How to use Commander app. I would like to have a guide to go by.

Works as promised. I use this app A LOT!! It works as advertised. It’s also great for setting my watches as the app also shows the exact time. The satellites have to all be synchronized or it would be impossible to determine your position. All in all a fantastic app!

Handy app!. Decent app. I particularly enjoy the MGRS data. I’m active duty military. Has not failed me in the training area (when I have LTE or 3G service)

Cool, but..... There’s a lot of stuff in this app. However, I can not get past verifying the compass reading. It must be that my hardware is sending the wrong data to the app because the reading are 30 degrees off. I have checked location services and verified it is calibrating. The app shows that it is not Calibrated but no amount of twisting helps. Would like a suggestion on what to do from the developer.

Best out of 25. I downloaded 25 compass apps because I am obsessed with compasses, and I have to leave a reviews! Whoever make this is the next Elon Musk

Commander Compass. Fantastic app and spyglass makes it even better, granted the learning curve is fairly steep. It’s almost like aircraft instrumentation so it’s utility is kind of limited but I love it. One of the most unique “tools” out there.

Commander Compass Go. Great so far in its many features, intuitive and versatile but do not know how practical as I just earlier downloaded it on my IPad Mini 2 with an older iOS but seems to function OK !!

Great App. It does way more than I know what to do with. I use it for deer hunting to find spots I’ve tagged deep in the woods. These spots are not easy to find without this app as the terrain changes from year to year due to clear cutting. This app always gets me where I need to go. I highly recommend.

Really Nicely Made Compass Map App. I like this app a lot but it can be confusing because on startup it says ‘Subscription Expired’ and I have no such subscription and never have had one. It makes me wonder if it once was a paid app but no longer is? Am I on a trial? Either way it is nicely done and I enjoy using it, if only that odd little nag screen wouldn’t jump up each startup. Thanks to the dev for making it and if it’s actually free this is extremely generous of them.

Looks Pretty, But Can't Find North Or South. Simply put, without getting too wordy.....the standard compass app the comes loaded onto every iPhone is way more accurate than this toy.

Superb App'. I have been recently to Guatemala where you have a constant changing topography when you are driving around the country and the altimeter/direction/positions where kept constant, if not more accurate than a brand GPS installed in the car. CHAPEAUX!!!

AT corridor monitor. As a volunteer corridor monitor on the AT, I have to find survey monuments in a variety of terrain. In some cases, there are no clues other than the GPS coordinates. I recently had an opportunity to compared the iPhone compass app GPS coordinates to the Pro Compass coordinates, while searching for a “missing” monument. The Pro compass coordinates brought me the exact spot of the “missing” monument while the IPhone compass coordinates did not. Needless to say the monument is no longer missing..

Great tool. With this app only, I can safely fly a Cessna 172. If for whatever reason any of my navaids or instruments fail I am confident in your compass. Thanks

constantly demanding for money. This app will not even start until it demands payment for the upgrade-- and then goes to the app store so you can pay. A disgusting predatory bunch

Top-notch Navigational Tool. Very rarely do I rate 5 stars. This app has earned it! This is from a Soldier of 22+ years, and I wish I had this kind of app technology many years ago. Great job guys. Highly recommended.

Used on the Pacific Ocean. Used this app to navigate to and from Avalon / Long Beach. It worked great. Best navigation app. It’s so easy to setup locations and then select them for navigation.

Great app. I used this app for years with no problems. Absolutely loved it. But i find alot of times its off by 180degrees now. Dtill helpfull but i constantly have to check it against a real compass

Pretty but costs and nagging. It looks great doing what it does but $4 per month is too much for what it does. And if you don’t subscribe, it’s basically just nagware.

Wrong location. Google earth along with this compass always has me LOCKED on my neighbor’s house and no matter what I do it won’t let me fix it. Otherwise it possibly could be a good compass.

Awesome for Geocaching, only one complaint!. Are use a very old GarmanTo pinpoint my location when hiding a geocache and I took some ware around 15 to 20 minutesTo get within 8 feet but now with this app it’ll take her out some ware around five minutes to get within 3 feet! Is a very good app for geocaching! My only complaint is there is no way to easily access your way points.

Great App. This is a great application! I wish I had found it sooner. This compass allows me to do just about anything I could ever ask for. It would have been nice to have back in my Army days.

