TeachMe: 1st Grade App Description & Overview

What is teachme: 1st grade app? *** WINNER for Best Elementary Student App at BestAppEver.com
*** Readers' Choice Top 10 at SmartAppsForKids.com

TeachMe: 1st Grade is the third installment in the popular TeachMe series of educational apps. TeachMe: 1st Grade teaches four age-appropriate subjects to first grade children: sight words, addition, subtraction and spelling. Learning subjects align with common core standards to help your child get prepared for 1st Grade. Parents can review performance history for each subject to check how their child is doing.

TeachMe: 1st Grade keeps children engaged with a unique reward system where children earn coins by playing learning games at the school. They can move around the rest of TeachTown to spend their coins on fun rewards. Children can collect stretchable shapes at the Shape Store, visit their virtual aquarium at the Fish Store, and decorate different scenes at the art store. The simple and intuitive user interface is designed to be child friendly, which allows children to play without help from an adult. An animated teacher (Mimi Mouse) gives verbal instructions and feedback to encourage the child to learn and succeed! In addition, the learning screens are colorful, fun and rotate between four different subjects so children don't get bored.

Children write their answers for math and spelling questions and TeachMe: 1st Grade reads them. If your child needs help, TeachMe: 1st grade will show them how to write the correct answer including the proper stroke order. TeachMe also includes a virtual keyboard input option.

Each child has an achievements screen which motivates and encourages learning by showing progress and levels for each topic. Parents can use this screen to quickly see progress of their child. Parents can select which subjects they want, set different difficulty levels, and even choose specific questions. Parents can also review performance history for each subject to check how their child is doing.

Terrific!. I am so impressed with the quality apps from 24x7digital. TeachMe: 1st Grade continues the terrific learning, entertainment and engaging elements of TeachMe: Kindergarten and TeachMe: Toddler. The new character recognition tool added to this app is instruction and fun. It is a terrific instructional scaffolding tool perfect for children. The feedback is intuitive and helpful. As a mom and preschool/early childhood educational consultant I have high standards for technology that promises learning and entertainment with a seamless delivery. TeachMe: 1st grade delivers on all levels. This is another great product from skilled developers. Kids and parents will love this app! Highly recommended.

Like it, but letter recognition is tough for some. After going through TeachMe Toddler and TeachMe kindergarden, this app is really great … my just-turned-5 year old is cruising with it. Recognition of the handwritten letter "m" is really off it seems. Even I have a hard time getting Ms mouse to recognize that one when he complains she's not see it. The reward system in the app is great and very encouraging. He loves his goldfish and works hard to buy food and things for their tank. More things would be great, always. ;-)

Awesome App! Autism Prove Educational Knowledge. My son who is 8 years old, and has Autism. He is verbal however tests poorly and due to school issues we are unable to access special education services, however this app is wonderful in that it allows you to really "see" what your child knows and is learning. I love that it records a snapshot of my sons writing, and is helping him to learn that we write for others to read. He is more willing to try to make each letter correctly. He likes the friendly mouse who gives instant praise for correct answers and encouragement to try again when it can not read an answer. Love the being able to trace the correct spelling words. Would like to be able to turn off that feature so that he cant give up easily. I have shared this app with our tutor, occupational therapist, speech and lanuguage therapist, and soon the classroom teacher. I have recommended it to other families wtih children with a Autism Spectrium Disorder. Thanks for a great app. Looking forward to then next one!

WONDERFUL!!. I don't usually review in all caps, but felt it was appropriate for Teach Me. I have a 4 year-old boy who, like many boys his age, is struggling a bit with language. (this is compounded by the fact that we have him in a Mandarin immersion program, but that's another story). Since I handed him my iPhone with Teach Me, he's been engrossed with learning. Unlike many other game-based learning apps, this one doesn't result in burn-out after 5 minutes. He can easily go for 30 minutes if I let him. It's a vivid example of the love of learning in action. The app is robust and deep. He's been using this game now for about 15 minutes a day (during our drive to school) for the last two weeks. And he still has a ways to go. It's clear that there has been significant attention to detail when designing the app. Someone on the team at this company "gets it" when it comes to early childhood learning. The star leveling system, the piggy bank and aquarium pet store rewards are brilliant. 99 cents was a bargain. I hope you guys are working on Teach Me 2nd Grade!! Thank You!!

TeachMe 1st Grade Rocks!. I originally got the iPad for grown up business stuff but quickly saw how great a touch screen is in empowering little kids to learn. The iPad UI is fantastic - thank and God Bless you Apple & Steve. Now onto the TeachMe apps. I love these apps and so do my kids. We have them all; Toddler, Kindergarten, 1st Grade and they all rock. Math, spelling, sight words, listening and handwriting all rolled into 1 fun and educational package. A really nice feature is the ability to set how many answers they need to get right before earning a virtual coin and going off to the virtual store to buy virtual prizes - no need to worry about any in app purchase rip off. The app motivates, educates, teaches some very fundamental financial literacy and tracks progress! At last count I had over 560 apps - the majority for my kids - so much for all that grown up stuff - maybe Santa will bring me my very one iPad 3:). In any event these apps are worth every penny. My kids love these apps as much as Where's My Water and other pure gaming apps. That says it all. Thank you 24x7 digital, you guys rock!

Daughter loves it and so do I!. I have tried many learning apps with my now six year old. This one wins hands down. TeachMe is easy for her to use and provides the right amount of challenge to ensure she learns the concepts, but is exciting enough for her to enjoy the process. I have always had a difficult time convincing her to sit down and learn because she would become very frustrated. Now, she is growing in confidence and loves earning rewards!

