Way more user friendly than good reads !!. I love this app! I was trying to find an app that would help me get more into reading and I stumbled upon good reads. When I got that app I was severely disappointed and frustrated with the app design. It was hard to use and didn’t motivate me to track my reading in anyway. I was searching for an alternative app to get me into reading and I stumbled upon StoryGraph! I fell in love immediately! It’s so user friendly and motivates me to track my progress, not only that it gives amazing suggestions off of what you like to read. It even has different folders where you can store the books you have in your library, books you need to read, and books you are currently reading. I really love StoryGraph!

The delight factor is high. Over the last year, StoryGraph has become essential to tracking my reading progress, and I’m so glad to have an indy option. I liked it before the redesign and I love it even more now. I’m a PLUS customer, and I absolutely get $5 worth of value every month. I look at StoryGraph every day to plan my TBR. The new and look feel of the app is great. It is super clean and easy to navigate. The product team is entertaining all kinds of ideas for the roadmap, and they are small but mighty team! I was delighted to get a quick response to my feature suggestion, even if they couldn’t prioritize it just now. They really know what readers want from the data (making it easy to see how I’m progressing and engaging with my reading goals, and THEN letting me drill a bit into those trends) and social experience (NOT comment thread dumpster fire NOR a competition that alienates readers who may read at different paces and for different reasons). The delight factor is high.

New kid on the block?. I just realized almost all reviews are within past couple of days so there is my evidence :) The app has a simple streamlined also uncluttered interface. I like the general minimalist aesthetic which plays a big part for continued use as a new user. I am impressed with the recommendations as I have been building a small ‘library’, online or offline. The books fall neatly into the niches I am currently focusing on while bearing surprise factor to expand on my own list. This is a gem for sure. I guess it really depends on the longevity of those apps, growth potential, user base…Last Goodread replacement seems to be out of the cyberspace before I get to check it out (after I first learned about it some years ago)…At least I am a front runner for this one! So maybe share some findings, 1st, the app doesn’t stay signing in, so it’s a bit inconvenient having to type credential every time. 2nd the Current On…section is like a young adult gold mine, pretty irrelevant to my reading selection. So no idea what’s the algorithm behind… Question is if I start to add data to this, how long will they stay on? Also how good is the archive the app is searching? How solid is the search/display algorithm? The order of the search results are quite interesting…

Only a few days. I have only been using this app a few days. I am really liking what I am seeing. I had been using 2 other apps of which for reading and book tracking and know I will be discontinuing use of one of those and have not made up my mind yet about the second one. I have watched a few videos on you tube about this app to get a better idea of how this works. Several reviewers have suggested switching from a large well know database to this one. I am beginning see why they would recommend doing that using this a few days myself. I have chosen not to name the other 2 apps, databases as my intention is not to be disparaging of the other 2. Between the 3, I am finding this to be the best for me. I will probably pay for the PLUS option when my free month expires.

Favorite way to track my reading!. I absolutely love this app! If you're dissatisfied with the linearity of other reading-tracking apps, Storygraph is the perfect solution!! I recommend this app to literally everyone because of the brilliant interactive features, flexibility in ratings, and the fact that it's constantly in development. While it's not as established as certain competitors and doesn't receive the same level of financial backing, the app & developer go above and beyond with innovative features that make me almost as obsessed with this app as I am with reading. Some of my favorite features include: charts tracking reading moods, genres, and more; reading challenges organized by both the app and other users; innovative ways to find books tailored to your preferences/mood; buddy reads with friends!

#1 Fan!. Just want to say a thank you to Nadia, Rob, (and the third member of the team whose name I don’t know sorry) for creating and maintaining my favorite app. I switched over in January 2021 and haven’t looked back since. I’m paying for a plus membership this year and planning to finally sign up as a librarian so I can give back to this app that has added so much value for me. Even on days I don’t read, I always find a reason to open it. I read a lot, 220+ books a year in the last two years, and the metrics SG provides have been incredibly helpful and rewarding. I know social features are evolving on the app, but my favorite thing is the ability to zero in on the books with no fluff. I don’t have to wade trough reviews or spoilers to get to summaries. I don’t have to deal with offensive comments on benign posts. I don’t even have to place star ratings to leave detailed long reviews and I can annotate specific pages and quotes in my books. I custom tag my books to keep track of which I read from my local libraries, Kindle Unlimited, and my personal library. The buddy read feature is incredible. I could rave for hours and I have stood on a soapbox about it to many an unsuspecting friend or stranger. I can’t wait to see where the app goes from here!

The best reading app out there. I transitioned from Goodreads to StoryGraph last year and it improved my reading experience so much. The app offers readers a variety of stats and features that other apps do not supply. It is also super easy to transition your whole library, so do not worry about losing your data! I would 100% recommend making the switch if you want to see various aspects of your reading data displayed visually. Plus, there was an excellent reading wrapped feature at the end of the year. On top of that, the team that runs the app is very involved with users and responsive to requests users make. This is a wonderful app. I wish I could leave more than 5 stars.

Third year using, still my favorite app of all time. Storygraph is hands down the best book nerd app. Of course the features are A+, like data tracking, challenge integration, and book scanning now too! I am so excited to keep watching this app grow. I really do recommend it to any bibliophile I find in the wild. I switched over from a big name book tracking site and have never looked back (my previous logs transferred perfectly too). I read over 200 books a year, so it gets heavy use from me and completely stands up to it. What really blows me away, though, is the thoughtfulness and dedication of the development team. Every feature decision is explained and clearly done in the most ethical way they can. Ratings are decentralized which de-incentivizes review bombing. The amount and type of social media type aspects are chosen with care, which makes Storygraph a breath of fresh air. There is a communal roadmap to communicate with users about development timelines and choices. I have emailed support even as a free user and received a thoughtful response from real person. The internet is a tough place and I am constantly buoyed by seeing how much grace the people at Storygraph handle it with. If you see this, thank you so much. Note: the app being down is not a typical experience. I have been using the app every single day for years and almost never see it down. Please don’t let those reviews dissuade you from using Storygraph!

It had been SO good, but is so buggy lately….. I LOVE this app. But it seems to be extremely buggy lately, which is disappointing. There have been multiple times now in the past few days and weeks that I have tried to open the app and I see just a black screen after the spinning wheel. I try to give it a decent amount of time, but nothing. I don’t know what the problem might be, but I hope it isn’t a permanent thing. I use this app so much and it’s usually so good. My phone is updated to the latest iOS (maybe that is the problem, I don’t know…). Other than that, the features on this app are great, even if you don’t have Plus. I got this as an alternative to Goodreads, and I like it so much better. The rating options and stats are awesome and more thorough. I just hope whatever is going on can be fixed.

Love storygraph!. Storygraph is unmatched in tracking reading. I love all the data that it provides you, but more so I love that the team is constantly working to incorporate community feedback to make the app more accessible and enjoyable. Some folks were concerned given the app slowing down, but trust me as a long time user this is not a common occurrence and only happened due to the massive influx of new users importing their goodreads data. Their team is only a small handful of people, and the rate at which they address problems like this, care, and attention to quality is very clear. If you’re a reader that like to track your books, find book communities, enter into cool giveaways, and find great recommendations, Storygraph is for you!

Love tracking my reading list!. Love this app! A delightful combination of book reading, reviews and data visualization. Super easy to use, and the tables and charts for reading progress are engaging. Plus, the “recommended” reading selections are always just what I’m looking for. I used to track my reading in a small notebook, but started using The Storygraph app in 2022. I fell in love with the pie charts and review prompts after a few months, and went back to my notebook and entered 3 years of reading history in The Storygraph to track trends in format (book, digital, audio), mood (mostly light hearted), page count, and more. I love reading reviews on this app, and use the recommendations and reviews to plan my trips to the bookstore and library. The Storygraph changed the way I record my reading, and my reviews help me remember which authors and series I want to revisit or continue.

Best reading tracker. StoryGraph is a huge upgrade in reading tracker apps - we’re not spoiled for choice, which makes it even lovelier that SG is so aesthetically pleasing as well as functional. The stats and graphs that show your reading history are pleasing to us data needs, and features are added all the time. It’s a pretty seamless transition over from the other main option out there, which is all the more impressive when you realize the entire show is run by like three people total! Nadia (founder) is super transparent too, and it’s really cool to get so much insight into her process and vision for where the app is headed next in terms of features. I’ve been using this app quite a while now & am a big fan!

Hands down my fav reading tracking app. I’ve been using this app for a year, and it’s been a game changer. The stats and charts cover so much more than just a number of books read. I can track over time what kind of books I’m reading and how it changes. There are *so* many reading challenges you can join, or create one just for you and your friends. Speaking of friends, the is a buddy read option that allows you to read books together in a group, but by requiring a page number for each comment it protects you from seeing spoilers by keeping other’s comments hidden until you reach that point. I also am a really big fan of how reviews are handled - there’s a star rating and option for written reviews like other sites/apps, but there’s also clickable options for moods, pace, characters and a space where you can see/add content warnings.

Lots of functionality, but somewhat clunky UI. I tried this app because I wanted something that would show more data on pages read. I found that this app indeed has the functionality I was looking for. The support staff showed me that you can create a yearly goal based on number of books, number of pages read or number of minutes listened. There are also useful graphs to help visualize those stats over time. My favorite feature is that they show a random sample of books in your want to read pile. This helps to renew interest in books I might have added months ago. I think my biggest complaint about this app though is the interaction is a bit clunky and the visual design needs some work. The overall feel of the app is cluttered and busy. It would be much better if they could simplify it a bit.

Game Changer. This app is excellent. Fills a much needed missing source for ‘content warnings’ . The ability to select specific book content that I want to avoid ( or include ) is a game changer. For example: I like the the fast pace of crime novels such as author Lee Child, including his Jack Reacher series of 29 books, however as much as I like his writing style some of the books in the series contain personally triggering topics (such as sexual assault). Topics that are not necessarily evident from reading the summary or the first couple chapters. So I end up buying a book that I ultimately cannot read. However, many of the books do not contain topics I would rather avoid and STORYGRAPH allows me to specify my preferences, create a search for all the Lee Childs books, and it then marks each one as containing or not containing my specific topics. I have also used it to select from Sue Grafton novels as well look up books suggested from various book clubs or recommended by friends and family. I have not been able to find another source even remotely comes close to the benefits this one provides. Well Done!

