I Wish The Functionality was better. This is just a sort of takeoff on Duolingo. A cheap version without all the bells and whistles and childishness of Duolingo. The problem is they don't repeat the words to you a lot of the time depending on the context and it's almost impossible to type for some reason it doesn't seem to pick up on the characters and I have dictation for a reason – extremely bad arthritis – and yet it will not allow you to dictate a response which would be very good for speaking Spanish because the Spanish keyboard that you would have to install to dictate won't write just anything you're gonna have to pronounce it right. So they give you no pronunciation practice whatsoever and because of the way it's programmed if you start answering the questions before they're done talking they stop talking. And they do not repeat the answer once you've entered it. It's very so so. Purchased the subscription but the ads will not go away no matter what I do. I'm probably gonna cancel before my trial is up because this is too much trouble and I don't like being forced to look at ads when I've paid my dues. Bad programming pretty much overall on everything. Get the free version and use it as a dictionary.

More accurate than Google Translate. I love this app because it offers you 3 choices of translations, and the ease in which you can look up the meaning of a word, and examples of its common usages. I wish it had more space to type a short paragraph, as I use it frequently for conversation via text messages. This App is more accurate in Spanish (Mexico) to English translation than Google Translate (GT). I have caught many embarrassing mistakes on GT by double-checking on this App. One time using GT, I almost asked my gardener to marry me. Luckily, I knew the translation didn’t look right and double checked here. Ever since then, I say “when in doubt, check it out!”

Overall A Great App. This is an excellent App for Spanish learners. I use it in conjunction with Reverso Context. The pronunciation help is excellent. In most cases of a single word you clearly see Spanish syllable structure and the accent syllable. You can also switch between LATAM and Spain pronunciations. Use of the word in context is okay but much better in Reverso Context. It is also easier to find more suitable word choices in. Context is very important in Spanish when deciding what word to use for a situation Verb conjugation charts can’t be beat in Spanish Dict. Using Spanish Dict and Revero together is the best solution I have found. Nothing wrong with the other Apps. They just fall a little short.

Una herramienta de la primera clase.... to have a look in depth at various meanings of individual words I Leo español, que es mi idioma segundo, con facilidad. Pero cuando encuentro una palabra que es nueva a mi, SpanishDict en my iPhone es mi primero recurso para aprenderla. La aplicación es excelente y fácil de usar. En inglés, I read Spanish, which is my second language, with ease. But when I encounter a new word, SpanishDict it frequently whenever I find myself uncertain in any way regarding a new word, and especially if a word I have seen is being used in a new way. There are many other interesting and valuable tools worth examining yourself, but the fact that it gives. ALL translations of each word, from not one but three authoritative Spanish-English bidirectional dictionaries is what really makes it about as useful a language app as you could hope for.

Best app for conjugations and explanations!. I’ve been learning Spanish for a while now and as much as I already know, sometimes I forget how to conjugate an irregular verb! This app is perfect for times like that I can see all of the conjugations for all of the tenses which is awesome! It’s also useful if you don’t understand a grammar topic like forming commands in the usted/ustedes form. It’ll give you examples and also how to form it correctly when to use it! Not to mention if you don’t know a word in Spanish you can look it up in English and it’ll tell you the correct word with examples as well! You can also take quizzes to practice what you learned! Hands down the best app for Spanish grammar!

Like everything except the computer voice. At some point they stopped using the excellent persons who were pronouncing the words in both Latin American Spanish and Spanish the way it is pronounced in Spain. They started using a computer voice that actually pronounces the words totally wrong sometimes (even I can tell). It also does not seem to recognize where the accents go, which is very important, and even puts the accents on the wrong syllables sometimes. They need to redo a lot of the lesson explanations with actual native speakers. Or, if they are insisting to use computer voices, they need to use more advanced AI. I don’t want to learn to speak Spanish the way a robot would speak Spanish. Otherwise, it is a great app.

App constantly reboots to home page. I really do love everything that this app has to offer, and I use it almost every day, but the only thing that really drives me nuts is when I briefly switch from the Spanish dictionary app to another app, and then return back to the app (without having even been out of it for 1 minute), and it has taken me out of the page I was looking at and taken me back to the home page. So then I have to go through the whole process of getting back to where o was. Sometimes I have to do this multiple times, because I like to make notes in my phone sometimes, so I am frequently going in and out of the app, and every time I do, it crashes and brings me back to the homepage. So I’ve gotten to the point where I just use their website instead of the app to avoid that incredibly annoying situation

The GOAT! 🔥. Even without a subscription (yes, I mean free of charge!), this is by far the best app/website for learning Spanish. Especially for those who already have a solid baseline. I’ve completed AP Spanish 4 in high school, 1 year of college, Rosetta Stone, Babbel, LingoPie… and I’m sure other… 😅, and never have I felt more confident in conversing in Spanish with natives, and I’m finally speaking in complete sentences; though I still have to work on my grammar. To be honest, I don’t think you ever stop working on grammar in Spanish! 😅 It is so tricky! It’s worth 3x the cost of a subscription, in my opinion. Thank you! I am so grateful for this app! 🙌🏾🙏🏾

Great app to learn Spanish on in real time.. Great app to use while learning Spanish! Has quiz’s you can take, gives you full translations of any sentence you type in and will repeat it back to you in Spanish so you see it written and hear it too. Very, very helpful! This app has helped me improve my Spanish reading, writing and verbal exponentially! I am a hands on learner, this app helps me to do just that while I am having real conversations with my Spanish friends. I type in what I want to say and it translates it for me and lets me hear it as well so I can learn to listen to my Spanish speaking friends better and pick out the words they are saying. Most Latin people speak very quickly so ‘listening’ is often challenging. Get it, use it, learn and have fun! Then go travel a lot and make lots of friends so you can practice your Spanish speaking and writing.

Used App In Spain- Great!. this app saved my life when i thought 3 years of spanish class would be enough to survive a month in Spain. used this app on countless occasions when talking to my host family. my only improvement to this app would be to add more offline translations (when you don’t have wifi/data, you can still translate certain common phrases that the app knows without using wifi/data). there a few offline translations, like “i love you” or other common phrases like “where is the bathroom?” but i would love it if they added more. when you’re traveling to mexico/spain, it’s likely you won’t have a data plan and rely only on wifi to translate things. having more offline translations would be great if you couldn’t find wifi.

Best usability with the best translations.... Since this app is agragated from info by actual Spanish speakers who want to promote the best use of the language (as opposed to algorithms or data scientists), it consistently has the best translations (which will change dramatically as you input more of the sentence, and it understands what you’re ACTUALLY trying to say.) There are other translators that will give you words that technically work, but this seems to be the most intuitive as it pertains to true idioms of the language. It also gives the best explanations for language learners who need to better understand WHY one expression is better than the other (I use “X vs. Y” comparisons all the time to get a level of complexity similar to my native language.) Conjugation charts are thorough and concise (if you are a student, you could find yourself accessing them 100s of times per week- they are like ‘Quick Study Guides’ on steroids (which is why I finally searched for and downloaded the app, in order to have the most comprehensive ‘Quick Study Guide’ possible- although those are still useful, if you lose power or internet signal. ;-)..) This appears to have the full functionality of the website (simply cutting out the extra step of the browser.)

An EXCELLENT app to help learn Spanish!. This format of dictionary should be the model by which all other language dictionaries are developed. The conjugation and pronunciations of the words by native speakers is an invaluable aid if you aspire to be fluent in this language after a "do it yourself" sort of fashion. I have 100% confidence that I'm learning words precisely enough to speak them when they are demonstrated by a native speaker. A lot of these other apps simply use monotone robots that leave me feeling doubtful about my pronouncing of a word. The related website is also very helpful with its various articles and quizzes. I probably would not have the grasp I have today on this language without this amazing app. I am also always seeing new enhancements all the time. This app makes Spanish easily learnable. Also I can't thank these developers enough, this app is a true gift of knowledge, I have essentially learned Spanish for free!

Lovin' it!. The app itself is amazing to use, and just like other dictionaries, it gives you the pronunciation and various definitions. Unlike other dictionaries, though, it allows you to listen to the differences in English and Spanish (when the words are exactly the same, like karaoke) and gives you multiple ways to conjugate and use the word, especially if it is featured in a common phrase. What would make it better would be if, like the website of this app, it included a short video of a native Spanish speaker repeating it and using it in a sentence, and more slang from other countries. You could make the argument that since it's a dictionary, it should only use real words from different Latino countries, but it would also be useful to know what someone else said when they speak informally. Plus, it would be interesting to know! I've been trying to better my Spanish for some time, and this app is extremely useful to me whenever I tend to forget something, not know something, or confuse one thing for something else. Would recommend it for anyone who wants to have anything to do with Spanish! Also a tip for other users: if you don't find something on the app, chances are it's on their website.

SpanishDict is my go to app. I don’t usually write reviews. But this is so good that I have to do something to reward the makers of it because of how much it has helped me. My only regret is that I don’t have the $$ to actually buy into it. However there are so many benefits for free that I am progressing well in learning Spanish anyway. I like that they get their translations from 3 different sources, it helps to see the various ways it can be said. They also have excellent teaching aids to help you learn. 3 different people, all fluent Spanish speakers, have described the translations I sent them as perfect Spanish! You can’t do better than that!

