The World HD App Description & Overview

What is the world hd app? THE PREMIER IPAD ATLAS - with RETINA VECTOR MAPS

The World HD is unique in the app store because it includes both a complete set of country maps AND the largest world fact book. These enable it to answer questions which Atlases and fact books cannot: Atlases show you where countries are located, but have very little information about them; fact books tell you about each country, but their maps leave you guessing about where places are located.

___________ HOW IT WORKS ___________

The interface is animated and interactive. Touch a country on the world map and the Retina vector country map opens while the factbook slides onto the screen, each topic neatly organized as tiles along the edge of the map. Touch a factbook tile and it zooms out to reveal detailed information about that topic. Not sure where a country is located? Select it on the drop-down list and The World HD zooms in on it then opens the map and factbook.

The zoomable world map is not just the fastest way to select a country it also enables you to visualize and understand entire regions. It is so intuitive and easy to explore that once you get started it's hard to stop!

___________ FEATURES ___________

RETINA VECTOR MAPS
** Includes high-resolution Retina vector maps for EVERY COUNTRY built-in! Unlike the other atlases, these maps remain in focus at all magnifications so you can easily see even the smallest detail. These aren't the CIA maps found in the factbooks, they are used in printed atlases.

MORE INFORMATION
** Contains geopolitical and demographic information on 300 countries and regions.

NO INTERNET CONNECTION is required
** Except for live Wikipedia content, all data and maps are built-in

INNOVATIVE FACT BOOK PANEL
** Presents each section of the fact book as tiles enabling you to quickly find what you need, while keeping the country map in view.

HIGHLY ANIMATED INTERFACE
** Responds to your touches and gestures so you can quickly find the information you are looking for.

CIA WORLD FACTBOOK
** This trusted source of current country information is built-in for every country, including sections on: introduction, geography, people, economy, communications, transportation, military, and transnational issues.

WIKIPEDIA
** View the live, community-written Wikipedia content for each country, island, and remote region within the app.

SHOWS YOU where countries are located
** Not sure where a country is located? Select it on the country list and The World zooms to it on the world map and opens the Fact Book Panel

DESIGNED FOR YOUR IPAD & IPHONE
** Thoughtfully uses the whole screen to present maps and data

Great Map. I love this app & I use it quite often. When I am reading about a region I like to go and take a closer look at it. This works perfect for that. It gives so much good information about each area too. I have & continue to recommend this to other users.

Greatest App for World Politics Fan. I've used this app for several years as a reference while reading the newspaper and books. It is excellent and always accurate. Henry

This is the best. This is the best world atlas that I have found. The major plusses are 1) best quality maps - better resolution than the National Geographic Atlas, and 2) the maps are resident on your I-pad which is great for world travelers not always in touch with the Internet. But there is one thing lacking: inability to show your present position as reported by an attached GPS receiver. I suggested this to the developer - we will see what happens.

Needs more. Needs to have counties in the states. At least. This could be easily added in an update.

Has always worked well. Great job.

Finally. The atlas I have been waiting for.

The Ultimate Rip Off. All the 5 star reviews for this app must be employees or close friends of the developer. How any one would rate this app along with National Geographic World Atlas is beyond my comprehension. Nat Geo goes down to neighbor levels in cities where this app gives you major interstates going through a city. How can an app costing this amount of money be so poorly designed. this app has a granularity of (I guess because they don't tell you as Nat Geo does) of maybe 100 miles. Nat Geo goes down to 2 miles. This is the problem with the app store. Too many false ratings and we get burned.

Outstanding App. This app is what I’ve been searching for & it doesn’t disappoint. A fantastic general atlas. I can’t tell you how much I’ve used this as a reference source to news stories, novels etc. AND it utilizes a stable interface across the iPad and iPhone. I should point out I’ve used this for close to 2 years prior to writing this review. Outstanding.

Great Atlas. Excellent vector map w a fine level of detail when zooming in. Need explanation of what the colors signify in terms of topography. A Legend would be helpful. Otherwise very pleased w app.

Good atlas, clear display. I was looking for a replacement for another world atlas app I’ve been using. It had become dumbed down over the past year or so and I found this. It works well. Easy to quickly find countries and to get more detail about them with a tap on the screen. Maps are displayed very clearly when you zoom in. Happy to have found this app. Hope it’s updated often to reflect global changes. The link to Wikipedia works well too.

