Great, but still can’t delete books or view a full page. Love this app and I’ve found many books that I’ve enjoyed. There were also some that sounded promising but didn’t capture my interest after a few pages or chapters. However, there are two problems that have been reported but never corrected : 1. You can’t delete any books you’ve downloaded. My library is become cluttered and I’m using storage space needlessly. 2. Often the lower part of a page is not displayed. I’ve found a workaround by changing the size of the font from the default 100% to something higher or lower. It is annoying when you’re really focused on whatever you’re reading. Otherwise how can you complain about so many free books!

Greatest thing ever!!. I buy alot of books used at library and what have you. This has saved me so many times from buying the same books!

I can’t register. I would give this app more stars but it won’t let me register. Whenever I try to access the support and FAQ link it comes back with “403 forbidden!” I get the same response when I try to go to the developer’s website. I wish there was someone to contact for help and I wish I could use the features that come with registering an account.

Nothing popular. If you like fantasy or sci-fi books this is not the app for you. They do not have any popular books that I could find at all. Now if you want classics or old fairy tales like beauty and the beast or a tale of two cities then this app is great.

Love but needs more books. Love this app! Only I wish they had more books. I started a book and figured out that it was a trilogy so I wanted to get #2 but I could not find it on the app.

Great app but... one issue. This app is great! I especially love the Sherlock Holmes series. But when I’m reading, I found that every few pages, the book would repeat the same page for three pages, then it would skip a few pages. Can you fix this bug? It’s really annoying!!

Terrible app!. I’ve had this app for many years and admit I don’t use it with great frequency. That being said, I often have issues when I do. I purchased it in 2015 to remove the ads and open more audiobook options, etc. They want me to pay again to remove adds and open more audiobook content! There is no “sign into account” option either which is really strange. I’ve reached out to them twice by email and have had no response. I’m very disappointed because this app had great potential. I’ve given it 2 stars because I can at use it like a free app. Don’t waste your money if you want more from this app!

The way I feel about books. This app makes me feel so much better than buying books from the library

Doesn’t have many common books. I tried looking for about 20 books that I actually wanted to read and found nothing. I think that they should have books that people actually want to read. I am a big book fan, not that picky. My other problem is that you have to pay for audio books. I like to read more than listen to audio books, but some books you might want to read and you’re stuck paying $1.99 a month to subscribe to get an audio book. The only reason I didn’t give this 1 star is because overall this app is neatly set out and I can easily read with no problems.

Nice access to older books. Nice library of books by authors out of copyright. Numerous works. Easily read. Could use more features to make it more like iBooks - e.g real pages, time & battery shown as you read, more easily sorted personal library. Obnoxious audio book ad opens every time I open the app. No way to make it go away.

Free? No.. I got this app because it said that I could have unlimited access to >50,000 books absolutely free. Somehow, however, I still have to pay them “1,99” a month (whatever that means) to borrow books. The description says the only cost is a “very small fee” for access to audiobooks! I would give this zero stars if I could.

First Try, Already Disappointed. It would be great to actually get the book you chose to read… Meditations by Marcus Aurelius is actually some history book about Spanish monarchs. It was the first book I downloaded so I’m already a bit let down. Hoping it gets better from here. I don’t much like getting catfished by a book app.

Want to love it.. Really appreciate the work put into this to have access to the books. However, it’s maddening to open a book to presented a facebook ad that will not and cannot be closed. The app has to be closed multiple times before I can open the book. I understand the need to make money, but this is idiotic.

How bad it is. I don’t think you should get this because when I tried to use the search speaker it didn’t let me put more than one word and I was trying to search for comic fantasy books because I’m into that and it won’t let me search it because it only is a one thing so I think it should be removed from the App Store

New update fixed the problem. This is my favorite app for reading.. Problem has been fixed.

no books. I wasn’t looking for any book in particular, just trying to find a good reading app that doesn’t cost money. I found this and thought it was fine but there is barely any books you’ve heard of. If that’s what you like than okay but in my opinion it’s just eh. I would normally expect there to be some bigger books but guess not I dunno

My library problems. I have had various versions of this app for years. In the past it has worked very well and i like being able to read classic titles. The newest upgrade however seems to have significant problems. For example, books get added to My Library i did not pick. The last time i opened the app around 100 titles were dumped in and more keep getting added. I did not search or pick any of these. Its time consuming to delete them and it makes it difficult to find the books i do want to read. Sometimes when i click to exit a title it exits the app. While effort was made to make the app look more attractive, the functionality seems to have gone down from previous versions. I miss the old versions of this app. Please fix the problems.

