Battery killer. This app is battery INTENSIVE. After fighting with the program and trying to get it to read a text file that I converted to epub with Calibre (an excellent program), I finally gave up and began listening to one of the freebies that came with the program. My iTouch was fully charged before trying to listen to the supplied book, but the battery was completely exhausted in less than 2 hours. Also, several attempts were made with converting pdf files and standard txt files to epub and the program just didn't want to play them and often only showed the last page of the document. Even a straight epub from Gutenberg would not work. I regret buying this app.

Love this app. I love this app. I like others here would also like to load my own ePub files. My problem I think is not this app but iTunes recognizing this app on my iTunes account which I'm sure is my own inexperience being I'm a new iPad user. I look forward to figuring this one out. Update..... I figured it out and love it even more now that I can load my own ebooks in this app

r-o-b-t-i-c v-o-i-c-e unbearable. I spent a while downloading and once I had a book downloaded and started to listen I was so disappointed by how bad the audio was. It is worth just downloading a book off of itunes to hear a better voice. This voice is so chopping and robotic that i had to turn it off. I highly recommend not purchasing if you want to hear the audio. It is ok if you just want to read off your iphone or ipad.

Good if you can get used to the voice. It took me a long time to figure out how to import my own .epub files, but after reading the instructions on the vbookz site carefully, especially step 3 about app file sharing which I never knew about, it's a piece of cake and the web is full of free .epub books. The voices are definitely not great and it doesn't run in the background, but given that this is the only game in town, it's a must have application for people who need to/love to listen to books.

Hope it improves. Speech is sloppy at times. I like to read sometimes and have it read to me other times (while commuting). You can't manually turn the page BACK. Not worth the $. Hopefully there will be upgrade soon.

Used to be OK, but now unable to add books and to select other languages.. I have emailed them twice, no answer yet. Update removed the ability to add books. I had previously paid for another language pack (Italian - but there were so few books available) and with the update that was removed with no way to add it back. I'll change it to 4 stars once they fix the problems.

Worst app I have ever purchased.. Electronic voice gets annoying after a while especially after repeating of "underscore" all the time. The presentation on the web is completely different of what you get when purchased.

Good app. To upload your own ebooks you need to connect your Idevice to your computer and open iTunes. There go to your device on the left hand side and select your device. On the top of the screen select apps and on the bottom where it says file sharing you can upload epubs. Works as advertised, all the other reviewers are incompetent.

Very disappointed in app. I bought this specifically to be able to listen (from my iPad 3) to 'my' ebooks (ePub) while I'm at my desk or driving. I don't use Dropbox nor while I download it to use with this $4.99 app. I followed the directions per vbookz website for saving an ePub converting it to text then converting back to ePub with success. While that was a bit interesting in itself I could not upload the saved ePub back to vbookz. This was a complete waste of money for me. I hope the other buyers have better success than I did.

Works with some caveats. There is a problem with this app on the iPad 3. It shrinks the text and does not highlight what it's reading. Works well on iPad 1 & 2 with unprotected ePub files that have the language set to English (use Calibre).

Trapped in a Library of Classic Literature: Good and Evil. This is a lovely seamless application for downloading and reading any of the 30,000 public domain books and literary works out in the application's large library. However, I was looking for an application that would allow me to read any of my own books. I was willing to convert to the correct format the app wanted. I was willing to purchase additional languages if I needed them, but unfortunately I am trapped in the library with only the selections available within the app. This is still a nice app because I can now have "House of Mirth" read to me by my iPad, but I was kinda expecting that I could create and choose my library with the only limitation being format. They should make it crystal clear: you cannot use any books that aren't available in the app library. I hope that is clear enough for any of the rest of us who couldn't tease that out of the application description.

Simply inexcusable.. I also experienced the same problem as other reviewers. It appears that version 2.4 does not have the "new book" option, but that version 2.4's only accompanying documentation is for an earlier version (one that had the felature). For a new user like me, this was absolutely frustrating, as I wasted a lot of my time searching for the "new book metal plate" and tried tapping and swiping all over the app. It is SIMPLY INEXCUSABLE for the app to have been released with such a wild goose chase in the documentation. The other reviewer who says all the negative reviewers are incompetent is missing the point. After some investigation, yes, I was able to surmise that I can probably use my desktop machine to fetch texts from Gutenberg, and use iTunes to deposit them into my iPad so that vBookz can read them. (I haven't verified that this works.) It is ludicrous that that reviewer would think a user that doesn't go to the lengths I did is incompetent. It is the company that screwed up the documentation that is incompetent, and I strongly suspect that reviewer is a shill for that company. All that aside, the app's text to speech technology is barely adequate. It may well represent the state of the art (I really can't judge that), but anyone expecting it to sound at all natural will be very disappointed. Having contacted the company, I have been offered a refund. I will gratefully accept that offer.