Map needs updating. The app is relatively good at what it does, and more convenient on the iPad than some alternatives. The rendering of the maps seems generally rather good, however there seem to be some inconsistencies especially with the political maps. (For instance, the states of Mexico are sharply demarcated but not the states of Australia or Germany or the provinces of Canada.) In addition, the map presently seems to have some outdated information, for instance “Mount McKinley” in Alaska instead of the correct and official name, Denali; also, it draws the International Date Line through, rather than around, the nation of Kiribati.

Great app for world info junkies!. Its for sure the best app of its kind in the App Store. Far better than the world factbook for iPad. The ability to pan through the map and to select a specific country is great. You dont have to know the name of the country. You just look at the map, recognize the country and after you tap it, you get all CIA based info. Its great!!! Highly recommended! And it's just 99 cents!

Missing Key. There doesn’t seem to be a key as to what various symbols mean.

As an broad view Atlas. This is only good for large generalized maps. If you wish to explore small towns and villages this app is incapable of doing. Only shows largest cities.

My Go To App for Travel or Just Good Information. Been using this app for years. All good current information; I don't know what the complaints are about. Sure, more details are available, but for a quick update, this app is best.

School Super Tool!. I use this app extensively while teaching geography and world affairs. I wish we had more tools like this in the school. Being able to hold a map of this quality and then zoom into it, seeing the countries which border each other, then facts about them while still viewing the map, is pure teaching magic! The interactive map engages the students to explore the globe and draws them in to learning more. I have never seen a teaching tool as good as this. Geography and world affairs is now their favorite part of the day (it was challenging) and their knowledge level has jumped forward.

Ugh. For a general overview this app is fine. My complaint is that it lacks the detail that would make it worthwhile. Save your money you can do better with Google

Nice little program. Works like I wanted, just like an Alta's! Nice having the info bar.

Great app. This is a good set of maps for learning geography & great for following along while watching international news. Don't give them a bad rating. If you want details, just click in the nation. If you want street details, then buy a garmin or city/state map.

Total waste of money!. I'm kicking myself for being such a sucker as to buy this app. NO DETAIL!

if pilots used this, they’d be lost. very limited map detail, no geo-political, and no navigation

Very Useful. Very useful. I don’t care, personally, for the typestyle, but I use the app just about every day for world events.

Don't buy unless your 6 years old!. Waste of money. I needed an atlas with a much higher degree of detail. This is for little kids. No detail at all with the slightest zooming in. Repeat don't waste your money, I want mine back!!! I bet the 5 star ratings were written by the App makers!!!

Disappointing: slow maps, no detail level. Other review stating "professional quality maps" is a joke. OK, it functions as an atlas with offline access to CIA factbook data. Not that useful when traveling and certainly not enough map detail to even reliably plan travel. On top of all that, the world-level vector maps are very slow to redraw-- the apps's FAQ says this might be slow on some devices. Hey, this says it was designed for ipad and i'm running on the newest model. Sorry use of my four bucks.

Ridiculous review writing. I am 70 years old, thank you fellow- reviewer, and have several degrees and I LOVE THIS!

Great for traveling!!. This app is an essential part of my travel kit. I am a frequent flyer (finally hit 1M miles in January!) and I LOVE my iPad. This app and the WSJ are my two favorites on it. It's a great reference and I really enjoy reviewing where I've been on the maps and learning about places I'm traveling to. It simply has a TON of information and maps which make those long legs and layovers go by quickly. If you're looking for a travel companion, you really can't go wrong with this one. Just buy it!

Language. I wish that we could switch to have commonly used English names for the cities. I use this to increase my knowledge but it is often hard to find the cities, rivers or even small countries as they are only given in the native language.

Professional Maps. As a USAF pilot I love maps and am always on the lookout for good ones. This app contains the BEST MAPS on the iPad. Period. The maps were drawn by GeoAtlas and are beautiful and professional-quality. They are up-to-date (including South Sudan) and they show all the geographic features and all but the smallest hamlets in every country and island. Also, they are all built-in. In addition to the maps, the World Fact Book is built-in as well as Wikipedia for each country. These are great sources of info, possibly the best, for understanding the history and current situation in a country. The interface is my favorite part of the app. You just touch a country to view it. The fact book is like a deck of cards, making it easy to find a section. Overall, this app is built to be used and I can tell a lot of care went into the design.

