Wow!. This app is absolutely amazing. I work at a hospital with a lot of Hispanics and this app helps out a lot. It is one of the most comprehensive apps I've seen. You'll be amazed by how much vocabulary is here. Lastly, thank you so much for making it available on iPad!!

Decent, but still needs work.. This app looked promising, since I have not had formal Spanish education, but have some comprehension from exposure. It has many phrases that are useful and broken down by system, but the organization of the information can be improved, especially if you are going to be using it while speaking. Unfortunately, since it's just grouped by system, it's only useful for reference. There should be an option to organize it by specialty. For example, by having all the OB/Gyn related questions grouped together and divided by topics such as post-partum check up or gyn history. Also some sections currently are not comprehensive enough. Perhaps if the developers think of how one would use this app for each specialty, then it would be more useful in practice. Hope to see updates soon.

Brilliant Idea!. As a member of the board of directors of a free clinic, we are constantly working on ways to communicate with the large Spanish speaking population that we see. Having just downloaded this application, I'm excited to see that it will be able to make a huge difference in communicating with patients. Time will no longer need to be wasted thumbing through a Spanish medical terms/phrases book. This means more time that can be spent with patients and less time trying to break down communication barriers!

Great app! and a note to critics.... This is a great app! I'm an ER doc and about 20 to 30% of my patients or their families speak only Spanish. I can usually get an interpreter, but it really slows down patient flow. This app is really a boon to my practice. Patients appreciate it when I can do my own talking (although my listening is pretty slow) and it really improves my efficiency. I have a rudimentary knowledge of Spanish, which is a great help. SOME NOTES TO CRITICS: For critics who want an auditory form: Spanish is an extremely phonetic language--it is not like trying to figure out how a word in Gaelic might be pronounced. This is not a course is basic Spanish! It presumes that you have some pre-existing knowledge of the language. For "Do NOT buy - Not happy:" It is obvious that THIS REVIEWER HAS NO KNOWLEDGE OF EITHER MEDICINE OR SPANISH. If he/she can't understand the questions and he thinks they are pointless, and he thinks it is unhelpful to "any medical personal" (personnel?), it is only because he is totally ignorant about both medicine and Spanish. And to the medical interpreter, why in heaven's name are you looking at a $.99 app that is clearly for beginners when you are an expert? I certainly hope that you know everything is this app. I am certain that the developers are actively seeking constructive criticism, since they are DEVELOPERS, so don't waste readers' time or diss the developer with inane and irrelevant criticisms.

Overall happy with the app. I work for a veterinarian and want to learn as much spanish as I can and apply it to work everyday. The majority of this app transfers well to the vet world for anyone in a similar situation. I use this app in conjunction with my "Spanish for Veterinarians" book and between the two a considerable amount of info if covered. My only complaint is that for the price I wish there was more information. For a 5.99 app I expected there to be more sections and more translations than there are, however this app is filled with tons of useful phrases and I'm happy with it. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to learn spanish in the vet or human medicine fields.

Very useful targeted app. Medical Spanish is one of those necessary and to the point type of apps. Not trying to do everything, but do something that's needed very well. Looking forward to having audio as backup.

Great new features. I think this is a great app for the price. The only thing that I have found to be a problem is not being able to slow down speech on words I find a little difficult to pronounce. But I still have found this more than useful in the hospital and clinic.

Very useful but audio went away. It was very useful but I used it near a Bluetooth device and the audio stopped working. Can’t get it back

Fabulous app!. I work in a clinic that's 90% Hispanic - and this has been really helpful in obtaining both the history and physical. My classmates and I've been looking forever for something like this. Worth every penny of it!

Extremely Useful!. This app is extremely useful during quick patient interview sessions - it loads very fast and the menu system is intuitive. The interface is also super easy to use. I am definitely recommending it to all my friends!

Very high quality app. After evaluating all my choices for an app to help me speak to my Spanish speaking patients I found this one to easily be the best. I am extremely satisfied with this app and can tell you it is definitely worth the money! Plus it works perfectly on my iPad!

Extremely easy to use!. This app is extremely convenient and easy to use. The organization of everything works perfectly, letting me carry out an entire patient exam without being distracting. I found myself using this app everyday, especially to quickly look up a word or command that I just can't remember. Excellent app - No wifi needed!. I really like Medical Spanish for its user-friendly layout (even easy for a computer dope for me), but the Audio makes it so much better. The voice is really clear and enunciates well, so nothing sounds mumbled. Bookmarks are good too, so I can get to a phrase quickly. The app works perfectly without wifi!

