Approach Guides Wine Guide for iPhone App Description & Overview

What is approach guides wine guide for iphone app? *** RATED #1 FOR WINE EDUCATION BY FOOD & WINE MAGAZINE!
*** The only mobile app dedicated exclusively to learning about wine, Approach Guides is used by professionals and consumers alike.
*** It’s not about wine ratings. You can get 100-point-scale wine ratings from many other sources. Rather, to give you information that will make you knowledgeable and able to communicate what makes wines unique, Approach Guides provides an in depth look at a wine region's grapes, appellations, and vintages.

WHAT THE WINE PRESS HAS TO SAY
• Food & Wine Magazine: “Only God (and Google) knows how many wine apps exist...Some are great, some not so much. But these seven are crucial." Approach Guides is the best for "Wine Lessons.”
• Decanter Magazine: "Dozens of apps offer background details on regions, varieties, and food pairings, but some are more accurate and usable than others. Approach Guides is the most complete and user-friendly. You can search by style, region, grape or food match, and entries are cross-referenced. It also supplies a guide to vintages for each region and plentiful maps..."

SUPPORTED WINE-PRODUCING REGIONS
The app supports — profiling all regions, appellations and grape varieties — Argentina, Australia, Chile, France, Germany, Italy, New Zealand, Portugal, Spain and USA (Sonoma, Napa, Washington State and Willamette Valley). We expect to add support for South Africa in 2017.

Great app!. Best I've found to date. Keep updating to stay on top. Excellent. Thank you.

Best App investment yet!!. Unlocked the complex world of Italian wines for me and helped me pick fantastic wines for less...best investment in an app so far!!! A+ Can't wait for more countries!!

Almost all of Italy is missing!!!!!!!!. Just downloaded he app and it has almost no italian wines except from Tuscany! The Spanish wines are complete. What happened?

Keeps getting better. App updates keep coming, thank you!!!

Great resource for the amateur sommelier!. The interface is slick and intuitive, and there is a wealth of information that can be accessed through a number of criteria such as name of grape, name of region, food pairing, etc. Highly recommend

Useful app for trying new wines.. This is my favorite wine app. Helps me find new wines to try, especially on complicated lists where I don't always know all of the grapes listed. Don't know why people give bad reviews for what is clearly stated in description, but oh well. Here are the things you need to know. 1) The app has been updated every 1-2 months with new content and features 2) the content is well-researched and has taught me a lot (e.g. I didn't know that Napa had so many micro-climates nor how/why they affect the character of the wine). Buy this app. You won't be disappointed and will definitely improve your wine knowledge. 5 STARS!!!!!

One of my favorite apps. Use this app all the time. Great to quickly learn about a wine I'm drinking or, with the new discover section, find new wines to try. Five stars.

Esoteric wine intelligence with no practical use. This app may be good for people who are already semi-experts on wine (making, tasting, selecting), but it is of absolutely no use whatsoever for the casual wine lover looking to gain a little extra insight into particular labels or varietals. If your goal is to discover new favorites or grow your appreciation for particular bottles, then find another app. The information in this one is so esoteric it is basically pointless.

Not bad, but not great. Very much needs fact checking. For example: It should be noted the Priorat Region of Spain within Catalonia is a DOQ, not a DO. In fact, it's the only DOQ in Catalonia. Also, where are the German wines??

Not worth more than .99 cents. Poor image quality. Pictures and text are blurry and hard to read. Not compatible with newest IPad display.

Great before the recent change. This is for people who are serious for learning about wines of the world. Best wine app available for wine professionals. The programers are always developing new regions. It takes time because they are thorough! 5 stars!

Useful. It's great! And to think that I got it when it was once free!

<^>. Good AP to use as a quick reference. It would be even better if they add German wines.

Promise. The fact that there are only Italian and Spanish wines in this app is a big limitation for a novice wine drinker looking to gain a more sophisticated knowledge of a broad range of wines that might be commonly available in the US. I am assuming geographic areas will be added with further updates. In the meantime, the general information about grapes, and the descriptions of wine terminology and concepts are helpful irrespective of the selection of wines the app has (for now).

It's getting better and better!. Congrats David! :-)

As always another great update!. I have been looking for a wine app that actually worked for a long time and I think this one is just about perfect.

Nice app. Bought this app when it first came out. It's pretty useful. I would give it 5 stars but still waiting for Portuguese wines and Retina Display support.

Fantastic App and Reference. I use this app at work for quick reference or just in my spare time if I'm trying to study a particular grape or region and I'm mobile. The customer support is quick and useful, the information is up to date and as accurate as anything can be these days with the changing wine world, and the ease of reading of the content breaks things down into less intimidating segments. Even if I find myself knowing plenty of information about a specific topic, there's always a neat fact or viewpoint I encounter while using this app that changes my perception or increases my knowledge base. I wish they would make an app for beer and spirits, because that's my next step after some wine studying (or if it exists and I didn't see it, it'll be my next purchase!). Thanks y'all, keep it up! Best wishes and I appreciate your efforts.