Nothing I wanted to read. I just got this app so I could read a book on my vacation and when I was trying to find a book to read I discovered they had none that I liked. I wouldn’t recommend this app to anyone like me who is very picky on what they read because they don’t read a ton anyways but when we do find good books they are over in a second

Astronomical Battery Drain from this App. My subway commute is a little over an hour, I’ve found that watching downloaded netflix movies, playing phone games during that hour will at most take 10-15%off my battery. In comparison, an hour of this app for some reason - with cellular data, bluetooth and wifi turned off, and background apps closed - takes 50-60% of my battery life. This is devastating because I enjoy reading, and back when this app was Freebooks, it didn’t seem to drain as much of my battery life. 60% of battery life in an HOUR?! That’s ridiculous.

My books. I think you should put more scary books on there but you have so many nice books

Terible. I went to find a book that I was looking at that was $5 on Apple Books but when I went to look here it was never there. I am very disappointed in this book app and that it is more of old fashion books.

An Explanation of Why the Books Aren’t Recent. People. Recently published books are copyrighted. The reason the books in this app are available and free to read is because they’re so old, there is no longer a copyright on them. You really thought you’d be able to read Harry Potter in a free book app? Seriously?

Copy feature; page formatting. Many words aren’t found in the dictionary, and it would be handy to be able to copy foreign words or phrases to plug into Google Translate for translation. Page formatting (and chapters) leaves a lot to be desired. Just finished Middlemarch and found it impossible to figure out where I was in the book and how much remained. Page “breaks” seem to be in awkward places and errant touches on the screen can send you to far off chapters.

Frustrating App. I loved this app because I love old books, but many of the books I’ve read in the app have duplicate pages then missing pages. So I trudge over to Gutenberg or Archives, search for the book, then find the page that’s missing so I can read it. Now I find myself downloading books from Gutenberg to avoid the frustration.

this is a sales app for an AUDIObooks subscription. You may find some regular books here. But by and large this is an AUDIObooks app. You can’t search books only, and the vast majority of hits are bleeping audio books that ask you if you want to subscribe. How incredibly annoying, I just want to READ. Also, totally false advertising as to what this app actually is.

Quirky titles. A real eclectic collection of historic and family books that gives an insight into real lives and documents. Love this app! Recently opening ap it wants to update. As soon as it reaches 63, it shuts down on my iPhone. I’ve done every update, so am wondering what is stopping this ap May be a lack of current comparability. Posting here as no other links to assistance are working. Fine on an old iPad that can no longer be updated. Hmmmm....

The best and worst. Have been using it for years but this last month all it has been doing is giving “can’t’ reach the server” message. Despite all the updates and fixes that I did, the same message keeps blocking me from downloading even one book. I encourage you to download it and try. Please report the issue if you have one, so we can help their tech support team to fix it as soon as possible. Let’s keep reading!

I didn’t relize that this app would be originals like divergent series doesn’t exist Harry Potter non-existent The maze runner not there I thought that this app would have those kind of books not the classical original books. I was very exited to read a book I’ve been wanting to read for a while and it wasn’t there I tried so many different searches and the books I wanted were not there I am sorry but u guys need to put more modern day books in there instead of classics.

Annoyed. Nothing is quite so annoying as getting half way through a book just to see it suddenly disappear from the list. Add to that the frequent and lengthy ads that get worse and worse. Initially, the ads were tolerable. Now, they are vexing. When I first downloaded this app, it was nearly a five star app. But it has plummeted down to two stars. I will be removing it and using the kindle app from now on.

