Vital Tool for any Professional. Superb.. I've had this app for several years, it's an amazing tool to have. No more giant storage for all the biz cards, take a picture and everything uploads, no wasting time to enter anything. Superb.

Serious bug. This app some serious bug. It has deleted some of my contacts! Vector to replicate the issue Have a contact with a specific string ie “xyz” now scan a card where the string is in either name filed or company field. The older contact data gets wiped out. I have seen this in 3 cases.

Great App with hard to find features. One of the great features is the ability to see where the ODR is reading from. As an example, it reads the phone number and puts in what the OCR thinks it is. When you click within the phone field a small window of the image displays the exact character it is "reading" as a 9 (or whatever).

Contact list.. It is not working well with my new iPhone 10. It will not put the info in my contacts list when completely edited. This was one of my favorite Apps. Not after losing several contacts, only to find the were in the app., but wouldn’t transfer to the contact list.

Best card reader i have found. I have tried a few different one and this is the best one i have found, It does mess up once in a while but not bad at all. Thank you to the developers

Scanner not working properly. One card will scan fairly well (not great) and the next two will produce garbage text. This version seems broken to me. Disappointing because the Salesforce integration worked well.

Work seamlessly. I have it for over 2 yrs . I love it not only capture the info of the card and also show to me and allow me to make changes in case the scanning info is incorrect which is inevitable as scanning technology is not perfect yet Plus also saved the copy of the card in its app Great idea !

Great at first now worthless. This app worked great for about 30 days. Now I take picture of business card and letters making no sense show up filling up the fields with worthless info. Get it and input all your info immediately otherwise it will be worthless in about a month.

Terrible. Several years back it was great! For the past several years the half dozen times I’ve tried using the capture card feature it doesn’t work at all! Capture the picture then scans like always but then when it show contact there’s no numbers no name just some gibberish crap in a few of the space where name number and things like that should be! Not sure how something that worked so well at one time could be so bad now!

Solid. My favorite business card reader. The cloud service and Salesforce integration are particularly useful! Well done.

Timesaver!. Not perfect, but is quite a timesaver. Open the app, take a photo of the card, review with minimal editing/correction, save it - you’re done! Surprisingly able to handle a wide variety of different b-card formats and make them work!

Poor results. After reading fairly good reviews, I downloaded app and have been using often. It is VERY hit and miss. I often (1 out of every 3) get gibberish in all or most fields - and more often, I’m manually correcting at least one field. I can’t figure out why… Sometimes it’s over cellular, sometimes it’s when connected to Wi-Fi. And doesn’t seem tied To whether bus. card are white paperstock, traditional formats or more creative in layout. Other times it works like a charm. But if you’re looking to frequently and put cards as I am, having to manually enter 1 of every 3 is neither impressive nor useful.

Not working?. iOS 11.2 iPad Pro 10.5 200gigs of free space Took picture, scanned it wonderfully, even showed me how it will be entered into contacts, unfortunately... never appeared in my contacts when I went in to check immediately after, still still not there, 20minutes after. What’s up?

Not working in iOS 12. Sorry, but this really needs to work in iOS 12 . I look forward to an upcoming update as I typically like this product.

iOS 12 Crash. Any similar app that can read the format bcr pro uses ? I’m willing to pay for a new version if they fix this and make the integration features work better.

Nice App. Just what I needed, I have been using it for a few years now. Very convenient, a great time saver!

Latest update has bugs.. I’ve always love this app. It was accurate and quick. That is up until the last update. Now it’s started with multiple pictures. Crazy symbols inserted. I find myself have to correct and manually insert information. I just don’t understand why these updates go backwards. It was great. Leave it alone.

Great app. Works great and OCR works very well for me most of the time. I wish they would release new version that can take back of the card pics since more cards now have info on back too.

Not Perfect. But what is. Have the Pro version for several years. All upgrades occurred without incident and without me knowing it. New phones were never an issue. It will accurately scan and decipher most cards (maybe 80%). Cards that are colorful with exotic fonts or unconventional in some form or fashion will not scan properly. Loved the app until now. Recently something has changed that has given me reason to research alternative products. When I scan a card it will place it into my contacts (IPhone/Outlook). Within seconds that contact will be on my main server and I can see it in MS Outlook on my PC. At least it used too. Now, it will scan and place it in my IPhone contacts and I can access when composing a new email or text however it will not upload(sync) with my server. If I manually create a contact on my phone it will sync with my server. If I create a contact on my PC it will sync with my phone. Only contacts created with BCR will not sync. What changed? This issue is now a deal breaker and renders this app essentially useless to me. If I didn’t need to sync with a PC then I would give it 5 stars.

iOS 12 killed program. Since ios 12 BCR PRO opens flickers the disappears. Program is running in background but cannot access

Doesn’t work. The app no longer works with the latest iOS update. It crashes immediately when trying to open.

Great App. One of only a few apps I Use on A daily basis. Not perfect but very very good.

Useful but.... This apps is well worth it, but it can be improved in terms of functionalities with Evernote... Anyway well done and looking forward to further developments!

Great app. It uploads business cards - don't know about the frills but the app accurately imports info from business card

Only One That Works. Unfortunately I paid for all the rest before I finally found this one that works. It's accurate and has a nice looking interface. Worth the $

Simple and working. Ive been using it for two years. To me its simple and does the job every time.

Find something else.. One of the reasons I got this app was because it could automatically import into my iOS contacts. It can’t even come close! I scanned dozens of cards and it didn’t even scan 1 correctly!! Stay away from this app.

