Great gay social networking app!. I love your app and have been using it since the first day you launched your product. It has great features and I have made a lot friends using it. Mostly hook ups but some of them turned into long life friends! Your recent update made your app less desirable to use. Limiting only to 9 profile on the grid instead of maybe were 30 profiles or so. Also limiting the view me features as in undiscoverable, or can’t find your location when I am found, and also the favorites cannot be viewed now. Which makes it useless if I add more favorite profiles to my free account. Use red who have been using this app since the beginning what made your app successful, and now we are rejects… very limited. Also you make it impossible to subscribe, it’s very expensive. When I subscribed for a year I thought I was getting all those great features you advertise, but when paying I got limited features and not full features unless I pay double the price for your subscription. It’s very disappointing.

Does job but here’s how it can be better. The app gets the job done, although there are some modifications to make it better. Providing users more filter controls to find their person of interest would be more helpful. Giving users the accessibility to find their ideal partner based on position, ethnicity, distance, height and weight helps users devote more time to interacting with their ideal person, as opposed to blocking users for being outside these margins. Also, showing users that are local as opposed to longer distance can draw more users to engage with the app and fulfill the pursuit of finding their person of interest. Alas, the filter setting should converge with other corresponding users. For instance, if a user is looking for someone within a set age range, then anyone outside of that age range should not be able to see that user from their account, unless they are within the age range. If these modifications were made on the non-premium version of Grindr, more users (especially of the younger audience) would be inclined to used Grindr.

Give us new features. The app use to be better they took away some features . We use to be able to select the exact age we were looking for . But now there’s like a 4 year gap in between ages for example I can’t just be looking for 25 year old to make my search easier I can only do 25-29 , and there’s also no race filter feature and no it’s not racist to be looking for a specific race , that’s just someone’s preference , but there’s a weight filter, height filter, body type filter , lowkey the unnecessary filters I feel like race is someone biggest preference more then someone’s height lol. I can’t even have multiple albums anymore Atleast not for free ..one for my 🍆 pics and one for my 🍑 pics and one for my face pics they use to have this option free . The app literally downgraded it self by taking away some features and making you pay for some and the fact that bottoms can show their whole nude 🍑 on their profile pics but tops can’t even use photos of their print in their shorts is very bias . Please do better lol .

To be honest. App works well to network. Except glitches can really kill an opportunity. Lost messages sometimes make the other person believe you are not interested- and vice versa. When a regular text comes in on iPhone- the app gets weird. I decline the text- but the app goes offline- and photos and msgs I have sent prior to message notification are lost. Sometimes when I block soneone/ the app gets frozen- I have to turn iPhone off to restart after a long wait- usually 5 minutes. If guys are going to rely on this app- it needs to work correctly. Pics and messages need to be sent and received. Otherwise- someone may become offended that you have not responded to their message- and block you. When I send error reports- when I get a notification- what happens? Do you use this ? Or is it a waste of my time.? Until grinder gets kinks worked out- guys will use several apps at once- and not trust this app. Also- location goes haywire on occasion. Someone who it says is close by- can be in reality be a thousand miles away. I use the app a lot. And wish you had customer service reps available when problems arise. Jg Un

This version is giving a more neg experience. Grindr updated but left out all those who don’t have iOS 13! Switched to A4A and realized how much better that app is!!! This app seems more and more cumbersome to use. With the company’s goal to get clients to upgrade to a higher paying tier, it becomes more tedious to process through searches as the program sends you into the profiles you could view but need to upgrade to view them. This continues to create negative experiences and unending frustration. Also it’s obvious that when you do upgrade that the profile aren’t the same ones you will view after upgrading which is disappointing. And finally it looks like the profiles you are interested in and of people who are frequenting the app less and less?! Disappointing is not descriptive enough! I am actually logging on less and less!

Great app but could use improvements. The app functions well. It definitely doesn’t have as many bugs and crashes as it once used to. They have implemented changes to filters which is nice, but I also do have some suggestions I’d like to see included in the app. I do like how no one can screenshot the albums in your photo, but I think this should just be a general inclusivity for any photo that is sent out. That way we can prevent catfish from creating fake profiles. I would also like to see the race category put back into place. I personally don’t think there’s anything wrong with having a stronger preference towards a certain demographic. I understand that they are trying to be inclusive but people are attracted to what they are attracted to. Just let it be. I’m Hispanic and I’ve met plenty of people who say they aren’t interested in Latinos. They say we have to much of an attitude. It’s a generalization, but I’m okay with it because that person is clearly not meant for me, and I don’t want them apart of my life. I say allow people to select what they like and allow others to judge them for their character. After all, we are all just trying to find the perfect match.

Are the Xtra and Unlimited worth the monthly costs?. The cost of Xtra and Unlimited use to be fairly reasonable. It has noticeably increased and some may say has even increased significantly. The options to choose from were one week, one month, six months or one year for subscriptions to the Xtra and Unlimited add on options. Additionally and without additional charges or needing purchasing add ons, I was able to see at least the profile pic and view the profiles of those who viewed my profile. Seeing that isn’t allowed unless an add on is purchased. This takes some of the nostalgia and fun out of the app for those of us that may not use it on a consistent basis. Please help me understand the benefits of the Xtra and Unlimited options beyond the displayed descriptors describing them and the associated costs of those add on options that make it worthy of the monthly cost of which a six month membership subscription use to cost. I’d appreciate an explanation easy to understand because as of now, it makes no sense, I don’t see any significant improvements except for the costs for Xtra and Unlimited rising significantly.

App was good until this recent update. The app was pretty good before the new changes to the XTRA and Unlimited subscriptions. The major reason why I purchased XTRA was so I can find people of interest who fit my filter searches and be able to look for people a little more outside my area. Now it seems that I am unable to communicate with people of interests if they exceeds the radius I am searching for (either that or the number of profiles XTRA members can view and interact with). It seems silly that this feature was removed from a mid-tier subscription and bumped to a more expensive subscription. I was perfectly content with purchasing XTRA for the price point with that feature but now it seems that we are paying the same amount while losing features. Unfortunately, since this was the primary reason why I purchased XTRA in the first place, I may have to drop this subscription and look for alternative apps.

Too many Catfish. Grindr is great for meeting new people and making friends with queer people in your proximity, but it’s also an excellent environment for people to catfish each other. Nothing is more frustrating than thinking you’re having a conversation with someone only for them to suspiciously ask for your number or email, or “WhatsApp” so they can scam you too. These people are very quick to block you if you show any sign of suspicion, so I’ve learned to gather enough information, and report them before confronting them. These kinds of people make me feel disgusting for engaging with them. I now must reverse image every new person just to trust who I’m talking to. This is a bad sign in my opinion. I want to have normal conversations with real people - not scammers, and not people looking for lewd photos for a quick “fix”. I have reported a dozen catfish in the last two months, and I have complained directly to grindr in my reports about this. I want Grindr to be aware of this problem, because it’s a counterproductive and toxic to a healthy queer community. Thank you for reading this.

7/1/23 - The only app without blocking. The irony of the endless updates is found in the fact that with each, comes new bugs to supplement the bugs they’ve NEVER fixed (of course the ones that make all the difference in the experience). You’ll notice the canned update notice has never changed. The inability of ANY “block” to actually apply when you use it remains the largest issue, the strange limited and never updated “tags” that ignore reality & slant in a very single-minded & one-sided perspective (ie, non-smokers can look for non-smokers; but smokers cannot search for other smokers, T4T is the only T option. Meeting places assumes nobody has ever met at a cruising or other spot & worst of all, the ENDLESS hookers & other “Professionals” surfing for paying customers). Paying for membership doesn’t improve anything. Finally, Grindr should understand and face that 420 is LEGAL almost everywhere and METH isn’t & “lost chats” on 25% of profiles is as uninspiring as the “Hey”, “What’s up?”, “Are you looking?” that inevitably begins 90% of all DM’s in this cultural wasteland of Twitter, Snapchat & Onlyfans “influencers?”, “Tina” profiles, pic collectors, people selling something or expecting donations, flakes & fakes. But other than measuring distances by “as the bird flies” and even then getting it wrong by up to 50 miles, the rest of it is okay.

Solid to Garbage. This app has turned to absolute garbage over the past few months, supposedly from architectural and design changes implemented post-IPO to save costs. The batch load feature to reload profiles as your location changes encounters an error 80% of the time or more, the location doesn’t even update half the time when I first open the app, the “who’s turn is it” messaging component has turned to always looking like I’ve sent messages rather than the normal messaging function it had before, the chats don’t automatically update, the loading features don’t bring up the entire profiles correctly when you open a preview of individual people, the tap feature malfunctions 20% of the time, the list goes on and on. Most of this has stemmed since February patch updates after I redownloaded it, and I’m truly disappointed with its functionality that my usage has gone from multiple times a day to maybe twice a week out of sheer anger and annoyance. Revert the changes, this is absolutely insulting.

Do not pay for this app. This app is so glitchy even if you pay for it. I am not out and live in a small city. I pay $40 a month for Unlimited so I am able to use the “Incognito” mode and not be seen. Two days ago the app stopped letting me use any of the Unlimited functions so everyone was able to see my profile when I logged on. By the time I deleted my picture it was too late. The grindr developers need to fix this, it is not only unacceptable but it’s dangerous. Grindr is outing people with these glitches. The developers need to ensure that this doesn’t happen. It’s unacceptable when they’re charging almost $500 a year to use the additional “features”. Another other thing that happens even if you pay is Grindr STILL has pop-ups. $500 a year is not enough. They keep begging you for $8 for a “boost” and your inbox is full is “sponsored” messages. GRINDR IS GREEDY. They don’t care if they out you or if you already pay $500 a year for the app. They only care about your money. No matter how much they charge for it they are still going to have pop ups and want more money for a “boost” or some other gimmick. Absolute garbage. “Ad free” is a scam. *Edit* I stopped paying for the app to see what the free version was like. The answer is… absolutely unusable. Ads every 10 seconds. If you set certain filters you can only see 4 people. Trash. I hope everyone jumps ship to something better. Sniffies from here on out. ✌🏼

What’s going on? It’s gotten so bad.. When I log in, messages don’t refresh unless u force close the app and restart. I get notifications of taps even though I turned off this feature within the app. Sometimes my filters e.g. age, online now, tags etc disappear. I might have one or two available to me but must force close and restart to get them back. Frequently not being notified of new messages despite the thread not being muted. Frequently getting notifications for threads that ARE muted. The ability to search messages is missing. Blocked accounts show up in the cascade minutes after I’ve blocked them. Messages hang in sending status. I can’t delete them. They don’t timeout. And I can’t force them to try again. I have to retype it or send a screenshot. Clicking a notification that brings me into the app will take me to the conversation. But the conversation never updates (seems to hang) and the users status is unclear. I have to leave the message and reenter the message to see the reply and reply myself. And the latest update screwed up the Bitmoji keyboard. I can no longer send Bitmojis in the app because Grindr appears to have disabled the keyboard. And if that isn’t enough, every time I log in now I’m met with a message telling me to turn on my location before forwarding me to my settings…. Where it IS turned on. I go back to the app and that warning is gone. Makes no sense.

On its way out it seems. All good things must end I suppose but Grindr didn’t *have* to end like this. The free version of this app is so limited and full of invasive ads that it is actually difficult to use it and when I have only the free version I use the app much less frequently. Well who cares I’m not paying for it the developers surely assume. Wrong, I ordinarily pay for a unlimited subscription but I am reconsidering that now because it feels like there are just less fresh faces on the app now and discrete dl people who won’t pay for a subscription because it’s so unpleasant to use. It’s just the same old people who pay for a subscription use the app 24/7 and who I’ve already met or I am not interested in. It seems like they know that their business doesn’t profit in the short term from people finding other people they like because then those two customers may not need to use the app anymore or use it less. Sounds profitable but they failed to realize that by doing the wrong thing and steering short term profits in terms of not focusing on customers getting what they want and instead being paying customers month after month, that they would ultimately destroy the who thing when the ripple effect of their greed slowly alienated the occasional or infrequent users. The same users are most sensitive to the poor user experience they thoughtlessly deliver. On top of that it’s hard to know the app is secure they don’t even have two factor authentication.

This App Is Unfair. I appealed my ban over and over again because somebody keeps reporting that I’m swearing when I did nothing at all. I finally got banned again but i justifying myself when someone else started calling me names for no reason just coming out of nowhere and texted me and threatening me so I had to protect myself and push them back from swearing at me constantly. So grinder I don’t know I’m still banned for life when I was trying to protect myself from a hostile user I never met. Even when I blocked them they still kept coming back by making a new account and kept swearing at me what am I supposed to do just stand there and block them again. I honestly apologized for all my bad actions even though I did nothing wrong and people keep accusing me of nudity when alot of people post there whole body or they’re half naked bodies on this app. Grinder please fix this problem and please fix my account from being banned.

Will ban your account and ability to create any other accounts. I’ve given this my utmost effort, and really did not want to give a bad review. The Grindr support team is not very helpful, and has not responded to me in almost a month after a 4-month battle to try and get my accounts back or restore my ability to create a new account and use the app. I was banned in March of 2022 and instantly reached out to support with an appeal, with my main profile being unbanned. However, was told that I needed to submit an appeal to all of the accounts I had, which was one other account through my Apple ID. After submitting a second appeal for my Apple ID account I was required to know the date of creating my account, which was unknown to me since I had not used it in a long time. I was told that there was nothing they could do since I did not know when I made the account and have since not received an email back from my email sent on June 10th, 2022. It is July 4th. This all sprung from a claim that I was underage even though I had sent pictures of my drivers license to prove it, which apparently isn’t enough. I’m still unable to use the app whatsoever or create a new account without an instant ban. I’m not the only person with this issue, and others have had this issue even after purchasing a subscription and completely losing the money. Beware.

ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY. Grindr does not protect its community. They DO NOT uphold their own community guidelines and the photo moderators are a joke. A profile has been reported over ten times for a prominently displayed unobstructed view of an erect penis as its public profile photo. It is clearly pornographic in nature and explicitly banned in the community guidelines. And yet the photo moderators keep letting the user post it. In app reports result in zero action. Emails to the grindr help desk get stock responses claiming the issue has been rectified without addressing the fact they keep letting this happen. They take the photo down then let the user post it up right away. Complaints to grindr go unanswered. What is the point in allowing users to indicate they do not want to receive unsolicited nude photos while simultaneously subjecting them to the same images?!? DO YOUR JOB AND PROTECT THE COMMUNITY. Now cue a stock response from the app developers not actually addressing the complaint…. UPDATE: Developer Response…. Did you even read the complaint? If you will not address the actual complaint why even pretend to respond?

