So elegant and visually appealing. What a gorgeous app- that alone makes me want to open it and track. I love that it there's a water tracker, daily fruit and vegetable and weekly seafood tracker and that they give you a life score with details on what to improve each week. Sure, a few glitches like not currently syncing with Health app (I open both then close both and open once more then it tracks), and the recipes and sometimes the database doesn't have the exact food but does have something comparable, just takes a smidgen more work. The beta camera isn't the greatest if you have a deep dish as opposed to a plate but it sure is handy and easy enough to adjust. And there's not many recipes, but the ones available are easy to follow and pleasant to eat, plus how often does one follow a recipe to a T? I've tried other tracking apps (looking at you MFP) and all the ads and monotone color scheme make them too unidimensional- this is beautiful, too beautiful not to use. And the step counter that equates steps to what you burn makes me just competitive enough with myself to make me want to walk even more (I burned 1.5 croissants?!? Bet I can burn 2!). I'd like to buy the app developers a beer. Then go walk said beer off. I saw a couple of review that say the app is rigid in terms of certain foods like sunflowers, and though I appreciate the sentiment, I am using the app for weight loss and do indeed want to know if a food is high in caloric content.

Needs improvement. I think overall it’s a good app. I can’t afford the premium features so I basically have to ignore the day ratings. You can’t customize the macro goals unless you have premium and mine are different from the ones they set for me. The one thing that really irks me is their meal rating system. It doesn’t teach indulgence in moderation, which I think is key to maintaining a healthy diet, and it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. If you eat one sweet thing it ruins your entire meal rating. For example: I had scrambled eggs and protein powder in coffee this morning — it gave both of those an excellent rating on their own, but didn’t give the meal as a whole a good rating because I hadn’t consumed enough calories. Then I had half a serving of honey vanilla Greek yogurt and it gave it a :| rating, which then ruined my whole meal rating. And you can get an explanation for why things are rated that way unless you pay for premium. I try to get good ratings all day so it really bugs me when I get a bad one. I’m starting to just not take them seriously.

It’s good but discouraging. I’ve had this app for a week now and there is good and bad. I was baited into the $2 a month program and it charged me the whole year which I didn’t know would happen and I’m not happy about that. I wanted to just see what the premium would offer, it does have nice but expensive recipe's. It’s simple to use but has issues when you log items or creating a recipe. The thing though that is most frustrating is the ratings. I have become obsessed with getting my rating high for the day with the smiley face. Today I made a smoothie which each ingredient had the highest rating, after logging it, it said my rating was just okay, slightly imbalanced. I don’t understand since the fruits I added were the highest rated! If you don’t have the exact amount of everything below your goal then it immanently says the food or meal is bad. My life score also went down too even though I’ve been eating good food. The day ratings are really all over the place and not accurate in my opinion. I’m trying so hard to loose weight and really eat better but I feel so discouraged when using this app at times, since I feel like I have no progress. Another note is that if you don’t eat a lot in the day it gives you a bad rating too. So eat but don’t eat? I don’t know, it’s an okay app for just logging calories but the smiley faces will get to you and make you not want to eat just about anything.

The only health app I’ve stuck with. I’ve tried lots of different apps to help me along my fitness journey and this is the only app I have been able and have wanted to stick with. It’s awesome when you track your food and are able to see a rating beside what you’ve had. Also, it’s very easy to track your exercise. As of recently, I have purchased an Apple Watch and it makes it even easier because it just takes the activity information from my watch and coverts it into the app. There is also a cool weight tracker you can use to count towards your weight goals. Tracking water intake is also nice and the app even gives you tips and encouraging words to reach your water, calories per meal, and exercise goals. I thought every app like this was the same and they all seemed so hard to figure out. Lifesum is short, sweet, and simple and I give the creators and developers of this app major props because usually I get bored within this category of apps, but this one has kept me focused and excited to use it. Thank you, Lifesum!

I paid for recipes with BUGS?? 🐜. I really used to like this app and I knew I might have wanted to get the premium one day; but it seems like I must’ve got it at the wrong time. So far being a premium member I’ve seen the dumbest things on this app. this app doesn’t even track the smiley faces right; I eat super good some times and I don’t even get good face ratings at the end of the day. Besides that, Im mainly paying for the recipes because I wanted to see if I would get more help with being more creative with the food I eat. But today I seen that they recommended grasshopper tacos?? And I know that a lot of people eat or are open to eating bugs; but seriously? that is the most disgusting & the most unrealistic thing I’ve ever seen. the fact that we’re paying this much money for trash recipes and gimmicky stuff like this really pisses me off and I won’t be buying the premium membership ever again. this seriously was a waste of time and if I could go back I really would. I hate that it seems like the longer that I’m on this (premium) app; the the more I regret every penny that I paid here. Really would not recommend anything but the default membership. 👎🏼 since being a premium member doesn’t really get you anything but dumba$$ smiley faces, ridiculous recipes and a “life score” rated by a test that doesn’t even make sense. DONT WASTE UR MONEY!

This app might give you an eating disorder. I downloaded this app five years ago because it’s sleek, gamifies water/veggie/fruit tracking, and I thought i could better track my nutritional intake. Last year I wanted to lose a little weight so i splurged and upgraded to the paid version—big mistake. Now i get condescending emojis judging my daily eating habits and irrational rating systems. I warn everyone, this app can easily become dangerous. One example out of 365: today I had a fresh carrot + lentil dish for breakfast, black tea, small salmon poke salad for lunch, HALF a nature well green smoothie as a snack, and hummus, quinoa, falafel dinner. I hiked with my dog for 3 hours in the AM. My rating??? “Off track” with a sad red face emoji subliminally shaming me. The reason? My meals were too low in protein, too high in carbs, and i had 1600 calories instead of their recommended 1395. Are they insane?! I thought this was the most balanced day of eating, with tons of fresh veggies and fruit, I’ve ever had in my life! And humans need more calories than that to sustain themselves especially with the amount of exercise I get. I didn’t sign up for a starvation diet, just ‘better eating’ with more whole foods. Please be careful, especially to women who are already pressured to eat less than they need to sustain a nutritionally balanced diet. ❤️

It’ll get the job done, but it could be better. Calorie tracking and dieting options work well and seem to cover a wide variety of needs. It is cumbersome to find the food and/or measurement needed for accurate tracking at times; requiring the user to do some creative math or mental gymnastics to figure out what should be entered. I paid for a membership and feel it’s okay—I won’t likely be renewing. The recipes offer some tasty and decently filling alternatives, but are HORRIBLY written, as often as not. If you’re not familiar with finagling and “figuring out” a recipe or if that type of this is frustrating, this is not the app for you. This feels most functional for a few scenarios: first, the casual user who already has a decently healthy understanding of food, quantities, cooking, etc., and is just looking for a little guidance, new ideas for recipes or to literally track calories. Second, any of the diets, I’d bet, would work if you’re a person who can follow the recipe EXACTLY (I follow “classic” and “vegan” but would struggle with both if I didn’t already have experience eating/cooking alternative foods). This WOULD NOT be for the user who doesn’t really know at least some about healthy eating (novice) nor would it be for the serious weight loss/health person (expert) as it just doesn’t support specifics well enough.

Keep Improving This App. I use a few apps for recipes already. Those apps all include nutrition values and labels. It would be nice if I could import/share those into lifesum without having to manually enter everything one at a time. A few of them have options to add those values to Apple health directly from the app. Lifesum writes data to health, but does not read. I think it would almost be better to separate functions out to apps. Have food apps handle entering / removing data into health and then have trackers reading and analyzing what you just ate so you can make informed decisions. I’d rather have two clean apps rather than one bloated app. I would imagine narrowing the scope would take out a lot of the overhead needed to maintain and update the app, thus making it even more clean and user friendly. Anyways, this is just my observation after using lots of food tracking apps. The interface may be different but functionally they are all kinda doing the same thing. I would also like to see more support for the Apple Watch when it comes to simple things like adding water and quick calories. The front end of this app is really beautifully done. If the back end was doing something unique then I could see myself paying for this app.

Beautiful and easy to use with some adaptability issues. First of all, the visual design of this app is incredible. Other similar apps have designs that make it feel outdated, which in turn can make the data or plans feel outdated even when that’s not true. Gorgeous color scheme, icons, motion design, etc, and lots of great features like the barcode scanner and ability to quickly select previous days’ meals. However, there’s a few issues with how the tracker adapts to your daily activity. The app will add to my remaining calories if I’ve been active that day, but the macros that it has set will not adapt with them. For example, it tells me to eat 120g of protein per day, but yesterday I happened to be super active and had 1000 more calories I could eat. Even though I had a huge amount of calories left, my macros didnt adjust, so I had a bright red indicator on my macros for going over even when I really should’ve eaten more. For how much I love the rest of the app I really dislike how those goals stay static. I also wish it could connect to Fitbit with a little more detail- I don’t use Apple Heath to track my steps and wish it could detect steps, type of workout (like weight training), etc from the Fitbit app. All in all, I love this app and would absolutely recommend it to everyone, just be aware that it’s okay to ignore the bright red macro counter if you’ve done a lot of activity and need to eat more that day.

Support unavailable. Loved the interface of this app and found it easy to navigate my way around pretty easily when I did use it. The one star rating is due to my recent experience today. I have tried several times now to contact support through the Contact Us (in app chat) link and it continues to crash. The app is updated to the most recent version and so is the software on my phone. Have tried to resend the message several times and the app keeps crashing. I want to cancel my subscription and plan on deleting the app TODAY. I purchased the Premium version of the app about a year ago at a discounted rate during a promo offer they had at the time. They seem to have it set it up where you subscribe to their Premium services outside of iTunes so the subscription is actually processed through their own website. Renewal dates or expiration dates of said Premium services are nowhere to be found anywhere in the app. They then attempt to auto renew it later on at almost $50 USD with no communication beforehand via email or otherwise that they will be processing this amount. I did not even locate the option to downgrade my account or cancel anywhere within the Settings option within the Lifesum app. Luckily my bank caught the attempted transactions as fraud and did not allow them through. I’ll stick to apps that allow me to manage my subscriptions within iTunes to avoid headaches like this.

I enjoy this app BUT…. I wish you could log what time you ate and the day ratings feel pretty subjective. If you could log when you ate it would help people who want to set up an eating window or are fasting in some ways or just want to space out their meals to stop impulse eating. Looking and seeing you just ate a full meal an hour ago might help people go for lighter snacks to tide them over until the next meal. Also, I feel frustrated when I had a good day and meet my macros only to hear “cut back on added sugar “. It really takes away from my accomplishments when I feel like I had a good day but I’m basically told, yeah, but did you REALLY? I had it in moderation if I wouldn’t have meet all my macros still been within my calorie intake, so stop shaming me for enjoying food I like please. There’s a lot of useful features though and recipes/diet plan (I haven’t tried them yet) I’ve used other features though like logging your weight, adding your fitness tracker data, scanning food, making and saving your own recipes and altering nutrition data that isn’t accurate or barcode that don’t exist in the system. Overall, it’s a very helpful tool with just a few almost insignificant kinks.

Not Great. I bought the premium version because I thought it would be friendlier and more helpful than apps like myfitnesspal. Its not very smart, it doesn’t have a lot of foods in its database, and the recipes provided are few and not impressive. There’s no way to find easy meals, it seems to be time consuming and not super appetizing. For example, a suggested recipe to me was a tomato and buttermilk shake?? While that might not be hard to make, it sounds disgusting. Most of these recipes seem to be more about looks and “instagram” quality than nutrition and simplicity, which is what most people loom to food trackers for. In the app’s attempt to be more millenial-geared and well-rounded, they made a complicated app with a few flashy features (choosing your type of diet, taking a picture of your food to log it-which didn’t work when I tried-, and recipes-which have limited options and seem complicated). I wish they offered a trial of the premium but I understand why they don’t because I definitely wouldn’t have bought premium if I knew that not much would change, and the additional features are less than satisfactory. I absolutely regret purchasing this.

Beautiful but needs work. I got this app after seeing several ads for it in my Facebook feed. I like that it offers many different plans and gives you instant feedback on the quality of food you are eating, but many of the features advertised do not work properly. For example, I chose the three week weight loss plan. It generated recipes and a shopping list, which I thought was cool. But it does not let you add the recipes directly to your food diary -- clicking on the recipe did not do anything and I had to enter each ingredient manually, even though I followed the recipe exactly. This seems like a waste of time and a pretty big thing to overlook. Searching the recipe database for the recipe did not work either, as they are organized by tags and not by title or ingredient, making it even harder to find what you're looking for. I had to delete and reinstall the app to even get the water tracker to show up. There is also no way to manually sync the app with Fitbit; it just kind of does it when it wants to, which I also see as a major flaw. It's a beautiful app, but very clunky and full of dead ends. I paid for premium and at this point I wish I hadn't.

Awful navigation, terrible tracker. This hets 2 stars instead of 1 because i do actually use it to track, mostly because there’s little better out there. But the rest of the app is total garbage. It is inaccurate and poorly sourced, confusing to navigate if you want to change your plan, and the nutritional meals are extremely confusing. First, it only allows you to choose one dietary choice. For example, i try and eat a low carb diet but i ALSO want to keep that diet by eating clean and whole foods. But i have to choose one or the other. I am a pescatarian, and for some reason I still get recipes that suggest chicken or other meat. Also the “nutritional tracker” is literally never happy—you could have the healthiest meal and it will say you are nutritionally off track because you didn’t hit *exactly* the nutritional intake it demands to the exact gram. If you have baked salmon, an extremely healthy food with lean protein and omega 3’s it says the meal is “too high in fat,” the same as if you had pizza. It doesn’t differentiate between good fats and bad. There’s no pleasing the nutritional tracker. It is annoying to search for recipes, and it seems like just a way for celebrity fitness influencers to make even more money when this could be an actual social app for real users to share recipes, exercises, and fitness data. What a waste.

Works foe me!. About a year ago I was told that I needed to lose weight for health reasons I set a goal of 100 lb weight loss. One of the things I did immediately was download this app. I had tried others before but wanted to give this one a go after I read about it. I needed a user friendly app that would not only track calories, but could help me look at what I was actually eating. I also wanted something that would interface with my Apple Fitness because I knew I was going to have to work out and walk more. It will be a year next month and I have managed to lose 77 lbs. I use this thing every day at every meal and it tracks my activity. This is been extremely helpful for me. It is important for me to know how many calories that I’m consuming, but it’s been very helpful to know the types of foods I’m eating. I have been able change some bad behavior patterns.. I feel certain I will continue to use this as a tool after I reach my goal weight. The premium version includes specifics diets it recommends based on your preferences, along with recipes all kinds of gems for those who enjoy meal preparation. Great app for me! Thank you to the developers:)

Outstanding!!. I love Lifesum! I am very very particular about calorie tracking, I’m a therapist and I am certified in intuitive eating, not calorie tracking, as it often leads to problematic habits. However, knowing I needed to lose weight that has had stuck around post-pandemic, cancer, and an ended engagement— I needed support tracking because calorie deficit is how to lost weight. This app doesn’t push false science, it’s inviting/inclusive/scientific without any negative implicit biases or body shaming, and it is stunning and effective. I live in NYC and quickly found I am severely under eating for the amount I move in addition to exercise. I would highly suggest this app if you’re goal is to try and become more mindful about your consumption. It’s the best out there. But remember- you’re beautiful just the way you are! Do this for you and only you if you have downloaded! And for health, not appearance. Thanks, Lifesum! Feeling renewed since using!

App is just ok.. This app is ok for tracking. However, when you go to enter the food choices several different versions of that food pop up all with caloric differences for the same food. I weigh my foods, & I see different caloric amounts for the weights of the same food. For example, Red grapefruit will have a few different choices to select from but no matter the ounces, the calories will slightly differ 30-50 cals. I don’t understand this & it can be very frustrating. & makes me feel as though my efforts are not always accurate & ultimately a wasteful purchase. The app has a nice design but could be better. Another feature that is annoying is if you want to review past food logs, & u leave the app open & go to do something else on your phone if you click back to the app it will reset to you viewing the food log of the current day. Which if you had to scroll back 8 days, you’d have to scroll back 8 days again even if you just go to do something else even though the app is open which again is annoying & there should be a better way to compare past to future logs. The app does have nice recipes thought too. Im not sure I’ll be renewing it, I might look for another food log app before my subscription is up.

