Unusable Remote Deposit. I switched from a local bank to Amex to take advantage of their interest rates. As an unforeseen consequence of using an online bank, most of the health insurers that pay me as a medical provider won’t direct deposit to this account. This means payments now come as a check and this would be a small price to pay for interest if the remote capture worked. It doesn’t. It frequently says it can’t detect my endorsement or finds a mismatch in printed versus written amounts when there is no mismatch. And with no physical branch this becomes a problem. I expect more from American Express.

Rarely works. I’ve had this account for about a month and I’m not impressed. The rewards tracker is not accurate and the app is more often than not, temporarily unavailable or cannot process your request. Very annoying.

Amex business checking. Have seen lots of improvement compared to 2-3 months ago. Especially when it comes to ACH transfers and wire transfers. I would love to see them add Zelle for easier payments and more user friendly desktop websites

No QuickBooks integration. I opened a small business checking account and I would have never ever imagined that you would not provide connectivity to Quickbooks or Quicken. I am now spending many hours downloading transactions and adjusting balances. I should have know better not to go with American Express with small business services. I have reached out to your chat team twice and they say it is a feature they are working on with no expected date for completion. This is embarrassing. You should let small business owners know in big print their accounting will require now more hours because of the their friends at AMEX.

It would be great if…. 1) AmEx kept the same clean look as the credit app (or better to integrate both into one) like the login page 2) Add AmEx business debit to Apple Pay 3) Update the iOS icon, it looks SO busy and old fashioned like it’s from 2010. Let’s all add a big bank icon to let you know! I think there are better ways in this day and age. Idea: why not change the icon to look like the AmEx business debit card? That would be refreshing.

Disappointing. I’m an AMEX lifer and I’m sorely disappointed by this business banking product. They are obviously in over their heads and this will probably tarnish their brand. The fact that they don’t have BASIC integrations like QuickBooks online and Plaid is inexcusable. They should have launched in beta because those gaps are a nonstarter for a digital bank. Also they refused to produce a cashiers check, yet they have their own bank charter. 60k points is not enough for me to stay. Ugh.

Disappointing. Unlike the AmEx credit card app, this app is absolutely useless. Overall I’m disappointed with choosing this bank over others with more helpful robust features. For example, there’s no support chat, no QB integration (!), no Plaid integration, transaction payees are not visible in Account Activity, mobile check deposit is buggy, no integration with Zelle, no savings accounts to pair, and no dedicated desktop login portal. There’s basically zero integration with AmEx credit card accounts besides being able to see balances. I highly doubt I will continue using this bank for long. Take your business to a real bank operating in the modern day.

Close but not quite. It’s a simple app but still fully functional. It needs plenty of work though and the main issue is the constant 2 factor auth demands even though you clearly have specified you want to remember the device. Every time you log in it will request the otp.

What a mistake I made by opening this account!. The worst app I ever, the transfer page doesn’t work, it only has a white screen that says page not found for days and they also don’t have Zelle. So you put your money there it will stay there.

This app doesn’t work!. I have had to delete and download cause it will not recognize my login/password. Same login/password for website works, but not the app. Bank transfers take entirely too long, at least 10 business days! I need to deposit checks, can’t do it cause the app won’t log me on. Can deposit it into my personal account, but then it take too long for funds to be available when I transfer it to my business account! I have had the account for less than 30 days and already annoyed with it!

Simple, hoping for more advancements in the future. I’m hoping they go more towards the fintech route with this app and service. The business checkings is missing ‘reserves’ and also connectivity. I can’t connect with services that use PLAID, Trustly, etc. Even EBay with my eBay selling it won’t take this bank as a Payout option yet. It also doesn’t work with my QuickBooks Self Employed app. I am a loyal Amex customer and so I will wait for these fixes, hoping Amex sees this. Till then I will use a different bank for my small business needs. However once these changes have been made I will switch over to Amex. Amex is awesome usually and I know they must have a lot in store for this app. I will change my review when that occurs.

App is worse than Bank Novo.. There are limited features compared to competitors. The lack of iPad functionality is surprising, especially given the difficult QuickBooks integration.

