Not for riff writing. Completely misinterpreted the description of this app and bought it hoping to use it to write down some of my riffs—turns out it only generates “random” riffs based on parameters. Maybe that’s my fault for not reading carefully. Hope version 2 gets here fast with writing abilities

THANK YOU SO MUCH!. I had recently made a review two nights ago and only gave this app 4 stars because of an audio exporting issue. Now that issue is resolved, I feel 100% comfortable giving this awesome app 5 stars! Thank you so much for one of, if not, the best app I’ve ever used! :D

Fantastic Upgrade!. Really enjoying messing around with this. Honestly, watching videos made by the creator and other YouTubers hasn’t really helped me as much as just messing with it and exploring its capabilities. I’ve been able to apply this in orchestral music (staccato strings), EDM (running synth stabs) and lots of other instruments in genres thanks to the new ability to run in AUv3. While there are lots of things this app can do, one thing I wanted that I haven’t figured out yet is how to use this as a basic acoustic guitar sound. That’s originally what I got the app for. I’ve been able to do so many amazing things besides that. I don’t know if I’m missing something or if it’s just that it isn't what this app aims to do. (Although it would be nice if added since I literally can’t find a single acoustic guitar generator.) I can highly recommend this app despite my lack of an acoustic setup with it. It does what it does really, really well and has reached far beyond what I expected to use this app for, mostly.

This app is a gem. If all the AI apps that are out there this stands well above them all.

Cool app. Definitely very cool. You might have to make adjustments to the riff as some of the tab it creates doesn’t seem to consider the limitations of a human hand. Still to a great little tool. I hope it is further enhanced.

Amazing. Its a steal for the price

Incredible app! Incredible service!!. I downloaded this app last night and there was a problem with it. I emailed and immediately received emails about my problem and when it’ll be fixed. When I say INCREDIBLE SERVICE, that’s no lie! Now, my review about the App: BUY IT RIGHT NOW!!!!! 5 stars doesn’t give it justice. It’s amazing!!! It’s incredible!!!

Great - Could be the GOAT. More fun than should be legal. Think musically and it makes music. If this is all there was to it it would still get 5 stars for doing it well. Requests? A squeal along with the bends etc. song mode, and at the moment even if it says it did it, it does not export anything but title to one drive. MIDI export is great if you have some good guitar libraries and some amps. I use Kontakt guitars, Shreddage for velocity triggered squeal and harmonics and Guitar Rig. If you’re not a guitarist this is your non flake guitarist who shows up on time without his girlfriend. If you are a guitarist, what a great practice mate that shows up on time, and without significant other.🤣

Excellent for the price. This is pure excellence. One thing though, could you add random chord progressions so you could come closer creating songs. I know it’s for riffs, but it would be top of the line then.

Amazing. I produce heavy Dubstep and this is exactly what I was looking for. It’s easy to use and does the work for you. I’m having a blast just using the random button. This is way better than having to go through a bunch of sample packs. It blows any guitar VST I’ve used so far. Keep up the good work developer!

Inspirational. You will love this app whenever you need to plant a new idea in your head.It sounds pretty good as well.

