This app used to be great before. Unfortunately, not anymore.
This used to be the best. Find myself using Instapaper more and more these days.
Nothing to say.
Used to love this app but now, when you save a page to Pocket, the article is cut off 1-2 paragraphs in. Unless you want to save a VERY short article, best to find a different app that will save the ENTIRE article that you want to save. Nothing more annoying than saving a recipe to Pocket, only to find that Pocket only saved part of the ingredient list and zero instructions on how to cook your food. Time to dump Pocket and find an app that works well!!!
This app was an early innovator in the field, but it is showing its age. The built-in reader mode is more effective and works on more sites than the one used in this app. Competitor apps offer highlighting features not available in Pocket. And long requested features like the ability to see articles that one started to read but never finished have been ignored. I still use Pocket, but it feels more and more like a big box I shove things into rather than a genuinely useful tool for handling information overload.
If I lock/sleep my iPad while reading, Pocket loses my place and starts back at the top of the article when I wake my iPad. Very annoying to lose my place in the middle of a 3000 word article. This worked fine prior to v6.6.0 so I don't know why they can't fix this after so many updates.
Offline content downloaded to a device is not included in iTunes or iCloud backups. Think about that for a second and you’ll realize that any claims to support offline reading are, in any practical sense, false. Pocket has known this for years and done nothing about it (in fact the issue seems not to have occurred to them). Look elsewhere for a usable offline reader. The developer’s absurd response (below) only highlights their failure to comprehend how their product is used. I’ve been reporting this issue patiently for years, but nothing has been done or even, it seems, even understood.
I absolutely love having a way to save valuable articles and other links. Sometimes it’s to keep forever but sometimes it’s to remind myself to read later when I don’t have the time. I have used it for so long that I forget about what other things I’ve saved. It would be used more regularly to pass the time if I had the option to have a random generator so I can find old things I loved but forgot about since I save so many articles. Would love to stumble through old saves.
I really don’t get why it has only 3.5 average rating, but it’s my fave app. It’s able to save almost every article, from almost any source and without it I probably wouldn’t read half as much as I do.
13 Nov 2017 Update, Pocket staff responded! App works as before and I can save from other apps. Thank you I loved this app, but now it crashes. What happened?
Tried to save in Pocket but keeps popping up a message saying please open pocket app and log in which I already am so I don’t know what’s going on. Please FIX this or your app is useles.
If you want an app to store articles for later, this is the go-to app. However, recently the report link for article viewing is bugged and links it elsewhere. I was looking forward to have this bug fixed this patch. Also it would be nice if there was option to edit article titles.
Pocket lags and misses frames when scrolling through article list on iPhone 7 plus... It seems to drop frames. This isn't an issue on my Nexus 6P or iPad. Why is there no safari viewer? The 'switch to web view' is horrible. Please add safari viewer. These issues have been here for a while...
I've been using Pocket for a few years now and lately have found almost every article in the readability mode to have significant problems. Sometimes the start of an article is missing, sometimes it's the end, sometimes it's somewhere in the middle. Embedded video, pictures, and audio are often completely or partially missing. Any sort of list, heading, or quote is generally left out or screwed up. And Medium posts? Forget it – switch straight to web view. I report every article I find that has problems, but what happens? Nothing. Hello, is this thing on?
What the hell happened? Pocket's latest update has removed the key feature of the app other than the offline saving - the recommendations tab! This feature offered a plethora of articles curated to reflect your interests based on your existing profile of saved articles, and it was endless! Now with this update, we are reduced to a "Explore" section which limits suggested articles to around 10-15. Why the restriction? Disappointing change. Shame on me for updating it.
One of the best ways of saving articles and reading offline. Great presentation, easy to use and syncs across multiple devices. Loses one star because I would prefer if it went back to the article I was reading when I re-open the app.
I never write reviews and only bother for apps that have made it into my top 10. Get it
I use this app everyday to download and save news and other things I want to look at later while offline. The bonus with this app is that it allows the font size to be substantially enlarged so that I can easily read articles without my reading glasses or when tried.
A great ever tool, so amazing for my offline respository
As a researcher, I am constantly adding articles to Pocket to review. It has to be one of the best Apps.
I use this all the time, it's a great app. At night I like catching up on all the articles I put in Pocket during the day. Unfortunately, they recently took the option make the text field dark with light text away, making it available only with a premium subscription. Like I said, it's a great app but I don't think it's worth $60 per year, and taking features away from the free version is a slimy way to promote the paid version. It makes me want to financially support their developers all the less.
The service this App renders is very helpful and useful. It is user friendly, which means the programmers have thought of all possible obstacles the user might face and resolve it. All I can say keep up the good work for happy pocketing.
Like all reviewers say, having articles at hand at anytime of the day is amazing. Instead of reading through news feeds or random headlines, articles you save or that are recommended allow a much better news/reading experience. Give it a try!
I love this app and have used it every day for years. But... It's TERRIBLE at 2 things 1) unable to keep a good bookmark in the article (not web view), even though that is very simple to do 2) doesn't let you know which articles you are currently reading
Great idea and app works very well. Thanks Pocket!
For some reason, when I log in on a web browser it just hangs. Super annoying.
This is a good app and along with Evernote you can't go wrong.
Incredibly useful on the go!
Very biased. Too many left-wing articles sent to me from left leaning publications. You are losing all credibility. So sad.
It's so useful for me to save articles to read later and I really like their reading moods!
