delete account. can’t delete account

Hacked. My gummy app totally rigged and unusable

Makes posting items a breeze. Smooth process for posting items for sale. Love that I can take photos and post ad from a single device.

Pauses music. The app pauses my music when I open it

Australia. It would be helpful if you’d mention that this App is for Australia in your App Description! I just wasted time downloading & installing this. I’m in the US so this is getting deleted now. What a waste of my time...

👍👍. 👍👍👍

No way to change location. Am in UK and there is no easy settings option where I can indicate where I live. It just assumes Australia even when I allow it to see my current location… which is Camden…

Poor user experience.. I’ve been using this app now for a year and it is very basic in features and functions. Critically, it doesn’t have a proper system of rating good sellers / buyers like on other sites. So you often get a lot of time wasters contacting you, low balling your items for sale, people ‘ghosting’ you and worst of all agreeing with you to meet somewhere to buy an item off you and then they don’t show up, so wasting your precious time. I know there is a community feedback feature on the app but it doesn’t really help as it doesn’t seem to accurately show all the members buying / selling history. Just a small selection of feedback. Gumtree, you really need to have a proper rating system and hold your members accountable for their behaviour.

Once good, now rubbish. This app used to work relatively well, albeit with a few quirks. Unfortunately some time back it started failing with network errors. I’ve done all the standard troubleshooting steps such as deleting and reinstalling, trying a different device, etc - same result. A quick online search turned up an enormous volume of reports regarding the same and similar errors. It’s not unrealistic to expect better from an eBay owned business. I’ve deleted the app and reverted to using a home screen browser link which is considerably less frustrating.

Needs improvement. I love Gumtree and wish more people used it. In regards to app, it would be nice to be able to remove an ad from phone and wish categories were better.

Borderline unusable on iPad. I’ve alway preferred searching gumtree on the ipad (pro) but recent updates have made it unusable. With the loading google ads in the feed every 4-6 listings, the feed shuffles as you scroll, reordering the listings. This actually causes a white flicker/refresh this is exhausting on the eyes. In addition it’s reorders the placement of the listings as you scroll. So, as you see a new ad appear it bumps a listing from the bottom all the way to the top almost out of view. The devs really need to spend some time using their app to see if it meets their expectations?

Has a serious performance issue. The last couple versions have a pretty bad performance issue that when I scroll through the ads it would often get stuck, sometimes for just a few seconds sometimes I would have to kill the app and reopen. It doesn’t happen when I scroll through the top of the list but the deeper it goes down the list the more often it would happen. It could be related to the ad contents inserted between the normal items. Anyways, if you can put the heavy contents loading job on a background thread instead of the UI thread it should fix the problem.

Good. Very good

Brilliant App. Very perfect website for buy & sell & really fixed bugs , anyway no problem still i use it from 3 years

So convenient!. I love this app for shopping. Sometimes I don't get an option to call a seller, when it should be possible, but other than that it is perfect.

So useful. Love gumtree wish it would have notifications like Facebook.. doesn't seem to do that automatically on my iPhone

Great App - Works Perfect on My iPhone. What can I say, Gumtree is a great resource and I've really never had any issues with the App. In fact, I use the App more than the website due to mobile convenience and good functionality. Well done.

Worst service ever. Was trying to post my ad several times last couple of days, never succeeded. After clicking Post ad, the ad never appeared in the ad list, it just disappeared. Was trying both via the app, and on the web site. Boo

App crashes after recent update. After the recent update the app was crashing and i am unable to open the app.

Don’t Update!. If you already have the app, don’t update to the new version! It removes the features ‘view nearby’ and ‘search by distance’ - it only lets you view their suggestions.

App makes buying/selling easier. We love the iPhone app and it's increased our ability to buy/sell items having access nearly everywhere we go

Misleading title. Please put AU / AUSTRALIA in the title. It took me 10 Minutes to figure it out and reset my password twice to realize that this app is for Australia, and this is not a general app for Gumtree. Annoying. There is a separate Gumtree for the UK apparently.

Bring back the old layout. I really don't like the layout of the new version. It makes it difficult to see each of the items without having to open each of them individually. Too many items on one page. Feels to cluttered and pics too small. Also, all my watchlist items disappeared when I installed this version! Very frustrating!

Why is it only in Australia. The app seems to block you out from choosing your true address if you don’t live in one of they’re suggested areas🤦🏾‍♂️

Needs search save and notifications. I use this app a lot! Works well, but could be better. Need to be able to save frequent searches. Also should be able to set up notifications to push an alert when something is posted that meets a certain search criteria. Craigslist+ (Cpro Craigslist Client) does this.

How about auction. Hi there how about an auction system similar to Trade Me in NZ?

Use it sometimes. There is no complaints though it would be much appretiated if you could view the pictures larger and being able to report a add as a scam as in the desktop site. Aslo sort apps by price would be nice

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. Find Everything you might need, and some things you’d never think you’d see, Gumtree is a go to app for me.

Turns phone into an space heater. My phone heats up considerably after using this app for only a few minutes. Also, tone down the ads, they’re literally everywhere.

Ɩơ۷ɛ ıɬ ! ! !. Ɩơ۷ɛ ıɬ ! ! !

So convenient. I can literally find anything here and for so cheap. The app is super user friendly and so convenient.

Thank you. Your a best forever

Great app!. User friendly app works well, messaging system is flawless. Easy to use.

This is what the iPhone was made for !. Of course we all know it was made for a lot more, but the way that the app integrates with the features on the phone makes something previously time consuming simple and easy. The search interface could perhaps use some other features as other reviewers have mentioned but they don't bother me, in fact I prefer searching on my phone to using the full site but it is in how simple it is to get an item for sale up on the site through the app using the iphone's camera... So simple yet such a valuable tool !

Can you help me to buy a dirt bikes please. Mohammad

Love the variety of cars. Love the variety of cars

Different country. It is for Australia only stupid thing I downloaded in America 🇦🇺

Nah. No thanks, don’t wanna write review.

sign in error. No matter how many times I tried to get into my account, it says that email and password combination don’t match. I tried doing it via gmail, and it STILL won’t let me in. FIX THIS BLOODY ISSUE!!