Problem with IOS12. App will not open. Immediately crashes

Problem with IOS 11.1. Worked great until upgraded to 11.1. still scans but will not change orientation and us flacky saving cards.

Partially accurate. For almost every card I scan, there's at least 1 change that needs to be made (usually more), often changing i and 9 to j. The accuracy definitely needs to be fixed.

Still have to edit. This App does not do a good job of capturing correct information. 99% of the time I still need to go to my contact app and correct information it captured incorrectly or missed all together. Don’t waste your money. Now I have updated to the newest version of IOS on an iPhone 8 and the app wont open.

Very Good Application. Compared to the Abby Card Reader it performs much better. I do not use any additional features, just the paid application.

President. I tried several other business card scanner. This one worked better than others. However, decoding chinese character is a challenge. I love the APP though.

Poor text recognition. Consistently mistakens 6 for 0. Also does not export to Evernote in the ‘business card’ format native to Evernote. Instead it just creates a regular not. Not a big deal, but kind of annoying

Ease of use. This is a great program, makes things very easy when scanning business cards. I highly recommend this program.

Upgrade to OS12 Needed. Since I updated my OS for he new OS12 the app opens and crashes immediately from the screen. It’s open in the background but when selected it crashes back again and again. An upgrade is due to get it to work. I hope BCR are working on it.

Help??????. I downloaded the program. Scan fairly OK. Having to make quite a few edits. Have attempted to subscribe to the cloud service. Cannot get the app and the service to sync. I've paid for the subscription to the cloud twice now and when logging in, it tells me I still have only the trial 10 to download. I'm sure it's operator error. But without some sort of tech help, then my app fee has been wasted.

Was working well but.... A great app, but recently it has stopped being able to switch between landscape and portrait mode - even if you erase the app, reboot, re-install.

Updated review. As with others who have recently posted here the app no longer works with the new iOS. Don’t waste your money on this app unless you see others who have posted review saying that the problems are fixed

iPhone. Does not work at all with new iPhone os waste of money and time worked for a couple weeks fairly well then when you scan all you get is garbage

Works Well. Went online looking for a card reader, and decided to give this one a shot. I haven't had a search any further, because it does everything I wanted to do very simply. It saves to my iOS contacts, as well as the app Contacts.

Stop looking for others. I actually found this app quick. It worked so good I never looked for another.

Doesn’t work with iOS 12. I do not know how to contact the app developer to ask a question. It would be nice if they would update this app to work with iOS 12. Ever since the update the app will not even launch. Very Frustrating!!

Not working properly with iOS11. BCR Pro was one of my favorite apps. Used it multiple times every week and highly recommended it to business colleagues. With the recent iOS11 update the card copy function now locks up the program and is no longer functional.

Love it. Scan the card and uploaded into my phone. Sync it from there to my CRM. Works a treat in rally quick simple steps

Good idea but extremely disappointing. What seems to be wahoo is in fact not that good. The app makes quite a few assumptions. I spend more time fixing them and putting the words back in the right order. At the end, it would be quickest to simply key in the detail in contacts than taking a picture, getting it scanned, processed and validate the data. It was too good to be true.

Not working for me. I purchased this app and have tried to upload cards and it fails every time. I am on a IPhone X. I would recommend it unless you can show me where I am gong wrong

Best app. Not sure what some people are useing, but with an iphone 3gs this app works perfectly every time. The only problem I've had is with poorly printed business cards. Every clear business card I've used has worked fine. Love it, my favorate app. Well done to the makers of this, worth the money.

Saved me so much time!. The only downside is cards with a black background are hard to read but 95% of cards are white so it's not really to bad, other then that it's saved me so much time!!!!! This technology would be great it accounts payable and receivable systems!

OMG this actually works. Okay... I took a risk and got this app. I didn't think it was actually gonna work. It does! Surprisingly well on my 3GS. Well done guys!! Has recognised all the cards I've scanned!

Great app... This has potential. When I purchased the app I was... Expecting it to be only average. However it is •|••*~ fantastic!! Selecting a language is easy then a sub screen appears with dialects appears. Translation is quite good but needs work. YOU can submit corrections which improves the translator. Future versions.. Should make this app even better! Just brilliant!

Pretty good. Maybe it's because I deal with creative types, but most cards need a fair amount of work before they end up in Contacts. Extraneous text or text at right angles throws this app completely (though not surprisingly). The app has real problems with addresses and doesn't appear to have been localized for Australia as it doesn't know what to do with the state. The amount of correction you generally have to do means you could have just entered the data manually in the same time. It's good with numbers though and I suppose eliminates typos. But it's more fun with this app and you get to keep an image of the card (though you can't zoom or scroll without first exporting it to the Camera Roll). I really like the simulated leather look! Anyway, it's a keeper but some updates to address handling, removing duplicate fields on a merge and enhancements for viewing the saved card would probably see this garner a higher average rating.

Dissatisfied. Advertised in Sydney newspaper at $4.99 then when I went ti app store it was $7.99?? What's going on there? This app has failed everytime I have used it. I end up having to type all details in myself- what's the use? I have since purchased a card holder app which is much more useful for $1.99- I should have read other buyers reviews before paying for this one. I will be deleting this app.

Love this App. Great way to reduce business card clutter in my wallet. Hadnt used for a while due to issues with gmail syncing and all appears to be rectified. Yes the occasional edit is required after scanning, but over all, the hard work is done for you. One of my favourite itunes purchases.

