Pray Now. I really appreciate this Application and find it to be a daily blessing, It is a pleasure to read and to have at ones finger tips these wrods of Grace and encouragement. I know many more would use it if it were not for the price. One complaint that I have is and it seem to only make sense would be the availability to copy pieces of texts and place them in emails or other applications. I can understand if it was a copyright rule, but that doesn't make much sense when we are quoting Martin Luther. And perhaps more complicated for the author of the program would be to link the scripture reference to actual text. That would not be necessary if the copy and paste feature was available. PLEASE CONSIDER THIS. Bessings on your ministry Peace t

Please add confessions reading text. This app is great! Thank you. Please add text from Book of Concord to daily readings.

Spiritual Wealth Meets iPhone Usability. If you're looking for a rich devotional treasure that's easy to use and able to fit in your pocket, then "PrayNow" by Concordia Publishing House is for you. In "PrayNow" the spiritual wealth of Treasury of Daily Prayer (CPH) meets the ease of use and portability of iPhone (and, presumably, iPad). Orders of prayer, all of the Psalms, Scripture readings appointed for each day of the year, and edifying devotional writings are readily available. Just open the app and the day's readings are right there, or you can easily search for other readings. An entire year's prayer book in your palm and at your fingertips for such a low cost - just can't beat it!

This iPhone just keeps getting more useful. I've used Treasury of Daily Prayer since it came out. Frequently business travel has made it easy to make excuses to not take time daily, but this will make it much easier. I do wish the app contained the "Daily Prayers for Individuals and Families". Also a really cool update would be to insert the days readings and prayers into the different orders of prayer in the appropriate places so you could go straight through without moving back and forth. I don't know how difficult that would be to program. If you are considering purchasing this app I recommend it. The Treasury of Daily Prayer has been of great use in my spritual growth and PrayNow will only increase my use of this great resource.

Glad I finally found this app!. I had been looking for this app under the name, “Treasury of Daily Prayer”. I would have given it a 5 star rating but it doesn’t have the feature where it can be read out loud (audio). I read this aloud to my family and it’s a lot of reading for someone who gets tongue tied.

Absolutely wonderful!. I'm giving 5 stars because I love it! However, being able to easily access the daily readings from the liturgy is needed. Right now it takes too many steps. Also a bug in text position switching from landscape to portrait-no biggie. Highly recommended, while priced above the typical crapware in this category, it is a bargain for real quality content!

Treasury of Daily Prayer. I used to use the “Treasury of Daily Prayer” which is what this app creates in a electronic form. Makes it easier during lent since you don’t have to remember what week in lent you are it does it for you. It also includes the proper Saint days with their writings and prayers. Excellent devotional

Can you please implement Split screen for iPads?. Can you please implement Split screen for iPads?

Super Convenient. Excellent layout, easy to read. I've been waiting for this app as I didn't want to have to purchase the Kindle version. Great for travel and reading in bed when you don't want to carry a big book around. Best daily prayer book around!

Wonderful Devotional App. I think this app is tremendous in its variety of services available and its note taking aspect for the readings. It is very comparable to the Treasury of Daily Prayer from CPH and is much easier to carry and access this way. Way to Go Concordia!

Great biblical devotional. This has become an essential part of my life. This couldn’t be better! Providing a bible readings and then readings from the church fathers. Nice work with this app!!

Yes, It *Is* Lutheran!. PrayNow is the latest in a continuing series of stellar offerings from CPH, both in print and in new media, and for that I'm very thankful. And, PrayNow is most certainly Lutheran! It is a wonderful and edifying slimming down of the Treasury of Daily Prayer into app form. Confessional Lutheranism is historical, reaching back not only to the Reformation Fathers, but also to the Early Church and Apostolic Fathers. Good practice and good teaching are just that -- good. To carelessly misuse labels, and lob out ill-informed opinions as fact, is neither good nor beneficial. The only real nit I can pick with PrayNow is that it isn't optimized for the iPad. It's quite usable as a 1x/2x iPhone app on the iPad, but it would be so much nicer to have it as a native/universal app that takes full advantage of what the iPad offers.

Wish air print was available. I love this application. I would rate 5 stars if I was able to print.

