Used to be the best app. I’ve been using Runkeeper for over 3 years now. It was excellent. Now I will look for a new app since last upgrade. I have the Apple Iwatch and I loved that the phone and Iwatch synced. I had my heart rate monitored constantly from the watch, but while walking could easily see all the stats on the phone. Now stuck with just using the watch. It’s cold out. I can’t easily get to watch to see rates and distance. Had better access to phone plus easier to read and hear. All my friends and relatives used runkeeper. NO ONE likes it now since the phone and watch are not synced. Went from 5 star to 1 with last upgrade. Plus before upgrade you could use either watch or phone independently too. Why kill the sync? I thought upgrades were to make something better not make me remove the app from my phone. Don’t get this app unless they put it back the way it was.

Used to love - now not so sure. I loved Runkeeper for back when I was doing outdoor runs. Now I am on the treadmill (easier on the joints and now don’t have to worry about daylight or weather). The “stopwatch” mode is supposed to be used for indoor running. I have two major issues with it. First, every time I close the app it switches back from stopwatch mode to GPS mode, so I have to switch it back at the start of every run. Second, for my training plan a lot of the runs are broken into intervals based on distance (not time), and/or the warm up is based on distance; well the app can’t tell your distance when on a treadmill, so you are just stuck in that interval and it doesn’t proceed on. There’s no way to change the interval to a time instead, and/or no button to go to the next interval. I have to write down the intervals and do them manually on the treadmill, and then manually enter the run into the app. I really enjoyed the app before but now because of this I am just not using it. It is not robust enough for indoor running sadly.

Thanks for the latest update - Edit, still a glitch. Edit: although the horrible GPS glitch was resolved, I still have an inconsistent problem with the app starting on my Apple Watch when I start a run from my phone. The watch app opens, but does not begin on its own. It worked yesterday, but not today. And this has been an ongoing problem since before the iOS 15.2 issue. I tried closing both the apps on my phone and watch and reopening, but that didn’t resolve the problem. Frustrating. Original post: After 10 years of using Runkeeper, I was ready to move on because of the recent glitch with iOS 15.2. My app would not track my runs unless I had the app open and visible on my phone, and the connection to my Apple Watch was inconsistent. I only wish the issue had been avoided or fixed more quickly. Would have saved a couple weeks of frustrated running experiences. Glad it was resolved.

Inaccurate, makes a great freezer. I downloaded the free app because my spouse did so I figured we'd bike together and have great data to use. I ride much more frequently than her and for the first week and a half it was mediocre. Frequently pauses even though I'm not stopped causing inaccurate data although it also pauses when my ride does so auto pause seems to work. I'm sure nobody wants random pause enabled but there's no way to disable that. Somehow it calculates calories burned without any data. No matter if I bring a 50 pound trailer or have my dog pulling me or ride 3 miles or 5 miles it always says about 300 calories burned. This just can't be accurate. Now, my phone is just freezing and I'm loosing home button functionality when I try to stop the trip. Luckily I'm able to turn off my phone and that allows it to function properly again. But again that is not a fantastic feature. So basically between the random pausing, inaccurate calorie counter, and the freezing this app is trash. I can't possibly imagine someone would want to buy this. If you're considering this app and you've read this far I've heard Strava works well so I'm gonna go try that now.

Great motivator!. This app is wonderful- I’ve only been using it just over a year (still free version) and I must say it’s so fun! I’m finding myself using it more all the time. I just love knowing what my stats are ie: mileage and speed, on a hike or causal quick walk around the neighborhood. The different voices you can choose from are fun too- and you can always turn that off if you don’t want to hear it. Being able to track total mileage for a day/week/month, compare to previous months, or set a distance goal and push for it has been really cool and motivating. (Word to wise: Take Baby Steps!) When I feel like I’m not doing great it’s nice to see how far I’ve come literally and figuratively in the last year. (Over 200 miles!) Plus- there’s a lot of settings you can fiddle around with and ways to interact more (or less) like turning off the emails. It’s a well made app, almost haven’t had any issues with it- and after I fiddle some more and see how well it’s helping me get back into the almost-daily-walking/ movement saddle, well- I just may spring for the paid version.

No free plans on iPhone anymore? Samsung only?. Ive run with both iPhones and Samsung phones and I am realizing with their latest updates, you cannot set any training goals and use the basic free plans on iPhone without subscription but the option is still available on the Samsung phones. Ridiculous. Also this seems to waste my battery quite a bit. It would be helpful to have a marathon power save feature which would help the phone to preserve energy during the long runs of 15+ miles. And another thing, the apple watch and iphone dont actually sync when you start from one or the other. If You have to start from your phone because your set workout doesnt show on the watch, you have to start from both separately and hope that at the end they grab the correct stats from the phone. Otherwise if you start your run from the phone and forget to from your watch, starting later will show current stats from the phone but when you finish you may get the stats from wherever you started from the apple watch.

Please bring back app to Today on lock screen. Your app is so frustrating to use. First, you remove the feature from the home screen, which made it difficult to use when I’m doing track workouts. So once I got the Apple Watch, I thought that would resolve my complaint. But then your app kept resetting during my runs and I would lose the data. It was especially frustrating during a 16 mile run when the app reset TWICE during the same run! After that, I decided to stop using your app and use a more reliable running app. I thought I would give it a try again almost one year later and ONCE AGAIN, your app reset! I wish you would improve your app. I have had this app for almost 8 years, and it has not improved at all over this time. You are so far behind the other apps. Why don’t you have segments like Strava? It’s extremely popular. And you’re not doing anything to make it better. I once used to pay the subscription, but it’s no longer worth it.

Calorie Calculator Quirks. The app works great except for the calorie calculator. My health insurance provider has a fitness tracking program where you can earn points that can be redeemed for prizes including gift cards which basically gives you cash. You earn points based on every 100 calories burned during a workout. When I ride my bike Runkeeper will show the current amount of calories burned. After I save the workout and review the calories burned in the feed tab Runkeeper will have added calories to the amount it was showing when I saved the workout. When I walk Runkeeper will deduct calories when I save the workout. There is nothing worse than ending up with an amount of calories burned that is just under the next 100 calorie total. I have ended up with an amount ending with 99 calories multiple times. If I would get an accurate count before I save a workout I could easily go a little longer (sometimes literally walking or riding for a few seconds) to get to the next 100 calorie total.

Perfect Mix of Run Recap Details!!!. Perfect for my running! Easy to use, and shows running distances, elevation, weekly workouts, and tracking data in comparison of previous months and years. Adding a pic to your running workout is a great bonus, too! I run in rural areas and trails mostly, so it’s pretty cool to add a nice recap photo of trees, hills, deer, etc. The “feed” option is a quick way to “scroll” through your runs from most recent to previous ones. I’m a big fan of knowing and keeping track of my mileage per week, so this app works great for me. There are plenty of training options and races within the app. Switching between different forms of exercise (running, walking, cycling, etc) is simple. I love the map it shows me during and after my workout is complete, also. I’ve tried several other running apps, and this one works the absolute best for me!

I am finally a runner!!. I have HATED running my entire life. My mom and sister are the marathon running people that I thought were crazy. We run a 5K every year on Thanksgiving and I have always hated it. This year after the run I decided that I was going to try to start running. My sister suggested this app to me and after the first 3 trial workouts I fell in love with it (not the running, but the app). I trained for and ran my first 5K and was amazed when I could actually run the 5K without taking a single walking break (considering the fact that I couldn’t successfully jog a single mile before). Only 3 months after getting this app I jogged an entire 5 miles without stopping. Thank you Runkeeper!! Update 1: Thanks to Runkeeper, I finished my first half marathon! Update: I decided that I wanted to start doing more strength training went to cancel my Runkeeper just to find out I was too late and my yearly subscription had already gone through. I emailed customer service and they were so happy to help me! Not only is Runkeeper an amazing app, their customer service is exceptional!

I don’t want to create an account - deleting Runkeeper. I previously rated this app with 5 stars (see below) Since it will no longer allow use of the app without creating an account and logging in, I will be deleting Runkeeper and finding another app to use. There are many running apps out there to choose from and I am willing to pay for a one-time purchase - as long as logging in is not a requirement. ======= My previous review follows: ====== Love this app. I opened the app for the first time, pressed start, and took off running. Every 5 minutes, it reported my time, distance, and rate in minutes/mile for me to hear while I run. While running, it displays a map following my tracks. Also it displays stats during the run - which r not really needed to look at since I hear them every 5 min. When finished running, i pressed stop and it recited a summary of my workout for me to listen to while I warmed down. Then allowed me to write notes about the workout before I saved it. There was no learning curve for using this app. It was very intuitive. I can call up saved runs and view the map of my tracks as well as the stats. It also compares all my runs and displays my best in a summary of all runs. I have not created an account. And I'm still on version 5.5. There are many more features in this app which I have not felt the need to use yet.

Run data lost! Repeatedly!. I tried Runkeeper, really I tried. Over the years I've had an Apple Watch I tried to rely on the watch app. I live the GPS tracking and the robust data in the phone app, but I simply can't use an app that is unreliable. Specifically, when I use the native watch app I will regularly lose runs. I'll finish the run and try to stop it on the watch and the app will not Jake pausing, stopping and recording the run. At various points in the process it will just crash to the first screen and the run will not be recorded. This had happened MANY times and is utterly frustrating. This NEVER happens with the Apple Watch Workout app. It's not as fancy and detailed as Runkeeper, but it works reliably. At the end of the day that's more important. The dad thing is that after leaving Runkeeper years ago due to this problem, I came back to it after getting a new Series 4 Apple Watch, certain that they must have fixed these problems over the years. Nope, still randomly loses runs. Doesn't crash as much which is good I guess, but the point of a fitness tracker is to accurately and consistently track your fitness. When it can't do that then it's worthless. Makes me sad, but later Runkeeper. Maybe these issues will get fixed in another 5 years or so...

Longtime User. I have been using Runkeeper for over ten years and love it - and I used the basic free version. It’s as accurate as any other running app (that I’ve tried), records details of all my runs, shows the route I ran on a map, tracks my various shoes and miles on each. My favorite part is all the stats that can be voiced at each set distance or time. On short runs I set them for every quarter mile. For longer runs, I set for every mile. I have it voice my total time, distance run, pace, current pace, average heart rate and current heart rate. This lets me know if I need to pickup pace or perhaps slow my pace because HR is getting too high. I really like going back and looking at past runs and comparing them to my current runs. I know other runners like different apps and a lot of that is because of familiarity. I’ve tried the most popular ones and I’ll not change from Runkeeper unless something incredible is released.

Great app, but opportunities for improvement. I really like my fit bit Charge 2 and all of the aspects of my health that I can track with the app. Sometimes the app is way off on distance. On November 3 I ran 4.7 miles but it recorded 6.1 miles. On December 1, my daughter ran 3 miles and it recorded 4.7 miles. When you look at the map, you can see that the GPS is going all over the place. Runkeeper has a correct GPS feature, but the algorithm makes it just as far off in the other direction. One time it overstated my run by a mile and after I used the correct GPS it understated my run by a mile. I think there are opportunities to enhance the app to provide suggestions for improving your health. It would be great if the app would track your health patterns and give you reminders for small, incremental, and achievable changes that would have the greatest impact on a person's health. It would also be great if they could give you an overall health score, a compilation of all of the different measures. If someone isn't tracking something, like water consumption, that weight of the overall health score would get a zero. It would be even greater if the overall health score were validated relative to health outcomes such as costs absences personal perception of health, etc. Then you would be able to show a user how an incremental change in one of the items could impact overall health.

Runkeeper Go Training Plan doesn’t Sync Correctly. I purchased Runkeeper Go for the training plans and now regret it. I was excited to see that each training workout showed up on my watch. However, half the time it doesn’t sync correctly. The first two runs done this way showed up in the training log section, and in the regular Runkeeper log correctly. Then, one run didn’t show up in the training log section, but was in the regular log. That meant the training section kept reminding me to do the run and didn’t count it as completed. I had to delete the run and add it back in manually. I tried to contact support on that but never heard back. Then, yesterday, I did another run and it logged in the training section fine, but it was duplicated in the regular log - with one entry showing the red triangle as not synced. When I removed that one, it also deleted it out of the training log. So, I once again had to delete the whole thing and add it in manually. This defeats the whole purpose of having this app. I wish I would have never wasted my money on the upgrade.

Great experience until it stopped being reliable. For a couple of months I’ve been using Runkeeper and loved it. It’s simple but rich watch complication was just perfect. But over the past two weeks I’ve had three runs that I’ll start from my watch and see distance increase. However at a later time, like say when I know I’ve hit my next mile, I’ll check my time and the distance will have reset to 0.00. The timer is still going and luckily I run the same route in my neighborhood so I just have to get on a computer to fix my distance. But the point of this review is for users to beware that this app will spoil you and when it doesn’t work, it’s quite frustrating by comparison. I will keep checking for updates both firmware and AppStore hoping that this issue disappears. Update: Tracked a 5K this morning from my watch, reviewed the stats as my 2nd fastest 5K on my phone. Then I went to my dashboard to see my week stats and the activity changed to a 0.09mi run lasting 35 seconds. So I’m officially done trusting this app. I will leave my rating because it really was awesome when it worked well.