About Time. I am an Amex loyalist. Almost all of my daily spend is with them. I was waiting for the chance to actually bank with them and now I have that opportunity! Kabbage was ok at best for a business checking account and I knew Amex could do better. App is pretty good for being brand new. Adding debit cards to Apple Pay should be added. Dark mode should be added just like the Amex credit card app. A way to track budgeting and spending should be added. Plaid integration should be added so I can link my account to PayPal and such. Knowing American Express, these things will be updated. Businesses accounts are a massive part of their business and there’s no way they’d have anything but the best for small businesses. It’s a good start.

Unable to access my account on a browser from a PC. Called support and they could not help. Told me someone may get back to me in a couple of days to help me. Really! Been in business for 30 years and this is one of the worst customer service of any banks.

Missing one VERY important feature. I’m really excited for this account. I have several business Amex credit cards. Unfortunately I can’t switch to Amex checking for one reason…. The descriptions are very generic. They only show “ACH Debit” for every type of debit and I have no idea who it’s from. I really want to fully switch but I can’t till this is fixed. I have faith and will update my review when it’s fixed!

Can only sign in 1 out of 20 times. This app shouldn’t be separate from the personal Amex app however my biggest issue is that I can literally sign in one out of maybe 20 times I try because of some error. It’s using the same face sign in as almost every other app these days, however this is the only one that is unreliable

Not ready. This experience was horrible. Do NOT use! No zelle. Fees all over. Savings is not a business account and you can’t transfer from savings to checking. So sad. Really wanted it to work. Signed up for 60,000 bonus and they bulked on due to timing error. I give 2 stars as you do get goo interest but not worth the headache.

Annoyed. The app is fine but I opened an account weeks ago and still haven’t received a debit card. While I wait AMEX has sent me emails saying my account will be closed if I don’t make a deposit. Well, I’m not putting money into the account without a debit card. AMEX needs to get debit cards out faster and not send emails demanding deposits until customers have the ability to use the money they put in the account.

Aweful. I have never needed to right a bad review about an app. Can’t take a photo of a deposit. Tried for two days since they put out the most recent app. Called the customer service many times. You would think they would of made sure that deposits could be made on an online only app! Time to get an entirely new IT department AmEx Business Checking!!!

It’s Better Now. Updating to the latest IOS did not fix my issues with wrong orientations while taking photos to deposit. Then the latest App update came out and now it works quicker and better while depositing checks. Please do not break the app again, it was highly frustrating when it did not work. Overall the Business Checking from Amex is very limited. The account does not show images of the checks that were deposited.

A Good Start. Overall it’s ok for a just launched service. Currently no way to integrate into Quickbooks, no Apple Pay. Hopefully they add some of these things quickly so they can actually compete with what business folks need. I will say I was very impressed with how much assistance you can get through the chat feature and how quick and professional they are. Best of any bank I’ve tried thus far.

Rough Edges, Great Concept. Seemingly great business checking for small businesses. Definitely new. The overall UX does need some polish but the app itself seems great (e.g. notification email for transferring funds has a subject written as “You’re transfer has been submitted.” Should be “Your transfer has been submitted.”).

Connection issues, no plaid, check deposit issues. Where to begin? As mentioned above, I’m having quite the issues with this app. To add onto existing issues, I cannot log in to my account via app, only through the browser. Keep getting error messages even after deleting and reinstalling numerous times. Not to mention the chat option never works and I don’t have time to be on the phone all day. Sorry, Amex. This app isn’t it…

5 business day hold on ACH deposits. It’s untenable. It amounts to a 10 day hold on all deposits. It’s not a “free checking” when you borrow my funds for a week Interest free. Can’t run a business like that. Once it finally clears I’m considering closing the account.

Always not working!!!. I downloaded it for two months already. It worked for the first few days but then it never worked. No matter you restart the phone or delete the app and reinstall. Nothing works! I contacted the customer service and they can’t help me either! So weird! I guess I will just cancel this account!!

Please fix this app. To Amex: we’re all excited to have the opportunity to have a checking account with you. For almost everyone the app has SSO issues, authentication issues, countless other bugs. Please fix this asap, or else we simply won’t be able to use the checking out. It seems as if you guys have no monthly fees because most people can’t even deposit money into the account because the tech is broken, and it would be unfair to charge people. You’re one of the best companies in the world— come on, let’s be better for the customers.

Perfect app. This app has all the features and security that a business account needs. Easy to use and fast. Just perfect.

