Beautiful program for reading information from on-line. It’s in my top 5 most used iPad apps!!!!. If you have not tried this app, you must try it out! It's very graphical and pretty on my retina iPad and my 12.9” iPad Pro. Generally works very smoothly. Could cache the data a little better / faster, I've got fast internet at home, but sometimes it's slow updating and if I just spent a while reading the last entry, seems like it could read ahead a little bit, it could make the experiences so much better... BUT be careful if you have a cellular connection! FlipBoard (being so graphical and beautiful) is a HUGE a data hog (assuming you're viewing something graphical and not text) so if you're on a low data plan be careful. I used over 10% of my 250MB data plan in less than 5 minutes (I tested this again at the end of this month, just a few minutes and 50MB of data was gone!). This is NOT a flaw, it's just the way super graphical apps are, but it goes SO fast I wanted to point it out. Because of the retina display it "shrinks" some graphics too small (like animated GIFs in Tumblr pages) and it's too hard to read. Needs some user adjustment on that (what size to shrink to retina proportions) and to size text. It shrinks things WAY too far on the iPad Pro. It’s got a great search option that searches a variety of sources all at once. I don't think it's as useful on the iPhone for browsing, maybe if you went to a specific section, but I'm still not sold on that yet...

New update stinks.. I’ve been using Flipboard for many years, and it’s long been my favorite news reader app. That said, this most recent update completely reversed the UI, and for no apparent reason. It’s bad. And a few updates back something broke, and now, if I leave the app for even one second, to respond to a text or lock my phone to order a coffee for example, I lose my place— it’ll close out whatever I’m reading and go back to the intro page. It didn’t use to do this, it’s only been the last few months, and it’s obnoxious to the max. I really don’t love the idea, but if these changes aren’t reversed and things put back the way they were for YEARS, then I’m probably going to switch to Apple News. I don’t want to do that, I’ve always been loyal to Flipboard, but these recent changes serve no purpose other than to frustrate and annoy. Fix it, guys. And while you’re at it, maybe let’s finish the desktop versions of the app as well for Windows, Mac and Linux? I won’t hold my breath on that one, but PLEASE at least undo these terrible changes.

Ads, Ads & more Ads. Have had flipboard since it debuted in App Store. I used to enjoy the different articles and topics. But, in the last several months, it has gotten much worse (to point of thinking of deleting the apps on both my iphone & ipad). Main Issue: Ads after each article or every 2 articles. Then the constant pop up videos. It makes the experience infuriating and exhausting to read and scroll just for a few articles. Flipboard, like many apps, can't understand, nor find the balance in advertising. Flipboard, clearly, is trying to maximize (advertising) revenue to the detriment of losing many (& majority) of their long-term consumers. I hope flipboard corrects and alters the amount of ads. I read flipboard responses to bad reviews that you can X out pop up ad etc. That is a ridiculous response. You think us consumers want to spend the majority of time trying to minimize your advertising so we can read articles?

Flipboard No Longer A Viable App. I have used Flipboard from the time it was introduced. Until it was introduced, I used Zite to look up content for the areas I was interested in. I hated to give up Zite but it was designated for EOL status as an app. I was happy with Flipboard as it provided me with the content I was interested in. But this all changed about eight months ago. Flipboard's algorithms for finding material has gone downhill. I find articles that no longer fit the areas that I am interested in. Despite numerous emails to Flipboard support, they have done absolutely nothing to improve their algorithms. I have as a selected area of interest, the New York Yankees. I constantly get articles from Flipboard concerning food, perfume, models, football in addition to the expected articles on the Yankees. This is also the case for other areas of interest. I know the app is free but if it doesn’t the content for areas you selected, it is no longer a good app. I decided to write this review before I delete Flipboard from my iPhone and iPad so others can avoid this app.

“Comments”. Flipboard is great. However...they may want address how many user comments are legitimate thoughts written by actual readers. Many comments connected to articles appear to be written by users with little or no flips, likes, or magazines...perhaps indicating no real investment into the app or no desire to actually read articles...they only want a venue to help foster disagreements. Many of these comments look purposely incendiary. Considering that many of these articles go on to be posted on Facebook or Twitter, Flipboard may want to do its part to curb bots and “fake news” and encourage legitimate discussion rather than fostering division. Commenters who actually have flips or magazines are few and far between, indicating an overwhelming number of commenters are not real accounts. Flipboard, please solve this, you have a responsibility to NOT contribute to division. Addition: The comments are now even more prevalent and, if you can believe this, more negative and divisive from both sides. These commenters haven’t even read the articles! It’s ridiculous! These are definitely bots or trolls meant to drive up anger. Flipboard replied to my last review that I could “report” these users. Are you kidding me!?!? I’d have to report ALL of them on every article. How is this responsible of you as a company?!?! What are you doing to curb this besides putting it on the onus of your legit users to “report” every single fake user?!?!

Good source for news, ads are a bit obnoxious. I specifically downloaded Flipboard because Apple News only shows premium news articles. I’ve used Flipboard on my Androids for many years. Great content, good relevance. My beef is the ads. I don’t mind the ads themselves, but I hate hate hate how you can’t help but accidentally click on them when scrolling. During my morning scrolling, I will accidentally open about 15 ads because the ads are way more sensitive to touch than the articles are. I then need to go and close all the open browser windows that are the same ad. It’s extremely annoying. The articles are nowhere near as sensitive to touch so I know this is a deliberate money making pay-per-click thing. I understand you gotta make your money somehow but this is excessive.

The Best. If nothing else, this app alone is worth getting an iPad for. Getting all your news in the coolest of ways makes this app useful beyond bounds. They're always adding new sources so it's always interesting. The presentation and view on the iPad is absolutely beautiful, but that's not to say its not great on my iPhone as well! I love this app! **Update** 24 September 2017 I wrote my original reviews of Flipboard ages ago when the app first came out. I have been a supporter ever since. However, since the previous major update, it was less intuitive and less attractive to use with its large cover page cards and bulky interface. Long-time users will be happy to know that that “traditional” Flipboard viewing experience is back and beautiful as ever for iOS 11! Love it again.

My new morning news app. I usually skim through headlines when I wake up to see what’s going on, but my issue with many news apps they Bombard your feed with useless stories and information, this app provides real headlines for a wide range of subjects and based off your reading habits will adjust your feed accordingly, the layout is also nice because it reminds me of a magazine in digital format which makes it very unique from other news apps. All in all I highly recommend to younger people who are tired of the dull dreary news apps of our parents time and are looking for something with a new and fresh interface but still provides legitimate news from accurate and trusted sources.

Where did my zite go..... It must have been over a year ago I wrote this but never sent. I would rather pay an annual fee ($10-20) and not have to deal with the invasive advertising. I like flipboard. .. "But I loved zite". Flipboard, It does a decent job of bringing many stories into a semi-cohesive binder. Having said that.... It does not flow.... Almost every step of the way through my daily reading I have to wrestle with pages turning when I don't want them to, leading to places I do not want to go, just frustrating enough to add sour to the experience. I see the same articles time after time being put as if they are new. No settings for when to retire stories after they have been read and in que for days. There seems no guidelines for how long a story can be front pages news after it has long been tired. While writing this the keyboard starts to cover what I'm writing that I have to hit return 8 or 9 times just to have a big enough gap to see what I'm writing. Please tighten up the quality of the reading details and software. I understand the need for advertising but in some instances it is a complete “cluster truck” of false leads to your article trying so hard to take you against your will to a false lead which is some disgusting trap article ad... Truly, I would rather pay a monthly fee and bypass this. Best, Pm

Good concept, annoying execution. I’ve been using Flipboard for years, and despite its issues, I’m too invested in it to move to a different platform, but I have to confess a glaring functional flaw. The auto refresh function is a huge disadvantage. Obviously, a refresh feature is something one wants for a media aggregator, but it’s extremely problematic in this case. It’s a frustrating pain when you see an article you want to read, but can’t find it after reading another article beforehand. But that inconvenience pales in comparison to the worst aspect: I cannot recall how many times I had to put my phone down in the middle of reading a long piece, and when I pick it up to resume reading, Flipboard has done a complete refresh, and if I can find the article at all (often I cannot), it takes a long, frustrating time. This is a major flaw for anyone who has the attention span required for articles which take longer to read than the length of a TikTok video. Really, there should be an option to have the application only refresh when it opens anew (as opposed to being tabbed back to from another application), or when the user directs it to. A long overdue functional amendment.

I wish there was a mechanism to pay a fair amount of money for content. I enjoy Flipboard, I find it quite helpful for staying informed. I think they should have a freemium model, perhaps they do and I just don’t know about it, where I can avoid any ads and I could actually pay for my content at some reasonable fee. I do not believe content should be free, journalists have to be paid as do press sources. Flipboard could be a good mechanism for amalgamating and having content paid for on the web, and an advertisement-free option should be available for this. As a disclaimer, I am not a journalist. It would not need to be an excessive fee, perhaps $100 per year, in that range but that could still be some source of revenue for content providers on the web.

Developers have abandoned the app (?). I’ve been a loyal fan of Flipboard for years, and it’s become one of my all time go-to apps, but the last few weeks has seen this app go from spectacular to garbage. I can view articles, but I can’t reflip any of them into my own magazines, so this is in effect nothing more than a Pinterest account without the ability to pin anything. I get this odd feeling that the developers have moved on to something bigger and better and left users of this app to effectively wither away. After updating my phone and my app, and after troubleshooting everything in every possible way (including deleting the app and redownloading it), I finally reported the problem last week. I got a message saying something like, “Yea, we know. It affects a small percentage of our users, and if we get it figured out, we will let you know.” Yet here we are. I’ve basically stopped using the app, and that’s disappointing since it had such a daily impact.

Totally ridden with advertisments!. Update Oct. 24, 2019: Again, although the format and style of this app is great, it is so filthy ridden within advertisements that it is rendered almost unusable. You often have to wait a very long time for an article to become readable as the multitude of ads and pop-ups load. Sometimes there are so many ads loading that the article hangs and never becomes readable. This is not necessary. Other apps, such as Microsoft News seem to be able to include advertising without interupting the articles or being intrusive. Flipboard authors try to blame this on external sites that they have no control over. Baloney! Clean this up Flipboard and you could be a model for a fine app. As it is, it stinks. ———————————————— I really like the format of this app. The sources of news for special interests seem unmatched. However, I am totally fed up with the constant bombardment of ads popping up all over the place often popping up over an article that I am trying to read. Often the way to dismiss the ads is not obvious and is very frustrating. Also, too many partial articles that are interupted by a statement that if you want to read the entire article, you need to subscribe to this source. There are too many competing apps out there that don’t subject you to this much advertising. I have finally deleted this app.

When will “Sign in with Apple” be available for Flipboard?. Love the app, but any five star app need “Sign in with Apple”. Displaying a Sign in with Apple button in your app or website means that people can sign in or sign up with just a tap using the Apple ID they already have, and skip filling out forms, verifying email addresses, and choosing passwords. Sign in with Apple provides a new, more private way to simply and quickly sign into apps and websites while giving people a consistent sign-in experience they can trust and the convenience of not having to remember multiple accounts and passwords. In cases where you choose to ask for a name and email address, people have the option to keep their email address private and share a unique, random email address instead. For developer guidance, see AuthenticationServices. Sign in with Apple makes it easy for people to authenticate with Face ID or Touch ID and has two-factor authentication built in for an added layer of security. Apple does not use Sign in with Apple to profile users or their activity in apps.

Flipboard is indispensable to me. I first installed Flipboard on my iPad in 2011. It was one of the first apps installed on my first iPad, and I’ve used Flipboard more or less every day since August 2011, through the present (February 2021). I find Flipboard indispensable to using my iPad. Flipboard’s staff skillfully curates a very broad range of news about current events and also features a huge variety of special interest magazines and articles, and is markedly superior to all other news magazine apps I’ve seen. I am often surprised by how quickly Flipboard posts news about current events, usually incredibly rapidly after the reported events have occurred or first appeared in source media. My iPad would be much less useful, and much less fun to use, if Flipboard were ever unavailable to me. Thank you Flipboard staff for making and maintaining such a great app.