Best for Translation, Conjugation, Grammar. This is my go-to app for all Spanish language info! The translations are far more accurate than other translators because you can compare three different translations and what words each uses. PLUS you can look up conjugation for any verb in any tense, which is extremely helpful, AND notes about various topics and full detailed examples about how words and phrases are used. The only complaint/or improvement I would like to see is an option to quickly reverse the translation like other apps do so it’s easy to see if the Spanish then translates back into English properly. That’s how I double check all my translations! And I wish there was an offline version for traveling!

Forget Google Translate 😍. Forget google translate - SpanishDict is an amazing app that has saved my life on countless occasions. I am a student learning Spanish and you have no idea how useful it has been. The app itself is very well run, and features beautiful photographs of places around the world every day. It has a very nice search option, where you can enter any word in either Spanish or English and it will seamlessly give you a definition. The definition pages look very good and often include verb conjugation. The app even has a word of the day, so you can slowly expand your vocabulary. It would also work very well if you were visiting somewhere else or were in a situation where you needed to know Spanish, because the app allows you to type in whole sentences which will be perfectly translated for you. Overall, SpanishDict is a beautiful, aesthetically pleasing, functional app, one which you should definitely download.

Best language app ever. Every day, I am more and more impressed with this app. It has been a godsend as a Spanish learner. It has everything in one. I no longer need to have a separate flash cards app to remember terms. Plus I can use any of the pre-made flashcard decks to study. I no longer need a separate conjugation app because there are quizzes within this app for conjugations. Plus I love the daily Spanish word feature which I have on the home screen of my iPhone. My only suggestion would be to include the countries that use that vocab term on the flashcard (since certain terms vary by country, ie. bus driver). That’s such a minimal thing though. I truly could not recommend this app more. I’d give it 10 stars if I could.

Great dictionary function - Usability decreased recently though. SpanishDict has been my favorite general-purpose English to Spanish or Spanish to English dictionary for years. Wiktionary is better for very low frequency words, and Wiktionary is also better in that it provides etymology, but SpanishDict is where I check first if I simply don't know a word. Wikipedia and then toggling between languages is best for technical jargon. SpanishDict provides good definitions, examples, and then a large volume of reference translations from sources like the United Nations. I don't mind the ads. In the past few weeks, using the SpanishDict app (but not the website) has become rather annoying. There are a lot of pop-ups about features I am not trying to use right now, and it loses my place if I switch between apps (often between SpanishDict and Safari). Not every time, maybe it happens after 60 seconds or something. It was clearly worth 5 stars a few months ago. Please address the pop-up suggestions and save the last entry I was viewing. Thank you, Curiosity Media.

Must have when learning Spanish. This app has helped me so much the past year I’ve been learning Spanish. It’s so much more than a translator. I love how the vocab quizzes can be spoken to make them hands free. I like to do those every day while I’m putting on my makeup or folding laundry. I’m up to 2600 words learned now! I also love the word of the day emails and all the examples you get with each definition. The only thing I can complain about is that sometimes the speech recognition on the vocab quizzes can be a bit off, but it only happens with certain words. Like I’ll say the wrong word and it counts it as right or I say it perfectly but it won’t take it. It’s not a huge deal and most of the time it works fine.

Necessary download before going to Spain. I’ve been walking the Camino de Santiago for a few weeks now and SpanishDict is a necessity. I have a very limited Spanish vocabulary. I found myself in Leon today with a very specific hiking injury and I needed new shoes ASAP. I navigated myself to the best running store around and was able to use this app with the store owner who spoke no English to talk through my Metatarsophalangeal issues, my feet, my pronation, and my specific athletic needs with no friction. The app was so fast and so accurate. He was able to get all of the information he needed to help me and use the app to communicate back. I ended up buying a pair of shoes that immediately helped me, so it was a win for both of us. Thank you SpanishDict!

Great adjunct to Google Translate. I've been travelling in Costa Rica for the past 3 weeks and this app has been indispensible while communicating with taxi drivers, waitresses, bus drivers and especially when asking for directions or assistance. It doesn't offer the Spanish to English translation that Google translate does, but it seems to do a better job translating English to (Costa Rican) Spanish. When I have the luxury of translating my questions ahead of time it really shines. It also has a very well organized sub menu of common phrases related to things like Time, Numbers, Colors, and common tourist questions like "what time does the bus arrive" or "where is the nearest restroom". It is geared toward someone trying to learn Spanish, as opposed to facilitating communication without having to learn like Google translate. I use both applications together and find that both are equally powerful tools in my quest to communicate here.

Issues with VoiceOver. Hello I use this app with VoiceOver which is the feature built in to iOS that reads the screen out loud and helps the blind interact with their phones. Starting with iOS 13 this app either freezes (or causes voiceover to freeze) to the point where it is unusable. Voiceover will become so sluggish that it takes seconds to respond when swiping or exploring the screen. I think this has to do with changes made in voiceover and/or iOS in iOS 13 that all apps need to account for. I have seen this behavior in a couple other apps and will be contacting their developers as well. Thanks for your attention to this matter.

Okay But.... The app seems well laid out but one major drawback is not being able to save words or phrases to your list in the actual definition page of the word. So if you see a word you want to learn and you want to add it to your list for later viewing, say the word of the day, you have to go all the way to another screen and type the word in just to find it AGAIN. But considering this is a word in a different language that you’ve just seen for the first time ever, trying to remember the spelling and the word itself isn’t easy. What’s the point in making people exit the definition page of a word to head to another screen just to RETYPE the word in to find it again so you can add it to your list? That’s so impractical, especially in a language learning app. In every other app I have there’s a button on the screen that lets you save the word to your list while you’re viewing the definition for the first time. To have such a small but necessary feature overlooked is clunky and difficult to ignore.

The best Spanish language app for serious learners. I’ve been living in Colombia for 6 months and was at an A1 level when I arrived. I’m now at an A2/B1 level. I have been taking classes consistently, but not many hours per week. I’ve also used or tried most of the popular apps. I’ve found myself using 2 apps the most - SpanishDict and Google Translate. The more fluent I become the less I use Google translate and the more I use SpanishDict. Duolingo is good for people who just want to mess around, but if you really want to learn Spanish the lessons, tools, and cheat sheets/tools in SpanishDict can’t be beat. I just can’t say enough good things about SpanishDict. It’s worth upgrading to the paid version. My Colombian boyfriend even started using it because it contains a lot of the more nuanced parts of language translation like colloquial phrases, slang, and naughty words in both English and Spanish.

App is very helpful in general, but has terrible stability. Alright, so the app itself contains a lot of useful information and it really helps me out in a lot of ways. In that regard, this app is great. However, I can’t give it 5 stars because of how bad the stability is. Many times when I type a word that isn’t in the dictionary, instead of saying that the word couldn’t be found, the app crashes. Sometimes when I’m reading something in Spanish and I don’t know what the word means, I’ll use this app, but for some reason when you switch to this app from another app, this app crashes, literally every single time. I don’t know what’s going on, I’m on the latest iOS with an iPad Air 2, so there shouldn’t be many, if any, issues.

Great app but I have a suggestion.. This app has helped me learn a lot and was recommended to me by my neighbor. I like that you can add words to a favorite list for a quick reference and there’s also a word game. I do wish, however, that the word of the day would always have a translation in the app. I receive their emails and have noticed that any word of the day that doesn’t have a translation in the app is slang in a specific country. It would be nice if they could integrate that information into the app instead of just in the email. Example: August 3, 2018 word of the day was “Qué xopá” and did not show a translation in the app. I didn’t realize until later when I saw the email which explained that this phrase comes from Panama and translates to “What’s up?”

I will be Subscribing. Your app is far superior to what my expectations had believed. If I had found your app before EWA I would be currently subscribed. Not only do they feature conjugations for any tense, they provide us with realistic human pronunciation! What SpanDict. can learn from EWA is to provide interactive vocabulary games amongst learners. Also, provide reading exercises with translations built into the side panel being just a click away. If these two features were added, I wouldn’t second guess my decisions in which app I’d invest in. Over all, I’m happy advising this app to my other Spanish- learning companions. Thank you.

Apple Widget Malfunction. I love this app. I especially love the examples of words/phrases in sentences that one can use to understand how to properly apply such words/phrases in real-life circumstances. However, recently this app’s largest apple widget is not showing me all the information. Specifically, the largest widget is supposed to show me the word of the day with two examples of it being used in a sentence. Unfortunately, I have been unable to see the second example for the past couple of weeks. Other than this, my experience with SpanishDict has been amazing. 10/5 stars!! ;)

Love it!. How to conjugate verbs, games, real sentences, definitions....there’s so much I don’t know where to start. Before I stumbled across this, learning was a chore. Now it’s getting fun and soooooo much easier. Everything a language learner could ask for and free to boot. At the moment, I can’t think of how to make it better, but I’ll bet if I do and suggest it, they’ll do it! When I look something up, I find things so interesting I start jumping around and look/read so much more than my original quest. This makes my vocabulary climb faster than it had been. I’m still a super beginner, but this app should be on everyone’s list...beginner or not.

