Better before it switched to subscription pay. Don’t get me wrong, sleep cycle has been ahead of the curve as far as sleep tracking. I paid outright for the app when it first came out; what a great idea! Unfortunately, like virtually every other app/service they’ve gradually migrated to subscription based, slowly chipping away at benefits originally updated for free. I understand the need to make profits but this whole rent society trend is really messed up. Remember when companies would at least offer the alternative to pay a lump sum for unlimited use permenantly? I guess I’ll continue to use what I have until it’s eventually whittled away to mirror a free version. Related to this, if the devs offered an option to allow a song chosen for your alarm to continue from where you pressed snooze, I may be inclined to pay for that subscription. I appreciate the discount for recognizing my original purchase and one of my favorite things (that I used to shamelessly brag about) was that I felt taken care of because I was grandfathered into the premium content. My complaint really falls onto subscription culture as a whole. The end. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk.

The best!!!. I heard about this app from a YouTuber and so I decided I would try it out. Best choice of my life! It helps me wake up feeling refreshed and shows me how I slept last night, although I would like it if you didn’t just not give me an alarm after my wake up time, because I might oversleep. Now I can wake up at 7:00 in the morning instead of 10:40. This app really helped me be more productive during the day and I highly recommend it, even better, it’s free! I honestly don’t think I could ever go back to waking up to a regular alarm clock anymore. I feel a tiny bit tired but that’s just because I woke up early and I didn’t get enough sleep the previous night. Apart from that I feel much more awake using Sleep Cycle than without, it also records your snoring, just to let you know it uses your microphone to monitor your sleeping, but ignores all noises. If you sleep with someone else don’t worry, it won’t record them. Know that you should just try this app out, and I’m not even on the premium and I still think it’s the best alarm app so far! Thank you so much for saving my mornings Sleep Cycle!!!😊

So disappointed. I’ve had this app for years and relied on it to wake me up on time and give me insights on my sleep quality with little to no problem. And it did just that, until recently. I set the app’s alarm one night, as usual, and went to bed. When I woke, I realized that I overslept when this app alarm was supposed to wake me. I briefly considered the possibility that I set the wrong time for my alarm. So I open the app and what I found bewildered me. Not only did it seem like the app wasn’t tracking my sleep at all the previous night, but ALL of my sleep data was gone. Erased. Years of insights wiped from memory. But I thought, “this app is still a good alarm to wake up to” so I used it to set an alarm for the next day. I fall asleep that night and wake up. The sun is shining through my window. That’s my first clue that something is off. I set my alarm for 5 am, when the sky is still dark. So obviously, I overslept again. I open the app, trying to find some acceptable reason for me not waking up to it, hoping that I was doing something wrong and that this app that I’ve trusted for years wasn’t suddenly malfunctioning. Unfortunately, it was the app. Once again, it didn’t seem to be analyzing my sleep patterns and no insights from my recent rest appeared. To top it off, this was the second day in a row that I woke up late for work. This app has disappointed me in so many ways. The only positive thing is that I didn’t spend any money on this. Do not download.

It’s become standard!. What can I say other than I have use the app consecutively every night for 1671 days.. that pretty much speaks for itself. There are constantly adding new sounds as well as sleep audiobooks among many other things. People are paranoid about the government spying on you but I don’t mind that the app does it all night long listening to my sleep habits has helped me understand a lot about myself that I wouldn’t have figured out otherwise. It has an option to very subtly and gently wake you up and I have fallen in love with it! I used to go from the standard iPhone alarm blasting waking me up and wondering why I’m anxious and have a fast heart rate, Half of the time I’m awake and silencing my alarm with Sleep Cycle before I even hear the alarm just because of how subtle it is and I’m used to hearing it. I have it set to cycle random premium sounds so it’s almost never the same sound to wake up to every day which you think might get confusing but it’s actually a welcome change!Just give it a try for a week and if you don’t love it it was only a week but if you DO you love it then I have hooked you onto something amazing!

Why isn't this built into the iPhone!?. UPDATE:(This review is about a three and a half years old and it still is holds true) I can't imagine not having it now! It really really does work. An essential app! Very helpful if you feel tired after waking up, or need help going to sleep. It also quiets notifications while it's running, which is great. All the charts it gives you are awesome if you like stats! It's especially cool to see how your stats have changed over time, and where and how you slept in different locations. I've also learned how different things affect my sleep, such as even drinking tea or coffee; exercising, having a stressful day, or eating late. If you have an important thing to wake up for in the morning, set a few backup alarms, because although this app has only not woke me up perhaps 10-15 times out of about 750 nights using it (a 98.5% performance ratio), it might happen on an important day. If you don't have this app, get it immediately and use it every night! It's the first and last app I use every day, and I'm glad I'm hooked on it.

Great Design but Buggy. This sleep cycle app is one of the best ways to track your sleep schedule; the graphics are clean, the stats are comprehensive, and the interface is very user-friendly. I accidentally signed up for Premium, but so far it seems to justify its cost. However, the bugginess of this app is intolerable. I would think it was something wrong with my phone, but none of my other apps give me this trouble. First of all, as soon as you start the timer the screen auto-locks, meaning if you want to play music you have to go back in again and load it up. Second, I have often encountered issues where if I choose to open my phone again while the app is running, it will freeze on the sleep cycle app and black out immediately every time I turn on the phone, giving no option to pause audio, exit the app, or even restart my phone. This doesn’t always happen, but it does so enough that the mounting frustration and panic often makes it more difficult to sleep. Such an incident happened today, which prompted this review. It would be a huge relief to see the developers fix this issue.

Essential sleep app. I use this app every night. I am a super light sleeper and any alarm I set startles me awake no matter how quiet or ‘soothing’ the sound. Enter this guy. The wake-up window is like fairy magic or something and wakes me up during the optimal part of my sleep cycle so that I’m not jarred awake. It’s amazing. I really do love this app. That being said, I have two small nitpicky things that have to do with AirPod usage: If I wake up before my alarm and forget to cancel it, then pop in my AirPods and start watching something with audio, when the wake up alarm finally triggers, the audio of what I’m watching switches back to the phone SUPER LOUD. Yikes! And the second thing happens if I’m having trouble getting to sleep. Sometimes I need the aid of my AirPods to fall asleep and I have to turn on noise canceling. If I do that, though, I will not be woken up by this app. For some reason the sound of the ‘alarm’ will not be played through headphones, only the handset. Both of these scenarios play out very rarely for me so it’s not the biggest of deals, but the app response to them is consistent and I hope they make a change to fix them.

This app is incredible. I am a morning person who does not like my sleep disturbed. I have always found alarms to be horrible and to make me grouchy. When I found this app I didn’t really believe it could find the best time to wake me, but it has....EVERY DAY!!! Everyday I am delightfully shocked when I hear the quiet alarm start to play, because it is the perfect time to wake up. I actually wake up smiling and thinking, “Yep, this is the right time to wake up”, and then start my day. The recent upgrade claims that you can use your speaker or play music through an external speaker. Unfortunately this is not true which is why I had to take away one star. I actually woke up late after following the apps suggestions and barely made it to work. The next day I set my regular alarm and super grouch was back when the alarm went off. I was actually mad that my alarm didn’t know the exact time to wake me as this app seemingly does. It would be a great addition to the apps greatness, to be able to listen to my music while I sleep; and wake up in the beautiful way this app wakes me up. Am I asking for too much? Because honestly, I will forgo the music to have this app in my life forever.

Really solid. The app is great, I’ve had it for years. I don’t have a ton of confidence in the accuracy of their claim for your sleep efficiency each night, but it’s probably not far off. What I love most is the snooze...it senses you tapping the phone to activate snooze! So you don’t have to grab your phone and try to find a brightly lit little button in a dark room when you don’t want to b opening your eyes—just physically tap the phone anywhere! In fact, I just tap my nightstand and that is enough to silence the alarm for the snooze! My one big complaint, however, is a change that was made a couple months ago. Now you have to unlock your phone to turn it off. It used to be that the screen would dark all night, but it wouldn’t be locked, so when the alarm goes off in the morning you just see the app with an off button. But now, the phone auto-locks, so in the morning when it’s time to turn off the alarm, all you see are all the notifications on the lock screen that came in all night. So you have to fight those to get to the unlock, where you can get to app to turn off alarm. Super annoying. It ruins an otherwise nice experience, and does so at the worst time: when you are waking up in the morning. (The developer said this due to a change in policy from Apple, and they’re working on a fix. Let’s hope one comes soon!)

Was the Best, Now Sub Par.. I purchased Sleep Cycle several years ago and WAS a long time Sleep Cycle premium user. Sleep Cycle’s functionality has fallen behind competing apps that have emerged in recent years, many of which have a power nap option built in. The separate Power Nap app this developer sells was last updated FIVE YEARS ago, making it supper buggy and unusable (unless you’re still using an iPhone 3G). Also, the Apple Watch and iPhone apps work independently of one another. So, if you set an alarm on your phone, it will not sync with the Apple Watch app and vice-versa. Sleep Cycle WAS best in class for a long time, and Sleep Cycle still wins on UX IMO. If you read the developers responses to reviews they seem like a great group... the type of company you want to see beating the competition. Also, they deserve BIG props for allowing their early customers who purchased the premium app to maintain premium functionality after switching to a subscription model, excluding cloud backup. I actually added the subscription service, partly for cloud backup, but mostly because I was so impressed with the way they respected their early customer base when moving to subscription service. I would go back to Sleep Cycle if updated with the integration power nap functionality, Automatic sleep tracking, Apple Watch heart rate tracking, Apple Watch/iPhone apps sync, and other key functionalities now commonplace in the best sleep apps.

All the advice and advertising is really annoying. Needs to display how long you’ve been asleep, not what time it is. I really like this app and used it years ago for a while. Started using it again and I think it could be useful in decreasing any apnea from snoring. But- it talks too much now, tips, adverts, everytime you use it it’s got something to say. For example- last night it flipped an ad to me right after I activated sleep mode but I would have had to click through the ad to actually have the phone start recording. In consequence I didn’t get to track last nights sleep. Also annoying because all the tips are basic boring stuff totally uninteresting to anyone who knows any science about sleep. I wish there was a way to shut off tips, they make me angry 1st thing in the morning they’re so pedestrian and pedantic. I wish I could turn off the ads they interfere with my use of the app. It’s so disappointing bc the app is overall good but I wish there was a pay version without ads and tips and with LESS features, not more. Going to look for another app like sleep cycle but without the ads and ‘tips’ all the other incessant talking. You’d think a sleep app would know how to be quiet lol!

Great potential but no support - update. When trying to add a sleep note using the "edit" function after the sleep session has been completed the app rejects the note due to a "network error" -- the app doesn't provide a way to obtain direct online support even for a premium user, which I am. However, I went through the process of submitting a query and there was no response until I posted this negative review...then I received a nice email from the developer suggesting that "I needed a wifi connection and to restart the device" lol Well he didn't know what my knowledge base or that I was a "power user" so that's a minimal response but understandable... I guess. He did offer to follow up if I still had a problem and now I have a direct email address to the developer. Awesome right? Great service and was about to give 5* to the app and kudos to the developer. I responded that I'd already checked both out right away before contacting the company. No response again a month later. So I'll keep the one star rating for absence of responsibly addressing a functionality issue, though admittedly a minor part of the utility of the app.

Not as easy to use as it looks. So it’s not DIFFICULT but I have it set to automatically record but it doesn’t seem to or at least I can’t tell because when I open the app in the morning it automatically has me set my wake up time and sleep alarm and then stop it. So then I check the sleep journal to see if it recorded at night at it ALMOST looks like I did except I can’t fully see it or access it. There’s a little blurb at the bottom that won’t go away about the journal being there to show what it recorded with the information faded in the background. It makes me feel like maybe that’s just sample information, plus I can’t get the blurb to B go away to really read it or click on anything and everything else is premium. I can’t see stats because that’s premium to figure out if that’s my sleep info or not. And I can’t really read the journal and when I open the app it looks like I haven’t even started sleeping. Yet somehow my profile says I have records that I can’t find or access…. So is this app for strangers to figure out my sleeping Pattern via some weird remote monitoring through an app???? Or can I actually use it for my own knowledge? I’ll try this app for one more week on the chance that it’s user error but if I’m that time I haven’t figured out hope to use it not only will I not subscribe to premium I will uninstall and lower my rating to 1 star. Really hoping I’m just a dingbat because I like the over all look and set up

Five-star app with one small shortcoming. What can I say; it’s the best sleep tracking app in the App Store! Great set of features, very VERY accurate (audio tracking), good HealthKit integration, heart rate support, etc. A few minor bugs linger, mostly due to daylight savings time (UGH!), but not a big deal. One suggestion: why not allow heart rate optionally when falling asleep as well, rather than when just waking up? I know there are other dedicated apps for this, but seeing as the functionality is already built it, it seems like a natural extension of the sleep-wake “workflow”. One real complaint (and the reason I rated 4 rather than 5): the inconsistency in the subscription model. I don’t mind paying for continuous cloud service, because it is a continued investment to run. However, for us early adopters, charging full price for sync seems odd — we paid for the app when it came out, so if there’s no discount for sync, it’s as if we wasted the money buying the app, and have to pay the same yearly amount as those who got the app for free. Again, I don’t mind paying for a service, but I would prefer a discounted price. I know early adopters are only a small part of the user-base, but we do still exist! ;)

Very useful. I have been sing this app for about 2 years now. I really enjoy the ability to compare various nights sleep. I really like that I can make notes about elements of my day and see how my sleep changes. I also like that this app is continually improving. I am a part of something that is getting better. I’m not quite ready to wear my watch all night, but my iPhone next to my bed seems to work very well, even with my wife next to me. Suggestions: could there be a better way to make a suggestion rather than writing a review. I can’t find an obvious way to contact the developer within the app itself. Maybe it’s there, but not obvious. Also, sounds have improved but need a couple of tweaks. Since sounds have improved there is now a regular electronic buzz that is annoying. Sometimes louder sometimes quieter, but always there. This is new to the update. Also add dog barking to the list of sounds. Our dogs are often in the bedroom at night and at times they bark. It doesn’t wake me usually, but it would be good to identify it so it could be subtracted from snoring. Keep up the good work.

Fix Apple Watch UI. For people who understand sleep, the Sleep Cycle Apple Watch app is not designed to be used by groggy people who just woke up. There have been many days my nightly data gets erased simply because I hit “stop” on the wake up alarm instead of “open” and then “stop.” Every morning it’s most natural to hit “stop,” my built-in Apple Watch alarm is turned off with a similar “stop,” function, but I’m supposed to have the level of executive functioning after just becoming conscious to resist hitting “stop” on this alarm or it will erase my data. This is a huge flaw that has made about 20% of the nights I wear the watch useless because the most natural way to turn off the alarm makes my sleep data disappear. Please fix this and record data no matter what! If someone wants to delete a night of data, they should be able to do that later. Also, if I wake up before my alarm window, the Watch doesn’t record my true wake up time, and if I ignore the alarm and keep sleeping, it doesn’t keep recording after the end of the alarm window, so for another ~20% of nights, my time asleep and time in bed is inaccurate. With 40% of my data missing or inaccurate, I don’t know how valuable it is to keep tracking my sleep with this app.

Good app. UPDATE: I have been using this app for 8.5 years almost every night. This was the “smart bed” before Select Comfort created theirs, and I love having such a wide data set to learn from. However, in the last month, the sleep aid has been overriding my settings and fading out multiple times per night (but not EVERY night, or I would have already jumped ship), which has led to some of the worst sleep in years. I’m going to have to abandon this app for something more reliable if this issue isn’t immediately resolved. I don’t know if other apps on my phone are conflicting with the all-night brown noise setting or what’s happening. I haven’t changed anything about how I use the app. I am SO very tired from the sudden jarring silence waking me. It may as well be an alarm clock or an infant for how disruptive this has been. 😵‍💫 - - - This data is interesting and I like the alarm options... Much less abrasive than standard alarms. I would like to add daily notes so I can qualify the results, but overall, I'm pleased with this app. The variety of sleep-aid sounds is great for combatting the various the various noises I encounter when I travel.