Data farming with a running feature. Because of corona I have to run outside. I got this app to track my miles and I hate it. When your running for time you need the app to move as smoothly as possible. This kept giving me pop ups nagging me to upgrade that I had to swipe away between strides. It’s counter intuitive in design and the first time I tried it didn’t log my run at all. My next run I finished and tried to stop my clock so I could record my time. I tired to bring up the app and it went to the camera. This happened three times. I got my wife to make sure I wasn’t insane or dying of heat stroke. She said you probably have to take a photo to end the run. So I took a picture of my middle finger and sure enough the app started working again! Then I got a pop up saying the app would like to access ALL my photos!!! what do you suppose this company is doing with your photos?! Who are they selling all that data to? That’s at best. At worst they are collecting your nudes for their own voyeuristic delight. How long before a disgruntled employee puts all those purloined photos online or a hacker gets hold of them. And all I wanted was a glorified pedometer. Just ridiculous.

Well played. I was super excited about this app! I downloaded it because I’m trying to get into running and I needed some help doing so. I set t up for my first 5k. I loved the personal running coach right in my ear. I love that I can still play music while using this app. I loved the helpful tips and coaching. BUT.... when I went out for my 4th run, I discovered that it was no longer free. To go any father, to have any more coaching, I needed to pay a subscription. $35 for a year or $10/month. Of course I didn’t pay. Rather, I went back home... and I didn’t ru. For a week!! I couldn’t find anything else that I liked that was free. So I finally bit the bullet and got the subscription. Of course I can’t afford it. If I could, I wouldn’t have gotten an app! I would have gotten a gym membership! But they had me hooked and I needed motivation to run. I’m doing the 1 year subscription, and then I’m canceling. If I’m not running in my own in year I shouldn’t be running at all. Well played Run Keeper, well played.

New issue: manual entries and Apple Watch. I have use Runkeeper for about 10 years and loved it. Then I got an Apple Watch. I was excited that I could use them together and even tried to overlook the glitches. But in the past 2 weeks or so I noticed adding exercise equipment (e.g. a treadmill) wasn’t an option for manual entries and also noticed when I entered a manual [treadmill] entry so it would record in Runkeeper, it is giving me double Exercise points on the watch and Fitness app (the green ring). I noticed it a couple times so did a test this morning. It was true. Did a quick 5 minutes on the treadmill. Fitness ring went up 5 minutes appropriately based on heart rate, etc...from wearing the watch. I went into Runkeeper to manually enter the distance and time from the treadmill, and in the 1 minute it took me to manually enter the info, the Watch’s green exercise minutes went up by another 5 minute. Please help! I would like to still wear my watch when I’m on the treadmill...but also want the distance/times tracked on Runkeeper. I just started using the treadmill instead of outside GPS activity only, so maybe it’s something I’ve clicked in terms of how it’s reading/writing with the watch? Thank you!!!

Good Apple Watch App, could be better. This app is probably the best Apple Watch app I have used so far in terms of accuracy of distance and current pace when your not using your phone. Although the current pace jumps back and forth a little much, it is very close to my actual pace. The face of the app in the watch can be changed while you run which is good and bad depending on if you accidentally hit the screen. The reason I did not give the app a five star is because it still can be improved significantly. You cannot customize the watch app on the phone app which can be frustrating. I’ve tried to change it so there is no countdown before the run but there still is a 3 second delay anyways. When you first start a run the display takes a couple seconds to come up, and is also hard to stop when you are tired. I like the activity apps way of stopping and starting runs where you simultaneously press the power button and home button on the watch much more. This will make speed and interval workouts much easier to track.

This has helped me so much. This app creates custom plans for your needs. It created a 6 week plan to run my first 5k, and to my surprise, I am now on week 5. The coaches are fantastic and very motivating. My coach helped me find the strength within myself to keep pushing and keep showing up every time. In 2 weeks, I will have ran my first 5k, and I couldn’t be more excited. If you want to make a change in your life, I recommend this app. This app also has features that allow controlling your music from the app. You can select a playlist to start automatically every time you start to run. The app also comes with an Apple Watch app that gives you more control as you run. There is a lot of additional features that make this app worth downloading and buying the subscription. Just give it a try. There is a huge library of other plans and runs you can try at any time. Lastly, I would strongly advise adding volume controls for the music and the coach separately in the settings. Sometimes my music is far too quiet for me to enjoy, and sometimes it is too loud to hear my coach. This feature would be great!

Favorite running app!. After Endomondo abandoned me, I was at a loss for a good tracking app. I tried Strava and a few others, but this one beatthem all by a 5k! I do pay for the subscription, however, it’s worth every penny. I am now being coached, and am a better runner then before. I am running longer and faster. If someone told me a 5k would become quick cardio day, AND I would have energy left over, I would have laughed in your face. But it’s now my reality. The trainings start super slow, and build at a good pace. If it becomeS too hard, I just repeat the ones before it that I can do until the hard ones become more tolerable and the next thing I know they are the easy session. Every now and then I do one of the very first session that started me off and I can see how far I have come. This is great for those beginning and those who are experienced. It’s nice to have a coach in your corner!

Love the app, needs some tweaks tho. While I wouldn’t call myself a runner, I’m definitely a person that runs consistently and this app helps me track my runs and stay consistent. I bought the paid version last fall because I wanted to explore the paid features, particularly the training programs as I was looking for something to keep me accountable while still being feasible considering my fitness level and lifestyle. I’ve done the 5k guided training, which I love. After a winter break I started a gentle training regimen with the app. I picked three workouts a week that are about 20 minutes in length. These are adjusted as you progress through your regimen. The frustrating thing is that there’s no option to “pause” your training program if you need to (maybe due to small injuries, weather, lack of access to safe running locations, etc.). So the program will either progress whether you completed that week’s training or you have to end the program entirely and restart from square one. If there is a pause button, I haven’t been able to find it easily. Please add a pause button to the training programs!!!

Some problems. App does basically what it should but has some irritating, basic flaws. First, the announcing of your pace is all screwed up – it doesn’t give you the correct pace of your last mile, or your average pace, or anything as far as I can tell. The numbers I was told during my run were completely different than the ones shown in stats after I finished. Also, the voice that tells you your stats during your run speaks WAY too slowly and enunciates every syllable in a harsh, grating way. Would be helpful if I had hearing problems but it’s annoying and unnecessary. There are issues when you ask for stats every mile – often it announces you’ve run e.g. 2.01 miles. Seriously?! And when I ran with it yesterday, it said I had run “one miles.” This is like programming 101! Come on guys, get it together! I turned off the voice because I got sick of running a mile and hearing “Total distance. One. Point. Zero. One. Miles.....Average Pace. Seven minutes. Forty two seconds. Per mile.......Total time. Seven minutes. Forty three seconds.”

Great and Simple to Use!. This app is really helpful for people of all categories of running. It’s lighthearted, cheerful, enthusiastic, and very encouraging. After a few times of usage, it is one of the easiest running apps I’ve encountered. There are a LOT of features you can access that help with different areas of expertise and determination levels. It’s even pretty good for those who aren’t looking for a community aspect to their exercising (although it does offer a community aspect). Overall, it helps you keep track of a lot of different measurements, and the voices for announcing your stats are adorable! Honestly, that’s my favorite part about this app. I only wish there were more! I think it’s really fun to alternate between the voices depending on your music and what kind of exercise you’re feeling that day. I haven’t yet tried setting goals, but there are some pretty good options for them! There’s also a planned marathon-type option for those who are looking to really get serious! Overall, this app is really helpful, unique, and fun. Hope everyone enjoys it!

Very good but needs some improvements.. I’ve been using it for about 3 weeks and 9 runs. Everything works well but I have had some glitches on occasions. Once my activity just ended abruptly at the 7th mile of an 11 mile run. I couldn’t restart , so I had to start another activity for the rest of my run. I use an Apple Watch to control the app. Another thing that I don’t like is there is no way to revert back to a run activity if you accidentally press the end button on the watch. All you can do is Save or Discard. It would be nice to have a cancel option so you can return it the Resume/End option screen. I’m hoping the new version released recently fixes this. I know these are my fault but it would be nice to have more options if you press the wrong button which is easy to do while running. I’ve also had the notifications turnoff for no reason. I think Runkeeper has the potential to be a five star app but for now all I can give it is four.

Completely worth it. I love Runkeeper. I had it a long time ago, stopped running, and started back up with a new email. I was able to contact customer support and actually import my old logs to my new Runkeeper account. I paid for the upgrade to Go! back in August when it was on sale and I really enjoy it. When I finish the training program I'm on now from my local running store, I'm looking forward to their training programs. I love seeing how much I have improved over time, it's extremely motivating. Even though I'm struggling now, I can see that it's because I'm going so much further and faster than I was before. The one thing I’d like to see improved is the “this week” and “last week”. I’d like to be able to choose whether my “week” starts on Sunday or Monday, that way I could plan my runs in my planner and they’d match up with Runkeeper.

Using it since 2013.... This does a good job of mapping and providing useful feedback even in the free version. I appreciated in the past the global runs and little challenges and the community building early on when I was running the Boston Marathon in 2014 and got to visit their office! When I’ve been able to afford it and been training for something I’ve found it worth upgrading to the paid Go subscription and in general, when i can afford it, I’ve liked supporting this Boston based company. Not sure about all the ASICS integrations, I’ve not been training so much since that happened, but we’ll see. So far the customer service has been helpful, like reversing my recent renewal which didn’t give any notice and which I wasn’t able to afford at this time. Appreciated the understanding — that kind of customer treatment keeps you around and coming back when you can.

Great Run Tracking App. I have racked up nearly 200 runs and almost 1,000 Miles over the last 2 years on Asics Run Keeper and it is a really great app that I would recommend to anyone. It is very accurate; it allows you to listen to your music while tracking; and it has voice reminders that you can set to your preferred setting that are very helpful. It also lets you manually enter your shoe by brand and model and keeps track of how many miles you've run in them while giving you alerts when it's time for a new pair. I have been using the free version and have never purchased anything from it and I am more than satisfied. Not over the top on pushing you to buy subscriptions either which is nice. Asics has never reached out to me or compensated me for any of this review. It is completely honest from someone who considers themself an avid runner. This is a great run tracking app that is designed well and very functional for a "phone runner".

Been using 6 Years, It’s gone way downhill. Started using this app in 2013. I’ve logged 1,349 activities. But in the past two years, the app just randomly quits in the middle of a workout. I’ve tried uninstalling, RE-installing. I’ve tried on my watch and my phone and on various versions of iOS. There’s only one consistent thing about it... crashing. This evening I was going for a PR on running distance. I have a long sordid history of injuries so getting back out and running any kind of distance is big for me. Hitting a PR is an especially tall task given the fact that my orthopedist told me I’d never run again. I’ve overcome a lot to get to the point where I am today. 1 mile away from my goal and the app crashed. My watch battery was good. My music app was streaming music fine so I know I had a solid data connection. The app did what it does on just about every workout... it just randomly stops tracking the workout. This problem started about 2 years ago. At first it was random and rare. Then, it started happening more often. This year has been the worst since I’ve been using it. If ASICS didn’t have the capital to stand behind the product they shouldn’t have invested. I’ll have to try the PR again but record it on a reliable app.

Long time user - will switch to another running app. I’ve been using RK since 2010. It was the best app ever for stats, GPS accuracy, and training plans. I’ve been a paying subscriber for many years and I loved the audio couching plans, which were very serious and truly helped me prepare for races, from 5k to half marathons. Now these plans are completely gone. I tried many times to set up a “personal” plan for a race, but what I get is a lousy 4-day plan (while I want to run 5-6 days), with vague instructions about comfortable, slow, long runs, etc. No variation, no audio couching anymore. Why should I pay for this miserable service that I could even find for free somewhere else? I’d rather buy a Garmin watch and listen to my music in my iPhone. Also, better forget about using Apple Watch, which will give you crazy stats and record zigzag runs in the map. I just don’t use the watch anymore with RK. So again, why should I continue to use this app, and even worse, why should I pay for it? This is extremely disappointing. I’m doing some research to find a better app with audio coaching and better training plans. It’s a shame to be basically forced out after 9 years.

Three Stars. The typical running/activity tracking app. I give it three starts for it has the basic functions that this type of app has. It tracks my activities, running, walking, biking, hiking, etc. It offers Challenges for you to keep yourself feel the sense of accomplishment. However, the activities are not special, because you will find them in almost any other apps just like it. I am not a hardcore runner or anything in particular for that matter, so it suits my basic needs. Now the two starts it doesn’t earn. The user interface is very boring. At times, it’s rather confuse to do or wouldn’t do what it wants me to do. For example, I want to add the shoes I use to run with. It doesn’t allow you to track the dates where of you are switching shoes during the week. It will not allow me to go back to the day before and add the shoes that I am currently adding today. It will over ride any other shoes on record in between the dates. The accuracy of the distance being track. But then again, this is a hard one for any apps to master, for that matter. However, I run the same distance most of the time, but the app will track it with quite a margin in the differences.

More coach Erin, please 💛💛💛. Erin’s 5k coaching turned me into a lover of running. I have always hated running with a particular kind of psychological stuckness. I’ve done multiple sprint triathlons— and WALKED the running part. Just. Couldn’t. Deal. Until Erin’s encouraging, contagious positivity snapped me out of my usual way of thinking about running! I look forward to my runs every other day and feel sad about rest days. Who am I?? Thank you Erin, thank you Runkeeper. Please please please add longer distance running programs with Erin. I just signed up for a half marathon in May. I’m nervous to do it without her. The best part of this app to me, is the freedom I get from my own head when I run. I just listen to what Erin tells me to think, feel, do, and believe about myself— then I do those things. There’s no space for my own self doubt or internal resistance. She is an incredible coach and brings so much value to this app. Thank you!