THE UPDATED UPDATE FIXES DANG NEAR EVERYTHING. 2.0 scared me and made me angry. i wrote a childish review instead of just messaging the developer and letting them know my thoughts on v2.0 like a normal person who was addicted to v1 v2.05 may be the most fun ive ever had using the app ever. the oddly realistic guitar tones from v1 are almost back to normal, but i feel like theyve been improved in most ways, not to mention the insane amount of new tones and effects. everything is much more fluid, i used to attempt to manipulate the app to perform in more of a live jam manner. it was impossible. but now? holy cow. i feel like after just a few hours of tinkering and exploring the new design, i could convince one of the old clubs i used to play at to let me do a one man band jammer for the evening while singing adlibbed vocals about various liqour obsessions, 100 length cancer sticks, fast automobiles, pet dander and former relationship partners. i could go on and on about what drives me absolutely wild with this app but id rather just say that the magic of it is still here and i have a feeling its only gonna get better with user suggestions and ideas so heres a few things that im gonna nitpick just for the curiousity to find out if they are even possible due to the incredible job the developer has done despite our nasty and sullen reviews of the pretweaked and rather buggy update that has now been fixed: 1) the EXTREME "Black" styling is near perfect. ive never witnessed such an accomplishment in an iOS app. id like to see a few more variants of "Black" to allow for easier creation of the more epic side of the genre as opposed to every click of the create button making a riff that is almost the same as the last but different enough to be considered as an excellent transition (this suggestion is merely a specific example of how there could maybe be a touch more variation within the individual style setting buttons, instead of every press of the template sounding like the same band wrote it. Its amazing, but thats the only improvement i could foresee it having) 2) while the ability to wildly exaggerate the drum parts by mixing up the different advanced time signatures is a super fun way to create actual drum parts, it would be convenient and nice to eventually have a simple 3 or 4 track drum sequencer or even just some styled preset measures of different drum loops to randomize or punch in some more suitable percussion variations outside of the kick and snare, metronome and hihat separately. or maybe just the option for some drum fills on 2 or 4 to fall in with the magnificent "Runs" feature? in a perfect world, a preset drum loop for each of the various genre presets would probably be the best and easiest request to make everyone happy with the drum side of the app. a million blessings to the developer for adding a drum volume knob. its absence in v1 was the only flaw i ever felt strongly about before. 3) i wanted to critcize the guitar tones somehow, but honestly im loving them. the new ones are great and the dynamic contrast between them makes experimenting with each as the riff plays ALOT OF FUN, however with quick movements, sometimes the buttons for them seem a bit cramped or dont always trigger when touched. maybe the areas of the screen that trigger each at are too close together or maybe the areas programmed for to reconize the touch arent big enough? or maybe in my excitement i cant hit it properly, i dunno but it would be cool if all the grouped buttons on some of the pages throughout the program on the new layout had just a tad more room to ensure the user is touching and activating the intended setting. 4) love the addition of the knobs, the way they adjust is beyond that of big name paid apps, but the lack of specific time divisions or "hard settings" like in v1 with preset delay modes is kinda difficult to dial in. maybe this is because its designed around tempo syncing with a daw? if thats the case ignore this request but i just want a quick way to dial in something familiar to the v1's "rhythmic delay" or maybe a feedback adjustment as well instead of the combined time/feedback single knob (expertly done by the way, the taper of each is perfect, would just be cooler if there was a way to work the two parameters separately if desired) 5) mr developer: please consider charging all of us money for these pro level features youve created. you would be surprised at the positive ramifications amassed from a small or even large amount of payment for quality app work such as this. just imagine the feeling of accomplishment money will give you in our overtly capitalist society. but whatever you do, PLEASE NEVER evolve this into a sudden subscription style setup. you probably werent even considering that, but i wanted to be the first to speak up on the subject since it seems to be a popular trend in some really solid apps these days, rendering them completely worthless valuewise. ill continue to update my review as you continue to tweak your newly evolved creation. i shall continuously thank you and annoyingly praise you for your hard work. im also higher than a dualstring kite on a windy beach right now so CHEERS! RIFFLER FOR LIFE! ---gatedfuzz

Amazing. Love the app, some suggestions i have would be to maybe add like some acoustic options: like dark neofolk, and classical fingerpicking, stuff like that. Maybe a guitar solo option too. I’m pretty sure the “power chords” option is it, but a 90s grunge one would be cool too

Fantastic helper tool!. This app is exceptionally good for helping to generate ideas. So many times I’ll sit down to try to work on something new and struggle to come up with something - that’s when apps like this become so valuable. Select a few options, generate a few riffs, and chances are there’ll be something interesting you can build on. Totally worth the price and then some just for that alone!

