This App Ain’t App-ing. This is not a user friendly app. I can see what has been set up but can’t change anything. All I’ve been able to do successfully in the few months we’ve lived here is submit work orders (which that seems to work just fine).

Love it!. I love the new update! The new rewards program is amazing. -Easy to use -You earn rewards now just for paying your rent -No fees

Lack of Respect. This forceful transition to an app that I would considered still in development is the latest display of managements lack of respect for its residents. The app is never ending web of embedded links to other services that require you to also sign up for in order to make payments. That being said, you’re lucky if you can even load them half the time. Once in, you’ll be bombarded with never ending ads and aggressive marketing. Don’t want to get the credit card well just link your own card and authorize to share all your transaction detail with them, or do it directly with your linked bank account! It’s things like this that make your residents provide these negative responses to your property’s both as seen in this app or your google reviews. Please listen to feedback.

Non-functional. Won’t actually accept rent payments. Links don’t work, crashes out, sends spam emails about signing up for credit cards you don’t want - it is beyond inexplicable that my property chose to move from a perfectly functional rent portal to a portal that can’t even reliably process rent payments

Another predatory change from Greystar. The moment that you click the payment access you are brought to a page essentially begging you to sign up for a “new Mastercard” just to make payments. The only way to add payment methods is to access your account details, you can NOT use Stripe to connect as the developers didn’t account for basic workflow (Software dev myself so..) consistent crashes on new hardware, and all the lack of security which comes with most apps. Likewise the forced switch requires you to pickup this new credit card to earn rewards which can “lower your rent”, but in no world is there ever a good reason to use a CC for rent. The entire process is a huge grey (not pun intended) legal area which seems to be normal for Greystar.

Not great. My property recently swapped to this and it makes you sign in a billion times and it has taken me several attempts to attach my bank account - still hasn’t worked. And the ads are nefarious! No one needs a rent credit card and if you say no it doesn’t go away. Also why does it need my location??? It’s a stupid app and has terrible user experience when our previous portal was fine. 0/5 if I could.

Seriously a joke. I’ve never downloaded a worse app in my life. This app is just a bunch of web links that don’t load. The devs are clearly 12 years old and had to make this as a 6th grade project. I literally can’t link my bank account info. Greystar has done nothing but ruin our apartments since taking over.

By far the worst app I have ever experienced. Why is it so hard to pay rent? Why is promoting a credit card with them? Why do we need a perks tab? Why can’t we access our lease documents without getting sent outside the app? Everything with the old app was better😬👏🏼 This is just a pathetic app all around, and it feels like it is out dated and they just went the cheap routine. There’s no reason to have adds, or payment rewards? Greystar should be embarrassed, and I’m sure the people that rolled this out will not take any of the blame….. as the poor property staffs will be taking the hit for it. If you had part in “creating this app” or anything with this app you should ashamed of yourself….

Not even an App. This “app” if you can call it that is a poor excuse for one. Core functionality isn’t even built into it. Linking to external websites does not make this an app, especially because I can’t even link a payment method through the app and also have to sign up for another service in order to pay my rent. Not sure why we moved from securecafe, which was much better and fully featured than this pathetic excuse for an app. I really hope the product manager for Resident experience reads this and decides to urge the engineers to idk actually build an app not a link farm. Pathetic

Love that they have Bilt. There’s not much to say beyond that. I love Bilt. I earn points on my rent now. I earn more points when I eat at nearby restaurants. I earn more points when I ride with Lyft. This is awesome.

Fire new rewards program. I was skeptical at first but not no to Greystar’s new rewards program. I’ve been able to trade New York winters for sunny Miami twice in the last few months using Bilt points. I’ve also been draining all of my open carts on the 1st of the month to get double the points. I’ve never been so excited to pay rent!

Forced. This app has been forced onto the residents of the complex I most unfortunately reside at. The app charges to pay rent. I highly doubt their dumb little reward points will amount to anything useful. I don’t need imaginary treats to pay my rent. I just want to pay my rent. Not go through ads or be offered stupid Mastercard/app cards. Million/billion dollar companies playing landlord and just trying to squeeze every cent out of their residents.