Walking with Runkeeper. I guess my motivation is to try to stay a little healthy. But, walking allows me to find new restaurants, shops and things I missed most of my life by driving. Since May 5, 2020 I have walked 1,155 plus miles, Runkeeper helps me walk a little faster, try a little harder. It helps me not watch TV. At 68 years old, it’s like a little companion. A couple of features I would like to see, a break button or two, one for a bathroom stop and another for a food break. Here’s how they could work, there would be a pause button, if you tap that, you then select bathroom or food stop, bathroom break, 5 minutes, food stop, 30 minutes or an hour, once the app notices your on the move again, it starts itself, but doesn’t speak until you start actually moving more than three or four inches. I sometimes walk 3-5 hours in a day, but, if I stop to eat, sometimes I forget to restart the app. It would also be great, if you had walking contest, not just running. It would probably motivate me to walk even more. Just saying!!! Enjoy!

Enjoyable to Dreadful. I’m not new to fitness but I am new to running, so this app was really great for me initially! I loved how much it motivated me and provided enough recovery between intervals. I couldn’t wait for the next day to run again. But it got dreadful quick. Not that the app is bad, it’s still good.... I just wish I could tailor my training programs to accommodate my health conditions. Not only am I new to running, but also have asthma and a heart arrhythmia. Immediately jumping to 30 seconds to catch my breathe is not sufficient to go back into 90 seconds of running. It would be great to have options that provided appropriate rest:run times that matched these guidelines for the special population. It’s even worse feeling bad about yourself for not jumping right into the run because of still trying to catch my breath with my heart rate pushing 200bpm. I just wish that this app provided a little more flexibility within training programs, being mindful of those with health conditions who are trying to work through them.

Overall Good, Could Benefit from Customizability. This app led me to my first successful marathon, so I can’t complain too much! The paid version provides a “custom” training plan based on your pace goals and race date, but there’s no adjusting the plan once it’s been dictated. You can’t adjust the days of your planned runs (though you can complete them earlier or later if needed, they just show up as if you’ve skipped them) or adjust your pacing/pace goals if you’re not meeting your metrics. You can’t add scheduled days off if you’ll be out of town or if you get sick. The plans seem to be identical each time (I just started a second marathon plan and it’s the same as the first one was), and there’s no way to customize if you feel like you need to do more sprint workouts vs relaxed runs. I also wish there was a way to set plans not based on race distance (i.e, to make it a goal to run faster overall, rather than aiming for a specific distance).

Disappointed. So I used this app several years ago, back when I was actively running. I had a heart issue that put a halt to that, but now I’m able to start running again. I downloaded Runkeeper yesterday thinking it would be the same great app, but there’s been a lot of changes. Initially I thought the app just became a bit slicker, which is fine. But now I see you have to have a subscription for any training plan. Those used to be free, or at least some of them were. So then I thought the 5k training plan was the only free one, which I was willing to work with, but after the first few runs I notice that’s behind a subscription too! I understand the app and developers need to make money for their work, but it would’ve been nice to at least have a couple training plans that were still free. I always loved Runkeeper, but I already have several subscriptions to other apps and really don’t want to have to add another. Everything is a subscription these days which is kinda annoying. I’d rather just pay a one time flat fee. Oh well. Guess I’ll see what other free run apps are out there.

Best displayon Apple Watch 2, but simply not trustworthy. I’ve tried and ran with all the major running apps - Nike+, strava, etc. while training this year for a marathon. Runkeeper would easily be my favorite if it worked correctly. Lately the total time has been showing a consistent 0:03 on the Apple Watch 2 no matter how long you’re running. Sometimes swiping the watch screen to the pause page and then back fixes this, sometimes it doesn’t. Then it will also bug out and ruin your runs. For example, on my marathon training run today, during the 19th mile (of 20) the Watch app randomly added 10 miles to my total, and started reading 29 miles. All the averages and pace changed to numbers as if I had gone that far. I thought I could fix it on the phoneme online post run, but the run never synced to the phone, despite saving it after stopping. Now the Apple activity app on my phone shows a 30 mile run with the correct total time, but it’s as if runkeeper never knew I went running. 🤷‍♂️ Back to strava I guess, which doesn’t have nearly as elegant an in-run experience, but at least doesn’t crash and bug out and won’t lose my data.

Lost data. I have used runkeeper for several years and recommended to others. I have been very satisfied but now I have a major problem. On Monday 4/8/19 after walking I reviewed my progress and found that all my accumulated data had been lost for 2018 and up to the 8th for 2019. I attempted to reboot my iPhone but no solution. Assumed after my walk today runkeeper would at least update the two weekly walks. Nothing! I have searched all avenues of the app but cannot find a means to seek help from runkeeper hopefully this review will reach their techs or someone who has faced this issue. I’m not complaining rather I am just seeking assistance in a solution to my problem. Today, 8/3/21 experienced loss of data daily, weekly, monthly and yearly. Same as lost data review above. Sent three emails to support address but no response. There is no phone # to call so no response equals no solutions. This is a terrible customer service protocol for a longtime user who has recommended RK to numerous individuals.

This app is AWESOME. I absolutely love this app. I am not a runner and I used to hate running because the thought of it intimidated me so much. I didn't know what I was doing and I wasn't consistent because of that. This app provides guidance while you are running and let me tell you, it has made ALL the difference. There is a voice guiding you as you are running. It feels like I have my own personal trainer. I literally talk back to the voice sometimes lol. (You can also STILL listen to music as you run and the voice guides you). I feel stronger with each run, I can endure more and I just love the fact that we ease into things. We don't go beast mode from day 1 because whoever created this app knows that learning to run takes time and practice and that is why the app allows you to take a break between each interval - you walk for a few minutes then jog then sprint. It's really awesome and I'm so happy I downloaded it. The first 3 workouts are free and then you have to pay.

Great cardio app for all levels of fitness. Let’s just say...this app is hands down the best one out there. I have been weight lifting everyday the last 10 years (currently 24 years old) so I’m pretty fit BUT lack completely in cardio. As of this year, I decided to ramp up my cardio with a bike. Long story short - to this date I logged over 362 miles and counting since Jan 1 of 2019. One great thing this app can do is set and track goals. My goal for 2019 is 600 miles (50miles/month). The app allows you to track how much your progressing with your goals. Nike run app and others don’t even come close to this app. Another thing that’s great is you don’t need to purchase the app to use most of the functions. Even though I am now considering purchasing the yearly subscription, the free app gives you much more than what a beginner needs. Again hands down the best app and I look forward to completing my current goal and shooting even higher in 2020!

I love Erin - Runkeeper changed my life. I was not an exerciser. I was not fit. Mid-pandemic I decided I’d better get my lungs in shape in case I caught COVID. I was 51 (female). With Erin’s coaching in the “my first 5 K” program I became a runner! I started may 1st 2020. It is now mid January. I had a bit of a fall off in December- I’m learning to run in the cold. I have run over 370 miles since May 1st, I have lost 30 pounds, I can run 8 miles without stopping. And I had no major injuries. I’m in the middle of the “run a 10 k” training. I’ve had to re start 3 times (winter-cold-Christmas). But I feel like I have a lifelong habit now. My recommendations for new runners with a little extra weight and some knee pain (1) get new shoes and change them out every 250 miles (2) glucosamine and chondroitin supplements (3) let Erin coach you through the first 5 k. You will hear her voice in your head forever! (That’s actually a good thing-,I missed her a lot after that program was over. They should have her do more re)

Overall very satisfied. This app can be a bit glitchy at times (every once in a while it will just act like I haven’t been running at all for the past five minutes since my last audio stat, saying I’m still at the same distance I was before - maybe this is an issue with gps though…?) but overall I like it a lot. I find I can customize it more than other running apps, which I appreciate. There are a few improvements that, if made, would definitely make this a 5 star+ app, most of which fall under the Custom Run function: When setting up repeats of slow/steady/fast intervals by *time* (not distance intervals) I still would like to be able to repeat my intervals until I hit a specific *distance.* Example: 2 minutes fast, 1 minute slow, repeat: until I reach 3 miles. A similar ability under the Pace function would be great. I have used the app in both its free version and paid, and you really do get a lot out of the free version, so that’s awesome. When I do pay for the app, I’m generally training for something specific, and want to use the Customized Training Plan function. My one complaint there, is I’d like to be able to tweak my plan once I’m in it, without having to cancel and start over. Twice now I have started a plan, only to realize I set either a too ambitious or too modest goal, and the pace of the plan isn’t working for me. You should be able to adjust the end goal without canceling the plan. Change those things, and this app would be darn near perfect.

Love it !. Love this app I’ve tried so many running apps before and they either froze when I opened other apps for example pandora/Spotify or Snapchat. Also they were too much , for example they either have too much information or had extra options and honestly all I wanted was to keep track of my runs/pace/time/miles/and my running tracks so basically the simple things and I found it with this ! So if your looking for a simple running app I definitely recommend this one. This app also has other options if you wish to apply them but it doesn’t force it which is good. Also you can modify your entry at the end of a run for example how you felt during the run , you can add a description and even post a picture. So yeah love this app! If that wasn’t enough it also let’s you know when you beat your time or beat the amount of miles you’ve ran before.

This app used to be great. I’ve used this app for years and loved it. The last 6 months it is junk. The biggest thing is every activity I do with Apple Watch it multiplies it. It’s even adding activities to previous weeks so now I have hundreds of miles logged that I didn’t even do. That in turn is adding miles to shoe tracker and telling me I need new shoes after a few weeks. I thought maybe the app wasn’t compatible with my older iPhone 6 so I upgraded to a 10 and with no better results. Every activity I do with the phone when I go to save it the app tells me the server is slow and it can’t sync activity. Most of the time activities aren’t even showing in the feed, friends don’t get notified when I complete an activity. Now with the latest update they’ve removed the connection between the watch and phone so now I can’t monitor my heart rate when cycling. Now with over 5,000 miles logged I guess I need to find a new app to use. Very disappointing! Update: before writing this review I was in contact with support numerous times and seems there was no solution. They said they were working on it.

Inundated by sex advertisements. Well, I thought I would love this. The subscription service has good traits and I like the training programs that are customizable to specific goals and current activity level. The app lets you know how fast you’re going and calls out whether you’re at target or below at intervals you select. Great! Two problems I face that make me wish I had never installed it. 1) the maps interface consistently under-measures my distance. I have gotten so obsessed with this I went on a run with THREE additional devices, all of which showed that I had gone farther than RunKeeper gave me credit for. I suppose this is great if you want your race time to be faster than practice? 2) I consistently get messaged by users on the app who are advertising hookups or hot singles near me. I had to re-check my privacy settings to see that my activity was only visible to friends, but it turns out MAPS are hidden but activity is default visible to everyone. Getting pinged by users with half-naked profile pics is just a super duper turnoff. Runkeeper needs to do a better job moderating the community so that this is a safe space to work out, not a skeezy spam source.

Great but could still use work. In general I really enjoy this app, especially the way it integrates with other apps. I particularly enjoy being able to create my own interval run (I don’t know if this feature is only available with the paid upgrade). Cons however are a few glitches including the notification feature- I can no longer see new notifications within the app when someone likes or comments on a workout unless I go INTO the actual workout itself, and occasionally it will opt to shuffle ALL of my music instead of playing only the playlist I selected within the app. And every once in awhile the app will crash repeatedly when trying to save a workout, fortunately I’ve never lost data- just irritating to have to go out and back in a few times to get it to finally save. If they can smooth out those bugs then I’d be a super happy customer!

Reliable. I've used this app for many years now. It is reliable and functional. Each time I open the app, I know it will operate without fault. Every time I’ve experimented with other fitness apps I’ve found myself comparing them to Runkeeper and never found them comparable. As an elite member, my family appreciates the piece of mind the live tracking gives them. I run trails in remote areas and they know where I am if I need help. The interface between IOS version of RunKeeper and the Fitbit Versa 1 was spotty though. It took a long time for the Versa to connect to RunKeeper and sometimes it didn’t connect at all. I now have the Apple Watch 5 and the interface between Apple Watch and RunKeeper on IOS is exactly what I hoped for. Since the Apple Watch is a GPS device Runkeeper will run directly off the watch. The built in heart monitor is an added bonus. Keep up the good work Runkeeper.

Paid for Pro, Got worse. I was using free for the past two years and decided 2020 was a good year to try the pro version. This month it’s failed twice. First on May 17th my app states No GPS Data Available. But on the computer I can see it. Then last week, May 24th my run doesn’t show up in the feed. When I check Compare Runs, there it is, but incomplete tracking as I made a full circle, start and finish the same spot. Never had problems with the free version. So now it’s been three weeks and whoever was “working” on my stats is gone after deleting every run prior to March of this year. That’s two years of runs and cycling. Gone. And I ran my fourth fastest mile today, but RunKeeper tells me I’m 8 minutes off my fastest run. Why? Because today there are three runs of 0 miles, 0 minutes listed for this month. My advice, keep your money and don’t bother with this crap app.

Love it. July30, 2919; I have been using the paid version and enjoy it. There are a few things I will put on here because I am not electronic savvy and can’t figure out how to contact Runkeeper. 1-what happed to horse riding? 2-why do I have to pick an active for a goal-for example I want to set a distance goal. I have to pick from about 5 different activities. Well what if I walk one day and go for a hike the next day and after that I run. Only one of the activities are counted. 3-why is it so hard to contact you? I really do enjoy the app. There are just a few things that I would like to see improved on. I really like this app. I am able to pace myself. This app helps me to see see how fast I am walking real time. I like the challenges. They help to keep me motivated. It is fun to see were you have walked using the map. It would be nice though if it could sense that I stopped. It messes up my average pace when I stop and it keeps timing me. I just have the free version so far.