It is nice when it works but..... Tried this out for a few weeks and tried to primarily use the Apple Watch instead of the phone to see how the watch app works. First, there is no option to change between hours and minutes so you must twist the crown for an unnecessary amount of time in order to change your alarm from 6 AM to 11AM. Second, you cannot use it WITHOUT the alarm which bothersome when you would rather just track the sleep and not use an alarm. Finally, it does not sync to Apple health consistently if using only the Apple Watch. I never slept to the alarm that I set, which was usually set to 11 AM so I would switch it off before the alarm hit. Sometimes it would sync to Apple health but most nights it would not. I would even get an alert on my phone saying it did sync to Apple health then I would open the app and find that there was no information for that night. Kind of a big strike against a sleep tracker for the watch if it cannot stand alone from its iPhone app when it advertises as such. The app for the phone works fine by itself. I didn’t really see a noticeable difference in tracking when using the phone app versus the watch app, however, with all the issues I mentioned above, I am not sure how this ended up an “editor’s choice” when there are some obvious problems with both the design and operation of the watch app.

Absolutely positively Love this APP !!!!. I always wake up at night close to hourly, I couldn’t figure out that I was never satisfied in the morning with how I slept or why I woke up exhausted every morning . So I was browsing through just App Categories to find something new to pique my interest when I came across this type of alarm clock that will gradually wake up over the course of 45 minutes instead of just being woken Abruptly and it makes an amazing difference . Every morning when you wake up, you’ll have a sleep report explaining how deep of sleep you were in throughout the night . It tells you why and how many times you woke up and it’s sooo cool that it can do that . There’s so much more too it but the last I’ll mention is that, the App is not only an alarm clock, it will also pay ambient sounds to help you fall asleep . You used to have to keep your phone under your pillow for it to be an accurate report but now it can be accurate while just being on the dresser next to you . I completely recommended whole heartedly . It’s so well worth the small amount of money you pay to get it .

nice app!. This is a pretty good app, I don’t regret downloading it. I don’t have the premium subscription, but it’s still good and everything works fine, it’s not like those apps where they give you one feature for free and make you pay for the rest. I’m not sure how effective the wake up window thing is... I often wake up at the very beginning or very end of the window, and I don’t really notice a difference in how I feel waking up using this vs a normal alarm. More often I just use the sleep tracking feature without the wake up window. My only other complaint is the alarm sounds. If I’m not already almost awake (I’ve noticed when I’m on a schedule, waking up at the same time everyday according to this app I sleep very lightly for like half an hour before) I can sleep right through it. Like, we all like nature sounds but they put me to sleep more than wake me up. And there’s no option for a normal alarm sound or some random jingle in the the Apple clock app. But other than that, it’s pretty great. The graphs are very nice, it tells you how much time you were actually asleep vs in bed, you can even look at a calendar and see your sleep quality over time which is really interesting. Would recommend!

Disappointing and mediocre. I’ve been using sleep cycle consistently for over 2 years now, and I’ve had premium for a year. I’m disappointed to say that even though I’ve always been optimistic about this app, it’s just not that good. The time in bed compared to time asleep is always inaccurate. The sleep recordings record way too much static background noise. The most annoying thing is that in the last few months the app has been crashing overnight, so you lose all of the data for that night and it ruins your sleep report. It’s gotten to the point where this app only works 3 or 4 days out of the week, it’s always really spotty and is no longer reliable. As for the premium features, there is not enough content to justify a 30 dollar price tag. Seeing your data on the graphs is nice, but they are too general and there aren’t enough tools. I want to be able to see biweekly data, compare sleep statistics between months, see different groupings of data besides what’s currently available. I would suggest sticking with the free version of the app since the data is lackluster, and the nighttime audio recordings never work well. It’s very upsetting having to write this review after using this app for so long, but it’s ridiculous. Add more content to premium or lower the price. Most importantly, stop your app from crashing.

Used to be great, but went to garbage. I have had this app since 2011. I loved it and recommend it to everyone I knew. Regretfully, starting with the last major update, it has gradually undone all the things I fell in love with. 1. User Interface. It’s been about a year since it was changed, and I still cannot get used to the new clunky cartoonish UI, which apparently was designed by a toddler. The sophisticated slick and polished user interface, no more. I figured OK, it’s just a form, let’s focus on substance. Well... 2. The reliability of the analysis and features went down the drain. The app shows me as being asleep, when I am not, and vice versa. In fact it will show things like snoring and being awake at the same time. Really? 3. Woke me up randomly at 3:30 am instead of 6:30. I kept snoozing it, wondering why I just can’t wake up, to finally open my eyes and see 3:45 on my alarm. HOW? I know I did not make an error. The alarm still shows as being set for 6:30. The only thing I can think of is that I came home from a location with a different time zone (3 hours early) that day. Was this the cause of screwed up internal sleep cycle clock? But cmon. When I set the alarm the night before, the current and the wake times were shown correctly. Needless to say, I could not go to sleep after, and was off my game the entire day. Ironic, that the app you get to help your sleep, ruins it for you. I am uninstalling and moving on to other apps. Done with this nonsense.

Love it! Love it! Love it!. I have been using this app every single night for a very long time. Like 8-10 years?? Time flies! I am a huge fan and constantly recommend it to friends and family. I purchased the premium version back before it became a paid subscription so I am grandfathered in on the features that were present at that time. So I can’t comment on some of the newer updates, but I will say that as an alarm clock, white noise machine, and a way to reference and track your sleeping habits— it is excellent! I have a tower fan next to my bed and it still records clearly and tracks my sleep schedule within an acceptable range. The alarm clock works very well. I really appreciate that it gradually gets louder. I also love that to snooze it all I have to do it nudge my phone. No pressing buttons or looking at a bright screen. Really great work on this app and thank you for keeping up with it. The fact that this app has been consistently reliable for 8+ years is remarkable and really speaks for itself on the hard work that has been put in to it by this team.

Like a Fitbit, but you don’t need to exercise. I know lots of people use fitbits or apple health or step counters or whatever to keep track of the exercise they’re getting, and they can dedicate their life to that. every day they look forward to breaking their personal record. Now imagine putting that kind of motivation towards something just as important- sleeping well. We all “want” to get a good night’s rest, but few of us consider it a goal to actively work towards. This app makes it exactly that. being well-rested is now measurable like being fit, or eating well. Since I got this app, I’ve been going to sleep excited. I actively work towards getting that rare and magical 100% sleep quality, which is so hard to do sometimes, but so worth it. I downloaded the premium at a reasonable cost, and I love the feature which lets you keep track of daily habits and how they influence your sleep quality. For example, reading before bed on average boosts me 15%. Also, waking up is no longer the worst part of my day, thanks to always being woken in light sleep with a pleasant alarm sound. Actually life changing.

Alien technology!!!. I love waking up early but I struggle so much actually doing it. I literally set about 5 alarms to try to get myself out of bed. And if I don't set an alarm (because I read your body will wake itself up when it has had sufficient rest) i sleep for 10-12 hours. My first night using this app I was a little weary about if it would actually work. I set a few other alarms after when it was supposed to wake me up just so I wasn't late. BUT IT WORKED! It went off about 6:20 because I said I wanted to get up between 6:15 and 6:45 and I woke up turned it off and was expected to fight myself to stay awake like norma. This didn't happen. I felt perfectly rest and felt like I had energy all day. I fell like this app is some kind of alien technology used to give me more sleep in order to prepare me for a study they are doing. Or that this is the technology Batman used in order to only have to sleep 2 hours a night. Even if you are skeptical I would say try it out. I haven't used the premium features that you have to pay for, and with only using the free section this is my opinion. Try it! Just seize the opportunity to easily wake up in the morning. Or spend thousands of dollars on a new mattress. I guess it's your choice.

Trying this app again - still has issues. I've tried this app once before (premium) and cancelled it because I felt that the tracking wasn't as accurate as I wanted. I am trying it again now because my sleep is not great and I hoped I could try tracking again for some insight. Right from the start, however, it failed to indicate that I had gotten out of bed. When i looked back it showed that I was awake only after I had turned off sleep (gave up falling back to sleep even though it is too early to be awake...). Also, every single snore recording is of my sleeping partner. He is a massive snorer, and I know its him and not me because I know how he snores and he has describes my snoring to me; they are very different. He is possibly suffering from sleep apnea and is scheduled for a sleep study soon. His snore is loud and distinctive. This happened before, and IMO, snore detection in this app is an absolute waste for anyone who does not sleep alone. It is just a microphone listening for snore sounds; it can't tell who is making them. Consider this before you try it and understand that this app has limitations. The gentle alarm feature is ok, but I more often than not wake up before it, so I am not sure how effective it is or might be for others.

Crashing recently. NOT Reliable. Update2: still crashing. Canceling my subscription. You should be more open and clear about this problem. An alarm app that doesn’t reliably go off in morning is completely unacceptable. Update: The comments of wanting to look more closely are bogus. I emailed so they could look at my case. The canned response:”we are aware of issues. Set a backup alarm”. Please fix, I will cancel my premium if no definitive stated fix soon. One job for alarm: Wake me up at the time I set. All else is pointless without this being reliable. ****++++previous review++++****** Used for a couple years with no issues. Recently, past couple months has crashed in middle of night thus no alarm. Thankfully no early flights but the app crashing is a BIG PROBLEM. Previously would have rated 5 stars but this needs to be fixed. Note I’m a premium user but if not fixed soon I’ll need to move on. Need reliability first. Please fix and state what was wrong, not the typical “bug fixes and stability improvements”. This isn’t a garbled font this is a core issue.

Should have read more reviews. I can probably count the number of reviews I have given in my life on one hand. It’s just not something I do. But as I’ve aged, I realize the importance of quality products and the need to celebrate them. Or, in this case, the need to express disappointment in something that was once great. I’ve had this app for about a month and up until the last few nights it has been working really well. So well, that after the first few days I felt I just had to upgrade to the premium version at $29/year (paying for apps is also something I rarely do). Zoom to this morning to me taking the time to write a review even though I’m already late for work, since I woke up for the third time in a row on my own without a peep from the app, the notification silently displaying, “good morning!” as if it actually did its job. No, you didn’t do your job, app; instead you only captured a portion of the night, or recorded my coughing/snoring but didn’t tell me how long it occurred. Of course my quality was subpar when you think I’ve only been asleep for 3 hours. I could deal with it messing up the recording/data a bit, but when I can no longer rely on the alarm clock *that I paid for*, what good is this app? This used to be such a great tool. I think that’s what makes all of this worse. Two stars for what it used to be. I guess I’ll be looking elsewhere.

Overdue Review. It’s long overdue that I write a review for this app because I’ve been lucky enough to be grandfathered into Sleep Cycle’s pro version. I downloaded the app back when I was in high school when it was 99¢ and continue to use it almost every night (10 years later), mostly with the intention to utilize the alarm. I always had at least 2 or 3 different alarms that all failed to wake me up until I bought Sleep Cycle. I absolutely love that I have access through the app to different sleep sounds, like ASMR or story telling, because when I listen to things through my laptop instead, it reads me as being awake and talking. I’ve picked up on numerous hilarious sleep talking incidents with the ability to share the sound recordings with my friends and family, and I love being able to see which days of the week I need to work on getting myself to sleep more consistently and tracking the triggers that lead me to sleep better or worse. Most of all, though, I appreciate that the company has included me, as an initial investor, in the updates throughout time. Having had the opportunity to realize what the app does for me makes me think that the least I could do is write them a good review!

Best alarm ever! But now I can’t use it??. I have loved this app from the minute I found it. The alarm is my favorite feature, as I have a sleep disorder and find the alarm super easy to operate when I’m falling asleep, and set it up with shortcuts to turn my phone on do not disturb when the alarm turns on automatically! It still goes off regardless of whether I have my sound on or up on my phone! I used the app to track my apnea also, even just the free version in the beginning! But I accidentally deleted the app for a few days while on vacation, and now I added the app back, and can’t get a free version, can’t sign back in, says my log on expired?! I wouldn’t mind paying some for the app, but now that I use a cpap I don’t need to track the sounds of my sleep anymore, because there are none! I just wish I could use the alarm without having to pay the full price of $40/year. I know it’s not a terrible price, but not needing to use the full service of the app, I find it hard to justify! Please come out with an alarm only app! Or have a reduced feature price? I miss my alarm so much!!

Lacking in Meditations. I like this app in a lot of ways. I like how it records when I snore, although I am embarrassed that I do snore, and I like hearing the funny and sometimes strange things I say when I talk in my sleep. I like how it tracks my quality of sleep. HOWEVER, I really miss not being able to listen to my other meditation apps when I use this app because the guided meditations, stories, sounds, et cetera selection on this app are very lacking. There is only one voice for the guided meditation section, and I would prefer to have more variety. Additionally, there are not that many tracks to choose from in any category. I personally like guided sleep meditations that last for close to an hour or more, but there are none — and again, there are not many choices at all, and it’s the same woman’s voice for the guided meditations. It would be great if somehow this app could collaborate with Insight Timer or at least get some of the content they have. Basically the features of this app are cool, but the things that are provided to help a person actually fall asleep are VERY limited and not very good. I’m hoping they will improve in this aspect. Otherwise, I won’t continue to pay because I NEED things to help me fall asleep.

Bye bye Fitbit. My biggest complaint is I wish the buttons to snooze and turn off weren’t so tiny on the watch. I love the silent alarm but when I’m awoken from sleep (even if it is light), I’m still so fuzzy that it’s easy to cut my alarm off and go back to sleep. Either make snooze a big button and you have to scroll down to reach off, or not allow cutting it off via the watch, just from the phone. The phone should be next to our beds anyway. If nothing else, just make this an option in the settings for those of us who sleep a lot harder. Otherwise, I love the app. I LOVE the silent alarms and snoozes. My wife and son love it, too. Now I don’t get them up before the sun rises and I can sneak out to work without waking them. The insights are pretty cool. I did turn off the recording, though. There’s no company I’d let record me sleep. Cool feature if you want it. When I first got my Apple Watch I was sad about the battery life and that I didn’t have my Fitbit to track my sleep. I love tracking my sleep so much that I was actually wanting my Fitbit back. This is so much better than the Fitbit. The silent alarms are pretty powerful, and the full screen gives you so many more options than a Fitbit ever could. This made me love my Apple Watch. Bye bye Fitbit.

It’s ok, more for entertainment. I like the program, wish it were more accurate. I sometimes suffer from insomnia and wanted to track how much sleep I was actually getting. This program doesn’t register that I’m waking up in the middle of the night. I’ve taken to taking with me if I get up and walk around, just to have it show up as awake for a minute. When I watch movies for an hour it thinks I’m asleep. I’m watching the movie on the same phone as the app - you’d think it’d realize something. Apparently according to this app I get a great nights sleep almost every night. It also thinks I must be doing great on minimal sleep since that’s what I get many weekdays. I wake up most mornings not feeling rested, and don’t sleep through the night, but this app isn’t going to help track that. Amusing, for that I’d give it 4 stars. I’d give it 5 if it actually tracked when I was awake , and tracked the weather correctly ( massive storm all night doesn’t even show up) and if the air pressure tracker worked. Yes wifi and cell signal on. They need a feature to plug in how many hours of sleep I need at night- I wasn’t born yesterday- and set my own goals for sleep, instead of deciding 6 hours is my ideal, which is unhealthy information to give someone who may not realize only few people need less hours. Tried a couple apps, this one still seems the best at tracking anything.

Excellent app for my needs.. I use this app for it’s feature of waking me up after I complete the closest 90 minute sleep cycle to the time I need to wake up to get ready for work. The theory behind this is that your brain is more conscious after completing a cycle, therefore waking up feels more natural and less forced. The app also analyzes how deep you sleep throughout each 90 minute cycle and graphs this info for you. I don’t know how reliable this info is but it seems to be accurate enough because I have never had trouble getting out of bed using this app and my whole life I have often had trouble waking up. I now speculate I was often trying to wake myself from a deep sleep. This app uses valuable scientific information and modern technology to really enhance human life. I’m so stoked I found this app. I love waking up when my body is most ready. Very innovative and convenient app. It has definitely improved my life. Thank you so much for the wonderful app. Much love and appreciation from the big island of Hawai’i 🤙🏼🌺🛸

Tremendous Help, Very Accurate, and Highly Convenient. Since university, I’ve consistently operated on as few as 3-4 hours a night sleep (and a lot of caffeine) with more than my fair share of all-nighters. One of my resolutions for this birth year is to get 6-7 hours of sleep every night. I’ve been using this app for almost a month (although still well below my targeted sleep goal) and have found it to be an incredible help in my endeavor. I was suspicious of it using my iPhone microphone versus an accelerometer or pressure device and benchmarked it against some other trial apps that used my Apple Watch. I found Sleep Cycle to be every bit if not more accurate. The microphone is extremely sensitive to minor movements or changes in breathing and doesn’t seem to be impacted when sleeping with others. (Note: I do not sleep with any ambient noise from a TV or sound machine which could potentially impact it.) Another major plus to the microphone approach is the freedom of being able to travel without worry of loosing data on days away from home or packing some device.