I love it. It uses pretty good TTS voices, they don't get everything perfect, but thats ok. I like that you can import from Dropbox, and so far I have had no problems importing my own books in ePub format. one bit of advice I will give, when you want to exit vBookz, press the button in the upper left to go back to your bookshelf so it put the bookmark back in to save your progress.

This book reading at is awesome. I love this app this app should be for anyone who likes books I can't really read all that well but I can't spell at all but this app rules I'm giving it five star and plus it's an awesome app just to kick back relax and listen to the story

Really Good App. I really love this app. The voice synthesis could be a little better but, it's still a really good app. I look forward to the improvements in future updates.

Worth it. I'm on the go a lot and this app helps me to enjoy my reading addiction wherever I am. Once you get used to some of the strange ways the app reads some words it's just like any other book on CD. However, now I can have ANY book I like in audible form for way less than the Audible app.

Beautiful app. Great looking app! The presentation alone draws you in to reading these books. It can read books back to you, so it's great way to catch up on your reading during your commute.

Awesome. I love it!! I have read at least 10 books a month if not more since I bought this program I love it so much. My toddler will sit in my lap and watch my iPhone while it reads.. And my toddler will not sit still for anything. I also have to hold him to put him to sleep at night and he listens and falls asleep within minutes

Endlessly impressive-foreign language use too. What this program is advertised to do it does perfectly and beautifully. I use it primarily to read books in Polish to me. Now that it has the ability to import ePubs, I can create ePubs with just the Polish phrases I want to study and hear them pronounced to me, the box surrounding the word moving along with the voice. What a help this is for the challenge of learning a new language! The developers are quick to reply to questions. Thanks!

Confused PLEASE HELP. This app is gear about reading the few books that come with it. I cannot get it to access any of my thousands of books already in my ipad2. I bought this to read to my sight impared relative. I also got it to read to when my eyes were tired. Only get this if you want the 10 books that come with it.

Love it!. Great job, similar interface to iBooks but glass shelves. Looks sweet and it reads to you. Enhancements: give us a browsing feature by topic. How about the ability to enhance the book with a librovox recording instead of the computer voice? Worth the $5 just for the reading ability. Also love the way many of the titles have actual book covers, and the ones that don't have a generic cover.

Easy to understand. I am a truck driver audio books are all I do. This is great. Easy to deal with while driving. Easy to understand. Wish I had this years ago. Wish I could import my existing library. Better search ability of the app library would be nice.

Solid app. I really like this app for the simplicity and practicality . In my case was always stable w minimum crashes. So it's not the magic that is very convenient way to get a review on any book

OMG!!!. $4.99 for just the app.... & separate purchase if you want it to actually read to you.... English must be purchased $4.99 and all other languages are separate charges.. Run your business right then maybe you'll get some business. This should be the best out there...will be calling apple for this fraud business and get my money back...

Does what it's supposed to do. I've had no problem having it read my own e-books. I don't know why other people were having so many issues, perhaps I'm just lucky. The voice synthesis is not as good as Siri, but I can't be bothered doing that silly select text trick to make her read through the accessibility menu. If there is a picture of a page or any artwork in the e-book then it will not read that part and the voiceover will stop. You'll have to start again manually on the next page. However the bookmarks function is quite handy and works well. Additional languages and voices are really overpriced, they cost as much as the app does. All in all it's what I wanted - an app to make my eBooks audiobooks for my daily commute.

Crashes when I import a pdf file from G-drive.. The app closes immediately as soon as I try to open a file that I imported from my google drive

Great for struggling readers. This app is great for people that struggle with reading or have dsylexia. The app magnifies the word being read so an individual can follow along with the audio. The web support personnel are very helpful in providing instruction for how to convert books (that are not available from vBooks) from different file types so that they will work with vBooks. I recommend this app to help students that struggle with reading to gain greater access to books.

