Fantastic resource. Great place to learn more about medicines we use in the hospital and conditions. The paper version was a favorite medicine resource, and this resource is even better. I highly recommend it!!!!

Use it Every Day. I love this app. I use it every day at work. I’ve told my colleagues about it and I always recommend it to new grads. People say it’s expensive, but if you bought everything separately, it would be more than twice as much. AND I remind nurses and nursing students that it’s tax deductible!

Needs some work. I have tried to use this app during clinicals and find it frustrating especially since it doesn’t have autocorrect. I wind up looking things up on google because I don’t know the spelling and it does auto correct.

Best purchase ever. I’ve been a licensed nurse for going on 8 years now and I’ve been using this app since my first year. It breaks things down from the perspective of nurses and focuses on things you need to know to assess and teach as well as allows you to look up anything you can think of (medically speaking). I can watch videos of procedures or find a good careplan goal or intervention. It gets confusing just using Google or other apps that aren’t backed by credible sources. This takes away any question.

Horrible. All information is removed the moment you don’t renew. They don’t provide a moment of grace period!

Nurse’s True Companion. Nursing Central is by far one of the best apps to use as a student or in general practice. I speak from experience as a nurse for 40 years and as a nursing instructor for 15 years. It is a wealth of information that easily translates into knowledge necessary for safe, professional nursing practice.

Awesome App. Worth every penny!! Just having access to the drug guide itself makes this app so convenient—no toting around that book everywhere you go!!!

a hidden gem. honestly I couldn’t have survived the past few years of nursing school without this app. when I needed to make med cards the night before clinical, having all the meds in one centralized made studying/prepping much more time efficient and easier. I found that I was able to make care plans more effective when I had this app as I guide. Yes, it even includes rationales.

Bad.. I started taking the NCLEX prep quizzes, and the rationales are absolutely horrible. They make no sense and contradict the question. It makes absolutely literally no sense whatsoever. If you’re looking for a positive outcome, and you list a positive outcome, you get the question wrong and in the explanation it will say it’s wrong because it’s a positive outcome. Do 3 year olds write these quizzes or the rationales?

Good accurate information quick. I First started using the app in Nursing school . It was very helpful. The info is to the point and accurate. It gives you the info you need quick and easy. I find it very helpful and have continued to use the app as an ED nurse!

I used it for 15 months..... I got this app because nursing school highly recommended it. Plus with all the books I had to carry I thought it was worth a try. After 15 months of using it I can safely and confidently say this: don’t bother with this company and get a good nursing drug app like Davis’s Drug Guide for nurses (or just buy the book). This company reels you in by taking advantage of your lack of knowledge. They ‘allow’ you to use the app (that YOU paid for in full) for 12 months. Then require you pay for another renewal. You can keep using the app on your PHONE (after 12 months)only; you can’t login online via your laptop/computer. But if you change phones then you no longer have access to the Unbound app on your new phone. So take it from a nursing student, don’t bother with this app. Wish I would have saved myself the money. I plan to buy a nursing drug app and leave it at that!

A gem for nursing students!. I was carrying so many books for reference to my clinical site. This app allowed me to drop all the reference books and use my phone. The ability to type in the search field instead of flipping thru and tagging multiple references is such a valuable time saver. It helps while I’m compiling my care plan for the week. Additionally, with the one purchase (and a few add-ons specific for a student) I was able to have this on my iPhone, iPad, iMac, and MacBook!

Expensive. I bought it through my tuition fee. They told me that will be mine after graduate. Very disappointed. It’a very expensive to buy on app.

High Annual Fee, Incomplete Resources. For what I pay per year, I wouldn’t think there would be more to buy in this app, but there is. You get a basic set of comprehensive resources for the annual fee, but if you want anything else you have to pay $50 or so for each extra manual (and there are several of them). I wouldn’t quite call this app a ripoff, but I also wouldn’t say I got my money’s worth, either. I won’t be renewing my subscription when it comes due.

Recent upgrades. Disappointed in this update. I want my old Nursing Central back, which I used daily.

