If you want to learn Japanese, use this app. I've spent a long time studying Japanese. I had flash cards and thick heavy books. But I always felt like I was stuck in the mud, never actually learning Japanese. This app changed so much! My favorite feature is the record function, were you hear a native speaker and then can record yourself and compare. A great tool on the road to mastery of Japanese.

Dame da/sometime later. Once again a new version is freezing up, new word that appears magically at midnight must have missed the bus I think the crashing and other technical difficulties have been fixed. Suggested improvements might include a hint as to how a word might be used (some words have a cloudiness about them). Too, too many non-japanese words. If we don't know a word our natural inclination is to say an English word with a Japanese twang any way. Everytime a new version comes across it crashes and then we lose the word bank. Nata wa gokiburo da yo. Totemo tanoshii kedo.... I have found that if I delete the app and then reinstall the app will work again, but word bank is gone. Maybe that is the intent.

Awsomeness to the max!. This app is one of the best Japanese apps that I have. With an app like this, it gets you waiting for tomorrow. One word a day is really easy to remember, and you can enjoy it with all of the flashcards that you can collect.

Not bad being free. The app is easy to use, giving you a new Japanese word everyday. It has a pop-up reminder when there's a new word added. You can listen to the audio pronunciation as many times as you need and can collect the words in your word bank. There is a flashcard function to help you go thru your word bank, which is fun and helpful. Biggest drawback is since it's free you have to decline upgrading to the full version EVERY time you launch the app!

I recommend it. It's a fairly simple app, all in all, I wish I could add words to my word bank more quickly. ( that may be a feature of the full version, but I wouldn't know...) Very helpful information wise, comes with pronunciation, the kanji spelling, and the English translation.

Ehhhh.......it's okay. Alright the app is ok but barely. Some of the romaji translations are off like today for example. The word was early but what what said was different than what was written. How can one learn if they are not being taught the right way? I want to learn Japanese but the developers, in my opinion, should start teaching us to read it kanji by kanji instead of thrusting words in our face that aren't even correct half the time.

It's ok. It's ok

v1.5 update erases your wordbank!!! :-(. Although the v1.5 update gives you the ability to add more than one word a day, it also erases the wordbank that you might've built up over months by launching the app every day! This is completely unacceptable and unprofessional on the part of the developers, showing such disregard for their users' time & effort. Skip this update & wait for the next one that does NOT trash your hard-earned wordbank!! I'll change my rating from one star after they fix this.

It only works if you give it a try. By far the most helpful tool for learning new words. The word of the day, I've noticed, has repeated itself a few times, but still gets a 5 in my book! The ability to favorite words has been useful as well. It's even helped me in real world conversations. So, I do recommend downloading!

I didn't know this exists!. What a great app! As much as I want to get the paid version, I feel like I should have at least mastery of the free version. The free version already has lots of information and is quite overwhelming. My favorite part here is that I can record my own voice while imitating the recorded voice and listen to myself speaking it. Again, great app! Arigatou gozaimasu!

Dislike this update... The latest update has taken my app from paid to free. I can not find a way to convince it otherwise. So it wants me to buy it again... Yeah, I don't think so. Sad too because I did like it. Though the old version I know had a number of words with the wrong audio file and a couple of the words appeared twice. Still, saying "Update me!" then "Buy me again!" really ticked me off.

Unless you are three years old don't dl!. This app is useless if you have ANY experience studying japanese whatsoever. The first word was hello, which was spelled wrong and had incorrect romaji. This app needs a lot of help, it's free and I still wish I hadn't downloaded it. If you want to learn the most basic Japanese words, type japan into a google search. At least then the words might be spelled right..

Helpful!. I like how you can hear the phrase. Also the word bank and flashcards are cool. It's great that you can change the flashcards to what language shows, to really help remember.

Los Angeles. This app is a complete waste of time and money!!!!! In using the app over a few months it was fine, the learning pace was slow but tolerable. It created a word a day database that I could review and build my Japanese vocabulary. When the new app upgrade came out it completely wiped out all the words I had been trying so hard to learn. It made all my hard work wasted in one app upgrade. When I emailed the company on this they said they would look into it, and nothing has happened!!!! Bottom line this app is a joke!!! Don't waste your time or money.

