App is now crashing. I’ve been using this app for a while now and it’s probably one of the better ones out there to use. I like how I can watch videos for credits since I am using this only to text people outside of the US. The only issues I’m having are recent. The app keeps blacking out or crashing, completely closing. I never had this problem before and it’s kind of irritating to have to open and close it over and over. I also wish there was options for phone numbers available to the Philippines as there isn’t any apps that provide that but I understand that there’s probably a reason for that. Overall I enjoy this app, just wish it didn’t crash all the time.

No one can hear me on the phone ever!. It is very frustrating. Used this app for years with no problems. Now, I cannot talk to anyone on the phone. At all. Not just that the volume is too low. It is as if the speaker(mic) hears nothing I say. No matter if placing a call or receiving. Cannot find a setting that might address this issue. Please help. This is my phone.

Great app!!!!!. This app is pretty cool for unlimited talk and text. There are many ads and sometimes you get notifications for the ads which is a bit annoying but it's cool that you can talk for an unlimited amount of time. I stayed on the phone for a complete hour and the service was temporarily unavailable but I called back immediately and the service worked fine so I would say steer clear for that. Overall great app and definitely worth the download.

Helpful App indeed but serious delays. I’m thankful for this app reason being its free to use as I’m out of minutes on my main line, however there has been serious delays when on a call (I talk and the person on receiving end hears what I said seconds later) and we end up talking over one another. Experienced about 1 or 2 dropped calls also. Other than that this app serves its purpose and allows me to keep in contact with those that matter.

Calls drop!!!!!all the time!!!. I can’t make a call seriously!!! The calls drop almost all the time then you have to watch some silly ad that takes 5 sec to go away then the call drops again, then next call and the same process continues. I’ve been using the service fo over 6 months it’s was great at first but now it’s just terrible. Will have to find new ap. I give 2 stars because it used to work good but now there just pumping ads all over causing malfunctions I believe but who knows!!!!

USED to work. Now terrible. Can’t text. Won’t connect. Ads load and never let me close them.. When I FIRST got this app I loved it. It worked great and the ads didn’t bother me. I’m not sure what happened but suddenly I can’t text anyone (always says “requires 5 credits or SMS to send” and despite HUNDREDS of credits wouldn’t send any of my messages), my calls won’t go though or don’t connect or crash, and whenever I open my app there’s a white loading circle that will not go away even after I restart the app. I’ve had to redownload the app three times. I feel so stuck. The number I got from this app is written on all my college applications and other official documents and I feel like I can’t get a new number now since I’ve already invested so much into it. Wish they would fix the bug. Again: it USED to work just fine. Now it’s terrible.

Lately app is real glitchy. Frequently hangs up on calls, issues with sound quality or call connections. Why is this app so HUUUGGGEEE! Right now it surpasses the size of all my other apps including my photos and I’m one of these ppl that stores 1000+ pics on their phone forever! Please fix by reducing size of the app removing some of the ad space. I realize its a “free” app and sponsors=$ but it’s getting to be a bit ridiculous to have an app that takes up this much space to perform only one or two functions...call or text.

Works Great. So far. Just installed and called several numbers. Works great. Clear and loud. Credits are low priced. Ads are out of the way and not annoying. You can upgrade to remove ads. Works on iPad 12 iOS. Better than other competitors, I have used. It is FREE. Just buy credits, or earn from watching videos or other media. Works over WiFi, no need for Ethernet. You have your own number, you can choose from a short list. If you go premium, it’s 7.99 a month, for unlimited calling. That’s not even 100 dollars a year! Better than Magicjack.

Love it. It's really good. Works as says and it's UI isn't ugly like a lot of other apps out there. BUT the notifications are ridiculous. I keep getting notifications telling me about calls from US and Canada or how I got 10 free credits even though I paid 3.99 and have a premium membership. It even says "this subscription is active" but these ads are SO annoying and very, very frequent. I might have to go back to TextNow even tho their UI isn't the best. And that's unfortunate because I was so ready to buy 2 numbers and ughhh :(

Surprised.. I downloaded this app yesterday because I was out of minutes on my cell phone. I'm amazed at the quality of the sound. I think it's pretty awesome! I've had this app for a couple of weeks and I still feel the same, it's great. I have had conversations up to an hour and it stays clear. I have called other states and it is still great. I have told all my friends about it. I am very grateful for it.

