generally like this... except when i need it NOW. the breadth of data in epocrates is fabulous, and i use it on a regular basis. it is my go-to for pregnancy/breastfeeding risks, as MicroMedex essentially says "risk cannot be ruled out". that's hardly helpful - i can't rule out death by meteor impact, but the odds are pretty low. where epocrates falls down is on a few specific, but critical, areas. many times i've needed it, and am told that the app is updating clinical data. no clue how long that'll take. when i'm with a patient and need info, waiting an unclear amount of time is a problem. additionally there are times the UI becomes unresponsive. just a few minutes ago i needed to look something up on a specific insulin. i'm stuck at the news page - i can press the search bar but it won't bring up a cursor so i can't search. i could open articles but not search. repeatedly. after closing and relaunching the app and it still not working i went to another resource. the volume of data in this app is valuable to any clinician - but if i can't get to it, that data isn't helping, and when im in a room with a patient and the clock is ticking, valuable time is being lost. 3 stars.

Hospitalist/FP. I’ve used this app for years. Works great, my go to app for calculations like FENa, and finding doses and side effects of drugs. I read the negative reviews and I have no idea what they are talking about. It works great and I have found the information within accurate and updated. I no longer carry the pocket pharmacopoeia around with me like I did for 2 decades. Replaced by this app long ago.

Good but.... This app is good, and I’ve only had one complaint until today. The one complaint I’ve always had is the notifications page that automatically pops up every time I open the app. This is frustrating because there are already alerts in the app to tell you that you have new notifications (which I don’t use for anything anyway), and you have to wait for it to pop up to then have the option to close it out and get on with what you opened the app to look up. It just adds annoying extra clicks and takes extra time when you’re trying to get to something fast. The new annoyance with the app is that they are doing away with the DDx feature this month. This feature has been a constant go to for me in school for certain assignments, and our teachers even encouraged us to get the app to be able to use this feature at the beginning of our first year because it would come in so handy for some of the things they want us to do. Such a disappointment that they are suddenly getting rid of this. I turned to this app a lot over other apps because of this feature throughout school and still today, but I guess I will be rethinking my subscription to this app when I have others like it now.

Indispensable…but the “News” is not.. I love this app. Love love love it. The Highlights and Basics, Tests, DDx, and Tx tabs under the Quick Reference sections of specific diseases—along with a pharmaceutical dictionary—are indispensable. I truly feel this app makes daily clinical practice easier, smoother, and safer for patients and providers. The ONLY gripe I have about this app is that the News pops up throughout the day, prompting me to click on Headlines before I search for what I need to know, and this is on the PAID version. You are supposed to be able to search for what you need to know from this obligatory News screen. And that would be fine. If it worked. But 9/10 it doesn’t, you can’t, and the app crashes/stalls. I’ve emailed twice about this through the app and received personalized replies, but I could tell they were meaningless…and the issue still hasn’t been resolved. The app is otherwise perfect and if it were a matter of resolving this “issue”/improving the functionality of the app or risk losing the functionality currently available, I would not risk it. That’s how much I value this app.

Epocrates. I’ve used Epocrates since 2003 on my Palm Pilot and it has come a long way since then! I can always find the information I’m looking for, be it medications, lab tests, drug interactions etc. The articles on the variety of health issues are helpful and informative. Although I’m a retired NP now, I still keep up with the latest medical information and Epocrates definitely helps to do that.

Best app for my medical practice. I am a practicing pediatrician. I have been using Epocrates for over 20 years. It is the by far the most useful application for me that I have. I use it daily for Pediatric dosings and indications. It is speedy and easy to navigate. I also appreciate many of the sub features. For example, I have been able to use the pill identifier program to help families discover the identity of an extra pill in their pill dispense box.

Slow!!!. I used to be able to quickly review data and even pricing estimates. Not sure what happened but now the app takes on average 10-20 seconds to load, and pricing seems to be consistently unavailable. No, it’s not the phone as all other apps load promptly. Also, when it finally does load it then jumps into the notifications screen then takes another 10-20 seconds to return to the main program. Meanwhile, the Medscape app which I now use much more loads in 3-5 seconds. If you’re reading this a word to the wise, if the paid version of this app is as slow and cumbersome as the free version consider using another app.

Overdue Review. I have been using this app ever since it was first launched. It was recommended by a good friend when we were discussing a good app to use at work. After using it, I got hooked. I even recommended it to my colleagues to use it and they did. It’s interface is easy to use. Looking for medicines in its brand form or generic form is easy. There are healthcare insurance information as well as news and studies of relevant medicines, new discoveries, current treatment, research and diseases. It has a free and paid version. I’m a RN and I can vouch for this app’s practicality at work.