Good resource. I’ve had this app for a very long time. It is a good resource for classic old, older, and oldest books that are out of copyright. It’s great to have when something is referenced that you don’t know enough about. These are important works because everything we read has these as their foundation. Many are harder to read because they are on a higher, more intellectual level, as were most writings of the past. Also, the grammar, the way of writing and speaking, has changed dramatically in just the last 100 years. That adds another level of difficulty. This is an awesome app and every time I open it I am grateful that it is still working and being updated. Thank you!

My Books. I'd say it's a great way to enjoy a little time to have peace. It's great for blank times and when you want to read. Easy to use yet fun. 10/10

Hi. Amazing app but I have a few book suggestions so maybe Erin Hunter warrior cats like bluestars prophecy and all the other ones had it but this one doesn’t so please add the series of warrior cats to it

Good when it worked. For the past short while, I have been unable to get the app to open at all. Half-way through Don Quixote (and loving it), but now unable to finish. I click on the icon, and the app opens up for about a half second and then disappears. I am using an iPad Pro, so it should not be an issue with out-of-date operating system In the app store, the link to support is broken - only get an error message. It is tough to fix a problem if you cannot get in touch with the developers….

Good. I can read my books anywhere!!I really enjoy this free app. So many different categories of books to choose from..

Downloading issues. I enjoy this app because I love to read older books but I recently decided to download some audio books for car rides but it won’t let me download any of the books even after I paid the monthly subscription. Please help me out if you can? Thank you

Just found this. So, I haven’t read a book or listened to an audio yet. However I am amazed at the number of selections. What a golden opportunity to read the classics I have missed up to this point.

Love the books, but needs to fix a serious bug. I’ve read quite a few books on this app over the last few years. I’m finally writing this review hoping they will fix the biggest bug they have. Every 20 pages or so, it will duplicate a page (sometimes more than once). When you scroll past the duplicate, it has skipped a page in the story. I wouldn’t mind the duplicates if they didn’t replace another page. I really love the ability to read classic literature for free, but I would like to read all of it.

Missing critical components. I’ve only had the app for a couple days and I was really happy about the “pay once” that was relatively cheap for all of the audio books. Having only gotten half way through one audio book, I’ve been REALLY frustrated by the facts that - I can’t pause the audio and can only stop it by closing the app - I can’t place book marks to save my place anywhere so I’m always shutting the app to talk for half a second then spending five minutes trying to find where I was - when a chapter ends, the automatic continuation skips a chapter and I have not realized that before and missed big plot points by skipping entire chapters. Even though those are the only things I’ve seen, they’re driving me crazy. I am NOT one to complain and be negative, but I really want this fixed. Why bother having a pause button if I can’t use it??

Free Books?. I’ve started to read three different classic books. When I’ve read three to five chapters the book is no longer available, when I return to continue. So, I open another book. When I try to contact support I receive “403” or “404,” unavailable. Same with asking questions. “Unavailable.” For the past ten days to two weeks the phrase, ‘we are trying hard to ....’ Well, I don’t believe the app. will ever perform as designed. This is extremely disappointing, considering classic literature has provided so much enjoyment in the past. The lack of an explanation is mystifying. I would not recommend downloading or using this app. at this time. I can only hope whatever problem exists will be solved. The loss of such treasures is truly disheartening.

Disappointing changes. I had several books downloaded only to go back and found they were removed. Went to search, to replace them because I was ready to continue the series, and realized they have been replaced by audio versions, which I have to subscribe to. One, I don't like, want or need audiobooks and two, if I have to subscribe, it's not free. That was the whole point of adding this app, unlimited FREE access to Classic Literature. This used to be a favorite app, which is saying something because I prefer actual books to digital ones, but not so much anymore.

Kind of upsetting. I downloaded this app because my iBooks app wasn’t working. I was disappointed to find out that a lot of my favorite books were not on there. It was surprisingly good. I would recommend this app if you want some quick reads. If you’re not the type of person who likes to read classics, don’t waste your time.

Well done. I enjoy the classic audio books here. The selection is good. I just wish there was a sleep timer option as I like to fall asleep listening to books but it don’t want them running all night as I sleep.

All books. I just delete the app after finishing a book and reinstall thanks for tip on getting full page

Duplicate pages. Great asst of books but every single books has numerous duplicate pages and each duplicate page is a page missing from the story. You will be reading a good part of the story and get 4 or 5 duplicate pages and then miss the best part of the story.