Nice maps!. I've been looking for an app with useful maps that did not require an internet connection....this has been a long time coming. Finally, maps that have a level of detail that makes them useful! I have one suggestion: It would be lovely to expand search so I could look up a city, lake, river etc and be directed to the right country. I imagine this would be a significant undertaking in terms of compiling and indexing the data...but it would be quite handy. Thanks for doing a nice job. I'm sorry to hear that people have been submitting inappropriate reviews.

A real atlas. I agree with the what a lot of the other reviewers say: this is finally a real atlas, with well-labelled maps of each country showing key towns, cities, mountain ranges, and rivers, not requiring online access, in clear, zoomable vector graphics. Google Earth is great, but serves a different purpose: zoomed out views are often not as helpful as a true designed map (e.g., if you are reading War and Peace and want to follow Napolean's progress along the Danube). Google Earth names all cities in the same font and font size, with no (or not much) human judgment about which ones to label and where to put the label and at what size. Rivers are hard to see in a zoomed out view and often not labeled. The topography is not as easy to grasp as in a traditional cartographic color scheme. Also, Google Earth requires Internet access, which is fine mostly, but not if you are reading on a plane and want to look somthing up.

Excellent for the news. If you are looking for maps to follow the world news, this works great.

The Best Atlas on the App Store!. I use this app constantly in my political science class as a teaching tool. When we are discussing a foreign country it helps to bring this up to give the students a frame of reference. The maps and data are the best I've seen and I've tried them all. The maps are atlas quality (I'm sure I've seen them before, but not sure which printed atlas) and they work better than Google maps which have more detail but are really hard to use as a reference since large cities and small cities just mix together with the same small text. I see some negative reviews here about the maps, but I can't imagine what they are expecting. These maps are very good! The CIA factbook and Wikipedia let us drill down into the details and are up to date. Since our textbook is a couple years old, I often go here to check information. I really like the data cards interface - very quick and easy to use. I was surprised when I accidentally touched on the Canary Islands, which isn't a country, and up came the info on it too! It's very comprehensive. Overall just an outstanding ap!!!

Perfection!!!!. Perfect app and complements my other geographic apps perfectly. Beautiful job!!! Exactly what I wanted and needed in a map and geographic information!! Runs so smoothly!!! I LOVE this app. I don't have room for many of my apps, but no matter how little space I have, I will not give up this app. I am learning a ton, and the maps are GORGEOUS!!!!

One of my favorite iPad apps.. Of all the iterations of the CIA World Factbook I like this one the best. Maps and layout look good on the iPad. Update 12 Jun 12.......still one of my favorite iPad apps. Yes, maps are high resolution and render a little slow on the new iPad, that's a lot of pixels. Of course there's not enough map detail to go driving...that's not what it's for. It's perfect for the presentation of basic maps and CIA World Factbook data. 6 stars if I could. Update Oct 14......still love it. Hope it continues to be updated.....

Solid App at the Right Price. Quick to load and access, lots of detail, and no online access required. Definitely going to be my go-to world map from now on.

It’s okay. The least bad iPad Atlas available.. With the demise of the National Geographic World Atlas, this seems to be the best available. The world map is actually quite decent. Unfortunately if you want to look at regional maps, you are restricted to looking at one country at a time, without a way to relate it to the detail maps of other countries, and often presented in a way where part of the country of interest is cut off and can’t be seen in any way. The country maps are tolerable but not great, and to make things worth, much of the screen is wasted with generic information from the CIA Fact Book. When I’m looking for a map, every pixel not dedicated to the map is a pixel wasted! :( I have no objection to the CIA info being put in the app, but the app would be VASTLY improved if the public record CIA stuff was removed and the system for viewing the country maps (and the amount of detail in them) is improved.

One of the best for off line viewing. Love the details even in offline mode and has lots of interesting information about countries. Keep up the good work and make it even better perhaps.

Good App- Worth the $. This app is a nice alternative to the CIA World Fact Book. It has much of the same info and delivers it in a highly comprehensible, easy to navigate interface. Still has room for improvement and the developers seem dedicated to enhancing their app whenever possible. I've been using the app for a few weeks now and I'm still exploring much of its content.

Fantastic app. This is a really great atlas and probably the best there is for international pilots since we want the big picture.

Outdated. Contrary to what’s advertised, it’s not kept up to date. Information is 5 yrs. old!

Where is National Geographic?. This app is just ok, nothing compared to National Geographic world atlas app that’s no longer available it seems. Out of the available options as of today, this seems to be the best one. But, I keep looking for something better.