Love This App But..... Love this App but when you are trying to listen to the verb conjugations on audio the font is so small that even a stylus has a hard time pressing the speaker icon that it closes the menu for example present verb conjugation. It is sooooo frustrating! You spend more time trying to punch the speaker icon than actually learning the correct verb conjugation. I donot believe this is what was intended. They conjugations are itemized nicely in a list. I just wish the font was larger or the list spaced out enough so that when you punch that sound icon the menu will not close and you don’t have to spend time tapping and retapping to get a sound of how a word is pronounced.

Great work! But word of the Day Needs Work. Keep up the great work. Substantially better than the other apps out their. Speech recognition is very good. I got my first word of the day and it’s a horrible word - cañaveral which means “reedbed”. Are you kidding me? This is what I hate about most words of the day - the words are useless and a waste of time and memory space. This word is so uncommon I’d never even heard in my own native language. Words do the day should be words that are used in everyday language but more nuanced, NOT advanced literary degree words. I’ll give this a few more days to see how it does. We should have words like “folder” “dye” “board game” “snowboard” “gutter” “drain” “overwhelmed” - words that we actually would use! Not cañaveral. This is just nonsensical.

Best electronic Spanish-English dictionary I've seen.. I've tried several Spanish-English dictionaries, and this is the best I've seen. When connected to the internet, it will translate whole sentences. It will show one translation, and then if you click the "other translations" button, you get three other possible translations, so you can have confidence that you're saying what you think you're saying. When not connected to the internet, it still does a great job of translating individual words. It gives plenty of example sentences in both languages for various uses. Another feature I like is that once you set up your preferred languages, you don't have to tell it which language you you are translating from or to. If I type in a Spanish word, phrase, or sentence, it gives me an English translation. If I type in an English word, phrase, or sentence, it gives me a Spanish translation, without me having to remember to switch modes. Love this app.

Great personalized vocab study tool, asking for some tech help. Very cool app as a competitor to duolingo; I enjoy the search function and ability to make my own vocab lists! This app was recommended to me by a friend who has learned to speak fluent spanish. A problem I have with verbal practice is that the audio does not allow me to receive a correct score for what are apparently more than 3 syllable words. The related vocab words were "fullerías" and "donillero." At least the quiz allows me to transition from verbal response to text response, that's nice, but it would be pleasant to keep a flow of verbal practice. Thank you for your time. I enjoy your free-with-ads app experience.

This is my favorite app for spanish, but it’s not perfect.. This is definitely the most accurate free app I’ve found for Spanish translation, dictionary, pronunciation, etc. However, the examples tab for each word has become obsolete (and at times offensive). Examples are not reviewed and there seems to be a huge surplus of examples for every word where the sentence is either offensive, grammatically incorrect, or simply doesn’t make sense. This makes the examples completely useless as you can’t count on the validity of them at all. I think the examples should either be removed entirely, reviewed, or limited to a select amount of correct examples only. Otherwise it really will just confuse people.

Basically flawless. If you are learning Spanish, I recommend this dictionary, whether you are a beginner or advanced. If you are a native, I also recommend this dictionary. Unlike Google Translate and other translating apps, SpanishDict avoids literal, fundamentalist translations that are often awkward or inaccurate. It also highlights all the different senses of a particular word, with enlightening examples that are always accurate (although some extra caption translations are sometimes inaccurate). Overall, it’s great, even when free. The lite version’s ads are never overwhelming, and there are many well-designed quizzes that really sharpen your vocabulary and conjugating skills. There are even full conjugation charts that come with practically every verb that you search up. IMO, the only thing that would make this app better is if we can have an etymology feature. Not for every word, of course, but for the main ones. That would be amazing, although it isn’t really necessary to learn the language. Overall, es increíble.

Truly impressive. I got this to look up Spanish words only, but then eventually tried the grammar lessons and vocabulary lists… then I discovered they have entire digital textbooks to use! The videos they use for grammar lessons are very high quality with pretty decent acting and videography (really surprised by that), and the structure of lessons and vocabulary lists is pretty amazing. I did the free trial and was impressed by how much is available and consider the full premium price to be a bargain for what’s offered! I can’t believe how much thought, work, and planning must have gone into this app. Gracias por la ayuda, SpanishDict!

I love this app, but…. I am a paid subscriber and I have been using this app everyday to learn Spanish. It’s been wonderful and almost perfect. But there are two things that the dev and product team can do better: 1. Have night mode/ dark mode. It’ll be a lot easier for peoples’ eyes and they’ll probably stay in the app for longer period of time because of this (what a great win-win situation!). Please prioritize this feature! 2. This app had froze a lot and this particular problem has gotten worse these days. I often have to quit the app and start over multiple times a day. This is pretty annoying especially when you’re deep in the “learning mode”. Usually I make sure I have closed all the other apps that I’m not actively using, but it still wouldn’t solve this problem. Sadly, I have slowly getting used to the poor performance and lowered my expectation to a point where I would be delighted that if I didn’t have to quit and reopen the app in a given session… PS. I have already emailed to your support team a few months ago but have not gotten any reply. :(

Amazing learning resource, little buggy at times.. I really like this app. It’s the best resource I’ve found for learning Spanish. My only gripe is that the technology needs a little more polish. If I’m in the middle of a lesson and I put the app in the background, often when I come back the app closes my lesson and returns to the home page. This can be frustrating particularly when I’m in the middle of a long lesson and I have to stop to answer a text or something. There seems to be no way to save progress. I also find that sometimes the sound on the video lessons cuts out. And the drag and drop lessons freeze up occasionally. Overall these inconveniences are not enough to detract from the enormous value of this app.

A superior translation site. Maybe a year ago, after tauting a competative translation-service to a friend, he simply sugested I check out your service to make a comparison. In two minutes, I had to agree that your site is superior—if for no other reason that it always showns meanings in the CONTEXT of examples (which alone has helped me avoid using a wrong word or failing to use a correct (i. e., an “idiomatic” or better word) in a spoken or written sentence. Also, the ability to enter a word in English or in Spanish is decidedly more convenient than having to indicate the language first. One observatin (maybe even a question): I’ve never seen you having to update your site (as happened continually with the other site. Id it because you don’t have to or because you don’t advertise that? Finally, in reading some older classics (e. g., “Los Novios” by A. Mansone), I notice you don’t always have a number of the rarer words in your service. But do you ever consider putting them in if they are searched for? Anyway, thank you for your really helpful service. Memo Pete

I live by this app. This is, by far, one of the best apps I’ve used in my life in general, but more specifically it is a fantastic dictionary that informs better than others, simply because they have example sentences that finish the work that definitions and translations can’t by themselves. Seeing a word in context is the greatest strength of this app. The picture of the day of different places in the Hispano sphere are all beautiful and the word of the day is always an off-the-beaten path choice compared to other word of the days that I have followed. And they are often seasonally relevant, too. And finally, it has a very informative grammar section which again, illustrates well through examples. It is my first go-to for anything I want to know about Spanish. I use it almost daily

Suggestion: options to Practice Spanish words with English choices and vice versa. My language setting is learning Spanish from English as a first language. Right now in the app, to practice words it has the English word and a pic and then 4 Spanish choices underneath. It would help to also have an alternative option to practice the Spanish words and 4 English choices. I think you can just do this if you switch your language setting to learn English instead of learning Spanish, but I still can’t copy my word lists over. If learning words both ways was available for people learning either language I think it would help a lot to mix it up so it’s not always the same thing. Zooming in on the articles in the app about diff topics is messed up.

Extremely helpful!. I’m studying Spanish while in college as a concentration for my major, and I absolutely love this app! I have trouble remembering certain irregular verbs in each tense, but I know I can always open this app and see all conjugations for nearly every verb. This app was recommended by my Spanish professor, and she encourages us to use it for studying. The daily word reminders have helped me expand my vocabulary. Unlike other translating apps, this uses the word in context, and suggests better words to use given the context; Google translate does not have this feature. I highly recommend this app if you need a trusty Spanish guide!

Better than Duolingo. This is one of the best recourses for Spanish learners. I love how you can search a word and get much more information (regional usage, context, facts, etc) than other translation apps. The lessons are great, too. I only wish with the lessons that you could pick a region for the vocab or it would name the region when it’s used. I also wish there would be more context with the lessons. Example: the pictures above the lessons always just show two people. I wish that when I needed to use “ustedes” they would show the person talking to multiple people so it makes more sense, or to somehow indicate that we are talking about someone else instead of me speaking formally to someone so that others can grasp the context easier, etc. but other than those small things I really love this app.

SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALIDOCIOUS. I knew this app was great when I got it. But in truth this app is FREAKING AWESOME!!!! I normally don’t write reviews unless I really have something that needs to be said. And this app is by far THE BEST RESOURCE for learning Spanish. Ever. PERIOD!!! Lo mejor aplicación para aprender español! This app allows to to TRANSLATE....CONJUGATE....LEARN GRAMMAR....VOCABULARY...and tons of it! And I recently discovered that they feature the 1000 most used words for the elementary, intermediate and advanced levels with VOICE RECOGNITION! This app is just the best and is TOTALLY dedicated to having you learn spanish. I can see that now! I would recommend this app in a heartbeat to anyone who is learning Spanish. Heck, even quicker than a heartbeat! Great app! Great Functions! Great Developers! Love it! LOVE IT! LOOOVEEEE IT!