Great App. Great app. I have one complaint tho. Clicking on a post notification should send you directly to that post. It's annoying to have to scroll through sometime hundreds of posts to get to the one in the notification. That's especially annoying when someone is responding to your post. It should go directly to the post, not just to the article. Update: Updated Flipboard on 9/20. It now crashes when I'm adding comments. Flipboard has never crashed before this update, now it crashes every time I write a comment on my iPad. So far the iPhone version is fine. I'm using This year's iPad Pro 12.9 inch 512 GB, cellular. Update 2: I received an email from Flipboard maybe because they removed of my comments. The email was awkwardly worded, but I’m guessing that was the case because it linked me to their policy on acceptable comments. I have no problem with that. The issue is that they never actually said what comment to what what article was removed. So now I really have no idea what the infraction was. I don’t know was it something that Flipboard randomly found and removed or was I reported by another user? Flipboard should in the future refer to the article and comment in question and give an opportunity for an appeal or something.

FLIPBOARD was great but is now going woke.. I have enjoyed and used flip board for news and science on my Ipad since I purchased the first IPAD Pro. Readers view allows serious reading without too many distracting popups. Conservative view gives a pretty good mix of real news without too much propaganda. However the management this last year has turned in your face woke. First they began to feed biased articles on climate change, pro abortion and radical sex politics. I reacted with a lot of thumbs down which worked in the past but now was ignored. Then I tried to remove the offending topics and found that they were now mandatory and could not be removed. Then they removed the ability to do a thumbs down. Very sad that another good institution, FLIPBOARD has be infiltrated by the woke.

Could be improved. Flipboard is my go-to app for all things news. One of my top five apps. But a couple things I find frustrating and would love improved. First when I find something that is interesting, start reading and have to stop midway - when I get back to it the app reloads and not only have I lost the article but the real problem is you cannot effectively search and find the article I was reading. Search seems to only find magazines and other categories but not content - the most important function search should perform. Second - I cannot seem to rid myself of junk I do not want to see - no matter how much show-less I select just cannot stop nonsense from showing up. And lastly I want to block content that requires a subscription that I do not and never will subscribe to - very annoying. Cannot seem to figure out how to stop being frustrated seeing an interesting title then be blocked. I just want to block all content from that source. Again - love the app but the above make it just okay when it could be so much more. Thanks for listening.

Gone Wrong. For the first couple of weeks this was my favorite app. However, something has now gone wrong. When I open an article, the screen keeps reloading the page over and over. It is if it is reaching out to get advertising content and as each snippet of content arrives the screen goes black and then reloads. Sometimes it finally settles down, sometimes the app just shuts down and closes, and as of today a error dialog box pops up saying there was an error loading the page and asking if I want to continue in Safari instead. Most disappointed as the app is now unusable on my iPad. Going to see how things go on my iPhone before abandoning all hope.

Flipboard with a little less Flip. Starting to become dated..Absolutely love the update having a month to make magazines is just divine. Staying at 4⭐️ stars still miss Still an sore - my primary flipboard screen. Begging and Pleading - Please, please, please bring back the old Flipboard screen somewhere inside the app. I love the extra stuff but if there could just be an option to have it on the bottom of the menu? I want to click the app and have big and little pictures flip down animation for new stories. This isn't rocket science, I'll pay to have the feature back. Why change something that's not broken? Please Flipboard!! New Flipboard 4⭐️ - This is by far my favorite app but this new update is disappointing with removing the primary page. I've been with you since iPad 1 and the best day ever was when it hit the iPhone. What is this? It's less flippy, now I have all of this useless extra white on the top of my dashboard stating "following" instead of a gorgeous layout that took over the entire screen. Old Flipboard 5⭐️ - This is by far the elite news reader, and it's all the information u want to read. You make your own newspaper...I always tell people to download first when they get a new iPad or iPhone. Keep up the good work, u have my attention ❤❤❤❤❤❤😃😜😃❤❤❤❤

Was good until it wasn’t. Flipboard was my go-to news app for a long time. I like that I could get articles from a variety of sources, some free, others through paywalls. But now it’s more annoying than anything because of the constant, aggressive bombardment of ads. You flip and a stupid ad flashes, grabbing the screen. You flip pass it and it moves up to the top of the screen, forcing you to x it off, which only works after tapping the x several times exactly. If you do find an article of interest, good luck actually reading it. They are so choked with ads that they crowd out the text of the actual article. Flipboard can’t do much about how news sites handle themselves so I can’t blame them for that, but the aggressive ads while flipping between articles are their responsibility. I’m gonna have to give up flipping and go directly to decent news sites or not bother at all. Was fun while it lasted.

Give us ad controls. Flipboard is great. I use it for the majority of my news reading. But there is a problem. Ads. Not just any ads. I want to be perfectly clear here, ads in and of themselves are fine. What I take exception with are ads that hit you with disgusting images. I don’t need to see graphic images of “20 years of earwax” being removed while I’m eating breakfast. I don’t need any information on toenail fungus or any gross images of nasty foot diseases. I don’t need to see an image of five mice with their necks snapped in a trap. Why can’t we block specific ads? As I noted above, I am not opposed to ads. Sometimes useful ones even come up and I click on them. But we ought to be able to insulate ourselves for imagery that makes us want to hurl. Short of engaging parental controls and blocking these sites through Safari, we’re stuck with them randomly showing up on Flipboard. Flipboard, fix this. You deserve five stars, but until I can block disgusting images, you get one. Update! Wow! Now an ad keeps popping up for “Truthfinder” a website that helps you find out “if they’ve been cheating”. Great! So useful (a sarcasm font would be helpful here). It’s also great that it looks like an ad for porn. Scratch using Flipboard at work, in a public place, at home, or really anyplace where you wouldn’t want someone passing behind you to think you’re looking at porn. Please fix this.

Can’t read for all the ads. I noticed reviews where people mentioned the ads. The developers have responded saying they are striving for a balance with the ads, and then they also keep saying they have no control over the ads. Do you have control on your own platform or not? It’s getting so frustrating when ads continually pop up and reload the page so that you can’t actually read the articles. If it happens like twice, I try to find my place and continue reading, but I give up when it just keeps reloading every time you scroll down. I’m about to switch to something different. This is too frustrating. And I agree with another reviewer that said that the ads take up too much of the small screen space and the x is too tiny to dismiss the ads without accidentally clicking it. I’m sure that’s to drive fake ad revenue. If I was an advertiser, I’d be mad to be paying for tons of accidental clicks from people that aren’t really interested.

ZERO CUSTOMER SUPPORT!. I’ve attempted to get help thru the App to NO AVAIL…zero response. My account had 46,008 Followers in 12 Jan., and roughly 46,230+ at 2am 18 Jan., but eight hours later my Followers have dropped to 46,514 and are continuing to drop…now at about 46,326 in tge last hour DESPITE actually having ADDED Followers in my Notifications!!! The only thing that’s different is that I ‘updated’ the App prior to shutting down at 2am which leads me to believe that there’s a MAJOR FLAW in this latest software update! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE take note & fix the issue. I’m sure I’m not the only one. I used to believe that Flipboard was the cream of the crop in news apps, but this blatant disregard for Customer Help response, amongst other issues, leaves me underwhelmed and lowering my Star Rating from 5 to 2. Can you respond & restore my once solid faith in this app? H-E-L-P! 😡

Flipboard was my fave iPad app years ago… but. it’s been downhill very gradually over the years. Here are my reasons for using it less… * The app has gotten unstable and spontaneously quits for no reason. * Every article now has a firehouse of adverts that make reading impossible. If you click on the no ads option below will not carry most of the images in the ad ridden version * There are paywalls in front of many articles, even from sources I already have subs for like the NYT and WaPo. * Rarely do videos actually run when embedded in an article. No action when you click on the play button. * You cannot refuse to get articles from a single source, only a board category. So if you don’t want Fox News in your feed, tough luck. You can’t turn it off. You have to give it all up to lose one. * Clickbait and really bad sources are all over your feed. Lots of sponsored articles. * You cannot curate your select sources. Flip only offers it all, whether you like it or not. * Clicking on the “mail to” icon when you want to send the article will always fail to populate the To: section. No other iPad app fails to make use of the send icon this way. * If you have set your iPad to “dark” mode get ready for Flipboard to fail to give you readable articles in many cases. This will persist through many OS changes. There’s more, but this should be enough to let Flip know they have gone downhill. Hope the monetizing at all costs is going as you hoped, mo munnie, unhappy user.

Update: Fixed Years of curating wiped out in update. I’m leaving my original review below in an effort to provide transparency to anyone else experiencing this issue. I love Flipboard. Probably my most used app. Have used for years and years. I was really upset when the recent upgrade eliminated all of my feeds. Dropped my usage to almost zero. Posted a review here and this evening was alerted that the developers responded to my review and it let me know there was an update. As of now all of my feeds are back and it’s the same old news feed that I know and love. What a relief. Thanks for being so responsive and fixing whatever went wrong. Updating my review to reflect how much I enjoy the app and especially the responsiveness of the developers. Flipboard was probably the first app I downloaded on my very first iPad. I’ve spent years curating which feeds I wanted to follow and as of this week”s update, it is all gone. All of my magazines are wiped out. Worthless after the latest update.

New video ads. This has been one of my most used apps for awhile. However with the new auto play video ads it might need to go. Even if you watch the full ad you still have to tap the x at the top left and with the iPhone plus it’s kinda annoying. If it happen once every in awhile no problem, but it’s the same video ad after every 5-7 flips. PLEASE improve or remove this. I know the app is free and nothing in the world is truly free, but make it more user friendly with the ads UPDATE : Since posting this review this issue appears to be resolved or close to it. I still use this app every day and appreciate the hard work it must take to make such a great app. I don’t mind ads I know they pay the bills, just didn’t like the way it interfered. All is good now, thank you!

Informative turned Ads induced nightmare. Having this app over a few years, a trend has been developing any solidified. What was a quick convenient method to draw on several news sources, has turned into a popup advertisement nightmare. Frequently after reading an article within Flipboard, is a popup for products, subscriptions, other websites you name it. It wouldn’t be so much of an issue but when you close the unsolicited popup, you go back to the browsing screen in Flipboard and have to start all over by reloading the page you had almost finished reading but interrupted for a pop up. The data usage is very high for an app supposedly providing simplistic pictures and text articles. The ads are proliferating beyond control. You are seeing more ad space than content. Not as content intensive as it used to be. Still a good app as far as convenience goes for multiple sources tailored to your interests. And by your choice I might add is something taken for granted. You have input here whereas similar applications don’t give that to the user.

Really disappointed. Many limitations for customization. I was looking for an app to provide me customized news based on my preferences. It was exhausting seeing negative news all the time either about coronavirus or politics that I wanted an app that can deliver me news just on a particular topic like art or design. Not that I don’t keep myself informed on other sources but I wanted to customize this news app to inspire creativity. I was excited when I saw that Flipboard does have the capabilities to customize but this is also its downfall. Even while just browsing the art or design tags, I still received news on my boards about politics or other topics I wasn’t interested in. I knew this would be a possibility because some news items may also be tagged that way based on the article’s content. However, I tried to customize it further by using the “less like this” option. Regardless of how many times I have selected “less like this” of a certain topic, it still comes up day after day...despite those same exact keywords showing up as an option to see “less like this.” I really tried and gave this app a good few weeks but unfortunately, I’m off searching for a new app.

Nice interface but really terrible treatment of users.. Flipboard will block a user's comments without informing the user that they have been blocked, all while allowing the user's magazines to continue to be seen, promoting Flipboard's stake in articles being propagated. After spending hours curating "your magazines" and trying to develop followers only to find that your content can be seen but not followed... and by not informing the user (who continues to have curatorial control ) that they have been blocked, that their ability to gain new followers or make comments has been terminated. Adding to this injury, Flipboard will send email updates inviting you, an unknowingly BLOCKED user, to add more content to (your) popular magazines!! This is self serving and deceptive--should be acknowledged by the developers more aggressively. Flipboard is self serving and clearly doesn't care about users. They apply their moderation rules unevenly. Users beware!