Horrible app with dark patterns. This is a horrible app, so many dark patterns that force the user to either click on promotions or have more notifications sent to them.

Posting. It’s Simple and fast as 1-2-3

Have more locations. This app is pretty good. The only dislike I have about it is that you can only buy things that are in Australia. You can’t change the location to the United States. Others that that it’s really good

Good. Good service Thanks

Great Service!. Easy to post and search. Sales and purchases with PayPal are super simple!

Thank you!. This app has been a life saver! We are moving back to America in February and still have so much to get rid of. We were thinking of posting an ad in the paper and have yard sales, but thought we'd give gumtree a try first, as we are so busy. So glad we did. The Gumtree app has been so awesome, it allows me to take pictures and upload them, and post my ad as well as respond to messages all on one device, so convenient. I've tried using the eBay app before but found it stressful and a lot more complicated. I love the simple, clean interface of Gumtree. I've benefitted from Gumtree in the past with purchases, and now I have already sold 4 hard to sell items in under a day; thank you, thank you! I'm going to miss this once I get back to the USA.

Terrible. Insists I am in Australia. Impossible to change it. Had to sit overnight just to show me ads on the other side of th world. If they fix it. That would be great. But for now not worth the frustration.

Useful and useable. The MyGumtree application has proven very useful to me. I am currently searching for property, and I have used the property search function extensively. There are many listings for the city I want property in. The application allows me to narrow the search to rental properties, which is what I want. The listings mostly supply the basic relevant information. A little more information would be useful. I would like to see more means to refine searches, for example to sort on date listed, cost, etc. The "number of bedrooms" should allow, for example, an option of 3+ and not only exactly 3. Occasionally the search will send me back to the top of the list after I have entered an item to view & then gone back to the search listing. Finally, users should be strongly encourage to remove listings when the item has been taken. Other than this, the application is very usable and handy. I look forward to the improvements.

👍🏻. Easy to use, helpful app. I just wish when an item was sold you could keep the data so you can see how much you have sold in the past.

Thief’s. My ad wasn’t approved but the deduct money from my Visa card and don’t want to refund me since the ad wasn’t approved

Nice enough. Nice enough app, just wish it had more of the options found on the actual website. For example, the website has a section for bicycles. The app doesn't so you are forced to search for bicycles under the general category.

Phone App vs computer, Gumtree take note:. Really like the accessibility of the phone app as I cannot use Gumtree on my laptop anymore due to the invasive nature of the advertising. I think on computers the advertising should reflect the nature of the search. I am a tool man & would not mind advertising of a similar ilk but am deeply offended by the ‘Modlily’ ads depicting women in bathing suits which are continually flashing up enlarged portraits & ruining my search for tools. I have tried to restrict the content but it returns the next day. I am not a prude, but I am offended because I feel these bathing suit ads are shoved down my throat & by having these ads flashing up ruins the pc viewing experience. Please consider only advertising which reflects the search entered. The phone app is great, thank you.

Would have been 5 stars if pics could rotate. Use constantly. Much better on iPad (I mostly use it on my iPhone but occasionally use on mum/dad’s iPad and the interface is SO much better). Live how the results from a search are set out in a grid format. But what the hell happened to being able to rotate images when viewing an item?? Always used to be able to do it until an update a few months back and that function was suddenly gone! IMHO this is absolute stupidity!! Far too many people have no idea about how to take a picture, as in, hold the phone SIDEWAYS when taking pics of almost anything other than people. Same goes for movies, hold your phone SIDEWAYS people. Anyway, for those that don’t, we used to be able to rotate the pic when viewing it but for some ridiculous reason, we are no longer able to do so. PLEASE, PLEASE give us back this feature. Why was it removed in the first place? Certainly didn’t add anything to the app by removing it. Either way, it's a great app, and would have been 5 stars if the image rotation wasn’t removed!! Please, get it happening.

Beware of scammers. I have had several really successful sales and would recommend Gumtree to anyone. However I want to detail an experience I had a couple of days ago. I was trying to sell a valuable for my grandfather that was a couple thousand dollars. Someone named Juan got in contact with me via email and said due to his hearing problem he could only use email. He said he lived overseas and would need to have an ‘agent’ come to collect the item for him. He said I’d need to sign some papers. After several emails back and forth with me basically asking what he was wanting me to sign, he said collection and delivery papers. We agreed on a price of $4500 and I gave him my bank details. Suddenly he says ‘and I’m paying $2000 for delivery’. I get a bank statement saying he’s put in $6500. I tell him I’d like to transfer the $2000 back as it’s his responsibility to pay the courier. Here’s the probable scam... He then sends me these really shady bank statements that say I will only get the money once I pay for the delivery ($2000) and the money has been ‘held’. It was at this point that I realised the scam is you pay the person $2000 and then they suddenly disappear and you get no money for the item. Luckily I realised and told him I was no longer interested and blocked him from my emails. The main message for me is never give a buyer your money. They will try to rush you to make quick decisions. Gumtree is great, but be careful. Hope this has helped!

No capacity to contact you regarding scammers. I was contacted by a buyer yesterday regarding a $1200 item I have posted and they quickly appeared suspicious, not wanting to see the item, willingly to send a courier ASAP to pick up and “pay” me via PayPal. When I prompted them to call me to discuss details as it appeared suspicious they provided excuses why they couldn’t call. When I insisted and made it flexible for them to contact me they then disappeared completely. I have an email trail, GT user name and email address of the person, if you wish to look into further please contact me for details. Whilst I like the GT system overall, it seemed impossible to contact GT to report this encounter, other than to hit the report button to advise GT of the brief conversation we had via the app before they requested to switch contact to emails. There should be more ability for valid users to assist in weeding out the scammers who spoil it for others. I would hate to see someone more trusting loose an expensive item due to this behaviour.

Works just fine. I’ve used both gumtree and eBay selling items, and I’ve found I like gumtree much better. It’s biggest advantage is it being free, allowing much greater flexibility. Also I like buying on it too, because I can shop locally, seeing the item before I buy it, save money and as a bonus it being environmentally friendly. The only problem is that it is sometimes a bit glitchy, for example with the message box on the mobile app at one point not letting you hit the send button if your message was too long (as it covered it up). For a free app, that can make you money it is very good though. Just be careful with some users, that you meet in a public place and they don’t lowball you.