Does not work with your own epubs. I bought the Vbookz app expecting that I could import my own ePub files and have them read to me. A previous reviewer suggested to use calibre to convert non-drm protected books into the right format (epub). I tried this and copied the ePub file via iTunes into the app. Vbookz recognizes the file and opens it, but each chapter of the book I was reading showed only the first page of that chapter. When syncing the same file to iBooks the whole chapter is visible. I will now use the VoiceOver feature in iBooks instead.

the count of monte cristo. This AP stinks can't understand a word they say I switched it to Italian and it must be an Italian language they must have invented like a mix of Spanish Portuguese etc I would like my money back for the Ap and the Italian conversion of the book $4.99 + $4.99. Also it looks that I can only pick from the selection they give you. NO GOOD.

Good app but needs improvement. I use this app to read pdf files. I like it but... Please, please give it landscape mode. 99% of the apps I use are in landscape mode and can switch to other mode. This is a must have! Please allow access to the voices and pronunciations already set on iPad settings. I use it a lot and have spent a lot of time to refine the pronunciations. Now your app wants to users own. Wouldn’t it be easier to tie into what’s already set on the iPad? Thanks.

Very unhappy. The voice was terrible and distracting. I am quite upset I paid almost ten dollars. I did not understand I would have to pay an extra 4.99 for each additional language I wanted to hear, nor did I realize it would be a terrible glitchy distraction of a voice. Unless they fix that, don't lose your money like I did. Totally upset I lost 10$ on this thing. Developers, I hope your goal was to be a scam, otherwise you failed.

vBookz is Just Plain Awesome!. Okay, WoW! I agree with the other reviewer who said "That's what I'm talk-in about" This app is amazing. Worth every penny even if you just read a few books off this app, but I doubt that will happen there are many good books that are free, for all ages . Music plays while you choose your book of choice and then just let it read out loud which is great, or just read it simple and plain without the read out loud feature on, no matter what it's a awesome app :-)

Don't buy it. I thought this would be good for school because we read a lot of books in English class but it is not. It's a waste of 3 to 4 dollars and I want my money back! I cant buy any books it's only the 10 books that they give to you that I read back in 6th grade.

the low reviews are wrong!!!. this app is an electronic book reader... some of the low reviews i read looked seem like the people have Never owned the app or were trying to use it for a purpose it wasnt intended for.... i use calibre libarary management program and convert all my non-drm'd books to epub... then i simply drag them into the vbooks folder of itunes,, after syncing.... the app then reads those books to you... or you can read them on your own.... you control the speed and it has male and female voices (you have to download the male voice 50 meg its free but i prefer it) folks this is a fantastic app... those who compare it to 'stanza' are wrong i have stanza and yes it exposes my library to the internet with the calibre server but it doesnt read the book to you and you still have to download the book to read it... ibooks will read your book but it is very clunky and you have to change your phone's accessibility features and use different swipes and touches to get around in it.... this app is one of the best readers out there.... my kindle reader is only slightly better.... if you are looking to have a computer read your books in epub format this is the app for you...

Awesome app. Great app - I bought the ipad and ipod specifically when I found out about this app. I love text to speech - it makes reading so much easier and this app does it really well and on a portable device as small as the ipod. Amazing. I can't wait for the new version that will support ePub format. Just need to figure how to remove the drm from ebooks I buy so I an read them on this app =D.

Waste of money. I don't understand why anyone would want to pay money for this. Most of the decent books in this archive are available in the FREE Audiobooks app and are done by real voice actors. It would be 5 stars if it allowed me to import my own books and the presumption that it would was the only reason I spent money on it. Note to developer: Please put up a note in the details of the app that users cannot import their own books so no more people are duped into buying this.

Like it... but.... Although I like this app, I would love to see a PDF Voice Reader version of this app or the ability to have PDFs read out loud within this application, but for the iPad. I bought your Mac version of PDV Voice Reader and would most definitely purchase an iPad version of the app. Thanks, J, Los Angeles

Great App, but. This is a wonderful app & especially for people who have questionable eye sight,but there is only one thing wrong,this app crashes while downloading book. I have not had any other app's to crash on me. I will change my rating after the maker of this app fixes the crashing problem while in this app's free book store. other then that this app rock's.