Awesome, but there are some errors.. I’ve been using this app for as long as I can remember and I recently just upgraded to the Premium, which I love! I love the aesthetic of the app and the visuals and colors it uses. I love the wide variety of recipes, even thought I don’t use them that much. I love the weekly rating I get so that I can look at my past week and see what I need to improve on for the next one. However, there are a couple things I find I have trouble with. The main thing is that when I go to update my weight, I check on it the next day and it says “Nothing lost, nothing gained.” So whenever I update my weight and maybe i’ve lost a pound or two, i’ll update my weight. But the next day when I go to look at my weight it erased it or changed it back to the starting weight. It does this almost all the time and is pretty annoying because I have to delete the starting weight that it put it back on for that day, at the same time deleting the weight that I put in. Another thing that’s minor is that when I go to take a picture of my food, sometimes it doesn’t work and the picture never shows up. I do really love this app but I don’t know if anyone else has the weight changing itself issue or not.

Delete My Fitness Pal!. I don’t normally review apps but this is one EVERYONE should definitely try. This is the first app that I’ve actually lost weight with.. it actually helps you develop better eating habits. I know that there’s a lot of hype behind My Fitness Pal, but I swear, after trying both, LIFESUM BEATS MY FITNESS PAL HANDS DOWN. Nearly everything since the app has gone through updates is perfect. The user-face is simple and easy to use, without the annoying ads other apps have. You can adjust everything to fit your personal goals, even if they go beyond what the app recommends. They even include a macro calculator that makes things easy to calculate. The grading scale is really helpful to see where you can improve. It takes everything into account, calories, macros, sugar, fiber... it’s pretty comprehensive. Also, I love that I can keep everything private, it’s not necessarily a competition against all of my Facebook friends. The graphs and diagrams make seeing long term trends quick and easy. One thing I would love to see is something that suggests meals or specific items that would meet the goals of the meal. If I have 200 calories left and haven’t met my protein, fat, or carbs goals, what can I add to my meal that fits my goals? Other than that, the developers have done an absolutely stellar job.

Just What I Needed. I’ve been struggling to hold myself accountable when it comes to eating healthy and exercising ever since I gave birth to my daughter last summer, but this app makes it possible to keep track of my calories, fat, protein and sugar intake on any given day, and keep track of my workouts and it has made a difference! The first 10 days of using it, I mostly focused on eating healthy and staying under my daily intake. I lost two pounds and have since incorporated working out in the past week and have lost an additional 1.5 pounds plus 1.25” off of my waist. My pants are beginning to get a little looser and my face is noticeably thinner as well. I’ve been using this app since May 17th and I am happy with my progress so far. I gave the app four stars, however, because I’m paying $21 for three months but the add-ons don’t seem worth the money. I’m grateful for them but they are things so could have figured out with a quick google search. There are also not a whole lot of vegetarian recipes and many of them are not the healthiest.

Will Not Sync with Apple Health App. I really like this app a lot. It’s very nice looking and motivating. I have been a paid subscriber for about 4 years now but am thinking that I might not be renewing this year. I’m not sure if the problem is with the Lifesum app or the Apple Health app, but the nutrition data will just not sync properly from Lifesum to the Health app. I am using the Health app to aggregate all of my health data which syncs properly from my sleep app, glucose app, exercise apps, etc., but not my diet/nutrition app which I consider to be essential for getting a complete health picture. I contacted the developer about this issue but was just told that they were working on it and informed as to how to get a refund and cancel my subscription. That was definitely not the answer I was looking for but may just take them up on it. What I really wanted to hear was a timeframe for getting this right. What I got from the response was that it wasn’t really a priority for them. I would like to know whether it is or not because if it is and they are expecting a breakthrough in the near future I would definitely stick with the app.

Totally Inaccurate. Lifesum is beautiful and fun. But none of that matters because all the entries are inaccurate or straight up wrong. If I’m going to have the ease of using a barcode, why do I have to put in more work? If you want to be able to accurately measure and count calories, you should use grams. When I use grams on anything, the measurements are totally inaccurate. They’ll make something that should be 200 calories look like 12,000 calories. Or something that should be 600 calories will come out to 3 calories, all because of inaccurate measurements on this app. Even the “verified” entries are wrong. Sometimes I’ll Enter a meal and the calories won’t show up until I fully close the app and reopen. Today I tried to search for an item from McDonald’s, and all the entries were the meal without the biscuit. And even those entries didn’t match! I’ve tried to continue to use the app because I was conned in to paying for a full year. (NOTE: when it says $3/month it’s actually going to charge you for a whole year at one time.) Not worth it. I’ll take my losses and use an app that’s accurate and that doesn’t make me angry because everything is hard to track and everything is just plan WRONG.

Needs an update!. I have used this app for about a year. It has helped me lose 52 pounds. The app works, so it gets 5 stars for working. However, I just upgraded my phone to an iPhone 12 Pro Max. I am finding several issues when going into certain screens where the text at the bottom if the screen is “running off” the screen, and I am unable to get out of certain screens because the “X” that you press to close the screen is in the upper left hand corner and it is partially off of the screen and you are unable to push it (the iPhone 12 Pro Max screen is .2” larger, so an update is needed.). There is also an issue when you go to create your own food/drink. I tried to add cappuccino and when you are adding a new food or drink you also need to add the serving size. My choices are grams or milliliters (both metric), although my preferences are set to imperial. It’s a minor issue, but they seem to be popping up in multiple places. This app has been great, however when I am paying for the premium subscription ($49 year) and my wife is as well, we expect the app to be up to date.

Meal plans impractical. Just downloaded this today and got a premium subscription for 3 mos. Haven’t been able to do much but most of the features seem nice! I like that it tells you how good certain foods or meals are for you and tracks how “on track” you are. It puts it a step ahead of most other trackers I’ve seen. A feature I was really excited for with the subscription but disappointed by is the meal plan. It seems to be a new feature so I don’t want to give up on it yet, but there are almost no customization options, as far as I can tell, of how many unique meals you want per week, changing measuring units (what does a “standard serving” of blueberries or chicken constitute as?), or how many servings you want of each meal. Right now it just offers you 4 unique meals every day and expects you to wrap your head around purchasing ingredients, prepping, cooking and storing 28 unique meals every single week. I like to keep things simple. I eat 1 kind of lunch and alternate between 2 different dinners all week. I also skip breakfast, which would be a nice thing to have as an option for meal planning. My boyfriend and I live together and like to cook and eat together. His calorie need is greater than mine, so being able to add 2 extra servings of a dinner to a grocery list would take a lot of the headache out of figuring out what we need to get. For now, I think I’ll stick with adapting recipes from other plans and coming up with my own meal plans.

Like but want to love it. I’ve used this app on and off for a few years now. The latest update has a lovely aesthetic and I do feel it has helped me understand nutrition better and how much I need to eat to stay heathy and energized. There are a few things that I really wish were different. 1. The most frustrating part of this app is when I eat a recipe that is listed under my chosen “diet plan” and I get a feedback that this wasn't the best choose or I should “eat more”. 2. Not listing the ingredients of verified meals. It would be great if you could simply modify these meals to make entering meals more easy. It’s quite a pain to enter info if you don’t eat a Lifesum recipe. For example, tonight I ate a shrimp salad that I made up from ingredients I just had in my fridge. There was a verified “shrimp salad” in Lifesum database but no info as to what exactly is in this salad. How great if I could see ingredients and add/remove ingredients from this salad. I would also love to see meal/food suggestions if I’m behind on my daily goal. Like suggesting just adding a banana to my breakfast would get me back on track. 3. I wish serving size of recipes could be changed. 4 servings is great for shopping but if you’re preparing a meal just for yourself it’s just an annoying extra step to figure out portions. Would love if user could determine the serving size they wanted. I do like this app and I never write reviews but want to love this app so much that I felt a need to write one.

Pretty, but all the features require premium upgrade. So far I like the layout and the user friendly nature of this app. It’s easy to use and it has a nice aesthetic. The versatility of this app separates it from other fitness apps. However I wish it was more clear on which features come with the free version and which features are premium. I understand that the developer is trying to encourage people to upgrade (the price seems reasonable) but I’ve realized that almost all of the features listed in the description are premium features. I wish I had been told upfront what I can do in the free version rather than having a popup telling me I’ve encountered a premium feature as I’m touring the app. As many of the highlights of the app are premium features (barcode scanning, almost all the diet plans, the custom recipes, etc) the app does nothing beyond track calories in its free version and I have no way of knowing if the extra features are worth the money (and reading some of the reviews convince me that the extra features don’t run as well as I would like for a paid service). I’ll stick to my fitness pal.

I’m FINALLY making progress with my weight loss. I really like this app, it might sound silly but I think part of why it really works for me is how good the app looks, and it’s much simpler (in my opinion) than my fitness pal. I’ve read that the database isn’t as big as MFP but I haven’t run into any problems with being able to track my food or scan barcodes. When I first started using the app I lost 8 pounds in the first few weeks, so I’m finally under 160lbs! I haven’t been very consistent recently but I’ve just picked it back up again tracking calories and staying under my daily goal. I also love how simple it is to track macros. Overall, I’ve been wanting to lose weight for YEARS and stop gaining 10lbs/year on average and this is the FIRST tool I’ve found that has actually helped me make progress. Only negative I have is the meals on the different plans can’t be changed so I can’t really do them because I’m allergic to shellfish (I could probably just substitute though LOL)

Easy to use but not enough info. Fun and easy to use with a lot of foods in their database. Sadly it really does not provide enough nutritional information and goes against a lot of info I’ve gotten from Nutritionists. Also it is saying that I need fewer carbs and more protein but then doesn’t actually provide protein heavy/low carb recipes when I search for them. The “meal plan” doesn’t actually give you a plan just slightly tweaks the macros based on your “test”. It isn’t actually suggesting foods at all. It doesn’t show anything about vitamins and minerals. It treats all carbs equally regardless of where they are coming from. Every nutritionist I’ve ever spoken with has also said that most veggies are practically unlimited. Today I ate almost entirely vegetables, lean protein and some watermelon and according to the app I had an unhealthy day because of my carb intake. I also think the meals are way too calorie heavy. Every nutritionist I’ve ever spoken with has said that there should be at least two snacks per day, more if you work out a lot. This app just adds calories to meals instead of offering additional snacks. I believe it helps people lose weight and definitely makes you more aware of what you are putting in your body, but this app does not guide you to a healthy and well balanced diet.

Good - Needs To Be More Regulated. The interface of this app is great, there is little I would change about its functionality. I’ve been using it since late December and recently switched to premium a couple weeks ago. While I don’t regret going premium because of all the additional features, this app is far from perfect. My main complaint is that the entries could stand to be more consistently regulated across the board. Often times I’ll see multiple entries for the same product, all different from one another, yet still all somehow verified by Lifesum with the blue tick. Sometimes the difference in nutrition info between these listings has to do with how the person entered in the serving size, but other times all the nutritional information is out of whack on two or more listings of what is allegedly the same product. This kind of negates the convenience of being able to just quickly search up a food and add it to your diary. I end up adding most of my food manually in order to be sure my entry is accurate. Even when I scan barcodes, I double check the entered nutritional info with the info on the label. All in all, unless this changes and the info on the app becomes more reliable, I’ll probably try another similar app when my membership is up, maybe MyFitnessPal.

LOVE!!!. I found out I have LDL that is too high so I decided to fine tune my diet and felt I needed an app to help me track everything. After doing a little research I decided to try Lifesum. After using it for a few days I purchased the pro version because I wanted to see more details about my nutrition and feel it was worth it. At first, I did not like how it has different faces that rate your food choices (smily face, frowning face, elated face etc. ) . I then realized that is because I did not like it when the face was not the super happy one (as in getting a neutral face after eating a processed salty snack for example) lol! As a result, having something as basic and simple as the faces that immediately tell you about the nutrition of what you are taking in, I find myself motivated to just have the green face with a huge smile on it! It is a very easy to navigate app, and I like that you can also scan a barcode from the packaging of food items. Lifesum is an excellent guide if you are ready to be honest with yourself about your nutrition and make improvements in your health.

Won’t let you choose water bottle size. Update 2: Finally responded to my actual review. But they still are not going to implement the simple feature. I’m extremely disappointed that they are not prioritizing customer concerns. Update: Developer responded with a canned response and told me to add my feedback to their UserVoice which I mentioned in my original review that they don’t care about. I still stand by my review that they aren’t listening. This app is great except for fact that you can’t have a custom bottle size for water tracking! You can only choose between a 9oz bottle and a 17oz bottle. I have many bottles that do not conform to those sizes and it makes water tracking in LifeSum impossible. To make matters worse, this was requested on their feedback site 3 years ago, has received almost 1000 votes, and they haven’t even responded to it, let alone implement it. I actually really want to buy the premium version of this app but I can’t give money to a company that won’t listen to their customers. Especially when literally every other water tracking app supports custom bottle sizes. I will be returning to this review to give it 1 stars after every update until this is resolved. You’ve had 3 years, and this isn’t hard to implement - I’m a software engineer - I know how this stuff works. Please fix this.

Beautiful! But could use customized notifications.. This app is gorgeous! I love the articles and the recipes look absolutely scrumptious. The aesthetics alone are what make this the most effective app, and it is super smooth! Even on this old phone, where everything else crashes. Huge thanks to the devs for achieving this. Now, I turned on notifications expecting reminders to update my water or add my meals and exercise, which would be really nice! Sometimes you get busy and don't track anything; it is the LAST thing on your mind. I did, however, get constant reminders to update my weight. As someone who has a Lifesum of 119 (almost completely perfect! 😲), I find that a little unhealthy. No-one should be weighing themselves every day, especially if you already have an unhealthy relationship with your weight, body fat percentage, or food. Even on a practical level, it doesn't make much sense. So I turned off the notifications, but it would be nice to be able to select what kind of notifications we get in the future! Such as for new recipes or articles, and reminders in other areas of body and health maintenance. Or a way to change the frequency: Weighing yourself every X amount of days. If there is already a way to do this, I hope the settings for it become easier to find. ❤️ Thanks for reading!

False Advertising & Poor Diet Poor Diet Entry Choices. Images displayed on Apple Apps fail to reflect the reality of the images and options offered in the app after purchasing premium version in all sections. For example I purchased the premium version yet was NEVER offered choices between diet plans as the first image on advertised app provided. I was never offered Keri, sugar free or other types of diet options as advertised. I was only offered choices of goals for weight Loss, weight gain or maintained weight. Hence, this is false advertising of the premium app I bought. Also, the food entry choices are unrealistic and useless in the premium app. For example, if trying to enter chicken broth, a taco, anything, one may not adjust the quality, size, amount ever. Hence the diet tracking is false and their is no option for example to enter 8 ounces more of chicken broth or a second taco. And most of the items are by brand name. Hence, the food info entered is rarely accurate given one cannot adjust the quality or size. Sad given the app is advertised doing things it actually does not offer. The high rating must be from employees family and friends. I feel like the 6 month membership with theft and I. Violation of CA law prohibiting false representations from businesses, also a misdemeanor offense u see CA law.

