Lies, progressive lies. How dare you claim to be a dictionary when you are spinning progressive lies? Net Neutrality is a misnomer, created by the Doublespeak Party. Net Neutrality means the government regulates the Internet. Remember when we had 69 years of Telephone Equality, wherein every home had a phone and a phone line? Net Neutrality offers a return to those days, with zero progress, all in the name of equality. Notice who wants Net Neutrality: The gatekeepers, Google, Facebook, and Twitter, so they can control user content and maintain their power. Net Neutrality lasted for 2 years; for the decades prior to that, the Internet flourished. Net Neutrality is about Facebook, Google, and Twitter control and federal taxation, not about free markets and the development of satellite technology to replace fiber optics.

I live word of the day. Absolutely the most used app on my phone at least the most daily personal app that gives me insight and I’m in some way moved when it seems that on most days that they are specifically hand picked for me or that it had a close encounter with something of my life that seems to be all to normal to me know because I can see were in knowledge comes very interesting things like education and technologies and that can be shared like a virus and that each time we send a idea or image in our Minds that we are spreading out disease of a thought processs back into the world around us to be chipper fed and recalculated into one disease infested blob of a thing after the next to composer of the world in broad daylight running in famed out crantastic lightbulb yikes for fact

Dictionary of the day is awesome!. Dictionary of the day is an effective and fun way to easily increase your vocabulary or remind you of words that might have slipped your mind over the years or for that moment when you are distracted and do not want to wake up slapping your forehead at 3AM. Also, one of the biggest benefits is that I am usually able to sneak in at least 3-5 other new/remembered words after reading the daily one. This is why I initially got the app. However, after now using this Dictionary app every day over the course of years; I have found it to be helpful, efficient, easy to use and can be fun and diverting. The reasonable price is the cost of an high calorie, high cholesterol, fattening and unhealthy CappaFrappaAnywayYouLikeItCino and once you enjoy that drink it will be gone forever. But this wonderful Dictionary/Thesaurus with all of it’s content will be with you forever. Considering other options that I have personally used; such as MW, et. al., I most highly recommend this app.

Bugged and missing(?) advertised features.. The sign-in screen doesn't work for me as a returning user. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall. Also, I can't download any sort of basic or complete dictionary or thesaurus, despite it being advertised in the IAP benefits. Maybe the feature is hidden - in that case, please make it more obvious, or add a link in the "Upgrade" tab. Also, it's a little strange that the Upgrade button doesn't go away in the side bar after the purchase, nor does it help you understand how to use your benefits. Other than these issues, it's a pretty good app, and the only full-featured dictionary on the app store with a one-time purchase option that I would wholeheartedly recommend if I could be certain that it worked. This review will be updated when these issues are addressed.

DO NOT DOWNLOAD. Ads block you even after paying.. Huge problems here and guess what? they don’t care. Here’s what to look for: - Even after paying for the highest upgrade, the app inundates you with obstructing ads that block you for 10 secs at a time that you cannot close. Moreover, you’re a full paying customer at this point and they still desperately force ads for revenue. - the ads’ “X” button to close the ad suddenly disappears after 0.5s before you can close it. They must think people are complete idiots. - you can’t look up words like “craving” — it only takes “crave” in the thesaurus. Basically, the app is pretty dumb too. I’ve had this app for almost a year now and finally switching since they have not responded to a single review, comment, or email touch my team and I has sent the past year. We were giving them a chance but now we plan to start hitting social hard with this review. The conclusion is that desperately monetized apps that disregard user-empathy at all costs end up losing fast. The ones that wait for thousands to complain about something (trying to get a quick buck in before the media rants) lose all respect. The ones that don’t listen stop being listened to by the public in return. Too bad, you had your chance.

Word of the day still doesn’t work. It would be nice if when I receive a notification about the Word of the Day that tapping on it would actually take me to the Word Of the Day. Sometimes it does work, but frequently it takes to me to a previous Word of the Day. When I tap on “View All” it shows me a card listing of all the “Words” of the Day EXCEPT the newest word - the Current word for which the notification was generated. It’s as if the notification for the current Word of the Day was generated in advance of when the word is actually added to the list. If this were only an occasional thing I wouldn’t complain, but it happens so frequently that it’s irritating. Here’s an idea: don’t generate the daily notification until the Word has already been added to the list of all the Words of the Day.???? Here’s another idea: when a customer taps on your notification, make sure you navigate them to THAT word REGARDLESS of what word they have currently displayed in the app and regardless of whether the word has yet been added to the Word of the Day card listing. I’m on the newest iOS version.

It’s A Portable Dictionary! 📖. So, I’ve been through all the iterations of this app since the very beginning… and, although I’ve enjoyed the latest updates—finally making a universal app (one app that works across iPad, iPhone, and Watch), adding home screen widgets, word games, etc.—there are a couple “discrepancies” that keep this app from being darn near perfect. My biggest complaint… landscape implementation on iPad has been removed. I use this app daily (on my iPad) while I’m solving crossword puzzles; the fact that I either have to use my Watch or reach for my iPhone (which could be charging) really takes me out of my element. The other option would be to constantly detach my iPad from my keyboard and rotate my device, or tilt my head to the side to use the app. NOT user-friendly at all. Also, on the Watch—in previous versions—when you tapped on the “Word of the Day”, the text was very legible. Now—even though the layout of the WOTD page matches other screens throughout the Watch app, the text is extremely tiny and illegible. Hopefully, these issues will be fixed soon.

Vocabulary is Power. Mark Twain advised ; “Never argue with a stupid person, they will only drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” I use the Dictionary app every single day, no kidding. To take quizzes, learn the difference of and the correct way to use words. Word of the day is awesome and in my morning email daily. Pretty cool right? The videos are clear concise and often humorous making learning fun. Sometimes I am little shocked by the subject/content of the articles/videos ie; (or is it eg;?) lol Topics of sex & sexuality, rec. drugs I kinda think “whoa” however by all accounts they’re current, relevant and educational. The other apps associated with Dictionary are fantastic also! Using the same or similar format makes them easy to navigate from day 1. I have this app 5 stars because they didn’t offer any above that.

Who said dictionaries are boring??. Such a great app this is!! Not only does it provide just definitions, but also tons of synonyms. Not to mention that for the extreme word nerds like me (💁‍♀️), there is are learners and origin sections to grow your knowledge of the word you just looked up! And not only that, but this app provides all sorts of interesting articles on language and word confusions. Not to mention that the developers recently added quote articles, which I absolutely LOVE!! The only two complaints I could possibly have are: 1. Sometimes random adds will pop up that don’t have an x. As a result I have to get out of the app and reload it. 2. One of the many awesome features of this app allows you to click words in a definition, and then it will go to that word’s definition. But, when pressing the back arrow to go back to the original word, the app goes back two or three definitions. But other than those two minor annoyances, this is such a great app and I’d recommend it to anyone!!

My opinion. I love this Dictionary/Thesaurus. It’s easy to use, quickly find the perfect words, because words mean something. Willy-nilly putting words in a business letter, school paper, or Doctorate Thesis because they sound lofty, or because your Professors used it in class(that may not be too bad), or because you’ve used it already in the paper you are writing and that can sound redundant. Words convey your thoughts, your ideas, they are the basis for communication, and in this world of “post-it” text where you have limited characters in which to get your thoughts, feelings, and ideas across, words are even more important! The love of words is something I have had all my life, but then I grew up reading, and enjoying how good writers expressed themselves. Get to know this app! The extra perks, like Word of the Day, and other beneficial extras can test your mind and keep you thinking. So yes, I would recommend this app for everyone.

Love it. Use it daily. I began using this app a couple years ago to help my son expand his vocabulary. Soon after, I was using the thesaurus for myself on a regular basis when drafting anything from professional letters to simple emails to friends! The thesaurus is my favorite. I also use the dictionary occasionally when I'm not sure if I'm using a particular word appropriately in a sentence. I love this app. I also used it to help a friend draft a resume that was very professional. (Yes, she got the job!) I should also mention the speed of this app. I can find a synonym or definition in a matter of seconds. Again, I LOVE this app. Now, if someone could come up with an app to help us learn to use punctuation correctly, I would use that everyday as well.

LOVE. THIS. APP!!!. I use this app absolutely every day! If I’m in a meeting, or even just having a conversation with someone, and they use a word I’m not familiar with, I’ll make a mental note of it, or jot it down, and as soon as I have a chance, I immediately pull up this app and look up any words I made a note of. I do the same thing when I’m watching TV and any new or unfamiliar words come up... I press pause, and pull up the word in my amazingly handy and convenient Dictionary app! 😁💁🏼‍♀️ This is one of the most substantial and most frequently used apps I have, and I ALWAYS go for any upgrade they offer, which I reallyyyy COULD NOT RECOMMEND MORE! One of my FAVORITE things about this app is the *Learners* tab, which you can click on, especially if the definition is somewhat vague or unclear, and I’d say a good 70-80% of the time, at least, they have a break down of the meaning of the word, how to use it, and how to incorporate it into a sentence, etc~ which is incredibly valuable when you’re just beginning to learn and understand a word and how to use it. I just love it!!! Inevitably, I will continue on to the *Example Sentences* tab to see how the word is further used in different ways and contexts, which is also extremely helpful. It’s always surprising to me how much use I get out of this app, but it has helped me immensely to expand my vocabulary, and for that, I’m extraordinarily grateful. I wish I could give this app 10 stars!!! ✨⭐️🌟

Why Ads if i paid for Upgrade???. I downloaded this app about 6 years ago maybe. I instantly opted to upgrade because the ads were so intrusive it was almost impossible to use. At the time there was only one type of upgrade where you paid an upfront cost and it would permanently remove ads and allow you offline use. Everything was great. I use this app daily. And then today, out of nowhere, i get on the app and a get a huge DO YOU APPROVE OF TRUMP? ad. I was like ummmm.... what?? I absolutely paid to never see an ad on this app so i thought maybe it was a glitch. Until i restart the app to see that they’re offering me 10 separate upgrades. One to remove ads, one to use offline, one to create sentences, and a bunch of other unnecessary things. So do i get a refund for my upgrade since you removed it from me?? Please tell me this was a glitch. This was my favorite app :(

Updated review. I use this app a ton, and I love that it has IPA descriptions, and includes various pronunciations, however (at least on the app, maybe not on the website), it'd be helpful if each version showed (with an abbreviation) the country of origin, i.e. US, IR, AUS, GB, NZ. One last fix I would make: please review the example sentences. I was contacted by someone from the app about this, which is really cool, and he/she explained that they are automatically generated and may use one definition more than another. That's fine, but what I've found frustrating more than anything is that if a word is pretty rare, the example sentences will often include proper nouns as they example, like someone's last name. It'd be great if they could screen for that, because it's definitely not a good example!