GPS glitches are really frustrating. I have been using this app for about 6 years and love everything except the glitches on the GPS/map that make sharp dashes all over the place rather than actually tracking the path you’re running and it thinks you have run all these dashes which then skews your distance and pace, it doesn’t happen all the time but I’d say 1 in 3 runs it does which is very frustrating as it doesn’t accurately record your run and can be out by minutes in pace and up to a whole km or more in distance. When you click the map it gives an option to smooth GPS but there seems to be a glitch with this too and it won’t actually save the smoothed map, only option on the screen is to then click cancel - it would be great if this could be fixed!!!

Please fix Watch notifications mid-run. Each kilometre a notification pops up that cannot be dismissed for about 10 seconds. This is extremely frustrating when trying to finish a run at say 5.0 kilometres - you have to wait for the notification ato disappear before being able to pause the run. Please fix! Also, it would be great to be able to current AND average pace on the same screen mid-run.

Runkeeper. This is my favourite exercise app. I am using the free version which is excellent. I look forward to walking everyday. I go on my walk with a small blue tooth speaker. Walking is great for keeping my mojo going & preparing me for my day. The app's male voice cues are designed to be very encouraging - fantastic - get Runkeeper - you won't regret it!!! Best wishes to all the Runkeeper Team - you have an inspiring product - Tim Hardy-Atkins, Collaborative Musician at The Miracles Project : ))

Perfect for the average runner. I live in metro Melbourne and at the start of every run the app tells me it cant get an accurate location, so I wouldn’t trust it for speed or distance if you’re a seriously training athlete but it’s perfect for someone like me who just wants to get a rough idea of distance I’ve gone. I mostly use it for giving me 5min interval notifications while out for a run so that I can make sure I run for the amount of time I want to without having to check the time constantly, as I’m not too worried about achieving a distance or speed. I don’t use the other coaching features and I don’t enjoy the ‘run reminders’ setting either where it hassles you to go for a run if you haven’t been for a while, but others may find that helpful. It’s good that there are lots of options. I also like that you can rate your run and take notes at the end to help with tracking training or an injury etc. Overall it’s very good, best running app I have found for my needs, which are pretty basic.

Would get 5 stars but keeps crashing and other bugs. ….I really love this app. So many useful features….but….about one third of the time it will crash in the first five mins of a run when running just with an AppleWatch. Did it on my AppleWatch series 5 and still does it on my series 7. Very annoying. As of the latest update Audio Cues no longer work on AppleWatch. I’m done with constant bugs and the only response you ever get from support is to uninstall and reinstall the app. It never helps. I think I’ll save my money and go back to Nike - not as many features but at least it works reliably.

Training schedule not working. While the app is in the most part what I am looking for. The training schedule is at times faulty. When starting a new training week the 3 runs for the week are there. However once entering the first session and returning to the schedule screen the first two runs disappear. So with only one run done onSunday or Monday the others disappear saying that this is only the partial training schedule and your. We week will start on Sunday. Frustrating.

Overall, good app. This is my favourite app for tracking all my workouts.. however there are some flaws that desperately need an update. 1. When you save a workout under a certain time, and then go back to edit the note, the time has changed by half an hour - which is frustrating if you are trying to link data with other workout devices or apps. Sometimes notes calories will even change at the same time too. 2. Some workouts will come up as an exclamation mark (error) but not explain the error or how to fix it - if you click into the workout, everything appears to be clear and working until you exit onto the workout list page. 3. Even if you link devices that have an inbuilt heart rate monitor, such as Fitbit HR, you still have to manually enter your heart rate as it can not automatically sync this with your workout. Sadly these have been issues for a long time now and they need fixing! Would’ve sent this in direct feedback to Runkeeper but couldn’t find how through the app! Again, love this app and definitely recommend if you are considering it.. but wish they’d do a big update!

Very good app designed for running. This app has transformed the way in which you can run the selection of choices you can have on the free version alone helped me and my mate enjoy running a lot more and do it more frequently. Keep up the good work Runkeeper look forward to see what you have install soon. On one note. The operation the app on iPhone 6s is hard can you please fix the gps location isn’t strong. Thanks

Love this app but.... I really love this app - in terms of its plans, what it monitors and the data and feedback I get back. Seem to keep coming back to it for these reasons. However two things that really need to be worked on and annoy me - more often than not my Apple Watch never starts working when I commence a run from my phone. This is infuriating. There is some sort of communication breakdown - despite installing and reinstalling etc etc The other huge deal breaker at present is adding Facebook friends. I have emailed regarding this several times but something is seriously wrong with this function. Seeing your friends running is a big motivation in getting fitter. Tonight I found a friend who uses the app. We both managed to find each other and supposedly add each other. But the status on both our phones said the invite was pending???? For the most part Facebook friends of mine using the app never appear when I connect facebook. I have emailed about this several times - been told it is being escalated somewhere and then never receive any definitive actions or solution. Very disappointed by this. Wish the team would spend some time fixing this up once and for all

Bug Fixes????. My app was updated this week for stayed “bug fixes” . Prior to this update Runkeeper was working perfectly - now - I am really disappointed . It keeps stopping during my walk & then it’s adding more distance than I am actually doing! My usual 7 km walk has doubled over the last few days - not in real time but according to my app! Please fix this!

Not really Apple Watch integrated. Watch and phone versions just don’t work well together in any mode. Last release boasted lots of testing on the icon design. Who cares about the icon when the app keeps losing runs and not syncing ? Apple Activity seems to sync but not the Runkeeper app itself ? Next release needs to be soon and working or I’m done with Runkeeper after many years. Most of my friends have already moved away. UPDATE: new release today. Looks nice on watch but I set phone to kph and watch ignored that and shows pace. Useless.

5km run program. I am really enjoying the first 3 sessions of this program. Used to run but have not been doing so for close to 30 odd years or so. Am now 74 so am taking it slowly. I know I am going to have some more challenges but if the program continues as it has been going I feel confident I will get there. The only problem which is a technical one is I cannot connect my iPhone Runkeeper app with my apple watch Runkeeper app even after following instructions. This maybe something to do with the watch rather than the app. Not sure. Any suggestions will be gratefully received

Good but not quite right on Apple Watch. It’s a good app but it needs better integration with Apple Watch. I like that it shows your runs and gives you options for training plans and custom work outs. Problem is it doesn’t update the Apple Watch activity rings. For example I could go for a 30min run on run keeper. It will show up as a workout on the Apple activity app. But it won’t update the activity rings with a 30 min work out. The activity rings will show only what the native app picks up which is generally less. The other issue is that you can’t delete custom workouts created. Would be great if it could fix these issues then I would give it 5 stars.

This app changed my life. I was already fit and strong. Or so I thought. I cycled, did weights, functional training, etc. Why couldn’t I run around the block? I was hurting myself and getting nowhere. Three things put me on the path to success: 1. Seeing a physio 2. Getting proper running shoes 3. This app, recommend by my trainers Although I had started using the free version to track my (failed) runs, it was the personally coached 0-5km program that built my strength up. Coach Erin was there with me (or so it seemed) getting me from walk/run/walk up to running 5k without pain or issue. I was a little caught out having to pay up during the program, but honestly, I love the coached runs now. They are brilliant and very motivating. They helped build speed, stamina and mental toughness, and I’m proud to say I’m a solid runner now. This has holistically improved my strength and fitness. Learning to also run slowly for recovery and other aspects have helped a great deal. Also great to be able to go back and assess and compare runs. And my dog is very grateful, too!

Why not sync with Strava, you offer different product?. Having recently moved back to the Apple Watch from Garmin, I missed not having Garmin coach for the Training plans. After some research, I found Runkeeper to be the best alternative for Apple Watch user for getting tailored training plans for a given distance (5, 10, half marathon etc). However, as I enjoy Strava which is more of a social network site to share my runs with friends, using Runkeeper means an absolute hassle to manually download files, transfer them across etc. Why not just play nice with Strava so I can enjoy the best of what both of you offer? Guess I’m back to the drawing board as to where I’m going to get my training plans..

Awesome App. With a subscription, this app trackers everything I need. I chose it because I wanted to track my runs with my Apple Watch and leave my iPhone 7 Plus at home. I also wanted an app with audio cues through my AirPods of statistics throughout the run. While Runkeeper will work without the iPhone, the speed and distance won’t be correct. It says I ran faster and further than I actually did. Probably the fault of the Apple Watches GPS rather then a fault with the App. I bought a pair of running shorts from Lulumon with a phone pocket stitched into the built-in compression shorts. Works well and keeps the phone snug and still against my outer thigh during the run.

Generally great but. …the last update seems to have broken shoe tracking, all my shoes are showing about 40% of actual mileage … and GPS sync from Apple Watch to iPhone has also gone, the distance is recorded correctly but the map data recorded looks like the route was run by a spider on amphetamines. When sync’d to Strava, one run has retained its correct distance, the next has vastly overstated it. So a few quirks in the latest update to be wary of

My favourite app is dying a slow death. I loved Runkeeper from when I started using it about 13 years ago, but as ASICS took over it’s slipped behind and efforts to ‘integrate’ it into the ASICS brand are misguided - they’re killing the app we loved. The most recent update is the most glaring example of this - all for the sake of using the ASICS colours and fonts, they’ve sacrificed accessibility. I used to be able to read the app on my Apple Watch without my glasses but now the fonts are illegible and I can’t read it while running. Somebody had the wrong priorities in mind when they revised it. The previous heart rate zone chart was way better too.

Works well with one minor bug. Writing a review just to communicate a bug to developers. Running cadence in iPhone appears to provide the correct average (running with a metronome, so I know what it should be) but the graphs are off, sometimes showing high, sometimes low. Eg: today I ran at cadence of 165 and the app recorded an average cadence of 163 (close enough) but the graph shows my cadence hovering around 156. Other than that it works well. I’ve started recording with this instead of Strava. Mostly for the cadence and customizable audio cues.

Quality has slipped. I have the premium version and have for many years. Since recent updates have been full of bugs and glitches. Can no longer start a run in the watch and have it sync immediately on the phone. Vice versa, start a run on the phone and it won’t sync on the watch, making it difficult to immediately track HR and pace. Issues with pausing mid run, thereby impacting pace, distance and time, all important metrics when training for a goal. Please Runkeeper, fix these issues because Strava is looking increasingly more desirable.

Great app - easy to use. Runkeeper is great - it can automatically track if you start running and forget to start, as well as combine all the activities you do in a week and show the calories you’ve burnt etc.. The only thing is is that if you want to add a route, you must log into Runkeeper on the web app, then create the route. Could this be fixed? Overall, really good app.

Robert. Sometimes we forget to adjust the activity from say, running and riding. We need to be able to change this after the event. Wonderful app. Second review. Not so good any more. Problems with audio info. Just incorrect. Eg current speed, average speed etc. Cant expand gps map on screen. Will cancel if not fixed soon. Already trying others. I have the latest 4 series Apple Watch. Cannot get it to talk to Runkeeper. Can u help me????

Best running app!. If you don’t care for the social side of things too much, I think this app is much better than Strava! The running plans helped me go from not being able to run 2km at once to doing 10km in less than 8 weeks, and now training for a half marathon. The personalisation of the programs is next level! I recommend to anyone and everyone regardless of running experience because it suits all levels. Love it!

Great app. Since Apple released their new iWatches, I can’t use my older iWatch to remotely activate this app on my phone. I want my phone to update me on my current performance, etc. and not my iWatch. Therefore, I prefer the old way how this was done. It would be good to have an option to use the watch: for activity enablement (start/ pause run) on the phone, capture heart rate details, etc. and synchronise with the phone while the full app is running.

Excellent...except for tech glitches. This is a great running coach app... after years out of running I found it soooo much harder to restart than I ever remembered! Coach Erin is great and I’d love to keep going but the frustration of having complete silence (just a timer starts when I go for a run) has bugged me to the point of trying to find a different, more reliable app. The feedback I got after I raised the issue a second time was “it’s a known glitch”...errrr, so what are you doing to fix it? Hoping to find something on a par coach wise that’s more reliable technically.

Training Plans Inflexible. Runkeeper won’t allow me to start a marathon training plan if my marathon races are less than 12 weeks apart as the plans need ‘12 weeks’. This is a silly restriction. I should be able to customise the plan or start the plan halfway through if I want - eg. I should be able to skip the base training if I’ve just recently raced. Not everyone starts their training from ‘zero’. Please fix this as this is the ONLY reason I’m paying a subscription. I’m quite disappointed in this inflexibility. The training plan is why I want to use Runkeeper. Otherwise I can just use the Apple Workout App…

Awesome tech support. I want to give a shout out to Adam in tech support as he provided me clear instructions to sort out an issue I had syncing workouts onto my Apple Watch and comprehensive instructions on how to export my runs. I already knew this app had the best running/useful features however it’s gone next level knowing there’s brilliant tech support behind it😀

Change the feedback message in the voice coach. I think runkeeper is great. But the feedback message when I complete my workout says good job think of all the croissant you can have now. I don’t think a fitness app should be promoting unhealthy eating. Croissants are about 100% butter. What about suggesting a green smoothie or a healthy breakfast option like scrambled eggs. Better still don’t mention food at all!! I’m sure there are better feedback options. By the way the voice coach I use is female with French accent. Cheers Melinda

Awesome free app. Easy to use, can pay to upgrade but free is more than enough. I used the free version for a long time. It’s more than enough. I upgraded to the paid app last year. It is very good too. It lets you track lots of different activities. You can even track the treadmill using stopwatch functionality when it’s too wet to go outside. App lets you track lots of different goals. I highly recommend this app!

1 key flaw but amazing app. This app is amazing, I love how you can set reminders to ensure you remember to run on the days you initially scheduled to run on. One thing they could definitely work on though is being able to calculate routes for you near your area as I often don’t really know where to run to as I don’t want to do the same run each week. Otherwise an amazing app and would totally recommend it to my friends!

