Unnecessarily complex update. I deleted a star from my last review because I’ve given up. This update is still needlessly complex and non intuitive. It is difficult to navigate even the simplest tasks. The emphasis of this update is definitely based in appearance as opposed to usability. It’s a shame. I used to love to use it. I have 3 academic degrees, including a doctorate, and after 2 months of using this version, I still can figure out how it works. I pretty much use it for one reason, to listen to the radio. It drops streams, starts and stops on its own, I still can’t figure out why live radio is divided into chapters and it stops playing after each one. The support people are nice and responsive but spend most of their time trying to convince me that I like it instead of fixing the issues. I went back and looked at the reviews from the time they released version 15 and they are universally awful. There is another app that has the content that I want and is much simpler to use. I think I’ll change to that one.

The rewind feature is incredibly buggy, and almost unusable.. The only reason I use this app is to listen to my favorite sports talk radio shows when I’m unable to listen live. I will rewind the show to the beginning. The problem is, the stream will quote often randomly decide to skip forward anywhere from 5 to 45 minutes. Then, when I try to rewind back to where I was, I can’t find it. Since I listen to it in the background, I’m not watching my screen to be able to know where I was at in the stream. Another problem is that MANY times I will miss something someone says and I’ll try to rewind 15 seconds, and MOST of the time I try to do that, it will rewind multiple minutes. Then I have to find my place again. Or, it will jump FORWARD 5 minutes. Overall, the app is just super frustrating to use. If you listen to something live, it usually works fine. But good luck if you decide to use the rewind feature.

Too many bugs, not enough features. Update: This app has continued to get worse. It constantly has problems loading. The rewind feature is far from perfect. I have spent 20 minutes trying to listen to the pre-game show I have listened to for years. The app is blank or says it has troubles loading. Sometimes it will load the station info, and sometimes it won’t. I have tried force closing the app several times and reinstalling the app all together. As of today, I am done using this app. I love my radio station, but I have put up with this horrible app for years and now I can’t even get it to load. I will be listening to ESPN from now on. I am not exaggerating, this is the worst app I have ever installed on my Apple products. I enjoyed using the TuneIn app for many years. But my station (670 The Score) switched to using exclusively this app. I miss the ability to pause and record segments (as not everything I listen to has a podcast, such as postgame talk). My number one complaint is that the app randomly plays even if I have stopped it. I have to manually close the app every time or it will start playing again.

Needs work. Doesn’t continue to play.. TOO MANY COMMERCIALS I LITERALLY LISTEN FOR 8 minutes and still haven’t heard the actual RADIO STATION. Back to iHeartRadio. Sometimes I get a call and it obviously takes precedence over the app and when I end the call I go back to the app and the radio does not continue to play either on its own because the call ended or if I’ve pressed play. No matter how long the call was. Same thing happens if a video pops up on Facebook I want to watch, I have to kill the app and reopen it for each instance. Slightly frustrating especially listening to my favorite morning show. No offense but iHeartRadio comes right back on, but I would like to listen local so I use it in the morning even though Kidd Kraddick Morning Show is nationally syndicated and I could listen to iHeartRadio on another station. So come on y’all! #firstworldproblems

What happened?. This app used to be great. I’d listen to my local AM news station while getting ready for work in the morning and never had a problem. It would stop playing if I opened another app with sound, like a website with embedded video, but other than that playback was continuous and reliable. But after COVID and moving to working from home, I didn’t need it; I’d watch the news on tv instead. For whatever reason, I tried to use it this morning for the first time in awhile and all of a sudden (to me anyway) it won’t play in the background if I’m using another app or if the phone is locked. What in the world possessed the developers to make this change? Now the app is completely useless. I’m not going to drain my battery keeping my phone awake to listen to news I can just as easily get somewhere else. Change it back. ETA: thanks for your response. While I’m still baffled as to why that functionality became optional, enabling background refresh did work.

Needs two immediate fixes. 1. Right now, if you are chosing a terrestrial radio station, WXYZ, and you’re using the feature where you can View Guide to go back on the stations timeline and listen to a show from a few hours ago, it’s pretty great. Except for one thing: if you stop or go away for any reason: a phone call, you have to watch a video, or you just need to pause the audio for a while, when you return to the app, it only remembers your place for a few minutes! It’s maddening. It should remember your place for at least 3 hours. Or give you a choice in settings to A) Reset immediately B) Remember my place for 3 hours C) Remember my place until I change 2. I keep getting these pointless pop up windows telling me to log in. Except… I am already logged in. This happens pretty much every day. It should be able to detect if I’m logged in, and not give me a pop up if I am. This also is maddening. I hope Audacy reads these and will make these changes. I’d give the app 5* if they fixed this stuff.

Commercial City. I used to use this app a lot to listen to my local sports radio when I lived out of town. When I say a lot I mean 4-6 hours a day minimum 5-6 days a week. I recently moved home & decided to conduct an experiment. I played my home radio along with streaming the same radio station on Audacy. Somehow there are double the commercials played on the app. Audacy will interrupt live broadcasts with the audacity to run a sting of commercials. When they are over the local radio will go to commercials so Audacy takes that time also to play string of commercials. The longest string of commercials commonly between radio show hosts on the hour have been as lengthy as 7+ minuets. Thankfully I don’t need to use this app that much anymore. If you can avoid this app & use other applications to stream whatever it is you want to stream I’d recommend it.

Horrendous. I unfortunately use this app all the time to listen to one radio station I enjoy. The rewind feature is broken frequently. Sometimes if I pause while listening to a show, as soon as I resume it jumps to live and I have to figure out where I was. Other times, I will start the app and an endless commercial loop will run and the station I chose will never start unless I close the app and re-open. It’s actually completely embarrassing that a company of this size and value can’t get the interface on their app right. It’s like the competition is twenty years ahead. This app is so brutal that it inspired me to write the first negative app review I’ve ever written. Since it’s the only way to stream the live radio I am looking for, I guess I will continue to use it, but it truly is an unacceptable experience. This company seems absolutely lost when it comes to making a great interface and useable app when compared to their peers.

Great app especially as we walk during the pandemic and need content. I was frustrated with tune in dad was looking for an alternative and I found this great app and service. It’s pretty reliable and not too glitchy and the features are fantastic including being able to access podcasts and stations and pretty much anything you want to have in your ears while you take long walks or long drives. I find it comforting to listen to something during the pandemic. Thank you The only thing I wish I could do that tune in let’s you do is to continue listening while an email or text pops up and you check but I still appreciate the service and give it top marks

New company , same garbage app. I listen to talk radio on this app. I would say freezes between 10 and 12 times an hour for four seconds each time. Most times I pause to talk to someone or answer a phone call or make a phone call it doesn’t hold my place and resets. Especially on demand. When I listen to on demand it tries to skip commercials but ends up either starting the show over or replaying the segment I had just listened to. Which is a lot of fun when you’re trying to drive let me tell you. I also get caught in advertisement loops where I’ve heard up to 10 advertisements in a row before closing the app and restarting it just to get back to the live programming. Sometimes I’ll be listening to a show and receive a phone call and the app doesn’t restart where I left off but when I play the program back it’ll restart at the beginning of the segment or the entire show. Then I have to try to fast forward and find the spot where it left off. Which once again is a lot of fun when you’re trying to drive. And that’s if the rewind and fast-forward functions actually work because a lot of times the app says it’s not connecting and everything but the play/pause button is grayed out. When the app works it’s great and I love it unfortunately I would say that’s less than half the time I use it. 3 out of 10 in baseball is batting 300 and makes you an all-star. In the app world it makes you a failure. Please fix!

Really wish this app was better. I use Audacy to listen to my sports radio mainly, because it has playback where I can listen to shows that already aired. The problem is that this app is SO glitchy. It basically never saves my spot where I was listening even if I go in and press pause. Then, it won’t let me seek through the show with the time bar, and if I try it starts playing ads that I can’t skip. I don’t mind the ads but when it doesn’t save my place and then it won’t let me find where I was it’s super annoying because then I have to skip through the whole show with the 15 second skip button. It also has terrible network connection and frequently stops when I do try to skip through it. I almost wish I could just download the shows so I don’t have to deal with it. Wish it worked more efficiently like the Apple Podcasts app.