DO NOT BUY UNTIL UPDATED FOR iOS4. As a professional journalist, I love this app. It did need work for some cards but cut through a lot of typing for someone with a lot of new meetings every day. However, it stalled and crashed when I used it after installing iOS4 - and I then realised all my contacts had been wiped, including government ministers, business leaders and quiet sources. I was able to recover thanks to a backup, but would advise against purchasing until there's confirmation of iOS4 compatibility. After that I will return to my 4-star review.

Ok but OCR average. Scans cards OK but always makes unnecessary character recognition errors.

This App saves you time and money. How many business cards do you have to misplace before you get this app. I've been using it for years. It is a no brainer. Get it, use it, and stop losing contacts and wasting time typing in new ones to your contact list.

Disappointing. A disappointing app. It captures the business card well as a photograph, but the conversion to contacts is usually messy and gives some strange results. If you could just use this as a business card holder that would be useful, but it seems that if you don't convert the card to your contacts, then it won't save the business card. Think I'll be removing this app from my phone. I should have taken more notice of the other reviews before purchasing.

Quick & Simple to use. I've been using BCR Pro for quite a while & find it very quick & easy to use. I'd highly recommend it.

Great time saver!!!. Just bought an hour ago, did 5 cards in a few minutes. Need to check, made 3 changes total. Only 1 affected a contact (one letter out in email address). Saves around 80% time over manually entering all fields. All phone numbers were 100%. Great app!

Great app, recommended. Really easy to use, great character recognition, saves a lot of time and way better than typing in contacts! Well worth paying for.

Accurate and reliable. I have been using this app for a couple of years and find it to be both accurate in its character recognition and also very stable and reliable.

Works as expected. Does just what I need, with accurate scans of most cards and then exporting them to where I need them. (Contacts and Evernote). When the OCR is not so good it is easy to fix at the time.

Good recognition and integration. Recognition is good, minor faults easily corrected. These minor faults are rsre and come from bizarrely designed cards and can hardly be blamed on the software and again easily touched up. The software integrates into the phones contacts, thence to outlook etc. It also has its own internal contacts 'wallet' which retains a photo of the card as a backup and now seems to link into social media like LinkedIn.

BC reader App. I agree with others that it has very good accuracy with occasional blips easily fixed. Great tool. No need to keep cards anymore and they're always with you on the iPhone.

Great tool for adding bus cards to contacts. Fantastic tool great for adding business cards to contacts. Recognition is great and makes transferring info easy. Just need to be able to rotate main menu when rotating iPhone

Great App BUT ... can't move card data. I get great use out of Business Card reader. I can now throw all those business cards away! However, when I buy a new device such as new version iPhone or iPad, there's no way to move my digital card holder to the new device. Yes, details are sync'd with Contacts but the scanned images can't be moved to the new device.

Working really well. It's been a year or so since i have used this app, but this version is much improved and i'm getting 99% accurate data being recorded.

Awesome for business!!. I have tried MANY, and I mean, wasted a lot of money, on a few of the biz card readers on the App Store but none come close to this little gem. It will succeed in getting the majority of the information right. Anyone who expects any reader to be 100% is crazy. With the various designs a card is set it's just not possible!!! This great program requires little amendments but it also allows you to see the LinkedIn profile of the person so you can add even more info. INVALUABLE! Hey, you should be hitting the BUY NOW button!!!!

Better Than Expected. Great ap- you need to take a good photo and ensure that the light isn't reflecting off the card but the scanning function is very accurate. I had to cut and paste surnames otherwise the entry goes into contacts as one name. The transfer of data to contacts is editable and, of course it then all synchs nicely with you mail client and all is right with the world

It works. People that say this doesn't work can read. Have decent light and do as per instructions this app works fine. Most of the cards I have scanned worked apart from a couple I needed to make a few adjustments. Pay the $2.49 as it's worth it over the other products that are over $10.

Geat app. Its not perfect, usually requiring a small correction to at least one of the contact fields in 70% of cases. Paying close attention to having even lighting across the business card with no glare helps accuracy a lot. It beats typing and Its more than good enough so that I now use it for any business cases I'm given. Goodby card trays - I would never have made the effort to manually key contact details in - this app takes most of the pain out of it.

Great app. Some minor flaws but pretty decent. Works well if the lighting is decent. Pretty impressed with the results. Some minor flaws, for example, it sometimes puts o's instead of 0's in number fields but more unusual than the norm. Warning - Does not work properly on the latest OS4 of iPhone and jumbles up info in your contacts. I would wait for a new release to ensure OS4 compatibility before purchasing if you are on OS4.

Works ok but can be better. Nice layout and app but it's data scanning should be improved. I'm having problems with it running on 0S4 - shuts down after it runs through the scanning process.

Ducks guts!!. This us a great app. Sure you may need to manually change one or two things occasionally on complicated cards but beats putting cards in a drawer!!! Works for me!

Great App , Great Support. This is one of the most useful iPhone apps that I have. It bombed badly with the upgrade to iOS 4, trashing all contacts on my iPhone. I lodged a report to support at Shape Services, and received a very polite and apologetic response the same day, saying they expected an update in less than two weeks. The update was made available in less than a week. It works. It's terrific, and I just scanned a bunch of cards - 100% accurate, synced to address book, an no glitches. Frankly, you don't expect this quality of support from a low cost phone app, and it speaks volumes for Shape Services, and the whole Apple iTunes ecosystem.