Worst app ever. First ever review .. can’t login, ever…. Last year when I somehow got into the app, I couldn’t deposit checks… I have zero issues with my Amex credit card app.. this is insane how poor this is and I really don’t want to move my bank account to BofA

Please streamline. Amex might need to go back to the drawing board with this. The business checking app feels awkward and sparse. Currently no integration with QuickBooks Online. Slow ACH transfers and debit card delivery, I’ve had unavailable transferred ACH funds in my account for 5 days that I still can’t use because they haven’t settled yet, that’s way too long in my opinion. My debit card still hasn’t shipped to me, and it’s gna be 2 weeks. In theory this a great concept, business banking with minimal fees and 1.1% APY..but the things that keep my business running smoothly aren’t being met by Amex w this, please enhance these work flows and practical functionality that I need of a business checking accounts aim to meet.

Waste of time. Don’t bother with Amex business checking. Mobile app doesn’t work. I’ve been trying to deposit a check All day and now have to get a new one from a vendor since I wrote “mobile deposit only.” Customer service has no solutions, except honoring my account a closure request. 👎

No plaid connection and no zellle?!!!. Wow Amex I own 3 cards with you and thought this would be a great app to use for my business. I can’t send Zelle. I can’t connect to plaid so many things I want to use to run my business smoothly i won’t be able to do with this bank. So many people have complained. They pushed out a bank account before they were ready for to have basic functionality and a good user experience. Now I have to do the dreaded task of opening another account elsewhere after I just moved everything in my business over. Thanks Amex

NOT for Business Banking. This account and the app are the WORST! Customer Service is Excellent as always with Amex but they are left to put lipstick on a pig. Only the Owner of the account can have the ability to perform transactions. Great if you’re a sole proprietor but anything larger than that makes this account worthless. I own the company and the account. I have a CFO and accounting department to handle all financial transactions. As the CEO, I’m the LAST person that should be responsible for making deposits or payments. Now the app doesn’t allow me to login and no one knows why so it can’t be fixed. Nothing like getting locked out of your own account. Come on AMEX… you’re better than this!

Cannot reopen an account after closing it?. What is that about? If you open a business account and then close it, you cannot open a new account under the same business name or under your own name? That’s very strange.

Waiting on Quickbooks Integration. The account itself is great, with a terrific APY for up to $500k, but some key business features are missing. Transaction descriptions rather than ACH credit and debit is a big missing feature for accounting purposes. Also, Quickbooks integration is non-negotiable for my business. I’m anxiously waiting for this account to be everything I need, because it has so much potential!

Weak but it essentially works.. The support chat is infuriating. I hope they improve it. Having an iOS app for cards and a separate app for cards and checking was not explained very well. Setup my account yesterday. After a chat for over an hour I still cannot test the check deposit function. Disappointed but hopeful.

Do yourself a favor. Do yourself a favor and steer clear from this app/bank. There are no instructions for the endorsement they want for Mobile check deposits, which is different from other banks and impossible to guess. Apparently you have to write “for mobile deposit at EANB only” underneath your endorsement signature for the check to be cleared. Well, they didn’t have instructions for this stipulation to mobile deposits on their mobile app. Due to this situation, i have been out $14,000 for 4 days, and my wife had to drive three hours on her day off so I can write a few words beneath my signature and deposit again. Customer service experience was extremely painful, they did not resolve the issue. Once the check clears I’m pulling my funds and closing the account, I suggest you don’t even bother.

Horrible app. At least it’s free?. Have an issue depositing a check? Delete the app and reinstall. Have an issue seeing checking account balance? Delete the app and reinstall. Have an issue in general regardless of what it is in the app? Delete the app and reinstall. Only thing keeping me around is the interest on the checks I finally receive after having to mail them in.

Online Bank Checks are not Accepted from other Banks. Some clients of ours issue personal checks through their online bill pay system. Some banks send these checks without signatures, instead it reads “signature on file”(TD bank, M and T, Webster etc…). Amex will not deposit these checks, you will need to discuss this at the issuing bank and they will explain that they’ve never heard of this restriction before. In addition to checks not being deposited, our company has also had issues getting timely notifications delivered of the denied deposits. As of August, they cannot email deposit notifications to some private email addresses(including ours), therefore we receive hundreds of paper deposit tickets mailed to us every month. Furthermore as previously mentioned in other reviews, you cannot have personal and business checking accounts simultaneously, which slows down transaction time by default. And if you cancel your business checking account, you cannot reopen one ever again under that REIN entity. This is the 3rd month of us holding our account and we are going to transfer to another bank soon.