Does not work. Fix your app, it never continues to the next step for setting up payment, which is already annoyed to do. Forcing residents to use this app, don’t give other flexible option to pay rent, I see class action lawsuit coming to this app.

Most useless app ever. My apartment recently switched to this app. First of all, the interaction of this app is ridiculous. Opening up loops of pages for starter. Second of all, very buggy. Up to this point, there is no option for me to pay rent. And no support for any issues that come up, and the leasing office has no idea what to do with the app. It’s a shame that they chose to switch from a perfectly working resident portal to this thing that’s beyond trash.

Garbage 🤮. Forced to use this app by my apartment complex... it is completely unusable. I can't even use it to pay my rent -- the system never sends me a text message so I cannot complete my registration 🤬 And when I asked the apartment complex about other ways to pay my rent, they just ignored me This isn't the first reason Greystar gave me to find a new home, but it might be the last!

Trash !!!!. Trash !!!! I hate it. Horrible experience for a renter. I miss the old payment one that we used. My other app was great and easy had Apple Pay or took the money out of the account instanly still waiting and it’s been over 48hrs and hasn’t been taken out of my account for this one. I don’t care about trying to earn points for paying my rent this is trash.

Easy to use. Greystar made a huge stride here for resident engagement and rewards. Super easy to use and I can finally earn some points on my rent!

Shell of an app. Everything is empty but the link to the payment portal through Bilt’s system. That seems to function fine, but it’s just a front for aggressive marketing of their products and services. I am only there to pay rent, so someone let Bilt know to tone it down a little. As for Greystar, no property contacts, no response to community messages, no events, no amenities updated anywhere in the app. Everything is a blank page. Lights aren’t even on, and nobody’s home. We need a way to cancel pending work orders, too. Since I put them in and wait two weeks for things to be fixed, I’d love a way to cancel the work order, because I have to fix things myself. I’d love to let the maintenance guy know he can skip me so he can focus on the next. Worthless app for a worthless property management.

Terrible UX. HUGE inconvenience.. I’m not sure who decided it was a good idea to force this on residents. It is one thing to launch an app to try and provide a better experience to residents - and make it opt in. It is another thing to launch a new, underdeveloped app, and force residents to switch over in 2 weeks before their next payment. We all have lives, and the last thing we want is added, unnecessary complexity with something that should be set once and then forgotten about. Do better. Don’t take shortcuts to try and boost the daily active users of your app. Either create an incredible experience and earn users, or don’t launch an app at all.

9.99$ fee unless you sign up for their Mastercard. There was literally nothing wrong with the previous payment method of just using the website. Sketchy quality app that gives me no confidence in the company and honestly makes me worried they will be an easy target to have information stolen. The whole service is built around you signing up for their Mastercard and if you don’t there’s a 9.99$ service fee to this company to pay your rent on top of the other service fees you’re already paying. Ridiculous and stupid.

Cutting Costs and Quality. The change to this app and platform affect both the residents and staff negatively. It makes it harder to do all aspects of the renting process, as well as having to sign up for several new things we never wanted to do in the first place. All in the name of a billion dollar company saving a little money 👍

Doesn’t even deserve the one star.. Forced to use this God-awful app to pay rent. Never ending adds. Tries so hard to get you to sign up for their credit card. Forced to share information linking your bank account. I can not understand how this is even legal.

Product Team Should Be Fired. Greystar’s PM’s have officially taken the trophy for worst digital product every from the lovely people over at Fetch Delivery. The app doesn’t even let you pay your rent on the online portal or via the mobile app, yet we get fined for paying our rent late. Don’t penalize residents for a terribly shipped app with worst-in-class UI and UX.

Please, delete this app.. This is by far the worst app that I’ve ever used. I’ve lived at my apartment for 3 years and they just started using this app for everything. I’ve made so many trips to the front office now because nothing on the app works. There’s so many issues I don’t have enough time to list them out.