Many errors in the food database. This has a beautiful Interface, super easy to use. However I really have many issues with their nutritional content, so if you’re needing this for something like diabetes where you’re doing insulin to carb ratio’s, or specific dietary needs gastroparesis, reduced fat things, I don’t think I would recommend it. There are many times where I will scan an item in and what presents on the screen is not what is on the label it’s really strange. There are other things were a number of carbs the serving size whatever or just incorrect. Not just of labeled items but regular things like banana whatever. Anyway it doesn’t work all that well when you don’t have exactly the serving size and even then a lot of the time it’s just not right. If you don’t need that level of detail it’s very easy to use and adds everything up for the day for the meal. They only offer one snack per day so if you have three small meals three small snacks, you just have to lump all your snacks into one snack. So if you’re looking at your finger across the day it’s a little in accurate. If it were only that I would recommend it, but there are too many other issues for me

Perfect tracking app. I read others reviews of how beautiful this app is, everything I read was true. It is so easy to use and has so many features to customize to you need: meal plans, pre-calculated macros, recipes. I love that it counts down how many macros you have left and it offers several barand percentage graphs to track your progress . It also compares your daily intake to your stated goal intake. I used Lose It before and it was fine, but this one is way easier and faster and even after 3 days I’m already making better choices because I enjoy tracking and I want to get that smilie face that days Balanced lol it sounds a bit strange I know but it’s just another tool to encourage you to stick to your goals. I could not love this app any more . The developers obviously put a lot of thought into this and it’s just a delight to use. I have a family so I don’t have time to mess around with complicated tracking apps and this one makes it possible for me to stick to my goals while loving a real life. It is sustainable and I look very forward to the results I get because someone created this incredible app. Thank you so so much developers. It’s already hard enough to work, have a family, and then try to eat healthy and workout? It’s a lot and you make it possible. Thank you

Very Good, But Could Be Better. I’ve been using this app for a few weeks now, and have to say, the features this app sets out to do, it does very well. The recipes are great, being able to track your meals/diet/and even overall health is very impressive. The only place I would suggest change is, like many have said, the notifications. Unlike most of the other “suggestive criticisms,” though, my chief complaint/wish is that there are never any “night shift mode” capabilities in health tracking. Many of us in healthcare like me and hundreds of other careers have had to switch their lives nocturnal. 24-hour gyms and grocery stores have helped, but there is still so much room for improvement! If there were just a way to tell the apps to switch from breakfast/lunch/dinner at 8-ish, 12-ish, and 6-ish to those equivalents during the night! Or for activity and sleep to be better tracked at the opposite “normal” time! Granted this isn’t something Lifesum offers at all, but this is such a missed opportunity from health apps!

Interface Design and Glitches Hamper Experience. I love this app and it’s helped me get into the habit of tracking my meals, but every once in a while a poor design choice or glitch really hampers the experience. For instance: creating a food, meal, or recipe pulls up a menu from the bottom of the screen that can be closed by swiping down at any point in the multi-menu process, which erases all work in creating the food/meal/recipe. I’ve had the re-do data entry for items multiple times due to my instinct to swipe down to get rid of the keyboard, which could be easily solved by a simple “are you sure you want to delete your progress?” dialogue. A glitch I encounter often is the date of a meal I’m entering items into switching to the current date. Know what you’re having for dinner tomorrow, or want to back-log items you didn’t have time for yesterday? You may suddenly, unknowingly be entering items into today’s log. Paired with the inability to move items between dates and meals (which would be an excellent feature), this can be a real pain and result in a lot of re-doing.

Beautiful App and Great Plans with room to grow. This app is absolutely beautiful. If a smooth flow and easy navigation is important to you this might be a great place to start in your search for the perfect dieting app. In addition to the look and feel it also has some great content. My wife and I both tried the Paleo Diet for the first time in our lives. We loved the diet and everything it had to offer. We also both experienced incredible results in both energy and weight loss. The opportunity we found is after finishing the 21 day plan we would like to take a rest from a specific lifestyle diet and would like to just eat clean. We were excited to jump into classic dieting while browsing the easy to make recipes shared in the app. Unfortunately as of right now there is no way to create a grocery list and plan meals for your days unless you are in a specific diet from what we are seeing. This is a huge miss especially when we both paid for the premium service. Additionally we’d love to be able to link our accounts so we can be in sync between our grocery list, and what meals we have planned out for the day. All in all it’s a good app with room for improvement to become a great app.

Changed my life. This app is so great! I have lost 10 pounds with it so far and I’ve only been using it for a little over a month! I don’t have the premium plan so you can lose weight on it without having to pay for it which is amazing! I will continue to use this app until I reach my goal weight and I truly believe I can do that using This app. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to lose weight while still feeling in control with the classic weight loss plan. Update 8/8/19: I’ve officially gotten to my goal of losing 40 pounds!!! This app is truly amazing, from being aesthetically pleasing to actually working this is an all around great way to track your meals and exercise. I have tried many other methods of weight loss and none of them worked for me, until I found lifesum. This app can change your life in the best way possible, if you let it. You have to be consistent and work hard but you can get there, and I truly believe anyone can effectively lose weight with this app.

Thank you Lifesum for saving my life. This is going to contain a TW. But i’ve been using lifesum for about 1 week and i couldn’t be happier. I struggle with a severe eating disorder (bulimia). I typically purge but I started abusing laxatives and I’ve been starving myself (or I would do intense workouts and eat less than 600 calories). I’d do all of that and then end up gaining weight back + more. It seriously messed with my GI tract and it was getting so severe that my doctors had to talk to me about going into inpatient treatment therapy. I don’t know what about this app is making me feel better about myself. I’ve been eating my daily calories (well, I try but sometimes I eat under) and I feel much better about myself. I think it’s also cause the app looks aesthetically appealing as well. I have the premium version of the app and it’s a 10/10. I don’t even need to eat healthy because i’m still in a calorie deficit and i’m seeing results. thank you

Disappointed in Premium. I’m mostly feeling let down by this app. I used the free version for about two weeks before deciding that I wanted to use the premium version to gain more insight about eating healthy. Two more weeks of using the premium version and not only is the app not tracking the food I enter in correctly (I had tacos and entered in precise measurements of each ingredient and the app totaled it up to almost three times as many calories) but the promised insights are things like “eat more vegetables.” It consistently gives me incorrect totals of calories (sometimes by thousands!) and customizing options are extremely limited. I can’t even customize my amount of water intake, which I feel is a pretty minor feature to include. I drink from a 25oz cup during the day, but my options are 8oz or 16oz, nothing else. The app tells me I consume too much sodium and not enough fat, but gives me no clue how to include more healthy fats in my diet. I feel like I spent $50 for literally nothing. And I did submit a complaint about not being able to track a meal due to the miscalculation of calories about 15 hours ago and I haven’t heard anything. Normally I wouldn’t write a review like this, but the paid version of this app is just not nearly worth it.

New user- Edited. I just started using this app, trying to really kick off my dieting. I like organization when I diet and i just wish you could more closely edit your planner from day to day. How it is set up now- you have to scroll through all of the days and once you finish one day you have to scroll alllllll the way back down to the next day. Also, not sure if it’s just a diet they are trying to promote, but no matter what answers I choose when taking the quiz I always get the Keto Burn. I don’t necessarily have a problem with this diet, I just would like to see what other diets I could choose from that would also be recommended. If I am just overlooking how to do this please let me know! Other than these two things I am very impressed with the app and how affordable it is! I have decided to edit my review because after using the app for a couple weeks now I am no longer able to edit my “planner” or my “shopping cart” which is really disappointing because those were the biggest reasons for choosing this dieting app compared to others. I am a working student so I need the organization but I guess with the most recent update they decided to get rid of those features that I loved so much. I am going to cancel my subscription and attempt to get a refund. Back to traditional dieting I go. :(

Great for tracking calories. Overall discouraging.. I read so many reviews to find an app to help me keep track of my food intake when I restarted the 5-2 Intermittent Fasting plan. This app does that, but overall is really discouraging and unrealistic. In 7 days of tracking, I have not had ONE meal that was not labeled “imbalanced” on this app. I’m either too high on protein or too high I’m carbs or too high on sugar (ANY meal that includes fruit) and frankly I am already sick of all their frown face icons and impossible standards. Today is my 500 calorie day — just finished dinner of a piece of broiled tilapia and a cup of broccoli with a tiny bit of garlic sauce. Too high in protein and not enough carbs! For goodness sake, I’m limited to 500 calories! Almost all of my breakfasts have “not enough protein”, yet I looked through all their breakfast recipes and NONE of the low calorie recipes have the amount of protein they recommend. Last week on my fast day it said I was too low in protein so I ate a hard boiled egg as my snack — and it said it was too much fat. There are no suggestions about alternatives that would be a better choice. I fear this app has the propensity to lead to disordered eating and obsessing. Very disappointed and I regret buying a six month membership that is not refundable.

Fun Macro Tracker. I really love the design of this app and that you can follow plans that will adjust your macros for you. I also like like that you can capture a photo of your food for each meal, however, unfortunately, this functionality doesn’t work most of the time. Once I take a picture it doesn’t show in the app right a way, most of the time I have to take the pic a couple of times, close the app, reopen it and then the pic may or may not show up. So it would be nice if that could get fixed. Also, there isn’t an easy way to copy a meal from another day to a different meal. So if I ate something for breakfast yesterday, there’s no easy way to copy that to lunch the next day. And when searching for foods, your recents don’t come up. For example, if I wanted to add a food and it’s not showing in my most recent but I’ve logged it before, it would be nice to have it so up in my search when I go to search the food in the search bar. Another thing this app is missing is the ability to see what foods were highest in each macro. So if I wanted to see what foods I ate that day where highest in fat or protein.. Other macro apps have this, which was nice because then you could see what foods may be bumping up a macro too much or vice versa. Overall I have enjoyed this app and really like the design. However there are a few functionalities that are missing.

My perfect health app!. So far I have been using this app for about two weeks, and it’s actually very impressive. I am coming from Samsung Health, which has helped me a lot over the past year and a half. However, after comparing the two, this app has so much more versatility and it’s very acute regardless of which diet you choose. I decided that I was going to go with the diet plan Clean Eating, and in doing so realized how off course my diet was. More specifically, my sugar addiction problem. I have been working on improving my cooking and reducing my sugar consumption so that I can live a much healthier life. With everything that is offered, I definitely believe that this app is worth paying for. The area I feel needs improving is relatively insignificant, but when you try to tap the back button the space that you’re supposed to tap is actually slightly beneath where it shows on the UI. I would like to see that fixed, but aside from that everything is awesome! I still haven’t explored the whole thing yet, but for what I have it works very well for me.

Fix your app!. I love this app. However, I am not sure what is going on with it right now. The calories & names are all messed up & it’s very discouraging to see that a cup of Oat blenders w/ Honey cereal are supposedly ‘956 calories’, and that a Danamal is 10+ calories than it actually is. I shouldn’t have to find the exact calorie amount by doing math. The entire point of your app is as an easy way to track your diet, weight, progress, etc. What’s the point if you can’t even properly add up the total calorie intake?? Fix your app. edit: (I have been reporting incorrect calories & names, and the app is incorrectly adding up my calories per meal. I set my intake to 1,400 but it says I can eat: 747 calories for snack, 546 calories for my dinner, 560 for my lunch, and 402 calories for my breakfast. This makes absolutely no sense. The calories add would add up to 2,255 if I ate up to all of the ‘recommended’ amounts while I actually ate 893/1,400 for that day. It doesn’t make sense. The calories I actually ate shows the correct amount (893), while the individual meals add up to an amount higher than my average intake????)

Love the app as is but would also love upgrades. I started using Lifesum to track my intake. It is easy to use and very visual. However, there are a couple of upgrades I would like seeing. First, I would like to see Fat broken down into Total, Sat, Monounsaturated, and Polyunsaturated. I would also like to see Carbs broken down into Total, Fiber, Sugar Alcohols, Added Sugar, and Net Carbs. (Currently, the app simply subtracts fiber from total carbs to calculate net carbs.). Also, since I work with a functional medicine professional who is interested in seeing my intake, I would like to see the ability to export data. As I used to program (albeit mainframe), I know how long upgrades take to implement; it is possible some of these are already in the works. They were meant only as suggestions. Long story short, I am very happy with the app as it is even if it misses some of my personal desires. Thank you for the work you put in to bring such a useful app to market. Oh, last but not least, I think it would be better to let users know that full, continued use of the app requires a subscription. The cost is nominal for the usefulness, but it was frustrating when I first found out about the cost after downloading the app.

Beautifully Designed But Needs More. I’ve search the App Store for so many calorie counting and exercise tracking apps and Lifesum has made the biggest impact for me. The app design is visually appealing and really fun to use, which is important because calorie counting is not fun. This app makes it easy to ensure that you are meeting your goals. But I wish there were a few more features Lifesum had that other apps already include. These would include setting your own calorie/macro nutrient goals instead of having to choose a specific meal plan that might not be exactly what you need. The other feature would be to add exercises to the Exercise List, similarly to My Fitness Pal. There is not even an option to select Weight Lifting as an exercise. All you would need to do is add the weight you’re lifting and exercise type and BOOM it would calculate how many calories you burned. Those two features would easily make Lifesum surpass any other competition! Once those features are added I will gladly change my rating to 5 stars!

Almost useless free. This app doesn’t allow you to set your own macros or calorie target unless you pay, which almost completely undermines the point of having a food diary. I lost 80lbs with it and have used it for three years, and up until some time last year the calorie goal wasn’t locked behind a paywall. The calorie goals it sets for you are straight and simple lies. It’ll tell you to eat a 400cal deficit to lose 1.5lbs a week, when it’s not scientifically possible to do so with a deficit of less than 750cal. The only reason they’d put a paywall on your calorie target or lie to you, telling you to eat more is to make you lose weight slower. It’s an underhanded way to eek more money out of you and force you to pay their subscription. I’m very grateful to this app for allowing me to hit my goals, but that just makes me all the more sad to see others unable to do the same. I would’ve given it 4 stars in 2020 when more of its features were available for free and it didn’t lie to you, but now it’s useless. A diary you can’t write what you need to in would be just as handy if it didn’t exist.

Great app that’s sure to get even better. Ive been using Lifesum for a couple months now. Honestly I don’t use it everyday (I don’t track on weekends) but I love it! I love the look of it and the fun and encouraging tone. Love being able to see my macros front and center and seeing how my meal is looking on carbs, fat and protein. Two edits: as a previous review stated, notifications could use some work. Don’t need to weigh myself every single day, and also don’t need notifications for things I’ve already done (like log breakfast, etc.). Also get a note at 6 asking how my dinner was and I don’t eat til about 7:30 bc of my commute (this notification reminds me how much I hate it!! lol). Also, I’m a vegetarian, so I got the app to track my protein intake. So wish there were more usable vegetarian recipes (creamy avocado pasta might be delicious but... where the protein yo?), and that vegetarian was just straight up just one of the diet plans. For the record, I use the Simple Dieting setting and have not lost any weight (maybe it’s that not tracking on weekends thing... 🤔). Anyway, overall I am super happy with Lifesum and love the app 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼

Be cautious. This app started my eating disorder because I was only 13 and didn’t know the damage restricting and counting calories could cause. The age restriction should be higher, and there should be educational resources on food disorders, or a disclaimer, or just something for people who don’t realise they could be vulnerable to the damages of calorie counting. Just be wary that in the wrong hands, like a 13 year old girl going through body imagine issues, this sort of thing can promote anxiety around food, eating disorders, and so much more for years to come. I’m now 17 and still struggle with the effects of this, and I think that just putting something in place to add caution for people on this app could be helpful in preventing this sort of thing, and promote it as a tool, and not something to obsess over! - promote that not reaching a calorie goal each day doesn’t mean you have to eat less the next day or something. I also found how atrocious it is that you could set a goal to only consume 1200 calories a day. That is the amount of calories an average toddler eats. And the fact that I didn’t know that until years later, and that I had been trying to starve myself for years because I thought that thats what you have to do to lose weight - because this app told me so - is terrible. I haven’t been on this app for 2-3 years, so I’m not sure if anything has changed. I’m hoping that it has, or will.