Medical Spanish App of my dreams!. Incredible app. I can't recommend it highly enough. Amazingly comprehensive. I'm a pediatric neurologist with a fairly specialized vocabulary, but was able to find almost everything I needed. It even reads the phrases to you !!!! ( tap the phrase and a little drawer opens that let's you add it to favorites or have it read outloud). It's well organized with a decent search engine. I feel so much better equipped to communicate with my Spanish speaking patients.

estupendo. Another great program which reminds me of why I got an iPhone in the first place. I have been learning spanish for a while, but some terms, especially medical are harder to learn than others. Worth every dollar spent. I highly recommend it to anyone who comes across Spanish speaking patients on a daily basis and isn't a native speaker.

Wow!!!. I am a fluent in Spanish and currenty taking my certification to become a certified interpreter. I got to say this app is the BEST I seen. The books I spent $70 dollars on don't even compare to this. I love the search tool bcz it matches to words spelled close to what you wrote. I love it!!! And the other great feature is that no wi-fi is required.....I would suggest to add more technical terminalogy like diseases.

Very useful,. This app is the cat's a*s! Despite my very basic Spanish, I've rescued my attendings nearly daily when we needed to ask important questions on rounds in the hospital, saving our interpreters and patients a lot of time. audio is articulate and clear, making this app the best 7 bucks I've spent. as far as improvements, although there's a great list of verbs, I would like to see a section on conjugation. otherwise, it's thorough for any healthcare provider.

Excellent psychiatric content. I am a psychiatrist and this is the best content I have seen for psychiatric Spanish including apps and books. This app includes a separate section for the mental status exam in addition to the psychiatric section which is pretty extensive. It also has a section on directions on how to take medications. Most medical Spanish apps or book's psychiatry section is pretty basic; mostly intended for the use by a primary care provider but I found this content specific and thorough enough for a psychiatrist needs. Only problem I have is I don't know enough Spanish yet to be able to understand a patient's response to a question lol. I mostly use the app to try to follow along with the interpreter during the interview or help my Spanish translators that may not be familiar with some psychiatric terms/vocabulary. But I'm learning! It would be helpful if it included a dictionary or verb conjugator so when you click on a word you could learn. So unfortunately this app is definitely not for a beginner.

Excellent medical Spanish program. I'm a MS-I at UCLA and I routinely see patients in the free clinic where I volunteer who speak only Spanish. Although I have a decent grasp of the language, my medical Spanish is lacking. Browsing through the program, it looks as though this will be extremely handy. Every so often I review a few of the phrases to build my vocabulary. Hopefully with more practice, I'll only have to use this as a reference instead of as a survival guide!

Really helpful application. I have some spanish conversation skills, but not much medical spanish vocabulary. So, this app is great for learning and as a reference to help bridge that gap. All the phrases for the history and physical exam are there in a really accessible manner. Now while going to school I can easily practice important questions to ask, building up speed and vocabulary. Other important phrases are simple to find on the go using the search. So, if I forget a specific phrase it takes just a second to find it. This app is definitely super helpful.

Excellent!. Just downloaded the app and started looking through it. It has everything that I need! I've taken many spanish classes over the years but sometimes have trouble putting it all together when communicating with my patients, this application gives you every medical phrase you would need for day to day interactions. I will always have it with me while at work.

Crucial App. I have some basic Spanish language skills, but it can still be hard to speak with patients about some specific things. This application helps me supplement and fill gaps in my knowledge of Medical terms in Spanish. This app is crucial if you work with hispanic patients.

Este app es muy Caliente!. I don't speak Spanish, so as a medical resident, this app has been indispensable for rounding. Using it on a daily basis, I can get the meat and potatoes from my patients in the clinic, the ER, and the wards. The app does have a gazillion things or phrases one would need, and they're all organized nicely. Overall excellent, very user friendly, w/ sweet audio for correct pronunciation (which helps people like me) - even my attendings were impressed. Outstanding. As someone very familiar with Spanish, but very rusty, this app will be indispensable. Even includes medical exams and the phrases we need to use during them. I will be doing some rotations along the border this summer and this app will ensures that I will be keeping my iPad by my side constantly. Great app!

