ABC Propaganda. To be sure, a majority of what is presented by ABC on this app isn’t news, rather it is political propaganda designed to discredit those with whom they disagree—generally conservative voices—while promoting the political views and viewpoints of those with whom they agree—generally liberal and progressive voices. Take the so-called Steele Dossier, which has largely been discredited and disproven. Even so, ABC Propaganda sought to build up Christopher Steele and his political hit-piece paid for by Hillary Clinton and the DNC with a softball interview with former DNC hack George Stephanopoulos. The ‘reporting’ is generally one-sided and lacking the balance one would hope for when looking for news. I’m not a Republican or a Democrat—I’m a political skeptic—and ABC News helped cement my position as such.

I open this app multiple times and a day, and I enjoy the feeling of connectedness with the news it gives me!

It just randomly decides to play audio. I had to delete the app because there’s an extremely bizarre glitch it’s been having lately: it starts playing audio of a news feed, while the app is closed. And it’s nearly impossible to turn off. It actually drained my battery and used God only knows how much data because it was doing it for hours once before I finally realized it (my phone was on silent so I couldn’t actually hear it). It happens at least a couple of times a week. I like the news updates, and I feel ABC is better with doing updates than Fox or CNN or anyone else, and the app looks nice enough, but this has caused me to delete it. If it can turn itself on without me doing it, what else can it do without my knowledge? With recent security and privacy concerns about Iphones, it does make me wonder.

App keeps shutting down. This needs to be fixed. While in the app, when you click on a listed article, the app just shuts down for whatever reason. This is becoming super annoying. Also, I know it’s something with this app because I just did an update. Example, the article about Regina King 26 yr old son passing. When I attempt to read the article, the app shuts down. I actually have to Google the article in order to read it as the it will not allow you to read the article. App just shuts down. This has happen with several other articles but this last time was just so frustrating, I had to post a comment in hopes this can be fixed ASAP.

New Update Includes Too Many Ads Between Videos. I use to love the app and would frequently catch up on the news when away from home, but since ABC updated the app to include ads between every video, it frankly isn’t worth the time to wait 10 seconds for the ad to load, watch the ad for 30 seconds, watch the clip that might not be even 45 seconds long, then have to repeat this process with every news clip. While the Apple TV app includes ads, it’s only between every 5 or so videos.

Latest Upgrades Are A Dealbreaker. I have been using your app several times daily for years, but the latest upgrades are too problematic. I view on an iPad and still the print is so tiny I can’t read it. There is no longer a feature to enlarge the screen view. Plus, most article pictures are only in the menu margin and do not open once the item is selected and opened. These pictures are also so small in the margin that I can’t see them, and they, too, cannot be enlarged. Finally, I can no longer select and copy names, etc. within the articles in order to do a broader search on the internet. Good bye, ABC.

Started playing audio by itself and would not stop after killing app.. Very frustrating bug seems to have existed for over a year according to other reviews. Out of nowhere it started playing audio on my phone. I haven’t used the app in ages on the phone, so thought it was the Apple Watch triggered it somehow. Killed the abc watch app and that didn’t stop the abc news audio from streaming on my phone, even when I locked the iPhone. The. I Killed all apps on the iPhone and that didn’t stop the abc news streaming audio from playing on my phone. Rebooted phone to stop the abc news audio.

FIX YOUR APP, ABC NEWS!. This app doesn’t work half the time. I can’t get the news to play, and sometimes it’s because of the ads lagging to load. Other times, it doesn’t matter how long you wait, it just won’t play the news segment at all. It’s gotten worse since the app added ads before each segment. I like ABC news, but this app is the worst! I’ll likely use other apps for news if it doesn’t improve with the next update. The order of segments for longer shows, like 20/20 make it impossible to watch, because you have to scroll down to segment 1 of 11 and by the time you get there, it’s frozen up because it can’t handle not playing all the ads. Pretty much useless. FIX YOUR APP, ABC NEWS!!!

Disappointed. I have been watching this ABC News app daily for years. And I just switched to NBC because of whatever changes were made in the way it is viewed on my iPad. Now when I open I only see the streaming pod cast...not the breaking news with scrolling updates of other news and GMA news. It has been like this for about a month...I kept hoping it would change back...and it hasn’t and I can’t see the option anywhere to make that change. So...NBC news app it is. And I’m sorry...I have never written a poor review for anything like this..that’s how disappointed I am.

Bad glitch. There is a frightening glitch with this app where it will start playing audio on its own and cannot be stopped. It would start at any given moment and would say some terrifying things and really made me think my phone was hacked or possessed because it was never clear it was a news story...it would just be a narrator preaching, often about the word of God. It was after the 4th time when I heard the words “abc news” in its speech that I finally deleted the app. Be warned, you will think your phone has been taken over. It’s a real shame too since it’s one of the only trustworthy news sources.