2 months later..... I have previously used TuneIn before this app but since Enter-com Communications switched all of its stations over to their app it has made my life harder and looking at the other reviews I think others too. If you are going to switch apps 1. Please tell us you are going to switch soon so we have a heads up. 2. Make sure you have great execution of the app you are making and make SURE the consumers like it and that it works well. This app has connectivity issues all the time, sometimes it will say that it is playing and I can’t hear anything or it will play then stop then start playing again. What I do appreciate is the you release app updates often. If you can fix the bugs/crashes I think you will make a lot more people happy. To all companies and people out there. If you have something that works just fine, don’t switch things up. As he saying goes “if it isn’t broken don’t fix it”. I hope anyone who reads this has a wonderful day and don’t forget to smile. :)

Terrible app. I really dislike this app. I use it mostly with Apple CarPlay and most of the time my car’s display screen is completely blank instead of showing me what the app should be displaying. I don’t have that problem with any other app I use via CarPlay. Independent of the CarPlay experience, the app will often repeat segments of audio (like, jump backwards 10s and just restart from there) or just stop playing entirely. I can never seem to “catch up” to whatever the live audio should be. I know it won’t ever be completely caught up to what’s actually coming over AM/FM, but if I leave the car for like 20 min it’ll pick back up from where I left off and even if I try to skip ahead to where I would be if I hadn’t left the car it’ll just keep starting over from where it was when I turned my car back on. The only reason I use this app is because I literally have no other choice if I want to listen to the radio stations I like as I no longer live in the area they broadcast.

This worked great until the last “update”... I downloaded this to replace my previous live radio app that is no longer supported by Apple’s App Store. (Next Radio was better, not sure why its gone). Everything was working fine until the last update. Now this app drains my battery noticeably faster, you can’t switch between apps without the radio stream being cut off, you also can’t let your phone go in to “rest mode” (let the screen/battery saving feature do its job). The app stays open and keeps your screen on the whole time now. I guess I’ll start looking for a radio app to replace this one. They do soooo much advertising for this app, but its apparently not up to task for what most people would consider basic features. Very dissatisfied

I love it and I hate it. I love this app because I can listen to my favorite and my local stations, even when I am not in my home city. I despise this app because of the way it acts on my iPad. The jump to live button never works. It freezes constantly. Sometimes, I don’t use this app for a few days. When I return to the app, the app will pick up where it left off, even though I have disabled that function. I don’t want to listen to the news in my local area from three days ago, I want to listen to what is happening now. In order to do that, I have to power down my iPad, then power it back up so that everything resets on the iPad, just to listen to live radio. It’s more bother than it’s worth. And your pop ups are really, really annoying. If this doesn’t get better, I will be deleting Audacy and go back to SXM.

Tragically, my most used app.. This is both my most used app, and the absolute worst app I use. I stream out of market sports radio (shout out 97.1 The Ticket Detroit). It constantly crashes. It gets stuck in endless commercial loops. It goes mute, to which the only option is to start the show at the beginning, fast forward 15 seconds at a time through hours of radio until it clicks back on. It randomly doesn’t play certain shows. The new wrinkle(I assume they added this as an April fools, and due to covid-19 just forgot to shut it off) is that it plays with no audio, and the only way to get it to work is to restart my device, delete and reinstall the app, rinse and repeat until it decides to play. If there are any alternative options for radio streaming out there, please someone let me know. I cannot understate what a simmering kettle of goat droppings this app is. It was terrible years ago, and continues to get incrementally worse with each update. Pure trash. I would happily pay a few bucks for a functioning app, especially considering how frequently I use said app.

Doesn’t play nicely with iOS 15. Since I upgraded to iOS 15, this app no longer plays unless it is on screen. I can no longer listen to the Audacy radio when I am checking the weather or news. When my phone goes to the lock screen, Audacy stops playing. I’d be grateful if either Audacy or Apple might get address this! Updated review: Now, Audacy won’t play at all on my iPhone 11 running iOS 15. After several quits, it now gives silence even when the screen shows that it is playing. Although this app works fine on iOS 14, I have had to delete it from my iOS 15 phone. It’s frustrating, as one of my favorite shows is only available to stream on Audacy, and I can’t listen to it on my phone until you upgrade the app to work with iOS 15. I will try again after a week or two, but for now, Audacy is simply not usable on iOS 15. Please upgrade, I’ll revise this review when you do!

Has potential, but is VERY buggy and glitchy!!. I have never written a review for the App Store before, but this app really needs it, so my review might be quite long. I personally use it for finding new music, so I don’t listen to the podcasts nor the news, so I don’t have any experience with using those in the app. Pros: it has a fine selection of music for listening, a little bit small for my liking, but decent nonetheless. I like that there’s no ads, that’s a major plus for ANY music app! A sleep timer is nice too, although I don’t think I’d ever use it, knowing that other people seem to like it is nice to know. Cons: Like my review grabber said, this app is VERY buggy and has so much potential to grow. For an example: It’s difficult to skip and/or pause songs. It’s almost like a 10+ second delay to wait for a song to be paused or skipped. Another con, the player’s “menu”/UI bugs out very easily. You have to pull it down slowly sometimes for it to work, but other times, it works well. Last con: Sometimes it times out and crashes. It’s real annoying when you have to look for what you were just listening to when it never loaded in the first place. I hope that this app slowly gets more updates and these issues can be fixed, because I really do see myself using this more often if more issues get fixed.

Annoying. The only way I can listen to my favorite talk shows is thru this app. I wish it weren’t so because this app is frustrating. It’ll stop playing for no reason and when I look at my phone I hope to see the play arrow but instead I often see the pause icon which would leave one to believe that it was still playing. I’ll tap the icon but nothing happens so to get it going again I often have to shut it down and restart. This has been happening even before the iOS 13 updates I fear that since they have a captive audience their commitment to quality is questionable. And now I have to listen to several commercials before they connect to the talk show so I miss a couple of minutes of dialogue and this happens even after I’ve been already been listening. I’d pay for the app if they would eliminate the app commercial.

Has been awful for almost a year now. This app has been riddled with problems since they updated last summer and they have done nothing to fix it. First there was no speed setting, then it was finally added but it was so inconsistent, would disappear and when you would switch segments it would go back to original 1x speed. Speaking of segments if you are listening to previous segments of a live radio program, if you aren’t completely observant when a past segment ends more times than not it jumps to the live segment skipping everything in between. Either that or it will randomly crash. As of now their solution to the speed issue is to just disable it for 3 week. oh and now the icing on the cake is they were able to add in ads when you switch segments manually. Glad they have their priority’s in order…

Cannot stream in-market MLB games while mobile. You would think that an app that is used on mobile devices would be designed to be fully functional while mobile (i.e. using cellular networks). This app only fully functions on WiFi - a MAJOR shortcoming. My area is the home territory of three Major League Baseball (MLB) teams. Two of the team’s flagship radio stations are iHeart stations, while one of the teams is on Audacy. Unfortunately for me, I am interested in the team that is an Audacy station (the Pittsburgh Pirates on KDKA FM and KDKA AM). iHeart is able to stream live game play-by-play on both cellular and WiFi networks for in-market teams in my area. Many other audio and video streaming apps are also able to fully properly geolocate and function consistently when on both WiFi and cellular. This is not the case with Audacy. I have been working with Audacy support for a year, but they have been unable to resolve the fact that their app does not work properly while on ANY cellular network. When using any WiFi network, you receive Pittsburgh Pirates game play-by-play. However, when using any cellular network, you always receive alternate programming instead of the live game. Please let me know if there are any planned enhancements or beta applications in the near future. If this major issue would be resolved, I would rate the app much higher. But since Audacy has been unable to make any improvements over the last year, I give the app one star.

Cuts out all the time.. Buffers and cuts out all the time, and won’t reconnect. I have to shut the app down and restart. I don’t have this problem with any other streaming service. The only reason why I even attempt to use this is because WGR 550 decided to go to this inferior product. However my patience is dwindling. How hard is it to fix a problem everyone else seems to have perfected? Update 6months later What a surprise. Not working again this morning on either my phone or echo. Hire someone to fix this. It’s pathetic. Update: now it seems that commercials will kick in during the program! After the commercials then the program goes to commercial....so guess what? More commercials! I’m missing whole segments of sports interviews. Congratulations.. you did it..I’m going back to an AM radio. BTW there is no way this app has 4.6 stars. Read the other reviews.