Love this app. Incredible!. This app has been an INCREDIBLE tool in my Spanish learning. The dictionary is amazing and so helpful with day-to-day learning, and it is an accessible and reliable tool when I find myself in conversation with Spanish-speakers and I discover a new word I need to learn. I love that when I look up words in the dictionary, I can then add them to my vocabulary lists, so that I can study them later and really learn! Thank you SO MUCH for this app! And I am so grateful it is free. It is an invaluable tool, and as so much of my vocabulary and learning comes through SpanishDictionary, I truly don’t know what I would do without this app. LOVE IT and 20/10 recommend!!!!

Everyone needs a good dictionary. It drives me crazy that people depend on their translator apps instead of actually using a dictionary. I won’t go into my full rant right now, but I will say that this is THE ONLY dictionary that I recommend. Not only does it have all the words you could ever want to look up, but it has grammar lessons, vocabulary, drills, and lots of other cultural and historical information tucked away. if you’re serious about actually learning the language and not just getting through a transaction, you really must have this app. Every time you look up and a word, you can save it to a list and then drill them later to establish the memory of the new word. The only way to really learn new vocabulary is to practice and this dictionary gives you the tools.

WHY ARE THERE ADS WITH SOUNDS. I love this app. I love how much it helps. But dear baby Jesus, WHHHHYYYYYY are there ads with sounds on an app that gives you the option to hear how the word is pronounced? I don’t mind the ads. I understand why there are there. But at the same time, I shouldn’t have to struggle to hear how a word is pronounced just because the advertisement is fighting for dominance. It’s literally the most annoying thing in the world. If they could just have banner ads or ads that give you the option to just mute them, or something else other than the advertisement yelling at me to get a flu shot while I’m trying to conjugate. Other than that, the app itself is awesome.

A powerful tool for learning español. This review is really based mainly on my use of the website, which is wonderfully comprehensive, offering organized, coordinated ways to build vocabulary; complete information about verb conjugation; and a rich library of tutorials on a range of subjects related to grammar and usage. The app seems to have all of the same terrific features – I just am new to the app, whereas I have been using the website for months. Voice-based vocabulary flashcards is one really cool feature of the app that even the website doesn’t have:In sum, I strongly recommend both this app and the website. Also, although I am cheap and held off for many weeks, I finally bit the bullet and bought the premium membership, which is really pretty modestly priced for what you get and incredibly worth it (for me, at least) just in order to have an ad-free experience with these great resources.

Awesome Resource & Very Practical. I’ve been using this app for almost two years and it’s has been a great source of reference for me especially when I need to write something formally in Spanish or refer to a conjugation of a word. My only complaint would be that recently, random ads keep popping up and play videos without me touching the ad. The ads typically appear as a banner which can be clicked, on either the top or bottom of the page, however, I have never seen them in the form of a pop-up that you have to manually exit out of. I am aware that there is an add free version for $2.99/year and I’m willing to make the upgrade, but I would like to be assured that the issue I’ve been recently experiencing with the ads isn’t just a temporary bug. I can tolerate the ads which appear on the bottom and top of the page as banners, but pop up ads are intolerable. Please resolve this issue if it is a bug. I’m expecting a response from the developer so that I may continue to enjoy the features of this app. Thank you!

Wonderful app. I don’t usually review apps. But gosh. This is the best app for translating words. It’s more like a dictionary in the sense it gives you translations word for word instead of a translation for a whole sentence But it has everything at your fingure tips. It even gives you different websites that translated like google etc. so you can compare all of them at the same time to the words or sentence you gave. And gosh I can’t believe how off google translate it for example i had said fluent in my sentence SpanishDict was correct and when I searched the word google gave me, it was the word fluid.. haha.. and It helps you figure out the most accurate way to put a sentence together. Also I love the slow audio option to listen to the word. So you can listen to it better which google does let have and is often to fast to hear the pronunciation. I love this app! So well put together, Well done!!

If every language had an app this good, there'd be a lot more multi-linguals out there.. Just brilliant. Has examples of each word, in different contexts, different meanings/uses. Also has full conjugations for every verb. Very helpful, the site and app were my main resource when I lived in Spain.

Very helpful. Love this app! Works well and is simple to figure out. Does exactly what you would like it to do!

Fantastic app. I'm using this app for my Spanish study and it gives you the best definition with full list of Verb conjugation. Awesome app! Thank you so much for making one :)

A must-have companion for the avid Spanish student. I am studying a Spanish major at university and miss alot of the old styles of teaching that involved drills. While my lecturers teach me the material with lots of reading but very few practice examples, this app makes up for missing drills! This app is great in that it has a fully functional dictionary with all the conjugations in all the tenses. The lessons are great because I get to practice a lot of listening and they test your knowledge in a dynamic (non-monotonous) manner. They also work as an excellent exam study tool as all the topics are well organised on the site and no need to finish preceding topics to access the later ones.

Latest version crashes frequently. The latest version crashes frequently when doing the intermediate vocabulary daily exercise, Today it crashes 5 times in a row, making it quite painful to maintain the streak…

Any chance for a pro version?. Really love the app, but can we have a pro version that is Ad free? I rather pay the pro version to get rid of the Ads. You should still keep the free version, so people can have choice to upgrade or downgrade.

Robs review. This app is great. I don't always remember the words I am learning. I hope in time (and with practice I will get better). I have noticed that the way it sounds sometimes varies from Mexican Spanish to Spanish in Spain... My wife corrects me.

Very good, only missing offline functionality. Very good, only missing offline functionality. Otherwise great.

Great for translating!. I do Spanish at school, and this app makes it easy to translate quickly, and get a lot of information as well. It’s easy access!

The best. I don't need to subscribe to this app because it's free to use, but it's so good I'm prepared to subscribe just to support you guys! It's awesome, and a great friend for learning Spanish! You deserve support! Thank you. 👍🏼

My Spanish lifeline!. I have used this app almost daily as I do my Spanish uni work and even as I applied for a teaching program in Spain where the whole application process was written in Spanish... Thank you spanishdict for making all my español dreams come true!

Brilliant App. An extremely useful app use it all the time, when in Spain and also to communicate with my Spanish friends on social media.

New Version. Hello the new version doesn’t have a summary for my outstanding vocabulary anymore in the home page, pls fix :(

great offline and online. The dictionary works pretty well when you're offline - and that's how I use it most of the time when travelling. When you're online it gets a lot better. It understands the meaning of lots of expressions and translates them.

Easily find answers. Easy to use and gives really helpful answers, including examples of language usage.

Can’t save words. I can’t save anymore words they are saying that there is a problem I don’t know if they need to update it

Good dictionary but annoying that you can’t get rid off ads for good. Great dictionary app. Very easy to use. Only thing is that you can’t buy a permanent removal of the ads, it’s a subscription.

Good on Castilian Spanish. While many US based websites focus on Latin American Spanish only, this website includes pronunciation in Castilian Spanish which is invaluable. There is an excellent quiz feature. In addition, many grammar articles on the confusing aspects, which other websites miss.

Solid features, sometimes crashes. Really good dictionary with great vocab learning. Unfortunately app is a little unstable sometimes and can reset if you exit and come back to it

I would give TEN STARS if i could. Don't have much to say, but you will know why this app deserves a ten-star score after using it.

👌👌👍. Very good and helpful app. I wish it outlined all the different conjugation of each word tho. Pls release an update with this.

Great app. This app is teaching me so much about Spanish now I can do online about Spanish without a teacher I’m going to teach it to my mom and dad this is great and awesome

Easy to use and a great resource. I am using SpanishDict to help with my Spanish lessons. It is great for looking up individual words or whole sentences. The translations are pretty good and the word by word function helps to check meanings and pronunciation of words that are unfamiliar. The grammar resources are great for anyone getting deeper into the language.

Accent and dialects. This app is good but it would be better is you suggested accents and dialects in stead of searching for it, and you only have two or three countries that speak Spanish on it e.g. Mexico and Spain; so maybe ask what country you want to learn as well, that would be great. Other than that this app is very helpful!☺️

Very reliable. Some words it doesn’t have but it can show sentences and different contexts. Honestly a great app

Best Spanish dictionary by far. It's the best Spanish dictionary you can get, and on top of that it's free!! The ads used to bug me a bit but since they ran a few user surveys they've toned the ads down a lot. The app is much like the website, however it doesn't show examples from the corpus like the website does. That doesn't matter much, as the examples provided under the definition are always helpful! This is the only Spanish dictionary I can be bothered with! My only complaint would be that it's almost too good, and there's no online dictionary that compares for the other languages I study. Highly recommended.

great examples. I can happily wander through, using the examples to practice new words. The verb conjugation function is also very convenient.

So useful for learning or traveling. Great translations (verified by my wife who is a native Spanish speaker). Very good sentences examples of alternative uses. Sometimes a simpler sentence would be nice for those of us not ready for detailed conversations but this is a suggestion not a criticism. I use it a lot, not a wanted App like many of my others!