Love this App!!. I teach first grade and use iPod Touches as learning tools in my classroom. I had used the Kindergarten app before the first grade app was created. I would use it for review or with my lower functioning students. However, this app for First Grade is now used by all of my students!!! The love it! They call it the Mouse Game!! They learn so much! App is fantastic for all learners! I just wish you didn't have to pay for additional student users, but I understand why it's necessary. I will happily buy any app this company creates! P.S. Someone in development at this company should get in touch with the mathematics company that makes Investigations & Envisions and turn their learning games like Roll & Record or 5 in a Row into apps! The kids (and teachers) would love it!!!!!

Love it but..... I love this app. My son is having a difficult time in 1st grade so this on the weekends keeps everyone happy. Us for the little extra math practice my son gets and my son, who thinks this is a video game where you can buy 'prizes' with the coins he collects. The PROBLEM is he has figured out to push the '?' button on the problems, with then gives him the answer. I really wish this could be disabled and then I would definally give this 5 stars.

Oustanding App!!. I got the Kindergarden version for my daughter and LOVED it!! It reinforces things already being taught at school... Great time spending learning and having FUN all at the same time. I decided to get the 1st Grade app, and my daughter enjoys this even the more. It is an advanced version, but it only builds and challenge from the previous one... I just hope they can keep the app growing from here, next I want Teach Me: 2nd Grade :-)

Super amazing. This app has been a favorite of my daughters. It uses creative and fun ways to teach skills to children. This was worth every penny spent! I was so happy to find a first grade app also. Our daughter plays both. Not only does this app teach skills but also how to save money. Our daughter loves to save her coin rewards for bigger reward stickers! GREAT JOB A++++++ Will you create a second grade app?

Improve on perfection?. I love this app!! It is fabulous for my special needs son. There is one thing that could make it even better… allowing the option to take out the "handwriting component". My son is struggling to learn. When handwriting is combined with the skill of spelling or math it overwhelms him. Often he gets the answer correct but can't get the program to 'recognize' his answer due to handwriting quirks. I would love to see handwriting as a separate category with the option to have the student answer questions either in handwriting or by selecting the answer on a keyboard. Otherwise, I think the app is wonderful and would highly recommend it! Thank you.

This app is the best!. I really like it you get to go shopping and learn and it’s just the best you should get it it’s really good the money is worth it

Hands down the best!. I've been buying apps for my kids like crazy. I look for apps that are educational but fun. The kids lose interest in most apps in a day or two but this app is so varied that my 6 year old rushes through her homework to learn more math and reading with this app. It really works too! It's not just a game with a light learning it's full on education.

Great educational tool!. This is, by far, our family's favorite and longest used educational ap. The reward system is very helpful in keeping my kids interested as they learn. The settings allow you to customize learning. I would give this ap 5 stars if the keyboard was a normal QWERTY keyboard. An alphabetized keyboard may make things easier in the short run, but kids these days need to get used to QWERTY boards. I do prefer the keyboard option over the handwriting option which is difficult to use.

Very difficult. No matter how you write the answers, the “teacher” tells you it’s wrong. Extremely frustrating for my 6 year old and highly disappointing since I paid for this

Worth every penny. This is a very good program. It tracks progress and has helped my two 6 year old girls. They made it to level 5 on all the areas but spelling. They are stuck on level 4 and are loosing steam. But this after weeks of daily progress and fun. They enjoyed the program and this helped them learn and write a little better.

Fantastic. My 6 year old loves this app. It has a great ratio of reinforcement and a variety of ways to spend the coins to maintain interest. She is practicing skills that she needs for school success and enjoying it. I especially love the feature where you can write the answer. My child struggles with letter reversals and I think this is really helping. Sometimes, the writing portion is a bit finicky, but I am very pleased with this app.

Very Helpful - Runs at Child's Pace. My son is 4.5 and he just loves this application. He was doing very well in Math and finished the kindergarten set a month back. I was worried about letting him try this first grade app, but things have been going very well so far. He has learnt to write numbers better and mentally solve simple figures. I'm amazed by the depth of conceptual understanding reinforced by this app which we witness in our day to day life and play. One last thing, my son is just so-so with reading and phonics, so we've just tip-toed around letters for the longest time. This app lets him learn at his own pace, which is currently just getting familiar with first, middle, and last sounds and very basic sight words. In fact he would have avoided any reading altogether if it were not for the cool silly band awards! Well done!!!

Great app. This is a great app. I already had teach me toddler and all 3 kids loved it. Two of my kiddos have autism and are really just beginning to vocalize. I thought this app might be a little too advanced but decided to give it a try. They love it. They are already doing the math and spelling. I am amazed at how much they love this app and how much they use it. I plan to recommend it to everyone!

Excellent. My son is working on his spelling and word recognition over the summer and I am happy to say, he's loving earning rewards through this app. He also recently broke his arm and is learning to write left handed for a few weeks. The writing recognition part is no problem for him. He knows when it doesn't look right and very easily hits the eraser button and tries again!

Horrible app, not worth the money. I want a refund. This app doesn’t give you the ability to choose a subject or a game. It’s lazy. Waste of 2$ and frustrated my 6 year old within minutes of playing. I wanted to find a game that would help him practice subtracting. This is not it

Nostalgic. I used to play this game all the time for school and it brings back so many memories. Thank you

WONDERFUL learning AND fun app. I don't review apps often and feel moved to let creators and potential buyers know how great this app is. It is rich in so many aspects. Word recognition, basic math skills, writing letters and numbers all linked to a nice incentive "store" where kids can buy an aquarium, as one choice, and keep adding to it. My 6 year old uses it daily on his own. Very encouraging, clear voices. Easy app to operate and really does help kids master some important skills in a kind, fun environment. Wish more kid learning apps were half this good. Thank you for creating it.

