Excellent Ap!. Finally! This is THE ap for bouy data. I've tried three others that were not near as easy as this one. Automatic bouy finding, scrollable distance to bouy setup. Super quick. I would have paid more for this!

NOAA Buoy Data reader. This app has locked up and died twice today and I just bought it. There other NOAA Buoy apps that have more useful data at your finger tips I would recommend. This app just links you to the NOAA website and really does not display anything I could not find with safari. Some other buoy apps actually show the buoy date they are collecting and graph that data in the app itself, not just link you to NOAA's website. I can do that myself with a favorites selection

Best surf app out there. Since the update for the iPhone 4 this app has been indispensable for checking buoy reports and tides. Searchable, updates easily, gives maps and lists of all buoy and tide spots and allows favorites without requiring a login. Worth every penny.

CaySea. Easy to use and gives you accurate up to date information when you need it. I like the icon based main screen as it is easy on old eyes. I find this to be a very valuable tool to help verify weather forecasts. Easy to find info for your area instantly.

Excellent!!!. No other app combines the features and usability found in this one. As avid boaters, my husband and I rely on it all the time.

Don't leave home without it. I use this app various times throughout the day whether I am out in the water or not. Would never think of leaving the dock without checking with this app. The new upgrades puts everything at your fingertips and is very user friendly.

Perfect easy way to check the NOAA Buoys. Easy access, especially using favorites to the buoys you use the most. Data is easy to read and understand. a must have for any fisherman!

Great app.. This is a great app. I work on tug boats and have to cross the Gulf of Alaska on a regular basis. This app makes getting the bouy reports and forcasts WAY easier then navigating NOAA's site. One thing that would be nice is a search function so you can type in a bouy's number or name, instead of having to increase the distance from your location till the bouy you want comes up. Also don't listen to the people that give this app a low score as most of them don't realize that NOAA only puts these bouy's offshore. Although you can look at weather stations that are based on land.

Link to NOAA. This app is terrific. Current conditions at the buoy plus an easy link to the National Weather Service Forecast for the area encompassing that buoy. Just tap the Wave or Cloud icon and shezaaam. The link provides the current dynamic radar map and the 5-day forecast for the Zone, including wave height, wind speed & direction. Having this info close at hand is a great aid to setting up a float plan.

Do not purchase yet. Seems be a series if problems with last update. It crashes continuously now. It could be that those of us with old operating system cannot use the App anymore unless we upgrade and I cannot upgrade my iPhone easily since I am visiting Australia. Have to wait until I return to Texas. Do not purchase until they make App compatible to all operating systems and this backwards thinking update makes me question the resolve of this App company to make good updates in the future.

Great app but definitely needs an update. I use this app almost daily and have for years. When it's working it's great. I'm using a 6s and it doesn't seem to be updated to function like it should. It's laggy. I frequently have to close it out and re-open. Hoping it's fixed soon or I'll be shopping around. Please update!!

Worked pretty well for a couple of years but its broken. The app worked well for a few years. A couple of weeks ago it began to hang on the opening screen and then just crashes back to the app icon. This app is broken on my iPhone and ipad.

Buoys Incomplete. The app is excellent. The data is not as rich as the buoy web data, but it is up to date. The app comes with some buoys preloaded on the map, I had to find my local buoy via the link provided and select it, after which it appeared as a pin on the buoy map. The support is great, they answered my inquiry within hours and solved my confusion. Great tool for figuring out if the wind is right for sailing.

nice and easy to work with. I wish they would add the moon phase to this app, it's useful to have to figure neaps and spring tides. also, it's a good app when you're in a wifi zone (ipod touch here) but not so good when you're not, it tries to update all the time, i like to pull up the info and have it available as a reference at the destination. consider for an upgrade.

Best App for the Professional Mariner. As a yacht delivery captain who delivered vessels all over the world, this app has been my go-to marine weather resource. I have bought other apps that claim to be NOAA Data Buoy but fail miserably in provide NOAA textual data. This app provides marine weather forecasts as well as current and historical data verbatim from NDBC/NOAA. Don’t waste your time or money. Take it from a professional mariner. This is the app you need.

The BEST!. Hands-down my favorite weather app for near a decade now. Excited to see it’s being actively developed again. This is by far the best weather app for any nautical area. Great but (follow up RPT). I reported yesterday that the program would not load. Turns out was a bug in my 3G iPhone. The program was A--OK all along. I go offshore fishing the Texas coast every week. I use Buoy Data before every trip. Sometimes I'll use NOAA WX on the computer, but actually, I can get everything I want and need faster right here. Combine this app with "TideGraph" and a good WX radar program -- and you're ready to roll. From a carreer airline pilot who knows the meaning of planning ahead.

Requires GPS ALWAYS. What a bust. As long as you have gps running the program works. If you have it off to do some planning, it will not work. This is not a navigation program. Once I store my favorites, I should be able to access them. Anytime!

Please update. Aloha, I really like the format of this app. But now it does not load on my iPad Pro 11” running software 15.6.1 version.

Bouy information. Simple and easy to use. Would be nice to have a map showing location of bouy, mainly when going to destinations different than your home port. Otherwise it's excellent.