The articles are well-written, but.... The headline font size is too small. Too much clickbait. Some special interest stories are buried within the clickbait. The clickable images for the news often doesn’t match the information given. Maybe I need to pay to get better service? I understand organizations need to make money, but all the nickel and dime news information should be accessible to all. It’s too much with so many underemployed or unemployed to get up to date and accurate necessary information about their neighborhoods, community, country, and world.

Photos can’t be enlarged, feedback function broken. The app is pretty good, except for the fact that you cannot zoom in on Photos. Unfortunately, when I went to give feedback, I found the feedback just links to an FAQ page which does not allow any feedback to be given. Obviously, like everyone else these days, they have no concern about what users actually think about their product. Very disappointing.

Descent news but long ads!. This is 2023, there is no call for having 30 second long ads to just show Short news clips. Compounding that, if you scroll down at all where the ad isn’t fully seen and then scroll back up, it starts from scratch brand new 30 second ad, even if you had already watched 20 seconds of the previous one. There are news outlets everywhere, no need to use this ABC app.

Okay but glitches/network error messages. This app is OK but could have so much more potential if it didn’t crash all the time and give me glitch messages about how the network was not working even though I have strong Wi-Fi and cellular. I like that I can at least get push notifications about stories and certain topics I care about, as well as breaking news. Please fix the homepage so I can read stories that are posted because every time I try to click on one it doesn’t open and gives me error message.

Perfect but please let me get push notifications for breaking news!. The ABC News app is phenomenal with the new update. Love the design, layout and general usability of it. ABC has always been my favorite news source and I watch World News Tonight with David Muir, GMA, This Week, 20/20 and Nightline regularly. Love having all of that content in the app as well as the podcasts however for some reason since this last update it doesn’t let me get breaking news push notifications which I really like. Please add this back I’m not sure if it’s a bug or glitch but it’s a very important feature to me!

Randomly starts playing audio. ABC NEWS is great, but the app randomly starts playing audio when it is not open and my iPhone is locked. I have lots of news apps on my iPhone, including CBS NEWS and NBC NEWS. None of the others have this problem.

Video section never updates. I have tried deleting and re-loading this app, refreshing app, turning off my phone and restarting—you name it, I’ve tried it. But, the videos section is ALWAYS outdated. Stories for 10/6 are showing as the latest stories for today 10/16. When I refresh, I get a never ending pinwheel that never reloads or updates the stories. I used to love this app, but can’t find a fix and outdated videos are obviously of no use. I’ve deleted and redownloaded this app at least 4 times and no change.

Awesome AppleTV app. I got home from work at 1:30 EST and I wanted an update on the storm in NOLA. I found nothing on my AppleTV weather apps. I went to my news apps and opened the ABC app. Even though I didn’t find any current information, I found something even better! The option to have the split screen is phenomenal!!! On top of that, there are multiple cams that I can select on my split screen. This is why I cue up David Muir when I get out of work! ABCNews is awesome and the app is even better!

Great app but... I hope the people behind this app see this and make a fix for it because it’s getting kind of annoying and makes me want to just delete the app all together. When I have the app closed and go to turn my volume up or down (when I’m listening to music or watching a video on another app) all of a sudden ‘ABC NEWS LIVE’ will start to play in the background without me even having the app open. It keeps going until I actually OPEN the app and FORCE it to shut off but closing the app. It’s the strangest thing and it’s just getting annoying so I’m hoping y’all come up with a solution but I don’t think I’m the only one.

ABC News App. I’ve enjoyed the timeliness of the ABC news app. It would be awesome if there was a user feature that would give users to option to suppress articles from their news feed once they have clicked to open them. This option would save users time, since they wouldn’t have to scroll through previously-viewed news stories to find the ones they haven’t yet read. Time is money, as the saying goes.

Updates made to app, still needs work. This is still my go to news app, but parts of it are very frustrating. Some of the news items are from LAST YEAR. Writing this on Aug. 31, 2019. On the bottom of the U.S. news feed, I see photos of the Hawaiian volcano from June 2018 and stories about cookies from December 2018. Some stories are only available via video, and I much prefer to read the text. And stories are frequently miscategorized. Mattis saying the U.S. is at a breaking point is sadly NOT entertainment, despite showing up in the entertainment feed. Fix the bugs!

Randomly plays sound on my phone. Here’s the scenario: I won’t even be using the ABC app and all of a sudden I hear audio coming from my phone... typically at the most inconvenient times. I then freak out trying to understand where, why, and how my phone is updating me on the impeachment trial, so I ferociously start force closing my apps, one by one. Of course it stops after I close this app. I think my phone is playing videos on the homepage of the app (while I’m not even using the app!) I deleted this app awhile back because of the same issue. I reinstalled it hoping the issue was fixed but clearly not.

