*** Community Update ***

While we’d really rather not have any limits on listening, we’ve exhausted all short-term options to keep 8tracks free for everyone, as it has been for the past 9 years. Unfortunately, with recent increases in royalty rates, we have no choice but to shift towards subscriptions for listeners in the US (which we’ve priced as affordably as possible). Everyone can still listen for free, but there is a weekly limit which resets each Monday. In the meantime, we’re exploring new ways to allow us to raise the free listening limit while still ensuring a healthy future for our service and the community. Thanks for continuing to support 8tracks!

Sad to say goodbye,  Goodgood1yee  1 star

Thought I'd pay, but seen even when you subscribe, you have limited skips????

Once a great app, now ransoms the old app back to you  Xavrik  1 star

My commute to work is about an hour, give or take. 'Nuff said. Also, my favorite playlists that introduced me to so many new songs and bands that I love now are typically around an hour and a half long. Please let me listen to the last three songs, 8tracks, my family is dying.

I Always Come Back  Stefxc  5 star

I’ve ventured away from 8tracks since the price had gone up and I was limited in my steaming time, but I always come back to it. I hate putting my own playlist together. It truly limits my music selection because it’s hard for me to find new music and really listen to it because I always wind up skipping to a song a I know. But with 8tracks I don’t need to worry I can just let it play. There used to be this website when I was in middle school called Playlist.com or something and 8tracks is the only thing I’ve ever found that truly measured up. I seriously love this app and will probably never get rid of it.

Worth the $30  Kittykitty325748364;!6  5 star

Look, I was as mad as everyone else when free unlimited listening was discontinued, but $30 for a whole year of no ads and all the music I want? That's a price I'm willing to pay. Besides, it really isn't that much, it's only $2.50 a month, which just means you can't have your latte from Starbucks (just one darn time a month) and boom you've paid for all the music you can listen to! Frankly, if you can afford a cellphone or a computer, I'm pretty sure you can cough up $2.50 a month or $4.99 if you aren't sure you want the year long commitment. For me, though? Easiest $30 I've ever spent.

Done with this.  jaysca  1 star

I liked this before they limited you on 1 hour a week and 6 skips total. You used to get 3 skips per station and unlimited access. I'm not about to pay your crazy fees. Now you won't even get the ad money I generated.

What's the point?  brooke2112 L  1 star

I used to LOVE this app and just recently downloaded it again to see all the playlists I made a couple years back. I was a little disappointed that the unlimited music was gone but decided to pay to listen because why not I can cancel it any time but what's the point of paying money to listen to music but not be able to skip more then 3 times In a playlist and 6 times within an hour? If you expect me to pay to listen to the music on this app I should be able to skip when I want whenever I want.

A “free” music app that isnt free.  Junior5712  1 star

So apparently now you must pay just to listen to music. It was a great app before and now they ruined it being greedy forcing you to pay just to listen. Not worth downloading!

It's Like All the Music of the World in One Place  Dlh19003  5 star

Where else can I find a 21st century K-Pop cut and a Korean pop song from the 1950's in the same place? 8tracks has music I would have never heard otherwise. There are cuts from my favorite 60's groups that I never knew existed. From ABBA to ZZ Top and their counterparts from around the world. They are all here. Everyone likes free, but this is still a steal for less than a cup of Starbucks joe each month.

Worth the money  johnny sax  5 star

I love this app, so much diverse music here, great to follow other people and see their likes.i don't have or want any other music apps this for me is the best one for my money

Best pre-made playlist app  Kyleshle  5 star

Yes you now have to pay for 8tracks but it was an easy decision for me because I use it constantly. I like searching for a genre of music and having 1000s of pre-made playlists from real people, not a corporation that thinks they know what you want. It’s relatively the same price as Apple Music or Spotify etc. Def worth it.

Don't listen to the snowflakes.  jobengals86  5 star

This is a great app. If anyone has been following 8tracks (like the spoiled snowflakes who used to love the service and don't anymore because they only ever seeked completely free music and services), you'd know they've been fighting to keep up with other very successful music streamers. To pay less than $5 a month to help maintain the app's "plus" content and keep it as good as possible has been a no-brainer. Like, really. There comes a time when companies you used to believe in and/or support need more than just word-of-mouth; they need actual financial support. Paying for this service to have the awesome variety and truly epic playlists that we share with each other is much more than any other mainstream service can provide. 8tracks is an actual community that is worth supporting and being a part of. We share the same love - music. Join us :-)

Ridiculous  violetfemmes  1 star

I used to really love 8tracks because it made music so much easier to discover... but with the 1-hour listening limit it's become too expensive to listen to. There's no point, even if I got the subscription, in making playlists and sharing them with my friends if they can't listen to it more than an hour a week. It's made it impossible for free users to even enjoy the site, much less entice new listeners. I understand that royalty fees are expensive, but I'm sick of the copy-paste responses they give everyone who complains about this. So many other music apps, while they have subscription services, don't put such extremes on their free userbase. It's unfortunate that I can no longer use or enjoy this app; I really did love 8tracks.

1 week free listening?  Mjh11987023  2 star

this used to be my favorite app for music. But now I can't hardly listen to it. These playlists are amazing for whatever you're doing, but if you can't listen to them when you want, what's the point? and i'm not about to spend money either. I shouldn't have to if I didn't have to before.

Such a shame...  Oopsmyleg  2 star

This has been my favorite music app by far and I have used it for every situation and every genre. From lifting to driving to sleeping, 8tracks is my go-to and first recommendation. I am sad to say that due to the 1 hour listening limit per week (which is understandable due to royalty), I am going to transition to a paid app with more freedom/song selection. Please let me know if anything is intended to change in the future.

Terrible playlists!  Macguy2015  1 star

I was listening to chill hip hop and Miley Cyrus was the second song played. I deleted the app right away.

Pop ups from ads that redirect to safari?  Waterwings6  4 star

Recently while I've been using the app and start listening, at random times ads or scam pages pop up directed at safari through iPhone. Very odd, since I'm not selecting any ads from the app itself. The spam can be those "you've got a virus on your phone" scams.

Can't edit collections  Jiao-jiao11  4 star

Good app. Just wish that I could add or remove playlists from my collections. It's annoying to have to go to my computer to do it when i'm already on my phone.

Absolute Garbage.  mcowan4  1 star

You only get to listen to music for 1 hour! DO NOT DOWNLOAD! Waste of time.

WHAT IN TRACKNATION???  WritersBlock001  1 star

Honestly why is there a limit to how much you can listen to a WEEK?? All of these apps are so money hungry nowadays. This app was perfect before and now they're just being ridiculous. I could handle the ads in between a few songs but paying monthly to listen to a simple playlist??? This is just ridiculous! I'm deleting the app and moving on to Spotify and Pandora! Honestly you can make a playlist and listen to others' on there without having to PAY! Disgusting sell-outs! I would give it 0 stars if I could. You guys are going to lose so many customers.

Update-1 hour free listening limit :(  Sky2017!!!  1 star

I loved using this app as it was easy, convenient, and loads of music. However the newest updates have limited free listening to 1 hour or you must otherwise buy a subscription, even after they have included ads. The smart move would have been to use the free user base to provide a better experience for the paid user base. I gave two stars because it may be worth it if you want to pay, but since they want to be greedy I will be looking for the next free music app to enjoy.
