The best. I wish they would update the EQ plug. It’s not that great and eq is such an important factor. Other than that this my my favorite app

Most stable and user friendly DAW for recording audio in iOS. If you’re unhappy with GarageBand or Audio Evolution give this a try. I haven’t recorded any midi with this but absolutely love it for recording audio on iOS, never crashes or glitches and has ever feature you could need for making quality recordings and nothing more to distract or eat up cpu. Finally found the one for me!

Unbelievable at any price!. Forget the fact that this is a very inexpensive app...It is a full featured DAW for your iOS device. After tinkering with it for a few hours, I upgraded to get 16 total tracks! I was able to mix down and share my song easily and quickly! I recorded all 16 tracks with no latency in my iPad Air 2. I was worried that I’d lose processing power, but that never was an issue. HarmonicDog was quick to answer my inquiry. Here are some tips from them, as well as from my trial and error: 1. Reduce/eliminate latency by opening up this app first, close unused apps. 2. Delete unused sessions as often as possible. 3. If you are using the built in microphone, experiment with which one works best for your project. 4. The FX and Master Busses are incredible! 5. The mixdowns are quick and easy, so don’t be afraid to do multiple versions, since you probably won’t get the effects/EQ perfect on the first take. Great job Harmonic Dog! By far the best app purchase I have ever made! Now I’m contemplating getting something like the Focusrite iTrack to make my iPad the primary method of recording!

ONLY 2 TRACKS. your first purchase gives you 2 tracks to record on, it’s another $5 to upgrade to 8. very annoying

Amazing app. I’ve been using the app for over 10 years and with all the updates over the years this app has really grown into a powerhouse.

User friendly. Basic tools and layout for recording. Everything you need to record a song on your phone. I used this app when I was in highschool on my iPod touch in 2010 to record my first song ever and honestly I didn’t understand anything about recording back then so this app being as easy as it is made it easy to record. And because of that I was always motivated to record because I knew I could just write without worrying about too much. I always recommend this app for mobile recording.

Audio heaven. I am only interested in recording audio. This app allows me to record high quality 24/96 audio with out the distraction of midi/synths etc. I combine this app with the fabfilter combo set for highly flexible sound processing. This is a perfect set up for those that like to record themselves playing instruments and/or vocals.

Still the app I reach for above all other apps. I've been using this application ever since it came out. Don't let the UI fool you! You'll be soo glad no ram is wasted on unnecessary things! Amazed at the optimal performance. Fan of the ease of use. And bar none support in his forum. I'm very thankful for the developers dedication to his craft. Thank you!

Howdy. My friend will send me a song he wrote. I’ll import it on this app and record my vocals. Add FX and back ups and then email it back to him. Sometimes I need all 8 tracks. Very easy to cut copy paste. Had it for 6+ years. Just get it.

Lacking. To start, when you adjust the panning you have no idea what the value is, so if you’re working with multiple tracks it’s an issue. Also there’s no information where a clip is in the time scale. So moving clips around is near impossible. Also when I would hold down an area to get the options, some were halfway off the screen and I have an iPad Pro 12.9” and I couldn’t see what the option is. Also considering where are in the year 2022 the user interface needs a major update. It’s reminds me of a simple free children’s app. Based on all that the rest of the feature are of ‘no value’ to me, no pun intended

Great. Great app. Works just like it’s supposed to. So simple to use. I like using it just BECAUSE it’s a great app and fun to use, even apart from any recording needs! Emails very easy. All VERY intuitive.

DO NOT UPDATE. The update kind of ruined the app for me. The visual and sound quality has both gone declined. The music I made on this app before the update had studio sound quality and the app even looked professional, sadly that isn’t the case anymore :(

Needs Trial or Demo. I took a chance on this app recently after contacting the developer to ask if the app was moving to subscription pricing at any point. He said it was not, which is great for people who purchase the app. Unfortunately, the app is not something I can see myself using much for several reasons. There is no way to export a project as tracks so that you can work on it in another app after recording. I didn’t really like the effects dialogs... the buttons were very fidgety and awkward to adjust and I was continually closing the dlialogs accidentally. There were a few other minor things but these stood out to me. If there was a trial or demo available I probably would not have purchased. Possibly this works to a developer’s advantage, but for me, another ten bucks down the drain on an app.

New update problems. New update: please fix the X to delete the projects, it’s to small that I can’t even delete projects and the audio when you record is the app sounds with less quality now. When I take the audio out everything sounds good but when I record on the app it sounds like somethings covering the mic.

when ableton isnt there.. this is a cool app. it kinda looks like 500 series modules. but its a capable audio recorder for lots of tracks at once. from any sources. when i dont wann use audiobus, aum, or audiocopy/share, its this. fades, comp/eq/limit/efx, editing, sharing, saving. its good for all of it. i wish i could change the colors, i dont like the "dark" style in all these ios apps. or maybe be able to pick from different colors like kqdixie. small beef, because i only am looking at this app once the song is ready to bounce.

Changed my life!. Multitrack DAW was my first DAW! Being discouraged by cost, I never took the initiative to learn how to seriously record. However, once I bought my first iPhone, and then subsequently stumbled upon Harmonicdog’s app, I fell in love with the process! Since, I’ve been constantly learning and growing in the art, and have graduated to using a desktop DAW. It is one of my jobs now, and it’s hard to believe that not that long ago, I was introduced to the process by Multitrack DAW! ps- I still use it ALL THE TIME...

Perfect. I’ve been mindlessly using this thing for a while now, and I just remembered how tough it was to find something in the first place that was this easy to use and powerful. It just works - and works amazingly well. Totally logical/organic feeling workflow. Perfect for recording tracks out of AUM and making final tweaks to the full recording. In short - this is THE DAW for those who just don’t feel like booting up and dealing with a full desktop DAW and want to get to creating and recording ASAP.

Hits Hits and more Hits. Been making magic with this app since 2013. This latest update was much needed. Thanks for everything from Ghost Bandana

Quality Product. I have been using this App for a few years now. The user interface is very user friendly. With this DAW it is easy to record, edit tracks, add effects, mix and export your file. You can import sound files and loops and use with your tracks. The sound quality is great. Also, it is a very stable App. Highly recommended.

It's simple :). Took me 15 minutes to finally realize this app can't record midi notes. It only records actual audio. Sad. I was looking for a daw like garageband, that could record midi data, but with the ability to freeze tracks... Since garageband lacks that very important feature. This isn't it. That said, this app does look freakishly simple to use and honestly it seems much easier to work with. For some reason, garageband always feels like it doesn't really fit in an iPhone screen. I wish this app had midi recording with track locking, but I bet that would be a very complicated feature for the devs, so I don't blame them for not having it. Maybe some day, who knows? But in the mean time I guess I'll reluctantly have to look elsewhere.

Issue with volume on exports. I love this app for recording demoes but the exports are *always* way quieter than the track is when I’m working on it in the program. What gives?? Please respond with help :/

Totally brilliant workflow.. I absolutely love the accessibility the workflow of this app provides. It makes adjustments intuitive and inspiring in the trenchers of stitching parts together, punching in, looping, trimming, etc. It’s that appropriately ‘other’ format that a desktop DAW or multitrack recording hardware unit cannot provide. Definitely the missing piece for me that makes recording and editing productive instead of intimidating and inhibiting. And I like that it’s stripped down to the essentials for that reason. If you want to sauce up your tracks after you can easily export them for post-production or interface with Audiobus.

No Better Mobile DAW than Multitrack. I have been using this app heavily since like 2016. It is perfect for demo-ing. It is also perfectly capable of more professional tracking. With the track add-ons you can get up to 32 tracks. I have used it successfully to do live tracking of my band with maybe 14 or 15 simultaneous tracks with no issues (obviously you will need an interface that has multiple inputs for this). It doesn't have a ton of FX, but the built-in ones are perfect for my needs. The best part of this app, in my opinion, is the simple and intuitive interface. It usually takes me a long time to learn new tracking software, but with this one I was up and running in like 15 minutes...I have plenty of other tracking software apps and desktop programs, and each have certain advantages of their own...but for the most part whenever I start a new project I find myself gravitating to Multitrack. Oh, and one more thing, bouncing down projects and exporting them is a breeze. That is often not the case with other DAW software...in my experience. Anyway...get it.

Still my Favorite App From Day 1.0. Only thing is that it keeps crashing with only 8 tracks, so I’m kinda scared to get the 16. I’m sort of upset I updated. Can’t make perfect better.