Perfect but….. There needs to be a time signature change, and a drum map, and the ability to allow us to move and delete and replace notes.

Fun plug with a lot versatility. Good chops, the metal riffs are terrific and there’s a lot to play with and explore. The guitar notation is a bit hard to read on a small form factor iPhone, but not really essential as one can adjust parameters by listening. Sounds better with dedicated FX plugged in the chain or another synth.

What!?. Dev really stepped this app up.

Answers so many needs!. You can export audio or midi copyright free riffs into anything. What’s not to love?

Awesome App. Love it for inspiration. Cool for basslines too. Future suggestions: Would love a feature for other styles (surf/spaghetti western) Also open G tuning option!

Easy and inspiring!. The app is incredible, its variety and quality are outstanding. The dev is really responsive and ready to implement changes. I really should have bought it before!

Terrific app for songwriters and musicians. Riffles is a super creative music app for any guitar player, songwriter or music producer. Somehow programmer Jonathan Bell has encoded the wisdom and experience of the most versatile virtual session guitar player ever. Riffles can create riffs of chords, leads, bass parts or even synth parts in a wide range of styles from Classic Rock to Blues to Metal (and all its incarnations) to Funk, EDM, Ambient, you name it. There’s a full set of parameters you can control to determine the style, key, tempo, rate of bends, vibrato, chords, runs, scales and also amps & effects. Then click the generate button and you’ve got something that will sound decent and can be further customized. This is great for songwriting, for laying down some guitar tracks as audio or MIDI. The developer has been updating the app regularly and also has a MacOS / Windows VST in the works. It’s a great app from a developer who is doing something that is extremely valuable to any songwriter. Plus it’s on sale for the price of a big city beer.

WOW!. Just got it and never thought I’d add such hot guitar licks to my homemade sessions. Been though a lot of apps and my quest has ended,it’s home with me and I thank the developers for making my 85 birthday a rockin event. Fun and satisfying, go get it don’t wait it’s the answer to a sax and keyboarders dream

Such a unique app!. I’m a keyboard/drums/bass/vocalist so the one area I struggle with or always have to put off, or settle with is guitar. This app really helps me curve just that issue. It’s fantastic! The only suggestion I would have for them is to make it so when you hit create new riff within a preset style of sound you got more variety. Unless I’m not doing something correct Idk. When I roll the dice I get a nice random option, once I like a style lets say Djent for example I wish the app created more options in that sound, but I know I can just turn some knobs and make that change myself too, so its not a pressing matter, haha but it would be a nice additional feature. Amazing app thought for real, I recommend it, and I’ve been showing it off to all my friends!

This is sick!!!! Awsome!!. Now I have unlimited gutair music!!! Nothing to complain about!!

Great App.. I would love if you guys add a feature were one can put their own notes to see how it would sound. I feel like that would increase this apps value a ton

So far beyond expectations for an old iPad.. Riffler is a long-playing guitar-hero! Is this the standard by which all others will be judged when what's done in the dark will be brought to the light? The nearly half-a-gig download had me postponing updating for month upon month till yesterday. Here's to, sweet dreaming accompanied by melodious guitar riffles in the darkness till the gentle morn's lightness. By gummit! I'm so happy I might get the sniffles. Cheers.

Incredible app. As a non musician, I enjoy generative music apps. Besides this, I have Chordana, iSongWriter, YouCompose and Piano Motifs and love each of them. If you’re on the fence, do a search for this app. There are informative reviews of this online that go in depth. The dev is also very responsive and helpful. You won’t regret buying Riffler!

I like the app. But I can’t import the audio or wave or mp3 to GarageBand iOS. I seen on YouTube they do without any issues. But on my case I can’t upload to GarageBand iOS can you please fix that problem ? Thank you 🙏

Amazing. I was looking for an app with a good guitar sound font (GarageBand leaves a lot to be desired) and this comes with the bonus of doing the work for me. However, one thing I’d add would be an editor if possible, being able to start with something and add or change more would be great for this app.