Surprisingly accurate. On 3Gs, managed pretty good (not perfect) accuracy even with pretty ordinary user-inkjet-printed card in 5-point type! Given all the ways that card designers use to locate and name their printed fields, does quit a good job of puuting the right data in the right iPhone fields...though the OS3 cut-n-paste is occasionally required to move something to the right place. Overall good...pay attention to the need for GOOD LIGHT to take the photo.

Great app. I have been using BC Scanner for while now and find it very convenient for storing my contact information. I scan the business card and within seconds it is in my iPhone and MS Outlook contacts. D Tully.

Mr. Very happy with this app. If the business card is clean and details clear it works spot on. No matter what it sure does save time hunting for someone's business card among the hundreds that you accumulate in business! Four stars out of five !

No help. Purchased the product via iStore at $7.99 however went to use the product and does not save contacts on iPhone 3GS. Went to website for help and instructions and found nothing. I only tried one business card and all appeared to be good, the info came across but did not save into the contacts. Price on Website is $5.99 so don't buy here in fisrt instance go to website.

Great Ap - Problems with OSi4. This is a great ap -- used it all the time. Does not work now with OSi4 - just freezes and even crashed and erased my contacts list. When will we see the new OSi4 version?

Almost there. I understand at this stage with this app you can not save a photo of a business card to the card holder without scanning to contacts. I am hoping this is added in the future as an upgrade as everything else appears really good.

Tried a few. And this one tops the two other card readers I have tried. More info capture more consistently.

Very good even in low light conditions. After testing a number of Business Card scanner apps, i was dubious about buying this one, however generally it is a great app. The issues i did find was that the app doesn't like cards that have coloured background such as a black back ground or some more of the stylist cards getting around at the moment. Normal business cards that are black on white work 100% of the time. Others with lots of images, or script style writing can be a little problematic, however they do work. All in all this is worth the money as it will save you the time and that is the $$$

Business is easier. Once I download this app and saw the TIME it saved me I was thrilled. No more manually entering details and wasting time just straight to business.

Does what it says on the box. I've been using this for a while now and it seems to have improved with each release. There is the odd occasion where a card will fool it and the result needs to be manually rectified, but these are becoming less frequent.

Not bad at all!. Not perfect, but pretty dam good! This one is the better of the business card readers on here, and worth the cost.

Last version crashes. Worked fine on GS3 previously, but after update crushes every time I try to scan a business card.

I want a refund !!!. This application does not work at all !!! I even tried a simple single word and it could not read it. Trash app !

Fail. Using a 3Gs I tried 11 business cards and 9 of them failed, the pictures I took were crystal clear and bright so it can't be blamed on poor photography, in my opinion the OCR software is just not good enough to make sense of the different fonts, logos and pictures in business cards.

Crashes in IOS 12.. Crashes in IOS 12. Very poor follow up from producers. Can’t import data into pro version from basic version.

Almost perfect. Scans as good as can be expected. Let's face it; some cards are just not designed with readability in mind. Only thing that keeps me from giving it 5 stars is that I want it to recognize first and last name as separate entries. And not place the entire person's name into the first name field.

Plesantly surprised. I was very anxious buying this app as a lot of card readers are garbage. But this app does what it I'd supposed to quite well. Don't get me wrong, it is not perfect, as sometimes fields are misrwad or mislabeled, but overall, it works just fine. I am using it quite often with great results and therefore it is worth the investment. I would recommend this to anyone. Just make sure you have ample light.

Your app. This app is totally useless. After loading the app onto my phone I scanned the first business card and saved it to my contacts it was all unreadable gibberish. I want my money back.

I'll be damn&d!. This thing waits for my hands to stop moving an takes the pic, scans and interprets ... About 10 seconds total per card... Awesome. Like LinkedIn grabber but for paper.

Great ap. This ap is great, it is easy to use and 95% of the time it is 100% in transfer of information. Only times it doesn't is if there is an extension on the card it just adds this to the number so you have to delete it.

No Longer Works. Bought this app a year ago and it worked great. But about a month ago it stopped working, completely unable to recognize cards. It's useless now.

Good release. Works well but as mentionned it would be nice if it separated the first and last name. Also better address filter to datafill the address field would be good too. As a suggestion I would like to see a way to add the contact entry into an existing category. Now I have to go into MobileMe to move it or use another contact manager to place it in the category I want. Besides that it's a very useful app.

Works pretty good in canada. Yes i do still need to edit some little things that don't spell right or it missed something but it has never gotten a phone number wrong, one thing i wanted that i would make this app 5 stars for is the option to ALSO take a picture of the backside of a business card an save it in my card holder, because i know contacts can't have 2 pictures for one contact. But i want that for the card holder within the app, thanks.

Terrible, Terrible, Terrible. Terrible. This thing has never worked. I have a G3 and spent $40 on a special iPhone case with lens to get this to work. It does not. I have developed 12 apps and have 50+ on my iPhone. This is the worst app I have ever encountered. It simply does not work. What prompted me to write this is that a friend with a Samsung was able to scan another friend's card flawlessly and my scan of the same card came out as gibberish. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible.

Actually quite good!. I was very reluctant to spend $5.99 for an App with no reviews - but I was intersested enough to see if it would work. Quite impressive actually. Once you take the picture, it scans the card in about 5 seconds or so. I tested the App right away on three different cards and it got two of them almost 100% - the 3rd - not so good because of the font, I think. In any case, you need to review the scan once it's in just to make sure - but I would have no hesitation in recommending this App! When I scanned my own Business Card, the App recognized that it needed to merge the data with the existing card. Excellent V1.0!