So sad!. The app cash opening a pdf, I did try reinstalling, resetting the iPhone... nothing work

Waste of money. Great graphic but too slow, bad audio and bad search of new books.. Waste of money! :( The application looks really nice both for the graphics and "sound effects", but it seems the creator focused more on the appearance of the application than on what it really has to do, which it does very badly. The voice is computer generated and some parts are really annoying. It's possible to search a new title, but the search can only be done by title and not by genre, author, description etc. Also, the results of the search is a list with the title of the book and it's not possible to see more info about a book before deciding if downloading it or not. If one wants to discover if he/she is interested in that particular book he/she must download it and begin to listen to it. Furthermore the application is really slow, making annoying the use of it. I think that the creators should have focused more on the audiobook functionalities than on aesthetics. I only hope that future updates will take care of this. For the moment it's really a waste of money. Now I'm using a free audiobooks application, definitely less appealing, but does its job much much better.

Difficult to read!. The moving "cursor box" makes it extremely difficult to read the text, please change it to just simple underline....

Awesome app!. It does everything I had hoped, makes my commute enjoyable... The only improvements I would like to see is place in book syncing across multiple devices... And if there was a way to upload to directly from the iBooks app this would be the best app ever! Very Good Job by the developer!

Beautifully done!. This app looks even better than the original iBook app, plus it does a great text-to-speech and reads you your books out loud. This is great for adults, as well as for kids learning to read or for those learning a foreign language. I have not encountered any glitches with this latest version and the app has been working beautifully.

Nice update - so close to having it all. This is a great app. I think you could really turn this onto a huge success. There are a lot of people out there would love to read and listen to an ePub book all in one place. This app comes very close, but there are still a few key features missing. 1. I can't start and stop the reading with the pause button on my earphones. This really makes it hard to use this app in a real world situation where interruptions occur. 2. Many of the epubs I import think that I need to purchase the German AIP even though they are in English. 3. You cannot adjust the brightness of the screen from within the app. You can't really read without that feature. Keep up the good work!

Life Changing apps for all the family. Probably one of the most unique apps I've came across in a while. My kids and my wife love to read, listen and have fun with it. Great book selection and smooth text to speech engine. You must try it...

Can’t read Kindle books. I am looking for an app that can read Kindle books!

Good but needing changes. I really like this app. I have experimented with several book readers and none of them have the audio functionality this one offers. On top of that, it is a lovely app. Two things keep it from being five star. One, it cannot run in the background. Two, there is a page-turning sound that you cannot disable (along with other mildly irritating sounds.) if these two things were fixed, I would never bother with another app.

Why not continue playback while locked?. The current version does seem to have resolved the issues of importing your own files, but playback immediately ceases if you lock your device or exit the app. As a primarily audio-based app, it would be ideal for on-the-go listening, but the inability to lock the touchscreen while playing severely limits it's usefulness in such situations.

Do not buy!. The description of the app leads u to believe existing eBooks and PDFs will work...they don't! After not seeing away to import my files, I went to the support page and found it will not work with pretty much anything else. I've never wished I could get a refund so much before.

Bad experience. The reader sounds like a computer & is not fluent which detracts from the enjoyment of the book . I would not recommend this app to anyone. A waste of money

So far so good. (iPhone 4). First, would suggest doing away completely with the theme music. Another suggestion would be to include both male and female voices by default. A little frustrating to have download that after having completed the purchase. I can understand it would add to the size of the app but bite the bullet on that. Some cleaner graphics would be nice, nothing noisy to look and without the unnecessary detailing - whilst still maintaining that 'bookish' theme. This also doesn't seem to be as well as suited to the iPhone compared to the iPad so perhaps that is the issue. Anyway thanks. I am sure this will improve in leaps and bounds and become a must have app.

Useful App...needs fine tuning. Great have an app to read EPUB books aloud. I would like to see the following functions/options implemented in future upgrades: -the ability to disable and enable sound effects, find the sound effects annoying -the ability to list books by title, etc & have a book search function. I have many books, and with nine books to one screen in the current setup, it takes a while to find a particular book -Book covers are not imported for some reason -Ability to import more books. 70 books is extremely limiting. Should be no limit especially as books cost money -I can never connect to the server, always receive a message stating network unavailable -the ability to change voice pitch etc Otherwise I am happy with the purchase

Accessibility Consultant. After the issues experienced with the VBookz PDF reader removing important accessibility features I downloaded the VBookz Audiobook app which has an inbuilt PDF reader. Unfortunately the PDF reader does not work. The app also hasn’t been updated in 3 years and requires a privacy statement from Apple. I have contacted the manufacturer of the app through their website as the email support also does not work and have given them time to respond before contacting Apple. These tools used to be great tools but with the removal of accessible features and false promises of updates I am disappointed and won’t be recommending this app.