Feature request & The new update is faster. Thanks for making the searches faster. I have a feature request that I will happily pay for. Allow me to add my own words, complete with synonyms etc. allow me use existing definitions for those words if I can find a synonym in your database Allow me to create categories/tags within my favorites. - you guys can also create ready made default categories that I can add to my collection. Allow me choose what words will be my word for the day. Preferably from the catergories I mentioned . Some times you want to brush up on engineering vocabulary or writing or songwriting or medical or travel or political vocabulary. Your suggestions are just to arbitrary Allow me to add pictures that describe a word. To explain categories: So I can store the word malaria under say medical and disease Or the word church under buildings and religions Or the words shuffle under card games or movement so I can easily review the vocabulary I need depending on what I’m working on. Check out the app Kalimaty they’re doing exactly what I mean but I don’t want to migrate over to another app. Thanks! Please reply/acknowledge

An excellent app that functions well. I appreciate the use of the Dictionary app every day. Learning words by definition as opposed to context has been quite the enlightening experience. The ads that are shown are not frequent, and are usually done/ can be skipped within 5 to 10 seconds. This is always appreciated when my mind is athirst for knowledge. Jeffery Epstein did not kill himself. The app functions well. I have no complaints on its performance and have kept it on the front page of my apps list for a very long time. The added Thesaurus in the app is a very useful tool as well, being able to easily access unique or more suitable words for my sentences both at work and in my personal life. Major props to the administrators who keep the app functioning well. Thank you so much!

Bye Bye App. Be forewarned - they sell your info and hide the fact that they do. This “option” is automatically turned on and buried at the bottom of the settings page. Probably by the time you find it it will be too late to turn it off and they’ve already sold your info. The other thing that is absolutely frustrating is they changed how they display a list of words as you start typing. I used to be able to type a few letters then a list of words would appear that you could easily scroll down to preview. Now it sort of lets you scroll but not really. You have to PULL and HOLD on the list to see a few words past the last visible word but if you let go it BOUNCES back to the top. You can’t see past the first few words. For what purpose does this now serve? Why make the rest of the list so inaccessible? This is in the paid app version - at least I hope it’s the paid version because I paid for it and tried clicking Restore Purchases just to make sure. I just made the switch to Merriam Webster and deleted this app.

Ads...really?. I’ve used this app since before 2014. I’ve used it for school, writing, even work. Not once have I ever been bothered with a wait-to-skip ad interrupting my definition reading. Look, I get money is a thing, I run a business myself. I get it. But banner ads are enough in the case of what your app’s purpose is. Imagine you writing a song or paper and having to wait a collection of 15 seconds between your searches to get what you’re looking for. That is extremely frustrating and annoying. I’ve had so much loyalty to this app. I’d have more respect if you just asked us the user to donate because you need it for operating costs or something. You have a great platform, but not the platform for playable, wait-to-skip ads that interrupt the user experience.

Best dictionary ever. So all of this started about 2 years ago when I got this app, I didn’t really use it because I had a thesaurus app that was also a dictionary, and because I had a real dictionary. Anyway, I randomly logged on on Star Wars Day (I’m a huge fan) and the word of the day was Jedi. I thought that was great, so I logged on the next SW day, and the word of the day was saber. Now this time, being a year older and therefore so much more mature, I decided to actually check out the app, and it’s really great! It has crosswords and other puzzles, words quizzes, (there’s a SW one) a scrabble unscrambl-y thing, and a crossword solver! It’s honestly so much fun, and very useful. You should really get this app, you won’t regret it. P.S. For marvel and Harry Potter fans, there are also quizzes for your chosen franchise.

Rip-off | No choice view. 1st comment: I purchased all of the options listed as a bundle cost. When this upgrade came along all of the expansions except Thesaurus was removed. Now all I see are cost on each expansion to restore. Not good. 2nd comment: I can’t stand this new “Forced Portrait” view. An iPad is best held in “Landscape” view. Plus, all of the iPad-support-stands support iPads in the Landscape view. It is so inconvenient to look up a Word on iPad then have to grasp, rotate to vertical view just to read the definition. Please, unlock the rotation feature and restore this option. And with all these new advertise in play it would suggest that the original developing company has been sold and the press for profits is full court.

“Try it for Yourself”. I downloaded Dictionary App few years back. I’ve never been considered a Nerd, in fact I was the opposite. If I made a C, I was happy. (good golley not cool). But in the midst of all that, I always had a Dictionary…in fact I found myself looking up words anytime I came across one I wasn’t sure of. For real! Daniel Webster & I were pretty tight. My first SmartPhone was an iPhone 6. I quickly realized w/ all the stuff that phone could do, there was one thing missing. Can you guess? If you said Dictionary, you’re very much correct!! I shimmied to that App Store & downloaded what I knew to be a Webster’s Dictionary aka the Dictionary App that prompted this Review.👍🏼👍🏼 One last thing…try it for yourself, you’ll be glad you did. 😃😁 I love it!!♥️❤️

Used to love it. It seems like every time I open the app the frequency of ads that completely hijack my cell phone increase to the point where I'm considering switching to another dictionary. Have some mercy and consideration for those who have supported your website for years and years and years. Surely you get more than enough revenue from the plethora of other ads that make the interface almost unbearable, no? It feels a lot like greed at this point and I'm honestly tired of it. Update: replying to each and every person who is giving fair feedback about the ads with a sales pitch shows you do not care about us. We understand that ads might be necessary, but DO THEY HAVE TO BE FULL SCREEN, VOLUME MAXIMUM, AGGRESSIVELY ANNOYING, RIDICULOUSLY ABRASIVE ADS OR IS YOUR ORGANIZATION JUST GREEDY. Think, think, think, think. Look at how many reviewers are saying the same thing. Fix it soon, because you've just lost yet another customer due to your lack of care.

Doesn’t work anymore. I loved this app- I bought every update and played the word puzzle several times a day - in fact I use everything all day. I also bought every single upgrade. Yesterday, the word puzzle “slipped” to the bottom of the usual right hand list. I went to the App Store and did the upgrade. Now I can’t find all the additional stuff I bought and the word puzzle is very small and when I tap a letter it won’t show up - and there’s some nonsense about coins. I don’t want coins, I don’t know what to do with them and I don’t care, I want the letters I tap to actually work, I want all the additional pieces like examples, rhyme and everything else I’ve paid for to work- i want the word puzzle to be s size like it was where I can actually touch the letters. I’ve recommended this app to all my friends (and as a priest I have a very large contact base) Thank you. (The Rev’d) Kate Guistolise

App, Root word, Ad. This has been a fun app to explore. Lists of related words with stories of their origin etc. I PURCHASED an additional component, the rhyming dictionary in addition to the free app. This did not protect me from the obnoxious, random ad pages that cover the screen and can’t be closed for a very long time. The impossible to get rid of ads are also louder than the volume you have set. Once you can eventually close the page hog it will return. It already has been forced on you so long you can’t avoid seeing it is, so forcing the same ad over and over is infuriating. Not the feeling you want your app to create every time you use it. The value in the app was exploring other words. The in-depth info was well written and could keep a word lover happily occupied for a half hour. Someone worked hard on that content and it was always interesting and educational. But it’s too often and too persistently gone behind ad walls.

Suggestion. I have an issue with the scrolling method while reading a definition or a list of words in the Thesaurus. When you scroll down the page, the bar that has the “Definition”, “Thesaurus”, “Learners”, and “Origin” tabs wants to move up to cover things like the searched word, its pronunciation, etc. I like this feature because it tries to give you more space for reading. However, slightly swiping down brings the upper half of the page back down. I like the idea, but if scroll back and forth a little bit then the content on the screen to just move around instead of staying in place. I hope this makes sense what I’m trying to explain.

Likes and Dislikes. Great App! I love the layout, it’s quick and easy. Lots of options including word of the day, favorite searches, and a premium package. I only have a couple cons, I do wish the app had a “recent search” options which ties into my second con. Sometimes when you exit the app momentarily, when you open it up you’re back on the main page. If there was a recent search option or a way for it to not time out so quickly it would make it a bit easier. I personally use this for school and my business. So when I’m looking for a word I use the Thesaurus frequently. It’s very nice you can click on the word options and view their definitions. But if you exit the app and it’s gone. Can be hard to find that trail again.

Bad word of the day trend. I used to engage this app often. When I needed a word, when I wanted to expand my lexicon and improve my parlance. I loved to see the exciting word of the day and challenge myself to use it. However, recently they have begun exhibiting boring and commonplace words of the day that I have absolutely zero interest tapping on the notification. I found myself loathing to even open the app when I need a definition because of the stupid mundane word of the day. Curse the developers for having damned me to this wretchedness. But then, one day, I tapped on the word of the day. It was something stupid, like “garden”, and the actual word of the day when I opened the app was something like “meliorism”, a word I actually didn’t know. In conclusion, this was a user error. What was happening is that I was getting notified of the synonym of the day, which supplies a simple word and several synonyms for it. Which it totally fine. Boy do I have egg on my face for that one. Rather, I have albumen and vitellus on my visage. Good app all in all.