Poor file names. I have installed several of the WordPower Lite applications for different languages. The problem is that on the computer, they are all named "WordPowerLt 1.2.ipa" regardless of the language. When more than one of these applications is installed, then your hard drive will be filled with a bunch of files named ""WordPowerLt 1.2.ipa", ""WordPowerLt 1.2 1.ipa", ""WordPowerLt 1.2 2.ipa" and so on, regardless of the language. Even on the iPhone home screen, all the applications are just named "WordPowerLt". After opening an application and viewing the Info for each application, every one of them is just named ""WordPower Lite V1.2". This is just plain lazy and sloppy. Developers should not get lazy with file names. The name of the file on the hard drive and the name of the application displayed on the iPhone should all be the same as the name that is displayed in iTunes.

Wasted Money. Most of the words of the day are useless; I listen to a lot of native speakers and don't see how knowing the name of a certain old political figure or a certain beer is going to help me jump into the conversation. The audio stopped operating though set for automatic audio. The courses have mere 1 to 10 words per category -- pitiful. Word Power could be a nice app but the content is lacking. Rather than being motivational as promised, the effect is exactly the opposite. This app would be bad enough if it were free, but for the cost I feel robbed.

Not worth the space, or effort. The only reason why I kept this app was for the audio. Now that it's gone, I find myself not really using the app. Apparently the update removed buttons that don't work or don't have content for iPhone/iPod users. I guess the first gen iPad counts too, judging by a previous review. I assume that the audio coming out of our speakers when we hit the audio button is not there, even though we can clearly hear it. The rate at which you "learn" words is slow. I'd rather have my space back. If you're only offering a word a day, why not have it download daily, or at least on a weekly basis, so I can have those precious MBs back. The app is basically useless, unless you pay. I think using Google Translate works better than this, seeing as only one word, repeat, one word, a day is given. Not even a phrase, not even a greeting of some sort, nor a simple, commonly-used sentence is given. Just one word. I was given one phrase in the time I had this app, and it did not help whatsoever. I'd have to piece it together, which isn't easy since Japanese does not use the same sentence structure as English uses. I'm better off learning from sites I find off Google.

Ripped Off. I am a premium member of Japanesepod101 and received an email from Innovative touting the merits of the new version 4 of WordPower. I already had WordPower through the in-app upgrade from the LT version. Well, guess what. There is no difference! Supposedly this version has 4000 vocabulary words, but it is no different than the previous version and has a little less than 1000 words - half of the 2000 that is advertised. As others have said, many of the words in the latest two versions are of little value other than as advertisements. For example, Japan Top 100 words in the drink category there are a total of 10 words, 5 of which are brand names. I contacted Innovative and am still waiting for a reply. What a waste of money!

Very Helpful. It's good to get the word daily and study it for a few minutes and see how the word is used. For me it has been very useful.

_. Really helpful.. I thought the app was literally the same as the website but the website is accessible through the app so that was okay.. It can be confusing to use at first but i got the hang of it.

Do It. these apps r phenominal. however u should make all the lite apps free. i want to try the hebrew one but im not gonna put my credit card in or buy a card unless i kno i like it. Im sure more ppl would buy things if all lite apps were free

Great dictionary. This app is great for learning along side a class or teaching yourself. It's mostly common words too so it's a very practical app. I like to learn grammar from the genkii books then come here for more words to use in a sentence.

It works ok but.... Drop the Roman letters. They are so innaccurate. One big problem with this app is the voice over is hard to hear even in a quiet room. Using earplugs is mandatory. The VoiceOver is ok once you have earplugs but would prefer to not depend on them. Still needs to UPDATE the volume on the native speaker. I'm under the impression the full version has the same problem. One thing that would make the full version great is to add way more than 2000 words. There are other apps in this store that offer more for less. 9.99 is pretty steep.

Pretty useful. The app is convenient. New words daily. It does help build your vocabulary and that’s great. I do recommend this app especially if your a visitor of new to live in japan. Great on the go.

Disappointed. The app is currently stuck on the same word of the day from the day before the upgrade. The badge indicates that a new word is available and I receive the push notification, but the word remains the same. This current version is unusable. Too bad an update isn't sent out to rollback to the previous version until the issues with this version is fixed.

Fun and Easy. It’s fast and easy to learn, plus I never thought learning a new language was fun

Great that it is Free!. Good call on makign this application free! I like this app a lot, and it has lots of potential, but if it ere not free, I am not sure how easily I would have been won over... but either way, this is something worth downloading!