It’s great. It helps me learn Spanish and say words to my family and they don’t know what I say and in the search bar you can search up any word you want. The best part is that it tests you after you learn a new word

Great app, but the new subscription cost is over the top. Love this app, it’s perfect for increasing your vocabulary in Spanish. I highly recommend it! But, the new subscription cost of close to $100 per year is too much. I fortunately got in when it was still under $20 per year. But for any new users, that like me want to support the developer, they might be deterred supporting due to the high cost. Maybe there are additional features that I haven’t come across yet, but if it’s just to remove ads, then maybe a restructure of the cost of subscriptions is necessary. Anyway, I cannot stress how good this app is, seriously give it a go, your Spanish will thank you for it.

Love this app!. Compared to other translation apps, this one stands out! Easy to use and the translations are accurate, even colloquial words and phrases. Each word comes with examples how it is used in sentences. Fantastic! You can build word lists too so you can come back and quiz yourself later on. I really love this app and its helping me very much to improve my spanish.

Extremely useful. This is a great dictionary. The ability to use it offline is great when traveling. The conjugations are fantastic, including highlighting irregular conjugations. The only negative is the advertisements, sometimes they pop up into safari.

Fantastic app. This app is great. What separates it from the others I’ve used is the ease with which you can find verb conjugations.

Perfect learning tool for Spanish Study. I have been using this app for about two weeks now since starting to learn Spanish. I have learnt many other languages, and used many tools, and so I have very particular ideas about how to learn. I like to do a structured course, but the big problem they all have is often not getting enough drills and practice to apply knowledge learned. I often sit down for 30 minutes to an hour each day now with this app, and it is really helping me memorise important vocabulary, as Wellers other areas. For me, I find memorising vocabulary one of the hardest things to do in a new language, but I have been really amazed at how useful this app is in this area. However, that’s only one small part of it - the more I dig into this app, the more information I find on grammar, pronunciation, culture etc etc. It’s an incredibly rich learning experience. To be honest, I think the best approach for me is to do a formal structured course plus using this app. I am finding the combination unbeatable, especially as this app is so affordable for the premium features, especially if you compare it to the cost of Spanish language lessons. It’s an absolute bargain! I have been so impressed that I have not stopped raving about how good it is! Just wonderful.

Definitely worth having. I've only just got it, but it's the best low cost (I chose to pay the small asking price) Spanish dictionary I've used. The example sentences, in the various usage forms, are so useful.

Excellent app. I have been learning Spanish for a few years and this app has been extremely helpful.

No support for iPhone 13 and 12. It’s just so disappointing that after so many updates and this app still doesn’t support the screen resolution on iPhone 12 and 13.

Great for learning! 1 suggestion to get to 5 stars. Love the translations, grammar guides and useful phrases/topics. It’s especially helpful to be able to get all verb translations in One place! The biggest improvement to take this from 4 to 5 stars would be to include the English translation with the verbs in case you’re not familiar with the names of all tenses. Or better yet, quick points on when to use the given verb tense. Even just ‘Iam ____ , I will ____, I would have ____’ could make using the app and learning Spanish much more effective. Thanks!

The best dictionary. This is an amazing, powerful and useful App to find words in English You should try to use!

Best App for Learning Intermediate Spanish. Many Spanish language tools do not provide concise examples of all possible conjugations which is necessary once you pass the beginners level. As an English speaker, familiarity with conjugation is a major challenge but is required for fluency. I find that SpanishDict is one of the most helpful tools to use alongside listening and speaking practice.

The best for learners and experts alike. ¡Spanish Dict! - apart from being very accurate and easy to use, allows for both Spanish speakers & learners, as well a as those from Latin America. All very clear speakers and helps. The best language app I’ve used.

Fantastic. I love the way Spanish dict show the huge range of differnt meanings and uses for a word, and does a great job of distingushing beteen even subtly differnet meanings. M.

Offline magic for assisting with Foreign language on the go. Just magic to be able to access the dictionary offline. Fantastic layout , just like Oxford English Dictionary but better. Gives all possible usages of the word, showing how that word might be used in Spanish (foreign to me) and that sentence translated into English (my native language). Translation function when online also great !

Amazing. Absolutely fantastic platform to help you learn Spanish. The examples are incredible and use a great variety of words in different contexts to give you a complete understanding of how they are used. Much better than duolingo in my opinion as it has better structure and covers grammar etc. LOVE this app ❤️

Fantastic offline & online. I've travelled extensively and this app has always been extremely useful. The daily word keeps your interest high, and the examples + grammatical structure is something I utilise often.

Best dictionary. Best dictionary I have come across. Is a great companion for me as I learn Spanish. The vocabulary lists in here also are a great addition. It’s very comprehensive and easy layout to understand. It also gives suggestions as you type which is great if you are not 100 percent on the spelling.

Useful resource. Easy to use.. I refer to SpanishDict every day as I like to check that what I think I am saying, is what I am saying. I like the conjugation section too. It makes way to quickly find the correct verb form.

Nifty gadget that pays off. A cleverly-made app that is easy to use and extremely helpful for anyone learning Spanish.

It's awesome. I love searching up things to say in general and bamboozle people... and also funny things to call my dog.

Very impressed. I have only just downloaded this app. I'm finding it very useful.

Excellent app!. I love this app and I use it all the time, not just for translation but also in learning how to conjugate verbs. The conjugation tool is a gem!

Love this App!. I love this app! It has helped me learn how to communicate more naturally in depth.

Great app. I find it useful and great entertainment Dm

ONG!😱😍😁😁. I love it cuz I can learn Spanish without my mom and brother knowing!! My dad knows tho, i told him in case I need help. Anyways this app is AWESOME! 😎 BTW I think everyone should hive it five stars like I did! 😆

Serious. This website has saved my standing in the Spanish speaking world. I enjoy it’s style of teaching with native speakers Thanks SpanishDict! I really enjoyed the grammar lesson also.

Great examples!. The sentences they use are current , updated way of speaking.

App crashes non-stop in Voice Quiz mode. Literally it crashes like 5 words in. Very good concept but this crash is a major bug. Will upstar when the prob is fixed. (iOS)

Great Companion. The SpanishDict App is a quick and efficient tool. Sometimes just a word or two can make a message clear. The word of the day is fun accessory to try and incorporate new words in your daily activities.

Fabulous and I recommend. I have been using this about for 2 years and love the variety of tools within. I particularly like making my own vocabularies for use later. The recent changes seem good.

Superb app. Great app, it's there when you need it the most.

Amazing. Absolutely amazing app! Has a dictionary/thesaurus for translating but comes with tons of world lists that can be turned into flash cards in the app. Pronunciation of words broken down syllable by syllable to help understand how to say words properly. Built in vocabulary/grammar lessons with explanations and lots of exercises. Conjugations for all the verbs in each mood/tense. Highly recommend, what more could I possibly want?

Learning spanish. Fantastic! Exactly what I need. Very well presented and complete.

Ultimate learning app. Learning so quickly

Studying Spanish?. That dictionary is a must! I took the premium version to avoid publicity and have access to the extra material. Thanks to the developers. Keep up the good work!

Major Error. Have loved using the app so, been great for learning vocabulary quickly, however doing voice quizzes the app crashes after 3 words. Hope this error can be solved quickly.

Too many popups. This is a handy-dandy dictionary that I can use offline. I like being able to look up words here and there while I’m reading in Spanish. My only complaint is that things keep popping up at me when I’m trying to look up words. This disrupts my concentration when I’m trying to work. If it has to happen once in a while, well ok fine, but it’s way too often and the worst is that so often I can’t get the pop up to close. I keep touching the “X” and nothing. It’s so disruptive and annoying.

A must have for Spansih learners. I use this all the time. Sometime Google translate does give the best translation I can come here to see the words multiple means and get a better pronunciation of the word.

5 Stars. Very Helpful

Spanish dictionary review. This dictionary is complete and user friendly

The best out there. Absolutely fantastic app, super useful between the vocab quizzes, personalized lists, grammar lessons with videos and conjugation. Can’t believe this app is free, it’s way better than Babbel and Duolingo. Thank you, creators!

SPANISH DICTIONARY. Excellent and easy. I love it

Amazing. This app has it all. By far the best spanish learning app. Great for any level and in depth learning. Hands down the best app for learning Spanish.

SpanishDict. Unbelievable app! No need for any textbook!

My favorite of all the apps. I have experimented with 6 different apps. This one gives me the best overview and practice exercises. This is the most like taking a really good college course. Really smart. Great for conjugations, and getting an overview.

Amazing. I can’t believe how amazing this app is and no one talks about it. The lessons are very clear and I love how it has all the grammar explanations and spelling checks. I used to use duolingo but man is duolingo crap compared to this. It reminds me of babble but free! I can’t recommend this app more for english people trying to learn spanish. Esta aplicación es genial. Yo aprendo mucho. Gracias!!

Excellent. I’m a Spanish teacher and I love using it for myself but I also recommend it to my learners. Great resource!

Zitong. Zitong has done many things to my body, please help.

Latin American Spanish. Is my preference

I love it. Very good to keep on

Costa del Sol. It is greatly appreciated to keep in touch with our favourite vacation place through The Olive Press. This Canadian couple enjoys getting away from our cold snowy winters for the sunshine in Benalmadena ES

Great. Great

Great app!. One of the best dictionary apps ever!