My books. I really do enjoy “my books”. However, with the last two updates and using my iPad 2, it’s almost impossible to delete books that I have read or decided not to read. Fault is there are no instructions as to use the application. A year or two ago I had no problems with the application. Please help to make it better.

Really enjoy. I really really enjoy this app I don’t have a problem with that I don’t like reading but I need to so I downloaded like 10 reading apps so I could find one that fit me so this was the one as soon as I went on to the app I loved it I’m on my first book and it’s great!!

Love / Hate My Books app. I love the app and agree with review above from August. However, some changes were made recently. The pages no longer scroll up; you need to swipe side to side. AND pages are missing!! When you swipe to the next page the page number progresses but the text is repeated. You swipe back then forward and the next page is skipped, losing a whole page of the book. This is happening on book title “Grace Harlowe’s Senior Year at High School” by Jessie Graham Flower. I ask that someone look into this. Thank you.

Great source for classic books. I’ve read a lot of the old science fiction and other classics and I love the app. However after I read a few pages the app will repeat a page followed by skipped pages. The only way I can see the missing pages is to select a very small font, this needs to be fixed.

Summer reading.. This is good for summer reading and you don’t have to buy anything just give your child a iPad then let him read a bit then your done it’s a perfect app

Doesn’t have popular books. This app doesn’t have almost any popular or new books. I wanted to read a very popular book that came out in 2018 and when I searched for it, it wasn’t there. Then I thought “okay well maybe it just doesn’t have new books” and so I searched up “the hunger games”, a book that almost every book store and app has, and it didn’t even have that. It’s great that everything’s free but if you’re looking for something newer then I would not recommend this app.

Finally found the new app. I’ve had the free books app for years and the last 12 months it hasn’t worked. I just found this today and will hopefully be reading again. Love the range of the old app and am looking forward to seeing the new titles and having a look at the audio book range too. Please have a link on the old apps when you try to open them. I bet I’m not the only person who was lost.

One of the Best Apps you can have.. This just such a great app to have. Chock full of great titles for adults and kids. Great for holidays, off to bed or anywhere that you can't decide what book to take.......well take a hundred classics. You can't go wrong!

More women writers please. Not enough women writers. I want and expect to see at Least fifty percent of women writers. It is so old fashioned and unbelievable that in this modern age men are still more represented than women.

One of the best. I'm a HUGE reader, and have a lot of books and book-related apps. Even comparing this to a lot of the paid apps available, this app is easily one of the best I've discovered to date. I'm so happy I found it - there's a great selection of books covering a multitude of topics. Absolutely worth the download. <3

Excellent. Great to able to catch up with old friends that I don't see in bookstores. I enjoy the history, politics, and the philosophies that you have to offer. One thing you do need is more conspiracy books, such as "holy blood and holy grail" or illuminati and new world order books. But I still have a lot to read of which I have. Thank you for the free books though.

Incomplete. Was disappointed that the first book I accessed in the app clearly had missing sections. The text would jump from half way through a sentence to the start of a new one. At other times, whole pages appeared twice. Very frustrating.

Fantastic app. This app has exceeded my expectations! There is a huge selection of books to choose from so I can always find something new to read. My only feedback to the app designers would be to allow zooming in on the books and to make it easier to search specific titles. Other than that awesome!

Book. Love the New Look! Great improvement. Reasonable selection and I keep looking for more. Most of the books have no way to choose a chapter or story. The icon that should give a choice of content or chapter, gives just the bookmark. So I can read only from page 1 through the book, I cannot choose to read a story from the contents. Updates come but this application is too frustrating to bother with.

good ideas. I wasn't sure if this would really deliver, but so far, so good. I enjoy being able to read on the go, and this app allows that, without the need to carry extra materials. Bring on more titles. It's cool!

Free Books. The title says it all really, whether you wish to read The Republic or Around the World in Eighty Days this is the app to download. I've downloaded and read around thirty books now saving myself a small fortune that I would have otherwise have spent on reading material.

This is good however it’s limited.. I couldn’t find any updated books. Although this one is good since it’s free, but I want something new.