No longer supports any v. older than iOS 13. I use(d) Epocrates many times per day until the latest update. I can no longer use it unless I buy a new iPhone that supports iOS 13. My current iPhone still works great, and I don’t mind using an older version of Epocrates, but when I get the pop up message stating it requires iOS 13, or choose to download an older version, it does not allow download of an older version. The app I had already been using is no longer functional, and forced me to update. This is very disappointing. I will be using another prescribing guide going forward.

Beware falsification of credentials hack. Several years ago I registered with this company and noticed my credentials were wrong raising questions by my employers. Epocrates blamed it on the AMA. The AMA had my correct credentials. Not sure what game they are playing so I closed my account. Recently I stupidly registered with them again to try this app again, and their site could not recognize my credentials. I then noticed on Google that my credentials were changed by numerous web sites to incorrect listings again. Clearly these “ratings” sites are in cahoots ( buying or sharing)with epocrates being given or creating false credentials by epocrates and then putting them on Google search indicating a person is not a physician. Epocrates is either deliberately falsifying credentials or unable to correct their incorrect information. I just signed up with them after years of complaints and within weeks my false information reappeared on Google. Think Facebook is bad, beware of your information if you voluntarily provide this company your credentials. I contacted them to erase my credentials and was told their would be no definite time frame and I should my lawyers contact their lawyers. Beware what to whom they are selling your info and if it is at all correct. May require a class action lawsuit for them to take this seriously.

Great Tool!. I am a practicing Family Practitioner who works in an urgent care setting where over 63 different languages maybe spoken by our patients and patients are often new to our country. I have found Epocrates to be an invaluable tool for treatments, recommendations for treatment for diseases that are rarely seen in our country and for day to day usage for pregnant and lactating women to check on safety. The interaction tool is also extremely useful to help explain to patients how one medication may interact with their other, sometimes long list.

I first had this on my Palm Pilot@!. 1) it is Free! But it is an excellent resource. I use it in my work, case management for individuals with serious mental illnesses and long hx’s of numerous medications. The ability to get a quick picture of med interactions helps in advising clients in looking at choices. I also use it in my personal life—it also has the Oregon Health plan formulary—an extra plus!! I highly recommend it (and often do, with work peers and other service providers. Did I say that there is a free version?

Great App. I’m a pharmacist and I’ve been using Epocrates for years. I first started because it was free. It was and I believe, still is,the best app for drug information available for free. While I was practicing I upgraded for a while but now I’m retired and the free version is fine although if I had the money I would definitely upgrade to at least have the information on OTC meds! Thanks Epocrates

Great app, could use dosing for kids. It’s the app I use at work. It has everything I need to know in one easy app. Just wish they had help with dosing for kids. I see adults and very rarely do I see kids. So it would be great epocrates if you can add that. Plug in the kids weight in kg and their age, and have it calculate the dosage of the antibiotic or whatever Med you need. It allows me to double check what my calculation is and it also saves time. Otherwise thanks for the app. It’s the best out there in my opinion.

Epocrates. I have used this app (Epocrates) for over 10 years both as a medical student and a doctor. I have used both regular version and currently the professional version in my daily practice. The App has stood the test of time. The updates are quick and always current. References to new drugs, therapies and modalities of patient care are will supported.

More configurable?. The only ding I give the app is that the default opening screen is news/quizzes and I need for it to default to either the Home Screen or a feature of my choosing. I’d also like to be able to mass-delete/clear the news/quizzes instead of being forced to delete them iteratively. Other than that I love the app (or I wouldn’t pay more for it on a monthly basis than I pay for anything else)

Great app but too expensive. I am a retired Physician Assistant and when I was in practice Epocrates was the go to app for me. Back then the cost didn’t bother me but when I had to retire due to illness I no longer could afford to buy the full version. I really do miss being able to look up diagnoses and labs among other things. Since I was in practice for 24 years I paid for Epocrates every year or two years for all the years of my practice. There should be a really reduced fee for those of us who paid for this app for so many years.

CNP. I just signed into the free 14 day trial prior to paying the annual fee and was expecting access to the CME’s. I am able to answer the pretest but the video does not show up and it goes directly to the post test. The video is locked and I am not sure why. I am unable to find any contact information to send Questions to epocrates. Help!

Good App. I love this App for the Interaction Check, but my only complaint is there are very few Vitamins Listed and Herbal supplements, so I’m unable to check their interactions with prescribed meds. I’m an RN who sees that more and more patients are taking OTC supplements. PLEASE add these to you medication lists and this would be 5 stars. Example, Tumeric is very popular now, and it can thin your blood. People need to know this who take other anticoagulants or anti-platelet medications. I’m sure there are way more supplements that can cause specific reactions with prescribed medications and other supplements.

