delays that people cause from holding doors open on the train. I take the D/N/Q/B often and those pretty much come when they say they will.

Finally Updated!. This has always been the best transit app for subway arrival times. I used it religiously but then stopped because it stopped being updated with the 7 extension, Second Av Subway and the return of the W. I had deleted it a while ago because it was so outdated until my friend just showed me that it was finally updated. Now let’s please keep this up to date! Thank you!

So helpful!. I use this app every morning when I have to catch the subway to work.

App closing instantly. Love this app, but all of a sudden, every time I try to launch it, it closes instantly. Please advise

Flawless. I could not be happier with this purchase! This app works as it's supposed to - it provides times, the subway map, notifications of train delays, and perhaps my favorite feature, the ability to see the stops of each of the subway train. This feature is probably the most useful because you can always check to see which stops the different lines are running - for example an F train delay at Delancey St. would result in that station being grayed for the purpose of understanding that the F train will not stop there on a particular day. Ignore the comments on how the train schedules are never accurate ... give me a break! Since when have NYC buses and trains ever run on their schedule? Never, that's when.

If you live in NYC, you need this.. This app is incredibly useful. Have you ever ridden the L train and really enjoyed seeing when the next train was coming on the electric board? That's exactly what this app does, for every train! Not to mention it's incredibly well designed. Subways nearby is awesome, don't have to muck around finding my train/line - one click and I know when the next train is coming. Awesome. Download it!

No upcoming schedule. The best feature seems to be gone. I used this app religiously to figure out subway schedules in advance. Now there is no option to change your departure time.

Ugly UI changes. Screens have weird transition effects that strain the eye. It looks as if the transitions are broken as one screen overlaps the other and for a second both screens can be seen one on top of the other before the previous screen disappears. The new dark blue on black menu options are also an eye sore. The only thing that looks better is the app icon. As other reviewers have mentioned, you can no longer choose a departure time. I never used this feature before because I also found it weird that you can only view future times on a specific line and not for an entire station in the old app. If they bring back the ability to choose a time, they should have for a specific line and also after clicking the map and selecting a specific station to see all trains.

Not awful, but not as advertised.. Location services worked once - the first time I used the app. Now it always opens and returns to that location. Have to use the map, which makes it a bit clumsy to use on the run. Not accurate when most needed, after 8 pm, when one wants to judge whether or not one should descend the subway stairs, or flag a cab. Pretty expensive app to have such low function - I hope the developers will improve performance soon - I'll look for updates. Great concept, and when the glitches are gone it will be worth the money.

Bring back the CLOCK!. The update is good BUT it failed to bring back the clock in the upper right corner. I used and depended on that clock entirely. Please, please reinstate it. I work for Transit and I use it everyday in my travels to and from work. And now that it’s gone, it’s difficult to see ahead as to what trains to use

Hasn’t worked in days. I have an iPhone X app keeps crashing.

Extremely useable and well-designed. I can't rave about this app enough. During many late-night confused times underground attempting to find the right train home, NextStop helped so much and saved me a lot of worrying. I also love that, under the Lines section, it'll tell you to which stations each line is running at the time when you're checking. The map is extraordinarily handy as well!

Save your money. I bought this app because I thought it would be useful to have the arrival time for my train ahead of time. It was a waste of money. First, this app is often inaccurate. Second, the nyc subway app (which is free) also gives the arrival times for trains. It is also more accurate and will allow you to see the arrival times for all trains at a particular station as well as get directions from a station to your final destination. This app only shows you the arrival time for the next train and only one train line at a time. If you're at Times Square and want to take the next train out, you have to pick the train line and then Times Square to see the arrival time and then repeat the process for each train. On the other hand, the free nyc subway app will show you all the trains at Times Square and all the arrival times on one screen which makes it soooo much easier to figure out which train to take. Bottom line, save your money and get the free (better) app.