Updated review for a good app!. Updated Review: To the developers, thanks for your response to my previous review. Glad you’re rising in popularity… a good problem to have! I’ve been enjoying how StoryGraph uses graphics to characterize my reading preferences, and the app is pretty intuitive and easy to use, I’ve suggested a few books that are missing from the database (such as Zadie Smith’s Intimations), and I’m interested to see if the ISBN function works to add new books. So far, I’m enjoying this app! Previous Review: (two stars on 1/4/24)I started using StoryGraph recently, as I’ve wanted to move away from GoodReads for a while. I like StoryGraphs’s clean layout and simple interface. But about 50% of the time I try to open the app, it just gets stuck on a blank screen. As I’m excitedly reaching my reading goals, my tracker isn’t working and I’m bummed! Also, when I tried to use the help function through the App Store, it consistently says they are down due to maintenance. For now, I plan to check out Bookworm, another newer app for those wanting to escape the GR review-bombing drama, but hopeful that StoryGraph will get back on its feet!

I use this app all the time. I've had this app since shortly after it became available. Never had an issue with it and it's so exciting each time it's updated. I have a huge to-read list that includes books that I own and don't. Maintaining the list in Story Graph has been easy. One of the best features is being able to search my tbr list for what I'm in the mood for and can search the whole list or just the books I own. I also use the stats feature a lot. The year-end round up helped me plan how and what I want to read this year. I'm excited for the advanced stats that are in the works. I also appreciate that I can customize my use of the app. There's something here for every reader.

Bugs Galore!. I saw this new reading app being suggested on TikTok so I thought to check it out. I downloaded the app and began to create an account and decided to also import my info from Goodreads. It stated that it may take some time and I’ll receive an email once complete. While waiting, I took their book recommendation survey and was really enjoying it and getting exciting to play around on the app. I got an email saying the import was done as well. Once I finished the survey, the app got stuck on a loading page. It wouldn’t change and so I force closed the app. I went to re-open the app and the loading screen was still their even after I force closed it. I waited and eventually it opened back up to the homescreen but it logged me out. I tried logging back in, but an error popped up saying that the page isn’t working. As a new user, this puts me off and I cannot say whether I’ll continue to use or even attempt to navigate this app as it isn’t working at all. Please fix it!

My favorite book/reading app. Search for books (owned and not) by mood - way cool! Tell Story Graph content you’re not interested in and there will be an warning icon in the book info - so helpful! especially when your tbr list is hundreds of books long…so many books not enough time. You can be connected to other readers and stuff going on in the site or it can just be your personal reading/book tracker - great to have the choice The Stats - TOTALLY FUN! You can look at stats any time, how many books, how many in each mood, pages, format, pace. And lots of different compare features. The developers routinely seek input from users so this is an app built for readers. Thank you Story Graph!

Download this app right now!. Life-changing sounds dramatic, but between StoryGraph and Libby, I’ve rediscovered my love of reading and read almost 200 books since I started on StoryGraph a little over a year ago, from finishing maybe 2 books per year before that. Multiple aspects of StoryGraph - helpful graphs or fun reading challenges helped remind me that I feel better when I do more reading than watching TV. Things StoryGraph is great at, versus other platforms you might be considering: 1. Not full of ads. Clean, pleasing aesthetic. 2. You don’t have to pay to have a useful, functional experience. 3. You can engage with the community aspects as much or as little as you want. 4. Content warnings include enough categories to be useful, and the community can submit additional warnings, which you can browse in a spoiler-free way. 5. The graphs are fun and useful in learning more about your own reading habits, and may encourage you to read more if that’s your thing. 6. It’s Black-founded and run, not owned by a certain megacorp. 7. Migration from GoodReads is easy, if you’re worried about losing your past data! Cons: It’s a newer app, with a small but incredible team, so there are some small bugs, but they’ve been incredible at responding to suggestions and adding features. The most recent redesign looks great! Thank you, StoryGraph!

App feature. BIG fan of this site and how everything is set up. I have similar notes about updating the community section to see more of what your friends are currently reading, updates, etc. however my biggest complaint about the app is switching tabs. I hope I explain properly, but when switching to different tabs of the app (like going from home to the community page) it appears as a new page almost? And if you were to accidentally swipe right (or intentionally I guess), it takes you back to the original section you were on. It’s a small thing, but it makes the app feel less smooth for some reason. Like it makes sense for the feature to be present when you are going through things within the same tab (like searching for someone in the community section and then swiping to go back to the main section of the page) but not to move between tabs. Geez I hope that makes sense. Anyways I love what you guys have done so far! And I’m excited to see the improvements as they come!

Sooo much potential… but a few things:. There's a ton of potential to be better than Goodreads (especially aesthetically), but it's a little ways off for me to stop using GR altogether and pay for plus. 1) Most importantly, kindle integrates with GR - that's gonna be hard to beat, as I primarily read via kindle. I know this will never happen, but it’s a HUGE perk of GR. 2) I want to see the cover of the book I'm currently reading on the home page - it feels a little less immersive when I just see the text. 3) I'd rather have my "up next" books on the home page rather than random selections from my TBR. (Also I'd love to see smaller covers so we can see more than just two without scrolling) 4) The book ratings need to be more visible. Not only do you have to click on a book to see the rating, you then have to scroll all the way down to the bottom. If you want this to be a true GR alternative, make the book ratings more accessible. 5) Please give me a Home Screen widget! (Make it a plus feature even) being able to see the book I’m reading and update progress from my home page would be so nice. 6) too much negative space in the app. Everything needs condensed a little bit so you can see more on one “page,” without scrolling.

the best book tracking app!. i have used a lot of book tracking apps and this one is by far the best. i love the tags feature, the in depth review options, and the recommendations are spot-on. the stats are so cool to see too! most importantly, i really appreciate how interactive the team behind this app is with users. unlike GoodReads, i know there is love behind this app and there are constant improvements and new features being added (i am so in love with the Buddy Read feature, especially!!!). the transparency is something you don’t see everyday, and i really value that. there’s a face behind the app, and it’s not just some mega corp. love supporting storygraph and will always recommend it to all of my fellow bookworms!

The app has a lot of potential!. Update: well I’m not always the brightest crayon in the box! Swiping to navigate never occurred to me but I appreciate the devs reaching out. Still adjusting as I’m a long time Goodreads user but I love the potential of this app and am exciting to begin using it more regularly. I’ve been playing around with this app for a short while. I really like how informative it is. Like other readers being able to vote if the book is more character or plot driven is such a cool idea. However navigating this app is so frustrating. Why are there no back buttons or arrows? Once I tap on reviews for a book, I have to go back to the homepage and look up the book again because there is no way to just go back to the page of the book I was looking at. Please please please give us some back arrows and make the app easier to navigate. Such a little thing that has been so annoying.

Love many of the features but others are lacking. I love the statistics available, recommendations, ability to rate with half and quarter stars, and the yearly wrap up. I’ve been using this app as my place to track my reading for over a year now. However, some features are just insanely lacking. It’s hard for me to be specific in just a review, but there are aspects of the user interface that are frankly not intuitive or too primitive when compared to competitors. The most annoying thing I’ve encountered though is how the community features work. For the longest time, I’d assumed that the feature for adding friends was broken but it turns out….. you have to opt IN for people to send you friend requests. This has been pretty annoying because now whenever one of my friends downloads StoryGraph I have to ask them to go out of their way and turn that on so we can be friends. That’s just adding friction to making people active users and is pretty ridiculous imo. I overall think this app serves its overall purpose as a book tracker pretty well, but little things like this make me question if I (and others) will continue using this platform long term.

Hi, I hope the developers see this!. I love the functionality of this app for myself, however I think it could use improvements in the social area and the aesthetic areas. It’s very clean and easy to read which is great, but the app could benefit from more “photogenic” layouts like letterboxd. People love sharing screenshots of their top movies or their recently watched movies paired with the movie posters, and it gets people to download the app. I would like to be able to share what I’m doing on StoryGraph in an aesthetically appealing way so that more of my friends want to get the app and join in on the fun 😃 updates to profiles so that they display more reading stats, favorites, to read piles etc. for other people would be excellent! Additionally, on the social side, it would be nice if the timeline to see what my friends are reading/adding to their to read pile/ratings/etc. was more easy to see. The updates are rather large. It can also be hard to find people, and I’m confused about the difference between following people and being friends with them? What are the differences between the two statuses? Anyways!! Love the app, great alternative for goodreads. All my critiques come from a place of love, I really hope the app continues to grow and improve and eventually becomes a more social platform for sharing and discussion because more people need to read!! And reading is fun when you get to share it 🫶🏼

Love it!. It’s so much more user friendly and less likely to crash than goodreads, I’ve been slowly drifting to using sg only because of that. I love all of the data and stats you can track in the app, and while I hope to be able to get a plus subscription when I have a more stable income, the free version is great and still gives you a lot of features. Reading challenges are so much easier to find and join, and there’s a lot of great and varied challenges to choose from! My two biggest (and really only) gripes are that I can’t sort reviews by rating or comment on them, which are features of goodreads I enjoy. Aside from that, I would still recommend StoryGraph over goodreads, I really hope it becomes the new major tracking and review platform

Great way to track reading!. I love The StoryGraph! It’s an amazing way to track my reading and discover new books. The recommendations are truly great and the thorough review process is certainly appreciated! I can quickly read through reviews and see if this book is for me right now as opposed to getting a third of the way through and DNFing. My one room for improvement is the social aspect of the app. On other apps like Letterboxd or even GoodReads it’s easy to see who your friends are friends with/following by going to their profile. This would make it much easier to find friends and people you know, especially with only being able to search usernames and not full names (which I appreciate!). Thanks for creating such a great app!

Essential. I adore this app. I use it every single day, multiple times a day, and I couldn’t ask for anything better. Right from the jump, it seamlessly imports all your GoodReads data and lets you move forward right where you left off. I’ve never once thought of going back to GR since finding Storygraph. It’s such a sleeker, more intuitive design, not to mention it allows for endless customization. I particularly like all the stats they offer and the nearly endless ways you can have to filter that information. The reading challenges set-up is my favorite, and makes every book so simple to track. This app is light years better than Goodreads in every single way, and best of all, its creator is committed to constantly improving it. Can’t thank her enough for this fantastic creation!