Confused. So I’m confused, first off, the units of measurements are either inconsistent or straight up wrong between Kilocalories and Kilojoules, sometimes it does make the correct difference for example when you input the calories you burned when creating custom exercise, which I need to do because my method is more unorthodox, but when I input my intake for a specific meal, it says ‘number kcal’ and then when you go out ‘same number kj’ which is really confusing, it also says i’m ‘on track’ when i’ve eaten far more than i’ve burned which is really confusing (my goal is to lose weight). I just need answers, that’s all. Second of all, I eat wholemeal, half a banana for breakfast, then a veggie burger with nothing else but once again wholemeal for lunch and some light chicken for dinner, and you’re telling me that a nearly 2 hour long workout that burned nearly 900 kcal doesn’t even burn that, either this is harder than I thought or this just doesn’t make sense, if it helps I’m 12, 5’2 and weigh 43kg.

Great App but glitchy. The interface, database and overall presentation of the app is fantastic however there are some overall glitches in the app that make it difficult to commit to using. The app provides you with the options of Being Healthier, Losing Weight or Gaining Weight however it only allows you to switch or change between Losing Weight or Being Healthier. Attempting to choose the Gaining Weight option results in it automatically defaulting to the Being Healthier option thus providing you with incorrect calorie and nutritional guidelines.

Mindful tracking would be great. I use this app to track nutrition and make sure my nutritional intake is balanced. I encourage you guys to make the calorie counter optional, perhaps with a general scale without numbers as an option and also an option to turn it off. If we can accommodate for those who would like to simply mindful and intuitively eat and have no weight problems (or struggle with disordered eating) we can all benefit. I hate that every ‘nutrition’ based app or program is always pushing weight loss - let’s push healthy bodies and minds, rather than perpetuating fat phobias and the construct of “healthy weight”.

Great to keep on track. This is a great app! Everything you need to keep motivated and on track- several different types of diets to choose from, kilojoule counter, massive exercise list so that you can track what you burn and recipes! As you add it makes adjustments to show where your intake is focused and lets you know if you’re off track. You can scan barcodes to add your food and then keep a favourite list to use. There is also a short quiz to check your health score before you begin and to add in your stats. I’m very happy with it and for the price it’s about the best motivator I’ve found. I think this will help me change my eating patterns for the better. I’ve lost 1 kg in 2 weeks so that is pretty good for me as I’m more accountable and being able to see the information about protein, carb and fat intake helps me plan my food better.

Shopping list is useless. I really love this app except the shopping list function is not good. You can add all items needed from meals in a diet plan but rather than list the overall quantity for the ingredient, it lists all the instances it is required and quantity. For example - if 3 recipes call for 1 cup of flour each, the flour needed should say “3 cups” but it will instead say “1 cup of flour” then further down the list it will say “1 cup of flour” - it’s not even alphabetical! It’s so difficult to shop with and I am very disappointed I could not trial the subscription service and had to pay upfront just to find out the function I wanted does not work. I have cancelled my sub and hope the shopping list feature is fixed because otherwise there’s no difference between free and paid.

Don’t even bother. I never write reviews, but this app has annoyed me enough to write one. I used this app RELIGIOUSLY back in 2017 and loved it. It’s terrible now. I’m paying for an app that takes 10+ seconds to load once opened (which is irritating when most users need to use the app many times in a day), and even once we’ve made it past the Home Screen we must wait another minute or two for the meals to load so you can view/edit. If you try and quick add the meal from the previous day, it’ll only now add one ingredient rather than the whole meal. It also randomly deletes things? And also the daily ratings don’t even make sense. This app is terrible now, I’m only using it up until my paid time has expired but I’m hating every minute of it. Please whoever is reading this, DO NOT BOTHER WITH THIS APP. Not like it used to be :(

Great app for diet mindfulness. I love this app and find it so user friendly and aesthetic that it makes you constantly want to keep using it (I tend to get bored of them). It’s the first app I have paid for a subscription for a don’t regret it at all. A couple of things I would love to see in future updates; - the ability to import and merge recipes from other online platforms (such as pinterest) as I’m sure everyone has their staple recipes and see something they want to try every now and again but don’t want to add each ingredient one by one - the ability to build your OWN meal plan for the day. This way if you know what ingredients you have you can scroll through the suggested meals and preplan for yourself. It’s a bit unorganised/disheartening when you don’t have the stuff for what’s recommended in your daily meal plan - suggestions of foods for balance based on what you’ve input for the day already But I really love this app and will continue to use it religiously

Great, but some bugs. Brilliant application, amazing UI. The good. It’s got a great food database that contains a huge amount of data for the Australian market. It’s intuitive and easy to use. Logging food is quick and easy. The UI is simple and clean to look at and get key information such as macro split. The bad. Current version 18.0.0 is buggy. Food removal/deletion often hangs and sometimes gets to a point where food cannot be removed. ‘Same as yesterday’ doesn’t work, this morning the feature added my meal from two days prior, not yesterday. Sometimes the feature doesn’t copy any food into the current day. Managing custom food and recipes is not easy and not as feature rich as others.

I really like it!. I really enjoy using this app. It makes me feel like I’m doing okay and decent with my eating. The only thing about the app I wish I could change was the smiley face day rating. I know I have to pay for a subscription to have access to the face. But tbh I wouldn’t use the rest of what premium offers. Just wish I could have the overall day rating to know I’m doing something write and learning what a good day is on my own. Other then that, great app😊🌸

Life is one big subscription.. A pretty solid app so far, great design and has some great features. But why are companies always striving for apps that require a subscription? Why not sell the app, then sell add ons to offer additional features? Sorry for taking this out on this app, but we need to stop with this subscription model BS. I’d happily pay $30 plus dollars to own this app outright, then the option to buy diet plans for $5 each would be fair for all I would have thought. Hey, you could even offer a subscription tier for custom coaching or something like that for those who find value in that, but it’s just not right to pay $X per month for the rest of your life. Great app with potential to be better if you’re willing to pay. If you don’t mind paying money for an app for eternity, then you’ll love this app. To the developers, I’m sorry, and I understand you need to feed your family, but how about you do it in a more transparent way.

Good but some updates would make it better. The interface & information it provides, including the vast amount of foods you can scan is good. I’ve only used the app for a week but here are suggested updates to make it better: - the shopping cart to create your groceries list is available from meal plans but not for recipes from diets. It would be useful to have it in both. - when you add a recipe to your diary it would be good to be able to delete some ingredients e.g. had a bulletproof coffee without the cream, so add the bulletproof coffee ingredients & be able to remove the cream. - ability to add a recipe to a custom meal plan. - in Recipes, have the ability to see/filter your favorite recipes. Similar to how the favorite recipes come up in the Diary when logging food.

Needs to expand to overall nutrition and improve app. I was surprised to find after I signed up that the daily nutritional information is very basic. It doesn’t provide any indication about whether you’ve consumed the correct amount of fibre, sodium, fat type or sugar, which would be so easy to add. It only focuses on energy, carbs, protein and fat. I’m also surprised that the food database is very cumbersome. Barcodes attached to wrong items with wrong volumes and nutritional information. I can’t find how to add a food in the iPhone app. Actually I can’t find how to add a missing food at all unless it has a barcode. When you add a food yourself on iPad it doesn’t appear, but instead you have to search again to see it has been added. The only thing this app has going for it over its competition is the adjustment of meal plan (focussing on the 4 key elements), as well as the recipes (which I’m less interested in). It’s also a bit buggy, with elements on iPad disappearing off the screen and camera orientation not changing properly. I hope it improves because it’s a good premise, but lacking maturity. I’m just starting out with this app.

Great Food Diary. Being new to KETO this app has been fantastic to help me keep track of what I’m eating and water intake, what’s high and low in what, and gives me little tips here and there. There’s different plans/goals depending on what you want to achieve or diet you want to try and you can switch between as you like. You also have a library of recipes that you can try depending on your selected plan. On the negative side: wish it worked with my Fitbit. Otherwise it’s a great app if you stick with it.

Great app, just needs more data. This is a great app that gets used multiple times a day to track my food intake. I love the layout and functionality - the only thing that needs work is the nutritional information database, as it’s a bit inaccurate sometimes - though adding in the details is very easy. Also having more plan options would be great ie salt reduced, sugar reduced etc. Other than these small issues, it’s definitely a great app and worth the paid subscription as it helps me measure my healthiness.

Fun to use!. I actually enjoy using this app! It's simple and intuitive, and the cute graphics go a long way. Seriously - it's cheery to look at, and that makes me want to use it! The nutritional recommendations are really working for me; and the day rating, and breakdown, really helps me to learn what I can do better It would be nice if I could create and save new foods (currently, you look up foods and pick the closest one. You can edit nutritional values to bring it more into line if your food isn't listed), but THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL THE AUSSIE BRANDS!!! Even my extensive collection of T2 tea is listed!

Well designed app, but missing some obvious features. It’s a great looking app, with a much more accurate database of foods than MyFitnessPal (for now) but is missing some obvious features that have been requested for years on their UserVoice website: 1. Customise number of meals per day; 2. Customise macro targets per meal (small breakfast, larger post-workout lunch/dinner, etc); 3. Customisable macro goals per day (reduced ok rest days, higher ok workout days). It’s the best app available at the moment, but there’s definitely areas for improvement, especially when these sort of features aren’t that difficult to implement.

Could be better. The app has a great beautifully design and fun calories tracker. However, beyond that it has nothing that really want to convinced me enough to covert into its paying premium user. It has some nice premium features, but not something that I’d really need or miss out on if I don’t pay. I’d love to pay but the app needed something more than that. Something that really enhance my fitness and health life. The developer need to focus more on the user needs instead of developing unnecessary features. I see that the recipe and meal recommendation feature is nice, BUT it is not up to my Asian taste. This app might be more suitable for western audience. I may have to find another app that better suited my ethnicity taste. If you want to go global you need to also consider your international customer and their taste. I recommend adding more separate recipe and meal to suit each difference ethnic group and taste.

Annoying bug. Hi, would really like this bug that keeps placing me back to “today” every time I am on a different date into my diary. I like updating my images at a later date when I get a chance to do it or add foods the day before but every time I reference to a different I.e. Photos app for photos of my food, it add to todays date instead of say, two days ago!! It’s incredibly irritating that all of my food items are incorrectly done! Ugh, and I absolutely hate having to redo the items again! I love this app but until you get this fixed I’m just not sure how to manage using this inconvenience. Also, I would really love to add multiple images on each category of breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack! A view options of images to see what I’ve eaten for the week would be helpful!!

Functional but Slow and Frustrating to Use. The app does what it says on the tin, but the interface leaves something to be desired. Turning on notifications for what I hoped would be drink and meal reminders - instead unleashed a barrage of irrelevant diet, health and marketing suggestions. The main screen UI is slow and constantly flashes as it refreshes. Opening the app to add water or a meal takes way too long. Every action you take is slow or delayed which makes me think every interaction is sending data to their servers and waiting for a response. I think this app tries to do too much and doesn’t excel at the most important things for me (which are quick and easy food / water intake and tracking).

Request for a free trial for Premium. I am currently using the free version and loving it, especially the step counter and water tracking. I would be interested in the paid subscription as well but I don’t want to buy it and realise it isn’t what I was expecting. So I would love it if you could have a free trial going so I (and many other customers) can get a feel of the Premium version and then decide whether or not to purchase it.

Enjoy it but would like to see improvements. This is the first app I’ve ever paid for, so that is saying something. I really enjoy the interface. It is easy to use and aesthetically pleasing. My biggest bugbear about it is that it keep reverting back to today’s diary when I am trying to plan future meals. I will be in the middle of adding foods, and then when I finish, I find that the app has reverted back to today and added the foods to today instead of the day I was in. This has been super frustrating. I would also like to see the ability to change the ingredient amounts of Lifesum recipes after you add it to your diary. Sometimes I’m following the lifesum recipe but have substituted ingredients or changed the amount. When I do that, I have to add all the individual ingredients into my diary and forfeit using the recipe shortcut to add to my diary. They’re the biggest things, otherwise, would be good if the barcode catalogue continued to expand to meet Australian needs, but it’s not bad.

Not sure so far. I’ve only been using this app for a few days and it’s been pretty correct with my food diary. The only problem I’m finding is the “premium” pack. I know it’s a way for the company to make their money and this review probably won’t change anything but, I don’t earn enough to afford it as I’m in school and work part time, making people pay money just so they can loose weight is a bit annoying. Yes yes everyone reading this will say “oh well you should just loose weight on your own” or “don’t bother” but for some people like myself I find it hard to loose weight and find the motivation to keep going. Apps like these could save a life if only it were a bit more flexible with what non-members can access. I hope they are able to give more of a guid for non-members.

Helped me lose 10kg. This app was absolutely amazing for me, I used it over the course of around 3 months and successfully hit my goal weight (I wasn't exercising during this time). I used the pro version for the better half of the weight loss but really both versions are great. I 100% recommend this app for anyone trying to lose, gain, or maintain their weight, this app is super easy to use and incredibly helpful.

Love it, but.... I have been using this app for a while now. I love it's design, it is a pleasure to use so far. I would like for this app to be more comparable with other apps such as Fitbit. Needs to be an option to export and easily communicate/transfer Lifesum data to other apps like the Fitbit or equivalent. I want the information I log into Lifesum, such as daily kilojoules and nutritional information to be automatically synced this way. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be an option yet. I know I'm not the only one frustrated by this problem. If they can enable this option like other similar apps already have, then they would definitely get a better rating and recommendation from me.

Too expensive. The app is well designed and looks great, and the few Aussie barcodes I scanned worked perfectly. The problem is you need to subscribe to the pro version and pay $10 per month to sync data from another device... So even if you’re using an Apple Watch, Apple Health, a smart scale, or a Fitbit, you’ll still need to manually input your weight, waist size, etc. No way am I paying $120 per year to allow the app to see data from other sources, this should be included in the free version!! Exporting data I could understand, but importing data just enriches the app experience - and they want you to pay to make their app work better. No thanks!

A few issues. I have started using Lifesum for the past week to track my food and calories. The list of foods is pretty comprehensive and most foods and brands I use are listed. It's easy to use and setup, though functionality it severely limited without paying extra. I do have a few minor issues though. I'm relatively tall and overweight, but the daily calorie total seems way too high (and I manually reduced it as well during the quiz section). I worked out that the "diet" has me eating more calories than I was on before most days (I admit to bad days, that's why I'm overweight). Maybe you want to review how you calculate these things? Your app consistently tells me I'm undereating, when that's obviously not the case. Also, how does adding a single teaspoon of sugar to my only coffee of the day take my healthy all "smiles" breakfast (savoury rolled oats, spinich and an egg) to a "grumpy" face?

Nice but not overly Keto friendly. I love the design, but it’s not as good as I expected it to be. After playing with the free version (healthy eating) for a while, I upgraded to a yearly premium subscription to be able to access the advertised KETO diet plan/parameters. Unfortunately, I could only find 2-3 recipes per meal specific to keto diet (big disappointment)! I didn’t want to give up, so I started manually adding recipes from Pinterest or keto meal plans off the Internet (yes, you need to type them in ingredient by ingredient and step by step, no import function available). As I was uploading recipes and ingredients, the app would flag some of them as not suitable or too high in carbs, much to my surprise and confusion. A tb spoon EVO is supposed to be good for you when you are on a keto diet, right? And blueberries are allowed, I thought? I will keep trying for a couple of days to see if I am using it wrong, then maybe cancel it for a keto-specific one I found online. Other things that would be great, but are NOT there; - meal suggestions based on what you had during the day for balance - intermittent fasting tracker Hope this helps!

Visually and functionally amazing. This app is 100% worth the money. In fact, I think it’s cheap! (But please don’t put the price up 😂) I’ve used a lot of trackers in my day and this one is by far the most aesthetically pleasing, as well as easy to use. It’s amazing how you can choose different diet plans and it adapts to help you stay on that particular track. The little encouraging notes every day are so helpful too. Such a great app! Highly recommend.