Top Notch. Excellent tool. I bought a windshield mount for my smart phone just for this app, I love this app. I only have one issue. Whenever the truck comes to a stop the whole display shifts ninety degrees counter clockwise. If I am heading north then it reads west. As soon as I begin moving it goes back to reading accurately. It makes no sense. Am I missing something?

Was great!. I did a stupid thing and updated. Now every time I open the app I have to click past a stupid pop up that says my subscription expired (never had one) and an ad for Pro version and Spyglass. Also, it used to work consistently on airplanes. But no longer. It’s intermittent at best. Even holding the phone up to the window. Response to developer response: Yes, there is a “Your subscription expired” pop up window with an OK button on top of the ad to upgrade. Wish I could post a screenshot. And no way I paying ransom money to get rid of the popup.

Compass. I can actually see it!

Simply does not work.. After a few years of playing with this, the compass still cannot find anywhere close to North. It points all over the 360 degrees.

needs an easier delete button. I’m still looking for a delete or remove function to get rid of points or locations I don’t need anymore. Having to sift thru useless points to find important ones can take time, so an easy Remove/Delete Waypoint/Location feature would be highly beneficial.

Compass Commander Working Fine Now - Thank You. 29 June 2023 - I deleted the existing Compass Commander, and then reloaded it from the Apple Store. This resolved the problem I was observing. Now Compass Commander is working well. With the many recent Apple iPhone iOS changes, it could be that the previous copy was somehow damaged. All is well now. Thank you, Developer, for your kind response to my previous review, as well as your email. Data for Developer: Commander is verified to be more accurate than the Apple iPhone compass application. Again, thank you for your patience and professional response.

David, Land and Hay Co. We use the compass to lay out haying machine passed and elevation to determine drainage of water on crops. App works great, handy when ever we need it from the iPhone.

Commander a Must Have. As a beekeeper, I am required to report the locations of my beehives to the State and County Departments of Agriculture. This app makes itself one of my “Go To” tools. It provides all the relevant information necessary to be in compliance with the regulations and reporting requirements. Commander is useful for so many other purposes as well. When I go hiking and when participating in Amateur Radio events, I am able to provide precise direction, location and speed vectors. It’s a really useful tool and addition to anyone’s toolbox.

App is way wrong. Using this in Honolulu at sunrise, lat & long. is correct but the app, when one aligns the compass to N shows sun coming up from the West! Compass app that comes with the iPhone is correct. Guess which I’ll be using?

Meh.. Used to be a lot better, so I think all the good stuff has been switched to premium. Still a fairly cool compass app.

Responsive developer. This is a powerful app with a whole book dedicated to its capabilities. Trying to use this app to save a position then guide you back is not reliable. It will often point you in a direction that is inaccurate by 180°. Recommend, but beware of its inaccuracy if you're relying on it for more than curiosity and amusement. iPhone X

Very Pretty App. This is a really nice application. It’s quite clear a fair amount of work went into it. I admire that effort. Unfortunately the user guides and “manuals”are so utterly bad and poorly done I could not even get angry! I was so amazed I had to laugh! I figured it out - but even the most basic guide written logically would have flattened the learning curve considerably. I really like Spyglass but regret that I’m unable to rationalize buying it in its current state. I suggest hiring a professional technical writer to assemble your manuals. You have a good product. Not user friendly. Hard to find tutorials in the free version. Difficult to navigate the window icons, what they are supposed to do. I have trouble setting destinations. All in all not a user friendly app for novice.

Hello come into my van. It's good, the maps are a bit old though. Search up 'Candy van' on this app and it'll come up.

What changed. I us d to be able to point with my rear camera and pin point locations this feature is not working anymore.

Great features. Using for great information whilst traveling. Still learning its vast array of features!

Very Obscure. This has the potential to be a very good app however the developer has overlaid it with some obscure symbols and data that are almost meaningless. The documentation is useless slso as the developer has used this as an opportunity to up sell other features while obscuring the very features you need to understand. Also, incomprehensibly from all you destinations you can’t select one to track but have to go into adjust each of the settings. Lastly why why doesn’t it allow you to get a read out of your current location? For what I needed this is next to useless.

Go bird watching. It's a fabulous piece of electronic wizardry. I use it when I've left the car and gone walking and photographing birds which tends to lead me in all directions. I input the location of the car and take my iphone which, when I want to return after hours away, indicates where I am in relation to the car. The other functions are also great. A valuabe app.