Indispensable. I downloaded this app at the beginning. As a, now retired, paramedic just outside of DC, I can’t tell you how many times this app has saved an emergency call and probably some lives. Whether it was looking up a medication I was unfamiliar with or being able to reassure a patient that they were experiencing a normal side effect, this app saved a lot of time and energy when presented with something new. Heck, just knowing a side effect and what might present in an overdose was indispensable. The quizzes were also helpful as it confirmed or expanded my knowledge. I still use it.

Psychiatrist Social Work. I use this app when PT may not know the medications my consulting Psychiatrist prescribed. Additionally, to advise them to call the prescriber if they have questions or c/o side effects. Furthermore they may have not told the Psychiatrist all the medications they are taking and your app notes “possible interaction”-again I ask them to call or I sent him an email. Personally, after a rear end collision while I was at a dead stop-the Neurologist I consulted for post concussion syndrome prescribed me a meditation and I told him it interacted with another meditation I was on. He argued with me until I had him look it up and I used your app to confirm my guess. He decided not to prescribe it.

Greedy bunch. As a mostly retired but still licensed physician, I used Epocrates regularly to double check drug side effects and dosage, especially with new drugs. I also relied on several modules to confirm symptoms and to seek best courses of diagnosis. Suddenly, without any warning, my full subscription that I normally paid two years in advance became a lower tier were I lost many aspects I had already paid for. Now the want an upgrade, it is not that much, but it is the principle. I paid for a full subscription, and I should continue to receive what I paid for until my next subscription date. Anything else is a violation of the contract I entered into when I bought the subscription.

Most Used App. There are no other medical apps that I use as consistently as I do Epocrates. I am an actively practicing intensivists and often wonder how I did my job years ago with a PDR. Would not trade it for the world. There are not many things about the app that I bother me, although I wish more insurance companies would make their formulary available. All in all, my life is better for it.

Freezes. When the App works, it’s great. I like that it’s easy to find information without having to read for 5 minutes. However, I find after I have searched something then come back to search something else, the app freezes and I can’t get to the “search” tab. The only thing that will open is the “notes”. I am a paid user. It is frustrating to have spent money on this and not be able to use it as intended. I have asked other users, that didn’t pay, and they said they don’t have that issue. Please fix the hang-up in the app. Paid users should be a priority.

Useful and free and fast. My only complaint is it should have meds not available in the United States grayed out or ones that are no longer available. It wastes time picking the right med sometimes. Otherwise the ADR and SE are clearly listed and the drug drug interaction check is easy to use and fairly complete most of the time. I don’t know if a more useful free app on the iPhone that does everything it does. I would recommend it for everyone who wants or needs to be better informed.

Great tool. I was reluctant to use the app at first because I was in emergency mode and felt I had to get through the ads first. Not something I wanted to do when I’m trying to save my patients. Then 1 off day I took time to really get to know the app. They’re not ads at all, but quizzes or rabbit holes for educational purposes. I do wish they would not put it firsthand but….. Great resources and kept updated with the latest information.

Loads of free info. As a pharmacist, I use the free info all the time. I even recommend some parts to non-clinical friends. The dosing recommendations, interactions, adverse reactions, pill identification, pregnancy and lactation ratings, pharmacology are all very helpful and easy to access. Only thing I would change is the notifications that pop up when it opens about different articles. I would rather go to that tab myself when I’m ready. I would be more likely to read the articles that way. As it is I just delete them to remove the pop up.

Great app but!. I am a resident physician and I rely on Epocrates heavily for my daily duties. I am already a paid user, and I was ok with that because of how useful the app is so I didn’t mind. It always bothered me that the first screen is always the newsfeed. I would like to be able to access whatever section I want without so many taps on the screen. But to add insult to injury, And what I do mind, is the introduction of “new mandatory ads” of certain “app sponsors” that pop up when I first open the app. As if what I am already paying as a user is not enough, and in order for the “new ads” to go away, I have to pay more. I would prefer the developers increasing the general subscription fee rather than introducing the ridiculous ads that pop up in the welcome screen or even introducing the higher category subscription. It is just so counterproductive and it takes an awful lot of time to get to what I want now with so many taps. More and more I am opting to use different apps like lexicomp, for which my institution offers a free of charge subscription, minus all the ads of course.

Outstanding APP. I’m a chain pharmacist. I work alone 8PM to 8AM. I value Epocrates for: ICD-10 codes, to verify the treatment options prescriber when patients are questioning their prescriber’s decision, over-the-counter suggestions in addition to the prescriber’s prescription, treatment options for unusual issues patient call about in the middle of the night, Identifying pills (this is worth the cost of the app), Verifying alternative medications when an insurance claims “the medication is not on the patient’s formulary,” Etc. I suggest free Epocrates to many other prescriber’ s even we’ll established long timers because it is so valued, current, available on many platforms, free, and not expensive when someone decides to purchase it. You get my support and thank you!