New App is awful. The new news app is kludgy to use. No style and I have lost interest in what was the best news reporting. I still revisit the old version hoping to see that it has been fixed...unfortunately, it still does not show a video and the blank video holders just keep trying to connect. Also, the new app appears to have been assembled by website builders from days gone by. Are used to brag about ABC News. It is something I cannot do any longer

Commercial overload. Just downloaded this app to watch the Mary Trump/ George Stephanopolis interview. Found the interview in search and I still haven’t seen it. One commercial of 30 seconds first then the interview? No. It’s either frozen or damaged I see Mary’s face appear but immediately another 30 second commercial plays again, so I wait again. The ad is over Mary’s face appears frozen. Then another 30 second commercial comes on. I wait, Mary’s face... another commercial ...Mary’s face... another commercial. I saw 6 commercials and not one second of the video I came here for. I know this app makes their money on commercials but this is ridiculous. Goodbye ABC NEWS APP back to NBC NEWS App once again.

Had to uninstall it. Seemed to be causing some issues. Sometimes after I get an ABC News notification, my phone won’t go to sleep. (ABC News app isn’t even running!) I have to restart my phone to get it to sleep again. A few other times, the ABC News audio will start playing and I can’t get it to stop. ABC News app isn’t even running, but the news audio is playing somehow. I go to my music and play a song to get the ABC news audio to stop. This happened the other night when I woke up and picked up the phone. Maybe hit one of the side buttons.

Playing unwanted ads and videos. It wasn’t too bad until clicking on a story to read it resulted in ridiculous ads and videos that start playing at the top of the story after you scroll down past it. So you start trying to read and you can hear music or talking or both. You scroll up and find it’s got stuff going you don’t want to hear. I’ve had it. I will find another news agency to follow who doesn’t pull stupid stuff like this. You could at least have asked.

Designed for Obama phones only. The display keeps tilting to the far left when I open this app for some reason. Booming economy in the U.S., ninety percent of illegal opioids and other drugs still coming across the open southern border, yet neither of these stories get any news coverage. Guess I should quit working and get a free Bama phone. Then this app would prolly work better.

Latest update invasive with ads.. The current incarnation has invasive video ads mid article that auto play with the sound ON! The sound doesn’t turn off even when you click on the mute link or if the sound link is already muted. The videos play even if you have auto play toggled off in the settings. So you are forced to watch the whole video, with the sound on, even if you are only reading the article. So everyone around you, in the library, in the coffee shop, in bed still asleep next to you early in morning are all disturbed by the sound of these annoying ads.

Best of the major news apps. My problem with ALL the major news outlets and their apps is the way they slant their presentations of the news. From the left leaning CNN to the right leaning Fox, they all have an agenda and insist on tailoring what they present, and most annoyingly, how they present it. Please, just present the news and allow that we have the intelligence to make up our own minds without the heavy handed prodding and aggressive agenda based reporting. That said, I find the ABC app the least openly biased of the major outlets and the app is functionally better than most.

Wrong one. I have to apologize to you for the poor review. There was another news app I use that has video. I meant to review them and accidentally slammed you instead. This is a good news app. I appreciate your quick response. Thank you for being a good news organization. Keep up the good work.

Clicking on a push notification doesn’t bring you to the article. Clicking on a push notification doesn’t bring you to the article. It only brings you to the home page and you have to go manually looking for it yourself and half the time it can’t be found. Very useless. None of my other news app have this problem. I sent them a problem report about a year ago but they never bothered to fix it so I ended up deleting the app entirely.

All the news & weather as it happens.. Weather alerts are very helpful. As I’m retired, I schedule whatever events I can when there are no storms in the area as my Sweet Pea is afraid of storms. The traffic reports are helpful, especially the options for alternative routes. I like the news alerts also. It’s great to be informed of the days happenings.

Shameful piece of Trash. Pure GARBAGE performance. That a huge corporation does not have a decent app that will play their news from beginning to end is total garbage. On any iOS device this app plays the LAST segment of George Stephanopoulos THIS WEEK and then will usually ends or play the show in reverse of appearance. Why? Is there ANY excuse for such a poor app?! My guess is that neither the executives or people on staff at ABCnews use the app, and if they do they DO NOT CARE. Shameful that they would have such a low regard for the show they themselves produce. If they DO care, then do not be silent.

Glitchy. I like the app and the content itself, however, in the past couple of weeks I’ve been noticing that whenever a news notification pops up, the audio for that article automatically plays through my phone even if the app itself isn’t open. It doesn’t even stop whenever I play different music so it forces me to open and close out the app to stop the audio. Otherwise though, the app is great.

Notifications never connect to the story. I like the app overall, it provides a good source of news information both in written form and in news videos. But, I get news headlines popping up in notifications all the time and whenever I tap one because I want more information, it always just takes me to the main “Top Stories” page, and sometimes I can’t even find the article that I tapped on a notification for. It’s very frustrating that a notification will draw my interest, but then I can’t get the information I want to see.