Good but.... Not ideal for Canadians. Does not recognize Canadian provinces nor postal codes. Need to manually edit. Too bad. Can't wholeheartedly recommend this app.

App is not updated for ages!. App hasn’t been updated for ages! This is the pro version which means we have paid for it. They should have the courtesy to update the app regularly. It used to be a fantastic app working seamlessly in the past. I hope they will soon keep updating it regularly so it becomes useful again.

Average. okay does work...but after buying fealt bit ripped as lighting and how you put the iPhone over card etc etc not as easy as other reviews pointed out. I am in sales and would have been a great program if worked better. If lighting off does not always bring info in correctly. Bit disappointed but will play with bit more and maybe make a stand with small lighting that could speed up process and make more exact. Fun not worth money buy a card reader and use in personal computer.

Erased my contact list.. Worked like a charm when I first used it. Tried again recently (on iOS 4) and it erased all of my contacts...700+ of them. I do have most backed up, still will waste a lot of time fixing things. Painful learning experience. Perhaps a bug with new OS? I will not trust it again, very sorry it did not work for me.

Surprisingly good. The reviews for this app were fairly decent considering all the obvious pitfalls you would suspect it to have. I am happy to say it works with surprising accuracy. Far better then I would have thought or hoped for. You will need to make some minor corections but so far nothing major. Edit. I forgot to mention the one really annoying thing. It doesn't seem to catch the last name when a middle initial is present so you have to enter it 100%manually. Happenned acouple of times. But over this will save you lots of time.

Awesome. Great app. Does exactly what it's supposed to do. Have to make a few corrections, and won't put in the @ symbol in any of my card scans. Update: Does not work on iOS4. Crashes after scanning a card. Fix this and my rating goes back up to 5 stars.

Not Bad. I just bought the app and I tested three cards of varying complexity. The easiest required some playing with the phone numbers and I had to move the address information in to the city state and postal code fields. The next hardest needed the same revisions and had a problem with the email where it inserted spaces before and after the @ sign. The final didn't do well at all. On the first scan it thought the contact's name was Ann Arbor, the second got the first name and initial but the last name was lost and the rest of the data was mismanaged. On the average, clean, white background, traditional layout card, it does a passable job and will eliminate many keystrokes that would be required otherwise. I can picture myself using the app daily and I hope that future revisions will allow me to quickly scan and store without intervention so that I can eliminate the piles of paper cards that I inevitably end up with after a show.

Much improved in Version 1.1. Updated review: My original review had the subject line "Better than manual entry, but barely". Version 1.1 has made a number of improvements and the app works MUCH better than before. I had a stack of cards that failed badly in v1.0 failed and about 80% of those are now being recognized quite well. You still have to do a fair amount of touch-up but it is now substantially better than entering by hand. If they keep improving the app at this rate (and it still needs improvement) it will be really killer. As it is, I'm upping my rating to four stars and I recommend this to anyone who is willing to put up with the necessary manual tweaks. Even desktop business card readers need tweaks, they are not as convenient and they cost a LOT more.

Reader works!. I just downloaded this app last week and have already scanned most of my contacts' business cards! This app works great for the most part. The OCR gets a little confused by odd fonts or 'over graphic' designs on some business cards, but consistently captures most of the important information. Well worth the small cost I'd say, just needs a little more tweeking on the OCR

Requesting refund from Apple store . No support for the application or their Cloud subscription.. Bcr.shape.ag is not working, you will pay the subscription fee and you can not get support or refund. Be alerted. I have purchased the app and using it for more than 2 years. After one of the updates for iPhone 6 the app start crashing. Thinking it is because of the old iPhone, I upgraded to iPhone X. Trying to move my 1600 cards to the new phone I had to sync with the cloud so I purchased the cloud services from the same developer. Sync from the old phone was a night mare when the app crash after 5 cards. Uploading to the cloud took 3 weeks and then the cloud stoped working where you can not see your cards at all on any browse. Now neither the cloud work or I can sync my iPhone to get the cards to the new device. Sending more than 10 emails to support without a reply, called Apple and filled a complaint. On their site there is no phone number to call, emails do not get answered. It’s total waste of money and your cards are gone. So disappointed to depend on shape.ag for your business. You will loose your business because of them.

A few flaws but motivates you just to start using this app to save more contacts easier. You might have to go through and fix some things but to go ahead and get a good start it's a wonderful app to start using. The thing I like most about it is where you can go and view all the business card pictures that you have taken pictures of so that where it's like a new Rolodex for your iPhone for such a cheap amount of money compared to what we used to spend on Rolodexes where would take so much time and effort and you can never find it nearly as easy as you could find your contacts now I think it's a goodbye but there should be some fixes to it for sure!

Until they offer a free trial; don't buy it. Against my better judgement I downloaded this based on some website reviews. I have looked at 5 or more biz card scanners. I'm not a fan of those that upload your data to a server (privacy issue), but I like the idea of having a LInkedin invite within the app. Unfortunately after testing WorldCard, Business Card Reader, ScanCard, and CamCard on a few difficult cards WorldCard had one of the best quality results. The typical errors from the scanners are: - putting the City on the Street Address line - not deleting company tag lines that might be under a company name - incorrectly interpreting the company name if there is a logo adjacent to the name The first time I scanned a difficult card with BCR it came back with mostly gibberish. The second time I tried the same card it got almost everything except putting the City in the Street address line. But when you're scanning a bunch of cards the foremost need is not to have to manually fix stuff. Biggest problem with Business Card Reader is the lack of a Free trial version that most other biz card readers do have.

