Evernote App Description & Overview

The applications Evernote was published in the category Productivity on 2008-07-11 and was developed by Evernote. The file size is 116.57 MB. The current version is 8.17.3 and works well on 11.0 and high ios versions.

You told us you love Templates, so we’ve made it even easier for you to use them. Now you can view our gallery of templates—plus any you’ve saved—right inside the app. Just click on the “Template” button when you create a new note to see them all. Oh yeah, you know we’re doin’ our happy dance.

FYI, they look great with Dark Mode too.

Love it!  Greggy L.  5 star

Favorite app next to Shazam, I tell everyone about it, keep up the great work!

SHOULD HAVE A BETTER UI/UX  Ridvan Ali  3 star

Most things are fine, but that huge add button (green circle) that sticks out looks awkward. Maybe make it a tab like the other icons. And the option to upload a photo as our profile pic would be nice as well. Not a fan of the replacement image you guys use when there is no assigned profile pic. It's just a weird looking letter. You guys should change that to a default icon pic, like a grey cartoon portrait.

Still a fan but needs improvement  sezduck  3 star

I've been a loyal Evernote user for years, and I've been a paid subscriber. Evernote has features that I love, such as web clipping, mail to Evernote, and Scannable integration. There are 3 reasons that I have been considering switching to a new notes app. 1. Bugs with the iOS & Mac apps 2. Price. I'll gladly pay for a valuable product. But Evernote's three-tier plan is a bit much. I want some of the pro features (business card scanning & searching PDFs) but the cost is too high. As a result, I settle for the plus version and miss out on some features. 3. Clumsy UI needs improvement I just renewed my yearly subscription. Evernote’s CEO had made a promise to spend 2019 fixing Evernote. I hope it’s significantly better by the time I’m up for renewal again. If not, I’ll probably switch. A few additional new features that I’d like to see: The ability to custom sort notes in a notebook - and pin a note to the top. The ability to create sub-notes under existing notes (like in OneNote) Improved widget functionality. E.g. the option to display custom notes or notebooks from the widget.

Updated: Evernote > Solid app  Cornelius111  5 star

1/20/2019: Finally following up on my original review. Fixed (5 stars) 7/15/2018: I like the app but one thing I have been waiting for for a little while now is the autocapitalization after a line break. Seems to be broken. I’ll give another star to see it fixed. Here’s hoping🤞🏼(4 stars)

Need PDF file preview as MacOS version  Matt_Lulu  4 star

I love Evernote, It is elegant and super easy to use. I use pdf file a lot and hope I can preview PDF file in Evernote just like in desktop version.

Is Evernote free  nsjs)sndjd  5 star

I can’t get this darn app free and it’s charged 500 dollars

Uploads Duplicate Notes  voice__of__reason  1 star

Evernote still uploads some notes in duplicate. Duplicate files are very common and use up the users data limit. The free service offers a mere 60MB per month. Switch to an alternative service while you still can. Also, convert webpages that you save to PDFs using iOS print. This way when you inevitably jump ship you won’t have conversion issues. If you’re planning on syncing notes with a PC be ready to get to know the spinning wait symbol. The PC version is very slow. Maybe a new name is in order. Maybe Everwait? 1/16/19

Great App: the best way to use Evernote  Eukeryote  5 star

This app is the best way to use Evernote. Far better than in a browser. Plus the Apple Watch app is very usable, unlike some other big name apps. Need to view recent notes on your watch? Check! Need to jot a quick note to Evernote on the Watch? Check! I find that Evernote on my iPad in particular is the very best interface for Evernote, and I’m a long-time Evernote user. Evernote in general rocks.

Basic but deceiving  ForrealTho?  1 star

I don’t know if a recent update brought more bugs, but I am tired of using this app. It seems universal and like it will complete your productivity flow, but with such basic things as copy and pasting issues, I am disappointed. Might as well just pay for more iCloud storage. Went to report the bug in app, hoping for help, and it made the process just as difficult. Getting my stuff transferred ASAP.

/  Just_apple_only_?_cvkgjbgfrng  4 star

Evernote has made my hectic writing schedule much easier. The notebooks help me organise my notes however, I’d like to suggest being able to add the same note to more than one notebook since some of my notes are interconnected.

Jo Cool Cat

Took money from my account at the end of trial offer without authorisation  Jo Cool Cat  1 star

Very unhappy with this producer. The trial period ended and they took money from my account without notification.. I am very angry about this. BIG THUMBS DOWN. Don’t be fooled by a free trial!