Where is the download button?!. There is no download button on this thing. Please update.

A bit expensive!. Would be better if we could open ebooks from other applications into vbooks. We pay quite a bit for the app the least we could have are these changes done

Quite good, but doesn't work in the background.. This app does all it says it will, but is a bit useless as it stops reading if the screen locks or if you go to another app. As far as I can tell this means you can't stick your iPhone in your pocket an listen to a book. And even if you could do this without touching any of the on screen buttons it would flatten your battery quickly with the screen staying on. Hopefully an update will fix this problem.

I like a lot. This app is great. I have used other audiobook apps with real voices but they chewed up so much data in large file book chapter downloads that it was costing a fortune, and therefore pretty much unusable for me. So the vBookz app is an ideal choice for me, because if I want to download a book, I just need to download the small size ebook file, not any audio connected to it. Also, what I miss out by not having a real voice read to me, the automated voice is still quite acceptable & easy to listen to. I use the American English female voice. I also like the well presented interface - very nice. Maybe an improvement could be the option to preview/see more information about new books, and more options in the searching of new books, such as categories. This type of app is pretty well nearly there with the voice reading technology, but users will always want better, and no doubt developers will keep improving it - which is great. Keep up the good work, vBookz.

Horrible. Computer generated voice reading classic novels ruins it and saps the life from the experience. Don't waste your money.

Doesn’t work. App crashes as soon as to select any document. Even the “getting started” document crashes. No way of contacting support. Don’t waste your money.

Very Jumpy. The text reads really jumpy,,, reading Alice in wonderland but it pronounces Alice as A--Lise, so very annoying. Hopefully with upgrades the text will read more fluently and then I will use it. Waste of money for now

Crash happy app. Not happy. Started ok, but now just crashes when doing anything. Even less happy that the priced dropped after I bought it.

How do I download. I can't find the icon to download books. Please fix. Otherwise brilliant.

Fantastic. Great app well worth the money

Innovative ebook reader, almost audiobook player. As an ebook reader, it works fairly well. My daughter has enjoyed the ability to have it read her stuff she wouldn't otherwise be able to read. As an audiobook app, it's not quite there. I listen to a lot of audiobooks while driving, doing chores, etc. This app reads well enough when the screen is on, but doesn't allow me to turn the screen off, put the iPod in my pocket, and keep listening. That is an essential feature for me to keep using it. Would be even better if I could use the play/pause button on my headphones too.

Worst app ( don't buy it ). I am very disappointed with the app. It did not work . I spend extra 4.99 for French audio but it keep crash on me .

Best ebook reader ever. It looks awesome and it sounds great. With more content I'd update it to 5 stars

Vraiment génial!. VBooks m'a sauvé la vie. Je suis camionneur. Je passe plus de 14 heures par jour à conduire, seul dans mon camion ce qui passablement ennuyant. Grace à ce logiciel incroyable, j'écoute en moyenne deux romans par jour. Un grand merci au concepteur.

Sounds bad.. This looks nice- but sounds terrible - I can not stand the automated computer robot voice stumbling through the words. Impossible to enjoy the story. Tried adjusting the voice speed, it does not help. Will never use this ap.

Terrible app. This app reads to you with a computer voice wherein the sound bounces in and out. It sounds like a dying r2d2 minus the animation. Don't waste your money. Total waste

Can Be Better. It reads well, but at random times, it freezes completely for a minute or two, then it jumps few pages ahead. Since most of my epub books do not have page numbers, I do not know where to resume my listening. vBookz pdf does not do that.