What I was looking for.... If you're looking for a flat globe type image that shows all world locations connected, then this will work just fine. I found other maps, but most were sectioned off by continents. This app provides a full connected world view that can be expanded, scrolled across as well as up and down to view how all locations are connected without having to stop and go to a different set of maps to locate an adjoining area.

A wonderful atlas. I have been using this atlas for a couple years of college. It's good and I have no problems with the speed or details like some other reviewers. You really can't compare it to other atlases for the iPad since NONE of them have vector maps. These are in a class by themselves. If you are a geographer, you know what I mean. If you are looking for a good atlas, this one will not disappoint.

It’s just a static map. There is no indication of states, provinces, or prefectures. It is no better than a high resolution scan of a paper map.

Almost perfect.. This is a really useful atlas and world fact book. I find myself using it both for specific travel planning purposes as well as helping obtain background on breaking world events. I particularly enjoy the ability to use it when not connected to the internet. The huge download is worth it from that perspective. I would give it the full five stars but for one niggling problem. Almost every time I launch the app it misfires and returns to the iPad home screen. Second attempt to launch always works and it recovers nicely. I really enjoy this program and highly recommend it. Keep up the good work!

nice maps, poor usability. I use this software while reading history books. When I go to the internet to look something up while I'm reading, and then go back to this app, it is back on the opening map of the world. You have to hit search and retype the area of interest and wait for it to load again and recenter it to where you had it. VERY ANNOYING. It is true that the maps are pretty.

No Palestine. It’s weird, but the places where Israel occupies and murders unarmed civilians are listed under an administratively mysterious provisional status. Now why would that be?

Q. Excellent app. Has atlas information without needing to be online. Could be improved by having links to move from one country map to the next without needing to redraw the map of the world.

Where’s the rest?. The maps are fairly detailed in terms of countries and cities, but that’s it. Provinces, counties and many bodies of water are not identified. Those that are, aren’t always clear. Yet another map app that leaves me wanting.

Super Atlas. One of the "check this out!" apps I show people who haven't used an iPad. It's a first rate atlas, just like the one in our bookshelf, but with even better maps. Plus it has the CIA fact book for every country. The interface is cool (touch a country to see its map) and is easy to pick up and use, in fact I often open it while watching TV. You can't navigate a car or an airplane with the maps, but their authentic atlas look is the best for seeing where places are located. Highly recommended!

Excellent geopolitical atlas, fit for purpose. I’ve searched for many and this is the best for general use. If more detail is required then there’s Apple and google maps that are complementary and serve completely separate needs.

World HD. This app makes finding basic information about a country dead easy. It's up to date and very useful for teaching Geography classes when you need that handy fact at your fingertip.

ElJefitoDos. Terrific! I'm some sort of atlas freak. Have two or three others on my iPad. This one tops them all. It's easy to use. Colourful. Maps are excellent. The in-built fact book has info of the type seen in a fair number of other apps, but here, in this app, it is very well organised, easy to access and read. You always take a punt on iPad / Pod / Phone apps (given that you usually cannot try before you buy) -- your money's good on this one. Trust me. Go for it!

Worth the money. A very good App, a lot of information and easy (and fun!) to use. I would like to see a search function for finding cities and towns on the maps.

World Atlas-The World HD. This atlas has very limited information , essentially a 6 year old child could draw the roads that it shows in Australia.

Great app. One of the best value Atlas and fact books out there. We'll done

Railway lines.. Sirs, I have recently sent an email requesting the inclusion of railway routes. I’m hoping this will be possible. Regards. Ian Brown

Disappointing. A couple of years ago there was a fine atlas in the App Store. Then it was removed. Ever since, World HD has been the best of a truly poor bunch. Which is not saying much. It is endlessly careless and disappointing. Difficult to understand how something better cannot be produced. Thank goodness I still have my “proper” atlases, in books and on paper.

Nah not impressed. Well it does give you a map of the world but just try finding a town in Austria from the large map. It's like sticking a pin in a cake and hoping to find a raisin. Not at all refined - too gross. Wait for a more developed version

Average senior. We love this app. Able to locate and read about places we read about, or hear about, or see on TV.

Disappointing in the extreme. Minimal detail, select a country and them zoom in produces no greater detail, just enlarges the text. I have old printed Atlas that have greater detail. I would like my money back

Suzie. Great app - however would like to see a search function to find towns and cities

An excellent app. Great detail, works offline, contains the CIA Factbook, what more could you want? Best atlas app I have used, well worth it.