Good but …. I really enjoy the app and have always preferred it over other news curation tools. Recently, for reasons I just do not understand, they made changes to the location of buttons. Sounds minor, but don’t most of us use our phone with one hand from time to time? And (sorry lefties), isn’t most of the population right handed? I’m guessing one of the most used app buttons is the BACK button. For some inexplicable reason, Flipboard recently moved that button from the very reachable bottom right (easy to reach with the thumb) to the very far upper right. I’ve been trying to figure out what’s been annoying me with the app lately. That’s it. What are they thinking?? Certainly not about how most people use their phones … may I suggest actually watching how people use the app? I think that’s UX 101 … please put the back button back. Aside from that, it’s the first app I go to in the morning

Just keeps getting worse.. Flipboard has completely fallen to the “curated” and ad-driven model that has made this app no longer worth using. I used to love the convenience of being able to connect to multiple sources of news and articles in one place. I have many interests and do not follow a particular political party or ideology. Now, when I happen to read some articles that do fit a certain category, I get bombarded with more of the same. I go to an aggregator to have one place to look at a lot of different things, not to see the same type of content every time I look there. On top of that, if you don’t want to see certain ads anymore, the best option is to not touch or give any feedback on them. I’ve reported one site’s ads as being deceptive well over 20 times and they have become even more prevalent. If all I need is an API to connect to multiple sources, I can do that myself and at least only deal with the native ads from now on, and not have the content be narrowed to fit imagined categories that some statistical model says I should fit in.

Do not update to this version - much slower. I am a long time Flipboard user and recently I updated to iOS 11 on my iPad. I also updated the Flipboard app to the current one and that’s when the problems begun. The app is MUCH slower than the previous one. It takes long time to load ANY article from any source. There is also no option to block pop-ups (or at least one that works) so you are bombarded with ads and subscription nags. Come on Flipboard, blocking pop up ads is easy and almost every other browser has it. Another annoyance that still persists is the inability to disable the Cover stories. Let me choose what I want to read please. Seems like the best version was the original version. Downhill since then. Two stars, hope you can fix your problems so I can change it to five. Latest iPad with plenty of storage and latest iOS. Worked fine on previous Flipboard ver.

Disturbing trends. I have bee using and enjoying Flipboard for quite awhile now and it has been a very enjoyable source of news, information and fun stuff. They generally cover both sides of most issues with a fair look at each and a minimum of favoritism, I lean right and only occasionally feel their coverage leans left. A major accomplishment in my view. I have dropped my rating from 5 to three because the adds have gotten out of control with full page pop ups that only disappear after several hits to the x or only after up to a minute despite repeated touches to the x. Rapid fire adds appearing immediately after the previous one is deleted and multiple links that demand subscription or sign inns to read the stories. I still find the content worth the occasional off color discriptive adjectives uttered over adds but it is beginning to try my patience. Please tone it down a bit.

Need fixing. I wish flip board would bring back the bar at the top of the screen. I constantly have to exit the app to check the time or to see how much charge my battery is at. I get that you want to make a more “enriching” or more “ immersive” experience. But it’s annoying, and now with the latest update the default board is “for you” and I don’t like that. I want to see the news and what’s happening not what flip board servers have decided what I might be interested in. Use to love this app now it’s just going down hill fast. Edit: after your response I was able to get the status bar back (after the app crashed 7 times) but it’s working now. Also the other point I was trying to make is that I don’t want the feed that you all are forcing on everyone. I don’t want/I don’t need you all (or your sever) deciding what content I want to see. I want you to just show me content and I’ll scroll through and read what I want to. Why do companies think that they get to choose and limit what we can see? Sure it’s “optimized” but really? From what I’ve seen the optimization is crap, and it doesn’t show me anything that I actually want to read anymore.

New version doesn't open. The latest version opens for a millisecond and then quits. I'm running iOS 9, and even tho info says it's compatible with iOS 9, I suspect that's the problem. Unfortunately, unlike MacOS, there is no way for me to go back to the previous version. Flipboard, I will miss you. UPDATE ON JUNE 6 -- Hi, Developer! Thanks for your response. Right before I wrote the above review, I tried deleting whatever version of Flipboard I had on my phone, and then reinstalling it from the App Store. No luck. It still didn't open. But then I tried downloading again a few minutes ago and BINGO! The app opened right up, just like the good old days. I don't know which version I had a few days ago and which version I have now, and quite frankly I don't care. All I know is that Flipboard is working again and that makes me rather happy. I am changing my rating from one star to five stars, to reflect how much I enjoy using this app. I've got a whole bunch of "news aggregator" apps on my phone because I'm a news junkie, but this is my favorite. Welcome back, Flipboard!

A little bit shady. Flipboard asked me to rate the app in an in-app pop up. Trying to submit 1 star was not allowed. That’s a bit shady. What I don’t like is that the app sends you to the publisher to read the article. This is bad because any ad-blocker u might have installed in Safari does not work in Flipboards “web-browser”. So to read an article you end up downloading megabytes of ads and ad-tracking scripts from every publisher. That is, unless the publisher has an agreement with Flipboard, in which case Flipboard inserts its own full page ads you cannot pinch out of. The whole Flipboard experience can therefore be very _bad_ for your data plan and for your privacy. That said, Flipboard is very useful and gives you the opportunity to browse through articles within topics of interest in a very nice way. Apples own News app is a strong contender though, but for now I do prefer Flipboard.

Flipboard like a beautiful woman or handsome man you find has an IQ of 85. Unfortunately the combination of algorithms and subscription only news pages make this beauty much shallower than one would hope. There is no denying Flipboard is very easy on the eyes however the algorithms efforts to try and give you more of what you look at just end up giving you less of what you want. One or two stories on a given topic are enough when I am looking for the widest range of news on all topics. Further, I am constantly shut down by stories that look interesting only to find I am forbidden to read more than a teaser without subscribing. I would happily subscribe to Flipboard if all of the content was then accessible without additional subscriptions! And truly at the beginning and end of every day there is probably only 25-30 minutes of new news worth reading so do I really need Flipboard for that?

The tablet experience is subpar. I’ve been using Flipboard for years now as my main news reading app on my phone, and I do genuinely enjoy using it, especially since I can easily swipe back and forth between my smart magazines to find articles on topics I choose. I recently bought a tablet and downloaded the same app thinking the experience would be better, but in fact it is not, its far worse. Unless I’m missing something, the emphasis is on the tags you follow and not the smart magazines you’ve created, which are practically hidden. This is terrible, and I’m not at all happy with the experience. The app is still a good one, so I won’t rate it badly, it the difference between the tablet app and the phone app is too great, and with the phone app being far better I’ll be looking for another main news reading app for my tablet.

Well-packaged bait for online news services. This app is very well-arranged to my taste - the interface and user control over content is great. But each morning I read the news on Flipboard, about 25% of the stories that I select require a subscription. You can’t tell before selecting the story whether you’re selecting a story or an ad. I just opened a story that looked interesting. The article opened long enough for me to read the first sentence, but then the article was overlaid with an opaque banner saying “to continue reading, purchase a subscription to [so-and-so online publication]”. I don’t mind if an online news service expects me to pay for their material, but wasting my time with even a few seconds and clicks of baiting enticement is aggravating. This is what you should expect from Flipboard. If you don’t mind this, or if you don’t mind signing up for a huge number of online subscriptions, you may really enjoy Flipboard.

no progress on big bugs. UPDATE: one of my most used apps (14K flips) but still very buggy; current version crashes repeatedly on launch, worse there is no improvement in over a year on the number one bug - often completely loses state and reinitializes when the user takes a phone call, switches to another app or simply lets phone sleep that means if you’re reading something you pretty much have to finish reading in one session or open the article in Safari; otherwise it will reload the whole feed; it’s very frustrating, and i wonder if they have kept the bug on purpose, since it encourages me to finish reading articles and flip through my whole feed without interruption EARLIER: i’ve used Flipboard heavily for several years; it is a good curation app; however over the last several months the app has become much less reliable; most importantly, it is very poor at remembering where you were (saving state) — you can be in the middle of reading an article and do something as simple as let the phone go to sleep or answer a text or phone call, and when returning to the app it reloads the whole feed as if it has been force quit — this is intermittent but happens several times a day for me, and it’s very disruptive another major fault is the ability to share articles from Safari or other apps is very unreliable — often the sharing panel for Flipboard loads, then crashes before any action can be taken; i’m getting more frustrated and looking for alternatives

So many ads and so much data mining. (Update: Responding to my complaints about data harvesting, the developer replied that their privacy policy “explains the actions you can take with respect to your data.” They helpfully provided links. That just gets you a page with opt-outs for California and EU residents, and even that page just jerks to around the app and won’t let you do anything. My original review below stands…) Flipboard is still the best news aggregator. It’s visually appealing, it has excellent options to fine-tune what you see without creating a filter bubble, and it displays far fewer sketchy “news” sources and AI-generated content than, for example, Microsoft Start. However, It’s no longer enough for nearly every Flipboard news article to be an avalanche of jumping, blinking, flashing ads and pop-up videos with microscopic Xs to close them. (The superb Reader Mode takes care of this, but you can’t set it to automatic.) Now, in addition, Flipboard’s new privacy policy states that they will sell your data to basically everybody. And it’s a lot of data. Before installing, check the staggering number of permissions you’ll be granting the app. (In fairness, most news apps do this.) They collect far more data from your phone than the NSA. If the experience was less torturous, I’d feel better about exchanging some data for it. But who wants to give away the store for such an abuse to the eyeballs?

Diminishing Returns. PROS It’s simple to skim through articles from a variety of sources. CONS An occasional yet persistent bug breaks the app by over zooming into the screen which renders all of the controls useless, Flipboard haphazardly resets to the home page when returning to it from a different app which forces the user to lose their place, subject preferences that the user is asked to select when initially launching Flipboard aren’t referenced when serving up articles… e.g. if you show an interest in articles about “illustration” you’ll still be force fed articles relating to geopolitics, no way to search through articles you’ve Flipped into a particular folder, at a fundamental level there’s next to no innovation in the app as it basically does exactly what it’s done for years, having Flipboard in dark mode is infuriating as the screen turns a bright white for a moment or two every time the user dives into an article thus dark - BRIGHT WHITE - dark.

Ads and Ads, Many Articles do Not Display Correctly. 28 June 18 Update - 1. One of the remaining bastions for pop up ads. 2. Many articles display totally different than they do when one goes to the source article without using flipboard. Many articles I need to copy the name and then search the web, find the actual article to be able to read it. In flipboard many links, content simply does not display. NOV 2016 UPDATE - still no developer response to any of the below. No ability to screen and refine, e.g. Screen to only US source articles in a specific category. No guidance for top most popular feed in a specific category. Some pages flip right, some scroll down, you try to go back and kicked out of the article entirely or back to the beginning of the entire section, many articles are just ads or riddled with ads, full of pop ups that your pop up blocker cannot stop, full of articles from other countries that you cannot filter out in settings (e.g. Only US sourced articles), full of articles that when you click them you get two or three sentences and then a link to subscribe and pay.

Good app but a bit shady practices. I’ve been a fan of this app for years. It offers decent aggregation of free content in an intuitive interface. I stopped using it in favor of a paid subscription to Apple News simply because that gives me access to content from many publications and news outlets that make you pay for some of the content. I would recommend this app EXCEPT for the following. After years of disuse, I started getting daily news digest emails that quickly became a nuisance. I used the unsubscribe button (as I have done with countless reputable companies) and was shocked to see a failure on my attempt because I have a content blocker on my device. I fail to see the need to make unsubscribing to email a hostile user experience and that alone makes me question their intentions. I’ll give them the benefit of doubt as a potential oversight and see how they respond, then edit my review accordingly.