Swipe Right Now Gone. Just opened the latest update and previously, after reading an article, I could swipe right, anywhere on the screen, to go back to the main page, with the list of stories. Best feature of any news app. Now, just like every other news app I have tried, I need to swipe down, to get the backup arrow to appear, and then reach up to the top left corner, to back up. I might as well use the CBS app, which I previously deleted, since the ABC interface was much more intuitive and cleaner. Now it it no different than the others, so any incentive to use this app is now gone. Don’t fix what isn’t broken. Just lost me. Bye.

So frustrating. This app has good push notifications with the latest headlines. But if you want to read the full headline or read the article, good luck. Clicking on the notification brings up the app and takes you to an article that’s ongoing. So if you click on a headline that talks about a very specific topic relating to COVID-19, you have to scroll through months of crap to find that info, and the headline doesn’t match what was in the notification. I don’t care what happened in April. It’s June. Give me today’s news.

Click bate. I have really liked this app but as time goes by I’ve gotten really annoyed at the videos they attach to articles. You either click a link and the video is just the article that you have to read in video form(what’s the point?). Or the link says one thing and the video is something else mildly related. You end up wasting your time watching a video then having to read the article anyways.

Used to be great. This app worked one day and now it doesn’t even open I just deleted it off my phone because it went from being a five star app to not even working and the worst thing is I can’t even open the abc website on my phone without being brought to the App Store. I don’t know how an app can go from being one of the best news apps to not even being functional but they did it and they did that excellent precision. I am really disappointed in this app.

Very annoying. Randomly plays news audio at unexpected times. This used to be my favorite news source, but the latest version misbehaves. At random times, even when I am not using my phone, it will start playing news audio. It even does this when the app is not running! The audio just suddenly starts playing. The only way I can ensure this won’t happen any more is to simply uninstall it and not use it anymore, which is disappointing. If I click on your “support” link in the Apple store, it just takes me to your news app, which is of no help at all.

ABC News app on Apple TV buggy. Every time I click on a news article, I am presented with the newscaster with their mouth open frozen for five seconds, and then a long ad plays. I don’t mind some ads, but the same ad over and over every time I watch a short news report? That is really excessive and irritating. I will never buy the product in that ad because it is so irritating to see it 10 times while just trying to watch the news. This app is doing a dis-service to the advertisers Often when opening the app and selecting a video the app will play 2 different audio tracks at the same track which cannot be stopped and the app has to be closed and reopened.

Love ABC news, can’t stand their app. It makes me crazy when the watch and read articles never load. The video that does seem to load is just the useless “notified” thing, which has nothing to do with the headline or the story. Most of the time the story itself never loads but all the ads at the bottom sure do. No, it is not my Internet connection… All other apps perform fine. Just ABC fails 80% of the time. Reluctantly, I am about to delete it and use my browser.

Apple TV App has been horribly broken for months. Dear Disney, please have anyone who is human test this app before releasing it again, it is unusable, full of defects, and a completely awful user experience. Dear devs, the app should not reset when the next story is playing and jump back to the first story, the ads should not continue playing while the news is playing, the app should not spin not knowing what to do. I have to reset the app every day to make it even pickup the latest stories. ABC news is struggling to be relevant against many news apps that just work. Nuff said, good luck turning this ship around, I’ll check back in 6 months - but for now, good riddance.

Good except for the bug. Infrequently (but multiple times since I downloaded the app) I will turn up the volume of my phone and randomly hear someone talking. Despite the app having not even been opened (yes, I checked), ABC News for some reason starts streaming the audio of some current event. This morning it was Mitch McConnell. I never know how long it’s been going on, but a quick check of my data usage shows that this app has been eating up my data in order to spontaneously stream this audio that I didn’t tell it to. The only way to get it to stop is to actually open the ABC News app then close it again. I can’t afford the data loss, so finally made the decision to delete the app. Now to find a replacement...

Please fix. After hitting back it goes to the very top of the list. I would like to stay where I was instead of having to scroll back to where I was after reading an article. The volume option should be moved away from the time bar. When I try to turn the sound on, I frequently tap the time bar and advance the story. Maybe a little space between the twin would help.

From Patricia Smith. I race to get home from work to watch World News Tonight with David Muir. I want to keep up with the news every day. I fear that if I don’t get a chance to view the show, I’m missing out on the news. It’s not the same as the internet. I love to watch it live on television. A great news show, and I try my best to not to miss anything.

Held Back by Ads & Playback Issues. I would rate the app five stars, but for two glaring problems. First, it makes you watch an ad before EVERY news story. I understand ads are the price of free here, but 1:1 ads to news stories is obnoxious. Painful. (30-second ad, 2-minute video, repeat.) Plus it’s the same couple of ads over and over. The other big problem is that, if you’re watching a story when they publish a new story, it kicks you out of the one you’re watching. Screen goes black, a new ad plays, and their new story starts. Really bad experience. Happens to me a couple of times per week. Not sure why these things are acceptable to the folks who work on this app, but they’d have all the stars if they’d fix it. (This review is for the app on Apple TV.)