High Cost, Low Value: A Grindr Unlimited Subscriber's Disappointment. As a Grindr Unlimited subscriber for four years, paying nearly $200 annually, my expectations for a premium service have been met with disappointment. Despite its potential for meaningful connections—having been a lifeline in situations ranging from being stranded in Portugal to receiving heartwarming hospitality in Warsaw and invitations to places as far-reaching as Tashkent, Uzbekistan—the app’s handling of premium users leaves much to be desired. My account was banned without clear justification, and the opaque, unresponsive appeal process only adds to the frustration. The contradiction between Grindr’s high subscription cost and the compromised experience it offers—plagued by ads, bugs, and a poor UI—is stark. It’s unsettling that a platform with such significant impact within the LGBTQIA+ community can so readily dismiss the accounts of its paying users. This oversight underscores a glaring disregard for the value and trust we place in the service. Grindr must urgently address these issues to truly honor its role and commitment to its community.

My account got banned for no reason and Grindr support is nonexistent. I went to a guys place 15 miles away and when I got there he had told me to “kms”, then proceeded to block me. I was obviously shocked so I decided to warn other by putting his user in my about me and warning others about him. The next day I had found out I had been blocked, I was confused and looked it up. There’s apparently no other way to get your account back unless you file an appeal, so I did. The Grindr support that reviewed my case didn’t care and told me the decision was final. So I just gave up on that account and tried to create a new account but as soon as I was down creating the account, it would say the account was banned. I’ve tried deleting the app, restarting my phone, trying different ways to create a new account, you name it I’ve tried it. All to no avail. I proceeded to reach out to Grindr support team once again but they again told me they couldn’t do anything and pretty much dismissed my problem. I had been getting tired of the app for a while but that just did it for me. What got me was how unhelpful the “support” team was, and how they literally didn’t care about what I had to say or anything. This was two weeks ago and I have not found a solution to my problem and a member of the support team even told me they will not respond to any of my further emails.

Much Improved. I really like the tags feature because it helps solve a problem I had complained about in a previous review- the 255 character limit on profile descriptions is too short. I still think that is a problem, but at least now I don’t have to waste precious space trying to cram in as much as possible about my interests in such a short description. If ever Grindr makes longer profile descriptions available, then I’ll give the app a well-deserved 5 stars. Another potential improvement I’d like to suggest is making profiles clickable after running a search. Currently, a long-press only opens a small menu with 3 options (chat, tap, and favorite), but this is an altogether different user experience than elsewhere in the app. I often find myself favoriting profiles just so I can find them in a view that allows me to see the whole profile. That really needs fixing. Beyond that, I do wish there were some extra perks that come with Grindr Unlimited. Boost is a great feature, but it’s also pretty expensive. It would be nice if at least one boost per month came with the subscription.

Please fix your quality control, Grindr devs. The following is not a helpdesk/end-user problem; it is a long-running QC issue that should not have the buck passed on to us consumers to solve. Pros: The only thing this app has going for it in terms of positive user experience is that there are so many people using it. 1 star for the ubiquity. Cons: Unfortunately, for me, with my iPhone 12, my phone constantly freezes any time I download and use this app. Further, my phone gets extremely hot to the touch, and my battery drains so drastically that I have to charge it any time I’m using this app. These behaviors occur only when I have Grindr running. If I kill the app, my phone is fine. When I delete the app, my phone is fine. I’ve yet to do an iOS restore as a last-stitch effort, but in this nearly Web 3 era and decades of smart phones, how can this one app crash my phone so badly? I’ll tell you: sometimes I can’t even kill the app for minutes; the entire phone becomes unresponsive. Have you read their version update logs? It’s a generic description each time. What are the developers actually fixing with the plethora of versions being released? How about focusing on RAM and CPU usage? Very limited recommendation and I would never pay for it at this point. Minus 4 stars for nearly melting my phone’s internals—I’m guessing it’s the CPU overheating.

People using my photos AGAIN. It’s happened a few time on this site to where it was brought to my attention that a user was using my photos. Im not even on this site and I haven’t been for years. They do nothing for verification and those using my photos were harassing other users. This is troubling especially in contrast to the work that I do. In the past I have come to realize that, If you use this app, expect to meet those with fake profiles and those that solicit money for sex. Next time I will have to take legal action against the app for defamation if they continue to allow the use of my copyrighted photos. Such apps should not be allowed on the App Store. On all personal sites, no one should be allowed to troll with no photo, no info, or at least with out verification. If these sites used verification, it will end fake users and identity theft. Discretion defeats the purpose on this site and catering to those of discretion causes way more problems then the disallowing of it. It’s a personals site, stop allowing those that hide and watch the app soar.

Crashing issues. In the last week, my Grindr app has started crashing every time I’ve tried opening it, sending me right back to my home screen. I was a couple versions behind, so I thought upgrading it to the most recent version would fix it. It didn’t. I used a third party program to downgrade my app version even lower to see if maybe it was just a recent bug. Nope! Still crashing as low as 7.17.0. I believe this issue is server sided and nothing to do with the app version. And despite having chats backed up, attempting to reinstall the app wiped my chat history AND my chat backup. I don’t really understand what the purpose is for cloud backups if reinstalling the app deletes them. Under what other circumstances would someone need chat backups other than having to reinstall the app? I was in contact with the Grindr help email and they told me this was a bug they were aware was affecting multiple people. I hope they fix it soon, because these reviews are filled with people experiencing the same problem as I am.

Compassion for good people. That is what is needed on this wide and broad app. You can meet a lot of different people, but someone like me who just wants to share love and have the experience I want needs an app that is going to serve them. I deleted my profile multiple times, trying to restart with a clean slate, and now I have this one and I’m charging through with my little strong engine, fighting for my right to match with like minded people. We are all beautiful in our own ways, and this app needs to facilitate the same love its users give it. Cheaper options to upgrade and boost, allowing the option to not so easily block someone just because they sent you love (lol, it does happen on this app), allowing a better explore feature, allowing others to post sexy pics, not being choosy just because someone pays into the app and they have a rigid body standard not everyone wants to live by, allowing kindness to flourish. These good tips would make the app better, and I know you guys have it within you to foster a good experience that people have outside the app. Thank you.

GOOD JOB FOR WHAT?!. Grindr and Jack’d are ANALOGOUS for what?Might as well be one app. Only thing different is the target audience (Grindr: privilege/ Jack’d: Minority), allowing screenshots within chat (Grindr: Yes/ Jack’d: No) though in my opinion i think screenshots should be disabled within the whole app itself, but if not at least the profile search page to see who’s nearby out of respect of others’ privacy that they claim they want, sending pics and videos (Jack’d: yes/ Grindr: only pics but videos gotta be sent live) and i get the live video from Grindr but wen i wanna feel lazy i just wanna send the video i already got that’s been working just fine to confirm that I’m legit because this black don’t crack, navigational location dropping (Jack’d: yes/ Grindr: No) and Grindr drops the location but you would have to type it out unless you have the world map memorized, and maybe the subscription but that’s sad in itself should jus be one price in my opinion, but we got profit feens. Other than that everything is cool i mean there’s probably other things i haven’t covered but there are other issues not pertaining to the apps but individuals themselves that may need time to look at a reflection of themselves to reevaluate and I'm still learning this myself. Just gotta take it a day at a time and use your time wisely.

App is garbage, iCloud backup not working. Beyond all the issues with bots, trolls and data theft by the company. I am unable to restore my iCloud chat backup. For the longest time I was actually unable to even load the app it just kept crashing. So I got an idea that eh what would I lose if I uninstall it? I got my iCloud backup. Well apparently something changed with the app that my iCloud doesn’t recognize it as the same app I made a backup from. It instead thinks its a different app entirely. When I check my app history it does indeed show I have downloaded 2 different apps from the app store. My guess is the people at Grindr were tired of trying to fix the bugs that prevented it from working with iOS 14.x and just rebuilt the app in iOS 14.x. But then Apple issued it a different ID that doesn’t match the previous one. Fix it!! I got hundreds of chats and photos in that backup that I want back! Update: App ever since iOS 16.1 has been worse. Now it just constantly says “Unable to refresh” and my friends tiles show them as offline thousands of miles away when I know they aren’t. I hope this gets fixed!

One of the Most Fun and Safe apps to meet Guys!. Yes my partner and I been using this dating/friend making app for years now and I can only say is that if your responsible smart and very clear with your intentions you no doubt have a great time or simply end the conversation way before meeting that other guy. I’ve also noticed many guys complain about getting thrown off the app site or simply black listed. And then they ask WHY? 🤷‍♂️😵😭 if your being a bully, or a straight up stocker then people will complain about you and Make sure they show them the conversation record word by word etc. so be nice present and after getting to know one another well exchange numbers meet up in a public location etc. we’re all adults here at the end of the Day so let’s act like it and have fun with that new friend. 😉

This app is garbage.. So this used to be an app where you could meet people. Yeah, there were some perverts on here but I used to meet new friends on here. That’s hard to do when you’re LGBTQIA+. But within the past few years the ads have gotten super aggressive, the limitations have gotten overbearing, and now with this new higher tier subscription that is ridiculously priced… it used to be for a reasonable monthly fee you got everything. Now, they’re milking this for all it’s worth. I was a subscriber before then but that ridiculous higher tier subscription resulted in me cancelling because it wasn’t worth it anymore. On top of that, if you put “not accepting NSFW pictures”, it would be super easy to implement a notification before pictures are sent notifying the sender before they send sexually explicit images. But Grindr won’t implement that and as a result you can’t be on this app without being sexually harassed every time you log in. This app is where the worst of our community congregates and it is no longer welcoming to the rest of us.

May as well rebrand your name to “Greedy”. With each update, you get less and less options for free users, and soon it will be unusable, unless you pay. While I don’t mind paying, these prices are far too steep for what you get. Not to mention you might drop $80-$100 only to find you’ve been banned shortly after with no explanation as to why. (Yes developers, I’ve seen your responses to other reviews on this matter, but I know too many men in my own circles that are evidence to the contrary. Bottom line is your moderation system is terrible.) Speaking of my own circles, no one ever has anything good to say about this app. They just treat it like a necessary evil they have to put up with. I’m beginning to seek alternatives, and encourage others to do so as well. I would rather pay for a platform that provides me with some kind of benefit to do so, not because I feel like I’m being squeezed in a vice and have no other choice. Just keep in mind, it’s a slippery slope. The more unusable you make it, the less users you’ll have in your base, the less likely users will see value in paying for anything no matter what the price is at that point.

Best App to Meet Transgender Women. And fir Transgender's women to meet men. I have been using Grindr for several years now and i love it. i have trued many other apps that say they are better but it's all lies. Nothing is better or even come close enough to even be considered as comparable. There's really no competition because Grindr has all the bases covered: U can video chat verify to prevent Cat-Fishing, which is is a huge time saver. U can see who's close by and try to start a conversation. Exchange pics and send your location. I like how grindr really takes measures to prevent harassment and allows you to report and block people that may be bullying or if you simply just don't want to talk to them. You cant go wrong with grindr. there are so many options if u get the Extra or Unlimited subscription you can go beyond what's around your immediate area and it allows you to see the typing status of someone youre chatting with and even unsend messages and become invisible online.

FORCED UPDATES. They are FORCING you to update. With every update there are less and less guys on your feed and access to les and less features. They constantly limit your feed and create blocks with the explore feature. Its bad enough you have to watch the ADS after every message, they do everything to inconvenience you, waste your TIME, just to corral you into buying premium when you are simply trying to connect with a few people on the grid. If I cant see all the guys in my small town within a 5 mile radius, theres something WRONG with that! Its ALSO discrimination against low income individuals, people of color, and minority communities. especially when they REMOVED the feature that let me find my own people, you cant search by “race” anymore, so if you want to connect with your own people, GOOD LUCK! I shouldn't have to use the EXPLORE feature just to find my own people, and even with that they limit you to 3 “free” searches per day. They basically gentrifying the digital space, so if you poor and cant afford premium, guess what, you miss out!!!!! 👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽

Wasted potential. I’ve been using this app for a year and it has worked in getting dates its just very hard like because i have to sift through all the people who are hundreds of miles away just to find one thats close to me like the ratio of not far to way too far has to be like 1:15 that’s terrible and there’s no way to stop it because unlike every other dating app grindr doesn’t have a distance limit you can set, and the dumbest thing that always experience when using this app is when I use explore and use my location or a place 20 minutes away profiles show up but most if not all end up being hundreds of miles away, this is so frustrating and really infuriating because such a big problem can be fixed with such a simple solution just add a distance filter to the plethora of other ones that are there and this app would probably be better than every other dating app, but I know that grindr is never gonna fix this issue so honestly it’s just a waste of time ninety percent of the time.

Grindr acts like they can’t be sued. As a paid member, I was shocked by Grindr implications that all of us are raciest based on our preferences. Then the of but not limited to false and misleading advertising at the time of purchase. At some point they will try use ages since age is a protected class from discrimination. And then it will be body built types since that may fall under ADA if stocky or too thin due to a medical condition. Grindr has took it upon themselves to actually take our money and then decrease the options. Even the moderators fail to remove fake profiles, pick the photos we can post by areas, and remove bots from advertising to paid members, when that is one reason they give for being a paid member. That we get no advertisements, however there are times I have reported the same advertisement more than once and more at times tens of times, before they are removed. Do Not Purchase Grindr until they listen to the hundreds now thousands of members demanding options back and that they respect the terms of service they advertised!

Horrible. I have been using this app for several years for what this app is used for. Then on the day I decide to purchase a one month membership to get the Xtra features I was banned without notice. I thought it to be a technical glitch so I reached out to the support for them and asked for reasons on the ban and they said all I have todo is appeal the ban. I went a week without word back, and reached out again and again. Then I received a email back that only said that I now have a lifetime ban and that I’m screwed because I purchased it, but better cancel my subscription or they will keep billing me. The only thing they said why I was banned was because of community guidelines. I asked for clarification on what I violated because I had no nudity, no foul language, no in appropriate speech, and as a person I don’t talk bad about other people. This is a horrible app, if you are doing what you are supposed to be doing. And they are no help in trying to rectify the situation. The language that they used in there correspondence with me makes me feel like I am a bad person, and being punished for something that never happened. I have been warned about random people getting banned for no reason then get excommunicated for absolutely no reason. Shame on the company Grindr, Inc. same on what you do to loyal customers and I hope this prevents you from marking any money off of your next victim. The essential stole from me and now won’t tell me why. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!!!!!