WordPower Japanese no longer open. I paid for this app before. It’s been a while since I opened it. Now I can’t open it anymore. The sceen opens and disappeared immediately. Please help me to get back to this useful application. Thank you KVM

Annoying. This app was okay but it was annoying enough that it only gave you one random word a day (making it impossible to put a phrase together). And now to audio is disabled and whenever I try to update it it takes over 5 minutes to start loading or it stops OR just doesn't load period. I honestly would not recommend this app unless you have a LOT of time on your hands.

A fun and convenient way to learn.. Recently almost useless with city and holiday names. You may get 1 useful word or phrase a week.

Word of the days. Really helps with learning the Japanese vocabulary. However this app needs to fix the update gliches which will close the app and never let you open it again causing you to lose all your saved words. 【T-T】

Lite but Its Alright!. I study Korean, Chinese, and Japanese at school and this is a great application to have handy. I get the words, or shoudl I say languages, mixed up sometimes so having something to help me differentiate the two helps out a lot. There are some issues, but a small fix should be sufficient to remedy them. This is a great application, nd I am confident any serious student would be able to make good use of it!

Not there yet. Great concept, but sorry, the execution's not there yet. As others have commented, the sound doesn't work (for me, it didn't work with or without headphones) and the translations are bizarrely off. Today's word is "eki" (train station) -- translated as "stop (for publish transportation)". I assume that's supposed to be "public", not that it would be a particularly helpful definition if it were correctly spelled. I wouldn't have understood the definition if I didn't already know the word.

It needs more words. For how many times I've seen repeated words on the last year it needs a better random word generator or at least no repeats in a longer time frame. Other then that I like the app. Most word apps only let you keep 10 word before you have to pay so this is good for my studies. I'd give it a 3.5/5

It's back!!. They fixed it without any word loss! (Thank you for your hard work. ) again it's my favorite nihongo app. I recommend it for the fun of discovering a new word and seeing how it fits in with what you already know. Great app!

Helpful. I like learning new Japanese words and adding to my vocabulary and this app has been very helpful in doing just that. Even if I already know the Word of the Day-- the sample sentences give me practices and sometimes introduce other new words to me. I don't like the when the word of the day is the name of some famous Japanese person or pop culture thing--for me it's not useful knowledge. Other than that I like the app very much.

Doesn't work. After the new update I installed yesterday, the app doesn't even lauch anymore. When it does, it just closes down. Please fix this immediatly.

Ok, I guess. This app was pretty cool at first. I tired out the free app first to see if it could help,me with my studies it's pretty basic on the quizzes. Great job on the explanations of the translations! BUT. The word of the day is really NOT on the basic learners level! You wait everyday to see words like: National Baseball Championship, shoulder blade, ten trillion and sprain!? Not really everyday words!? Not something that a beginner needs to know either!? How about words like: I forgot, I have that, I know that, and how do I get that. It's basic japanese. It should focus on basic words and expressions. I am living in Japan and I not seen one app, book or web site that tells you how to say "I forgot". It's always full of sentences, phrases, and words that only business people and advanced level speakers know. But this app has potential to bridge that gap. I hope that decide to do so. Until then. I give it a 2 Sorry

Desperately needs an update. Premium + user of JapanesePod101. The ABUNDANT ads recommended this app, and, wanting to take full advantage of my premium+ membership I downloaded it. I have to pay for this app on top of my membership... You could at least bundle them in for premium users... Also definitely would NOT pay 9.99 for the app in its current state. Please PLEASE update for iPhone X. The entire Innovative app family could use a face lift if I'm honest. Love the content but the packaging needs some love

It's just okay. This is fine for a free app but if you are trying to seriously learn Japanese it won't do much. It does not distinguish between kanji, hiragana, and katakana making words difficult to learn. I only recommend this if you just wanna see kind of like a little fact everyday-but nothing you will retain and certainly nothing that will help you learn Japanese.

Good stuff. The read aloud function doesn't get loud enough to hear over normal household noise no matter how I crank it up. I like this app though because it is accurate and entertaining.

Great app. It's a great app for a beginner or a person who already knows more than one language. It takes some time cause you get a word or even a phrase a day but you could combine it with other apps during your studies and you'll do fine.