Best Sports App. I have been using Runkeeper for almost 6years. I started walking but after 6 months started running. The Runkeeper app has motivated me every time. I recently bought a bike so now also use Runkeeper for tracking my pace for cycling. I don’t like that I cannot store my pace and distance cycling separately to running. If I save the cycle stats Runkeeper adds it to the running stats but that is not helpful. I would suggest you separate the stats log so we can track our different training events individually according to the activity.

Disappointed. Idisappointed with paid version (Runkeeper go). I needed to slide my training plan by a few days because I was sick. You can only move the next training session. Then it snowballs after that. Target pace didn’t follow the move so kept saying “0” on my run. I can’t see any support to help me with pacing. All it says is run at x pace. You’re x ahead or behind. You can’t even change your ultimate goal pace if you want / need. For the price you pay I expected more. Negative comments like you’re x behind your target pace doesn’t help either. Give me a idea how to pick it up. Pace me with beats to increase cadence or something. Unless things change and features are added I won’t re-new premium. It’s just not worth it.

No audio on Apple Watch. Great app except no audio with the Apple Watch unless you carry your phone with you, which defeats the purpose of buying the watch and app in the first place. It’s been long enough to implement the voice prompts, the watch is now at version 4, hurry up Runkeeper or you’ll lose me. I have a half marathon in a couple of weeks and I can’t run with phone, will have to change apps unfortunately after using this for all training over 5 months. Not good enough. The latest update is awful and I’ve lost heart data and it keeps crashing, will be looking for alternatives next week, decoupling was a dreadful idea from watch and phone

I love Runkeeper, been using it for years. I love how easy it is to use, how you can add photos, the audio cues, the maps, etc. I appreciate that I can use it for free with most features without having to subscribe. One little tiny thing, when it has the weekly summary, there doesn’t seem to be a way to find out, or change, when the week starts (eg Sun or Mon?)

Love the app. Great app. Tracks my daily walks, love it. As it’s too hard to send feedback to you I’ll do it here. Please don’t bombard me with what is probably useful information when I turn your app on. I am on my way out, no glasses about to walk so can’t read whatever your telling me. Do it at the end when 1 I have the time to read it (and my glasses) 2 I have the chance to read it (as all your doing is delaying my tracking and annoying me). If you had a feedback page I would have done it here but i can’t find it after 5 minutes of searching which is not great, though maybe you don’t want feedback.

Basic functions are free and work great. I had been using another free app from a big name sports brand. It was OK but kept changing the format, features and it would not always work reliably. This app is 100% reliable, has all the basic features I need, includes heaps of activities (I only seriously use the running tracker) and I find the stats meaningful. Highly recommend.

10.3 breaks important features. This app was the top running app in the Apple ecosystem until 10.3. The latest update has removed the good Apple Watch functionality, particularly around the use of the Watch as a heart rate data source. As a result I won’t be renewing Go next month, I’ll be looking at something else. Shame, it was the perfect running app for interval training

Why has Runkeeper stopped posting to Facebook ?. I have connected it and it was working up until the last update ?? - I have also disconnected from Facebook and reconnected still no luck - it just tells me that I am already connected but I can’t use the auto share page - I have to skip it then share it later , this also impacts when I want to swap activities and keep going

Bugs reported in the past are not getting fixed. I was hoping that the recent good ratings were a sign of things getting better, I bought a discounted subscription to use the Training option. First, when you create a training, it doesn’t check your previous runs to know your level. Second, the synchronisation between the phone and the server is way too long, never under 6h. Then when you run with the watch only and use the workouts, the synchronisation gets even worse. Once a training plan is created, and workouts are logged there’s no way of reviewing the plan and adapt depending on your performance. No use of the playlists on the watch app, so the stats are not spoken over the music during the activity. Positive point, I’m happy it was a discounted subscription. But I think I’ll have to look somewhere else.

Bugs, bugs & more bugs..... I’ve had enough of this app & it’s empty promises. The application sync between use of your Apple Watch & iPhone apps is a waste of time. Midway through a workout (run, bike ride, walk...) the iPhone app shuts down & Apple Watch App continues - well sort of. It crashes, doesn’t record calories, since the iPhone app crashes your GPS distance stops....Then trying to save your workout from Watch to iPhone? HA Good luck! More miss than hit as it rarely works. You end up having to manually enter the data on the website. You might as well use a pencil & pad to record your workouts as that’s what you’re basically doing anyway as the recording, syncing & saving functions are at best hap-hazard. I’ve persisted with RK for about 6 years & the same headaches never go away despite the continued assurances that they’re fixing things. Don’t waste your money on RK GO as all you’re doing is paying for a higher level of disappointment, frustration & application failures.

Used to be flexible. I used to love runkeeper because I could view my whole training plan in advance and it allowed me to scroll back and forth through the activities so I was more likely to train on days when I was less motivated. It also used to let you customise or choose from a selection of pre built options and now only lets you ‘customise’ your own plan. I don’t like the activities as much any more and can’t view the whole plan - have since decided to try a different app that gives me more flexibility.

Giving up - too unreliable. I persevered and persevered with Runkeeper because some of its features are really great - but it’s just not worth the frustration. It crashes during runs - not all the time but often enough to be infuriating. And when you know you just ran a pb but the app doesn’t save it ... :(. Plus the built in Apple watch workout app has got better and better - you can control music, start a new workout without ending the one you’re on etc etc - and most importantly is rock solid in terms of reliability. So i’m cancelling my Runkeeper subscription.

Yearly subscription too expensive. I love and use Runkeeper, I would love to upgrade however it's just too expensive, especially when you can pay a one time fee and receive similar benefits with other apps, maybe a cheaper membership would help get more users... I would give it 5 stars if it was less expensive, so unfortunately I'll keep using the basic version...

Love it, easy and fun. Really love this app! I started using it to track exactly where I was walking, and now I wouldn’t walk without it. I love the motivational voices, I use the Boston guy, and he’s so funny- I laugh as I’m walking when I hear him say something like ‘great job kid, you’re making your mom and pop proud’. So funny! You can choose different voices, and set the volume and time for responses (so you can choose to have it update you every 10 minutes, or 15 or 20, etc.). I also like that you can pause the app, if you’re walking to the shops or something, and want to pause while you shop. And it’s really good at tracking where you walk, so I get accurate maps of my walk.

Distance glitch. The distance measuring aspect is sometimes way off. As in, it has tracked my route, but then the map shows my path as skewing off abruptly in a completely wrong direction - adding extra kilometres to my measurement! ( a couple of diagonal lines through fields and houses not even on an actual road) - before returning to my actual route. This happened twice on the one route today. It said I’d done 5.6km but actually I’d only done about 3.5km (I know this for certain as I’ve measured it independently). Weird.

Apple Watch running solo keeps missing map and splits. Unfortunately have tried to contact support and not resolved. When using Apple Watch solo it tries to stay connected to the phone and you end up with a run that counts distance and time but the map and splits and elevation don’t work because it is looking for your phone. Only workaround is to kill the app in background, take phone of wifi. Walk far away from phone and turn wifi off watch and then start runkeeper. It’s painful as sometimes the wifi on watch reconnects near house as you start run so you still lose the map and extra detail. Have used Runkeeper on phone for years but love running with watch only. Don’t want to change but it is getting frustrating. Should have a watch only mode to force it.

First time user. This is the first time I’m using this app.. it is great! I love it ... it pushes you... ensure you change your setting to km/h instead of miles if your are not used to the American lingo. Keep running and make an effort... if the interval finishes and you can keep running for a little longer just do it! Nothing will stop u. Here we go my first 3km today after a while and I feel great.

Still loving it!. After four years of using it I still love it, but would love to see Stairs added as one of the exercises, I'm training for a stair event in June and would love to use that as I'll be continuing stair training after the event. Would like to see the option to be able to select the exact distance you want to do when setting up your custom runs. When completing training programs where we manually set up our programs we can’t select 1.6klm etc we have to go lower or higher. Being able to have increments of 0.1 would be great.

Love this app!!!. I have never been a runner but always wanted to 😊 I’m in my 40s and decided it’s time. By accident I tumbled on Runkeeper wanting to just track my waking distance and map it and within 5weeks I can consistently run for 30mins. Their trainings to run a distance is fabulous, motivating and keeps you in track. I love the audio trainer Erin, I really enjoy running now thanks to this app. The cost is also reasonable.

Best tracking app. I’ve been using Runkeeper for about 15yrs. I started out of curiosity and wanted to see if my commute to work by bike was improving each week. I tried Runkeeper and have never looked back!! It’s so user friendly, it’s free (which is amazing), and it gives you everything you could need. I love it! My favourite app!!! Don’t go changing RK!!

Runkeeper getting worse. I have been using Runkeeper for a few year now; but lately it has become incontrolable. Stops monitoring my run when it feels like it. Cannot stop sending notifications every few minutes regarding the camera not being connected. Stops at its will the music. Popping frequently the pay version option while engaged in running, etc, etc, etc. I just need the stats and music when I am running; not all those annoying interruptions from Runkeeper that takes the joy while running. I decided to switch apps and I do not recommend Runkeeper if you want to enjoy your time running rather that checking constantly that Runkeeper is doing what you want not what it wants!!!!

Inconsistent.. When it works it’s great. Unfortunately it will occasionally stop tracking mid-workout (and I have the auto-pause function turned off). Very frustrating to lose progress.

AMAZING. I have been using Nike run club for 3 years. Until my Nike app froze on my very first race. I used Runkeeper ever since and will never look back. So muck more In this app to keep you motivated and moving forward to your goals.

Keeps pausing. I used to love it, but now it pauses automatically within a few minutes, even with auto-pause turned off, and it happens while I’m moving. So frustrating when I’m trying to track distance.

Health Alarm. A fantastic APP that I can have my partner observe, this is critical as with high BP and High sugars if icometoa stop on the trails with no explanation it’s a 911 call with location 😇

Disappointing decision to unlink Apple Watch. Seems like every new version of RunKeeper since ASICS purchased the company 2 years ago is loosing functionalities. The last blow for me was the unlink of Apple Watch from the iPhone app in v10.3. I am Switching to another app that have more consideration to their users. I was with RK since 2015. I do need to thank you for the great partnership in the last 5 years to help me continue to Iove running. Hopefully the smart developers that started the company will move on to other interesting running app as it seems ASICS decided to kill the great spirit of RK.

So glitchy. In the three runs I’ve had so far, the trainer has cut out in two of them just as I hit my second or third interval. You’re better off timing yourself and using a free GPS run app.

👍🏽. Easy to use very helpful for me without paying any cost loving it

Custom Plans - don’t take into account tour workers. I’m only writing this here because I can’t see a spot to contact support on the app for iPhone. Runkeeper is overall a very good application and helpful, the only issue I’ve seen that’s changed in the last year is that when you’re making a custom plan it forces you to pick which days of the week to run on. Anyone working 12 hour shifts and a ‘4 on 4 off’ schedule will have alternating days they’re available each week; the old plans never made you choose which days to run on in advance. It’s an easy issue to fix and hopefully it is esp. for those of us that pay for the subscription 😎

Runs not syncing. I’ve been using this app for a couple of years now and I love it. However my recent run isn’t syncing/saving and I’m afraid I’m going to lose track of my runs now

Tracking. I am able to keep track of my activities. This helps me keep on track. Thanks Runkeeper

Age requirement. I’m 14 and I’ve been tracking my runs for over a year and suddenly I don’t meet the “age requirement” anymore?? Will this get fixed? So sad if I loose all my workouts!

Trajet coupé. Je déplore que l'app arrête souvent et qu'on ne puisse pas mettre un lien entre un trajet qu'elle a séparé en deux

Music doesn’t work anymore. App was great before but suddenly music from Spotify doesn’t sync with app anymore, can’t listen to audio cues and music at the same time... Sucks because I paid for a subscription but I don’t want to run without music and the audio cues were helpful

Won’t let me use the app. I loved Runkeeper as a run tracker. I’m a beginner and being able to see all of my stats laid out was wonderful. But one morning before my run it wouldn’t let me open the app and use the features. All I could see was a little pop up that said Runkeeper had age guidelines (I’m a minor) for using the app. I find this quite ridiculous as it says it’s for ages 4+ on the App Store. I’ve redownloaded several times and when I sign in I get the same message and inability to use the app. Use a fake birthday if you want to sign up if you’re ‘underage’.

Good app. So far it’s a great app that helps me to track and control my workouts

Very useful. My husband and I are in our 70’s, and Runkeeper is such a great tool to keep track of our distance hiked or biked, but also encourages us to keep a good pace going. Our goal for hiking is ‘never less than 2km’.

Running app. Excellent app for record keeping and pace times

Easy and effective. Super helpful and easy to use!

It’s just getting worse and worse. Garbage app won’t sync my activities. Only a matter of time until they shut it down or all users migrate to another app.

Awesome. Simply the best running app there is.

App has become super unreliable. I’ve used Runkeeper for about 10 years and have always found it to be pretty reliable until the last few months. Now it pauses tracking around 80% of the time when I’m tracking hikes. Literally everytime I get to the car and check the app it’s paused about 1/4 of the way into the hike. I track my year on year activity so it’s super frustrating and I’m not paranoid and have to keep checking it’s on. Am one pause away from switching to Strava. Please fix this issue from a very frustrated long term user.

What happened?!?. Everything was going wonderful until you guys updated the app, and now I’m unable to listen to my music while using the app, This issue needs to be fix ASAP. I hope you guys get back to me about it, Because none of the advice I get from support has worked.