Broken functionality. Latest version of the app broke the functionality. I can no longer create or view favorites wry the app. My device setting are the same. The only thing that changed is the version of the app. Support is blaming the victim and gaslighting me into trying to debug their product, when the product has changed and broken functionality that worked previously. I guess I'm glad I was trying out the free version of the product before paying for it: I guess I'll go back to other products instead. Needless to say I'm very disappointed in their product and support. Blaming the user for engineering errors is bad form.

Got to have. This app is a great tool to have. I ended up buying a subscription during my first few months of 3rd year medical school and I use it every day. It has great info and is pretty easy to use and find what you are looking for. I agree with the previous reviews for opening up the app loads notifications before selecting the home icon is kinda annoying but it’s not a huge deal for me. I can’t speak highly enough about this app and I see doctors who have been practicing using this app to look up some things too.

Have relied on Epocrates for 20 years. I have been a psychiatric NP for almost 18 years. I have used other apps at times but have always had Epocrates to back me up. I like the knowledge build that I have seen. I pay for this app happily. It is always there for me even when my patients think they are Einstein but they are wrong. It gives me the gumption to just them what is what. The app and content evolve but not so quickly that it doesn’t make sense to me. I consider Epocrates to be the best out there for clarity and ease of use. I am grateful for the COVID-19 information because there is the danger of the public falling into panic and mass hysteria which I don’t want to contribute to.

Keep paying for zero access. I get Epocrates plus access through my institution, but after repeated frustrations trying to log in through the library, I caved and bought a subscription for myself thinking that would improve the apps recognition of my credentials. Wrong! My monthly subscription credentials never materialized. After trying to log in on every email I could think of all summer long, I bought a new subscription thinking maybe I was nuts. Nope, still zero access. Have poured nearly $300 (come on, that’s a lot for a grad student) into this resource and am no better off than I was going for free through my library. Come on, Epocrates. I’m trying to use you over your competitors and you’re not making it easy!!

A necessity with multiple medications. When you have life altering or life-threatening diseases or disorders, you need to check for interactions against your many medication‘s. With one of my diseases, doctors always recommend their patient contact their specialty pharmacy before taking anything over-the-counter or prescribed. I have always found that the Epocrates appAnd my specialty pharmacist agree on interactions or if there is a medication or test I should not take because of dangerous directions or physical reactions. I would be lost without this app and my specialty pharmacist.

Long time user - resent problems. I have used this app for years, first when it was on a Palm Pilot. It has always been so useful. However in the last year it is less responsive, I can’t get the cursor to appear at the search line. I have to keep restarting it. The news keeps popping up when I’m in a hurry (during patient care). Loved you guys for years, please don’t let me down.

New version. The drug interaction portion of the revised app is not nearly as good as the previous version. Why when changes are made do they generally give less information and make the use more complicated. The previous version was much more user friendly imo. Other less interactive sections are pretty much ok. Reviews of the app should be in reverse order of date written rather than heavy with 3-4 yo reviews coming up first. Most reviews are not arranged in such order.

Totally useless to professionals!. I try to refrain from leaving negative reviews but this is the second time I've been left "stuck" without an answer to a question relying on Epocrates' mobile app. I am a paying customer and I feel that the same quality that goes into your online version should be integrated into your useless mobile app. As a pharmacist I sometimes have questions about dosage forms, medication strengths, formulation types, etc etc. Case in point, today I needed to quickly determine which form of olopatidine is designed for once daily dosing v. twice daily dosing. Simple stuff. I type in Pataday. The mobile app shows "Pataday". I click on it just to be fed to a blank page that says "now OTC"!? Great, where's the other information. So I search generic name where it has so truncated the information that you can't really use it as needed. For example, it lists generic name then both strengths of olopatidine but doesn't differentiate which correlates to the brand, and in this case, drug strength you're looking for. It may sound trivial but this happens often using their mobile site. And don't get me started on finding pK info and any meaningful pregnancy and lactation information on the web app. I really think that for paying users you should create a web version of the online Epocrates platform. I found that very useful in pharmacy school, on rotations, etc. I need that as a mobile friendly version!

Using for years. In ten years I can count the number of times I have left an app review on the App Store on one hand. I’ve used this app since I was a medical student on clinical rotations about 10 years ago. I’ve loved to see it progress and improve over this time. It’s my go to resource when looking up diagnosis and treatments. However I have a few issues, like other folks have said here when opening the app taking you straight to the notifications, I’d rather just go to the Home Screen. I know a search bar is present but I’d prefer to get to the Home Screen. Or better yet directly into the search bar with the keyboard open so I can just start typing for my query. I also would like a running list of all my searches that I can scroll down if I know I’ve recently searched for an item so I can select it rather than type it out. As it stands now the search list is rather short and disappears after awhile. Additionally I would love to see support for dark mode / true black. Theme switching has been a part of iOS for the last 1-2 years now and many apps that are on a shoestring budget can implement dark mode but I’m not sure why Epocrates can’t or wont. Despite these misgivings I plan on continuing to use Epocrates as long as I still practice clinical medicine.