Became progressively disappointing. First of all, the ads are ridiculous. Watching a five second advertisement between searching a word and seeing the definition is supremely inefficient and frustrating. Second of all, since the Roe vs Wade overturn, every word of the day has been related somehow to the current event. I understand and even enjoy correlating the WOTD to certain holidays like Flag Day or St Patrick’s Day, but I downloaded this app to get interesting and new words I can learn each day, not listen to someone whine about their political agenda by defining words like “prerogative, choice, and draconian” for days on end. Regardless of political beliefs, this comes across as either annoying or campy, and, coupled with the frustrating need to monetize through ads, was the last straw that broke this camel’s back.

A wonderful tool for elementary students too.. My daughter uses this app almost everyday as a companion to reading her novels. She oftentimes comes across words she is unfamiliar with. The dictionary app provides a quick way to access words while she still holds onto her book. We also did homework together last night and the thesaurus feature was wonderfully designed so that one can search antonyms and synonyms while effortlessly switching back to the definition of the original words and newly found words. Lastly, this is a "must purchase" app. You'll experience the app best by having no interruptions. This is important especially if you want a child to use it to build vocabulary while reading independently.

Overall pretty great, a few annoying ticks, though. Great website. Great definitions. Ok app. It is not the most user-friendly. I will be looking up various definitions and all of the sudden, a loading icon will pop up and not go away until I leave and refresh the app. The scrolling is also extremely sensitive, which can get annoying at times. The app also has a feature that allows you to press a word in the definition, which takes you to the definition of the word you just pressed. Super useful, except when you press the back button to return to your original search, it takes you back like 4 searches ago instead of the one you just came from. This means you have to go out of your way to re-search what you were looking at in the first place. Other than that, the app is pretty great.

The Best. I like this app much. I like I can build my vocabulary, the word game is fun an is an extraordinary learning tool…It shows you the words you made withe the scrabbled letters they give you and of course they definitions too. I wish rhyming words would be free. The thesaurus and antonyms I like too; and I like there is grammar too. At this time it good to see differences between “pandemic” “epidemic” and “endemic” and this morning I encountered an article that read What one can use instead of “Sorry”. Some friends think I waste time on my devices but this Dictionary is “The Best” after awhile in it. I feel I am a little more smart than others. Keep up the good work!

Used to be great, now it's terrible. This used to be my favourite tool as a writer. I had all the synonyms I could need right at my fingertips without having to jump down a Google hole to find something. I never even complained about the whole buying-the-offline-version thing. But recently this app has been a MAJOR mess. Thesaurus synonyms used to be alphabetised, now the words are all scrambled up and I have to go searching for a word that I can't think of. I have bad eyesight so this an awful struggle for me, to have to read through every single word instead of just skipping to where I know it will be. I have no idea who thought THAT was a great idea, but whomever it was should be dropped off the side of a tall building because this B.S. isn't even worth being free. Not to mention the billions of ads that pop up. I understand it's free but I'm not paying $3 for an ad-free experience I can just as easily get by using a web browser. TL;DR do NOT get this app - it's disorganised, messy, and annoying.

Why I love the Dictionary app:. Think of all the hundreds of apps available to humankind. Ones that answer questions about gardening. Ones that give alternatives to meditating. Ones that give multiple recipes for the same meatloaf… Ones that answer any question under the stars. And I simply love the. DICTIONARY APP. I love it, perhaps, because I love words. I have always believed that words give us power. Power to uplift, power to crush, power to heal, power to express ourselves, in the written word, and in conversation. Power to encourage others. Power to console. Power to offer hope. And sometimes when I want to convey a special thought, or a wise piece of advice or a humorous story I search for just the right word that elicits the effect that I want and I find myself going to the dictionary app and using it again and again. What simple joy it gives me! What a sense of intelligence emerges as I widen my lexicon. As Jimmy Fallon writes silly thank you notes to ideas or pop culture, I, J.W. Thank you dictionary app!!! You rock! TRULY

Dictionary. I am a writer but terrible at spelling. And even do not how toPronounce a word. This is my favorite app. If u want a easy app. That just helps u with hardly any effort. This app is for u. I am writing a book for God. I use this app a lot and I have gained do more knowledge from it. I love looking up definitions to words. To open the meaning of it. And it pronounces words that I do not know how to. Thank you very much. This app has opened new worlds to me. By really learning words we often use. But each time I look up a word. After reading theDefinition and hearing it pronounced. I have gained a deeper knowledge of that word. If I can not pronounce the word. I keep listening to thePronunciation of words. That this app taught me. ***GET THIS APP*** u will grown to depend on it. And the knowledge of words are addictive.

“How GREAT is this app!?!”. I just don’t know quite where to begin or just how to start this review, but without a doubt and unequivocally, this application has been such a tremendously huge success for broadening my vocabulary, and knowledge of the English language! I am sure that this must be the longest sentence in ever describing any one thing, it’s just incredible! I truly love it and the added benefit of having an attached thesaurus which further demonstrates that there are many more ways in which to describe one word. It’s truly phenomenal! In conclusion, all I can think or say about this application is, “Keep Up The Great Work!”

I love it and am grateful for it.. The interface is enjoyable. I appreciate the simple themed blog posts about words. I like how you can favorite words and the easy switch to thesaurus mode. It would be cool to have fewer ads, or at least a different type of ad. Those upper corner countdown ads are irritating. As a songwriter I’m always playing with words, and not just rhyming, but syllable breakdown - lining them up with different melodic lines and rhythmic ideas. It would would be cool to markup the words within favorites - have metadata. Like be able to write “about” the words, sort and group them almost by project, and have them linked to audio and journals docs in like a google doc or another app. Thanks!

Woke App - Be careful, altered definitions and thesaurus. When looking up a word that I’ve known for decades I discovered that someone has altered the true meaning of a word to fit an agenda. The meaning of a word includes thesaurus terms. However, the “woke-ism” of this app revealed itself. (Eg. The word Conspiracy) Dictionary’s Thesaurus lists treason, and sedition which has little to nothing to do with the word. In fact, conspiracy is likened to be fact until proven to be false. Webster’s dictionary words, require panel reviews to alter a word’s meaning. Webster’s synonyms for conspiracy are: “cabal, crew, gang, Mafia, mob, ring, syndicate.” Which is, and have been the true synonyms for the word. And... as it has been said. Everything woke turns to .... Also, Wikipedia is being altered by woke initiatives by unaccountable individuals without pedigree. With Wikipedia at least we can see “who” (usually an entity that fails to list first name, surname and credentials) altered the information when they altered it and what was added or changed. Not in Dictionary. This Dictionary app icon got moved next to my urban dictionary app button at the back of my references group. Another app moved to the front of my reference group of apps for dictionary.

Gone completely dowhill. I downloaded this app on the first iPod I ever received about 10 yeas ago because I was stuck in the countryside during the summers in an area that only carried one cellphone company’s tower (but not in the house I stayed in, spotty at best in the rest of town, and naturally not the one I had anyway). I got a lot of reading done...so many books. This app gave me the ability to look up words as I tried to expand my vocabulary and interests in other genres/forced summer reading for school. It was the offline feature that drew me to the application in the first place, the only limit of having no internet was the inability to here the audio pronunciation. It was perfect! How such a feature would be a paid service now, disadvantaging children and adults who may have limited access to internet services is disgusting. Would be enough for me to rate one star but then on top of that you’ve put so many intrusive ads as to make this app unusable even if you have internet unless you pay for the upgrade. Shameful

Where did all these forced ads come from???. 1) The ads are overkill to say the least. This used to be. 5 star app- I never had to deal with all these stupid pop-ups and inescapable video ads. You’re lucky Siri’s integrated thesaurus is so limited or else I would’ve deleted this app a long time ago. 2)Personally this has become a more recently growing issue. I’ll search thesaurus for word, “x”, with 0 results, no synonyms available. However, if I search for something synonymous with “x”, such as “n”, a whole list of synonyms pop up, including “x”!! ugh 🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ Other times when I’m looking through a given list of synonyms , I’ve clicked on a word for its definition, but there is no definition available bc the dictionary doesn't even recognize this word exists. . Vise versa after looking up a definition , I’ll try to use thesaurus on it , but it comes up no synonyms available. And trust me both problems are equally frustrating. Seriously, how can you know the synonymy of a word on one side of your app, but can’t deliver its friggin definition on the other side. Stupid.

I don’t know what’s happening with the app.. For the last few weeks (or maybe the last month) I’ve been experiencing a lot of issues with the app, I have the upgrades and everything in order to avoid distractions in the app, however I been having a lot of issues with the search of vocabulary... when I used to type something I would have to search for the word and then refresh for the result to show up as it always gave me an “error” and I wasn’t able to see the content unless I refreshed my search which got super annoying after a couple of times I had to do it, now after this update I try searching for words and it keeps loading indefinitely and no results are shown. This is very annoying and time consuming and it’s super inconvenient... I been having to go to google in order to find the definitions. Super disappointed, please fix these ongoing issues.

Constantly crashing is the biggest flaw... among others. Both this and the pro version constantly crash. Like others, I found the advertisements incredibly frustrating and vastly excessive, but as a writer, I decided to invest in the pro version. What I discovered was an app that should be better, but is plagued by numerous flaws. The crashing occurs often and is obviously frustrating. So much so, I started referring to my Alexa for word information instead. I have also experienced the app stating I need an internet connection when I’m clearly connected and with all other applications working on my device. The voice recognition for looking up words is also inferior, and results in so many inaccuracies, it cannot be trusted to be useful. I wanted this app to be great, especially after paying for the pro version and utilizing the website, but it’s just not at this chapter in its existence. I will be looking to see how similar app’s perform.