It was great until it decided I’m too young. I’ve been using this app for a few months and it’s worked well for the most part. But all the sudden, it won’t let me open it because apparently I “don’t meet the age requirements”? I’m 15 years old, which is old enough for social media apps but apparently not for running? Anyways I’m really annoyed.

Not tracking. This is the third time this month it didn’t track my activity! Very frustrating. I have been using this app to track for a bit now and have 3953 km tracked. Seriously considering switching if it happens again. Fix the app please

Great app for tracking your runs and it very useful. Great app for tracking your runs and it very useful

Amazing training plan. Amazing train plan and helps me to keep consistent . Totally love it 💕

Solid. Good functions. Reliable . Very user friendly. Free. Just wish you could zoom into the map .

Boston voice. Love him. But time for some new sayings. Love the app

Thanks. Best apps!! Thx

Group motivator. Super simple all what you need for amateur sports stats + great to see you friends runes... great motivator!

Runkeeper. A great running app! Love it

Nice app!. Use this app for many years! Easy to use and accurate! Good job! 🤩

Used for 3 years and never had a problem.. It’s a great app for tracking progress on running pace, distance, and calories burned and I’ve never had to pay a cent.

Consistently shutting down and restarting. See title

Great motivating tool for sports. Truly the most thought out tool I've used so far for running. It has everything I need...and I'm using Basic! I can imagine the Pro version is even more interesting. One reviewer said it was "motivating". I 100% agree.

Bug about the age - solved. The problem related to age requirement is solved! Thank you!

Marche. Parfait pour nous motiver à en faire plus merci 🙏🏾🫶🏾

Good! Liked it. New version improved Expecting more

I like it. Just have basic and it works well

Apps keep bugging. I dont know why but I’m I’m thinking of changing app cause this on keeps bugging and doesn’t aling with the gps iphone 13 and it make me mad cause Ive been using it for almost 2 years plus and i will loose all my stat’s

Awesome. Best free running app.

GPS cuts out. I’m puzzled by high ratings for this app. It’s functionality is at best average, and reliability is poor due to GPS frequently cutting-out mid-workout, despite full cell-coverage on phone. Very frustrating.

Planned workout disappeared. I went running today (Sunday) beginning of my workout week. When I was done, 2 workouts of the week were gone!!! Did that twice since I registered!!!!

Frustrated. Runkeeper doesn’t connect to the GPS on my Apple Watch, very frustrating.

Age. It won’t let me sign up apparently I’m not at age when I’m 12 years old?? And the age limit currently says 4+ . SO UNFAIR!!😡😡

Great app with all my hikes/runs/etc backed up. This is an amazing app, it remembers my hikes, cycling routes and runs from 10 years ago. Even I don’t remember those. It’s very accurate and fast. Never hangs on me, even when my reception is poor. My only nitpick is that it could benefit from an island activity card. Those have been out for over a year now. That way I can clearly see that the app is running in the background and see my stats. I’m not a fan of listening to them. I also sometimes forget to stop the route after the hike, so the app records my car drive and it messes up the stats. A clear activity card would help solve that issue. Otherwise, this app is perfect.

Missing something. There should have the Treadmill option.

App stop automatically. So frustrated with this app. Stop by its own during intervals training. I'm really so so unhappy... Do not use this app

Love It. Easy to use. It tracks my walks and shows the route. And when I stop to chat it rests and waits for me to continue. The group aspect might be good if you’re looking for that sort of thing...

Stay away if you run indoors or care about heart rate data. I've been looking for an app to use to get in shape and find a pace for running. Right now, the best option for me is to use the treadmills in my apartment complex. Runkeeper claims it supports treadmill runs. Great! I decided to try it yesterday. I finished the first run in a program (yes, using Stopwatch mode as instructed)... and realised the app not only didn't track any distance but *also* didn't track my heart rate. As a result, I have no useable data about this run and cannot use the app at all right now. Maybe it's better for outdoor runs, but without heartrate tracking, it's only minimally useful. The one thing saving this from a one star review is the automatic tracking it does when I'm out and about. That could be interesting data to look at, but it's not enough to warrant a separate app on my phone. Sorry, Runkeeper, I'm going back to Nike. They're buggy, too, but at least I get *some* data from them.

Great, but want to set challenge in my preferred sport. I came to Runkeeper after happily using MapMyFitness for a good 10 years probably, all because of a roller skating distance challenge that is going on in 2020 that requires participants to use this app for tracking. I wish we could set our status bar by acknowledging our challenge within the app, but it only permits running, swimming, cycling, and walking challenges. Would it be a simple fix to just add skating or “any” to the drop down menu? Then we can see our progress bar as we log towards 1,000 miles skates in 2020, 250 per quarter, and 20 per week. When I tried doing the challenge as the default running, it doesn’t count my skate miles. Otherwise, I like the better dashboard you have compared to MMF. I will continue to run both for a while as battery holds out, but I suspect this will become my primary app soon!

Runkeeper much improved. I loved the Apple Watch app. I can finally leave the phone in the car. However, lately the watch app has become almost useless. In the past, it would stop after 8 seconds, they fixed that, but it takes what feels like a minute to load. To change different exercises is difficult. And finally and most importantly, it doesn’t record the runs at all. It freezes on the save/ discard screen. When I try to go back to save, the run is lost. On the few occasions it does save, it takes a long time to get it to show up on the phone. This app (for the phone, at least) is so much better than previous iterations. They had taken a great app and bogged it down with useless stuff. It's still there, but not so much in my face like before. I just want to keep track of workouts that synch with up and wethings, but now I can't do anything without it asking about joining friends. That's not why I have this! Runkeeper insights used to crash on me, but they have finally fixed it. This has really helped to motivate me to workout more. While I don't use the friends feature, I do compete with myself and an always trying to get a better time or distance. Very easy to use, love how it syncs with all my other apps like Withings and Up.

Either great or annoyingly inconsistent. 20% error rate in tracking runs. Why this may matter to you: like many I’m sure, I use RunTracker as a motivational tool. On my last day of running last month, I was feeling good, and I thought I could meet my goal of shaving 45 seconds off my average mike time from the start of the month. You can imagine my disappointment when I realized after the 1st mile that RunTracker had, once again, stopped tracking my run about a minute after I had started. It does this about 20% of the time, which is why I now check at my 1st mile every run to see that it is working. I feel like a better app wouldn’t require me to do this manual check. Otherwise, I do like the statistics and the rest of the features. I just wish it consistently tracked me. As a note, I do the same runs so why it intermittently works is beyond me.

Used to be the best. I’ve been using Runkeeper for years. Only a short break when I couldn’t get it to play nice with my Apple Watch. Now the “most awesome update for watch” has occurred and I’m probably going back to MapMyRun. First, I use my watch as a remote for my phone when I’m running. I can still do that but I have to start the activity from the phone!!! What kind of remote is that? How am I supposed to run when I’m concentrating on putting my phone back in my belt pack? I don’t have music on my watch so I can’t use it stand-alone. This seems like a pretty silly “feature”. Second, I used to be able to customize the display on my watch. I like to see elapsed time, distance, current pace and average pace. Now I have no customization. I could deal with this if I had the average pace as well as current pace on there. I had to use the app to determine that the pace on the watch is the current. Sometimes that’s how I keep consistent. Although I know some people do, I could care less about my heart rate while I’m running. When I’m doing an interval run the watch pops up stats at the end of each interval. I’d love to shut this off because after the last interval it takes 5 or more seconds before going back to the UI so I can stop the activity. Which adds 5 or more seconds to my activity. Sorry folks but I think you messed this one up.

It’s pretty awesome. I love that it’s not hard to get started and set up a free run, I also like that you can choose to try to train for distance running, but I’m not ready for that. When I did try to see what the 5 k training was like it froze up the app even after shutting down and reopening several times. I uninstalled it and reinstalled, now it works fine again. My one complaint was that when the app had frozen I used a different one a couple of times to track the activity and thought it was lame that I couldn’t update the same thing in this app so that all of my logs were in the same place. But I was wrong, I stumbled upon how to enter extra activities manually the other day, so really there are no legitimate complaints. Thanks for a great experience, and I love how simple and beautiful the graphics are to look at.

Review ... my use of Runkeeper.. I’ve used Runkeeper for decades, Marathons, and half marathons. I did have to add something, can’t remember what to add miles because the app would die sometimes after the 13 mile mark but now with my IPhone I’m able to capture the entire run.. it keeps me on target, helps my pacing, and I can post my run on Facebook after my run and more importantly my wife can follow my Run whenever I do Half Marathons (6 competitive a year on usually one Marathon) now when finished at the end of a race I don’t have to borrow a phone to meet me and where after a race. I’ll be doing my 21st Marathon, the L.A. next March. I’be done I thing 120 competitive races and love running... now in the 75-79 age group.. And I’m done with my coffee but still wired... I know, Too much information friends... sorry..

Great until this last update. I loved this app up until the update this past week when the link between my iPhone and Apple Watch was severed. I have yet to find how to make any of the interval prompts/audio stats go to my headphones. If this feature was going to be added it should be something you can toggle on or off and how it was left out for other performance updates escapes me. Hugely disappointed because I had paid for the update to premium not too long ago and this app is now completely useless to me. I’ll be switching to a different app and encouraging others to do the same. This sort of feature drop is not acceptable for user loyalty. Adding the following after reading the developer response for similar reviews: You either have bad product managers, bad developers or both. I work in the software industry in Product and never would we ever pull long standing functionality without clear stats it was not used nor would our engineers especially with an undefined timeline for replacement.

Great App, but shoe tracking doesn’t work. Runkeeper provides the functionality that I need in a running app. I use the free version and it accurately maps and times runs and provides audible pace and distance cues at user selectable intervals. It also shows splits and charts for pace, elevation, and stride rate for completed runs. All the basics I need are available in the free version. I have found a couple of glitches. When I complete a run and look at the charts, the elevation chart is completely wrong. If I back out of and close the activity and then reopen it, it is corrected. Additionally, the shoe tracking function, that is supposed to track shoe mileage, does not work for me. When I entered my new shoes, it immediately showed that the shoes had 105 miles on them, and then has never added another mile, even after 150+ miles of runs.

Frankie B in Transylvania Romania. Fired up the program and got going on Wednesday (four days ago) and nowRealize how confusing the initial set of questions were in particular: when I asked my goal I assumed it was to run my goal which toAccomplish a 3 mile run. Unfortunately I’m stuck and can’t figure out how to change my goal which the program put in is running a total of 3 miles which after four days I have certainly completed. I did sign up for the free seven day Runkeeper go insights package and time will tell if I continue. I wouldn’t of bothered with this review however, on the second day I excepted a 5K challenge program that was great for the first two days but now on the third day of the challenge I was locked out and couldn’t continue. These may be quirks in the program or may be my fault so I’m continuing to work with it and will follow up another date in order to see if I work out these little snags. Good luck tool and wishing a peaceful day to y’ll

Used to be great?. Cannot use it on my Apple Watch unless I give it permission to read ALL my health app data??? I’ve used this app for years and years. Nearly a decade, I think? Ive recommended it to SO MANY people. I’ve been totally happy with its tracking performance. I’ve always used it with Health App permissions set to WRITE ONLY, as reading my health app data is completely pointless for my needs, and raises privacy concerns. It’s also a functionality issue, as the few times I’ve tested it with read permission turned on, I find that my stats get totally messed up. It served no purpose for me, whatsoever. Since I use this app strictly to track routes, pace, distance, elevation gains, and write that data into my health app, I do not need it to read and pull data out of my health app. I like it off. This needs to be fixed or I’ll have to find a new app that actually works on my watch AND respects my privacy preferences.

Hoped for better. I have been training for a marathon and upgraded to the Runkeeper Go for a year. For the most part it has been decent but I regret paying even the half priced deal I took advantage of and won't purchase it again. There isn't enough functionality or stats when just using my Apple Watch, so I always bring my phone as well. I have set up some custom workouts the night before that don't show up on my watch the next morning. I have also had too many times where something malfunctioned and I lost portions of my run. Just today I was 3.6 miles into a custom workout and out of the blue runkeeper was no longer active on my watch and I heard it say it was beginning my first interval and had paused on my phone. On my 22 mile run on Saturday when looking at the splits I see very different numbers each time I click on it. It still works sometimes so I will probably keep using it until my year is up, but unless I see drastic improvements I won't even consider renewing.

This would be a five star review if they had good Apple Watch support. I run using a Series 3 Apple Watch with GPS and cell. I use the watch without a phone when I go running. I also have a run keeper go subscription and have used the app for years. I loved the app when I used it only with a phone (but I hated lugging the phone along). Pros * The historical data it records is awesome. I love being able to compare what I'm doing now with what I was doing for years ago and see my rate of improvement and how it compares. * The workout plans seem like they would be nice, but other issues have prevented me from trying it out. Cons * It doesn't start recording runs sometimes until minutes (sometimes miles) into a run. * It samples data points (like current position and heart rate) sporadically. I get a recorded run that looks like a caricature of where I actually ran. The heart rate data and pace data looks really un-smooth and weird. * It doesn't always save run data. A run I did on Sunday never got saved. I see today's run, but that one is lost. * No summary on the watch of runs you've just completed. * Apple's built in workout app does all of this perfectly. It just doesn't record history Inn a useful way otherwise I'd just use that I'd love Runkeeper if they could fix these issues, but they've been promising a fix for literally months, and there's been no sign of a fix nor updates on progress.