Why I love sleep cycle.. Sleep Cycle is amazing app to see how well you sleep and it’s good for your health. It supports you throughout the night while you sleep and it’s reliable. The one down thing about the app is you have to pay a lot for th premium but the premium is amazing. It gives you all your information about how you sleep what you do when you sleep and ways to make us sleep better. This app is an app to live with for the rest of ones life and could be enjoyed all the time. One of the amazing features is when you set a time to wake up it is slowing preparing you to wake up, it doesn’t just make a noise and keeps snoozing itself till you wake up, it makes a first noise, stops gives you five minutes and make another soft noise and the later the time gets the louder it rings, until the time you have to wake up. The one main thing that I love about the app it monitors how deep you are in the sleep and it records your snoring, which is extremely helpful and I think it is extremely accurate. Everybody should download Sleep Cycle that is going to the best decision you ever make.

Neither accurate nor reliable. It doesn’t seem to be aware of when I wake up and get up to walk around (I have Parkinson’s disease with a large helping of restless legs, plus sleep apnea). The wake-up window has never worked for me. The alarm goes off at the earliest possible time, even when by its own metrics I am in deep sleep. Lately it has also frequently stopped tracking my sleep during the night - did it last night , in fact. Simply closes at a random time during the night. Fortunately I’m retired and don’t need to get up for work, though sometimes I do need to wake up for a doctor’s appointment. I’ve started relying on my Apple Watch for actual alarms. The only message I ever get from the app is something about sleep efficiency. It always gives the same number, and I can find no explanation of what that number means or how it is derived. My sleep is not so consistent that anything should be absolutely the same every single night. I keep using it for the tracking, though I’m not sure why, since it is obviously inaccurate. Also, the labels it gives for sounds are comical (for instance, baby crying, when I am single and in my 70s and live alone). But hearing the sounds is a premium feature, and I’m not about to pay for this, given its shortcomings, so I can’t “improve “ the labels.

Doesn’t do the job.. After a month of premium (paid) service this ‘Sleep Cycle’ app isn’t working, and there isn’t any way to contact the app developers. I set the app to start recording my sleep and set down my device in the very specific way requested, with it plugged in even, and at some point during my sleep it turns off and records nothing. Last night it recorded 1.5 of the 8 hours I actually slept. I can’t edit to correct a specific sleep cycle. I can’t create records that have only basic information, like how many ours I slept. I have many night that have gone unrecorded and that is the information that goes into their stats. Stats based on incorrect information are useless! So what exactly does ‘premium’ service get me? Nothing. Who cares if I have bad and incomplete information backed up? All the other stats I can easily look up on my own, for free. Don’t buy the premium service. It is a complete waste of money. I also tried ‘Life Cycle’. It doesn’t track well. You have to fill in a lot of information and that is pointless when the map location is incorrect and, again, the app doesn’t allow you to edit or correct their mistakes. Incorrect information is useless. Neither app is worth paying for. Response to app developer response: why would you think I hadn’t already tried the simple ideas? I did that. I rebooted my device as well. None of the easy-fix options have helped. If they had a review like this would just be petty instead of helpful to others.

Changes with Sleep Aid and Alarm Flaws. I generally like this app, but there are certain flaws that drive me crazy! One of them is that occasionally (1/75 nights at most I would guess) the alarm never goes off. My phone did not restart during the night, and the screen isn’t even off. Once I wake up and move my phone it will start going off, but nothing at all before that, which is incredibly annoying, and has now forced me to add another alarm to make sure that at least that one will go off if SleepCycle fails. The second issue is more of a minor annoyance, and although I don’t claim to know anything about app development, seems super fixable. The sleep aid option used to have an “all night” option, but now the longest you can have it on is 90 minutes. That’s not a huge problem at my dorm because I have a white noise machine, but whenever I go home or travel anywhere it’s super annoying because I either have to use a different app to produce white noise on my phone (which interferes with the microphone-based sleep tracking) or buy a white noise machine to travel with. It just seems like an issue that is so easily fixed, and such a no-brainer, because some people (myself included) will wake up in the middle of the night and not know why, only to realize that the noise turned off!

Reliable, User Friendly, Absolutely Fantastic. I recommend this app to anyone that is remotely having trouble sleeping. I’ve legit been using this every single night for 5 years. I absolutely LOVE that I can set it every night. I use it as sort of a personal check in with myself before I sleep by including some sleep notes about my day to determine the quality of my sleep. The sleep notes are just a a check box that you can select if it applies to you that day. Examples might be: alcohol, tired, sick, worked out, period, traveled, etc. and you can add your own custom sleep notes options! It’s perfect for my short attention span so you aren’t obligated to actually journal sentences, but will have a short reference of the day to look back on months from now. I also love the quick check in with myself after I wake up! I wake up smoothly over 30 minutes and reach for my phone which gently fades out the alarm which I pick up my phone, no button or bright light required immediately!! Once I actually decide to wake up, the app says good morning and shows me the weather once I stop the alarm, I get to select how to slept also choosing between just three buttons. Bed, medium, or great! I highly recommend this app and I barely ever review anything unless it’s worthwhile. I pay for the annual subscription but I also used the free version for years. Both are extremely worth it. The premium allows me to keep my sleep data stored forever (or as long as I want).

Not for couples- sadly. I used to use this app when it was just myself and my cat. Which was rather hilarious when it would mistake her purring for snoring. Hehe. But now that I sleep in the same bed as my partner, who has sleep apnea and thusly snores-a lot-, and also wakes up a lot, the app isn’t working so well anymore. It’s mistaking their sleep habits for mine. I am a very heavy sleeper and for the most part sleep right through my partners snoring, tossing, getting up multiple times a night (though the app has recorded me talking in my sleep a few times). But this also means I can, will, and have, slept through **dozens** of alarms. We set them on multiple devices, scattered around the room and even some in the bathroom. I will yell at them, and on occasion simply unplug the device in a half dazed stupor. Then go right back to sleep. For hours. I regularly sleep 14 hours, sometimes more if there’s nothing scheduled the next day. So—when it was just me and the cat this worked wonderfully! I actually would indeed wake up refreshed, usually, and pretty darn easily too. Perfect for a night owl who was scheduled to get up at 4am for work. Ugh. Perfect for that. Just…not when your partner snores and gets up every 3 hours and can get back to sleep without watching TV for a while. The poor app thinks I’m awake.

Almost perfect. I’ve used Sleep Cycle for almost two years now and I can’t imagine my life without it. That being said, your recent Apple Watch update really needs some work. I’ve used the Apple Watch app for two days now. The first morning after, I noticed my battery was at 66% even though when I went to bed it was at 100%. Last night it was at 80%, and I woke up to my battery at 29% this morning. This is unacceptable. What is the app doing that is destroying my watch’s battery? It seems to me like my phone is still the device doing all the tracking, and the watch just reacts based on what my phone is sensing (i.e., my phone detects I’m snoring so my watch vibrates). The only thing the watch app does independently is measure my heart rate, and any of the other sleep tracking apps do that as well without this huge battery drain. I’ve been using two separate sleep tracking apps because no app did everything I wanted until you released your companion app for the watch. Until you fix the battery drain, I’ll have to go back to that, but I really look forward to any updates you have for this issue.

Helpful but could use more features. I purchased the paid version of this app. While I have enjoyed it well enough over the past 6 months or so, I don’t think I’ll renew. I purchased this app to get data that would point me towards ways to improve my sleep. For example, the app tracks your step count. However, there is no graph or tab where I can see how my step count impacts how well I sleep at night. Similarly, I can mark off experiences I had during the day (e.g., drinking caffeine) but, once again, there’s no part of the app that tells me if drinking caffeine makes me fall asleep more slowly, increases my sleeping heart rate, etc. If the app had these features, I would renew it. One other thing: it would be great to have a notification feature that checks in to make sure you haven’t forgotten to turn off the nightly recording after a certain number of hours. I have had to delete full days of my journal because I forgot to click “stop recording” and ended up with 18 hours on my sleep log. As I understand it, the app currently turns off automatically if it believes you to be awake. This hasn’t worked at all for me; there have been some days where I’ll wake up and find that it only recorded half the night. Other than that, though, the app is great. I love the sound effects, the fun facts, and the journal. Thank you!

i love sleep cycle. I literally use sleep cycle every single night. i’ve been using it since 2014 (i was 11 at the time) and have never looked back. i fell in love with it immediately. i remember when there were only the four alarm noises, i still use the same alarm noise i did when i was 11, the sunrise one! if this app ever leaves the appstore i will die 😂 no but fr i love this app and it’s so fun to look back at all my nights of sleep. right now i have 1,237 nights, but i suspect there is a lot more that’s been lost between the switching of phones. the current tally of nights is from 2019 to present. i wish i had all my data from before but oh well! i use premium and it’s definitely worth it for me, but i can understand where others might not feel the same. it is expensive but as a long time user i rely on it heavily and really enjoy it, it’s part of my routine. a feature i would really love to see is the total time spent in each sleep phase (i.e. deep sleep, sleep, awake) there’s the graph that kinda shows you, but i would love it if there were numbers to break it down (i know it wouldn’t be 100% accurate numbers lol but just an estimate would be nice even) otherwise, i am really happy with the app. thanks for all the years you’ve put into it, developers!

Heart rate at wake-up still unreliable. For the most part, the app works pretty well. I was dismayed to see that when they updated the app to work with inductive charging positions (I.e., the phone is face up), there was no clear indication to not put the phone to sleep. I put it to sleep the first few nights because I wasn’t used to seeing the backlight on constantly (I have an 8 Plus) and awoke to see a slew of notifications saying I needed to wake my phone. While that’s not a huge deal, I found zero documentation. Also, the update for 8 Plus heart rate monitoring at wake up still rarely, if ever works. I will sit there for at least 90 seconds with my phone starting to heat my finger with the flash because it still won’t accurately pick my heart rate up. My display will go to sleep at least three times all the while, which is useful when I’m super groggy. Needless to say, I turned the heart rate feature off. It’s been smooth other than that. One remaining question is that when searching the help docs on the app, there’s no link to contact the developer. I’d never noticed that until I tried looking for ways to alleviate the problems noted above. That seems pretty “meh” for an app I have to pay for every year. I also pay for the Life Cycle app too.

Nice app. I’ve had this app for several years now and will continue to repurchase it for as long as it’s available. I appreciate how gently it wakes me up rather than the jarring way normal alarm clocks do. I am so in tune to the sound of the alarm now I can have it fairly low and it still wakes me. You can have it record your quality of sleep without an alarm as well. Whether you want it to wake you up when it’s determined you’re out of REM sleep in a window 30 min-the exact time you need to wake up you can control that setting. Though the part that records sounds isn’t always accurate when it says I’m snoring (I rarely snore, but when I do, WOW😂) it’s interesting to listen to the background noise that it does pick up. It also measures your quality of sleep and you put in different things that happened throughout the day that could affect your sleep. I’d say it’s 75% accurate. So you can have an idea how you’ve slept and what different aspects of your day may have affected your sleep. All around definitely worth the money.

Not very accurate but can be good enough for waking up. First off, I appreciate the free version of this app and rated accordingly. I’ve had it for several years and have used it for periods of time on and off. Lately, it seems like it’s less accurate in tracking my sleep patterns. I sometimes have insomnia. I’ll have trouble falling asleep one night and stay awake in bed for over half an hour, but the app says I fell asleep within 10 min. It also doesn’t detect when I wake up in the middle of the night, even when I get up. On nights where I wake up many times, it says my sleep quality is over 85%. The Journal will also show the line at that time within the sleep range and sometimes even close to deep sleep. Maybe it isn’t less accurate, but my nightly sleep is more disrupted, so I notice it more? Sometimes it feels like the app is waking me up at times when I still feel tired/groggy now. I do want to note that it’s not always inaccurate! It just depends on what you’re looking to get out of the app. But anyway, I’m looking for an app with more accurate sleep tracking now.

Good alarm, some glitches. I really like the flexible alarm. It works pretty well, and even though it isn't perfect at detecting my level of sleepiness, I like it better than a regular inflexible alarm. I also like having the time I go to bed and time I wake up recorded, as it's nice to reference, although there are times when I will sleep in after the alarm woke me up. I don't like the snooze feature. I wish it wouldn't snooze automatically when I touch my phone. I found that encouraged me to snooze, so I haven't had that feature on for a while, and sometimes I'll put on a regular alarm on my phone to snooze if I choose. I guess that works just fine for me, besides my wake time being inaccurate. But the biggest reason I decided to leave a review is that it seems to have stopped working well. Every time I go on to it, it will load really slowly when I scroll and then just freeze. And last night, I set up the sleep cycle and everything, and then it just buzzed at me (a single buzz) this morning with its little Good morning! message five minutes after the thirty minute windows I gave and zero sleep analyzed or anything recorded for last night. It is not really working anymore.

Has gotten WORSE since I first started using it. I first started using this probably way back when it first released in 2009. There were issues, but it still worked fairly decently. Flash forward to now and I redownloaded it because I knew it has a progressive alarm, but IT ONLY PLAYS THROUGH THE DEVICE SPEAKER! (I wear headphones to sleep, and THIS APP screws them up) The recording aren’t helpful. Half the time I’m not even sure it was actually me it picked up (I don’t live alone) It somehow DOESN’T properly pickup me GETTING UP OUT OF BED and laying back down in the middle of the night as being “awake”; it’s still registers as low enough to be sleep. Not only that, the way it tracks sleep doesn’t properly measure sleep cycles. It just shows a flat graph for most of the night. It doesn’t tell you how well you sleep till after 4 nights, which isn’t really a number I need guessed at (plus, having used it before it was often wrong, saying I slept horribly on nights that I woke well rested or that the night was great when I woke up feeling tired still, and if the tracking has gotten worse then I suspect that has as well) I’m just going to look for a different app, one that isn’t going to suggest joining premium for features that really don’t add anything to an already broken glorified alarm.

Really good. I like it’s softer alarm sounds to wake me up. It’s nice to know if you snore while sleeping, and most of the time the sleep cycle thing looks accurate. I find that it’s really off in when you fall asleep (saying I fell asleep immediately even though I stayed up longer) or in waking up (says I was sleeping soundly until the alarm but In reality I was just awake and relaxing) I’ve never really found it to follow any scientific knowledge to wake me up, it just gets me up either at the first minute of my window or the last minute, but that could possibly be due to the fact that I don’t have a bedside table and sleep with it on the windowsill next to my bed. There’s also, I haven’t figured out why, this thing it does sometimes where the alarm doesn’t go off at all, and it just gives you a little silent “good morning!” Notification if you set it up to wake at a certain time. Obviously this doesn’t wake me up. I’ve been lucky enough to just naturally wake up about 10 or so minutes after my alarm each time, but it’s dangerous if you wait until later to wake up. I also haven’t found a way to set it to just repeat on its own every night, you have to manually tell it you’re sleeping now and set an alarm every night. So, I would say this app is good if you want a gentle alarm to wake you up for things you want to do in the morning sometimes, but not good if you need it for important things you’re waking up for.

Decent, yet buggy. I’ve used this app for a year now, and it’s allowed me some of the best sleep/wake up cycles I’ve ever had. The gradual wake up tool is really good. My big problem, however, is that some nights, the alarm will not go off - as if the app crashed in the middle of the night. For obvious reasons, that’s a big issue, and unfortunately this happens too much to ignore. I shouldn’t really have to set two alarms, but I have to for this app. I’m dissapointed in that regard, but happy with everythg else. I’d reccomend this app when that problem dissapears for good.

A bit disappointed. I’ve paid for this app, subscription based. I also chose this app because I trust the developer. It has better privacy features than other apps. You can chose not to back up each nights recording and they are deleted after a few weeks. Yes, it tracks your sleep and provides a journal along with additional information hints/tips on getting a better nights sleep. My only complaints are my bedtime rhymes, one of which is supposed to go for 41 minutes, cuts out at about 40 seconds!!!!!! I’ve tried numerous times and can’t get passed the same point. Also, compared to some apps the range of choices (in sleep sounds is quite slim). I would also like for some of them to actually last longer. It takes a while for me to wind down at night sometimes, and it’s during those nights I find myself having to hit the start button again. For the latter two concerns I took off the two stars.