Excellent. I am in International Pilot and this App has replaced my paper Atlas. Broadband at 35,000' is not an option, so having the maps stored in memory is essential. The sidebar information is a really elegant piece of work, even though I really don't use it. Of course I would like to see more detail open up as you zoom in, but you can't have everything. Overall an excellent App for idling away the time looking out the window of my office. Well worth much more money.

Disappointed. Really disappointed in this app. It seemed to be the best available but still doesn’t offer any level of detail necessary to discern rivers, small towns and the road network to at least the level of all paved roads between towns, if not in them. Why can’t we have something that shows detail down to Google maps resolution and retain the ability to go wider without losing any more detail than is necessary for clarity? This app is useless for my purposes, it is no better than printed atlases are. Alan Egerton-Warburton

Best of a bad bunch. Why is there not ONE decent World Atlas in the App Store? I know cartography is particularly difficult for computers but the current offerings for world atlases are simply pathetic. Most seem to lack levels of detail and even large towns and cities are often missing. The National Geographic Atlas used to be quite good but, in recent years, it appears to have been stripped of much of its former detail and now works slowly (I have a fast computer and decent internet connection). Heaven knows why. Such a move is baffling. This is a serious blight on the National Geographic brand. Google Maps and Google Earth do a quite reasonable job but they are not really atlases. World HD is probably the best of a bad bunch even though it, too, lacks a lot of detail. What is going on? You'd think a proper world atlas would be one of the first apps produced, like a good dictionary. Most of us would be quite happy to pay for one, as we have done for proper dictionaries. It seems that the programmers and software engineers have been defeated by the amount of up to date detail required in a proper world atlas.

Very happy with it. Best I’ve found on the App Store. Appreciate there are a few small limitations, but if you need more detail, use Google Maps etc. This is fantastic for an offline atlas!

Update required. Great app but needs to be updated for iOS 11

Decent atlas - read the tips in the Info section top right. In a field that seems astoundingly thin - iPad and iPhone atlases - “The World HD” is a refreshing stand out. Clear, crisp and easy to navigate.

DISAPPOINTING !!!. I just purchased this iPad app with great expectation in view that similar Atlas apps have received poor reviews. There are two things which are causing this app to continually crash on the iPad; - Change in iPad orientation (rotate iPad) from portrait to landscape, and vice versa - Click on the map for any country under the Fact Sheet (side panel) I did eventually view one country map, and it was not detailed at all. A good idea with extremely poor implementation, & the developer's claims as to detailed maps is misleading. This app is unusable. Extremely disappointed as I have had to trash app. Save your money and buy a coffee instead.

good for world info. nice and interesting world map app..

Nice graphics, inaccurate country data.. App provides link to wiki entries that are at odds with their own country data.

Exceptional. Exceptional tool as an international traveller wondering about the land below in flight.

Incorrect spelling. Seems like a decent world atlas, however, spelling of places in Poland is mostly incorrect, using strange characters that are not used in Polish names.

Simple mais efficace. Bonne application qui fait ce pourquoi elle a été développée. Rien de fancy mais efficace et robuste comme application.

WORLD HD. An utter wate of time and money..

World HD. Pretty Good App. I use it frequently. Colours are nice, detail about right for overview. Text boxes are not very useful, could be improved.

Simple mais peut-être trop simple.. Le passionné de géographie restera sur sa faim mais le néophyte appréciera la simplicité. Application en langue anglaise seulement.

The World HD Atlas & Factbook. This app is a complete ripoff & waste of time & money. Maps are useless, all it does is refer to Wikepedia. Mickey Mouse and childish even. shame on whoever wrote this garbage. I just wasted my money! Beware & don't buy.

World hd. Excellent Quick référence tool.

Very Good. This app is very well made and can be very useful in history and geography school classes

Disappointing. The maps are very low resolution and the user interface is a bit buggy. Zooming in in the maps should increase detail but instead you click on the index map for more detail about your region of interest.

Kinda Good. Its good but laggy

The World HD. Je trouve ca dommage que vous n' ayez pas une version francaise de cette application. Merci !

Great for Free!. Very excellent map and also free app.