Amazing learning app!. I love this app! My 4 going on 5 year old daughter is currently using it. I have worked a lot with her on reading and sounding out words but not so much with adding, subtracting and writing. We started with teach me toddler and teach me kindergarten. She has gone through those and mastered the info and now is at the 1st grade level. When we first started using it the writing portion was a little difficult for her but with time and practice she has gotten the hang of it and enjoys writing outside of the app with great improvement!

Fantastic educational ap. I am a 2nd grade teacher and my daughter is just finishing kindergarten. She loves playing this ap. She has been playing the kindergarten one for about 6 months and we just bought her first grade. She has been playing at least an hour a week. She is begging for us to buy her 2nd grade. Ha!! Needless to say she loves it. Great practice, especially for sight words and basic addition and subtraction facts.

Perfect. Amazing game, definitely recommended.

Awesome App. This is a very comprehensive educational app. Children learn math skills (add/subtract), spelling, recognizing sight words and proper writing. The child has to spell the words or answer the math equation correctly by writing their answer. The coins earned as a reward can be spent on stickers for a scene. So this actually gives them some skills with earning and spending. I havent taken the time to rate other apps but this one is so good I had to. Worth every cent and more. I wish there was a 2nd grade level!!!

So Good, would be Super if it included time & currency.. I was amazed when I found this application at the end of our first grade year. My favorite part was that the kids actually got to enter the answer using their finger or stylus instead of selecting from a list of prepared answers - such good feedback on neatness and actually knowing the answer. If it included time & currency then it would be an excellent all around tool for learning & reviewing. It could also move along a little faster, my kids have short attention spans for anything truly educational and the time it takes to deposit the coins has them ready to move onto something else. But an excellent product for the price.

Pleasantly Surprised. My first grader really enjoys this app, it’s well worth the price. The rewards are a nice touch to keep the kids interested. Occasionally the character recognition has a hard time deciding what is being written. The repetitiveness is bit too repetitive for my liking; I would rather see a wider variation of challenges. Overall I give this a 5 Start Rating, and like an earlier post, when can we expect 2nd grade?

A GREAT APP! with 1 Glitch, please fix...... My son, age 6, has LOVED this App. He has the kindergarten and 1st grade versions. He loves to earn coins and "buy" rewards. If he spends all the coins, he says "Well I have to go back to school!" Such a great lesson the learn. I have only found 1 glitch on the 1st Grade level. When he needs to write the "arm", it never accepts the letter "m". I've tried to write for him and it doesn't accept any attempt, Capitol letter, lower case, different kinds of strokes. He gets REALLY frustrated and just turns it off to play something else. Please fix this glitch and the App be PERFECT!!

Wonderful!!!. I have never cared enough to review an app before although I make it a point to read others' reviews before any purchase. This app was well worth the tiny cost and I would have happily paid more for it! Watching my 6 yr old daughter practice these skills with such excitement and enthusiasm was a joy! As I have 4 kids (ages 6, 4, 3 & 2), I went back and purchased the toddler, kindergarten and 2nd grade versions as well. The automatic rotation of subjects including math, writing and reading is wonderful and keeps kids who prefer to stick to the one subject they feel most comfortable with on a very well rounded track. Well done!!!

Had promise. This appWhat is promising but it just repeats the same 20 questions over and over

Highly Engaging, Fun App for Kids to Learn Basic Math/Spelling. We started out on the Kindergarten version which we loved, and moved on to the First Grade app. Well, this app definitely lives up to the kindergarten version. My kid will happily "play" this app. It can be a little frustrating for her with the letter recognition not recognizing her letters--but it certainly has made her a more careful writer! And again, like the kindergarten app, this is a nice mix of reinforced learning, play and rewards. Well worth the price!

A household favorite.. I am very impressed with the quality of this app. Yes, the handwriting recognition is not perfect, but it is far superior to requiring me daughter to type in her answers. Overall, it is actually pretty forgiving of little hands' imperfect letters. Some things we like: This app let's you control how many times a student must answer each question before it is marked as "learned." The rewards system is simple, but effective. There are no timers. A real voice asks the questions. As opposed to those horrible computer voices that are very difficult for young child's to understand. My daughter wakes me up in the morning asking to play it. This is the ONLY educational app where this has been the case.

Best best learning app for pre-schoolers & 1st graders. I don't write reviews. But for this one I had to. It has been amazing to see the amount of interest and dedication my young children have started to show towards learning with this app. Math, spelling, writing ... Gradually, but very slowlythe difficulty increases, they LOVE earning coins, learning to save and appreciate hard work. The kids learn so much using this app and have more fun doing math than ever. Thank you! This is almost like khan academy... Hopefully we see more educational reward games like this...also for higher grades?

K's Gram. K started with kindergarten and moved up to 2nd grade. She is 6yrs old and well above avg in 1 st grade. She begs to play the games, even quickly finishing chores to use. It not only teaches the three R's but how to save coins earned and plan ahead to spend. Also using imagination to design her scene scapes. Thank you for this family of apps. It keeps kids guiet in car and while running errands. We all love it for its simplicity of use and worth as an education tool. Keep up the good work 24x7 digital you are doing a good thing. Thanks again.

Mostly great. I got this app because I (and my daughter) love Teachme Kindergarden. But there is one thing I don't like about this app. I like that you have to write the answers, but it doesn't allow my daughter to write the letter/numbers the way she was taught. When writing you can't take your finger away. So thing of a capital G, 5, even lowercase g where you basically write a c then a j without a dot. The app would only recognize the c portion. If this was fixed it would be 5 stars.

This App is 10 Star!!!. My first grade 6 year old child has learnt the most with this App! No other app matches to this one. Lots of reward system. Very educational! My son is addicted to this & doesn't even realize that he has learnt so much! Levels go up at the right pace. Hope they come out with 2nd grade. I hope they incorporate more subjects like time, money, science & social studies. At least time & money. Thanks for such a wonderful App!