Best app to learn how to enjoy wine. I've been using AG Wine since it only featured Italian wines. AG continues to deliver smart and usable information about selecting wine without getting bogged down in labels. The app is best for those who want to appreciate wine and learn about its context.

What??! No France?. Great app overall but lacking one of the most important countries.

Great design, more data please. Great but keep it coming

Very handy!. Owned this app for a while...new country updates released regularly, so I am happy. All around, very well done!

Amazing!!. Wow!! This app is AMAZING!! Before, I felt overwhelmed by the selections at some restaurants and stores. I usually just picked a mid-priced wine, crossed my fingers and hoped for the best. After I downloaded the app, I felt way more confident when choosing wines. I have more fun trying new wines and have found some I really love (and am saving money at the same time!!) I am disappointed by some of the reviewers on here for giving a low rating for something the developers clearly state in their description! For any wine drinker – this app is definitely for you! Enjoy!! **Updated 12/11** I have been using this app since it first came out and I just have to say that it keeps getting better and better with every update from the developers. By using this app, we have explored a variety of new wines and regions we had never tried before. Thanks for helping us pick a great (& inexpensive) wine - every time!

Wine site review. Great!!! Helpful even when standing at the wine store and wondering what to buy.

CCWiner72. The application is very informative but it would have been nice to get suggestion of wines we can buy from our local wine shops.

Disappointed So Far. I just bought this app, but I don't think I'm the only one who was suprised to find that it only listed Italian and Spanish wines. Since I drink more West Coast, Chilean and Australian wines I'm not sure how useful I am going to find this app.

fantastic app for italian wine. this is a great app for both beginner wine enthusiasts and even for those more versed in italian wines. we frequent italian restaurants in NYC so we find this especially useful. the nice part is you can start your selection process by style (red, white, etc.), grape (aglianico, nero d'avola, etc.), region (campania, toscana, etc.), and even by what food you are going to eat. once you narrow it down to a grape(s), you can check what years are good (vintage) and get a short (but detailed) description. lastly, the app is not trying to sell you any particular wine, like some of the other apps that basically guide you to an inventory of wine they are trying to sell. the approach guides wine app is all about helping the consumer make an informed choice to enhance their dining experience. hopefully more countries will be coming soon. i highly recommend this app.

Take it from me. This is an awesome app. I bought the app two weeks ago and have been recommending it to everyone in my wine bar. As with some oher people, I had the problem with only one country coming in, but I contacted the support team and they just told me to redownload the app and wait for it to fully load. It took a minute or so (I guess to get all the content in) and now works super fast and has all the information. Thanks to the team - keep the countries coming!

amazing app. I have been using (& loving) the Italian Wines that were part of the initial purchase. I can't believe the Spanish addition is included in the upgrade! I think this app speaks for itself when it has impressed a few (not just 1) sommelier at some great NY restaurants. I felt a little foolish pulling it out at first but then when I saw the response, I not only use it openly now but I've started sharing it with the tables next to me! The information is great and I have never been disappointed with a wine choice guided by this app. It has also helped me save money. In the past, if I didn't know the wine selection, I would buy something rather blindly in the middle price range. Now I choose based off of real, factual information and have often found some great deals on the lists. This is one app that does not disappoint!

Great!. I'm loving this app! I can't wait for the additional countries in future updates! This app really helps you learn about regions and different grapes to help you choose a bottle in a restaurant or at the store. Keep up the great work!

Only Italian and Spanish wines. That's it. That's all. If you want Italian or Spanish wine, this app is great. But it has nothing else at all.

Finally!. I've been looking for something like this forever. Living in California I trend local. This gives me some help when i want to experiment.

Crashtastic. Not even usable because it crashes continuously. Waste of money.

Outstanding resource!. Like a wine encyclopedia in your hand! Can't wait for future updates! :-)

Nice app, missing Germany?. Having lived in German wine country, I was disappointed not to find any German wines in this app. Otherwise, nice app, hoping to see more regions in the future.

Mediocre. Very limited information to effectively order wine in a restaurant - poorly thought out app.

Best wine app. I downloaded this app to start learning about wine. It's perfect at a wine shop or dinner. Even my friends want to know what the app says about what we're drinking...a wine lesson at dinner! Definitely a must have.

South of France.....my favorite wine region!. I love the new additions!

Useless. Little to no relevant Information. I was an idiot not to look how old the reviews were. Hasn’t been updated, waste of money.