Handy compass. It is surprising how many times you use a compass when you are travelling. A particularly good compass app with time, lat and long.

Disappointed. All black and white....even the maps. Couldn’t work out if this was because it was a free version. Tried to locate the paid version to resolve but was directed to a different app. Ended up using Google maps to do the waypoints etc that I needed. Can’t help thinking I’m missing something given the good reviews, but it shouldn’t be that hard. Anyway, 2 stars because it’s free and better than anything I could do. Thanks anyway.

Geocaching gem. Have just started geocaching and this is the perfect ap. can enter caches by name, add bearings and then see it marked on a map all in a few simple clicks. Brilliant!

Does exactly what I wanted it to do.. Downloaded this to see if it worked for entering coordinates so I could go and find geocaches - yes - once i worked out how to use, it does exactly what I wanted, and a few more handy things too. Pretty good for a lite version of an app ;-) Forgot I had already reviewed this ... Seems I had because this one popped up - I still use the app for a Geocaching and it still does a great job .. Who needs a "real" GPS device when I have an iPhone and this app? :)

Can’t even comprehend what it is telling me.. I am sure this has good features, but I don’t understand it. Firstly it doesn’t seem to tell me current location, then to calibrate I have to line up a yellow line, that is really wierd, do I have to hold my device vertical? Little things, but I just want a simple compass for iPad, like I have on my iPhone. (Apple Pay attention!)

Great 4 iPhone thanks. But not good on my iPad mini because I've got magnets in the cover. If I took it of it would probably work fine. But that seems like a hassle. LOL. But the on the iPhone it will b very useful when camping. Good App

Great Nav App.. Fantastic navigation app. A couple of annoying things. The manual orientation with two fingers doesn't seem to work on my 3Gs phone and there is no way to turn off the annoying zoom in and out noise on the map background. If it was a true milspec compass you don't really want to give away your position with sound. Otherwise 5 stars.

Dud Compass. I downloaded a compass app that only pointed North once, since then...nothing. I’m one unhappy Geek when I try my Compass.

Unbelievably Accurate. We went snowboarding at Perisher last wknd and during the drive up I followed our altitude and bearing and it was spot on almost instantly. Impressive. In the immortal words of Borat "I LIKE!!"

Brahambull. Top app, got Mils, nav ability, map to ground. The only thing against is plotting points is somewhat awkward, however still give it 5 stars.

Compass. I couldn't work out why it is always out then worked out when you first boot it, you must be facing north. Only then it seems to work good. Or maybe I should just RTFM. There must be a way to calibrate it correctly.

Looks GREAT!...."but....". Installed it this morning...haven't had time to use it..I'm in Beijing China and I'm small town country boy...have spent lots of time in woods. Now I'm in a concrete jungle...facing fear to stray more than a few blocks from my apartment. There are not many days of actual visible sun here and seeing it rise is best on a tv screen apparently. I have opened the app 4 times now. And each time I've noticed it shows North in a different location in reference to the alignment of the floor tiles? Can I feel confident with this tool?...or is this a glitch that is isolated to my floor tiles or my iPad."...which I know is quite quirky at times...

Great Features. I occasionally use this app, but love it when I do. There are times it’s nice to know an elevation. I’m told that Toyotas are notorious for slow readings on speedometers. My Camry’s does, and I find it’s not off by a percentage or set amount. It varies in different ranges. And there’s a difference between my summer and winter tires, so it’s good to be able to confirm actual ground speed in heavily patrolled or photo radar speed zones. Only thing I’d change is the white characters on green terrain are hard to read. Maybe black or dark blue would be better.

On Track. Used this app to keep us from getting lost while in the bush trying to find a lost dog. It is exact and consistent, worked perfectly.

A compass not to be left behind. This compass gives you a look at the real world, not a map image. Some things look very different on a map then they do on the ground. I can use my army protractor with out having to convert mils to degrees. The only place I find it weak is in shooting a barring, I don’t know what fix you can do. My fix is to use a string on the compass & then use that figure to shoot that barring with a real compass, you now know what course to take. Since I can see objects then find them on the map, it’s now the only compass I use, but it adds an other dimension to ground navigation. Bill Sandford

All these so-called compass apps are crap. No matter which app I tried, not single one worked. Whatever theses bosos are selling, they are WSY to complicated to operate. I’ve even tried to a compass app from Apple-no better results. I’m sticking to my trusty mechanical compass. Everyone- do not buy in to this crap.