Great program. I love you yes I have tried many that were very expensive and did not teach me as well as this house this is a great way to learn it gives you options it teaches you so much about the language I really wouldn’t be using with us I would never change I will keep learning with these apps for as many as they get and I can do I do have a little trouble with one or two but my voice wasn’t made to speak but most and with the help of these I have learned the language I’ve tried an $800 one and it didn’t do as well as this so believe me when you’re looking to learn this is it there is no other thank you for reading my review it is one of them best it is the best I’ve tried at least six Programs from other makers doesn’t come close thank you Jo Wadsworth

Kind of helpful. It'd be nice if there were more commonly used words of the day. Also, I'm telling everyone not to upgrade. It's expensive and doesn't prove to be a great helper. An addition that would be nice would be something that shows where certain sentence segments (Adjective, noun, etc.) go at certain times. The app isn't a complete waste. It helps a decent amount with some words at least ^.^ ~~~~~Robot-Seraph

Good. It is helping me a lot and this is also the only thing I could find

Pointless words. I have this in French and Swedish and the words of the day are practical and useful words like "car" or "electrical outlet" but for some reason the word of days in the Japanese version are hyper-advanced colloquial terms that would otherwise only be learned through advanced conversation from extended immersion. Words like "Hokkaido line", some political figure from the 80s, or (my favorite): "No left turns except for motor vehicles". I wish they would dumb it down a bit and use words that they can incorporate into the sample sentences so we can understand how the language works as opposed to knowing random trivia questions.

Very Useful App. Good complement to studies

Long time user.... I have been using this app for almost 2 years straight now!!! There are alot of things I like about it. Like the fact that you actually get the words when your supposed to. The sentence examples are great too. The only flaw I don't like is that some of the words they give you bear no weight. I'm trying to learn the language, no about popular anime titles or singers or famous people, if I wanted that I would look it up. I'm using this for educational purposes so somedays that you get those words it can be frustrating knowing you waited a whole day for such a word.

Great!. Awesome, easy way to learn a new word a day. I can totally fit this into my schedule. Plus the flash card option helps me stay current and sharp. It works for mr:D

ARIGATO!!!!!. hey ppl, this app is AMAZING!!!! if u think one word a day is slow, go to youe ipods general settings and change the date, u can get as many as you want by just changing the date a bunch of times!!!!!!!!! if this helped any one plz jusr say :D lol

new update problem. i can't open this new version! it keeps crashing on opening. i have had this app for about 9 months and never had a crash. Since updating i can not open it. please fix this.

.... It's stuck on 'fast, soon'! Im not getting any new words!!!!

Update 2.3.3. Add me to the list of users annoyed that the latest update just crashes it. Please fix.

Mr. To me it's useful.

This app is OK but beware of them. This free app is basic but OK. Be careful not to upgrade or get sucked into paying for any products from this company as in my experience they are a total ripoff and you will be very disappointed.

Great but..... I would like to learn more quikly without having to wait for a new word. I know that there is a "full" add on that i can buy but it coasts to much. If you could make some sort of update or somthing for this app that would be amazing! Please consider.

Great way to build vocabulary!. Word Power helps add to my vocabulary, and is arranged so that I can learn specific words, like for food, or test myself at different levels. I can practice just listening, reading or words in context of phrases or sentences. I find it a fantastic tool in my learning.

Great!. I really like this app, it's useful and I'm really learning something every day. Worth having if you're curious about the Japanese language.

Put it back to how it was before!!!. You seem to believe that just because you made it look fancy, it's better. Well it's a lot worse now! It doesn't give me a new word unless I sync my iPod on the computer, and it takes FOREVER TO DO ANYTHING ON IT!!!!! Fix it, or change it back.

word bank erased. The latest update erased my wordbank which I had accumulated for months! Very disappointed!

Don't get this app!. WORSE THAN USELESS!!

Good idea, needs improvement!. Focus on extending into advanced vocab, it's too easy! Sentence examples would be good too.

Nice material. Ohayo gozaimasu. I'm enjoying the style and retaining what I've learned so far. Very accessible. Arigatou Gozaimasu

Love it!!!. This is vey good if you're interested in the Japanese language. Although it doesn't teach you how to use it in a sentence, knowing the words will deffinately help you out with understanding what the person is trying to say.

Orange. Useful tool and learn one by one.