H E L P. I've been using FreeTone since 2018, and it worked fine until I purchased my number and connected it to my important accounts. Now every single day a NEW 854 calls me AT LEAST TWICE, usually more.,, and even later into the evening when we're going to bed. I report, block and mute all to no avail. If I ask them to place me on their Do Not Call List, as I use my number for my personal business, they simply switch to another number and I do believe they may be using FreeTone for this ILLEGAL ACTIVITY of Harassment and refusing to remove a business on the National Do Not Call List for Solicitors & Agents of such morally starved people. I have also attempted to DELETE my text messages because they just pile up and I can't find anything, and if I delete a number I've muted, and or, blocked.,,. It UN-Mutes and UN-Blocks them! Clear calls. I’ve only made two calls so far, both have be just as clear as if it was “a brand name” service! I’ve been able to make a call locally in Middle Georgia, then called my friend in California ... just like any other call! As long as you have access to a WiFi connection you can make calls for an uncanny price compared to brand name companies, only issue is without WiFi no calls, but there is a voicemail!!! Way cool

So far so good. Downloaded to use for work as I have gotten tired of missing personal calls due to using the same number for work and personal. Has every feature I have on my cell phone and has allowed me to keep one phone yet differentiate work calls. If I have cell signal this works. I was pleased to discover that it is 100 percent free. Ads are not disruptive and I find the UI to be better than the one that came with the phone number. Great job and thanks for solving my issue!

Failing.... Loved the app in the beginning- I got this for my new business. Now it’s failing me!! I am not receiving notifications when I receive texts and phone calls. I’m missing out on business which is aggravating me!! I have to open the app to see if anything has come through and I’m missing a lot of calls/ texts. It just makes ME look flakey when in fact it’s the app!!! But my customers don’t know that... The problem is I can’t take this number anywhere else and it’s printed on my cards and google, etc... this app needs a big makeover and quick! It’s a waste of $4.99

Good till today. I’ve been using Free Tone or a very long time it’s been AMAZING don’t get me wrong I love it until today. I got a notification said I had a miss call and the number kept calling so I went in he app to text the person and it said I needed to sign it again all my stuff was gone my number my contacts on the app everything gone. i hope that’s because I haven’t used it in a while I because of my traveling and no WiFi. Or what please help me.

So unreliable. UPDATE 2/18 Thanks to the support team I was able to restore my account and credits. When this app works it’s great. Has all the features I need and better than most other similar apps I’ve tried. But as the title says (and remains) it’s been flaky and unreliable for me over the several years I’ve used it (since 2013). If it can work reliably for any length of time I’ll adjust my review again. For now I’ll add a star for the fix. REVIEW 11/17 I’ve had this app (and it’s oddly confusing identical twin app TextMe) for several years now and it’s been a constant headache. Never kept such an unreliable app on my iPad and I would dump it if I had not invested money into credits and had so much history with the phone number. Their development team seem incapable of responding to iOS updates as every time Apple pushes out a major upgrade the app breaks. To compound matters, their support staff are the most dim witted and clueless team on the planet. They can rarely sort problems out, and if they do it takes days of messaging back and forth. Hopeless. If only Skype did SMS. I’ve tried a few other text and call apps and they all seem pretty poor. After trying several some years ago I settled on FreeTone and boy do I regret it. Do yourself a favour and stay well clear of this bag of fail

Unreliable. I have been using this app for years, and instead of improving it, the developer has made it worse. It’s now so bogged down with ads that it doesn’t work properly. It’s only purpose apparently is an ad generator. I no longer receive notifications at all when I receive a text, yet the developer is flawlessly capable to inundate me with ads that somehow make their way through seamlessly. Every time I send a text, an ad is in the way of reading my own text let alone a response from the other person. Then when I try to send another text or close the screen-hogging ad, I inadvertently click on the ad. Very frustrating and flat out unreliable.

One of the best. I have this app for my daughter who has special needs. She has it on her iPod and iPad both. The app allows her to call me and me to call her. As well as text for free. Other apps like text free take real money to pay for minutes. This app actually does what it says with nothing hidden. The only down side is the ads but. The ads help the app continue to do what it says it will for free. Highly recommended app.

Constant iTunes Charge Attempts and Crashes. Using free plan initially to evaluate app, every time a message comes in and or I open the app I get an iTunes login request popup. I cancel the request but many users don't force iTunes to confirm each request and if you have touch id enabled there is good chance your finger is on the home button and you'll touch ID login to iTunes before you realize it. The direct correlation of, for me, rare iTunes login to this app is undeniable. App also crashes constantly less than a minute or two of app usage between crashes.

Works fine. This app has been my primary phone number for the past few years. Mind you, I don’t use the phone a whole lot and I primarily text (though not excessively either). I use it on my iPad and the sound is just fine. Sometimes it’s a bit choppy, depending on connection, but overall it does what it’s supposed to. Ads aren’t too annoying to get past. I’ve also never had to add credits.

Lies false advertisement 5 credits per call/text. I had this app and I was using it. All was just fine. AND THEN! I wasn’t receiving calls and couldn’t text. I noticed before I would type for a text message. It said 5 credits. 5 credits PER TEXT is now needed to send a text and you need at least 1 credit to be able to send and receive calls. I emailed them and they gave me the back and forth run around from telling calls/text are only free in us and Canada. Well I live in and was calling and texting the us. Then they said accounts flagged due to missuse too many calls or text. -ONLY THE APP ADVERTISES FREEE AND UNLIMITED CALLS AND TEXT- so how can that be misused or too many? THEN they said that my account was flagged in error and once it’s flagged they can’t unflag it. So with this account flagging I can no longer use this app even if I delete and use a different email. Unless I pay for credits to call and text at 5 credits per call and text message. Disappointed in the lies and false advertisement and poor customer service. If I could I’d rate no stars for this.