Vbookz. I thought these audio books would be read by a real person not by a computer generated voice. Very disappointed. Sandra

Poor. Not impressed at all. She sounds like a robot reading individual words, not sentences. Very hard to understand. Wish I hadn't wasted my money on this one.

good app for school. This app helps you learn to read. It is great app for like studing for a test and project. On vBookz you can download free books. vBookz can also read to you but it's your option. You will find it will make it so much easier to read books when you use vBookz. Comment from Grade 6 student

Sounds and looks great. @T15360 & @Momof31976 ... I don't know what have you expected and if you know what is TTS is ... but I have been following TTS since it's birthplace in AT&T labs and later work done by France Telecom which had set about 10 years ago high standard for TTS such as the ones you hear when you call your Bank or airline. These companies run TTS Programs on quad-core machines and the voice is actually simulates real samples of syllables. You can't expect anything like that on the phone unless you use google service. The voices this app is using are Acapella, one of the best consumer available voices. IPhone processing power and battery has limitations. Thats's why maybe the quality is not ad good as if you run on a computer. The voices in this app are scaled down to 8 bit from 11? But they sound still OK. With regard to the app - it's very well designed. I wished there is integration with Dropbox, but that would probably be reduce sales of Ebooks. Overall- highly recommended app.

Remarkable for $4 and excellent support - downgraded due to problem. Since I last wrote the review shown below, a problem has arisen and I am still awaiting a solution. After updating to the latest version of iTunes, all my previously stored books on Vbookz disappeared. Also I can no longer reload those ebooks or other books that I converted using Stanza to iTunes. Hence I cannot get them onto either my iPad or iPhone - I purchased both versions of the vBookz app. Has anyone else run into this problem? Bottom line, my own books can no longer be read out aloud nor loaded to vBookz - and so until this is resolved I will need to downgrade this app to 2 stars! .............hopefully this is a temporary glitch. PREVIOUS REVIEW BELOW: I have spent many more dollars in the past for a text to speech reader but for $4 this is a steal. Had a problem converting my lit books to epub and within hours, support was able to help and get my book in a "readable" version that vBookz could read to me. Hint here is to use Stanza to make the conversion as they suggested. It will be 5 stars next time if the excellent voice can be"taught" to modulate a little better, and learn to read chunks of text more naturally - I know that is asking a lot of a tts application that only cost $4 but I am sure the developers will continue to improve the product. Well done so far and very worthwhile a download for those, like me, who want large books read to me on the long drives to work...

Still room for improvement. It's pretty good! Still not as visually pleasing as iBooks and kobo app (with the page turn animation), I'd like it if when your manually turning the page you didn't have to start from the corner. I'd also like to tap on the screen to make the controls and word highlight disappear. It would be great if the voice still talked if you go to the home screen or lock the device. If you make all the changes I've suggested and make a more authentic page turn animation you'll get a five star from me. On the the other hand I'll never get another audiobook!

What did you expect?. Great text-to-speech ePub reader. For those who do not like the automated voice, what did you think the computer voice would sound like? It's a computer!

...If only it ran in the background!. The app cannot run in the background, so you have to have the screen on all of the time. Major bummer and a huge battery drain. I understand this may be an issue with Apple app rules, so I cannot totally fault the developers. But I wonder if there is a potential minor technical workaround, such as connecting to a server that streams something low bandwidth and insignificant so that it technically is a radio app, while playing the native audio from the machine. I wonder if all it would have to do is contact a server every once in awhile to qualify as a streaming app. This would technically satisfy the requirements and yield a much more flexible app. If that is not possible, I wonder if there is another potential workaround that at least allows the screen to go dark, and to lock out the touchscreen, because I cannot even put this in my pocket without it triggering the on-screen buttons. Perhaps if there was a "lock" button in the corner of the interface that required a 3 digit code to open the GUI to operation. It is unlikely you would butt dial a 3 digit code. This app is great overall, if they could just get this one issue fixed.

Just awful. This app is awful-nothing worse than text to speech. I might as well have a toddler reading to me at least then I would get a little feeling. What a waste of money and I would not recommend this app to anyone. On the contrary I will tell them not to even view it. The description should say text to speech before people waste their time and MONEY!

Computer voice. This app is horrible. Is not a person reading the book is a computerize voice which is really anoying to listen to

Gorgeous app. Extremely functional and very well designed. Just a beautiful app... I took the time to learn what it does and how to maximize it based on another review, and she was right. It's easy and awesome!

Vbookz. Este programa tiene muchos problemas serios, por ahora no se los recomiendo, los libros se cargan incompletos y faltándole muchas páginas, algunos capítulos se repiten y otros simplemente los salta, espero en verdad que arreglen este problema ya que si abro el mismo archivo en el ibooks de Apple se ve completo y perfecto.