Would be perfect but ............ I have only just downloaded this app so I’m still playing around with it and navigating the various features. So far it looks amazing but I haven’t signed up for the premium version until I’m sure it’s going to be suitable for me. I noticed that there is a list of various food allergies and intolerances so I have added a couple that are relevant to my dietary requirements but I could not see one for Fructose Malabsorption and low FODMAP diets. If this was included in your app it could be the deciding factor for me paying for a Premium Membership. I see in your suggestions and feedback page there are a few other requests for the FODMAP diet to be included; any plans for adding it?

Great app. I think this is a really great app. It has everything you could want in a health and fitness app but I just can’t seem to find to switch options between showing my data in kj with calories instead as I prefer it. I also see that you can take pictures of your food, but would love the option to take progress photos of my body with the ability to look at the weight loss physically, please let me know if you have this option and I just can’t find it

Good free app, not worth the premium subscription. I used the free version of the app for a bit to track my daily eating and thought it would be great to try new recipes, especially whilst on the keto diet. However I was disappointed to find such a limited amount of recipes, especially when a lot of them are so repetitive - specifically 17 ways to cook eggs. For $15 for a single month subscription, I would’ve been able to get an actual recipe book with more options or at least even a meal planning/shopping function. 1 month later and another $15 deducted from my account - I didn’t realise I had to cancel the subscription even though I only bought 1 month. This should be made more clear when purchasing.

Great app. This app is awesome. Really easy to navigate through it with just a generally pretty cute layout that is also really helpful to use. My only issue with this app is that when you’re putting stuff in, its as though the app has saved food that the public has put through. So you’ve got things like 1 Apple is 50 calories but there’s also another option for 1 Apple at 40 calories. It gets confusing and a little annoying to have to try to decide which is more likely to be correct. And sometimes it doesn’t even HAVE calories. They’ve put it down as nothing. Get my drift? If it wasn’t for that factor, I’d 100% upgrade my account and pay the money because it’s great otherwise. There’s even recipes on there which you can add to your daily intake. It’s great. Good job otherwise.

Had promise but is way too buggy now.. Purchased a month of the premium subscription to try it out, but I just can’t recommend it. Too expensive for what features it actually offers, especially when they don’t work properly. Using the free version, it just counts carbohydrates in total, and doesn’t display net carbs. Today I tried editing an item on the food diary from yesterday, and instead of updating that entry, it deleted it completely from that day, and added it to today’s entries. Also, multiple times a day, the set macros (which can only be changed with a paid subscription) change to whatever percentages they feel like. I have to keep going back to the nutrition settings to change them to my values multiple times a day. I used this app a few years back when 90% of features weren’t locked behind an absurd paywall, and it was far better. Now I’m expected to pay to use extremely basic features, that barely work.

Almost perfect. I have used this app for around 2 years and had the premium service for a year. I believe this app has one of, if not the best user interface compared to its competitors. Very user friendly and has a visually appealing UI (I did personally prefer the previous user interface slightly though) However, as someone who wants to track all my meals throughout the day it can be frustrating to have to wait more than 10 seconds for the app to open. As a nutrition app, I feel like loading speeds should be more of a priority as users will likely need to be opening the app up multiple times a day. Please fix this issue, many other nutrition tracking apps don’t have this problem.

Buggy. I liked the app in the beginning because of its look, widgets and stuff, and got subscription but after using for 2 days I found that the app is full of bugs. First of all it doesn’t sync Fat % count, waist counts etc from Apple health, it only syncs with weight and bmi. Secondly the most annoying bug is that the widget and the app itself doesn’t sync properly. It shows one value (kal, protein, fat etc) in the app and shows different value on the widget sometimes (happens like 20-30 times a day, of course I didn’t exactly count but it happens a lot). This bug mostly happens when you worked out and burned calories, it doesn’t always take that into account in the widget but if you open the app and close it then the widget starts to show correct value again. Then if you lock your screen then sometimes (a lot) it goes back to old buggy numbers. This is a very basic test you should have done before releasing an update. Quality control team is not doing their job properly. You are charging people $10 per month (3 months membership) and giving this horrible experience. I might ask for a refund from apple but I just like the look of this app so much. So I’m still confused about asking for refund because I really want to use this app.

Love it so far but have some bugs?. Generally i really like the tidy and easy to use setting. Im using premium and happy anout the price. face rating is very cute as well. Im just gonna write down some issues i had so it can be improved. 1. Sometimes when i click and add food to previous days, it will be added to today's. Which i have to delete them all and try several more times. 2. when i add food list, it should add up to 3,000 kj but it says i had more than 30,000kj giving me sad face lol.... 3. sometimes the app freezes and i have to close it completely, try few times to open it and work it again. I dont have issues with other apps so i dont believe it is my phone. It happened to me 2-3 times during the last few weeks. 4. Picture update is very slow. It is not instant, there is lag for sure.

premium is a problem.... Lifesum is a great application for all devices BUT.. u can not access more than 50% of the best things advertised. Without paying $$$$ a month to get proper feedback, results, goals, recipes and much more are inaccessible to the everyday person. the developers of this app need to realise that money doesnt grow on trees.. and not every ambitious person can afford this much. plz make it cheaper!!! or put at least the necessities of a weightloss diet app for free!

Awesome but glitchy. This is definitely the best calorie app I’ve used however it still has teething issues. Sometimes if use the add yesterday’s meal feature it doubles the ingredients or misses them off the list altogether. Also sometimes when I click an ingredient (i.e Greek yoghurt) as it was showing the wrong grams, it wouldn’t open Greek yoghurt but was opening quinoa? I removed them both and readded to fix but just little things like that. Also, it’s confusing how some figures are kilocalories and some figures kilojoules. Can we pick one or the other?

Life changing.. I’ve been using this app for about 6 months now, and just with the little nudges and encouragement it gives to eat the right amounts of the right things, and move more, I’ve managed to drop 4 pants sizes! I had never thought in the world of heavily monetised weight loss and fitness that it truly could ever be as simple as “eat less move more” (and it’s not really - it’s not eat less it’s eat the right amount!) but Lifesum has helped me learn that. 6 months in I find myself using the app a bit less, but that is because it has helped to teach me a better lifestyle where I don’t need to micro-track everything I eat to balance my day, but I’m still very reluctant to let my premium membership go because it has had so much of a massive impact on my life. Truly paradigm-shifting! The only thing I wish it had that it doesn’t is recipes that are a bit more “family” friendly (as in stuff I had a snowball’s hope in hell of getting a picky 4 year old to eat with me!)

Tenth year of using this Great App. I love this app - get serious about diet and exercise for months and then slack off but it’s always there on my iphone to return to. Over 6 months I tracked a 14kg straight line drop in weight and now need to return to that. I started in January 2009 when it was called ShapeUp club. As an older user I need to do 1000cals to have any hope of really loosing weight even though 1200 is recommended minimum - but today I had 10 grapes and it reported 140. Then total for the day 4184..... Ugh. Then I discovered the database had lost my date of birth. And the target doubled to over 8000 when I put in my d of b As I edited the target changed to 2000 cals and that could be changed to my usual 1000 cals. All a bit confusing but I think it must have been an update that caused a glitch.

Almost there.. 2 Major issues for me... I love this App, it works well with the iPhone and Watch but the problem comes when you also want to use the iPad app. The iPad app doesn’t support landscape mode for some weird reason, I wish they would app that. But the main issue is there’s no syncing between iPad and iPhone. You have to log out of the app then back in to force it to Sync. I paid for a subscription so hope they will fix these issues soon. If they did the App would be perfect for me.

Seeking healthy eating. I have been using this app for a few months and love it. I recently rejoined WWA and was using their app to track my food but have switched back to this because of its superior information. This app shows just how nutritionally balanced each meal is and allows you to tweak your choices to get maximum nutritional support. Easiest way ever to manage the development of healthy eating habits. I look forward to seeing the smiley faces for each meal I eat. Good nutrition is more important to me than simple weight loss.

Not too sure anymore.. I’ve had this app for 4 days and I loved it! especially the day ratings that’s basically what has been keeping me on track and today I go to look at the day rating and it’s locked?! I’ve got to pay for a subscription for that now even though 3 days ago I didn’t the day rating was really helpful and I’m upset I cant see it anymore considering I’m only young and I’m currently unemployed I don’t have any money to pay for subscription I just don’t get why you had to change it all of a sudden especially considering this app is meant to help people and the day rating was very helpful for me.

Distinguish between fats?. Like the app a lot. Keep trying others but this hands-down wins. The only thing I’m not keen on is lumping all fats together. Mono unsaturated fats are healthy, but they’re never distinguished from saturated or trans fats. So I feel I get penalised for eating, say, an avocado. And a tin of tuna blows my fat ‘allowance’ out of the water. Also, the auto tracking seems to deactivate itself every night. I have to go to settings every morning, re activate and reconnect to Health app. But like I said, I would still highly recommend this app.

Full of Bugs. I’ve used this app for a couple of years and was happy to pay for premium because a lot of the features were really handy. However it seems with each update the app has gotten worse and worse. I’ve just received an update that logged me out and now upon logging me back in it seems ALL of my custom meals I added in to create easy tracking (which is a great feature) are completely empty. The title of the meal is there but no ingredients or measurements. Plus now it just won’t let me track anything. I’ve been trying to add my calories in all day and refreshed the app multiple times, still nothing actually tracks no matter how many times I add it. It looks like I’ve eaten nothing all day. I’ve just paid for another round of premium a few weeks ago and it seems it’s all for nothing as the app won’t even function at its most basic level now. For the price you pay it’s pathetic and unless they get it together I will be taking my money elsewhere and deleting the app after years of loving it and being loyal to it.

A m a z i n g. I’m usually not one for healthy eating and all that jazz since I’m just a eat-when-hungry-eat-when-bored kinda 14 year old but this app makes it so simple to lose weight. It honestly makes you feel great about yourself while giving small tips of encouragement. I HIGHLY recommend getting this app even if you’re just planning on having a healthy lifestyle or if you’re just generally interested in how you’re lifestyle is.

Getting closer. The app itself is absolutely fantastic. However there are two MAJOR flaws: I would say nearly all of the Lifesum approved nutritional information is wrong. Which is an issue for tracking macros as it can’t be edited even when I have the packaging with the correct information in front of me! It kind of defeats the whole purpose of the tracking and you’ll end up with a million duplicates in your food database as I just make a new item without the barcode whenever something is incorrect. You also can only set your macros via a percentage of your total caloric goal. This means you can’t set your exact goals as they may not be whole percent increments. There should be the ability to type your macro goals in manually to get the exact gram targets.

Good but won't sync. This app is good on the iphone, although the Apple watch app does not sync with the iPhone app at all. I have KJ enabled on the iphone app but it's showing kcal on the watch app. The burned, eaten and remaining all are not up to date with the iPhone app even after restarting the watch, the phone and the app. Even worse is that the Apple watch app and the Apple watch face nutrients display don't even sync. Apparently this has been an issue for a long time and still hasn't been fixed. I would consider going premium if only it would sync.

Pretty good. I don’t pay but I do love the app it can scan so many brands 😂and I think it’s great as I said I don’t pay and it’s still FANTASTIC. The only thing I wish would change is the fact you can’t get it on a laptop. I also only got the app two days ago and I already know how to control the app ☺️ and the whole placement of the app is great so... I really LOVE this app it’s the best out of all the apps I’ve tried so you should definitely get this and I think the stickers they added are so cute anyway bye 👋😋😋😋

Super basic app. I paid the premium but I regret it. The app is nice but very (very) basic. There are others that are much more complete and much more worthwhile. One feature I think it should have is that when you choose a fasting diet, it doesn't have an hour counter. This is something I've seen in so many other less famous apps. I've already canceled my subscription and unfortunately I got the 3-month package and this is the only app that doesn't have a trial. Don't subscribe, it's expensive for what it offers.

It’s just ok. At first I thought this was great. Now, more things annoy me. The recipes seem to be all with tofu. There’s no option to eliminate dislikes like tofu from the recipes it shows. Some of the scanned barcodes are wrong and it will not let me edit the info saying that I’m wrong ( looking right at the package). Impossible to contact support as it simply will not send. Tho I wasn’t able to attach anything either so it was pointless anyway. Oh and chat doesn’t work. Won’t even connect. Regretting this subscription.

Can’t set daily calories. You can’t choose your daily calorie allowance without the premium membership lol, it locks it on 1944 calories per day. Can’t even try the most basic parts of a calorie tracking app before deciding if you want a membership? Strange and the first calorie counting app I’ve seen that does this

This is the best calorie tracking app. Tried other apps for trying to track my calories accurately and this one take the cake I scan everything I buy and it matches perfectly, must download for sure and I’m not even paying for the extra content it provides, great app!!

Decimals. Hello, i loved that before we could count a fraction of an item (example 0.5 serving), i came here to write a review about it and just saw that on your latest update 3 days ago you say you fixed the bug about decimals, but it’s pretty much the opposite… Otherwise, i love the app, been using it for a while, thank you

Needs more features. It’s a great app. And the meal evaluations are helpful. However, it doesn’t allow: 1) for printing the recipes (easier to follow, my iPhone times out and cannot be adjusted). 2) to adjust a recipe to fit the daily macronutrient limits.

Subscription Error. Love the app - subscription discount in app is not reflected when purchased. They will charge you full price for the subscription despite advertising it as 50% off.

Won’t even let me make an account. It’s claiming I have an existing account with my email, yet won’t send me a forgot password confirmation email .. and I NEVER SIGNED UP. What a joke

Very good. I really like this app. But I wouldn't mind if I could see my weight changes on the scale. From the beginning of my diet to the desired weight. And add more recipes.

Doesn’t open. Really sick of paying for an app that half the time doesn’t even open. It’s so beautifully designed which is what made me support the app and start a paid membership, but half the time when I need it to open it doesn’t open and instead I have to track in my notes and photos which defeats the purpose of the app. App is updated, phone software is update. This isn’t an issue of my phone.

Doesn’t approve. It asks for the weight and I putted 40kg they said that was an error. Fix that

Х*іта. Безплатна версія зависає і не грузиться, не допомагає перезагрузка, сервери походу в жопі світу!!!

Very good app. This is the best app I’ve found for weight loss and healthy eating

Excellent. Way better than Myfitnesspal, easy to navigate and understand. The apps reward you when you do something good. Simple and easy highly recommended.

Sucks. This app sucks don’t get it when you put in how much you Way it doesn’t work properly. This app sucks so don’t get it

Really inaccurate. I am giving this platform theee stars for style and plug and play ease of use. But I am having to fact check almost every food because the portions are really strange. They use “1 cup” to refer to everything from 1oz of shredded cheese to 4 oz of yogurt etc. - none of which is an actual cup measure. And there are no “laymen’s measurements” for food, such as 12 grapes etc. it’s all by weight which is supposed to be more accurate…if only that were so lol. What is “standard serving” of lettuce? How about you tell us a leaf or a cup chopped? Who weighs their lettuce? I end up shrugging and guesstimating which isn’t ideal. Just try finding out how many calories a Tb of peanut butter is. Even the “verified” name brand calories are off (I check against the jar right in front of me). I’m on the fence whether to continue with this app. Only use if you are already really familiar with calories and can use your own judgement. Pretty platform though, and I like the health assessments of each food (green/yellow/orange) and the weekly health assessment. Recipes are good. Exercise calories burned also feels pretty true. Way better “vibe” than the other popular free site. Please start assessing your database guys, I really want to stick with you.

used to be fantastic. I used to love Lifesum because tracking my macros, calories, exercise etc. was so simple. Everything was right there. Now with the new 'aesthetic' visuals, it's confusing and hard to navigate. Where are my day ratings? I've used this app for years. Sad to see it go.

Great App. Good benefits and understanding of the foods we eat - would be great if you could share recipes or meals. My husband and I both use it and have to duplicate entries to get accurate tracking.

Great app!! Love it. Love this app. Super motivating but also goes above and beyond to provide you with resources and convenient ways to track things! Price for worth it but the free plan is great too!

