Reeflex Pro Camera App Description & Overview

What is reeflex pro camera app? Reeflex is the best photography app on the App Store designed for enthusiasts, creatives, and professional photographers! The app provides pro-level DSLR features directly on your iPhone while being extremely intuitive and easy to use.

— Professional Tools for Everyone —

Reeflex offers two main capture modes - the main one for classic still photography and the Slow Shutter modes for long exposure photography - together with a rich set of professional tools for full manual control over focus, exposure, and white balance. The live histograms combined with the zebra stripes allow you to precisely monitor your exposure. The focus peaking is a powerful guide for adjusting the focus on your subject. By a simple two-finger tap on the viewfinder, Reeflex also allows you to independently adjust focus and exposure, moving two reticles across the scene.

Reeflex allows shooting in HEIF, JPG, TIFF, or RAW on all iPhone models. You can also shoot in the Apple ProRAW* format and 48MP*** on compatible devices.

— Slow Shutter Mode —

Reeflex offers the best long exposure tools on the App Store. Enjoy the flexibility of manual controls and watch the picture forming on the screen. Select either Motion Blur or Light Trails modes to make people disappear, give moving water & cloudy skies a smooth silky appearance, or transform busy roads and starry skies into stunning rivers of light. Long Exposure on iPhone has never been easier!

Complete GARBAGE. Not only is this app totally ridiculously bad (you apparently can’t even pick your focus point, for example), but since I downloaded it, I have a hashtag of reflex app in the corner of every photo that I open in Lightroom. It doesn’t even have the right logo with the hashtag. It makes no difference which camera app that I use, and I don’t even have this app on my phone now. I guess I’ll have to crop every single photo that I open in Lightroom mobile now. Undoubtedly the worst app that I’ve ever downloaded.

Just use the native app on iPad…. Bottom line, the native iPad Camera app pretty much does what it needs to do, so it seems senseless to mule ones way through an app that doesn’t really add much usable or valuable functionality, yes a few bells and whistles but they don’t add benefit to the native ability of the physical lens built into the devices being used. And besides, simple adjustments like landscape mode? Can’t find it and this is one adjustment that should be easily found as so many picture takers would use landscape mode. I’d be stuck taking pics in portrait mode? I tried to compare picture quality output of this app to the native app and, yup surprisingly, no difference in resolution, or overall picture quality, this assuming exposure and focus are correct in the app(s) being used.

buggie. No tap focus on iPad Pro iOS 15… ui is vertical, like for phone, but image from sensor flipped 90 degrees

Love this app but…. Unlike the long exposure app you can’t backup photos so it doesn’t save my to the photo album :/ Please fix in update and I’ll definitely raise my review to five stars

Easy to use with stunning results. Just uploaded the app and took it out for a spin. Even with the limited time using it I captured some stunning photos on the first attempts using it. I look forward to seeing where it takes my images as I get more familiar with the inner workings of the app and how I can best utilize it.

Disappointed. The app freezes, it is quite slow for many tasks, changing cameras takes inexplicably long, you can’t zoom when using raw… After five minutes exploring the app, I’m deleting it because it’s really bad. PS: long exposure is the main plus of this app, but it is now available as a separate app (ReeXpose), so the value of Reeflex for me is none.

Inferior macro lens. I bought this app to do product photography of small items, since iPhone’s color balance is erratic. Reeflex let me adjust the balance, but can’t get as close as I could with just the phone’s camera. I assumed it wouldn’t make any of the phone’s existing features worse—my bad. And no way to request a refund. Goodbye $6.99.

Good Camera App, Awesome Company. After using this app and enjoying it, I wanted to upgrade my photo taking abilities and purchase some of the company’s lenses. I ordered a case and the Pro Series Photo Bundle. There was a mix up with my order and I ended up receiving the Fish Eye lens. I emailed customer support and had the problem resolved within one day. Josh in customer support told me to keep the lens I received and he was sending me my original order. Reeflex makes a wonderful camera app and they have awesome customer service. That is a company I like to support.