I’m so glad I switched.. I joined StoryGraph in early 2022 and have used it almost every day since. I’ve never really been a fan of the one app I don’t want to name because they’re listening, and finding this app was the answer I was looking for. Is it perfect? No. But I don’t care because it has what I need for my personal reading journey. And I always recommend it to my friends to try. And for anyone complaining about the app from the start of January 2024, you should know this app is run only by three people and their servers were overloaded by how many of you signed up at once. Give them a break and wait an extra day or two, and your account and the app will be fine. Good lord. *eyeroll*

I love this app so much!!. This is definitely one of the top three most used apps on my phone and I can’t say enough good things about it. Importing all my data from Goodreads was so easy to do, the stats are unmatched, the search tools are incredibly advanced, and the ability to pick out your next read based on mood is something you can’t get anywhere else. They’ve just added a new giveaways section which is fantastic as well! I also love how easy it is to participate in and/or create your own reading challenges! There are so many great ones already on the app and it’s been a great way for me to track specific reading goals I have throughout the year. Combined with the unparalleled amount of stats they provide, I can’t think of any parts of my reading that I can’t track with this app! On top of all of this, the incredible (and incredibly small) team is so passionate and dedicated to their work on this app and it’s users. They respond to issues ridiculously fast and utilize the help of volunteer librarians to keep the book data up to date and accurate. I truly can’t name an app that I’ve ever had a better experience with overall!

I (mostly) love it.. StoryGraph is an excellent alternative to Goodreads! I especially like the recommendations. You get personalized recommendations based on books you’ve read and how you’ve rated them. (GR used to have that, but not anymore.) StoryGraph also has better social features. The only improvements I suggest are: 1. automatically move books to your “read” list from “currently reading” when you mark your progress as 100%, and 2. allow custom lists/easier tagging. I’d love to be able to “shelve” my books by genre, audience, etc. more easily than typing in tags each time. A drop-down list of favorite tags to add quickly to any book would be great. Thank you for your response! I appreciate you getting back to me. One more question: how do I get to a tag page?

I use it everyday!. I use this app everyday and it’s not JUST because of the reading streak feature. This app is created for the a true lover of reading whether you like the stats you can see, buddy reads or the recommendations. If you’re using another reading tracking app you may find that not a lot has changed, new features aren’t priority and things are broken. Not with The StoryGraph! The user interface is consistent, so you don’t login with confusion—but things are routinely being done to improve your experience. It’s also not owned by a huge corporation, so you’re supporting someone who cares. There is an import feature too to help transition. This is definitely a favorite app of mine!

Helps me stay motivated to read!. I'd fallen into a years long reading slump before 2020. I started reading again during the pandemic, but I still lacked motivation. Making an account on Storygraph really helped! If you love the feeling of checking things off a to-do list, I think Storygraph will work great for you--every time I finish a book now, I get to check it off, and I get a sense of accomplishment that incentivizes me to pick up another one. I love seeing my stats too, and learning more about myself as a reader, which helps me figure out which books I'm likely to enjoy. I also love that Storygraph shows content warnings, which help me to know if a book is safe for me to go into. Can't recommend this app enough!

Great app for a world that doesn’t need goodreads anymore. Not a review yet bc I just got the app but the icon is not a great sign. It’s nearly the same as the one for BOOKSHELF. 🤔 Update: After using the app for a bit I wanted to update with actual feedback. So far I think the app is clean and smooth as it should be. Not a ton of clicking or tapping around to do things. There’s plenty of thought in making certain things easy (such as tagging a book that’s in the results list of a search instead of having to tap the title and enter the book and tag it and then go back). Adding goodreads was pretty smooth (shout out to the fast customer service rep who explained to me what I was doing wrong.) Adding lots of ratings and reviews in at once could probably be more streamlined but that’s not a thing people need to do often (maybe think about what students do at the end of a semester after reading a ton of books? Some ability to mass tag and date.) The recommendations seem to be very astute. I like the ability to pick things I DON’T want to read and even mark authors as “not interest” (though books with dual authors need a specific button for each author on the recommended results page. Just bc i dislike/distrust one author doesn’t mean I have an opinion on their coauthor. They just have bad taste in friends.

The app is good, but imports are difficult. I am a fan of the app. I like how it focuses on the topics the reviewers put it under rather than ratings. I also like the stats feature it provides and how comprehensive it is. However, I imported my data from goodreads since I’d been using that app to track my reading for about 5 years. The dates when I read things is one of the most important things I keep track of, but the imported books do not say the correct dates for when I read things. Because of this, I can’t look at any of the stats for the books I imported data for. In 2020, I read over 100 books but the app says I read 1. This past year I read about 34 books and the stats only show data for the most recent ones I put in manually. Because of this, I don’t know how likely it is that I will consistently be using this app over goodreads.

Made the switch & never looked back. I don’t remember where I heard about this app, but it was an easy changeover and I’ve been so much happier with how this app works for me as a reader! It’s clean, fun, and having a user-centered development roadmap makes me feel so ~special~. I’ve converted several fellow readers. Additionally, the Plus pricing is reasonable and totally worth it in the context of my budgetary priorities. I love being able categorize books the way I really want to. And with AI products making headlines all the time lately, the machine-learning-generated “what to read next” suggestions in this app are a useful tool WITHOUT all the ethical baggage. If you’re not a Storygraph user yet, grab your library card and make the jump!

Good, but not great. I s w e a r . . . If I misclick the add/edit tag button ONE MORE TIME, I am going to LOSE IT. That is, by far, my #1 gripe with this app… closely followed by an absence of a batch edit feature for adding/removing books in bulk from piles and tags. Or an ability to refine recommendations based on tags or the star ratings of read books. Or a “filter by pile” (include/exclude tbr, read, dnf) feature. Or a “stats per star rating” feature, instead of “ratings per book type.” Or a review filtering feature that sorts by star rating, post date, or popularity. Or a “pin tag to top of tag bank” feature. Or a highlight-importing feature. Or an ability to view public tags on a user’s profile and follow/collaborate on them. Or more extensive privacy settings. Or a “recommend to a friend feature” that appears on a friend’s profile and—okay, so maybe I have more than a few suggestions. I’ll stop. I’ll stop.

Pretty good, but recommendations function not intuitive. I switched to mainly using Storygraph, because the toxicity to the social side of Goodreads exhausted me, and the stat and other review features are a plus. But I don’t feel the recommendations section is that intuitive. I tend to read in a lot of broad genres, but within those, I can be picky, and I wish there was a way to account for that. I loved fantasy and romance, but I’m *tired* of getting paranormal and urban fantasy romance recs, because I’m more of an epic fantasy person…with some exceptions, depending on author, tone, characters, etc. Also, I’ve definitely gotten some dark and taboo stuff that isn’t tagged as erotica (a genre I listed as “not interested” in my survey), and it happens way more often than I’d like. Also, why am I being recommended stuff I already have as “want to read?” There’s an option to not see them when doing a filter search, so why would they come up in standard recommendations?

Awesome! (4.5 stars). This is better than Goodreads in my opinion. The homepage is accessible and easy to navigate. I like the quiz at the beginning so that your recommendations are personalized and you can change it at any time. It is quite obvious that the creator loves to read and knows what their doing. It also has reading challenges just like Goodreads. There is stats that shows you what genre, author, mood, ect. that you read the most; which I don’t think goodreads has. Another thing that this has that goodreads doesn’t is detailed reviews. Instead of 1 star increment ratings, it’s in increments of .25. You can also fill out a checklist about the book and submit that with the review. And one of the most useful things is that if you already have an account on goodreads, you can transfer all of your information to StoryGraph. There are a few small things, though. The page count on books is always around 20 pages over what the actual page count is. And since this is a smaller reading app, there isn’t any actual author reviews or anything. This is obviously not the apps fault though. Great app overall!

Great! !!UPDATED!!. This is such a cool app and I, personally, like it better than Good Reads. The UI could use some work but it’s relatively easy to navigate. The problem for me is that it just stopped working after a day. When I open it, it’s a blank gray screen. I tried closing the app, turning off my phone, redownloading the app, and nothing is working. Maybe it’s a me problem but everything else on my phone is working fine. I would give it 5 stars if I could fix this :( !! UPDATED REVIEW !! I am now aware that there is only one developer and they had a bunch of sign ups and had to take it down a few times to keep it going. It’s working great and I appreciate the quick response!!! Love this app. Thanks to the creator :) <3

Rapidly becoming my go-to book tracking platform!. I’ve always been a reader. I started using another platform over a decade ago (pretty much the only one at the time!) but had been having reliability and usability issues with it for about a year when I discovered StoryGraph and decided to test it out. It has grown by leaps and bounds since then, has more features now than “other platforms”, and is a single feature away from becoming my primary choice in every way (and my understanding is that the last feature I rely on elsewhere is already in the works here!!). The customer service I receive from StoryGraph is light years better than other options. The communication from StoryGraph is commendable (especially when you consider they have only a tiny team of employees - small but mighty!). And downtime is honestly a minimum compared to other platforms - a little hiccup recently, during an unprecedented influx of new users when another platform was down, overwhelmed StoryGraph temporarily but it was communicated and fixed in a reasonable time, so if that was your first/only impression, know that it was the ONLY time I have experienced an outage in the 15 months I’ve been actively using it. I LOVE this platform more every new feature release. Give it a real opportunity to win you over as well!

Great reading app.. I really enjoy this app and it’s a great way to track your books. The pie chart showing the different reading moods is my favorite. One feature I think would elevate the app is an easier way to change the format of the book you’re reading. I didn’t realize at first when I searched for a book that I needed to pick the correct version, paperback, hardback, digital etc. When I finally realized it, it wasn’t worth going through and changing everything. You have to delete the book and then re add it as the other format. It would be cool if there was a drop-down to switch formats. Idk if this is even possible as I’m not a developer or tech person, but just a suggestion. Either way, good app, great tracking, and I like the way it looks.

needs work. Going to need a lot of work to adequately compete with goodreads. The stats are great, but that’s about the only improvement. The interface is confusing, and certain pages can only be accessed by several unintuitive clickthroughs. The look of the whole thing just feels outdated as well. The fact that everything, including going “back” to a page, scrolls from the right is just weird. There are lots of covers, page info, and correct editions missing from this database, and searching editions by ISBN has yet to actually work correctly for me. Importing from goodreads made a mess of all of my information; thankfully I don’t have a large library so it only took an hour or so to manually update all of the books that inexplicably were marked as being audiobooks. (The edition noted on goodreads appears to have been fully disregarded in some cases). The reading tracking also needs work. It automatically marks ALL pages as being read on the final day of reading unless you manually track throughout. And it has to be *throughout* because there seems to be no way to back date entries, it will only allow me to add one “journal entry” per day, even if I update it to be for a day last week.