Lots of room for improvement. I chose Lifesum because it’s well-rated on blogs, but it’s got some work to do. The search function doesn’t bring always up great results. Many of the ‘verified’ foods are incorrect, which to me is a failing of the foundations of the app. To add to that frustration, these incorrect foods are linked to barcodes, which prevents linking a barcode when adding the correct information. Personally added meals/recipes/foods are hidden under ‘progress’ which is not intuitive or quick to access. The app does have some great food plan and diet options, but if you’re someone who cooks a lot and is more concerned about accuracy and ease of use than having diet and nutrition guidance, this may not be the app for you.

Subscription. So far so good. The reason for the 3 stars is you have a discount but you did not publish the code.

PITA. Open the app and have it push some new ridiculous diet in your face every day. Clumsy app. Will not renew.

Overall amazing, couple of features missing. I really love the overall user experience and ability to log foods in Lifesum. It’s helped tremendously with my health goals and gaining awareness. Pretty easy to use, and updates to the app make it even more intuitive and natural than before. I wish that there was a bit more nutrition information available. For example- I some key micronutrients like iron or B12 would be great to know. It would also be cool to input any goals for those micronutrients (in the same way we can adjust the macros on Lifesum) to match our unique health goals. It would also be nice if some features would automatically update, for example the finding Nemo to track seafood is cute but why doesn’t it update and “add a nemo” automatically if I log a serving of salmon (for example) for a meal? Finally, I would love if I could somehow link a recipe from a website or the nutritional information of a recipe from a website on Lifesum without having to go through adding all the ingredients and steps for meal each time… some sort of automation or even if there could be an add on for a web browser like “add this recipe to Lifesum” but I realize that’s a more challenging ask. Would be nice to be able to do those things from a desktop too, which is not a feature of this app. Overall great app, thanks!

What a relief!. After trying a couple of other free calorie tracker apps, this is hands down the best by a massive margin. The last one I used was a shameful deluge of fast food advertising garbage! This one finds the food you eat (chicken) instead of making you plough through every fast food chain of items that has ‘chicken’ as an ingredient!! I seriously love the holistic approach this app takes, including data from your iPhone health? holy mother of God is that useful! Thank you. I would recommend this app over any other.

Great UI, database, minor bugs. Very impressed so far. I purchased the premium version and will see how it performs. Pros: - very nice and colorful user interface - extensive database - displays macro summary on main screen (which MFP does not with free version) -diet plans are a nice touch Cons: - recipes are sometimes too complicated or require too many ingredients - app is buggy at times and freezes/crashes on iPhone X Really annoying: for some reason the units revert back to the European system every time I select US system. Makes it annoying to have to go back and re-select US units.

Very please in general. I pay for premium membership and I'm satisfied but I would like net carbs to be calculated rather than just total carbs.

Creating recipes requires premium. No thanks.. If I wanted to manually add each ingredient after each meal I’d still be using MFP. Features like Creating Recipes are now premium only, when the used to be free. What’s next, removing the scanner? Awful decision.

Great and pretty but. Don’t like that the recent foods only show in the same category as it was inputted. Ex if I have an English muffin at breakfast, it doesn’t show up as recent for lunch. Or when you search the items you actually used don’t come up. Makes it more time consuming to re-add the exact item.

Food tracking is frustrating. The food data base is very limited, which makes tracking calories a frustrating task! I had found during my two week free trial of Noom, that tracking what I ate every day was a very significant factor for me, in trying to live healthier. Noom seemed to have almost everything I searched for in their database with accurate nutritional information. However Noom is very expensive compared to this app, so I abandoned Noom for this app, which I’d hoped would be as user friendly in regards to food/calorie tracking. Unfortunately this is not the case, so I find myself using comparable foods/dishes in the limited database and just going with them for ease of use. Which leaves me feeling as though I’m not truly tracking my intake, opening the door to failure!

Glitchy. trying to maintain calories but no matter how many times my clients and i reset the app, it gives us random calories per/day not the amounts we put in. my clients and i have been using this app for awhile and i used to always recommend it but this bug hasn’t been removed and we are tired of paying for something that doesn’t do the only thing it’s meant to do. the app looks pretty but it’s just lazy and improper. will be taking our business else where.

Life changing. Amazing App. COMPLETELY helped to change my eating habits. EXTREMELY user friendly. My only complaint / suggestion would be better verification of food nutritional values as some foods are clearly NOT correct. PLEASE correct this because otherwise this app is perfect!

Last update. I love the app.. but I wish that the last update didn’t change the numeric side of things. I liked the fact that I could put ,25 but now we can’t and it sucks!

Aime.

Je me sens arnaquée.

Keto diet. I want an app that’s completely free. I’m already going to be buy groceries and switching up I don’t want to pay 64$ for you to give me tips for the keto diet. The keto diet is not good for people. It isn’t. It’s meant for one body type. This diet would never have worked for me if anything it would’ve made me more underweight and unhealthy.

Favourite Features Gone. I used to love this app but some of my favourite features (such as milestones, weight loss goals per week) have been removed with the new update. Additionally, the app has many glitches which make it even more frustrating to use. I would not recommend purchasing the premium membership for this app at this time.

Great app but,. I like to track my food intake to keep myself on track. With ADHD, I forget to eat sometimes. Now, I’m facing a new challenge/diagnosis, Crohn’s disease. I’d like if there was a section that you could add if you have gastro intestinal issues that would affect your ability to process certain foods…

The New Update Renders the App Useless. After paying for the premium membership just over two weeks ago (and finally adjusting to awkward logging and measurements used), the new app update has removed the decimal from inputting. The app has now become completely useless. Very disappointed.

Less features over time. I remember when Life Sum first came out. It was a really good app with lots of free to use features and only the meal plans were locked behind a pay wall. So the average user would be able to track their food and exercise, get feedback with ratings, and receive ways to improve their ratings after taking the health quiz all for free. Over time, more and more features that were once free to users have been locked behind paywalls or removed altogether. First it started with the meal ratings, and now it’s moved to recommendations on improving health scores. It’s clear to me now that Life Sun wanted to attract users to fill in their food catalog for free and as they gained more users and filled out their catalog with user-generated items, they are now locking everything behind expensive subscriptions for a database that their users helped to generate. TL;DR : don’t download this app and just use an app like Chronometer that hasn’t locked every initially free feature behind a paywall. This app used to be great but will now charge you for every little feature.

Great but needs improvement. Points lost due to menu issues. I have been using this app for over a year. I love that it gives me the ability to track my meals, gives me great menu items I never thought to make, and easy to use instructions. For a first timer, it’s great. Here is where I have an issue. If you order a latte from Starbucks as an example, you do not get the ability to modify it properly based on the Starbucks ingredients information the Starbucks app gives. So the tracking can be off. It’s not the most user friendly to use there. Your options for some drinks are only venti. That’s just an example. Another issue is that certain menu items, particularly in the Mediterranean section- are offensive for someone whose cultural background is of the region. To start- there is no such thing as tofu in the Mediterranean diet, to add that is simply odd. Whoever made item ‘tofu with quinoa taboule, herbs, and walnuts’ clearly does not know what the word or the actual dish is. Taboule is literally a form of chopping in Arabic- and it refers to the finally chopped Parsley salad! There is no quinoa(also foreign to the region) or walnuts. The item itself is a true crime against Arabic cuisine. Please look up the actual taboule before adding this item. Feel free to call it anything else except taboule, because that is not what it is. The next is shakshoka. This is an example of colonial cultural appropriation. The dish is North African in origin, yet the comment states ‘we swear by this Israeli dish’. Respectfully, this is not an Israeli dish. It’s very common in the region but the origins are North African. The addition of corn to it does north make it Israeli, but rather a common practice there and in the Palestinian Territories. Adding this kind of quote for the dish only corrupts and adds a political context that is not needed in an app about nutrition and healthy eating.

It’s okay. There are quite a few glitches. It wasn’t obvious that not all the plans will show up depending on your dietary preferences. I ended up removing all my settings so I could see all the plans available and adjust the recipes to vegetarian if needed. And sometimes it’s not clear what the serving size is for a recipe. I’ve also noticed that some of the caloric info is wrong on scanned barcodes But otherwise it’s good for getting back on track! Not bad

Lots of potential but some glaring shortfalls. Lots to like about this app (covered elsewhere) but a few glaring shortfalls that folks should be aware of before subscribing. 1. First of meals are limited to 4 per day (three regular and one “snack”). Those on training programs that might have a morning, evening or afternoon snack and wish to track as individual meals - this app won’t work for you. seems to be a relatively simple software tweak to allow users to configure number of meals etc… But if you are ok with consolidating all “outside of meal” meals into one snack, this could work. 2. More seriously - exercise workout data IS NOT IMPORTED from apple products (only steps) so for those who track activity / workouts using your iwatch, this absolutely won’t work. It seems to be focused on partnering with the Fitbit ecosystem with runkeeper as an option for those who are runners. But resistance training tracked using apple products will find this doesn’t work for them. 3. FOR ALL USERS - Not sure why the software crazies insist on defaulting calorie adjustment for activity. This means that unless you turn off this setting the tracker will encourage more eating to offset your activity. I guess it will preserve a simple colour deficits but for those who may increase activity as the primary means to create a calourie deficit will have their efforts completely offset by folllowing advice. I would fire the software guy who thought this was a smart default setting. I would really love to use this to consolidate several apps but as an iwatch user that uses weight training and activity as the primary way to create a calourie deficit, you can see why this app needs tweaking. That said, there is A LOT of great things about it, which is why I haven’t deleted and continue to watch to hopefully see the tweaks necessary to work for me.

I am obese. I tried to put my weight 188kg and it won’t let me thank you for making me insecure anymore... horrible app

Life sum - amazing app. First - it is easy to choose your eating plan for 21 days. And with the thermometer I see myself eating healthier, as I lose weight. Second - it is easy to log my progress - Daily! Third - daily it offers me a menu for all three meals and snack AND I can swap out a meal for another. I DON’T HAVE TO FIGURE OUT WHAT TO COOK THIS DAY. That’s amazing. Actually maybe the best part. Fourth - it reminds me by text to drink water, or to encourage me with “great work”. I haven’t even discovered all the App’s built-ins and I’ve been enjoying myself for 24 days. Even my husband is not complaining, although he should be now buying a size smaller in jeans. He’s beginning to look like a Rap Dude.

djsjsks. i Hate IT SO MUCH IT DOESNT EVEN LET ME PUT IT MY WEIGHT UT JUST SAYS OOP?-?-?- ARE U SURE RHATS WHAT U MEANT IM SO CHEEZED DONT SOWNLOAD

I don’t hate it…. Lifesum is good but I find it annoying I can’t connect it to my Apple watch nor can I see the daily rating of my health without paying. I totally understand asking for money for premium but the whole reason I got the the app was to improve my health and I can’t do that without seeing my daily rating. Like?.. seriously?

So close to being perfect. I pay for premium and expected it to recommend foods or ways to make up for missed nutrition goals. Example: I didn’t meet my protein goal for breakfast - what food item would help me meet that calorie and nutrition goal and is there a recipe to accompany that recommendation? Please that would make premium really worth the money!!

Great app but has some bugs. Nice app for tracking weight and nutrition but currently experiences a calorie bug and won't respect what's set under profile. I have target set to 1927cal/day but it doesn't use that as the daily limit.

Be careful. Be careful subscribing to this app! I ended up getting charged far more than the special discounted rate. I want my money back and haven't even confirmed my account

This app is very well made. It has easy to navigate features that any person who is either trying to gain or lose weight will benefit from massively. I have been trying to clean bulk and it has been helpful in making sure I am gaining weight, but also that I understand what kind of weight I am gaining (either fat or muscle). It not only helps a person keep track and stay consistent, but also does all the calculations for you. You don’t have to figure anything out, it just asks you some questions (height, weight, age, weight goal, etc.) and based on this key information, it decides how much you should be eating in a day, what type of nutrients and macros to get in your body, and even how much water to consume daily. On top of all this, it also gives you reports on what types of things you are doing great at or need to improve. For example: “Try to incorporate more vegetables and seafood (fish) in your diet.” Or “Try to drink more water.” Finally, I will say that I have been on this plan for 25 days so far, and I (someone that is known as a “hard gainer”) have gained 4+ pounds. I notice a size difference, and it is almost all muscle mass, allowing me to maintain abs and keep a lean physique. Overall, I 100% recommend getting this app. The only thing I would tell someone to do, is not attempt to become perfect. Don’t worry about little things such as “I didn’t eat all 3 meals today” or “I forgot to drink all 8 glasses of water”, just stay decently consistent, and you will see improvement. Thank you to this app

Love this app with some minor flaws!. I switched from MyFitnessPal because of the lack of Apple Watch integration. This app syncs flawlessly with my watch. It also gives great feedback on what foods I chose to put in my body. The LifeScore function is really awesome to see on a weekly basis so I can fine tune my diet and exercise. It’s a great way to track your food quality, calories and macros. However, there are some minor flaws with this app. It does not log your micronutrients for you, only your macronutrients. I would really like to be able to see what vitamins and minerals I’m getting enough of. Another thing that is frustrating is that I strength train 3-4 times a week but it says I don’t strength train at all…I’m not sure why that is. Also, you have to hand log your recipes instead of just typing in a url like in MyFitnessPal. Despite these things I would still recommend this app to the health conscious person who wants consistent feedback on the quality of their diet.

It’s pretty good, but it’s missing some stuff. I first want to start off by saying that I really love Lifesum, it’s been really helpful to me in seeing what I eat and how much I drink. The fact that I use it so much has just given me the time to see some issues with the App (especially on iPad) that definitely need addressing. I work on an iPad Pro, so the fact that Lifesum has no horizontal view to speak of is incredibly annoying. Say I’m typing up a paper, and I grab a banana. If I were to input the banana, I would have to pick up my iPad, fold back the keyboard, turn it vertically, and then enter the banana. It’s too many steps for what could be very simple with a horizontal view Additionally, it NEEDS to be easier to input frequented meals. You can technically enter singular items, but if you frequent a dish, I think you should be able to just create that dish, and enter it as you please without the struggle of entering each singular item.

Too helpful lacking a little functionality. I would go back to being a paid subscriber if I could turn the faces off. Unknown to the designers, I am not overweight because I need coaching, have no willpower, or am ignorant. I also have a lot of food allergies and eat what I can. I don’t need an app making faces at my food. It is also very hard to enter food that is not a barcode scan. Putting together what they call meals is very clunky on a phone, and I end up having to start over again. It’s hard to adjust quantities when you eat different amounts of a component from time to time. When I eat locally, it is almost impossible to track. I don’t know if there’s a solution for this. Also, if I go out to a chain restaurant, I almost never eat everything or eat a certain % of each item. You can’t say I didn’t eat the tortillas or sour cream and back those things out. Over all it is not a bad tracking app. Just hard to justify continuing my subscription.

It’s a good app, but there’s issues.. I really do like this app. Its colorful, positive, and helpful in tracking calories. However, if there is one thing that really ruins my experience, it’s that you cannot view the nutritional values. It is illegal for packaging companies to withhold nutritional facts, and chain restaurants have to offer nutritional values for their food as well in order to “help Americans be healthy”. So why is an app, specifically designed for dieting withholding that information unless you pay for it? I think this is actually quite unjust. Yes, they do display protein, carbs, and fat, however the rest is blocked. The second problem with this app is that there is limited choices for entries. What I mean, is that if you try to log an exercise, there are many that are not included so you must guess on the amount of calories you burned. Additionally, many of the food values and/or portions are incorrect, and many foods are still not on there. But all in all, it’s a pretty good app, I will say that.