Works okay but not as advertised. No reverb, no delay, eq parameters won't adjust, vague menu descriptions. Quick 4 track recording with only level adjustments is fine, the rest is fluff. I gotta stop buying these buying these apps, seems like they never live up to their claims, but what should I expect? This is a phone.

Trusted friend recording platform.. I've got most of the others, but still use this one for nearly all of my tracking. Simple, fast, and easy UI with great sound. Developer continues to update with great effort to keep older devices included. Still works perfectly with my ancient iPad2 after all these years...nearly a decade, now. Wow!

Vastly superior DAW for audio recording. Well worth the purchase price. Best UX by far, simple flow of controls, audio waveform fast and useful, zooming in well implemented, arming tracks simple, nailing cues simple, glad it works with ext audio interfaces. Powerful, distraction-free, solid fundamentals. Very pleased, had this app a while back in 2013 and glad to see it’s still around and better than ever. Thank you!

This is less a review and more of a “Thank You”. This app has enough reviews to tell you that it is awesome - so instead this is to say *Thank You To The Devs* for creating and updating this app for so long. As for the reasoning for the five stars: I’d had this app since the first version and for each iOS device I’ve owned as an alternative or main DAW (whenever things needed more out-of-the-box creativity or when things needed to be paired down to basics). Read the other reviews and conclude for yourself if you need it but I think you won’t regret having it in your toolbox, especially if you just have a iPhone.

Great simple audio only Daw, I don’t get the auv3 part ?. As far as recording audio, if that’s what you’re after and not midi sequencing, this is great....to an extent. If you want to mix in it and not export it to a more professional Daw or desktop Daw should I say for mixing , it’s fine. Personally I think the developers should have added an option to export stems to the files app. That would have taken things to the next level for me personally. What I don’t get is how auv3 support was implemented....at all. I get using audio units effects for mixing....but I don’t get using audio unit instruments with it. You can’t play the majority of audio unit synth or instruments, at least not with a midi controller, and many don’t have onscreen keyboards inside of multitrack Daw. Adding support for audio unit instruments feels like a waste of time the way it’s been implemented, I’d rather just use a Daw where I can actually use them and not just be able to look at them. Exporting stems would have been a lot more useful imo.

Phenomenal. I never write app reviews but felt compelled to praise HarmonicDog for this. It’s the best DAW on the App Store and nothing else comes close. I’ve used it for 4 years and it’s essential to my workflow. It’s the best way to capture ideas and musical impulses. It has every feature you could ever need. Genuinely phenomenal app. Rock on!

Top Shelf! Again I Say! TOP SHELF!. I LOVE THIS APP! Harmonic Dog does it again! New update is really awesome! 32 tracks on an iPhone or iPad is SOOOO COOOL! Look folks how long this app has been around and it’s STILL ALIVE AND WELL! Not a fly by night outfit! If you’re looking for a user FRIENDLY DAW for your iOS device look no further, this is dope! I STILL use this app with great results! I STILL reach for this app! It’s uncomplicated, EZ to use quickly gets me to the task at hand. I’ve NEVER had issues with this app and am stunned at the continued support/maintenance of this app! While updates are few and far between... when the update rolls in it’s MAJOR and well done!! AND amazingly FREE updates! That’s a huge win cuz I HATE SUBSCRIPTION services! Thank you Harmonic Dog YOU ARE AWESOME!!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Another great update! Now with looping until you "got it right" option! New device support too! This is one my favorite apps! Even tho I have more "complicated" more expensive DAWs for iPad, this is the one I always goto! There's just enough bells and whistles to get a very good multitrack recording (depending on your device) and if you include it in the audio chain of AudioBus you're pretty much good to go until "mastering" The devs keep supporting this app which I'm very grateful!! This is app is Top Shelf! Thanks Harmonic Dog for your continued support of such a great user friendly app!

Good for acoustic demos. I use the app for making quick and easy multitrack demos with acoustic guitar, voice, piano, and percussion. Since I’m usually using the built in iPhone mic, the results are far from studio quality. But they are pretty good for sketching out songs ideas and playing them for my band mates, family, or friends. The edit tools are basic and the effects are limited. But again, if you have a quick musical idea you want to sketch out without spending time setting up a more elaborate interface and accessories, this is very good option. I’ve been very happy.

Very solid recording app. Product is exactly what it markets itself to be. It’s a high quality multitrack recorder with a very nice amount of extras including compression, reverb, eq, and direct input from other music apps. The only thing I wish was improved would be the ability to switch to the phone’s internal mics instead of the headphone mic. Outstanding app, longtime best in its class.

The best. This is simply the best and most consistently intuitive best did I say best recording software for the phone or iPad I've ever found. I've loved it for several years. Did I say it's the best?

Never crashed!. Rock solid and simple to use with great (but very) features. If you just want to record stuff and edit it, this is for you. Years and years later it still working great. Thank you for keeping this software life.

Amazing drawing board!. This app is amazing! The features on it are amazing and simple to use. Vary practice way to put ideas together and to share collaborate! Amazing job harmonic dog!

Please fix the bus issue with other musical apps. First of all I absolutely love this app. I have used for I think at least six years. Got it when it first came out and love it I will change my review to 5 stars if you could please fix the bus bug. Updated last night and can no longer hear other musical apps with input Monitor selected? Please fix!

Perfect!. Perfectly working the way it should! ✌️

My view. This app was a game changer for me as an evolving musician!!! Even Considering that I am basically computer illiterate, I would say this app is very user friendly. This app has helped me grow as I experience the recording process from the perspective of each instrument in a band.. Easy to start recording and learn tons of tricks as you go. Very useful tool for writing and recording original music. Only complaint I have had in the years I have enjoyed this app is that the latest update (5?) messed up the sound on All previous recordings. Everything sounds like it’s in a tin can now. I have not yet tried to record new material since update.. so no opinion as of now.

Multitrack DAW. There is something about this DAW that just works. I own several major iOS DAWS but the simplicity and reliability of this app sometimes seems better or more useful than the other big named apps. Sure this DAW doesn’t have near as many features but for what it does, it does it well and that what I like about it. An app that runs smooth, without many crashes and works pretty good with IAA.

Solid audio editor. I am a musician and I use my phone for music production. This program is part of my workflow, and has never let me down. I use it to create and mixdown my electronic songs. It is easy to use, lots of features, has never crashed on me, and the developer is friendly and responsive. I am impressed.

D.A.W. multi track recorder. Absolutely awesome muli track recorder!!!! Changed my studio life completely!!!! 5+ stars for sure!!!!

Awesome!. This is so far, one of the best multi tracking recorders I've tried on my IPhone! Let's see what it's future brings and how stable it remains! Hats off to the builder! Suggest you bring in some verbs, delays!

Still the best. This is one of maybe four app reviews I’ve felt compelled to write. But seriously this app makes most other multitrack apps I’ve tried look like toys. I’ve been using it for years now and it doesn’t glitch, crash, or stutter. Sound quality is great and it’s surprisingly easy to navigate for all its relatively advanced features. I’m still amazed at how well it was originally designed and it’s only been improved since then. Excellent!

The best kind of developer!. Pay once, receive great free upgrades for life! The app keeps getting better. Absolutely no complaints. This developer knows what they are doing. I use this app to record a secondary mix of my band as a backup to our primary DAW on the computer. Works great.

Nothing touches it.. Can’t imagine the time spent ironing out this interface and ease. Hands down best multi-track recorded available. I recorded an entire song in an hour on this thing. Love it, love it.

Update 5.0. Don’t update! (This is solely based on opinion and is not meant to discourage). The layout of the new update is so dark and looks less professional than the previous version. Buttons are harder to see and the whole thing looks cheesy. I un-did the update for my phones. Of course aesthetics is opinion based and some may like the new layout. I personally do not, however, I LOVE the app. If you don’t care how it looks I totally recommend purchasing it! I think the app works great and does everything it is meant to do. I have written countless numbers of songs and still use the app today I just prefer how it looked before the update. The 3 star rating is based on the way it looks, I would give it 5 stars for how it operates!

Confused and need help!. Not sure if I’m just dumb but it seems that trying to plug in a headset that comes with a mic automatically changes the input to the headset with no capability of switching back to the mic on your phone. If that’s the case that’s quite disappointing. Willing to update my review if I can get some help!

Audio Units Yay!. I was just looking at this app yesterday, hoping they would update, and add audio units. The next day my dreams are answered! It's just a simple and effective daw!