AG Wine App Gets A++. I'm an average Jane whose knowledge of wines would merit a failing grade. But this app is like paying the class valedictorian to take the SATs for you, who in turn aces it and gets you into the Ivy Leagues. Never again will lack of knowledge make me pass on that wine list. The AG Wine app--so easy to use with it's extensive expert reviews of (so far) Italian wines--makes me feel confident about wine selection. A pocket sommelier!

Great Wine Application. Congratulations on launching a successful app! It clearly brings knowledge of great and oftentimes untapped wines to everyone from beginners to enthusiasts who are looking to diversify their selection of Italian wines. It has also already paid for itself. Looking forward to the addition of other countries.

Not bad, but needs more countries.. Not a bad app but if you are charging for this then more countries are a must. With the addition of more countries adding more stars.

Love it!. Super informative! I love that you can pick a wine based on food. Great app!!

Excellent for starters and seasoned as well!. This app provides abundant information to understand wines which may be quite complex due to their wide ranging methods of classification. Classifications by grape name and region in this app really add to 101 on wines. The regions covered are quite comprehensive with details on the geography which gives you an idea about the conditions favourable for different grape varieties. All in all, I think that this app provides the new wine enthusiasts enough to learn about and the experts may add to their knowledge of new wine growing regions. Excellent and highly recommended!

Now I'M a wine "Smarty Pants"!. Here’s a wine app that actually helped me become more knowledgeable about wine! I was so tired of getting locked into the names of certain wine producers when I went to the liquor store or a restaurant. It was either buying the same old stuff, or I was asking myself “what the heck is that”? This wine app actually helps you sort it all out without relying on the labels on the bottle! Yeah!!! I’m now beginning to understand the names of wine regions, and the names of different grapes I like. It’s very freeing!! I love it!

That's all?. In the world of wine a two country limit seems myopic - would be great if we could pull/download regions and countries of interest.

Recommended. Clearly a wine app you'll want to use if you are a wine enthusiast with a bad memory like me!

A guy. Pretty useless unless learning that Bordeaux and Priorat make good red wines but that they can be expensive is news to you. Oh, and that they make some "world class" sherry in Sherry. Odd choices abound with sparkling section listing cremant and cava but no Champagne. Nothing on key areas of Burgundy and Champagne in a wine app? Give me a break. Almost no producers mentioned by name..... Maps almost useless.

about this app.. I wish a refund. There are only two wine country in the world? is this a joke.

An excellent reference tool, with more regions added regularly. There is a fair amount of impatient criticism of this app from 2010, when it was rolled out and only covered a limited range of countries and regions. Ignore it. AGWine promised new regions would be added and over the past year they've done exactly that. If you have any questions what it covers, go to the AGWine website. I use it primarily to help me identify what years were good for which regions and I've been totally pleased at what I got for my money. (And I rarely pay for apps.)

Very useful!. This app offers a lot of information on wine from many places in the world. It also matches food with wine which is great!

Rubbish. This app does not list any actual wines. I feel conned into paying for nothing. Does not rate anything. Only gets one star so I can post this review.......

An excellent pocket wine encyclopaedia. Very informative, comprehensive guide to a good number of the worlds wine regions and grape varieties. Very good coverage of Burgundy. An excellent pocket wine encyclopaedia.

Disappointing - does not include Canada. I downloaded this app as part of the free promo but was very disappointed to see that Canada is missing from wine regions. We have a few very prominent wine regions that are not at all listed.

What's with all the hate?. I bought this app way back when there were only 2 countries in it, now there's way more content not really found anywhere else. If you're looking for regional data, especially when doing wine tours in France, say, this is a great app!!

What about other countries???. I was excited about this app but found out that it only discusses wine from Italy or Spain. There are so many other great wine regions that this app missed out on. Very disappointing.

Very good app. A good guide to wine regions and grape varietals. More regions are being continually added.

Bad. This app is bad.

crashes!. Just updated to v5.3 and it crashes EVERY time I try to access data. Too bad because I had used the previous version a lot. I immediately deleted the updated one and synced with my desktop to reinstall the older version.

don't bother. This app might help the novice that does not appreciate the difference between the varietals, but it ends there. There is zero information to assist in selecting wines between producers. Disappointing.

Waste of money. I thought this would be cool but waste of my money. This was a Spanish wine app ONLY there was nothing about Italian wine. Only one region. ???? Waste of money

Gota get it. Great app

No Germany. I don't like it. Too specific / narrow in scope. I did not notice until after purchase that no German wines.. Limited countries. Insufficient information. I discarded it on day 1.

Missing!. This app is missing other very important AVA's of the world!

Great app. What a great tool. This is a great app.

Not great. Ditto, only Italian and Spanish wines, disappointed.

Y. Not what it says. Waste of money. No washington or Oregon wines

Cheap wine in 2 countries.. What a joke.

Just because a wine region only produces 700 million bottles.... There is no Bordeaux ?!