Steve f Perry. Great app. It gives you the basic info you need at the touch of your fingertips without having to do alot of searching. If you need more details, you can do so easily. The added map view is awesome. Highly recommend this app.

Great app. Good app...easy to zero in on buoy near you and good information if you want tide, temp and wind I your boating area. I tried a couple of wind ones that were a total waste of money...just deleted as waste of space on phone. This one is a keeper. Only logical thing....be sure there is a NOAA buoy near you

Great before, awesome now!. Wonderful app that is exceptional with the lastest update. Great screens, easy navigation, timely info. Love the quick link to NOAA forecast data from the buoy. Indispensible for sailors and great for anyone who craves weather info. Thanks to the developers for a job very well done!

Wave Height. This app does not make use of reported wave information

Great Buoy Data Reader. Updated review for 2.1: new features are great, easier to search. The app works exactly for what I need it for. It takes my current location and lists the closest NOAA Buoy's and lets you choose which one you want a reading from. Works as well as described. Highly recommend!

Sea height. Why does the data show the sea height anymore?

Good simple solid app. I use this all the time. It's accurate and easy to use. Actually reports buoy data so there is no prediction, it's fact. I have sat next to bout 10 miles offshore and temp and swell dead on. I wish it did some swell map predictions and some SST predictions but I doesn't that I can find. Oh well, like I said it's a ample app that works great.

Best Buoys App. I am not sure why this app is getting some very low ratings. It's easy to use on my iPhone 6. I like having the list of nearest buoys so I can choose one - or view all of them on a map. You can always search for buoys that aren't near you easily if you are planning trip.

Great. Great presentation of NOAA buoys and tide charts. All info available from particular buoys is available including water temperature for some. More detailed weather than many weather apps. Easy and fast to find the info you need. Like the new lunar phase feature too.

Fixed and working!. I submitted a review saying the app keeps crashing when I try to open the app, preventing me from using the app, and I asked for the developers to fix this issue. Within days of submitting the review they released an update that solved the issue and the app works great! Thank you for the great customer service!

Very few listings. I boat on a large lake with numerous buoys and the app shows one or two on the lake. Junk

Wave height.... This program provides data available in real time that is, simply stated, available. If you spend any time on NDBC you will know that not all buoys provide identical information and many do not provide wave height or distance between. Good job Verona. Joel.

Thank you for the long term. I set the app aside for years after apple undeveloped the platform. Today Buoy Data is as good as the day it started, lol.

Should have read reviews. 2nd re-write: The developer responded the same day as my review, and provided instructions to disable automatic user location (set Auto-Retrieve to off). Having downloaded the app again and making the location changes, I am still nagged with a pop-up error, "No Location. Access to location denied! Check Settings." Another issue is that wave height info is missing from most buoys I've checked along the eastern shore. NOAA comparisons show the data (just not provided from within the app). Excellent marine weather info otherwise.

Synopsis. Suddenly the synopsis has disappeared and the app keeps freezing and shutting down when I try to scroll down.

Updated review. Functionality works very well though saving Favorites may take a couple of attempts. Having multiple buoy readinhs at a glance and drilling down for more detail makes thus app a must for cruising mariners or those wondering if they should venture 50+ miles to their boat for a day sail. Well done!

Has potential but needs work. Does a good job of summarizing buoy data from buoys near you. The link to "Show Original Article" takes you to the official NOAA buoy web site which DOES have a map of the buoys on it. Unfortunately, there's no back button anywhere - not on the station data screen nor on the linked web page screen. So you can't get from the station data back to the list of buoys nor properly browse the actual NOAA buoy web site, nor return to the data summary screen from the NOAA site, without using the "Reload" button. That's the same a starting the app again. They should add a back button. Or, at least, have an option to open the "Original Article" in the built-in web browser instead of in this crippled environment. You may find it easier to simply use Safari to access the NOAA site and add links to the buoys you use most.

Must have for boaters. If you fish or boat, current weather conditions are important. A touch or two of your phone gives you all the info you need before you go. Now even better you got radar images of the area to let you know if it's raining or not! Good work!

A very handy app. A very well thought out application and interface. It was very easy to find the weather stations and buoys close to my location and then build a list of favorites for future reference. The page for each buoy gave the major categories of wind, wave and weather information. The link to the NOAA buoy home page makes for quick reference to the graphs for wave heights trends. My favorite new application.

Dumb. This is hands down the worst app I have for tide charts. Rid of it please.

Touch also has a 4.0 update!!. I did not realize that the Touch also has a 4.0 update, not just the iPhone. I'll try it and I'm betting it will be fine again! Sorry Verona. Update: I upgraded to Touch 4.0 and it works fine!

Buoys Incomplete. The app is fine, except that it does not appear to make use of a current list of NOAA buoys. The NOAA buoy in the James River off Jamestown Island, for example, has been there for several years now, yet it is not listed in this app, and hence, no data is available. This would be a 4 star app if it had a complete list of buoys. And in any case, the authors owe it to us to provide a list and a sense of how complete it is so that users could decide if it met their needs BEFORE buying it.