I can't find books like these anymore, and I'm not allowed to borrow books from a nearby library (I'm too young to go to a library myself and my parents won't drive me there) so this app is really helpful to me. I do hate reading books from my phone, however I'm really grateful you made this app as now I can read as much Brontë and Lewis Carrol as my heart desires. Thanks!

Ms. These books are excellent! Classics all. Am having a wonderful time working my way through them. Most are titles I have always wanted to read but never had the time for, now they are at my fingertips whenever I feel like them.

My take anywhere library. I love this app... Download some unusual classics and you always have something to read when the net is down or you have no space to pack a physical book. I have enjoyed Jack London's less well known works and now I am exploring Dickens.

Great to have free literature but app function can improve. Thanks for the amazing collection of free books! However, if the app would reopen to the book and page I was previously reading it would be so much less frustrating to use. Guess I'm used to the Kindle functionality and I'm hoping for that here. Amazing. This app is absolutely amazing

Great, for a little while.... Don't know if others are having my problem but the app seems to get stuck on the loading screen. I have no issue with everything else, it's simple, with a well enough collection of books. The app works for a couple of weeks, normally before it gets stuck on the loading screen, I've had this happen to me twice...and I don't enjoy loosing my previous chapters because I have to reinstall.

Look for a better app. I used Free Books for years & it was wonderful. This app replaced it & it has so many issues it just isn’t worth the both. I’m off to find an alternative.

Great app. Has a great selection of very interesting books, many i've always thought about reading. The layout is not as nice as iBooks, but the new upgrade is fantastic. The landscape view was much needed.

The book app. You need to have all the audio books of more kids books because I am 12 and I try to find books but I can’t find them.

Used to be good. Was great but since the new update it crashes, cannot get past the front page (can't get into library) and can't access anything when not in wifi, which defeats the purpose of having it on my iPad to read on the train. Used to be able to download at home and read later. Also when I updated it wiped some books from my library which I was half way through. Before the update, it was fine!

Everything old is new. A great app. All the classic books that you have heard of, but never got around to reading - and all free! Easy to use, nice layout and best of all lots of free books to enjoy, either for the first time, or all over again.

free books. this is an excellent program for old books. The only drawback is that some classics are in ancient languages and are not marked that way. The foreword will usually be in English. So you read the foreword and then can't read the actual text. Apart from then, it is excellent.

Just ok.. Great idea but rubbish app. Ads are particularly annoying. It crashes without warning and doesn't even bookmark. Can do better.

Free books. Since coming to free books I have been impressed with the number of titles available as well as being able to read some of the classics of literature which otherwise would not be possible. The site is easy to navigate, selection is simple and the download fast. Congratulations must go to the people who have obviously spent many thousands of hours preparing books for such distribution. I give this site a 5/5.

Tom jones. A great old comedy I am still reading it for the second time and will probably read it again. The old fashioned English is a little hard to get used to but persist and you will be reading a very entertaining book. The characters are well drawn though the adventures are a bit far fetched. There are a lot of quotes in Latin but as they are mostly explained by the author reading is not too much interrupted by them.

Needs more kids books. Plz

Pride and prejudice. I think free books is a great idea. It's also a wonderful way to get children to read, classics included. For kids who always have to have an electronic gadget in their hands, then downloadable free books certainly helps them to have the best of both worlds.....great literature and electronics in one.

Probably the best free app ever. As an avid reader and educator, this was the best free app I've stumbled across. Everything from the attractive interface and numerous features, it shows the promise of becoming the best reader for iPad. As other reviewers noted, I urge the excellent operators behind this to make some arrangements with publishers to include some paid more current books. (Still I'm not holding any stars back on the anticipation that you are working on this already.) I absolutely, without reservation recommend this app and its in-app additions (particularly the audio book feature) to all serious readers. We must support efforts like this. Tell everyone that you know. I know I will... Well done.

Brilliant. This is a fantastic free library! I download only the books I want at the time, from a huge collection, they're easy to read on the go and I can download more in moments. I'll be using this app often for years and years to come.

Review thingy.. I love this app as it lets me listen and read to some great classics. Classics being the key word. They don’t have the widest range of books, mainly older ones. There are not very recently made books on the app, or books for younger kids.