Really, really, good.. Love this app, I have recorded several full length albums using it over the past few years. This is the basic nuts and bolts of multitrack recording. User friendly and extremely smooth and well designed, just plain good. Compressor, reverb eq and delay all work just how you want them to. Only thing I could ask for would be volume automation and a looping tool. Nevertheless, beyond five stars, keep up the good work! But seriously, volume automation!

Drop Box. Looks like a great App. Looks like its missing Dropbox integration. Would love to open files from dropbox and export also. This would be a great thing to add.

Awesome app, but needs update.. This is a great app for laying down, mixing, editing and sharing your music. It's comprehensive, well thought out and easy to use. It needs an update though. If you're using an iPhone 5s, you WON'T be able to share or upload your tracks in the much smaller and practical m4a format. Something to do with the way the 5s encodes the files. Anything earlier than the 5s is fine with this, though. Please devs, give us an update so us 5s users can again share our work!

Rubbish. Kept crashing. Can't even add an external file..

I brought this so I could get 16 tracks instead of 8..... I suggest u make the 16 track available.. Because ive been lookin but can't find it...

Best damn ukulele warfare record bar eva. We been bang uke's with meth and whiskey shine from bak when we lost craigly to them Tucker's on the next hill. We got some good toons now but and tmrw we goes up there to get what left our craigly. He gonna be sore. But nuffin our moma canno handle.

Great App. I really love this app. It's simple to use yet powerful. It would be nice to have a few more in app purchases like extra effects etc.

Great App!. Seems to work well on the iphone4... Easy to use, decent record quality... Having a couple'a issues with individual track volume though, other than that... highly recommended.

Everything you need. You can get amazing results with this app. After the app update with EQ, reverb, delay and compressor added, I've been ecstatically happy with it. You're not going to be able to do everything you can do with proper PC or Mac software, but you still have plenty of things at your disposal. A word of advice to users, eliminate noise (hiss) from your recordings by turning the input gain level right down and get in close to the mic - I get great acoustic guitar results by fixing my iPhone to the guitar with blu-tac (mic immediately next to the tone-hole for fingerpicking, and mic facing the bridge low on the body for heavy strumming). Enjoy the app!

Love it. This app rocks seriously what it can do with a iPhone mic and CPU is just awesome we'll done on a cracker of an app , I use it all the time to record mix down and share my songs, cheers on an excellent job

Very good. I'm no pro, but it seems to have everything you'd want as a bedroom recorder: compression, reverb, metronome, etc. Controls seem to make sense too. I'm pretty impressed.

Great. A great app. Does what it says on the box. Easy to use. Extremely reliable. I have a few feature requests - for which I would be willing to pay more (in-app purchase) as app is already well worth the money.

Great App!. Awesome app, i could waffle on for ages but you gotta just buy and try it, it's worth the coin. Developer, a wish list item would be the ability to change track order, not a biggie but would be convenient. Definitely no complaints though. Oh and keep those upgrades comin!

A bit confusing. It was confusing for me at first but you might get the hang of it. Bit of a rip off too

The recording App I would write. If I could design an app for ease of recording and the quality, affordability and functionality I would demand, this app is it. Easily worth the money. Super stable and full of features I actually use.

Not bad. Wish there was a way to upload tracks from iTunes

Really good App. I found this app really good as I am a singer, songwriter who plays acoustic guitar, it's perfect and a cheap way to record and upload your songs as you can directly upload it to Soundcloud.

Simple, elegant, hassle free. This is so intuitive it took me seconds to get to grips with the essentials. A fantastic design 👏

Good app with fantastic potential. This is a very stable application - more so than some of the competition. The interface is easy to figure out and doesn't get in the way. As it stands it is quite good with all the functions to create good multi-track recordings - and the developer actually listens to his users (check out the forum).

Portable ideas studio in your palm. A great app, works smoothly with iphone4, very user friendly no instructions needed, good mic recording, realtime 24 tracks. Have worked in music industry for many years and sold four track devices since tape days. Selling large recording set ups through to handheld recorders this is a top app for on the road or late night ideas when not wanting to set up all the studio gear. Needs a few modulation effects,reverb/chorus a compressor a few loops/drums pads would be awesome.. and i think worth the $ already spent. As a song writer i have a few ideas locked away already from late night sessions using internal mic and my martin..sounds crisp and clean. Very happy with this app! good job...effects!!!

Pretty good. I really like app, it's the best priced recording software in the store at the moment. It's great for getting ideas down while using the built in mic. All it needs is some simple effects. Reverb, compression, and perhaps an equalizer. I love it how you can live monitor what the microphone is hearing, while recording. If we could throw in some effects like reverb it would make the app so much better.

Rock solid - 16 tracks in your pocket!. The latest update seemed to cause major playback issues on my 3GS with ios5.1.1 when I first updated. However, a reboot fixed everything. This is a wonderful example of a well thought out, rock solid multitrack audio recorder. I am a professional sound engineer with quarter of a century of experience and this app is about as close as you can get to having a MSR16 (16 track tape machine) in your pocket..... without the expense of buying reels of tape every time you want another half hour of recording! The interface is clean, uncluttered and intuitive with no bloated bells and whistles to get in the way of useability and reliability and, unlike other iPhone multitrack apps, this one really does sync properly with each track perfectly in sync with the previous tracks. If you're looking for fancy gimmicks and bells and whistles, this is not the app for you. If you ARE looking for something that really can be treated as a professional 16 track tape replacement recorder in your pocket, this IS the app to buy. Wifi transfer of files to and from PC is flawless too which makes location recording and later mixing of the recording in your studio a complete reality. There are a few minor things this app could benefit from. However, I am still giving it five stars because the developer has mentioned that many of the requested features will be added in the next update. Speaking of the developer, as the previous reviewer has already stated, check out their user forum and you will see that user feedback and suggestions are a high priority and this developer DOES listen and reply in a courteous and genuine manner. Well done on a truly useful, professional audio recording tool!

Quality.. Good quality, simple to use. MIDI clock would be aces.

Good stuff!. I really like it for what it is. Perfect for doing little demos, but can later it up heaps due to the amount of tracks you can add. Editing etc is fine once you get the hang of it. One improvement would be volume and sample control on the click track. You can control all the other volumes to make it appear louder, but I'm a bit of a stickler for correct gain flow.

❤ this app - works brilliantly!. Everything works perfectly! All 8 Tracks. I like that I can choose to upgrade a further bunch of tracks. Please consider the following updates: * when importing to the bins using a computer - please allow for multiple file selection - doing one by one is death by mouse! * With the Master volume - please have numbers displayed on the volume so we can see what the decibels are - comes in handy when adding a mastering compressor. * Ummm.. Oh Yeah - how about being able to save presets such as: Track 01 - Bass preset with compressor and my settings of eq etc... Track 02 - Piano Left (therefore paned already pre-panned left) etc... Hope this helps - looking forward to the next updates. chat soon.

Love it. Powerful, easy to use multitrack recorder.. Would be better if you could import voice recorder files from the native iPhone app and files sent to you by email

No stereo record with imic. All was going fine and I could record stereo with the iMic now it just refuses! And yep I've every combination of shutting things down replugging in starting again...you name it, it won't record stereo, or if it dose it's after 20 mins of playing around, I just wants to record stereo on my iPad. :(

Awesome App. Great App for multitrack recording backed by excellent customer service! Well done!

Fantastic app. Clean, uncluttered interface belies its power. Less is more. Try it- you won't be disappointed!

Very good app, needs a metronome. I would highly recommend this app for recording ideas and demos. Some suggestions would be adding a metronome, and adding google drive support. Thanks developers for a great app.

No longer compatible. Please contact Alesis and request that they upkeep their drivers for their Pro Track adapter that plugs into the iPod and allows for 2 xlr or 2 1/4 inputs - mono/stereo input - phantom power - limiter - gain volumes - on board mics - led level meters. It was working with the iPod 4 and this app but since the last update it no longer works. The iPod does not even acknowledge that it is plugged in. I have contacted Alesis and they said that only iPods up to 2nd gen were supported. They may appeal to my request but u suspect with more requests from other users hey would be more willing to go forth with the updates. If you haven't tried or seen the Pro Track adapter for the iPod check it out on their site. There aren't many interfaces like it.