Works about half the time, so 3 stars. Used free version with my own custom runs for 2 years and it was fantastic. However after stumping for the premium subscription it started going downhill, and not in a running route way where downhill is a nice thing. Basically, the premium workouts are a mess. Don’t work stand-alone with Apple Watch. Sometimes lose their place and have you repeat sections mid-workout (clock confirms this- 2 minute intervals on lap 10 and timer says I’m 25+ minutes into run). Today my run wouldn’t even connect to watch, then it started blasting audio pacing overlay every 0.5k pausing the workout entirely but keeping the run going. Had to run entire workout with useless watch on wrist and phone in hand to keep manually pausing/resuming the run every half kilometer to get the workout instructions back. Will not be renewing premium subscription after year is up.

Good, but could be a lot better. I just recently started using Runkeeper. I like the time tracker feature (when it works, sometimes it just stops working on the middle of my run), the ability to pause the activity (if I see a friend I want to stop and chat with, or if Nature calls while running the trail), and the ability to compare runs. However that brings up an issue. I have been running the same route for over a year now, even before I started using Runkeeper. What I have noticed is that Runkeeper records a different distance and elevation for the run each time I run. Sometimes it’s just a few meters off on the distance, but the biggest discrepancy is 60 meters for the same route, and 10 meters in elevation for the same route. This makes me question the accuracy of the metrics. I’ll still use it, but if I were serious about training for a competition, I would probably try other apps.

THEY RUINED IT. I’ve never written a review for an app before but this update calls for one. Runkeeper absolutely ruined the app with their new update. It does not make things “simpler”, it makes for a terrible run tracking experience. I run with my phone and Apple Watch. I start the run using the RK app on my phone, then open the app on the watch and the summary pops up. This way I have notifications playing through my headphones, and I do not run into any syncing errors (friends have lost runs that were never synced from watch to phone). However, now they have apparently “decoupled” the watch and phone, so you are forced to start the run via the Apple Watch if you want to see your stats on the watch while you’re running. I also just tried starting the run on my watch to see if it worked better than I remember, and everything (pace, distance, total time) all stays at 0:00. So this app is useless. Until they add the functionality back to couple the phone and watch, I’ll be using a different app. Super disappointing, I loved Runkeeper up until now.

Please ADD the Skating activity to Apple Watch!. I enjoy this app.... I would give it a five star and def recommend if they would activate the ‘Skate’ activity for me to use on my Apple Watch ⌚️! I have to use ‘Run’ or ‘Bike’ and it’s a nuisance to log into my PC to edit my activity to ‘Skating’. The purpose I prefer to use this app bc is the ONLY app compatible to use with Apple Watch w/o having to carry your phone...! But I have lately been using other apps and keep searching for this reason - the purpose of me splurging for this Watch was to leave my phone at home (less to carry, while skating). Before this Watch I’ve been using ‘R****tic’ but it doesn’t have to gps away from phone feature. All this said.... all RunKeeper has to do is to add the ‘Skate’ activity on the Watch app! Seems simple enough since it already has run, walk, cycle and other..... pleaseeeeeee..... don’t make me search and learn another app... 😢 😏 lol

Loved this app until workout 5. I’m a former dancer who’s always hated running but something about this app has helped me move through that and I’ve LOVED using it. Until today. Like everyone, I’m very busy and only have a certain amount of time each day to work out. So when I couldn’t get the sound to work on workout # 5, I got very frustrated. I tried everything. Finally I called my best friend, who recommended the app to me and is much more technologically savvy, and she told me the same thing happened to her and she had to reinstall the whole app in order to fix the sound. After 40 minutes of troubleshooting, I took her advice and everything was fine. But that 40 minutes cost me. Please fix this glitch so no one else has to waste precious time trying to make technology work when all they want to do is run (with Erin’s voice!).

Runkeeper V 8.7 going Premium. After a month as a Premium I would say this whole ecosystem is amazing. I am motivated to run everyday and my VO2max has been increasing steadily... so many cool training options and they work indeed. ________________ After this big update including the Apple Watch app I decided to go premium and wow how well designed everything working all together. Started my new training program. What I like a lot is that you start the workout from the iPhone app and then apple watch starts automatically showing me a beautifully designed screens including audio voice when to start new interval. And then all the graphs and data you can get simply gorgeous. Finally the Goal options and how it works from loosing weight to getting fitter and seeing your progress. Really excellent... And you won't get bored with all the challenges it has hidden for you.

Decline in Quality of Distance and Pace Measurements. I have been using Runkeeper since 2014, and have used it running in places all over the world. I’m the last few months, the apps ability to accurately track my distance and pace has degraded. I understand minor variances in distance because signal strength is never perfect, but recently my pace has been wildly off on known distance runs. I finally got on a quarter mile track this week to see how bad it was. I ran several repeats of 1 mile. Each time I finished between 7:26 and 7:30, but the app would tell me my pace was near 7:00 per mile. In one case it told me 6:50. I have no explanation because I was running in perfect weather, with no tall structures near by. I really don’t want to switch apps because I have over five years of runs stored on this app, and the app has historically been great, but distance and pace matter to me, so I’m going to start looking into other apps.

Needs to have achievement for elevation gain from where you start. I have used this app since 2013. I have never given it a thought with the “highest elevation” achievement badge until last week. I ran up Stone Mountain near Atlanta GA and was sure that height would have gained me my achievement badge. Long and behold, I checked it afterward and it wasn’t even close! App said I achieved “580 ft” which was way short of my current achievement of “1020 ft.” However the 1020 ft was from one of my runs in my hometown of Washington DC. I know I didn’t run 1020 ft uphill. Little did I know that elevation is measured from sea level!!!!! Useless stat!! Would I have broken every record running around mile-high city of Denver?! The developer needs to reprogram the app to track the height more accurately... differential elevation height of a runner’s progress is more useful.

Works sometimes with apple watch. I am only able to get this app to work occasionally with the Apple Watch. There seems to be glitches where the app will just stop working and I lose my whole workout on my watch and in addition to that when tracking your workout on your phone it only occasionally will show your heart rate in the upper right hand corner. In addition if you sometimes start your workout on the Apple Watch and start the work out on your phone it will record your work out as a double workout but other times it will not and calculated correctly and shows your heart rate. I am very knowledgeable about Apple products and technical items in general and I have tried problem-solving and trying different things to get this app to work correctly for my workouts but have failed please help I’ve always been the biggest fan of Runkeeper but I’m not able to use the product properly. I am only going to give this a one star temporarily until we get this fixed.

Really good, but could be great. I’m not a runner, but a walker working up to running. So, I’m the average person I love the app over others. What would make it great is if the Boston Guy voice had more variations to what he says. Not a fan of the others. The heart rate capture, even though synced, isn’t grabbing average heart-rate from my iwatch, which is a problem. It would be great if it grabbed VO2 I wish the preset training options were varied. I know I can create my own, but I’m relying on the advice in the app. I’m not ready for a 5k, but that’s the smallest pre-set. I wish it included other activities specifically, instead of “other”, like Pilates or yoga. I haven’t tried the other option, but this app could be so inclusive and more than a “run keeper.” It would be cool if after entering parameters, like goals of intervals, high intensity, distance, etc, it could map the route in advance, so I am not left to figure it out. I understand those things can be personal so maybe that’s why it isn’t a feature. I love the journaling and photo capacity. It would be cool if it had video capture. Overall, this app has been a real motivator for my routine and is helping me develop good habits. It would be cool if it had a nutrition component too. There’s a lot of competition out there, and this is a good choice. Keep developing it, please. 👊🏻

Inaccessible to the vision impaired although it does talk. I am vision impaired and use voiceover on my iPhone. I downloaded this app today after hearing some ladies use it while they were exercising in the park with me. Sometime ago, I had downloaded it once and found that I could not use it so I had deleted it. Today, I tried signing in on it with Apple and I could not get in. So I tried signing in again by entering my personal information. It took my first name, but I had to enter my last name 10 or 12 times before it stopped telling me that I was entering invalid data. When I attempted to enter my birthday, it kept deleting it and telling me the data was invalid although I had entered it in the form requested MMDDYYYY. We vision impaired people have the right to exercise just like everyone else, and I am so sick of downloading apps that don't work for us. I was pleased that the app talks, but I can't even get into it to figure out if it is more accessible than it used to be. There is no way to contact the developer about problems. So it's gone off my phone again.

Update took away what I loved about this app. I’ll be looking for a new app since this last update where they disconnected the phone & Apple Watch. I’ve used this app exclusively since I started running a year ago. Loved being able to set it up on my phone with the interval cues I wanted & then see the stats on my watch. Now I can’t do that unless I start one run with the interval cues on my phone & then start a separate run on my watch to get the distance/pace/HR info. If I only run from the watch, the interval cues will just be beeps & the stats are yelled from my wrist (not through my headphones). They basically broke all of the functionality I loved & I see no difference in the tracking. Frankly, it was ridiculous to get their email this morning about “exciting improvements” where they then listed everything they broke! I had to start two separate “runs” this morning just to get this to work correctly! One on my phone so it would read my intervals & one on my watch so I could see the info. Removing functionality that worked perfectly well before is garbage.

Watch app only deletes activities!. This current version of the Runkeeper app is no longer usable if you are an Apple Watch Ultra user. I have recorded over 1600 workouts. Since the recent app update here is what I have learned: 1) Do not wear a long sleeve shirt or coat when attempting to record a workout. If you end the workout and the sleeve touches the watch, it will erase the workout before you have a chance to save the workout. About half the time it will actually erase and start a new workout. 2) Do not change the watch crown orientation. If you happen to bend your wrist during an activity, ie cycling, you will stop current workout, erase and start a new one. I posted earlier this month, got a comment back in the app, reached out as requested and then no response. With all of that said, the fact that I have lost 1/3 of my workouts this month, fortunately backed up by my iPhone Strava app, I just do not believe that the Runkeeper app is worth the time and aggravation. Sincerely disappointed!

Sudden big inaccuracies in distance/pace. I love Runkeeper and have been using it for running and cycling tracking for triathlon training for a long time. It’s the only app that I can create interval based workouts for time and distance. However, since getting an Apple Watch I have discovered that RK is always a minimum of .5 mi ahead of the watch and sometimes significantly more—about .15 per mile off which adds way up on long runs. I have looked at the maps for the same workout from the watch and in RK and RK looks like a zig zag throughout which is juicing up the distance. I also have noticed it sometimes says I’m running at an impossible pace (3 minutes per mile etc). Is this an interaction between the watch and RK when running simultaneously? It has it been bad all along? I have had to stop using RK for distance based training because it’s so incredibly wrong and only use in stopwatch mode.

Great free app. I have used GPS watches in the past for measuring distance of runs, but sometimes they would take too long to sync up and connect to satellite, and I would get impatient. I stumbled upon Runkeeper at the suggestion of a running shoe store employee, and have been using it for years since. It links up to satellite right away for me. It’s also great for distance and for a pace reminder to me to see my current pace matches my desired pace. I have even used it on vacations or locally for road intervals for 1/4 mile or 1/2 mile repeats. Sometimes it takes longer than I wold want to adjust the actual pace to my current pace, say if I am doing intervals at 5 min mile pace, it might take 10-20 seconds sometimes to actually recognize that pace, but that’s okay. All in all it’s a great app, and I am pleased to be using it.

Cannot edit completion types. I have used RK for 7 years. Over time I have seen it improve quite a bit, have a few bugs, then improve again. I have liked having all my stats in one place, even when gps in accuracies were terrible, I could manually correct some of those things to at least log my progress. This year I used the app for Marathon training, and on race day I selected Race Day as my run. What is frustrating to me is that, while my mileage in RK does exceed the Marathon mileage, the app does not “recognize” that I completed a Marathon, so my badges are incorrect. I can’t correct this. This is not the first time I have had this happen and it annoys me since I completely finished the plan (which the app sees) yet it does not tell me I completed my race on race day. I would like some way to be able to correct this, and other incorrect stats.

Still love it for a few years. I can’t remember when I first downloaded this app. Probably 4 years or less. I stopped using it in between due to lack of cellphone. Now I’ve been back with a new phone last year and started using this app this year. I’m still loving it and hooked on my daily walks. Believe me, I’ve tried other apps yet I still come back to this app because it feels right and comfortable with me. A big plus is a few months ago I won Apple Watch in the contest. Even though I’m big on wearing a watch but was never keen on Apple Watch because of bulky watch considering I have a tiny wrist. So I entered a contest just for hell of it and won. I was surprised to find RunKeeper can sync with Apple Watch. The more I love this app, it motivates me to exercise more. Thanks for this terrific app.

Fastest woman alive according to RK. According to runkeeper I ran 4.35 miles in 8 minutes. Someone get me in the Olympics. I’ve been using Runkeeper for about 5 years now. For free. And haven’t had many gripes about it. Recently I decided to purchase the upgrade because I’m training for a half marathon and wanted more access to my stats. That’s when I started having issues. During the aforementioned run, I was about .75 into my route and I kept feeling my wrist buzz (using it on my Apple watch) finally I looked up and it said I had run 4.35 miles. Discouraged and annoyed I stopped it and restarted it. A few days later I ran a 5 miler but the splits were non existent and the route was stopped and started at my house. It still timed me which was good. But if I’m paying for extra stats and charts, I want to see them. I don’t usually write reviews but I don’t know how else to contact them. Use the app. It works most of the time. Don’t pay for the upgrades.