Great practice/review tool. My kindergartner LOVES this. Once she started playing, she played for 30 minutes ( I make her get off after that long). She did great wth the concepts in all areas. The only trouble we had is her formation of letters was read incorrectly. I had to teach her to look at what THEY think she is writing before she gets it checked. That seemed to help. I was confused by the "learned" and "unlearned" until I found out that she has to show some kind of "mastery" before it says she has officially learned the concept. That makes sense. I think she will enjoy playing for hours to come (well, maybe half hours!).

Wish it had a "lock" feature!. My son, who has Downs' Syndrome, LOVES Teach Me Kindergarten and Teach Me 1st Grade. He is so smart but needs a lot of repetition to make the learning stick in his mind. I love how this game uses repetition and rewards. He responds so well to the soft-spoken mouse teacher. Her words of encouragement sound very genuine. And he loves earning coins so he can buy stickers and fish food. The only feature I wish this app had is a lock feature to keep the child "in" the game and not allow them to wander into other functions on my iphone. My son has deleted pages from my notepad, emails, contact info, photos and has rearranged my settings. Sometimes I let him play the games in the car while I'm driving or doing chores around the house. I can't possibly watch everything he is doing. I know he is just exploring and doesn't do anything with malintent. I want him to learn and enjoy the games but can't afford to lose any important info off my phone.

It Really Works!. We started with the Kindergarten app and my daughter loved it. Now that she's in first grade and we've graduated to the next level, she loves it even more. It's easily one of her favorite apps on the iPad. She's shown a remarkable improvement in math and writing. I can basically leave her alone with it and she'll play for an hour straight just to get enough coins to fill up her fish tank. I hope they release a 2nd grade version for next year.

Quite a nice app for price. Both my sons like this app. My younger son while very bright has poor handwriting so there is a feature where you can enable a keyboard so he can select the correct number or letter. I totally relate to feedback that handwriting can be frustrating. My 7 yo has trouble on second grade app with his handwriting being recognized but again for them to both be practicing math, reading, etc on an inexpensive app - especially one that does NOT require additional in app purchase makes this an awesome app. SO many of these educational games require An in app purchase that when your kid reaches a certain level you have to pay another $5-10.

Well worth the money!. I never write reviews, but this one deserves 5 stars. I have the 1st grade for my 6 year old and the toddler version for my 4 year old. Challenging enough for them to learn. Easy enough for them to operate by themselves. Fun enough for them to ask "can I do school on your phone?". The rewards r age appropriate and motivating. Well done! I can't think of anything I would change.

Excellent Learning Tool. I love this program as a whole, personally I think the rewards could be a little cooler but when you get down to it this app is about learning not the rewards. One critique I do have is that when you have to spell a word, I think it should have underlines or something to signify how many letters are in that word (2, 3, or 4). This is especially annoying to me when a word like 'ball' comes up to spell. My daughter sounds out the word and puts b, a, and l, but she doesn't realize the word contains 2 L's and it's unfortunate to see her get an answer like that wrong when she did so well to sound out the word and get the correct letters. Other than those minor details, this is a great app. Well worth the small price, and overall excellent for learning and/or review.

Great, but could use an improvement. I downloaded this to help my step-son work on his reading and writing. Overall, the app is great and seems to be very helpful. I do, however, have one frustrating gripe. The app makes it too easy for him to get the answer and trace it. All he has to do is press the question mark. I constantly have to tell him not to press it, just try it on his own. It would be great if the developers would either get rid of this option, or at least make it much more difficult for the kids to get the answer without trying. Also, the app has trouble recognizing even his good writing sometimes even my good writing! It would be nice if they could figure out a way to make it easier to read what we write. Other than that, though, the app is wonderful. He loves the prizes he can get for saving up his coins, and his reading and writing have both improved.

Great app!. Fantastic educational app for the bright kindergartner or average first grader. The app is well designed and keeps the children engaged. Any educational game that is fun for kids and gets them learning without their being aware of that fact is a good game indeed. We enjoyed the kindergarten version, love this version, and are looking forward to a "TeachMe: 2nd Grade" edition! This was .99 well spent and I recommend this app to anyone with kindergartners or beginning first-graders.

British English?. My little sister really loves the British Voice on the preschool one if it was possible to get that on the other ones that would just make her day great app otherwise ❤️👌🏻

Great app, with lots of kid-pleasing features. I bought this app for my first grader, who is good with arithmetic but needed practice on spelling. She likes it a lot---she's obsessed with getting coins to buy fish food to feed her fish. The app has four categories it tests: addition, subtraction, spelling and recognizing sight words. The fact that it lets kids use their own handwriting turns out to be a really nice feature. The math is a little on the easy side at the beginning, but apparently it is possible to increase the difficulty. We haven't tried that yet. The only complaint I had was that finding the settings were not intuitive, but an email to the developer was answered within about an hour --- on a Sunday! (To access the settings for each player, click on the list of players and then drill down to a list of settings. ) in particular, it is possible to have this only test spelling, or only arithmetic, or a mixture of both. Overall, I think it's a great app. Absolutely worth the money. One of the best educational apps I've bought, especially for this age group.

Love it. As a teacher, this is will be a great skill building tool in my classroom. I LOVE how I can assign different things per student, the ability to track 40 kids, and the handwriting recognition. Very nice app! The only drawback is that only 4 students are available at one time. I'd love to have this at a learning station as an activity that the students use by clicking their pic/name. Even in small groups I usually have more than 4 students. If you can add the ability to choose any student from the home screen I'd give 5 stars!