Need to update Hudson Yards, but train clock issue is MTA domain, not this app. I think people who are writing these reviews need to be educated as to why we don't yet have time clocks on the letter trains. Generally, off peak hours - MTA's schedule is correct for lettered trains except L and including 7 when in good service. This app should update for Hudson Yards (was about to give a 4 rating for that but want to counterbalance all of the low ratings that are clueless as to the issues regarding subway time clocks) but for the most part it's a good app. Forgot what I paid for it. Subway time does not have time tables for the lettered trains and this app does

W Train Missing. I would give 5 stars if this app included the W train. I used to love using this app.

Nirvana Has Arrived. I have more than a few subway apps. None are as beautiful AND functional as NextStop. The schedule is useful though to hear some people complain they can be off. D'uh?! EVERYTHING is gonna get off during rush hour, rain storms, terrorist attacks etc. That's probably why the developer wisely included the ability to receive and monitor alerts, which is the last thing one should do going out the door. On my iPhone 4 the display is simply stunning. Good job. 5 well-earned stars! Amendment: I'd like to see a future version include express buses to and from Manhattan. I can understand local bus lines are too voluminous. But express service can be VERY useful. As is this app is enough to make me regret being a retiree. Glad to have it whenever I have to move around the city.

Just what I was looking for!. I love this app! Thank you so much! Two tiny glitches: - on my iPod touch 2G the Favorites tab shows a black screen after unlocking. - sometimes the map view still doesn't register a tap on a station, (also the delay between the tap and the station view sometimes leads to think it didn't register it)

Surprisingly Accurate, Great Layout. The new real time subway schedule is surprisingly accurate and the user interface is easy to navigate. They recently fixed a bug that caused location services to be running in the background. The favorite lines for certain days/time periods is especially handy when looking for a quick update.

Miss the old version. Only because before i could put a certain time and it would tell me what time my train would come 30 mins before time i miss that out that ? Mark back to the time please PLEASE‼️

Asking for more money?. I paid for this apps YEARS AGO and now you update it and make me pay again to remove ads?

Finally updated!. Looks like a whole new app! Only minor inconvenience is how to make and edit favorites. I enjoyed organizing them manualy using the 'edit' page on the favorite tab rather than the alphanumeric system being used now.

Enough, and free!. Commendable free application. It shows me everything I need to know about traveling subways. Only improvement needed is separation of directions where the trains are bound in the lines section as one reviewer has pointed out. But I guess you can always tell if you know this system a little bit. For a total newbie, it might take a while. It's free. And it is up to date. I don't care about favorites section.

Very helpful. I use this app a lot to check for any changes or delays and find it to be more informative than google. Also while underground without service it's easy to see routes and stops on the map or train stops list. I tend to use it less for estimated wait times, as it's impossible to get an accurate read on the letter trains and I don't often take the numbered ones. I do wish it was maintained more and reflected new routes or additional stops added to the system since they came out.

Easily the most useful app on my phone. I've had this app since my iPhone 4 (currently have a 6) and its a shame that I've just gotten around to review this awesome app. I look like a wizard whenever I'm with someone and I can predict when the train is coming because of this app. Arrival times are 95% accurate which is very impressive given how inconsistent the subways are. Highly recommend!

You're an idiot if you think your train is always going to show up on time. I'm pretty sure a lot of people don't understand that this app is providing you the time the next subway will arrive based on the MTA's schedule - yes the MTA actually has a schedule. The fact that there will be plenty occasions that your subway doesn't show up when the app says so is not the fault of the app. It's the fault of the MTA - big surprise right? When does the MTA do anything wrong? That being said, it's nice to see the subway schedule but you can't completely rely on the train being on time. Also, the alerts and advisories section is extremely helpful. Unfortunately you need to have reception to receive those alerts

Scrolling not working. On the alert and changes tab, the text below the fold can’t be seen because you cannot scroll. Been like this for over a year.

Not accurate as it used to be.. I used to use this app everyday for individual train. Now, it’s not accurately displayed. Sometimes it will say there is a train arriving xx time at a station but when I would get there there are no trains. It displays trains even tho there are planned work for that specific train. Few times gave me incorrect information. There are better and accurate apps for the subway on the App Store.

Favorites Tool not working. I love this app and was very happy to see its updated version after 3 or 4 years! However, I’ve noticed that the favorites for my commutes were deleted once I updated. I’ve tried to add them following the instructions and it noted “your favorite has been added”. But nothing is in the favorites. Please fix this problem. Thank you!