Good tool and a suggestion. I myself use this app in many different situations, and find it useful and informative . One item that i use nearly everyday is the word of the day. There was a word this last week that appeared and i shared it with my wife and kids. They questioned whether it was used that way. I looked it up and it was not found in either the dictionary or in the thesaurus. My first reaction was that maybe I had used a different App. However, i checked the list of words of the day and it was there. There may be reasons for this but I would suggest that any words of the day be included in the dictionary. The word I was looking up was “dumbledore.” Thanks for the great resource.

Dictionary of Lies (pt. 2). In response to the developers, the definition of what a female is will never evolve or change. Female: “of or denoting the sex that can bear offspring or produce eggs, distinguished biologically by the production of [large] gametes (ova) that can be fertilized by [smaller] male gametes.” A male can never identify into being a female; a female is not a set of insignificant stereotypes. Do not aid in the erasure of the language of women. Without our language, there would no longer be any legal protection for women—adult human females—in law. What’s next? Can a canidae now identify into being a felidae or an ursidae due to its specific personality? Are we going to include humans in all of the different kingdoms, phylums, classes, orders, families, genuses, and species purely because biology and language have ‘evolved’ into losing all basic meaning? Can people now identify into a different age brackets simply because they feel like it? Will blue now become orange? Where and when is the line drawn? You’ve altered the definition of a female in order to placate the wishes of a group of delusional males that wish to be included in something they’re not. In the real world, the word female is never used to describe a male. Words have meaning for a reason.

Mr C. The thesaurus is as important to me as the dictionary, maybe more. It will receive in any week more hits from me than the dictionary. It is the best tool to build vocabulary. I like this app because it not only helps me increase my vocabulary, it helps me by being quick about it. I don’t want to take time to go to that page or check here - no - punch in a word and have the app give me options, it’s good to have options. The only thing better for your app would be the logarithm s that will keep track of word belonging to a topic i visit frequently. Thanks for your app! It is great!

Review about the application dictionary. I am finding that studying the word pronounce with comparing like words may show strength in contrast to words that may have same meaning is a promising way to learn how and when to use; also rather used as a noun or verb helps me. I have dementia so it is also keeps my brain functioning better with using this app. Needless to say it is fun and I feel like I am gaining ground instead of losing my ability to use correct words and pronounce correctly. Thank you so much for the gratitude of helping me. I hope that I can more ways to help me to maintain my thoughts and expressions. I am gaining more confidence that I might not lose words. It is a joy.

Is This a Legitimate Dictionary?. My question, after reading some “articles” from this “dictionary”, is — is this a legitimate dictionary or yet another medium of the Left wing propaganda machine? Should we just label this as “The Progressives’ Dictionary”? I have not taken the time to look up definitions for “socialism”, “capitalism”, or “gender” yet, and I won’t bother, but I would be wary of many definitions that this dictionary offers that have political/social significance (for example, “assault rifle”). I love words, and I like all the extra information about each word that this dictionary offers, but the concern is, can this information be trusted? I would not use this as a primary source for my word definitions, but as curiosity. It is fun to compare real definitions of words with the Progressives’ definitions of the same words.

Compared to MW, this is more bang for the buck. I originally used the free version of this and was frustrated with the pop ups and constant crashing (every couple search, it crashes and you have to reopen). So, I paid for Merriam-Webster and I will say I got frustrated with that because definitions are short, no second or third options for pronunciation, some words don’t show up (I guess that version is based on abridged? Many words I found on here, I couldn’t find on MW). So I re-downloaded this and for a few bucks more that MW, you get tons more feature. I find the Learners, Idioms, and Example Sentence really useful. If you use this everyday, just shell out the 6 bucks. It’s the price of a Frappuccino, for Christ’s sake.

iPad User: Great App w/ Great Features. I’ve had a few months with this app and I can say I absolutely loved everything about it with the exception that it was not very well supported for iPad. Well, they must have herd me because that recently changed with the new updates. The horizontal mode makes it so much easier to look up words while I’m working without having to tilt my head or the screen. The new added widget feature also comes in handy whenever I need to make a quick search without having to open the App. Continuous updates like these really reassured my purchase decision.

Where’s Dictionary?. I have had this app for years and I love using it. I always read and enjoy all u have to share too. Today, I get on, look up a word, it takes me to an ad, I waited and nothing happened, then it pops up again and I don’t want what ever the ad is offering, I try and get out of it.. then a page pops up saying “ Google has removed this ad”. Must have been my Dictionary app because I can’t get it back on my screen. It could have been my fault but I lost my words I saved before… I hope this doesn’t happen again. I am thankful for the long time I’ve had your app. I’ll wait and hopefully it will come back up.

User Interface is Bad. When it comes down to actually using the app, user interface is pretty bad. Non-English ads pop up and you have to guess which word will close the ad. There is no X to close it and a bunch of pop-ups open when you guess wrong. I mainly use this as a widget on my iPhone home screen, to see Word of the Day. For that purpose, it is great. However, if you want to dig deeper into the daily word, you open the app and the ad issue appears. Close the app, reopen, and try the action again. The same ad reappears. I am 24yo and have never wasted this much time on an app before. I might buy the ad-free version, depending on the cost. But if it’s a monthly deal that costs more than $1 then that is a bad deal. My advice to the developer: ads are annoying enough, but we understand the necessary funding they provide you; please use the language per user so we can waste as little time as possible. Leaving reviews like this is time consuming and not fun. I hope this report helps to improve user interface for all users.

Deleted thanks to invasive ads. It was bearable when ads were just banners, now they’ve been made full screen and default to play with sound even when my phone is on silent. Moved across to Terminology now which still has ads but are nowhere near as in your face.

Thesaurus now ruined. That’s it for me! October 2020, the latest upgrade has ruined the layout of the Thesaurus results for me. Being older I often forget simple words so I rely on this Thesaurus to help me find the word I am looking for.... now I find it cluttered and confusing. And if you go to word of the day you can’t access the Thesaurus for that without having to type in the word. This app has been degrading over time, so it’s time to look for a replacement. Haven’t you heard: if it ain’t broke don’t fix it?

Dictionary. This is so convenient and helpful for my ability to quickly access all the information available good job thank you to everyone who made this app available!

What the f@?k. I have been using this app for quite some time very happily I purchased the rhyming component and have been using it enough. As of today according to this app there are no words that rhyme. It was an extra purchase of a few dollars that nobody bothers with I’m offended by the complacency for not being compensated for a huge and frequent variety of inconveniences.

Overwhelming ads. I really enjoy their website but the ads in the app are so intrusive and regular, they occur every 2 or 3 searches and take up the full screen for maybe 5 seconds - it’s very frustrating when I am trying to follow a thought train to nail down the word I want

New format. Really don’t like this app anymore since it’s last update.... New format is horrible 😠

It’s the only one I use. Good succinct definitions for words. I like the combination with Thesaurus. I also like the brief explanation of the origins of the word. Hate the ads…

Almost perfect. [Update] The developer has replied to me. Thank you. They are considering my suggestion. I will be purchasing the pro version together with the medical version upgrade. The pattern matching is essential to me for my crossword passion. What this lacks is pattern matching. I would definitely pay for the Pro version if it had this feature.

Lunacy in propaganda. I was very disappointed to read the story on ‘how the letter X creates more gender neutral language’. As a mobile app and dictionary service, users expect basic respectful content that is not tainted by the idiotic politically energised rubbish on how we should stop referring to people by gender pronouns, a long-honoured and exceedingly basic part of the English language you are meant to be supplying. Absolutely ludicrous and shameful content. I will not be recommending to any associates.

Daictionary. So, its an amazing app! But my problem with it is, i don’t know how to spell, write or pronounce that word and when I put it in, it says “Cannot FIND anything” It would be really helpful if there was a Word scanner were you come into Dictionary, press Camera, scan a word and then it tells you its definition and meaning. Thanks, Gamer Girl

Great. Hi guys this is such a good app I love everything and I have no complaints at all. I really how you structured your app and the way the keyboard is so big which is a good thing!!!!!!! You guys did so well making this app!! Their is no app quite like this one that is so good as this app!!! Good job for making this app!!!! Thanks for reading this review!

Dictionary Delightful. It’s encouraging when I can’t spell a word but the options are shown for me to select the right word that I need.

Dictionary. This app is so good, it’s games are fun for no wifi. Can you please add the wordle game that changes every time you lose or win? It would be a pleasure if you did that.

The best. This app is the best it really helps me with grade 6 school work. It’s also very helpful with wordle on New York Times. I’ve probably been using this app about 2 times a day 😁

Best efficient. Very easy to use and has lots of meanings of the words you don’t understand. Highly recommend you to use this amazing app

OK. Good though the ads are all over the place - only got this app because on the website it keeps you to spin this wheel and wastes my time doing homework. In fact the ADS are also slowing me down as well!

Dictionary. Hello everyone I love this app and it’s great but there is one thing see whenever I delete the add on the bottom or the top it always comes up with an other add and it’s very distracting so if u could change that that would be great Written by Sravya

Everyday support. I use this app several times a day and it never fails to disappoint. You can also go to the added thesaurus to find synonyms and also antonyms. It’s an excellent free source of knowledge.

Good. Good but is lacking in providing FREE examples on how to use specific words in various sentences and scenarios! Used to be better in the past by giving free examples. Now the APP users are asked to pay for such, not really helpful.