I’m just trying to catch up on the news!. I get it, Fidelity Wealth Management. But seriously, I watch the same thirty second ad over and over again between each tiny little twenty second news update. I almost have it memorized. Not to mention the ads lag, so I have to wait for them to load. I say them, but it’s .just. .one. .ad. Fidelity, got it. Fidelity is keeping me from watching the news. Also for some reason it won’t let me watch full episodes despite having logged in to my cable provider. I love ABC News! I hate this app.

ABC news. I put ABC second to Fox News. Both are more realistic with a balance between stories vs the fake editorials by CNN and NBC. News should not be siding with political parties but instead saying the truth on both sides and allowing people to judge based on merit. Watched a segment on NBC and the woman reporter was sneering as she talked taking the content out of context. I see a bit too much of that on Fox rather than simply telling the story and letting people judge fir themselves. Problem with ABC who has it together pretty well is they lean too far left and not enough right…should be a clear balance which people of any sense would appreciate and watch more. It’s time real news comes back and the editorials be special shows outside the real news and called some t going like The View. Of course even that show has become far left which takes the balance if anything good out of it. We want both sides and the good as well as the bad views first and each the same. Civilized instead of just ugly how it is now.

Videos play while app isn’t open. I really do love the app and would definitely rate it 5 stars for the easy navigation, favorites tab, and how it keeps up with my interests but I can’t. The one single downside to this app is that it plays videos whenever my phone connects to Bluetooth audio and also randomly sometimes. It’s extremely frustrating since I spend a lot of time in my car and my Bluetooth takes a minute to sync with my phone. Every single time I have to pull over and shut off the ABC News app that video that I wasn’t even watching in the first place. If this didn’t happen the app would completely be 5 stars.

Trump abuse of power and his lying to everybody.. Very surprise to see the Republicans as well as the church goers not to shunt the Trump agenda, ultra right agenda and disrespecting the office of the President.

Random background audio bug. The app is great, and I prefer ABC because it’s as close to political as possible for a major US network. But this app randomly starts playing audio, even when it hasn’t been opened. The only way to turn it off is to open the app and close/kill it. It’s super annoying and can cause massive data overages if I don’t catch it. Please fix this bug!

Stop interfering with my use of the app. This app interferes with my App usage by demanding to give it an App Store rating. So here is my one star rating. I'll stop accessing ABC's notifications.

Good, but could be improved.. The largest turn off is a lack of a dark mode option. While readable, having that would make the app all the better for those who find it more difficult to read against a light background. Adding a broader selection of subject content to browse from (food, travel, more specific news content) is a lesser issue but would make the app more appealing overall.

Great News App!. Thank you tremendously for redesigning your dependable news app & including dark mode for better readability! Is there an option to enable notifications in Settings?? Don't see this option as compared to other ABC news apps (ex: NY or LA). Would really love an option for medium or large home screen news widgets in the future. (For those who want a quick look at latest headlines).

New update problem. Crashes since 01/18 update. Can't even load the app any more. Before the update this was a great app! Please fix.

Perfect except for one thing. Ads before the live stream. “Captain Obvious” is making me nuts. On my Windows 10 I don’t have this annoyance.

Hate is Hurting ABC et al. Too negative on Trump... As a Canadian I’m watching from the sidelines but seriously, your bias towards Trump is getting so ridiculous I can’t trust any of your news anymore! We as a family used to love your news but it’s like 99% negative news on Trump & that’s just not reality. It’s gotten to the point where it’s a laughing stock in my engineering circles where I work & this feeling is quite widespread. I know you in the Media hate Trump, we get that loud & clear... But it doesn’t give you the right to abandon all journalistic standards to try and destroy him. What you’re trying to do is having the opposite effect. Please get this message to your bosses... “We used to love your programming but your endless Trump bashing is destroying your credibility & chasing us away! We have had it with the political bias & we are shutting you off!” (We hope one day you’ll come to your senses! The Great Michael Jordan (a Democrat) once said in response to those urging him to become political... “Republicans buy shoes too”, as in it would be terrible for business to disenfranchise half his customers... Maybe the hate for Trump is so extreme now in Media circles that there’s just no way to return to the regular L of Centre news media we grew up with, which is quite sad. My wife & I have decided to delete the ABC News App as a result of what I have said... just the words of a humble engineer & his wife/family & we don’t expect you’ll even take the time to respond or even care we are leaving.

Doesn’t work on AppleTV or iPad. It’s trying to determine where you are based on location services, then crashes. Both iPad and AppleTV.

