Let's be frank. Match fishes for you by creating fake profiles and then "liking" your profile or sending and email that just says "hi". All in in effort to get you to pay. If you do you will find all those profiles "unavailable" even the ones that just messaged you. Beware of Russian hackers who hide behind profiles of beautiful people and want you to email (email is always in the profile) them, and also beware of anyone wanting you to jump on google plus or Kik. These are many times scammers in Africa who will send prepackaged responses and then try to hit you up for money. Other then that, if you can find someone on Match that's great. As a paying customer I didn't get very far. Oh and make sure you cancel weeks in advance if you don't want ridiculous charges on your account.
When I first started this site, things seemed pretty ok, I started to see what it had to offer and I wasn't disappointed. However the longer I've had this the more it became lazier and uncaring. I posted in my profile that I wanted my matches to have photos before they show up on my matches, instead I keep getting ones that have no photos at all.
I had a subscription for 6 months. In that time, had very few notifications or alerts to people viewing my profile, liking, or messaging. I did have some activity, just not a lot and that could easily be because of me and/or my area. I'm fine with that. However, the day after I closed my account is what I'd like to address. When I woke up the day after I closed my account, I had over 60 likes and interests and 40 messages. When I looked at it, it was all dated that day and the day after and just said "someone" is interested, liked, or sent me a message. It was a handful of locations having about 10 or so from each one. Today it still says that, but the dates have changed to over the last few months and more variety is given to the ages and locations. I contacted match and my question was, was my profile messed up so that I wasn't getting any alerts or messages during my subscription or was this a pathetic ploy to get me to renew my subscription. The answer I got was, my profile was not messed up. Asked me if there was anything else they could help me with and I stated so it must be a pathetic attempt to get someone to renew their subscription then. They didn't answer and just said if there was nothing else they could help me with then they were signing off the chat. I have screenshots of the number of "new alerts and messages," but of course coincidentally I can't share that on here. Give it a shot if you want, but just don't fall for their trickery to try to get you to keep renewing. You are better than that!
You can't view and communicate with your OWN favorite list in the app. You cannot hide profiles of people you are not interested in with the app which is a privilege that comes with a paid subscription...so the app essentially does not honor features available to paid subscribers. I am not a fan of the app or the service.
So far I have been talking with some very nice men. That recently at the boat two weeks ago this gentleman started talking to me he was very nice very polite informed me about his money we talked he asked for my email. We communicate by email. Then only knowing this man for two weeks never meeting him face-to-face he asked me if I could give him $500. I told him I didn't have that kind of money. He then turned around and asked me if I could take out a loan to help him get back to the states. I just want to warn the women out there and the man be careful with your heart and your mind and watch out for those little red flags. Don't ever forget who you are and why you're here.
Always trying to get you to "upgrade." They don't match you based on your preferences. I was always matched outside of age group - even give gender. Got "matches" for women! I don't date women. Not selective and found lots of scammers. Match only take your $$ and dumps anyone on you. Joke.
Not with the money. I thought paying for an account would weed out fake profiles, but that hasn't been the case. Also, even when you subscribe they keep hounding you to pay more. It's annoying, frustrating, and not making dating any more fun.
Not only is match filled with fake users who fish for your contact info (and match does nothing to get rid of them) but when the ap/site glitches and I report it to match they take forever to respond, do nothing to fix the problem and take no responsibility or offer any apology for undermining my attempt that meet someone. Don't pay for this.
Not only is it difficult to do a sorted search of who you are looking for, but it is IMPOSSIBLE to cancel a paid subscription. I've been trying for months.
Scam. They will continuously charge your credit card and will not provide answers when you call. Customer service is in India and they are not trained to say anything beyond the standard "sorry, can not refund you. Will send you an email for you to try it yourself". I am most angry because I discovered that match was using my profile and information as a featured profile long after I deleted it! And my deleted profile still comes up in a google search! I never authorized my information to be used or shared like that and I can't figure out how to talk to anyone that can help with that issue. The app is also just bad- It matched me up with people way over and under my preferred age group and with people much farther away than my preferred distance. I live in a huge city with a vibrant daring scene- I expected to have a better experience on a service that costs so much money. Unfortunately it was worse than the free apps. Do yourself a favor and download bumble or tinder instead of Match. I promise it's better than spending your money on this.
The commercials TV say that 25,000 people join Match every day. I think a third of these are fake profiles with stolen pictures, and I see nothing being done about it. I thought they were suppose to submit profiles for approval before being published. Same with photos that have email addresses photoshopped into them. Is this what I paid for?? I spend half my time reporting these instead of actually trying to meet someone.
You are locked into their idiotic examples to begin a conversation. Used to be quite good but has definitely gone way downhill. The same woman always pop up. Messaging has become difficult I am leaving... going to many of the others sites available Match, you were good while you lasted and then some Match corporate idiot blew your brains out.
Easy to use and I'm able to check my daily picks everyday on my phone.
It doesn't let me do anything it keeps crashing when I view my profile or other profiles. iPhone 5
Horrible service. No one logs on. They match you w people who don't match your criteria. Total waste of time and money. Awful service. Tried to cancel and they said I have to go through apple and that match gets no money from apple. Total scam. I want a refund.
What a waste of my money. All the people who like me are over 40 years old. As others have stated there's no way they can accurately match you with someone ... "he likes to read too!" Wow!!! A real freakin match made in heaven. My profile has very few views. Not paying extra to be viewed!! I hate the email notifications there's no way to turn them off. Will make sure and cancel my account when my 3 months is up as I will NOT be renewing and I know there's no way out of the contract.
If you enjoy being harassed, this is the app for you! If you're not interested in a man on this site, you better take the extra couple minutes to go to his profile and block him because something about this app makes men crazy. If you don't reply to their message, you can expect you're going to get a nasty one the next day or so because they're angry you didn't reply. This is not something that happened in one occurrence with one particular man, but every time I login! Oh and don't expect your 'daily matches' to fit any of the criteria that you filled in, in fact don't even bother wasting your time filling it in at all because I'm 100 percent sure that they don't take it into consideration. I tried this app because I thought maybe if men were paying for an app they might actually be looking for something real rather than a one night stand, like the men on tinder and OkCupid. But instead the men on here are desperate and angry. It's not worth the 20 dollars a month to get insulted simply because you don't find someone to be your type. Trust me just use the free apps and take your chances
This is the sadder version of tinder pretty much. Except you're paying at least $60 for this, and tinder lets you weed out all the weird middle aged men who "just want to hook up." No thank you. Plus the design is just clunky and difficult to use. Also, "Grab their attention by paying $2 every time you see someone interesting!" Just no. Biggest waste of my money ever. Save your patience and paycheck and just use tinder or okcupid. EDIT: I canceled my membership, a solid week before the auto-renewal date, and they completely IGNORED that and billed me another $74.97. I tried submitting a customer service inquiry TWICE and both times it returned with an error. I am extremely frustrated that I wasted $75 on it in the first place, but now they're making me waste that much a second time?! PLEASE FIX THIS!!!!
Almost everyone on here is a robot, and they do not specify about automatically billing your account. You pay the month by month option FOR ONE MONTH then they start charging you for three months at a time with no way to get your money back. TERRIBLE APP AND TERRIBLE BUSINESS MODEL.