Outstanding work. after i downloaded this app 👨‍💻i have been able to actually under stand the meanings of words and how to pronounce them FANTASTIC WORK guys🎉🙂📕👏👍🤯

Reply.. I’m well educated and schooled so therefore if I’m not sure of the correct spelling (of a word) I will most assuredly make sure my‘ version’ is correct. Poor spelling and or grammar is the ‘Potts’. Pete.

Amazing. This was a great up to look up and I really recommend it because it’s helpful when ever you’re wanting to find better words and to learn something new, So really GET THIS APP

Love it. I've had this app for years, and it's the best app on my phone. I'd go as far as saying it's the best app in the app store, and I'm maths teacher. I went to ad-free sometime ago, and I don't regret it. I do get a lot of emails, however, and although I have altered my subscription settings, I still get the emails. Fixing the email settings makes this app five stars easy.

Feedback for ads. Self confessed word nerd here 🙋🏽‍♀️Love the app and have used it almost every day for years. One thing I’ve noticed lately is that the ads are becoming more aggressive. Unfortunately because I often work in the quiet study area of my local library, I have had the embarrassing situation of going to look up a word and having loud ads blaring at me and disturbing the other patrons. I wonder, from a marketing perspective (yes, that is part of my job!) if due to the nature of the target audience you have (and the likelihood they use office/ quiet spaces when engaging with your app), some parameters on audio content could be introduced? Thanks!

Your new update is terrible 🤬. Hate it, hate it hate it. The new version is too confusing and fussy on the eye. Too irritating to use. Will probably find a better app. You also ignore the British and Australian spellings. These are the correct ones. The American versions are a corruption. Why not accept both? Having definitions and synonyms colour coded is good, but three columns with the text wrapped is painful on the eye and extremely confusing. Please put them back into one column, or two if you must. Three is too much for an iPhone. It is essential that you acknowledge the correct British spellings of words. It is American imperialism at its worst not to. There are hundreds of millions of people round the world who use the Queen’s English and do not know what the bastardised American spellings are. It would only be to your benefit to rid yourself of this Americocentric image you currently have.

Updated version. Updated version is amazing. Same as previously however with the updated widget allowing you to cycle through words and guess there meaning, amazing!

Knows everything…. It has every word I can think of and has a word of the day area. It even has the meaning for it’s own name!

Good App-titude. This app is is very useful for everyday use but now that I am studying and reading more I am referring to it on a daily basis.. the thesaurus too. It’s easy to use! BUT the adds are annoying popping up all the time! That’s a minus.

Use to be great.. What’s happened to this app. No definitions. It now keeps telling me I need an internet connection even though I’m on internet.

Love the app! But a glitch. I love this app, it’s useful for synonyms and other words for a word your looking for. I gave this four stars because I purchased the offline pack.. and when I turn on airplane mode, it says I need internet. Any solutions?

Love the thesaurus. I like the thesaurus but lately when I open the app nothing loads. I have to force shut down the app and open it again for it to work. Really frustrating. Hasn’t had an app bug fix in a while.

Pretty good. Pretty good app. As others have said ads are a little annoying but you have to make your money somewhere. Only thing that annoys me is that the word of the day isn’t working on my app. Apart from that good thanks

Incredibly amazing dictionary ever had. So comprehensive and contains massive information that you could possibly think of

Words Have Never Been So Fun!. Over the last 10 years my migraines have increased incredibly and are now so debilitating that when I am slightly well & brave enough to come out of my light and soundproof cave to try & do what needs to be done and I find myself grasping for words that were so easily accessible when I was living, breathing & striving particularly well through life. I not only enjoy the ease of finding what I need, but I either learn something new or, I know the correct answers and you wouldn’t believe how much of a positive impact that makes to my day! 😊 I usually look at the previous days words as well, so I’m stoked that the app not only answers my queries, but engages me which is quite fulfilling.

A bit disappointed. I used to love this app, I haven’t used it for a while as I haven’t need to. I only just discovered that some words don’t even have synonyms when spelled in the British/Australian way. For example, I tried ‘conceptualise’, and it wasn’t recognised until I changed it to the US spelling. Please change this.

Too many ADS. Takes too long to look up a word because of the ads that pop up and you have to wait for them to finish in order to resume with the search. Very annoying. Do not recommend it.

Power pack. $9.99 power pack is for how long? One weak, one month or one year? And if I change my device can I still use my purchase or i have to buy another one? Thanks

Dictionary Highflyer. A very useful and powerful tool. The additional word of the day and thesaurus gives you new words for your storehouse and interesting synonyms and antonyms for language flexibility.

Ads overtaking the “clear recents” section. There’s no possible way to clear the recent history because you have an ad choice that covers thIs section with no possible way of ever clearing anything out. Needs fixing as that is poorly designed, forcing you to click on an ad when trying to accomplish the impossible

What’s going on with word of the day. I’ve had this app for a few years and recently word of the day stopped working. I thought if I paid for the upgrade that it would start to work again $9:99 later and I’ve got the same app with the same issues pretty annoyed and would like my money back thanks.

Great resource. Thoroughly recommend this App as an accurate and quick tool for everyday use or the wordsmith.

Great. I love this app, especially because you can learn a lot from here, new words, and so much more! Thank you!

Tracking of ad compulsory?. I’ve been using this app for many years. Tried to use it today and suddenly I was prompted that I have to turn on the tracking of ads and if not, unable to continue using the app. Why? Felt compelled to do it and at the same time don’t like to be tracked.

I LOVE THIS APP. I only JUST started using this app on the 5 of June 2019 but this app is SOOOOOO good. It’s really helping me with my definitions and up leveling my words and if you don’t have this you are living underneath a rock! ( or a log. Whatever you can afford) So make sure you get it NOW!!!

What spelling is that?. I frequently use this dictionary to get the meaning of unusual words. I also use this dictionary to get the correct spelling of words I am not sure of. For both purposes this dictionary is eminently suitable, and easy to use.

Dictionary app- is it worth it?. I have been using it a lot lately and it really helps me to reach the definition of words I don’t know.

Great App!!!. Have used this app for a few years now. Easy quick and have more options to add to it if you like. Eg: thesaurus etc.

So many unique features. You have quizzes and daily crosswords and activities that other dictionary apps usually wouldn't have! It's very fun doing the games and I'm glad I downloaded the app. I would rate this five stars except there are a load of ads and the app is a bit slow to load. Anyway, fantastic app!

Needs Split View support. Fantastic application with heaps of extra features. One time payments for removing ads instead of a subscription model. Just needs iPad Split View support and it would be perfect

4 would have been 5. Would have been 5 stars but those ads are so bothersome. They just hang around. So annoying.

Ad Wall. ‘Nuff said.

New app with ads. I’ve updated to the new app because my old one was having issues. Guess what? Video ads. And to think that I paid for a couple of their products before

The word of the day is the true star. I only downloaded this again to have the word of the day widget. I do not use it to look up definitions because the ads in this app are frequent, intrusive, and obnoxious. My browser is much better for getting definitions in a timely, less distracting fashion. Originally, I downloaded this to have an app to use specifically when I'm writing or doing work, but game ads in a productivity app is a no no. Loved this dictionary two years ago... before the ads. You dropped the ball here.

In app purchases are not allowed in Canada. I tried to in app purchases after downloading the app and got a message that these are not allowed in my country. Without the in app purchase the ads are so frequent and annoying that they make the app not usable. This app should be removed from the Canadian App Store.

This app has devolved. A once great dictionary app that has been turned into a money printing ad collage. Can’t blame the devs but whenever an app is intentionally worsened for greedy purposes it’s a 1 star. Also you need WiFi to use now just to support the constant adds. 👎👎

what kind of dictionary has ads. it’s ok but takes forever to load and the ads are annoying especially if you’re searching up multiple words in a row

First time on this App. I don’t know more about this App, so I will keep continuing to work on it.

NO. Like I open the dictionary on the Web and it takes me to the app and immediately pops up this rating so I gave 1 star. I am so tired of dictionary.com inundating me with pop-ups and ads. I used to be able to use this online dictionary to, like, actually search words. WTH.

Well-deserved 5 star. Perfect and very very helpful

Quality app. We’ll done! The free version offers details and variety of learning options.

Invaluable !!!. Referenced frequently on a daily on a daily basis for work and play. Outstanding. Keep up the good work , signature words, and quizzes. Thank you all.

Latest Release Charges for Offline Mode. This app used to offer a free download of Dictionary database for offline use. No longer the case. Pop up for Dictionary.com app’s requirement to track users blocks the home screen of the app and won’t allow to use the app. Pop-op seems to not be scaled to click a hidden ‘ok’ or similar button.

Love it and hate it. Love it and use it almost daily. I read a lot so I like to look up definitions when I come across an unknown word. I especially like the thesaurus tab, helpful when I have writer’s block. Hate the gaming ads that now pop up. Drives me nuts. I’m reading more e-books now & they have a built in dictionary thus I use this app less and less. My rating would have been a 5 if it weren’t for those annoying ads

I used to love this APP. This was my favorite dictionary /thesaurus however since the latest update I am less than happy with it. Pushing for upgrade constantly by blocking definitions of words, asking you to watch videos in order to unlock the upgrade. I want the old version back. Looking for a new dictionary:(

Forces you to accept tracking ads.. Newest update forces you to accept tracking ads. No X to close the pop up without accepting. Not willing to accept tracking and then turn it off…that’s enough time for them to grab my data.

Charging $4 for the offline dictionary now.... May your mother be charged for oxygen.

Dictionary. Easy to search ; spreading knowledge Most of the words are included in the dictionary It is free reference as well which is great If it is not free - limited will use it ; it that case knowledge will not spread

Love me some dictionary appppp!🩷🤪🥳. It’s been one of my favourite apps for ages!

I came to learn words not watch ads. Lose the ads.

4 star. Usually give 5 stars but just trying to leave some room for improvement if at all possible. Have a great day.