Best Spanish learning app. BETTER than Duolingo for Spanish. Nothing more to say, can’t go wrong with this app. My Spanish speaking friends are astonished by my progress in the last 3 months

To gamified. Not everything needs to be duolingo. This has lots of great content that’s getting shoved to make it feel like a game, but it’s not even challenging

Best overall translator, great grammar & vocab. This is hand-down the best way to learn full-sentence translations. Three translating machines give you choices (machines by their nature are never perfect). The dictionary refines definitions, especially if there are multiple meanings. The grammar lessons and the comprehensive verb tense conjugation section are superb. Vocab aids are top-notch. All laid out clearly and simply. I use it daily.

Can’t believe this app is free. I’ve had this app for so long. I wanted to leave a review because the quality of this app is SO GOOD. To the developers, thanks for making language-learning accessible to so many people.

Decent translate app. Positives: 1. Easy to use 2. Free 3. Translates words within the sentence to help you learn 4. Allows dictation Negatives: 1. Cannot use it off-line 2. Word by word breakdown is often wrong.

Pls stop asking me to review. I barely used it so far.. Thanks.

Please fix voice quiz. you need to please add accessibility options. if im driving my car, or doing dishes... please don't stop and ask me if im still there. i just want a quiz. i can grade myself. I dont have the time to sit in front of my phone for 4 hours doing a quiz but i can multitask... the constant checking in when it cant hear you is infuriating. I can grade myself. I dont need the app to tell me if i got it right or not.

Great app. I love this app. It is so helpful in that it provides examples and local usage forms. Well done and thanks you.

It’s nice but always asks you to upgrade. Website doesn’t ask you to upgrade

Wonderful App to learn Spanish. I have tried the subscription Duolingo App and prefer this App for it’s rate of progression and adult approach. Muchísimas gracias!

Keep crashing. Great app but keep crash for every 3 to 5 words. Hope this bug will be fixed soon.

New home page design. I have always loved using this app, even to the extent of buying a subscription. The pleasure from my long period of use was greatly enhanced right from the first use because of the wonderfully minimalist home page design , which was graced with beautiful photos and some basic links to the most useful app functions. Every subsequent use of that home page reenforced the subtle mastery of its design. Sadly, the new home page is nothing even close to an improvement. Its aesthetic is so dreadfully mechanical and overbearing that, ironically, it creates disfunction on steroids, forcing multiple input taps to get to app functions that were previously only a tap away. Not good! Yet the solution to this problem is remarkably straightforward: give users an option in Settings to select which design they prefer. And this should not be a huge problem for the developers, because the coding for both versions has already been done. Will they give us this option? Dare to dream!!!

Solid. Good app interesting extras

The best app to learn spanish. SpanishDict is by far the best app I have come across to use Spanish. I love that it serves multiple purposes: it’s a dictionary/translator, a way to keep track of words you’ve learnt and an excellent resource for learning grammar. I’ve used it in conjunction with Spanish classes over the past year and even after learning from a teacher, I would use the app/website to review grammar lessons I learnt as I find that they are usually better structured and more comprehensive than the ones you would get from a teacher in class. If you can make a reasonable learning path for the order in which you should learn grammatical concepts, this app will get you really far.

Great app easy to use. It is fun learning with this app.

Favourite translator. So many features. A favourite is the pronounciation

Great but…. This app is great, its the gold standard of spanish apps, but the pro version options are terrible. I don’t want to renew my subscription every year. And it’s not cheap. Such a great app ruined by greed.

What’s happening?. Is it just me or has this app crashed?? It’s no longer functioning on either of my devices. The screen freezes.

Unlike most, this won't waste your time. SpanishDict always amazes me for its immense quality. The vast majority of language-learning applications provide incorrect or insufficient information in an inappropriate or ineffective format. SpanishDict does everything right. They avoid one-to-one translations, rather giving contextualized definitions and even indicating if a word is specific to a certain place in the world. This resources is phenomenal for both Spanish-speaking people learning English and English-speaking people learning Spanish. Please, for the love of god, ditch Duolingo. This app puts them to shame.

Best Spanish Translator App!!. I really love this Spanish translator app. I am learning Spanish, and it is incredibly helpful. It does more than just translate. It also shows you conjugations, grammar, context, tenses etc. When you search a word, it tells you how to use it, and in which contexts it is applicable. It also shows you many different words with similar meanings so you can find just what your looking for. It even tells you what words mean regionally. It’s amazing!!! Definitely recommend!!!

Great App if it would stay open. This is my favorite dictionary app I’ve ever used for sure. It’s a great interface and has multiple definitions and even tells you which words are regional variants. It’s very useful for someone learning Spanish like myself. My one gripe with this app, though, is it is extremely unstable. It crashes 50 of the times I open it, and when I’m using the split screen on my iPad while reading, I have to close the app and reopen it every few minutes. It’s a great app, but there’s no excuse for this kind of instability for a package that is updated as often as SpanishDict.

My Life Line in Ecuador!!. Without a doubt the best dictionary AND Spanish educational app. I’m a native English speaker, and I just spent a semester abroad in Ecuador. I lived with a Spanish speaking host family. My Spanish ability was up to a 300 college coursework level when I arrived (if you understand the United States and foreign language… this is not much). Myself and all of the students who lived abroad in the same program lived off of SpanishDict for our dictionary (we tacked it onto Anki for memorization permanency). This app sent me excelling into fluency. Honestly, I would take the lessons and quizzes Spanishdict offers over that other app, “Duo——“ any day of the week! What I used everyday: - offline dictionary ~ with examples and phrases - pre-made vocab quizzes - grammar drills - ESPECIALLY pronunciation for my accent TIP: pair this with Anki and you will be well on your way.

Really helpful. I am learning Spanish and there are times when I don't know what a certain word means and this app makes it easy to just search the word and continue on with whatever I'm doing. There is also a word game feature that is really fun. I like how there is also a phrases tab where I can easily find the translation of useful phrases. Overall the app is amazing and I would strongly recommend it for people who are learning Spanish or for some reason are in need of Spanish translations. It is WAY more useful than Google translate when it comes to homework.

Can't believe this is free. In trying to learn Spanish, I've downloaded dozens of apps, some for translation, some dictionaries, some for conjugation of verbs, etc. Different ones were better than others and I used to switch and swap between them for different purposes. Then I came across this. I've stopped using every other reference app, because this one does everything, and does it well. All you need for free self-directed Spanish learning is Duolingo + SpanishDict (plus some reading material and someone to converse with, of course). For real-time translation in conversation, SayHi is also useful. Kudos to the developers!

Amazing, indispensable resource!. This is an incredibly thorough, well thought out app. The example sentences in English and Spanish for every definition of every word shine a light on all the uses of each word. The conjugation tab for verbs is a powerful app in its own right. Many multi-word phrases are included, which is incredibly helpful. When you run into “de lo que él mismo” you could go mad trying to suss out its meaning by the individual words. “Of it that he same?” From he which he same?” Fortunately “de lo que” is an entry, as is “él mismo,” so I discovered “which he, himself.” The website has additional useful information, such as “imperfect vs preterite” and hundreds of other distinctions. Longer strings are translated using three different external engines. I use SpanishDict every day to learn Spanish. I will use it when traveling as my translation app, as it’s three choices often include one that makes more sense than the others. Fabulous, thank you!

The cornerstone of my Spanish studies. By far the most complete app for studying Spanish.. The best app for studying Spanish period. How is this so? Great interface with countless modules for studying and quizzing. Native pronunciations of words and sentences at the tap of a finger. Different testing methods including speaking, video, and multiple choice. Huge grammar section. Lots of videos and pictures. All with native speakers. This app is more intutive, and comprehensive than Duolingo, or Rosetta. In short, SpanishDict is the fantastic! It is the cornerstone of my studies. Absolutely Essential!

Best resource for verbs and definitions!!!!. I have been using SpanishDict for about four years. I don’t know what I would do without it. I rely on it every single day, and I can’t say enough good about it. The verb conjugations are the absolute best, and I refer to them every day as I’m studying and trying to understand the various verbs and how they are conjugated in the various tenses. Please keep up the good work as you are making a difference for those of us trying to learn the Spanish language. KUDOS to all of you 👏🏻👍🏻. Really LOVE the new vocabulary feature!!!!! Carol D. 🥰

The app sold out and killed its best feature. I’ve used this app for more than a decade and I loved it. Just a simple dictionary lookup that is quick, accurate, and worked super well. Now they finally disabled any functionality without internet. Now you have to pay a subscription. Flying in an airplane / in some remote location in Latin America / in an office building with no service and need to look up one important word? Sorry you’re out of luck. Too bad everything has to be monetized to squeeze every penny out of everyone these days. I recommend carrying a small dictionary or downloading a Spanish / English dictionary pdf onto your phone, which can be searched, now that the authors crippled the functionality of this once excellent app.

Great App, one small problem. I use this app a million times a day, whenever I think of a word I would like to know in Spanish. However, for some reason I am unable to create my own vocabulary list. I select Vocabulary on the menu, and for a split section it shows that I could make a list, and then it disappears and says My Vocabulary and offers a quiz on vocabulary words I’ve reviewed from other people’s lists. There’s a + button on the top right of the screen but it does nothing when I press it. I would really like to make a vocab list!