Meh. A somewhat useful resource, however many subjects are severely lacking in depth. Clinical application are lacking many of the times as well. A basic resource, have not found it very helpful in the ICU.

The ONLY Nursing App You Need. I decided to splurge and purchase the full package and couldn’t be happier with this app. The format is no-frills with minimal color which is actually REALLY nice in helping me focus on the actual words. Some other nursing apps are WAY too colorful, and thus distracting and not enjoyable to read. Lastly, and most importantly, the wealth of information available in this app is staggering and will keep you constantly learning and improving. I have already found this app to be extremely helpful at work, particularly for looking up medications. There really is no need to hesitate on getting this app. I know it is expensive, but get it now and you absolutely will not regret it.

Great app. Great app. Allows quick cross referencing for compatibility (& spellcheck). Just wish data could be stored on phone/device, as some hospitals/places have slow to no internet access.

All inclusive. This is a great product for student nurses as well as as instructors and working nurses . It has almost everything that you need . It is handy and a wonderful resource .

Cannot even use the app!. I cannot get any use out of this. I launch the app and attempt to sign in – and receive the message that “the network connection was lost . . . please try again.” No matter how many times I try, the network connection is immediately lost. This happens on cell data and WiFi both. I have been unable to access app support to rectify this. I paid money for the app, and I paid for access to classes. Is this some kind of branch of Trump University?

Unable to create an account. I tried several times to create an account but the Orion to do so never comes up on the sign in screen. I tried deleting and re downloading the app and even resetting my phone but nothing works. I need to use this app ASAP for school.

So Much Information. I am a sophomore nursing student and am genuinely so impressed with this app. It offers anything I could possibly need and reinforces my class work.

Great Resource!. This app provides great information about medications in an easy to read manner! Very helpful!

Nursing professor. This product is excellent for students, faculty, and clinical faculty. It puts clinical information needed for classroom, clinical, and simulation experiences in their hands to make evidence-based decisions. It has tools to help students study NCLEX-RN questions, create flash cards, and selected notes. The search feature is great in assisting in finding evidence, reading the research, and evaluating abstracts from saved journals. It is a robust product that integrates all the books one would need in nursing school and gives you so much more that it is useful after graduation.

I could not ask for a better tool. I am using nursing central for about 4 years now. Nursing central is the best gift a nurse can offer himself /herself. I couldn’t ask for a better tool during nursing school . I graduated 2 years ago but still using nursing central several times a day.

Eh, it has good points and it has bad points. I like centralizing the info and the the app does that beautifully. I am very irritated to discover that most of the journals that the app presented as being included in the “cost” of the app if you paid for premium access, are in fact barely searchable. God help you if you actually find an article that you’d like to or want to read- 90% of the time that content costs extra. That’s right: on top of paying for the privilege of being a “premium member”, they want you to fork out more cash per article if you have the gall to try to read them. Save yourself the money and invest time to visit a public or school library. Same journals there, free access and they let you read them at no extra cost. You just have to put forth extra effort for them rather than the small convenience of a centralized collection on your phone.

My favorite nursing school app. Nursing Central is the resource I click on before Google, every time.

Don’t waste your money.. Don’t waste your money. Once your subscription ends that YOU PAID FOR they’ll shut their services off and/or won’t allow you to transfer it to another device if you get a new phone. Waste of money. Better off finding a different app that won’t rip you off.

Nursing Central. I have been using Nursing Central since nursing school, 12 yrs ago! It is the single-most used app I have ever had the privilege to use! Worth Every Penny. When the syllabus for my MedSurg class gave getting the Nursing Central app as an option instead of buying 3 separate textbooks, I was worried that it wouldn’t be as helpful, but I am so glad that I got it anyway. This app has so much applicable information that is necessary for nurses to know, and after using it for a few months now, I can’t imagine going through nursing school without it. Also, unlike any textbooks, I have it with me everywhere I go, which is perfect for when I have to look up different drugs during clinical. Nursing Central has helped me regularly since I bought it, and I would highly recommend it to any nursing student or nurse who is considering doing the same.