IN-credibly Addicting!!. WOOAAHH! Where was this app when I was in Grammar School?!!? I suppose like w/everything in our World now-a-days, it must have had to do with our famous technology. But what a shame, because not only am I massively addicted to this awesome app, I’ve now had to re-wire myself to my normal (-that’s IF there REALLY IS such a thing for us Writers 😅...!)daily routine in order to not remain literally stuck in so much incredibly fun, true, and many times even hysterical articles, which by all the Authors keeping things so up-to-date-, is what makes everything, so much fun!!!.. I’ve even passed this App Cross-Country to my Sister, and as far as to my Dad who lives in South America!! I know that sooner or later, God will work his mysterious ways w/me too, in order for me to start my own Testimony and help others fight and FREE from Domestic Violence along with the other ‘things,’ I was told I couldn’t do, but with my Faith I’ve stomped every one of them!! Keep it up, Flipboard, and best of Prosperities to all of you ‘real,’ Authors who sacrifice your time, sweat and tears to such a phenomenal gift to us who remain indoors 95% of the time- - TRULY A GIFT FROM ABOVE!! Sincerely yours, Ms. Ximena Cifuentes

DO NOT DOWNLOAD! Politics SHOVED down your throat!. Update - The official response from Flipboard (not the reply they posted here but the email that they sent me)…basically they said “too bad you don’t like our updates. Politics are a hot topic and regardless of your choice, politics (and our political agenda) will always be shoved down your throat! Your topic choices mean nothing.” I’ve deleted the app from all of my devices. What an arrogant response from the developer! Original Review - I was so excited when I saw the customization options added to Flipboard in the “For You” section. I chose only a couple categories for my “For You”…sports, technology and cars (or electric cars don’t remember which). Ever since then, I’d say 80% of all the articles in my “For You” are completely unrelated to my topics and focus around a specific political ideology that Flipboard is trying to shove down our throats. So, I’ve basically stopped using the app. The update is a major mistake! PS - nearly 75% of articles don’t load at all after updating to iPadOS 15. Completely useless app!

Works OK on iPad, but complete garbage on Galaxy Tab. I get to read news articles on a free app and that’s great. Some stories will not open due to subscriptions being required, which is fair, as businesses need to make money - and that’s where the expectations with pop-up ads blocking content comes in…it’s a free app and I’m happy to deal with it on iPad because that’s how they make their money. On the Galaxy Tab though, it’s nearly impossible to read the content due to the constant pop-up ads blocking everything. Both devices offer “reader view” to just see the print without many of the photos and pop-ups. On the iPad app, the reader view option is sometimes almost immediately, and sometimes can take several seconds to become available - again, advertising/revenue/money…it’s a business that needs to make money. On the Galaxy Tab though, you click on the article, go make coffee in grandmas old percolator, take a shower, get dressed, then MAYBE, reader view may be available. But normally, it’ll be video ads on top of other video ads, that require the reader to press the invisible “x” about 8 times, to get past the ad, only to have another one replace the last one, 12 seconds (or less) later. I like the app on iPad, but don’t bother with it much on Galaxy Tab anymore.

My topics were all deleted. Yesterday I launched Flipboard to find that all of my selected topics were deleted. After trying to figure out if there was someway to recover them I started a new list of topics to follow. Several of the new sites I previously followed are no longer available. Anyway I can’t find out what happened. It’s the same old Flipboard. Things quit working and it’s a blank wall you face when trying to find out what’s wrong. And what about paywalls? You drop me at paywalls, many of which I have subscriptions to but you don’t allow access to password managers, so I am blocked because I follow advice to use different passwords everywhere. You guys need to hire some good coders. My guess is that’s too expensive. Added 5/7/22: Now, Flipboard cannot keep my place in the feed. If a story links to a separate app or to Safari, when I go back to Flipboard it goes to the opening screen and my place in the feed is lost. I know coders are expensive but you really should hire some.

Expect lots of fake news.... If you want ‘Outdoors’ news, expect lots of ‘Climate Change’ propaganda. If you want ‘Political’ news, expect lots of Trump-bashing. If you get tired of all the negativity, you cannot put a thumbs down or ‘unlike.” You can click a heart for what you love, but the only way to get rid of the negativity is to ban that particular feed source. I don’t know how they decide which articles to show, but it certainly isn’t according to the population of America, which is roughly 50% conservative, as proved by the last presidential election. I can’t help but wonder, are they are trying to give people the balanced news they want, or FLIP them toward what they want them to believe? Hope I’m wrong in doubting it. I love the Flipboard concept, but would just LOVE to be able to add specific blogs, publishers, etc. Also, when I first set it up I was able to give it a few categories of my special Interests, but I see no way now to go back in and modify that, without sharing tons of information about myself by signing in with my Facebook/Google/etc. accounts. Strange! It should be easy to go back in and give it specific topics or URLs, or just specify ‘fewer negative articles.’ Hope they’re listening— it has a wonderful design, and lots of potential! Also, sometimes, after you interact with it, when you go back in, it flips all the way back to the beginning.

It got clickbaity. I used to use flipboard all the time, but noticed a slow decline in the quality of news it would present me, so I deleted the app and looked elsewhere. Eventually I came back to flipboard - as it has one of the most fluid interfaces of news apps with least intrusive ads - and signed up with a new account. We started off strong but over a few weeks the feed deteriorated into second hand, sensationalised stories. I find, even though I’ve set interests and preferred sources, the home feed buries longer, more informative articles to make way for clickable, hyperbolised stories. It’s now similar to scrolling Facebook for news, which is a shame because I used to appreciate Flipboard for its formal and neutral presentation. My guess is; flipboard shifted their algorithm to ensure users scroll for longer to increase profit from ads (like every other free news feed), but I guess that’s the cost of “free” news. Unfortunately, although flipboard served me well through secondary school and university, in the era of misinformation, I’m letting it go. RIP. It was nice while it lasted xx

Gesture Support for iPad trackpad. Great app, been using for 10 years. Now I use on my iPad Pro with magic keyboard, and wish there was a better way to navigate without having to reach up to the screen. Maybe a two finger swipe left or right, some sort of minimisation gesture to exit a story. Only option at the moment is hunting for tiny x ‘s and the little tiny dots at the bottom to flip pages.

I love this App. Its strengths are the publications it covers, and its ease of organising them. Some providers do not give deeper access and some limit the number of reads per month; both are easy to deal with by deleting that provider. This is serious App that meets its objectives and serves me well as a daily feed.

Avid user.. Been using Flipboard for a number of years but the latest update in the comments section seem to have been made for larger phones. When typing you can barely see the top of what you are typing. Apart from that it still pretty good.

Excellent experience. It’s been just few days of using Flipboard and its already my favourite go-to app for news, articles, business and so many things. Really loved this concept and would like to use it more.

Flipboard. Flipboard offers a wealth of information on different subject matter which is updated periodically. The wealth of knowledge to be gained enlightens us all and gives us an insight into the workings of not only people their likes but how things work.I find this knowledge is so diverse ,it is helpful ask it gives us an inner understanding of humanity.

Crashes fixed speedily. Latest update crashes, fix it. Well they did and very quickly. I use Flipboard every day as I can view news for my favourite topics with ease.

Not sure what’s going on…. Have loved Flipboard for years. But in recent weeks it has slowed to the brink of being unusable. It’ll load a batch of 5-7 stories, paise wisecracks before repeating cycle or crashing. Worse on iPad. Similar problem on iPhone, though. It will be a shame to be forced to a different tailorable curator…

Content good, many interface issues. Longtime user. So many ads recently. Many sites also have a pop up to accept cookies. Lots of clicks to access content. Then quite a few flipper site recommendations are behind firewalls. Flipboard has become a frustrating user experience. Why no global option for cookies displayed in Flipboard app? Why no option to block firewalled sites? Why no advert limit? A paid tier, even a subscription is needed or it’s time to move on and delete this app.

An amazing app. I really really love this app. Ever since my switch to an iPhone I’ve missed my google now feed but this is even better. It delivers news in a really genius way and it’s bite sized portions make it perfect to just flick through effortlessly.

Adverts as articles = bad. So Flipboard have decided that advertising revenue is more important than article content. This latest update sneakily brings with it a new monetisation: advertising masquerading as articles. Embedded amongst your articles you will now finding advertisements that look like an article but are not. Advertising inside an article is expected and accepted but these fake articles are not acceptable even though they are tagged as advertising. Flipboard is no longer my news aggregator.

Used to be 5 star but not so good any more. Used to be great but many news articles now require paid subscriptions and you aren’t able to remove those from your feed do they are annoying. Advertising has been creeping in and the algorithm for the summary feed seems to be skewed towards certain feeds which are probably sponsored. All that aside it’s easy to customise and great for creating your own magazines.

Useless Rubbish. Have been using this app for years. Then suddenly it does not work. Reinstalled then sends me on a merry go round of resetting password with a number of emails and messages. Finally it starts .. but crashes when trying to view anything. Eventually the app was fixed. Perhaps their communication could improve.

Excessive auto play ads. So many news pages these days are riddled with auto playing ads or excessive ads which can be got rid of by using the Flipboard “reader view” function. Downside is that reader view has to be activated for each page visited. Having reader view as the default would be a good setting to add if possible in the future.

Best news app. I have tried out many different news apps in the past and none really hooked because of poor designs or lack of updates. Flipboard is the best out there. The layout works in a way that you’ll be “news-binging” as if you were streaming a tv show. And frequent updates really boost its functionality. Great work guys :)

A great app but...... This app brings together web and news articles for your own defined interests. I use it frequently and it is generally good, but My disappointments are: it draws mostly on US based websites unless specific information from other countries can be defined in preferences, the search algorithm picks up on something you’ve read and keeps delivering similar articles even if it were a one off read, it isn’t able to differentiate websites requiring registration for access, and the loss of the filtering options available on previous versions. So good sometimes, but using it can be an annoying at times.

A-mazing!. A classmate of mine referred me to check out the app, and it was the best decision I’ve made! User friendly, likeable and super easy to navigate through without tutorial! Found no personal pain points for me! Highly recommend Flipboard for anyone who likes reading news articles without the hassle of subscription fees and searching for credible news articles

Dumping due to saturation of advertising. In all honesty, I enjoyed this app for years but recently in the last few, the amount of ads being surfaced via both supplier feed and then contributed by Flipboards platform have pushed me over the edge. I am all for an ad or two but when you almost can’t scroll or flip a news article for fear of clicking on an ad that you want no part of (or don’t want to encourage more of) the experience is completely ruined. Also, let’s not forget that advertising kills the UI and sacrifices UX to the money God so rather than put up with and encourage further development in this direction, I will give Apples own news feed solution a go instead. Goodbye Flipboard, it was once nice to know you but now you’re going out with tarnishes and broken, cheap steak knives you threw into the deal.

Thumbs up for Flipboard. Flipboard has been a Shining example of how to create an experience for iPhone. Since it’s inception it’s always been my favourite way to engage with news and articles, it’s simple UI is a credit to the designers, and it has held its spot on my home screen because it gives me a quick and intuitive way to dig into thing that I like to read.

Great aggregator but ads are terrible. Probably one of the better news readers. The injection of ads throughout articles is incredibly annoying to the point of looking for a replacement news reader. 🐜 I don’t know how Flipboard is helping me understand the world at all. They are an aggregator but don’t disseminate or add any value to the sources they present. I’m tired of generalised claims by tech companies seeing themselves as “making a difference” when it’s all about CAC, LTV and churn - increase your valuation for the next funding round, get acquired then show me how your are helping us help the world over yourselves?

Following Twitter’s lead. Yes, I know that A-long Pus calls it X now. You can call a dog dropping a diamond, but it’s still a dog dropping. So, in order to force us to watch all the ads, Flipboard has decided that we can no longer open stories in (ad-blocking) Safari. Same tactics as Pus, forcing users to watch ads. I love the fact that Flipboard complains constantly about Twitter blocking them and then pulls the same stunt themselves by blocking Safari.

Great range of articles and sources. Am always impressed with the range of sources and types of articles. Only thing is that “for you” section pigeon-holes me a little too much, at times I want to see some thing that isn’t normally what I would choose, otherwise how would I find new topics to follow and be interested in?

Love Flipboard - Hate “For you…” notifications. Update - After the developer response I tried to change my notifications. However these are the notifications that your phone will give you, not the annoying little red numbers by the speech bubble in the app itself….so still 2 stars from me at the moment! Flipboard seems recently to have changed their policy on using the area for comments and now shows “for you…” notifications. Not only are these very annoying they are also next to useless. Please get rid of them.

My favourite app. My Favourite app Just a few things... I want to be able to rotate the app upside down. When reading in bed I like to have the charging cable at the top with the phone flipped around because the trillion dollar tech company still doesn’t know how to make a good cable & my hands get tired having to hold it off the bed. Not Flipboard fault but would help if I could flip flipboard Another feature that needs to be found is, say a magazine is several thousand pages and I've gone through hundred, sometimes when restarting app etc it returns to the start. It would be good if there was a way to quick scroll back to last position without having to flip several hundred times to get back to it

Great. Everything I want to look at in one place I use it multiple times a day. But cant you put our saved magazines in alphabetical order so it’s easier for us to add things to them?