I don’t have the patience for this anymore. Update: There’s a bug that deletes all photos that are more than a couple months old… It just shows a paper icon with a slash going through it. I really cannot wait for my subscription to expire. Every time a Grindr server goes down, my app shows a “Cannot Refresh Page” error. Then, when the server is finally back up, my app becomes broken and crashes each time I attempt to open it. The only solution is to delete & redownload the app, which deletes all of my settings, blocked accounts, messages, and photos. This is an app I pay for — a pretty large sum of money too. Yet, I have had to delete all of my data three times these past several weeks. Backing up chats is cumbersome, as you’re rarely asked to back them up and it’s just weird to make users manually do it when it’s a task that should’ve been automated. I’ve already decided I’m not renewing my $100+/year subscription. If the app refuses to load again, I’ll just delete it permanently. I can’t think of another social media account that deletes ALL of your data after removing the app. Ridiculous.

Catering to the hot ones. I can’t blame the app for this but I can blame the developers for allowing every white male to break the conditions and rules of Grindr. How many times do you see a white male in his underwear with the lining of his penis? (All the time) or any other “attractive” male. If any other race or person does that their picture is immediately removed. The culture that Grindr calls “inclusive” is the exact opposite. Grindr has been the worst experience when it comes to advertising of sexiness in races and culture. The LGBT community and the rest of the world as a whole is also to blame for this lack of consideration. Downloading this app was one of the worst decisions I have ever made in my life. Grindr and its developers are out to take our money and that’s it. The subscription prices are out of hand, and the amount of ads you see are insane. Scruff doesn’t force you to watch an ad to satisfy their ad experience. There are also more features and more people to see on Scruff. Grindr has been around longer yet fails to evolve into a more developed platform. The amount of times the app crashes or slows a device down is immeasurable. Fix it!

Not inclusive of trans women. For a dating app that states they cater to the LGBTQ community, they don’t really care for transgender women. I used Grindr a lot prior to my transition and never had an issue. Fast forward 5 years later and now a post-op trans woman I decided to try it out again and my account was banned after a few weeks on the app. When I reached out to appeal my ban, Nathan from “Grindr Support” stated that the decision was final, there’s nothing that can be done, and that they would not be responding to any further inquiries about my account. Even though I express to them that I didn’t care to know “who” reported me, I more so wanted to know the reason of my ban for example what exact term or condition did I “violate” to get banned? Being that I didn’t lie about who I was, I never offended/disrespected anyone, nor used fake info, my profile was the cleanest profile on that app. There are some that have their bare bottoms as their profile pics, sending endless inappropriate pictures/messages, and even some literally offering money for sexual favors…..yet, I was the one that got banned. It felt like they didn’t even bother to look into it or actually try to help. At this point I’m getting BIG transphobic vibes. Tinder was a lot more helpful about this issue, I just wish Grindr was the same, but anyways Happy Holidays everyone!

It’s really not too bad. I don’t think Grindr deserves ALL the hate it gets. Sure, there are a ton of bots and scams, but if your IQ is higher than room temperature, they’re so easy to spot. The ads definitely get annoying so I wish they had a bottom (lol) tier price to strictly remove ads for us poverty gays. I’d pay $5 a month for that alone. Really for an app like this, you get what you put into it. If your profile is trashy, don’t complain if your DMs are full of trash. I’ve had a lot of success using the app and made some genuine connections with some awesome guys! All that being said, guys claiming to be 18, 19, 20 scare me sometimes since there is NO age verification on the app. I have started to avoid this age group. This is dangerous for both underage young men who are no doubt using the app and for everyone else using the app. All it takes is proof of picture ID to end this phenomenon which countless other apps already implement. I’m certain that if Grindr’s parent company doesn’t implement some sort of age verification, we will be seeing a huge lawsuit come from either a government or as a class action.

Sadly, not what it used be. The app went way downhill after it was sold to greedy American investors. Instead of improving the user experience the new owners have put all of their resources into nickel and diming users for basic features. The result is the app is almost impossible to use without one of the expensive paid membership tiers. Like how the app only shows you a couple profiles in your immediate neighborhood and hides all the rest unless you subscribe for twenty bucks a month. It makes it a worse experience for everyone because most people don’t have a paid subscription, and if you do, the ones who don’t almost certainly cannot not see you. It’s also full of bugs. The block button doesn’t work, the individuals you try to block still show up in your taps and messages. When someone taps or messages you just once, you get three or for notification alerts simultaneously. I am seeing fewer and fewer new users instead of the same faces. I guess gays are finding alternatives that are less scammy than what Grindr has become.

They finally have fixed the problems. This app keeps getting more and more and more and more expensive. They change the price every six months it seems. I had been an off and o. Paid subscriber for years. They just have gotten too expensive. Their pic moderation seems extremely biased and is not consistent. If you aren’t a twink or muscle guy any pic seems to get moderated. I have screen shot over 280 pics where the pic wasn’t moderated and mine was. Either it’s racial or body specific. I talking to an attorney to see what type of class action lawsuit can be filed for it to either have them consistently moderate or shut the site down. Also seems like an abnormal amount of bots are allowed now and an overwhelming amount of underage guys are on the site another filing I’m working on with an attorney. Chances are that Grindr won’t even respond to this review, but I’d steer away from this site.

Dangerous. I’ve had someone use my photos for about a year and each time I reported them and reached out to support the profile would take days to be taken down. That profile also unknowingly harassed some of my direct reports from work which made for a very awkward conversation - something I never thought I’d have to deal with as a manager. Additionally, they actually offer zero support in terms of preventing this type of behavior. I ended up hopping off the app hoping they’d get bored but they persisted. There is no verified status (tinder has), and no internal system that tracks similar photos being uploaded by other users. It’s actually quite funny that when you post a photo you have a period of waiting where it needs to be approved. Why aren’t people caught at this stage for using someone else’s photos? At a bare minimum if you’re charging that much for ultimate - you need to include some safety features. Ideally, incorporate safety for all users. App works as intended, but is extremely unsafe to use. There is nothing stopping someone from creating a fake profile using your photos and ruining your reputation.

Banned for no reason. I’ve always heard of this app on one big platform just as TikTok never considered getting it cause it didn’t seem real and every video I came across seem like bait This year I’ve lost hope in finding something real but I went through many apps and I was like hey why not install this one so I did. It had me at first make account post a couple pictures boom paid features but I ain’t let that get in the way I still proceeded to use the free side of the app to find people the texts were flowing through I responded to some and others I ain’t feel as comfortable responding to cause off the rip “ let’s meet” all this big sexual gestures but no greetings such as “hey” “how are you” one day outta this week I go into the app and it’s say I’ve been banned for violating the community guidelines which I am so confused to why I did I even searched multiple videos to see what could I’ve possibly do no harassment no slander no discrimination what so ever everyone that swiped up I either responded or kept it pushing if I didn’t feel right bout how the chat started I’ve tried to make a new account day by day and it’s banning them before I could even put a picture up and I’m confused as to what could l possibly cause all of this cause at this point I’m over the whole online find a mate, friend ,lover stuff cause this experience is by far the worse and I refuse to ever experience this again

Can’t get into account. 3 days now I have restarted my phone and iPad I have downloaded again same window enter number then I get to many attempts. Customer service reported and they are now not even responding. I cannot enter email address for account it’s the same window when reinstall it every time. I don’t have another number to enter. I can’t get the app to do anything other than enter your number. I have done everything that’s on the web to fix this I have reported is over and over. Customer service doesn’t read the issues I’m having they want me to do things that I can’t do because it’s the Sam screen over and over. What is the fix what do we do about this. I have requested a phone number to talk to a live person and can not get one. I have done everything again now 3 days

Joke.. I’ve been on Grindr for a long time now, probably for 8 years now, and I’ve seen the fluctuations with the user interface and the development of it being a subscription app. With said development, I can understand the desire for the company to make a profit, however the current state of the app is the worst it’s ever been. Messages won’t load, and even if they do load, there would be three notifications letting me know “DTFDOMDADDY tapped you”. (I made sure to double check all settings to see if I made an error for this too but no). It’s hard for an app to rely on conversations and it’s the most tedious aspect of it. But even before you message, the free version of the app keeps getting limiting and limiting with how many people you can see on the grid. Then when you see someone on the limited grid to message them, an advertisement (for me it’s those stupid mobile game ads) that completely distracts me from that conversation I wanted to have. One might argue that hey, maybe you just need to buy premium! Or I think in terms of this app, XTRA. But I’m sorry, I’m not paying money to be able to hold a conversation, I can just go to any social media for that. It’s just really sad to see the state of such an iconic gay dating app not be elevated to the status it should be.

Underhanded Advertising Practices. I hate this app for numerous reasons. Chief amongst them, however, are their nefarious advertising practices. Open the free version and you, theoretically can click around the grid immediately, right? Instead of opening to an ad, which you can expect, if you immediately start clicking on the grid there’s a few seconds lag in which you are already touching the screen/talking someone when all of a sudden an ad appears and you misclick it by accident. Grindr knows you hate these ads and are just waiting for the “skip ad” button to appear (barely legible though it may be). In order to make it look like there’s higher traffic to their advertisers’ frankly laughably bad sites/games/whatever, they make it appear at a point they know you’re already clicking on the screen and are more likely to tap the ad which suddenly opens up 3 new windows prompting you to download (and sometimes even pay for) whatever the latest candy crush rip off is. At first I thought oh this app is so glitchy, but they’ve had ample opportunity to resolve this clearly unfair and likely illegal tactic and simply have not. I would like to see Apple/FTC or whoever take action on these predatory advertising practices.

This app belongs in the garbage. Much like my profile no one will probably read this review. The app has somehow become even more terrible. Ads that can no longer be skipped, hiding ALL features behind paid subscription. It won’t be long before the “free” version of the app isn’t free anymore, I’m already paying you with my time spent viewing ads and being force fed them in between chats. This most recent update reduced the number of profiles you can view with tags to 3! It used to be 9 which was, barely, tolerable, but now they limited it to force you to sub for xtra (added bonus if you block those 3 profiles, it doesn’t load additional profiles anymore). I already use scruff primarily since at least it’s free version isn’t hot dumpster fodder like Grindr, but come on, you guys innovated this, your app was novel for so long, but you caved to greed and are trying to monetize every square pixel. Your business model is trash, and isn’t helping the community like you may think it is, you’re just taking advantage of an already marginalized group, the last thing we need is our own kind fleecing us.

Please help. I went on my account today and saw that I was banned. I couldn’t believe it and then I came into the App Store to write a review on this and saw other people are having the same problems. I did send a form for you to review my account and I hope you will do so, and do so quickly. Believe me, I am a paying member, I’ve been with Grindr for many years, and I can’t believe I have been banned for no reason whatsoever, and I checked off all of the guidelines after reading them thoroughly. I don’t know if there is a glitch in your system at this point in time, but I also just recently renewed my membership like one of the other members who commented that they were banned After doing so. I like Grindr, I hope that I can get you to understand that I did nothing wrong and get my account back. I am not interested in writing a bad review on your company as of yet because I think this is an error. Thank you so I hope you will look at my feedback in a positive way. Frederick. Clear cache. Update... thank you for reinstating my subscription, and I will look forward to many fun times on your site.

Safety is not a commodity. I’ve downloaded and deleted this app several times over the years, my only issue: the safety. Users must PAY for SAFETY FEATURES. I understand the need to monetize, but there are other ways - host member only community events. Prioritize member profiles in the grid. Something, anything, but safety. Why can I not delete an address I accidentally sent? What if that person actually comes to my house or stalks me? It happened. Why do men who have had accounts deleted or removed for harassment have so much access to the app, the ability to create seemingly unlimited accounts? Grindr is transparent about their non liability in safety policies but I expect more for my community. Safety cannot be guaranteed, that is a given in any space online or physical. But why is dangerous behavior permitted? Why must I, a struggling college student, pay $20/month for access to basic safety features I can find in any other social media platform? Especially in the current climate of violence towards LGBTQ people, to trans people facing disproportionate amounts of violence. I come back to the app occasionally because I like to emphasize my effort to be a part of the community, connect with people I feel seen by and safe with in a world I already see as so dangerous to people like me. I want the community. But I’m disappointed time and time again to see Grindr devalue their users, violate and capitalize our right to safety.

Warning about Grindr. What I want to say about this app that I really love Al lathe great people love have met and spoken to in it, the problem is that way too many people flake on the app or do not respond to you quickly so there’s a tendency to be somewhat upset and stressed out when you are on the app due to people playing games and making what you want to happen whether it’s a date, an interesting chat talk, hookup, and so on not happen and it leads to unhappiness and just stress. So if you download Grindr, know that you will have to have tough skin dealing with people like that cause it will have an effect on you 9 times out of 10. The stress and anxiety might come indirectly, but somehow, flakers have a way of affecting people by not meeting the need you are looking for on the app. Some people want to be in a relationship, want to hookup, go on a date. It’s hard to do all those things if I people are flaking and are leaving you with no response to the chat that is started. It’s so upsetting and stressful man!!!!

Trash app. Got suspended for no reason, no email and no text to my phone number telling me what I was in violation of. It appears that if a certain number of profiles who don’t like you or are jealous of your profile, the ones you want nothing to with because your 18 and there in their 40s they can report it for no reason and Grindr blocks that account including your cellular number. It makes it so you can’t make a new account which is odd on why they need our number it’s not like it’s uses it for two step verification I think it’s a violation of privacy. I wanted to continue to talk to decent people that aren’t Grindr Karen’s or lurking pedophiles, which seems to be an important issue on this platform that Grindr fails to fix. This will be my last time using Grindr and if this review doesn’t get through to you all you have to ask yourself what is Grindr hiding that they don’t want others to see or know. I was bullied to the point others reported my profile for no reason because I wasn’t interested in them. An got victimized by them and Grindr. I’m waiting for a generic developers response!