Good information, poor execution. Long time user and subscriber since it became a paid service. Every year I lose access to the paid features and after a few months it is resolved and I just lose a few months of use. Frustrating for the cost to have poor service. Customer service approach has been new representative with each email, each response asks for same or similar information. At some point someone agrees that paid and should get service and fixes it, without explanation or resolution of possible future recurrence. No real feeling of making things right or understanding the problem. Zero stars for update execution and renewal other than their ability to accept my payment. App is good.

I love this app!. As a 27 year Firefighter/Paramedic I long ago downloaded (for work) EPOCRATES. I’ve used it to check random, unmarked patient pill ID’s, and issues with mixed medications they have. It’s a great way to check if you or your loved one could have issues with various different medications interfering with each other, or if you find a random pill in an unmarked container. I thought I’d share.

Great clinical tool. I recently purchased Epocrates for my adult gerontology management class for NP school (as we were advised to do). At first I was hesitant due to the price of the this product. However, I’m glad I did! This tool is an absolutely amazing reference to use for my didactic program. It is quick and functional in the clinical setting while easy to access and reference for coursework. Could not imagine not using this tool!

Perfect, except..... The app would be perfect if that news feed did not open every time I open the app. Sometimes, I am in a rush because I’m juggling patients. There should be a way to change that in the settings. We receive plenty of journals and newsfeeds from other sources. App developer please listen, we don’t purchase your app for newsfeeds. Aside from that one issue, this app is a great utility for the med student, resident or seasoned physician. I highly highly recommend it to all of my colleagues

Fnp-Internal med. The full purchased version: I use this daily for quick answers on antibiotic recs and durations. Also if I want the quick and dirty update about a disease or illness I like the summaries available with supportive care or discussion of work up needed. This great if in a rush between patients or even with a patient of needing to look up drug side effects they may be experiencing. Vital to look up drug interactions. Of course not as in depth as up to date, but most of the time has the simple answer you need.

Becoming something I used to use.. I’ve been using epocrates since the beginning when it was a 320kb file on palm pilot. Unfortunately, it’s become so bloated I rarely use it anymore. In recent years, the devs have added, what amounts to, nag-screens. Frequently, launching the app now requires you to get past screens of CME offerings, announcements or other annoyances. Nothing should insert itself between you and the info you’re looking for the moment you’re looking for it. All other info-nag should be under its own tab to be viewed when convenient. Otherwise it’s a bug…not a feature.

Severe downgrade in utility. I have been using this product for over 10 years at this point. When it first came out it was absolutely the best resource available for drug database. Later they greatly expanded the apps scope to be a pocket resource and still meaningfully improved product. For the last few years though, the product worsened with bloat and poor responsiveness (even on current hardware). I responded by dropping subscription and relying on just free version for drug database resources. However the current product has so much bloat (unwanted adds, sponsored articles you cannot disable, use bandwidth, and slow whole app)that it is almost unusable. Really disappointed to see a once great product become so poorly functional. I no longer recommend to students or residents that train with us.

Love Epocrates App. Epocrates is my go to App because it is clear and concise and to the point and I can find what I need quickly. I also have another App that is very thorough and shows you studies etc... but personally when I’m taking care of patients I don’t have time to read a study- I need clear, simple and quick answers and that is what Epocrates offers. I’ve used it since NP school and haven’t found anything else that I like better. I’ve worked in the primary care/urgent care setting. The only thing that I would want that Epocrates doesn’t offer (I don’t believe) is A little more info on IV drugs for instance “this should be a slow push over 2 minutes”... obviously we don’t do that in an outpatient setting but when I worked in the hospital those extra tips would have been helpful- I would feel like Epocrates truly had it all of they added that!

Absolutely love Epocrates. Epocrates was recommended when I began Nursing School 11 years ago. It’s been my go-to since then in checking medications for everyone. I saved my friend’s life 3 times when I found out medications contraindicated with other medications - thanks to Epocrates my friend was able to change medications and doctors. I love the visual quizzes and the latest information on emerging diseases. The information on COVID19 has been particularly helpful and relevant. I can’t give you enough stars. Thanks for being there.

Freezing and crashing. For the last month or so, maybe the last update, about 50% of the time the app freezes or crashes, requiring me to quit the app and restart it. This essentially removes the ability for this app to work as a point of care tool. I am paying for a subscription to this. Making sure the application works is a baseline expectation. I am going to delete the app and reinstall and hopefully that will make life better, but I’m really not happy with how this app has changed in the last 2 years. Increasingly complicated menus and listings and it’s harder and harder to find what I want.