Relevant, Realistic and Researched. Nothing like this on the internet. You are channeled information relevant to your preferences, information that deals with real world concerns and perspectives, backed by research of a kind that sustains a credible point of view, and information you can work with and apply in your life or job.

Such a shame. It’s such a shame that a good news platform has been taken over by news outlets hiding their news behind paywalls. Trying to catch up on the current affairs of the day, I was blocked from EVERY story that I tried to read by messages telling that in order to continue reading I needed to either register or subscribe, and I’m not going to do that, why should I have to? I have removed Flipboard from all my devices and I strongly urge you not to bother with it, just stick to Apple News, at least they tell you if a subscription is required before you open the article.

Great app. Adds with a time delay will drive me away!. Been using this app for few years but the recent addition of adds that have count down before you can scroll past will be the end for me. They often glitch and you have to restart the app. Have adds in billboard form that you can scroll past and users can choose to engage with, but don’t force users to stare at them. I’ll be looking for a different app.

Malicious website and tracking detected in my router. Flipboard pages contains those malicious website and tracking codes .. I have reported many times but no actions. Those website are fine when browsed on a standalone browser but detected when flip via flipboard

Lagging and Slow. I have been using flipboard for at least 5 years or more. You can say I am a experienced user. Unfortunately the last week it’s terrible, articles loading very slow and the app is lagging. I now need to wait for several seconds before I can read an article. Sometimes articles show and then disappears. I have always been a huge fan and I have told many friends about the app, but unfortunately not the case anymore. I will have to look for a new app. Come on guys fix this issue, it is not a pleasant experience anymore.

Curating at its best. As a school teacher Flipboard has been my go to App for a number of years. Simply fantastic to curate resources as well as discover what others are collecting. Oh for the day when I could return to uploading videos! I would then return this App to a 6/5 rating.

So im old fashioned.. I much preferred the previous incarnation before flipboard took over. I do not check as much as i did because i find the navigation clumsier and the filtering poorer. minor and personal gripes though as the service is still good and i am sure if i has only known flipboard as it us now i would have rated it 5 stars

Staying in the loop. This is a great app. It’s a wonderful part of my day where I’m able to stay up to date with content “I’m” interested in. It would be great to be able to follow more categories than what is offered.

Flipboard My favourite app. Love reading news in flipboard, i been using it almost everytime everyday for so long now. Its like facebook now that keeps you inform whats happening to the world. This app is definitely a must app for all phone users. For future app update, dark mode to save battery and save eyes at night. New design would be awesome:)

Great easy to read system. I love Flipboard because I can quickly skim through important relevant articles & stories thus saving me valuable time. Flipboard gets to the point with the minimum fuss which is really important for a time starved person like me!

Great news. I am disheartened with tv news. I have been using Flipboard for the best part of the year. I am genetically disabled and enjoy the reader view option. I also use talk. Brilliant

Great app but needs offline features.. I’ve used and enjoyed Flipboard for years, but it really lacks offline and read later features. I often bring it up before a flight and would enjoy being able to save an offline version of some stories, even a cutdown text option.

What is going on!!.. This app in itself is outstanding, but now for some reason it just locks up and asks to open the article in Safari, and still it refuses to open. I have deleted and reinstalled, but still it keeps on happening all the time!. What the hell is going on?, are the bugs running wild, please fix ASAP, need to keep up with Covid19 news reports!.

The new animated Ads for games are destroying usability. Use to love Flipboard but the new animated ads for games are horrible. They disable the user interface and start playing tunes. I understand Ads are needed but Cmon Flipoard don’t subject your users to this pain.

Love my daily catchup of articles on Flipboard. I love this app I can customise it to bring me all the information, news and what’s happening around the world. Whether it’s happening in science, technology, word of fashion or politics I choose what I like and every day I get the latest information delivered in a simple and easy to read format. It’s the digital magazine you have always dream’t of delivered to you mobile device or tablet. Simple easy and enjoyable...

Boutique selection tailored to your interests. Always informative and from reliable sources. I no longer need to read 15 articles to find one of interest. Flipboard does this for me. I check it everyday and yet I gave up news websites years ago. It’s not news it’s evidence based articles of interest from around the World.

Better than nothing. It’s a very inconsistent interface. Some articles flip, but others scroll. And as for training it to show you articles that match your interests - good luck! Let’s say an article about SEO turns up and you want to “show less like this.” The list of topics to unsubscribe from has zero relevance to the SEO article. You’ll see a list like “potatoes, ancient Egypt, Donald Trump, jasmine” when all you want is to see fewer articles about SEO. The function is so useless it would be better not to include it.

Please move the back button from top back to bottom. I used to be able to scroll the news one handed, now operating Flipboard is a two handed task, moving the back button to the top left corner for a right handed makes it painful. 5 stars if you move it back where it always was.

Still my go to but sadly forcing video and other ads down my throat. Great news site and I’ve used it since it’s inception. Living remotely and on satellite internet so I pay for every megabit transmitted. Also the internet is slow so my readings are constantly interrupted by ads being interposed above my now very jerky stories, and forced video ads taking precious screen space and megs. The x to dismiss the video ads is often small or hard to see, and often take several clicks to make disappear. Plus lots more ads masquerading as news. I get they have to make money but this is overdoing it and very sad as well as annoying. I’d happily pay a subscription fee to eliminate them but to date, not an option.

The best, www to you!. Easily the most useful app anywhere, brings together the entire internet and packages it up just for you! So special, comments are becoming entertaining too with more and more users.

Flipboard is my go to. Being an early adopter and I have tried other readers- I keep coming back to flipboard. Freash an up to date content is gold. It’s hard to put down when on holidays and even before work to know what’s going on. Cant speak of it highly enough

Tons of news but filters don't work. While it's a nice app to grab. Reading news from all over the place now I can't filter out articles that flood my categories I like to read. No matter how many times I tell it to show less of PUBG and Fortnite, I'm consistently flooded with articles of them and I have been filtering them for a month but to no avail making that channel useless now and full of junk I don't want to read about.

Still enjoy it. Amazing as always constant updates love my articles and how much things we miss out but definitely much better then it used to be 4 years ago

Better filters. Very useful app although more and more the items collected require passwords to access and therefore I would prefer a filter that did not present these unreadable items

Lacking Advertised features. Five updates promoting these features but not available on iPads. Clearly FALSE advertising!!!! “What's New - Paywall indicator: There's a new icon on articles that may require a subscr know before you open the story. Let us know about paywalls we may have the three-dot menu reporting feature. - New History tab (clock icon) in your Profile shows the last 400 items you Flipboard so you can easily find recently read items.”

Still crashing after the latest update. Please fix!

Good platform but.. I’ve seen quite a bit of fake news in the past year. I would be satisfied if you could do something about it.

My view. I am disappointed with the excessive ads and the time for them to load. I am disgusted by the number of “ tickler” headlines that lead to pages requiring subscriptions which, if I abandon the site, will be the reason.

Unable to unsubscribe from Flipboard email news blogs. I would give it a higher rating but I’m annoyed by the fact it sends me email that I didn’t ask for with news stories to view. Clicking on unsubscribe at the bottom of their email sends me to a safari browser which reads “Safari can't open the page because the server can't be found.” I have notifications turned off, I’ve looked for an area on the Flipboard app and logged into the Flipboard website to turn that off but there isn’t anything. I’ll have to put the annoying daily emails in the spam folder.

My Favourite App. This is my go-to app for many reasons. Thanks Flipboard

Get rid of the ad format or I’m deleting the app. It takes up a third of the screen and ruins the user experience. I get that you might need ads to make profit but the current format is awful, totally ruins it, come back with something better or risk a mass exodus of users

Unusable. The amount of loud pop up video ads has forced me to delete this app and get my news from other sources. I really liked flipboard prior to this, however it’s now unusable.

Good news app. Found the app to be very useful in aggregating a my news . Only issue is it needs to be optmised better to use less data unfortunately this apps sucks up data without you knowing when roaming, and charges can get out of control.

Articles. Articles trop axés sur la France et pas assez nord-américain!

Flipboard. Very poor replacement for the great Zite. Crashes every day. Great potential but does not work. Horrible.

My new favourite app!. I love this app, only used it for a couple of days, but It’s super easy to use and flip through the headlines

Adds. Another bites the dust but adding adds to its APP - bye bye.

Not good enough.. I just want Flipboard to run on both my Surface Book and iPad Pro (the same). Runs fantastically smooth on iPad and badly on Windows. If the developer doesn’t care about Windows performance, then I’m happy to keep using Microsoft News.

Ads, ads, ads. Too many ads, including what appear to be news articles, but are really advertorials. Used to be a great news app. but the developers are getting greedy squeezing ads in at every opportunity.

Langue. Impossible de filtré par langue. Exemple Canada Français.

Been using Flipboard forever..... Not happy with all the headlines that you click on and they want you to sign up and pay. Either keep it free or go away. I understand these are difficult times for media. But the shift is done. It’s all online now. I don’t mind the advertising. But stop showing me headlines and then when I click on them. “Join for 1.99 a month”

Fake classification of content. I work in computer science and have been using Flipboard for three years now. Unfortunately the last six months has seen categories dedicated to computer science increasingly peppered with unrelated political stories. Today I opened the first page of Computer stories, and only one of them actually had anything to do with computers. The rest were all heavily Republican slanted partisan political articles that had no business being on the page. Looks like it’s time to find another source that is more honest with its readers.

Barely functional app. Terrible. Features don’t work, constantly blanking and shutting down. Horrible experience.

Like the concept but... I like the Flipboard idea, but recently am using it less because all articles are like ‘the one thing you must do to stay happy’ or the ‘17 things to avoid to be a winner’. This turns me off and I found other sources of news.

Flipboard Observations. I was recommended to try Fb by my granddaughter over two years ago. I have found it to be one of the best news delivery systems without being “in your face” like other media deliveries. It is delivered daily and the fact you can select your interests as opposed to having to read through or listen to news that is of no interest is a great bonus. I would recommend Fb to anyone that wants to select their preferences rather than having to deal with a mindless selection of articles.

Last Update. Last update broke it.🤔

Was a great app. I loved this app since day one with this new update There is nothing about flipping anymore, those adds play superLoud while scrolling Please fix it

Annoying ads. Less than one minute into opening the app and an advertisement appears

Too many ads. I’ve been a Flipboard user for a couple of years. I like it a lot, but lately it’s felt a bit overrun with ads...

love this app. This is one of the best apps i’ve seen in a while I can just read what Im interested about and not have to deal with other things I don’t like to read. 👍👍👍👍👍👍

Can’t read most articles. Useless when most articles require a subscription to read.

News Worthy. The articles are very informative and well written.

Insanely high data use. Recently Flipboard started using hundreds of MB per day out of my data plan. Just browsing, not watching lots of videos or other bandwidth intensive activity. Maybe a bug in a recent update? I've used the app the same way for years and suddenly it's chewing through my data plan like Homer Simpson with a box of donuts.

New update arrow button. Used to be able to hold this in one hand and flip, choose and go back with my thumb. Now they have moved the back arrow to the top of the screen and you need both hands. Who comes up with these innovations?

Too many ads. I’m going to delete it because of too many ads.

Great news source. It’s my favourite news phone. Always relevant topics

Gets more annoying with age. It seems that as this app matures its developers go to great lengths to make me want to delete it. It’s been my go to for news for a long time now, but the autoplay of videos is terribly annoying. Now the full screen ads that have been added not only play video but loud audio that doesn’t stop when you’ve flipped past it. I’m seriously just a couple more annoying video ads away from saying goodbye to Flipboard and hello pretty much anything else. —— Update After only an automated response from the developer, and a long succession of loud ads when my volume is off, I have respirated to uninstalling flipboard after many years.

Recent releases are getting flaky. The last few releases are extreamly unstable, the support team doesn’t respond even when they asked me to submit a report. I did and then didnt hear back from them. It’s too bad as I have a lot invested in my magazines and now need a way to convert of the site.