Wow. So I’ve always heard about Grindr as a younger gay male, I’ve heard it was good for getting out there and also that it is a very gross environment. From what I experienced it was really good and helped me interact with people I would have never have met, I found it quite charming in all honestly. Except when I got a permanent ban a week after getting it, I was confused and went through all the guidelines to find out what I had breached but I really couldn’t put a finger on it. I didn’t send inappropriate messages, my bio wasn’t vulgar like most others, I was of legal age. Then I thought it was my profile picture, it was rather attractive photo of myself so my friend put it on their account they don’t use as a test and got permanently banned, do I look underage, do they find I’m a fake account, I wouldn’t have a clue because they don’t give any reason or explanation or warning for permanently blacklisting your number. I tried to appeal then I read online most don’t even get a reply to that. So thanks for the experience I’ll try to be less attractive in the future

Ruined by incognito. Incognito - in which users can avoid showing themselves as being online. The result: they can’t be sized up by anyone else, unless they approach or view someone who isn’t incognito, and even then, only that small proportion of visible ones can ever see them. As the proportion using incognito increases - and I reckon that proportionn is pretty high in my region - the app become pointless. An ever increasing number of the most desirable guys are invisible. But the invisible ones, those who use incognito, may just as well not bother to use the app, because those invisible ones can never ever see other invisible ones. How to ruin a dating app: allow 'incognito'. Congrats to you, Grindr. Your shortsightedness has achieved the ruination of your own app.

Account ban?. I have literally never made an account before and received the phone off a friend, he has obviously used the phone to make an account and get permanently banned, I try to make an account and I’m instantly banned, I tried to explain this to the support team but it kept coming to the same conclusion, to bad so sad type thing, I’m beyond disappointed.

Great app to meet others. I have used Grindr for years as well as many other apps but still find Grindr the best as the messages are more instant, the navigation is easiest and the features as well as the filters work the best, also the support is great. I definitely recommend it for anyone else who wants to meet other people.

Horrible support. tried to sign up for an account numerous times but for some reason i would instantly get banned, and so I would try to contact support to ask about it, but not only were they blatantly not going to help me because my information didn’t match the information that they had about me, even though i literally haven’t even given them anything except for my email and DOB, but they were flat out rude and unprofessional, and it seems like it’s standard procedure to ghost people who need support. youd be better off using their competitor who aren’t even targeted for lgbt people than using this app who refuses to help you and ghosts you more than your matches does.

UX atrocious. The user experience is getting worse. I’m on a paid account yet I get constant in-app spam to pay $15 to boost or upgrade to Unlimited. The new interface design violates the basic rules of UX. Now you scroll vertically to see photos until you reach an album then it’s back to horizontally. The actual user data isn’t available until you scroll to the very bottom. Further, tapping back from a chat gets you lost in repeat screens of the same chat rather than getting back to the main message home page. The whole UX team needs to be sent back to university if they ever studied UX in the first place.

Grindr fail for 2024. Whatever updates happened at the start of the year have ruined the app. It is so glitchy now. Messages don’t show up until you log in and out a few time. Or you receive them 20 minutes after people have sent them. Peoples album don’t open when you click on it, you have to go back to their profile to hit “view album” this is the worst usability that it has ever been. The og 2015 version was more reliable. Still a great app and love the improvements but really need to fix the basic function of sending and receiving messages.

What a joke!. As an early adopter of Grindr back when it was first launched I can attest to how much it has changed; from being the original leader in gay geo-based dating . I’m not sure why anyone would use this app now, let alone pay for it. It has served its purpose and has now been superseded by many better options. The amount of fake profiles that Grindr allow to proliferate the app makes for a negative user experience. The pricing structure is a joke - the value of the “features” comparable to the associated cost is laughable. Why not just throw your money down the drain instead? It would probably be more entertaining. The constant updates highlight nothing but how incompetent the coders are, and usually impact the user negatively. After 14 years of intermittent use Grindr did me a huge favour and permanently banned me from using their low grade international phishing service for no reason. The “customer service” is non-existent so once you’ve been banned you’ll never be given a reason as to why. But don’t fret - life without Grindr has been so much more positive! It really is redundant so do yourselves a favour, stop paying for it, stop using it and get out in the real world to meet real men for yourselves! :)

Zero responsibility. The number of profiles openly offering escort and massage services or dealing drugs is stunning! In-app reporting doesn’t work, as profile is marked as ‘awaiting moderation’ sometimes for days….and then the tag is removed with no changes to the profile. Explanation from ‘customer service’ is laughable as they give copy-paste answers or tell you just to block the profile in question?!? They would routinely ask for your login info and a good chance is that your profile will be suspended or even your device disabled . Not to mention continuously limiting options for basic subscription and aggressive push to actually pay for this would be pure masochism.

Banned for no reason. Like many other people commenting here, my device has been randomly banned for no reason. As per Grindr’s standard Modus Operandi, they would not provide me a reason why, hiding behind their scripted response of “privacy and safety”. Any further attempts to communicate with “customer service” are simply ignored by them. So basically, your account will just be arbitrarily banned on their whim and there is simply no way you can defend yourself. Meanwhile, the spammers, scammers, abusers and drug dealers get to run rampant on the app with complete impunity. It just isn’t good enough. Don’t bother with this app until they start un-banning real users and cracking down on the fakes. It’s not worth your time and hassle. To the developers: you really need to fix the unfair banning of users issue. It is properly out of control!!

Going into 4th day without a working app. App crashed on Sunday, I contacted the team and have had no solution provided! They haven’t even bothered to wind it back to an older version of the app that at least opened! Incredibly disappointed by this. Shame it’s the main app that guys use otherwise I would have just moved on! Have had no updates from support team and the only response I get is they have no solution. Glad I don’t pay for this app! After this experience I likely never will pay for it! I hope they get their act together! This is just pathetic! App is constantly crashing, won’t open or load pictures. Keep losing chats. I hope someone else can develop a better app and we can leave this app to its death finally. Nothing but bad reviews lately and they do nothing to fix it.

Needs more safety features. Grindr feels great for what it provides - instant connections, but I rarely feel safe on there. I don’t like that I have to pay in order to have my online status hidden. I get constantly harassed by people becasue I don’t reply to them and they can see that I’ve been online recently. I can block them, but people can also so easily make a new profile. On an off-topic note, I think with how frequently photos get shared between Grindr users I think the app could really benefit from adding a “paid album” feature where people could pay a small amount to gain access to someone’s private album

Terrible UX, fake profiles and drug dealers. Absolutely FULL of fake profiles and people selling drugs. UX is the worst of all the apps I’ve used on iOS — stutters, can’t scroll, profile image may or may not load; the whole point of that app — chatting to someone — sometimes messages send, maybe not. Notifications might trigger, maybe not. And that’s not even to get started on the shill-moves when it comes to ads. Popups, takeovers and blocking content. The close icon is intentionally made to be so small and they flip position from top right to top left to make it easier for you to inadvertently tap the ad. I had a message pop up about chat problems, couldn’t read it - a takeover ad opened and of course you can’t dismiss it. No way to read that message now. Awful awful user experiences.

Absolutely rubbish - unable to very my phone number, keeps saying it’s not a valid phone number.. Absolute joke of a sign up process - the verification process keeps rejecting my phone number. It is a valid, active phone number which has been used plenty of times on other websites and apps. Grindr’s ‘support’ team is utter garbage. I have spent weeks emailing them, never getting a reply. Have to send 3/4 emails to get a response from the same useless ‘support’ agent telling me to use a valid number and not a VOIP number. I have provided the same screenshots over and over…his solution? “Use another phone number”?!?! - alright, idiot - I’ll use one of the 6 other numbers I have, shall I?! No phone number to contact them, no live chat - USELESS!

Grindr support is garbage. The support team for this app are either bots or just the dumbest humans to be employed. They have no idea how to fix an issue. When they get stuck, just simply just stop responding to you. I’ve contacted about 6 different support persons, to which I receive the same generic responses and then silence… Talk about ghosting, these guys take the cake. Utterly disgusting approach for a company. You guys should be ashamed. And they respond to my comment here telling me to contact the exact same email that have been either ignoring me or telling me they don’t know how to fix the issue. Stop pretending like you care about anything other then money!

The new grindr is frankly confusing. Gone are the days of simply swiping left to sort by filter. Now there are three separate lines of options on the main page (Profile, "Seen by", Filters; secondly Nearby, Fresh guys, Explore; and finally, Starred, Browse, Chat, Xtra) muddling things and making it a mess of an app. Throw in the spambots still trying to get you to visit links outside of the app, and the lack of action from reporting certain profiles that should not be on the app, and yeah, three stars is generous actually.

What’s the point of TAGS?. Either I’m confused or other people are confusing me because I thought TAGS were features that you had but NOT what you’re into. For example if I were an ‘elephant’ I would TAG that in my profile in case others were into elephants but if I was into elephants than I shouldn’t tag that right? Because what happens is when I search by tag for people who are ‘elephant’s it comes up with a whole heap of ppl in my same position looking for that rather than having that particular feature. So it’s pointless. It seems to confusing for most - really it’s just taking up room on my tiny screen and I’m sure taking up memory, just be delete it all together.

Too slow for sending msgs. When I sent my pics, the indication shows me that the receivers have read my msgs and got pics I sent. (I’m a paid member) But receivers sometimes complain that they haven’t got my pics and blamed me who asked to show me their pics. I definitely sent my pics !! Other then, Thank you so much for your hard work all the time.

Fakes and flakes. So many fakes and catfish and flakes. Constant fake profiles that continually want you to talk via WhatsApp or Snapchat or email, so they can phish your details. Often the same phoney script over and over. I report these virtually daily and admin take days to remove them. Not good enough. It needs better verification. Also, despite paying for a subscription, there is a daily bombardment of ads and prompts to get you to spend even more money. Apparently you have to pay a premium to make yourself visible!!!! Also lots of ghost notifications and messages - the app says I have unread messages but then there aren’t any. I saw a hilarious meme recently that said they need a Grindr, but for single people. Lol. So true! Also, despite a paid subscription, you are unable to view profiles that have viewed yours. You have to pay an even more expensive premium to do that! We know the developers need to make money to survive, but the monetisation of gay desire on this app is geared towards you spending more and more. It is gamed against you. An app made by capitalists, not by allies.

Your latest update is a failure it doesn’t even like. I hope you guys are fixing the latest update. Anyone who has an updated the app to this version, DONT!!! The moment you open the app it starts to load and crashes, and the app is now an accessible. No matter what you do, and if it isn’t fixed, you can’t get any of the messages that are in the app that you haven’t read and anything that you haven’t backed up will get lost. Fix this guys things like this doesn’t happen often when they do you guys should be prepared for it, especially whenYou have customers that pay for this app and basically pay for you guys to get this right !!!

Glitchy. I've been using Grinder off and on for a few years. However, since returning, I have found the app has a load of issues. Sending messages to another profile has sent an inbox notification telling me I have received a message. Inaccurate locations are another issue. Following that the distance between other users is not always correct. The app is not automatically refreshing itself as it has previously done. There is something seriously wrong with the app, and I feel like there is a security breach somewhere in this system or else it would be fixed. REAL PROBLEMS. Keeping in mind we pay for this service and expect better. Time to shine the light on this and spread the word in our communities and government bodies because we deserve better for a product we pay for.

Worlds #1 app also Worlds #1 for expensive!. Can be such a good app and may be the worlds #1 app for the community. The owners pricing of memberships is just ridiculously expensive and greedy! You would be pulling billions of dollars from users with paid membership that there's no reason pricing should be so expensive with the amount of users you have. If anything lowering your price would gain more members who can afford to pay for a membership. Nearly $60 AUD a month is just ridiculous. Considering the amount of glitches and faults the app has at best of times and the possible risk of being banned without warning from some haters in the community that desire to all report so you get banned when you haven't done anything. Risk losing that $60 with "no refund" stated and enforced in your T&Cs.

Poor experience. After downloading the app again after being off it for several months I was banned without any explanation whatsoever. I read through the guidelines and terms of use and know for a fact I did not break any rules so I emailed support for an explanation and was advised by staff member Kelly that due to privacy they would not provide an explanation... what privacy? It’s my account for crying out loud, who’s privacy are you protecting? I’m not asking you to tell me who reported me if that’s what happened all I asked for was a reason for being banned I was also told that this decision was final and as such any further queries would not be responded to which is ridiculous. How you gonna ban me then not offer and explanation and then refuse to discuss the matter. I did not break the law or any of your guidelines nor was I rude, abusive or display any toxic behaviour whilst using the app and yet I’m unable to appeal or get any sort of reasoning for your actions. If by chance I did break some rule I should at least be advised as to what I did that warranted this decision The whole situation is absurd and I am disgusted by your response

Fun police. Don’t do anything on Grindr. They’ll just ban you for breathing, probably. There’s no humanity on Grindr anymore, and instead of it being a social media app it’s just a policed space where everyone gets reported. Waste of time, go out to a bar instead. You may actually make a connection with someone real. You may even manage to avoid fake profiles and puff and play losers, too. Don’t bother trying to get customer support; Grindr seemingly cannot be bothered with it but they very quickly respond to reviews on the App Store. Curious. It’s as if they want money from subscribers without actually caring about users.

Terrible. The latest version is terrible. Tap on a profile photo and the app presents you with a blank profile image. If you click on the small profile pic in the header when chatting the pic will load (like the app just realised you might want to see it) but then if you want to get back to the grid you are forced to cycle back through the chat screen, then the profile pic screen, repeatedly like some horrific gay Russian doll nightmare. Not to mention the weird hard split between the profile info and user pics which seems like someone drunkenly drew a line somewhere in the bottom half of the screen to delineate the two. But yeah I guess us gays are beholden to this thing so keep taking my $30 per month by all means 🫠

Was good. Massive glitches now. Grindr - when it is working - is a great app for meeting new guys. Recently though it keeps crashing my phone and I have no choice but to fully delete the app off my phone and reinstall it (no offloading or anything). The daily backups are not enough to fix this problem. I contacted support about a month ago and have yet to hear back about the issue being resolved, meanwhile I am paying for Grindr xtra which I am essentially not able to use. This needs to be rectified quickly for the app to got back to being 4-5 stars.

3x Notifications. This app used to be good, but for the last few months you get 3x. Notifications for a Tap. There have been multiple update since, but it is still happening. I’ve done all the suggested troubleshooting steps. Delete and reinstall app, new account, new clean phone. The other reason for the two star is the adverts. They come up as you are typing a message rather than after you’ve sent one. And you usually have to pretend to downloads the advertised app before it will allow you to get back into the app. Why would anyone pay for the app with bugs still persistent throughout.

Updates. Every time you do updates there is a issue, since the last update was up load to my phone can not ever log on. How much do you test updates before uploading them?? Like not very much get your act together if you want people to pay for your service So now it been 5 days since dealing with customer support still no access to the service I have paid for. Customer support said the were fixing the issues as they were aware last email sent to them for update still no response great customer service I also would like to know what are they going to do with my paid service as it was fault I still do not have access??????. I bet there responds on here is contact customer support what a joke

Bleeding your wallet dry. A year ago, this app had reach an ideal state with a polished user experience. But in order to squeeze every possible dollar out of you, they're relentlessly making just about everything paid and expensive. In such a short time, you can no longer see who viewed your profile or albums shared over a week ago without paying $56AUD a month. It's hands down the most expensive popular dating app. Before long, I'm sure you'll have to pay to see your chat history. I understand the need to cover the cost of business but offer something more affordable. At least for people outside the US.