Long term user. I downloaded this app when it first came out, so have used it for MANY years now. I’m a bit disappointed that features I have always used now I have to pay for. Another app that I’ve had forever that switched to a subscription offered 85% off for life seeming as I paid for it already, which I think was a nice thing to do for loyal customers... A great addition I can recommend would be a little section to the side or under where alarms are set which calculates how much sleep you’ll get between now and then. E.g. at 10pm you set an alarm for 6am, the app then tells you that you’ll get 8 hours of sleep. That would be awesome!

Money grabbing. I purchased Sleep Cycle when it was a one-off payment. It used to show insights about my sleep. Now they updated the UI slightly and removed my access to insights, asking me to pay for it. They broke their promise to let me keep access to all the features I had when I originally purchased the app. Not to mention the huge clutter they add trying to upsell you to the subscription. They make me feel like I was wrong to ever support this developer and give them money. Who knows how much more they will try to grab money, they have already started to use dark patterns to force people to start the trial in the hope that people forget to cancel it. It’s a shame that the developers have tarnished their good reputation to try to put more money into their own pockets.

Does not detect when I’m awake in the night. I have insomnia and wake up several times each night and wanted to track how much sleep I actually get. To test this app I purposely cough twice each time I’m awake, the sleep data shows me coughing but often states I am asleep when, in fact, I am awake. Also, I get up at least twice a night to go to the bathroom, I cough twice on waking and twice again on returning to bed a few minutes later. The app shows me as coughing whilst asleep (often showing me in deep sleep), even when I have got up and I am not in the bedroom. Can’t trust the app data, it is not accurate. I forgot to turn it off when I woke up one morning and it showed me as being in deep sleep when I was laying in bed, wide awake, watching television!

Used to be awesome, now it’s just a money grab by developers.. The paid (non subscription version) app is no longer any better than the built-in sleep app on the Apple watch. It used to be awesome. Sleep cycle was the first app I installed on my iPhone waaaaay back in the beginning of the App Store. It was simply awesome. It would buzz/vibrate if I snored to get me to adjust sleeping position, recorded the noise in my room, my sleep talking, allowed me to track my sleep against things like the lunar cycle, weather conditions, location (I traveled) and gave really meaningful insight into my sleep that was genuinely helpful. I moved away from apple products but came back purely for this app and the Apple Watch. That’s how great this app USED TO BE. Fast forward to 2022 and over time a lot of sleep cycle’s features have dropped off….. but SURPRISE!!! They all appear to coming back but only for PREMIUM subscribers. Yep. That’s right. The features I PAID for no longer exist without dedicating an extra $40/mth (-which is ludicrous-) to access. I get it that single purchase prices don’t bring in the same revenue as subscriptions, and that subscriptions to use apps was unheard of back in 2011… but whittling away at a loved product until it’s a shadow of its former self to extort money from people who’ve already invested is unconscionable. Shame on you, sleep cycle!

Snoring. I’ve been using Sleep Cycle every night for 5 years and in general, I love it. I would love to know what you are doing to improve the snore recording though? My husband snores loudly through the night, yet it picks up on my phone. We both use the app, and have the phones linked. Almost daily, we compare the snores and agree that it is always him. When I’m away on business, there is never any snoring recorded. I’d love to have an accurate record! Otherwise, a great app that both my husband and I will continue to use.

One of my most used apps!. I absolutely love this app - I’ve been using it since almost the beginning. I find it really useful to track my sleep habits, stats, and trends over time, and compare it to other people around the world. It’s incredibly useful, and also really interesting! My one criticism/piece of feedback for the app is that I paid many years ago for the full premium version, and since then, the app has moved to a subscription model. I do really appreciate that as a paid user, I keep my original features I paid for forever. I think that was a grea move, very thoughtful and also fair to us as users who had paid at the start. But I gotta be honest, I’m not loving being prompted to upgrade to a subscription. I understand the team must be constantly working to upgrade things, but I wish there was another business model outside of subscriptions. There are just too many subscriptions in general now, and after paying for a full version once I’m just not really keen to pay a regular fee. I’ll certainly keep what I have, and if there’s an opportunity to “pay once, keep for life” again, I’d probably take it, because the new features look fantastic. But adding another subscription to the long list is a no for me.

The best!. I’ve been using this app for years, I’ve been using it since I had my iPhone 4. Amazing app and has been great over the years being able to have my sleep analysed and having an optimised wake up has been crucial every single day. I can’t express how amazing this app is. One particular function I just thought of that I don’t think is available in the app currently is an option to set an alarm to wake you up when you have had a certain amount of sleep, for example if it detects that you have fallen asleep at 11pm and you select a 9hr sleep it will wake you up either around 8am or 8am on the dot. Other than that amazing app!

Disappointed long term user. So very very disappointed - have been using this app for years - so imagine my disgust when I opened the app for the first time after upgrading to version 6.9 to discover basic features like sleep notes and heart rate - features I have always used for free - I suddenly have to pay for!!!!!! Struggling with mental health issues, these two features really help me to understand my sleep patterns in association with my moods and to suddenly have them taken away seems nothing more than a cheap shot from the App developers to make a quick buck. Add insult to injury, all the data that I had stored from when it was free.......GONE! I WILL NOT be another of the 36 thousand subscribers who have upgraded to premium this week, as the app so proudly boasts when you open it.......I’ll be looking for a better option.

You should get the app. This thing lets you choose from either microphone or movement thingy I don’t know and it shows you how you slept and it actually is interesting and if you go into settings you can make it so then when you wake up you can rate on how you woke up. I also learnt a lot from this app as well and of course you won’t get why but you might know why at some point. And also I am wondering if there is going to be an update coming out soon. So yeah anyways five star more like 9 star (anyways if I did 10 star it would be too much stars) so by the way I thank the creators that created the app themselves too. So see yah 😴💤

Don’t download. Save yourself the hassle. Have been using the app since 2016 so over 5 years. It used to be great but since developers have upgraded the app in the past few years they don’t fix any bugs. I read their responses to peoples reviews here and laugh. Detects you sleeping even when you’re awake. Says you’re snoring and it’s just a car driving past or bird chirping or ceiling fan spinning. When you do email their customer service it is the worst experience imaginable - it took them over 3 weeks sending me on a wild goose chase so they could collect info and data from me going back and forth just for them to turn around and say despite I was gifted a lifetime premium subscription I would now have to pay for any new features. Used to love the app and recommend it, now I tell people not to touch it with a ten foot pole. It’s too expensive and is completely inaccurate. Such a disappointing experience from a long term customer. Their loss. Actually fix the app, listen to your customers or you will lose everyone including the loyal long term users like me.

Recent changes are not helpful. This app has stopped working effectively for me, and I can no longer rely on it as my wake up system. I have used this app for some time now, and up until recently I LOVED it - it was working really well, helping me to wake up gently and recording my sleeping stats. However in the last month or so, I have found it increasingly dissatisfying. The volume of the alarm has decreased and I cannot increase it to the level I need, so it sometimes does not wake me up. And in the last week the app has turned itself off numerous times. If I happen to wake up in the night and look at my phone, the app turns itself off. Please can these features be reviewed and fixed. I do not want to pay for an app that cannot be used for its intended function.

The best sleep tracker out there. I got the pro version. Not the ongoing subscription which there may be. And it is excellent. I paid for the full version literally because I loved it so much. I get so much value out of it, and am so glad to have made my purchase. Many updates, many features. The latest of which giving so many different sounds and music and GUIDES and POETRY to rest you to sleep. Honestly the work involved is impressive. It’s really great. At one point they realised there was an issue with the snore tracker. I was informed that they’d take it out until it was up to par, and sure enough, it’s back there, working great. Get this app.

Older iOS do not update!. Do not update, I don’t know if it’s for all iOS but I’m still on iOS 13.6 and since updating the app it has stopped working, it won’t even open just automatically crashes and closes itself. Reached out to the support with all the information and they kept asking me for info when it was already sent to them plus told me to just update my iOS. Firstly who are they to tell me to update my phone and second I can’t update even if I wanted to. I have had this app for 10 years when you could purchase once and that’s it (don’t understand making people subscribe to apps). Hoping they don’t make it so people on older iOS aren’t able to use the app as it’s been one of the best sleep apps I’ve used!!

1 issue. I’m a big fan of the app but I have one issue that concerns me, a few nights ago I had the alarm set to wake me up at 11:00am ( I’m a night worker). I expected to wake up to the nice calming usual alarm, but instead was woken up at 9:00am by a very loud and distressing repeated robotic beeping. Three quick beeps in succession which repeated, I remember hearing it in my dream for ages only to awake to find it was my phone making the noise. When I turned my phone on there was nothing indicating that the noise should be coming from it, I remember searching through my alarms and checking whilst the noise was happening only to find I had no alarms set (on the clock app on my phone), the loud noise only stopped after I closed the sleep cycle app. Apart from this, a great app !!!

Perf. I’m a very heavy sleeper, used to set 15+ alarms hoping I’d wake up to one of them (no kidding, no exaggeration). It took me a couple days to get used to this app because I couldn’t wake up to the alarm. But quickly it was the best thing; continuing to use it currently and it’s awesome to track my sleep and see the quality of sleep I’ve been getting. I love that it has sets of sounds or music of my choice to play for a certain amount of time to help me sleep, the alarm goes off for how long I want it to, the different kinds of tracking it does. LOVE the app, I highly recommend it.

Worth the subscription. Provides useful information your sleep. Beautifully designed. I’m using this App with an Apple Watch so I get a lot of data to analyse which isn’t difficult as everything is well laid out and clear. The developers have obviously worked hard to listen to feedback and improve it. I’m not surprised to see it won the Editor’s Award. I would ignore older reviews where people complain about free versions being limited to functionality, you get what you pay for. I think its definitely worth the annual subscription. But developers beware, don’t get greedy. This is a nice-to-have App, not a must-have App. I particularly like the Cabin Humm ambient sound and I’d like to see Car, Train etc added. Listening to water (unless its rain) when you’re in bed just doesn’t make sense. Less nature, more realistic ambiance please.

App is good but setup is dodgy. I found this app when it was first available and it haw been great. I believe I even made a payment fort it before the updates. However how that I'm setting it up in my new phone, there's literally no way to contribute unless you either pay the subscription or choose the free trial (even though it will work without it). I understand that the developer need to make money somehow but if you allow it to work for free then you have a button to skip the subscription page(however small doesn't matter) but not even having it and forcing people to choose the free trial and cancel (hoping someone will forget) is just some doggy stuff.

My opinions. I have so far been using this app for five years. I enjoy everything apart from: 1. The app UI being blue. Blue light is not good for sleep. 2. I often remember waking up in the middle of the night and the app doesn’t record it. Or I’m asleep the whole night and the app says I woke. 3. The sleep quality measurement doesn’t seem to account for waking up in the middle of the night. The quality measurement should take into account 90 minute sleep cycles (if they are possible to measure) and how waking up in the middle of the night affects them.

Best sleep tracker I’ve ever used!. I’m currently dealing with pretty severe insomnia and other sleep issues, so it’s really useful to be able to keep track of when I go to sleep so I can show it to people. I honestly don’t know how they do it, but it’s really accurate; I can’t think of a time it didn’t get my sleep/wake time spot on. It’s super easy to use, you just put it next to your bed and turn it on. Plus, the feature that records audio while you’re sleeping is really cool, I had no idea I talked in my sleep! I definitely recommend it!

Outstanding App of its type. I was one of the first people to buy this app many years ago and still use it through many upgrades. I’ve purchased and installed many similar apps, including ones attempting to use the Apple Watch to detect sleep state and they all fall short of Sleep Cycle. This app is precise, reliable and simple to use as well as loaded with features. (You don’t want to be setting up buggy apps in both phone and watch, unreliable alarms makes you anxious) Moreover the displays of sleep state and snoring sounds are easy to understand. Sleep cycle uses algorithms working of the microphone and has always worked through air conditioning sound even those noisy portable units for me. You can switch it to use the motion sensor in which case you must leave the phone on the mattress. The snooze alarm is brilliant because the snooze intervals shorten each time, making it impossible to overs snooze and resets by simply moving the phone.

Can we have multiple selection feature. Look the app is pretty cool, but it’s been recognising the fridge noise as baby fussing, which is not just annoying but somewhat scary as well. The app does not learn that it’s electric nosies no matter how many times I’ve amend the recording description. Having said that, can we have the multiple selection feature? It’s alright really annoying to have 20+ entries of baby fussing recoding, when you don’t even have a baby and it’s just your fridge; I’d like to delete them all with multiple selection, instead of deleting them one by one. Also, can we have the feature to save some recording permanently? Sometimes the sleep talk is quite funny and I’d like to keep it Overall great app

Interesting but weather indication not appearing. I’ve used sleep cycle for over a year now and I find it really interesting to see what affects my sleep - I’ve found that I snore more than I thought! Unfortunately over the last couple of months the weather has not been appearing with the alarm. Not a huge deal but it is very useful to see whenever I’m getting up early so I can prepare for the day Edit - I’ve just discovered that I can’t use my new Bluetooth headphones while sleep cycle is operating. This is a huge deal for me as listening to white noise/podcasts is essential to my ability to fall asleep. I now have to choose between headphones and sleep cycle :(

Sleep cycle for me. In all honesty, the sleep cycle app has motivated me to make several changes in my life that have been positive. By tracking my sleep I’ve been able to question reasons why the results shown by the app were as they were and in turn I’ve had to delve deeper into many other issues that were affecting my sleep. It is honestly worth far more than the yearly subscription asks, and if you choose not to pay you still get great use out of tracking your sleep.. I love this app and I love the person who introduced me to it. I’d highly recommend it :)

Mostly Good. So I’ve been using this app for a while now and so far it had been fine but I woke up one morning to see a night that practically said I was awake the whole night, except for the fact that I only remember waking up once, very vaguely. That night I had decided to put the fan on because it was a bit warm so I thought that might have affected the results. Apparently I was awake since like 2am which is absolutely ridiculous because somehow I was awake for 5 whole hours in bed, but I remember waking up at the time I had set the alarm but I did not hear the alarm. I will admit when I woke up I felt exhausted for some unknown reason but I had never got results like this beforehand. This was only one night, however, but I am beginning to question its accuracy when a fan is on.

Insomniac relief. Have suffered with insomnia since I was a teenager and had seen a ‘sleep coach’ at young age who provided tapes and strategies to combat the sleepliness, he passed away some time ago and for a long time I could never find anything even remotely similar to the relief he provided. Than during an extended bad period of insomnia I went searching hard for him, his practices and somewhere along that rabbit hole search found insight timer… it has and continues to be a welcomed and trusted part of maintaining a healthier sleep pattern like I experienced from my sleep coach all those years ago! I’ve also passed it onto my dad, nephew and various friends who have also benefited. Thanks insight timer!

WORKS!!! I feel alert when I wake. I have been using this app for 5 nights and I'm so impressed. I have been miserable almost everyday for months as I seem to wake up during REM or deep stage of the sleep cycle (I know from Fitbit sleep analysis). Waking during R.E.M. or deep stages of the sleep cycle makes me miss my morning workouts because I can't seem to open my eyes, and it also makes me tired throughout the day. I was searching on google and this fantastic app was recommended. Now I wake up during the light stage only, and I feel sooooo refreshed it's shocking what a difference it makes.

Need subscription for most of the features. Used it for over a year and love it but I had to cancel the yearly subscription last month and now I can’t listen to a single thing when going to sleep. I miss my ambient music - I’d even settle for classical but that’s not free either! Another thing I can’t access without paying my is when I go to sleep and if there are sounds recorded I can’t listen to the recording, also I can’t access any data in the weekly report apart from just the average time in my bed! When you have a subscription it’s great though and I love the nice alarm options in the app - they’re so much nicer to wake up to!

Pretty good,. I’m coming back to this ap after a while—- I can’t find the works trends?? Only thing that I'd change is the date on the calendar diary, it seems as though sleep is recorded over two days, but when you click on the past Calendar sleep days it only mentions one day. Like sleep is the last thing you do on any given date, not the first thing. In my mind it's the opposite... the ends when I sleep, sleep is the first thing I do in a day, therefore, all the dates recorded are on the wrong day, I slept today but it recorded today's sleep with yesterday's date... and that's even when I go to bed after 12am (which is always). 👍 Could make that an option? In settings.? Heart rate thing first thing in morning doesn’t seem to work on phones with multiple lenses. Fix that!! Also give me the option to do it after the first second i jolt to wake.