Great app!. We love all the Teach Me apps. My 6 year old daughter just finished Teach Me 1st Grade and it was a great way for her to review math, spelling, and sight words. We've just downloaded 2nd Grade and I'm sure my daughter is going to be so excited to use it. My 3 year old son worked through Teach Me Toddler and also loves Teach Me Kindergarten even though he can't do the sight words section on that one yet. Can't say enough good about this app.

Hassles on ipad 3's. We own an ipad 3. We have purchased previous version of Teach Kindergarten and love it. Purchased this one today and looks great for more interaction. However, on using the writing screen where they put the word in eg Dog...it will mispell the letters they spell correctly eg. g = s. It will do this for ages whilst trying to get it to write the correct letter till the child screams in frustration and throws the ipad...not nice for a child with autism who needs a game to work or the parent who had the same trouble so not the childs writing. Needs fixing FAST!!

Mrs. My 2 yr old boy loves this game and my 5 year old girl and my 8 year old girl I wish you had a another game for school age from grade 2 and up they would learn so much and school would be easier for them. Thank you my kids love it:)

Fantastic App!. Great to see you were listening to reviews and gave us the next grade up! Love the introduction of writing the answers perfect for my daughter! I hope you have the next grade in the works! And may I suggest a combined grade iPad app! My son (with autism). Loves the aquarium but can't do the kinder questions. I'd buy a combined app or if you could do an aquarium upgrade to the toddler app???

Highly recommend. Fantastic app! Very well designed and sensibly thought out, with options to practice writing skills or keyboard recognition, and the rewards are engaging enough that my son loves to play it. Highly recommend all of the TeachMe apps, they are favourites in this house.

the best game yet!!. This series of Apps are my daughters favourites, loves the rewards system. Will play for hours if we let her. She describes it as the best game yet!

Great. A really good app for the kids. The only thing I don't like is the annoying voice

Fantastic app. Very good upgrade from the kidney version. Would have been five stars if they had added new rewards (e.g. New fish etc) as it's the same as the rewards.

Awesome fun while still learning !. I bought this app for my 6yr old daughter, who will be starting grade one soon. It is awesome!! It teaches the basics in spelling, and maths and with the added bonus for them to earn coins and spend them in the shop. We use it with the iPad2 and it's great. definatley recommend to any child thats starting Prep or grade 1.

Love it!!. Brilliant app. We love the incentive to collect rewards. Would be better if voiceover was able to be altered for different languages. But thats the only issue

Not updated for iPhone 5. Good game but it will be better if the resolution can be updated for iPhone 5

great. have used this on a friends iPad so know it's good! Well worth the cost!

We LOVE this APP. Have to give a HUGE shout out to the iPad App "Teach Me" series. We have Teach me Toddler, Teach me Kindergarten and Teach me Grade 1. My kids LOVE them. My daughter likes to earn stickers for correct answers, whereas my son likes to earn coins to buy fish for his aquarium. LOVE THIS APP!

Brilliant 1st Grade app. This is a really lovely app for First Graders. The 'teacher' mouse is pleasant, the content is appropriate for the school level and it's fun. My kids love earning coins so they can buy things in the store. My only suggestion is it would be nice to have the option of an Australian accent for us Aussies.

Wonderful. All 3-apps, Toddler, kindergarten, and grade-1 Have been Absolutely wonderful for both my 3 & 5 year olds. It's a truly excellent blend of all the basics and for the price it should be showcased for all parents to see. Simply the best learning app I have found in the past couple years.

Fantastic. My six year old daughter loves it! Great content, she loves earning coins to buy rewards. Best 99cents spent.

Teach me: 1st Grade. 5 Star App! I even use it with my kindergarten class. They love it & parents have asked for the name of the App we play in class.

Not a friendly app for 1st grader. My son is very good at maths. He counts very fast but this app requires to write the answer and letters must be in perfect shape. He is frustrated to use this app. Not a good thinking from app designers. For math answer should be selectable.

Il. I love this app!! Great for my 5 yrs old son!

Great game. I've downloaded dozens of learning games for my kids and the Teach Me group outshines all of them. My kids started playing them before they could even speak, and now at 4 and 5 years old they are miles ahead of any of their classmates. They can both read, spell and do math that other kids years ahead of them can't do. The careful, and gradual steps it takes to teach difficult concepts are genius and they have tons of fun doing it. Even the coin reward system helps to teach them the value of saving money. Fantastic learning tool. If I had one criticism though, I would suggest altering the way the programs let the kids know they've given a wrong answer. The negative sound effect and red X have become something they both dread, to the point that it turns them off the game if they get one. My eldest refuses to even be in the room when my youngest plays for fear he'll hear the sound. I think a better way would be a voice that just says "try again" or an option to turn the sound off, or provide your own sounds, or something along those lines.

Great game but one major problem.... This is a great game but the way it shows a wrong answer with the red "X" and negative sound effect needs to be changed. It's too aggressive for small children and makes them feel bad. Getting a wrong answer isn't as bad as not trying and the negative result makes them afraid and anxious to even try. A simple "uh oh, try again" (with a sad emoticon) or something friendly like that would be much more effective and less destructive method of getting the message across, and would reinforce the need to keep trying. Better yet, providing the ability to modify the sound to one of a preset bunch or even providing a custom sound that the child responds well too would be ideal. Please do so, my kids have learned a lot from this set of games but are getting very close to giving up on them because of this problem.

Great app. This application is great . my daughter spends several hours to learn math and writing. I have bought three version of this app{Toddler, kindergarten, and 1st Grade}The last one is the best because kids can spend points to purchase their favourite items. Please add DIVISION and MULTIPLY to math section.

Engaging App!!!. Great for the kids!!! There are apps that are fun, there are apps that are educational and then there is this app... Both fun and educational!!! You would do well to continue the series through all grades. Parents like me would buy the entire series... The kids love it!!! I am waiting for grades 2 and 3...