Sleep Timer. I actually really like this app, it allows me to listen to most all of my favorite sports talk radio broadcasts. However just yesterday the app underwent a major upgrade and some format changes, one change that I found particularly disappointing was the removal of the sleep timer. I looked all over for it and could not find it on the app and when I searched Google I found out a decision was made to no longer include a sleep timer in the new format. I personally found this a very nice feature and would often set the timer for one hour at night while I would go to sleep listening to a sports show. I hope the developers of the app would reconsider the alarm/sleep timer portion of the app and add it back in. DJJ Since I wrote this review the developers have contacted me and advised they are updating the app to include the sleep timer feature, what great customer service, you made this listener feel heard.

Stop adding features and fix the bugs. This is, and has always been, the worst high profile app I have ever used. Nothing, NOTHING works right in this app. It doesn’t even work correctly with the audio controls on the Lock Screen — stopping, starting, skip forward or back DO NOT WORK on the Lock Screen; you have to unlock and go back to the app. Any kind of streaming breaks the app — to a HomePod, to an Apple TV, to CarPlay, it is ALL broken. Streaming to an Apple TV will stop when the Apple TV goes to screen saver — no correctly programmed audio app does that. CarPlay will just open the app to a blank screen on the car display. How can this app have been around for 12+ years and still be this completely broken? For the love of God, developers, stop adding new features and just fix the stupid app. If I had any other way to listen to some of my favorite radio stations, I would have stopped using this app A DECADE AGO.

Works great and easy to use. I was super bummed that they removed their stations from Tunein because I had a one stop shop for all of my radio listening needs. I decided to download the app while on vacation so I could listen to my favorite radio show and I decided to give it a try. It actually worked really well. I spent some time on it adding stations and searching through their content. There is a lot of good live and curated stations that I really enjoy. It was not hard to navigate and I kinda like the simple way it operates. There’s no popup ads trying to get you to subscribe to a premium subscription ( I don’t think there is one) and you find a station and click listen and it works. Not bad at all.

Horrendous!!. hor·ren·dous /həˈrendəs,hôˈrendəs/ adjective extremely unpleasant, horrifying, or terrible. "The app is so glitchy it’s horrendous" The content is a 10, the app is a -10. It’s the worst streaming app I’ve ever used. It constantly freezes, and the soft buttons don’t work at times. On several occasions, I was trying to rewind a part of the show by using the 15-second rewind soft button and the show would go ahead 15 seconds instead. 🤦🏻‍♂️ Several times I’ve been put through a loop of commercials for my entire ride. By the time I got to my destination all that I heard was endless commercials in a loop. I used to be able to pause the show, go in and get a coffee and when I came back out the show was where I left off. Not now! The app jumps to the next show or to another portion of the show or starts the show from the beginning. Then I have to waste time to find the portion of the show I was listening to. The app is so glitchy it’s ridiculous! Today I’m trying to listen to my favorite show from the beginning but it keeps jumping back to Live. And yes my signal is good. Do the people that developed the app use it? They had the nerve sending me a survey asking how much I would be willing to pay to use the app. The lowest choice was 99 cents. They should be paying me to use this app. It’s a disaster! I'll listen to my shows on AM radio again before I pay for this app. 😡👎🏻

Needs consistency and fixes for podcasts. It used to be simple and easy to listen to my favorite 6a radio show beginning at 9a on the former app. However the audacy app sometimes loads segments from the show within hours but many times is takes days. If audacy does load the show timely when I play hour 1 of the show it doesn't move to hour 2. It will then play hour 4 of the day before. Tech support told me to not hit the fwd button but hit the back button and it will play hour 2 but it doesn’t, it plays the last segment played. It makes driving and listening dangerous and frustrating as I always have to restart the station then the podcast and manually choose the next segment when I start hearing old items discussed.

Awful app, unstable, never works. Apple needs to do something about ratings. 4.5 star rating is completely laughable. It’s a bunch of company employees rating it 5 stars to artificially boost the rating. Completely misleading. If you want the real reviews on this, filter by most recent and read any of the reviews. There are a number of problems with this app and it seems the problems change almost weekly. Requires creating an account to play, app crashes regularly, advertisements cut into live feed and completely random. Most days the feature to go back and play a specific time doesn’t work at all or if you do, the app has this odd 10-15 play back loop you get stuck in just listening to the same section over and over. Feels like its 1 guy in his basement working on this app in his free time and this isn’t his day job. Absolute failure of an app.

Lots of potential, but frustrating. I use this app primarily to listen to WFAN’s sports talk content. I could listen on the radio, but my schedule makes it more convenient to listen via streaming. I have two main frustrations: 1) is difficulty finding content, like Richard Neer’s Saturday and Sunday broadcasts, on the app. If I use the search feature in the app to search “Richard Neer” or “Neer” nothing comes up. So instead, I have to Google, put in “Richard Neer” and search thru several results to find a link that will bring me to his Audacy content, usually via an Apple podcasts link. This method usually works, but not always, and it’s cumbersome. Frustration number 2 is more serious: the app frequently freezes or drops out, especially at commercial breaks, and if I try to rewind during a delayed stream, the app often takes me to the live station stream, and it’s impossible to go back to find my place. For example, I was listening to Neer interviewing someone this morning, and I tried to hit the “rewind 15 seconds”’button, and it took me to the live stream. I have NO PROBLEM listening to ads - I know the app needs to get revenue somehow. So let us listen to the ads! Instead, when I get to the ads, the app freezes or crashes half of the time. Fix these issues and it goes to 5 stars; as is, it’s too frustrating to rate higher than 2 stars.

Too many buttons to get started. Once it starts to stream it’s really good. Never have any issues with stopping in the middle of the show. My only complaint is there’s too many buttons you have to click on the on your start streaming. I mostly listen to various radio stations when I’m in the car. If I haven’t already opened the app on my phone the stations don’t show up on the car display. Then I have to find and start the station while I’m at a red light, but there seems to be one button after another. Fix the app with car play. Can you create a favorite stations list that just starts the station right away with no hassle?

Shorty, result of monopoly on network deals. This is the FOURTH time I’ve come back to review this app. Functionally it makes me want to put my fist through a wall. It does the exact opposite of what I want at any given time. It is terrible. Traps you in endless internet style ad loops multiple times a day. Forgets where you are during playback. Just came back to say this app is still terrible. Endless national ad loops played over local ads and local shows. Tells me to log on and then tells me I’m already logged on. Doesn’t remember my favorite stations. The only reason this app exists is to make ad money for executives. It is not made to play radio stations effectively. If you could access the same stations from a different app, you would. Came back months later while stuck in an endless national ad loop to say this app is still terrible and I don’t even understand how it’s legal to pirate radio stations when ever they choose.

The good the bad the ugly. The good is I get to catch the ONLY station I listen to on here because it’s not available anywhere else. The bad is whether I’m home on wifi or on the road (truck driver) this app since the station switched to it has ALWAYS and CONTINUALLY lets me down because it stops like it crashes interrupting what I’m listening to. I can’t go back using the 15 sec button because that doesn’t work properly and it takes forever then that stops. Continual buffering is a huge problem also. The ugly is you guys haven’t fixed this bug yet I’ve been listening over a year and it’s never been addressed. I know the station I listen to can’t be the only problem on here. There’s got to be other people and things they listen to going through the same thing. PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUE! (maybe my bad and ugly review parts should be switched) also I’m on spectrum wifi with the highest package no issues and my cell is on 5g with Verizon and a iPhone 12 Pro max so it’s not me.