Turning off all notifications doesn’t stop the app to bother me. Long time user. iPhone: I turned off the sound for notifications and still getting loud calls, then I turned off all notifications for this app and still getting loud calls. So I just can’t silence the notifications from this app without logging out from my account, very annoying. I find that this is a privacy concern, its intrusive and needs to be fixed immediately, and I will remove this review when they will fix it.

Needs lots of help!!. While using free version, app worked perfectly!! Then with no warning, I was notified my number had expired due to inactivity. I only sent about 20 texts out literally before this. I subscribed, and wasn’t able to keep my number. Now the app barely works. Randomly calls and won’t shut off. It’s impossible to text, without touching my phone it flashes from the login to iTunes Store! It also will just stop sending texts. I’ve emailed support several times with no response!! I would strongly recommend not using this app!! To many issues!! I find it interesting that all of this started as soon as I paid.

Works great at first but goes downhill. It worked just fine at first, but now it takes minutes for it to connect no matter how strong or weak my signal is or if it’s on WiFi. Every call has static lately, the person on the opposite end of the phone can barely ever hear me. The ads will pop up in the middle of the dial pad or randomly cover the whole screen while I’m on a call. I don’t want to have to change to a new app and number because I use this as an emergency line for my business. I love the app, but major issues occurring lately, please fix.

Does what you think it will, saved me!. I was in need of an app quickly that worked almost identical to a normal cell phone, and I was lucky to come across this one! Not only are you able to make unlimited local calls, but you also receive a local phone number which you can use for inbound calls. Furthermore, there is an intuitive text messaging feature which works very well. I haven't tried the app with international, but if it works anywhere near the capacity of how local calls work it would be outstanding. There is a feature to get FREE credits for premium calls just from watching 60 second ad videos which is definitely worth it. Overall I give this app a 5 star bc it actually do s exactly what it says it will. Best of all, it's free! If you're going to complain about the ads, then you should be shot. Nothing in this world is truly free, and you are stupid if you think there is.

Worst app ever. The interface is horrible. The first time i had a call , the notice came up on my iPad , but NO WAY to answer since the accept this call notice didn't appear . I was using it for text support with another problem and they had to call me 3 times before i could answer it . I had used the TextMe app for awhile but it had so many annoying ads that i began looking for another app . I will just deal with the ads instead of this . Also i did get the most offensive spam i have ever had . A belligerent call from the SPAM IRS and FBI that i hadn't filed tax returns and was being "hunted" etc .. apparently this app doesn't have any "spam police" and gives ur number out freely to anyone . My brief experience with this app .. just download and take ur chances .

Good talking and texting app!!!!. If your looking for an app you don’t have to get credits to use than your in the wrong place. But overall it’s a great app download run a couple of games and delete the games and you got credits that simple. Nothing is really free in life you just gotta put in a lil work. My phone is off for a couple of days and I’m happy to have this app right now really came in handy! Thanx for providing this service!!!

Absolute Garbage. I just wish that everyone had iPhones so I wouldn’t have to use stupid third-party apps such as this one to text androids. I’ve never had a good third-party texting and calling app for my non-cellular devices and this one is no exception. There’s so many ads! It plays one every time you send a text. No joke. Half the time I call people, I can hear them but they can’t hear me. Also, I get called by at least two telemarketers a day, which I rarely see on my iPhone. And to make is worse, my number randomly changes and the app spontaneously logs me out! I do not recommend unless you plan on paying monthly for premium.

Works poorly. This app was ok for the first few days of use but, I experienced countless dropped calls. As well as, lag in dialing out, call quality was extremely poor, and cutting off conversations was a regular thing. Not to mention that you had to renew the subscription every month in order to keep your number? Free how? Also, when previously renewed I was charged twice for this crappy application. Whoever designed this app needs to fix the connectivity issues, used on the fastest most stable WiFi ever and still had dropped/choppy calls at random.

Problem with the app. This app was working just fine. But now I've got a problem where I can't make any phone calls. There's no connection at all when I try calling. It's like the system is not recognizing it as a number, because when I finish typing the number in, the “Free number” tag doesn't show up. And for some reason, the Freetone website is down, so I can't go there to find out what's going on. This needs to be fixed ASAP. I don't want to lose my free number because I unable to make phone calls.

Could use improvement. I’m SUPER thankful for this app as it is allowing me to make phone calls while I’m without a phone service, BUT after a month of use I have noticed a few odd things. You get notifications for the same text even after you’ve deleted it/read it, and every time I try to delete a message or conversation it is always there when I reopen the app (kind of disturbing that your texts can never be deleted, and frustrating because I’m sick of getting notified for month old messages). I’ve also randomly had phone calls end on me with no apparent reason. But I AM still thankful for this app and will continue to use for free, just hope for improvement especially for paying costumers

How this has more than three stars is beyond me.. I open this app. Ads. I payed for the minutes. Ads. I dial a number. Ads. I hang up. Ads. I go to click on a section. Ads. You get the hang of it. Riddled with ads. Simply giving the developers your money for minutes isn’t enough to get rid of the things. You have to pay for the ad free version on top of the minutes you’ve purchased. Unless you like being bombarded by ads, look elsewhere for a better app. How I payed $20 for the talk time yet still get pop up ads every time I open it is beyond me. Unfortunately I’m locked in until I burn the minutes. Don’t get locked in, look for a better app.