Awesome app!. Please make one for second grade

great app!. really good app, hope there is a second grade coming aswell!

Teach me 1st Grade. Again I love this program... The visuals are amazing for children including those with special needs. Being a parent of a special needs child it's very hard to find programs. This one is also on the top of my Favourites.... Any chance you will make another math app counting up to 100 with adding and subtracting using visuals???? Also love how you did the Dolch words, and spelling.... Amazing program in my books!!! Well Done!!!

Excellent. My girlfriend is an elementary school teacher and they use this at her school for the grade ones. I downloaded this for my 6 year old daughter and it is excellent. She loves it so much that she has created four accounts, one for each of he favorite stuffed animals and she switches between them trying to outdo the skill level of the last round she played. The incentives are well implemented. The print recognition is excellent, works very well.

Awesome learning app!!. I am SO impressed with this educational app, and the amount of details and work they clearly put into it. My daughter loves it and is actually upstairs right now continuing to play it so she can win more points. There are four sections in this app: Math - addition and subtraction; Dolce words - both sight words and getting the child to spell. When she does it correctly, she wins a point. After three points, she wins a coin and she can 'spend' her coins in the Shape Store, the Fish Store or the Art Store where she can 'buy' stickers, fish or shapes - and the fish actually swim around, you can buy food for them and feed them, etc. I was so impressed with this app that I bought the JK one for my son. The kids love it so much that they fight over who gets to play with it next - little do they know how much they're learning while they use it. My daughter, who usually hates homework, has been now playing it for over an hour. She's seven. Thank you and I hope you do more apps for older grades too!!

Fantastic!. I love this app! We have many apps for our kids .. And have "folders" of educational ones and this is by far the best. My girls are 4 1/2 and 7 and I found this level works well for both (albeit a tad challenging for the younger one). My younger one can already sound out simple words - if ur child is not quite at that stage, I would suggest the Kinder level instead. The girls are very motivated by the coin system and they are captivated by the game for ages!

Great product!. My son adores this! His progress is astounding!

Great app. Buy it. Well worth the price.

Great app with reading, writing, and math practice.. I really like this app for my son in Grade 1. It is a complete package with practice in reading, spelling and math. They give you the option of using either a keyboard (abc order not QWERTY) or your finger to write the answer. This is great, although your child has to have fairly good printing in order for them not to get frustrated. The rewards are also fun and the fish tank is always a hit.

Great little app. This app has lots of great stuff for your kids. Great learning across early math and English topics. One suggestion would be to optionally disable some of the audio prompts as they can get annoying and time consuming for the child. The sound you get a coin would be an example of this.

A nice educational app at a nice price. I purchased this for my seven-year-old to use on my iPod Touch from time to time. I wanted something to give a little boost to her math and reading comprehension. Initially, there was some frustration - the character recognition isn't very good, but I realized that my daughter was not writing her letters in the standard way. It actually helped her improve her letter-creating, both upper and lower case. The math is also good, and has improved her grasp at subtraction. Motiviation comes from winning coins that you can then use to fill an aquarium with fish is great incentive for small children The things I didn't like so much: 1) I see a lot of repetition - the player is asked to spell the same words over and over. Maybe not a bad thing, but a bit more diversity would be good. I am not sure if things get more difficult as they progress to higher levels. 2) I wish there was a grade-2 version of the game

Not so great , app seem's to have frozen. You might want to wait for bugs to be fixed.

Awesome app!. My 6 yr old daughter is in french school and this app is great for her English reading. We've used the preschool, kindergarten and grade 1 apps and they are all amazing apps. My daughter trades tv time to play this app! Great idea to reward them with silly bands! Lots of educational content and well put together! I hope a grade 2 app is in the future!

AWESOME!. I purchased TeachMe: Kindergarten and TeachMe: 1st Grade, my grade one twins use this app everyday to further their knowledge. I love it! PLEASE, PLEASE, MAKE A TeachMe: 2nd Grade!

Sucks. It stops working the hand writing part

Loving it. Bought this app for my 6 year oldstand he loves it! First thing in the morning he wants to play it and first thing after school he is begging for the phone. A great learning tool and very addicting! This is one great app!! Way to go! Hope you can make a grade 2 version soon! Highly recommended.

Troubles?. So after 5 mi.mutes of lovingly the writing part with your finger quit working....... Any idea how to fix it?

Wonderful for my 6 year old.. Great app! My 6 year old will play for an hour straight. Very educational, follows her school curriculum for "sight words" so much fun I bought the preschool app for my almost 4 year old.

One of the best app. My first grader is in love with this app, she is already in level 3 in sight words and I just bought this app few days ago. Hope to see how 2nd grade is going to look like. I really recommend this app.

Teach Me 1st Grade. The app shut off by itself after my son had used it for a while and reached the higher levels in the different subjects. I had to delete and reinstall the app and advanced the player for my son to the higher levels.

wonderful!!!. i have a newly 1st & 2nd grader and it is an AWESOME tool for both!! nice refresher course for my 2nd grader and an easy way to recap what my 1st grader has learned thus far!! Now all i need is 2nd and 3rd grade!! c'mon u awesome app people i want to be able to tell the other mommys " there's an app for that" at the bus stop! ;)

1st Grade 1st rate. This app is fantastic. I have two children in first grade. Not only are they learning to read the sight words but they are learning to properly form their letters. This is the best app I've found for my children,. When can we expect 2nd and 3rd grade?

Well done. My 5 year old literally played this approximately 30 minutes to an hour a day over break here for a week. The reward structure seems to keep him motivated really well.

MomToAvery. My son is 5 years old, and plays this portion of the TeachMe apps. He finds this one to be more of a challenge and likes it more. If your child is you get than 1st grade but on an advanced level, this is DEFINITELY the app for them!