Too many bugs. They’re lucky I didn’t give 1 star. I only use this app to listen to 1 station and it’s so inconsistent, I rarely waste my time. It automatically tries to play my favorite station when I open the app which is fine. But half the time, it fails to load. While casually listening, it’ll randomly freeze and stop playing. But once I hit pause and play, it resumes as if there wasn’t a problem. Other times, it’ll continuously run ads for minutes until I stop it. Other times while listening to a live stream, it’ll rewind itself to the beginning of the stream without warning me. I only realize it if I’ve been listening from the beginning and start to hear things I’ve heard before. These issues could be overlooked if it weren’t such a constant occurrence. I drive for a living spending 8-14 hours a day on the road and I can rarely get through a couple hours without an issue arising. I thought when they change to Audacy, things would get better but it’s the same app with a new logo

Practically unusable. Obviously the developers of this app don’t use it. If they did, they would have fixed the myriad of problems this app is plagued with. App doesn’t restart after an interruption and on the occasion it does, it comes back at some other place in the program you were listening to or into an ad. Speaking of ads; there are times where after opening the app you are inundated with a countless number of advertisements that seem to never end. Particularly frustrating when you just want to listen to the news at the top or bottom of the hour. Or, as you’re in the middle of listening to a news segment it switches over to another repetitive ad and brings you back to the program at another point. Additionally, the functions do not work as they should when cycling through different segments of a program. There are so many more problems with this app if the developers would just spend some time listening they would be aware and would work to solve them. All of the problems I have experienced have to do with live streaming live radio programs. I wouldn’t even consider using Audacy for podcasts.

Audacy Radio. I used this when it was Rdio and then I downloaded when it switched. Although this app is many times more stable than the older one was I gotta say this. I’m REALLY disappointed in the commercials. Not in having them. But In every single break in my local market I’m being spammed with the same commercial over and over and over again. To the tune of as many as 5 or 6 times in a row I hear the same commercial. Every time they break. Either it’s Olivia Munn, or the being a dad, or now the newest one which is the whole rewind that they’re doing for 9-11. I totally get the self promotion aspect of the industry. But this is so much spam that I’m seriously done using this app. I can’t take the same commercial 50 times and hour. Either fix this issue or sorry. You lost a customer cause I’ll go back to radio. At least there I can hear a mix of commercials

Good but frustrating and disappointing.. Please read other reviewers frustrating reviews as of recent (Jan-Apr 2022). I am experiencing the same things as them. Below are a few positive experiences though I utilize this app because my local sports radio station WFAN 660AM is on it. So even when I’m not in the car, I can listen to my favorite sports talk radio station. The rewind feature is useful if I miss a segment or interview, and having each show upload “segments”as podcast sound bites is useful too so I can catch up later if I want too. What is frustrating is that sometimes this app does not play when the phone screen is locked. This forces me to restart my phone and log out of my account and then back in. Last year I was super excited when I learned that I would be able to listen to the AM radio broadcast of the Yankee game. This is the most frustrating thing….I live within broadcast metro area and sometimes I can listen to the game and sometimes it says I’m “out of the broadcast region” even when I’m listening in a location where it’s worked before. This is a big turn off for me and has me looked for the Yankee radio stream elsewhere. I have the location-service feature turned on, and I’ve even pre-selected the region to see if that would work in the app settings and it doesn’t work. This is extremely frustrating because radio broadcasts should be available no matter the situation.

Certain commercials play and it freezes my audio while listening to a station. The past 2 weeks, certain commercials (JC Penney and others) cause my audio to freeze and I almost always have to go to the beginning of a program and start from the beginning, then try to find where I last listened. I understand that when an “advertisement” is playing, we cannot fast forward but we are being punished by the app/audio freezing after having to listen to the commercial... often the same commercial we’ve had to listen to more times that I’d care to remember, during the same show. Really a big negative for me, more because of the hassle of attempting to reset back to last listen.

Audacy. A great app for listening to local radio or podcasts. In my case it’s WSCR and WXRT. The sound is great and the signal, at times, perfect. On the other hand, there are some issues. For example, when you select to listen live, it often tries to force you back to where you were previously. Listen live should mean listen live. Also, I find that the service will abruptly stop at times. This is often when one show starts and another ends. I find this annoying because some of the shows I listen to will feature crosstalk between the departing and incoming shows, which is a joy of mine. The shows will also inexplicably jump back in time or repeat parts. Maybe it’s the cell service, I don’t know. At any rate, it’s where my shows are and when it’s working, it’s great, warts and all.

User experience is erratic. Playback is sometimes fine, but other times extremely frustrating. Program playback will sometimes spontaneously stop playing, at a commercial break or just in the middle of a segment. There doesn’t appear to be a discernible pattern as to when or why this happens. When that happens and you hit play to restart, it either will not start at all, or restarts from the beginning. When it decides to restart from the beginning even though you just want playback to continue from where it spontaneously stopped, the playback timeline incorrectly shows you’re restarting at the point it froze. Very aggravating. Also, sometimes the timeline slider will not allow you to move it at all. When that happens you have to pick a different program, and then go back to the program you’re listening to, or sometimes kill and restart the app. In either case you need to make a mental note of where you were in the timeline slider so you can get back to the right place after restarting the program or the app. The playback feature is a great feature when it works. When it doesn’t, the behavior it exhibits is very aggravating and is a bad user experience.

Why the 1 Star?. I live in the Bay Area and my girlfriend lives in Las Vegas. We travel a lot back and forth and even stopping in LA and San Diego from time to time. We really like listening to San Diego’s Sunny 98.1! 70s•80s•90s it gets us thru very long drives and also while we work all day together. The app today didn’t want to play anything. I had to collapse the app multiple times and when the station played the music would go in and out and even stopping to the point I had to go back into the app to hit play again. For the most part the app works. But I’ve noticed it’s rarely ever playing for a long period of time without me having to constantly pick up my phone and hit play again and wait for the app to load the station. I’m happy this app exist cause it has my girlfriends favorite radio station :) just please fix the app.

Great iPhone radio app, awful CarPlay implementation. I spend at least 3 hours driving daily. This app is the only one compatible with CarPlay that offers 1010 wins, so it was a no brained, but unfortunately the CarPlay implementation is more of a gimmick than anything. Favorite radios should be the first item in the list, that, or show them as icons immediately when opening the app, instead with have to browse trough the screen multiple menus to select a radio. We are driving remember? Where is the usability? The worst thing with this app however is the black screen I get 80% of the time when I touch the app icon on the CarPlay screen, the app works but the screen is empty. The only way I have to start listening to the radio I want is holding the phone and searching for the radio I want trough it, not the screen of CarPlay because there is nothing there. This is infuriating, and not an issue with my phone or car as I thought first. I tested it with my wife and kids iPhones (we all have different models) and our two cars, and it’s always the same issue. I tested it with a friend’s car and it’s the same thing. I’m pretty sure this is a great app as a stand-alone working with the phone, but please fix the CarPlay functionality.

Crashes constantly. Plays when closed. Won’t stop playing.. The media networks who have contracts with Audacy should cancel with cause. It’s impossible to listen without the app stopping, ALL the time. I’m forced to use this garbage app to hear a favorite station daily. I’ve used Audacy for years, since my station moved from TuneIn. Audacy has been garbage with the SAME problems for years now. It’s so fun hitting stop on my phones home screen only to have the app refuse to stop playing - it forces to close the app entirely or in some cases, restart the phone. The app drops radio streams as if it’s a buffering problem (I have 60gb free space), and hitting play again, if it even causes a reaction from the app, only streams for another millisecond. If you want to keep playing you have to close and restart the app. If Audacy devoted even half the time to software engineering that they do to post worthless customer service responses to App Store reviews, the app would work properly like all of their competitors. Apple should remove this garbage permanently.

So poorly designed. I’ve given this app two ratings and both were super poor. I live in the country away from my favorite radio stations, and have to stream the ones I listen to. They offer “full podcasts” of shows like Sarah & Vinnie but upload them in LITERALLY 1 min segments. One from earlier today is 56 seconds. How can I even work if I have to constantly go back into the app and go to the next minute? It used to be in segment blocks with commercials, which was WAY better because at least you could turn it on in the background and let it run. This app is also poorly designed because if you ever go to another app while a show is running, you start back at home and have to hit go through 3 clicks to get back where you were. Also, many times it glitches and even my 7 year old catches that it repeats a 20 second segment when trying to listen live. I don’t think the designers actually use this app because it isn’t user friendly or efficient. Two thumbs down, but I have to use it because it’s the only one that streams the shows I could hear when I used to live in the city.