People are unreliable. I have tried using gumtree to sell items-these are actually a very good quality-because we have moved house a few times. I have put ads out there as in most cases, we have unable to move our furniture to the new location just because of space. Just recently, for the past two weeks, we have been trying to sell about 12 pieces of very good, well maintained, wooden furniture and only charging a third of the price that we purchased it for. I have had about 90 people enquire about the furniture. Some have even said that they would come over the next day to have a look. And out of those 90 people, only one person has turned up to purchase a dryer. The other 89 haven’t bothered to either respond to questions that I have asked and I have answered. Nor, those that have said they would come over I’ve bothered to show up even after I’ve texted them, bothered to respond. It’s not so much the application, but people are absolutely unreliable. I would not bother wasting your time even using gumtree to sell stuff because you just won’t

Latest update is the worst version yet. Paid advertising adverts are creating a huge number of glitches which reset the page every time they refresh. Sometimes this refreshing is several times per second. It is difficult to scroll down to observe ads I’m interested in and the incorrect advert is often opened instead. Also the paid advert banners refresh in different sizes which compound the aforementioned problem. It’s incredibly frustrating and simply not worth using if you intend to scroll down to look at several items. On some searches you can’t scroll past the first item listed as it refreshes so rapidly that it comes back before you can scroll down. It has become an absolute joke and several of my mates and I have a competition to see how far we can scroll down as a drinking game. Most searches we can’t get past a few items. I used to buy and sell several items weekly but I have now stopped using Gumtree as my primary search for 2nd hand items

FRUSTRATING AND POORLY MADE AND MANAGED. 🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨 Can’t believe I had literally paid money to boost my ad on this app. My add was randomly deleted overnight. This has happened before when I had posted double and they send you an email if they deleted your ad. But they deleted my ad, didn’t send me an email and now all my adds are deleting instantly when I’m trying to relist. I’ve been trying to get in contact with them but I don’t get a response. I’ve now even tried to make a new account on my computer but once I sign up the registration email sends me straight to the website and when I go to sign in it tells me that ‘the email and password combination is not known’ and even did that with my old account too when I tried it. Dumb app. Full to the brim with scammers too. Not worth the fuss

Useful App. I like the concept of what the app can do and the general experience of using the app, except for one thing.. I don’t know if the app developers browse with in-app ads since that part of the app is frustrating. You can be browsing a list of item ads with interspersed in-app ads and the in-app ads suddenly change height or something and you lose your place in the list. It just kajiggers! Quite a few versions have had this issue and I keep hoping it to be fixed and must finally say something. Thank you. Edit: several updates have happened and it is nice to see that some developer time has committed to improving the in-app advertisements. While it still kajiggers a bit, the improvement is noticeable. Thanks. Useful app!

Great until recent update.... This was a pretty good app- it used to be great but an update last year made searching for items for sale more difficult, however posting ads was a breeze. The latest update has not improved the ease of use when purchasing items, and had made listing items for sale much more difficult. It freezes a lot, seems to be very glitchy, doesn’t remember my location (requiring me to edit this EVERY time I list an item), has an extra step involved when you click the “post” icon which wasn’t there previously, and requires more clicks when trying to post multiple items as compared to pre-update. Also it now completely reloads EVERY time I leave the app to check details or copy text from another app- SOOO annoying. Was a 4 Star app before this latest update, I hope the developers read reviews and look to fix these issues. If so, I’ll happily amend my review

Mostly Okay. The good: 1. The rating system and visible length of time people have been Gumtree users helps avoid scammers. 2. Decent responses to ads, both as a buyer and as a seller. Fewer dodgy people compared to FB Marketplace. 3. Intuitive interface. The Not-So-Good: 1. Glitchy, especially when browsing vehicles. Changing a search parameter will cause vehicles to vanish without reason. Inexplicably odd search results, too. E.g., I got hundreds of vehicles in a city when I set the search radius to zero, yet only ten results when I expanded the same search to a 250km radius. 2. No customer support. At least, in my experience. 3. The sponsored ads that appear when scrolling can often make you lose your place and skip actual Gumtree listings. 4. The sponsored ads seem to open spontaneously as you scroll past them. This has been a recent issue for me. Sometimes sponsored ads will open several times in just a few seconds of scrolling. For me, it’s almost always Apple Music, so it opens Safari and then the Music app, which I then have to close. Because of this I’ve stopped browsing on Gumtree at all and only use the app for specific searches.

Has been great but bugs need fixing. I’ve had the app for a while, and it did work as it should until a few months ago. Other than a couple gitches here and there on the off occasion, the main concerns I have now are notifications, and reviews. I’ve checked and re-checked all notification settings in my iPhone system settings as well as in the app - EVERY notification thing is on, yet I either don’t get notifications or it pops up on the lock screen and then disappears when I unlock the screen (doesn’t stay on the app icon) even though I haven’t physically gone into the app. There’s also no way to see reviews of people who’ve posted on you, nor to review them in return. Please fix!

Very Buggy - needs work, should be a lot better. Recent issue to add. Listing photos not loading well when scrolling. When scrolling down, going in/out of listings you can be reading a preview then the screen skips and you lose your place. You’ll find yourself scrolling up & down trying to get back to where you were. It seems like ads loading is causing the issue? It’s been like this a long time and badly needs fixing for a better experience. The further down you scroll the worse it gets until ultimately and unfortunately it becomes unusable. I just reduced my review from 3 to 2 stars. I’ll add this, latest update clicks you into paid ads (not the listing ones, the garbage nobody’s interested in ones, namely the Apple Music app ads) while you scroll. I notice it doesn’t do this on any other listings so it is gumtree redirecting you unwillingly. On rethink this type of deliberate action actually deserves the minimum stars available.

Ad heavy, but works well enough.. When eBay (the company which owns Gumtree) named this application “Gumtree Local Ads - Buy & Sell”, they weren’t kidding... This application has loads of in-application advertising! Admittedly the in-application is not the end of the world as some App Store reviewers would have you believe, but it is pretty intrusive and detracts from the overall experience. At times, it feels like you’re just scrolling through a catalog of random advertisements, rather than browsing or searching a classifieds application. In stark contrast, eBay has very little intrusive advertising within the application, which suggests that this may in fact be a deliberate attempt to drive traffic away from Gumtree Local Ads - Buy & Sell... In saying this though, if you’re in Australia, this is still the best classifieds application available by a big margin.