Average but useful depending on the need.. I have been using epocrates for over 15 years. This is a wonderful tool for medication management and pharmacology. For basic labs the plus level is very useful to come to a differential. The calculators are easy to use. The cons are the app takes long to load. The original was far quicker and more user Friendly. They have an unnecessary splash page which delays care. If you need specialized labs this app may not have details on it

Most important app you will ever use. Having been in clinical medicine in the role of internist for 25+ years, I used this app on a daily basis. I found it most helpful to keep current with the new meds even before I was able to be detailed by the company reps. Once when I was hospitalized, I was able to do "mini " rounds with the nurse caring for me that day. She downloaded the app and informed several of her colleagues of the usefulness of the app. She found the section on pill identification the most beneficial section of the app.

20 year electronic user kicked out. I have been using a properties since it was a PalmPilot application and I have always been grandfathered in and been allowed to look at the information for drugs and now that you have updated the system and which caused crashing and then told me to uninstall and reinstall now I can’t see any of the drug invert information without paying you I guess I am done with us app and the company that owns it

Allow access to international users. Epocrates was great when I used to use it, until probably Athena decided to pull down app access to international users. International users have been relegated to use the browser version, which is not quite the same as the app. The browser user experience is just different when compared to the app environment. Allow international uses to access and interact with Epocrates via the app please!

Obnoxious design. This app would be great to look up drugs, except every single time I open it, this stupid notifications screen pops up with stories that I don’t care about, and I have to wait 10 seconds before I can actually use the app. As a medical professional on the go, I don’t have time to wait forever to look at your ads every time I use a reference app. I recommend using an alternative. In fact, it is literally faster to get drug names using iPhones Safari web browser. Worthless.

Long time customer. I have used Epocrates throughout medschool, the residency, and now private practice for the last seven years. I have decided the app, glitches, and price are just not worth the price when better options are available. Epocrates has out-priced it consumer base with providing increased resources to justly the increased cost. Also unable to use any discount codes to offset some of the price increases. I’m moving on to alternative and maybeEpocrates can improve going forward.

Simple Fast Easy to Use 💯. You will enjoy this if you appreciate information that is easy to find and very practical. Epocrates has had this down pat for years and Apple made it even better. All winners on this platform. I stay up to date simply because of this app. 👨🏻‍💻

Worsens with age. I’ve been using Epocrates since medical school. It used to be a useful, quick reference. Nowadays, I find I’m always having to click out of the newsfeed or the app is freezing to the point of uselessness at least a few times per week. When it works well, it’s still an excellent resource, but I find myself utilizing Up-to-Date and AAFP resources more and more.

Great value!. I have been using this app for about 4 years now, and have always been grateful about it. I love it mostly because it’s straight to the point, and very accurate, with up to date notifications. I have never been disappointed using this app. Greatest value!!!

Drip calculation. The app is great and helpful all around. The one note I would make is under the IV drip calculator is to add a portion to calculate fluid bolus over a time period. Being able to choose the type of tubing we are using. And giving the “answer” units in gtts/hr, min, and sec. Otherwise great work. Thank you for a great product.

Epocrates App Was So Much Better with Differential Diagnosis Integrated into the App.. How disappointed I was after purchasing the full version to find the Differential Tab was missing and discovered after a phone call they are no longer offering this function. That is what made this App stand out to me. Please, Epocrates, bring back this important function!

Great App, Poor support. This would be 5 stars if their support was more than pathetic. This is a must have app for anyone in healthcare. But forget about contacting support for anything. They just seem to always respond with templates/form letters and then inform you that they’re closing the ticket without actually doing anything.

Epocrates. Epocrates is an excellent app but the only down side is that it doesn’t let us choose the language of the app meaning that it takes time to translate everything. It would be super nice if they had multiple languages to choose from like Spanish and Portuguese.

Epocrates an invaluable app. I have faithfully subscribed to Epocrates for almost 13 years. It has served me well. Information is at my finger tips. It is always current. Most importantly concise. I have referred many colleagues to Epocrates and have never heard anything but praise. Best part is it is only pennies a day. Cannot day enough! Thank you Epocrates.

Epocrates is great for any medication concern. As above Epocrates has all my answers is easy to understand explanations with a more medical answer if I want it. The app is very intuitive and easy to navigate. I have been using it Persians professionally for years..

Medical news out-of-order. Since April 17th, the medical news articles are out of chronological order. The most recent articles used to be listed first, but now the first article is 5 days old, followed by older articles, but then articles from the past 24 hours appear.

Updated the app and now it won’t load. I updated the app that included “bug fixes,” but since the app crashes before any content will load. Thought maybe it was because my iOS was out of date, updated that specifically for epocrates and it still won’t load. Please please please fix this! Prior to this update the app functioned well.