Excellent 4 out of 5. I would give this app a 5 out of 5 if it did not freeze as much as it does when the device sits in the same place. The other thing that needs to be fixed when looking for radio station articles or announcements the app will back u out or shutdown. I know it sounds big but it is not. It makes having to restart the app every hr or so when played for an extended time period a pain. Also when it freezes and it is the only playing in the background in office it makes it a pain because someone is always yelling fix the app which disturbs the entire office. Fix these two things and I’ll change to 5 out of 5. Thanks for the good one currently. Sorry one last thing does not effect stars. Please let listeners know when not going to have sports games streaming on it. Thanks

Brilliant concept but not well executed. Audacy is a brilliant concept that is not well executed. Here are the main issues: 1) It’s location feature isn’t reliable as I often get local ads that are 3000 miles away from me. When this is happening, you can reboot the phone to your heart’s content but nothing ever changes. 2) I walk for an hour or more every day and listen to Audacy. The insane repetition of the same ads over and over again cause great pains for listeners. In an hour, I will hear the same law firm ad about 10 times. Often, the very same ad is repeated two and three consecutive times. This is unacceptable. If an Audacy executive were subjected to this torture, heads would certainly roll. As a listener, it strengthens my resolve to never ever patronize that advertiser which is clearly not the desired outcome. Do better, Audacy !!!

Needs accessibility enhancements or improvements. I download this app at the suggestion of a friend of mine. I like it but it needs some serious accessibility improvements. Those of us that use voiceover which is a talking part of the iOS need to know what we are doing and how to get favorites. Also, the pictures that are shown on the screen aren’t labeled properly so voiceover doesn’t know how to tell those of us who are blind or visually impaired what the object on screen is. I hope that the developers of this app will take this feedback and give it some consideration. Maybe even write a response back to this review. I would love to talk to them. Also, our speech says that there are buttons twice. Is this true? Or is this a bug in the application when it comes to using voiceover? I am not able to get in touch with intercom‘s corporate offices to speak to them about this application so I’m hoping that someone will read this review and get back to me as previously stated.

Rewind feature. I’m writing this review since I actually use this app daily now that the put the rewind feature in. Also, I only use the app to listen to wfan. They finally caught up to the times and made their content sort of on demand now with the 24 hour rewind feature. It works great, but the reason I made it 4 stars instead of 5 is the fact that when you pause it for more than a couple minutes, the app will not hold your place correctly. For example if I pause and come back after 10 seconds or so it’s fine, but if I pause the stream and come back 5 or 20 minutes later it will either take me to the begging of the previous segment, or the beginning of the next segment. It won’t just stay where i paused it in the middle of a program.

Newest version. Update: sent a message to the developers and they made some changes and they actually continued to give me periodic updates on the progress. They’ve since fixed the issue of having to continually delete and reload the app when it freezes up. Fingers crossed that it stays this way. Thank developers for listening. I’ve really enjoyed having this app so don’t take my 1 star review the wrong way. I need to listen to traffic in Philadelphia when coming out of South Jersey so I can get the Philly news station that updates traffic reports every 10 minutes. The latest update changed the entire look of the app. Since this last update, I’ve had nothing but issues. I have to reboot my phone, delete the app and reload it just to get it to start working, and even then the options are minimal. It won’t let me get to my favorites. The only thing it will let me do is search for the station I want. Then, if I get a phone call, it pauses like normal, but then I have to go through the process of rebooting and other steps to get it working again. I’m sure I’m not the only one having issues. Please fix the and I will update my review.

Gets worse every time they update. Every time this app gets updated it gets less intuitive and less stable. The most recent version likes to travel forward and back through time without telling you. Enjoying live radio? Let me jump to the show that was on 8hrs ago. Catching up on the morning show you missed? Let’s cut back to live radio while you’re driving. And we decided that getting back to your station shouldn’t be a 1 button process anymore. So during its frequent crashes and misbehaving while driving, you are stuck or forced to be a dangerous driver while you figure what mood the app is in. I wish my favorite station would ditch this app completely and go back to their own software which was great. But corporation seldom act in the best interest of their costumers.

Update Add Worse. I never review things. Almost. But this went from 4 stars to 2 as they started forcing ads if I was listening late, behind on a live broadcast or even on demand for my fav station. Can’t even CD hangers try around. Stuck with a pop up saying I can’t switch segments during an ad. But now down to 1 star. It’s worse in just a week. Got a pop up the other day for an ad survey. I thought maybe they heard all the users’ disdain. But it was just to ask whether to serve my related content ads or just random. I too. Nothing of it. But now I get ads mid show, mid segment. 20 minute segment today. It just paused and went to your ads. Already listening to the station’s broadcast ads. But now I had to wait 2 minutes for ads to now be behind on the live show. Because Audacy made it convenient to pause for me. So I wouldn’t miss anything. But no, worse is that now being 2-3 minutes behind. I tried to just skip ahead with the 15 second button. After 5 presses or so, still behind about 2 minutes. It kicked in 4 more locked ads. This is outrageous. I’m out and will make sure to highlight the bad app this had become in a short month. No support or recommendations for this in my socials. Shame that you’ve ruined a great app.

Great App until....... Since the last update I can’t login. It ask me to login and when I put my email in and password it says that my email already has an account. No kidding. I know that! It never tells me if my password is incorrect or not, which it probably is since I haven’t had to login in 2 years. No where does it give me the option of changing passwords. It just keeps saying the same thing. “The email is already linked to an account”. I even went to the actual website. When I click that I forgot my password it brings me to the same screen that the app did, and guess what it says when I put my email in? You guessed it. At least the website will still let you listen without logging in.

Constant problems. This is probably one of the worst apps I have used. It’s so bad for me personally that I’m doing my first ever app review for it. Constantly drops out for me (I know your thinking bad service but happens with full service in a 5G area all the time) also won’t load most times if I haven’t fully closed out the app so I have to fully close out the app and have it reopen constantly. I’m not talking after hours of none use either. Even after I go into a corner store for a minute. Really too bad because the sports talk station I like for my area doesn’t come in for me on the radio so I was really pumped for this app. It’s leaves me wanting way more every time I use it. It’s nice when it works but that’s about a quarter of the time.

Latest Version is. Problem. I was using Audacy for my Nets games and had switched other podcasts to it because it worked well with my car, and only was to remotely listen to the Mets. With the update, it deleted all my saved stations and podcasts. I don’t fell like recreating them again on Audacy, and it’s tough to navigate through it to find things. Also the image on the screen is now tiny, so if I play Alt 92 radio I have trouble seeing the song being played. And my poor Mets ! There is now some sort of time slot breaking down the game. It switches between Live and not live, and when I switch back to live it crashes. It’s the one thing left on Audacy that I want to listen to, and now I can’t.

I can’t do it anymore!. This app does not work for me. I want to call it terrible, but I don’t want to generalize. Maybe it works great for other people. It is amazing at playing commercials, but as soon as the show comes back on, it goes dark (no sound). It might start playing again or it might not. Oh and if you have a alarm go off when you shut it off will start playing an earlier segment (not live). I can’t listen to the shows I want because I can’t count on this “app” to do what it’s supposed to do. Oh and those commercials- I really get sick of same 5 or 6 ads. What’s really cool is that they play ads to download the Audacy app while you are literally using the Audacy app! LOL!! Do the developers ever test this app? Maybe a dev can look at my metadata to see what’s broke. Investing in a good AM/FM radio.

Good but repetitive ads annoying. The app works well on both my iPhone and Alexa as I use it to listen to a Chicago sports radio station. However, I am ready to dig out my old AM radio again just to avoid hearing the same ads 2 or 3 times every commercial break. Also, there are times where I want to go back 30 seconds or a minute to hear something again, but the ap takes me back 20-30 minutes and I’m forced to listen to another set of ads. I try to drag the stream forward back to where I was and get another set of ads. Really annoying. Works fine when you just let it play, but I have issues when pausing or going back.

Rarely works!. This app rarely connects in the car via CarPlay and when it does, generally it loses connection even with full cellular coverage on my phone. It can never be forced opened over CarPlay if the app is not open in the background on your phone rendering hands-free useless. When it does connect, it’s almost impossible to get to a live feed of a broadcast. Audacy has some serious work to do to update this application as it is a far cry from what it used to be when it first came out, and even then it wasn’t great. Unfortunately the station that I listen to most often is a CBS station that is being ripped off any other free radio app that is out on the market. Guess I’m going to have to find something else to listen to. Too bad CBS!