Great functionality and look. I love how easy it is to bookmark your pages, the in book ability to share your rating and review of the book, but best of all, getting to read what others get from the books. I am about to read a book that hasn't been reviewed but it looks like a fun one and am looking forward to sharing my thoughts with others.

It should have more but I like it. This is a fantastic app but there should have Childers books this app only has people talking for you for the kids overall though it is a amazing free fantastic app and I recommend using this

excellent range, great service to readers. The classics and more modern books cover a huge range I have particularly liked being able to access Shakespeare's Hamlet while I have been travelling because it has enable me to work with students by correspondence, when it would not otherwise have been possible. Thanks for a great app!

Nice collection of classic books for free. The books are a wide variety of classics from many genres. The reader itself is easy to use. Many of the book titles have an interesting cover design and a brief, descriptive blurb / description of the text to preview. a fantastic free app, especially for students and lovers of historical and classic books. I use it often.

Not enough modern books. I tried searching for a series but couldn’t find it, when I looked closer all I found was a book about Harry Houdini :D Overall: kinda in the middle

Wonderful. Just started reading the count of montechristo and loving it! Fabulous assortment of books to choose from. I fell asleep reading the other night and thinking that maybe a paperback is best for bedtime (don't want to break the iPad!)... Seriously though, this app is wonderful - thank you to those who took the initiative to create it!

a fair start. I also have a sony e reader which is more portable and softly lit, such that, it approximates paper and resembles old skool reading. Having said that, the color and light (allowing a reading in bed without a night light) are what i enjoy about this. It could be greatly improved if the literature was hyperlinked to dictionaries, biographical material, and literary criticism: tap a sentence and get the english translation of a latin phrase or vice versa, find out what the experts think etc. After all this is hypertext and i don't feel you're using it to the full potential. Rather have that kind of thing than imitation bookshelves.

App crashes, no support. Previously wrote a raving review about this app several months, but I’ve updated the app and it crashes whenever I try to open a book I’ve downloaded already from wifi. Previously it worked wonderfully, but when I recently updated the app, it won’t let me open ANYTHING. when I try to contact support, lo and behold, it crashes and when it redirects to the support page, the web page doesn’t exist. I’ve tried updating my entire phone in case it was an iOS compatibility thing, but to no avail. I’ve paid for all of the extras on this app, and I’m not happy at ALL seeing as I only got to read a couple books before it just glitched.

Delightful app. This is a wonderfully designed app, with speedy and fun access to thousands of free public domain titles. The only thing stopping me from giving it 5 stars is the title. "Free Books - 23,469 classics to go." It's so long and clumsy, it sounds down market, which the app certainly is not. I also don't like seeing the word Free on my iPad. I would suggest something like Public Library or Open Books!

Amazing. I love this app! Every book is free, the app is so easy to use and.. Every book is free (I know I said that already) My only problem is that there are not a lot of books, I am a child and there are a few books I still need to read (like Mark Twain and Charles Dickens) but can there be some more authors that I have heard of like David Walliams or Enid Blyton? Thanks for this amazing app!

Sensational!. I love this app. All my favourite books are here at my finger tips and I have created a list of books that are on my reading bucket list. I would like to see the page numbers on the bottom of each page so I know where I am up to, especially if I drift off without bookmarking the page. I hate how quickly the iPad can flick through the pages if you accidentally touch the side of the screen.

An excellant app. I have travelled extensively over the world in the last two years and carry my IPad with me for two reasons. One being for the ease of using the Internet and the other for the use of this app. I find that the selection of books is extensive and the variety most pleasing. I particularly like the shorter books that I can read in the planes and generally finish in one trip. With the different time zones when I want to relax before going to sleep I can always look into my book downloads and find something to read. I think it is a marvelous app and I have no hesitation in recommending it to all. Keep the books coming.

To be admired. You have done a great service to book lovers, and to people who don't yet know they will enjoy a good book, particularly some of these classics. We have all been distracted in recent years by online content, and much of it is good, but we tend to browse snippets of information, rather than actually read. And while we are reading, slowly and thoughtfully, we are learning, resting, relaxing and, perhaps most of all, not fighting with each other. Well done.