Impressed. This is the first time I've ever used this kind of an app. It has surpassed all my expectations. The call quality is good, the service is amazing and the app works fast and easy. I would recommend this app to all my friends. I have thoroughly enjoyed it and I am grateful that in today's society we can rely on the technology that is available to us.

Has Been A Good App for my Needs. This app on my iPad is the only mobile phone I have, and I love it! It would not be a good substitute for a cell phone for people who use their phones a lot for talking, as there is some delay in hearing the speaker and vice versa (not real bad, but would make a long conversation less pleasant than a regular phone.) However, I don't like talking on the phone and my conversations are short. I use the app mostly for the text feature and urgent calls when I'm on the road. When I have to make a phone call, this app is quite sufficient. On my limited budget as a retiree, it saves me a bundle.

Big bug problems. At first getting this app was a good idea the call worked perfectly but after a year they will charge you if you want to keep your same number every year that’s not in the bad part after a while they having a of bugs problems like it will keep ringing after the the is dropped also they will be drop a lot even if you are hooked up too wifi also they have so many commercials are purpose make you pay then to get rid of the commercials not to mention this app will frozen your phone b/c it’s so much going on with the pop ups & ads very frustrating

Love this app. I am editing this review. Beyond mad!! I paid for a number so I did not have to text every month to keep it. My payment expired last month. Due to someone hacking my credit card I could not renew right away. My daughter texted me and the jerks at this service gave my number to someone else!!! Not ever a courtesy time for a paying customer. Well they won’t get another cent of my money My daughter is in Canada and I am in the US. She has free Canada texting but could not text me. Thanks to freetone letting me get a Canadian number we can now text. You get some inline ads but they are non obtrusive and easily ignored. Thanks for such a great app

Top free texting/calling app period!!. I love this app! Been using it since my phone got shut off and I must admit I am impressed! Calls are clear as long as your on a decent WiFi connection. Texts usually go through when sent. Only gripe is that my friend won’t get a text here and there for some reason and it will say it went through yet they never receive it. Other than that you cannot complain since it is basically free!! Thanks

Great App. =). I was needing an app so that I could use my phone until I had the funds to get it turned back on. Well I came across this one I’m glad I downloaded it. It works wonderful! It lets you choose a local number. The text message feature is great. So far no complaints about it. I would definitely suggest it.

Great for business. FreeTone has helped my business tremendously, by offering an alternate number besides my personal one. This has helped me separate my calls and present a professional front online for ads and business information. I post my business number on Facebook, IG, and Google to help route phone calls and boost business. I definitely recommend it for a business person like me who is constantly on the go and does not want to carry two phones.

This app does not work. This is the glitches I have bumped into with this app. Calls: 1. They ring and then the call hangs up. I dial back and it gives a messaging saying that there is a call in process. When there isn’t. So now I dial a couple more x’s and same message. When the app just catches up to what I actually wanna do and then the call goes thru and I continue my call, maybe about 5 minutes later. Who had to take 5 mins just to get the phone to ring? 2. Sometimes the people can’t hear me on the other end. 3. When I’m hold with, idk the power company, for over 20 mins and the app closes and just drops the call. So I have to call again and wait in line. 4. But before waiting in line again, I had requested a call back and when they actually do call me back, it rang for a micro second and I missed the call. Yea this app is annoying

one issue I am having.. So I have been using this app for almost 2 years now, it’s great I love it but recently it has been messing up. I call my boyfriend regular on this when my phone bill isn’t paid, and he gets my text and calls off of this app but I can’t get his text messages or calls? I went to look for a update to see if it was maybe a bug but there was no update. It’s frustrating for me having to call him and text him because he can’t call me or send me a text because I can’t get them.

??????????. So I signed up for this app and it was GREAT...but the glory was short-lived. Apparently I had to pay for my number in order to receive codes that I’d try to get from different websites to secure my accounts, etc. I don’t understand that if everything is free then why was my codes being held hostage on exchange-for-change? (I’m using a free app, ofc i have change lol :-p). I love this app and still do, I just hope that they REALLY make it free the next time around.

Just like every over app getting greedy for money. Until today I noticed that before I’ve had this app for maybe four years I could easily delete your number and create a new one for free and the reason why I like this app over every other app is because they had literally unlimited minutes which meant that you could go ahead and make calls for however long you want and now they have a where you have to buy new number just got to keep in mind that nothing last forever thinking about jailbreaking😂

It’s good but.... This is a good app. I love how it can make calls and text! The little problems I have is sometimes my messages and calls DO NOT pop up in my notification sometimes. I will have to click in the app and refresh it just to see if someone text me. I’ll mis a text from someone hours ago because it never showed up in my notifications. It also happens when people call. It would show up as “miss call” but I will never get the call. PLEASE FIX THIS PROBLEM!