Review. Simple As ABC

App launching audio in background. I was at an interview and heard my phone playing a loud audio (talk show), had to close all apps but audio was still there. Had to mute the phone. After my interview audio was still playing. To stop it I had to play music. Few days later same thing, till I discovered it was ABC app launching audio without being told. Had to delete it (was freaked out that my phone was hacked). Fix this issue please.

Great app. This is one of the best apps around.

Eh, just ok. Love their news coverage. Great reporting. But the app is only moderately enjoyable. Terrible ad experience (ad plays before EVERY video, can’t adjust the volume) but that’s not the worst. I often need to come back to an article in the middle of reading it but the app won’t let you do that. If you jump to another screen on your phone (Safari, Messages, etc) the app automatically restarts. It creates a terrible experience.

Can’t turn off autoplay of videos. Ads that are videos start automatically playing with no control to turn them off, which is not only frustrating but a waste of bandwidth and data. Even with the Autoplay videos setting in the app disabled, it still happens.

Spell check. I have been seeing a lot of spelling errors on the bottom of the news on tv. It doesn’t represent news quality with misspelled words as kids in school are watching. Fact check and spell check would definitely improve your station. If you are hiring people that can spell would be helpful!

Excellent version of app,but needs improvement. This version of the app is excellent, but it should allow for video & sound to be played when the app is running while other apps are being used.

Articles stop playing music/podcast. Edit Dec 2021: they seem to have finally fixed this bug! :) Even with “auto play videos” off, every time one opens a news article, sound stops playing. I find myself avoiding the app when listening to something.

Ugh!!! Hate it!. This was my go-to daily news app. Unless the format changes back to a user friendly format, I'll be searching for a new app to get my news. 9/5 ugh... again!! I tried this app again only to open it and have it shut down just as quick. After hard rebooting my phone (it’s been acting up) and that not helping, I saw there was an update. Bingo... now this app will be deleted instead of filed in my rarely used section. Several years ago, I loved it. Still hasn’t come back around .

Notifications on Breaking News. I love receiving notifications to breaking news. It would be even greater if they would link to the corresponding article in your app. Instead I receive a second pop up. I touch view article and it goes no where. Why not just delete the second pop up?

I didn’t see a way to shut off auto play on videos. This was so annoying that I deleted the App. Problem is: if you’re looking for a video to play, and a different one starts playing it is annoying. If a video you might want to play starts playing, you can easily miss the first part because it can easily start playing before you even decide that you want to watch it. Then you’ve already missed the first part!

Annoying ads at the beginning of each news video. I love News 13, that’s why I downloaded this app. However I find the ads at the beginning of each news video annoying. Why start each news with ads when there’s already a lot of ads in between the news?

ABC World News Now. In my opinion there is no news network that gives the extensive reporting of news and weather World News Now with David Muir I just don’t think you can get any better ABC has always had the best News Anchorman

Still crashes frequently. The news provided and the layout is great. However, even the latest update still crashes on my iPhone 7 almost every day. Touch an article to start reading and the app just closes instead. Open it again and it works fine for a day or two. Or not. It’s getting annoying. I would give this app 5 stars otherwise.

Love getting the latest updates!. It is wonderful to know what is happening in the world without having to read the newspaper or watch the news. News is right on my phone!

ABC can’t get this right. I tried to email customer service through the app but it turns out that’s not a valid email address. That’s why I’m looking at the reviews. It appears I’m not the only one who has been embarrassed by the audio blasting without the app even opened. I, too, have had my phone locked only to be startled by the sounds of some story I didn’t choose to hear. As this has been a problem reported here for sometime without any obvious attempt to address it, I am deleting this app.

Not an improvement over prior version. Not at all as user friendly. Advertisements overwhelm the stories. Ugh! Ad placement confuses finding stories. SO MUCH redundancy. How many times can you give us a timeline of the ship hitting the bridge or Kate Middleton’s cancer diagnosis (she’s not the only one dealing with it). Surely there are many more important stories to tell.

Had to delete it. App comes in by itself and is very hard to turn off. Last night it worked in the background for 9 hours when I was asleep and completely drained my battery. When I turned the phone back on after charging and checked settings, it said it was operating in the background over nine hours. I liked the app before this started happening. If they fix it, I will reinstall, but not before.

Auto plays audio in background unrequested. Nice app overall but it has a strange annoying bug. When I am NOT even using the app, but hang up from a phone call, the app starts playing video in the background. I can hear the video but it took me weeks to figure out where it came from. They only way to stop the audio playing is to open the app and then kill it. Hope this helps, progrmr on StackOverflow

Not worth the effort. I stoped using this app for a long time because it would freeze and crash every single time I used it. I assumed that there would be patch and it would be resolved soon. Then weeks went by and nothing. So I stoped using it. I recently started reading there feed again except now every single article has a forced commercial playing in the middle of the feed that freezes on that spot so you have to watch it and not continue reading. I’m just going back to my Apple news feed.