Clean interface, TONS of power. Incredible program! So much functionality and so very many features. This app started out already being my Goto app for multitrack mixing on iOS... Now, as the devs have tirelessly been upgrading the capabilities, this thing is an absolute MONSTER. Tough to find any fault at all with this one. Wish I could give it 6 stars

Good app, simple, some limits though. Seeing as ive made lots of records in many different studios over the last 35 years ( from 2" analogue tape days to present day high end digital boards and Various DAWs ) i know at least a little about recording guitars, drums, bands and stuff so if your into pro level recording here's my 2 cents on my ipad 4. First off, yes you can record high end pro quality on an ipad as long as you have a quality 24 bit digital audio interface and common sense. If you have these then the skies the limit and don't let anyone tell you any different. Of course the real big boy studio is still the best ( 2" tape rules ) and if you can afford it you should do it ( but its expensive like a ferrari and when the record company pays, actually you pay so remember this ). Anyhow, the reality is It always comes down to the persons ability and experience ( everyone has a pen and paper at home but very few will ever write a novel or draw like rembrandt ). All in all i would say it will never be 100% as good as the best studios but in most cases 95% will do. With that in mind this Ios App is very well executed and simple. For general use I highly recommend this app as it is more than capable of producing acceptable multitrack recording of useable quality. I also like how you can play it over airplay on your stereo via apple tv if your audio interface is elsewhere ( but keep in mind only a stereo mix can play this way because multichannel out is to much info and will cut out / drop etc) . For much higher level of recording abilities and look familiarity i highly recommend the AURIA app in stead. Its a far more professional styled app and meant for serious recording. Of course I have both and if you record music on an ipad so should you. Basically if you know next to nothing about multitrack audio the this app will be perfect for most users and if you are experienced in the recording studio already then Auria is definitely the way to go. As an aside, -the Audio copy / paste standard need to be updated to 24 bits as it tunicates everything to 16 bit at present. -Audiobus is a welcome and overdue addition to IOS. ( To bad Apple didn't think of it).

Garbage. I wish i can get my money back

Great App.... I have used this app to its fullest. It needs some mixdown effects, simple things to warm things up a little like reverb, flange, delay etc... other than that it is a fantastic tool to get my pre production / new song arrangements and ideas into place where ever i might be. Well worth the money. I would pay more for additional effect upgrades, lets hope DAW does so in the near future.

Update. In future update a button to duplicate would be nice and also the implementation on animation for effects and so on, a filter would be nice also. A limiter on master also. LOVE app. Keep up the good works and updates. Also Cubase release a IOS app. Something for you to look at.

No longer accessible. What happened? The app used to work and now I can’t even open much less use it with other apps. Absolutely useless now

Thankyou-please!. Thanx for the fx and master bus. Please automate the faders and fx. This is still a beautiful thing! Also, it would be perfect if there was midi core integration for timecode syncing.

MDAW. Love it! Super user friendly, crystal clear recordings, soundcloud integration. Within in minutes I recorded my first demo with this app, couldn't be happier.... No more forgotten song ideas or guitar melodies this guy. I'd love to see some built in effects, reverb, delay, chorus etc... And split function and fade in out would be helpful. Thanks for a solid DAW app!!

First impressions. I am really impressed by the quality I get with the built in mics of my IPhone 3GS! I just laid my phone on a table near my Fender 65 Princeton and hit record (I was up and running in no time), recording over an uploaded Jam Track. The result is very satisfying. Looping is SO easy: It will be very easy to jam over some chord changes and just groove with this porta studio!

When a developer includes "More Cowbells" in the App Description You HAVE to BUY!. The "more cowbells" marketing lure instantly pulled me in and I wasn't let down. This app is some serious hardcore DAW considering I have it running on an iphone and ipad its almost unbelievable how feature packed it is - Now, obviously it can't replace my Sonar 8.5 Producer running on a i7 Win7 - but it sure as heck can turn your iphone or ipad into a mobile studio for banging out demos and song ideas before you take it to the "lab". Also, plz make all future update free. I will be showing this app off and surely getting my associates to purchase it for themselves. One of the few apps you will regret not purchasing sooner thinking $10 is alot, considering the crap apps out there for $10 this app will not leave you burned. I will add there are some features to be desired; if those are met Im sure this will be a must have

glitch. solve that GLITCH with Audioshare! Unusable.

switch the icon back!. still an awesome app, but not stoked on the blue icon! looked waaay better before!

Fantastic foundation, needs additional features. Incredible interface with ease of use. I'm very happy to have the updated features, however this ap still needs eq adjustments per track and some effects. I'm looking forward to the next updates for this ap!

Great start. This is a great starting app but what it really needs is a better way to get audio from other apps into it. Just a simple audio import from email attachment , or import audio from other audio programs. Maybe even iTunes. Also volume automation is key! Please include that in the next version as well as a master track, or master fader channel. I would love to be able to use this as a real daw while on road. Keep up the good work.

10 out of 5 stars. Best money ever spent on my iPhone since my iPhone itself. Easier to use than any desktop daw and when I throw my beats by dre on just as good monitoring too. Practically real time but software driven. The GUI is intuitive and precise not like other music apps. For the 10 dollars I expected a lot less but I what I ended up with was an real recording suite. I have found the only multitrack daw I will need to purchase as the updates are frequent and the dev team is always there. The ability to actually import iPod songs is a must for anyone laying down freestyles on your favorite instrumentals and if you get a few headphone splitters you can even get battles and cyphers down. It's essential for any hip hop artist. The input options are amazing and if you use any you will end up with some quality tracks. Even the built in mic is amazing when using this app. I use this with apps like rhthymn studio to import my patters or full songs to really get a song going.

Fantastic. This is an app that you can quickly start to lay down ideas with, but after a while you will really appreciate how much power this app has. This is forcing me to study Audio engineering again to unlock more than just recording tracks and to truly produce great sounding music on your phone.

Totally inaccessible with voiceover. This app is totally inaccessible with voiceover

Solid foundation needs updates. Great interface w perfect sync on all 16 tracks. Hopefully this is just the preliminary foundation because although this app works smoothly it lacks some key features for recording. We need the ability to cut paste and loop duplicate portions of our tracks.a mixdown feature would be nice. I still can't figure out how to transfer my songs to my Pc. Solid foundation that could be great w a few free updates. I would recommend this.

I like it!. Amazing! The fact that you can multitrack on an iPod is simply incredable. This program is a lot of fun.

I really like this app. It works very very well with rare issues. I like the interface a lot. Its one of those apps that always works, so if I need a quick recording that’s more complicated than a simple one track thing, I use this old reliable. It seems as if it has been around since the beginning of time.

Best available. Hands down the best multitrack app out there. Continuously updates free of charge.

Works for me. I love using this app to record my practice sessions with elastic drums as well as song ideas. It's intuitive, which means capturing ideas is quick. The controls are different from, but are nearly as friendly as using a standalone multitrack machine. Routing from other apps is straightforward. My only wish is that there needs to be a double-tap to zero levels/centre pan on all faders and knobs. It really kills the momentum when you have to carefully readjust the knobs just to reach zero. Any decent physical multitrack/mixer has some kind of notch for quick level reset. Also, the transport features are pretty weak if you need to jump around a long project. Otherwise, it's extremely solid at what it's meant to do. Get this app for your iOS recording toolbox.

Well done. Excellent app - very well designed. Thank you.

Where's The ECHO's!!!!!!!. only if there were Echo's for voice recording or distortion on effects but this app is not rip-off

Rad. This app is seriously rad.

The Best. 5/5 The best app out there!!!

Awesome. Really smooth and works great, looking forward to new update which allows track importing from iTunes

Great on iPad. This app is great on iPad although a little confusing at first Unfortunatly, the app does not work on the ipod touch 4th gen

Very good app. Very good

Really great!. This app is simple, fun and intuitive. Really showcases what can be done on a iPad. Using just a set of headphones to monitor while recording other tracks with the ipads built-in mic, you can quickly create some great sounding multi track songs. Not a professional tool but a great personal multi-tracker for experimentation. Works as advertised and I had my support questions answered the same day.

Awesome!!. My #1 Audiobus DAW! Much gratitude!! Cardinal Dreams on SoundCloud. 🎸

Exceptional App!. After researching many of the other DAW apps for the iphone, this is the best one. I previously had 4 track but believe this one is far superior. In my research I have concluded that many apps bragg about being a complete DAW, non of them are so once you get your expectations realistic then consider using this app. I am the member of a songwriting duo. For me, my cowriter can send me an instrument track and ask me to lay down some melody ideas or guitar ideas for it. This app lets me import the instrument track, lay down various vcl and guitar tracks, and then quickly email the ideas to him all using this app. My favorite features are: - import and export of files - interface is genius. I feel like I am using sonar. - you can name your tracks! Yes this seems basic but 4track did not allow me to do it. - seeing the wave forms and being able to move them around to sync up all the other parts that I end up importing. - reliability (too often this is overlookced by most purchasers). Even if you don't buy this app. Buy one that doesn't crash. - my songwriting partner has a usb hand held recording to store his ideas but he can't even name the files and moving to a particular part of a track (say to listen to a chorus part I wrote to see if he likes it) involves holding down a fast foward button. THis app makes his usb recorder obsolete. Normally I don't bother with writing reviews but this app is so good, I want to continue to see it succeed and evolve. For the musician that gets inspired, and wants to record pretty good demo versions of music without the interface, or booting up computers getting in the way, this app is ideal.