Vital app!. This app is the most comprehensive app when it comes to medical Spanish phrases. So easy to use and has all the phrases listed in sequential order with the respective conversation. Like if I'm asking if there's pain? - the next question would be where? Then how much pain? So well made and the search tool is nearly flawless. I highly recommend this app for all medical professionals especially those in the increasingly saturated Spanish speaking areas

major bug. just bought this app and the audio does not work for my ipad1. Unless you know how to pronounce spanish as written in spanish this app is totally useless. If the developer emails back with a fix I will write a new review, otherwise I would not recommend this app for ipad users. they have provided a fix and now the audio works, so i have updated my rating

Great app... sort of. Like others said, it could benefit from audio & bookmarking, but otherwise plenty of phrases and very useful. Update: When I upgraded to 2.0, the bookmarking worked, but the audio didn't... at least I thought. So, I reinstalled and still didn't hear anything. Fortunately, I finally put on headphones & it works. Wish it worked on speakerphone.

Fantastic. I just downloaded the app and I think that it is fantastic. I work in Radiology and the phrases they provide are exact and accurate, ones that I use everyday. I can not wait to get to work and try it out. The only drawback is that I wish I could slow down the speakers speech rate - it seems so fast to me. I am sure with time, I will be able instruct and understand my patients better.

Worth Every Penny!. Working at the cardiology division, I barely have enough time to check my iphone... let alone an app. However, since I'm having to see 15 patients within the span of 2 hours, communications can sometimes become a bigger challenge. Unfortunately, I have limited knowledge in Spanish, and many of my patients are of Hispanic descent. This app remains open on my phone during rounds every single day. This has helped me tremendously with my patients, especially when giving instructions. The search function is cool and comes in handy often. I was quite surprised at how most of the phrases were common and used daily throughout the Hospital. I actually go through this app on my ride back home, and have learned quite a bit of spanish within a few days. Only thing better would be having an actual Spanish translator following you around all day. I highly recommend this to anyone in the health field.

No sound. Audio is not working, and I can't seem to find a support area. When you click on their "provided support link" it takes you to their website, but then does not offer you any support! Maybe it's b/c I have an iphone 4S? I don't know. Be wary if interested in purchasing this app.

liked it. I found this helpful with the subcategories of different systems. I think its more for people who've taken spanish in the past and useful for review of pertinet questions. You don't need audio if you already know how to pronounce the words as a previous post suggested.

PGY-I impressions after a month of use in the wards. I've been using this app for about a month now in a predominately spanish speaking environment where finding translators in the dead of night can often be a problem. I usually glance over this app before I see my patient to make sure I have specific vocabulary and phrases down. Over a few weeks, I've found myself not asking for a translator as often and communicating more effectively with my spanish speaking patients. And for the times I am stumped, the search feature has been a time saver. I forgot the word for "dizzy" so I punched it into the search function and not only did I get the word, it had the proper phrase.

pronunciations. I think the program is well organized and will be very useful while interviewing patients. However, I think a great update would be to add audio with pronunciations. Even though the most important thing will be to get the point across it would still be a bonus to sound more professional by not mispronouncing the words.

Very well organized!. This app is a fantastic help when working with spanish speaking patients. As a new app it certainly has things to add on as it evolves over time but is very well organized, thorough, and easy to use! It is a good study tool as well to have during down time to practice Spanish phrases. I especially like that a category was added specifically for different verbs as it is often hard to use medical spanish resources without having a baseline knowledge of verbs and their conjugations... my only suggestion is perhaps being able to click on each verb and be led to a list of the proper conjugations for each for those that do not know how to conjugate. I look forward to seeing where how this app improves over time, Great Work!

A great product gets better, thank you!. I am a Hospitalist in a community that has a large Spanish speaking population. Of the iPhone Medical Spanish Apps this is my favorite. The organization is very good. It has a very large number of phrases with both written and spoken (audio) translations.

No audio. I bought it because I wanted to hear his the words are pronounced. But there’s no audio. Save the money and learn via google translate.

Rn in an ER setting. I have used this app so many times and everytime it works awesome!!! I have utilized it with multiple doctors to assist with their assessments n h&p's n i think I have help sell about 15 installs of this app! We all seem to love it!!! Extremely helpful n triage and basic physical assessment of the acutely I'll patient!!! Love the ability to bookmark the phrases I use most!