The single worst rent paying experience of my life. The fact that they punish you with a $10 fee for not using their Bilt card is the most greedy thing I can imagine. This app rejected my payment and then charged me double for my rent when it went through so now I have -$817 in my checking account. The previous system my apartment had was fine but I assume they entered some sort of partnership with this company so they can squeeze more money out of renters and mask it as a “credit building” program. No one needs rent to build their credit just let me pay what I owe and then leave me alone until the 1st every month.

Great Rewards program. I couldn't be happier with this rewards program! Earning points on my rent payments has been a game-changer for me. It's such a simple and convenient way to get rewarded for something I have to do anyway. The points accumulate quickly, and the redemption options are fantastic.

This app is terrible,. Grammatical errors and residents don’t appreciate properties going to this which then adds additional increase of processing fees when paying rent. This is ridiculous. The app doesn’t appear to have been tested in dev environment prior to going into production. When attempting to pay through resident portal in the browser and selecting “payments & rewards” nothing opens, yet we have to download this poorly created app in order to pay rent. I would’ve gave 0 stars, but it’s not an option. This app is not building trust, but rather doing the complete opposite for residents/tenants that are being forced to use this. All property management that have onboarded this app for rent payments clearly didn’t test this out themselves before making residents use this and it shows. Poor decision making.

Aweful. I wouldn't normally write a review for an app, but this appbis simply aweful you have to sign up for a seconed website to make payments and in the agreement you have to share all of tour credit history. why do you need my credit history to make a rent payment? and why do i have to sign up for another website? And no i didn't sign up for bt whatever because im not going to give some random jo shmow my credit history

Literally doesn’t work to pay rent. My apartment complex just got switched to this app, it’s now the only way to pay rent and it literally won’t work to pay my rent. I’ve connected my bank account, but when I try to pay rent the only payment option available is signing up for the Bilt credit card, gee, no ulterior motives there! This app is awful. You had one job!!

Greystar App > Life. Life has been difficult to navigate since my Mad Cow Disease diagnosis in June of 2012. Ever had someone scream “moo” at you? To get back on track, this app has made handling my home payments a breeze. Now I have more time to focus on my rehab, reruns of J.A.G, and trying to quit my severe nicotine addiction. Moral of the story, I wouldn’t be who I am today without this app.

Nobody asked for this. Signing up, I have had to click through at least three different screens asking to use my personal data to sell me things I don’t want. It’s sad that this is truly the only way to pay rent, and my rent is being monitized so that my apartment can sell my data to another company to sell me more things that I don’t want. Literally all I want to do is pay rent and ask for maintenance requests - not give my information away at every second to advertisers. I’m really disappointed. No choice either.

Love the app!. I love the app. Some bugs and tweaks, but other than that. It’s been great. Some people just enjoy complaining about anything lol

Nearly Non-Functional. Our apartment complex recently switched to this application. It is terrible, crashing or erroring out constantly. I honestly thought the email announcing the switch was a phishing attempt. The application links against other sites within the same app for almost any action, which is precisely what I would expect from a phishing attempt. When trying to pay, it links against some other application asking for financial details and to provide new and different credentials. Given the state of the front end, I don’t trust that their backend won’t be hacked. I’m really not comfortable putting financial information into this thing.

Bilt is great!. Really loving the Bilt platform. So glad my property switched over - makes paying rent actually feel like it’s doing something for me.

Loving the new rewards!. I’ve never wanted to pay rent with CC but now that there’s no fee and I can earn points I’m so excited!!

Forced to download. I was forced to download this app because my complex won’t let me log into the website to sign documents the way I have for multiple years. The thing is this app just takes me to the old website, it doesn’t add anything new other than frustration and confusion. It’s just some stupid extra step that adds nothing of value. This is disgraceful.

Heading in a good direction. The app could use some tweaks, but overall I’m glad I’m able to earn points on my rent payments. Other reviews have said you have to sign up for the credit card or pay fees for submitting rent payments, but that hasn’t been my experience paying with my bank account. The pros with Bilt & Greystar outweigh the cons for sure. Some people just like to complain.

Absolute trash. This app looks like it was made as a homework project by some kids. You have to sign into multiple accounts to pay your rent. No idea why any business would put up such a stupid wall between them and getting their money.