Best Book/Reading App in Existence!. I honestly cannot say enough good things about this amazing app. I have been using it for a couple years now and it just keeps getting better and better. I absolutely love it. It hands down beats good reads or anything else like it. The data is incredible and so much fun to see about everything you read/listen to. I love being able to curate my book collection. I can always look up which books I have and even every single edition I own or have read. The categories are awesome and so useful. I love being able to track what I own vs what I borrow from the library. It is also great to be able to differentiate between physical books, digital, and audiobooks. The app is also incredibly user friendly. I could go on and on. If you love to read you have to try this app!

Came for the books, stayed for the stats. I switched to the Storygraph in 2020 after finding an ad for its website beta app on either Instagram or tik tok! I was already getting fed up with a competitor: the interface was outdated, & new features were scarce. The Storygraph seemed like such a bright shining light, & a great companion to my reading experience. Since 2020, the Storygraph has released so many fun & exciting features, but the base of it is the same: a clean, minimalist interface with as many stats as you could ever hope for! I love the reading challenges, I love that users can search for books based on mood, pace, length, genre, etc. Finding a new book to read has never been easier! The recommendations are not my favorite, but I also do not have the Plus version, so I’m guessing they would be better with the paid subscription. & in all honesty, adding new books to my TBR isn’t really necessary considering how many I already have!

The best reading companion!. I absolutely LOVE StoryGraph and tell all of my friends to download it. I’m a nerd for data and stats and stuff like that, so I love getting to track all my reads throughout the year. I love all the reading challenges and how easy it is to join and add books. I’m always organizing my TBR and love that you can choose different editions and select which ones you own in order to get even more data about what you’re reading. They’re always releasing new features and keep you up to date with a fun newsletter. It’s also really cool how you can add friends and see what they’re reading and their ratings for different books that you search for. I think the way you review books on StoryGraph is great too. As a mood reader, it’s nice to see if a book is “dark” or “lighthearted” or “tense” when deciding what to read next. I know this review is scattered and rambling but I just love StoryGraph and all its little details so much. ❤️

A great independent site + app. I’ve been searching high and low for an alternative to Goodreads—for some reason, I wanted *all* of the same features so that I didn’t feel as if I were missing out on something. What I didn’t realize is how much those features drive me up a wall! I genuinely love Storygraph because it has helped me fall back in love with reading, not just *talking* about reading. Its goals are fun but not obnoxious to check in with, its catalogue is ever-growing, and its design is far more relaxing than Goodreads. Additionally, it means a lot to me that Storygraph is independent. I plan to subscribe after I finish cataloguing my library, and I urge you to do so as well. It’s not often that we find a website & amazing group of designers like the team behind Storygraph. They are transparent, creative, and hold a relationship with those that frequent the site. Cheers to more reading, with more vivacity than ever!

Disappointed. Many credible websites credited this app with being an alternative to good reads. I downloaded it with the upmost confidence in it and was left utterly disappointed in it. I have all of the books I have read in the past couple of years in the Notes app and I just type it in. Recently I have been wanting to convert to an app, so I looked up suggestions. I began to input all of the books and it took me over an hour. And to my dismay, it had tracked all of the books but it didn’t appear in the graph, which is kind of the whole reason I wanted this over goodreads, because it can provide me with a graph. I have waited more than a week to see if it would load and it didn’t. Not worth it, DO NOT waste your time with this. There are many other alternatives which I will now proceed to download after I DELETE THIS APP. OMG IM SO STUPID I WAS LOOKING AT THE WRONG THING IM SO SRY STORY GRAPH I GAVE U A BAD REVIEW FOR NO REASON

Almost great. I really love a lot of aspects of this app’s functionality around reviews since it gives a much fuller picture than a simple star rating. Personally that’s a much bigger draw for me than the ability to give fractional stars, but since they’re there I do also make good use of them. I haven’t made use of the reading challenges yet, but that’s on my list for this year. There are a few weird things with the design of the app that make it difficult to find things. For some reason, I always have a hard time remembering how to get to my own reviews to look at and edit them. I also have not been able to finish any of the handful of books I started after seeing them on their recommendation engine. Perhaps I just need to get more reading history into it, but the books I’m being recommended all seem to have very mediocre ratings and few to no reviews. On the one hand, it’s nice to not be recommended just a list of NYT bestsellers, but their current recommendation algorithm seems to be swinging too far in the other direction.

absolutely wonderful. the app is so well designed i like that’s it’s independent and the content warnings feature is good thank you

My favourite bookish app. I used to use goodreads but I felt that it was too focused on the social aspects rather than tracking my own reading habits, if you like goodreads but it’s not quite what you are looking for, you should absolutely give StoryGraph a go! The buddyread function has been great for my bookclub, my habits around reading have massively improved, and who doesn’t love a good graph!! Definitely my favourite bookish app

Love this app!. My friend and I always use this app when we buddy read (which is a lot) and it’s perfect. It doesn’t allow spoilers so if one of the people you are reading is up to say 50% of the book and you are only at 25% you can see the comments they have made until you too are at 50%. It’s perfect! My friend and I are both avid bookstagrammers and always recommend it to our friends for buddy reads and reading in general. The only thing I don’t like is how slow it can be.

Love the app. I am loving this app! It’s super easy to use. Definitely considering moving from Goodreads I just wish the app had a section for books that you “want to buy”/ “Wishlist”.

The best!!. I love this app so much, I have always been a big reader but never gelled with any reading app as well as I have with StoryGraph. It’s so user-friendly and beautiful. I love it!

annotate feature should be added. love the app but should add a feature to annotate book for people like myself that don’t want to annotate in our physical books

Way better than good reads. This is so easy to use and I love how it does it’s recommendations!!!! I love this and I couldn’t recommend this more

Love it. I love this app and its creator. So much thought has gone into it and it continually improves in really considerate ways. I’m a Pro member and I recommend it to all my bookish friends.

Love it!. Really enjoying this app so far, but something just seems a bit off about it? While on my laptop it’s great but it doesn’t look that good on my phone. Aside from that, I don’t find the stats tracker to be all that useful - very cool, for sure, but I would much prefer the search function to be at the bottom instead of it, or perhaps in addition to.

Average. Average

Love this app. I’ve been using StoryGraph to track my reading all year through the website and it’s absolutely fantastic, so many amazing features and so easy to use

great app! but-. amazing in every way, only thing is, can you add ‘adventure’ as one of the genre options for the survey. its the genre i read most, and since it isnt in there, not a lot of the recommendations apeal to me. not too urgent but would be great! thanks 😊

Book Club TBR. I love the app and even got my friend on so we could start a book club! We would just love to be able to create a separate”bookshelf” for you joint TBR rather than it all going into our regular TBR. Is there a way that you can incorporate TBR bookshelves where you can categorise your TBR. Otherwise 4.5 stars! Love it 😊

app good!!!!. I love this app, much prefer it to others! great categorisation and logging features. i love my beautiful stats. only thing is, it’s a little janky. just not very clean and satisfying to use. otherwise, big good!

Love this app BUT. My only problem with this app if that I can’t save and favourite quotes from book I’m reading. Other than that it’s an amazing app

I love this app!. I just came across this app a few days ago and I'm already obsessed - I love seeing stats and being able to connect with friends. The only feedback I have is to adapt the review section to better suit the use of an Apple Pencil.l would love to be able to write out reviews by hand rather than typing - even better if the review section had a ‘notes' area that we would also be able to see in our book library. Other than that it's a really good app!

Great alternative to Goodreads. Easy to use, great functionality, and importantly to me not owned and run by Amazon.

Loving the app!. My friend recently recommended this app to try out and have been obsessed since then! It’s so interesting being able to view my stats on what books I read! A few suggestions to improve the app would be a function to scan the book title instead of manually searching and fixing the transitions between opening book profiles and other tabs (stats, profile etc).

Fantastic!. My favourite book tracking app. It has so many features and flexibility, but you can also keep it simple and just track read / want to read. It’s an independently run business, so I feel connected to the creators and coders, and have input about new features!

My favourite book-tracking app!. Nadia has developed the most incredible app! With the ability to rate and review books, see what friends are reading, get recommendations, and access so much data about my reading life, I have never had so many books on my TBR.

Brilliant for book and graph lovers. I legit read just to make the charts more colourful. This is a brilliant app. Please use this I need more people on this. I also work in a bookstore and literally use this to find similar books, and let readers/customers know the vibe of the book (pace, category etc) I love

Stats and filters!. This app is great for organizing your books, I love that you can use filters to search for books (really handy for sorting through your TBR). There’s also individualized stats available which is a great way to visualize your reading tendencies. I love this app.

really good app , wish it had a smoother user experience. i love this app and it’s been v. helpful for keeping me on track for reading. i love seeing my friends reviews on books. it’s v. easy to post my own reviews too and i loveeeee the progress charts so much !! my only feedback is i wish we didnt have the loading screen anytime we switch pages. it makes the app seem like a slow website instead of a useful app. also constantly clicking back pages is annoying. its not smooth, it makes it seem laggy and disjointed.

Best Book App!. A really great app!

A book lover’s best friend. I absolutely adore The StoryGraph. Heaps of features and stats to keep you reading, user-friendly interface, amazingly good recs for future reads and super-responsive devs who you just know really love books and reading too! Their commitment to the growing TSG community shines through. Highly recommend (seriously, leave that other place - you can import all your stuff from there and you won’t look back)

White screen?. Downloaded and opened to nothing but a white screen. Redownloaded several times same issue.

Baffled by the good reviews. Presumably the developers Mum. As an app that’s primary purpose is to log the books you read you might imagine that it would, well, log those books. It doesn’t though. At least not with any consistency. Tried to add my second book and never showered in the list. A couple of hours later I had read it about 8 times. Deleted 7 of those and returned to never having read it. Added it back in once, never to be seen again. You know what, notes and iCloud was clunky but it worked which is better than being a bit less clunky and not working. So gone back to that.

LOVE this app. I’ve been using the web version for about a year and I’m obsessed so was thrilled when they finally announced the app. It’s super functional and user-friendly. The logic makes sense! I love love love all the stats. It’s the best, most reader friendly platform out there. Built by and for readers!

Great reading app!. The graphs are so cool and the recommendations are spot on

Great stats and tracking options. Love this app, so many more features and stats than the other popular reading tracker app. My personal fave is tracking minutes from audiobooks! It’s also helpful to track countries or languages if you’re trying to read more diverse books. The app is pretty user friendly, but there are some things that require searching for and I ended up having to google a bit as there doesn’t seem to be a help or FAQ page anywhere?