Great. I love this im a student in sec 1 very easy to use love it ! :)

The world at your finger tips!. My wife and I are lucky enough to have visited close to 125 countries. This atlas allows me to relive travel memories from over 50 years, but always also to plot new adventures. Clear, informative and easy to use. Clive Jackson, Vancouver, Canada.

Decent app. Nothing fancy. Nice and crisp country maps. Can’t complain.

Best Atlas Available for iOS. This truly is the bst Atlas available on iOS. Stunning visuals, great details and love the fact that you can switch between terrain maps and political maps. Also, CIA/Wikipedia facts are a great addition. If you’re into Atlases, this one is a must!

Incredible!. This is the best map app out there! It's worth way more than they're charging. Buy it now. You won't be sorry.

Great Atlas. I have a U.N. World Atlas and this is a lot better. The store bought one is about half the size of my bed. This is far more convenient. It works offline as well, and yes, this is not Google Earth, but this gives a basic layout of the world. Well worth the money.

what a slow.. Wish I could return to the time I click this app's price icon. Getting incredibly even slower after the each updates, on the 3rd gen iPad. the font doesn't look clear and neat. No way for recommendation unless fix'em.

.. Outstanding! Very well done and informative.

Solid App. Exceptionally well designed app, easy to use and crystal clear. The small bits of information that correspond with each country are just enough to make your average user seem like a geographical genius! I use it consistently while reading the NY Times or similar publications to brush up on my geography. Well done.

Great app to know where you are going.. This is great app to know where you are and where you are going. I am pilot flying around the world and wondering about what countries I am going all the time. This is the app for that.

Okay but not the best. This app is not what I had hoped. It is limited by static maps that cannot be explored beyond the first click. The info contained in the sidebar is good but I feel it is a bit dated and not as current as it should be. To be fair the other world atlas apps available in the apps store are not that much more satisfying. Beyond this I cannot give it better than 3 stars.

I love this app except one mistake.. I love this app except one mistake. The sea between Korea and Japan is not whole Japanese sea. Half is the eastern sea of Korea and the border is the Tok-Do. I know it is common mistakes for everyone, but If you can I hope you fix it.

Maps are too slow!. Very disappointed. Maps are too slow to redraw and poor zoom features. Running with latest SW on new iPad, so I expected better! Feel like I wasted my $$$

Nice App. I like the app and it contains a lot of great information, but whenever you are in a country viewing it's different tabs of information and you click on the country map tab at the bottom left, the program crashes!

Awesome interactive app. This is an incredible interactive map. Very user friendly!

Great App.. My favorite application on my iPad. Use it often.

Not up to date on sudan, no additional zoom ability with internet. Free google earth is way better NG also supports bing maps for zooming in

Very Weak Maps. I was hoping for much more detail in the maps. Something to the point of when flying over a country, one could call up the app and find out the name of a river, city or mountain range. These maps do not provide that capability!

Map when not connected. This is my go to app when I need geographic information as well as the many others details available from the CIA Factbook. Great reference that I use often.

Love. This app is VERY easy to use with lots of information. Well worth the money.

Best atlas in store.. Best atlas in store. Excellent map that's nicely colored. Very up to date - got South Sudan, and Libya has updated background and flag. intuitive controls, with a single tap on the map to bring the country up close. And it supports retina on the new iPad! The only minor issue is that it takes time for it to draw high res map.

World Map. Great app! Sure it is slow to process at times, but the maps are very readable and anyways- who is in a hurry to read a world map?

Outstanding. I am immersing myself in the history of WW II and this app is immeasurably helpful to my reading. It's extremely user-friendly without dummying up the maps and info. Geography was never my forte, but with this app I'm finally getting a handle on it. Love it

Disappointing, poor maps. OK info on each country, but for a program implying that maps are an important element, it's very weak. The only maps show the individual countries in a small, bland view without much detail and generally not in context, I.e. You can hardly get a sense of the location world-wide. Unclear also how current the info is. If this had been a free app, or maybe even a 99-cent app, I shouldn't complain, but for double that I expected more.

The best world map ever !. It's a must have map, if you're looking for the great map which can provide you the deep details including the country fact then here it is.

Great, useful app. I use this app a lot. It is excellent. One of my favorite and most used apps.

Very useful if needed. I play about 2 hours with it and I founded very entertaining and a great way to expand my education on others countries and it's demographics

Outstanding Information !!!!. I love this website not only is it very helpful , but it also gives you great historical and useful facts about every country around the world !! :)

Did not start. I liked ihe images of this app, but after a very long download and install it would not start on my iPad. I really cannot give a good rating until it is fixed.