Not keeping up with Facebook marketplace. Gumtree used to be the place I’d look to buy or sell but often it isn’t the first anymore. To sell, Gumtree doesn’t allow you to repost (“promote”, in their language) without paying. Sure you can start again but that’s too time intensive. Better to just tap “renew” in Facebook marketplace, up to 5 times. To sell, the Gumtree ap automatically makes my private details (address and phone number) available in a way I can’t hide or even delete. This is utterly unacceptable to women who May choose a third location or not reveal an address until they feel safe to do so. Poor form, Gumtree. If I can say that FB protects my data better, you know you’re getting pretty low in the safety stakes.

Great app but still needs improvement in some areas. The messages never come through even tho notifications are turned on and app a lot of the time will not load people’s phone numbers on adds I’ll click call and the button just goes grey and won’t load no matter how many time I close app or delete and download again and turning phone off equally dose nothing only way is to just wait until it work again Am on iOS with iPhone XS Max don't see why I get the issue I’ve had either, overall great app but is lacking in couple areas but nothing that can’t be fixed with an update, ps needs a refresh too the app hasn’t changed to much over the years and could do with new features & maybe even a new looks for few things to modernise it some As said great app just could be tweaked a little to make a lot of a difference in user friendliness and better interface thanks and hope this is helpful feed back and can be used in a good way, Definitely some food for thought for the designer’s and editors

Only 1 flaw, but it’s a big one!!. I’ve only recently created & started using my own GumTree account & so far, I absolutely love it & think the app is great ...except that whenever I switch apps to share a link or anything else, even if it’s literally for a matter of a few seconds, then when I switch back to the GumTree app, it totally refreshes so I loose where I was up to in my search & have to wait for the app to reload as if I’m opening it for the first time & then do my search again & find where I was up to... This isn’t happening cause I’m “totally closing the app off” either, I’m talking about when I simply leave GumTree running in the background for a second just so I can quickly copy, paste & send a link for an ad to my partner in our messaging app, it happens EVERY time & it’s super annoying... I’ve looked through the app settings & can’t find anything to change to make this stop, I’ve also got “background app refresh” switched on in my iPhone settings too, so I can’t think of any way to possibly fix this & it doesn’t happen with any other apps, not even other Auction & Buying apps, it’s super frustrating & has been making me just give up looking at certain times, my partner & I are rebuilding a car so when we’re looking for parts, I’m always wanting to share a lot of links for ads to him for him to take a look at, other than that, the app is great, it’s just that one flaw that’s super frustrating!!

Great, But Could Improve. I’ve used gumtree quite a lot this past year and have found it really helpful for selling and buying locally, but have run into a few issues. Once a seller deletes their listing, not only can you not find a trace of the listing anymore, but all your messages to the seller are deleted too. This is especially problematic when posting an item, as the seller may delete the listing because the item is sold and then all contact is cut off with no way to follow up on a delayed or lost parcel. Without a way to rate sellers or buyers’ accounts, people are also free to negotiate rudely, or go against other trading etiquette with no repercussions. I have been stood up a couple of times. Despite this, it’s a great app to find used things and sell your stuff

Scams Galore. This site is great if you want to purchase items, there doesn’t seem to be many fraudulent sales, or there is an easy report button if one is found. However, if you are wanting to sell something on this site, particularly a bigger ticketed item, you will receive scam messages through the app, scam texts, scam calls with no easy function to report them. You can’t look at a persons reliability or profile through the message function so you need to waste time messaging them to know if it is actually a legitimate enquiry. Granted it doesn’t take too long (especially when their name and email aren’t even the same) but it’s the countless “is this item still available” messages sent. Improvements regarding who can use the site and better reporting function for scams and profiles of the people messaging would make it better to try sell items on the site.

Slow death!. Was once a great app, over the years has slowly died! Has become so glitchy that it is nearly impossible to use. Had issues when scrolling as ads would load slowly causing the page to jump up and down to different places. That seems to be about 90% fixed but now after scrolling for a minute or so the app becomes really glitchy and kind of freezes as you swipe and make scrolling through searches basically impossible! This causes the app to become heavy and the battery literally runs down in front of your eyes. The other issue is it randomly switches to gallery view and won’t change back to list under the refine section! Loved it once, but it needs to be fixed! Spend some time and money fixing bugs please!

Corrupt system. I’ve been a valued and experienced gumtree user for about 6 years. Seems to me their customer service has gone down hill over the coming years. Now I’m never using gumtree again and here’s why (I’m sure many of you all can relate and agree to this): They delete your ads for no reason at all and when contact them via live chat asking why etc, they tell you “sorry there’s nothing we can do about that” and then give you the same auto reply answers and shut the conversation in your face and restrict your account permanently. Absolutely disgusting customer service! Also each and every agent I’ve spoken to are nothing but rude trolls rushing to end the chat. How are you going to get customers to use gumtree if you keep kicking them out?! I do not recommend using this rigged app. You’re better off finding another source to buy/sell from as this app does not benefit you. If I could rate this app one star I would. Never using this app again! Well done gumtree 👏🏼 Just lost a customer 👋🏼

Ad disappearing after posting.. Myself and another person I know have both experienced an issue where upon posting an ad, we receive a notification saying our ad might take a few minutes to become live. We wait until the next day, it’s still not there, no draft, no record, we have to rewrite and submit the entire ad. This happens a few times, all of a sudden we’ve spent an hour doing something that should have taken 5 minutes. Luckily my ad posted... eventually. My friend however had to contact support in which he was told that if he wanted to post an ad he had to use a desperate computer to the one I was using. He was also very rude and struggled to comprehend and take accountability for the issue on Gumtree’s behalf and instead tried to pin it back on me saying it’s our fault for using the same device for two separate accounts on a shared computer. How ridiculous. I hope the issue is actually reported so it doesn’t happen to anyone else.