Literally one of my favourite apps. Before I heard of StoryGraph I struggled to get into reading for myself after reading educationally. But now this app tracks heaps of different things and has me excited to update my books even when I finish a chapter. The buddy read mechanism is so cool. I also don’t feel like I’m unfairly disadvantage by having the unpaid version, which makes me want to pay for it more!! Just wish it had my currency to go for it. But either way, it’s an amazing app that has so much love put into it. You’ll love the yearly reading wrap ups promise!!!

Great App. I love StoryGraph, it is a fantastic app, however it does lose one star for the following reason; young adult is not a genre. I know I’m not the only person bothered by this. It is an age group/category not a genre and it throws off the stats that this app is otherwise so good at giving you. Please, please fix this, apart from that one gripe please keep doing what you’re doing it’s a fantastic app!

It’s really that good. I looooove storygraph. Honestly, there i no going back to good reads. Love the new layout, love the ability to DNF and . star options. One of my favourite apps!

Brilliant book tracker & more!. I’m loving The Storygraph, it’s a brilliant app! So many fantastic features, with a beautiful & simple user interface. I love all the ways you can get reading stats, and the ability to join reading challenges is a huge bonus. Only thing I’m waiting on is a barcode scanner for scanning in my books and ensuring I’m tracking & cataloguing the correct edition. It would be a great addition to the recent new features. If you love books & reading, and looking for a book tracking app, I highly recommend this one!

Stop adding AI features. No more generative AI features if you respect authorship and understand that the act of reading is a meeting of minds. Please.

Bruh. Each page takes about 3 minutes to load

Great way to track stats and get recommendations. I really love this app. It is a great way to track your reading and see a heap of interesting breakdowns of your data. It is also a terrific way to find new books to read!

Amazing features but wonky UI. I’m begging for the developers of this app to please upgrade the UI or at least make it user friendlier. This app has been growing popular due to social media exposure and as much as I want to fully switch to here from the other older popular app, the glitchy UI and too complicated pages are a big turn off. The features are great don’t get me wrong, but the execution needs a lot of work.

Amazing App!!. So many great features

Great app with lots of features. I love that this app feels like it was designed by readers for readers. I’ve been extremely happy since migrating over to this app in 2020. I love how easy it is to add books to reading challenges, and I love the DNF option.

Storygraph is SO good and it keeps getting better!. I have been using the Storygraph for a few years now and highly recommend it. Importing your GoodReads data is easy. Do it and then forget that clunky, Amazon-owned app! The Stroygraph has a responsive to users: these are real people, who read books, and want their users to be happy. And this one certainly is!

Great app!!. One of the best I tried, works flawlessly.

Ok. I really want to like the app, however it’s not very user friendly/ intuitive. I will keep trying and holding out hope lol

Meh. Was in love with the app for the 3 days it worked. Now it doesn’t launch. Just opens and sits on a grey screen forever. Thanks for the ideas for my own app though hahah

Better than good reads. This app is much better than good reads. However it no longer opens. I just get a white screen.

Unbelievably Good - now with Dark Mood. I’ve had this app now for 18 months and it has been a game changer for me. I’m discovering books I have never thought of before.

Must have!!. I am very glad I made the switch to StoryGraph! I love the way it presents my reading data, plus the myriad of other features such as Buddy Reads. I’ve been trying to convince all my friends to transition to this tool - it’s very easy to do. If you’ve been thinking about it, now’s the time!

Love. The only thing missing for me with story graph is that we dont have widgets! Everything else is amazing 🫶

Do you read? Then download this!!. Fantastic app for avid and occasional readers. I love the graphs it creates, and the challenges from other readers. I think this app has made me read more often too.

Love this app. I wanted to try a new book app other than Goodreads. I figured I might find one I like more. And I did! I love the various reading challenges, the fact you can buddy read and find various read alongs, and that it can personalize whether or not you might enjoy a book. Plus I’m supporting a non Amazon book app.

Game Changer!. I am so happy I found Storygraph to help me track my reading. I really enjoy the data you build as you record your books - it’s helped me to hone in on the genres and moods that I enjoy but also branch out to try things I would likely never read. I appreciate all of the changes they’ve made since the app was created, especially dark mode and the inclusion of a “did not finish” option (where you can leave yourself a comment as to why you stopped reading!!) Future me loves the DNF option. Truly, everything they’ve done so far has only made the app more accessible and helpful. I can’t wait to see what else they come up with!

Fantastic! 🤓. If you love reading and if you love keeping track of your reading/if you love stats, then this is the app for you. The free version of the app is fantastic and it keeps getting better as more features are added. I’m very happy to use it instead of Goodreads which is owned by Amazon. I’d much rather support a great small business started and owned by a woman of colour in the UK. It’s simply fantastic and everything I could want and need in an app like this. I especially love the end of year wrap up stats.

Amazing, remember it’s a work in progress!. So much better than Goodreads. The recommendations fit so perfectly with my reading habits, I love that you can give ratings by increments of 0.25, and the content warnings are a must! I also love that from when I started using the app about a year ago, a number of changes have been made to increase user experience. GR hasn’t changed once in all the years I have been using it. The developers are are a lovely little team that work incredibly hard to make meaningful updates. So if something is a not working for you, chances are there are plans to change it. Also the volunteer librarians that update the book data are truly wonderful!

How I wanted goodreads to be. All the functions I wanted in GR are present here ☺️ Also their recommendations are -chef kiss-!! I have found a lot of great books like this! I only wish the app didn't open a new window everytime I tap on a tab. While I can go back to the previous tab, if you tap on another tab it keeps building on top of every tab and becomes confusing (and wastes more of my data >_<) But it's just but a small complain :) Everything else is good!

Great for reading tracking. Half star options, no pushing you to buy books. Quiet, simple, like a library. End of the year wrap up gives you all your data with awesome graphs. Fantastic alternative to the other main book tracking app owned by a conglomerate. I ditched that other app recently and haven’t looked back.

Best Book App!!!. This app continually gets better and better. The interface is easy to use and looks amazing! Dark Mode FTW! I love seeing what I have read, what I have listened to, and seeing how my moods change with what I am reading - this is a visual geeks' dreams come true app. I can't wait to see what the developers have planned for future updates and changes.

App not opening. I was recommended to download this app but for some reason when I downloaded it opens and it’s a white screen for forever. I can’t even setup an account or get started. It extremely frustrating.

Fantastic. Ive used good reads in the past and story graph supersedes it in practically every way. Most importantly, the recommendations on Story Graph are 1000x more accurate than any other book-social site.

Missing some key features. It's ok as a book tracking app. The interface is sleek and minimalist unlike goodreads. I would love using the app even more if it were a bit more user friendly. Like having a link to your friends list from your profile. Instead you have to access your app through the community tab which isn't really intuitive. It would be nice to be able to add your friends to buddy reads by tapping a button beside their name. The only way you can currently add new users to buddy reads is through the buddy read page. The font size and buttons throughout the app also feel too small. It really should be bigger to accommodate those with vision problems and make it more accessible. Also it makes no sense as to why you have to scroll down to the bottom to view the book rating. It should be at the top right beside the title. That would be more user friendly. This last one's a bonus that would take it to the next level but I would love to see a feature that allows you to link your kindle account and automatically track your reading progress.

Excellent app & site for readers with caring and lively devs. I’ve been using the Storygraph for several years now and it is by far and away my favourite book app. I use it to learn about my reading habits, keep track of my books, make recommendations to friends, and do buddy reads. I have a long enough TBR already, but I hear their recommendations are excellent, and I often use the robust filtering system to find what I want to read next in my pile. I’ve also been following Nadia, the CEO, and the progress she and the (very small) dev team make via the newsletter, and it’s been a delight seeing the app grow. The team takes user feedback seriously and is constantly making improvements. Highly recommend!

Love, love this app. I switched to StoryGraph in early 2022 after getting progressively more frustrated with “that other app”…the terrible ad-cluttered interface, lack of new development, and problematic ownership. TSG is a breath of fresh air and has literally changed my reading habits. I LOVE being able to see trends in my reading with the awesome graphs and to track what and how I want. The team, though small, is creative and incredibly responsive to user feedback. Cannot say enough about this app or its developers —I happily call myself a TSG evangelist!

Won’t open. All day now my StoryGraph app won’t open. It’s just a blank white screen. I’ve deleted and reinstalled and reset my phone… nothing is working.

A terrific app for readers!. I’ve been using this app (and the preceding website) for more than a year. It’s a terrific fit for how I like to record my reading and find new books. Unlike its Amazon-owned main competitor, StoryGraph makes sure I see the content of the book and its pluses and minuses before I get to a contextless star rating. If I want that, I can jump to it easily—but I really like getting the nuance first! In particular, I have found that certain categories of books that I adore (books with queer themes, BIPOC stories, books about women) often receive lower star ratings than their whiter, straighter, male comparators. Even though I know to account for that, the StoryGraph’s nuance-first setup helps ensure I don’t lose out on trying a great book because of those factors. Plus, you can do half and quarter stars in your own ratings!

Cluttered, unintuitive. Buttons unresponsive, cluttered interface that’s difficult to navigate. Used it for a total of 10 minutes before realizing it was essentially a static web pag.

Amazing!. Book lovers unite! This app is absolutely fantastic. You can definitely tell that a reader created this app. The features are so cool! My favourite by far is the partial stars for rating books. I can't imagine all the work that has gone into making this what it is. Looking forward to future updates!

Excellent app with a very responsive team!. I enjoy this app so much - it’s a better fit for me than goodreads. It’s easy to use and when I encountered an issue their team responded to my email super fast. And if you find an incorrect book entry in their library, there is a form to submit and their team fixes it fast.

Best Book Tracking App. I have used other apps, one in particular for many years, but this app is by far superior and has become my go to. It has a more in depth review process (optional, you can stick to basics if that’s your preference!) It has tracking, updates, and it graphs so many different things about the books your reading (so much more than just hey I read x amount of books) You can add and edit books yourself, which is great when I want to add a short story from an anthology without having to say “yeah I read this 3000 page book but actually only 30 pages” There is a built in function for reading challenges, buddy reads, goals, giveaways and so much more! There are more and more giveaways being added, and hopefully more publishers and authors notice this app on the rise and join in on the fun over here too! The best part of this app is how engaging and kind the founder is! I cannot believe the work that has been put in and wish them nothing but success.