Advertising, advertising, advertising. ABC for advertising bull crap. I prefer to scroll and read news to avoid the incessant ads on videos and ridiculous chatter between co anchors. However with this ap it seems to be a 75/25 split: 75% ads and 25% news. Worse, it’s difficult to discern ads from news as they are both presented (by design) to look exactly the same. I’m deleting this ap it’s scandalous crap.

New app version is a mess. I’ve always relied on ABC news first and foremost for current events and have read it daily for many years. But, after downloading the revamped app, I see it’s a discombobulated mess. I can’t scroll down to read a complete story. When I try, the next story is on my screen as if I swiped left. In addition, since stories often don’t properly load, I’m left with half a story while the rest of my screen is left blank. Disappointing but I’ll move on to the next news source.

Most bias and divisive station. Something happened to ABC in the last 4 years. Where there have slowly only started to report decisive bias stories. They forgot the definition of journalism. They were my favorite for being unbiased and least divisive, now they are more ultra left then msnbc. This is my first app review and I have had a iPhones for more then 10 years. I need to write this before I deleted them. Will gladly go into detail after detail. Example after example.

Won’t log me in with my Dish credentials.. Will NOT let me watch ABC World News Tonight, although I hav verified my Dish Network account. All I get is an error message “Not Authorized”. I have called the number listed for ABC, and selected the problems with app choice from the menu, THREE times. They answer the phone, the first time no one spoke, the next two times, I started to talk with someone, but after about 1 - 2 minutes they either stopped talking or the line went dead. I can not find any link on the ABC News app to re-authenticate my iPad, and even uninstalled and reinstalled the app, but still the same problems. It will let me watch live broadcasts, but not the earlier broadcast of the evening news with David Muir.

Love the app. Great content. Accurate reporting. Well organized. Some news apps make me crazy finding things but not this one. I like getting notifications on important breaking national news from a trusted source. And NO bugs or crashes.

Apps drains data in the background. Delete the app. I barely used this App. The App auto played a video and it was still playing the video in the background and ate my data 1GB in the background in 45 min. Delete this app as it is a data hog. My guess is that Disney is putting pressure on User visits and this behavior is intentional so it appears that users visit ABC News. Video plays factor in advertisement so I assume that it is intentional behavior. Disney, please fire the Product Manager for ABC News Mobile.

Nice app but.... I wish I could see the full video but the close captioning does not turn off it’s constant. There is no way to turn it off in the settings area either. I’m using an iPad and this is the current version of the app. Other than that it’s perfect I just would like to see the whole video or all of the news that’s on the bottom of the screen.

Glitch that plays app audio while the app is closed. I like the app and the news notifications. However, I keep getting these random audio plays while the app is closed. You cans stop it from playing unless you actually open the app and scroll down to the video that randomly started playing. If you’re phone is on silent, you won’t realize it’s playing until you pick up the phone. Ends up draining the battery.

Just What You Need!!. I'm so thankful for the continued coverage of the events! This app is great without any hang ups or lags. I'm not a computer geek but I use apps all of the time and this is the best one for the most up to date news coverage for all of the Hurricane IRMA details and updates!

Sound still plays when app turned off. Every time I use this app and then exit it to go to another screen, everything seems fine. Then the next time I touch my volume button, I hear whatever news was on and it won’t go away until I fully shut down the app in the background. Sometimes it doesn’t even go off unless I fully restart my phone.

Won't read /Use ABC News app anymore. So frustrated w the app. The new app has way too much white space (do you actually use a UX designer??b). Too much scrolling to see the articles I want to read. Like the old app much better from this perspective. Am frustrated you have removed the Locals news section, and I have to go to another app for that. I can't believe you still have an "Investigative" section, when the articles there are 11 months old. That's just embarrassing as a news app!! Will get my news elsewhere...

Clickbait. The news on the app is informative as it should be. However, when I'm unable to get to their "breaking news" notifications within an hour, the article referenced doesn't open or is simply no longer to be found. Really ABC? Are you resorting to Fox News "journalism"? I clicked on the notification because I was INTERESTED in it so please try to remedy this situation.

Can’t even read the text. This app has always been difficult to navigate. Trying to get to the text I want to read and stay there has been hard. Today it has become impossible. The top photo or video box no longer scrolls up as I try to move the text to continue reading, and the text won’t scroll up well enough for me to read past the first paragraph or so. The app has finally become completely useless for me.

Love to listen!. I work 12hr shifts at a hospital, and have two kids and go to school. Needless to say I don’t have a lot of time on my hands! After work or class I like to listen to the news and catch up on the day, so that when I’m home with my kids I know what’s been happening throughout the day! Great app!

ABC news is reliable, unbiased news. I read these stories all day everyday. ABC News is my number one source of news literally it’s more convenient, more reliable, and more factual than other news sources.