Auto launching ads. Trying to boost your ad number by automatically launching into another app while swiping through stories is shady and annoying. Uninstalled. Shame because it’s otherwise a decent news aggregator.

Ads play with sound even with mute on. Great aggregator, but the prevalence of ads in the news feed has been ramping up constantly. The worst offense is that now video ads will play with full volume even when silent mode is on. Not appreciated. If this issue persists, I’ll switch to another app.

Stop allowing launching to App Store. I used to like Flipboard but this is too annoying. Please prevent App ads launching into App Store when flipping through articles. Very annoying!

Mindless Ads Repeated Again & Again. The app has gone from great to so so, because of the proliferation of stupid ads that repeat again and again, on every sixth screen. If I skipped the ad the first time, and on the second, and on the third, then stop showing it to me!!! I am not going to click the bloody product! What an irritating business model. To clarify, I am not talking about the publisher Ads. I am talking about the repeating ad pages that frequently cycle when flipping pages in the app.

Great app before adds. Flipboard was one of my favorite apps. Until they put all the trash adds in it. Navigation is anoying because the adds keeps taking you out of Fliboard for opening they’re link in Safari.

Greed ruins everything. Used to be great, but now when you swipe past an ad, it registers as a click on the ad every time. Gotta get those clicks I guess.

Problem with app. Pages won’t stay open, it keeps refreshing and ends up with white page. App crashes often lately. Please fix.

LEA. Only news I look at.

Not anymore. Was a great app but with all the updates it’s turned to garbage so I had to delete

Good but buggy. Excellent app but there is this frequent bug which corrupts the images within the app’s Home Screen after returning from an article. Flipping to other articles doesn’t help.

More of a five star app, but this one thing is annoying. Great app, but this happens to me a fair amount: I’ll get a notification with an interesting story, click to read it, then when I’m scrolling down, I’ll accidentally swipe back, and I lose the story I was reading. Can’t swipe forward to return to it, and the notification is gone because I clicked on it already. What was the title of that story? Who published it? Ah, I forget, I guess I’ll never see it again. Shrug

Is crashing a lot now.. I have used Flipboard for years. Enjoy it. But it is very prone to crashing in the last update or two. Will crash mid article and when you reload it will refresh and you can’t find your article easily again. That’s frustrating. It also messes up routinely if you open it while your phone is in landscape, it will cease to function. You have close the app and reload it while in portrait. I’d give it a 5. But these new bugs make it a frustrating experience.

Used to be good.... not anymore.. Flipboard used to be good but lately they have allowed ads that auto play video with audio that cannot be turned off. Look how many reviewers are saying the same thing over the last year. The result is your phone starts playing loud audio without you expecting it. You could be quietly reading in a public place and have loud audio start playing that you can’t turn off. There are other news aggregators. Better off with them.

Ad as News. Don’t really like how the same Ad repeats and looks like a news article every 20 or 30 flips. Advertising needs to be more clearly identified as such. I don’t like sneaky Ads. Boilerplate response from Developer is really not cool. That response does not address the issue as that was not the issue pointed out in the feedback.

Best News App, but….. On iOS devices, swiping up on the screen to go to another app for a minute will often cause the Flipboard article you were reading to disappear. This is frustrating as you won’t be able to find it again. The ability to save and recall articles can be used but this system is clunky and unintuitive.

Ads. Ads were recently added to the feed. Full page ads that, when the page is flipped, are always clicked. This isn’t caused by miss handling the device or something: every time I flip through it quickly, is gets tapped 100% of the time and opens up a Safari page on iPhone XS or iPhone 7. This is a discouragingly bad UI/UX decision for a quick money ads click scheme. I’ll look into other apps now after using Flipboard for years.

Great way to read the news but.... The last update caused a very annoying change in how the ads work. Now any ad for an app in the App Store causes the App Store to launch that page in the store when you try to “flip” to the next page. Really very annoying. I’m assuming they did this on purpose to generate better revenue.

👉 Are you looking for an Adsense alternative advertising platform?

Adsterra is the most preferred ad network for those looking for an alternative to AdSense. Adsterra is the ideal choice for new sites with low daily traffic. In order to advertise on the site in Adsterra, like other ad networks, a certain traffic limit, domain age, etc. is required. There are no strict rules. Sign up!

Integrity In Ads Would Move You To 5 Stars. I love that there is sooo much more to read because of revenue generated by advertising. But, PLEASE be up front about it. Do NOT do “promoted” stories that are disclosed as promoted in smaller, lighter print. I’m thinking of Casper mattresses, for example. I’ll be buying a new foam mattress this year, but NOT a Casper one, because of the advertising deceptively printed as a news story. My major was marketing. I love clever advertising. I even like targeted advertising, but PLEASE, stop making advertising look like news stories. Here’s an idea: Put your ad at the top of a news story. Let me decide if I’m interested enough that I click on it, or scroll quickly past it (maybe as a single guy, I just have no interest in the latest wireless bra right now).

No fact check controls. This is a great app. However, it would be nice if you could report articles for not being factual. Too many online news agencies don’t have strong fact-check and/or sourcing policies, which allows for untruths to promulgate. Let us flag articles for being untruthful, but also make us have to defend why we flagged the article. This will help root out the garbage conspiracy theories on both far ends of the spectrum. After receiving a response, I still object because there is no category to report content for being not factual. “Misleading” doesn’t capture it and neither does “other objectionable content”. And there is no space to write why you are flagging it. No text box to describe which “facts” are not true.

Articles often not aligned with topic. I have been using this app for years and at first it was fantastic. I had about 50 topics and could read up on fresh news about whatever I was interested in at any time. Now I’m finding that my topics are filled with articles that have nothing to do with the topic. (Today: A biopic of the Walton family in my topic of “olive oil”.) And worse: I very purposely don’t follow any political topics on this app, but I get almost daily notifications such as “for you in conservative views”. The closest I get to this in my topics is “personal finance”. How does that trigger conservative views notifications? Very strange that this app has gone from one of my favorites to one that is consistently annoying me. I keep waiting for it to go back to the app that works as it should and I really hope it does!!

Liberal views. Too much liberal point of view. Not enough of fair reporting on the conservative view. There are both sides of the spectrum that need to be fairly presented. I read the LA Times daily and I believe the Times has their political agenda. They don’t give much print on a conservative approach . Just look at their op-Ed journalism. Not too much of the alternative story. I’m afraid Flipbook is following their lead. Too bad you can’t follow a unbiased reporting of issues. Thus I just blow off the radical left and Flip board as a liberal point of view and I don’t spend much time with it. You could make a real difference. You know you can be better and unbiased . But that just seems to be your slant on reporting the news. Personally,I find your reporting on political news to be somewhat worthless Why don’t you take a stand and report news fairly.? You could be a beacon for fairness in reporting, if you want to be on the forefront of honest reporting.. I’m not expecting you to be Fox News, but you could take a modicum of reporting that presents both sides if the political spectrum. You might find your brand would be more respectable Steven C. sanders, neither a conservative nor a liberal

Love the app. I love collecting and sharing articles in my own magazine. Super easy and great way to gather news sources and read up on anything I find interesting. The new design is boring though. I like flipping through the articles, it’s called Flipboard for that reason but the new scroll down design doesn’t feel as good. Several things also change like when I enter my magazine, the new design is too boring with the description at the top and immediately you see the articles. I like the old design where the first page is the description of my magazine and the last article’s photo is displayed over the entire screen giving it a very nice modern look. The old design is just superior to the new boring scroll one. Let’s keep the flips please.

A time waster. I gave Flipboard a try after my growing frustration with the slow speed of Apple News’ loading, scrolling, etc. But I find that Flipboard isn’t the answer. My big problem is with customization. When you first start the app, it lets you select from hundreds of topics to follow, and then...it shows you topics you don’t want to follow. There is a “muting” function, but it doesn’t work. I mute a source, and a couple of days later, the source is back. You can also have it “show less” or “show more” of stories covering a topic, but the app decides which topics are covered in the story. A story about sexual harassment won’t have “sexual harassment” in the list of topics you can choose to see more of. I spend much more time muting and trying to see less of topics then I actually spend reading stories.

Interface got a lot worse. Clunky. Sad.. I avoided updating the app until now, knowing that their prototype user interface was going to be worse. I just had to reinstall the app and it installed the latest version of the app with the new interface. Wowww, this is absolutely terrible. Scrolling through comments is now an utter nightmare. Text is getting cut off. The scroll panel doesn’t know if it wants to be half screen or 80% screen or full screen. What were you girls and guys at flipboard thinking? Now I’m stuck with the new inferior interface with no way to revert back to the old one. As much as I have enjoyed using this app in the past, it’s usefulness has been whittled away by bad decisions and I think it’s time to live on. Thanks, it was passingly okay while it lasted.

Agenda news pushed front and center. I had used this app for a while, was able to select my news without issue. That being said, I would open the app and see Progressive editor choice articles. Today when I opened up the app there was a child who was part of the FL school massacre on the top of the app. Many of us in this country view the use of these kids to push an agenda as child abuse. They can be seen reading off talking points and being interviewed after shooting- it's reprehensible that these stories are published. Enough. It was so distasteful to have this content pushed in front of me. It is sad that this company thinks it is ok to promote its agenda through this fashion; again this was the ’editors choice.’ I see companies on both sides of the political spectrum using this model, and I refuse to give them ad revenue. Just the way I feel about these news apps. Uninstalled.

Shady Now. I used to love Flipboard, but the recent update has made the app almost make my delete forever list. The new design makes it difficult to determine whether a flip is an actual article vs a paid advertisement- now that everything is black. Also if you accidentally open the app while holding your phone in landscape it completely screws up the layout and you have to close and reopen. Ok fine, those are nitpicks. The real reason for the 2 star is because I’ve noticed just recently that certain ad views trigger leaving the app, jumping to safari and then to the App Store. It seems like this happens without touching the ad, but I’m not 100% sure. All I know is I’m not comfortable with the idea of an ad opening safari spontaneously onto a random website without my consent. This is extremely suspect behavior and one I never thought would occur on this app.

Very Broken on iOS 10 - no launch. Update: July 2018: deleting & reinstalling the FlipBoard app fixed the problem. While not able to use Flipboard, I realized how much I was using it! I'm glad it is working for me again. I also tried Reddit which is a window into hundreds of amazing communities, but ultimately Flipboard is what I prefer for semi-curated news. Boosted star rating because I mostly enjoy Flipboard, but only 4 stars because some of its websites are not usable due to ads or require separate subscriptions to view. And some news sites are of questionable validity. =============== After update on June 1st, 2018 FlipBoard will not open on iOS 10. Can't use it at all. Don't do this update!! ------- I read Flipboard a lot! It learns what articles I'm interested in, and finds more like that. So it gets better the more you use it. The shortcomings are that it does not allow landscape view, nor can you zoom in, so some articles are unreadable. Also there is a ton of inline ads. I'm used to ad blockers, so this is even more distracting to me. Overall, I put up with the ads because I mostly enjoy Flipboard.

Worthless…... Constantly crashes….CONSTANT. I hate how you star(like) something and you can’t even unlike it. So I got 3000 plus fricking likes. After I’m done going back I WOULD LIKE TO NOT HAVE IT IN MY SAVED FEED IF I UNLIKE IT!!!!! Also, and very important…. MUTING THE PERSON WHO WROTE THE ARTICLE, OR THE TYPE IF ARTICLE NEVER MUTES IT. You still get stuff related to exactly like it in your feed. I also hate the fact if you touch certain parts of the screen it shuffles back ALL THE WAY TO THE BEGINNING. That shady practice is only intended to keep u on longer. Oh ya, one last…. Probably not last, but I’m done with even complaining because like it’s going to change anything. If you don’t scroll perfectly vertical, it swipes into something else. Jesus Christ…. I can’t even finish an article without it doing this. Get whatever baboons you got working there out, and put someone who knows what they’re doing in there

The ads are out of control. I have used Flipboard for years. It’s been my go-to app for news since it came out. However, I’ve gotten to where I don't like using it as much as I used to. When I open articles to read them I’m constantly being bombarded with ads. These ads are generally embedded within the articles, but the bottom of the articles also have utterly ridiculous ads. I can’t see how these are coming from the websites since they are nearly the same ads for every article. It doesn’t matter if I’m on WiFi or on cellular, the ads are annoyingly the same. I even use two ad blockers. I cannot figure out how to suppress them. I would like for Flipboard to provide a mechanism for removing the ads, like other apps such as the MSN News app and the Apple News app. Until then, I’m going to move away from Flipboard.