Nrsng Cntrl. I use this app in my clinical practice for university. I no longer have to bring along any textbooks to the hospital. I also use it in every day life. Such a handy reference, wherever you take your phone you take like four textbooks!

Good Information. This app responds quickly & has good information. It is geared towards American medications so some Meds are harder to find than others. You have to look in several topic areas to get all the information for student research, it is great that south information is available in one place.

Great usage. Love the patient education section under medications. Everything about this app is wondering except I found some missing Meds. I couldn't find the Meds used in very common bowel preparation such as pico-salax. Other than that this app is wonderful ! Beats med scape.

Psych Nursing Student. I really like the Davis' Drug guide. The Tabler's cyclopedia dictionary needs a lot of work, but it's better than nothing. Overall it's very helpful to me, my work, and my patient's education. The price is too expensive for student's as well.

good app before not since the update. I am having the same issue as others have found. every time i try and update my content it claims the network times out or bad connection or something despite the fact that i have very fast wifi (checked to make sure it was working properly). i’m trying one more attempt but if it doesn’t work i’m going to be asking for a refund. ridiculous that it should be this difficult to install.

Great app but too expensive. This seems to be especially great for students. My school (St. Catherine University) is piloting iPod touches with this app this year and they are so useful! At any moment during clinical if I don't know a diagnosis I can quickly take this out of my pocket and search for all the info. It gives a little bit of the patho, prognosis and treatments. I can also look up lab values and it gives the normal value, what the value means, and what could cause it to be off. There's much other info in this one app including medical journals, medical dictionary, and Davis' Drug Guide! Its like having all my books at my fingertips! I wish I could download it myself but it's too expensive.. At $160 ...I guess that's why they raised tuition yet again this year..

Hooray. This came out just in time! One week later, I would have bought an inferior product. What makes me think Nursing Central is superior? There are 4 companies that I know of produces nursing specific softwares for handheld devices. Unbound (Nursing Central), Skyscape, Pepid and Lexi-comp. Currently only Nursing Central and Skyscape are available for iPhone. Pepid plans to release theirs soon. Lexi-comp has released apps for doctors and dentists, but not for nurses. - Price. Although $159 for 1 year may seem to be a high price, it is really a best value for the money. You can still use the app after the subscription is expired. All the other products require you to continue the subscription every year to use them. - User interface. Nursing Central looks and feels like it's built for iPhone, easy to read and easy to navigate. Skyscape, on the other hand, feels like they just repurposed the old graphics from PDAs. The fonts are small and hard to read. Unfortunately, I can't comment on contents because I'm not willing to spend the money on the other products. One more thing, for those of you who had expired subscriptions to Nursing Central, the renewal price is only $99.

App crashing. Love the app but since the recent update it keeps crashing.

Great Application. After purchasing and using this application I feel that it is not fair that its rating is not a 4 or 5 star. Anyone in the health field knows that the cost of keeping their knowledge, i.e texts, drug guides, etc updated is costly. But to have it at ones fingertips in a quick, concise way even adds to its value. As a healthcare professional I feel that it is my obligation to my patients to have the newest information at hand. Saying you are in the field for 20 years just doesnt cut it as far as I am concerned. Dont get me wrong experience is important but things change. No one can keep all that info in their brains. It is just a wonderful resource to have. It is a shame that that the cost would hold people back from purchasing this...remember too, its cost should be tax deductible!

Not Free. Evaluate other choices. Firstly, this application is not free. You have to purchase a $159 subscription. Compared to other options in the marketplace (Skyscape, Lexi, Pepid), the closest comparison is Skyscape Nursing Constellation Plus since content is similar (Pepid and Lexi have their own propietary content). Skyscape Nursing Constellation Plus has all the content that this has plus RNotes (Nurses Clinical Pocket Guide) and Archimedes 360 (over 200 medical calculators). Also Skyscape Davis Drug Guide has integrated calculators and Tabers has images which is a big plus. The Skyscape user interface is much slicker and easier to navigate and smartlinks between content in context and intuitively. And with Skyscape you can purchase the entire package or individual products at a lower price tag if you are not ready to sink in a big investment up front for a bundle of products. Would have given a slightly higher rating if these other choices were not available. Compare, evaluate and then make decision to purchase what is best since price tag is not cheap.