Love love love it!. I use this app many times in the day, since I am learning Spanish. I can translate full paragraphs no problem. After using it for 6 months, I have only encountered an incorrect translation once. It is so much help and is very easy to use. The only thing I wish it had was explanations. Like for example if I type in 'para' (meaning for) in a sentence, it will say it means 'to' in that particular sentence. Well why does it mean to? That feature would be very helpful. But overall I am in love with the app. 👍

Best for Visual Learner But Think Better Solutions for Others. If you are visual learner I think this could be the best and even if not, this is a good tool. For everyone else, I think others offer a better solution and many do more at their free tier or even at their paid tier cost less. Ella Verbs is much better if you need help for verb conjugation and DeepL has more options included as translator. However, this does much better job for those that are visual learners. If that is you, this is most definitely the one for you over any other tool.

everything you want and need. this app is everything you want and need in a spanish dictionary. i grew up in the US and i’m living in costa rica. i used it the whole time i was learning spanish before i came here and it worked perfectly, and i use it a million times a day anywhere i am in the spanish speaking world and it works perfectly. translations are accurate and SO thorough. you type in an english word like “straight” and it gives you translations of every possible meaning for the word “straight.” for example, directionally straight, “straight” as in honest, heterosexual “straight”, and like three more uses you wouldn’t even think of and they’re all spot on. all the conjugations that they list are accurate and organized in good ways too. the app can also be used off service/wifi so that is amazing when in a foreign country too. yep perfect app and i’m so glad it’s a thing because it helps me so much in costa rica and other countries to which i travel. xoxo

Word to Word-. I stumbled on this app and it was amor/love at first sight! It’s easy to use, has a word of the day feature- which often activates some new energy that I didn’t even know I was missing! The word to word translation provided as English to Spanish, word by word, and in list form with each Spanish word as there are possibly two or three in some cases for conjugation and yeah, it’s great- you may lose yourself in it much like a game or puzzle app. It’s phenomenal and now I’ve even lost myself in this review trying to convey that!! Try it!

Great!. You can use this app if you just need to translate key phrases, but it's also useful if you need a supplemental tool while fully learning the language. It gives you correct conjugations of verbs so I often use it to check myself. My only criticism is that it seems to be missing the informal (tú) commands in the negative. It only provides the affirmative imperative. Everything else is there though and if you know it, it's not a big deal. I also like it tests your vocabulary with the word game, provides common phrases to know, and has a word of the day. LOVE IT.

A useful dictionary and language learning app. I have been using Spanish Dict for a few months and I am happy with it. I am at the beginner to intermediate level for Spanish. The dictionary includes almost all the words and expressions that I have needed and it is organized with easy access to verb conjugations, examples of use, and a thesaurus. So far, I’ve only taken one of the grammar lessons, on the pretérito, but that was quite comprehensive, yet engaging and easy to follow. I recommend this app, if you are at a level similar to me.

Would recommend. I like this app a lot. It won’t single-handedly teach me Spanish, but it becoming a key part of my learning. My favorite part is how I can make custom vocabulary lists. I’m learning Spanish for work, and this feature allows me to focus on what I definitely need to know while I build overall fluency. I currently use the free version, and I’ve found the amount and placement of adds extremely fair. They are mostly shown for five seconds after a single lesson or practice round, with no noise and never taking up the entire screen. Compared to other language learning apps I’ve tried in the past, this is wonderful. There were some things to get used to. After you finish a lesson, the progress doesn’t show immediately in the main lesson page. This tripped me up at first, and I’m hoping this will be updated away. I would also appreciate it if there were more conjugation drill sentences to cover more verbs.

Great learning app, close to perfection. Would’ve given it five stars if it weren’t for the confusing mitch match of vocab words in playlists (for instance, you could be given “all good” to translate, even though there’s multiple versions of said translation and are often included IN the same playlist, making it a guessing game for which definition is correct (often times the pictures don’t help much either.) This can unnecessarily hamper the learning process, but other than that it’s a great learning tool.

Substantial and Effective. I was not sure about the app being useful as a free tool upon download, but it was quickly apparent the app holds nothing back and the ad space is minimal and non-intrusive. The breadth of this dictionary is great and its depth contains the full gamut of language structure surrounding your search, including parts of speech, grammar, sentence examples, and even full phrase translation. I would consider purchasing the full version and would recommend the free version to anyone.

By far the best dictionary. This is a great resource and is my go to app for translating words and sentences in both English and Spanish, I don't know if it's really open source but for the most part it really seems to hit all the corrections my tutor gives me. The one complaint I have is the fact there's no etymology section for words, this would help so much when trying to remember things, especially as English can convert so much back to its Latin roots, if there was this info then it would make connecting certain words or ideas together.

Less useful app. This does a good job of translating simple phrases or single words, but the word of the day portion of the app, which shows up on the home page every day has become totally worthless. It used to be a different relatively common word or phrase each day, which was a good review. Now it has become a different slang word used in any of several Central American or Caribbean countries each day. Random slang words from a variety of countries are not useful for the majority of users. And sometimes, the word or phrase is not even translatable by the app itself! Please go back to the old way.

From a Spanish Teacher. As a Spanish teacher, this is the free app that I recommend all my students use for their translation needs. I very much appreciate the multiple options of translations that are given for each word. As we all know, one word can have multiple meanings, depending on the context. The examples given, help sort through the various options. I also love the built-in lessons, the verb conjugation charts, and the word-of-the-day. Keep up the good work and thank you for providing such a quality product for free!

BEST DICTIONARY!. This dictionary has unique features that genuinely make it the best dictionary ive ever seen. it has organized verb conjugations, european and latin american spanish, detailed descriptions of words, grammatical terms that are super helpful, audio pronunciation, IPA, and more. having IPA is really really helpful and its hard to find IPA transcriptions of words online. i honestly dont care for the actually lessons since i havent tried them but if you want a spanish dictionary, this is nearly perfect. i wish it had a dark theme though.

CatCasa. Easy to use, lets you find words in English-Spanish & Spanish-English, it gives you pronunciation in both, suggests other similar usage & a fun memory game for those of us still a bit rusty in our attempts at learning & speaking Spanish. They also seem to try to keep improving the app. Is there a donation feature? (Like we do for shareware in the computer world? I would...) Showing the use of the word in both languages is the best feature! Showing similar words that could be used instead would be extremely helpful as well as full conjugations.

A stunning way to practice Spanish given the right mindset. It helps me on the go when I'm trying to learn words, which is the only drawback of this app. The only reason for that is because that keeps me from learning words, but when I'm able to sit down and analyze the extensive conjugations and really think about the entomology of words this dictionary like all proves useful in the learning of language. Spanish Dict comes with notifications that would put those who want to speak Spanish into the mindset to practice everyday, and even comes with games that prove to be self-rewarding. Fantastic app.

Awful. It sends you a word of the day, but without a translation or any hint of how to use it. I’ve had this app for a week, and three of the words they’ve sent I then looked up in their dictionary and there was no translation to English. Today’s word was “El mopri.“ There dictionary defines “El“ separately as “the” (duh) and defines “mopri““ as “mopri“. So I go to the web to find out what mopri means and there is no translation anywhere. It does seem to be a common name for restaurants, but that’s not very helpful to somebody learning Spanish, is it?! I’ve had an experience just like this three times. And not had good luck looking up expressions because it tends to translate one word at a time, and it’s really the idioms somebody learning Spanish most needs to be able to find. I have deleted the app.

Almost perfect... but I have a suggestion. I love this app and use it almost daily. I live that it provides so many definitions, examples and conjugations but I wish that when typing in the query box that it would automatically refresh to a blank box. Currently one must first manually delete whatever is in the query box before one can type a new query - which I often forget to do and have to type things in a second time - after clearing the box and losing my train of thought.

Taking off of my phone now.. I have use this app for many years. I love the different ways it translates. This app is amazing until recently. As of now, I will erase it. It is ridiculous that every time i open the app, a ad pops up… and then another one pops up when I type anything in. I understand a few ads maybe here or there because it’s free… but just one ad is really annoying already … never mind add every single time I click on anything. Very very very disappointed. I don’t even make reviews and I came here just to let you guys know that this is completely A waste of my time now. Not even worth the hassle. And noooooo I don’t want to buy your premium. Forget this stinking app.

Surprisingly amazing!. I am an ESL teacher and Spanish interpreter and I have tried every app and program under the sun to perfect my Spanish and this simple app is incredible. Replete with grammar explanations, verb conjugations, subject specific vocabulary lists. My favorite function is that it allows you to create your OWN vocab lists to study. I’m old fashioned enough that I still write my new words in a notebook, but then I don’t review them! Having them on my phone has been a game changer. My only suggestion is that when a word is not available in the database there should be a function to have it added.

not a fan of new update. loved this app forever- I’m not gonna go into the details but it’s definitely 5 star worthy. However, the reason I’m writing this review is because you guys recently took away the “favorite” option which is really irritating. you could have introduced the list feature and kept that one too! It’s a hassle to have to add words I want to remember to a list. I also have to choose just one definition, which is inefficient when I’m trying to learn as many uses as possible!