A Little Qwerky, But Oh So Convenient. I have enjoyed Flipboard since, well, maybe the beginning. The email feed with selected articles leads me deeper into my favorite subjects. In my daily routine, this added efficiency exposes me to info I am interested in (after all, I did specify the topic categories) without having to hunt it down. Flipboard showed me the good writing in a big city daily paper and I now am a digital subscriber to that publication. This broadened my reading horizons. My biggest complaint is linking to articles that I am not a subscriber to read, and I just cannot buy memberships and subscriptions to everything that Flipboard does not offer specific article links for free.

Developers do listen!. Updating my review (used Flipboard since it began…yes I’m old). Myself, as well as other users as I can now see, did not like the new “Flip” process. It prioritized adding notes before magazines, requiring too many steps to get an article into a custom mag, but the devs have fixed it. Totally cool with the new layout. You can still add notes, but it doesn’t feel like an extra step forced on you just to save an article. I personally don’t use the notes because I just want my custom mags, but I’m all for them as an option! It just took too many steps to skip adding them the way it was set up before the new update.

Account Disabled. I was using this app for many years and I saved so many stories in different sections and I liked it very much but one day I tried to use it and my account was disabled, I tried to get it re-enable by emailing support many times but it was a dead end, no one replied or confirmed my request so giving a reason is out of question, so don’t get in love with this app it can dump you suddenly, :( Update:- after the above review they re-enabled my account, it was quick, all my saved stuff is still there, obviously I like the app that’s why I didn’t give up even after more then one year, thanks to the person at this end.

App crashes, terrible bait click titles. I used to love this APP. Have used it for years. However lately the app crashes almost every time i use it. It has now become a ridiculous waste of time. Such a shame. If i could give it negative star rating i would. In addition to the app crashing at least 10 times a day: The content used to be full of great articles. Now it is rid of bait clicking nonsense, partisan articles, and articles that require a subscription. At the very least Flipboard should have a setting to globally filter out teaser articles that make users pay to view the articles. We already have to view the stinky advertisements, thats bad enough. Its really not a usable app any more and that is a shame. You cant monetize every article on the internet with clicks and bait-switching headlines.

Done with Flipboard. I use the News360 app now. Every 4 flips there’s ads with videos or full page casino ads. It often it locks up. It’s becoming so bad I’ve had to shut my phone off. This was my go to app everyday and I got so many addicted to it. I’ve now referred everyone elsewhere and they agree with the same issues. If you choose to dislike a topic...it does not function. For example...almost every article is Coronavirus even though I dislike the topic. I do not want Sports but I get them. I Googled a Range Rover but it the app tracked that and I’m constantly getting ads for that exact same vehicle that I looked at on the CarMax site. I believe it’s owned by Facebook so it is indeed tracking you. *Update* Support never responds. It’s officially the Coronavirus app it seems. I counted and ‘Flipped’ 23 times through Coronavirus articles, pop-ups, and care advertising. It was so useful. Now it’s one huge monopoly. Don’t invest much time in it. What once was a great app has become the worst app that I have.

I Flip for Flipboard. This app is simply how I consume news these days. In function and features it is optimize for smart phone, news consumption and by flipping up and down and sideways you’re able to navigate quite simply to exactly where you want to go and then the app allows you to dig into what you want to see. If you want more detail on any subject, there’s almost always articles nearby that you can consume, and all of the articles have been curated carefully so that everything seems to hang together quite well. The app also includes feedback functions, so that if any articles appear off, you can let them know and you can make them disappear. I love it.

zite was so much better. i’m just gonna leave this here. some of us remember, flipboard. “ Despite a pledge from its acquiring parent company, Flipboard, to integrate the best features of Zite into its flagship Flipboard app, Flipboard never delivered an option for mirroring Zite’s simple, scrolling, one-great-story-after-another interface.” i was bum beard when you bought zite, shut it down, and acted as tho it never was. you can go to reddit and see a thread from just moths ago of people missing it. it was wonderful. fast, simple, and the recommends were not just good, but gave you *useful* keywords to keep or not. i was a tester years ago for flipboard. it’s a well done, slick app with good devs. but the interface is, for my taste, ponderous and unresponsive to my changing (or even long term) interests. it’s nothing at all like zite and if they incorporated any features, it’s imperceptible. let’s end with another snippet from a different blog. “ Zite was special because it drew from multiple sources. It had a few of their own sources, which were mostly click-bait or teen-dream content, but the real power came from my RSS sources, Twitter account and an amazingly specific preference engine to tune content.” amen to that. i don’t use flipboard (i did try a few times but tho slick and pretty, it just doesn’t do it for me). just got it for a sec to share my thoughts. five years on, still missing zite.

Use to love 😩forever broken hearted 💔. Update3 There have been ups and downs.... but they seem to always fix annoying problems eventually. Still my favorite news app. Thanks for all the hard work! This use to be my all time favorite news app! This was by far the best out there. It has taken a sad turn for the worst. Ads. They they take your phone by force while reading an article. And now today pop up video you are force to watch it until the end or close the app. I would gladly pay to not have ads. Incredibly broken hearted my favorite app has taken this undesirable turn. 😩😢 Update the pop up ads that force you to the App Store.... I will never shop at the root insurance company app because I am sick of them forcing my phone to there app in the App Store Update 2 I did delete the app, will probably reinstall The developer did reach out to acknowledge the issue. Other than the pop up and redirecting, this has been the most fantastic app and the easiest place to read news....

ads ads ads ads ads and more ads. This app has become a true diagrace. There is virtually no content that doesn’t have moving ads, ads that cover content, ads that have x to close but which are fake (i.e., they don’t close anything). Absolutely horrible. Some ads are understandable, but this is like… a browser from the 1990s that has been hijacked by adware. I am sure flipboard will respond (as they always do) that it is not them that generate the content. Simply not true: the same sites under Safari, or Chrome or even Apple News behave reasonably. This ads are injected by flipboard, which is obvious as they have 0 respect, for the content. Besides: flipboard could itself limit the scope of ads in the platform. The inevitable conclusion is that these ads are generated by flipboard, flipboard gets the revenue directly and thus have no interest in cleaning things.

Not sure how I'd live without it. Flipboard has become my go-to app for news on everything. Its intuitive and easy to use interface makes browsing--or "flipping" through articles and stories feel natural and its constantly improving algorithms tend to deliver relevant, meaningful content from the spectrum of interests you define. Linking related stories at the end of an article ensures you can always go deeper. Highly integrated with ios, this app has been on my home screen for several years now, and it's one of the first apps i install on any new iDevice. Virtually bug-free, very solid app; ads are minimal, applicable, and non-intrusive. Couldn't recommend more.

Reader view is not working. Flipboard is technically meeting Apple's requirement by pretending reader view is there, but in reality it is no longer working. Any business insider article has a non functioning reader view, I feel this is being done by Flipboard to get some kickback from the website they are promoting to force one to pay for articles. Anyway this app used to be wonderful years ago, now it is saturated by crappy ads that you cannot block or cannot even give feedback or report on. Also how they are promoting certain content is questionable. (Note the developer response, no denial of reader view not working - and no mention of their ridiculous ads, and lol at all they have is to mute articles. Says a lot of how they view customer these days) Once again, yup they are still blocking reader view for certain websites - such as business insider

Broad range of stories but poor filtering. This app is great for the broad story subject matter but the thumbs up/down interest feature doesn’t work very well. It builds a memory of story subject matter based on stories you tap on and read. However, the stories begin to be repetitive and it is hard to filter out these repetitive stories. Ex. After viewing a few stories about weather, all I see now for every other story is an article about weather in some place in the world. Clicking on the thumbs down for these stories does not lessen the number of weather stories. It’s almost to the point now that I may use another news app instead.

Decent, but has problems. I like the app and use it daily to keep up on headlines. However, the app will sometimes post stories that are literally years old. This has happened multiple times, and Flipboard’s fine-tuning options don’t let you differentiate between new stories and old, they only let you block topics. I’ve tried marking them as “uninteresting”, but I don’t know if they’re getting WHY I don’t care about a story about Tesla’s “new” P85d with Ludacris mode- because it’s 2018 now. Also, the app will post stories unrelated to the topics you actually want. For instance, I follow College Football. But now I also get stories about women’s college lacrosse and other asinine sports. I use the app daily, it’s got the sticky factor. But I also get tired of having to skip through a few dozen stories to find one I actually want to read.

Great with som frustrating quirks. Overall this is a great app to scroll through to read some current and topical news. However, the last few updates have put some cracks in my love affair with the app. One thing is now when you click on what looks like a story, it takes you to a feed with that story and other related stories. Annoying to find something you want to read and then having to scroll through a list of stories that are similar to find the one you clicked on to begin with. Also, it seems like the stories I choose take me to a story I have to pay to read or have to log in to another site to read. On the plus side, I do love how easy it is to open a story in a browser.

Cool way to keep up with news. You pick all kinds of topics you want to follow, the list is expansive. Then it curates articles based on your categories. When you want to catch up on a topic, simply click on your area of interest. Articles are presented in a magazine like format and you click on what you want to read further. You can heart an article, or save it into one of your own magazines that you can create about anything. Name it whatever, put any article you want in it. It has a social element to it where ppl can like or follow your content, but I just like the look and feel of it being a news app.

Great App - Horrible Community. When I first came across this app, it was a great source for news and other meaningful current events and topics...then the community reared its racist, biased, and predominantly narrow-minded head. From the trolls to the easily insulted by opinion or differing viewpoints. This app is completely ruined by a toxic community the likes of Parlor (and that’s putting it mildly). I couldn’t enjoy any conversations without someone immediately finding fault with anything I shared. If I liked an article, someone had to tell me why I was “ignorant” or a “liberal” for my viewpoint. If I disagreed with an article someone had to tell me why I was a “Russian bot”. From hate, political insanity, and racism, to Misogyny this app runs the gambit of everything you might dislike in a toxic community. Worse - I responded to one hate filled individual who disagreed with me and was immediately sent an email for me to “watch my step” or risk a ban. Does anyone actually review their complaints for legitimacy?! It seems like anyone can simply report another user and off goes their email without any manner of verification as to the facts. Absolutely would give this a rating if it was not for the toxic community around it.

Suggestion for Ads. First of all, I wanted to say that I appreciate the hard work put into this app. I’ve done the most minimal of programming tasks but it helped me understand how complex and involved the process is, and mainly how it seems to consist of unforeseen troubleshooting and bug-fixing. (patience is clearly a required skill for any type of programming). I noticed the last time I opened the app that there was a balloon that told me to use the reader sparingly as it hides ads whose revenue the developers depend upon to maintain and improve Flipboard. I certainly understand this. The problem is, the reader seems to be the only way to enable any kind of dark mode. I have gone out of my way to make sure any screens I’m using (be it phone, tablet, or monitor), especially those with text I’m going to be reading for any length of time, are dark with white text. If It’s possible to give us a feature that will allow us to enable dark mode without disabling ads, I will gladly use that option instead. Otherwise, I’m afraid it’s a dealbreaker (I just can’t stand the glaring white screen). Thank you all again for this awesome app!

This used to be 5 stars. I have been using Flipboard for a while now, and I used to really enjoy it. The app has a great selection of news stories and articles, and the layout and design are very user-friendly. However, in recent weeks, I have noticed that there are some graphical bugs that make it impossible to scroll and read stories. This has been very frustrating, and it has made the app much less enjoyable to use. I hope that the developers of Flipboard will fix these bugs soon, as I would like to be able to give the app a higher rating. Until then, I can only give Flipboard three stars. Once the bugs are fixed, I am confident that I will be able to give the app a five-star rating again.