Notification Link Often Fail. The notification links fail with frequency. If that happens, I do not hunt for the article. I close the app and move on with my day. Whatever it was isn’t usually so interesting that I need to work to find the article. If so, I’ll Google it and read the content from another provider. So annoying. Makes me feel like Charlie Brown when Lucy holds the football.

App is Only Ok. The layout and swipe functions of the app are not good. The app kept jumping around when I was trying to read some stories. The video at the top of the stories is worthless. Please have an announcer give a 60 second briefing of the story instead of having to read some lines in a video with horrible background music playing. The only redeeming value I find with the app is the audio news. I wish ABC would keep to the facts instead of their opinions with the stories but I guess that is to be expected. Overall- the app fails in a good satisfactory app The Listen feature is nice. Two stars until they work out the layout issues, swipe feature, and video content in the articles.

Love the ABC News app. If there’s one thing we need in journalism and reporting today it is an even keel! ABC News gives its readers that with balanced, professional reporting in a timely fashion. It’s the news I go to most when the news really counts! Thank you to all those professionals responsible.

Font too small. I read ABC news everyday and throughout the day. However the latest update made the text too small. Checked settings and it was on +2 which is as big as possible and still too small to read! Please go back to previous version or increase font size!

Good app. I usually watch ABC News with David Muir. Would love to be able to share my favorite segments from that night’s broadcast (America Strong, for example) with friends and family. Can’t do that on the app now, but hope that feature will be added.

STOP HIDING HEADLINES!. I’m a news junkie and ABC NEWS has always been a primary source. I downloaded the app a couple weeks ago as an alternative to the other news apps on my devices. I have close to a dozen. ABC NEWS is the only news platform that frequently “hides” the headline for the lead story and often makes it virtually unreadable without eye strain. For example, a lead headline tonight about Covid testing in Jacksonville is displayed in white letters against a white photo. it’s so obvious you can’t make out the words yet here we are. I think if you look at how the other news apps present their lead stories compared to your approach, you’ll see the difference in clarity and production value. Regretfully, ABC NEWS is now the last app I turn to for my quick news fix.

The Best When People Need Up to The Minute News. ABC News is the BEST National news cast. They report the news without sensationalism, prejudice, and report the facts. ABC has the highest regard for reporting the facts ethically and truthfully. ABC News is professionalism at it’s best when the world needs news now.

Randomly plays even when app isn’t open. I used to really like this app for news. Then in the past month it starts randomly playing news audio. I check all my open apps and even when it’s not open, it plays. I can’t force close it if it’s not open. So I go open the app and the audio stops. Rather a sneaky way to get me to open the app! What else is it doing that I’m not aware of? I don’t want to get rid of it, but this is crazy, so I might have to.

Pay TV login needed for content. So… I downloaded this app so that I could watch “World News Tonight” occasionally. That show is free via any TV via over-the-air, yet the app requires a Pay TV provider login to watch it. I will note that the competing apps from NBC and CBS permit us to view their nightly news programs without paying. So, if you want a nice news digest, skip this one in favor of competitors.

Notifications. Missing ability to turn on notifications for break news and for focus mode select allows apps ether use to have that ability

This app is truly exceptional.. This app has the greatest information the world has to offer, including the ability to locate real-time news as it is happening. I personally enjoy the saved items feature as it helps me re-read articles I have saved. Thanks ABC!

Why won’t they fix the audio glitch?. This app plays audio from more than one stream at the same time and sometimes plays audio when the app isn’t on. This has been happening for years and if ABC makes money off of this app being used then they should want to fix this issue sometime this decade. Amazing no one at ABC cares that this has been happening for as long as it has.

Plays in the background even when not open. Had to reset my iPhone the other day. Had all apps closed (manually went through every app) and had not even opened ABC News app since resetting phone. This stupid app still was somehow playing in the background (heard it coming through my Bluetooth speaker). Only way I could stop or playing was by deleting the app. I won’t be reinstalling it until I see a future update on it.

Good news app. Nice app from a dependable news source. The videos are nicely produced and good quality. I do wish the video player had more options, like the ability to go full screen and skip forward and back ten seconds at a time.

Breaks links. I had to delete this app today just to read a news story on Facebook. With the app installed, the app was hijacking the link and redirecting me to the home page, so it was impossible to read the article. I deleted the app and then I was able to read the article. I recommend deleting this app until they fix this “feature” if you actually like to read news and don’t just want a curated entertainment experience.

Keeps shutting down. Every time I get an alert for an article on abc news, and I tell the program to open it so I can read it, the article comes up on the screen and then shuts down or crashes immediately and the article goes away. It’s too much of a hassle trying to find it again to read it, so I end up not bring able to read the story. Been this way for a year or two. I’ve given up trying to access abc news articles.

If it's not broke you don't need to fix it!. I love listening to the news right before work as I drink my coffee in the morning. Apps are always updating an spoiling the way it works. I understand bug fixes and such. But if it works leave it alone.