Amazing!. Edit: Now that I know how to create foods (thank you for the response to my review with this information) this app has everything I want and need and I could not be happier! This app is the better MFP! I have been an avid MyFitnessPal user for years now and I switched to this mostly because of the aesthetics but I also do like the things you can do with the paid version more then the free version of MFP. My main complaint though with this is that you can’t create food items or input the ingredients for a recipes to create a serving like in MFP. So when I cook something that has many servings I can’t figure out how to track it on here since I can’t easily put 1/16 of a portion of an ingredient I used in the recipe if it has 16 servings. I would really like the ability to create a food by inputting the ingredients to be added especially since I am paying for this app. Thank you

Really enjoying this app!. I really enjoy using this app - I’ve used a bunch of free and paid dieting aids like WW and MyFitnessPal among others - what I really enjoy about this is that you can pick from several dieting options, and there’s no real *pressure* - more friendly suggestions. With other apps and services I always felt there was an underlying judgement on how or what I ate, and the colors, icons etc. Implied negativity if I did something “wrong.” This app points out what I could improve, but again does it in a positive way. I enjoyed this so much right away that I immediately paid for it - I am happy to support such a great service. So much cheaper than some services and offers as much or more - instead of “locking you in” to a system, this one lets you explore options and find what works for you. The one thing that kept me from giving it all five stars is that I noticed that sometimes the calories are slow to sync between my fitbit app and this one. So, I’ve gotten a couple of instances of “false reads” on how many calories I had left for certain meals. It’s not the end of the world - it eventually caught up - I can see how something like that might accidentally lead someone astray and falsely lead them to believe they can have a square of brownie when maybe they really couldn’t 😆 Other than that, I love this app. Thank you!

Changed my life. I have gone through so many different dieting and nutrition apps, and when I downloaded it I didn’t think this one was going to be any different than the others. But from the very beginning, you can tell how much effort has been put into this app to not only help you reach your goals but to leave an everlasting imprint on your lifestyle for the better. This app is the best thing that could have happened to me, I struggled with an eating disorder and a lot of these apps did not help. As I was healing, I had wanted a food tracker but was scared it was going to negatively affect me again. But instead, I don’t even think of this app as a calorie counter anymore. It helps me make the best food choices I can to support my body in the way it needs and makes me aware of my choices, which created a mindset healthier than the food I was deciding to eat.

Disappointing. This app needs a LOT of work. I want to like it and i’m disappointed because I even bought a subscription, I wish I could get my money back. For starters, whenever you go to log a food the barcode scanner is almost always wrong, usually only by 10-20 calories but enough to be annoying because it isn’t accurate. Whenever you go to “fast track” a food because if doesn’t exist in the database and you don’t want to add a full meal it always says that the macros don’t add up which makes no sense because i’m entering exactly what the label says and this has happened every time i have tried to use the “fast track” feature. Whenever you do find the food you need and you go to track it, it does not allow you to put halves. For example If I ate 1.5 cups of blueberries I can only add 1 or 2 cups, I can’t add the half. Sure, I can convert cups to tablespoons and add how many tablespoons but this is annoying and frankly I shouldn’t have to convert, the app should allow 1/2 portions. Pretty much the only thing i LIKE about this app is the layout.

A Worthy App But …. There’s always a but. Health and fitness apps are just weird — you can’t be everything for everybody, covering all the bases. But you should do the basics well … and LifeSum does the basics OK with room for improvement. It’s a worthy app to try, to even sign up for a Premium account (at the 50 percent off discount), but will it hold up day to day, month to month? I’m not sure. I decided not to go into a point by point review of likes and dislikes. There is plenty to like, and the 50 percent off incentive to use the Premium edition is a great way to attract new users. After a year if I like I can continue to use at a reasonable cost. If not, I’ll use something else. Surprisingly, what I don’t like is the UI. Once past the initial “oh this is nice” reaction to the visuals, I started noticing inconsistencies and functional inefficiencies. I’m not a UI guru or UI nerd, but I was expecting a more well-thought-out-and-functional app for everyday use, which includes recording daily food intake, easily creating on-the-fly recipes, importing recipes (perhaps from a recipe manager), exporting (not just “sharing”) data, analysis, and trends. As it is, LifeSum is a fine app that I am committed to using for the next year. I just wish the UI was a bit more functionally-polished and less cute. started noticing UI quirks, inefficiencies, and

Good but can be better. The (free version of the) Lifesum app definitely helped me shred the few pounds I wanted. The food tracking component to the app itself is robust and easy to use. I have had almost no trouble finding the food I eat, despite having a very particular diet. Scanning barcodes makes it even quicker. The biggest drawback to this app, however, is the exercise component. The selection is rather limited and you can’t add in your own. My biggest gripe with this feature is that once it syncs with your health app or any running tracker, there is no way for the recorded data to be deleted or edited. I went on a run last weekend and had to edit what my running calculator put together. The run was exported to the Lifesum app twice. On top of that, my Health app counted the steps as well. So essentially, my run was counted 3x, which threw off my caloric limit by over 1,000 calories. I was able to do the math and it was fine, but it’s certainly a clunky feature.

Great App, Could use some added features. I love this app and have been using it to track my food for a long time. I just wish there where better ways to add in my workouts? I feel like there’s not a lot of customization there and the list of workouts to choose from is very odd. I also feel like theres some issues with entering food, I can’t always find what I’m looking for and very often the things I eat don’t have ratings. I’m vegetarian and sometimes I feel that this app doesn’t understand that someone who is a vegetarian or vegan needs different things or nutrients than someone who eats meat. I also feel like the grading/motivation part of this app could use help. As someone who has struggled with eating disorders, the grading can make me feel bad about my eating choices. Other than those things, I think this app is probably the best among its competitors and it actually gives me insight on the food I’m putting into my body. It’s also very visually appealing and organized.

better than myfitnesspal, just needs to address reports. I love this app ten times more than myfitnesspal, and it’s more affordable in my opinion. I have reached my weight loss goals because of this app’s recommendations and intermittent fasting tracker, the aesthetic appeal of the app makes it more enjoyable to track and login to everyday, and the information is easy to understand. myfitnesspal was daunting and overloaded with info that just didn’t make sense to someone like me with zero knowledge on eating properly/micros. The only reason I didn’t give it a five is because the app is very strict to the nutritional info balancing out correctly more than the actual accuracy of what the label says. So, I’ll put in exactly what nutritional info a food label says on the box, but the app will not want to log it because it doesn’t make sense according to what the app thinks is accurate. (sorry if I explained that horribly) I always report it but i’m not sure how much developers actually look at those reports..

Very Inaccurate. I like the idea of it but it’s completely inaccurate for a lot of things. Even though I scanned the exact items I was using to try to make it more accurate, it was saying my bread had half the protein and double the calories is really has, then for my plant milk says it has 27 grams of protein instead of 10? Very confusing and completely wrong. It also gave a better rating to my vegan Caesar dressing than HALF of a small avocado and celery.. Also I put that my food preference was vegan and every single meal suggestion it gave me wasn’t even vegetarian, they were all meat? It’s also inaccurate for the amount of protein you need, it shows that I’m low in protein because it says I need just under 100 grams a day which is literally double what I need for my weight? I feel like I can’t trust it at all and it’s honestly annoying how even when you scan the item it doesn’t pull up the correct nutrition facts and the ratings are so off. Like Caesar dressing is really healthier than celery and avocado.. definitely not a good app. Disappointed.

Myfitnesspal all the way!!!. Lifesum has nothing on my fitness pal I tried to love this app so bad came and paid $15 to have it replace my fitness pal. Love the animation and all the smiley faces for healthy eating, great and positive. But on a performance level it’s absolutely a joke and does not deliver at all. Day one I literally tried scanning basic name brand things and everything I scanned was the wrong items and the wrong macros. I tried all day with the scanning feature and it happened every single time. Once is fine but every time? That would never happen on MyFitnessPal it was bam found and done. Macros is already hard enough to track. Life sum needs to focus on the quality of tracking instead of giving us tips on healthy eating and recipes. We don’t need that we have google. Focus on the actual quality of the macro tracker and finding food efficiently and quick. Do better. Going back to MyFitnessPal again. And if your frustrated with tracking go over there it’s much more simpler and faster. No need to be discouraged, obsessed, and upset with tracking for weight loss goals. Boom and your done. Good day.

Love this app but... Needs more ways to personalize tracking. This is a beautiful and great app... though, I'm coming up on my year renewal and I'm unsure about going forward. My issues: 1. I hate that I have to delete and re-input my items in the event that I put my food in the wrong place (ie- add in all my stuff at the beginning of the day but I ate a lunch item for dinner instead). Other apps allow you to move the item/recipe between meals without having to delete all that you've input. 2. When I try to edit a recipe or add something to an old recipe, it seems to be really difficult or you actually can't do it unless you make a whole new one and this is super annoying. Or I have to add the ingredient separately after tracking the recipe that I wish I could just update. Whyyyy? Please make these editable. 3. I can only input 3 meals a day but I actually eat 3 meals and 3 smaller meals (I do high protein and can eat 30g per meal). Makes it harder to see what's what and what I've missed. I've seen this in another app as well but Lifesum doesn't have this feature Overall, I've enjoyed this app. But where it shines in beauty, it makes it difficult to personalize how you track which makes me less likely to use it consistently because it's frustrating tl:dr it takes long enough to input everything... Isn't there a way to allow the user to move things around easier and personalize our tracking?

Life changing. I am the master of fitness apps. Weight watchers? Sure. Sparks people? Ok. Fitness pal? Yep. Log it (can’t remember name but thinks that’s right) yeppers... This app BLOWS THEM ALL AWAY. I have NEVER paid for a premium version of one of the freebie apps (except WW... duh!) but this all changed with this app. It works absolutely beautiful with my new Apple Watch 4... like beautifully! Shows all the carbs, calories, all that fun jazz I’ve eaten that day. But the PLANS! Ive been on keto recently and losing weight just fine but when I saw this had an easy, moderate, and hard keto plans... I was like... ok take my money! And low and behold I was over calculating how many carbs I could have for my small stature. So I probably will lose weight even faster with this app! Plus it has tons of recipes.. Just download app. Free version is good. Premium plans are bamf. I paid 20 a month for WW for years, and this breaks down to 44 a year for specialized diet plans...Girlllll treat yo self

It needs some work. I am 14 and I’m overweight and trying to lose fat and gain muscle, so I tried this. For most parts of this app, I like it. It shows me what I’m eating and helps me learn what I’m putting in my body vs what I need to put in my body. But some of the goals seem unrealistic. I chose the high protein plan as it gives me energy to workout and keeps me full longer, but it wants me to eat 32g of protein a meal and 97g of protein for a snack. I couldn’t handle it, eating that much protein made me feel awful and super full. I couldn’t even finish my protein shake, which is very uncommon for me. And a lot of the foods I eat aren’t recognized on the food searcher. I also wish I could do the thing with the meals but on the exercise option, like “what you did yesterday” instead of having to re-enter my exercise everyday. Overall I would recommend this to people who want to know more about healthy eating, but there are definitely some kinks that could be worked out.

A little glitchy. I got the app about a month ago. It’s helping me stay on track in a loose way, which I appreciate. I say loose because sometimes the food entered is an estimate because they either don’t have that food item in their database and you have to pick something similar, or they don’t have that food item in anything other than ounces and grams. I find myself googling how many ounces is 1/2 cup of _____ way too often. But my biggest beef right now is that past 6pm, the daily progress page glitches and is blank. No totals shown!! And there’s no customer support in the app to be able to tell anyone this. So it ends up in an app review hoping they’ll see it and correct it. 🙄 I would also like to see a page with totals shown for each food category— for example fiber— get a list of foods where each gram of fiber for the day came from. At this point in time you have to click on each meal and click on the foods individually to check. It’s inconvenient. LoseIt is the better app, but this one is prettier and less complicated. With that comes some sacrifices. Like not being able to edit recipes after you’ve entered them, not being able to copy and paste recipes (you have to look up each ingredient manually). Overall, it’s fine for what it is. Basic macro counting. But hoping they fix the daily progress page soon or I’m out once my 3 months is up.

Cool app but needs more user unique features. Let me start off by saying, I really like this app in terms of calorie counting wise. I just need the app to stay consistent and update food options in real time. I love the barcode feature because I can keep track, step by step when I’m making my own meals. However, when I’m eating out, I would like the app to be ready to know and look up what I’m eating. It just makes it a little easier for the user to get an exact match to food while eating out. The other thing is workouts and calories burned. I wish the app would let you track workout videos and burned calories through trackers rather then estimating. It would be a really cool idea to insert a direct link to the video you did, so you can keep track of your fav workouts and closely monitor your progress with said workouts all in one app. Correct me if I’m wrong in thinking this way. Other than those issues I mentioned, it’s a pretty cool simple, app to get dieting on track!!

More than I hoped for!. Taking the time to explore a little I have found the free version of this app to be amazing! Initially I was looking for a macro counter. I’ve used My Fitness Pal a little but found Lifesum to be so much more user friendly. You can choose your eating lifestyle (I hate to say diet. Because it should be a forever lifestyle) and change it at any time if need be. Within that “diet” there are so many recipes. Recipes that you can tag as “saved” and there’s a saved area within your personal profile for easy access. I’ve allowed notifications to remind me to do things. Weight is one. Doesn’t sound exciting but actually watching the graph change as I go has actually been a visual motivator! Logging your meals is super easy. I can go on and on. The lifestyle I’ve chosen is Ketogenic Strict. Just awesome. Can’t imagine what the premium version offers!

Nice meal plan and rating features but frustrating issues with the app. The meal plans and nutrient / day ratings set this app apart from other trackers, but I have a few gripes that make using the app frustrating. 1) I have serious glitches with weight tracking. Every time I enter my current weight, it ends up changing to 280.4 lbs, no matter what I entered. I enter the weight, go check the details and make sure it’s correct, and then the next time I check, it’s set to 280.4, regardless of what I actually entered. I have to go update it again for it to stick. Sometimes I miss this for multiple days at a time, and look to find that all the weights I entered are 280.4. Very annoying. 2) I find some of the UI around meal tracking to be cumbersome. For example, if I track that I ate an apple for lunch, then the next day I eat an apple for breakfast, the apple doesn’t show up as a suggestion for recent foods because it was eaten at a different meal. I then have to go through the process of searching for an apple again in the database. I also find it annoying that I have to create a new favorite food for any custom entries. Just let me input my custom food and nutrient measurements and I’ll worry about whether I want it to be a favorite or not. Lastly, when creating a new food, it forces you to enter a total weight before you can do anything. I’m finding most nutrition labels don’t include weight, so I end up putting 1g for everything. Rather just leave it blank.

The best tracking app out there. I’ve tried loose it and my fitness pal. I went ahead and went premium for this one so I can see grams of protein. Like the other apps, data for food isn’t 100% accurate but it’s good enough. Also like other apps, with premium you can see grams of protein, carbs, etc; but if you want to see vitamins and minerals you’re out of luck. This is the cleanest, most elegant of the tracking apps out there m. I appreciate it. The diet plans are ok, but the protein amounts are cray. My dr told me protein for me could range between 20 something and 70 g per day. I’ve tried different diet plans in this app and they all tell me I should have 30-45g of protein per meal - basically twice what my dr directed me to eat and the equivalent of 1/4-1/3lb of beef at every meal. I am not a body builder and that’s a lot of protein for me!!!! The meal ratings are a cute idea, but I never eat 45g of protein per meal so I always get messages that I’m off track. It’s a little demotivational. However this is still the best diet app out there.

I really want to give 5 stars, but.... Awesome app with two big issues: 1. Unable to manually modify or enter my macros/calories. The app is designed to automatically figure this out for you according to lifestyle, weight, and height. Which works for most people unless you are like me pregnant and/or nursing and need additional calories or simply have different fitness goals. 2. Inconsistencies in the scanning item tool. Items do not match the nutritional info in the packaging. The does app offers the option to report and create a new nutritional label and attaching it to the barcode. Which loses the purpose of the ”scan and go” idea. I am assuming this tool is relatively new and they are still working in it. So am hoping it will improve overtime. Because of these two issues, it loses a lot of its functionality in my case. Other than that, it is a great app with other great tools, eye appealing, easy to use and functional.