Very bad they. Don’t even let YOU choose the topic. Ex : I wanted to read mafia books but it only spells out someone has read like 5 times

Good Selection of Classics Mixed with Goofy Stuff. I enjoy most of what I have downloaded. Sometimes the classic books have weird formatting but hey it's free!

The Update Sept 30 SUCKS!. The new update SUCKS! I liked the old format. Book out of my library have disappeared!! ALSO I paid for the audiobooks YEARS ago and now I have a 30 day trial!!!! And the advertisements!! What the heck.?? Not happy at all with this crap!

Decent for a free app. There's a decent selection of books if you like reading classics. It'd be nice if they were organized if a different way but hey, it was free.

Knowledge should be free. I'm extremely pleased with this app. It's a lot better than what I had expected. Compared to previous free ebooks vie downloaded for my ipod touch, which were mainly stories in a nutshell, this one is complete and carries a wide selection of classic novels and famous titles. I found one the books im currently carrying with me to work to read in this library. No more bulky paperbacks anymore!

Crashes and no support. I’ve had this app for years and loved reading the classics. However, now the app crashes constantly and the links for the developer’s website and support go nowhere.

Pretty cool. It a pretty cool app, I love reading the classics, although it has some problems with crashing randomly, usually when you turn it to the side.

Good app. On feature I would like to see is if it could keep the book your reading up, instead of having to go to library and reopen it each time.

Love it!. I love the old classics and enjoy this app very much. My only complaint is I can’t figure out how to get the books to sync together from my iPhone to my iPad so I can just pick up either and read. But other than that - I love love these old books!

Worst upgrade ever for a useful app!. Simply devastating move from a nice to most ugly interface, with ad right in the middle; all my bookmarks lost, apparently. It was a better app than new Apple's iBook; now for some reasons it turned to complete basket case.

Wonderful!. Free Books! Cool! I have had no problems with the stability of this program. Scrolling along the top pane reveals many categories of books... So there probably are the some 23,000 books that the write up claims to be available from the app and yes, they would be public domain books over 75 years old. The books are clearly readable. The interface is easy. That said... This app would benefit from being able to bookmark (beyond keeping your place in the book) or highlight passages, and being able to copy passages from the books. Dream feature... Read the book out loud the way Kindle can do it, so I can make progress on the book while doing other things. This is a great app. Thanks to the authors for making this available.

New update is bad. It’s a shame that you have to pay a monthly subscription to listen to the audiobooks now. A real shame. The free audiobooks were what made the app stand out...

Nope. There aren't any recent books as it promoted and i couldn't find a single book i liked until i searched a book from the 1800s

Free library. As a free utility, I cannot understand why some of the reviewers have so much to gripe about. Get real people, I find the program easy to use and a joy.

The app seems ok.... How ever, I had searched for a few of my favourite authors. I wold not really recommend it.

NO VARIETEY. No books

App crashes for the newly updated version. I know it’s a good app since there’s a lot of classic books available but since this app was updated lately, it started crashing and can’t open any book that I want to read. Everytime I try to click a book, it turns black and then it crashes. I hope you fix this problem.

great but needs some adjustments. I don't know why but I can't listen to an audiobook and at the same time be on another app which I'd do before . Moreover when I leave an audiobook at 5 mn let's say and then I come back to the app it starts all over again. And now the surfaces is frozen when I'm on wifi ,can't do anything.

Great app for classics. Love this app! Theres so many cool books on here, I'm glad it exists. Some of these older works of art may be lost in the future, it's good I can find them here.

Difficult to read. I would love to give a five star rating, but it is so difficult to read as the text jumps up and down and then you need to scroll up or down to find your reading place again. The instructions how to get to your last place of reading is also not very clear and it took me a while to resume. Difficult to navigate the contents. Kindle. So much easier. Selection not modern titles or too few.

New stuff. Maybe add some books from this century too. That would be nice.