This EXACTLY what I was looking for!. I searched forever and downloaded so many crappy guitar apps, hoping they might function as I needed (As i can’t play guitar…or anything..at all). Finally, I stumbled on this one, via Youtube. The tutorials were really helpful, btw. I then jumped to the app store, prepared to pay ANY amount of money! $10? I would have happily paid double… thanks man- for keeping my 1-man-band rock ‘n’ roll dreams alive!

A few problems. It is great but it keeps playing past when it’s supposed to stop. I have to merge it and crop it that way. Which is fine but I think the sound quality is better before a merge. I’ve also had it crash on me, had to reload it a couple times. It would be nice if I could piano roll with it.

Great App. This is a great app but it would be nice to have more scales to work with. None of the melodic minor or its modes are present. It would also be nice to have more chord choices. 13ths, 11ths, half diminished etc.

Love/hate relationship with this app. This is one of my favorite apps, but I don’t understand why loading a saved riff does not repopulate the Lock Parameter buttons. This is a huge blocker for me, since manipulation of the locked parameters is vital for generating the type of riff you want easily and repeatedly. Add this feature, and I’d call Riffler a perfect app.

AWSOME THANK YOU. I have been a music composer for 40 years and my main composition tool is now the iPad Pro which has music tools I could only have dreamed of in my 20,s I am in my 50s but better late than never. The guitar parts that this generates are good enough to go on my next album thank you so much for the developer to make such an awesome guitar generator. I am also a guitar player but using this tool is way faster for music ideas. Please always develop this app we need innovative music app developers and this is one of my new top favorites. Please buy this app to support the developer is so worth it Todd

Never fails to please. Somehow my previous review disappeared. Every time I use this app it never fails to put a big, stupid grin on my face. Looking forward to the AUv3 version with real-time MIDI output.

Very unique and interesting!. Passed this over several times only really looking at the pictures thinking it was maybe just for guitar tabs. Glad I took the time to look into the details more. Since I’m not a guitar player I’ve struggled to find a way to bring in unique guitar sounds into the iOS ecosystem. This is an amazing idea starter and guitar simulator. Being able to export midi and audio is great so thank you for making this app!

Glitchy with this version, with iPad and iPhone. When I save the riff (going to settings, “Export Audio” and “Export MIDI” the riff will change the moment I hit “Export MIDI” and it will then in fact save the (CHANGED) Riff for the midi. *** this exported MIDI riff will be in the same key/sound/ and structure, it seems to only change the notes… (meaning it would be like hitting the “create riff” button as apposed to hitting the dice or “random” button. *** Work around = locking all measures before exporting midi —————————————————————— Also- when working on iPhone 13 with latest IOS it is VERY VERY hard to use the play/stop/create riff at the bottom of screen, I’m not sure if it’s because my phones case has a slight rise all around the phone making it slightly difficult to hit any of the buttons near there edge of the screen, I have to take the case off my phone in order to use this amazing app! I have NO issues using it on my 2021 iPad Pro (Or) using it on my 2023 MacBook Pro M2 ———————————————————————- Thank you so much for making an incredible app! I have recommended this app to friends and fellow guitar/bass/drummers and they literally switched from being life long Android users to now becoming fans of the iPhone FOR THIS APP!!!! If anything I would hope that Apple sees the amazing dedication and care that has been put into this app!!!! I will say I was so disappointed when we were first introduced to the ability to change notes (because the sound of the guitar went from your amazing sound to a MIDI guitar sound (however I have tweaked and played with different Auv3’s to find a pretty sweet spot, that gives life to the guitar tone! You are an amazing developer, and I appreciate you and the work you have done!!! I pray that you are inspired to create more apps for Metal and Rock fans, maybe a soloist that would blow the socks off of Randy Rhodes, Steve Via, Joe Satriani, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix Jake E. Lee, etc etc Also

Just AWESOME!!!. This app has a great sounding rock, metal, riffs and it can create many many more. I play lead and this app is great for creating rythms that challenges an advance player. It can make new patterns as it plays, and a lot of the patterns are good to awesome, some are not very goog, but workabke with a small editing!!! It generates patterns with very melodic runs requiring little or no editing at all!, very impressive algorithm!!!! Great app!!!!