Work on the glitches. I have been a paid member for a while now and whilst its great not having ads, that seems to be the only real perk. Every time I get a new “tap” I receive 3 notifications. To view who has tapped me I have to open the app, realise its not showing who tapped, close and reset the app, re-open the app and then toggle between taps and messages until the taps finally update. When I receive a single new message I also get multiple notifications, even more when I have the app actively open in my hand and half of the time when I open the app to read the message it fully crashes. (Of course the grindr promo messages come through perfectly fine though…. On that note…. I pay extra for ad-free grindr but grindr can still advertise to me directly into my inbox?) I have now received 2 updates letting me know that losing messages is going to be a thing of the past…. Not seen any change yet. It blows my mind that grindr still hasn’t caught up with being able to access all data on multiple devices. (Sometime I use my ipad when I’m at home). I submitted these issues to support months ago and there has been no fix and no reply.

$$$. I have been on this app on and off for a few years, the last couple of times I paid for the extras. Just signed up recently and getting frustrated that you can only send a few pix on a daily pix or a message jump up that I must upgrade. This is getting ridiculous, because Grindr already got so many advertisers on their app that pops up every couple of minutes. Hope their will be a better app in the near future so we can dump this one.

If only I could give 0 stars. Wow, this app used to be somewhat decent a while back and one day it just suddenly changed. Nowadays there are constant bots, spammers, fakes and drug dealers/escorts that are somehow getting onto the app and ruining the experience for everyone. The “Guidelines” that are supposedly set for people’s profiles are clearly fake and prioritise certain people. I’ve been denied putting certain pics up due to being sexually suggestive or otherwise (someone explain to me how a drink is sexually suggestive?) whilst many other people get away with being nude or doing sexual acts or even having pornographic content in their profiles. I’ve reported quite a few of these people due to the unfairness and yet they still have those pics up, in fact some have even added more grotesque one’s and yet nothing. The App is a waste of time, money and storage I don’t recommend this to anyone, I suggest looking elsewhere.

too many red dots on conversations. the way this app uses red dots to notify you that you have new chats or comments has changed. If you receive a comment from someone else, then turning on the red dot above the chat icon is the right thing to do. But if you SEND a comment, do not turn the red dot on! you the. go check it expecting a new reply and instead it's just telling you that you sent a comment - which you don't need to read because you wrote it, What programmer unfamiliar with chat basics broke the red dot?

Gay Conservatives won’t welcome. This app runs by the far left brain washed people , so any of you are politically incorrect and not obeying their leftists terms and conditions , Grindr would ban your account without and explanation or warning . There is no such thing as free speech , democracy exist on this app , Grindr had no respect for the western culture , values too busy suppose there cult of Islam to thank Muslims for killing homosexuals and too busy changing our tradition rainbow flag to blank and brown for thugs lives matter . This leftists plant forms are the embarrassment for gay communities .

Problematic since it’s inception. Grindr Xtra has been problematic since it first came out. It doesn’t matter how many times you message them to fix something, it’s constantly buggy, things don’t get fixed. They upgrade the app without fixing the problems, and now they have a nerve to bombard you with messages and advertising to upgrade to their unlimited feature! Fix the one I’m paying for first before asking me to upgrade! Why would I pay more for a problematic app?! Seriously! You can’t even block people, so what’s the point having a block feature.

Gross negligence. Quite simply one of the worst cases of negligence on the internet. The app is rife with sexual harassment, catfishing, spam accounts, as well as some of the most disgustingly obnoxious people, who feel it’s appropriate to open conversation with a nude pic. They don’t protect their users, they don’t do anything to verify anyone, accounts are allowed to be entirely blank while they perv on all the others and then pop up and harass people. Yet, if you call them out, you’re more likely to get cautioned or even banned, than they are. It’s the most toxic culture, where people do things that are blatantly wrong or unethical, and just expect to get blocked and move onto the next person instead. How Grindr hasn’t been sued for negligence yet is a miracle!

Has VERY major bug. For past 2 months the app has been useless. It works for a day or so and then refuses to open and regularly crashes my iPhone And please don’t give your standard response about reaching out to your Help Team, just fix things. Review after review is telling you there is a problem. And for paying users, you are taking their money without providing the service. Refund their money or extend their subscription.

Xtra is now worthless. Grindr’s Xtra subscription is ridiculous and potentially bordering on fraudulent. Twice now, I’ve renewed an Xtra subscription, but halfway through my paid subscription, various ‘included’ features are no longer available (latest being the ability to open profiles of the last three people who viewed you). Not only does it make such ‘features’ useless, but you no longer get what you pay for. This is actually illegal in many countries’ consumer law… obviously though, not where Grindr is based. “We care about our members” - what rubbish! Overpriced and under-performing. Time to move to one of the others.

Constant crashing. I am a frequent user and enjoy using Grindr. But recently updated has caused the app crashing unexpectedly. Not only it crashes, but app needs to be deleted and reinstalled so it can be opened otherwise it will keep crashing immediately when trying to open. This can be very frustrating, especially in the middle of conversation, once it reinstalled, all chats history are gone. I’m not sure anyone else experienced this issue as well and I hope Grindr can look into this and fix the bug so it can run smoothly again. Appreciate all the help. ❤️‍🩹

more ad than app. every update brings more ads and no added function. every time a new feature is added it reduces the usability by just being another tab that can house ads. and the ads are evermore intrusive. NO ad should be able to open a separate app on my phone. also why do we need to see who has viewed us? just so we can reject people without ever having to interact? seriously tho. give all the advertisers their money back and strip grindr back to the way it was in the first few years. if you don't plan to improve it why spend money on “developing” it?

gentrification hits cyber space. What used to be a pretty great app for connecting with new people has been warped by pop-up ads and pop-up purchase pages that try to force you to buy the premium version of the app. The distance you can view people is reduced (and as a result, the actual amount of people you can see, reduced), put behind a paywall. The ability to see who has viewed you account, put behind a paywall. The ability to respond to a profile that has tapped yours, but is outside your range of view. Paywall. Oh and super fun, the ones who have paid for extra have the ability to see when you have opened a message, promoting abuse from horny old men who you don’t want to reply to. That doesn’t even get into the spam accounts who will harass you to visit their websites or purchase ‘massage services’. The app has continued to become less useful, more difficult, and is moving to put all aspects of the app that make it appealing behind a paywall. Grindr is holding on to its position as the primary gay dating/hookup app entirely on its name alone, and it won’t be long until a better, less greedy and exploitative app comes along to replace this mess.

Pretty miserable to deal with. Since your new app update I’ve never had issues with Grindr (as someone using Grindr for 13 years) at all. Now I’m not certain where the program team is. Every-time I open my app it cannot refresh at all. Additionally all photos from previous chats that haven’t been in albums are forfeit. I also am unable to spend more than 2 minutes on the app without getting a 30 second add. In addition to those issues I cannot even get messages that were sent to me a minute ago until 4 hours later. Also people that are apparently 2km away from me jump to 20kms away without them moving because I asked. Why on earth should we bother with these problematic issues when you can’t be bothered to fix your tech? I have been in the middle of conversations with people and it says my message couldn’t be delivered or worse error please try again, which doesn’t work. Please fix your app before you ask me to accommodate your money hungry needs. It should not take 2 mins before I see an add all the time. What will you do to fix this? It appears as a blatant disregard of why people use the app. Additionally, I wanna know what you’re doing to fix this? What is the issue you’re experiencing because it rings true for at least 10 Grindr users I know?

Horrible app. Grindr has never served me well in any instance, iv been sexuality assaulted , verbally abused when I used this app to meet guys and have constantly felt that I wasn’t worth anyone’s time and just ugly in general from using this app. And the funny thing is I’m not bad looking. Every health relationship iv been in has been with somebody who I have NOT met online. Guys delete this app and go out and met guys in clubs or at your local gay community group. I met my partner at his place of work and asked for his number. Cmon let’s get rid of Grindr today

not great. the app crashes at random times, ads will load and move UI elements meaning you can randomly press an ad, the "explore" feature will show you people hundreds of km away but wont tell you their distance until you unlock their profile and chat with them (as long as they have the location feature on). Its full of people who want to pay for sexual services with most of them putting "reward" in their name, you will be automatically banned without reason being provided, and the appeals process is terrible. ohh and almost everything is locked behind a paywall with incredibly high prices (appearing offline is like 56 AUD for a week or smthn)

Don’t use Grindr.. After using it for years, I was banned. No explanation. Nothing. The amount of abuse I copped from people, was disgusting. Nothing was ever done. But Grindr banned me for no reason whatsoever. The people who run the app are all useless at their job. I’m not the only one who has had issues with the app considering the amount of negative reviews. That’s so bad for customers to all be getting banned for no reason and the lack of explanation or help. Do the people who run it want to have their app closed down because they’re doing everything right for it to head in that direction. Sad. Don’t bother wasting your time, money or effort on such a garbage app. They clearly don’t care about its customers, just allowing scammers, bots and bullies to run rampant. Disgusting and not surprising at all. They only care about their pay check.

Getting worse by the day. I used to like Grindr, I now really dislike it. I understand that companies need to make money somehow but the subscriptions are simply prohibitive and the most basic free features are getting replaced by super expensive upgrades. Did Grindr ever considered that many people simply cannot afford it? Not everyone lives in a city with gazillion of disposable income. The gay community is made of a very diverse group of people including artists , people on the fringe. This is the essence of the community and if an iconic brand such as Grindr doesn’t get it, I sincerely hope it will collapse at some stage with a big bang: you’re killing your brand. Greed and corporatism has taken over the social importance that the app used to have. And the kids-like apps advertising staying stuck on your screen for minutes simply drive me nuts. The least Grindr could do would be to replace most of those ads by community projects. Social consciousness not greed … that would be a much more palatable agenda.

Grindr now won’t work on iPad. I went to download the lastest version of Grindr on my ipad. It’s says now Grindr will not work on my iPad as I have a older iOS My iPad has a 12 version iOS and won’t allow me to up date any more versions. I’m a regular subscribed paid Grindr user but now can not use Grindr. Can the lastest Grindr version be updated to work please with older iOS 12 please. Or can I use an older version of Grindr ,,, if so how do I load it onto iPad ?

Drug dealers and fake profiles. I have been using this app on and off for years. A once very good app is now morally questionable. Since returning to American ownership the scam hit ups have decreased but not vanished. Profiles are not monitored by the app owner. They rely on their customers to dob each other in. Even then the chance of an account being banned is at best 50/50. Therefore the app is rife with fake profiles, scam profiles, and DRUG DEALERS. Drug dealers are openly using the site as their shop front to sell illegal hardcore drugs. They are often openly stating they are selling drugs so any excuse the owner has for not taking action is questionable. The site is also a regular site used by scammers posing as masseuse or people hosting ‘parties’ with links to dodgey website that will hack your device. Finally, customer service is zero. If you pay a subscription, you WILL sooner or later have that account banned (I have TWICE had my account banned interestingly on both occasions just a week or so after buying a six month subscription). Getting a response from customer service is almost impossible, and an explanation as to why your account has been banned will never come (nor did my money for my six month subscription I never got). A once good app that I still do use - but with great caution. The owners of this app have to answer for their disregard of the flagrant use of their app for illegal purposes.

Tapping. I think the Tapping Function should be deleted on Grindr . Mostly sent by the people who tried to do dodgy to all member of grindr . They advertise being a masseurs. And created a fake location. And require to make a booking to reserve the time and date, to do that they asked you to provide credit card details and pay half amount of the service in advance . But the masseur is actually isn’t a real person . This is created by one person, but this co- founder send the advertisement about this massage service through to every member of grindr all around the world . He changed the face pic of masseur every day with different person face pic through “ The Tap function “ .But the map location is always the same address at the same hotel.

Needs work. The major issue I have with this app is the fact that it blocks all communications with potential singles, and when the app feels it’s the right time for you to communicate which may be 23 days time it will open the links. I will send a message and it will saythe last time you have chat was 23 days ago. And they are all equal every person that I chat to has the same amount of time. No messages back and they do not receive my messages due to the fact that this app has an issue meddling in who we can chat with when we can chat with. Needs work guys. I don’t really recommend this app because it is a like a circus one minute you can chat next minute you can’t you don’t know if they’re received a message or photos etc. I don’t like the app at all

Removing paid features. I subscribe to Xtra expressly because of the advanced filters. As of today my advanced age filter no longer allows filtering by less than a 4 year range. This is the second time that Grindr has removed or substantially restricted paid features from the app with no warning. Don't subscribe, the company that owns the app clearly has no respect for its paid users.

Not Refreshing?. I’ve deleted and redownloaded the app. My other apps work fine. Whenever I try to star or un-star a profile a red banner appears and then nothing happens. It’s very frustrating!

Used to be good. Grindr has become a money sucking machine. Trying to charge outrageous prices for an app that keeps crashing and cannot even save your messages. It really doesn’t feel like grindr wants you to meet other people. It feels like grindr wants to make money!

Going downhill. Seems like every time I’m forced to update grindr it gets worse. More ads, more intrusive ads, more restrictions to try and force you to pay insane prices for Grindr extra, more bots and fake accounts. I keep getting turned off the app more and more

Never update!. You know this is app sucks when every time they update it, you wonder what they removed this time and how did it make it even worse...

Now ads come up while I’m writing a message.. I understand you need ads. But while I’m in the middle of typing a message a pop up ad comes up and I just close the app. Not worth it, so many other apps like this

Ads. “Ads help keep grindr free” If true then why ask me to pay for premium service to access all your amazing features? If ads keep free shouldn't all features be free? Including the premium ones.

Crash, freeze, crash again. This app has been glitching now for 2 weeks. It’s annoying to use at this point even though I’m a paying xtra member…

Every update is more buggy. Straight up doesn’t even work anymore. Latest version is unusable.

Garbage. Works until you actually want it to, then it refuses to refresh for no reason whatsoever. This app doesn’t even come close to rewarding enough to put up with constant pics or being asked for pics. Avoid like the coronavirus.