Best app for subway riders!!. Even though the schedule is a little off sometimes. Its bound to happen because if all kinds of delays. But who cares! You can use this app in the subway while your waiting for the train to come or on the train to look at the different stops or the map. Very useful and helpful! No internet needed which is very awesome since you can never get reception under ground. 

MUST HAVE!!!!. If you live in NYC you should know how much we love our MTA! This app made my life easier on many occasions. It has ETA for trains - and it's spot on and it doesn't even matter if you have service or not - it will still give you the info you need. All the delay alerts were always accurate. Also you can see each and every stop for any line AND on top of it, it'll show you which stopped will be skipped due to whatever circumstances. Love it!!! Thanks guys!!!

Still missing the W. Thanks for finally updating this. It is for the cleanest best app. Still missing W train times though. Is that in the works?

Not bad but glitches. Overall I'm pretty satisfied with the app but there is a glitch with the G train (I know there's a joke in there somewhere...) in all seriousness though, every time I click on a G train stop on the map, instead of taking me to the screen it should, the app either doesn't respond or will shut down. Give the poor G train some love and you'll have all five stars from me

Time Button removal. As the other reviews state, I was a big user of the future time feature, which has since been removed. This feature allowed me to see if a transfer train would be arriving around the same time as the current train I was on. Since that feature has been removed this app has become just the same as all the other Transit time apps. If we could at least get a reason or explanation as to the Future Time features removal, or an alternate way to achieve the same functionality, I would consider reevaluating my current rating of the app. But until then...

New update kills manual time check for trains. While the new update looks refreshing, it effectively killed the ability to look up the arrival of future trains. Before, you were able to choose any train line and any station and choose a time interval for which you wanted to check for the departure time for a specific train from a specific station. Now, the app will only show the next train scheduled to depart, with no option of checking any future departure times. PLEASE FIX, it was one of the things I commonly used this app for!

Very good but can be better. Another feature should be added where you can customize the actual days and hours instead of just generally morning, afternoon, evening, night. Cause sometimes you make a commute only from 8 am and want no notifications before that time or after a certain time or your commute is only monday-thursday. It would be the notifications less annoying

Sweet. Luckily I live 2 blocks away from the subway, so this app is real useful, and it's accurate, if the train says 10 min. until arrival I toast a bagel, put some cream cheese on and head out the door. Doesn't sound extremely important but it could be the difference between having a good/bad day or being late for work. have been using this for almost 3 years now and never had a problem.

Train Schedule Missing. The app used to have a list of upcoming train times and it’s no longer there, taking away the option to plan ahead. This is a much needed feature, please add it back, thanks!

Great App. It's a great app to have, you can see the delays and changes which helps in avoiding any inconvenience. It also lists stops on each line. I use the nearby function and find it very useful to know what time the trains are arriving. It used to be off by a minute of more but it's been great for the last few months. Plus you have the subway map, which allows you to select each stop and check the timing there as well. 👍🏽

Used to be a great app! Needs updating!. I've used Next Stop for at least five years and it was accurate to the T with the numbered MTA lines. I've only stayed on iOS 10 because of NextStop. Unfortunately, it seized to offer realtime train arrivals just in the last few weeks. The last update was almost 3 years ago. I wish the developers updated it and the app worked as it used to.

By far the most versatile NYC subway app. This little jewel has been there for me every time I've been late or feeling like I had no idea whether I was going tone late, or just planning out my day for the least travel time. I love that it doesn't need to work on wifi or 3G, really useful in the subway to plan your next transfer. As far as I've experienced, the times are pretty accurate, with some small exceptions. But for a free app with no ads, this is a must buy for anyone commuting in NYC.

Changed app. Please please bring the future train times option back! I commute from Brooklyn to Manhattan. The trains run less frequently in Brooklyn and the future train times were everything! I relied on them every day, especially when leaving for work super early or planning clients for the next day.