Ok but frustrating Non responsive to feedback  Dezer1970  2 star

Overall OK App but very frustrated that basic options are no longer available in the Menu Bar strop & must click on ... This is NOT productive to increase number of clicks & harder to find them. Also very disapointing that Atlas feature which enables search by geographical location of note was removed. Evernote doesn’t listen or respond to strong customer feedback & response times to customer service & technical support for paid Premium members can take 7 or more days to respond then months to resolve.

Get it  Surfer4  5 star

This keeps on getting better. Was buggy few years ago. Use it all the time to scan and keep written notes , docs etc. Thank you Evernote for giving us a great app .

2nd attempt  dcb555  1 star

Time heals? No, I thought I would give Evernote another go after a couple of years in hiatus. Turns out the support is still useless and their product as well. Stick with iOS notes. Evernote adds nothing to my life.

Buggy  Sarah638  1 star

Infuriatingly Slow!  Lockster2  2 star

When you want to take a note fast, Evernote will let you down. After starting the app it freezes while the sync takes about 30 seconds to complete and the entire UI is frozen. And then when you press that plus button to create a note it can take over a minute for the spinner to go away as its checking for your templates (of which I have none). This really hurts your enthusiasm for taking notes as it feels like it’s punishing you for starting it. Compare with the speed of Apple’s built in notes app.

Good to bad  simcamp  1 star

I’ve ben been using Evernote for years... Now it constantly crashes and ask you to log in every time you open the app on your phone. Use alternative as it’s not worth the money.

Calendar in Evernote  WarbyRanger  2 star

What I really miss is a calendar. We use Evernote as a workflow app and it would be terrific to be able to have a calendar function where you can click on a note within the calendar and the whole note opens up.

Dark Mode!  Kobi Arthur  5 star

Hooray for Dark Mode! Thank you!

No technical support  Razz42  1 star

I've used Evernote for years. Unfortunately, they have restricted their website so that it is basically impossible to get technical support unless you are a premium member. I left my membership lapse for a few months while I knew I wouldn't use it. Unfortunately, when I went into my account shortly before I planned to reinstate it, I noticed a glitch with templates. This would not be a huge deal, but I am extremely frustrated by the shoddy setup of evernotes support. There are two options for support. The first is to go to "support" on the Evernote website and then select your problem. There was nothing about my problem there. The second option is to select "contact us" on the app or website, and then choose between email or phone. This is 2019, so I went with the non-phone option. This then takes you through a series of drop down menus to select the subject of your email. I did this, and was repeatedly given a message to file a report about my issue. There was no link, note was there an obviou way to do this in the note or on the templates page. After devoting a couple of hours to the sisyphean task, I gave up. I'm hesitant to reinstate my premium account, as well. I don't really want to pay $60 for additional services to a company that doesn't even stand behind their self-proclaimed basic ones.

Difficult to share notes  computer savage  1 star

Want to share a simple PDF of your note? Good luck finding that buried menu option. Want to change how the PDF layout? Nope.

Poor support.  no-thing~  1 star

Be warned there is no real tech support. I have used Evernote for a few years. There search function for scanned notes has been great. But I have replaced my computer with a new one and there is no support to enable the transfer of my account. No instructions that I can find. No email! No phone. I guess I will have to switch to Bear notes at least their pro account is affordable.

Good app  RavLogic  4 star

Good app but the search capability needs to improve.

They could make Evernote great...  HeresMyTwoCents  2 star

Tags are a central part of making Evernote work, so why the heck are there still so many inconsistencies between the way tags work on iOS vs. macOS? For the love of God, why can you still not show nested tags on iOS? They show up perfectly on the Mac. And why is it that I can forward the same email to Evernote and to OneNote, and the email is formatted perfectly inside OneNote, but in Evernote it looks like the email exploded! Tables are torn apart and scattered all over the place, colors are wrong... I swear, if I didn’t know any better, I’d think the people at Evernote are actually trying to lose the race with OneNote. Not to mention the fact that Evernote still will not allow us to create a notebook directly inside our desired notebook stack, nor can we create a child tag directly inside the parent tag. Instead, they force us to create new notebooks and tags into “outer space”, and then we have to go in manually move them into the stack or parent tag we wanted them to be in in the first place. Seriously, why?! This is such an absolute waste of time! Why not allow us to select a stack or parent tag, and then create new notebooks and tags within the selected item? This is elementary stuff, people! They should have more than enough money by now to hire additional programmers to get these annoying issues sorted out!