Sellers.... beware of dodgy buyers on bigger ticket items.. The missing star accounts for the time wasters and desperate fraudsters who take the enjoyment out of the gumtree experience. Be warned sellers... these individuals will find a way to worm their way into making you believe they are genuine -be vigilant and stick to Gumtree’s ‘staying safe’ tips. Fortunately, I was lucky today -the incorrect figure, change from talking in first to third person , asking for good deal because they had a wreck of a car that cost $2000 to repair, the dodgy looking PayPal receipt ( I never sent a request to pay) , no funds and some links that were inconsistent with the normal payment process... the list went on. This mystery ‘Sharon’ persisted with the sale and built up a rapport over a couple of weeks. In the end, the devil was in the detail. Stay safe with your sales fellow gummies. I’m sticking to face to face from now on!

Sickeningly frustrating app. Please contact me. I wrote an a whole ad and it was deleted because I pressed ‘back’ after selecting the wrong category for that ad. Not good. I wrote an elaborate description of another issue I was perceiving with an ad, and after finally being received by live chat and texting conversation, I pressed ‘back’ to look at something else i couldn’t get back to the tech support live chat. When I tried to, it seems I have to write out again what my issue is and go through the process of getting back to the live chat I was just in. Paid $40 for an ad to be bumped up and it seems like my friend can’t actually find my car using the the basic keywords… he can’t find it straight up… he’s presented other vehicles with settings the contradict the keyword search… this is disgusting. Also, their pet policy: “if you don’t believe in vaccination, you can’t advertise your dogs for sale here.” Basically, that’s it. Here’s something to do: try and figure out how to post an item for offer for free… I’m trying to post an item on offer for free, and cannot intuit how to use this software… it’s disgustingly incomplete If one tries to post an item ‘for free’, one just might not be able to figure out how-to… as I myself can’t.

Very useful. A few minor issues. This app is very helpful and the design and layout looks good and is easy to use. The main issue I’ve had is if you accidentally tap the back arrow too many times, you have to re-enter all of your search terms. This could be resolved by not resetting the search filters unless the user selects the ‘reset’ option in the filters list. Also, the search parameters for finding a car (and I'm assuming anything else) are very limited. The specs are all listed if you go into the ad so it would be nice to be able to filter out all cars that are 4 speed or use over a certain amount of petrol. The app already stores this information so why not let us use it to filter out posts we're not interested in?

Too may traders now. I have had freezing issues this week. I love this app but Gumtree is now a place for car dealers to sell there over priced cars and finance. This makes the ordinary person think there cars are worth more then they actually are. I would like gumtree to stop dealers from advertising. Give the little people a place to sell and buy. Traders have dozens of ads, i have had some literally say they just sold a car 1minute before you get there for a look. I wont be using gumtree as much. If i wanted a dealership i would go to the car websites. Too many ads its really unpleasant to use the app now

Good app BUT buyers are time wasters. The function of the app is really good, selling things and posting things are easy. Yes maybe the search function and refine could be a bit better but what makes the app really horrible are the buyers. BIGGEST TIME WASTERS!! There could be about 20 people expressing interest and saying they want to buy them, some of them even asking to give payment already. And when you give details they just fall off the face of the earth. No replies to messages, no contact, nothing. And yes I know you can't expect people to purchase things in retail, but I think gumtree should have a function where people can rate there AND see them. Once a conversation flows only then will gumtree put those three faces up to review but they're meaningless. No one else can see them, no one else can view another profile. It's useless to ask what our experience was like with a particular person if we can't even see what others said about their behavior. Just stick to eBay, you're better off making money there.

Gumtree alerts are a nuisance. I find Gumtree’s search function makes this app better than it’s competitors, however it has taken a step backwards by adding in alerts from Gumtree. I frequently get an alert from Gumtree saying “.... has a lot of interest. Contact the seller now”. I am beginning to wonder if it is actually true because it happens for just about every single ad I click on, and if it happens that often it really doesn’t mean anything anymore. I received a Gumtree alert this morning at 1:00am. I really don’t want to be bothered at this hour. Can’t you set it to not send those notifications in the middle of the night? Or better still, stop sending those notifications altogether? I know I can turn off notifications, but I still want to receive notifications from other users, I just don’t want this same notification to keep coming through from Gumtree day after day.

Still buggy. I love using gumtree to buy and sell all the time but the app continues to be buggy even with today’s update. Most notable issues are, you can not enlarge photos when looking at an ad from the messaging function. It just pops up a white screen. You have to go back to the listings, find the ad and click on the photos from there. Secondly it seems to freeze and shut down fairly often. I’m using a iPhone 11 max pro so don’t think it’s my phone. Notifications are really slow or non existent without refreshing it, especially from the instant messaging. Many users I deal with during sales complain about this. Lastly, and not a bug, but the watchlist seems to be capped between 65 and 75 items. It removes the oldest listing if you go over the cap. It would be nice to be warned you’ve reached your cap instead so you can choose what to remove (or no cap at all) as it’s frustrating to lose a bunch of saved ads without even knowing. This is the first comment I’ve ever written but I feel this app could be great with a few fixes.

Important for sustainability. Gumtree is very important for sustainability and reducing landfill... it’s still the best way to give something a second life that most people would consider junk. There’s almost nothing I’ve listed that I haven’t found a home for — the more obscure stuff you might have to wait a few months but it’s very rewarding when someone finds it and says it’s exactly what they were looking for :) I’m normally a desktop guy, but the convenience of taking photos and adding ads on the fly with the app is great. App seems to work well so far, it’s intuitive enough and hasn’t annoyed me significantly after listing 5 ads (I’m very critical of bad UIs and user experiences in software, so that’s a compliment). I believe every physical thing that still has a use should be passed on to continue fulfilling that use (or for repurposing) when no longer needed by someone, and Gumtree is an important part of that process here in Australia. Just a hint: always give as much important information as possible when listing (particularly in regards to sizes). It might take slightly longer to list, but you’ll save time answering users’ questions later and it improves potential buyers’ experience.