Not an accurate app. I'm a New Yorker and I ride the subway 6 days a week. This app goes off the PAPER schedule and is not updated in REALTIME. What does this mean? It means you don't get live info. This app does show you alerts and advisories, but does not take them into account on the schedule. For example, if there is construction on the 1 train forcing it to make express stops, this app will still show times the train should be there, however there is no service. Also, if a passenger gets sick, this app doesn't show it. In reality, this would delay service, but the app runs on the paper schedule so no changes are made. Finally, if you know ANYTHING about the subway system, you know that it never runs on time like the paper schedule says. There are always problems, but this app take non of it into account. Look for an app that runs on live time for the best updates.

Out of date. This was a decent app but hasn’t been updated in two years so doesn’t have the W and changes along that line.

My go-to app. I use this every day to check for delays before I walk to the subway. There are many other apps and web sites that do the same thing, but this one seems to work the best. Thanks, developers!

Wonderfully accurate. Love Love Love this app. Has absolutely everything you could ask for on top of the updates. My only regret is I've just moved out of NYC and won't have the pleasure of using it on a regular basis. Will definitely recommend to hometown Pals!!

Works better than I expected. The app gives estimated times even without cellular services. It maybe off a minute or two, which is fine because they are tons of things that causes train delays.

A must have app for every new Yorker. Upon installing this app, please review it describing how amazing it is to increase the popularity of this app so that it can be further improved. Many aesthetic parts of this app could use some work although it's darn near perfect as is

Amazing!. This is the best thing ever!!! Always on point. The only time it's off is when the MTA is off. I find myself running to the station when I see my train is coming in three minutes. Bc of this. I make it!!!! Love you next stop. Being in a cousin called next stop bus!!

Ok ok. The design of the app is great..feels like something MTA would do..of course like most app this ain't ready for iPhone 4 and retina display I know this app is new so should we expect more?? Bus Times and street maps(connected by google of course) would be a great feature to include in the next update. PLEASE UPDATE OFTEN AND YOU WILL SEE THE SUCCESS!! that's all we ask for in NY WINNERS!! PS: CAN WE GET A BETTER ICON FOR THE APP ALSO? The train icon for the app is a BIG

Great app but it closes to much. It's a great app love how it tell you the time the train is about to pass. It so great because in NY the trains can be full like crazy early I'm the morning and rush hour. the only problem would be the app closes to much it should be fix. but overall it's really helpful :)

Nearly perfect nyc subway app. Excellent app. Nice layout, all the information you want out of a subway app. Good touch with the service notifications push. Only recommendation is that you add the ability to edit favorite stations, instead of just being able to delete them. So good otherwise

Frustrating at times. Pretty good, but frustrating at times. For example, the app may say that C train will be at your stop in 10 minutes and again in 50 minutes. But then if you refresh it 5 minutes later, it will show a C train arriving in 25 minutes as well. Why wouldn't this train just show up in the first place?!

Great app!. 95% accurate! but there are some glitches. The times are off by a couple mins on occasion... I would take my time/or rush to get the the station, only to miss my train, but thats rare..it's a pretty good app and I would recommend it.

Alerts and watch don't work. I got this app specifically for the Apple Watch support. I have a good subway app already but when I get alerts on my watch I can't act on them to see details. Too bad -- I don't get any alerts at all with this one! I set my favorite lines and stations and have all times turned on but nothing happens even when my other app pops up. The watch app also fails to load. The info in the phone app seems accurate but there are better ones out there that will give you a heads up.

My favorite app. I paid .99 for basically a map from the MTA app store. Had this app for two days and it's been very close to accurate. I'd have paid for it. Thanks so much for making it free!

Look no further.. I'm a subway conductor of 6 years and I use this app combined also with itrans, to get me to work everyday all over the system. If the the times of arrivals are off, it's not the apps fault..... it's probably mine! Please don't spit at me. Thanks.

Great app. Very useful.. I really enjoy this app and been having it for over a year. It helps take the guess work out of my morning commute because I have a couple different options of trains I can take in. This app lets me know the quickest route to the office.