This a front end to a very useful collection of nursing applications. Like the Skyscape application the purpose of this application is a front-end to nursing reference titles you buy. The subscription buys you a year of updates but unlike Skyscape the titles can still be accessed after the subscription expires. Yes, the subscription seems expensive but you will see you are paying $40 per title plus getting a Medline journal citation guide. This is a good value for a nurse to use in the clinical setting. The days of Palm and Windows Mobile devices are nearly done; the iPhone and iPod Touch give nurses the most useful handheld clinical assistant ever made. I gave five stars to counter some of the reviews of folks who don't read the description or understand its purpose. The included titles are easy to use, follow Apple interface guidelines, and are very intuitive. Unbound Medicine support is top notch. I will be recommending this app for my nursing students.

Finally figured out why it was crashing for months. For months this app would crash when I searched certain words. Finally figured out why. When I finally sat down to figure it out, I came to the conclusion that it was the special request when I initially bought the app, to have Diagnosaurus DDx included. When I sat down today to test that hypothesis, I found that every single word included in the DDx index, when searched in the universal index, caused the application to crash. Lesson learned: ensuring that an extra $2 worth of material Included in an application will cause months of annoyance and frustration. Thanks for helping me remove it from my subscription Courtney. Though the app is great as it stands, I do think they need to make an effort at pushing the bar a little higher in future releases. I'd like to see some innovations in line with what the medscape app does. Universal indexing, but more digest able breakdown of sections of information. Rather than making every publication look identical to the next in looks and function. But I will say, I'm still astounded that I can carry 14,000+ pages of medical information around with me, at all times, without severing my spinal cord.

Well worth it. I bought Nursing Central when I started nursing school. It was one of the best purchases I ever made. It made the 'hell' of nursing school so much easier, and anything that can help ease that pain is well worth every cent. It's well worth the money! I am taking state boards tomorrow and am still using it. I will continue to use it throughout my career. It's too handy to have. Even if you work in a facility that doesn't allow you to carry your phone, you can still access your account on the net. I have it downloaded on every device I own, and keep a quick link handy on the home screen of my desktop. I wouldn't be caught dead without the app. This is the only app you will need, and if the basic doesn't suffice there's new things added all the time that you can purchase and add to your account for quick, easy access to everything all rolled into 1 app. If you are a nursing student this app is your BEST friend!

Apparently can't live without it. I tried to live without this app when my subscription was over and I transferred to a new iPhone. They don't let you transfer the app to a new phone without an active subscription. However, even though I work in a hospital and we have electronic documentation of meds and hard copy nurse drug guides, it is a pain to leave the pts room to look in the drug guide for a quick answer and the electronic documents are more geared toward doctors. I love the drug guide and the lab guide because it gives NURSING info, and since it is very easily accessible, I don't have to leave the room to look something up and get distracted by doctors and so forth. All in all, as I said, I apparently cannot live without it, so I would definitely recommend it to others, new and old nurses alike.

Can’t use. I’m at Porter and Chester in Hamden, CT and none of us can use this app at all. The school has been notified multiple times and they suggest things but none of it helps.

This app is a necessity for Nursing Students. I bought this app last year and I use it every day. I'm finishing nursing school in a few weeks and this app helped me along the way. I had a pocket sewn into my uniform so that I could slip the iPad in it and used it in clinicals for everything. It came in so handy when I needed to look up a medication or a disorder. It's so easy to type in what you are looking for. The only thing is that it can be a little slow, but I learned to live with it. I also wish that I could enlarge the text on my iPad so that i could read it while I'm at the gym. The print can be rather small. Aside from those two small problems, it was a great purchase. It's so much better than lugging around so many books. I HIGHLY recommend this app to all student nurses, IT WILL HELP YOU! This is definitely something you want next to you when you're studying. It's very easy to look up medications, disorders, vocabulary and abbreviations (especially while you're in class).