Why I love g/t. I want to take this moment t personal thank g/t for helping me to find all and more of building surpluses I have needed to do ALL the renovations on my little house. I am a single woman and with your help g/t I have almost completed my house. I have done award winning gardens, built a car port, built an outside dining room, built two wide decks around side and back of my house, extended and renovated my bathroom , renovated lounge room, also one bed room , two more to go. I am currently renovating my kitchen . So you can why I love gum tree, two years ago my son and his two daughters made me a gum tree birthday cake. It was the best cake ever, I was also made a gumtree t shirt. They call me the gum tree queen. You ask if I love gum tree, that’s a hell yehhhh, I am soooo grateful to each and everyone of you. Thank you from Deborah Christie. 👍🏆

Love gumtree. However…. Let me say first off I love your app! Really great when you need to sell something quickly and without too much fiddling. The only thing I hate is that the mobile application gets super laggy whenever I search for an ad and start scrolling and I have to restart and go back in and even then it sometimes occurs again. And the other issue with scrolling to find an ad after searching is frequently I’ll get bumped up or down the page maybe due to the ads and I’ll lose track of where I’d scrolled to. Overall great app and is great to use on a computer! But could you make the mobile app a less laggy? Cheers!

Very Inconvenient. It would be really great if the app actually sent me notifications like it’s been set to do! I hardly receive messages when they are sent to me, which is incredibly frustrating as it has lead to me missing out on a lot of items because I have not replied.. due to the fact that I have no idea I’ve received a message from seller. Not to mention the amount of messages I send that don’t even go through... I want to be able to use this app/website as otherwise it is really good. But it is impossible to be able to use properly when a huge part is being able to receive and reply messages and I am unable to check the app every few minutes..

Enjoy the app but frustrated with watchlist. I enjoy using the gumtree app as I am in the process of furnishing a new house and with the app I can easily check for new items while I’m out and about. However my biggest gripe with the app is the watchlist. Why do my saved items get deleted off it after 1 week when the seller has not altered or removed the ad?!?! It’s absolutely frustrating as I’ve already spent hours scrawling through a years worth of ads to find this particular item. The watchlist should also have a filter option so I can view all the beds I’ve saved vs all the dining tables. There should be a notification of an item disappears off the list due to the seller having sold already - and the item/ad should be left to be reviewed for at least 24hrs after sale so that we buyers know what we missed out on! The app is not friendly for buyers to use...fix the watchlist/saved items please.

Super useful but also mildly frustrating!!. I have been using Gumtree for a while, but have only now needed to try and make an account in order to post an ad. Every time i try to log into an existing profile or make a new one in the app, it will not let me, so i have had to use gumtree in an internet browser because i cannot log in on the app. when i try logging in, it gives me an “Error” message, and when i try and make a new account it won’t let me press the button to create the account even though i have done everything it has asked me to. this happens to me on both my phone and my ipad and i’ve updated the app and made sure my devices are running the latest firmware but it’s still not working. I don’t know if this is happening to anyone else but if there was a solution that would be great.

Great site with some feed back. Gumtree is a great site. In saying that there is room for improvement on 2 major areas!! Better control on people that contact you as there are so many con artist out there trying to extract your information to use your details to excess your bank or set up things in your name!! They work in teams one texts you the other might call find out more information as much as possible to scam you & your personal details! Give nothing but place to meet don’t even give real number address use across the road or next door so they can’t peace together all your information. In saying that the only other negative about the gumtree is the site is so so slow to load when searching!!! I’ve done test & it’s the site not the speed of the net!! Apart from that great site!!! ✌️✌️✌️👍

I LOVE GUMTREE. This is an AMAZING app and so useful and handy as I like how you can set your location so local things in area come up. It also has a range or things that everybody likes. There’s only two thing’s wrong… you have to be ware of scammers although this occurs on any social media app. Also when I sometimes I scroll down it glitches and then I can’t look further down although this might just be something to do with my device but I thought it was worth bringing up over all I LOVE this app and scrolling down it to see what treasures I can find this app definitely deserves a five star rating in my option

The app is buggy and contact seems impossible. The app has always been buggy for me, despite deleting and reinstalling multiple times. I have always had issues getting notified that someone has messaged me back and often the messages are screamed up somehow: missing some, the wrong order, me and the person I’m messaging with are mislabelled, etc. I’ve gone to report these issues through the very “app support” button here and keep getting sent around and around in circles on the FAQ page. Currently, I think someone has done something dodgy with my account and I can’t even find a way to contact you guys to report it and get help and am resorting to leaving a bad review. I love buying and selling on gumtree, but it has fast fallen out of my favour to other platonic that are less messy.

Gumtree issue. I’ve been using gumtree for many years now and always enjoyed it however now you’ve made it so people have to pay money in order to advertise there cars on the gumtree site witch I highly dislike as mentioned I’ve been using gumtrees for many years and I’ve used it to make myself money via advertising my vehicles I buy and resell on gumtree, from now onwards I will not be using the gumtree app to advertise my vehicles and I’m pretty confident a lot of other people will consider this change unfair and the way it was set up to option a boost in advertising was a much superior way to go about the selling process of vehicles, I do not see people paying minimum $19 in order to advertise there $400 vehicles. I really do hope this will be taken into consideration and the decision will be made to have the process of vehicles sales is changed back to its original far superior way. Thanks

Pretty decent app, however it can be improved. I have always used Gumtree to buy products and search around for products... However, I recently put an item on sale for the first time and realised a few areas where this app could be improved. First of all, when receiving messages about a product, the messages get very bundled up and confusing, making it hard to distinguish which buyers are actually “serious” about buying, and which are just saying “Is this still available”. It would be AMAZING if you guys could add in a feature which could ‘mark’ certain people with a specific colour, or if you could group messages and keep an option to section buyers, making us users have the ability to keep potential buyers in one section, and other buyers in another section, stopping us from having to delete the other buyers along with their whole conversation The second issue is that old listing aren’t cached, meaning once either the buyer, or the lister deletes a post, it cannot be seen again. This is quite a big issue, since posts which users have deleted cannot be saved, and they cannot view the post again in the future to refer to. Secondly, this also causes a major security issue, since fake listers who unlisted their item cannot be viewed again, meaning that their listing cannot be viewed again after they unlisted it off Gumtree