Great App!. I use this app all the time. Gives real time conditions immediately with all pertinent information at a moments glance. Even useful when you're not boating and just want to see what conditions are like for the beach or even wind conditions for your golf game. A heck of alot more accurate than the tv weather report.

Wow! Great Program!. Wow! I love the version 4 update. The screens are much easier to navigate, and I really like the thumbnail view of each station. The map views are much faster and display better too. The addition of tides is a huge plus and made it so I didn't need a separate tide app. I also like that the speed of rivers are included. I have a kayak, and it's great to know when a river is running faster, so we can plan our paddle accordingly. Thanks for the update!

No good for Western Australia. No good for Western Australia, probably help if the areas covered were listed with the app description. The app is a great idea but would be even better if it supported my state/country.

Buoy readings. If you live in Sydney you only get one buoy reading not. You do not get any buoy readings inside the harbour. If you live Sydney think before you get before you get this app

Excellent; Maybe Life-Saving. This app provides ship reports of actual conditions around me in the Bahamas. When the weather is supposed to deteriorate, or when I don't trust the forecast (which is often) I use this app to find out what is really happening. When the forecaster calls for a front with winds, say, in the 20-25kt range, I get the ship reports sorted by distance to see if it is better or worse than expected. Frequently, I have seen ship reports of winds far in excess of the predictions. The map view allows me to follow the front as it approaches and to check whether a report likely represents a localized squall or a general condition on the other side of the front. This allows me to take precautions like setting another anchor, or reefing the sails, or finding sheltered harbour. The data is presented very well. I have tried to find it directly at NOAA, but with no success. It is pretty challenging to pick a few reports out of a long tabular list of NOAA data when the weather's getting bad at sea. The map function is critical. Admittedly, you do have to have Internet access on your boat to use this, but that is becoming much cheaper and more readily available. This is the only weather app that allows me to easily check actual conditions. I use it almost every day.

Great App but lacks some minor items to make it five stars!. A great application but a few more functions would make an absolutely perfect application for what I need. Application functions exactly as describe. Things That Would Make It 5 Stars for me: • The Marine Weather Forecast for the area the selected Buoy is in. • Sunset & Sunrise Times • Moon State (Full, New, Etc..)

This is a great app. Because it works consistently and provides exactly what sailors need. I sail out of Port Aransas on the TX gulf - very windy and often tough - this is a lifesaver.

Not enough INFO before purchase. What a waste of my money! You don't know until after purchase if it covers the body of water you will be in. One of the reviews mentioned Lake Huron, so I figured it would also cover Lake Lanier in GA. Nope! Only lakes covered are the Great Lakes. You should be able to get this info BEFORE purchase. I want my money back.

LA Shrimper. Very good app and it's pretty accurate when it comes to future wind speed. It's a must have with every fishermen.

Excellent. Excellent upgrade, with the addition of moon phases. With so much work and so little time to get on the water I was using a separate app to check moon phase for most efficient times to hit the ramp.

Busted!!. I want my money back!! When I pay for an app, I expect updates when needed. Mine has been down since IOS 4.0, and this is the time of the year I could use it most. Don't buy this until they update, if they ever do!!

Great ap. Very good tool for monitoring the sea conditions in my area (SE North Carolina). Easy way to get a marine forecast, and the tides listed by closest proximity to you is awesome.

Garbage for interior States.. I work for a large brewery in Colorado making malt. I needed an app that could tell me barometric pressure for my area and took a chance on this one. There's no information available for interior States, I would have been better off driving to the shore and throwing three dollars into the ocean, at least now I'll have a clue what to expect when I do! ;)

Science user also pleased. I use buoy data for oceanographic and wind studies and was pleasantly surprised at how the app works. Very nice and the link and browsing of NDBC webpages even makes it possible to consult prior days of data... Great job! Philip Orton

Problems for IPOD since update. Finally got the app to work on my IPhone. Was working fine on both IPhone and IPOD before update. Now won't work on my IPOD. I heard a fix is on the way...hope so 'cause this is a great app.

Handy. Pertinent info when I want it. It's nice to know the offshore conditions with just a tap on the screen. That's the point and it delivers. It matters to me as a fisherman as I don't carry a computer on the boat.

Great. If you are an offshore boater this is a must have app. Way better and quicker than trying to use NOAA site. It brought up bouys I didn't even know existed.

Best fishing app so far. Finally someone incorporated tide, weather prediction, radar, sunrise, sunset and moon phases in one app. I'm sure there is more buoy data such as water temp that can be added. So far I love it!

Buoy data. This is a great app, easy to use lots of info and the new version with local radar and forecasts is a wonderful addition. All the real time info a boater needs in one app!

Went from 5 star to 2. This WAS my favorite App for fishing and duck hunting, but the latest version freezes and hangs up. I still use all the time but it has become very annoying. I hope they update this app as soon as possible because it's such a great app as long as it's working correctly

I love this App!. Sea Kayakers regularly use all the info provided through this app. It is really convenient to see water temps and wave heights in addition to maps with the continental shelf showing. Please make a lake and river app showing wind conditions and currents.