Terrible App. I have written customer service several times as I am paying for this app. My text messages disappear or just never show up in the log. Sometimes I answer calls, and the other party can’t hear me. I occasionally cannot send or reply to text messages when someone texts me. I have to uninstall and reinstall the app so to see my updated message and call log at times. They said it’s because I’m sending out an unbalanced number of texts (which I’m not) and the “system” thinks it’s spam, but I’m just responding to texts I received. The app is horrible and the customer service is even worse…not helpful at all. Do NOT waste your time or money with this App.

Great App!. I've had few app that claimed to have unlimited free calls and text but they never really worked, when I finally found one they decided to have a monthly fee to use their service. I'm glad I finally found another app that it's really free and works perfectly. I just hope the same thing doesn't happen now. I highly recommend this app. A++ (5⭐️)

Pretty good!. I have an iPhone 5s and I don’t have an iMessage account and then my friend told me about this and this turned out great I can text my friend across different states and I have my own phone number with no bugs but there are ads often which isn’t much of a problem. So overall this app is great..especially if you don’t have iMessage and need to text OR call friends with no bugs really, at least I didnt find any. Great app for texting and calling!!!👍👍😃

Annoying Ads Force me to Delete. For the simple purpose of being able to disguise your actual number by using this instead, it works as needed. HOWEVER, the constant notices to “use it or lose it” messages if you stop using it for a week or two are ridiculous. You’ll get them constantly until you use it again or lose the number. Then you’ll get CONSTANT notifications requesting you pay & go premium. No thanks. Deleted.

Really works. So I was in a bit of a jam and needed to make a phone call quick when I found this app. I was heartily surprised to see it really works like a real phone number and you can place calls up to pretty much anywhere. It also starts you off with 10 free credits which I’m really grateful for, after that however you may need to buy more credits which range in price from 100c for like 2 bucks which is dirt cheap I’d say. If for whatever reason your number is cut off and need to place a call then I definitely recommend this.

Satisfied customer!. When friends or family would tell me about an app that gives you a different number, and can be used by wifi, I never believed it. I needed tot all to someone over text, but did not want this person to have my real number, & now a days no one answers blocked calls. I was spectical but tried to use it anyway, and amazingly it works !! This an amazing app, is very convenient ! If I meet someone knew, & don’t want them to know my number just yet, I can use this app! Or people investigating a suspicious husband/or wife, again can use this app!! It’s sneaky. But love it!! It also can be used for people who can’t afford to sign a contract with Verizon, or sprint, I have my own cellphone carrier, so I have service and internet , but I think if I didn’t have money for a monthly cellphone bill, I think all I have to do is be on wifi and that’s it! Buggy. Still has bugs. Messages don't show sometimes. I don't where they hide. The app crashes frequently when receiving pics and on viewing them. Battery usage on iPhone is huge. Would be lucky to last an hour from full charge to flat. I can get many hours of usage with the normal phone text messaging and phone calls. Also the battery gets very hot.

Best app ever. The best. It is really good and I have a iPod and i'm 9 years old and I chat to my friend and he is 9 too and the best thing it's free to chat and when we go out we tell each other and we stop chatting and when we get back we say we're back so we start chatting again u should get it

Annoying but great. It is a great app but It stopped working and when my and my friend tried to text each other we wouldn't receive each others texts! Usually once it has been sent a green tick will appear but it never does!

Text me!!!. Ok I've had text me for over two years for some resin it's decided to not send my messages and whenever I hit to send them the day maintenance in process what does that mean do now I have to delete my old one and get it AGIAN text me what's going on man ??

So so. It's ok but it's just annoying that u have to refresh it just to see the message. For anyone that reads this message I recommend kik it's an app that u cannot send videos and not voice mails but u can talk with ur friends and not need to refresh it and it is much easier to use.

Text me. I think text me is a great app but has one downfall, and that is that sometimes it does crash for no reason at all, even if you are just typing at a slow speed and not confusing it with pressing heaps of buttons at quickly.

Never need a phone again😄. This is the best app ever and texting is the best too its quick and easy but it would be WAY better if it didn't need Internet😜 If any 1 thought this app was bad then look again this is the BEST APP EVER and always will be! Great except ads. The latest version terrible - now too slow and why do you times after ever message?! It was a good ap but a drag paying every month (99 cents) for no ads. More annoying is being unable to remove ads for a while (you can hardly see messages with the ad block) because the little trolly doesn't always show (the trolly is the button to use to start the process to remove ads). This is a flaw...or possibly deliberate.

Best App ever!!. You can add friends and text to them like it's a real phone!!!  it's very addicting and you can ask friends to join you too!!! The only thing I dislike about it is that you need Wi-Fi to text. But you can see your messages that you receive anywhere!!!  But mine keeps crashing because I kinda just got it when I try to text someone, and I can't get the updated version because I don't have enough space. What can I do?!?!