Great app!!!. I love using this app!!! I do wish the “Seasonal Invitatories, Antiphons, and Responsories” could also be added into Matins and Vespers. And just because I am a musician, it would also be nice to have the music along with the music to the hymns Even if it was an extra cost.

Thanks, CPH! A Great Resource.. CPH did a great job on this app. (I hope more are coming!) I've been a Daily Lectionary reader for some time now. I used to get my readings from the Lutheran Service Book. That's always been a great way to do a morning devotion... NOW I have the PrayNow app, which gives me my daily readings plus so much more. Definitely a 4-star app for any Lutheran, its a bit pricey but worth it to me. The only thing I'm missing is a midi or mp3 for the hymns, and the ability to copy/paste a bit of Scripture into my Twitter tweets or Facebook. Keep up the good work, CPH!

Use it everyday. App doesn't need updating. It does everything it's supposed to just fine. It's the absolute easiest way to get your daily devotion in. Bible readings, hymn verse, prayer, and writing all in one spot in my pocket

Terrific app. I cherish this app. Since buying it at a very reasonable price I use it everyday following the lectionary. I like the option to have my psalms pointed. I am thrilled with the option for the chant tones and provision of sound with them! The hymn tune should be added with each hymn in the same way. What a tremendous way to have the text imbedded in my heart for the day. I also like additional readings from the church fathers. The amount of daily reading provided is quite reasonable to accomplish. I work full time and can do this. I don’t routinely use the service sections but am glad to have them included it is so wonderful to follow the office with little flipping around. Thanks CPH, you’re on the right track with this app!

Awesome, music would be nice. This is a great app, very convenient, makes TDP great on the go (no page turning). I wish there was musical notes and/or a MIDI file associated with the psalms and the hymns, that would make it complete. Well done CPH!

Helpful app!. As a busy stay-at-home mom, I was looking for a way to make following the lectionary a little bit easier in our daily routine. I enjoy the details included. The only tweak I would suggest is making the scripture “playable” so that we can listen and/or read. I like this function because I find that sometimes I need to hear the Gospel vs being in my own head while reading it. Nonetheless, this is an app that I am grateful to have found and will recommend highly to others!

Great Value. Buy this in hardcopy and you are paying at least $40. Wonderful portability - you don't have to lug around that rather sizeable tome. It's all on my iPhone, which I bring with me anyway. The main thing I would do to improve the product would be to insert the readings/prayers into the selected liturgy, or to be able to swipe sideways back and forth between the readings and the liturgies.

Please renovate and optimize this app. Wonderful app, though I wish it could receive an update. It does what you need, but it is not the prettiest app. Surely CPH could give it a User Interface overhaul?

Great but.... I bought the Treasury of Daily Prayer and was thrilled when PrayNow came out. However now CPH has expanded their repertoire by adding 3 devotional books tied to the lectionary, which is what TDP uses. Why not have these devotional resources as in-app add-ons for an additional fee for those who want them? That would allow PrayNow to truly be an all-in-one devotional resource. Edit: Also CPH has now added new psalm tones to the existing 8. Why not add them to the app? Edit 2: On the iPad, when using orders of daily prayers and rotating the tablet, it changes the display to Today's Readings.

Second: Best Devotional App available!. Have been using the IPad App for over a week. It is great for every day, travel, and when you just cannot use the large book. It's all right there. Changing to the Verdana font and magnifying the text makes reading very easy and clear. I have no complaints and love this IPad app given to us by Concordia Publishing House.

Love this app!. This app is simply delightful! The only thing I would add is a link to the suggested reading in the Book of Concord. Thanks CPH!

App is okay but..... I don’t know why I can not cut and paste to share with others. Is it an App bug? If you know why please let me know. Thank you.