Good idea, poor execution. BEWARE. I was thrilled to see that Amex now offer both personal and business checking. Paired with the personal and business credit cards I already have,I was very excited to be able to do all my financial business under one roof with American Express. Unfortunately they had other ideas. You cannot hold both a personal and business checking account, only one or the other. This is not noted anywhere, so be carefulI if you are like me and need more than one checking account. I will gladly update my review should this ever change.

Join a credit union. This app is way too weak and slow for it to have the Amex branding. No integration with any app. No service when trying to chat with representatives. Not even comparable with the normal app and on top of that, slow banking. Save yourself the banking issues and join a union for your business banking.

Very Good App. Very fast app it uses Face ID to open the app, what we really want is Zelle integration, Apple Wallet having this would be a very good service, I just open my accounts so will see how it goes in the next couple Months, and yes it’s missing integration on QuickBooks but knowing Amex they will have this add pretty soon, Keep Up The Good Work!

Worst Banking Site. I don’t know how Amex allows this site to continue to exist. It crashes endlessly, requires multiple attempts to log into the site every time I want to access my account and forget about depositing checks, you’ll need to photograph it about 5 times—even though every image is clear. I regret my decision to open this account.

I’m a big fan of American Express for many years. I was very thrilled to know AMEX open a business checking account. Almost a year with them and not much complains beside that I can’t use it for my broker account to trade stocks. There’s definitely more enhancement to be done like more details about each transaction on the app page without clicking it to see the detail would be great. Over all highly recommended !

Close but no cigar. I love the feel and look of the app not overly complicated and nice feeling. Service is amazing. But y’all still haven’t partnered with plaid?!! Not ok. Every bank has this integration. QBO is necessary for almost every business owner. Can’t get into wave apps bc there isn’t a plaid partnership. Tried applying for Kabbage LOC offer I received in the mail and there is no integration between kabbage & this account?! Seriously? It’s the same company! Get your ducks in a row. Anyways please fix bc now I have a new business and you didn’t receive my business due to your subpar integrations with other apps that are essential to running a business. Please do better and I’ll come back with open arms

Kinks and More Kinks. I’ve had about 2 months with this account now and a smidge frustrated. The lack of QBO integration is mindless. Why would they even consider launching without this to begin with. They should have a warning about this at signup to be transparent. I had to cancel a payroll subscription with a company because they could not use Amex business checking for processing my payroll. I am pretty uncertain of their mobile check deposits so for now I am still putting them into my local bank and making ACH transfers so I can reap some okay interest rate. Why does my personal account have a 3+% interest rate and this account is less than half of that? Overall the customer service has been great but their systems move like molasses.

Business Checking?? Not anymore. So now, Amex is doing away with the Business Checking app — which had VERY limited functionality already — and forcing a switch to Business Blueprint. I downloaded this app and it has ZERO BANKING FUNCTIONALITY. I cannot even process a a payment to anyone. There is no payment option on the menu at all. I cannot see upcoming scheduled payments. Is this a joke?! I signed up for this account because Amex is such high quality (on the card side) and I expected the same with banking. This has been a nightmare. I am a small business owner with a marketing/strategy/branding background at the C-level. I am stunned at how schizophrenic the branding is for this product. Is it Business Banking? Cabbage? Blueprint? It’s all over the place. Who is running this business unit? Where is the consumer insight work? I cannot even search my past transactions for tax time to understand what I have paid to what vendors (my expenses). If you haven’t signed up for this account yet — don’t. This product isn’t ready for prime time in any way.

Doesn’t seem to be able to carry out basic functionality like depositing checks. Just got this account. One check did manage to go through and be deposited but each subsequent one has been rejected with no reason listed. The software on one didn’t seem to recognize the amount listed as the correct amount (it definitely matched). I’m glad our business is using this as a separate savings account and not for anything critical.