Poor. Not crazy about this app, it only allows you to zoom into a country at a higher level and cannot zoom down to a detailed streets and roads level. Also does not allow you to put markers or pins down to mark locations....National Geographic app will do both.

Wonderful. Love the country maps. If you're planning on doing some travel these maps are very beneficial. A very good reference.

Truly a fine piece of software. While I don't rely on just one reference, nonetheless this is an excellent geographic addition for teaching my kids. The charting, color and clarity are all superb ... possibly the best. Apps like this make the iPad shine.

Excellent App!!. What a super app! Its one of those "go to" apps which stays on our dock. The kids use it a lot for their homework and we find it fun to browse while relaxing on the sofa.

The World Hd. This is a very interesting app. My 8 year old loves to look at all the flags and what their symbols stand for. I love it too!

Great Map. Easy to use and very complete. I love World maps, and I enjoy reading the detailed information it provides on every aspect of a country. This App does just that: Clear, concise and factual. Good job!

Just awful. Maps are bad, no real information...it wouldn't be worth the download if it were free. Even elementary students could easily find something more substantial.

Has settled more arguments... :). Very very handy. No need for an external connection or anything. I would like to see a "pro" version with more map detail, and have it still not require an Internet connection, but this one is very nice.

Elated. Been using it for over a year now. One of my most-used apps as a frequent traveller.

World at hand. Out standing and very well done. I must say!

Does the job. As good as the printed atlas sitting on my bookshelf, at far less cost and much more convenient. No, it's not Google Earth, but it's all on my iPad.

Details. Disappointed in detail. As I zoom in the detail doesn't change. Towns are missing!!!

Could be better. Useful for studying geography, but not much better than a paper atlas. Should scale in for more detail, be searchable, etc. Why are capitals on the physical map and not the political map?

Great information! Very useful!. I have to travel all over the world. Usually to places that aren't on the beaten path. This application gives me the world on my iPad. If you travel abroad get it!

Mr.. Extraordinary app for geography lovers. Great updated atlas key information. Can be used anywhere since it does not require online connection.

Won't install on 4.2 - "resources have been modified" error. I downloaded v2.2 and it installed fine on 3.2.2 but after upgrading to 4.2 I get an installation error - "resources have been modified". I give it one star - I am not a competitor trying to downclass this app. I've followed the recommendations of iTunes and it still will not install. I will wait for v2.3 and try again.

Crashes. Overpriced at FREE.. Crashes. Overpriced at FREE. I opened The World, touched the search icon (magnifying glass/loop), scrolled to Argentina, touched to select. Next touched map icon of Argentina within Argentina and CRASH! ... The app closes and back to screen full of iPad apps. Repeated process four times with same results except that sometimes The World goes one step further and brings up the map of Argentina before crashing. Didn't try any other countries or features. That was enough.

Great potential - Map Buggy. Graphics are good. Opening globe is excellent. A major problem: when opening individual country maps the app closes down. Fix this and my rating changes to a 4 or 5.

Right-wing app. Just a note to prospective buyers: this being a CIA map, the "descriptions" of nations are firmly and aggressively right-wing. Iraq, for instance, was invaded in 2003 because of "numerous violations of international law"...no mention of non-existent WMDs, controversy, etc. Also, all you get are nations and borders---no cities or towns, geographical features, etc. I'm looking forward to an actually useful world map for the iPad...this definitely isn't it.

Grade School only!. This is the worst world map I've ever seen. The wall maps in 5th grade geography had more detail! I expected to be able to zoom in to the level of a local road map. I am running this on a third generation iPad with iOS6. I paid money for what should have been a free app. I am deleting this at once!

thanks. very graet app pleaes add satelite maps for countries and more zooming and details for countries maps when connect online or make downloadable for use offline. and then add the new section that show statistics of countris on map. for sample show population growth rate countries on the world map form bigest to lowest with statistics indexes. thanks

Great app. I travel all over the world and this app gives me a good lay out of the land and customs of each country very very helpful look forward to updates that make it even better. About the nick name that's my nickname and really.......

Very very Ggod. I have purchased more than 20 ATLAS / MAPS Applications. This is maybe .... the best !

A good start. Stable decent program. Love to see more detailed maps in future. A great aid for me while flying around the globe looking out of the cockpit.

Where next!!!. This app helps me determine where I will go next!!!