Marvelous Resource!. This App is a blessing which I enjoy everyday, and which points me to further reading by the authors of the daily "Writing". I often have to search extensively for the source of the text whose author is cited (e.g., Church fathers, reformers, later commentators). It would be most helpful to have the source of each "Writing" be identified to facilitate further reading - just as you do when citing Scripture and books from the Book of Concord. Thank you for the wonderful blessing of this App. Jim MacGregor

Great Companion to the Excellent Printed Treasury of Daily Prayer (or use it solo). Using the Treasury of Daily Prayer (TDP) now for sometime, this app gives an accessible and rather complete digital version of TDP to go along with me wherever my iPhone & I go. It is an excellent alternative to the TDP printed copy when on the road or when you find your normal devotional time gets altered. Other times I just prefer to read on the iPhone (for instance when lights are already out for evening). The daily content is identical to TDP and lives locally on your device (unlike many of the Bible apps). There are many other confessional Lutheran related readings as well, including short services, Psalms, Canticles, and prayers which add to the value and rich quality of the Christ-centered resources provided here. I do hope the developers continue to add additional TDP content to PrayNow in the future, but that they also consider providing other Cross-focused iPhone/mobile experiences to allow the Word to be proclaimed far into the future of our digital age. The Holy Sprint works through many things, including iOS apps!

Daily prayer and devotions. This app is a great tool for providing structure and support to your daily devotion and prayer life. There are several formats that can be used, from a structured worship setting, to a more pared down daily readings and devotion. The ability to add personal notes and thought to the readings is nice. The formatting is well done, pleasant to read and adjustable. The ability to insert the daily readings into the various "service" orders is nice. What would it take to give this app 5 stars? The ability to add in a personal prayer list. I find it distracting to have to open another app to access my other prayer requests and reminders. It would also be nice if the references to the canticles, etc. in the orders of service were hyperlinked, rather than having to "flip" back and forth to go read them, and then return to the service.

Prayerfully. I love this app. It’s so easy to get up and get into God’s word, from anywhere. I especially like the Writings after the word. I would give it five stars if it had a brief opening prayer as well.

Great resource, but priced a little high. It's nice having all the daily readings in one app, but I expected a little more for $8.99. Great app, but I advise dropping the price. There are other apps, for free, which have the whole Bible, daily readings and many more resources. So... add a little more to this app or drop the price. But overall, it's very good.

Great App. This app is extremely handy when you forget your copy of TDP. It has nifty features like being able to turn psalm pointing on and off, and a reversed night version that displays white text against a black background. Another home run for Concordia.

Good app, but hard to find. Daily prayer following Lutheran liturgy based on the LCMS Treasury of Daily Prayer - a wonderful idea and it is simple to use. Why not rename the app Treasury of Daily Prayer, or Lutheran Daily Prayer, or something more reflective of what it actually is? I enjoy using it and am so glad I found it, but it took me far longer than it should have to find. While at it, change the skin of the app. The picture of the praying hands and big block letters PRAY NOW looks like something designed by my grandmother in 1989. Unappealing to anyone under 60.

This is great!. I'm 24 and have really rediscovered some incredible meat for my devotional life with this app. I love it! My only recommendation would be to integrate the actual liturgical music into the app. It would be so cool to be hearing those hymns, litanies, chants, and orders! But all in all, a RESOUNDING 5 stars!

Good app needing an update.. This app is fantastic but it does not send push notifications about times to pray hours. I'd also like to see some additional reading resources put in and not just a "suggested reading" heading.

Food for the soul. It's great to have this rich devotional resource available for the IPhone family -- at a fraction of the price of printed or Kindle editions. Well-thought out; the calendar format makes it simple to find the daily basics, while orders of service, prayers, psalms and canticles are easily accessible. Kudos to CPH on the idea and the execution!

Fantastic!. I love this app already. I have fibromyalgia and sometimes it's difficult to be in bed with the large ToDP. This app gives me the meat and potatoes that I need to keep up with an active prayer life. Thanks so much to CPH!

No longer works. No longer works on iPad after 11.2.2 update

Great App!- could use an update.. This app is quite helpful to those who follow the daily prayer of the LCMS Treasury of Daily Prayer (TDP). All the readings, hymn suggestions, collects, etc are presented for each day upon opening. You can access any date in the year as well. There is an option to include whichever parts into the order of service which is awesome. I use this app with my hymnal and Bible just to have the readings on hand to look up. One of the few things I wish were included are the daily propers such as the seasonal invitatories and responsories. I enjoy changing them with the church calendar.