Perte de temps. Le monde ne sont pas sérieux, c'est juste du gnaisage la plus part des profils sont des escortes qu'on retrouve dans les sites d'annonces

Buggy Chats. The chats have been bugging out for days now, what taking so long to fix it? You charge an arm and a leg for the service yet takes weeks to solve. Trash

Useless. 9 profiles until you pay?? No thanks. I’ll stay nothing before I feed you 30) per month

Doesn’t work. This app has way too many bugs. Often I open it and all the messages are just blank.

Avoid. If it weren’t full of bugs making daily use very annoying I would say this is a great app. However, it is full of bugs that never seem to be fixed or. Save your money and use one of the other apps out there that actually work.

FULL OF ESCORT REPORT APP TO APPLE. i’ve been using this app for many many years. If you were looking to meet transsexuals you’re wasting your time there is full of escorts on the platform and when I say full, I’m talking about like probably 95% why would I pay for a premium service to have to encounter with so many escortsreported them over and over again for just like you know asking for money for sexual services they get banned and they can make a new account so this is not fair to people that actually pay for the service right so if you’re trying to meet transsexuals or CD you’re truly wasting your time they all want money, and when I say all almost all of them, and this app should be reported to Apple because it’s full of escorts

Latest version = trash. Just revert back to the previous version, constantly glitching and losing messages. Idk who you have creating these new versions but try testing them out for longer than 5 minutes. Immediately after noticing the update last week, your app started crashing, not sending messages, lagging, not showing messages after they do finally send. Trash.

Really great app!. I’ve tried other apps like Tinder/POF but this one is by far the best experience I ever had! Within 24 hrs someone already came over for fun.. & came back for seconds a week later! Thank you for creating this!

Needs improvement. Can’t even see what I’m typing…this sit needs work…

Garbage App - Banned. After being user for five years, often on I decided to pay a full year subscription which expires March 2021, for no just cause a reason explain to me they just simply banned my account and my device. In order to reactivate I had to write a PhD explanation asking why I was banned. In the end there was no reply back from grindr, they have full control, you have no control. I wanted a credit but no credit was given. I hope grindr sinks into the abyss , along with his people.

Anti-union. They’re refusing to negotiate with the new union that their employees have signed under and have implemented a sudden return-to-office policy with orders to comply within two weeks. This is ableist, anti-parent, and just plain bad-faith tactics.

This application is bugged filled. This application has a bug in it where, when you try to view a profile it jumps to another. I have deleted cache, signed out and deleted the app and reinstalled several times, I am not a subscriber but wouldn’t even consider paying $300/ year for this given it performance and the lack of support

Worsening by the second. This app is full of spam bots, scam artists, (who I think pay the developer to let them on. Because how else can I see the same guy every week using porn stars pics), it drops messages, disapproves face picture, people cat fishing, and ads every time you click on a profile. So many escorts. No one is verified 90% are catfish’s

It so glitchy!. They said they were going to fix the bugs and it just made it worse. All messages are stuck on send notifies you three hours later that you got a message notifies you 10 times about the same message. It’s not when you send a message.

Amazing. This app is everything I’m lookin for thank you Grindr

Fix your app. I got banned for literally nothing. I haven’t been on the app for a week or two and now I can’t see any profiles..

intrusive advertising. auto plays adds that automatically open multiple apps and redirects. no option to opt out or close add before the redirect to advertiser’s app store

Eh yoo. Idk bro kinda sus

🚨. theres homosexuals on this app🚨

REPORT TO APPLE. You don’t even click on anything and you browser opens because of an AD coming from Grindr. This is so against Apple’s conduct that this app might be taken down soon, so keep up with you reports to apple guys. Enough of treating us as clowns with all those out of control ads that won’t stop opening.

Further Reducing option. Grindr continues to reduce quality for non paying users… further limits the use of filters. Cost is absurd

Spam. A lot of spammers to login to certain fake website and telling that it is safe because they don’t feel safe if you don’t register in that website and lot of fake sugar daddies to get your phone number or PayPal info If you received any thing like this block him there is no point to report the cycle continues..

Freezing!!. The app is messing up with my phone! You guys have so many ads that slow the motion of your app… and that sucks to be honest; it’s to heavy! Fix it

Men. I love the man

buggin. the apps been bugging a lot sends me the same notification like 10 times, and struggle to text

gay. pretty gay ngl

Very good app. Of course it’s gay, it’s the point. Very good to meet guy to 18+ of any kind. Not much ads

Full of spammers. Horrible! Abide by every rule. Never done anything except be nice. And get banned right after telling a ‘sugar daddy’ who wants to do some bitcoin favours that I reported him to crime stoppers. This app is full of human traffickers and spammers. You get reprimanded for standing up to both.

Banned for being MYSELF. Just a trans woman on this app... this app has no consideration for women like me . Since we all know men have sexuality complex issues— straight men come on this out of discretion and expect anyone to take care of there needs- I politely reject the ones I’m not into—- they can’t take rejection and boom, I get banned!!! I wrote to Grindr team explaining them these men are f_____ and it’s not my fault that I have a voice and standards etc, they do not unban me but rather ignore me... it’s obvious that this team rather put d__ first than humanity.... it’s too bed cause these men still back to their wives... they will never be Grindr teams bfs.. anyhow just overall disappointed.

Terrible. Literally so pathetic I’ve been banned for the stupidest things and when I tried to make an appeal nobody has gotten back to me. Terrible reporting system and customer service I see

harder to find people. it seems that with every update it gets harder to find people on here without running into a pay wall it’s very unfortunate that people have to pay to find members of their community

.. Kinda gay ngl

Don’t expect fair treatment from support.. Terrible support, full of demanding headless torsos, no concern for the safety of their users. I noticed that my app was taking me a website saying that my phone is hacked etc etc (it was not) I’d disregard and close the site, then after a month or so I get banned, nothing from support, I escalated and their answer was that due to privacy concerns the reason is private, then I was banned and that it was permanent. Nothing else.

Better off free, beware of spam. Glitchy app riddled with spam. Subscription way over priced for such a buggy app.

Still don’t download if you’re trans. Full of transphobic people who have sent me actual death threats and they did nothing about it. They let people threaten others with death and do nothing about it.

Stay away if you want to keep your sanity. This app very much feeds, thrives and amplifies all the worst of the gay and broader LGBT community. Unless you’re cis, skinny, muscular and white be prepared for constant ridicule, insults and vitriol being thrown at you in the most unprovoked ways. And if you’re black, trans or are a member of a minority group in general be prepared for constant objectification. The people on the app not only makes you feel bad if you aren’t in one of those groups they also go out of their way to waste your time. Most people on there have zero clue what they actually want or just thrive off of making you annoyed. Not to mention the people who start arguments with you for simply pointing out their hypocrisy. Frankly what makes this app even worse is that it is the only solid place to meet anyone in the community. The people who run it are fully aware of this so the incentive to want to change dynamics on the app is non-existent. This app is trash, will always be trash and the fact it is just now part of the gay community is very sad.

Filters. Grindr filters have stop working for a month a bit , please fix as it load me the same profiles that I’m trying to filter out

Stupid 3 year filter is back. You guys took this dumb 3 year filter off with the second last update and now after updating again within 5 days you’ve put it back. What is the point of this app if you just restrict all the features. Hate this app more and more. Stop penny-pinching people to spend hundreds a year on a chat app. So dumb.

Ads. The free version has abusive ads.

Account wrongfully banned, no customer service, BBB complaint filed. Account got banned just because I switched phones, and customer service only replies with template response. In addition to their crap buggy software, they also enjoy banning users for no actual reason and never following up on why they were banned or how to fix it. Please visit the subreddit r/Grindr on Reddit and feel free to browse through and see the same complaint over and over. Users stating they were banned, their confusion over why, and the lack of response from Grindr’s so-called “customer service”. Edit: you know what’s sickening? That the developer’s response is the only indication anyone on grindr’s team has actually read my complaint, unlike the INFINITE AMOUNT OF BAN APPEALS I’VE ALREADY SENT!!!!!!!

A basic review.. As an 18 year old, this app can be filtered by age, body type, and much more. Throughout my experience, this is not a dating app. I’ve had numerous accounts say they’d love to 🔩 me in my house, car, etc. I’ve had to delete my profile lots of times because of these issues. I’ve also had to move to Tinder because other guys are horny for younger guys. In extreme measures, I have had to involve the police due to a person that stalked me, threatened me and would do bodily harm towards me. I always feel like an object when I use the app. Just because of my body, face, and the clothing I wear. If the app had a verified badge by the name (like Tinder does), the app would be safer to know who you are meeting with. I also fear for my safety as the men on this app are really disgusting. As a person still trying to find my sexuality, this is not an app to download if you want to date. I’d highly recommend Tinder. Overall, not a dating app. It is unsafe. At least for me.

Worst Place You Want to Be. First of all, it’s beyond ridiculous and obnoxious that you can only use this app in portrait mode. I mean, come on folks, this should be an EASY thing to implement. Scruff does it. Second, there are more scammers and bots on here than an website or app than I’ve ever seen, which is saying a lot. Some are more sophisticated, but I can spot most of them pretty quickly, now that I’m expecting them. You can’t tell me that they can’t filter more of those. For goodness sake, don’t agree to send anybody money, even if you think they’re local. One major red flag to start looking for scammers is whether they have their location hidden. Some legitimate guys block it, but it’s a good reason to be on your guard. Again, I get nearly ZERO scammers and bots on Scruff. Finally, the subscription cost is MUCH more than it’s worth. I understand they need to make money and it costs to maintain, etc. But when they are putting ZERO effort to squelch scammers and bots. I will be canceling my subscription when it renews. *** If they lower the price by at least a third (for every billing frequency), even if it’s just a sale/special rate, I would gladly subscribe again. ***

Xtra users keep getting less. I’m giving Grindr one star because their updates continue to pull away some of the basic features of xtra that even make it worth paying for the app to push you to their much more expensive unlimited subscription. The greed is apparent. Originally you could see who viewed you. Then they hid all but the three most recent, now they took away the ability to even view that. When sending my feedback, they claim some of that was “just beta” and now it’s not available. As an xtra subscriber, it’s not worth it anymore. If they want to keep taking things away just remove the xtra option, drop the monthly unlimited cost and only have that. I’m just about to switch to another app. Grindr acts like they are the only app out there. They don’t care about our feedback, just our wallets and the opinions of their shareholders now that they are publicly traded.

Get paid version or uninstall. It’s just as useful as Grindr has always been, but now it’s just not worth how many ads one has to deal with to use the app. When I log in, I can look at one thing before I get an ad... NEWS FLASH: this app is meant to be used by checking in often. If I am just opening the app to check the area around me quickly, why would I be okay with having to watch a Candy Crush ad for any amount of time? Banner ads and these extremely numerous pop-ups are not the end of it. The user gets notification that someone sent you a message? No— there’s an ad in your inbox. Or two. Or three sometimes. Literally sometimes I have three unread messages in my inbox, I get so excited, and then I open the app and it’s three ads. PLUS if I want to delete any of those “messages” it might trigger a pop-up ad. Honestly the app just pisses me off when it forces me to watch an ad in the first five seconds of opening the app. Usually it puts me off to where I won’t open the app again for a while. Sometimes I have messages built up for days because the ads only let me read one message at a time. My advice, it’s only worth it if you pay for it these days. What’s happened to you, Grindr? Are you guys not making enough money?

App has bugs. Been using this app to meet up for years. Have had several memorable experiences and it was a life saver during the height of the pandemic. However lately I’ve been having problems with bugs on the app that make it to where I’ve had to delete and reinstall just to keep it working properly. One particular problem is people that I have blocked were still able to message and view me afterwards. Some people I have to block two or three times until it finally works. It’s also doing to where I get two back to back push notifications for the same message or tap. Otherwise, it’s a fun app if you can avoid all of the drug users and sketchy people on there.

Grindr is… well. Grindr.. Grindr is a mess. Sure, it may make meeting other guys easily accessible. Although the pure fact that Grindr subliminally markets itself as way to get intimate with strangers while still claiming it’s for ‘gay dating’ is disappointing. What’s more sad is, most men let how they meet someone, and the platform they connected on, dictate that entire friendship/relationship moving forward. There’s so many double standards on the platform, which makes it harder to connect and create meaningful connections with people. Also, it makes my iPhone 13 Pro Max feel like the surface of the sun, only with a few minutes of usage. Causes the display to Dim to a brightness I can barely even read. When you force reset your device as well, it causes the application to crash upon each attempt to launch the app. There’s still no fix for this.

BANNED FOR NO REASON. I went on my account today and saw that I was banned. I couldn't believe it and then I came into the App Store to write a review on this and saw other people are having the same problems. I did send a form for you to review my account and I hope you will do so, and do so quickly. Believe me, I am a paying member, I've been with Grindr for many years, and I can't believe I have been banned for no reason whatsoever, and I checked off all of the guidelines after reading them thoroughly. I don't know if there is a glitch in your system at this point in time, but I also just recently renewed my membership like one of the other members who commented that they were banned After doing so. I like Grindr, I hope that I can get you to understand that I did nothing wrong and get my account back. I am not interested in writing a bad review on your company as of yet because I think this is an error. Thank you so I hope you will look at my feedback in a positive way. Robert . Clear cache.

Poor App Function. The one thing grindr has going for it is it’s ubiquity, it is the app with the largest user base and they know it. I can ignore the ads, overpriced subscription, and poor app management but the app has become largely unusable in the last few months. I have encountered a bug that crashes my phone and prevents the app from rebooting unless it is reinstalled from the App Store. This wouldn’t be a anything more than a hassle but every time it happens, I lose any chats I haven’t backed up to the iCloud. Entire conversations gone, embarrassing questions about who I’ve been chatting with, general frustration every time it happens. When I reached out to support they just said they are aware of the issue. This has been happening for several months now (at least since April for me) and there has been no attempts to remedy this bug. Any newcomers be sure to obsessively back up your chats and be aware that this could happen and they don’t seem to care.

App shuts down phone and then can’t access. I am very new to Grindr and since adding the app, the app shut off my phone a random. And then when the phone finishes rebooting, I have had to delete the app and upload again since t won’t reopen once it has rebooted my phone. This happens very often with this app and it’s very frustrating especially knowing I’ve paid fr a service that is very unstable and because I have to delete the app and reload it, I lose all my messages to people that I’ve written. I have it set to auto backup once a day but it never makes it to that backup time and there is no way I’m going to backup after every single message. I get it that this could happen once in a while but not multiple times each day.