Fantastic !. This app is perfect ! I use it to keep in contact with my partner who is currently serving on operations with the ADF, it helps so much to be able to video or voice call and so easy to send pictures or videos ! A big thank you to the programmers 😃😃😃

HELP!!!!!!!!. It's a great game text me but I can't send my friends messages except for one the reason why I can't send my other friends messages is because they are blacklisted for me but I did not do it and they did not do it and they can send me messages but I can't and I really would like to send messages to my friends but I just can't can you please help me!!!!!!!!!!!

Great app BUT...... This is a great app, I have my best friends on it but I can't text one of them it keeps saying I'm either blocked or blacklisted but I can still see her texts so I can't talk to her. We have tried almost everything to fix it but I won't work! 😞

Better than Ping!. The whole family have this one and it works better than Ping. More reliable and no delays in delivery of messages. Having more than two people in a message would be good for the free version though! Good to have emoticons on the free version unlike Ping Lite! Keep up the good work!

I think I'm in love. This app is a very good way to stay in touch with your friends, especially for those who don't have mobile phones and there for can actually text, and it's great that this app is free and the feature that allows you to record voice messages is a wonderful touch, easily passes for one of the best text apps ever created!!!!

Textme. Textme is A fantastic webpage to use. I believe that this is the best way to talk to friends and family that is to far to see. textme is an Internet required page. As a person that has tried tones of other talk sites this one is the best.

BEST APP!. This app is one of my favourites. It's great if you want to make some arrangements or just to say hi and chat. The groups thing is pretty cool too. I don't use it much, but when I do, it's very fun to use. I like to change my themes, and to play around a bit and look. The only thing I'd want to change, would be, if you could delete friends. Not working. I just downloaded this app. For me to use in Canada to another Canadian number is requiring 5credits per text. Also for whatever reason it is asking for $32.99 per month for premium features, rather than 5.49. I don’t understand I thought this was a free texting app in Canada

LOOSING NUMBER!!!!!. I had an awesome phone number and I memorized by heart and I had all my contacts link to it and I’ve lost it all I cannot believe it this is the stupidest app ever!!!!

SPAM CALLS. The amount of spam call I receive everyday from this app!!! I have had to block over 200 numbers in total cause everyday I receive anywhere from 2 (on a good day) to 6 spam calls. It’s exhausting! I can’t even pick any call anymore. I just block any number that calls me.

So Annoying to use. Firstly nobody will get back to you. They send messages explaining how serious they are taking my issue. I’ve received 4 already. My messages disappear then come back, and repeat. When I log on it says I have a bunch of new messages but there just messages I’ve already sent or replied to or ones ive deleted the entire conversation to 2,3, 4,5,6 10 times and there they are again like brand new. Very frustrating .

Always log out for me. I use it very often. But it logs out automatically approximately once a month and it’s very annoying when I cannot answer the phone when it’s logged out.

Not free at all. Some time ago, you could earn credits to call and send texts by watching adds. There’s no other way to earn credit now than by buying them. Oh, and you need to text or call once a week to keep your phone number. No longer FreeTone, but PayTone

WAY TOO EXPENSIVE Now. This was a good app/service when it started, but it’s way too pricey now. To heck with you gougey buzzards, freetone! They don’t offer half price deals on credits anymore. The first year, I “secured” my number for $20. Then they upped the price to $27. Now, they don’t offer a one year - the gougers sell 3 month terms for $21. Well, they lost me as a customer. There’s no need of these giant price hikes. Freetone doesn’t even work that well. I can’t use freetone for what I really needed it for - 2 factor authentication. It doesn’t work with Apple 2 factor authentication or with my TD bank account. The security codes just never get delivered. To heck with freetone. They lost me permanently as a customer - greedy, gouger buzzards!

Try not to miss calls.. Been using this app for a month or two. One time had an echo problem, but I think it was my buddy’s network. Don’t waste your time. Since google voice doesn’t work on my phone, this is the next “best” option. I’ll be looking for a different app to use. Horribly buggy! Calls take up to 2 mins to dial, often won’t allow you to hang up, incoming calls still come through with it turned off, and calls don’t go through half the time, they’re just dropped - absolutely worthless waste of time. Try every other app before resorting to this.

415 IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE‼️. ⛔️ WARNING: Freetone will give your number to someone else if you aren’t using it regularly - even if you’re paying. Why should they care how often are it’s used and do they not realize emergencies come up unexpectedly?? 🤦🏼‍♀️ That’s what happened to me: I was told I lost my local number due to “inactivity” ….as I was under extreme duress dealing with two back to back family emergencies for many weeks….and the last thing I was thinking about was my talk/text App. 🙍🏼‍♀️ So when I attempted to get a 415 replacement number- it was no longer an option. Seriously ⁉️ 😡 I know three people who got brand new cell service in the last six months and they ALL were given 415 numbers. So it’s an issue with Freetone. I’m switching to another App.

App Won’t Open anymore. I’ve had this app for about 4 years. I live overseas and need an American number and I’ve paid for the app to keep the same number all this time. As of November/December, the app will not open at all, I can’t access my messages or calls. I’ve deleted the app, downloaded it multiple times and nothing. I tried the developer website and received an error message. The app was great when it worked but now I’m paying for something I can not use and need!