Useful, but needs improving. It's a great idea- one word a day. Only problem, of late the words have gotten ridiculously easy. To anyone who isn't in their first maybe 4 months of study, it's pointless. Words like "anata" and "mainichi" are not going to broaden many people's vocabularies. So maybe words that aren't obscure but are not super basic would be better. Furthermore, for the beginners here, maybe an example sentence (with two or three useful sentences) would be beneficial. Otherwise, a great app- it just needs work. :)

What a silly app. This app would be ok except most of the words sent are English words in Katakana (not really Japanese at all) If not they are stupid words like the name of a particular person or train station or city which are not going to improve your Japanese at all. It also sends the words to your phone at midnight which is also a little annoying.

Painful. Deleted this from my iPad as it was as good as useless. New problem arose, always trying to download ,even after deletion. Up to , at least ,the 50th attempt to delete.

Good, but currently broken. This was an interesting app, until the latest update. Now the app crashes on launch on iPhone 4 and 3GS. Can we have this app back please?

Great!. I really like this app, it's useful and I'm really learning something every day. Worth having if you're curious about the Japanese language.

Annoying.... Annoying that alerts about new words are sent at midnight every night

It's awesome!!!. It's really good and has taught me awesome words, but I wish it gave u a word a day even if u don't open the app, like it automatically put the word in ur word bank coz I get angry when I forget about it.

Educational. Keeps up to date and very easy to use. Easy to learn more or less and integrate at your own pace.

truth be told. you start with like no words, then receive words over time. the words i get are useless katakana translations of western words like" du-ra-i-ya" for hairdryer, or "chi-pu" for tip. first kanji i got was wrong. the kanji translation given said "search everywhere" that kanji really means phone number. i never deleted anything but i got rid of this, dont download - save yourself time and disappointment. takes up alot of space too (300mb). almost all features locked in non-paid app

Fix it please!!!. Can't use it all, it won't even open...

Could be great. I think it's pretty good in theory (listen, read, record, playback). I think it would be wonderful if there was around 10 words to start off with and It needs an update of 10 words each time to make it even better.

HH. There are a few things to improve...... But it is FREE !

Latest update. With the latest update I can't play the phrases the learn proper pronunciation can you please fix it

Raül-Eba. Excellent App. I learn a lot.

Good. Very helpful

Still no audio. Since updated audio no longer works on iPad. Audio was reinstated on iPhone but not iPad, please fix as I really like the app otherwise.

Free?. I'm sorry but free is not what this is, this is like being promised a free sword and then finding out that the blade and shieth are optional extra's that will cost you an arm and a leg

So so. This app is pretty decent for learning random vocab

Very handy. Handy way to learn and practice new vocab. A great app.

Very Good. Fantastic app

Word power. Easy to access and use :)

the jap app. This app is not great cause of the one word a day; a little dissapointing

Great app. Incredibly useful and insightful, it really is helpful for learning the language. Highly recommended!

Work great!. Brilliant app! Works great, and is unique. Great learning tool! Here's a hint I found. The words are random every day, but they are all stored in the app. If you change the date, you can get a new word to add to the library. Just takes a bit... :(

Broken update. Was a good app before, but has become annoying and bloated since the last update. Constant crashes, a persistent badge notification that won't go away, words linked to the wrong audio files (the "handicaped seating" entry, for example), etc. I tried reinstalling it (and lost my word bank in the process), but no improvement. So I can only assume the app is just plain buggy now. I liked this app before. Very convenient for doing a little vocabulary building every day. But the bugs outweigh the usefulness at the moment.

Decent but limited. Limited to only one word a day- even a casual learner has time for more than that! I suppose for free it's worth it - but; you get what you pay for. Also, often my words and audio files did not match- it seems that there is no reload funtion either... I was thinking about shelling out for the full program- but 10 bucks? Just not worth it when there is such a fatal flaw in the system! Good luck and god bless you if you waste your money on this horrible version of the program!

Not bad!. Apart from occasional error, it's not a bad app overall.

Excellent. This is very neat. It's easy to use and takes very little time. It's fun. I admit I would also prefer getting more words per day.

Simply awesome. Great vocabulary builder. Nicely designed. Can't beat the price.

Cool ^^. Cool app!

Amazing. Near perfect. Only thing they could've added is a choice between 2 or 3 words instead of the one random word they give a day.

Awesome but.... Could've been perfect but it kept crashing since the latest update! I can't even check my word of the day anymore. :(

Awesome but something is wrong…. Would give it ***** stars but it keeps crashing! Fix it please!

I love this app!. This is a great easy to use app. The addition of being able to change the speed is incredibly helpful but .5x is way too slow and becomes painful on long sentences. I'd love to see .75x added as an option.