Major issues, No resolution from Support. Everything is up to date on my iOS devices and the app yet it has continued to freeze daily upon opening. The only way to resolve the issue is to delete the app, lose all of your favorites, and reinstall. Force quit, restarting the phone or iPad do not fix the problem. It’s a hefty price tag to pay for the complete app and have it fail repeatedly. Support has no guidance, other that to say the issue is being looked into. Please resolve the issue soon, the app is worthless at this point.

AGACNP-BC. I have used Epocrates for several years now and have found it to be a very useful resource in my clinical practice. There is one feature, however, that was recently taken away and that was the differential diagnosis. That was one feature Epocrates had that was different from the rest. I now find myself using UpToDate more and it is provided free by my employer. When my subscription is up for renewal, I can’t guarantee I will be renewing again this year.

Excellent contents, but freezes quite often. Impeccable content, on disputable, however it freezes up every time you open up the application and you try to use it in the first 15 seconds. When you open the application, count to 15 and then start using it. That’s why I gave it four stars.

USING IT FOR CLOSE TO 20+ YEARS. I was able to use in a “Palm Pilot” Yep that far back!😀 I am a Psychiatrist and the “interaction” feature is brilliant. Also, because of its ease of use, I review meds. frequently, resulting in a refresher course on both the newer and the oldest medications!

Helpful. I use this app from time to time to look up medications I’m not familiar with for patients. I’m a therapist so I run into different medications at times and find it helpful to look them up. It is a quick source. However, it could use some adjustments to the look to make it easier to look up drugs.

Glitch. I love the app. It’s amazing when it works. I pay $18 something monthly and every shift multiple times it says I am not a epocrates plus user. I click restore purchase and suddenly it works again. Then it’ll go back. I’ve reached out to customer support they say “I don’t see a subscription” yet my Apple account clearly shows the money is being took out. Very frustrating.

Great app, user friendly. Bring back DDX!. FM here. Love Epocrates! This is a great app-I use it nearly daily to check medications, med interactions/SEs, pill pictures, etc. I also check the news feed quite regularly which is very helpful to stay up-to-date. And it’s user friendly. I wish they would bring the differential diagnosis tab back!

Used to be 5-star. Recent updates have removed the CPT search function. This was very convenient when it was supported by Athena. The customer service says that they eliminated this due to EHR filling this need however the procedure coding function built within the Athena EHR is so bad that I was forced to use the premium Epocrates to look up codes. Now I’m relying on web searches or confronted with purchasing a separate coding app.

NP on the go. This is my favorite prescribing app. I've been using the app for about 10 years & each improvement/update has 'fixed' any real problems I've encountered. Like anything, ease of navigation comes with frequency of use so even though the opening screen update originally bothered me, now I just swipe down after I've scanned/read topics of interest to me.

Great Resource for Mental Health Clinicians. A professor recommended this app as a resource to use in order to better understand clients’ meds. Over the years, I have used this app for myself, and it has saved me from accepting “Black-Box” meds prescribed to me.

Favorites. I used the favorites feature during my clinical rotation to save the most used meds. When I switch my phone and downloaded the app everything in favorites disappeared. I had over 60 frequently used meds. I wish there were a way to save your favorites and access them from any device with your user name and password.

iPad wish. I love Epocrates, and have been using it daily at work for years. Now that I have an iPad, I only wish there was an iPad version that used smaller print and thus could fit more on the screen at once. It's a great program! Update: love the iPad version. Use it daily!

Fast, accurate information. I use this app daily. Especially like the pill pictures, because patients will tell me "I'm on that round yellow blood pressure medication" or I can call up a picture to help them identify a medication that I would like to change.

Current and easy to use resource.. This is a great tool to keep in my pocket as I see patients. The information is current, and the app is easy to use. Very helpful in answering questions that may be related to a specific medication or to review drug interactions.

What a great tool.. Without this app I would be lost. It helps so much in my pharmacy work. I can see side effects, drug interactions, and if a drug is recommended in pregnancy or in lactation. It gets right to the point and is a life saver. Thank you guys for being there to help us.

Invaluable!. I have used Epocrates since it was ePocrates, at its inception many years ago, on my flip phone. It is one of my most valuable and efficient medical references. I once recommended it for the entire U.S. Navy Medical Corps. It is a must-have for busy clinicians. (Of course I still miss my old 10-pound PDR.) Fred Jackson CAPT, MC, USN (Ret)

Mandatory. A must have for clinicians, has a great peds dosing calculator that makes it fast and simple. No more converting pounds to kilograms, type in pounds and the strength you want to use and boom: you have your amoxicillin dose. Tells you what the drug is for, what dose you should use and how to write the prescription. Can’t make it any easier.