Can’t see what I’m typing  maggiehall818  1 star

When in portrait mode on my iPhone 8, I can’t see what I’m typing in the note because the formatting bar hides it. Can’t figure out how to hide the formatting menu.

Crashing and searches  inpny  2 star

I love the functionality of having it on all my devices. Discovered though that I can’t search for handwritten words when using my phone or iPad. It works on my laptop though. It also keeps crashing on my phone kicking me out. Grrrr!!! I switched to Evernote only because were starting to use it at work. I still prefer OneNote. A few days later now ... it crashes EVERYTIME I try to use it on my iPhone. Frustrating I’ve paid the annual subscription. This is not what I expected from all I’ve heard.

Password reset option?  Tanman55555  1 star

As i was typing in my password, there mustve been a typo. The result was an unknown password with no apparent ability to change. The app nor the website shows any obvious ways to reset password. I have to use a new email just to start using this application in the first place.

The app is great there’s just one problem!  Dudaxoxo  5 star

I had deleted the app 3 times today because when I signed in using google it singed in then it went straight to searching devices then it stopped then it searched devices again and it’s searching way too long and I’m trying to write a note but I can’t if it keeps doing that

Ohne Grenze

Left in the Lurch!  Ohne Grenze  2 star

I’ve used Evernote for years, recommending it to one and all. Very handy to store info needed in a pinch, or for referencing recipes or projects when shopping or collecting supplies. So, there I am, out and about, iPhone in hand, trying to access Evernote, and I can’t get in. After closing the app, restarting my phone, and several more fruitless attempts, I had to admit defeat. The app that was supposed to keep me organised and all my notes handy and right at my fingertips had FAILED me big time. When I finally got home, I tried every which way to access some kind of customer support. Near as I can figure, I need to write a letter and post it snail mail. In desperation, I deleted to app and tried to reload it. That’s when I discovered the issue at play: Evernote has optimised itself beyond my iPhone 4s’ iOS. So much for the promises of keeping all my notes in one place for me. While I still have Evernote on my home computer, I guess it is time to migrate my notes somewhere else. I don’t see the point in having to purchase a new phone every time an app “evolves” beyond.

A great support during a doctorate  vteditor  5 star

Currently undertaking a doctorate and it’s a great support for note taking, Organiser and reminder for content and resourced information. Have it on all devices and recommend for academics.

Create a new tag iOS  scorpionvenom  4 star

So I’m a premium member the last two years and love it, I use Evernote for web clipping. I have two notebooks and I tag everything my only issue is that when you clip a page and want to save it you can’t create a new tag ? On iOS

Crashing constantly  Maymaywong  1 star

Paid for premium but most of the time I try to upload a business card it crashes half way through!!!

IOS Evernote web vs app  Mxdgatereg  1 star

If you have an iOS Evernote app you cannot log in to Evernote web as it keeps on forcing you to open it in app! I want to link it with ifft which needs authorisation and takes me to Evernote on browser. I cannot log in the web version as I have forgotten my password but there is no option for ‘Forgot password?’. It keeps on forcing me to open the app and the app version has no option to set password.

Poor. Keeps freezing  Reinhard76  1 star

Right after I launch Evernote it freezes. Every time. Product quality has become very poor in recent time. If Microsoft OneNote could sort Notes, I'd use that.

Syncing to 2 devices only??  Martynet  2 star

I had Evernote premium subscription for couple of years...5, 6 maybe? Well, its canceled now and I transfered all my notes to Apple Notes. And it works! And do you know why I did it? Because I know few users with free account. And limiting them with 2 devices was not a nice step. I care for them. Syncing across all devices should be a free service and you fu*ked up. Bye bye. App deleted.

Woeful update to a phenomenal app  WolfieWonder  1 star

My go-to note app for the past 5 or 6 years, but the current version is a complete disaster. Simply will not comply with my iOS and freezes anytime I navigate, open a page or a notebook. It also freezes for periods of up to 20-30 seconds which makes it impossible to use the app for rapid note-taking -- something that I rely on. Would really appreciate a fix to this.

Great app on iPhone. Extremely disappointing in WatchOS  Jbcharognard  3 star

My favorite app in iPhone is a disaster on WatchOS. You can only the 3 last notes you checked in your phone. What is the point of having a search bar for only 3 notes? There is No possibility to scroll all the notes and notebooks, and to search for them. Besides the app can be very slow sometimes.