The Daw that set the standard.. I use this Daw to track on because the input source for some reason is the cleanest and clearest of all my recording apps. Some app sound muddy when connecting directly with your live mic source requiring some EQ just to be able to stand listening to the tracking but not Multitrack Daw. The input is crisp, high gain and no noise capturing crisp sonically pleasing recording. Everyone needs this app no matter what app you use. Canadian Music Producer Cheers ~~_/)~~~

You need to buy this app!. My iPads space is pretty much dedicated to this app. Easy to use, great interface. How do I throw more money at you?? If you guys could figure out a way to send the EQ settings from one track to another, I would gladly pay for a feature like that. I spend a ridiculous amount of time dialing in the same EQ settings for multiple guitar tracks. The compression meter a much needed feature and I'm already making much use out of it. Thank you! Solid app!! (thanks for keeping the updates IPad 1 friendly)

Practical. I really like this app for its ability to send recordings directly to iMovie. I'm still learning how to use the mixers but it shouldn't be difficult. All in all, one of my favourites.

Great reliable no frills daw. If you want the basics done right then look no further. This is a solid daw with a very small footprint which leaves your precious storage for your creations. The UI design makes this one of the few daws that really does feel comfortable to use on both iPad and iPhone. Issues are very few and it always feels responsive even with all the tracks maxed out. Hats off to the developer for this true workhorse daw. I use it almost every day and hope to do so for years to come.

Still the best simple multitrack DAW for iOS.. It just works. Which brings me to this…ahem…revelation: What works great on a desktop application does not always do so well in a mobile format. The developer is extremely intelligent and knowledgeable about audio and about design problems inherent in the world of iPhones and iPads. I have always gone back to this for pure audio tracking (and streaming of iOS instruments to audio…seriously learn how to play, and let go of parts that you PRACTICE instead of all that boring midi note shuffling and quantization…do that obsessive crap on a desktop, where it is tenable) on my iOS devices. It gets out of my way and records beautifully. The addition of AUv3 plugin support takes it to the top of the heap, and now, The developer has introduced something I always wished for: track volume handle automation. It is brilliantly and SIMPLY implemented, along with several other new, USEFUL ENHANCEMENTS (not an ostentatious display of desktop DAW reverence, but genuinely intended for iOS usability and functionality) Still simple, still beautiful, and now as close to perfect as I need on my iPad.❤️Get it for doing real music production work on a mobile device.

Excellent!!. Like I said above excellent! So easy to use which saves so much time!!

Great app!. Easy recording.....used iRig to plug my electric and got a good quality sound except I wish you can add effects like compressor/noise reduction to get rid of hiiiiiisssssss sound. Mixdown is also great and fast. Also please add ability to add fade-ins and fade-outs..or ability to add points on the waveform to modify volume.

$10 well spent. This app is amazing... perfect for recording on the go, sharing tracks and collaborating with other people that have it...

Nice update, but.... Pros: - beautiful interface - tracks sync perfectly - timely updates Cons - Bug: with with headphones on, close one song then open another and you have to unplug and replug your headphones. - No effects (chorus, delay, reverb etc as seen on the VocaLive app) *** I'd buy these as in app purchases, or take them for free :) ***

good app. I like this app, its the only multi track we have for Ipad as far as i know. I would like to see a build in eq, reverb and compressor. Add autotune and some fun plugins and a base to share peoples songs and youll be surprised how well this app will sell.

Love It!. I've tried them all. This is by far the best multitrack out for iOS. Love it!

Very good. One of my preferred apps. Update ; still my preferred apps for recording audio tracks for choirs. The punch in and out are a must for correcting tracks.

Best of the bunch. Quite a capable DAW. Very useful and more practical than the other options. I had an issue with the app crashing at launch but it turned out that it was a problem with an outdated mobilesubstrate.

Please add effects. This is a swell app for the price. I agree with other reviews that it needs effects (reverb, etc.). Also, i would appreciate a metronome track because my timing isn't awesome.

Multitrack DAW. I have been using this awesome app since initial release, and it just keeps on getting better. The new bus fx and master fx rock! This app is truly a slick pocket multitracker for musicians, and makes my guitar music recording a pleasure. My iPhone has gone to the moon and back, because of Multitrack DAW .. Thank You!

Exceptional!. This app. Is worth every penny of the 9.99 that it costs. Simple to use. Operation is intuitive and what may not be readily apparent is easily figured out through the built in help (a rarity in many apps.)! I like the feature of being able to adjust track volume and master volume input during recording. I recorded my friend's rock band using one track with the usb Snowball mic. from Blue microphones and the app. automatically switched from mono to stereo on my chosen track. The sound quality is well defined in all ranges. (the Snowball had a lot to do with the definition). Effects are all there for mixing and work well. I give this app. a five star.

Simple tools work best. This app does multitrack recording with no fuss, no muss. Looks good on iPad. The touch-hold access to context menu is great. I like that you can add Pan. Recommended unless you want serious, in-depth capability, in which you should use your computer and a full DAW. Minor nits: The Play button (triangle) should change to a double-bar Pause when playing, as is standard elsewhere. Would like to be able to import an instrumental track (e.g. a song to riff on) easily. My mixdown was created (as AAC) then I couldn't find it anywhere - confusing, but not a deal breaker.

I'll never use GarageBand again.. I downloaded this app for one purpose, and that's to use it to import an MP3 into GarageBand. After 15 minutes I decided not to bother and I'll use this app from here on out for my recordings. I had two giant issues with GB. for IPad. 1. When you minimize the app the recording stops, so you can't open notepad for instance to refer to lyrics. 2. You can't import an MP3 into GB unless it's in your ITunes library. MultiTrack DAW doesn't have either of these drawbacks. The sound is better through the onboard mic than it is with GB and it's extremely user friendly. I figured out everything I needed to know in 15 minutes with no frustration at all. The only advantage I could find with GB is the loops, but as a rule I don't use them anyway. If you're looking for an easy, cheap way to record down and dirty demos this is the app. I love it!

Best App Ever. Best app for me. Thank You very much!!!

My jaw has dropped!. This app is amazing! Wish I could shake the creator's hand. I'm glad I diddnt try to go cheap and get one of those $5 recording apps with mixed reviews. I upload instrumentals with no problem (dnt have to worry about 4mat converting and all that junk), and it records on time! It's sooo annoying when ur recordings are a split second off. You can zoom in to like the nano second and edit minute details. It's also annoying to want to move something but u can only have it here or half a second to the right when the perfect spot is somewhere in between! They have a wonderful user interface. When I first got the app I was completely lost for about 45 seconds. The iPhone has a small surface area for a job like making songs but they make good use of space. Lastly, I love the fact that I can play a beat, have it start and stop recording at predetermined markers, LEAVE THE APP to go to my "notes" (where my lyrics are), and record! I still haven't picked up my jaw. I'm super happy with my purchase but if you added some more sound effects and maybe some cool presets of those effects I would jump 4 joy!

Radio Station Imaging on MT on Ipad. I really like the Multitrack DAW on my Ipad. I did some Radio Station Imaging on it and had a lot of fun doing so. I would love to cut my workflow in half though. Nothing wrong necessarily, because i know there's room to grow. Just thought I'd drop a few suggestions. 1. I would love it if there were "volume" adjustments to each element independent of the track volume. Or even the option to write the volume desired. 2. More of a variety of different types of fades. 3. Maybe, 1 or 2 more options of "importing/uploading" all elements. The wi-fi is cool, but you can only upload 1 element at a time. I would like to put a lot more stuff on the wi-fi. In addition, it would be cool you could use the wi-fi anywhere. 4. Is there an option for recording from an internet source? News, entertainment. I don't even know if that's possible. But, to be able to extract soundbytes for production use off the internet would be great. 5. To be able to move elements not only horizontally, but vertically also across the region/tracks. 6. Maybe, a more detailed "EQ", "Compression", and "Processing".

Cruddy. Won’t import ANY file. Waste of time and money. Complete and total failure. Epic garbage.