You don't actually need the app to pay rent. At least for my community, you don't actually need this stupid app to pay rent. They use a separate service (Bilt, which is its own level of terrible) which you can access from your computer.

Terrible. Tries to trick you into applying for a credit card, steals your credit score data and you have to email to opt out (still not sure if they are using my data). Hidden form to opt out of selling your data which they most definitely sell. All this just to pay rent. I should have tried using a check instead

Awful!. I normally don’t write reviews, but this app is awful! I have been FORCED to start using it and if I could move out of my apartment complex I would only because of having to use this app. It is not secure and if my personal information is stolen because of this app i wouldn’t be surprised. I didn’t ask for it and I don’t want it! I tried using a desktop to login and it wouldn’t let me.

Another reason to not rent from Greystar. With no advance notice, this piece of trash replaced the usable web portal. Now I can no longer pay rent! The app data did not include my phone number, and it cannot be manually set. But to log in to the payment system, a phone number is required. Cannot wait to get away from Greystar and all of their hostile decisions and ramming of ads down residents’ throats. Negative stars if it was possible.

Inconvenient. Don’t know why my apartment complex decided to switch to this. All I know is that it’s made things worse, now I have to give this app my privacy just to be able to make a payment that I was able to do quite easily before but now I have to go in here and sign in and have to try to find the payment tab to be able to make payments and on top of it you have to pay a $10 dollar fee just to be able to pay your rent. This is so frustrating.

Should be illegal. My apartment building recently sprang this app on us. It’s unbelievable. If you pay your rent through this app you are given the “choice” to either allow the app to monitor your credit card transactions or give them your user name and password for your bank account! How is this remotely acceptable or legal? Only an idiot would agree to these terms. Pay your rent by check, they can’t stop you.

Just using renters’ financial data to pay for rent collection. This is obviously a savings deal for the landlords. They probably pay little or nothing to have Bilt collect their monthly rents. But renters must consent to Bilt looking at all their credit card billings if they pay by card (with a 3% fee!) or at all their banking activity if they link to their bank account. They don’t just take the money, they harvest your personal information and resell it. It’s outrageous that a landlord should try to coerce tenants into giving up their financial data to a third party they have a new beneficial relationship with. Not going to do it.

Great experience. Thrilled with the transition to this app and the new rewards program. I signed up - pretty cool! Not sure where the $10 fee others are mentioning is coming from - I think when you pay with debit cards, which wasn’t free prior to this transition. The app is easy to navigate for payments and also checking upcoming events or notices from my building - it’s a little slow sometimes but overall great!

Horrendous. Godawful, glitchy app no asked for, filled with ads/credit card offers. Requires you to sign up for more 3rd party websites to pay rent, which don’t work, i was unable to even set up a payment method. A pathetic attempt to data mine and advertise more to their residents, placing the inconvenience on their paying customers.

Unprofessional App. I am horrified that we now have to use this app to pay rent. Thankfully I’m tech savvy, but if you aren’t I can see it being a major problem. Also, the app tries to get your personal information from your bank account, and to sign up for a credit card. If you are not careful, you’ll end up signing up for a card and sharing your banking info beyond your account and routing number. There are also ads all over the place. I cannot believe how unprofessional this is when it involves residents’ money. I have never seen anything like this. Unbelievable.

Greystar is the worst for moving to this app. Worst experience ever to pay rent for my son! Do not appreciate all the adds just to get to payment. This is extremely sketchy.

Glitches. The app glitches a lot and just has a blank white screen. Kind of annoying cuz it’s the only app that my apartment complex works with and it doesn’t work. Neither does it communicate with you bank very well.

Garbage. Saw that this apps wants to not only sell me a credit card but also monitor my transactions? Immediately deleted and will paying rent by check.

Finally, a resident rewards program. So glad that Greystar uses Bilt. First time I can say that paying rent feels like a modern experience with actual resident perks. Can earn points and use them at amazon and also build credit.