Silent. No more sonpund since the last update :-(

Awesome !. I think it's great, I wish there were more words a day though, even 3 or 4 words a day would be even better : D

Great. Easy😀 and fun. I Love it.

Nice. However you need to pay too many features to have access to some basic knowledge of Japanese let's say (I use the app to deepen my learning )

Not bad. Pretty good app

Gr8 job!. Amazing!!So cool!!!!So good!!!

Did this really happen?. So, my whole wordbank dissapeared when I got the update.... Thanks, now I can't look at the words I had.

A very helpful app. This is a great tool to accompany all other methods of learning a Japanese vocabulary.

Worth every cent of "free". Really like the audio pronunciation of each word, it's what elevates this app from "meh" to "cool"... a big help!

SUGOI!!!!. This app is amazing!! A great tool for learning :)

Awesome. Great!!!

Awesome. Love it

Really great. I think this app is awesome and so far there's been no crashes or bugs. 

Only 1 word. Free app but only 1 word comes with this app. Don't waste time to download it.

love app but don't go for the in-app upgrade. I would definitely recommend the full version of this app but you should get it through the App Store and not try getting it by accepting the upgrade through the free version. The upgrade doesn't work but I still got charged for it. Had to go through Apple Support to get a refund.

Okay. I haven't really done much with it yet but I'm sure I'll learn something from it if I take the time to try. It seems like a pretty good app.

Excellent. Really love this app. Very helpful Japanese learning tool.

Awesome app.. Think my rating says it all.

Nice App in a convenient serving!. ***** stars :)

wondreful. i think this app is great. awesome that you can record yourself saying the word as what you think you are saying & what you are saying can be two different things. i would recommend that you use this app with other learning apps, if you are truly wanting to learn japanese. but it does make a great addition to your learning tools!

Great until audio stopped working.. My husband and I both had the lite version on our phones to help our son in his quest to learn some Japanese. After the most recent update, though, the audio button was disabled, making the app completely useless for our needs.

Motivational. Word of the day reminds me to take some time each day for learning Japanese. Also like the number and variety of example sentences.

Hopsicovy. Good excuse to practice a little every day but needs much more features. Most of all, the ability to study more than a single word per day.

Power word. it's great, I love this new app, it's more practical and fun. Than you and let's continue practicing.

Review. A pretty cool app whether you know hardly any to experienced Japanese. My only issue is that the flash cards make you memorize the kanji, but it also makes sense to have it in case you can read hiragana or katakana.

Hello. I've been using it for a couple of days and so far so good my only problem is that they don't give you the order of strokes.

Waste of an Upgrade. I to have been using this app for quite awhile and had a nice database of words I was working on. I got this "upgrade" and months of learning is down the tubes. I don't want to give this upgrade one star, but I had no choice. Thanks for nothing!

It's ok. I understand since this is the free version that it doesn't have many words to learn at first. But it helps your vacoburly

I wish a faster pace. Nice idea but Slow progress, I'm still in the basic numbers

Good For Beginners!. Simple & east to use on my iPod touch. More of a 'baby step' program to learning. Play mode is descreet and audible, but not for the hard of hearing. Not a translator- there is not even a 'search' function!

Works well, especially for free. Interesting variety of words

Pronunciation. This is a great app for learning and practicing Japanese pronunciation. The capability to hear one's own pronunciation compared to the Japanese pronunciation is the major plus of this app. The other plus is expanding one's vocabulary. The app is not for learning Japanese.

Waste of time. A week after installing this I have more emails encouraging me to upgrade than I have words. One week and I'm already getting duplicate words? At the rate this HUGE app allows you to study, you should be able to introduce yourself in Japanese some time before you die, depending on how old you are now. What a waste!

Fun App. Love having a new Japanese word each day to learn! Seeing the characters and hearing the pronunciation really helps. Thanx for a great app!

Works good lasts long time. Works good, doesnt crash and its free. If that doesnt make you happy, what will?

Meh.. This application does have potential, I WANT to like it but the massive problem arose that the application loads infinitely upon start up. Not allowing any use of it. So hopefully my having to delete it and re download it will fix it.

Nihongo. I think it's a good way to learn one word a day you'll be able to memorize and know the words

Nice. Although it brings me to other apps, there us still a Gud thing about it. Ul find an app where ul be learning how to speak the name if the fruits and weather in Japanese and how it is written.