Amazing app, unbelievable tech support. I can't say enough about this app. It's easy to get sound in, and easy to get finished songs out. Even though I was a total novice, it took me only a couple of hours to figure out how to make a song from start to finish. The ability to monitor finished tracks while recording new ones is critical, and there's even a metronome option so you can keep everything together. Another big plus is that the developer is incredible with support. Visit the harmonicdog forums and see for yourself! Easily the best app on my iPad.

Not fun to work with. The bad: 1.Song doesn't play in sync with the loop selection if you drag the selection further while it's playing, it instead will play the selection that was previously there until it passes the loop one or two times. 2. It's easy to accidentally flick the screen and have your loop selection disappear 3. Transferring a project to another devices is tedious and requires you to download it from app as zip file then drag to iTunes and unzip it in app. Bluetooth transfer would be great here. 4. Adding an input via Audiobus with the app running makes apps pop and crackle (at least iMS20). Instead multitrack has to be killed in the background then selected in Audiobus output, which creates a new song in multitrack. This makes tons of redundant new projects. 5. Recording is just not fun with this. Trust me. Would love to see it kinda like ableton's recording function. Where you can just use undo after loop recording in a few bars and get perfect loops of all the riffs you played The good: 1. Easy to use with Apogee Jam and sounds excellent 2. Works with both iPad and iPhone, no need to buy an iPad version or iPhone version.

Great app !!!. I mistakenly lowered my original review after the update because i thought one of the features had been deleted but i was mistaken. Its a great app once you get the hang of it , and the maker is a good guy who responds to questions or concerns very promptly ! Thanks for being patient with me , great app ! PS i noticed when i use this app on a first gen iphone it wont work or sound correct unless i use an irig adaptor and mess with the settings a bit then it works great , i dont think it is designed to work on the model although i could be wrong , but with the irig adaptor it works great !

Hell no. I paid for this app and then it’s says this app is No longer in the app store that’s bs

Most stable Daw in the store!. 24 Tracks of consistent RELIABLE music creation! I have used this app with iPhone 3GS 4S IPAD1st generation & now IPAD4th generation, & this is the only app that works FULLY STABLE with Audiobus, I have Auria, & Meteor also but MULTITRACK DAW hands down has the most efficient & seamless workflow, the others either crash, or have so many layers of operation you'll be fiddling around for hours, Kudos to these guys, they've created an app that actually does what you expect it to do!.. I've stopped in the middle of my workflow just to write this review, because of the aggravation of recording in the others, Good Job developers! Back to the music.

So simple, so perfect. Of course we all want Ableton on our iOS devices, but until some dev genius marries audio/midi/time-stretching/etc in an iPhone app, I am quite content using this little gem as an audio whiteboard of sorts to work out my songs. Of course I'd like more effects to make my vocal experiments sound ...less like me. But there's the best reverb and delay ive yet heard on an iPhone, at least. And the whole app is just completely intuitive, fun even. For now this is more of a practice app, which for me has become an essential part of how i write music these days. But I feel confident that as my iPhone gets more and more processing ability, this app will grow and soon I'll be using it for commercial releases. This dev is smart though, he's not adding bells and whistles before their time and crippling the flow like some other audio apps. Each update is a thoughtful and workable progression, and for that reason alone I can see this being a tool I use for many years to come.

Is this abandoned?. No updates and can’t work on latest iOS 12

Good basic DAW for tracking, not composing. This is a basic audio only DAW that also supports IAA instruments and effects. It has good sound and is very stable. There is no track automation but one can trim and fade in and out clips. You can import audio or record straight in. There are a few on board essential effects and EQ which work nicely. This DAW will work best with tracking performance takes for a song, but not for moving around sections or clips for composition since there is no area select. You have to click every clip individually to select and if you miss one they all get unselected. Moving small clips requires zooming in to grab them otherwise the trim and fade controls get in the way. I was doing a sound design project with this app, but it got too tedious trying to move sections of clips and small individual clips, so I moved the project to another DAW. With area select this all would have been much easier. This is a standard way of working in similar types of applications, so not having it seriously limits usability. Also I am not favorable to dragging from the pop up box to select my tool. One tap to open a window and another to select is a standard that works more easily. It's not a big issue but it would save on finger duress.

Amazing Studio. Even better on iPad.. I got this App for iPhone a while ago & was simply blown away by the features & incredible ease-of-use. I did plenty of research & cross-comparisons with other Apps. I suspected this to be the best one, & so far I haven't proven myself wrong. I had a few nit-picky concerns with certain gestures, but they have been fixed in recent updates & I no longer have any complaints whatsoever. This App is fantastic! I *LOVE* how intuitive the controls are. I use it to lay down some rhythm tracks & compose leads, melodies, complements, etc. Recently I've been using it to record parts of my bands' practices & it sounds surprisingly good considering it's in the loud room with us! Thanks for making this App "+" for iPhone/iPad, devs! One final note: GarageBand says that if the sound clips (is too loud & overpowers the device causing distortion), to play more quietly. Really!?! I never heard of a quiet garage band, myself. GarageBand doesn't feature an Input Volume adjustment, which seems a very bad choice. My point is that GarageBand is not an App for serious instrument-playing musicians, while MultiTrack DAW most certainly is.

First time I ever liked a DAW. Never much cared for DAW's, always way too complicated for an old schooler like me. I am a plug n play kinda guy (I own 2 prehistoric Akai DPS16 workstations), but this recorder is a dream......it's plug n play, all I asked for and with a bit of tweaking and the right accessories I am making music again. I had some questions in the beginning, the email replies came really quickly to address my issues (kudos). I couldn't be happier and am on my way to get another itunes card to purchase the upgrade to 24 tracks. For me it's perfect - what you put in is what you get out of this recorder. If you want more than that go elsewhere, personally there is great satisfaction in not being fooled by sonic trickery ie. Pitch correction and such Sure it would be cool to have a little light reverb and delay but I can wait and in the meantime I can actually work on the things I want to embellish later on. This is a great app.......I am pleased beyond my highest hopes

The best out there.. The selectable input feature is amazing. When using the iPad and the USB camera adapter, it works flawlessly when selecting additional input sources. This and the input monitoring are 2 of my favorite features of the app. Although I would love the mute and solo buttons to work while monitoring inputs, as it seems to make no difference right now. I happen to like the hot box pop up menu. It helps keeps the UI clean with a just what you need, utilitarian approach. I agree that buttons/graphics could look a little slicker (Meteor looks good), but I will take function over appearance any day and this is a solid app. I appreciate the dev's approach to sewing in functionality, which is what makes this app great. Compared to FourTrack when using on the iPhone this is much better for working out pre-production types of tasks, or as a general scratch pad for ideas as you can edit the .wav files and move them to different tracks. The fx sound great, (great sounding verb) I hope the standard for audio processing quality stays high as new ones are added. The sharing features also work great which is a must on an idevice. All in all a very useful app.

I wish I could give it 10 stars!. I am an audio engineer/musician and I have downloaded nearly EVERY daw app for the iPhone. No joke. This application goes above and beyond what one could have thought was possible on a portable device. There is no latency when recording tracks (even with 8 tracks playing together), the audio quality is superb, and the interface is intuitive and slick. Put simply this is hands down the greatest multi track application in the app store. From playhead snapping, to punch markers to even a freaking iTunes import, this application does everything that is advertised and executes it flawlessly. A MUST BUY FOR EVERY MUSICIAN WITH AN IPHONE 4. One suggestion... Maybe some effects in the future? Maybe a final mix eq?

Blows Fourtrack away. I just picked this up so I haven't had too much time with it, but it is without a doubt the best multitrack app in the app store. The ease of use and capabilities of this thing have actually inspired me to write just to play with this. Now anytime an idea strikes that initial spark will be captured instead of it being diluted while waiting to record it proper. The developer hosts a forum and is always soliciting new ideas and implements them rather quickly. You can't ask for more than that. If you are a musician/songwriter you owe it to yourself to pick this up, it's worth every penny. They say the best camera you have is the one that's with you and the same can be said here. I now have protools in my pocket!

My go-to. As a trumpet player, I need something simple, easy and fast to set up and use. This totally fits the bill. I can multi-track practice sessions, duets, orchestral excerpts to practice section and lead playing with great ease. It has everything I need and nothing I don't. Sound quality is fantastic, sharing to the desktop is easy enough. With and external mic (Apogee's MiC is great), quality is outstanding. As a teacher, I use it to record my groups and use Bluetooth to playback through my sound system for immediate feedback to the kids and listen myself to plan our next rehearsals. I'd like to see a bit more elegant interface, but this took no time to learn.