So far so bad…. I have had an AMEX credit card for years, and find the app and account easy to manage. I was looking forward to an easy, online banking solution for my small business. But No! 1. I try to log in to the app and it won’t recognize my password. Every. Single. Time. Well, that’s not effective. 2. I transferred money from one bank account to this to set it up, more than a week ago, and it’s stilllllllllll pending. I can’t use the account if they don’t let me make deposits. AMEX, in short, your business bank account IS HORRIBLE! Please function like an online bank if that’s what you claim to be. Until then, please don’t call this an online checking account.

Mobile check deposits rarely work. Transfers are quick and easy and I like integration with my credit cards. The problem is that depositing checks rarely works for me and almost always takes multiple tries. You get an email that doesn’t tell you why it was rejected. Unacceptable for an online bank. I can’t make this my main account for my business because of this wasted time and effort getting checks deposited. Also, it states all over the website that support is 24/7 but when you click through to the support page it says call during their business hours. No online chat feature either. That’s not 24/7.

Cannot deposit checks suddenly.. The app will not allow me to take a picture of the check. The image is rotated. Sometimes you can manually take the photo; however, I receive an error making the deposit. Useless app

Doesn’t work. Imagine owning a massive company and can’t even make a decent app to use. Seriously consider firing whoever is in charge of this project

Unable to log in. Unable to log in. I see this is also a problem for others.

A Good Start to 1st Launch. For a first iteration, this product is good but there is still features/in-app services to add that hopefully will be integrated in the near future. One observation for the mobile app is that so far, they have not made a view compatible with iPads such as the full screen/landscape view most apps have. The view right now is a portrait view with a screen so narrow it looks like I am viewing from a phone screen, not iPad. One other suggestion is to pull-in/connect business user credit cards so we can view our banking and credit card all-in-one. Right now, I have to log into Amex.com Credit Card side to look at my business credit card.

Mobile check deposit doesn’t work.. I need to deposit checks in my account. The mobile check deposit system doesn’t work.

Is there anything less than 1 star?. Ever since opening an account I have had nothing but problems submitting remote deposits. I use a stamp with exactly the information AMEX requires but constantly run into sub,Ossian problems. Tech support does nothing more than say delete then reinstall the app. Right now, less than half remote deposits I submit make it through and I end up MAILING them to the Salt Lake office. The lack of Android app is another major pain point. I’ve been an account holder for over a year and the problem has never improved.

Implement Face ID for logging in. Great application but needs Face ID like the other AMEX applications.

Most Horrible App and Brand. Is this really amex? Never used such a bad app before.

Should’ve trusted reviews - This is not AmEx Level quality. I was enticed by AmEx to open Business Checking due to long-standing card relationships which I’ve always valued. This is NOT the AmEx I’ve come to know and value. I tell myself, this has to be a 3rd party using AmEx name/brand. Avoid! I opened a biz account with over $5k in Sept. Acct was funded by an external existing account that I linked and verified thru AmEx process. Paid some bills along the way. Balance never dropped below $5k. On 11/11, I submitted an external transfer of $590 from my AmEx account to the linked, verified, external account. My balance still remaining above $5k post-transfer request. On 11/18, ONE WEEK LATER, this small external ACH transfer was still pending. When I called I was told “we had an error and didn’t discover it for a few days (11/15) and none of those went through.” I asked why they didn’t re-send and they said “we can’t do that.” I asked why I wasn’t called, emailed, texted…notified in some way, I was told “a message is being drafted today (one week later) that will go out later.” I asked if I re-submit request when would it go through. I was told “1-2 business days.” This assumes no other delays, if so, it could be another week and a half because the next 2 days are the weekend and next week is Thanksgiving holiday. Whoever is operating this institution is violating Reg CC guidelines, is falsely representing ACH transfers and is holding individuals/businesses funds and tying them up for their gain. Buyer Beware and steer clear!

I Can’t Log In. When I try to log into the app using my username and password on my phone, I am sent a one-time verification code via email. When I switch to my email to get the code and then switch back to the app it automatically resets everything without giving me the chance to enter the code. I’m then asked to log in from the beginning again. The app will never allow me to enter the code after I’ve retrieved it. I’m using my phone and don’t have 2 separate devices with me to bypass this issue. Very inconvenient.

Great App but…. Fantastic app, works well just like the Amex app but please release this for the Google Play store ASAP.

DO NOT DOWNLOAD. The absolute WORST app I have ever came across, constantly glitching and a complete disappointment of a service on Amex’s part. I would HIGHLY advise getting a checking account with them, it’s basically useless.