Needs dictionary of their abbreviations. Needs a dictionary and search box for ALL the abbreviations Epocrates use in the Interaction Check and on the Picture quiz. If they provide that I’ll give them 4 starts. 5 starts if they go back to the old epocrates where you were able to see all the immediate interactions for ALL of the drug’s you are taking right away.

Extremely helpful. Cannot count times this has helped me check on med interactions. Directed patients to view it with me on Screen and directed them to further discuss things with their prescriber-very valuable tool! Thank you.

WeNeed2Know. This is an excellent App to inform you of any drug you or family needs to take. All drugs even OTC drugs have side effects and contraindications. This App is a professional constantly updated content that is helpful to keep patients and loved ones safe from adverse reactions that are known. I’ve used it for more than 6 yrs and am super happy to have it.

Great resource at the bedside. I frequently turn to Epocrates for drug interactions - it is quite helpful. It is also helpful for quickly reviewing medications I am not familiar with. The other portions -Guidelines, ICD-10 and Disease References are also quite helpful on the fly. It is my go to reference in the room with patients.

Epocrates. Every practitioner needs this app. I always use this app at the point of care with all of my patients. I have been in active practice for 40 years and have used this app when it was first introduced. It only gets better.

GREAT. This app has been wonderful for me. Any practitioner, regardless of the specialty, is called ball to no drugs used for other physicians. This is a very quick reference to give a beginners knowledge of the costs, the pharmacology, the dosing, and other aspects of a medication. Sometimes I could use a bit more detail in the pharmacology section.

Always Reliable. Thank you Epocrates. This is the only program I have used for more than 15 years now. It’s always quick and accurate. You’ve saved me a LOT of time and given me continuous confidence. Sorry it took so long to write a review.

Excellent App. Great app with easy efficient access to medication information. Interaction checker very effective. Just a wealth of extremely helpful information. Using Epocrates on a daily basis. Well worth having with a very simple user friendly interface.

Love this app!. As a pharmacist, this is an app that I find essential in my practice. I use it every day in some way- dosage calculations, dosage guide, quick interaction check, pill ID, etc, etc. It is just a quick reference check to have right in my pocket if I'm away from the computer. I love it!!

Essential tool. Must have app. Interaction checker in particular is useful. Would prefer if monographs & updates were a menu option rather than a forced screen. Also would like to see a non-paid consumer version, since too few docs check interactions.

An essential medical app for a busy medical practice. This is my first go-to information source for drug information. It is perfect for a quick reference and reminder. I also appreciate their CME availability. Keep up the good work. My staff and patients appreciate you!

Love Hate Relationship. I have used Epocrates for a long time, and have relied on it to take care of patients; but over the years they certainly have lacked an unwavering commitment to a quality product that won’t interrupt your workflow on a busy day when you’re taking care of patients. The latest shenanigan are pharmaceutical banner advertisements, even though I pay an annual fortune for this product. Sadly, that’s something I will no longer be doing & am switching to an alternative source.

Still needs work. Use this app often. Has great information. Don't like that it wipes out all of my notes and things I had as favorites when I update. Also wish they would allow us to pin to home screen or favorite the calculators we use often, otherwise I have to go through three steps to get to the BMI calculator.

N.F., R.Ph.. Excellent tool. I use it daily. Only inconvenience is when adding a new drug into the interaction screen it usually does not respond when toutching the (+) sign on the upper left hand of the screen. I had thought it was a problem with my iphone screen but I took it over to the iphone people and my screen is ok. So maybe if epocrates can correct that bug in the application the tool becomes awesome.

CRNP. I do find this app very useful. My main complaint is efficiency. It often is slow and updates take an exorbitant amount of time. Today during clinic I needed to use it and currently 4 hours later the syncing function update that began without my prompting is still not completely finished. If this can be improved upon I would greatly appreciate it!

App issued. In the last several months I am having nothing but issues with this app. Freezes up have to restart my phone to get it out of its cycle. Now today trying to look up medication and on the medication nothing will open when clicked on. I am a paid subscriber and rely on this app to be functioning properly for information. If you cannot get it fixed perhaps I should find an alternative resource!!!!!

Doctor P. Epocrates has been my go to for quick clinical reference since med school. Unfortunately, the latest update seems glitchy. It keeps taking me back to the login screen when I try to look up meds. Sometimes (like today on a busy Friday) I get stuck there and I can’t open the app. If it isn’t better soon, I will have to find another app.

$175?!!! Health info should not be a profit driven. Shameful that the full app is $175. Per year! How about some ethical and moral leadership from the makers of this app by showing the world you can still make a ... um ... health profit with pricing strategies that aren’t cost prohibitive to the majority of the population? Surely the bright minds behind this app can identify partner organizations to help make this happen? Imagine what could happen if you tamed your profit quest and instead prioritized people’s health and ability to understand more about it? THEN you would start rewriting history. Beginning with this app. Good luck!