Straight to the point. Straight to the point thank you

Excellent. Get the whole suite. Working concurrently, they prove to be valuable knowledge tools.

Font size sometimes too small. Wish option to increase font size. When looking at previous word of the day words the definition for some is incredibly tiny... hard to see. Some are okay. Seems to have to fit in a certain area. Same with widget guessing the definition of the word of the day, definitions are too small. Hard to read when it changes to neon green colour once clicked.

Best yet. Indispensable

Very Useful. Handy to have available on my phone. I enjoy the English language… my vocabulary is reinforced.

Awesome!!!. I loooove this app so much! Keep it up;)

recent words erased. please stop erasing recent words whenever a new update is available

Word List. I bought this apps as I saw it can maintain multiple word lists function via computer. However it’s not available on iPhone apps. So sad, I hope I can withdraw the bill now.

Helps me. This helps me find the vocab word definations i have for homework so yeah this app is really useful at leaat for me that is. 🦧🇫🇷🇫🇷🦧🦧🦧🦧🇫🇷🦧💀👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿

How to improve app. If you could expand more on the original sources of words section, including definitions of roots, prefixes and suffixes and include examples, that would help those wanting to bolster their vocabulary.

Excellent!!. I love this app! Everyday it gives you this “word of the day” and it tells you it’s definition and examples. When you don’t know how to spell the word then you can say it on the microphone, but if you don’t know how to spell it nor pronounce it that you can type the word in the bar how you think it is spelled and then it will give a list of words to see which you you mean. The definition are quite clear and the give you where that word came from. Best part is……it’s free!!

THE dictionary app. Clean and intuitive interface with must have features like example sentences pulled from countless books and publications and ability to save and organize words you want to revisit

Trash. No bueno

Ads Have Sound When Phone on Silent. App is good but for some reason the advertisements will play WITH SOUND even if your device is on Silent or Vibrate. This is obviously a pretty big issue when using the app in quiet settings like at work or in a library. I will be using a different app or perhaps their website instead to avoid this ridiculous scenario.

Uses “punching feminists who don’t agree with you” as a usage example.. This source is not reliable. I do not recommend using this as a resource. Politics has infiltrated their definitions and many are soaked with misogynistic undertones.

Idioms. I bought idioms and phrases. The app didn’t add any common phrases and idioms.

Very slow. After recent update the app is too slow, lots of ads and the text is shaking

A wordie’s convivium. I find the daily word a stimulating reminder of many of the words that have slipped out of my RAM, and the occasional new one to boot. Such a positive way of feeding the mind at the beginning of a day—beats reading of the latest atrocities.

Add a vocabulary list option. As a premium used, I say that the features of the application is impeccable. That being said, it would be great if there was an option for users to create a vocabulary list for each topic/theme. Please do consider this for your roadmap.

Excellent Dictionary ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. A comprehensive and user-friendly dictionary app with a vast vocabulary database. Its simple interface and reliable definitions make it an essential tool for word enthusiasts and students alike.

Lack of scope. The term “ pusser” is a term used in the British Royal Navy to denote “correctness” in dress, situation or behaviour. I am surprised that this adjective is not included in your lexicon

Not like it used to be. I have used this app for several years now and I until recently I loved it. I’m not sure what has changed or why but there are now limitations (unless you pay for an upgrade) and way too many ads. I think we will be breaking up soon😢

Dictionary. Word of the day Can not access definitions & examples

Excellent job. Pretty darn good dictionary. I gave you 4 Stars initially. Now I changed my mind and give you 5 stars. You have the word Definition(s) and most importantly, it’s Origin. I owe a good part of my mastering the English language to Dictionary.com Thank you, Antonino Russo

Dictionary App. I use the Dictionary / Thesaurus app constantly. I could not complete a day without it, and that’s the absolute truth

Advertising ruined my experience. Uninstalled the app a few seconds after first word search. It was impossible to close the ad without closing the app and stating over.

Learning. Roots of words and what they truly mean can change how someone thinks.

Perfect.. I’ve been using this for years to help me spell words autocorrect doesn’t know lol, a dictionary and a thesaurus!

Excellent. I use this app every day

The Always Available Dictionary. There are many words that I like to look up to get a more exact definition than what is in my head. This Dictionary App is most helpful. It is also good when I am not sure of the spelling of a word. This App takes care of those words very quickly. It gives different spelling options when I haven’t entered a word properly spelled. The App has daily words to look at just to increase our/my vocabulary. I like learning about new words or just want to verify that the word actually means what I think it does.

Does what I need.. I’m glad they’ve corrected the overkill on ads. After coming over from droid, I downloaded it on my iOS device, and then almost as quickly deleted it because of the absolute bombardment of advertisements. So heavy where the ads, that I had to watch an ad just to use it the first time after opening it. They fixed that malady, and now it is a usable app again. My only complaint thus far is the fact that once I’ve looked up a word, I cannot copy it so that I might put it into a document that I’m working on. I think this is an almost fatal flaw, though beyond this one brain fart, it’s outstanding.

More and more disappointed. I used to love this app. I started using it years ago and thoroughly enjoyed the Word of the Day. I liked having everything about the word on the original page. Now I have to click on the word to get synonyms and, more irritatingly, the etymology of the word. In addition, I object to having to purchase information that used to be included in the free app, particularly examples, which effectively provide the correct usage and nuance of a given word. I also made extensive use of the grammar feature. I will say that I like the new format of the thesaurus. It is closer to the original Roget organisation and makes it much easier to put your finger on the correct synonym for a given context.

Favorite app for professional writing. It takes very little time and imagination to write much and say little. The art of authoring something worth reading, to explicate in written word while also being succinct takes great care. To utilize language in such a way so as to say-a-lot while saying little is undoubtedly enhanced by using this app. Using Dictionary & Thesaurus is my absolute go-to when writing professionally and technically. Spell checking is the least of the myriad benefits of this app. Love it! ALP

RIDICULOUS WITH THE ADS. While I normally enjoy the utility of the free app, the ads are just outright RIDICULOUS. What would have been a 4 star review is now 2 stars because I will never use this app at work again. I work in an office and keep my phone on silent. I used the app to find a synonym, and as I switched from dictionary to thesaurus, an incredibly loud and obnoxious ad for a game started playing, bubble popping sounds and all. Other apps that have ads in them routinely silence the sound if my phone itself is on silent. I don’t know what’s more embarrassing, that my boss and my colleagues think I’m playing bubble popping kids’ games at my desk, or attempting to explain to my boss that I was just using a dictionary app before childish music filled the quiet office. This needs to be fixed. Until then, I will not use the app while at work, which really takes away a lot of its utility. I get that it’s a free app, but I can deal with the ads if they don’t force the volume to override my decision to silence my phone. I shouldn’t have to pay for the full version just to avoid the potential embarrassment of an obnoxious ad blaring through my phone.

Can your kids use botryoidal in a sentence?. This is the only app I ever purchased. It’s (duh) a dictionary and thesaurus on your phone—with great word of the day words—and the whole shebang is six bucks. What, are you going to walk around with an actual dictionary instead? Now, I’m no Scrooge McDuck so my pool isn’t exactly filled with gold doubloons (which seems kinda painful anyway) but still. If these dictionary mofos wanted six bucks a day, I’d be like here’s my ATM card. Take whatever you want. Seriously. (This is not a paid endorsement).

Great app but please fix your bugs. I use the paid version (the free ad laden version is unusable In my opinion) of this app often but the latest version has a few issues. Clicking on another word, while reading the word’s definition no longer works. Also, the favorites list only shows the first page of saved words. What’s the point of adding a word to your favorites if you can’t view them? All in all, this is a great app and I especially like the learners view.

New design, had to uninstall.. It’s too hard on the eyes and feels like the “blue screen of death”, the old layout was easy on the eyes while feeling fun and inviting. Currently I’m looking at the word of the day, and past words, I feel like I am signed on to the internet of the mid to late 90s not in an awesome nostalgic way. I purchased the “pro” dictionary app years ago, it has made improvements over that time, I may not agree with all of them, I can tolerate them. This new design just offends me in such a way I have to discontinue use of the app, uninstall it, and request a refund knowing that’s a request that won’t be fulfilled, but I have to because of how bad this new design is. I would look up other descriptive words to verbally illustrate just how terrible the new design is but, I no longer have a dictionary app installed.

MelSmelS. I love this app! I use it so often. It’s easy and quick! And it really comes in handy when I need to know the meaning of a word quickly! The definitions and explanations are in written in easy language so that you don’t have to look up a word within the definition to understand the word that you’re looking up! There are add ons that you can purchase such as a thesaurus cut I have gotten by just fine with this alone. Love it! I highly recommend!

App feature description misleading. I’ve had the free version of this app for several years. In an to minimize apps led me to compare dictionary app features. Specifically I want a dictionary with synonyms. I debated and chose this one because it offers mor privacy. While not the most expensive app by any means. I feel mislead & quickly attempted to delete my purchase, but it’s still pending. I took screen shots to make sure it wasn’t my misunderstanding. I searched help. (Synonym of the day is Not what I wanted). Finally on my third try, I found “synonyms” under “grammar.” Odd, since the options for each word include thesaurus & several others. It would be fine, except the synonyms were minimal (about 5). One another dictionary app, there were at least triple, including uses. The App is fine. I do not understand why it’s rated so high. It certainly isn’t useful for anyone HS or beyond looking for alternate words and usage. I hope developers describe it more accurately AND include more information in the help section about accessing the features. $6 and an hour of time that I regret.