Used to be OK.. Used to use it to listen to AM stations when the radio signal was weak. It was alright when I could just open the app and listen to it. The comercials were horrible but that was a trade off I was willing to live with. Now they demand that you provide them an e mail address (probably for them to sell to other companies) and create an account and it’s just not worth it. I’m sure that somewhere buried at the bottom of the fine print in their multi page privacy policy is a way to opt out of your information being sold, but for me it just isn’t worth the inconvenience. If I am going to go through that hassle, there are many more and better streaming services to choose from.

Sad; used to be great app. How many 1 star reviews will it take to work the overall rating down to realty. The app is clearly broken at its core based on all the recent reviews. Doesn’t work with CarPlay anymore and requires multiple restarts. This all started several updates ago. I deleted the app several months ago but came back hoping issues had been fixed but that’s not the case. Sound like it’s getting worse. It’s nice the developers respond but it’s obvious there is no fixing what prior updates broke. Seems to have started back around the time reg was required. Anyway the best answer is to just delete so their number of installations goes down. Don’t just let it sit on your phone get rid of it.

Always a problem. The rewind feature works so well you don’t even have to tell it when to rewind. Several times an hour it just goes back a ways and starts playing what you’ve already listened to. Almost always happens during commercial breaks which is great when you want to hear the same four ads over and over and don’t feel like hearing the actual live content you turned the app on for. This app works great on my smart tv, just not on my phone. Never has. If I can get the station I want over AM radio I usually do that even if it means some signal interference, because I know I don’t have to restart the app while I’m trying to drive.

It’s a really good app. It’s taken me a little while to warm up to this app. I was a heavy Tunein user because I love my radio stations and I started traveling for work. When everyone split up it was a challenge to work it all from 3 apps. I recently took a road trip and really dove deep into this app. It’s loaded with great content and I love the rewind feature. I found great stations to listen to and follow. I still have my list of home stations and sports teams that I follow. It’s a really clean interface and not that hard to learn. It’s becoming my favorite radio /music app.

Needs improvement. I only downloaded this app to listen to the smiley morning show everyday because this is the only platform they broadcast content on, but honestly the app is so irritating. It constantly has delays, pauses, randomly shuts down, etc. I also have AirPods so I can’t even remove a pod to scratch my ear without it playing a freaking 30 second commercial when I put the pod back in. By then I’ve missed the whole skit. They also play additional commercials on top of what the actual company plays. The only reason I gave this two stars is because it plays the station I like to listen to when I’m not driving in my car, but I would rather buy a radio and tune it to my fave station than use this app.

barely adequate, but what are you gonna do?. Don't be surprised if you get frustrated of you're doing anything other than listening to the live stream of the station. If you hear something OTA, and want to continue to listen on the stream, good luck with that, you might have to listen to a stream-only ad first, this missing part of the program. The Rewind feature doesn't always help for that, because the recording sometimes has minutes of dropouts. Sometimes you tap on controls (e.g. pause) and it's ignored. Because of the dropouts, the fwd/back 15 secs sometimes jumps around by minutes instead of seconds, and is generally a mess. Since the company doesn't do a standard stream, therefore you need this app, what are you gonna do? Rewind IS nice...when it works.

Repetitive Ads that cut off the news stories before completed. I only listen to one station on this app. I listen to it every morning driving into work. WWJ950. The number of times you hear the same ad over and over and over is extremely frustrating. It will sometimes play the same exact ad back to back three times in a row. Just lately, these repetitive ads have started cutting into the news stories before they are even finished. It’s not even close. It seems to cut them off about halfway through their story. I am about to go back to listening to the station through the radio instead of this app.

No CarPlay support. I used to love the Audacy app and used it daily. A few releases ago, it shows as a blank screen on my carplay head unit. The unit was older, and I received a new one as a gift. To my dismay, the same issue occurred on the new unit. When I reached out to Audacy support, they informed me that CarPlay has not been supported for a few revisions. I don’t understand how a radio app could not support an interface where possibly many of its users spend a significant amount of time to enjoy their product. I love my local radio stations and would use this most of the time if CarPlay was supported. But it now begs the question; why use this when Apple Music or Pandora work so well and offer multiple interfaces? Audacy Dev- please enable CarPlay interface in your next release! I will up the rating when CarPlay enabled.

Plays ads well, everything else not so much. This app seems fine tuned to serve ads, but not actually play content. It consistently freezes, skips around, crashes, etc. However, it never misses an opportunity to serve me an ad. I’m starting to believe that these “glitches” are planned so you need to restart the feed and get another ad served. Pretty smart move on Audacy’s part. Have not seen any noticeable improvement in this app over the years. It’s disappointing that this is the only way for me to listen live to a non-local radio station. I’ve started waiting for the podcasts to be released, as the podcast app is so much more stable. Please focus on stability over ad impressions in the future.

THIS APP IS HORRIBLE. I used to listen to Boomer and Carton (now Boomer and gio) on the tune in app which was amazing. They switched to audacy some time ago. This app always has connectivity issues, always crashes always freezes it's incredibly bad. Perhaps the most annoying thing is when you use the rewind feature. I'll be listening to a show that aired earlier, pause it and if you opens different app while it's paused or accidentally lock your phone the app jumps to live and you lose your spot and have to rewind again, this is crazy how this isn't fixed. Also when you use rewind and fast forward it will say you're listening to a certain time but in fact it's actually something you've already heard then you have restart the rewind process all over again. HORRIBLE. FIX YOUR APP.

Needs Apple Watch support and other fixes.. This app has had its ups and downs for me. I use it every day because it’s my only choice to listen to the show I like. It only works on my iPhone/iPad ( I exclusively use my iPhone)so if I want to leave the house and want to leave my phone at home, I can’t stream from my cellular enabled Apple Watch. On top of that, if I get a call or an alarm goes off, the stream will not resume playing automatically after the call or after dismissing it. Sometimes I can hit play from the lock screen, other times I must force quit the app to get it to resume playing. This is all on an XS Max running most up to date iOS. It Could be great but it’s mediocre at best and more frustrating than anything.

Unlistenable at times, glitchy glitchy glitchy. I’ve used this app for a couple of years and it used to be pretty good, it’s not anymore. I use this to listen to a news radio station. The stream I’m listening to will randomly drop all the time. I had it on for 3 hours today and it stopped 4 times. Then you have to go restart the app to continue listening. This happens multiple times a day when I have it playing. Sometimes it only happens once a listening session, and sometimes it happens multiple times an hour. Sometimes when it drops and I open it back up, it starts playing a segment from earlier in the day, and won’t allow me to go to the live segment. It also, randomly and often, will rewind 30 seconds or more. When I say often, I mean it will do it 1-3 times every commercial break, and sometimes during a broadcast segment. Sometimes it gets so far behind because it keeps rewinding, that it will automatically jump back to live, but in doing so it’s skipped a number of minutes forward. Apparently this is not an isolated issue as I look through these reviews.

Worst audio app. It’s really a joke how bad this app is, especially considering what a massive company is behind it. It constantly crashes! If you pause a show and try to restart it a short time later, you lose your place in the show probably 50% of the time, so you constantly have to manually find where you left off. This app needs a LOT of work. The Audacy app has stunk since it’s launch but this morning finally drove me nuts enough to come here and write a review. Unfortunately, if you enjoy some of the shows they offer, there aren’t many better options out there to listen to it. At the end of the day, the shortcomings definitely lead me to listen less (goodbye adverting dollars! 💸💸

You would think audio app would be handy for visually impaired. Hello, i have managed to sign up for an account that was anightmare finally i have the app going and that is even worse. This app has absoluty no intent to be any help to visually impaired . I use Voice Over from apple on my iphone that makes it possible to run your finger over the screen and get audio feedback so you know what you can click on by listening. This app does not assist you in this way its so many items are not labeled and you dont know what to click on or where in the app you are. This app should have a complete redo for accessibility mode not just for Voice Over but also Talk Back for indroid so blind and visually impaired audiance can enjoy listening too cause thats all we have left. Thanks mak

Still not impressed. I’ve been using this app for a few months now...and I’m still not impressed. Not sure why the developers won’t add the option to pause the radio station I’m listening to. I miss that option the most since being forced to leave Tunein. Also, if I’m listening to the app through a Bluetooth speaker, when I turn the speaker off...the app quits playing on my phone and won’t start back up again when I hit play. When this app crashes, I usually have to completely restart my phone. With all the low ratings and complaints you would think they would fix things. I guess since most of us are stuck with them, they don’t have to.