Time to stop. I’ve been using Flipboard since I can remember, and that’s more than 10 years. It’s been the only app where I get my news from, but it seems like it’s time to stop. I really wanna keep liking this app because of its simplicity, but the team seems to be removing some of the best features I loved about it. And other options like Feedly is really killing it. When you clicked on an article, it used to open in the “Reader View” by default. Now it just open the website directly. What’s the point of using the app then? I get it some websites might now work well with the RSS feed, but at least give us an option to set the default so I don’t have tab the “Reader View” every time or be blinded by those bright white background websites.

less like this button not effective. Honestly I used to love flipboard. However nowadays it seems like every other article is about coronavirus. I know it’s bad but honestly it’s just smth i wanna forget about so eveytime I open this app and am reminded of how the world is ending its a little annoying. Then i discovered the less like this button. I was hype i was finally going to be able to see less coronavirus articles... I was wrong. I haven’t seen a decrease in articles and at this point scrolling thru the articles is just as annoying as the idea of the coronavirus itself. Not to mention one of my family members uses this app and the amount she has freaked out abt the virus is due to this app. It has completely scared the bejesus out of her. All I want is an effective see less like this button so I don’t have to think about the coronavirus anymore.

Too Many Ads. I used to really love this app and how it consolidated my news into one place, but like the rest of the internet these days it’s basically just ads run amok now. Some stories have ads literally between each individual sentence. So many ads it’s hard to tell what’s actually part of the article or where it actually ends. Fortunately, there is an option to just open the story in Safari where I just use an ad blocker. I used to be able to block certain publishers like cosmo and buzzfeed but now I can’t and so much of their sponsored content garbage is on every other flip it seems. On top of the ads, it doesn’t seem to take note of my preferences and ratings. How many times I’ve disliked a story to say I’m not interested in sports, cars, or celebrity gossip and still half of what it shows is those categories. Didn’t used to be like that.

Great app... but the reader view.... There’s so much that makes Flipboard great, and all of it is made useless by the reader view. I’ve used Flipboard almost daily for at least 6 or 7 years. In one of the recent updates (can’t remember exactly when) they introduced a reader view that is supposed to make articles and posts readable in a uniform format. But the reader view, which automatically attempts to convert many articles and posts, is very slow and glitchy. I’m left with a blank screen, waiting and waiting to see if the reader view will actually open. Also, since the reader view seems to be designed to cut down on clutter, some photos might be removed if and when it does open. I’m into home improvement so photos is part of what I’m looking for in the posts I read. Again, the reader view is automatic on many articles and posts. I can’t find any way to turn off the reader view or stop it from automatically rendering. I’ve looked through settings many times, there doesn’t seem to be any way to stop it. Flipboard has been a great source for me for several years, but the reader view has been awful! Clear the reader view is supposed to improve user experience, but it has ruined it for me.

They feed you what the want in your feed.. I really do like Flipboard. It is an easy to use, pleasant GUI environment. HOWEVER, after using Flipboard for several years, I can quite assertively state that Flipboard must have $ agreements with some “content providers” because I have hundreds of feeds that I am following, but in my “For You” which should be grabbing stuff from all my feeds, it actually pushes mostly the same content companies and even the same articles that I am not interested in at all, over weeks and/or months. I just ignore them and go to the next, but I have noticed that over the years, the ads, and the sham content have grown. Still worth it, but they dirty their name by feeding me things I didn’t ask for nor want.

Reader view default option please??. Love Flipboard: used it to replace Apple News after Apple News started charging me for everything I wanted to see. I guess it serves me right for ‘liking’ articles in Apple News for the past few years. Looks like I taught Apple’s algorithms exactly what to force me pay for. The only problem with Flipboard is that you can’t turn on Reader View by default. For me, reader mode is shown in dark mode. But whenever I view an article in Flipboard, it’s in blinding white light while I scramble to select Reader View by hand. How come we can’t get dark mode by default in 2021? Apple News can do default dark mode…why not Flipboard?

My favorite news app!. There are lots of news apps out there. From the Flipboard first launched, it's been my favorite. I love the interface - flipping through the news items is just right for mobile devices. I love the fact that I can connect my newspaper and magazine subscriptions to get unfettered access to material from those sources. Also love the sharing features. If you haven't already tried it, I would strongly recommend you make it your primary news app! Love the transition it’s making towards allowing me to follow articles related to my passions and hobbies such as photography!

Bots and a dash of misinformation. I do love reading the news with this app because it’s all in one place. That being said the comments on the articles contain quite a lot of activity from accounts that, once you click into, are fairly suspect. One account even had some users create a hashtag to call out an account with “Jim” in its name in an effort to call it out. There are actually many similarly structured users with “(something) Jim” as their name and all like to make inflammatory remarks structured in the same way.. hmm. I’d recommend either finding a way to combat fake users (like Twitter and Facebook have been) or simply remove it entirely. Also the app will pulp articles from outlets that, when you do some light digging, are actually not correct. How are you protecting against bringing in sites spreading misinformation? Just some thoughts. Update Lowered star rating due to now getting random posts from Reddit and am not allowed to remove as a source for content. Stories repeat, seems even less content is being pulled so nothing new to see and rather dull. Ads are intrusive and you can’t report ads that might be offensive. The fake user commenting and causing inflammatory remarks is still around but when you make any comment anyone doesn’t like you get reported and in trouble. The moderation is a joke and so is this app.

Fake App - designed for Supremacists '. UPDATE: Flipboard responded by stating absolutely nothing of value: “activity that violates our terms… will be removed!” Well, that’s just it. Supremacists and Zionists who attack everyone else on Flipboard NEVER GET THEIR COMMENTS REMOVED! You’re a bunch of hypocrites or controlled by supremacists! This app is a Haven for supremacists (regardless from what part of the world) who will gang-up and submit multiple complaints if they deem your post to question their agendas. In other words, freedom of speech is afforded to anyone who attacks, Christians, Christianity, Islam or Muslims. But dare to criticize Zionism, and you’re INSTANTLY blocked. What’s next Flip-flop? An oath and salute to Nazism to be able to post and comment on your boards? You allow hate speech and look the other way if it agrees with your agenda. You’re a bunch of TRumpists who are ignorant, biased and full of hate!

Flipboard. My go to magazine online for news, recipes and the latest information on technology. I check in on the site several times a day and have found great recipes, plus the sites to find more recipes. Tech magazines with the latest information and links to inc., for tips to make it through the office jungle. Being able to save articles for future reference is a wonderful feature offered by Flipboard. I always suggest to friends that they should take time to put the app on their phone. You can even give your opinion in the comments section. After several years of using the app, I can definitely recommend it.

Gone Downhill. Flipboard was great when it worked smoothly and wasn’t full of advertisements and bait and switch articles. Now, I’m thinking about just deleting it and saving myself the frustration. Over the past few months the quality of this app has noticeably deteriorated. A lot. It feels like every other flip is now for an ad formatted to look like a real article (personally, I think this borders on ethically questionable). Many of the legitimate articles take you to sites that require a paid subscription. To my knowledge, there is no way to alter the settings in the app to avoid this. Worse, the app hardly even works lately. The pages don’t flip, tapping on an article of interest does nothing or takes you to something else entirely (often, another ad). Restarting the app does not help. So sad to see it go from one of my favorite apps to the glitchy mess it is now.

Good Mixture of Articles but Crashes all the Time. I like Flipboard and I have been using it for many years. It has a good variety of articles from many different sources, which I like. I also like it that you can organize them based on your preferences. I usually would start out with the “News” section to read all the latest news. I would then go to specific topics I enjoy reading. Unfortunately, it has been crashing a lot. I have an iPad 7th gen and iOS 14.8. Still, it crashes all the time. Sometimes the article would try to load some stupid ads and mess up the entire article. It’s very frustrating. I hope the developer is reading this and please consider putting more effort in debugging.

Still the Best. I’ve been with Flipboard from the beginning. Tons of news readers have come and gone, but Flipboard has stood the test of time. Aside from Pulse (which was bought out by LinkedIn) Flipboard was one of the first to make news available in a desktop browser. “My magazines” took it to another level. Apple made an impressive entry into this market but it still is second to Flipboard. Apple’s elitist approach to curation (as a way to make money) is a hindrance to its success. The only thing I would like to see is the ability to easily set up individual blog entries. That way people can really follow you and not just the articles you collect.

Betterment of life and all its tentacles.. Flipboard is my news paper my magazine of everything I like to study. It’s the teachers I wish I would have had when younger. Flipboard quickens getting to what I want it has no hitches or rolls of wasted time. Flipboard puts you touch with everything in like of this universe. I have found no other card catalog that compares. It has made me a chef of more than four cultures. My gardens are close to rivaling the greatest gardener of all time , my Mother Bonnie❤️ My health knowledge helps keep friends and family alive. I counsel on team building and holes in payrolls. I am blessed to listen to the sounds of earth for she does speak. I could go on for a book or two maybe many who knows? I do! Flipboard has made me fit many more facets of life than anyone could want. I wanted I’m not anyone I’m somebody that wants to know of the know. I hunt for the reason of the not knowing and have found so many in psychology study and the mind of human species. I hope this spout strikes any that read it I hope it shakes you and leads you to a betterment of life you want. Blessings to any it does❤️

Great content, but slow, and hard to manage. Love, love, love the content. Love how it adapts to what I like. Wish it loaded are articles faster like it did years ago. Now, some articles are so agonizingly slow that I abandon them. I especially hate the ones which are broken up into multiple pages and have a "next page" link at the bottom. Would also like to be able to manage my personal magazines more easily. Ideas include ability to delete an article more easily. It takes an excessive number of "slow" steps now. A thumbnail view and ability to select multiple articles to move and/or delete would be great. Ability to search within personal magazines would also serve well.

Sadly, no reader view option. This was my favorite news reading app that gave me illusion Of being able to curate the information from the web lI want. But that wasn’t quite true. It is tricky to add a website you like to be the source of the news you want to read. lately it fails to meet my expectations making app harder to use because of weird unresolved bugs in updates like showing unrelated images next to articles, repeating same content from different sources, showing articles from the sources that require subscription and being just a general mess of various layouts, fonts of all sizes and low quality content. I remember Flipboard looked better in the past. And reader view is still desperately missing. 3 stars from me.

Great concept, beautiful layout, but.... The filters are so deficient that I can’t keep the news sewage from bubbling over into my otherwise beautiful screen. At first I thought it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world to know what the other side is reading. But by God. What? Need I really dodge Tucker Carlson’s pearls of wisdom every time I open this app? This is what my app usage boils down to: I’ll read a crazy headline and think “what!?”, look more closely, and then confirm that the source is far from reputable, flip on, repeat. And for some reason, I can’t simply make it so the culprit never makes it to my screen again. Why? What y’all need to do to make this app better is to allow users to silence (at a very minimum) the glaring propaganda. Because, I don’t know, democracy? Your move, Flipboard.

Unresponsive to touch - fixt. I am on iOS 11.2.5 and the application is unresponsive to touch. I have force closed the application and restarted. I have also deleted and reinstalled application. Restarting iPhone also does not resolve the issue. One star rating is in the hope of getting visibility and not a real review of the application. I love the application and use it daily but it has been a week and I can’t use “news” anymore. Heaven help me!! Currently I am slumming it on safari which helps curb the urge but it’s just not the same as your wonderful application. Can’t use support function from App Store because it forces me to app (stupid phone it’s unresponsive to touch) and am obviously lazy and refuse to look for an answer on pc. Love the app just let me know I am not crazy and the issue is real. If it is an update to resolve this is coming soon would bring me back to civilization and the wonders of endless news and information. Update: restarting phone finally worked updated rating. Pretty sure my review expresses my love for the app! Thanks, The dude

Has Irritating Model. Many times you click on a news article and have to subscribe. Jeez you can have to subscribe to 15 sites to read articles over 40% of articles. Makes u nuts. Also it freezes my iPad and I have to restart several times a week. Model needs work. Also another issue that makes you nuts is that with papers you have to subscribe to the login information is not cached so you have to login every new article read. Basically frustrating. I end up many times just reading COMMENTS so as not to have to go thru the steps to read and comments give the idea.

Flipboard App Suggestion. It would be great if the creators of this sort of app could actually try to get every type of magazine company in the world to join in and do work with it. If they were to do this sort of thing, then there is no telling how convenient it would be for all those who would rather read the digital version of them depending on how they learn. It would also be most convenient because no matter what type of magazine that they would want to read, that then they would all always still be available for them on the app itself regardless of the type of magazine it is that they would want to read.