Now working on iPhone 14 Pro Max. Did not work since the latest update. Shut down immediately after opening. Tried reinstalling the app, but same result. I contacted customer support about this issue. They responded immediately and Salvatore sent me an update via TestFlight. The first update failed, but with the crash report they received, the second update fixed the issue. This is a great app with great customer support. The problem was resolved within 4 hours of contacting support. Hats off to you folks. You are fantastic! Changed my rating to 5 stars!

Awesome camera app. Cool app still learning basics but overall great camera app

Nice fit at a good price. TL;DR: Not as pretty as ProCamera and not as simple yet flexible as Halide, but a darn good fit right between the two. The low purchase price is a one-off and makes ReeFlex an incredible value. I’ve been using ProCamera since 2014, and Halide for almost a year. I was always intimidated by ProCamera’s multitude of settings and never felt like I was getting the most out of the app. I often reverted to the native iOS Camera app just for ease of use. Then I found Halide as part of a re-kindling of my photographic ambitions, and a new iPhone that could take advantage of it. Halide at first seemed like a perfect solution for me, until it wasn’t. Meanwhile, ProCamera revamped its UI, the settings seemed less daunting, and I started using it a lot more. Then, through a series of happy accidents, I found ReeFlex (and ReeXpose). ReeFlex is simple and flexible, and has an intuitive and pleasing UI. The image quality for RAW and ProRAW is on a par with ProCamera, and, I think, just a touch better than Halide. Plus, there is no subscription to commit to, no in-app purchases to make, and a really reasonable purchase price. I figure ReeFlex makes their money off of their lenses (which I don’t need at this time), so they can offer their app at a significant discount. I don’t really fuss about that because the app is so useful and effective.

My go-to app for night long exposure!. Colors for night photos stay truer than other similar apps, and the light trail mode is awesome. Thanks Reeflex!!

Fantastic full camera control!. What a great camera app! I normally don’t do reviews, but this app needs one. Fantastic full control of you iPhone camera. Can completely control your exposure triangle. From setting iso, to control of your shutter speed, it is in here. Focus peaking to get what you want as your depth of field. The best part I am having the most fun with is full control of shutter drag, from not only the 1-10 seconds the iPhone app does, but now you can go up to hours and beyond to full bulb mode. In bulb mode you have your choice of M mode for motion blur of cloud trails and smoothing water and L mode for light trails, star trails and light painting. I have not found another app that gives you as much as this one does to get you the most out of your iPhone camera. A MUST BUY for iPhone camera users.

Solid App…Solid Features. I’ve been using the app for a couple of weeks now and have been pleased so far. There are tweaks needed that the developers plan to implement such as: integration with Darkroom+; adding a camera icon for one tap return to the viewfinder from the camera roll; better camera roll management; and Reeflex Lens selection in the viewfinder for metadata. Overall a solid app. I’m looking forward to the future updates.

Not free. Downloading is free but you need a subscription to use it.

Photos not getting added to library. Photos not getting added to library with “selected photos” only option

Godsend Photography App. My old Canon 40D is really on its last leg and I’ve since started using my iPhone for a ton of my pictures these days, however, long exposures are not it’s strong suit. That was until I found THIS app specifically. Being able to stretch the time out into multiples of minutes is truly wonderful and done with ease in this. I cannot wait to pair it with the Reeflex lenses once I can get my hands on some. THANK YOU. If you want to really unlock your iPhones photography possibilities. This is the app for you.

Manual settings not work. I use manual control to set iso as 800 and shutter speed is 1/500. But the jpg photo’ exif data shows iso is 125 and shutter speed is 1/88. That is so bad since the reason that most of people buy camera app is because of this manual feature. I check other apps like neoshot and procamera and they don’t have this issue. ——————————- The latest version has resolved this issue.