Room for improvement. Decent app owever I dislike the apps input of names in to phrases so when talking to a patient It uses multiple different names as an introductions : would be better if the caregiver names were removed because my name is not “Sita “ but according to the app it’s one of my many names it says to the patient

Outstanding. I am not a medical professional, but I am a Spanish speaker who cares about helping medical professionals choose good learning materials that will help them become more advanced speakers and better professionals. First of all, the recording quality of the audio itself is excellent and the pronunciation will help professionals develop good pronunciation habits. Secondly, the organization of material is intuitive and not overwhelming. The level of usage and grammar is appropriate for patient communications, without being intimidating to the dedicated intermediate level student of Spanish. I found a few minor flaws in the translations of words that have several meanings or definitions. More review by native speakers would be helpful. For example, translating "the form" in the context of a medical intake is probably about "la solicitud" and not the physique or physical condition of the patient. Except for a few such minor flaws, that the developers can identify and fix, this program is on the right track and will be a great review and learning resource for English speaking medical professionals.

Use of Medical Spanish. I currently use medical spanish as a second year medical student and am very happy with the update and product. The new pronunciation is awesome and has been very helpful with practicing my spanish. I would highly recommend this product and challenge any other product on the market to meet the quality and accuracy of medical spanish.

Great for professionals who are rusty or don't know any Spanish.. I haven't used this app in the field yet but by just playing around with it I'm really impressed. The playback of phrases have clear diction that allow anyone to understand and repeat. The organization of categories and the types of questions are perfect. I even had my phone on airplane mode and everything worked perfectly! I am not fluent in Spanish and this will definitely be in my toolbox. Thank you so much.

Comprehensive. For the past few months I've been using this app I've found it incredibly helpful as I no longer depend on the interpreters for the majority of my history and physicals - Very well written, very thorough.

Not working. After initially working fine, the app no longer plays the phrases through my iPhone speaker. The app support page is useless.

I thought it was worth it. The phrases are very helpful for nursing for many broad basic assessment topics. however, I think the app may need an update as none of the audio phrases can be played out loud. Would get 4 stars if that was fixed.

Nice app. I find this app pretty useful on a daily basis in the emergency room, and it is helpful. So far, my only problem is the fact that there are not more entries pertaining to pregnancy. For example, what is your due date? Or how far along are you? Or how many pregnancies have you had? I'd like to see an update with more pregnancy related ?'s as well as a bookmark or favorites feature. If those were added, I'd consider this a five star app. EDIT: they quickly added an OBGYN section along with a bunch of other additions, and a huge searchable glossary. Definitely a 5 star app now!

Very very basic spanish. I'm a medical interpreter and thought this app would have more obscure terms. I'm disappointed. I know all the vocab in the app. Reassuring for me but a waste of money. Good if you don't know any Spanish, I guess. Nice to know this app could never get me out of a job. :)

Medical Spanish. The app has partial audio and is miss leading as advertised. It has very little related to dental care which is the reason for my purchase. Not worth the price.

Amazing App. The interface is easy to use and terms are concise and accurate. I've used other language apps and this is by far my favorite. It helps you get what you need right away.

Translator not teacher. Large selection of phrases, but is more likely to be useful as a translator sub rather than a teaching aid. Speech is too fast for me to use as a self teaching aid which was the original intent.

Extremely useful app for physicians. This application is really useful for physicians, physician assistants, nurses, and anyone involved in the medical field who needs to communicate with Spanish-speaking patients. A must-download for anyone in the healthcare industry.

Glossary. Don't know if it's just mine, but the glossary is messed up. It's alphabetically incorrect. Other than that it looks awsome, I'm training to be an interpreter and this will be a huge help.

All you need. Have you ever got stuck trying to give a patient an instruction how to take a medication? Been there and the interpreter is already off the phone. Just take out your iPhone and use medical Spanish to convey your message in seconds in audio. Simply the best. Highly recommended.

Good app, mostly good update. I really like this app for quick reference! The new update finally updates the screen size for the iPhone 5 and makes everything retina-sharp. It's a great update for the iPhone. Unfortunately, on my new iPad Air the app pauses for about 10 seconds on the red speech bubble screen and then crashes.

It's alright. If you are looking to get a good rudimentary grasp of Spanish medical terminology, then this will suffice. Can't really say that it offers more than that. Wish I hadn't spent the full 6.99 for it, though.

Best thing I bought in the apple store, after ultimate guitar lol. I am so happy with this. I was about to buy a book or a cd on Amazon, but this will come in handy. It has all the basics that I need. And even has a conjugation part :) it's cheap and worth it!!!!

Nice app. This app is for people who already know something about Spanish pronunciation, as there is no audio. I would like to see some periopetative directions, help with anesthesia induction, that type of thing. Maybe in future updates.