Pretty cool. Only wish I could see more than one word a day. Also they don't show you the order of the brush strokes which I have heard is important.

Pretty decent!. Great app! The only problem I see is that you only get one new word a day. I would like at least two.

Not bad but could be better.. Just needs to start out with a few more words. One a day is ok, but could have started with a few more.

Could be improved. This app should have sentences sometimes instead of words. I don't mind the crashes but it's geting too persistent :(

This actually works get it.. I've been using this for a while and it actually works! I know one of the japanese alphabets now! :) GET IT!!!!!

New version does NOT crash :-). Not only is the app fixed - all the words in my vocabulary were saved. Very happy now.

Good. It's overall pretty good, but if your looking to master the language, this deffinatly isn't the app for you

Does what it says. The pronunciation is helpful, and it's fun to see a word a day, but sometimes it doesn't update one day, and some vocabulary is strange and almost useless.

Latest version. It crashed and I lost all my words

Great App!. This is a great vocabulary tool, and the whole package has a great design and flow. Well worth checking this out if you're interested in learning Japanese.

Seriously, what happened?. The previous version was pretty decent but now I haven't gotten a new word in a while and the push notification won't go away. I can't even find out how to turn the push notification off. The example sentences are nice, but the app really needs to be fixed, and fast!

Needs work. Okay this works better than previous version. But even though I sent you an email I never got my words back. What you should do is release a version with all words on it.

To be and not to be. It's pretty lame and good at the same time. If you memorize one word a day your good but maybe 2 a day? And it needs to start out with more words. And may I recommend USEFUL words. Honestly I'm never going to use lillypad!

Does what it says. Simple, straightforward app that does what it promises. However, there is no real order to how easy or hard the words are. I'm a beginner, and most of the words I've gotten so far are not ones I'm likely to use anytime soon.

Romanization?. The romanization has been replaced with Kata/hira, but the app still list romanization which seems to no longer be available. Romanization helps a lot when learning a language. Kata/hira was always there, but not distinguished from the kanji. All in all not such a bad app got way worse after the update.

Having issues with updating the app.. I can access the app when it hits 12am everyday but I can't actually access it by pressing on it and if I do it updates but can't do too not enough storage. I have 800mb left but it keeps saying not enough storage. Any help without losing all data on the app?

Helpful. I like that it gives you the word of the day and gives the audio on how to pronounce.

Easing myself into it.... Japanese is hard so I'm easing myself into it. 1 word a day is about as easy as it can get. review review review! what my teacher always tells me

Too cumbersome.. It doesn't explain very well what it does, or what it will do, or what it can do, within the app. With only one word on the first day and nothing much to do with the app but upgrade it, and an upgrade process that immediately asks for a password before explaining what the upgrade does, the app is lacking in usefulness.

Bloated, glacial startup. No reason an app that shows one word a day should take up over 400MB of space or take about a full minute to open. There are several full-featured Japanese dictionary apps which take a fraction of the space, yet have many more definitions and present the material in a more usable way. They also open instantaneously, unlike this app...

Arigato. I've been enjoying this app. I've learned new words and it has improved my reading. Arigato.

Sapfire girl. This app is very helpful. If you are looking for something that will teach u this is it and it's free can't get better than that

Hate new version. The push notification doesn't go away and it no longer takes you directly to the word of the day. It was way better before. Why doesn't it remember your recordings anymore? The old version did :/

Needs elaboration. The flashvatds are thorough and well organized but it would be helpful if they gave a better explanation for the ambiguous gramatical expressions. I found these helpful because I spent time In japan but a beginner wouldn't know how to use the expressions in the flash card

Love. Love it! I am learning a lot and I can always review. Love to record and ask others how it sounds.

Great app,but.... This app is perfect for people who want to learn Japanese but are always on the go. However recently the app started to get stuck in an infinite title screen loop. Could you address this issue in the next update please? Thank you.

Well Done!. This app is educational yet simple enough to navigate through and enjoy.

4 Stars. This is a pretty good app, but I wish it was more like 2 words a day instead of 1, but 1 is good also. I've always wanted to learn japenese, so this helps a lot!

Fix it. The app is not giving you a word a day, it's stuck on the one I had when I downloaded the update. Please fix.

Latest update broke the app. After installing the latest update and restarting the iPhone, the app doesn't start anymore. Please fix.

Wordpower. Very well made, concentrates on mastering specific words each day!