Awesome. This app is so incredibly useful. I use it daily to make the last minute commuting decisions that a nontrivial mta ride requires. Although trains deviate from schedules, they're on track about 80% of the time. Constant weekend track work makes the schedules much less accurate outside of working/rush hours

this app doesnt work right. The times were off. The timers just run out when I dont have internet connection. On top of that, it took me a while to find my stop. I had to scroll through the entire list just looking for my stop. I got so frustrated with this app that I just ended up asking for directions along the way. I'm going to guess that I saved a lot of battery power doing this too...

The only MTA app you need in NYC. App is clean, simple and easy to use. For anyone looking for the next train, this is your answer. I would like a few more options on the favorites tab to be able to select both weekday and weekend plus have times associated and visual with morning, afternoon, evening, etc. Great work.

Force Close. Just downloaded the app hoping the force close thing was fix, but the second day of using it... It started to force close immediately and the app becomes quite useless. Annoying since I was willing to pay for this app. Though when it does work the times are quite accurate and it becomes very helpful.

Keeps crashing!!. Even after the last deployment to fix a bugs that causes the app to crash in certain wifi environment (or lack of wifi) the app continues to crash upon launch. Besides that, it is a good app to have. Please just make it work properly. Thanks

Very useful.... Was just in NYC over the weekend and this app helped tremendously... Was able to look-up local stations, find which trains stop at which locations, and find arriving trains... Definitely will use this app next time in NYC... A+++

Best Subway app. I love this app! Shows times for each line (as accurately as it can based on crappy MTA), but more importantly it shows delays and schedule changes, which really saves me a lot of time and trouble. You can even designate your favorite stops so the home page will show scheduled times!

My go-to app on the subway. I have this on my iPhone and use it regularly. Maps help me navigate. Time schedules for the wait, and it is easy to use, my first year in New York has been easier because of this app,

Great app. This app is pretty accurate to within a minute or two! Super useful since I live about a 10 min walk from the subway so I know if I need to run to catch the next train!

Great idea, but not always reliable. The idea of this app is great. Knowing when the next train I need will arrive has definitely been helpful, but the app sometimes crashes immediately upon launching. Of course, it's only when I really need the info. Not quite reliable enough to depend on, unfortunately.

Great app w/1 complaint. I love the times on this app, pretty accurate (those of you complaining need to point fingers at straphangers holding doors). My only complaint is that even when I am a block or two away from the train station, it still does not locate the nearest train to me. That is a definite downer. Hope you guys can fix that little bug!

Subway app worked great for me.. I was visiting NYC and downloaded app while sitting in Battery Park. It saved me a long walk back to Times Square to get my car. Information in app was easy to access and use.

Has become less reliable over the years. I’ve had this app for at least four years now, and it used to be fairly accurate in terms of train times, etc., but that has gotten less accurate as time has passed. It still seems to have good info as far as changes and delays, but what is most unforgivable to me is the fact that the Q line extension was completed more than a year ago and the map still hasn’t been updated in this app.

A new yorkers dream. Near perfect!. This app deserves a standing ovation. If you need a subway app this is without a doubt the best one. I have true them all. This one works. No advertisements. Looks classy. My friends are jealous and it's sexy!! Improvements I could think of though are to make it easier to edit my favorites. And to let me have weekend modes for my favorites. Kudos!! Bravo!!

Amazingly useful.. A reference that every subway rider should have. Regularly keeps me from having to run to the station or cursing because I just missed a train.

pure awesomeness. I recently downloaded like 6 apps for helping me taking subways in NYC. They all hv e different features, but NextStop is astonishingly accurate. Now I not only know what train to take, but also I know when it arrives.

By far the best subway app. I've loved and recommended NextStop for years. The addition of real-time schedules (for the limited # of lines where MTA has it) makes it even better, and the colored dots make it clear whether or not the times are real-time without being obtrusive. Highly recommended.

Great app!. This is very convenient, the times are accurate and the map is extremely useful. I recommend it to all of my friends visiting NYC! Definitely worth downloading.

AWESOME. I absolutely love this app. I use it every time I go to work to see which route to take that day. The train arrival times are pretty accurate. I love how it has the map right there and how it very organized. It tells you when there are delays on the train. Highly recommend this app 👍

More useful than MTA's app with real time updates. The signal system in NYC supports real time updates only on 1-7 lines. Great to see NextStop including real time updates, has a simple clean interface , and standard schedules for other trains.