Sleep-changing app, many questions. This has really helped me get up in the morning, which was a daily struggle until recently. I normally don’t write reviews but I must commend Sleep Cycle for its intelligent snooze component. However, many questions do arise, like how are the variable noises of partners, fans and other disruptive noise kept accountable? These are points that have kept me from subscribing to the $$$ expected for premium. In my opinion, it should be a once off purchase or lower price because I do question it’s accuracy. Nonetheless, an amazing app! All future homes need this built-in once refined!

Shaves hours off my sleep time. I want to know why it takes an hour and a half off how long it says I was sleep for. I was in bed for 8:30, and fell asleep in 25 minutes. I didn't wale up in the night. Easy, 8 hours of sleep. The app will tell me I slept for 6:45. No I didn’t. I did not wake up. Even in the graph you can see I didn’t wake up. It never used to do this, it used to be accurate. I would like a sleep tracking app to, you know, track my sleep properly. Then this morning I wake up and realise more sleep would be better for me than my morning run. I cannot turn off the snooze option unless I want to stop tracking my sleep, which I don't want to do. This app needs an option of “I would like to sleep past my wake up time”. Well now I’m wide awake and sleep deprived and annoyed. Thanks sleep cycle :-) The only good thing about this app is the wake up window. I’m very close to deleting this app.

Really good.. This has helped heaps with me being able to wake up easily, and it’s also super easy to use so you can adapt it to whatever suits you. I find that the quality of sleep readings aren’t necessarily completely accurate just because if I turn over to the other side of the bed it would have a different recording of sound, but I’m not too fussed about that the main thing for me is the alarm, and by typing in what things you’ve done that day that might affect your sleep it has made me more aware of what potential affects those things could have.

Inaccurate. I have been using the app to test it for accuracy as I generally only get around 5 hours of sleep then am awake for the rest of the night. I listened to a sleep story to fall sleep. The sleep stories I tried use sound effects which are off putting and startling (eg piano lid closing in one) or music that sounds off key/badly tuned piano. It showed me as falling asleep within 8 minutes when I was still listening to the story. So I tried to talk during the sleep story by saying “I’m awake” but it doesn’t seem to have the capacity to record sound when a sleep story is playing. Also said “I’m still awake” multiple times during the night when I was awake and that was reflected as “sleep talking” when I was clearly awake to be consciously saying that I was awake. If you get up during the night you need to remember to take your phone with you otherwise it thinks you’re asleep. I’m hoping I have Cancelled my subscription before it bills me as I won’t bother using the app again.

Keeps asking me to subscribe to premium. I really like the app. However the last few weeks, EVERY time I open the app it has a pop up window asking me to upgrade to premium. There is no way to permanently disable this. It is so frustrating. I looked through all the setting just in case. And it doesn’t matter if I had the app open even 5 seconds ago. If I closed the app, that pop up window will be there when I next reopen. This is frustrating as normally I’m opening it when I am tired and I am expecting to press the big start button, roll over and go to sleep. But they have placed the “subscribe” button in the exact same place. There have been some nights where I didn’t realise I hadn’t pressed start, and I wake up to my leave for work alarm instead. I’m just happy I haven’t accidentally actually paid for the subscription THAT I DO NOT WANT. Prior to this I would have rated it 5 stars.

Feedback for the developers. I love parts of the app, especially the stories and the fact I’m waking up easier because I’m not in a deep sleep but ….. multiple times it’s told me I’ve been asleep when I know for a fact I’ve been awake and even gotten up and left the room. It’s said I’ve been sleep talking when I’ve actually been awake talking to the dog - so the journal and statistics are not accurate. Also it doesn’t recognise birds singing so maybe you could add that to your list of noise options. I was initially going to recommend this to friends but the longer I’ve used it I’ve come to see that it’s really not accurate.

Amazing app. This app has a crazy amount of features i never knew i spoke in my sleep almost every night until i got this app, but it would be amazing if you guys could integrate the rem sleep stage into the charts because i want an clear view of when i’m in rem sleep, i’ve been interested in trying to lucid dream and i purchased a mask but i don’t know what time i’m in rem sleep. I have an apple watch which tracks my heart rate which spikes in rem sleep stages but it’s just so hard to understand, so if you could find a way to change the layout of sleep stages to a similar way as the oura ring it would be very helpful.

Was good, but no longer. I have used this app for a couple of years without problem, however an update a couple of months ago has changed things. For an alarm, I use the clock app that comes with iPhone. I use the Sleep Cycle app to help me fall asleep and monitor my sleep. After a recent update when my clock app alarm goes off in the morning, now the Sleep Cycle app starts playing its music/tune. I typically hit snooze once to twice before I get up, but now I hit snooze but the music in the Sleep Cycle app keeps playing hence I have to pick-up my phone and stop the app. I have contacted support and they identified the problem and indicated that a new update would fix it. The new update didn't fix it hence I'm now left with no fix to this very annoying problem. Get your act together!!! I have the full paid subscription to the app and the support has essentially been useless as they haven't solved the problem they created. Not happy.

Maralyn. I have used sleep cycle now for two years, it has become a routine in my life both evening and morning. In the evening I enjoy the stories they offer to help you drift off to sleep. In the morning I enjoy listening to a song of my choice as my alarm which I change regularly the night before , another fun part of my evening routine. I do my heart rate in the morning, listen to my snoring, always terrible, but checking out all the things that could have effected my sleep, even the moon. Overall the data it provides me with is incredible it has been helpful to not only me but to my Doctor, resulting I me having a sleep test which showed I had sleep apnea. Needless to say I have found this a great resource for my wellbeing.

Not that efficient when you share the bed with someone. The app works great when I’m sleeping alone. But as a married person, I find that there’s another person in my bed the majority of the time. The app doesn’t seem to be able to differentiate between me and my partner. I go to sleep earlier than my partner and he’s often in bed watching movies on his laptop at that time. When he does go to sleep, he also snores very loud. As it is, the app records his snoring and the sound he make instead of tracking me. Considering he has no interest in sleeping tracking, I cannot make him use sleep cycle on his side to counter my data either. I ended up buying a smart ring to track my sleep instead. It’s a pity. I really like the app.

Don’t upgrade to premium - it steals your money. I’ve been using the free version of this app for about three months now and loved it enough to upgrade to the premium subscription. However, despite the subscription being active and the app apparently knowing this, the app will not allow me to use the premium features that I’m paying for. I have an iPhone 12 pro and every time I try to view my statistics or listen to the audio the app has recorded it prompts me to upgrade before informing me that I’m already subscribed. I really hope that the developers fix whatever this bug is because as it is they’ve flat out scammed me out of my money

Love it. Works brilliantly, especially the alarm which is always such a gentle way to wake up. Recommended. Edit 1 March 2022. For a while now this app will stop recording movements and give me a flatline reading and a “very few movements” warning. It’s super annoying because I miss out on data for that day and have to reboot my phone so that it will work for a few more days. It was happening with an older version of the app and whatever iOS version I had on my phone previously, but I now have the latest version of the app and iOS 15.3.1 and it’s still happening. Please fix!

World Data …... I’ve been using Sleep Cycle for a year or so and have noticed the data on steps etc. doesn’t change in either count or country which I find extremely strange. The sounds recorded which you can play back on your weekly report is hideous….. Some of the data is incorrect as I’ve seen awake for up to an hour or so before nodding off and the next morning it tells me I was asleep in 11 minutes…. The other thing is it doesn’t distinguish between you or your partner snoring or coughing.

Have faithfully used this for years.. but. I’m disappointed that the app has removed access to free features that were free from the beginning, like being able to listen to recordings of sleep talking, snoring etc. It seems to be a cheap money grab to squeeze long term users by taking away more and more free features over time, so they are forced to pay for basic features. —— I’ve used Sleepcycle nightly for many years and love to check it daily for sleep patterns. It’s pretty accurate and insightful. Only problem is, in recent months the app has been crashing in the middle of the night, or turning off by itself, therefore no alarm in the mornings and this has caused a few embarrassing situations oversleeping and missing appointments. It has become unreliable and now I have to find an alternative which can be relied on. Update: the alarm issue was solve by uninstalling and reinstalling. Another update: the 30 day free trial is a scam. I signed up for it and I was charged for the whole year from Day 1!! So even if I cancel now I still have to pay for the whole year.

I love it but.... I’ve had this app since it first came out, and have been enjoying the new beta version. I love how I wake up feeling great every single time I use it. But my worry is that it’s causing my battery to have problems. I always have it plugged in overnight. Three times now I’ve had the phone crash in the morning, saying the battery is empty (and you can see the icon drain within the first minute of unplugging in the morning). And then the phone switched off. It needs to be restarted twice to allow it to show the battery full. My phone is only 2 years old. It’s not got a bad battery (81% of original life according to the battery app). I don’t want to use this app again if it is damaging my phone.

Very good but one suggestion. So it all very good you know how it listens to your sleep and has the sounds but there is one problem where I think it really needs to fix. It’s the alarm. Now don’t get me wrong the sounds are great, the thing I want to talk about is how it goes off there isn’t an easy way to turn it off. I have used it for 2 nights and both times when I have woken up the alarm has gone off and I couldn’t turn it off. When you turn on your phone you can’t just click stop like with a normal alarm, you have to go into the app and swipe it or something like that. In the morning when it wakes me up, I don’t always think straight when I first get up. When it goes off I have to frantically turn it off so I don’t wake up my family (we wake up at different times). The second night my Touch ID wasn’t working so I had to put it my password quickly getting it wrong twice. I then went into the wrong app. I than just gave up and turned my phone. Making mornings hard which is the whole point on why I got this app so I wouldn’t be. So I really hope you can fix this Thanks Bye

If you’re on the fence about buying this app and need to read a review..... Sleep Cycle. I can’t remeher when I bought it, it must have been years ago.. But it’s the first app that actually does what it says it’s going to do, and do it as seamlessly as a iOS app. Sleep cycle uses the accelerometer, microphone and now even Apple Watch to monitor your deep and light sleep cycles and wake you up at the perfect time as your body leaves deep sleep. Being woken up by an alarm in the middle of your deep sleep rhythm gives you that feeling of being hit in the face by a train, but this app elects you to chose a 30 min window to be woken up and start your day feeling refreshed and revitalised. In adddition to its numerous health data tracking and statistics, the app has never failed me and has woken me up for work perfectly after a few hours sleep and a really rough night out. If you’re sceptical I hope this review will turn you over, because it’s the money I’ve ever spent on an app!

Cancelling the app down to free. Hi. This app is fantastic. Started using the app for free. Wanted to ensure family had the app but can’t download unless it’s paid. Can cancel later. So I just checked my install - it took half an hour on Apple to work out that I subscribed in July 2011!!!! Should have been faster. Have been using computers for 40 years including programming - this is an amazing unacceptable situation and yourselves and Apple need to fix it. What do non-techies do? Seriously it’s rip-off alley when a user can’t just cancel. Stop it. Secondly I can’t trust your app cancellation process to sign up my whole family - some will cancel to the free status. I can’t even cancel my own application as my 2011 sign up don’t want off a off-ramp for my 2023 signup……. Can you provide answers please? It’s a great app - can’t speak more highly but this ‘walled garden’ is unethical and simply robbery.

Another fantastic subscription service. Paid for this app, used it for a while, then the dev decided to turn this app into an going subscription under the guise of fantastic new features! Well, I don’t want the new features. I don’t want updates. I don’t want “ongoing support”. I just want what I paid for. You can no longer use the app if you paid for it, you can’t even progress to the main screen — it’s a forced subscription. What if I just want a basic alarm to replace the loud and obnoxious alarms that come with the iPhone? Too bad, it’s a subscription now. It should be illegal to pull the rug out from under customers, but this is the state of modern apps. Give old customers the chance to restore their purchases and unlock a legacy version of the app with the newer subscription features locked out.

Great app, date display is annoying.. This is a great app for anyone who wants better feedback on and control over their sleep. My only problem is in the statistics page; I finish work late at night and often don't get to bed until the early AM hours, so I go to bed and get up on the same day. Despite this, the date displayed on the Statistics page is always 'across' two days, like "Sunday 13-14 May", even if all the sleep took place entirely on Monday the 14th, which doesn't make any sense. It's a trivial detail but I still wish I could do something about it.

This app has helped me!. I am so unorganized it’s ridicules! I would never wake up at the right time to get ready for school or understand why I felt like crap in the morning! This app helped me better understand my habits and realize how bad my current sleeping pattern was! I have vastly improved my structure (regarding my sleep habits) and am very happy with the result! I am so thankful I found this app! It’s worth the money I payed! ❤️❤️❤️ get it if you need the help like I did!

I like it but one day it stop working and I can’t find solution. One day I woke up in the middle of the night from some app notification sound. Since that day this app stops to mute notifications or call. I try to find a way to fix it but I can’t. Hope the crew can see this and send some solution.

NOT WATCH SERIES 5 READY. Very disappointed the app isn’t watch s5 ready, but overall a decent app. I will have to find another app for the watch and leave this one out.

Unreliable. Crashes in the middle of the night, making me miss my alarm.

App crashes during the night. Second time the app crashes during the night. It made me miss my first class. I’m going back to more reliable alarms.

Won’t let me past the subscription page. I downloaded the app then set up my account but as soon i had set up my account a subscription page popped up and it wouldn’t let me get rid of it or give clear indication of using it without it i can’t even delete my account because i can’t use the app

Gone downhill. I’ve used this for a very long time. All the way back to 2013. While they keep changing it and making you pay for more, that’s fine the issue is it’s become far less reliable. It wouldn’t always stay on. After this last update, it usually closes after 15-30 minutes. Making it utterly useless. Not even having a support to contact is basically the final straw. Do not give them money. Do not waste your time with this app.

A game-changer. I’ve been using SC for seven years, as a premium subscriber for most of that time. I used to rate it five stars, but I admit I’ve soured on it and wouldn’t necessarily recommend it. Minus one star for prioritizing strange, saccharine messages supposedly delivering ‘Insights’. (I shudder to think how cringy ‘SleepGPT’ must be… the tone of the Insights function doesn’t inspire me to try.) Minus another star for not being able to turn off the ‘Insights’ panel in the journal— there are literally dozens of options I can turn on and off with Premium, but I can’t turn off the repetitive, dad-joke-flavoured Insights? Yikes. Minus one more star for not putting more resources into supporting non-standard sleep patterns such as segmented/polyphasic sleep. Cmon, folks, it’s 2024 and there’s more ways to tweak one’s sleep cycle than the solid 8. I’ll keep using it only because my sleep history is interesting to continue building and reflect on every now and then. However if SC continues to try and be my best AI friend and not really help me tune my sleep game, I will peace-out and find another app.

Apple Watch?. App dissppeared from Apple Watch without warning nor explanation

Dark pattern Nagware. I’m an original purchaser, who does not want to use any of the premium features. In the last week, sleep cycle pops up the subscription dialog once per day every day right when I am going to bed and turning on the alarm. The confirm button is the same color and right where the start button on the alarm screen would be.

Not transparent. You have basically signed up before they tell you it's $40 a year. That should be on the first page before you provide any information. Based on that....I'll pass.

Agréable se réveiller si doucement.... J'aime pouvoir me mettre des rappels aussi souvent et la possibilité de choisir une sonnerie douce. J'aime cette appli.

Can’t enter app. Can’t even look around in the app, prompts you to sign up for subscription or free trial right away. I wanted to have a look at the first, also thought there was some free options.

Charging fees without notice!!!. Got charge 34$ for 1 year renewal without any notification whatsoever... worse part of it is I erased the app a year and a half ago and don’t even have it on my phone anymore!!! I WANT MY MONEY BACK !!!

iCloud. 34,99$ to backup? Why don’t use iCloud?

Help.. I would love to rate this app but Why put it free to download if the moment I open it you shove paying you money to use it down my throat with no way to exit without paying !

What a scam. Balls to you guys. Stripped out all the features for every premium user who supported you early on. Thanks for that. Now please go BLEEEP yourself. Your app is worth $10 one time at best. Not $39, let alone $39 A FREAKING YEAR! I’m gonna take this up with Apple.

stupid app. downloaded the app, thinking it was a sleep tracker that could help me with my sleep, come to find out I have to pay $50 a month and I can’t even use the app on its free version ,If there is one. kind of annoying that it doesn’t tell you you gotta pay 50 bucks a month for a free app.