Peace at the last. This version has not had any crashes for me and is very stable. I have come to rely on this fantastic app for my daily devotions. I particularly like how you can choose to put the daily readings, prays and hymns into the short order of services. I have this app on both by iPhone and iPad and find it my most used app of all the many apps I have. I highly recommend it. The short order of services may seem old fashioned to some, but for me they are more modern than the ones I grew up with. Every day there is a different old and new testament verse. Providing particular insight is the readings from various pillars of the church which elaborate on the theme in the daily passages.

I LOVE this app!. Thank you CPH for this app!! I love how easy it is to you and it keeps me in the word! This is awesome!!!

Fasting?. It would be nice if there were some more guidance for fasting. I believe this is very important for our faith and need more information and guidance. Other than this……it's awesome!

Add sepia as a reading option. I use this app morning and evening. However, I would love to have a sepia option in addition to night mode. In early morning the regular screen is more than I want, but I don’t really like the night mode. I use sepia for my ESV app and it’s easier on the eyes and much more attractive. Hope you make this an option soon!

Awesome content, a bit buggy. 3.1.6 introduces support for the iPad Pro 12.9". However, it doesn't gain us much since for some reason the text display is only using the upper two-thirds of the screen. The bottom third is just blank. ----- The content in this app is essentially the same as the excellent Treasury of Daily Prayer, minus a few parts here and there. It keeps track of the calendar and church year for you, and can even display inline propers and readings in a Matins, Vespers, and Compline prayer service. However, it occasonally crashes on 4.3, and when it does you can't get it to start again unless you change the date on your device, or wait until the next day.

Please develop further when feasible. I am new to Lutheranism and purchased this app because my new Pastor uses it. However, because I more love listening to the weekday morning and evening office? and subsequent morning program on KFUO, Oratio, which together incorporate sung prayers, scripture, commentary, creeds and hymns, it would be great to find an app that integrates with that; or on its own prays with audio through the included Daily Office, with all components also written out (like the scriptures here - thanks for the ESV) and with the ability to copy any such text into a daily prayer journal along with additional personal notes and prayer. It would be such a blessing if Pray Now would develop these features, integrated with the Daily Office, perhaps collaborating with KFUO or other Lutheran media. Thanks for considering it as a future goal. God bless you.

Music, please!. I really like the app, and my family uses it daily. We would like it even more if audio files were available to play accompaniment for the musical elements, particularly Matins, Vespers and Compline. Would also be nice to include the actual daily readings for The Book of Concord, but then this app would have everything!

Handy, Biblical, Relevant, Sacred. This will come in handy when mom and dad call to read scriptures and pray together with me. As dad endures the effects of the cancer that's killing him, the order of compline that repeats Jesus' faith-filled words from the cross to His Father, "Into Your hands I commend my spirit" will bring much spiritual comfort in Christ to each of us.

Great Resource. Have the book version & the app. This app is the whole $40 book (Treasury of Daily Prayer) for $8.99! And it is more convenient then carrying around a large book. I always have my phone.

Great content, great presentation!. PrayNow 3.1.6 is a solid version. I like seeing night mode restored to the app. The dynamic calendar still knocks my socks off. There is no better way to access the fantastic content of "Treasury of Daily Prayer" than through this app.

Klutzy Scrolling. The app only scrolls horizontally (and no pagination). PrayvNow really needs full pagination or the ability to scroll vertically. The horizontal scrolling without pagination makes it incredibly awkward to use and truly detracts from the its usefulness. I have been using Pray Now for many years patiently waiting for CPH to update it to make it more user friendly. If anyone from CPH reads these reviews, it is past time to update and fix this otherwise outstanding program.

Works Great - Not Sure Why Some People are Reporting Crashes. I've read a couple comments reporting that the app crashes, not sure what people are talking about. I'm running PrayNow on my iPhone 4 and my iPad 1 and iPad 2 without any issues, at all, and I'm running the latest version of iOS on all my devices. Sure would be nice if anyone saying they are experiencing crashes would contact the App's publisher to let them know precisely what's going on, rather than posting vague comments on Apple's iTune's site. I checked with the publisher, Concordia Publishing House, and they say that they are not able to replicate any crashes, PrayNow is working fine on their iPhones, iPad and iTouches, all of which are running the latest version of iOS and PrayNow, without any problems.