I love gumtree “but”. Truly Gumtree is the best place to buy and sell goods The only improvement I can think off would be giving participators the opportunity to rate there interactions with fellow uses. Sometimes I deal with very good people who read the ad and only ask appropriate question and also people who also write ads with information that is relevant Unfortunately ther are people in the Gumtree community who do not do this and waste other people’s time by not doing the above and also do things such as not take ad down when it is no longer available, not responding to messages or a pet dislike for me is what I call “ low ballers” who send messages just trying to cut your price without any inquiries. It would be awesome if we could single these people out by a rating system. But over all the pro’s outweighs the cons by far and always use Gumtree to buy and sell on regular basis Thanks Gumtree if only to help us stop throwing of reusable goods out and therefore saving our money and even more importantly helping our environment 👍👍 Thanks for reading my review I’d agree help me get administrators to set up rating system 🙏 Harvey

Love Gumtree, especially the app!. Absolutely LOVE Gumtree, especially the app version! (Find it a lot simpler to create & edit apps using the app version). Their service is amazing too, I had trouble creating an ad once & they responded straight away & fixed the problem for me immediately (turned out a link I used was too long, who would have thought! So they recreated a shorter version for me to use). Gumtree is so much better than eBay if wanting to buy or sell local items. You don't have to pay for ads unless you want the extra bells & whistles, so the choice is yours. Also the go-to for other random things from less-local sellers. We found our beautiful Ragdoll from a breeder in remote SA on Gumtree! Amazing website & app, 5+++ stars from me :)

Buggy and unfriendly user interface. Sometimes does not post properly, unintuitive interface, hard and restrictive to edit, buggy. Feels like something that was made 2 decades ago and have not progressed except for adding more ads, and maintained by undergraduate or work experience developers. Tech support is unhelpful. Also they don’t allow multiple accounts in the same household. So they block out other accounts if they originate from the same house. I contacted support and was told they expect everyone in the same House to share one active gumtree account! How’s that suppose to work when multiple people share the same house, each wanting to sell their own stuff, with their own personal email address and their own linked PayPal for receiving payments? But gumtree support just regurgitate the canned response “we are sorry for the inconvenience blah blah” and that was it, no help to resolve it at all.

The App doesn’t Auto refresh. The App even though open on my phone or iPad doesn’t refresh with Message updates. This is a big problem when I have something listed, if people are trying to contact me. I also get annoyed when people don’t respond to my enquiries about their products/services. It’s not enough to be sending messages via email, just in case the App doesn’t work. I generally only get time to read my personal email box once a day. I am also convinced this feedback opportunity is rigged not to give a low score of 2 stars. Have tried to submit with 10 different user names and none seem to be “available”. I’ve used the most obscure user names.

Little more than an iad viewer.. TLDR : dont update the app unless you like watching annoying video based advertising, and waiting long times for actual listing photo’s to appear. constant video based ads every 4-5 listings, uncached, resulting in listing photo’s not loading due to data streaming requirement of ads (in slower data areas). The gumtree app used to be fairly good. Yes there are always issues with dodgy traders. In my region there are constantly guys flogging new non-au-compliant electrical items, and caryards listing 40+ cars in a row that eclipse all other sellers. Buyer beware and all. BUT. The absolute worst part of this app is now the advertising. In the latest update, there is an advertisement, invariably a video based ad, after every 4-5 listings. When using mobile data, this means that you wont see the actual photos of the items people are selling, rather the annoying video ads will take their time to load. Ive just spent 10 minutes watching the exact same video ad downloading again and again (apparently no caching). Its obvious that some advertising helps pay for the app. That and the many paid listing options, however how many potential buyers are seriously being put off by this repeated flooding & delays. It was so annoying ive spent the time writing this sooky review. Seriously the app is becoming increasingly user-unfriendly with every update.

Some feature requests please!. Have been using the Gumtree app on both ipad and iphone daily to buy and sell, but find it incredibly frustrating that as a seller I cannot sort my own advert listings by expiry date, listing date, by price, alpabetically etc etc. PLEASE can you add this feature. Also, can you PLEASE include a feature like on the gumtree web site to “manage my adverts” so I can see at a glance which adverts are expired and then repost “in bulk” instead of each individually? One final request - I never receive notifications on either ipad nor iphone app when I receive a message from a buyer. Could this be fixed please? These three features/fixes would increase convenience and ease of use immensely for sellers with more than 3 or 4 listed items. Otherwise great app, thanks!

Gumtree is getting worse with scammers contacting me as a buyer !!. Gumtree is getting worse with scammers contacting me as a buyer !! I’m very annoyed when I advertised something new the same day I get quite a number of scammers asking me to reply to them only by email and asking me for personal details and even twisting conversations in emails to state I would agree to pay for a delivery I did not even discuss Beware as there seems to be no way to contact Gumtree about these fake people scammers It happens every time last time it was by text asking me to contact them by email even though I stated if your a genuine buyer to contact by phone call only due to the people scamming on this site Getting to a point that it’s not worth using Gumtree as there seems to be no way to block scammers and report them so there are now many of them on Gumtree !! Beware do not fall into their traps ignore emails and ask to be contacted by phone in person only otherwise delete them...stay safe all 👍

Starting to become eBay:(!!!We already have one of those!. Recently I’ve notice a lot more adds for brand new items :( this completely destroys the whole point behind the app. I don’t want to purchase new things, if I did I would go to eBay!!! The last thing we need in this world right now is more push for people to buy new items! Also the app has started disregarding your distance settings, after you get past all close items it simply keeps scrolling with a wider radii and mainly promoting new and payed for adds at this point. Your ruining something that has the potential to prevent so much waste obviously in the quest for more profit, it’s just sad that you stoop so low. At least give a search option for only searching used items!!!

Too many Ads!. I used to love this app but now it’s full of business advertisements. As you scroll down the page it has become very laggy / jerky. It’s sooo frustrating when you go to click on a listing only to have an ad pop up which shuffles everything up or down and you click on the wrong thing taking you to the advertisement or a non related ebay item. Speaking of eBay, if I’m searching gumt for a locally listed bulky item like a used fridge 20km from Brisbane, why the hell would I want to see eBay ads for something listed in Sydney or Melbourne that is pickup only. It’s just dumb. Im not a big fan of Facebook Marketplace for their clunky user interface but I find myself using it more and more due to gumtree advertising. Shame gumtree, if you keep this up you’ll loss all your business to Facebook.