I only have one problem in this app and it is a tiny problem. The only problem I have with this app is up there so many ads. Other than that, it's all good free international calls, unlimited texting, and unlimited calling.

Great application. This application is useful and handy, but the only problem I have with it is that it declines my called whenever I receive one. The convenience of being able to text and call without having a cellphone is great.

Used to be Perfect. Was able to make calls with this app with ease, now calls drop out after ten seconds because a video ad plays in the middle of call. I can still text with this app, sort of. I fully expect to see ads but they glitch this app like crazy, and like I said the ads this app uses renders calling feature unusable.

Best app for multiple numbers. I have a business that has multiple google locations I needed an app that would allow me to get many numbers. I have tested just about all of them this hands down is the best ! Thanks guys keep it up!

Review. I just got this app, my 16 teen year old daughter down loaded this on her iPad for me. When I call out another number shows up. The number attached is her cell number. The only other small problem is when calling out it sounds like a little echo are far away but do able. I give it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Perfect for iPad users. Ok so I use an iPad and can't keep in touch with friends or family but with this app I just call them and simply talk obviously but I've been using it for months now and I'm starting to think it's even better all the time I call my friend aiden or Ian or etc. but yes I love the app I totally recommend it

Missing calls. This app is sort of working, drops calls all the time. I am really frustrated. Plus phone number price has tripled, yet calls are being dropped all the time. I am really disappointed. On further usage, the call drops continue in midstream. The app is buggy if you want to buy a second phone number I am not sure what is white this app but it does not work right. If it drops the calls it does not work, hence the. One star. I really want to like it but it is just unreliable more than not it does not even ring. Just unacceptable.

Stopped working. I’ve had it about a month. Worked well until a week ago. I haven’t been able to call out or receive calls. People can leave a voicemail, but that’s all. Since I lost my iPhone, I’ve been counting on this app on my iPad as my only phone right now. Huge problem. Update: Do not use this app. It’s only free for a certain amount of calls, then calling and texting stop. Contacted the website, got an email back saying I have to “earn credits” to use again. THIS IS NOT FREE.

App gets stuck at the end of every call. The app is good but it gets stuck every time I dial a number, after the call it says thanks for being the power user then gives an option of either by completing the task . Or do it later. But when I push nothing happens so I have to turn off my phone every time after one call.

I only have complains on the fact that I bought a number with over $50 and still have to pay for premium service worth 26$ every month simply to remove ads and text to US and Canada free... I really don’t understand why someone has to go through all that, Why not just have a premium service charge fixed for 3 months, 6months and 1 year respectively.... ??

Used to love this.. The pop ups make this app entirely unusable. It FORCES you to agree to get more points or leave a review. You cannot get past the pop up without being directed elsewhere. In my case this is a blank screen that cannot he escaped!! I have to turn my phone off and then on again just to get my screen back from the Nazi pop up which only appears immediately after viewing a single text or making one call. I used to use this daily and now it’s just trash.

Brad B. My Iphone suddenly lost service and I was left without a cellular. This saved my life. I tried a bunch off free calling apps but this by far out does all of them especially that the app has a clear sound when calling. If your in a bind try this, it won’t let you down

The best 2nd phone or even a first for some people. I use this app as a business phone and it works perfectly, it is supported by apps like google and PayPal and verification messages never fails to amaze me, I give this app a big 10/10 for the simplicity and well designed GUIs.

Great option for traveling abroad. I use this app when I’m traveling overseas. I download free minutes for watching videos. Excellent sound , great option instead of paying high roaming charges or paying extra for a international plans when traveling.

Awful is give it no stars if I could honestly. This app is awful. If you switch the screen to another app while you’re talking on this app you have a 98% chance of your call being dropped. If your screen turns off cause you haven’t touched your phone in a while then you have a 99% chance of your call being dropped. This is my main issue and it’s frustrating when you’re trying to make important calls. If this issue was a non-factor you’d likely get 5 stars.

FreeTone review. I like freetone, you can send not only text messages but also video - that is IF the person your sending the video to has at least a fairly recent smart phone. When I try to send my ex video of the grand baby, he doesn’t receive it but I think that’s his phones fault.

It’s good but can be better. When first using the app it’s really good, good phone calls and able to hear without static. But whenever you text sometimes it wouldn’t go through and the person I would be talking to wouldn’t get my messages that I sent. I also emailed the costumer service but haven’t heard anything in 3 days now about the problem.

Phone won’t ring when someone calls. I like the app just a few things I don’t like. 1 it doesn’t ring or ding or notify me at all when someone calls or text , also when I’m on the phone & have to move out the app it plays hold music I wish it was a option to turn that off but over all is good & serves its purpose.