Absolutely love this App.. I purchased this app from the app store and loved it as soon as I opened it. My 6 year old daughter can't stop learning and achieving prizes.. This game is 10 times more fun then Leap Frog or any other learning system. Its easy to use and lots of fun, I recommend Everyone to purchase this App.. Keep up the good work!

Great concept, handwriting recognition doesn't work. My son loved the Kindergarten version. It got him excited about learning. But this version requires them to write in the answer. The recognition software is so poor, it often won't recognize a correct word (even when I try to write it in), and it's frustrating and counterproductive for learning. I wish they'd allow for a keyboard option until they fix this. Otherwise the app is perfect.

decent app some flaws. My 6 year old played this in school and asked me to download it at home. He enjoys the game (he even chose to play it over star wars!) but some letters are hard for the game to recognize. The M is pretty tricky. overall I like the option to write the letters. He still writes some of backwards and this has really helped since the game does not recognize backwards letters.

Best Learning App Ever!!!. My Kindergarten son LOVES "playing" on this App and I love that he is learning so much at the same time. He has gone through TeachMe Kindergarten and now on the 1st Grade Level. I actually have him do his "homework" on this every day. I hope they make a 2nd Grade Level and so on!

Oustanding -- well worth the price!. Perfect follow-on to Teach Me: Kindergarten. The app helps teach kids how to draw letters and numbers with precision, as well as answering math and reading questions. My 4-year old daughter would not put it down after I installed it today.

Favorite educational app. This is a great way to have the kids practice their writing, math facts and simple spelling all in one fun place. Then they get to go virtual shopping to spend the coins they earn. They get a bit of practice on pre spending money. I only wish they would make a harder level or a 2nd & 3rd grade level. My kids love this app! I bet yours will too.

I love this app. I used this as a summer bridge to first grade for my kids. They couldn't put it down and were excited to get all of the rewards. They even learned how to budget money for the more "expensive" rewards.

Amazing!. This app is AMAZING! My son loves to play and win coins! He wakes everyday & wants to feed his fish! This encourages him even more to play & succeed with his first grade skills! I am so impressed with the format & information covered! My son, in a few short days, has learned so many sight words, spelling words and math problems!! Please keep these apps coming... 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and so on!

Fantastic. I work with developmentally disabled students. This app meet IEP goals, helps my students with dysgenic, keeps track of their progress to show parents. Best of all my kids feel successful what more can you ask for!

By far the best educational app out there right now!. I have tried out so many apps for my 7 year old. This one provides just the right amount of challenge, keeps her engaged, and the reward system motivates her to do well and keep going! I am going to recommend this app to all my friends!

Please Fix Nagging Mouse. I use this app with my son. I strongly dislike the latest update to the handwriting section. The handwriting section is challenging or my son, and everytime he writes ANYTHING, he has to listen to the mouse say, "I'm having trouble reading this. Small short strokes are hard for me to read. Use long strokes when writing to make it easier for me to read. Tap the eraser and try again." The game lockes the player out until the mouse reads the entire paragraph. Hearing the message 15+ times in a 15 minute game session is very frustrating.

Love it!!!. I never write reviews but I love this ap so much I had to say how great it is. My daughter will play for hours if I let her. She still uses it although she has outgrown this one. Please make a second grade version!!!!

Great App!!. This app is wonderful. My kids of all ages love to practice their skills on this app. They ask to play as a reward. They love that they get to use their coins to " buy" stuff. The only downfall is they only offer this app in Toddler, Kindergarten, & 1st grade. Please make more levels!

The kids love it!. Very age appropriate. Too easy for my second grader, and very difficult for my kindergartener. My kindergartener is learning skills ahead of his grade level and having fun at the same time. The kids enjoy getting the rewards for answering questions correctly.

Please create a 2nd and 3rd Grade. My kids love this app and I like that it is a learning app! The individual setting are really nice. I like that I can have my older child complete more problems to get a sticker. Please come out with a 2nd and 3rd grade app.

Still waiting. It's a shame that your app is the best out there and that there is not a variety. We need apps that talk to our kids and teach them about the world around them and how they fit into it. Why do we make them wait till college to find this our? They're smarter now (birth to 6 yrs) than they'll ever be!

A Terrific App for Kids. This is a terrific educational app. My first grader enjoys it immensely. The content resonates well with skills/lessons currently used in school - math, spelling, writing. Thanks for creating something that helps reinforce these important skills in a platform that is both welcoming and encouraging for young kids.

Wonderful!. This app is great. I like the way you can write or use a letter/number pad to answer the questions. Now my three year old can do this too. He can write, but the writing feature does not always read what he has written correctly.

Talks Too Much in School. This app has some solid lessons, and a good incentive program that rewards kids for completing them, but the mouse-teacher character is a little, um, school-marmish. Once the kid has been told that "extra strokes" in her answer make it harder to read, the mouse needs to either to zip it, or give us a way to cut her off and continue with game play or corrections.

Love it. So worth the $, it's still less than a pack of flash cards! Nice to mix up the skills and the reinforcements are perfect (we love to feed the fish). Hoping for more apps that cover other skills with the same type platform and also for 2nd grade. Thanks for an app that pleases my kiddo and his mommy!

Disappointing. The app is pretty limited for words, and seems to repeat the same ones such as 'cat, dog, bus, ball' over and over even if they get it right. Also, the math sections moves too quickly on from problems with picture and counting help, to no pictures at all, without a middle transition, which really confused my kid. The premise is great, but there could be a few tweaks which would make this app from OK to great.

Excellent......want more more more. This app is by far the best. Excellent system for homeschool children. Fun, engaging, entertaining but most important it really does teach. My aspergers, ADHD son is finally learning and retaining information. Can't thank u enough. Please please add more to keep it going.