Continues to crash on load and needed reinstalled over and over. This app is the most buggy app I’ve used - or that I would like to use yet can’t because it just crashes trying to launch. So support says “reinstall” and I do. This will be the 13th time since the summer. You lose everything because the “backup” feature doesn’t work either. So you lose any connections, messages, everything. Yet the notifications keep coming even though I can’t launch the app at all anymore. Many of us pay a solid amount of money to this app over the years and its consistently unusable. Should get no stars as it won’t work reliably. Apple needs to investigate apps that charge a lot and never reliably work. Refund? They laugh at you and say “just reinstall”. Well having to do that every other week is ridiculous. Apple needs to act and force this app to either fix it s problems or refund its users.

Money stealing fraudsters.... TLDR: This app is 2 stars for a reason. Spam bots EVERYWHERE that message you multiple times a day. Huge, annoying, intrusive ads that make the app virtually useless. And customer service that will defraud you out of money. So I bought a year subscription but for some reason keep seeing ads in the app. Contacted support. I have sent them copies of my receipts. They keep asking me to click links that spawn the iTunes Store but then do nothing. The support representatives are condescending and frankly useless. They’ll promise to fix the issue, then never reply, and when you reopen the ticket you get a canned reply telling you to hit “Restore Purchases”. The only reason that Grindr is still operating is their scamming of people out of money for a subscription they’ll never get. DO NOT give these con artists money. You’ll end up having to fight Apple to get anything back.

Horrible. As soon as my xtra membership expired, they banned my device and now I can’t log into my account or make a new one unless I get a new phone. This app has gone down the toilet hardcore in the last two years. Update: To Grindr!! I have already submitted several ban appeals. Your “customer service” center replied saying they can’t tell me why I was banned, and the decision is final and will not be reviewed again. I’ve since tried and have gotten ZERO response. If you are going to ban someone, at LEAST tell them what rule or guideline they’ve broken, and give them a chance to redeem. There is SO MUCH trash on this app, and here you are banning people who break no rules, and giving them no reason as to why. It seems rather coincidental that this happened immediately after my paid subscription expired and was not renewed…… money making scheme? If you wanna make it better, unban my account. That’ll change my review

Please introduce landscape mode to the iPadOS version.. I love your app. It has led me to many hot times. However, I now have a 12.9” iPad Pro that I use with Apple’s Magic Keyboard. I love using my iPad like this. Unfortunately when entering your app, it forces the screen into portrait mode. And I no longer have the ability to use the iPad and keyboard the way they were meant to be used. It seems Apple is offering some version of the Magic Keyboard for all of the new iPad versions that are coming out, from entry level to Pro. I have a feeling a lot of other iPadOS users are frustrated by this small detail as well. I’ll also leave feedback in developer contact area. Thank you for your development. I really enjoy this app.

Suspend my account without no explenation no reason. This app discriminated agains people. Many people in here just block people, say bad stuff, capture your nude pictures to show around the world and grindr don’t do nothing or report them. I have been almost all my life with this app trying to find a match and nothing because I don’t fit in the gay world. One day I was talking to a guy wish I though could be potential match and sudendly I was suspended. I thought at first it was a joke, but no it wasen’t. I thought many things including since that time I didn’t pay the membership because really paying and not even a match, whats the point. I contact them and at final they just told me that apperently I violated a policy of grindr. Try to ask why?, but for them was confidential and they just keep forward to suspend my account. Heartbroken…Almost all my life using it and really disapoint it on this app. Maybe this is just a sign for just stop using apps and try another type of method to know people. Definetly low rate.

Banned after blackmailed. One of the worst customer support. I was blackmailed by someone on the app. They managed to find my social media, work place and family, and threatened to send inappropriate pictures and chat, if I don’t comply with their financial requests. When I tried to report it to Grindr, the person had already blocked me on the app and I only had the screenshot of what they used to blackmail via texts. Grindr didn’t do any due diligence to catch that person, instead I was banned for absolutely no reason and even my yearly subscription wasn’t refunded. There’s no way to communicate with a real person from Grindr, and most likely they saw my profile on all supporting documents I uploaded and thought it’s me the perpetrator. It maybe a fun app to use for a while, but know that if you fall a victim of any sort of scam fraud blackmail etc there’s ZERO support to catch the person or obtain evidence. Very outrageous!

Intrusive ads. I am fully aware of Grindr needing ads to remain free unfortunately these ads are very intrusive and glitch constantly. It’s almost like the “X” at the top right corner or the close ad buttons are just there for show. You can’t close the ad at all most of the time. I usually have to force close the app to get the ad to go away. Just opening a message or checking who viewed me initiates this ad that literally will not go away unless I close the app! Is that good for you guys? Ads that literally force the consumer to close the app? It can’t be! A lot of times I’m so discouraged by all the ads I don’t even come back after force closing. Again I am fully aware grindr needs ads to remain free but please do better Grindr. I’ve had this app for more than 10+ years and I have never been so tempted to uninstall and try other apps than I am now.

Security risk caused ban. This apps support and security are abysmal. My profile was hacked by their lack of security allowing someone to reset my password. Support simply banned me after I was hacked and was no help in me recovering profile and they didn’t even believe that I was hacked until weeks of emails. They just said I know it was you. I lost that account snd had to make a new one but they did not delete the hacked profile. This app is full of scam artists snd drug dealers they do nothing about. The scams are run by the support staff themselves. That’s how they never get banned. My new account was banned for absolutely nothing. I’ve sent three emails which they’ve ignored and filled out the form in support to have ban lifted but all they did was resend a link for me to fill out the same form. So obviously support is just AI software and not a real human. I read online that Grindr net profit from New York City alone is enough to keep the company afloat so obviously why should they care about quality control and keeping customers happy.

App gone downhill. I was a member and used to enjoy this app. But there are loop holes in it that people use to get you banned out if rejection or jealousy. Moderations is a joke and do nothing. You can pay 140 bucks. A week later, Some one can click on “ report this profile ” and the app automatically sends you a warning. It can be about your normal pic or profile. After a number of warning, you can then be banned and not get a penny back. Or a person can report you, upload a picture of a child and say you sent it and they will not even ask you about it, they will just ban you. When you try to inquire about it they give a genetic response that you broke the rules. And the money you paid a week ago? Gone. I have not been banned but I don’t have a pic or trade pics. But I have a few good looking friends who lost their membership in the ways I explained above. Use the app if you want but don’t give them a dime.

Gone down the toilet…. My biggest gripe with the app is using it on public WiFi networks. It either can’t connect, doesn’t send messages, or doesn’t load messages, like 95% of the time. Granted I’m aware network admins can block certain apps, developers at Grindr should be making ways to bypass these things a priority if not only to keep users using the app….. the other extremely big issue is the double ads that crash the app, or redirect me to the App Store without any opting out or ignore option at all. Essentially your ads hijack and potentially redirect my device to unknown and potentially hazardous locations on the web that I don’t necessarily want it to go to. Not to mention the. Vulnerabilities that are exposed when this is executed. I’ll change my star rating when the developers address and correct the poor money driven “features” and give the experience back to the consumer where it belongs.

Boost me! SCAM. So the app keeps pushing for you to buy additionally to your membership a thing called BOOST ME. It’s $9.99 for only an HOUR where they make your profile available to everyone. I’ve used it and notice the large amount of messages I received from people in the area. However, this made me think a bit. Are they limiting the amount of profiles that can see our profile on a daily basis. I’ve had issues with messages not coming through on the chat, but I see them come in through the notifications. Grindr is testing things around but I think they are just testing how to get more money out of the subscribers that already pay a membership.

Is good app. Honestly great app, I been using it since November of 2022 and so far I like it… but throughout the months I have experience a couple of things I don’t like and want to see if is possible to change.. I been catfish like 3 times and it will be cool to add a face verification and put like a check on user name as a verification.. now I don’t like the way the policy works with the uploading pics… I see people having inappropriate drawing and showing off and not get their pic deleted but I get my pics deleted because I upload a pic of q conversation I had with a person… I think is not fair and if is coming to delete I think need to delete everything… face verification will be cool… please make it like u can submit a pic through app and verify instead of obligating to upload a face pic.

Don’t waste your time. I know that sometimes as individuals we might feel alone;however, I do believe that we can do so much better than this. The LGBTQ+ Community has floated in this mindset that we are all promiscuous and we cannot keep it in our pants. Nonetheless, I invite you all to prove the people who say those comments that they are wrong. I’m not here to attack this application, more importantly I’m here to let you know that there’s a world out there full of opportunities and possibilities, and we should all be pursuing love, happiness, and self-actualization in more productive, and safer ways. If you want to download this app, go ahead because nobody has the right to tell you what to do and what not; but, I think a good advice is appreciated once in a while. My advice to you all is: BE HAPPY, you are all extraordinary human beings, and you deserve all the love and goods in the world. Have faith, keep moving forward, and never give up.

Bad verification cannot get account back. I signed up for Grindr under the unlimited membership and mistyped my email address. Since Grindr does phone verification and also does not send a welcome email, instead of verifying email address and then phone, I was never aware of my mistake. Now I am locked out of my account and I have sent them my photo I’d and my profile pictures and they are not able to restore my account to me after 3 support tickets. I will be talking to the attorney general. I sent in my pictures and my drivers license and they say I can’t have my account unless I know the email address. Why can’t you use the phone that I verified it with. If you can’t give me my account with my own pictures then what hope is there. I called the company and left a detailed message. The system is flawed for sure. It needs to verify your email and your phone instead of just phone. If you sign up make sure you type in and screenshot it what email address you used otherwise if you lose it you are likely screwed.

Could be Great. Not a bad app overall but they NEED to fix the bugs. Chat notifications are a disaster, pictures on both sides randomly vanish from chat and from your pictures section (Im not referring album feature, that seems to work fine). Finally, please bring back the ethnicity filter. Cluttering up users screens with people they would never be interested in is not going to fix the worlds problems, it’s a silly corporate PR move. Also depending on where you live not having that filter makes it harder for people in the minority to find or be found. For example a friend of mine who is black was the first to complain to me about this because now due to a lack of a filter people who’d otherwise easily find him can’t now because his profile is lost in the ocean of other profiles.

Bad app, even worse customer service.. I was recently banned without being given a reason when I contacted customer support. Not only was my profile banned but both devices I used to login were both banned in their system as well, so I can’t create a new profile even if I wanted to. I know for a fact I didn’t do anything that warranted a device ban. I’ve seen a lot of other trans people mention being banned for no reason other than for being trans and it really sickens me to think that a business like grindr, which is supposed to be inclusive to the LGBTQ community is being prejudiced against some of their customers. Who are these employees that are banning these profiles? Also, I contacted customer support multiple times and didn’t even get a response until a month and a half later. At least they apologized for that part. There seems to be no accountability or answers for unwarranted bans from their employees. I will be contacting the Better Business bureau.

Glitchy, Buggy Trash. So, like, nevermind that the app can barely function BEFORE an ad pops up and crashes the whole thing, because that’s just the piss-poor coding Grindr’s always been known for. They’ve never gotten better about that, and I don’t imagine they will. Can live and let live there. But can we talk about the filters, please? The useful ones being hidden behind paywalls isn’t exactly new for these types of apps, but here’s the things that make it so much worse with Grindr: 1) All those blank, faceless profiles from creepers and cheating husbands and such and thus? Gotta pay to filter those out. And 2) there’s only so many profiles it’ll let you scroll through before, you guessed it, another paywall blocks you from viewing or hitting up more people. And if you live in the middle of nowhere, odds say most of the free profiles you’re allowed to view are the faceless ones. “aDs KeEp GrInDr FrEe” Cool, but where’s that money going? Could you put some into making this app decent, please?

Server or app issues. I can see that the introduction of new features are good in theory. They seem like useful or good things to add! The problem lies that so often the updates reverse changes and the UI. Don’t have focus groups live in production. Now the real issue with the current version is that the grid itself is glitchy when scrolling up; it will flicker through different areas of profiles. Only force-closing app will temporarily remedy. Seems multiple bugs in the app. Server-side, the distance tracking doesn’t always update after pulling to refresh. Earlier last week it wasn’t even able to load Nearby. Having paid for Xtra makes me annoyed that they’ll have continuous issues and I haven’t seen an app update to try to remedy some of these things.

Profile Photo Upload Time??. Anyone else experience approval times that are longer than usual? I emailed support and the response was somewhat indirect and didn’t provide any explanation as to why it would take longer than the expected 20-45 minutes, just that sometimes it does. Well this happened EVERY time with my profile and I’d say it’s happened over the course of the last year or so and with at least 3 different profiles. My app is up to date and my iOS is as well, but support didn’t tell em why it sometimes takes longer. I typically wait at least 2-3 hours.. is the norm? Any specific reasons why? It was like pulling teeth just to get my question reiterated in the end, and then you have to be careful because support tends to be so temperamental at times.

New Update Destroyed the App. I’ve been using Grindr heavily for several years. Honestly, it’s not too bad. The premium services are waaaayyy overpriced though. But the free version is pretty good. The only real issue I’ve had with the app is the constant ads. It’s hard to do anything because the majority of the time your screen is covered with an unskipable ad. Sometimes you can’t ever close them, and have to restart the app, only to be immediately greeted by… another ad! However, this new update is something else. They changed the profile hud, and now it’s almost impossible to full screen a photo. And if you tap through their photos one too many times, it now will move you to the next profile. Very frustrating. But the real killer is whatever bitcoin mining crap or whatever it is they did behind the scenes. The app is now almost unfunctional. It will crash two or three times every time you use it, and might take 2 or 3 minutes just to load a new chat. It got so unbearable that I couldn’t even open the app, so I had to redownload it and lost all my recent chats with 20 unopened messages. And now, as a fresh new app on my phone, it’s still having the same issues. And I’m not the only one, most of my friends are having the exact same issues… It has literally become unusable…

Major Bug in need of Fixing. I have uninstalled and reinstalled grindr once, sometimes twice or three times a day every day for a multiple weeks. Sometimes I give up for a few days, other times I’m having a great convo and keep coming back. The problem is this… Grindr will randomly cause my phone to restart, at first I thought it was related to how many preference filters I had at once, when I reduced them nothing changed. When I turned them all off nothing changed. Once my phone restarts I’ll try to open grindr and it will shut down before the app loads. I’ve tried restarting my phone rather than reinstalling, but that doesn’t work either. Once I reinstall I’ve lost all my messages, all my photos, everything except my profile pic and info is just gone. This can be upsetting for obvious reasons, but I think the worst is that I have previously paid for a 3 month subscription which was cancelled after 1 day because of this glitch. I have not received a refund nor have I received the service I paid for. So 3 months worth of money just down the drain? For a few hours of usage? At this point I’ve given up. This app is useless, overall a terrible user experience, if you have the money to actually enjoy the apps features you’ll just lose it due to glitches and bugs. Highly recommend avoiding this app at all costs.