Big fan. Big fan of this app but I do wish I could add more than 5 genres for recommendations. I read a wide variety of books and I would like recommendations for all of them. I find my self having to edit the genres often to get more recommendations. A charts feature too would be a neat thing to have, something like Letterboxd or rate your music where you can see what users rate the highest and see what people are currently consuming

Love the stats BUT…. I use Storygraph as my only book tracker — their stats feature is excellent, love all the charts and graphs. BUT i still use Goodreads for their reviews because I like being able to filter by star ratings and keywords. GR’s pagination of reviews is also more practical than SG’s endless scrolling (i always lose my place!). It’s also easier to go through a person’s shelves on GR because of, once again, the pagination.

Glitches all the time. I’ve had the app for 2 days. It has glitched out on me more than it’s worked. Tried to import my goodreads library, didn’t work. Tried open the app, I get a blank screen. Refresh it? Blank screen. Delete the app and redownload? Blank screen. This is definitely not making me want to keep the app.

Unusable. As others have said this app is completely unusable. Simple things like deleting an in-progress read are some how impossible? The tabs make no sense. The lay out of everything is not intuitive and there’s so much extra junk. We want to track and rate books! I don’t care to see books that were popular like 6mo-3yo ago on a random recommended page. I hope they fix the app because I’d love to fully move over from Goodreads as I have long standing beef with their bonkers app too, but it’s the better of the two as of now.

Love StoryGraph!. I’ve been using the app since 2021. Love the challenges, book tracking and stats!

Glich. This review would normally be a 5 star but unfortunately there’s a glich in the app where I updated an owned book to recently read and it doesn’t show up and register that I have completed it and it only happens with some books. Please fix this!

Amazing Replacement for GoodReads. This App is BIPOC owned and a small business. The small team made an amazing replacement for GoodReads that allows readers to track books, complete reading challenges, do read alongs, and do buddy reads. They are constantly are updating the app and everyone can see the updates they’re working on. Plus members can leave feedback about updates that are coming and provide suggestions that are actually listened to! My favourite part about The StoryGraph is the detailed reading breakdowns and ability to set multiple goals and join multiple reading challenges that users can create themselves and are easy to join.

so many issues.. this app was not easy to use for me. i made an account with no issues but when i try to go back into the app later, it signs me out! i put in the correct password because i have it saved and it says wrong password so… i have to go reset my password. no, no, there’s a problem with resetting my password, i try to reset it again and it works! yay! i’m logged in! great :) next day, go back into the app… logged out again for absolutely no reason and have the same problems AGAIN.

We need the notifications!!. I love it, especially the buddy read fonction! We’re a bunch of girls in a book club and use it a lot! One thing missing is the notifications!!!! We have them inside the app but no options of having a phone notification when someone added a comment 😭 Pleaseeeee let us have badges at least!

I keep getting logged out. If it’s an app that I download (rather than a site that I visit) I want to log in once: when I first download the app. Not weekly. So annoying. This is the main reason I haven’t deleted Goodreads. The stats are the greatest feature tbh.

Might be time to retire GoodReads. Finally! GoodReads has been going downhill recently and I’ve been looking for a replacement. Unlike GoodReads this app is actually optimized for phones and it even has a website too. I was so glad I could transfer all of my GoodReads info over. I love looking through all the little graphs of all my reading stats. The info on the books is so much more in-depth and let’s you pick tags, content warnings and more. You can also still add books and add more info which GoodReads has removed for the average user. This is so helpful for me since I read a lot of digital comics and they aren’t usually on these sorts of reading platforms. My only input is that I would love to put more customization to my profile like adding a favourite book to the top of my page or having a status. Having your age/gender/etc would also be fun. Having badges would also be neat to show off to friends. I can’t wait to see what else this team will bring to their app. Very excited !!

Favorite tracking up BUT. I love this app it’s been my go to for years, best tracker on the market. But sometimes it buffers like crazy, and it has some lagging. Recently the app hasn’t even been loading.

Great but buggy BUT STILL DOWNLOAD IT!!!!!!. This is a super easy to use app and I love the layout! However, I find there are a lot of glitches that don’t ruing anything, but it’s just a bit annoying. I try to enter my pages read from the Home Screen, but they never take so I have to go into the add dates to do it. Also the app sometimes just doesn’t open?? It usually fixes itself after a day but i almost use this app daily so it’s annoying that this keeps happen. However (again) this is still a great app and much better than Goodreads!!!!!

Crashes once a day. The app frequently crashes, even though I keep it up to date. Going to the website is much more reliable.

Better than Goodreads. This app is definitely made by people who read and love books. They are constantly updating and adding awesome new features. They also take suggestions for updates from their users! And you get the added bonus of not supporting Amazon and instead supporting a small indie company!

I love the StoryGraph. It’s a great way to track your reading, and has much better usability and features than similar apps/sites. The stats features and the yearly wrap-up are some of my personal favourites, but the way they do recommendations is also great!

Better than Goodreads- but still room for improvement!. Some things I would love to see: - A spot on the top of my profile that showcases my top 5 reads of all time. - The ability to make lists/ folders. - A quicker view of overall rating when browsing, rather than having to click on the title. - I find the interface all a bit BIG.. text size, etc. Would love to see it slimmed down to look a bit more sophisticated and sleek. Basically… Letterboxd but for books.

Forget Goodreads, get this. After being a Goodreads user for years, I finally got fed up of Amazon closing websites left and right (DP Review, Book Depository) and just being an overall nuisance to humanity. So I wanted to give Storygraph a try. I should have done it sooner. Importing all my info (shelves, reviews, etc.) from Goodreads was a breeze and Storygraph is more modern and gives way better stats. Plus it’s not Amazon, a really big plus. Try it, you’ll love it!

Too many glitches. I absolutely loved this app but now it glitches all the time. It’s so bad I can’t even properly use app anymore :(

Good app but strange glitch. Don’t really know what is happening I get a white screen and can’t access the app. I have tried resetting my phone and the app. Still a good app but don’t understand why I can’t access.

A No Brainer. I love this app! It is simple to use and there are so many features. The app developer cares about what HER users want and does her best to accommodate them. I like that I was able to import all of my data from a previously used reading tracker. The future is bright for the story graph. Im excited for updates as they release! Oh, and two words: Dark. Mode. Thank you Nadia! 🤍

Amazing App that does it all. I really don’t have anything negative with my experience with this app. They are constantly adding more features (even for the free version) and it feels so much better supporting an independent company. I have used this app for just under a year and I’ve won 2 book giveaways, which is really just an added bonus. Using the buddy read feature is seamless. I RAVE about this app to all of my booky friends.

Amazing reading tracker!. I’ve been using this app to track my reading for a year and a half now and I love it so much! (Prior to this, I used Goodreads for about 10 years.) I love the dynamic stats on StoryGraph and I really appreciate that they are always working on making improvements and adding new features. The recent streak feature in particular has made a huge difference in encouraging me to read more consistently. I would highly recommend this app to anyone looking for a fresh way to track their reading!

Needs more colors and community options. Ok this app is an awesome alternative to goodreads and you can tell it is independant and truly careful with the recommendations (which are amazing) and the CWs which i think is so cool. I think the UI could use more icons and colors because right now its hard to distinguish between things at a glance- everything is white and text based. Also it’d be nice to see books’ ratings/ sort by rating straight away instead of having to dig to see them. Lastly, there needs to be a discussion element added so we can discuss books with eachother, maybe an enhanced bio / profile with more social information as well! I am so excited to see where this app goes!!

Recommendations are really off. The way they want us to setup our recommendations is a bit tedious. We have to select the genres we like and don’t like obviously but they also want us to get more specific by adding in our own words as in to what we like in books. I’m not the best word wise so this makes me stumble a bit. They give examples but it’s still a lot. And they are incorporating a new feature that’s in beta that allows us to also write in our own words the things we don’t like in books. It doesn’t work, but obviously it’s gonna be faulty because it’s beta I guess, but the words I put in that I DON’T like is what tends to make up my recommendations and it’s irking. I wish that when we x out books the system would ask us why we don’t like that particular book, and it can show a list of tropes, themes, characteristics that are particular to that book that we can select, so we can better tailor and filter our recommendations that way, and also it would let the system know to not recommend similar books, but I think when you x out a book it just removes it and adds nothing to the filtering system. I like the interface way better than Goodreads so I’m going to stick it out with this app and hope it incorporates more efficient features.

Not Intuitive Enough for User. Love the concept of this app- but it’s really not user friendly. The hoops I have to jump through to update the books I’ve read is frustrating. It just seems more intuitive and flows better on Goodreads. I think I was also under the impression that it would automatically link with my Goodreads account so when I marked a book as read on Goodreads, it would automatically import to Storygraph after I downloaded and then uploaded my Goodreads books the first time. This isn’t the case and so now I’m manually inputting my read books into 2 apps which isn’t practical for me. Time will tell if it becomes more user friendly. But I think the UX team could really work on this.

Amazing stats & organization. I moved from a big name app to The Story Graph a year ago and haven’t looked back. The Story Graph is innovative! It takes my reading information and puts it all into pleasant to look at and easy to read graphs. Lots of flexibility for ways to organize, tagging, and browsing! Am I looking for a dark adventure as my next read? I can filter my TBR to fit the mood! The Story Graph team is continually working to add features and the customer support is incredible. I highly recommend to anyone who reads any number of books!

Love this app!. I love the functionality of this app and seeing the graphs that are generated. Of course the graphs are only as good as the day input, but StoryGraph makes it so easy to input clean and good data! I don’t care as much about the “social” side of reading apps, so I’m content with the focus on tracking and reporting. I like the challenges, and being able to assign books to a specific prompt within a challenge (and even see what other readers have assigned to that same prompt). I haven’t used as much of the recommendation or AI features yet, but I appreciate them being an option available to me. Finally, I love having an app that isn’t affiliated with a specific bookseller.

LOVEEE. I love this app so much. I think it is better than Good Reads. I track my books, TBR, reading status, reviews, etc on here nonstop. I love the content warnings, the real reviews, and my own personal account with my data in it. The ONLY thing I would love to see that this app doesn’t offer yet, is dark mode for iPhones. I would love it to be dark mode so when I turn off my lights at night, the app doesn’t blind me upon opening! That being said, everything else about this app is great. It does get a little slow, but it’s not slow enough to be a problem.