Bad interface. Loved kindergarten version. However, this one requires your child to handwritten the answer onto the iPad. The handwriting recognition software is poor and will often just not read the answer. If it can't read the answer, the mouse narrator goes into a long lecture about writing clearly that cannot be interrupted and sometimes repeated itself multiple times. Very annoying! I cannot set this to use a keyboard or to shut-up the annoying narrator.

Great Game!. My son has a lot of fun playing this. He is actually motivated to play the games to earn the rewards. The games really help him learn. I like how the game has the child actually write the letters with their fingers, not just tap the letters. It actually helps improve their writing skills also. This is absolutely awesome and so worth the money!

The best educational program!!. This is the best "schooling" program for kids in the AppsStore. Excellent idea, design and execution!! My 6 y.o. loves it and progressed very quickly in learning basic math operations and words spelling. Please, continue your great work in doing 2nd, 3rd, ... grades. It is an enormous help and gift to our kids!!!!!!! Love you, guys!!!-:))

Wish I would have read reviews before paying. I needed a quick way to keep my child occupied, and downloaded this. The very first direction was to spell the word 'dog' using your pointer finger on the screen. She started to write 'D' and it recorded it as an 'i' she returned to trying and finally I tried it and it took a few tries before it finally accepted it as a 'D' ... Now, my child is in the first grade. I would appreciate she masters spelling before problem solving for a stupid app.

Love it (so do my kids). I brought my iPad and my husbands iPad to school for my class and the kids just fell in love with this app! They are doing so much better in school now thank you Teach Me: First Grade!!!

Love the TeachMe series!. I am a preschool teacher with a master's in early childhood education. I started my son off with the toddler level, moved to the kindergarten level, and have just purchased the first grade level. These games are great reviews and reinforcement of skills!

LOVE. My students LOVE this app. They get to play it after earning so many stickers or smilies in class. I have a student with multiple behavior problems and since I have purchased this, he has gone 3 weeks without an incident so he can play it twice a day. Great learning tool and perfect. It has more math work than anything else but that is OK.

Great App!. This app is the best! I have a 1st grade foster child who is struggling with 1st grade. This app has made a tremendous difference in his work. This app has helped him catch on to addition and subtraction, something I have not been able to do (and I don't have much hair left to pull out). That's for this app and we will be needing 2nd grade soon!

One of best. My grandson loves earning coins. Learning how to balance spending and saving. The use of learning with sight sound and touch is reinforcing. I like that there I plenty of repetition for practice and levels give incentive to compete with himself. A real winner.

Mom of a 6 year old. This app is perfect for keeping my child's skills sharp over the summer! It covers so many skills, reading, writing, math and the value of money and working towards a goal. She played for an hour the first time using it. I will be using this app as a reward for her.

Letter recognition problem. Great app, but has hard time recognizing how my daughter writes some letters (r,f,t) and numbers (2&4). She gets frustrated when her fingering is not recognized correctly. The letters are correct, just not fingered in the exact manner shown. Even I've struggled with this.

Best app out there for first graders!. This is, hands down, the best all round educational first grade app. out there. My 6 year old dreads homework and loves this app and asks to play it nightly. He learns spelling, math, and best of all, works on his penmanship too. Love it, love it, love it! Kim Weiland Forgot to mention he earns money for doing well and can spend it on buying different fish, fish food, plants, etc. He doesn't realize he's ho much school work he does to earn the money either! Love it!

Excellent. Great product for kids to learn and I love the choice of entry method. The hand writing interpretation is great and helps my kids not only work at the problem at hand but their handwriting skills as well. For the price you cant beat this product. Liked it so much I bought the other app for my kindergardener.

Awesome!. My kids haven't even played this yet, but we have TeachMe Toddler & TeachMe Kindergarten. My soon-to-be 1st grader was playing Kindergarten last night, and said, "Mom, I have to play Kindergarten because we don't have First Grade (insert puppy eyes here)". He'll be sooo excited...heck, I'm so excited! Better have Second Grade made by next summer or this mommy will be in trouble!

Excellent. The 6-year-old first grader I nanny for LOVES this app. She willingly chooses it over any of the games I have on my iPad. She also chooses to keep learning instead of spending the coins she earns, because she feels so proud when she is learning with this app. Please please please come out with a Teach Me 2nd Grade soon, I would like to continue using this type of app with her.

Best school app I have bought. My daughter loves this app, we have bought about 2 dozen different apps for reading, math first grade sight words and this is the only one that she goes back to time and time again.

Amazing!!!!. Has the value of a $5 ap!!! Multi player, mom can adjust level and more and view progress charts! This is the best Ed ap I have found for the $. Best part---- this is my kids favorite ap!!!

Excellent app. My son enjoyed Teachme kindergarten version. When I bought him 1st gr version. He enjoys it more and gave me a big kiss. I specially like the hand writing recognition. It taught my son to write properly. The silly band shape for reward is special cool too. Thank you for such a great app.

One suggestion. We love this app! I love the way my children choose to play it on their own. I do have a suggestion: my children can form their letters with ease and accuracy, but the app does not recognize their letters sometimes. I like the option to switch to the keyboard, but it needs to be a QWERTY keyboard...not in alphabetical order.

Some fundamental problems.. Great, but kids can cheat by leaving the school and going back in after doing a hint (which they do, tired of hassling them about it). Should be a way to get partial credit for a hint. Also, the mouse is annoying after awhile. Should be a way to shut that off after she says her things a few dozen times.

Hlitle. This app has been one of best I have purchased. My first grade kiddos love doing the activities and reading their charts to see and track their progress. The handwriting component is frustrating , at times, because "y" & "p" are recognized as "P" and "Y" No matter how they are written. However, I just told the kids not to,worry about it.