Used to Work…. This app used to work for me, but now, every time I receive an SMS message, I’ll receive this text message instead: “Secure your number! The type of message you received can only be read if you buy your number for 1 week or more. Click on the link below to buy this number and read immediately your message. textme://?action=edit_phonenumber&phone_number=+1[My phone number] The Team at TextMe.” What’s weird is that I never bought this for only a week or as a temporary number. I’ve had this phone number for months, maybe even a year. Also, whenever I click on the link, it just redirects me to my profile/“Me” page. I am really disappointed that this is happening. Call clarity could be a lot better, but at least it works, unlike Google voice.. After trying to get Google voice to connect for over three months, I finally tried this service. It worked immediately, and has continued to do so. I do not plan to use it long term, but just until I get my phone plan sorted out.

Little Lani. This app is not my fav. I only use it to message my grandpa, and every other week it gives me a notification that I need to renew my phone number. And if I don't I have to get a new number! It drives me nuts because my grandpa doesn't know who's texting him. But it is also helpful if you have an old iPhone like mine, and your messaging app will only work with iPhones instead of Galaxy's, Samsung's, etc.,. Thanks for reading, Little Lani

Used to be good.. I’ve had this app for about 5 years. It worked well enough, although sometimes it wouldn’t alert me of calls/texts until much later. I saw past that and it was a pretty good app, that worked for my situation. Fast forward to now…it’s holding some of my text messages hostage. Here is the intercepting text from FreeTone: “Secure your number! The type of message you received can only be read if you buy your number for 1 week or more. Click on the link below to buy this number and read immediately your message. textme://?action=edit_phonenumber&phone_number The Team at TextMe.” This seems very dirty to me. It says texts and calls are free, but beware it’s not totally true.

Pretty cool and somewhat slow. I like it a lot. It's just there's a lot of commercials and I don't like how you have to earn your credits. It's also a little bit slow but it's better than having nothing. That's why give it four stars instead of five. Thanks definitely recommend

Notification. Is anybody else having trouble lately with the notification? For some reason, I don’t get notification and it takes a while for the mssg to come to my inbox? This happened on Sunday night, suddenly it stopped notifying me that I have a mssg

Only phone app that works for me.. Literally have no problems with calls, I use it when I go over my phone bill and have no way to communicate. I have my own number, and I can make and receive calls for FREE. Minimal adds, I am nothing but thankful for this app.

pretty impressed. moved to the mountains and my cell was giving me issues. Added this using wifi service and very happy. Opted to pay the $4.99 for no ads and extra features. My reception is excellent with free tone. Cannot figure out how to send text messages oh well..

Blatant lie - NOT Free. This ap does NOT provide Free Calls as stated in their description. This is a blatant lie. You have to get credits to make phone calls which cost money. You can watch video for credits but 90% of the time they don’t actually give you credits so you waste your time for nothing. I’ve watched three 1-2 credit videos and only received 1 credit. I also watched a premium video for 3-4 credits and received none. Shame on you for lying to these people. It’s cheaper to get a cell phone then to use this POS ap.

Text message not sent , try again. I paid for a monthly unlimited text subscription. for the first 2 weeks everything was well. The third week no message could be sent. I Got this failure message “Not sent, try again” it’s more than a week now and still counting. Can you fix this? I hope I’ll bé compensated? I love thé app though

Does Not Work Consistently. I’ve tried using this app for a long while, mainly because all my contacts use this number to reach me. It is HORRIBLE. I get notifications that I’ve received a message or call, and NOTHING will open or show up. Then I get contact from the sender in other ways and they confirm they sent messages that I never got. I also send messages, and they do not go through. This is so so so annoying.

Deleted old msgs keep reappearing as unread msgs. I love this app. My only issue that I am having with this app is the fact that my old deleted messages will not erase !!!! And a lot of old read messages keep popping up as unread. If you could fix this problem that would be thankful and I’m pretty sure a lot of people would enjoy that!!

Can’t receive calls. I can make calls out and The person on the other line can here me just fine, but when I receive a call and I answer both of us can’t hear each other I’ve attempted multiple times with no success I can’t hear anyone when they call me!

Very Happy. I am very happy with everything they have to offer I’ve had no problems. I have tried most of the apps if not all and this one beat them all it’s the easiest accessible app to get going on and you can have multiple numbers if you like. It just runs smooth.

Awesome app. So for a while I was using textPlus and it was good in the beginning but after a while, when I texted friends they never received the texts. That when I decided to try a different app and I like the fact I can also make phone calls on this unlike textPlus. I’m so happy I found this app.

Caller. It is performing as advertised. Was a breeze to set up, as it is to use. It is one of most useful things one can have in their every day life. Separate your work from your personal life. All in one devise. Have to give the person CREDIT for having discovered this capability. Everyone should have and get this app. Its clean, and smooth functions, you'll like. Give it a try.

Delete this app and stay away!!!. Now let me just say this, the app does work how it’s supposed to BUT, I keep getting 3s blank voicemails and calls from random numbers in places I’m far way from.. I deleted this app because of this since I’m honestly freaking scared. LIKE HOW THE HELL DID YOU GET MY NUMBER!?!?!? WE DON’T EVEN LIVE IN THE SAME STATE!!! I need an explanation to this!