Good camera app. I like this camera app. I’ve been using it for over a month. There a lot of features to play with. It has the capability of shooting like a DSLR. The focus peaking, zebra stripes and histogram are helpful when capturing images. However, I do find that images that I thought were in focus, sometimes aren’t, even when using the focus peaking feature. I also find that the images sometimes are either too dark or blown out even though they look fine on the screen. Also, sometimes the images aren’t as crisp as the native camera app either. They tend to have a softer appearance. It doesn’t seem to take macro photos like the native camera app. You could, if you had an external lens kit. I’m going to continue to use this app to see if I can get it to work better for me. I would love for this to be my go to app for photography. I think there’s potential for this app to keep improving and adding options, like video taking and an external shutter button support. I was assured the external shutter button support was coming when I reached out to the reeflex team.

Reeflex apps. All three ReeFlex apps have been awesome and have really stepped my iphonography to a whole new level. You can’t go wrong with any of them.

The ultimate camera. From the moment I downloaded the app, I started having amazing results. I love long exposure shots. It’s like painting with light . I’m still exploring the camera and it’s settings, but all works so well. I Highly recommend to the curious and creative minds. Marco Prado

Stunning App. This app is everything you need to get great pictures, from a simple portrait to amazing slow shutter. It is easy to use and your work will look like professional work.

Doesn’t come with all features. The camera app was supposed to be free, however it is apparently paid now. I paid for it, and when I entered the app it still wants me to pay even more to get the long exposure modes. From online reviews it all said that it was free, and I don’t think I should have to pay more for a paid app just to get more features that were advertised as free on the reviews.

Holy Moly!. Last October (2022) I stepped up from a 12 year old flip phone to an iPhone 14 Pro Max. Now this app has turned my iPhone into a comparable monster with my Nikon DSLR. I have been using this app for a couple of months now and there is not one bad thing I can say about it. The remote control (30 ft range) for my iPhone also works well with this app. If you want total control of your iPhone camera (as in a DSLR mode) this is the only app you’ll want. You know you want it so what are you waiting for? Caveat: I recommend that you only use this app for shots that require longer exposures like moving water/waterfalls and clouds. I’ve read complaints about focusing issues and such so with that said, there is no need to use this app all the time/alone. IMO, it’s better if you continued using your phone’s camera for everyday shooting.

Waste of $4 - UPDATED. Tried the app again after the latest update, but it’s still not saving photos. Not going to waste anymore time on it. ___ I’m updating my review to give the developers the benefit of the doubt. They reached out to me, I sent them a video of what’s happening, and they offered me a refund. I appreciate the developer’s response. Since it’s a fairly new app, I’m going to stick with it to see if updates fix it. —- None of the shots I’ve taken have saved. Access to all photos is allowed, but nothing saved. Switching lenses is molasses slow. The marketing was well done, but not the app engineering.

Crash prone!. Sorry I can’t currently go higher that 1 ⭐️ at the moment: every time I click the shutter, it crashes immediately and no photo is captured to the camera roll on my iPhone 6s. iOS is up to date 15.5, and the app says the phone is comparable. Purchased to unlock the slow-mo feature, but as of now it’s useless to me. Is there a refund option?🤷🏻‍♂️

Best Camera app. Am using it since its release, it's a complete package for Manual Smartphone Photography thanks to the developers for great works

The Best Camera App in the store!!!. With the native app you can snap great photos and Apple has added some manual controls which is nice. BUT it’s got nothing on the Reeflex app, you have full manual control, oh and 98% of the app is FREE! The ONLY in-app purchase is $5-6 to unlock the long exposure feature. The UI is very easy to use and translatable to a DSLR. I picked up my sisters camera and was able to clack off a few nice pics. So if you’re like me and using your phone until you can purchase a real dedicated camera, Reeflex is the only photo capture app you need. Right off the rip you get focus peaking, zebra stripes and histogram. Pick which lens you want to use and select HEIF, Raw or ProRaw. Different grid options to compose your shots in creative ways. Flash and timer controls. I’m still blown away that all of that is free! Don’t feel silly and purchase other apps and then get sucked into more in app purchases. Download Reeflex and if you want to get creative with long exposure then spend the extra few bucks. But this is the only photo capture app I use!

Updated Review. Long story short, figured out the difficulty I was having with the Long Exposure mode, was due to my error. Developers are quick to respond, and are working on a really cool update for the newer 48m sensor. Good stuff guys, keep it up.