Please add full mouse support!. The app is great! But I hope the developer will add full mouse support soon!

Latency issue. There's always a lag in the when I record. I'm using the XS Max

Best recording app. I was looking for an app that works with 24-bit audio. This is the one. I record with an apogee jam or apogee mic direct into the iPad with this app. I can do some basic editing on the app, but I wait until I get home on my computer to do major editing. It's very easy to get audio files to and from this app through the wifi transfer. Inter app audio solves any issues of not enough plugins, but I think it's best to do the real editing on Logic Pro or similar. Use this to lay the studio quality tracks down when not conveniently at a studio. Also, GarageBand doesn't allow 24-bit audio, but many interfaces do. Don't let software be the limiting factor when making a $5 decision.

Amazing and easy to use.. This app is outstanding and very easy to use. The sound quality is amazing and I have no problem transferring my projects to other daws. And you cannot beat the customer service. I had a question with one of the features and emailed the developer. He promptly responded and after working with me for several days, was able to resolve the problem I was having. He was very patient and helpful. If you are looking for a ridiculously simple way to track your music, this is the app for you. You will not be disappointed...well worth the money.

NOW !! I can produce away from my computer. With the advent of AUDIO BUS, I can now produce professional 24-track multitrack projects away from my computer (16 stereo tracks for an additional $7.99 is worth the price). I highly recommend this app. This app has excellent editing features for loop, slice, copy, paste, and drag. High quality 24bit-48K recording is possible in preferences. Works great on iPhone 4S and iPad 2. As far as issues/complaints with AUDIO BUS, you only need this app to be your output. You can load all other AudioBUS capable apps as Inputs and FX one at a time. Make sure you close all apps you are not using, after they have been removed from the AUDIO BUS input platform.

Horribly non-intuitive.. Archaic mouse pointer desktop design. Ugh! Can’t even find how to remove a track.

Superb Multitrack Recorder. I love this app. What it is meant to do, it does perfectly -- allows one to record up to 24 mono or stereo tracks with exceptional quality and easily mix the result. Easily export each track as uncompressed audio files for import into desktop DAW, or share the full mix over the usual services. It supports AudioBus and IAA, a small number of basic but nice sounding effects, and is written by a highly competent and responsive developer. This year's update fixes the few glaring bugs that were made known via the forums, and adds useful touches like color-coding and re-arranging tracks. If you don’t need MIDI support within the DAW, there is no better multitrack recorder for iOS.

This is what a Recorder is Supposed to do!. I've used multitrack recorders on my PC for years at home (Fruityloops and N-track studio) and this app does more than any app available: There's multiple ways to record tracks (lots of music apps that don't look like they are compatible to copy and paste into MTD work quite easily) Tracks sound super-clean and mix with other track very well. Fairly easy to upload and download from your home computer via WiFi, and several great effects built in! If you're one of those people that love to play your Iphone Piano and would like to hear it with Drums or whatever, this is the Best way to get that done.

👍👍. Absolutely fantastic!!

Worked after removing old copy/paste from ram. I felt it only fair to change my initial response and raise my ratings a bit. I found the apparent reason behind my inability to open the help menu, even while it was the only running app and I was not even recording. This program crashed every time I tried to open its help menu because another audio program used Sonoma audio copy/paste and filled up my ram memory. Another app audio share allowed me to free up ram by deleting the audio copies I no longer needed and then this app was able to open its help menu, also this daw ran much smoother. I want to say DAW was really good with its ability to record very weak sounds and amplifying the sound while filtering unwanted noise, so it actually performed like a super high gain microphone and it worked VERY well with headphones and internal mic. Reverb chorus parametric eq. All worked well and no crashes once I used audio share app to free up ram memory. So yes daw isn't prettiest app, but it does what it said and did it well.

Decent App, some improvements needed. *Updated review - nice to see a few of my suggestions implemented in the latest update, however, my first concern (below) was not addressed. The pop-up 'hotbox' menu has to go. You should not have to hold your finger on the screen and rotate it to use a menu - on ANY app. Graphics are 20 years old - hire a graphic designer to bring the look up to date. (Previous review below) Overall this is a decent recording App. I would like to see the developer make some improvements in the UI and perhaps add some editing features: 1) The "Hotbox"-menu interface is not very ergonomic. Most of the time, my finger is covering up a menu item when it pops up, forcing me to maneuver my finger around the screen. I would rather see a straightforward menu system that stays open when a finger is released, implementing a 'close' button to close the menu. In fact, implementing a 'close' button, I see nothing wrong with making the function menu full-screen. In addition, there should be menu functions on the main project screen (import/export, upload/download, etc.). 2) FTP upload. I would like to see the function of a custom user-FTP upload/download option for transferring tracks over 3G to any FTP site. 3) More editing features such as: user-adjustable fades (in/out); normalize, EQ, compression/limiting, etc. In short, the ability to create finished, polished mixes. Nice job, but let's see if the developer can make this App a bit more 'pro'.

Easy to Use and Great Sound. When I first started using MultitrackDAW I wasn't exactly sure how it all worked, though much was obvious and intuitive. To my surprise the manual was a quick and easy read and made me an instant expert. Other DAWs boast about their advanced features but this one is intuitive to work with once you learn the basic command to tap and hold, which brings up a menu--then just slide to the option you want. The sound quality is impeccable. I spent a lot of money on a couple of other DAW apps but I have exclusively used this one--it's so easy. The Audiobus and IAA implementations are advanced. It has automatically supported every audio interface I have plugged into my iPhone and iPad, and I've tried several. The only thing I wish it had was MIDI sync with other apps and devices. I've been able to make do by putting count-in notes on the tracks, so I've been able to line-up every track accurately, especially thanks to the snap feature. The snap feature is powerful. By setting Multitrack DAW to the same tempo as the audio, clips can be sized precisely--perfect for creating loops to use in other apps.

Great little multitrack app, doesn't crash like the others. This was the 3rd multitrack app I bought for the iPhone, and is the best by far. Doesn't crash like the other ones, and 16-track capability means you can create more than just sketches and demos. Easy to record, pan, mute, solo using only the built-in iPhone mic. Uploading recorded tracks to PC via WiFi is very easy, as is uploading pre-recorded tracks into Multitrack (such as click tracks, etc). In all, very exciting to be able to record a 16-track song that sounds decent without cables, pre-amps or software crashes. Features are still somewhat skeletal, but I'm giving this 5 stars based on the creator's responsiveness and plans for the future (metronome, effects, etc). He seems to be very active on his software forum, and has some great ideas for future releases. I think this will become THE app for serious iPhone multi-trackers.

Best multitrack so far for direct input & scratch pad. My purpose was to find a sketch pad to record instruments and vocals for ideas. Wanted it simple, fast, easy. Found this app and like it. Provides good interface with popup faders and dials as a solution to having a lot on the screen yet having to control with fingers on a flat screen with limited space. Had a liitle trouble with controlling the dials hence 4/5 stars. Tried with iZX and Jam and internal mic. Latter 2 work great but iZX had way too much crosstalk. Unlike TEAC app you can monitor input which is critical if you are directly inputing an electric guitar or bass. Love the click track and ability to set it a variety of ways. Effects work great. Documentation highlights best practices - good idea to read it so you know if you are taxing the iOS with your methods.

I keep coming back to Multitrack. I have a few other multi-tracking recording apps so I know my way around, but I keep coming back to this one. It feels like the designers actually created it for fingers on a tablet. While other apps have more features, they're kinda noodley since they cram everything in there (MIDI instruments, etc). The result is an convoluted interface. Multitrack on the other hand, is a pleasure to use. Straightforward, stable, and excellent for multitrack field recording. Export via Wifi to your home system and you're ready to edit in depth. It's been nearly a year since the last update, so I hope it doesn't become abandonware, but so far so good in ios10.

every time I think it's missing something.... there've been so many times when I'm using this app that I think to myself "I wish it had… " only find out that it has something better. Example: I have a bunch of projects on my phone and I'm running out of space. I needed a way to export the full files, mix downs, and bin info. I had used the Soundcloud and email options but that's a lot to go through for this many files. Turns out there's an option to download all of that stuff directly to any computer via the "Wi-Fi" option that I've ignored this whole time. You type in your phone's local ip and you can see every song/project in your browser and download things various ways. you can apparently upload files from your computer to the phone in the same browser, though I've never used that. Ridiculously useful. The only two features I wish were added is the ability to manage files via the Wi-Fi connection (rename files, delete, reorder), and select multiple projects files for "batch" download. good work, app people.