Not great!. I should have taken the reviews seriously! Don't waste your money. This app needs to get rid of the computer voice. I mean come on..... Really??? There are some classic books here... Please fix this app. The computer voice is annoying along with that magnify over each word! Really??? Don't do it!

Can't add books. I don't like the fact that you can only use books from their custom library. You cannot add books of your own through iTunes or by any other means. I would love to see this option added in a later version. At the very least, it would be nice to have live voice actors bundled with the books. But please, add support for adding books through iTunes, or by simply using the iTunes library. That being said, what the app does do, it does well. It is a very nice app, and I give it three stars. If and when support for user's own books is added, it will receive more. As it is now, although the app is nice, I don't think it is worth the price. You can get many of these books free in the Free Books app, on iBooks, or even from other eReader apps (Kindle, B&N eReader) and the audio from the Audiobooks app. They may even be available on iTunes, though I haven't checked. However, if you are like me, and don't like listening to audiobooks or others reading without reading along (I find it hard to genuinely focus on the book and take in everything that happens without seeing it in writing), then an app purely for audiobooks isn't that great for you (until multitasking hits the iPad), and you yearn for an app that does both. This is why vBookz is nice, so long as the books you want is available. The only other option is iPod running in the background, but if the book isn't a classic (public domain), then you will have to pay, and it isn't cheap. So, if you want to read and listen simultaneously, you either have to hope vBookz has what you want, or get hold of an m4b on iTunes (for which you will likely have to pay). It is for this reason that vBookz lacks something that could make it a must have app: support for user-added books. If they can provide this, you won't need to pay handsomely for an audiobook: You could just read and let their speech synthesis do the rest.

For the price good. Good text to speech App for the price. It reads less articulate text pretty good - but lacks when it comes to complicated text. The female voice is no good so change it to the male voice. There is a reason why very good text to speech software is usually expensive. But this is not, so you get what you pay for.

Don't buy is cheating. Very very bad audio book app. The reading voice is same google translation audio. Useless I bought and I contact with App Store to refund my money.

So nice. This plus Calibre have made my road trips SO much nicer. Thanks.

Should of been a sample of the "voice reader". This was painful to listen to. Voice overlaps then I tried to slow it down; It made me want throw my phone. Free Books; to high a price.

You've got to be kidding!. The monotone robotic voice that places all of the "expressions" in the wrong places makes listening an annoying effort. I love the idea, but the technology has a looong way to go. Don't waste your money!

Download. Searched star wars but brought up dark star needs update

Application Freezes. Application freezes on my IPad2. Intensely irritating background musical accompaniment. All in all, a total waste of time and money.

Poor audio. The voice is so choppy and unnatural. Is is very difficult to listen for very long. It is a waste of money in my estimation. I am sorry that I made the purchase.

Amazing. I like this app a lot but the app needs to have higher reading speed, faster flipping page animation, more text space in each page; the reading lens does not need to have the reflection effect because it's distracting.

Still bad reading after the update. After the update the reading has improved slightly but is still too fast. Please restore to the May version or add the capacity to let users adjusting the speed. Now it is simply not listenable.

Beautiful App but. the readings sound completely computerized. Imagine a robot reading a bedtime story. Really unnatural.

Need a better way to import books from safari,dropbox.. To hard to import books. Need wireless solution like in Stanza, or a better way to communicate with other apps like safari, dropbox, goodreader, etc

Needs upgrades. Would like some info on the books before I decide to download. Doesn't tell what the book is about or how many MB I will use downloading it. Needs an better area to store the books that I download for later access. Would also be nice if it had better ways to search for different kinds of books.

Still frustrated. No play when app closes.. 4th: Now that OS4 is on the iPad, shouldn't be able to continue to play if you close the application. Pandora does this now so what gives. I would raise my rating to 4 stars if it did this. 3rd: I had to downgrade my rating. When I tried to import a non drm protected book via iTunes, it would not copy! 2nd review: Developer got back to me right away. It seems that Apple only let radio apps play on sleep mode. Just wish there was a work around so I wouldn't have to go to settings to turn off the sleep settings. 1st review: Unlike the iPod or Pandora App, vBookz shuts off when the Ipad goes to sleep. This seems to be a bug. This makes it very hard to listen since I have to keep touching the page and wastes battery. Otherwise the program would be awesome. Please fix. Will give it 5 stars if they fix. Love that you can upload other docs. Nice feature.