Early adopter. As someone who paid when the app was in its infancy — back in 2012 — I’m deeply disappointed that early users have not been grandfathered in to keep the features they had paid for.

Beware!!. I deleted the app after a week because I didn’t want the subscription service and it ended up charging 35$ for a year subscription. It’s pretty ridiculous that the business model is based off of hoping that you forget to cancel the subscription. I’m all for charging for a product but don’t be shady about it.

Horrible. After being an early adopter who has used this app for years, it stops running in the middle of the night and I keep waking up late with no alarm. Now I set my Apple alarm for my wake time and this app for the times it doesn’t work. Silly really so I retire an old favourite that seems to have died and I just noticed a pretty sad privacy standard.

Great app. I have used it for almost 2 years and the different stats that are tracked help me figure out when and why I get my best sleeps.

Consistently unreliable. Edit: updated app since dev feedback, still having the same errors, the alarm not going off issue seems even worse now and others are reporting it also. I would recommend avoiding this app completely - it’s degraded significantly in quality over time. App crashes/stops working randomly some nights - has made me late too many times. Do not trust Sleep Cycle as your alarm - some nights after setting it up and I can see it tracking/listening before bed, and then in the morning I’ll wake up late with a “good morning” notification and NO ALARM and all of the data it was collecting overnight is completely gone as if I didn’t turn it on, even though I did and the app is greeting me as if I did and before sleeping I can see it “working”. It’s not a consistent error, but enough that I can’t trust it to actually do its two most important functions. Might recommend investing into a wearable smart device instead for something reliable and accurate. *I bought this app a long time ago*

Lame. Everything that used to be free has a charge now 🙄 your app is not worth 39$ a year

Disappointed. Really disappointed that I bought the app in its early stages and now that I decided to download it again they are trying to charge me a subscription. They should be offering to give me the money I paid for back. Ridiculous!

Late for work. The app seemed to be working like any other night (I’ve used it a while now) and one morning I woke up to the app prepared to go off at 6-6.20 but the actual time was 8.30. I was 2 hours late for work, and the app hadn’t made a sound. The weird thing was it looked as though it were still functioning, but when I closed the app and reopened it it hadn’t recorded anything. I obviously won’t be paying this app anymore to not do its job.

Pricey. I love this app it’s very useful and I love the smart alarm. The only downside that premium is way too expensive. 40$ a year for premium. I think that premium is overpriced plus it includes feature that free account should have. In conclusion I like this app but they should have put more stuff for free accounts

Power drainer. This new watch app drain battery so fast, nearly 50% per night. And why on earth u turn on mic on watch when u have ur phone next to you!

Five stars, BUT. I do like the app. I used to love it… Like many others, I once had access to the features now locked down. In all other apps, my purchase was grandfathered in, a fair way to deal with the price increase or program change. While the basic features I have are helpful, I want my other features back, the ones I paid for. They are helpful for goal setting and for understanding my sleep metrics. Please, give me my features back. The app is excellent otherwise.

Makes you sign up for a trial before even using it. They hope you forget and get charged a year. Scummy practice.

Forced membership trial 10 years after purchasing? Scam!. Don’t fall for the scam. Paid for the app in 2012. Now being forced to do a “free trial” so that I can restore my previous purchase? Also, features I paid for now being taken away. After another user commented they were immediately charged for the full year when they started the trial, I’m not about to be scammed out of $50. Was told by customer support “this is how the app works at this point in time”. Then the developers need to fix it. App deleted.

Too many pay walls and not grandfathering in lifetime subscription. So I’ve had this app since it’s infancy. It was featured on the App Store and IFLTI newsletter back in 2015. I downloaded it, and loved all the features. Tracking my sleep health helped me improve my overall health, and seeing how My sleep hygiene compared to others within Canada and globally with the reports put me at ease. I loved it so much, I paid for the lifetime app. Well now we know devs love subscription services, and just like that, I have basic access to an app I paid for years ago. Pros of this app: White noise with lots of options Gentle wake up or immediate wake up options Tracks your sleep health Cons: -Without subscription, no longer able to see comparable data for your sleep habits. - less access to the white noise -buggy and crashing often -expensive subscription to get back all the features. TLDR: for what this app does in the free version, go get another app. The paid isn’t worth the price unless you’re a new user who doesn’t know what you had free before 🙃

What a scam. After I updated my sleep cycle app yesterday it got rid of all my premium features (I bought the app when it wasn’t free in its earlier days). I am very disappointed that you have gotten rid of these features that I PAID FOR! I found it very nice that you offered many of the premium features to those who had supported your app in its early stages like me, but now you’ve stripped that away from me. I just can’t believe they would do that to the people that made their app worth their time and pushed it to popularity.

Money money. It’s nice and all but I not going to spend money on it.

Too expensive. This is an app that should cost a dollar or two one time, not an annual subscription rate of $29! The problem is that as powerful as an iPhone is, the technology has real limitations in trying to decode something as mysterious as sleep patterns using only a motion sensor for input. For example, I can (and frequently do) lie awake for one to several hours and if I’m lying still, Sleep Cycle is tricked into interpreting my lack of movement as deep sleep. I would also like to see a feature whereby when I wake up I can check the sleep cycle to that point and decide whether to try going back to sleep or not - and be able to return the app to sleep mode. At present once I check the cycle that’s it - I have no capability to prolong g the cycle at that point. The app works well enough given its technological limitations, but the quality of the sleep information reported back to you just isn’t worth such a ridiculously high price.

Be careful.. Not sure about others. But I deleted the app the next morning. I thought it’s gone. But I received a bill for 1 year sub @ near $40, even I am not going to use it for the next 12 months. So, be sure to un-sub if you delete app. And, 1 of the reasons I deleted the app is because it consumes a lot of battery over night. So the watch may not have sufficient battery life for the rest of day. If you have another charger at office, it may be ok. Reminder: be aware of auto-subscription.&

Nicki. I had this app a few years ago... then got rid of it ...( forgot why ) Got it again two months ago and everything that was free you now have to pay for ... Disappointed... I have enough bills , don’t need a monthly bill for a phone app !!!

Was great until it was creepy. I loved this app but I don’t feel comfortable using it after discovering that two accounts using the same wifi network and the microphone will link, which shows other people when you’ve gone to sleep. Imagine trying to use it in a dormitory or hotel. I do understand that my data isn't being shared in the way a product team might think of data, but it does share when I've gone to bed with people who absolutely should not have that information. I really think the product team at Northcube AB hasn't put enough thought into personal safety. Unfortunately, I can't see myself continuing to use the app without being able to turn off the automatic linking. It's simply a matter of not being able to trust the product team to make good decisions.

Was great when it worked.. I have been using this app for at least 10 years without an issue until the past couple of months and now it is completely unreliable. I can’t count on it to go off when it is suppose to anymore. That’s the one job it is suppose to do. You set an alarm to go off at a certain time and it can’t even do that anymore.

Not supporting old users. I purchased this all years ago when it was a one time fee. Now that they’ve switched to a subscription I cannot access the app at all and have lost whatever I originally paid for. It makes original supporters of the app feel unappreciated.

don't be a jeffry. adonis

Great app. I like this app. I've compared it to other sleep apps and it's graphs seem to match other apps.

Easy to use. It’s giving me finally a picture of what is happening and helping me make the changes to improve.

App Crashes. I've been using this app almost everyday for 5.5 years now and it's been great to me, only a couple of times has it crashed in the middle of the night. However, more recently, I have missed two meetings in the span of two weeks due to the app crashing during the night and no alarm going off. This really hampers the greatness of the app if it cannot self sustain. The devs need to find a way to force priority for this app or to make sure the phone environment prior to setting the alarm is setup to be least likely to cause a crash. Maybe even have the app set an alarm through Apple's iOS clock as backup and in the case the Sleep Cycle alarm is never turned off in the event of a crash, the Apple alarm will initiate. Please get this fixed.

Upgrade. Hi For premium member, add some new wake up sound plz! Also add the possibility to remove wakeup sound we do not like in the random wakeup sound mode plz! Thanks for considering!

It stopped working. Iv been using this for months now, but then It just stopped working a week after I bought the premium! I can only use the analysis and not the alarm itself. If I knew it would be like this I wouldnt have purchases the premium 1 year

Not enough information for purchase. The lack of information this app gives you is astounding! I’m particularly “impressed” by their Q&A upon purchasing a free trial. There’s nothing really there to help a confused buyer know what they’re getting into. I mean really, this is what one of the questions says: How do I cancel my subscription? The Sleep Cycle Premium subscription, $39.99, renews annually. Each renewal will be charged once from your iTunes account

Disappointed. I’ve used this app since 2016 and like others, paid for it when it wasn’t a free service upfront. Yes it was like $3 BUT the point is I paid for the premium features already. You allowed your customers to use it for years for the one time payment and then, without warning, update and deny them the features they’ve been using for years? Disappointing customer service and system. I’m deleting and won’t be paying the obscene cost of $40 a year. It WAS a good app, I liked the white noise and the sleep tracker but frankly the tracker isn’t very accurate (on nights I couldn’t sleep it would report high sleep quality if I was still as it only tracks movement) and the white noise can be found on YouTube for free.

Not accurate. I’ve used this app for a few years it used to be great till they updated looks completely different now. I find it’s not accurate anymore. Nights I’ve had a great sleep it shows I was up most of the night. When I’ve had a crappy night it shows I slept great. Don’t know why I don’t just delete it.

Insights?. I’ve enjoyed this app (premium) for over 10 years. Please give me the option to remove “Insights”. I don’t need or want it because it’s useless.

Not Worth the Space Anymore. I‘ve been using this app since 2016 with no trouble until recently. At the beginning of the pandemic they made the sleep aid sounds available for free to everyone, and a few weeks ago they took them away with no warning. I suppose it’s my fault for becoming somewhat dependent on them to sleep, but it felt dishonest or at least icky for them to yank them away like that. I used them one night, the next night I no longer had access. Now it tells me the smart alarm is becoming a premium feature unless I make an account and give them my email etc. Without it the app is the same as my Apple clock app alarms and therefore useless. I can’t afford to pay money for a sleep app, so I’m forced to find another one after four years with this one. I didn’t mind when the UIs changed or when the premium users got a bunch of new fancy features to track sleep talking that it hints at but won’t let me access, but this is taking away the only feature that actually makes this app worth the space on my phone. I have never written a review for an app before, but I really liked this one and relied on it and now it is letting me down.

Glitchy alarms now. This app was one of my favorite apps. I am an OG paid user. One of the reasons why I loved it was the gentle way it could wake you up. (It does not take me a lot to wake up especially when I am not in a deep sleep cycle) what I loved about this app was that I could select a song on my iPhone and it would start SOFTLY playing it as my alarm in the morning. It has stopped doing that. The soft quiet alarm that would SLOWLY build in volume is gone. Now is starts “quiet” and then within a span of like 1.5 seconds, its loud and shocking…which I don’t need. It makes me angry when I wake up like that. Not a good way to start your day. Then, randomly, it decides to select a completely different song than the one I choose. I have woke up to the same track for over 10 years…and it will randomly pic a hard rock song or a jolting uptempo song that I would not want to wake up to. Its a sad issue, because that is one of the main reasons why ai liked this app. A gentle alarm to wake me up needs to return. Please fix this issue or allow there to be more settings to use to change pace of gradual increase in volume. And, please, fix the song glitch. Thank you.

Used to be better. I don’t know what has happened to this app recently, but it has really started to not work well. I have been having issues with the app crashing regularly, if I change the microphone location (i.e. turn on noise-cancelling headphones due to rude and loud neighbours) the app stops recognising the microphone and stops working, and over the last week there have been areas of time that the app is claiming I am awake when I know there is no possible way I was awake in any form during the time it is claiming. The heartbeat monitor is hit and miss a lot. The “smart” wake up is pretty annoying when you have it set up for waking up over 30 minutes and no alarms start until 2 minutes before you have to get up - which is a pretty crappy transition with their full volume alarms suddenly blaring off and no actual gradual transition. I have used this app for years, but am getting ready to ditch it with all of the garbage it has been doing lately. Also sent an email to the company about the Bluetooth issue and they thought it was good enough that I found the work-around of having to always hookup my noise-cancelling headphones, whether I wanted to wear them or not. Really disappointing.

Awesome…except. I am addicted to this app, but it is not perfect. It’s great to track when you go to bed and when you wake up- and it is so cool that it records your sounds while sleeping… but there are a lot of hours where I am wide awake festering and being an insomniac but laying still in bed trying to sleep that the app recognizes as “sleep.” The sleep quality measure is a mystery - Some of the nights I toss and turn the most are classified as 100% quality, I think based solely on the hours I’ve been in bed. It’s seems, once I fall asleep it is generally more accurate but still sometimes I get up and go to the bathroom and get a snack and it still has me in “sleep” stage. Given that it’s an app and I don’t wear it on my wrist pr have to keep it under my pillow it’s still pretty impressive what it can do from the nights as. And I think it is going to improve and it is definitely worth a download. It’s really cool to listen to your sleeping self. For that part I give it 5 stars. And for usability I give it 5 stars. Accuracy will improve.

Feature Request – Addition of a “Using CPAP Machine. Dear Sleep Cycle Team, I hope this message finds you well. I am a regular user of your Sleep Cycle app and have greatly benefited from its features in monitoring and improving my sleep quality. I would like to suggest an enhancement that could be particularly useful for a segment of your user base, including myself. Many individuals, for medical reasons, use a Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) machine during sleep. The CPAP machine, while essential for health, generates additional noise that can interfere with the sleep tracking accuracy of your app. This is especially true for the sound analysis feature of Sleep Cycle, which might misinterpret the noise from the CPAP machine as snoring or other sleep disturbances. To address this, I propose adding a simple toggle or switch within the app that users can activate to indicate they are using a CPAP machine. This toggle can inform the app’s algorithm to adjust its sound analysis accordingly, ensuring more accurate sleep tracking and analysis for those of us using such devices. Implementing this feature would not only enhance the user experience for a significant user group but also underscore Sleep Cycle’s commitment to inclusivity and personalized sleep health. Thank you for considering this suggestion. I am looking forward to seeing continuous improvements in your app, which has already been a great aid to many.

Reliable until it isn’t.. I had been a happy user of Sleep Cycle for over a year until last week, when I noticed I’d keep oversleeping. I’m a deep sleeper so at first I suspected that I had just slept through, but upon further investigation it just seemed like my alarm would never go off. Furthermore, I’d see notifications of “Sleep Cycle Alarm Snoozed” when I didn’t even snooze anything—how could I snooze something that didn’t even go off? I checked for updates, restarted my phone, and I’m still having this problem. I have a theory that whenever I wake up before my 30 minute alarm window and tap my phone screen to check the time, my Sleep Cycle alarm becomes silent. Thankfully I’ve had a break from work the last couple weeks so I can afford to sleep in, but this won’t be the case next week. I can no longer rely on Sleep Cycle to wake me up and will need to set a backup iPhone alarm. I’m very disappointed as I did enjoy using this app.

DISAPPOINTED...no longer supports Apple Watch. Sleep Cycle use to be the best sleep tracking app, hands down. I’ve been using it for years. The inclusion of the Apple Watch sleep and snore tracking was awesome and worked flawlessly. The alarm feature via vibration on the Apple Watch was very impressive and prevented waking up my spouse. That feature along with snore tracking were what set this app apart. Without Apple Watch integration sleep cycle is nothing more that a smart alarm clock, and not a very good one once you’ve used it with the Apple Watch. The watch helps to sense your movements and better predicts when its time to wake up based on your perfect wake up window. I’m very disappointed to see that the Apple Watch is no longer supported. I’m sure it’s due to Apple restrictions or Apple trying to purchase the technology, but removal of a key and health beneficial function after perfecting it over the years is a huge mistake. Knowing how critical sleep is and the impacts to a persons health it would be to everyone’s benefit to determine how to bring back this key support/integrated function. APPLE DON’T TAKE YEARS TO INTEGRATE INTO WATCH OS, or allow Apple watch support back into the Sleep Cycle Apple. Please!!!