Got it. It’s ok! Missing basics features. A worthy contender, albeit missing some basic requirement such as on iPad, where orientation is wrong. For instance In landscape mode , getting portrait display. Also not using the full iPad screen estate. On iphone13pro can’t seem to use remote Bluetooth shutter, although on other Canera Apps the Bluetooth remote shutter works fine. I hope these can be fixed soon. Also it will be nice to be able to move the histogram when you need it on, but in the way of the shot. This is not a deal breaker as you can also toggle it off.

Great app, could use an Apple watch shutter though.. The app is great, it has the ability to reach right into every iPhone camera setting directly from the Home Screen. The ability to have your iPhone act as a manual camera exceeds most others similar applications by far!!! There are only two things I wish it had. 1. An Apple Watch shutter button. 2. The ability to enable slow shutter without an additional purchase if you already own one or both of the developers long exposure/slow shutter apps.

Great for night photos!. Just discovered where Reeflex Camera app excels: nighttime photos! Other features are readily available in other iPhone apps. The night-mode is special, as I do not need to hold phone super-still for long periods of time. Worth the purchase!

Amazing Manual camera app for photos. I honestly recommend this app just by how simple and intuitive is the interface’ have a long time I was wanting to test it and it’s surprisingly good! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️!

Needs GPS metadata [Edit: Added in an update]. This is a necessary manual camera app for iPhone users. It allows the user to explicitly choose a lens while the built-in camera app does not. It would be better if the app optionally uses GPS and save it in metadata. Thanks. [Edit: The ability to add location has been added in an update.]

Great app but.... I've been loving this app but one thing I have noticed is I can't use my Bluetooth shutter. My shutter works in the camera app and in Lightroom but not Reeflex?

Long Exposure-Testing. Looks great to me. I want to give a try to this application. Please keep working on it to make it better and listen to other reviewers complaints (Which I don’t have at this point). With Kindest Regards-BR

Great and easy to use app. Josh, I am waiting for the 48mp ProRAW iPhone 14 pro support. Wasn’t it supposed to be released the first half of November?

Headed to be the best.. if it isn’t already. All the powerful, professional controls and they’re simple and easy to use! Why haven’t other apps done this?

Enjoyable to use, aside from some lag and crashing. I like it a lot, overall. The UI is nicer than Halide. This is the most I’ve ever used a 3rd party camera app. I try to make it my go to camera app. The photos it takes don’t look quite so over processed like modern smartphones are doing. Hopefully future updates will address the crashing upon loading and random crashes, and lag when switching between camera modules. Functionality could be improved by making the picture review button load the last picture you took instead of the camera roll. As it is now, clicking the picture review button opens your camera roll so I can open any picture. Then going back one step goes back to the camera roll. I’d rather it function like the native camera app so I can immediately see the last shot taken and then immediately go back to the camera app. I dislike that it’s always a two step process each way to review the last shot and then go back to the camera.

Very solid camera app. This app is overall very great, and I’d recommend it to anyone. I think the best part is having all the manual controls at the bottom of the viewfinder which makes manual adjustments much easier for RAW shooting.

Application not working. Sometimes it kicks you out of the application

Help (fixed). I am unable to open the app. iPhone 14 pro max and it won’t open. Any suggestions? I few minutes after I sent this review the app mysteriously opened up. Time to play!

Photos often do not save!. For me, it’s hit or miss whether a photo will save. Others have same issue. I see where developer says to set access to all photos but that does not work for me.

Game changer!!. Love the freedom this app adds to mobile photography!! It’s easy to use and ups your photography game!! Love it!

Best Camera App. The best camera app on the market, both easy to understand and use

Get this app. I’m a photographer and have struggled to find a phone app that gives you manual computational control over the camera. Then Reeflex comes out and it’s brilliant and free! The best part however is accessed by paying a little extra and gaining access to the long exposure settings. Both light trails / star trails and day time that you could use for clouds etc. you can set it from anywhere between 1 second and 2 hours and then bulb. If you want to get the most out of your phone camera get this app.