Great, but not as advertised.. They offer a large selection of classics, but I didn't see anywhere near 23,469 titles in their list. Expect to find most 19th and 20th century classics as well as a smattering of literature from antiquity. Also, the titles are categorized into a combination of author and subject simultaneously from the same top-level menu, which is a bit annoying. Still, worth a download for anyone trying to catch up on Western classics.

ok before update now broken. I've been using this app for years and liked it but since the update on my mini it doesn't work. Needs more fixing. It will download books but when I try to open one it kicks out.

Pity. It is no more Free Books, it is an advertising app with no consideration for the reader. You do not have control over settings. One star is too much. The old version was serious, the new is a joke

One Of The Worst Book Apps I’ve Owned. This app, kinda sucks. I might just be me but I didn’t read the description of the app, but there is only classic books here. I might not have explored the app long enough, but everything I saw, classic. I was looking for some more modern books, like Throne of Glass. Not very happy.

From crippled to dead. It was not displaying titles correctly after I upgraded to iOS 8. I did the update today and now it doesn't work at all. Sigh.

All the classics at your fingertips!. I love the fact that you can get a lot of the great classic authors, all under one app, and FREE. You’ll even find them in their original language sometimes for folks who want to brush up on their Foreign languages... Tolstoy, Vernes, Marx... the ex-libris section itself is nice.

Classics in a heartbeat.. I really like having such a variety of classic literature at my fingertips. I'm reading stories that I never considered trying to find in order to buy and read. Authors that I had only ever heard of. Amazing and free!

Have to buy audiobooks. I wanted an app to be able to listen to audiobooks for free when I find out that you have to buy a subscription.

Waste of Time. Unless you enjoy just reading random books you’ve never heard of (which is fine, just not my thing) this app will only frustrate you and waste your time. They don’t have any well known books at all, just a bunch of indie ones they probably pulled from WattPad

Won’t migrate my books. This program will begin to migrate my books from the old app and then will shut down. I don’t have access to the books I’ve already downloaded and can’t get the app to stay open to re-download them. This pretty much makes the app worthless.

Great app but... Great app for books but it every few chapters it skips a few pages so you miss part of the story.

Please fix deleting books from my library.. Cannot delete books in any organized manner.

Selections. It’s a great app. And I like the amount of books there are. But they need to have a kids section.

Free!. I enjoyed reading a few classic books, but there was no Nadeem books like I looked up Percy Jackson and others, but those books were not there, so if you are planning on getting this app, be warned it ONLY has classics.

Requires card even though it’s free. To begin reading a book you must create an account in do so you most provide them with your credit card number if it’s free why do they need that information

Not for me. This is more for older books that you would read in 5th grade because they are the classics but I’m looking for more newer and better books just not for me

Crashes. Since last update, the app begins “migrating” my books to new version and then crashes. Every time. I can’t even access the books previously downloaded. App is worthless now.

Won’t let you manage subscription. Very frustrated with app. I wanted to try the audio subscription but when I changed my mind there is no way to cancel it! I tried emailing and didn’t receive a response!

Perfect!. Keep up! Very good but update it regularly.. regardless of low downloads or reviews or whatever it will be all good in short time just don't give up I love its idea.

New version horrible. I have lost downloads from old version. Books in new version have missing pages and entire sections are missing. New scrolling method is cumbersome. Frequency of ads is bloody annoying! Search function is erratic. Not happy!

Important: it would be nice to have more fantasy fiction. You know like for younger generations to enjoy. Most of the books are not very adventurous or fantasy based and some of my favorites aren’t even included in the app.

Latest update is a couple of steps backwards. Highlight text function removed. Scroll up / down function rather than turn page left / right removed. Both were very useful accessibility functions. Please restore those functions.

Few Books. Don’t get me wrong, their are many books but they are all very old and boring. I like some of the classics but other than that... not good books.

Hated the app. I had the app downloaded for a whole half hour before deleting it. I couldn’t find any of the books I wanted to read and I searched up like 25 books and couldn’t find anything. Was totally disappointed with this app

Update ruined the app.. Lost Dropbox functionality, which was the main reason I had the app to begin with. This app WAS simple, easy to use, and allowed me to grab stuff from my ePub library. Now it isn’t worth the tile it occupies on my phone.

Variety. Good app I really enjoy the books on there just not a whole lot of authors or variety of the books and that’s kind of the down side of it