Does what it says it will do. Purchased this recently, and have found it remarkably accurate. Read the publisher's fine print: lighting is critical to accuracy, and it requires a camera with a macro lens capability. I am impressed. It sure saves time. My wish list for future updates would include: the ability to assign cards to contact groups, rather than the contact simply going into the contact library; being able to assign any ringtone to the contact, not just from the basic list of tones. Getting these new contacts into groups (which I use a lot) is a two-step process: scan in the card, then go to Address Book on the computer and move them to a group. This should be a one-step process from the card reader. Ringtones may be an Apple limitation with the iPhone. Don't know, but it would be nice to be able to assign any ringtone on the phone to any contact added through the reader.

Work in Progress. This is an ok start, but not there yet. I use a 3GS so that's not the issue. The software isn't parsing lastname firstname and is combining the fields in the first name field which makes searching impossible when you have lots of contacts. It does the same thing with the address fields. It also has a hard time when there is a suttle pattern in the background of the card and when the card is printed in large and small caps. There is a lot of work to be done to get this right, so I'm waiting for the updates. To be fair, these guys make good apps, so I'm sure they will get there. I will revise my rating as I see improvements. Here is an enhancement suggestion. Allow users to send linkedin invitations directly from this app.

Get my Vote Read on. There is One thing I enjoy is testing out Apps and this is Apps make it all worth while. I can truly say this works well. Good Lighting is the key to this app or any apps that uses a camera. The OCR in this program did not miss a thing. I tested this app out today giving it a good work out and it passed with only a 2 real issue 1) Need good lighting not the best but enough to see the card clearly 2) When it scanned the Lawyers card it put ESQ on the address line other then that no issue. No editing at all so far. I scanned over 25 cards and this app work great. I must say I like this App it will save you time updating your contacts. I do not give out 5 stars easily but this one get all 5 Thanks!

Needs a few things. So I love the UI! Great app, like all the rest not all card are read 100% I got this app cause I thought I would be able to keep the cards and contacts in the app without being forced to add them to my contacts. This is not possible as they all automatically go to the contacts. So my FEATURE REQUEST would be the ability to just use this app as my business card holder and not have to add them to my iPhone contacts library, keep business separate. Of course I would export some to my contacts but not all so it would have to do everything it does now just also save a copy within the app, so the app would sort of double as a contact app, with the option of being used this way or not. I will recommend and give 5 stars if this feature becomes available.

Great! Surprisingly accurate. The app works great and is well, well worth the purchase price--especially after conferences, when you come home with 50 new biz cards. The problems it has aren't because of the app, they're because so many people have "creative" biz cards that no scanner could scan. People put their name on one side and address on the other, use odd type faces, embossing, make them out of titanium, yada yada. But this covers 80% of all cards with 80+% accuracy which makes it a mission critical app for me.

great idea, (currently) poor execution - should be easily fixable. Having been a coder myself, I can imagine how hard these guys worked on this; and it is a great idea. But honestly - how could you tell you boss this is production ready, when the VERY FIRST LINE OF interpretation - NAME - is WRONG! My first name is not Bob R Smith..... hello - did anyone who put this out there actuall test this? This is not a MiNoR detail - that and the phone number are pretty much the most importat things, right?! - a silly bug that should never go to production. A dollar or two app, I could forgive that bug.. 5 bucks.. it should work properly first time out of the shoot. In fact, I'm a little scared, because it should be such a trivial bug to fix (e.g reading from the right, just take all the letters interpred in the name line and stop at the first space.. there's your last name) that's usually pretty easy to do programatically.. makes me wonder if it's fixable at all...

Astounding result the first time out. Before I write this review, let me comment on the abysmal literacy most of the one and two star ratings display. They had zero credibility for me. I have a business card that has a violet background with pale yellow and white text. I'd have to say that this is a relatively challenging test for OCR, however, using my itty bitty 20 watt halogen down light above my keyboard, I created an easel of a row of keys on my keyboard and my sunglasses as the shelf and legs respectively. I followed the directions and adjusted my iPhone 3GS so the image filled the screen and the camera lens was parallel to the card surface. One click and two phone numbers, web site, email, company name and my name were all scanned correctly. I expected a higher error rate because state-of-the-art OCR is just not perfect. It never has been, but this first card had zero errors! This may have been beginner's luck, but with this degree of accuracy, the manual corrections I expect to make in the future should be quite acceptable. I think this app is a real bargain and it will save me from ever having to keep up with business cards. Great work, Shape!

Even works for international business cards. This app does a great job at detecting not only american, but also international business cards. Sure, you have to do some editing here and there, especially with international business cards where it doesn't always do the street address or the phone number right, but overall it is a great app that allows you to transform all these business cards into entries in your native contacts application. And that's exactly where I want that info!

Well Worth It. I scanned six very different style cards and it worked great. The only typos were in addresses with special characters (i.e. #). The important info including name, title, organization, phone, e-mail were almost perfect on my first 6 tries. I had to change "ext." in somebody's phone number extension to a pause. The application is laid out well and let's you edit the scanned info in the iPhone contacts manager or directly as plain text. All of my tests were under regular office flourescent lighting which cast shadows on the cards from the camera but it didn't matter. Waaaay better than typing. Well done!