Glitches. I’m so bummed. I have used this app for around 7 years now and never once had a problem with it— until now. I even pay the ridiculous fee for a yearly membership every year so I can have better wake-up sounds, more detailed data, and can listen to my snoring. All of these features are wonderful and I have recommended this app to everyone I know. HOWEVER. I got a new phone in the middle of November and ever since, it will CLOSE OUT OF THE APP while I’m sleeping. So 1. My alarm never goes off, 2. It doesn’t save any data from that night, and 3. I risk oversleeping/being late to work. I’m so sad that this is glitching on me—my membership just automatically renewed on Dec 28th so I just paid for a year of features I’m likely not able to even use :( when this app works, it’s worthy of MORE than 5 stars. The calm wake up sounds are my favorite—most other alarms (I’m looking at you, fruit phone company) wake me up in a manner that make me stressed/anxious and give me a borderline heart attack lol. Pls fix these glitches for the newer phone models— I don’t want to search for a new app to use cause I’m loyal, but I will if I have to.

Excellent App (Update to average). I never write reviews, but feel this app is so good that I should recommend it. I am not a morning person at all, but have found using this alarm to be woken at my lightest sleep period is a great aid to waking feeling refreshed and ready to see the morning. A nap feature would be a great asset to add to this app. I highly recommend this app to anyone who consistently wakes up in the morning feeling groggy and unable to get out of bed. Your sleep and waking will be revolutionized by this app. Update: Since my original review, this app has gone from 5 to 3 stars. In rolling out more features, the basic sleep tracking has declined. During periods of insomnia, the tracker will show me deep in sleep (while using the device to read or surf the web and definitely not just lying still). The heart rate tracker using the camera works about 1/10 times, usually it just gets to about 3/4 of the way finished and hangs up there, for minutes, forever if I’d let it, until the skip button is pressed. Get back to basic tracking and stop adding so much fluff.

2023: The year that I used Sleep Cycle Every day. I began using this app at the start of 2023 with a daily commitment, which I maintained. Over time, I've observed an improvement in my sleep patterns. It's particularly insightful to see the nights when I struggled to sleep or talked in my sleep, issues I only became aware of through the app's detection. However, a couple of drawbacks keep it from earning five stars. Firstly, the app doesn't support naps. I'd like it to track naps and their effect on subsequent sleep quality, ensuring the data isn't inadvertently deleted or overwritten. Secondly, I wish for widget support, particularly to leverage the standby feature in iOS 17 for easy alarm setting. Some tips that I have is that after my first month of usage with a 90-minute wake-up window, I found that a 15-minute interval was far more effective. Also, I love that the app has the ability to share data with Apple Health is also a tremendous benefit and being able to see all my data from other health apps on one page is really nice

Used to love but now it’s meh. I’ve been using this app for years and have been paying for premium nearly as long. But the last year or so, I’ve grown weary and disappointed with this sleep tracking. It’s way too easy to stop the tracking if I pick my phone up to move it in the night. I’ll glance and see the “how did you sleep?” that signals the end of tracking. I’d love to be able to cancel that and have it go back to sleep, but no. Have to end the night and sometimes start it over. The app doesn’t add those together and assumes separate sleeps. It’s not offering great suggestions when it clearly shows I don’t sleep well and wake up every night around the same time. Maybe better meditations in-app? The sleep notes mean nothing - you can’t graph by time period - I’d like to know for the last week how the notes affect sleep, not just “all time.” Not happening. It’s an okay alarm - I like the intelligent snooze and that it displays weather upon waking. But I’m also finding built in sleep tracking from my phone is getting better so this app is becoming a burden.

SLEEP MODE on Apple Watch breaks the snooze function. This was one of my favorite features of an Apple Watch - wearing it to bed and having Sleep Cycle wake me up silently in the most gently part of the 30 minute sleep phase leading up to my alarm. And the intelligent snooze is great, giving you something 5 minutes, then 4 minutes, then 3, etc. However, with iOS 14 and WatchOS 7, Apple introduced Sleep Mode. For whatever reason, having Sleep Mode on when you get a wake up alarm on Apple Watch makes it so that Snooze is not an option. I have fallen back to sleep and been late to work because the snooze function completely breaks when Sleep Mode is on. I had to test this out, so I turned off sleep mode and turned on the recommended settings: Do Not Disturb and Theatre Mode (which also silences your watch, so you only get a haptic alert on wake up). I set the alarm for 5 minutes in the future. Put my wrist down, screen goes black as expected. Soon after, I get the haptic wake up alarm, and the screen that says “Alarm from Sleep Cycle.” I press “Open” and I’m brought to the Sleep Cycle watch app and the intelligent snooze begins, and alarm turns off! It works! Sleep mode is the problem. With sleep mode on, I press “Open” when the alarm starts, and then I’m brought to the Sleep Cycle watch up and it says it’s snoozing, but the alarm keeps playing continuously. The only button to press is “Stop” which turns off your alarm altogether.

This app does not have snore stopper. I post this review for the benefit of new users who may have read about the snore stopper feature widely publicized a few years back. There is no such feature I can find. There is no mention of it in the support site. I suppose it must have been removed, probably for good reasons—so I do not want to unfairly criticize this app for not having a feature that it nowhere claims to have. However I installed the app specifically for a watch tap when I snore. The rest of this complex and lovely app may be excellent but not what I was looking for. I find no communication anywhere including these reviews tell me it is no longer available. I spent a lot of time exploring and experimenting, and even upped for premium thinking that might be it. I would like to suggest to the developers that a clear support doc to explain that it has been removed, would save users like me some frustration. I would be happily embarrassed to learn that I’m all wrong and I just didn’t open the right settings page, but like I said, I’ve wasted a lot of time looking.

AMAZING - but please read this developers!!. This app is really great and gives an amazing amount of information regarding sleep patterns and sleep trends. I was loving the free version but I wanted to see what the premium version was like ESPECIALLY because they had sleep sounds to help you drift off to sleep. I had been using the Oak app to listen to relaxing sounds before bed but other apps that play music can’t be used while SleepCycle is on (because of microphone). I went ahead and upgraded to the premium (on trial basis). Was MAJORLY disappointed in the sleep sounds. Everything about this app is well thought out and highly efficient, nice to look at, and easy to understand - why make the sounds so “cheap”?!? Please, developers, PLEASE make better sleep music. Check out the Oak app and their Relaxing Sounds if you need an example (Clarity, elevate, and fireplace are some of my favorites). I’m going to keep the premium version and hope you see this and make the improvements to sleep sounds - then you will truly have the perfect sleep app!

Great until very recently. In the last couple of months, something seems to have happened in the app. I’ve had multiple occasions where the alarm didn’t just not go off, the app didn’t even save the data from that night. (And yes, I had the app on and functioning when I went to bed. I’ve been using this app for 5+ years, this isn’t a ‘me’ issue. I didn’t turn it off in the middle of the night, either.) I contacted the developer, told them that I had just done all the latest updates to my phone and the app that had just come out, and that this was happening. The person who replied asked me if I had updated... to a version older than the newest version. 😑 I just told them that I was fully up to date. Determining that I wasn’t about to get a fast resolution but would be forced to go over days of these types of useless emails, I gave up on that. I’ve now had it happen on three occasions when I had something important scheduled in the morning. I’m lucky that I woke up on my own with just enough time to not miss the events. I’m going to have to find a new app. This one has done something that is now causing it to be unreliable.

Easy to use, great app but not the most accurate. Bottom line this app deserves a 5 star rating. It has an aesthetically pleasing layout, that’s accessible and full of useful information. The app has sleep sounds, notes before bed, reactions upon waking up. The single biggest thing I noted is THIS APP CARES. The owners seem to really care about its users, they offer a sleep study where you can sign up and they send you daily sleep research, tips for falling asleep, habit change and much more. I will say with all that said. It just isn’t the most accurate way to track your sleep. The microphone monitoring is what it is, it will think I’m asleep when I’ve been up for 2+ coughing and tossing and turning. It almost always gives me a better rating than I had that night. And to be honest, I don’t even think the cycles of sleep graph on the main page is remotely accurate. Again though I really enjoy this app, it is the best on IOS BY FAR. If you really want the most accurate sleep measure I’ve been looking into whoop wrist bands..

Good app, bad math. I really like the alarm on this app and I think it really works. But I’ve run into a few issues that are really frustrating. First, the app sometimes just stops in the middle of the night and says I only slept for an hour or something when I wake up. This mostly matters because not only did I pay for the premium subscription so I could really track my sleep, my alarm doesn’t go off. Second, I don’t understand how the app tracks “time asleep”. Every night it says I was asleep for an hour and a half-two hours less than I was in bed, but in the graph it shows me sleeping for most of the time I was actually in bed. I get that sometimes you can wake up and not know it, but I think I would remember being awake for an extra 2 hours. Again, it wouldn’t matter, but it affects all the sleep data I paid premium to get. And the graph shows me sleeping for all the time I remember sleeping anyway, so I just don’t understand and I wish the developers would fix these bugs so I could really enjoy the app and recommend it confidently. As of now I tell my friends that it’s not worth their money.

Too many inconsistencies. This is an edited review. The longer I have used Sleep Cycle, the more I question the validity of the so-called analyses of the free product. If I go to bed at 02:00, apparently fall asleep almost instantly, and sleep apparently without any waking incidents until the cat pats me awake at 07:09, there would appear to be an inconsistency when Sleep Cycle reports an 18-minute delay between going to bed and falling asleep, with an additional 35-minute loss of sleep that is not verified by the graph, which shows no wakeful high plateaus - not at the beginning, and not at any other period of the night, including the approach of morning awakening. In addition to these repeated inconsistencies - if I, a math-challenged English major, can see the math errors committed by this app, then there are programming issues. Computers, after all, do exactly what they’re told to do - there is the snoring issue. I won’t claim the cat did it. And since I do snore when not using the CPAP machine, I also listen to the sample recordings. They most often do not replay snoring, which has a distinctive pattern. Sleep Cycle records air hiss from the CPAP and calls it snoring. Remarkable. I am actively looking for a more accurate and effective sleep tracking app.

UPDATE: BUGGY, but Great way to wake up and fall asleep. UPDATE: at least once a week the app stops tracking after i start it, and fails to alarm at wakeup time. If this is fixed, I’ll happily revise my review. If i can’t use the app reliably, then i can’t use it at all! For years I've used fans, music, and even tv static for white noise to sleep. The sleep timed background noises are glorious. I love tracking my sleep data, and the snore tracker even adds another piece of data to analyze in pursuit of the perfect nights sleep. I recently built a new bed and purchased a new mattress, and the app even shows a trending improvement in the quantifiable data, so there's more than just a perceived improvement in my sleep quality. The times wake-up phase is also more gentle than a screeching alarm clock or waking to blaring music. I usually set a back-up alarm just in case I sleep too heavily, or I accidentally use the tap-to-snooze function too many times :)

AMAZING APP but where’s Apple Watch support?. I absolutely love this App and have been using it four years and even upgraded to the pro version I loved it so much. The graphs and trends in your sleep is really mind boggling and the notes addition help me adjust things I do during the day for a better nights sleep! A great day starts with a good night sleep and with the smart alarm feature it gently wakes you up instead of traditional alarms that wake you up feeling upset at life and that sound can make you irritable the first thing in the morning making your whole day feel like a drag. The only thing this app is missing is Apple Watch support almost everyone has one nowadays and bringing these amazing app features to your watch could make it AMAZING. That same cutting edge programming right on the wrist with maybe the option for the watch to monitor you heart rate over night that would be totally awesome! But until then I would definitely recommend anyone who loves a good nights sleep

Was good until it made you subscribe and you had no option. I had this app for a couple months and it worked great I loved how it work and the alarms were nice to wake up to but for some reason after a couple months the app started to lag and the screen would just be frozen. So I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and when I had to go to the page with the subscription it had no exit button and you either had to subscribe for a year or a free trial for a week. Now I know myself and I would definitely forget to cancel the free trial so I would get charged so I tried to find the exit button to just get the free version again but it didn’t have one and I was just disappointed. It is a great app with the free version only thing was that you could listen to your sleep like when it caught you sleep talking or snoring you couldn’t listen to it but I understood that’s how they wanted you to get the subscription. Other than that great app just wish they would allow me to get the free version without the free trial of the subscription.

Want to see more in depth data. The app is called Sleep Cycle, but the only data about my sleep cycle is a graph I can kind of read. Would be super helpful to break up the graphs into sections, or have some kind of lines underneath telling you what’s going on while you sleep: how long each cycle was, how many cycles you had, and insights (after a few days) into how changing your bedtime or wake time could fit your sleep ‘cycles’ more fully. We have a puppy and aligning when ‘nature calls’ and when I’m at my best to wake up and fall right back asleep has been difficult. I think that the addition of these insights could help people schedule their bedtimes and wake times to be better suited for them. Other than that, this app is great! Have been a faithful user since 2015, and am still loving it. Keep up the good work! And for everyone that doesn’t pay for premium: come on, it’s $2 a year...wayy worth it

It’s missing an important feature…. We know the app isn’t perfect, it’s not always able to detect awakenings, etc. It does (for the most part) track fairly accurately but it is lacking TWO key features. The app does not allow one to go back and EDIT the start and stop times or ADD data. Frequently, I will fall asleep without activating the app and it doesn’t detect that. When I wake up in the middle of night and realize it, I will go in and turn it on however since it MISSED logging the first 4 hours of sleeping the tracking data is completely inaccurate. Just the simplest of act of being able to tell the app it missed time I was asleep or tell it I was awake and out of bed (when it thought I was sleeping) would go a long way to making it practically perfect. The second item is that If I wake up and I’m in a hurry and I do not put my finger on that stop button and drag it up (ie: if I simply close the app by dragging it from the bottom of the iphone, rather than from the “stop”,) it just doesn’t collect/record/retain the data from the entire night. I also STILL cannot get my own alarm tone into the app and that’s kind of annoying. I do love that it will track my heart rate through the night if I’m wearing my watch and that it records sounds …because I’ve discovered I don’t so much snore (which it defaults to) as have Catathenia (although there isn’t a way to add that to the list so I have to go in and adjust those records/instances as “other” or “sleep talking”).

The Best Sleep App. I’ve been using this app since 2017. It’s the best. I have tried all of the other sleep apps out of curiosity but I alway come back to Sleep Cycle. I like that I don’t need to put in under my pillow. I love the alarm. The charts help me make adjustments to my habits. I have sleep apnea so I use a CPAP. It can still register snoring with my machine in high gear. I use the data to let my doctor know if I need to make adjustments to my settings. All of this info isn’t free. I have to put the work in to get the lessons out. I have to select the list of what happened that day so it can do the math. I have to enter notes in the morning for it to reflect info. However with my input and the sleep data it provides awesome insight. If I wake up in the middle of the night it knows I’m stirring but it doesn’t know I got up. I’m not sure how it would ever know that. So I have to turn it off but logically that makes sense to me. All in all it’s the best and I totally think it’s worth $40 a year. Also I’m a big fan of Lifecycle.

Great but issues lately. I’ve been using this for years and it’s been solid…except lately for a couple of reasons. The biggest problem is that for a couple of days in a row, the alarm hasn’t gone off. I get a notification on my phone when I look at it saying “good morning” at the right time but it makes no sound. This caused me to miss a meeting this morning and has happened 3 times this week alone. I have it set correctly with the sound turned up but it doesn’t even try. An alarm clock that doesn’t alarm isn’t much use. The other issue was a while ago while using the mic instead of accelerometer. I don’t think it was sleep cycle but rather the system they were using(from Facebook) but it was listening in on me and using it for ads. One morning I hummed the Folgers jingle when I woke up and later that night I saw an ad from them in the first time in nearly a decade. I then did some testing with my various devices and it was sleep cycle that was doing it. While I mostly hold this against Facebook, sleep cycle is using their system so…

Crashes. I’ve had this one for a while now and enjoyed it up until a year ago. The first problem was choosing a song to wake me. I had chosen one song and never went back in to change it because it helped me wake up. The app all of sudden started to choose random songs on random days instead. And no, the selection was never set on random song. It just decided to do that ok its own. Finally, I’ve had random days where I try to wake up for a workout only to miss it. I always see a notification that my alarm went off. However this morning I did the research and don’t see any analysis. Which means I set it and the app crashed in the middle of the night, never went off, never analyzed sleep, and yet still gave me a notification in my Notification Center that it went off. I see a developer response to fully charge my phone before bed and use the app unplugged. I’ll be honest, I won’t be trying that because I don’t want my phone to die before morning and the app fail because of that too. And even if it did make it, now I have a barely charged phone in the morning. Just not worth the hassle. I bought this app from the beginning. Back when it was a simple 0.99 app that worked. All the changes and subscription stuff is when everything started to malfunction.