A perfect mobile DAW!. I've been using this app for years, and have yet to have a problem. The interface and graphics are clean, no frills, and very simple to understand. Recording songs is dead easy, as well as adding effects and processing. Inter-app audio also works beautifully, allowing simple integration of my various synthesizer and emulator apps. 24 tracks (with the upgrade) is definitely worth the price. Can't think of much more I would want or expect, other than maybe a few more options for effects/processing. Anyway, thanks Harmonicdog for the best mobile DAW available!

Intuitive and functional!. Love this app. I am using it with an IK Multimedia iRig Duo Pro. It is super easy, intuitive, and everything I need for recording on an iPhone 5. It uses space and memory smartly, without gobbling either, and has been the first app of its kind that I have found to be neither glitchy nor crashy. I am sure that there are fancier apps out there, but if I wanted something that was fancy and cumbersome, I would use my laptop, not my phone. I am a musician, not an engineering geek! And the files can be exported and geeked out on later, anyway. This is wonderful for field recording, songwriting, and on-the-go creation. My only gripe is that some parts of the app described in the help menu do not seem to work as they say they do - this is a little frustrating. And I wish there were a way to effectively merge a choppy track (I do a lot of punches) into a whole track easily. But these do not hold me back. Some of my favorite features are the wifi sharing option (type in the given IP address on your computer and there are all the files - organized! Awesome!) and the ease of recording over errors (I haven't got the hang of the "punch in" command, but just arm the track, play the song until the place I want to splice a fix, and hit the record button at the place I want to redo - it's easy). This has not gone as smoothly in other fancier apps, but works well here. Very much appreciate this extremely useful musical tool. Mahalo!

Not good for iPad but great for iPhone. I had originally bought this app for my iPad and found that the way it handles the audio input with the internal mic is awful. While it has the controls for adjusting the audio input it dosent actually control the microphone. It just lowers the audio so if you are playing an acustic guitar for instance and you want to make sure your levels are at a level you won't get any clipping it simply does not work. I put the input levels at 2-4 and it all sounded the same. Clipped and distorted. Now that said, I installed on my iPhone and it works amazingly well. I,m not sure if it is a hardware or software issue with the iPad but whatever it is it is really only suitable to be used with the iPhone. Hopefully they will figure it out for the iPad because it is a very cool application.

Exactly what I was looking for.. This is exactly what I was looking for. A simple, stable, easy to use multitrack. The UI is perfect. I use this mainly as an audio sketchbook to rough out song ideas. Using the iPhone/iPad internal mic, i can quickly bang out a rhythm, then lay down a bass line, then add all the rest on top of that. In less than 15 minutes i can have a pretty good sketch of a song. I used to try and do this same premise on my home computer with my full recording gear, but I was always fussing with sounds and equipment and never getting to the actual work. This strips all that away and just lets the ideas flow, while i'm sitting on the couch, front porch, at work, wherever the inspiration hits. I love that it works on both the iPad and the iPhone. I can work on my iPad at home, transfer the package over wifi to my iPhone, and pick up right where i left off, wherever i go. Incredibly simple and effective. The sound from the internal mic is good enough for roughing out ideas, and i like not having to carry anything but my device and my guitar. I would like to try out other input options like the Blue Mikey, but any real recording or production is done on my computer. My only con is that the looping and trimming is difficult to get precise. Maybe that's just me and my shaky fingers. Online support forum is great and the developer is really in touch with the customers and their comments. Best app ever. Thanks to the Dev!

Impressive! I'm so glad I bought it! My favorite iPad app. This program is so brilliant. The programmer is a genius and obviously uses it because it's so intuitive and well thought out. I'm still really learning how to use the effects and editing tracks but the basics are very easy to get down. It makes my music practice 10 times more fun because I listen with headphones on as I practice and with the reverb on it makes me sound like I'm in a huge cathedral. It's awesome. I can record professional sounding tracks with this. I only wish the metronome had a visual mode where it showed a light bouncing back and forth, and also that when you add a new track, you could copy the effect settings you have set for the other tracks in the song. Maybe there already is a way to do that. For $10 this is most definite worth it.

Very Pleased. I did not know exactly what to expect for the reasonably priced $10 app. Reading the review. Brought promise and it seemed that almost all who purchased this app seemed very pleased with the purchased. So I took the dive. After diving in to the app and slowly learning more how it functions I am more than impressed with its capability, functions, recording quality, ability to export all the files separately or as a whole mix. The capabilities of the app itself blew me away completely. It functions and responses cleanly and I have enjoy working with it and uncovering all it's possibilities. I would absolutely recommend this app for anyone looking for a good quality multi-tracker for this smart phone. The only reason why I did not give this five stars is because I, and I could be wrong, I haven't seen attention from the creator on the app itself. It would be awesome to see their response to reviews and update and keep the app a strong a power tool that it is. I have high respect and appreciate for the development of a truly great tool for musicians and enthusiasts in the smart and hope to see this app continue improving its capabilities. Even a .99¢ or if possible .25/.50¢ upgrade would be ok with me. Overall, great work Harmonicdog, love the app!

This one works. I tried numerous DAWs for the iPad and the difference between them and this app is that this one actually works. Here is what works: First, it is fast and doesn't sputter and drop audio when you are recording multiple tracks simultaneously. Second, it can connect to your other apps via IAA or AudioBus. Other apps claim to do this: this one actually does it. Third, it can export to multiple formats and then you can do further edits on a PC or Mac with a free application like Audacity. And fourth, it was cheaper. The GUI of this app is simple at first glance but hidden behind this simplicity is a lot of capability. Kudos to development team, you guys really did a great job.

Brad. Re-review.... As per my last review of this app I figured out how to email a Garageband track, and then open the attachment with this app, and then copy and paste it onto a track within the app. This is a great feature, but it does take some time to process each step so patience is a virtue. However, I still am not hearing any difference in the audio signal when compression is applied, and reverb seems to be almost all or nothing. If the developers could enhance the quality of the built in effects, or allow some third party iOS vst packs this would be great. As it stands right now though, I would still prefer emailing out of Garageband and using my laptop for mixing with Sonar. Not expecting the effects in this app to compete with Sonar, but a majority of the time all I need is some slight delay (chorus effect would be a great addition) for vocal tracks, solid reverb (and compression) for drum tracks, and some overall compression.

Old Dude. Excellent and simple. Love it

Bluetooth Connectivity Issues with AirPods. Really struggling (only recently) with getting the AirPods to show up as an output option. Have deleted AirPods then re-added. Restarted phone. Help?!

Excellent. Have all the fancy DAWS on iOS but really like this one. Clean and efficient

Simply deep. I gravitated to this app on a whim, and could not imagine being more pleased. While the interface may take some getting used to for a few, it has been a fantastic experience for me. It does not matter wether i am learning a new song, sketching a new idea, location recording a live event, or sitting on the side of a mountain with an iPad(or iPhone), and whatever instruments at hand... Multitrack DAW has not let me down. I originally thought that my iPad would only be replacing my control surface on my studio computer. The quality of work i have been able to produce using this app on an iPad, or iPhone has been a pleasant surprise to me, and a downright shock to many that have heard what i have done "with my phone!?!". While I personally would like to see phase/polarity reverse per track implemented at some point, and some work done on volume/pan automation, this app does it's job nicely for me. Update 7/5/12 After an apple update bug, I experienced some great support at the developers forum. I was back up and running crazy fast. Thank you. Still my go-to recording app.

Wow. Totally unexpected update to make it usable in 2019. Thanks for the hard work!

Awesome!. Hey Guys, The new update as of today... includes built in reverb and delay... it's AMAZING! As far as I'm concerned... Done and game over! My wish list is now complete. For a pocket multi-track recorder, hands down this is the simply the best. I'm an acoustic musician using this as a tool for arranging, harmonies, scratchpad, etc... Yes I could go on and on with more desires, but why? Considering all this does in your phone... it's awesome. I come from a Protools background and have worked in multiple studio spaces. DAW is now complete by my standards for my needs. Once I start jones-ing for a bigger screen etc... my wish list restarts. But I have to say, I stop right here with the new update and am thrilled with what can be done. Excellent work! We are extremely fortunate to have a developer who really pours his heart and soul into this app, responds to folks immediately, is open minded, and teaches us the challenge of engineering solutions yet makes it work. Thanks Harmonic Dog... truly a useful tool and I love having this in my pocket. Feature rich and inspiration loaded. Congratulations! I love it!

Amazing Stable Old School New Update!. See title! Buy the app.