Disappointing. The app worked reasonably well for a short while and then BOOM it stopped. Now when you scan a card it produces absolute gibberish. Absolutely useless.

Not a bad effort. I bought this application with great hope. I HATE entering business card information into my contact list. One of the few worse things I can think of is doing expense reports, but that's another story. Anyway, this applications works; sometimes. If the card is a basic business card, the applications works well. If the card gets fancy, well, you can capture a portion of the information usually. So, what would I do to take this application to the next level? I agree there is only so much you can do in interpreting cards, and I can't complain about what this app gets right. What I would do however is present the information on a screen before the contact screen and let the user drag the information around to the correct field. Many times it captures the text but places business names in titles or similar errors, dragging the information to other fields would go a long way in making it a lot more usable. All that being said, I don't regret buying the application.

With tweaks, this will be a great app. The first three cards that I scanned in were quite recognizable. I removed extraneous characters and made a few minow corrections to each contact. The difficulties began when I tried to sync my iPhone to my computer and Mobile Me. The syncs failed until I removed those three contacts. After reporting the problem, I received and automated reply enquiring if I had removed stray characters and spaces. Well, yes to the characters and if I have to go through each entry to find spaces that the app inserted, then that app is pretty usesless to me. As it stands now, the app cannot be used. As a side note: the automated reply addressed me as "Dear Bummer." Ah, the world of automation. . . .  :) So when the app is tweaked to remove whatever it is that makes syncing impossible, it will be a very useful and valued app.  Right now, it is more a parlor trick useful for less-than-engaging social situations such as the endless discussion of Tiger Woods' sexual addiction (a topic that nearly everyone claims to know for certain whatever s/he believes). Suddenly the armchair psychologists deliver "oohs" and "ahs" while watching their business cards become contacts and the conversation changes from the droll to something that most can speak about with a degree of authority. Impressive recognition, improved greatly. I just upped my rating from one to four stars after ignoring this app for so long. I hadn't used it in a long time but glad I didn't delete it as I just tried it and after a few updates it seems that OCR capabilities have been vastly upgraded and debugged. On issue is uk zip codes that mix letters and numbers in one string usually and it can't seem to get these nuances but what matters mostly to me is the phone, name and email and that's been close to perfect with excellent correction/verification tools before you save the card. Looking forward to more from this dev I hope.

Crashes iOS 13. The app crashes ever since I installed the latest iOS update. I reloaded the app reinstalled iOS, nothing. Have they gone out of business???!!

Works, but not flawless. I find it to work flawlessly for all phone numbers, it correctly recognizes and categorizes all phone numbers. Names and titles usually need some manual corrections, but usually better than entering everything from scratch. The most annoying feature is that it correctly recognizes city/state/zip, but always lumps them into one entry in the address field, instead of separating them into their correct fields so you have to go in and manually separate them out EVERY time. Seems like this should be an easy fix for the developers. I say it's worth the $5, but still needs work.

Update - good application and excellent customer support. Although the app's scanning success rate is fully acceptable in my short experience, a major drawback is that the scanned contacts are not seamlessly synchronized with your iPhone's address book and thus - neither with the Mac's address book, eventually. In other words, as far as I am concerned as a user, your effort to scan a new business card is wasted, because instead of integrating the new card into your contact data base you just have created a separate data base for your scanned contacts, called "card holder". Who wants that??? --------- Update - One has to choose which contacts group one wants the new contact to be added to. Once it's done, the new card synchronizes without problem both to the iPhone's address book and to my MacBook Pro as well. The customer support was outstanding - no delays, very professional and polite communication. For the customers support I would give 5*. The scan success rate is quite good, but you have to check all the fields to make sure they are accurate. All in all - a useful and well made app!

Scan in a snap. The first time I tested it I was disappointed with some poor results, but as soon as I improved lighting conditions and was ready to change the occasional odd entry, I found it useful. The app will add the picture to the contact vCard so you can see how the hardcopy looked like. Doing this manually for 12 cards would have been a torture. One of the most surprising aspects from this app is that it scanned the text from the logo with various colors and then understands that's the company name. I like the integration with your AddressBook, since it gives you the chance to update your vCards merging data with existing ones, and even to retrieve from Linkedin. As the developer says, "no OCR software can guarantee yet 100% results". Again, be prepared to check the results looking for typos as you would do when entering the data manually. You can also export the text as simple text, that I found useful during the review to paste it in emails.

Way better than Cardreader.. Don't waist ur money on Cardreader!!! I first purchased Cardreader and it sucked so I then purchased this app and compared the two. This one is a million times better than Cardreader and it costs less. Overall this app is great, I give it a 4 cause it could use some improvements on focus assist. Pros: Can scan mutli colored buisness cards without a problem. Puts the info where it SHOULD go almost every time. Better and cheaper than the competition. Can merge the info with a current contact or create new. Cons: Lighting has to be good when taking picture of the card. If the buisness card has extra large and small print, the small print may have some errors do to focus problems. Takes a little while to focus on text.

Needs update. Won't work on ios12. Was mediocre before but now completely useless.

A Useful App - OK Performance. This is an extremely useful and simple to use app. All things considered, it works pretty well relative to cost. And I cut it some slack since there is no business card "standard". Having said that, some cards read better than others. The app has some problems with italic or other fine or small type. It also maintains all caps if that's how the word is displayed on the card - eg, in a company name, position title or person's name. So you do have to carefully "proof" the entry. Used to be a little slow in processing as well but they've really improved that.