4 our of 5. I love this app. I believe there are many positive aspects, however it is also rigid, and balance is important. I give it a 4 out of 5 stars due to the skewed food and meal rating system that can be incorrect and skewed. There are a variety of examples to choose from, but I will go with only one for the sake of simplicity. Healthy fats are vital to healthy balanced nourishment for our bodies. I do not believe in restrictive eating and/or fad diets. When I get a 😐 for 1 TBSP of a roasted unsalted sunflower seeds, a healthy fat to meet the nutrient requirements of my body, and the reason is “calorie dense”, I feel frustrated and concern. The fact is that fats and “calorie dense” are not inherently bad or unhealthy. I know this but there are MANY men, women, and teens that do not know that. It can send the wrong message, set people up for rigidity in thinking as it relates to food and calories, and the wrong understanding of fat and calories. There should be some way to balance this out in the system.

Mixed feelings. So overall I like the app, and considered switching from MyFitnessPal, however I have a few issues. I can’t seem to create a new food that isn’t in the database and there are several foods I’ve noticed that aren’t recognized. Since I count macros, adding the calories alone is not helpful for me and my goals. I also noticed previously eaten foods aren’t recognized unless you save them as a favorite. I’ve eaten the same thing two days in a row and noticed I have to rescan certain items because entering them in the search doesn’t locate them. I will say I’ve tried to email support but never gotten a response so that’s the biggest reason I’ve opted not to switch from mfp app. The perks are the display, I love how it breaks down everything on one screen so it’s easier to see and keep track. I also enjoy all the additional features like the plans and goal options. Overall it seems to be a great app, if they would respond to issues and maybe make a few tweaks it would definitely be a better option than mfp.

It Works!!!. Before using LifeSum, I felt incredibly unhealthy, bloated, and tired all of the time. I was 5’6” and 125 pounds, which is considered to be “normal”, but I noticed that my weight was only increasing and I started to gain a lot of weight in many areas of my body. I started using this app a month ago and I weighed myself this morning at 114 pounds. Turns out, the culprit for me gaining weight and feeling so terrible all of the time was my diet! Things I thought were healthy before were actually very unhealthy. LifeSum has shown me what is healthy and what is not, and it has also prevented me from overeating - something that I did all of the time. Thank you so much LifeSum! I feel much more energetic and more in shape after using this app. I now have a flat stomach and no double chin, so this app is a true miracle. I’m not even on the premium plan, so you can still lose weight without it! I highly recommend it!

Fantastic. This might be the first time I’ve ever written an app review but this app is amazing. As long as you’re diligent with inputting the food you eat, it keeps track of everything for you. Calories, protein, carbs, fat, etc. It tailors all of it to the specific diet you choose and how much weight (if any) you want to lose, based on your height, weight, and timeframe. Beyond that, it gives you recipes, weekly ratings (in premium version, but the free version is well worth the download too) on how balanced and healthy your diet is, what you can improve on, and even gives you additional trackers for the areas you’re working on. You get fun smiley faces to denote how healthy your food choices are. All in a wonderfully designed and eye pleasing package. They even include stickers too! I’ve already lost weight and feel better and I can sleep better at night being more aware of exactly what I’m eating. Can’t recommend this app enough. It’s changing my life!

Great app for a healthy lifestyle. So I’m not one to leave reviews for apps usually. But I just had to for this app because it’s just that useful! I’ve been using it to track calories and now to follow a personalised meal plan after purchasing the paid version. I will say the free version is pretty useful by itself, but the the paid version really gives you lots of options, such as recipes, meal plans (even a shopping list to buy everything in advance), nutrient distribution (and more detailed nutrient intake), etc. I especially love the LifeScore, which scores your lifestyle basically…it’ll literally take into account alcohol, red meat, processed food, and other things to give you a personalised score and tell you what to improve on. Soooo useful! And I can say I definitely improved my LifeScore since using the paid version…went from an 84 to 96! Thanks for such an amazing app!

Beautiful app but lots of problems.. PROS: beautiful layout, visually pleasing, able to choose meal plans, track intermittent fasting within app, easy to locate information, good tips, food and day ratings. CONS: Fitbit syncing leaves something to be desired, calorie transfer from Fitbit looks inaccurate, unable to type custom serving labels (i.e. slices of pizza) which makes it nearly impossible to tell what a serving actually is or track it accurately, unable to choose custom water bottle sizes and sizes available aren’t standard 8, 16, etc., can’t add more than one snack time, developers don’t seem concerned with user feedback or to improve app. ***There are not enough pros to outweigh the cons. It can be as pretty as you like but if it doesn’t function like users need it to or be up to snuff with competitors then eventually people are going to stop using. If I am paying for an app, I expect it to be better than a free app but it just isn’t. Unless there are drastic improvements, I will not be continuing a subscription. Really unfortunate that you can’t get a refund because I’m actually going to stop using it ASAP.

New review. After using the app longer, some of the bugginess hasn’t been happening as often. The app does have a veggie tracker, which I didn’t think it had, it just didn’t come up until it told me my vegetable intake was imbalanced. Honestly this has been the easiest app to use. The only issue now is the data base of foods. It does have a lot of repeated foods which makes it hard to find the correct one and a lot of foods without all of the information and when you try to add the information sometimes it doesn’t want to save or tells you it’s wrong. Also without being able to add sugar, added sugar or sugar alcohols separately it’s difficult to add keto foods not in the database because it doesn’t thing the calories are correct. Other than that I do love the app and I have lost 12lbs in the past month from the help of this app along with other life changes.

Useless unless you pay. I’ll be honest. The original reason I downloaded this app what is to integrate it with the Walgreens app in order to earn bonus points at that store. Once I open the app, I found it useless. I took all kinds of quizzes which were to determine my eating habits and to suggest diets. I can’t imagine why eating vegetables watch a week or fruits just three times a week would indicate a balanced diet. Then it offered to give me suggestions. After every quiz, in order to get the answers or suggestions or meal plans or diet suggestions I was directed to sign up to get the paid version. This app is a complete rip off. I don’t have to take the time to go onto my phone just to keep track of how many glasses of water I drink! I have chronic kidney disease and was looking for a few other suggestions. Since I have to pay for everything here, I’ll stick to the FREE Davita app. It’s easy to set your calorie goals (along with protein and other nutritional content). You don’t have to have CKD to use Davita, either. Their food database is enormous. Lifesum (free) is useless in conjunction with the Walgreens app.

I don’t even need to eat healthy because i’m still in a calorie deficit and i’m seeing results. thank you

Review and Comparison. I’ve compared this to other top food logging and calorie counter apps over the last three weeks and believe this one to have the best interface and work best with my needs and goals. It works to keep me accountable and mindful of my choices without restricting anything. I like that it connects to my Apple devices and adjusts my available calories based on exercise (the more I exercise, the more I can’t eat)! That feature has been very helpful. The scan tool works mostly well but there have been several items not yet in their database. There is an option to help grow that if you take the time to enter in all the nutritional info on a package. The most difficult thing with this (and all the food logging apps) is entering in homemade food, e.g. the chicken noodle soup I made last Sunday... other than that, I give it 5 stars and will continue to use it. It’s already had an impact on my lifestyle (and I’ve lost several pounds)!

Weird weight data problem. Really enjoying this app so far! I’ve been using it to track daily calories and create healthier habits for about three weeks now, it’s been great. I decided to start tracking my weight with the app as well, and turned on the whole “import data from apple health” feature. However, in apple health I have one erroneous entry from a year ago that is messing with my Lifesum. I’ve deleted the entry from apple health, but Lifesum won’t delete the entry. I tried to delete it manually, but the permanent weight deletion feature just deleted the most recent weight entry, rather than the one I’ve selected. I would love to see this fixed! Overall, great app and I’m definitely going to invest in premium for myself. Very visually appealing, more positive than other diet tracking apps I’ve tried, and I love the actual Lifesume feature that tells me how balanced my food choices are.

Frustrating and hard to navigate. I decided to give this app a try because I specifically wanted something that would curate shopping list for me so that I could follow and stick to a meal plan, which was something that a lot of other apps can do really well. So I download this app and sign up for premium membership and the first thing was that it was really difficult to figure out where the shopping list was. Turns out. It is the shopping cart icon on the top left of the meal planner, but there was no tutorial or anything explaining what it was so it took me a minute. Then the app completely bugged out and removed my meal plan from the app so that when I clicked programs I only saw what other programs were available not the meals that I had in my plan. This was after I had bought $120 worth of groceriesto do a specific meal plan that I selected and that was all lost so I had to completely restart the plan and re-remember which specific meals I selected for three days to be able to use the items that I had bought.

Wonderful, except for one thing. I’ve had this app for about a week. It’s awesome. It totally blows MyFitnessPal out of the water. I love that it doesn’t ask me a million times to sync my social media - I like my privacy! Lots of pros to this app, easy to learn layout, very beautiful design, lots of options for foods. My biggest negative, and the one that makes me pull a star off, is the fact that I can’t seem to customize my water bottle size for my H2O tracker. My water bottle (in real life!) is 32oz. You can choose between A) an 8oz glass or B) a 16oz bottle. This is probably the only fitness/food diary app that I have seen WITHOUT a water bottle customization. I shouldn’t have to multiply and add how many bottles of water I’ve consumed.. I’m no good at math, which is exactly why I don’t just count my own calories.. and that’s why I downloaded the app! Seriously, the water bottle thing is the only thing preventing me from giving a 5 star review AND purchasing a year long subscription. (New year, new me, amirite?)

In Love. I don’t write reviews often and I hate playing the comparison game but LifeSum truly has exceeded my expectations. I used to use MFP until they locked the barcode scanning feature (which used to be free) behind a subscription wall. I switched over here to lifesum and was pleasantly welcomed by a beautiful UI, easy to use daily interface and it’s tracks all the important thing I personally needed. I also love that my macros are right there at the top and they don’t lock the barcode feature! Id gladly pay for the premium version of this app because I can tell they care about getting you the important information you need without locking key features behind pay walls, the paid is a nice add in bonus to help you even more if needed and that goes along way for me. I use the barcode scanning for EVERY item every day because it’s just faster and more efficient, so thank you LifeSum!

Great app, needs a few things. Out of all the apps I’ve used, I like this one the most. With premium, you have access to meal plans which truly saves me the time of having to plan each week’s meals on my own. I like that I’m able to switch out a meal for a different option that works better with my schedule. However, I wish it were possible to change the nutrition info in the apps recipes so I can track the true macros for the foods I use. For instance, the app suggests Greek yogurt with fruit/granola, etc. but I found a Greek yogurt that only has 2g of sugar which significantly changes the calories and macros for the meal. It would be nice if there were an option to do that rather than enter each individual ingredient separately into the meal (takes too much time and therefore I don’t do it. Yes, I’m lazy). Also, I wish there was an option to load progress photos into our profile so that way you can see before/during/after photos.

Great App. This app is gorgeous, the interface alone is inspiring and encourages me to track as much as I possibly can. It keeps me humble and accountable for sure. I feel so much more in control of my diet with Lifesum. I love the intermittent fasting tracker, barcode scanning, water intake tracker, and weekly life scores. The downside is definitely the price though. As much as I love the app, I’m just not sure the features I use are worth $99 per year, especially with how limited the database is for barcode-scanned food items is (in my opinion). Still not sure I’ll renew next year because of that. It’s also annoying not being able to stop a meal program without starting a new one to replace it. As a new user, it has taken time for me to figure out what plan(s) work for me, so being able to explore the options without having to commit to one or another would be nice.

Bait and Switch. The family sharing stated on the app page is misleading and I want to cancel immediately and remove the app. Once I paid for the annual subscription and then couldn’t get family sharing to work, I went to the support section which states: “Lifesum in-app purchases are, unfortunately, not eligible for Family Sharing at this time. The information shown on the App Store listing is referring to the app itself, this is a default App Store feature, and indicates that family members may also download the app from the App Store. In order to use Lifesum And Premium each single user needs to create an own account and purchase a separate subscription for it”. Seriously? Any member of my family could download the app without a family sharing subscription. I canceled the subscription. Please issue a refund immediately. Thanks for the response! This was your reply last week: “For a refund, please contact Apple directly. We do, unfortunately, not have access to their payment data. “ I did that and they granted my request.

Great app but some flaws. Hello, this is a great app and it’s helped me a lot making sure I don’t go over my 13,000 or 1,300 something like that calorie budget, this app helped me a lot with tracking what I eat and what I need to eat more of and cut back on, but the thing is, I took that test and it had this meal plan that I should have to lose weight, the only thing is that I can look what’s inside , I get the app has to make money somehow but it’s really annoying when I see some breakfast lunch or dinner food that looks good and I can see the ingredients to make it and if I want to I have to upgrade to premium witch I don’t have the money for. I’ve been struggling with weight loss a lot and I don’t get to eat much healthy food since I have so many cravings, the app can respond to this and take this information and update the app so I can view the foods and stuff so I can have a more health diet and stuff please do - E

Good for weight loss, hard for weight gain.. Overall a very good app. I like how you can add foods easily (barcode scan, from your previous data entries) and how it seems to have a wide scope of entries. However, it seems like their food ratings (good versus bad) are specifically geared towards weight loss. I am trying to gain weight by tracking my calories and they do a good job with aspects like: counting macros, accounting for various types of exercises I do, etc. One trend I am noticing is that all of the low-calorie, high volume food have the “very happy” face (signifying the best food to eat, for example celery) and the high-calorie, low volume food have the “😐” face (signifying the worst food to eat, for example a go-go applesauce). Granted, I don’t pay for their “food insight” service, but I find it hard to believe that a hot pocket is nutritionally equivalent to a fruit smoothie. It’s just my opinion, but I think it just needs a little tweak to be better for us weight-gainers. Overall a good app and worth the download. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

Why can’t you delete meals or food?. The premise of this app is great and when it starts listening to Apple health to factor in your exercises it really sets itself apart. Our issue appears to be more of a bug than a missing feature: you can’t delete any meal once you add it. We are in a Keto focus and we cook all our meals from recipes we create (we have a personal menu). When we create a meal with all of the ingredients it exists in the “Meals” section as a choice we have from now on to enter into our diary any given day we may have chosen to eat that meal. But there are meals we made years ago when we tried this app once and didn’t know much about nutrition. And we can’t delete them. A meal just consisting of black beans is in there forever cluttering the list and it can’t be deleted. The same problem occurs in anything added in the food category. It makes daily use of this app cumbersome and overtime it will become so crowded that it will be unusable

Pretty Great. It’s a good app, as far as I can tell. I have Premium, so if you’re not going to buy premium look at other reviews to see if the limited one fits your needs. It has almost every food, it’s more limited when it comes to restaurants tho. But eating in is more healthy anyways. It tracks calories protein and fat. I’m on the Classic Diet, which basically means I just want to be healthy but I’m not focused on my weight in particular, nor do I have any special dietary needs. I was previously skipping meals, bc I had been sick and lost my appetite, but it told me to never skip meals and now I have good appetite. Which unfortunately means I keep going over my calorie count😅. I do wish that it took vitamins into count, I think it does with the individual items, but not when I add it to a meal. So something could be good with vitamins, I take a daily vitamin supplement, and a dietary supplement, but only be counted for carbs. However, it definitely helps with portions of different items. If my meal is too high in fat I can just cut out a fatty part partially. I had too many fats in my breakfast so I just removed half the almond then it was perfect. Anyways, I recommend this one, it has options for gain loosing or maintaining weight. It’s really been helping me watch what I eat, and I hope I can improve more as time moves on🎉

Almost there!. I’ve loved this app for a while, I enjoy how it offers more in the free version than other apps I’ve tried. I love the heath rating system as well because it introduces a veritable some people don’t think about when they’re focused on the numbers of calorie counting. However I do think that the notification option could be improved. I saw an earlier review saying that daily weigh ins are not healthy, and I completely agree, due to minimal change day to day and fluctuating weight (if you have a cheat day, for example). I think that notifications such as reminders to drink more water would be way more beneficial, as I (and I know many others) always forget to drink enough. Also reminders to track food if you’ve forgotten to that day would be great. Besides this issue I really do love this app. I’ve noticed these reviews get replied to quite often which I really appreciate, so I’m hoping this one will get a reply as well!