Need to Fix Bugs on App. This app was great when I first downloaded it but bugs have made it frustrating to use on mobile. One of the best features is creating different lists for vocabulary and pressing the quiz button to test yourself on words that you’ve saved. Unfortunately, that feature on mobile doesn’t work anymore for me and instead my lists have vanished, been replaced by lists I’ve never put together and no longer save new lists correctly on the app. However, when accessing the site on any computer or logging in through Safari I can clearly see my previously made lists mixed in with the strange new ones that appeared. SpanishDict is great but App has its issues

Tengo todo el la amor para Spanishdict. If you are like me who's trying to learn Spanish through Duolingo, or trying to hit up a bella de El Salvador, then this app is perfect for you. I love the fact that it offers different translations from different sources, and it also gives you examples for how a word is used in a sentence. I know this is basic for most dictionaries, but some of the supposed dictionary apps I've tried didn't even offer that much. Not to mention the app doesn't bug out. It's neat and smooth. Five out of five. Much recommended. Gracias!

Consistent translator. I use this translator for my Spanish homework and it has never let me down! I used to use Google translator but it translated word for word and the sentences that it would give did not make sense. I've never experienced this with SpanishDict. It always uses context to give me the most accurate sentence. Of course, I do not suggest that you rely fully on any translator or else you will never really learn the language but, for small words or sentences that you just can't seem to make sense of, SpanishDict is the best translator!

SpanishDict Review. The 3 different choices of Spanish translations for my English counterpart help me understand better & learn more. I also appreciate that I can type in either English or Spanish & it will translate, without changing settings. It helps immensely that it gives examples in many sentences below the definition. But the biggest “bang for the buck” (except it’s already free) is the variety of links it will lead you into to teach grammar skills in different aspects of language. Muchísimas Gracias to SpanishDict!!!

The best Dictionary ever. I love it! Bedside the great explanation of the meanings of words, it also comes with some videos to show you the pronunciation of the vocabulary! Speed control of the pronunciation, optional with the Latin Spanish or the Spain Spanish accents and also meanings, and this dictionary has a grammar faction to help you with the grammar. It’s a multifunction dictionary.l It helps my Spanish speaking a lot and also helps me with understanding of the vocabulary. I don’t usually leave a review for an apps, but this is a outstanding apps that I’ve been using for half year. with no complaint!

please take emojis off of the words of the day. love this app and especially word of the day feature, but ive become so frustrated because the emojis next to the word often dont match, and then since I dont know the spanish word but do know images, i make an association between the soanish word and the emojis, but then when i learn the word, it doesnt match and ive already made an association between the spanish word and an incorrect image. for example todays is cosechar, and there were two emojos, first being a wheat flower, so now i see cosechar and think of wheat which isnt right!!

Best Spanish Dictionary, No Question About It. I've been studying Spanish since I was six years old, that's 44 years ago. I should be better than I am but that's a different story. I've seen a lot of language dictionaries and now language apps over the years. This dictionary is without a doubt the best Spanish dictionary out there. Key things that are great about it: Each entry provides all the different meanings for each word, with clear headings showing each distinct usage, and displayed with enough space that it is easy to identify quickly and easy to read. It gives a sample Spanish sentence and English translation for each of those meanings. They clearly label the part of speech, the gender, and verb information in a multicolor format that is easy to learn and understand. Also, being able to use it offline is great as well, as I'm in Mexico City right now and my phone doesn't always want to pick up wifi here. You can't miss with this one, it's a no-brainer.

SIMPLY THE BEST!!!. I have only been using this app for about 2 weeks and I have added at least 100 useful words and phrases to my working vocabulary. The word of the day always features a complete list of critical alternate uses that may take years to uncover. It is invaluable when you need a quick translation of a word when conversing with a native speaker. This is vital to keeping conversations from dead-ending when you simply do not know the Spanish word for something. Absolutely indispensable for foreign travel and an awesome learning tool for home study. And it's free! Simply the best.

In a word: n Indispensable. I've been using an iPhone for almost 10 years, have used easily hundreds of different apps during that time, and yet this is only the second app review I've written. I'm just not usually inclined to do that. But I downloaded this app a couple weeks ago and it had quickly become one of my most used, and easily one of my most indispensable, apps. I have beginner to intermediate Spanish skills and am working on improving. This app makes it simple and easy to look up an unknown word (in Spanish or English), and even has useful additional information like verb conjugations, sample sentences, and pronunciation. The word of the day feature is a good way to work on my vocabulary too. Basically, it's everything I could ask for in a Spanish-English dictionary app. Best of all, it works without an internet connection, so I can use it while abroad or in remote areas. I honestly can't even think of anything to criticize. Five stars without a doubt.

Excellent Resource. This English-Spanish Dictionary does both English-to-Spanish and Spanish-to-English translation. When looking up a word, it provides multiple examples of usage in the other language, with examples using present tense, past tense and future tense. A key feature for ongoing learning is the Word of the Day. Each day, the user is offered a new word, along with an audio pronunciation of the word, and a list of sentences in both languages that demonstrate the various meanings and usages of the word. This is a powerful resource when learning a new language.

Thorough, educational, convenient. The examples on this app are memorable, varied, and accurate. The word of the day is so useful, especially because it gives you a chance to see if you know the word before viewing the translation. The notification for word of the day is convenient. My only complaint: today's word was párroco. It stated that this was a feminine noun but had "el" in the example. I believe that párroca is the feminine version, but it was not there. Other than that, this app has been awesome. And it's free! So I would 100% recommend.

More than what I expected.. I am using the free version of this app but I think I may upgrade because the features are really helpful and I want to support the developers. The lady that pronounces the Spanish translation is great. If you follow her pronunciations , you really sound Spanish. Also, the user interface is very intuitive. The app also displays the words in sentences so you understand the context. You can even opt in to receive the word of the day which has been keeping me engaged. I do recommend this app - it is muy bueno!

BEST Spanish app ever!!!!. ¡Hola amigos! This app is THE BEST SPANISH APP EVERRRRRR! When I'm online sometimes a Spanish person starts talking to me, so I unlock my phone and translate what they say using.. can u guess? SpanishDict! So, I type in what they say and then the app translates it for me! Then I translate my response from Spanish to English using this app! This is the only app I've given a 5-star review. If there are haters out there, IMMA DAB ON YOU AND YOU GONNA LUV DIS APP!! 😛 But anyways, this app is 110% worth buying. I wish I could give you 20 stars instead of 5. Man... but this is where my review ends. So... ADIOS AMIGOS!!

Best app. I used this app a lot while learning Spanish in college. All resources you need for conjugations and definitions are here. The cons: it doesn’t have a real time translator, which would be faster. However a real time translator like google’s may only translate word for word, and not translate expressions appropriately like this app is capable of doing. If they can find a way to balance the two it’s a win! Also, the word of the day notifications would be way better if the definition popped up on your front screen rather than just the word. Realistically, no1 will enter the app every morning. It will just get annoying.

A few minor quality of life issues preventing me from enjoying. 1. The Spanish to English translator is placed in the same area as the English to Spanish one. Here is how I would fix this: make 3 tabs total. Keep one the way it is and use as default. Make the other two tabs one way translators. 2. The animations are a bit too long for my liking. Transitional animations for things like opening menus and typing are just a few milliseconds too slow. I prefer to have transitions next to instantaneous, so I can continue with my day. This might just be me though. 3. Opening the search bar doesn’t automatically select everything in it. I find myself misspelling words frequently, and having to go back to the search bar to retype. However I find that I identify end up typing a word after the misspelled one. Ex: PasrelPastel. Just make it so that you don’t have to tap the x to clear the search bar. Otherwise, the translations service is amazing.

Losing Favor. For a long time I used Spanish Dict when I needed a word, phrase, etc. verified, but I have swapped to another app in the mast few months for a few reasons. Firstly, the app crashes every now and then. It isn’t every time, but it’s almost always when you need it most. Secondly, if it doesn’t crash, it will sometimes have spam-like pop-ups, etc. I think I’ve noticed before that it has tried downloading things on the desktop version, so I think it may be compromised. Finally, my Spanish professors (I’m a 4th year Spanish major) have always recommended other apps as more accurate (because they’re more closely aligned with the RAE, etc.). This last reason is really the least important factor in my decision to stop using the app, but I think it’s worth mentioning.

Excellent intermediate word-level or grammar review practice... for free. For an intermediate speaker, this is the most rigorously developed and satisfying software I have found for useful vocabulary linked to detailed examples for context. Same with the rules of grammar, which include quizzes and plenty of examples, if you want to go there, which I did. Daily vocabulary quizzes loop intelligently backward to review words I struggled with before. I am for more pleased with the structural musculature and researched clarity of this platform than Duolingo, Rosetta Stone, and a handful of others that I sampled, some of which are quite expensive. Three big thumbs up!

Amazing, easy to use app. The app shows any possible meaning for whatever word you type, as well as providing examples in both English and Spanish to put those meanings in context. You can write entire sentences that will be adjusted to follow grammar rules. It also has lessons so you can start learning Spanish at your own pace. It’s super easy to use and the interface is pleasing to the eye. I’d recommend it to anyone, even if you’ve had difficulty learning languages or aren’t super interested in it