Controversial.. Hello. Unfortunately a company and people that work for this company with their own rules are suppose to represent LGBTQA+ community, but that’s not what it happens. There are so many people who are harmed by Grindr and as a proof of it, just look at their own experiences on their reviews here. As for example: Grindr “Bans” users and only admits that they violated the “Policies” of the company, but doesn’t explain which of what violation occurred - by the way they change their policies all the time; Also, Grindr removes certain people’s photos from their profiles after it has been approved and posted for a long time and explains as inappropriate but there are many other profiles with “Nasty Nudes” even though they have been reported multiple times and for a long time but nothing happens. These are just a few of the many injustice how the company treats users, we definitely can’t find equality here. The support is awful and irresponsible, the support is incomplete and we all know, even for those who pay for the services. I’m sure that they might seem to reply to this review but only with excuses and fake words, but the real action that are needed to do better, that we can’t see from Grind… No wonder about the many Lawsuits that they have!!! Thank you.

Unbelievably annoying ads worst ads ever. I’ve used Grindr for years at this point. One of the most frustrating aspects of this app is its advertisements. The latest addition to their ad campaign is particularly irritating. The ad now appears in the same location as the conversation-starter buttons that have remained unchanged since the app's inception. Unfortunately, the ad shifts upward a few seconds after the app opens, making it easy to accidentally click on it. This wouldn't be such a terrible problem except mthat clicking on the ad takes you out of the app and into a browser. From the browser, you are redirected to the App Store to download an app you may not want or already have. This endless cycle of repetitive and unappealing ads is incredibly irritating, and I'm fed up with it. Paying $10 a month just to remove ads for the first tier of this app seems like a ridiculous price. There are no other benefits to justify it.

False ads. Grindr uses ads to keep the app free. But what nobody has brought up is that these ads make you click them and interact. With you clicking on that screen on those ads you are pressing a yes button to all sorts of other things behind the scenes. After doing so you’ll start to get texts from random numbers that are down right disgusting with links to pages that are just as bad. These ads need to be checked by Apple and I think with a full investigation. These links are to steal even more information and I know for a fact that Grindr is the ONLY way I’d be getting text and calls like these. Awful. Btw they don’t stop even if you block the numbers. Grindr is terrible at keeping up with bans and will also ban you permanently without any warnings or really looking into the problem with the users. Over all terrible app. I wish a company would buy it and take it over. Also this is all coming from a daily user so please take it as you will.

Count Your Days Grindr!!!!!. Ive used grindr for YEARS recently u guys and this guideline to ban profiles and devices ip addresses so u cant make another profile half of your money comes from people that u ultimately bann which is so confusing to me i paid a 40 subscription and got banned so i tried a second time on another device and paid 40 AGAIN and got banned had to order a new card and everything because u guys kept taking money even tho u banned me from your platform, which I contributed too, i use the boost atleast 2xs a day juss as i do on jackd and they would never treat theyre users this way, i spend money with u guys and everything im sure u wont have any users or cripple your own app by the way your moving with loyal customers cant wait to see where this app is in the next 2years because ur literally clearing out your users and the good ones at that. wont be anyone to meet after a while!!!!

Terrible app DO NOT PURCHASE GRINDR EXTRA/UNLIMITED. I rarely come on this app because it’s so awful already. Came back on recently and met some decent guys. Decided to get Grindr extra to increase my chances . A few days later I get banned for no reason and I’ve never once been in trouble or Warned on this app before. They never gave any sort of reason either just banned me. They ask for my subscription, email, phone number, and other information I sent to them. They replied back saying “it wasn’t enough information to validate I was The owner” which doesn’t make any sense. And now they’ve completely stopped replying to me. I’ve never dealt with such an idiotic support team before. I pay money and they decide to ban me and ignore me. I’ve seen other people have the same issue when they buy Grindr extra/unlimited. Do not trust buying it’s not worth it to get randomly banned. The whole reason in a ban appeal is to find out why I got banned not get ignored for trying to figure it out.

Mistakenly Blocked… and still blocked.. It’s been WEEKS since I’ve been able to access my account. Here’s the story - a creep contacted me on the app. He pretended to know all my information - where I live, my name, etc. etc. I politely informed him that he had the wrong person. He continued. I nicely told him that I wasn’t interested and to please stop contacting me - he continued, and continued. The right thing to do was to report him to Grindr Support. This is a situation where someone made me feel unsafe. Unfortunately, Grindr mistakenly blocked my account - which they’ve admitted to after I followed all the proper channels by submitting MULTIPLE “Appeals” and confirming my email address with them many times. But guess what? I’m still locked out of my account.?!! What have I learned? There are some bad people on Grindr, but unfortunately, doing the right thing / trying to help others can get you kicked off the app. No bueno.

Lack of service. So I am banned forever, I wasn’t told why I was banned, I wasn’t given a timeframe of the ban, I wasn’t given a warning of the ban, I was just banned. I reached to try and figure out the variables mentioned above but was shut down and now I am without solutions, and without anyone to discuss the issue with. I absolutely hate the world we live in and the way people are treated. Just because an app has monopolized the connection of LGBTQ+ individuals in everywhere but the largest cities should not give them a right to shut people out of a community, without notice, without reason, and with out support on the issue. If you want to ban people please explain to them why. Grindr plays judge, jury, and executioner to their users yet does not want to explain their decision. Please reconsider these policies I’d love to have conversation on the matter but Grindr will not, has not, and refuses to defend their choices.

Intrusive Advertising. Advertising to keep an app subscription free is understandable, however Grindr takes advertising to the next level. Grindr harasses its free members to get a paid subscription by bombarding them with ads in the midst of replying or viewing a message. I’m convinced that the ads are not meant to be relevant to most end users, but rather to annoy them into a paid subscription. The other thing that Grindr does to its unpaid members that it does not do to its paid members, is that it purposely limits the amount of people you can view who are online and in your proximity and rather shows you people who are offline and further away. The latest app update also brought with it a glitch that shows users to be within a few thousand feet from you when in reality they are a few miles away. I’m not an IT person, however I wonder if those issues are related.

This is just terrible. I won’t lie, I get tired of the people on this app every once in a while and delete it before inevitably coming back because I have no other way to meet people. But this app is getting worse and worse as they find new ways to FORCE you to pay for it. If you use the filters feature it trims down the amount of people that are there, but it also doesn’t give you access to the people the would be in the “extra” tier sub, when I left if you used the filter those people would come up as your preferences change. Not now though, now if you put what you’re looking for you could be left with as little as 12 people to interact with, most of which are people that have sent unsolicited **** pics in the past and I have no interest in. So thank you Grindr, for taking your tolerable app and making it complete garbage.

Confused or I misunderstood. Nothing terrible to say regarding the app and its mission. It’s more of a technical issue and I may just not be understanding how to proceed with accessing my account and profile after the good folks at Grindr graciously reviewed and subsequently lifted or reversed my initial ban from the app. I sent a follow up message to the support area regarding my inability to access my account and profile after this decision was made and unfortunately I did not receive a response back. That was several weeks ago if not more and I just wanted to know how I should proceed going further as I don’t want to do anything wrong using the privilege of having a profile. I am leaving the matter alone as I don’t want to appear to be a pest or bother anyone as I’m sure everyone at Grindr has more important work to do. Thank You to Grindr for the years I was allowed to utilize the app. Be well!...Steven

It’s Okay. It’s an okay app, the safety on it is a bit iffy and although the app IS inclusive of all LGBTQ+ members, my partner (transman) and I (non-binary) face quite a bit of rude and overall transphobic messages. They block us before we can fully report and I’ve only been able to successfully report one person who was EXTREMELY transphobic towards my partner and I. I’m 100% positive he has done it to MANY other trans/non-binary people on here as well. We never knew if the account got banned or terminated and I would love if they add a feature to where they update you about the situation. It would be super helpful. I overall do enjoy the app but I definitely think it needs some fixes such as I said above. I’ve gotten a few occasional creeps and had some scares where someone has said he’d come find me. But I don’t really think that’s the app/creators faults. Otherwise, it’s an okay app! Just needs some fixes! :)

Non-Functional App. I have completely given up on this app. For some reason, it only works properly when connected to wi-fi. Profiles refuse to load and I cannot refresh or even seem to establish a connection when outside a dedicated wifi network. I have tried to troubleshoot based on Grindr’s official Help documentation and various online forums with no luck. I have restarted my phone, uninstalled and reinstalled the app, and even deleted my account and started a new one but nothing has worked. From what I’ve seen online, this seems to be a persistent issue which Grindr has failed to acknowledge let alone fix. It’s frustrating that an app designed for dates and hookups is so buggy. With some many other options, I have decided to delete Grindr and try other applications. I can only speak to my experience but I feel that Grindr does not live up to the hype and provides very poor customer support.

Title: A Decade of Loyalty Met with Kafkaesque Banishment. After over a decade of using Grindr, I find myself unceremoniously banned without any clear reason. The banishment came out of nowhere and, when I reached out to customer support, I was met with frustratingly vague responses. They cited “privacy and safety” as reasons for not revealing why my account was closed, offering zero transparency. It’s a Kafkaesque nightmare where you’re guilty until proven innocent, except they don’t even tell you what you’re accused of. Additionally, their customer support is not only slow to respond but also lacks the clarity and efficiency one would expect from a service that’s been around this long. It’s disheartening to see a company you’ve supported for years treat you like an expendable commodity. Do yourself a favor: consider the implications of investing time, emotional energy, and even money into an app that can cast you aside without a second thought or a shred of explanation. I’d think twice before engaging with a platform that has so little regard for its user base.

Buggy and slow. Since I’ve been on the app, it’s pretty much always had issues but nothing I’ve ever felt the need to write a review for. I’m using the app on latest iPhone and iOS. My phone starts to get very slow and has huge delays in responses whenever I go to type a message. It’ll freeze halfway through, still picking up input, but doesn’t show on the screen. After that starts happening, everything in the app starts to get very slow: scrolling etc. I’ll try to swipe to my home screen or swipe to close the app and even that gets very slow to the point where my phone will lock more than 5 seconds after I press the lock button. I felt the need to explain because the experience in the app needs work and it shouldn’t carry outside of the app and into my phones user face.

Stable app, but some hurdles to being useful. Until the app can help you manage preventing faceless individuals reaching out the app, its a barrage of torsos where you ask for a pic anyway and drains your time. (I understand different cultures that may be dangerous, but in a urban center in the US it’s less so). I regret paying for this for a year, just so That now i can receive 25+ messages a day with 20 of them being faceless. I’ve met some great people off the app, but it’s lost it’s efficiency unless you just don’t care about a person’s face. Another annoyance is that anyone can tap and it creates a badge. I am for inbox zero, so I would like to differentiate between a message that could include photos, and a low effort tap where the profile could be blank or still like her face. It’s incentivizing people who Spam out their efforts, as opposed to individuals who I’m more likely to want to meet up with.

If you’re college-age, prepare to get banned!!. If you’re college-age and/or young-looking, do not get this app!!! I had this app for two weeks, more or less. Everything was going great. Then suddenly, 3 days ago, my account was banned. No warning. No given reason either. Although my theory is some jerk thought I was under 18 (I’m 19, mind you!) and reported me, and the moderator who reviewed my account also just assumed I was a minor too without asking for any kind of verification. I’ve filled out 3 ban appeal requests; the ONLY way I can reach out to them about this, by the way. No response to any of them. Not even a “sorry for the delay, we’re busy right now.” I know they‘ve had a glaring underage-user problem for a while now, but if this is how they go about it – banning people they ASSUME are under 18 – they’re doomed. I don’t even know if that’s why they banned me, but I assure you I was literally doing NOTHING against their terms of service, so this is all I can think of. If you’re young or young-looking, STAY AWAY!

Stop Homophobia and Hatre towards Fems. This app has truly made me realize how much Masculine Men really hate Feminine Men/transpeople. These men are truly abusive and eager to hurt you and disrespect you, particularly in NYC. So many men in NYC truly don’t accept that they’re gay and will threaten your life if you ask to be treated like a human being. Decency is not even an option. It doesn’t matter what your kinks are or how freaky you are, but they are quick to shame you or just believe that you deserve to be dehumanized especially as a fem boy. This app could make people suicidal, so you have to be really strong as a feminine boy if you have even an atom of self respect. This world really HATES feminine men, and wow…homophobic Gay Masc Men are honestly everywhere. Gay DL men are all around you, spewing their toxicity around full of self hate. I wonder if a feminine gay boy that isn’t vanilla would be able to find a date without someone LITERALLY threatening to beat them to death while they are heading there.

Grindr Gods continue to ruin app. Instead of focusing on real improvements to the app like ridding spam bots once and for all, the Grindr gods continue to screw around with features like tags and age search functions. Instead of allowing their users choice in how they search for compatible matches the Grindr Gods continue to make things harder on their customers. Focusing solely on the issue of age searches, Grindr Gods have decided that no one will be permitted to search narrowly for users by age ranges any less than four years. The claim according to their customer service agents is that by setting it up that way it allows users to search more broadly for compatible matches. This of course is false because those who have free accounts (who are already limited to _ # of accounts that appear), are now further limited. If someone aged 19 wanted to find other 19 year olds in their area, they are now restricted from doing so and now can only search within a range up to 23. Likewise, a 35 year old seeking other 35 years olds must now default up to 39. Again, the Grindr Gods claim you get an expanded pool. Actually, the opposite is true because filtering by one year at a time could allow you to truly find more people, even if it at the cost of geographic proximity. Grindr needs to restore choice to its customers/users instead of telling us what they think is best for us.

Horrible app that does not listen to its users. I got banned a while back for no reason, I just woke up one morning and it had the “you are banned from Grindr” screen. I know the rules and I haven’t broken a single one, so I have no clue what this could possibly be about. The only thing I can think of for this random ban is that maybe a lot of people reported me because they are upset that I did not text back??? I have no clue, I did get quite a bit of messages and maybe people got mad that I wasn’t responding to most of their unsolicited d pics and “hey” messages. But, even if I did do something wrong, why would grindr not tell you? Or give you a warning? You are only left with the knowledge that you broke their rules but they do not specify which ones. I tried to appeal but they purposefully made that process complicated and they have not yet got back to me after making that appeal. They will ban you out of nowhere and never tell you what you did wrong, it’s just a matter of when tbh.