Great for navigating. Used in tandem with topo map for a hunting trip. Hands down best option for navigation if you don’t have a GPS with waypoint tracker. Kills battery though so best when close to power source (vehicle) Well done guys. Keep it up!

Deer hunting. I loaded this app on the way to the big woods to hunt. The compass worked fine and when I get home I will check the web site for more info. It wasn't as accurate as my Garmin but I could see where it might be more handy. It does do a healthy draw on the battery which might not be so hot if you needed it off and on the entire day. It is more than just a compass though. Maybe four stars if the Webb does a better job of explaining how to use.

North frequently WRONG!. This app looks so cool until you use it a couple of times. North is aligned pointing at the top of the iTouch at the time of launch the majority of the time regardless of the actual direction is really North. The map location is always off in spite of being manually corrected every time. I read through the instruction manual but none of the display changes described as happening in response to different screen swipes occurred. I was very excited about this app, and unfortunately have been very disappointed.

Not recommended. Doesn’t allow you to change colors in iPhone 6 or iPad Pro

Best compass app I've ever seen-better than iPhone 4's. This compass is indescribably cool. The look is awesome, it shows your speed in car mode, you can line it up with stars, and you can google earth your location with the compass on top. It's way more modern than that of the iPhone 3; if you have a 4th generation iPod touch like me, this completes it; get it and throw it into your utilities folder.

International space station location. I have been trying to see satalites with my family and could never realy know where to look. I bought the app hoping I could understand how to use a compass. I went on line and input the information that I found so we would know where to look at the correct time. There were terms I did not know so I wikied it to get a better understanding to know what the numbers meant . I looked like a hero in my little boys eyes. with this app I told my family where to look and at the time I told them there was the space station going over our location on a clear night it worked perfect. I set it up and as I scanned the area the compass told me exactly by name that I imported where to be. All the info I needed was in this program. Without it it's a crap shoot and you only have a second to a min to look in the right spot .Its A Big Sky.

What a compass!. I've tried many compass apps, and this one truly stands out. It has more features than I can yet understand, and the display is beautiful and map overlay is so useful. Even if you don't need many of the options, this compass can truly help you get wherever you are going. It knows where you are, and if you set another location(s), it points to that as well! It's a really useful tool, not just a toy app.

NEAT. I had been searching for a free compass App and downloaded several. Now, to be honest, I have not devoted enough time to learn how to get the most from each one. However having said that let me also say that I have enjoyed this compass App more than the others. It has plenty of nice features but you need to take the time to learn them......I like it and intend on devoting some time to learning how to get the most from it. Try it

Review. Works great except for altitude

Compass is nearly 160 degrees off!. Never saw a compass that was off this bad.

Boy Scout in your phone. Very decent free no nag app. Only negative I seen is that it's function and navigation all rests on how you configure the compass when you first open app, so be careful to be standing on solid ground and rotate it with care and as precise as you can, the more mechanical you are in that stage which lasts maybe 20-30 seconds, the more accurate app performs... Other gripe is that you have to do every time you open app

Amazing on the Ipad2!. Wow!! I'm used to navigating on a sailboat using a real compass for bearing but this app is just incredible on my IPAD2. Takes full advantage of the digital compass and gyroscope features found in the IPAD2, would also be beneficial to pilots I think with the horizon line feature. Best of all you don't have to hold your IPad flat! Showing the realtime position of the Sun, Moon and Polaris is VERY helpful in verifying the accuracy of the unit too. The satellite view of your current position is also a really great feature. A bargain at $2 but being currently free makes installing this a no-brainer on an IPAD2. MUCH THANKS to the developer, this is an EXCELLENT app!!!

Really useful app. We used commander compass on a recent photo trip to locate photo sites recommended by other persons who provided GPS coordinates. Great results accurate to several meters. The direction arrow and distance display were very useful. Questions about app behavior were promptly answered - great tech support. A very well thought out application. Whenever they have another special sale price, we will upgrade and get more of Pavel Ahafonau's applications.

Instructional. While taking care of my grandchildren my daughter ask that I continue their home schooling lessons. One of the lessons required the use of a compass. Since I didn't have one I downloaded the application from the App Store. It worked great and I was able to complete the lesson and teach my grandchildren the basics of using a compass.