Garbage app. This app is absolute trash, and that’s putting it kindly. Barely functional, any feature provided requires a redirect to a browser and a login using the property’s portal. It defeats the purpose of the app itself.

Worst app ever. Can’t do anything inside this app. Just tries to steal my data.

This is sad. This app tries to get you to provide all of your financial information beyond what is needed to make a payment. Unfiltered full access to your statements and transaction history. I’m genuinely concerned that this was seen as a viable solution.

Not good. Trying to pay rent, the app keeps saying they need to verify the account via a otp, but the “send code” button doesn’t work

I’m so annoyed. If there was a choice of 0 stars I’ll put it, this app the only thing that has done is give me headaches It was way better to pay in my residents portal.

This App blows. Not straight forward. Don’t have confidence in this app. It’s a money grab for “rewards” and to sign up for a credit card and use it. Their mixing property management with commerce.

Uhh okay. Literally terrible app design that makes everything more complicated and riddled with ads. If an apartment you’re considering uses this maybe consider looking elsewhere.

Dissatisfied. App is literally confusing. Many different websites/tabs populate when trying to pay rent, etc. It's also very difficult to maneuver through the app, it's extremely too much.

Terrible app: Difficult to see if you have set up a payment option that auto pays Requires you to log in to a secondary app that is the Bilt App so you will have to re enter all the info you did for the initial app Who cares about the weather, take that out and make this more user friendly. If your rental place is doing this then it’s probably already a bad place to rent, for example Vora Mission Valley in San Diego.

Why. Why did my apartment complex just try to get me to sign up for a credit card? I don’t trust my financial information in an app that has this many bugs. I’ll be walking checks to the office.

Beware!. WARNING!!! This is an absolutely terrible and downright predatory app! If you were directed by your building management to suddenly download this app in order to pay your rent then READ EVERYTHING CAREFULLY. If you do not pay attention when signing up, you will inadvertently apply for a piece of **** credit card (which impacts your credit score). Make sure to UNCHECK the box to apply (which is checked by default). You unfortunately must also agree to the terms of conditions for the user account which involves a lot of fine print granting them access to all sorts of information about your financial transactions (unrelated to your rent), allow them to monitor your credit score, and all sorts of privacy sensitive info that they no doubt harvest and sell to to third parties (their "partners"). Then, if you want to link your own credit card for payments, you must "agree" to grant them full access to view your credit card transactions and payments. Again, not at all relevent to nor any of their business with respect to paying your rent. If you want to add a bank account, DO NOT SELECT THE AUTOMATIC OPTION (via Plaid) -- this also grants them tons of info related to bank transactions. Add your bank account manually which I believe avoids this privacy invasion ... for now. If you're really paranoid, avoid this app altogether and pay by paper check. App itself is buggy, full of ads, external links, and generally a complete waste of my phone's hard drive space. No one wants nor needs an app just to pay their rent for crying out loud. Just another way for your rental company to make money off your personal information. Should really report the payment company (Bilt Payments) to the Better Business Bureau for their predatory tactics just to make a ****ing rent payment.

This App is Stupid. Your apartment forced you to switch to this stupid app? All it does is show you the weather and force you to pull up “bilt.com” within the app. It doesn’t even remember your password info to login so it’s a constant hassle to even check for rent amount. Just download the BILT app for rewards or go to bilt.com to create login and sync to your rent portal

Crappy app. Did you guys hire CS dropouts to develop this thing?

Horrible App - Forced to Use By Complex. I was forced to become a member of this app by the company that owns the place where I rent. The app has a 1.8 rating and is very clunky to use.

Beware of this company!. These people who own this company are a joke! If you use a debit card to make your payment be prepared to pay 9.99! Money hungry is what it seems to me.. just ridiculous!

Addition of BILT was a terrible idea. Paying my rent through BILT has made life more complicated as it is not seamless anymore. I am not privy to having to use a third party for this. BILT integration needs improvement asap.

I wish I could give this 0 stars. Clearly a cash grab that in no way improves the living experience of residents. The app is buggy, slow, and difficult to navigate. The “promotions” and “deals” that the app offers are not worth the hassle.