Nice!. For those of us that aren't complete without our iPhones in our hands, this app makes it slick to get the core of the Treasury. Love it, y'all!

Must have. Great program, very inspiring, easy daily read. Makes you long for more.

Wonderful. This is exactly what was looking for. I love that the liturgy is in this app. This is a really neat app and really cuts down on the books I carry around.

Thumbs up. Great devotional app!

Great, but..... I really wished it followed the church year calendar and automatically used the correct year.

Loaded it, love it!. If you like The Treasury of Daily Prayer, you will love this!

This is Lutheran?. Concordia has done all confessional Lutherans a very great service with a string of wonderful publishing events, including an excellent new Book of Concord in several formats, the Lutheran Study Bible, etc.. Paul McCain - editor at Concordia - is doing marvelous job of helping to shepherd along what amounts to being a revival of confessional Lutheranism via his blog and his tireless work at Concordia. Hats off to him. I, for one, am grateful. It's been years since so many wonderful solid Lutheran resources have been available. Okay, here comes the BUT - But the liturgy of the hours? I downloaded this because it is released by Concordia, but I immediately regretted my purchase. I have no taste for this type of high church formal prayer, and I don't know any Lutherans who do. I have never seen Lutherans do this, and I don't expect to see any doing it in the future. In my opinion, it's alien to the Lutheran spiritual outlook. If that seems extreme, you have to admit that it is an unusual practice for Lutherans. Very unusual. This is high church Lutheranism pushing the envelope right off the Reformation table and onto the Roman/Episcopal one. Just what we need, one more "spiritual duty" to add to our to-do list - and an especially tedious and repetitive one to boot. Pietism is a danger in Lutheranism, but so is the other extreme of external formalism - and the liturgy of the hours is formalism at its Roman worst. It's one of those high church activities that can be done so mindlessly that Luther mocked the way he saw priests saying their hours while they berated their household servants. Save your money. One of the slogans of Lutheranism is sola scriptura. Well, skip this and take out your bible if you need something to read during prayer time. If you need more help with prayer, Martin Luther wrote an excellent letter to his barber in which he describes a simple way to pray. It's all the advice you will ever need and it's available free on the internet. If you love these high church activities, by all means go for it. Personally, though, I hope this is not going to be part of the confessional Lutheran revival that catches on. It seems to miss the whole point of the reformation.

LOL. Reading the reviews, I'd like to thank "reviewer" Paul T McCain for "checking with the publisher" about the crash issue some reviewers had reported.

Prayer companion. Essential tool for helping me pray daily.

Prayer answered. This app is the one I use the most. Now it is like having the Treasury of Daily Prayer is with me always.

Pray Now Comatose. July 2016 update made one of my favorite apps USELESS: no menu, no navigation, just the readings for the day. In addition there is now this very wide mysterious black bar taking up a third of the screen on my iPads. Please restore to life this app!

Oremus... Let Us Pray!. CPH has set the bar high with this first app. PrayNow is an excellent mobile devotional app. It is a tool every Lutheran (and every other Christian) should own and use.

Halfway there. This app presents a lot of great content in an easy, accessible way, but it suffers from the same great flaw as the Android version - it does not include any of the musical notation for the liturgies (Matins, Vespers, Compline), only the text. The only thing it includes are the psalm tones. Adding Morning and Evening Prayer would also be welcome.

Great app. This app is very easy to use.

Thank-you. Thank-you CPH!! I hope and pray more aps are on there way.

New version won't open in 3.1.3. I love the application until yesterday when I upgraded to the latest version. Now it crashes as soon as the title screen shows. I am running OS 3.1.3 which was specified in the minimal requirements? Now I have to pray that they can fix this problem soon.