New features. App is okay, it does what it’s supposed to do allow you to listen to radio stations but it seems as with this last update 11.3.1 while listening on an iPad their annoying “what’s new prompts” appear and the only way to clear them is by clicking “next”. Well no problem for the prompts that appear in the middle of the screen, what about the ones that aren’t centered and the next is shifted off screen...no luck! I’ve been stuck on the “we’ve added audio sharing” prompt for the past week very annoying as these prompts render audio rewind in operable. Yeah I’ve contacted support, uninstalled/reinstalled app several times to no avail.

Cannot “pause/play” on lock screen. One simple feature this app lacks that should’ve been a no brainer to be included is that while listening to a radio station using the app, and your phone is locked, there is no “pause/play” button available from the lock screen. You have to go into the app itself to access the pause/play button. This is extremely annoying bc I’m usually on the go using the app and when i want to stop the radio from playing i don’t like to have to go thru these extra steps, I want to be able to stop radio play from the lock screen. Pandora and iTunes have this technology of being able to pause or play your music from the lock screen so one would expect this feature to be industry standards but I guess not. This review is from an iPhone user.

Why am I required to sign in Now?. The app used to work fine before I was required to set up an account to listen. I am not interested in setting up yet another account that I have to log in. Prior this was not a requirement. I was fine with not being able to save favorites without having an official account, the platform only has 1 station that I listen to. There are so many commercials on the platform so selling my personal information shouldn’t be required as another revenue stream. I would understand being required to set up an account if this platform offered something that other listening platforms don’t. Will be deleting since it is useless without signing up for an account.

Unusable app…developers please read. The new version of this app is truly the most atrocious update. It took an already barley usable platform and removed some features and created an even more buggy and hard to navigate experience. All I want to do is stream my favorite station and listen to old episodes and this app makes it next to impossible and incredibly frustrating. Incredibly disappointing. -doesn’t actually jump to live -doesn’t allow access to listen to older shows -rewind feature is buggy and doesn’t work -no longer allows you to listen on an apple HomePod -multiple button clicks to just start listening This is the most trash app. All the other reviews below me seem to paint the same picture.

Media Controls Barely Work, Audio Starts Randomly. Edit 2: After the latest update, the app playback usually ignores the iOS play/pause controls in the Lock Screen/Command Center/etc. Worse, playback often restarts randomly after it is paused, resulting in the radio randomly playing from your pocket, requiring the app to be reopened to stop it. Edit: There is absolutely no reason to force your users to create accounts just to listen to the radio. Listening to the same 3 ads over and over is insufferable enough without making them targeted. The background play issues referenced originally still exist. Streams hang constantly, and background play crashes whenever it’s paused. Every time our radio stations get bought, the apps get worse.

Just Not Good. It truly baffles me that this app has any five-star reviews. It stops working constantly, like just stops playing and won’t work again until I close out of the app and restart it, and then sometimes still doesn’t work. The function to click on past parts from a radio show that’s currently on is completely useless and just doesn’t do anything when you click on the little time stamps to go back. It freezes all the time too. I wish I could put a screen recording into this review to show just how completely useless and frustrating this app is. So far I think today I’ve closed out and restarted it five or six times and still can’t get it to work.

It could be so much better. This app has the potential to be great but falls very short with being able to consistently deliver what you require as a listener. The connection whether it’s WiFi or LTE is spotty, even when I’m not moving around or in my car. Example: I would be listening to the news and the app will just decide to cut out for 30 seconds to a minute or longer with radio silence, leaving me wondering what I missed and ultimately making it difficult to keep following that conversation since the disruption caused you to miss a ton of information upon reconnecting. They also took away the lock screen functionality that allowed me to switch between stations without opening the app. They’re basically making you open the app and select a new station or having you just sit through the same redundant commercials over and over again, which are god awful. It is free so as far as some of these issues go I can blame it on that I guess. I also work for a software company and see some of these issues as easy fixes to make using the app much more functional and user-friendly.

Dreadful. If you like listening to bits and pieces of whatever you are trying to listen to on the radio, then this app is for you. Typically it takes between 5-10 minutes to connect on initial start up and then you can expect the signal to drop about 7 or 8 times each hour. I’ve tried running this app on new phones & new tablets and had zero luck. I primarily use this app late at night on a Wi-Fi network where I am the only user. The signal could not be any stronger if I wanted it to be. Other streaming apps such a as Pandora, Netflix, Hulu..you name it has ZERO problem staying connected. Early on, this app may have been well developed which is why the ratings are so high. Now? There are MUCH BETTER OPTIONS. Save yourself the space in your device and skip this one.

Terrible App, Stay Away If Possible. In a world where most changes are touted as an improvement, here’s an example of it not being true. This app falls terribly short from the previous TuneIn app. The designers/decision makers seem to not understand why consumers use the previous product, and created an alternative that was good for the company but not the consumers who use it. Functionality is terrible in the following ways: 1) constant connectivity issues —-> it takes way to long to start playing and with no buffering it cuts in an out. 2) user interface is not helpful—> I push play and have to guess (or just wait) to hear sound.. it can take up to 30 seconds using WiFi. 3) if you miss a comment you can not go back 10 or 15 seconds to hear what was missed. 4) where’s the pause button? I received a phone call while listening to the Gary Parish show and missed 2 segments since I couldn’t pause the show. 5) and speaking of no pause option, what ever happened to buffering? I could go on, but I hope my point was made, and you stay away from this app. I’m sure this app saves the communication company money, but it’s at the expense of quality and functionality to their customers.

I’d like it more. I like the different type of content available on the app. I’d like it more if some obvious bugs were fixed. For example I like the rewind feature since I can’t always listen live but it just stops after one of the commercial breaks and then when you hit play it restarts back at the beginning of the program. On the National mix programs it will stop about 30 second after starting and just pause and when you hit play it restarts at the beginning. Also it will stop a number of song in and just restart playing the same series of songs. Good app but frustrating

Continually Having Issues When Streaming. The app has gotten better (now has that time when you are rewinding the stream and has live programs broken up in chapters). The issue I continually have now is, when listening to live streams with a buffer (pausing weei while I’m busy then restarting for example) I constantly have issues where the whole stream pauses and I can’t do anything. I close the app and try to go to where I was and it just sits there with the greyed out play button. I’ll even try to go back to “live” but this only works some of the time. I close the app and reopen and the issue persists. Very annoying at the inconsistency of the app.

Can’t listen to my Padres!. I have tried multiple times over the last couple months to get this app to work so I can listen to the live stream of the San Diego Padres baseball games. However, I keep getting the out of area broadcast even when I am within a couple miles of the actual stadium! I have the same issue on my personal phone and my work phone, which are on different networks so it is definitely a problem with the app. Occasionally, I’ll get a couple minutes of the game before it switches to the out of area broadcast. It does work on my home computer though, which is why it gets two stars. Deleting now. So frustrating!!

Most used app I have. Also most annoying. On one hand I love this app. As I go about my day I can have my choice of music, podcasts or especially talk radio going in my mono ear bud. On the other hand the way ads are arbitrarily inserted right in the middle of programs, often at key times in the discussion or interviews gets on my last nerve. Also the repetitiveness of the same ads over and over becomes nauseating. I often listen to WBT Talk Radio station where the Progressive Insurance tongue twister ad for the Name Your Price tool is played so frequently I cannot listen to it anymore and pause it. As a result I will NEVER consider Progressive for my insurance needs.