Forever syncing. Renewed my subscription app says outdated, attempts to update unsuccessful

Unable to create an account. I tried several times to create an account but the Orion to do so never comes up on the sign in screen. I tried deleting and re downloading the app and even resetting my phone but nothing works. I need to use this app ASAP for school.

Former user. You’re better off buying a book. They delete whatever info is downloaded on your phone after your subscription ends.

Only for those that subscribe to the online service.. The program is for the USE of your pre-existing subscription to this service on your iPhone. JUST AS THE DESCRIPTION SAYS. as for the actual review........... It is GREAT! They are all well laid out, smooth transition, super functional. A god-send for nursing students, and a must-have for nurses! Don't forget this one is for work / school so IT IS TAX DEDUCTIBLE! I only have one problem with the program. I uses an iPhone & other iPods........you can only have it on ONE device at a time (even with multiple iPhones on the same iTunes account). They will NOT allow anything else. If you want it on more than one you have to buy another subscription ($160 initially and $90/yr to renew.) I have used this program before on palm & windows........LOVE IT ON THE IPHONE!!!!!!!

Time Saver. I am I first year nursing student and I love this app. Not only do u get everything at my fingertips but I also get access to all the same info on any computer. This saves me loads of time when going over vocab, instead of looking it up, I just type it in. I dont carry around my drug, lab, or dictionary to clinical anymore cause its all right here. In fact when everyones mosbys drug book is missing info I can usually find it on my phone. My school is requiring pepid but I went with this (they havent noticed) because well it's cheaper, seems to be better in my opinion (havent seen pepid on iphone but compared to the other platforms that it's run on this blows it away) and at the end of the subscription it's still accesible via my phone and it's cheaper then aswell to resubscribe. I hope this helps! I can't state enough how much time this app saves me, it's on my home screen on my iPhone and on my Computer!

Listen up!!!!!. First of all, please be aware that you need to purchase this app from the website before it can be used. Yes, the app seems inordinately expensive. However, it is MUCH less expensive than trying to separately buy all the books contained within it. And good luck carrying all those books with you in the clinical setting! Also, books do not update, people!! This app does!! Plus, if you are attending a school of nursing, ask your department head to see if they can get a discount on the price for their students. Most can save about 10%-15% on the cost. This app is WELL worth the high cost. I cannot stress that last sentence enough. Get it, get it, get it. You will NOT be disappointed I would have paid twice the cost without the slightest hesitation. One other feature this app has over books: search bar. No browsing through an index to find your entry and then flipping through the book trying to find the right page. Here, you simply type in what you are looking for and it takes you right to it. I hesitate to make judgements, but I honestly think anyone who does not buy this app (due to the cost) and then goes out and buys the books this app contains is a complete fool.

Love this. I'm a Lvn at a hospital and I orient new Lvns alot! I'm going for my RN and all I have to say this program is worth every penny. If I'm only a Lvn who can afford it.. Then any RN can afford it. Trust me.. It saved me so many times and especially for labs I'm unfamiliar with or diagnostic test and words. I just pull my iPhone out and look it up and be more competent in what I do. Isn't that what us nurses all about is to provide the best possible patient care we can give?well this app has helped me greatly!! I work at med surg and telemtry And stepdown.. Only wish is of they would put a procedure app with it like inserting a ng tube or a tracheostomy care. Besides that. Don’t lose your password. I got a new phone and lost my password. They told me my account had expired. For hundreds of dollars I expect an app to never expire. That’s ridiculous.

Great Nursing app. Great app

Used to be great. Originally I paid $289 or something ridiculous for this app. Now they want more money for the app. Renewing parts of it for $99 for a year. I don’t really use it at all due to having to pay and pay for it. Better apps out there for less money.

No updates. I’m stuck with an app that is outdated. Very disappointing.