Solid app but the new update..... This app is usually a 5/5 star review from me but the new updated format of it is just crazy slow. I try to switch tabs or load something on it and it just shows me a loading bar forever. Admittedly, the last version would crash pretty frequently but at least I could restart the app then and it’s start working, but I haven’t figured out a cure to the perpetual loading now. Also, the last update seemingly used to weed out notifications so only calls would go through and wake me up, now (as I’m a very light sleeper) I keep waking up bc of every single Instagram or twitter notification I get. It’s only annoying since it never used to be a problem and it’s not like DND is gonna work since the phone is technically on and open all night... Don’t get me wrong, the functionality of the app is great and still does what it needs to do, and the new update looks much sleeker and nicer! It’s just those two small decreases in quality that reduce my rating.

Another update needed. I know this was just updated the other day, but it needs another update. Lately the app has been crashing during the night. When this happens, there’s no data. I had hoped that the last update would have fixed this, but it didn’t. Also, it would be nice if the alarm volume & sleep aid volume could be set separately. 1 last thing. The audio of the sleep aids should be rebalanced. The range of the levels vary too much. It needs to be evened out. The volume shouldn’t go from so low to so high. This is another reason why it would be nice to be able to set the alarm & sleep aid volumes separately. I end up setting the volume low because the sleep aid gets too loud, but that makes the alarm volume too low. Oh, I forgot another thing. Sometimes it shows that I was awake, when the audio has recorded me snoring. I obviously wasn’t awake if I was snoring. So, there are some issues that absolutely need to be fixed & some that would simply make the app more useful. I would love to rate the app again & give it more stars. Hopefully, there will be another update soon.

STAY AWAY! THESE DEVELOPERS HATE THEIR CUSTOMERS!!! L. I was an early adopter of this app. Feb 16th, 2010 was when I purchased my lifetime membership. 13 years of using this app to track my sleep. When this app was nothing, I purchased the membership and helped fund it to be what it is today. Now, I have been phased out. If I want to use any of the current functions, or even functions that I used to once have access to, I have to pay more money and sign up for their subscription based model. This company has no value for it’s loyal early adopters. It has no appreciation for those of us that took a chance, paid money, and gave this app a shot over a decade ago. What an absolute slap in the face. I am happy I was there to help fund this apps growth, just so that I could eventually be phased out and forced to spend more money. Today’s necessity of requiring monthly subscriptions to everything is ridiculous. I am 100% about investing in a lifetime subscription in young product that I like and want to see succeed. What I don’t expect is to be made obsolete and told I need to pay more money now that the app has made it and doesn’t have an ounce of appreciation for the risk I took 13+ years ago to support it. What an embarrassment.

Good concept, poor functionality. I wanted to love this app both for myself and my patients as a psychiatrist with a lot of patients with sleep problems. I was really excited reading about it online and hoping to use it to track my sleep to use with a CBTi program that requires knowing how long it takes to fall asleep and how much time one spends awake in the middle of the night but also avoiding looking at the clock. In theory this app would be perfect for that. The first couple of nights seemed to do just what I hoped. But after that I realized it wasn’t registering about half the times when I actually woke up and got out of bed. I tried taking the phone with me as suggested in the app help and it still didn’t register these wakeful episodes half the time. I also use meditative breathing techniques while trying to fall asleep and it seems to register that as sleep because there have been nights where I know it took longer to fall asleep than the app shows. Too bad. For myself I’ll probably invest in one of the ring-based sleep trackers but that will be more expensive than what most of my patients can afford so I’ll still be on the lookout for a reliable affordable sleep tracker.

Miss my sleep aid sound. My husband and I have used this app for years. We even became premium users b/c we liked all the information it gave us. Then when the sleep aids came along, I throughly enjoyed one particular one and even trained my brain to set itself up for sleep when I listened to it laying in bed. Now that one particular sleep aid is gone. It was around for a long time now that u change them every week those of us that use a particular one feel cheated b/c u give us something like that one week then take it away the next. I would like the idea of giving the premium folks the option to DOWNLOAD their favorite sleep aids to their profile and have them there forever. Don’t take them away. Then the people who don’t pay, give them a demo of the sleep aids and when they find ones they like ask for a tiny dollar amount for them. This rating is 3/5 b/c my husband and I are long time users and a big fan of the information however u will not get the next star or even the next two til this becomes and option. I can no longer use that particular sleep aid to fall asleep now and I am very frustrated with that.

Best. I’ve been using this app for years now - 8 maybe? I started because I was interested in the gentle wake ups - I’d been struggling to get out of bed in the mornings, and my aggressive alarms woke me up but left me feeling agitated. The more gentle wake up has done wonders for my life. I eventually bought Phillips hue lights so the app can wake me up by slowly turning on the lights too. This is especially helpful for me in the winter, when waking up in pitch black night feels impossible. I love having historical data of how things have impacted my sleep. The app tracks location, weather, day of week, etc, and compares it to your sleep quality. I LOVE that you can use your own sleep tags to track data. For example, I track alcohol, my meds, the amount of sunlight, the amount/type of exercise, etc, to see how choices I make thru the day also impact my sleep. I’ve recommended this app to so many people and will continue to do so.

It works. Hard to say how accurate it is given I’m asleep, but it seems legit. Another sleep app decided I was up for the day when I was up with my baby. I like that this app uses the alarm as a means of you confirming that you’re up for the day. This has obviously peaks when I’m up with baby, Little half asleep squiggles when I dozed off in the rocking chair with the baby and nice deep lows between. I’m not sure how the sleep quality grade is calculated though—I got a higher grade recently for a night I was up more often with the baby than the day before where I almost got to sleep through the night. Anyway, it seems to work as promised without bugs, but I think the price for full service is too high. I would pay for complete reporting and the integration with their life cycle app, but not as much as they’re asking. Simply reviewing the free data and making my own assessment is good enough and not too difficult so I just don’t see paying $30 for a subscription. I appreciate that developers aren’t writing apps for free, but they’d have more subscribers at a lower price point.

Can’t access audio of myself. This app shoves statistics in your face, but you can’t access it without premium. I am giving 1 star because I do not like how it records the sounds while I am sleeping and won’t allow me to listen to them. I want to know what is going on in the middle of the night, is it really me, or is it my cat? I have used this app when it was free and I know that the label of the sounds is not accurate. Sometimes it will even say movement, talking? (?) well which one!?? I would be very intrigued and chismes to learn that I talk in my sleep, my goodness. If it doesn’t even know what was recorded we should be able to listen to it to see if we are talking, coughing, moving, or have a cat purring. If the app cannot tell us then who will? Back when you could listen to the audio recordings for free, it would often mislabel the sounds at night, mistaking my purring cat for different things, as I mentioned. As desperately as I want to know, I cannot afford 40$ just to listen to an audio clip of myself sleeping. And honestly, that’s a bit creepy to me. I have sent many feedback notes, but they are confident that the audio of my cat purring is worth 40$. Pretty pathetic really.

Premium version not worth $.99. Firstly, it doesn’t record your quality of sleep, only your quantity. Some people work well on 6 hours of sleep and wake alert and refreshed. This app will then tell them that they are only getting 75% quality of sleep. Another person could sleep 10.5 hours and wake up groggy and lethargic (because that’s too much sleep), and they will get a quality score of 100%. Quantity and Quality are not interchangeable. Also, if you’re reading in bed it thinks your sleeping so the quantity isn’t exactly accurate either. Secondly, the app categorizes every car that passes by ones house as “snoring.” I paid for the app because I was surprised to find that I snored, but then I found out that I paid $30 to listen to recordings of cars. I still have yet to find a recording of actual snoring. Lovely that there is a label for “baby fussing”, but not one for “cars”. The app wasn’t made for child free city folk, I guess. So, if you’re thinking of paying the hefty price to listen to the recordings and you live anywhere with sound outside your house, save yourself some money and frustration and just don’t. The free app is fine, the premium version is simply not worth even $.99...

So close to being really good.. I’m not sure how the on-board mics on the phone catch everything, but based off of the discrepancies between this app and the others that do use my apple watch as part of their metric gathering choices, I’d like to know why this developer chose to forgo that option. This segways into my main complaint. When perhaps all of your sensor data aren’t able to detect their surrounding, they (the sensors) aren’t able to perform as good a job that the wood have otherwise been able to. For example, detect when a user took a nap or was just lying down. Both of these options are very doable via other apps on the market, sadly without all of you bells and whistles. My point is, you guys are so close to making a dominating app in this field. I don’t believe anyone has beaten you yet, but if you don’t act soon by doing what you competitors are doing and adding in an automatic sleep detection function, it may only be a matter of time till you take that final long snooze.

Have used for YEARS. I personally love this app and recommend it to anyone. Especially someone that hates being jolted awake with loud tones or wants to be woken up when they’re the most “awake”. Overall, a great app for tracking how good your sleep is BUT I am disappointed in a new feature I noticed. I went to go to sleep tonight and went to play my podcasts that help me sleep (I listen to two specific podcasts on the apple podcast app) however, when I played the podcast with a sleep timer set, the sleep cycle app kept turning the podcast off because “it couldn’t access the microphone.” I would prefer if this feature only gave the warning while still allowing the sound to play until it inevitably turns off. This would allow for me to fall asleep to what I’m used to while also tracking my sleep after my podcast cuts off. I hope you take this into consideration because otherwise I may have to go back to loud apple alarm tones just so I can fall asleep the night before 😞

Wireless Charging/Sunrise Feature. When I first received my iPhone X the first thing I did was go out and buy a Qi wireless charger. This unfortunately meant that I could not turn my iPhone upside down and use sleep cycle :( . I wrote a review back a few weeks ago asking if you would implement something (and got a response back from the dev saying that you are working on a setting to turn the screen off). This morning I had a great idea for when you make this happen...if the screen is already facing up and is just turned to black while sleep cycle is recording, why not implement some kind of sunrise waking (sort of like the hue lights) where the screen turns from black to an Orange/yellow color over the course of 15min before the alarm goes off. This way it will start to light the room and mimic a sunrise! TL;DR When working on a fix for wireless charging, also take advantage of the screen facing up by incorporating a sunrise feature to wake up with light.

Bring back notification blocking, please!. Like virtually everybody in the world who is not some kind of robot, if I try to schedule do not disturb in advance, that will mean that sometimes it goes on before I go to bed, causing me to miss important messages, and on other days it won’t go on until after I go to bed, causing me to get woken up by alerts. I can set it manually, but if I forget, then I will not sleep through the night. And this was never a problem before I got the app, but now I have to keep my phone next to my pillow for the app to work, so even on silent my phone buzzes right in my ear. So now my choice is either to have this app that is supposed to help me sleep waking me up most nights instead, or to have this new “feature” that’s supposed to prevent me from missing critical messages causing me to miss messages sometimes (and still wake me up sometimes). This is not a matter of users transitioning into a new GUI. The problem is that the app no longer helps people sleep, and now it helps wake people up in the middle of the night instead. No amount of “getting used to it” is going to change that. The solution is obvious! Make this feature optional, set by the user. People who like this “improvement” can keep it, and people who prefer a sleep app that doesn’t wake them up all night can choose to have the app block notifications by default. Please implement that feature so I can give this app the five stars it otherwise deserves.

My thoughts after 5 years of use. I’ve been using this app for about 5 years, primarily because I’ve always had trouble sleeping. It’s very accurate, records you sleep talking which reminds me of the film 1984… It accurately records your snoring, and movement as well. I use it every day and use it as an alarm. The only problem that has not been addressed or corrected after these years is the falling asleep time. This feature is without a doubt 100% wrong. I can lay quiet on my bed and the app will think that I fell asleep in 5 minutes -___- not to mention I will toss and turn to try to fall asleep, and the app will not disqualify this as having fallen asleep in 5 minutes, and therefore messes up a lot of the overall statistics because of this mayor flaw. Other than it pretty accurate and helpful. I plan on using it until for a while, unless I find out they’re sending these files to the FBI or big brother, then I’m out.

Amazing App! + Suggestions. App works clearly as advertised and the free trial really sold me it proved to me it worked without me having to pay a cent. Suggestions: - for the sleep notes add classes such as medicine or activities and add variables for the time / dosage to add that to the trackers for example instead of exercised put exercised with a spot for minutes / hours and see how that impacts or a spot for the time you drank coffee like coffee drank at 8am increased sleep quality whereas coffee at 10pm decreased sleep quality( extreme example), this would be applicable to me because i take adderall and i am trying to find the latest point in the day i can take with it impacting my sleep so currently i have 2 nodes one for adderall taken before 1pm and one for after and so i’m just manually doing the feature i suggested obviously it would be more fluid if it was a calculated average done by a computer but it’s just a concept, i can also see how this feature could come off as intimidating to new or less tech savy users so another suggestion could be adding a setting to enable “advanced sleep notes” which would allow for more specification rather than just a yes or no node. Regardless, this app is amazing and i commend you on your beautiful creation i see myself using it for years to come and hopefully you read this review and maybe implement those features in the future :).

Space for improvement. I found the app accurate for tracking when do i go to sleep and wake up, I use my watch to track my sleep. Yesterday I’ve set the app to track my sleep on the watch, then on my phone I tried a few sleep aids, but then decided to turn off the sleep aid as I was paying attention instead of drifting off. There must be some bug in the app, because in the morning I woke up on my own and the watch’s sleep tracking was not on. Why can’t the app start tracking on its own when I go to sleep? Once it sees that you’re not moving and heart rate drops and it’s quite around it means you’re sleeping… then you can backtrack when were the last steps recorded and voila, you know when did I go to sleep. It shouldn’t be a necessity to set up the alarm, in fact I slept long enough only once for the alarm to go off. If I need a smart alarm I can get an app for free, this is supposed to be a sleep tracker. Also, I take power-naps during the day, why can’t those be tracked on a separate tab?

Great app, but with a crashing issue. I’ve been using Sleep Cycle for quite awhile—1,823 nights. Bought it way back when but have not purchased premium mostly due to that I don’t feel as thought I’m missing out on the premium weekly summary features. Having the cloud backup would certainly be helpful… although I export my data as a csv file every six months or so. My favorite feature is the 30 minutes alarm function slowly waking me up out of a deep sleep so I’m not jolted awake. My main reason for 4 stars is because the app has been crashing during the night from time to time, usually between 1-3am. This causes my backup alarm (my old iPhone across the room) to wake me up. This starts my day off on a grumpy, frustrated note. It’s been happening a bit more frequently lately and I don’t know why. Around once per month. I have an iPhone 12 and it’s up to date. Hoping it gets figured out and I appreciate the thoughtful reviews and customer responses from Sleep Cycle that I’ve read.

Really Great at Tracking - Wish it gave better insights on how to improve. I have really enjoyed using the app. The statistics and data points are all really interesting and helpful. It has made me pay attention to what time and when I wake up. I have also developed a better sleep routine/cycle because of it. The alarm which sounds based on your sleep cycles is also super helpful. The alarm is not too blaring and gradually picks up, meaning that you are not waking up like the world is ending. I have been able to wake up much easier because of it. The only reason I give it four stars is because of the lack of insights on how to improve your sleep. For example, this week my sleep efficiency was down, but the app gave me no tips or exercises to improve my efficiency. The app also does not really specify how the sleep efficiency number works, and sometimes I feel that it is a little off or random. I basically just wish that the app gave more insights into what disturbs your sleep and how to improve sleep efficiency and time asleep.

No customer service. Why is it that your page can tell me I need a new password without giving me the ability to say I don't know my password? iPhone made a super smart password for meBecause your app told me my password had been seen in an information breach. The link on that page where I was supposed to be able to go change my password is broken. Why are you sending my emails to somewhere other than the email I used to sign up for this account? The app works fine when it's working. However I made the mistake of upgrading my phone, so of course your app doesn't work anymore until I login again, so of course you don't like my password even though I wrote it down last time. Of course I have canceled my subscription and I'm going to try something else when this is over. I hate all this password crap. Everybody needs a unique password and then you people let it slip out of your hands and it goes out into an information breach and now I've got literally 37 passwords that have been compromised. What am I supposed to do about that many passwords when it takes an hour and a half to get through even one of them?