Fantastic. This is a really great camera app. One of the best I have tried.

Really good. Works well. Very intuitive. Love the reticles. Needs a FOCUS LOOP!

Metadata + Remote Control. I’m loving this app as it gives me better control. But I am also wondering where I could find the metadata on this app providing the iso and shutter information. In addition to that can you incorporate the shutter button with Bluetooth enabling the user to use a remote control button. In addition, the app crashes when I turn on manual focus peaking while in motion blur and star trail mode. Is there any chance of getting this fixed as I love using the app…

Apple Watch?. Nice app. Would be good to have a complication for Apple Watch to be used as a remote shutter for the long exposure function, which has been long needed in a camera app.

If you love long exposure you need this app!. Really great app - I mainly take long exposure photos and it’s been really fun using it. It’s very easy to navigate the functions. Having the focus highlights and histogram are really useful features. I hope soon they add the Raw capability for long exposures.

Misleading sales pitch. Reeflex IS almost everything the developers say it is, except for one thing... After paying to buy the app, based on what's described and shown on the Appstore, when you go to activate the much touted slow shutter, one of the big selling features, it's somewhat shocking to then be asked to spend more money to sign up to a yearly subscription, or pay more again for 'lifetime' access. I have never had an issue paying for apps, even expensive ones, but I have a huge issue paying for something thinking I was buying product X only to receive X minus Y, then am asked to spend more to get what was advertised to me for the initial price. The app looks great. The selling tactic is not. Considering filing for a refund.

Manual settings reset after each photo. Huge potential but crippled by the fact that after you take a photo, the settings reset back to some auto settings. Eg, I set the exposure duration to 1/10000 and take a very under exposed photo, as I intend to. Then for the next shot, the exposure duration is back to 1/120 or something. Not professional functionality. A pro camera remains on manual until I direct it to do otherwise.

A Real Hit. Reeflex is an amazing camera app, and the recent addition of Slow Shutter mode makes it even better. The Slow Shutter mode works like it should too because it gives you the ability to adjust the shutter speed to smoothen out the capture so you don’t get that “braided” look. As a guy who does a podcast about iPhone photography, I have a lot of camera apps on my iPhone, but Reeflex lives in my Home Row. Great design, ProRAW capability, and the Slow Shutter mode is well with the price.

A must-have app if you love photography!. This is a simple but necessary app for those who just want to snap off beautiful looking long-exposures, but don't have the time or didn't bring your full camera gear. I've taken so many great shots with just my phone and this app! 5/5

Love the App. Love the app super easy to use. Plus you can use the save mode jpg + raw is nice .

Crashes iPhone 7. This app will crash my iPhone every time if I try to use the long expose, paid for an app that doesn’t work

quite good but far from perfect. Don’t have time to write a full review. Title sums it up. If you expect the slow shutter to be included in the apps price don’t be fooled: you have to pay an additional 9.99$ just for for the slow shutter function. Which doesn’t give you much control over the actual exposure time. Only M and L time presets are available.

Response to my poor review of this product.. Josh communicated with me quickly. We had a good text conversation and it turned out to be a win/win. Thank you Josh and team for your kindness and a high quality app. Wishing you great success. James

App keeps crashing middle of use , personally I don’t feel this app is for me .. I would like to get the refund of what I have paid

Great App & Great Support. Had a small issue with photos taking hours or even days to upload to the cloud when shooting RAW. Contacted the developer and he answered shortly and succinctly with good advice that actually worked! In case you’re experiencing this just shut off your other apps and voila. Bob’s your uncle! The app is now flawless. Loving it.

Perfect. This is by far the best app for manual photography on iPhone. I love it but I wish the slow shutter mode would work handheld at the price it costs.

Great app!. First of all amazing app! Manual controls, raw shooting, long exposure, it’s all here. If you’re looking for a one stop camera shop. This is it!

So far, so good. I just started with Reeflex and so far I like what I see. The UI is well thought out and, critically, it seems to be reliable, which a lot of 3rd party camera apps are not. One minor update request - could you add Golden Ratio to the grid types?