Location, location, location!. Now I know where I am and where I'm going. I can even tell how high I am with confidence. A very professional app. No additional pieces of hardware required. And it's always with me. I would recommend it to everyone who would like some precision in pathfinding their way around the globe.

Keeping Amtrak on Track. I discovered this app while onboard the California Zephyr because I was curious about the direction the train was heading as we climbed through the Rockies. I had a ball. Learned not only the heading, but also our altitude. The only thing I didn't understand was the turn and bank iNdications which didn't make much sense On Amtrak.

Strong app, but not perfect. After 2 weeks, the app seems pretty strong and has proven accurate, and has become my goto compass app. But some of the added features and expanded capabilities seem less effective or unneeded. Maybe with more practice I'll become more proficient, but initial take is they don't work as desired. Still beets the other compass apps and has replaced the others I downloaded.

Inaccurate. Innacurate by a lot compared to gmaps, Apple Maps, and the dnr.

Worth more. The Lite version was free, so I tried it. I have only been 'playing' with it for a day now, but I am so impressed I bought the other 2 versions. I would have paid the $3.99 each. I look forward to seeing what they have to offer. I pulled up a map of the area of Afghanistan that I am currently at and it is better than the military map I have!!!

Extremely useful app!. I use this for orienting antenna installations in my work(it connects with google map as well) and it also has many usefull and educational features. One I discovered by accident which is a sky tracking feature for doing star gazing it will tell you where the planets are and any sky element, ie stars, galaxies, nebulas it is incredible !

Best compass I have ever owned. Great for mariners!!! For those that have not figured out how to use this I'll tell u. It is the same instruments u have in a plane. Point the camera of ur phone in the direction u want information on. Don't lay ur phone flat on a table!!! Sun moon Polaris are great reference points and built in. You can store multiple locations using google maps or other gps mapping.

Can’t get passed calibration.. I don’t understand the instructions. What horizon? I live in the mountains there is no flat horizon?? How do I know that it’s done and correct? If I get past calibration I will review the app It forced me to review so that’s the one star. Please help

Awesome. This is one of the best apps on the market for fishing, hiking and hunting.

Great app for locating yourself. Tons of information and fairly easy to use once you spend some time with it. Bit of a learning curve as there are so many options but worth it. Large drain on battery and can have trouble on slower connections. Would be great to have presets for car, hiking, running, and such to simplify setup for new comers. Definitely worth learning.

Much more than a compass !. This app is awesome, map detail is incredible and so accurate it can detect which part of the house I'm in. Great for finding new areas around your location, just hit map detail and move map to get satellite images of your surroundings also gives latitude and longitude and more.

Great - but please change the name. First of all, THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROSITY in making this app free. It is really wonderful. Beautiful app. My only complaint is that the name of it is so long that it can not display on the iPhone. So you have to see the ellipses, and you can't even tell what it is if a friend asks. That's a small concern compared to how terrific the app is.

Great app, but one thing. I love this app, and it's all I've ever needed for sailing. But, it doesn't work when you lay it down with the back of the phone on a table. It freaks out, and the angle doesn't work. I mostly use he angle on this, but it only works up and down (phone is vertical) and doesn't work when ou lay down the line (phone is horizontal). I really want it to work with the phone horizontal. If it should, I would like to know how it does, as I can't get it to. Thanks! I would give 5 stars except for that.

Great app. I use this app a lot. My most recent save by the app was when I was fishing with a friend in my boat and the river was extremely foggy. We couldn't see anything. I opened the app and saw that we were heading straight for the bank. This app showed me where I was and which way I was pointing so I could steer us away from the bank back out into the river and got us safely to our fishing spot. Very happy with it.

Way better. A very cool app. Works way better than the others. The overlay is over the top. Hiking with this shows direction and any roads that are close. One less to carry, time to sell my hand held GPS, now is in my phone. A little hard to figure out but read the manual a few times and now its the best gps.

UserRFP824. Does not calibrate well for compass points. Even in an open field with nonmagnetic( or very minimal) it’s off by 180. User guide o help in this matter

Commanders compass. I'm a little generous with five stars but it's more than four. Sometimes north has a tendency to bounce around a bit. It does function well but if you use the compass to find north I suggest turning classic compass on and gyrocompass off as this was the only way I got it to function properly. You should make this the default setting because I can't imagine anyone wanting to view a backwards compass because upon download that's how it's set up.