Useful but what happened?. It's starting to become extremely inaccurate out of the blue. For almost a month, it's just flaking on transit times. Also, WHERE ARE THE PUSH NOTIFICATIONS!? They just stopped happening. This app used to be really useful and helpful. For being a FREE APP, I wish they would keep their reputation over their competition (aka iTrans) and fix this app ASAP!

Toss a coin - it'd be more accurate. Of the 20- something occasions in which I tested this app 100% (!!) were inaccurate - most of them egregiously. Then again, 100% had a gray dot (denoting questionable accuracy). Interestingly, there was no difference in accuracy between stations that have Internet access and those who don't. Ask the person next to you in the platform to guess a number from 1-20 and you'd get more or less the same accuracy re number of minutes to next train.

Love this app. This app is what sealed the deal for getting my IPhone. The only thing thy would be great is to be able to see all trains at a particular station without having to add it to your favorites. But still love it.

NEED TO UPDATE SUBWAY LINES. The 7 train now goes to 34th and 11th avenue and it is not updated on the app. Also, maybe add a station to station travel option so people can know how long it will take to get to and from. Otherwise, it is very helpful and mostly accurate

First time in NYC. Great app for a first time visit to NYC! It takes a minute to learn how the trans system works but once you do, this app is a must have! Especially in conjunction with the Google map app on the iPhone. I highly recommend this app for visitors, and I can see how it would be clutch for a resident as well.

Use all the time. Best part is seeing how long it'll take to get from one station to another. Would make it 5 star if it showed next train and train after that so I can tell how frequently trains are running at that time. Otherwise really useful!

Well-written, but useless. This is a fantastic idea. Having countdowns to the next train on each line you select would take the guesswork out of transfers when you have a choice of lines. If only the arrival times were right. THEY ARE NOT. I'm guessing this is not even the app developers' fault. If they're going off the published train schedule, the times may be absolutely right, but still have no relevance to the phypsical world.

Works great.. First time I installed it, it worked on the phone but not in the Watch. I wrote customer service and they wrote me back right away. Very helpful suggestions and it now works great. (Just had to delete from phone and reinstall it)

Great app!. Everything I need to find my way back from random places in Brooklyn or Queens. Schedule isn't reliable, but it helps to know generally how long until the train. Map works in the subway without service.

Love it. I definitely love this app. It's reliable and doesn't need Internet connection once underground. I can look up the schedule for any train. It's usually on time give or take a few minutes but that's not an issue for me. Must have!

Simple but very useful!. I love this App! It hasn’t been updated in a while and I wish it would be. It’s simple let’s you see if your train is coming and whether you have to run to make that connection. love it!

Update needed. App works pretty much as expected. For those complaining about the times being incorrect the only lines with real time tracking are 4,5,6 the others are based on the MTA schedule and the trains are usually late. However this app doesn't account for the Recent expansion of the 7 to Hudson Yards, or the addition of the W to the Broadway line.

Very Helpful. Great app for the most part, fairly accurate arrival times, and the changes and delays come in handy. The app used to send notifications to my phone when my "favorite" routes had delays, but doesn't anymore. It was incredibly useful, I haven't changed any settings on my phone so it could be a problem with the actual app. Otherwise, it's an app worth having.

Great app saves time. It works well. But have no real use for as it I have to wait for the train, which is usually less 7 min. I would like this app more if it let me select a station and send notifications for me in the morning with train schedule. So that I don't have to wait in the stations or not miss a train.

Clock not accurate. I don't know how this all works but I take the 2/3 train every morning and this clock is never accurate. I'm talking about at least 2 minutes off. Even after work at Penn Station, the ties don't match up to the times in the station. It's accurate for some other lines but not the one I use the most. Any reason for that? Would be the best app if it was accurate. Especially in the absurd summer heat.

Could be better but still great. I really like this app; it shows the scheduled times that the trains are supposed to arrive and what lines are at each station. Sadly it’s not real time because NYC hasn’t implemented that capability but it’s still really helpful. I wish they would offer directions between two places like iTrans NYC.