Love the idea but isn’t intuitive as an app. I downloaded this at the beginning of this year, and have tried using it every day since so this is a first look review. Was excited to see there was a GR alternative but so far with how the app is laid out, I won’t stop using my GR any time soon. The app tries having a simple layout, but that means a lot of things are hidden. Finding my journal on the app today was impossible- I had to go to the website. You have to jump through hoops to find some of the tools you want to use. Updating daily reading pages for the past for a reading challenge has been quite a pain because I had to mark it as currently reading and make a new entry for every day, and then click finished book and then edit the end date. The app really isn’t intuitive or new user friendly. I find the idea of keeping stats wonderful, the way reviews work, and love all the community based and app based reading challenges, so I will be keeping the app and updating it. But I will be using the website for anything more than daily pages read because the app is just too confusing.

Love the app, but bug report. App is hanging when I update one of my reviews, I need to restart the app. Also UI/UX notes: - i went back to goodreads for a bit because I didn’t even realize this app had ratings. I feel like ratings and reviews need to move up from the bottom of the page. - I’m sure you’re aware, but performance needs to improve. One of my main gripes with goodreads is it is super laggy. But the iOS app for storygraph is similarly laggy when eg opening a book’s page. I’m a software dev so I know how hard this is to fix, but I still wanted to flag. - When I sort my “to read” list, click into a book, switch the edition, and then come back out to the list, the sort is reset. - Please let me sort my lists by rating.

Must check out if avid reader. I love this app. It has all the things I want in a tracking app and they’ve been improving and updating consistently. I wish more people used it to see how great it is. So many people still use good reads so I have one friend on StoryGraph 😭 You have reading stats that I always find interesting to look at and you can compare 2 “timelines” such as one month compared to another or even by year. I find it interesting to see how my taste has evolved from different periods. It also has recommendations section and giveaways.

Love this app. My bookclub and myself LOVE this app, better than Goodreads. We absolutely take advantage of the buddy read feature and it’s so nice being able to make comments about our book without spoiling it for everyone else. My only disappointment is we don’t seem to get notifications when our group makes comments or if a new member has been added ect. We get the notification once we open the app but nothing pushed to our phones. Other then that, 10/10 would recommend!

Love the Content Warning section. I started using StoryGraph as an alternative to goodreads. I'm so glad I found this! I was able to import all my book data from goodreads which was very helpful. I particularly like the Content Warning section that is part of every book listing. I can use this information to help me decide if I'm in the mood for a particular book. If I had one request, it would be to see the average rating for each book listed with the summary info when I'm looking at a list of recommendations. I want to quickly clear out low rated books without having to load the page for each book.

LOVE! Even despite the bugs. I love this app. I use it all the time, sometimes just to scroll and find new books! There are a couple bugs in this new update. The dates are off by one day, it doesn’t like up with the calendar. It says I started reading a book on Aug 8 when it was actually Aug 7. It’s like the calendar is just a day ahead. Also, could there be a way to submit that information about a book edition is wrong? I just read a new release, so there’s only one version, but the page numbers are off (actual book only has 304 pages while the app says it has 320) I’m not sure if it counts all the blank pages in the front and back or what, but since those don’t have words on them I don’t think they should be counted. It messes with page tracking too, making it seem like I’ve read way more pages than I actually have. These are just small things I’ve found simply because I’m in the app so much. I recommend it often and love the unique ways to track my goals!!

Order recs by popularity & you’re golden. I LOVE this app but I need one change to make it into the only book app I’ll ever use: Add an option to your recommendations to order by book popularity (an easy way to do this would be to order by # of reviews within the list recommended). The recs are clearly good but a bit irrelevant to what’s mainstream, and I think most want when it comes to recommendations: What will I like that’s also generally agreed-upon to be good (and is therefore popular)? IMO with a few adjustments this recommendations algo could out-compete Goodreads and that’s what I’m hoping for here! Thank you for this excellent app!

Better than you-know-what. Wanted a non-amazon alternative to a certain reading app, and this exactly what I’ve always wanted! It has everything you’d expect and more. The book recommendations in particular are better than any other app I’ve tried, and I love that the review system can be as simple or complex as you want. It doesn’t feel super user-friendly at first, but you come to learn that programs with a lot of features will often have to sacrifice simplicity, and you get used to it very quickly. I love it!

function issues. i want to like this app so badly, and i will probably continue to use it after i post this review cause i want to support them and i hope they improve. i like the idea of the app and all the features. but im over things just not lining up properly or not working. i’ve had so many issues with trying to log my page numbers and it not saving or it will switch the date of the data entered, sometimes to a date that hasn’t even happened yet. i’ve also had continued issues with loading, and the app randomly signs me out sometimes. they seem to market this as an app to be used multiple times a day, and it lacks a lot of the basic functionality and usability that other daily apps have. so annoying. so inconvenient. so frustrating that i don’t even want to log my pages everyday, which should be super basic and is essential to getting some of the data off the app or participating in the events within the app. hope this gets addressed quickly, i’ve had the app for over a year now and these problems persist.

Best Way to Track Books. Truly if you haven’t switched to Storygraph yet..what are you doing! Besides from being a phenomenal app, it’s team of one is incredible! Listens to our requests, constantly making updates, and answers of all our questions. I’ve been consistently using Storygraph for a year now and the growth that the app has seen in that time is exponential. So, if you think Storygraph doesn’t have all that you need from a book tracker (it does, I promise) download it anyway and I’m sure your request will be available on the next update. 😉

So, so good!. I started using this on the recommendation of a friend, and I absolutely love it. While I have been keeping a list of the books I read each year for quite a while, I’ve never found a book tracking site/app that I love and will use … until now! I’ve told so many people about this — it’s so nice to be able to have everything in one place, not need to do extensive reviews (though I like the ratings, especially since they can be broken into fractions of stars), interact with friends easily, and the list goes on. The new updates are fantastic, too!

Favorite Tracking App. The StoryGraph is my FAVORITE tracking app I’ve ever used. I really wanted to get into tracking more closely as I got back into reading, but didn’t want to use GR because I despise the clown-in-charge. The StoryGraph has so much information on books and is constantly evolving and expanding to work better for the users. Feedback is taken to heart and issues are remedied quickly. It’s amazing how well it works with such a small team - a testament to the Founder’s vision and commitment to the community. It can take a short while sort out some of the navigation, but for tracking, adding books, and looking at stats, it’s really really easy. Definitely recommend!

Must have for all readers. I never write reviews but I love this app so much! The interface is so intuitive and the stats give you everything you didn’t know you needed that makes you more excited to finally read through your to-read pile. Most importantly, the site has the feel of a small business - Nadia and Rob have so much integrity with building this platform and engaging user experience to make the best product possible. Never spoken to them but I feel like I know them and can FEEL how much they care about this app. Would never delete!

So much potential. There is so much potential for this being a great app for tracking book/reading data. I really like the idea of the unique data that it collects about the books you read, such as mood and pace. But it barely works. It’s been down for maintenance for more than it’s been active. The barcode scanner rarely picks up the barcodes on my books. And when it does, it freezes up when I click “import book”. And I’ve tried to import my Goodreads data 3 times and nothing ever happens. There is so much potential so I don’t want to delete the app but it’s getting so frustrating that I'm about it.

Wonderful app— Plus plan definitely worth it. This is so much better than Goodreads, for so many different reasons. The stats that they show you are *so* satisfying for the nerds and graph junkies out there like me. Being able to see the company’s product roadmap and be a part of shaping the future of Storygraph is exciting and not something you’ll get from Goodreads! The new UI updates they recently pushed live look great, with a fresh UI that I think looks cooler than the competitors, and they made some nice quality of life improvements as well. Looking forward to Storygraph continuing to grow and improve!

Ditch GR and switch right meow. I love this app so much! I've almost completely switched from GR and am thrilled to support this developer. I wish I would have thought it of it. 😭 I don't love the "character driven" vs "plot driven" questions when I'm creating a review, but it's also easy to skip. That said, I do feel a bit odd for leaving so much blank. The developers are clearly very conscientious about listening to feedback and they're great about adding features that readers want to see. It's nice to see an app like this succeeding.

It’s not a race. I tried this app as someone who loves to read but is slow and doesn’t have much time. I liked the idea of tracking my stats to help motivate me to carve time out to read more. I found a 563 page book that I read in 4 days because it was so good and I felt my spark to read return! When I added it to the app it told me my pace was “slow”. I’m sorry, I devoured that book and felt so proud of my accomplishment. What exactly counts as not slow??? I don’t need an app making me feel behind or trying to beat a record when the point of reading is joy and fun. No thanks.

The best reading tracking app!. Come for the easy tracking and to support a small, women-owned business where the owner doesn’t want to go to space, stay for the graphs and the wonderful community. I’m on this app tracking my reading every day and I love it. It takes a few hours time investment to get your account cleaned up if you’re transferring a library from elsewhere (the import works really well but book data can be a mess!), but the investment is so worth it to me and only the one time. From then on I find the app super easy (and fun!) to use, and you can import any book you can’t find and use the support tickets to get help updating anything you can’t.

Good, but I wish it had more features. This my go-to book logging app, and I do like it, but I wish there was more of a social aspect to it. I would like to know who follows me and that info is not given. It would be nice to only add friends instead of followers, and be able to comment. I would also like to see better recommendations, as I find myself heading to goodreads to find recommendations, even though I have a paid account on SG. It would be nice to see a section where people who’ve read X book, gave a high rating to Y book. Or a section where you can browse books by category (fantasy, romance, science, etc). Thank you!

The best app for tracking reading. I fully transitioned to StoryGraph last year from Goodreads and I love it. The interface is overall nicer, and there is better functionality around filtering, tagging, sorting TBR, describing and reviewing books, and seeing stats around your reading. The team is small but extremely proactive about communication as well as responsive if you have questions or issues. They’ve got a lot of exciting things on the roadmap as well. All in all, one of my favorite and main apps, and absolutely the best one for tracking reading and your library.

Perfect Recommendations. I listed everything I love in the “what kind of books do you like to read?” section of the reading preferences, and now every time I view my recommendations, it’s like the app is saying “and we love you, too.” Just good books I am consistently eager to read. As someone who never got over the whole thing with Jinni (if you were there, you *know*), I feel immense relief knowing I can get good recommendations without fearing that one day they will sell my data to the highest bidder and leave me high and dry. And frankly, it’s just better than the competition. They get readers. They are readers. They listen.