The stations are great but the user friendly is not. I enjoy the app bc I can listen to a lot. But I do not like the format. My favorite station is the 9.71 the ticket out of Detroit. I used to be able to navigate it thru a lot easier in the older version. The new version is not good at all for going thru the different episodes. I can’t listen to certain shows even though it’s been less than 24 hours, like the old app. And it’s even difficult to go back in the same episode that I am listening to live. If those problems are fixed or go back to the old format, I would give it a five star. Thank you

Good idea with flaws. The app basically does what it is supposed to do, play your favorite radio stations. Unfortunately it has a playback option that allows you to hear the last 24 hrs. But it isn’t always a choice. It will pause playing if something interrupts it and then pickup where it was even10-15 minutes later. I can find no way to force it to always be live radio which is annoying. The app also has an issue with location. Even though I have my iPhone setting to share precise location the app indicates my market area to be Indianapolis or St. Louis or Kansas City not Milwaukee. Annoying. Really buggy. Shifts into playback mode fir no reason. Usually half an hour or one hour earlier. Not useful when you want live info only.

Crashes Often. The app randomly closes, stops, or completely crashes without any reason. There are times when it won’t connect, and you can continuously select the play button, but it gets caught in some type of infinite loop of not connecting. All of this happens on a strong WiFi connection. You can be listening to a radio show, open another app that’s unrelated , and one that has no audio or video, and the app just stops or closes. There’s no rhyme or reason. It doesn’t always crash, but it will surely happen, during every listening session. It is really poorly designed. I listen to one show on the app overnight and the app can’t even allow me to do that properly. Save your time. Not worth the hassle. I deleted the app. No more problems.

Was there an erroneous update?. The other morning, like always, I opened the app expecting to find and listen to my favorite station. The station was no longer there. After typing in desired station, the app had a new live option. Of course, I tapped the love option. Listen a bit. Had to get off app to answer phone call. Went back to app, tapped live, and it would not go back to live. Tapping live again, it went right back to what I had just listened to. It would not go to live. I got off the app and listened to desired channel via internet connection. I deleted the app. Going to load it again. If it messes up again, I’ll delete it for good. Some things are better left alone...

Awful if not listening live. The Rewind feature is buggy at best- which is the only reason to use this instead of a radio. Every use at some point it loses my spot- updates to live randomly, phone calls interrupt, app freezes, pausing is just asking for issues- Leads to too much time trying to find where it left off. If you listening live there are constant moments where the stream is dead silence. Small interruptions but they happen often enough that you notice it not happening when listening to an actual radio. 2 stars because it allows me to listen from anywhere my phone has service. But if you can podcast whatever it is you need this app for, that’s a much better option.

So much lost potential. I can’t name all the problems this app gives me. The live feed cuts out randomly all the time. When it picks up again I listen to the same commercial for two or three minutes straight. Multiple episodes of the show that I try to listen are mislabeled. The rewinding live audio function works roughly half the time. On top of all of that now in the last week the stream cuts out if my phone goes to sleep, put my phone in standby, or I switch to another app, meaning that I have to keep this app open if I want to use it which of course I cannot do. I hate to be the person that only leaves negative reviews but I think in all honesty I have now left two negative reviews for this app because it just keeps getting worse

Rating kcbs radio 740am. I’m giving a rating of 3 right now because earlier today, sat sep 28, I wanted to get live news to hear the traffic report but unfortunately got some pre-recorded talk show or podcast. I kept trying to get “live” news without luck. I just got the Radio app so maybe I get something wrong but I don’t think so. Well I have it on now and I’m getting live news at 10:43pm. I’m sure I’ll upgrade later. I’ve been listening since 1972! Everyday then when I was working every day at HP Palo Alto. And now since I’ve retired I miss it everyday. Now since I now have an iPhone 8, I can listen everyday again! Thank you for the news, traffic, weather, sports and everything else.

Frustratingly annoying. This is probably the only app I have, and maybe will ever, take time to give a review on how bad it is. I moved from Connecticut to Texas, and mainly used this app to listen to WFAN New York sports radio. As Mets fan, I thought it would be good to use, since SNY does not have a Roku channel, this app and listen to the great Howie Rose. Boy was I wrong, I tune in early listen to the pregame on WCBS 880. Then the game starts, and it switches over to a news broadcast?!?! I check back with friends to make sure the game is on 880, and it is. I have tuned into WFAN randomly and gotten the Yankees game fine, and other baseball teams radio stations and had them streamed perfectly fine. Listening to a Mets game is apparently to difficult with this app. This is so pathetic considering other stations work fine.

Crashes frequently. I like using this app to listen to radio stations I enjoy from far away and listening to podcasts from a local radio station. I really want to give this app a higher rating but the app crashes a lot, often after a short podcast (~5-7 minutes) is done when it is supposed to play the next episode, and sometimes it crashes in the middle of playing. I thought it may be my phone at first but I’ve updated it a few times since I’ve gotten the app about a year or so ago and the problem only seems to be getting worse. I wish it wouldn’t crash so much, it’s very frustrating to have to open it again, wait for it to load, go to my subscriptions, and find where I was only for it to crash again shortly after.

Why. I just updated the app last night and the rewind & fast forward buttons are gone. Why?! And it says in the update that now there’s an option to rewind our favorite songs if we want but I don’t see those options anywhere. It made it easier to switch stations with the rewind & ff button, now I have to go to every station and click on it just to listen. Please put it back the way it was. I was enjoying that. 😩 Other than that this app is the best!! My boyfriend from Greensboro introduced me to it last month! Made my day!! I can listen to all the music from the 80’s again 😍🙌

App constantly crashes.. App keeps crashing, I thought it was on my end because I had an old phone and an old WiFi router. I replaced both since I needed them anyway, but this app won’t stay connected. Very disappointed since the old company’s app worked flawlessly. Update 9/1/21. App still crashing regularly, found that streaming from the web works just fine. Update: it seems that this app doesn’t like my VPN. I disabled it, and the app works just fine, but apparently if the application can track my location, or web activity, it crashes within minutes of launching. The radio station I listen to plays plenty of adds, so it’s not like this is uncompensated content. Won’t be changing my rating.

Commercials Reset Contnuously. Not sure what happened as this hasn't happened before but for the past few weeks when listening, when the radio commercials play they will play and then all of a sudden reset and start from beginning of the commercials. It is also happening during the radio broadcasting, it will be in the middle of the segment and then all of a sudden reset and start from the beginning of the segment. When I check, it still says it is on live playback so not sure what's happening but it is not convenient when trying to listen to some of your favorite radio shows.

Almost cried. I was stuck in a loop of the same two commercials for 10 minutes earlier today. It’s not like I could have restarted the app at the time. I was driving. Also, whatever is being played will stop on its own. This is expected when my service drops. What is not expected is the station to not continue on its own. Again, I am driving, so it’s not the safest to restart the app. The play/pause button does not work until restarted. Lastly, I have had occasions where the station I would listen to would suddenly cut to a commercial from the app, not the station. I remember listening to sports talk a couple of weeks ago and the final stats for my team were immediately cut off. I got really emotional when I knew I could not listen to that in real time.

New user interface is horrible. New user interface is horrible. The app now trips over itself when trying to use it. Constantly logs you out and animations prevent you from logging back in again. New animation doesn’t fully slide past the create account page to the login page. When using the app the smaller live button is a pain point when driving. Why complicate this app? Shorten the number of clicks needed to use it and have your favorite stations front and center instead of buried.

Glitchy. This app is great for streaming my favorite radio shows (I’m a sports talk fan), but it’s very glitchy. Audio drops out all the time and I have to restart the app. If I take a call the app doesn’t always restart so I have to go back into the app and restart it. Same issues with the app cutting in and out in Apple car play. The audio will cut out, I’ll have to close the app, restart it, and do some backflips to get it to work again. I often just give up and listen to something else on a different app. Response: Instead of copy and pasting a response for us to email your developer to everyone that seems to have the same issue, why don’t you direct your developer to these comments and FIX YOUR APP!!!

Worst app ever. Unfortunately this app has a few shows that I like to listen to otherwise I would have erased it long ago. The “upgrades” they’ve added - rewind, fast forward, pause etc have been available on the other radio apps for years. And work so much better! Without fail, the app freezes or skips forward when you’re trying to rewind not just once but several times in the span of 1 or 2 hr show. If I get a phone call or I accidentally hit the Siri button, it fails and I have to close it, reopen it and try to get back where I left off. Which is a real test of patience If I could give negative stars I would, esp when compared to iHeartRadio radio or tunein or any of the other radio apps that are far superior