Like a built in running coach. I’ve used this app for nearly 10 years and never had a problem with it. I even liked it so much that a few years ago I upgraded to the annual subscription and started using it for customized coaching plans. Now, out of no where, the app doesn’t work properly. It constantly pauses on its own during runs and doesn’t track distance correctly at all. Auto-pause is turned off too. The worst part, is when you try to get support you’re directed to a twitter account that apparently operates as support 10am-6pm EST M-F. They initially responded to my inquiry quickly, asking what type of phone I was using, but once I responded I never heard from them again even after following up. This is very frustrating. If I pay for a product, I expect it to actually work, and if there are issues (which sometimes there are) then I expect good customer service to resolve it. Especially when there are so many other running apps out there I could be giving my money to. I will not be using RunKeeper anymore.

Extremely Inaccurate. 12-29 - Update didn’t fix or improve anything. Still extremely inaccurate. I run laps, on an indoor track, that I know equal 3 miles. App. says I’ve run about 5.5 or 6. ??????? I’m a slow runner. I run a 12 to 13 minute mile. App. says I’m running a 3 to 4 minute mile. WTAF?!?!???? Are you ever going to fix this? 12-21 - App. waaaaayyyy overestimates running distance. Been running on an indoor track recently and doing a three mile run. Runkeeper says I’m doing between 6 and 7 ????? Because I change locations doesn’t mean the app. shouldn’t be accurate. We’ll see if today’s update improved anything. 1-5 - No, I’m not experiencing GPS inaccuracies. My GPS works fine for location and with any other app. It works fine in that location for other things. It’s your app. that doesn’t work!! So, it’s useless unless you guys can fix it.

Deleted data, poor support. I’ve been using Runkeeper 4 weeks. A lot of very good features, but some critical annoying features as well. I’ve been on 17 runs but only have record of 13. After correctly saving (at first I thought I was not saving but proved that was not the case). I only run with my Apple Watch so I save on my watch, touch close and it doesn’t save on my watch or iPhone randomly. I’ve searched support on basic definition and logic of calculations and search support is not helpful at all. Specifically pace can be current or average. Searching if average is split average, mile average, or Total average. Plus it would be nice if there was the ability to select specifically. I also set up a custom run on my iPhone app, yet it will not automatically sync with the watch. The only way to sync is to start the run on my phone for a few seconds. End the run, delete it and then it’s available. It has potential but these and other features are very irritating.

Runkeeper app. Love it’s. I use run keeper all the time. To track my local runs and hikes. I have been using this app for a long time. I love the current pace and average pace. This way if I’m running fast and have to stop and walk to recover for a little I can still monitor and keep on pace. Also love to try to keep up with my personal best on each route. Since I run a lot of repeat loops I can monitor and keep track of my times so I can keep up with improvements. Love to see the tracking as well. So I can just look at my phone and quick glance see all my dates and times and treks. Also best purchase I thin I ever Made phone related was the Apple AirPods. I no longer have to have a cord dangly. I have been using them for like a year and they are awesome. Runkeeper, music and AirPods. You will love running again.

Fantastic useful app with dreadful User Experience. I love the features especially the training programs and the tracking. I went through the 5K program for new runners and loved it, and ran my first 5K competition when it was over. But the design is awful. The interface is nonstandard, confusing, cryptic and clunky. One example: no accessible way to adjust runkeeper's voice volume as it mixes with music. Another: updating my weight requires a crazy series of taps and scrolling, again completely non-intuitive. Another: space characters display oddly when entering title of a run, disappearing until the next word begins. I will continue using this app until I hear of something better. But it needs a makeover. Update: I stand by my previous review. None of my concerns have been addressed yet.

1 Star is Exceedingly Generous. I have been using this app for a couple of years now to keep track of my workouts, and the experience just keeps getting worse and worse. I admit, I’ve only used the free app, and I know all of my problems - constant glitches, server running slow, workouts now syncing, app crashes - would all go away if I just pay for the premium service, or whatever they call it. Some people prefer not to pay for another subscription, when all that is needed is a free and reliable means of simply recording, storing, tracking, or logging their routine workouts. I happen to be one of those people, and because of the way Runkeeper purposely ignores all the bugs in their free version, I have no confidence in nor any intention of giving them my money. I also don’t have any confidence that my review will give the developers a change of heart in the way they handle their app, but I hope it at least discourages other people from downloading it and taking their business elsewhere.

Updated—they fixed it! Does not work with the Apple Watch (even 3). Update: I was reluctant to try out another disappointing update, but I finally did. I also didn’t want to get too excited until I tried it out a few times after the latest update, but it looks like it’s finally really working with the Apple Watch (series 3 at least). I am relieved to be able to use this app again instead of relying on Strava with WorkoutMerge. I’m gonna keep testing it, but things are looking up! Previous review****************************** I tried with the Series 2 and Series 3. Runkeeper simply does not use the GPS or the altimeter properly. It does not create a map or provide a course profile unless you take your phone, which is stupid. I loved Runkeeper for years prior to this, but I refuse to run with my phone anymore. After a year and a half of frustration, I am parting ways with this app.

Group tracking is bad. Group tracking is bad. 1. It tracks only running not walking, so you have to save your walks as running to keep the stats counted in group. 2. The monthly statistics starts from the day the group is created instead of calendar month. If you start the group on 28th of the month it counts from 28th to 27th of next month. 3. It doesn’t show current month statistics all the time. Some how it is messed up with the group creation date. As in the above example during 1st to 27th of the month it shows last month statistics and 28th through end of the calendar month (30/31) it shows current month. 4.For some in the group it shows correctly and others it shows as explained above. Can’t understand why? We tried uninstalling and reinstalling etc.

Love the app, but big watch flaw. I’ve been using the app now for the past 6 months and I’m loving it. Very simple and easy to use, and the analytics I get help me improve my routine. I’ve found a big flaw though with the Apple Watch companion app which caused an inaccurate recording of my morning exercise and move rings. When I first started my ride, the watch and phone app were in sync, but about halfway in, my watch froze and so I restarted it. When I did that though, I couldn’t find any way to get the Runkeeper app on my watch to sync back with my current bike ride activity on my phone’s app. It wasn’t very convenient, but I didn’t really notice what happened until I finished my ride. I have a loop that I do on Saturdays which is roughly 10 miles and usually tracks me for 45 minutes of activity and 600+ calories on my move ring. Today, because the two were not in sync, I only care in at 28 minutes on my activity ring, and 320 calories on my move ring, even though my iOS Runkeeper app says my activity burned 650+ calories. Developers, please find a way to force the watch to look for current activities on the phone whenever the watchOS app is launched. This is incredibly frustrating.

Recent updates terrible for Apple Watch. The watch version of this app worked quite well for a couple of years, but has recently become virtually useless. There are sync problems and the most recent ‘update’ left the watch unable to record training plans or custom intervals. So, it’s now basically a less reliable version of the native workout app. It seems the problems started when the company was acquired by ASICS. They don’t deserve the current 4.8 star rating, though their old versions did. Since I wrote this, they theoretically fixed the app, but there are still problems with custom runs. Did one today and seemed to work during the run, but no intervals were recorded. Instead it says ‘gps not available’. But the run I did right after with no workout selected the gps was fine. Why can’t the watch app work? For the watch, you get better data from the native exercise app. So, I’m still at 1 star since this was purchased by ASICS.

Yet another embarrassment. The last time I wrote a review for this app, I complained about the awful Apple Watch app and how strange it was to not embrace the top-selling fitness accessory in the world. On the same platform they are already on, too. A new version of the app comes out, and declares that they have a new Apple Watch app! Hope! Until I actually try to use it. The interface is admittedly better, but the stability and interruptions it causes to the running makes it completely unusable. I had to turn off my whole watch because the Runkeeper app kept closing out my run — three times in five minutes! This without me even touching the watch or the phone. It is frankly embarrassing to have a running app and not manage to let your users go for a run, without your software ruining the data tracking and disturbing the runner. The very reason for using the app in first place. This seems like an incredibly low bar to pass, and a scenario one would have thought you had tested. Get it together, people.

Apple Watch no longer connects-*update/resolution. Original issue: I’ve tried everything! Watch, apps, phone are all up to date and still, nothing works. I just paid for my whole year a few days ago!!! **Update: I have used Runkeeper off and on for 4 years and ultimately, paired with an Apple Watch, I feel my health and specifically my heart is benefiting. With the pairing of the watch and the app, I have a significantly better understanding of my target heart rate and how I feel and perform within my target zone vs. how I feel and perform in the anaerobic zone. I do love that. I also love the mapping, and training programs, to include the pace setting when I’m getting back in a training groove. Regarding the sudden and spontaneous failure with my watch and app not fully connecting, I really have no explanation why this happened. I tried everything, starting with turning the devices on and off, updating all software, uninstalling and reinstalling the app from both my watch and phone, and finally a hard reboot to both solved the issue. That was not a great way to spend 62 minutes of my recumbent bike time, early in the morning, but at least I have my app back 👍🏼

Superman, Latino Lover Superman!. That’s exactly what the Runkeeper app helps bring out in me. Of course, the app doesn’t instantly make you Superman, (it takes some serious life tests to determine that, insert your own on your own time ;-) ), but it sure helps keep track of my progress, or similarly my journey as Superman. It identifies peaks and troughs of when I’m fit and have record times, when I can increase distance 5k, 10k etc. it also identifies elevations which help me remember when I worked my thigh muscles and my gluts. It also shows when I have a lot of room for improvement! It also shows when my friends on the app are improving or just running. This helps motivate me. My friends also congratulate me when they see my records. Those are true friends! Now now don’t let your ego get too big! It must fit everywhere, so that others can see you! Superman!

Great for walking. I walk instead of run and this app works great for that. It's gotten much better keeping track where I am on the GPS. It doesn't get all the turns all the time so well because the GPS is every few (or more) seconds so it sows a straight angle line where I've turned a corner and should be a right angle (thus a farther actual distance) but, again, it is much much better than it used to be so I'm setting goals this year I never had done before with it. I have to add, however, that I really wish the GPS showed where I am more accurately when I've got buildings nearby or when in a building. I've been told that the signal bounces off of the walls of the buildings or can't penetrate through if not a clear line of sight. I'm not sure what the reason is but living and working in a city throws everything off most of the time.

Mostly good with one recurring glitch. The app usually works great. I use it for running and cycling, and for the most part I’m satisfied with it. The one glitch that seems to reappear is that sometimes the audio cues don’t work after I’ve started a run. This is annoying if I’ve already tucked my phone into my flip belt, put my gloves on, and am expecting a cue to tell me there’s an interval. Also, I’d love to be able to program in custom runs on the desktop rather than only on the iPhone, which is incredibly time consuming considering I’m doing a 20-week, six days a week custom marathon training that I need to program in. With that said, I’d still give the app 4 stars, and I’ll continue to use it. If i knew audio cues were reliable or if there were more desktop actions that could sync to my app, I would definitely buy the pro version. As it is now, I’ll stick with the free one.

Goal Specific Stats. I would like to be able to look at stats for my goal only. I set a goal to run 800 miles and today I finished and the goal disappeared from my profile. The app did not celebrate my accomplishment. Which was slightly disappointing. Also, I cannot look at how I performed during the goal period. I’d like to view: All time fastest run time for the goal period All time farthest run for the goal period All time fastest average pace by week for the goal period All time most accumulated miles per week for the goal period All time fastest average pace by month for the goal period All time most accumulated miles by month for the goal period (the current graph is not easy to read) Projected date for meeting goal based on past performance Currently, I can only look at specific periods of time, which cannot be adjusted to my goal specifically because I didn’t begin my goal on the first day of the month. I’m a runner and enjoy tracking my progress towards reaching my goal. I paid the yearly fee for insights but have found the charts and graphs uninteresting and uninformative. The goal data I suggested would let me know how I’m progressing as a runner and help me set mini goals to run faster and farther, as well as help me celebrate my accomplishments by highlighting great runs and successful weeks and months of running.

Apple Watch app crashes. This was going to be a 1 star review, but now a three. I have been using free version of Runkeeper for 2 years with no issues. In fact I switched to Runkeeper because of the constant problems I had with the Nike app. I decided to upgrade to Runkeeper Go at beginning of this year because of the good performance I had from Runkeeper and to take advantage of subscription offerings. Ever since I upgraded to Runkeeper ago, and paid for subscription , I have not been able to complete a run without Runkeeper crashing. I run for a few minutes and app crashes and goes back to “Press arrow to start run”, and I lose my running stats. I use it in stand alone mode. While running today realized app crashed at 5 minutes (had audio stats set for 5 minutes), turned off audio stats on Applewatch, finally able to finish a log remainder of run, first time this year.

Good app. I use this app when I’m walking my dog to measure how far we’ve walked. It works great and seems to have plenty of other useful features for runners (although I don’t use them so can’t speak to their utility). The only change I’d like to see in the app is the option to turn off the workout summary at the end. I monitor the distance we’ve gone throughout our walk and have audio stats tell me this information every few minutes as well, so I don’t need the app loudly summarizing our walk for all my neighbors to hear once we’re done. The workout summary isn’t silenced when the phone is turned to silent or when I turn off audio stats. I’d like to have audio stats on and the workout summary off ideally. This quirk aside, the app functions well for what I use it for and I would recommend!

Fix this PLEASE!!!!!. I’d really want to love this app but there’s ONE major problem that I feel has a simple solution and without this solution, the app is useless (to me). I often forget to stop my tracker at the end of a workout. Then I get in the car and drive home. Wel the app doesn’t realize that people cannot run, skate, skip, swim whatever have you at 60+ mph and continues to log the miles!!!! Like what?!?! Then when you go to save your workout there no way to edit the distance. Please add the function where after let’s say, 25-30 moh the app pauses as it recognizes that your driving and not working out. Maybe even still log the distance but at the very least allow us to edit the true distance! Again... This app is useless to me until this is resolved and I paid for the subscription. It’s highly aggravating to have paid for a tracker that cannot in fact track accurately.