CrashNow. Latest version crashes immediately, is unusable. REVIEW OF 2.0: Version 2.0 adds two awesome features: 1) The readings, Psalms, etc. plug in to the right place in the daily offices (you have to go into the settings to enable this); 2) it’s now a universal binary, meaning if you view it on an iPad, it’s optimized for the iPad without having to buy a separate app. Thank you, CPH! My review of 1.0: CPH has released PrayNow, an application that brings the Treasury of Daily Prayer to your iPhone/iTouch/iPad. It’s a very reasonable $8.99. PrayNow works in a simple, efficient way, minimizing the amount of navigation; it’s as easy to switch back and forth from prayer office to the psalms/readings/collect of the day/etc. as it is in the big book; perhaps easier, because there’s no bookmarking to be done: a simple calendar selection wheel takes you right to the day’s readings. (Someone did the hard work of slogging through the dates for the portion of the book directly tied to the church year; to test it I entered a date in late March, 2011, and it took me to a Saturday in Lent. Excellent work!) For now, there is only Matins/Vespers/Compline; I’m hoping that a future release will add some of the other offices. There are a couple of typos in the Compline office, which I’m sure will also get ironed out in a future release. It works fine on the iPad, too, although it’s not a universal binary. In other words, it isn’t optimized for the iPad; what you get is the iPhone app, in the usual iPhone size, with the option to double it. I almost never do that, because it gets pixelly (is that a word?). In fact, I eschew iPhone apps on my iPad, but I’ll be making an exception in this case. It’s become, along with Logos and Olive Tree, a vital app. I’ll still be using the big book most of the time, but this is perfect for traveling, spare moments that otherwise get spent playing Galcon checking email checking fantasy team scores reading, and for those nights when you collapse into bed without having said your prayers (please tell me I’m not the only one who does that…). Highly recommended for anyone wanting a disciplined life of Prayer and meditation on the Scriptures.

Awesome!. Wonderful resource! Now convenient and easy to use in this superb app...

Choice of Readings. Very nice application. However, our church uses Year C, which is different than this application, so I can't use it to follow the readings during church services. It would be nice if we were offered a choice. Then this would be a "5" rating.

Please restore the menu!. This has been a favorite app until the latest update. There are no longer any menus available, so only the current reading for the day is accessible; all other features including psalm tones are kaput. (This is on an iPhone 4s running iOS 9.3.3.) As soon as functionality returns, I will gladly return to a 5-star rating.

Outstanding. Outstanding. It looks like some people are experiencing crashes, but it is working flawlessly on my iPhone 4and iPad q, both running 4.3.1. As for the app itself, I can't think of a single way to improve it. It's that good.

Phenomenal!. This is one amazing little app! The Treasury packed into the iPhone? Amazing! Now praying the Office while sitting and waiting will be a cinch. Kudos, CPH! You've done it again - and this time in miniature!!!

Praying!. Crash problem gone.

More prayers. Great app! I would like to have more prayers and thanksgivings for various situations. I would also like a way to move directly from one prayer to the next without needing to go back to the menu. Thanks!

We need more apps like this. This is a Great App, that I use every day! We need more apps like this from Concordia. One great update would be to include the readings from the Book of Concord rather than just referencing the pages to read. I would love to have it all in one App. I am certainly looking for an update! No update as of yet. Another feature that is needed is the ability to highlight text in the app for quick reference, I use this app with a morning prayer group, and it would be nice to have the highlight feature.

Bug fixes changed format. Please restore the previous settings. The current Pray Now app is virtually unreadable on an iPad.

Problems since July 22 update. This is one of the apps I use the most, but since the update on July 22, 2016, I have not been able to access the menus and there's a wide black bar on the right side of the screen. Please fix the app! I'm running an iPad Air on iOS 9.

Wonderful App Until.... Since end of July, I have not been able to access it. I tried deleting the app to re-download the app. I couldn't. I thought it might be the iPad's problem so I test-downloaded a free app. No problem. Please help.

Use it everyday. App doesn't need updating. It does everything it's supposed to just fine. It's the absolute easiest way to get your daily devotion in. Bible readings, hymn verse, prayer, and writing all in one spot in my pocket

Pray Now. A bit pricey, but for me, worth the cost. I so appreciate the resource, as one can't always carry devotional books around. Keeps me centered, as any good devotional should.

Fantastic App. This is a wonderful app for your daily devotions from CPH's Treasury of Daily Prayer. Highly recommended!

Doesn’t work when I send to TV. Would be 5-Star if the text wasn’t cut off the bottom when I send to the TV via the cable. This is the only app that has this issue. I end up having to use the android version of this app and send to my ROKU... :-(

Please wait! PrayNow app comments loading...