Issues with saving an ad. I’ve been a gumtree user for several years and haven’t had any problems with the app until recently. When saving an item to my wishlist/saved items, it un-saves as soon as I scroll past the post and I will repeatedly have to save each item multiple times for it to stay in my likes. This can get really frustrating as you won’t be able to find an item in your likes as it didn’t actually save. I’ve also had issues with the messaging section with messages not coming through or sending off of my iOS device but they will come through on my laptop. Overall, gumtree is a good app however with some improvements it could be much better and easier to use.

Gumtree review. Almost perfection!!!just needs to work on message being delivered to sellers

Does what it says on the tin!. It's easy to use and I've sold or given away everything I've put on here. Thank you!!

Worst in app pop up ad ever!. Gumtree is so terrible by add a misclick AD. When using this app, always accidentally click this stupid AD AND open the browser. So annoying! Fortunately, I can rolling back to the old version.

Great app. Really intuitive and feature rich without being over complicated. Love it :)

Best version. Current version is best Photos are not blur any more. Easy and handy ever

Lacking. Country validation is required to post or reply to ads, the app doesn't let me post or reply, waste of a download.

Great app 4 buying n selling-ultra love it. Benefits backpackers! Great for re-using and recycling stuff. Find phones, surfboards, trailers. Sell your soul, or buy some hoarder's unused treasure.

Question. Hi guys.. Do you happen to know why I am unable to attach any file when replying or even attach a picture of my puppy for sale using this app on my iPhone 4? It's annoying.. Cuz these items are important. with my blackberry all these works.

Needs tweaking. Always accidentally opening ads. Design feels dated. Besides these two things, it's actually better than on a browser.

Really good for everything to sale or buy. This app really good and i love it too much

Easy to use as a seller. Use this weekly. Easy to post.

Needs Manage ads + iPad Support. I posted an ad on the website, but now I can't manage it from my phone, I have to go back onto the website. Please add the ability to login to your account and manage your adverts. Also please add support for iPad. Have a look at the Maarktplaats app, THAT is what this app should be like!!!

Great app. Great app, use it all the time and have got some great deals.

It's good. Mmm kay?. Works. Good search capability. Nice watch list feature. Quality interface. I can dig it.

Gumtree is awesome! Easy platform to list your goods.... Gumtree is awesome. You gotta love how easy it is to list your item. Brilliant in its simplicity. Chase R

Great app. Easy to use. Great way to buy and sell items from your local community. Couldn't be easier. Great smartphone interface. I love this app!

Very easy to use and wide array of results. Also, very quick to post and sell items. Thanks, Gumtree.

Great!. Does everything I need it to. Best companion. Sold heaps of stuff through Gumtree.

I love gumtree. The app could be improved. A lot is missing and it's pretty slow. I like the option to 'favorite' an item. But better off using gumtree in safari.

Great App. I use it daily, for both selling and buying, selling side is so easy to use!

Gumtree Feedback. Brilliant app! Only problem i have is being able to post a add and ad a image! Please fix! Else it works perfecr! Tx

Nice way to access the platform. Nice way to access the platform

Bugs. App is ok, some bugs that need to be fixed to create a better user experience

Fantastic way to buy and sell. This ap is great - it works just like the website. Gumtree is the best!

New version is a downgrade. Previous version was perfect on the iPad, really working well with the screen size. New version feels like a bloated iPhone interface (that itself wasn't good). Where are my "saved searches"? Makes it harder to keep track of interesting items...

I'm looking for alternative service in Australia.. Despite being the top advertising site in Australia, the recent addition of top ads and other ads makes Gumtree look like n work like a trash box. I'm really disappointed with this service. I will be using Gumtree lesser in coming days and when a better alternative comes up, I will give up using this.

Very good app. Works good, works fast, I would give 5stars if they added a better option clicker

Photo downloads?!. Easy to use and great fun to browse on the go but could you please include a feature to save photos to camera roll? I love browsing on the go but what's the point of hi res photos if you can't share your awesome finds with your mates?! Please add this feature! Can't be that complicated?

Great App for my iPhone. I love this app on my iPhone. I would like to see a retina app created for the iPad and also an update where we can use our login details in the app itself. It's annoying after posting an ad that one must go to our email to activate it.

Loading times are painful. Initial loading times are so slow on iPhone 4. Also the app doesn't have the personals section incorporated. Otherwise it's helpful and nicely organized.

Great app!!. Couldn't move house without this app! It's very easy to use, never a drama posting on here. Thank you!

Great app for sellers and buyers. Very easy app to navigate. Makes selling simple

Easy to use and quick. Been very happy with how easy it is to use.

Useful Tool. This app has been very helpful in finding the things I need to purchase.

Update's needed. Please make this app optimised for iPhone 6 Plus and its resolution.

Gumtree App a must!. - easy to use - able to upload images without a host - no fees required to post ads

Pretty good. Would like to see a 'my gumtree' section to manage ads

No HD iPad version?. The app does what it should - at bare minimum. Will be a lot better if not running on zoom version of the iPhone version.

All you need. Easy and efficient way to buy and sell all you need.

Great App!!. Well laid out, easy to use. Would be even better if you could setup alerts for new postings.

A great service and serviceable app. App works well; responsive; smooth. A bit strange that in these days of social there is no buyer/seller rating.

Gumtree. Excellent I love it ... Keep it up .. Best app since sliced cheeses but one problem I can't remove a advertisement from my phone

Great app and thank you!. It is very easy to use and very easy to find the items I want

All needs at one place. Full of information loaded

Must use app for frugal shoppers!. Just moved here from the U.S. and GT has saved me heaps! An essential app for anyone down under!

Could be better. Looking for things is not very fluid or intuitive. Lots of tapping and scrolling to get the job done. Also, when you make a new ad it does not show up under My Ads on the web. Make it more integrated please.

Nice app but few things missing. The app is nice and has a nice feel to it, but when for example looking at houses and flats to rent, you cannot refine the area and choose Atlantic Seaboard, Cape Town, Winelands and so on. This should be improved as I have to leave the app and go back to my browser anyways.

Gumtree Rocks. This is the easiest, most user friendly app to purchase online. I LOVE IT!!! I wont use anything else...5 stars

Love it!. The most helpful is a refine option.

Use it every day. Love it! Just wish I could zoom in on the pictures.