Good Dictionary But Some Weak Feature and Upgrades Need to Be Rebought. I used to like this app. But that’s changed over the past few years, for three main reasons. First, I have bought upgrades for this app but those upgrades have disappeared upon downloading new versions of the app. Nor can my upgrades be restored. Now, to access those upgraded features, the app asks me to buy them again. Second, many of the original features of this app (such as example sentences) are now only available as separate add-ons to buy. Third, one of the features of this app that I liked best was the ability to “favorite” a word, putting that word in a list of favorites. I would enjoy killing time by reviewing my favorite words, including easily clicking on their definitions. But now this feature is clumsily implemented, requiring too many clicks to get to. What’s worse, once you reach a favorite word and click on its definition, you have to start over the entire series of clicks again to reach another favorited word, and this time you have to start at the beginning of your list. This is time consuming if your list is long.

Great start to the day!. Enjoyed with my morning coffee and devotions, I take great great pleasure in starting each day off right by also taking my daily dictionary “vitamin” and challenging myself in using it in a sentence sometime in the day. Just a pleasant and easy one-a-day dose of improving our command of the language and likewise stimulating our mind. I especially like the offered literary examples of the word. The pronunciation offered also gives me more confidence in employing it in conversation. I relish understanding the word origins as they are quite fascinating and help me in later recalling the word.

Let the Buy to Know Begin. I used this app because it was free and how it gave medical definitions and sentence examples to understand more complicated words, medical terms, Latin words, etc. Now, it is all buying biased to fill out the description and make it relatable/understandable; it’s disappointing. The information was mostly accurate and sometimes reasonable, but now it's the bare minimum with definitions that are not helpful. To boot, you have no clue if the info you buy will help further define the word and actually help; it's not worth buying to make sure. Even for $2.99 an add-on, there are plenty of free sources that still provide info. Good luck, developers, but I'm out and will be encouraging others to do the same. Now, it seems no different than apps on their last leg to make a buck.

Love It!. This is my favorite app and I keep it on my Home Screen so I have the easiest access to it all the time. It’s very easy to use and gives all the information about a word anyone needs to make it part of their everyday vocabulary! If everyone had this app we’d all be smarter, way more articulate and a lot more interesting to talk too!! Language is a powerful tool and the dictionary and books are the vehicle to get all of us anywhere we dream of going!

I hate to do this..... Alright....I do NOT write reviews. But this time.....I feel like someone needs to read this. This app could be the best dictionary app on the inter-webs. I use it every day, and I just feel like the definitions and overall information I get about the words I look up are fantastic. But no matter how good the content is, my experience with the app is absolutely ruined by the many bugs and general issues I experience while using it. How many times can it possibly crash? Why when I select a word based on auto-fill suggestions does the definition refuse to load? Such potential, such a disappointment in so many ways. Fix a tiny handful of things and this is the best dictionary app there is, by far.

DICTIONARY. I absolutely love referencing the Dictionary for the myriad bullets readily at my disposal: pronunciations (preferred and secondary). Varied definitions and accompanying examples, synonyms, word origins, etc. Recently, however, the Dictionary could not locate a few requested words, and I am quite perplexed by this since the words I searched for are definitely legitimate. Perhaps this is a simple glitch that can be easily corrected. In spite of not finding a few words of choice, my 5 star rating holds firm because it is, nonetheless, a phenomenal tool even though I do miss the ANTONYMS. Hoping they can be restored!

From Ralph D. Fiorenza, retired law-enforcement officer:. In my work, I have often been challenged to both speak and write reports succinctly and accurately. It has always been my effort to convey my thoughts most clearly to others. In the process, I regularly make an effort to utilize a sound vocabulary, hence I delve into dictionaries and thesauruses. I make use all the media that can enhance my speech - and especially my writing. While there is always room for improvement, I take specific pains to avoid being pretentious and redundant. For all of this, I owe much to Merriam-Webster in making myself better understood.

An odd issue. I’ve purchased all of the upgrades for the app and have been enjoying its content for years. Over this time I have amassed a fair quantity of “favorited” words, likely numbering the hundreds. Whether this fact has anything to do with the issue I am unsure, however I cannot scroll through my favorites list. The app simply appears to not recognize my input, and will only list the first few words, leaving me with a limited selection of vernacular only starting with “A”. This is quite annoying. Are there any ways in which to fix this issue? I have already attempted to re-download the app. Many thanks.

Bias articles & definitions. This app used to be my go-to as a teacher, however I have noticed a serious bias over the last few years. This bias is so obvious that I now use examples from these articles & definitions to demonstrate bias for my students. I find that any term that can be defined, article that can written, or example that can be provided with a progressive bias has been published on this app without the opposing viewpoint. The most recent example of this is the article explaining the term “self-own”. Only the refs who botched the infamous non-call in the NFL playoffs could miss the bias of these examples. Your app has become a wonderful example for a teacher to show students that they must discern the purpose of the author for each & every article they read, even with something as seemly innocuous as a dictionary app.

I absolutely love the app but ... but i want it to have a vocabulary builder as well. For example, when i search an apple and i want it to automatically put the word, apple in the builder ( of course it would be nice if it also has options in the setting that we can turn off that function and not to put in the builder when the function is on but i already knew the word so that i can customize my voca builder easily ) I would definitely pay extra for this builder. Thank you for making such an amazing app.

Upgrade works - a little patience helps. Generally I have liked this app. I originally gave a negative review regarding paying for upgrades. After that review the developer contacted me and helped me through the problems. Truth be told had I had a bit more patience looking through the app I'd have found the contact info and saved time and aggravation. On their behalf I note they contacted me quickly and very graciously walked me through my "operator error." There are still some rare missing medical words but mostly this app is well worth it. Kudos! for the support

“Word’s Greatest App”. I’ve been using this app for many years now and have found it to be one of the most useful apps available in the app store. It’s terrific on so many levels; a great source for definitions but also for pronunciations of all sorts of words. For instance, it’s wonderful to find the correct pronunciation of a never-before-heard Irish name and for that French phrase you’ve never been quite sure how to roll off your tongue. The thesaurus is a dinosaur collection so useful in finding the exact word needed in writing or rhyming. Thank you so much for this app!

The old format was much better.. I liked the old format much better than what you have now. Please go back. Apple does the same thing that you do always trying to outdo themselves. When you’re here on a good format which you had before you should stop. I liked the old format much better than what you have now. Please go back. Apple does the same thing that you do always trying to outdo themselves. When you’re here on a good format which you had before you should stop.

Unprofessional, unscholarly. A dictionary is supposed to be a guide and reference for scholarly and academic purposes. It’s frustrating to be in a library, (with your device on silent) looking up terms using this app, only to have it abruptly interrupt the silence with the wretched blaring of one of those trashy, obnoxious, cheap, simple-minded gambling app advertisements. I understand this app having visual advertisements in order to generate profit. However, now that I’m aware that this app will vomit out the most appalling of sounds while in use, I will be deleting this app. A dictionary, paper or electronic, is used as a reference for accurately using English vocabulary. If it’s to be used in an environment or setting reflective of its intended use (i.e. a library) why on earth would it be programmed to suddenly regurgitate such obscene and abhorrent noises?

Dictionary. Having used & been quite satisfied w/this app since it first came out I was unprepared for the egregious error I saw this morning when checking on the definition/word usage for “retribution.” Seeing the word, “deserts” vs. “desserts” in the definition/explanation of the word usage for “retribution” stopped me cold! I hope “Dictionary” will make the necessary correction(s) to this entry (& any other(s) that may be necessary) & in the future check & double-check, & if necessary, triple check the entries in this invaluable tool that so many people depend upon.

Ad tracking. Revised: the developer explained that what I described was a bug that had already been corrected in a new update. There is now an option to opt-out in settings. Thanks for being responsive. Not happy at all about the ad tracking which, because of a pop up window today that blocks access unless you “agree,” you can’t refuse or turn off. I wouldn’t have the right to complain if I was using the free version, but I paid for ad-free.

Good but not great. As a law student, I have to look up words and meanings constantly so I use this app quite a bit because of its convenience. I would give it 5 stars, but it often does not have legal terms or definitions so I have to just google something more often than not if I want to know what it means. As a law student, I would love to see a legal dictionary added to the app. You have a medical dictionary as well as a science dictionary...why not one for the law field?? For an app that can be easily replaced with a simple Google search, I have no need to purchase a Pro version of a “definition database” app that doesn’t even have what I need most of the time. Until you add a law dictionary you guys will not be receiving any funds from my broke college student self.

A Great Tool for Anyone!. This is a great service that cost nothing. Even as a senior I continue to enjoy a lifetime of learning. It is an absolute must for high school and college students, and young adults to increase their vocabulary and presence in school and the workplace. HINT: Grab a fresh notebook and write the words down. I review the most recent words daily and only add the definitions if I can’t remember them after a week. It also helps to create a sentence using your newly learned words.

Great app. Love the app but review process is ridiculous. This is my third and final attempt to write a review. I hit send and it deletes it or the nick name is taken and the entire review is deleted. New review : HEADS UP - if you have iPhone 7XR the sound is disabled for the Pronunciation feature if you turn off the ringer on the phone. This was not an issue on older iPhone models. I freaked out when I could not hear the pronunciation. I deleted the app , reloaded etc. and still no sound. Finally I thought to try turning ringer on and sound was restored to the app.

Very useful app. It does what it is supposed to, and really well. The thesaurus is a nice feature I like to utilize a bit too. The only thing keeping it from 5 stars in my opinion, is to all the option of entering a couple words or phrase or description, that would in turn give you words that mean or are related to what you entered. For example, if I enter “at odds”, it could give me results like “against, opposite, in disagreement” etc. Like for those moments you do not understand a phrase or forget the specific word but know what it means. That’d be great to have as an additional feature. Other than that, great app.