Best Reading Tracking App. I have influenced many friends to make accounts and now I’m forcing my friends to Buddy Read with me. Such a thoughtful and good app — with very little hidden behind a pay wall but plus being so reasonably priced. This is the superior reading tracking app so much so that I’m almost as excited to track my reading as I am to read. The challenges and goals encourage me to explore new books, and the ease of adding books makes sure I never lose my place even in books I have to return to the library and get back after a hold a few weeks/months later. Thank you, StoryGraph Team! If you had merch I would buy it (is there merch?)

Great app!!. I happened to stumble upon this app when I saw someone mention it in one of their social media posts. I’m so glad I downloaded this app. A lot of great features. I especially like picking books based on our mood from our TBR. Being able to add notes is also a favorite of mine. However, I can’t seem to find where I can access the notes that I have added. It would be great if there was a notes section for easier access. Other than that, I love using The StoryGraph! Keep up the great work. You have a lifetime user.

amazing, only one small issue. I love this app. It’s great to be able to track my reading progress, see my monthly stats, and keep up with what my friends are reading. The only issue I’ve seen with it is that the interface can be a bit messy. Selecting one of the tabs at the bottom takes you to a new page. This means that going between tabs has you ending up with a ton of pages that you need to close or hit the back arrow to get to. Just keeping them as separate tabs that save where you are on that page (as you see with social media apps like Instagram or Pinterest) would make it a much easier app to use. Hopefully this made sense :)

Best app for readers. I have been a Storygraph user for 3+ years and it has continuously been my favorite app out of every single one on my phone, and it just keeps getting better! I love the charts, personalized recommendations, and the new steak feature helps motivate me to read on days I may not have otherwise. It’s fun to see trends overtime and how my reading preference has evolved. And an added bonus is being able to support a woman-owners business vs Jeff Bezos. I recommend this app to any of my friends who will listen. If you’re thinking about making the switch from goodreads, just do it!

Love the app but would like these features!. I love StoryGraph, I feel like it’s much better than g*oodrea*ds! The set up and features are better plus the display is clean, really love the app all around BUT I would really appreciate being able to categorize my TBR into sub-sections or lists! Also, I would really love to be able to ‘click’ on the tags to see other books that are tagged the same! For example if I click on the “graphic novel” tag I would like a list of graphic novels to come up! Overall and signed, a happy storygraph user!

Make the switch!. I have been a user for a couple of years now and encourage every reader I know to join storygraph or make the switch from goodreads. Storygraph is a way more engaging experience, giving you chances to see your reading habits and interests in a new way - with fun charts and graphs. The developers are constantly making updates and listening to users. It truly feels like a community. Plus you can give quarter and half star ratings! And keep track of your reading streak! And win giveaways(I’ve won two)! Make the switch!!

THE STATS. I ADORE this app. My favorite part is the stats page. It has graphs detailing genres, the pace of the book, page numbers, authors, fiction vs nonfiction, if you read it digitally, in print, or listened via audiobook. And with the “pro” you can compare stats from different time periods. The buddy read feature is so cool my friend and I are trying it out for the first time now, it’s what drew us in in the first place. You can read the same book and put comments in the app that are locked until your buddy updates their book progress to at or past that point so no spoilers!

I most definitely prefer this to Goodreads! Just one problem…. My only issue with this app thus far is that it never updates my most read authors stats and the one author it is showing is not accurate either. Just wondering if this was a bug or if there are plans to modify it in the future? Otherwise, this app has been a game changer! The amount of stats available are incomparable to those on Goodreads and it offers a more clean design. Plus, the app is more focused on reading whereas Goodreads became almost like another social media app rather than its intended purpose to track your reading. I love that StoryGraph is adding in the friends and buddy features but there doesn’t feel like I need to care about what other people are reading.

Great App! Missing something though. Absolutely great app! I love being able to visually see my books in graphs and being able to compare. I also love the reading journal feature and the fact that content warnings are very transparent. AND the recommendations are always great!! I do however wish there was a way to create groups or “book clubs” to get book recommendations from people or chat with them. I know there’s the buddy read feature, but that requires you to already know users reading the same book as you. Would love for storygraph to connect similar readers to create virtual book club spaces.

Overall great with some flaws. I’m new to StoryGraph, migrating from Goodreads - so far I love the layout and interface, especially compared to Goodreads’ antiquated feel. The biggest and only issue I have so far is the “go back” arrow - it literally will take you back to a survey screen, or review screen once you’ve pressed done, or to any page that should have been a one-and-done page; it’s like an unending blackhole of pages that you can go back to, if that makes sense. That definitely causes some confusion for me and adds a kind of unpolished, amateur feel to the app. But beyond that I’m enjoying it and hopeful for my new book log app experience!

One of my favorite apps. I love the StoryGraph so much! I found it in 2019 and have used it almost every single day since I first downloaded it. The amount of features it provides (even in the free version) are so cool and then with StoryGraph Plus you get even more amazing recommendations, data, and perks. The data it provides is one of my favorite parts, being able to see the mood breakdown, track the number of books and pages read (I'm a person who is very easily motivated by keeping streaks and competing with myself), and the new barcode scanner is awesome! Truly one of my favorite and most used apps!

The only tracking app I will ever use. I am a huge fan of StoryGraph after first using the beta several years ago. The team works SO HARD and obviously cares so very much about this community - I love following along with their emails and their developer updates. I also appreciate their honesty about the technical trouble they had at the very beginning of the year when there was a huge surge in signups (yay!!) but it makes me sad to see so many low reviews because of this. I’ve used this app for years now and will never use another one because of the incredible metrics, the fun reading challenges and the innovative buddy read features.

Reading stats like never before!. I will not stop shouting from the rooftops about how much I love StoryGraph. The statistics about your reading is so fun and detailed that is makes me want to read more! The design makes it so easy to import your Goodreads data and get amazing personalized recommendations! The reading challenges make reading even more fun and I have read more books and different genres I wouldn’t normally. Plus you get to support a young black entrepreneur in the process!! Get StoryGraph! I promise you won’t regret it!!! Also I love the design updates❤️

Editions. While I love, love, love this app, there are some things that could be better. If there is a book in your To-Read Pile and you read a different edition, it remains in your To-Reads. I’d love a way to have it be removed to Read pile. Today I saw a book in my To-Read pile that I remembered reading last year. It’s because I put the hardcover in the TBR and ended up listening to the audiobook. The audiobook is in my Read pile, and the hardcover is still in the To-Read pile. I don’t need/want to read every edition of a book. I wish they’d automatically move to Read pile. I also wish there were an easier way to report reviews that have spoilers in them besides emailing StoryGraph. I do enjoy this app and use it daily.

So many features & always growing!. I’ve been a StoryGraph user for several years and it is one of my favorite apps on my phone. I love the charts and data it gives you about your reading habits, and it’s so easy to use. I love that they are always working on adding new features and making existing features even better. I pay for the premium subscription and it’s absolutely worth it. The StoryGraph team (which is only 3 people!!) does a great job responding to any issues you encounter (which are rare), and they provide great customer service.

Very user friendly! Nice features!. I love so many things about this app: the clean design, the type of information you can leave in reviews and use for searching/filtering books (e.g. pacing, moods, character elements, content warnings), the flexibility in how you leave reviews. I also like how easy it is to keep track of what I’ve read, what I own, and what I want to read. There are a few things I’d love to see added (apologies if they’re already be in the app and I’ve missed them): the ability to collapse all versions of a book in the search results and especially in the recommendations list and the ability to remove individual books from recommendation lists.

Keeps Getting Better!. I’ve been with the StoryGraph since 2022 when I divested from Am*zon in a number of ways, including GR. I had been using GR for probably a decade and was increasingly frustrated by the dated functionality and unending advertisements. I really enjoy the StoryGraph not only for its independence and excellent data, but also because I’ve watched it improve in real time over the past two years. I love the developer emails and behind-the-scenes Instagram stories. They actively seek out recommendations and reviews, and then implement them! Your fave could never.

Best Reading Tracking App Out There. I started using Storygraph last year along with Goodreads just to see which one I’d end up liking more and at the end of the year last year I ended up deleting Goodreads because of how happy I am with SG!!! there are so many amazing features and interacting with your friends/adding friends is SO much easier!! I love the pie charts and statistics were given - as well as the MANY different yearly goals for yourself! Whether it be an amount of books, pages OR hours! Don't even get me started on the shelving features and how easy it is to enter their giveaways!

Absolutely obsessed. I adore this app so much! I love the features it has especially the stats page. I check it every time I finish a book haha! I love the ability to track progress and the reading challenges have really upped my reading game I love being a part of those! Overall this app is truly my favorite so far for tracking reading and books I’ve read. Every improvement just reminds me why and they are constantly improving this app. I really think this is the best reading tracker out there!

Amazing new alternative to Goodreads. I’ve been using and loving Goodreads for years and just decided to take the plunge and try out StoryGraph, and I love it! It’s a bit of a learning curve but has so much more cool info, and you can import all your historical GR data to get started! I love all the pie charts for genre, book format read, etc. One suggestion, I wish the little book listings more easily showed which edition/format you have selected. Many of my books aren’t the correct edition/format I actually read but you have to drill down a couple levels to see that. But overall I highly recommend this app!

Please fix app navigation. If the app’s developers read this, I’m begging you to fix the navigation. Every time the user navigates anywhere in the app, a new page is pushed onto the top of the navigation stack. The stack is then never cleared unless the user decides to press the back button or swipe back from the left however many times they navigated to a new screen. This leaves the navigation stack open to becoming infinitely large, the performance concerns of which are critical (not to mention an odd and confusing user experience.) Each time a user presses an icon on the bottom tab bar the selected page should replace the previous page in the stack instead of just being pushed on top of it. Navigation via the bottom tab bar should also not include the directional animations as they imply the user is going down a level into the app instead of to a new page at the same level. One more nitpick is that when the menu drop down is open the user shouldn’t be able to scroll the page behind the drop down. I use StoryGraph and appreciate the features it provides, but these design issues make the app unusable. If these problems are resolved I will happily change my review. Until then I am going to stick with the website.

Best book tracking. I love this app!! I love how easy it is to use and how specific you can be when it comes to selecting the correct edition and I think the review system is really fun to see what other readers voted for on various topics. Also, the way they present your own stats is awesome to have. I’d rather spend my time reading so I love that they do the work for me. Currently using the free version and it has all the features you’d want. I’m considering leveling up just to see but on this current level I’m definitely satisfied and basically use it every day. For reference I have tried Goodreads and Literal (literal stopped getting updated so I wouldn’t recommend).