The missing piece. by iOSTRAKON This app was already perfect for me when it dropped. I have a guitarist now that won’t talk back. More chaos //

GarageBand iPadOS AUv3!. Saw your Twitter video of the new version demo and I am really looking forward to the release. This is one awesome app.

Great app! But, I do have a suggestion.. I like this app, it’s great! But, I really don’t like the new look. I just prefer the old design. I don’t think I could get used to the new design. Please, change the design back. Thanks!

An amazing rhythm guitar player in your IOS device. If you are into guitar based music at all I highly recommend this app. Whether you want to learn riffs to play, or if you want to add some great guitar playing to your music, this app has you covered. As an amateur music producer I love the instant inspiration just tapping the “Create” button provides. Musical, usable guitar riffs in whatever scale, key, tempo, and style you need. Every. Single. Time. There really is nothing else like this on the App Store for guitar and the developer keeps improving it with each new update.

I can't take it anymore. I have to let it out. Everyone has different needs and for me, and what I want to do on an iPad, which is write music and practice music, this is, hands down, the best app I've ever found for helping me practice new ideas I wouldn't have thought of. Simply fantastic.

Very musical, useful and nothing quite like it!. I’m not a guitar player so this is very useful in my toolkit for some quick rhythm guitar or composition ideas and even as a practice tool backing track. Would LOVE to see some support for meters other than 4/4 and lengths other than 2, 4, 8.

The best AI music generator (especially for metal). This app is actually legit as, writes tabs and everything. Outclasses some, if not, most computer AI metal music generators.

Fantastic app.. I’m blown away. Riffler is the best app for music inspiration and creation bar none and the best part is there’s no annoying subscriptions or paywalls. It’s a pay once and use a million plus times app that keeps on giving. The riffs it generates are awesome and the samples are fantastic. It covers a wide variety of genres and influences and gives you control over a heap of features to truly customise your riffs. Plus the developers seems to be a rare breed who seem to genuinely love their app and their users, updates are frequent and they seem to understand what people actually want. I only wish it had a song mode where you could add riffs to different sections (like piano motifs has) but that’s just me getting greedy… Buy this app!!!

Great app. Very happy with my purchase. App works well and developer is always adding extra features. 10 out of 10.

Must-have for any rock/metal guitarist or producer!. Great engine and highly customizable. Generates meaningful and usable riffs that can be sure to get you out of any rut. I was there head banging away to groove after groove (yes, I was using the groove metal preset.. there are many to choose from). An idea for the upgrade include the option of generating accompanying bass lines!

Best App I’ve Ever Used. This app is easily the best and most helpful I’ve ever used. Not only are the riffs great, it also sounds pretty realistic for what you pay for. The only slightly unrealistic bit I could find is when a note suddenly stops. It kinda sounds robotic how perfectly is stops. But a simple way around that is just to add in other instruments to make it barely noticeable unless you try to hear it on purpose. All in all amazing app, I would recommend this to everyone. It’s definitely worth the money!

Most fun music app EVER!. iOS music production is dominated by synths and samplers, but when it comes to guitar riffs, Riffler is king!

New duet presets designed to be played simultaneously with the new Riffler Flow app. Presets now remain highlighted when loaded so it's easy to see which preset was last used. All presets now have their tempo and key listed. On the "Key" tab the key is now hidden when in "Manual" mode as it's not needed. Minor bug fixes.