I must be a dev or friend... because i'm rating this highly.. I bought this after hovering over the $10, $15, even $25 alternatives. I figured what the heck $2, i've paid more for absolute apptrash. Well tell you what; if you read the instructions and use your brain when positioning the card you will get 90%+ accuracy. After scanning my first 5 cards I can say I am very impressed. I have only had to correct 1 or 2 letters, and those on strange cards where the company name or contact information has unusual script. What are some of you people with trouble trying to do? Capture in the dark of your hotel room? Consider the light source, position of the card and the fact that business cards are not all flat Courier text. This app is well worth the $2. If there had been a trial version, I would ended up having been ready to pay $10. Stay away from scanning apps of any kind if you don't have a 3GS, you're just causing yourself more work due to the hardware limitations.

The best I could find. Never have I found a business card scanning solution I felt was worth the effort. With most options in the market you spend more time proof reading the results than it would take to just type in the key information. 2 other card scanner Apps failed me. They would either get very confused by strange card layouts or they wouldn't be able to tolerate the shadow created by holding the phone over the card. SHAPE's OCR is slowest of all the ones I tried. However, I don't care. It is, BY FAR, the most accurate. Plus, the way scanned cards are stored is an excellent plus. I don't worry about extensive proof reading because I know it'll be easy to refer back to the original card (on the rare times I need to.)

App hangs after app update. The BCR app has not been working well after the 3.11 update. It hangs and the scan function is not working well

Close ..... I was happy when I saw this application available ... but am not satisfied with using it. Of the six cards I "read" ... not one ended up with the correct information in the right spots. I spent as much time correcting the mis-information as I would have manually entering it (well ... maybe not that much). I am giving it three stars because I think when it works as advertised it will be great! These are the types of applications that make the iPhone a real productivity machine. I'm a little confused though. I read the reviews for products I buy (especially for $5.99) and have generally had the same experience as the other users. There are way too many perfect reviews for a product that I have had Zero luck with. Makes me suspiscious as to who is writing these reviews. Design team ... I hope to see an "update" that will make this app all that it's advertised to be. Then I won't feel so bad for spending $5.99 for it!!

I bought both to compare. Since the cheapest business card scanner starts at about $58 and goes upwards of $250, I decided $10 would be worth the gamble to buy both. Skip Business Card Reader. The WorldCard program (for $4 instead of $6) has much better character recognition and I had to make fewer corrections (I tried the same stack of cards with both programs). Of course, it's always easier if the people you are dealing with don't get excessively fancy with their cards -- but everyone thinks that they are important! BCR had a couple of advantages: syncing new information with an existing contact, and using the card as the photo (which seems to be mandatory and not an option). WorldCard should pick up those features. I never did actually get the cards imported with Business Card Reader to show up in my contacts, another thing that made it not-so-user-friendly to me. I've already deleted Business Card Reader and wish there were a way to get my money back. Hopefully I saved you all $6. Spend $4 on WorldCard instead. Cheers.

Macintosh Consultant to the Stars. I saw Business Card Reader at Macworld Expo 2010. It wasn't perfect in the demos but it was close just about every time. In my experience (three days and about ten cards) it has been perfect a couple of times, close most of the time. It is easy enough to edit the scanned results so I don't mind it not being perfect. I have had to remind myself that the lens on the camera is not in the center of the iPhone. If I forget about that I end up with a distorted image, and the results are good but not great. If I center the iPhone lense over the card I get a rectangular picture (with 90 degree corners) and GREAT results. This is on an iPhone 3GS. The program has crashed on me once, right after a scan. Otherwise it's been well-behaved and it's already saved me time. Well worth the $1.99 I paid (Macworld Expo special).

Great App. I have been using this app for about a week now. It has really worked very well for me. Keep in mind that there will be fewer recognition issues if you keep your hand steady and are in bright light. I noticed if my hand was a little shaky or the lighting was off, there will be more editing required. I suggest taking your cards home and take the pictures under a bright light there. It is worth it. I do wish there was a way to sort the cards by name and by company, I hope that option will be released in the future. By company would be best for me personally, but I do not see that feature here. I would rate this app five stars if that sorting feature were added. My boss is jealous and is thinking about getting an iPhone just for this app! She has business cards all over her desk and mine are filed neatly away :)

Handy app. Saves time scan in portrait for best results

Mixed up cards!!. As some others have found out, this app worked fairly well until Apple offered 4.0. After updating the iPhone firmware, BC Reader ate all my contacts. Since then, the BC-Reader updates helped, but after each update it scrambles some of the business cards so they don't match the contacts. It loses some of the cards so I can't reread them into contacts, even though one of the new features allows you to reread old stored cards into contacts. I've lost so many it's too much trouble to keep track of what's missing, and clean up the duplicates and wrong information the program has inserted into my contact list. Make sure you have backed up your contacts and keep them current because this program will corrupt your data on a whim.

Good App. Is a really good App and helpful tool to keep all Contats.

User. Works only so-so. Although I can take a picture of a business card and it transfers most of the information correctly, this app rarely gets the address correct. I nearly always have to delete the address information and input it manually. It does not matter if the font on the card is crystal clear and easy to read or not. I could understand some of the more difficult fonts out there but this happens no matter what. If they would fix this I would probably give it five stars. The fact that I have to pay for this app and it does not work 100%... I'm only rating it three stars.