Pretty ok for a dictionary.. I have a hard time in general finding good ops for my iPad and dictionary is one of the little scores I’ve gotten. A lot of it is website stuff so I can’t use that because it’s restricted or no WiFi. The sizing is like a phone but on an iPad and that overall bothers me just because I like full-screen apps. Me and my friend use the thesaurus and dictionary for a writing camp we do so that is very helpful to have a dictionary/thesaurus in my pocket. I also enjoy how it is blended, you get a 2-4-1 deal. There are a few glitches and bugs but overall it is a good app. It doesn’t have to be great as long as it works.

Disappointed. While using this dictionary, which I have been doing quite frequently, I’ve found that I have been cut off from complete lists of words that I need spellings for do to ads at the bottom of the page. While I understand the need to for advertising, the ads should disappear after a certain length of time so the user can find what information or spellings are needed. Most disappointed and dissatisfied 😩

To the person or persons writing the slideshows. Honestly some of these slideshow topics have been absolutely /fascinating/. I’ve read probably every one written in the last two months since I discovered them. I love that the core of them are always language based as they should be in a dictionary blog. Some of my favorites have been the recent “one of these words is not exactly like the other”, “learning to love the wine you’re with” and “words you didn’t know you’re using wrong”. Great content. I’m a big fan!

Baby Boomer Gold. While many use this for school, from K to Infinity, I cannot express the frustration of not being able to recall the words you’ve flawlessly used for over 60 years. The Thesaurus is my golden crutch many, many times a day. I could not write a coherent and intelligent sounding document without it. My co-workers have finally figured out why I write better than I sound when I have to stop and search my brain for words that are obviously misfiled never to be found, but when I write a contract or letter, I’m the genius in the room with this app.

Love the voice pronunciation feature!!!. This app is on the first page of apps on my iPhone because I use it so much. I love how it offers sample sentences and many definitions of the words we are checking on. But my very favorite part of it that I use the most is the voice pronunciations. It isn’t always easy to figure out what those little characters mean in a regular dictionary, so it is a really great feature just to be able to tap the little “pronunciation” icon and actually HEAR the word. Bravo!! This is a great app!!

Pretty good, wish the widgets were better. I got the app because it’s pretty comprehensive about the etymology of words, which is something important to me. I also appreciate the synonyms. One thing I wish about the widgets is that it’d be nice if the four-tile widget for the word of the day actually displayed the definition, instead of having to click on it to open the app and see what the definition is. What’s the point of that widget if you have to open the app in order for the word of the day to actually be useful?

Dictionary App. This dictionary app is pretty good. It explains definitions quite nicely and clearly but there are a few things that erase that extra half star. 1) There are ads. Ads are just gonna happen in pretty much any app. I believe it’s still an inconvenience, mostly because I came to look up a definition of a word not to see ads. The good thing about that is they’re only about 5 seconds long. 2) It does seem to push things on you. I won’t go in depth but I feel like they do push certain things on me. It could be just my opinion though. 3) They don’t have all the words on it. Now I’m not talking about swear words and such; those are understandable! I had looked up clinomania (extreme desire to stay in bed) and it didn’t show up. Things like that. 4) It would be awesome to use it without internet! To conclude, I like this app. I would not use it as much as I do if these hiccups were too bad. They are my opinions, just suggestions. Would recommend. 4.5 stars

My Go To. This app is my go to for everything in writing. I write a lot! Sometimes for public pieces … sometimes for greetings, but mostly for Social Media. It is not enough to use a common phrase or word. The Thesaurus is invaluable for crafting a writing piece to convey a message using a not so common word, but adaptively relevant. It offers me a way to connect with the reader and invite them to feel something. Thesaurus is my favorite feature in this app … hands down! The Dictionary is a gem when a word comes across my vision that I’m not familiar with and I’m interested in how the writer or speaker is intending to communicate. Most of the time I ask Seri how to spell something. When it comes to word meanings, this app has been a wealth of nourishment in helping me understand my world through words. If you enjoy writing, this is a crazy satisfying tool to have in your resource tool belt.

Voice dictation. The app is fine. It’s easy to use but they completely made a huge poo-poo in the last update. No one is going to favorite a dictionary definition. The voice dictation is absolute junk. Completely destroy it and start from scratch and make it useful. It is completely trash. Make the voice dictation better. Why would you keep stacking up all your searches and then when you want to go back have to press the back arrow like 25 times to get rid of all of them. The latest update almost ruined the app. I used it all the time before but this update did some major damage to the functionality. The voice dictation has always been a huge problem though. Make it better!

Need to fix the audio pronunciation - upsettingly tied to phone’s audio settings. Hello, I have noticed the pronunciation feature no longer works. While scrolling through other users’ reviews in Apple’s App Store, I found a developer response to a particular review on March 26th, stating the app had updated to only provide an audio pronunciation when the audio or ringer is off. However, I do not believe that makes sense as the user self selects into tapping the pronunciation feature to hear the audio version whether or not the ringer is off or on, so the audio will not be intrusive as it is expected given the user’s immediate environment. Could you please look into allowing the audio pronunciation to work if tapped, regardless of volume settings. Looking forward to hearing back. Thanks.

Oh, What Fun!. I cannot exist without a dictionary at hand ... and noodling around this morning I checked out the Word of the Day page after ferreting out the definition I needed. THE WOTD pages included in other dictionary apps I’ve tried (and most, if not all, have one) included primarily words already in my vocabulary. THIS page was a rollicking excursion into esoterica. It seems that we’re teaching less and less grammar in public schools as the years pass ... and I think the grammar page would be of particularly good use to a plethora of people ... lay people (John and Joan Q. Public) and news casters every where.

The. Best.. This might be my favorite app and I’m not sure if that’s a sad reflection on me, a 28 year old college student, or a positive reflection on how fantastic the creators of this app are. I absolutely love the feature to save words that you look up and I just discovered that you can take a quiz with these words to learn them. With how much reading and writing I’ve done during Covid lockdowns, the list is quite full. Thank you for making something that is so truly useful that I can’t imagine going back to a paper dictionary.

Love it!. I love this app and I use it all the time! I did pay a couple dollars to remove the ads and also upgrade it so I could access everything but that was definitely worth it to me. I’m trying to improve my vocabulary and there is a “word of the day” where a random word is chosen for you to learn each day. This has really helped me and I use it daily! I highly recommend this app and if you like it, I also recommend that you spend the couple dollars to upgrade everything! Hope this was helpful to everyone!

Love love love this app so much!!!!!. First let me tell you I use this app every single day of my life. This app is great to to help you learn new words, increase your vocabulary, and just makes you sound smarter. I love the favorite feature about this app that lets you save your favorite words and definitions, but the thing about the favorite feature is that for some reason it gets deleted or reset or something that makes me lose my words I’m not sure if it is my device or my phone but that’s the only annoying part about this app but it’s generally a very very good app

Politically motivated redefinitions. Skip this app and go straight to merriam Webster for unrevised and neutral definitions. I've noticed this throughout many dictionary apps. When defining certain ideological words they alter the definition to be more favorable, when defining other ideological terms they alter them to sound less favorable. Then they push words like "intersectionalsm" as the word of the day and visual word of the day and paint it in a light that presents it as truth when there is much debate about the merits and motivations of a word with such strong neo-marxist underpinnings. It appears there is an ideologically driven effort to change the definitions and meanings of words to attempt to circumvent the truth about their historical meanings and uses so as to bring the underlying ideologies into public favor and prevent dissidents of that same ideology from using the original definitions as a point of debate.

Decline of once excellent app. These ads are so intrusive and distracting I’m going to remove this app after loyal use for 5+ years which is sad. It once was a great app, but now it is terrible b/c of the bold, in your face ads that literally startle you while researching a word!! I just can’t stand it anymore nor can my cardiac function. I’ll find another source for dictionary & thesaurus. Was loyal, but if I’m forced to purchase an app in order to remove ads anyways, I will likely look to purchase another just on principle & who knows...may find better options elsewhere.

Why remove a feature?. Origin tab was removed. Why? Obviously the data were all there, so what could be the motivation? This significantly diminishes the utility of the app. My phone has a ‘definition’ dictionary in the odd circumstance I don’t know a word—I’m sure most people have this. The summary origin on the definition page is rarely substantive. There really isn’t any explanation for this other than to irritate people. If it doesn’t come back within the next update or so, I’ll delete the app and just use google.

Love the app but... I used this app everyday to look up words i stumbled upon in a day to day basis. I even bought all the upgrades and was very thrilled at the examples and scientific meanings of words, it was stupendous! However I noticed that isn’t the case anymore, I don’t have adds, I have the offline dictionary available, but all of the content upgrades are no where to be found. It’s as if I paid for the product and out of no where the perks that made the app amazing were mostly taken away. I’ve googled and tried to restore the purchase but nothing. I’m very unhappy would love to give the app a 5 star but this bug has dissatisfied me, specially since it’s a paid add on.

Ditto nary. App gets stuck all the time. Has been unable to get any new words a day as the App has been stuck and not working for a week. This is not the first time this App has gotten stuck! This App continues to have this problem and will not refresher when touching the target in this App to do this! Tells me new word of day is here in App but App does not show new word only "Refresh" is there and it does not work! This App continues to be glitchy as the word of day will work sometimes and other times not. I wonder if it is because I will not buy there upgrade?????????

low quality and unacceptable. I decided to download this app on my iPad pro but when I opened the app there was a tiny screen the rest surrounded by black. How could this be even seen as acceptable it couldn’t even fill the whole screen! So I figured it was a bug with the orientation so I tried to move it to the landscape view but that didn’t work either. Instead it stayed in portrait mode so the view was sideways. Afterwards I decided to just search up a word but the ads were unbearable seriously if I wanted an advertisement app I wouldn’t have downloaded this. And don’t even get me started on the missing definitions and words. For those who are looking for a better dictionary app I recommend Merriam Webster it allows you to remove ads, it’s better quality, and has more words and definitions. Hope this was helpful
