StordyPDX - A fun sports and pop culture app
Locker Room is a great avenue for engaging with people who share your interests. I like that it’s not pigeon-holed only to sports, but that you can chat about anything from politics to music to the latest episode of The Bachelorette. From what I’ve experienced the other users are friendly, inclusive and respectful, which makes for a safe environment—something that’s simply hard to find on most social media platforms. Getting direct access to professional athletes for a real-time AMA or picking the brain of a respected podcaster, journalist or beat writer are pretty amazing features too.

I love Locker Room, the vibes are immaculate so many great people on there, lots of well known sports athletes and media members and also regular fans. Not just sports though any interest you can think of there’s a room and if there isn’t, make one yourself. I’d give it 10 stars if I could.

Would give it zero stars if possible. This app puts users on a waitlist like a frat party you never wanted to go to. The first podcast I land on is a bunch of 12 year olds talking about chicken nuggets. All in all this is a mess of an app and I’d rather listen to COD game chat in 2012 than any podcast on this app. Hope this helps.

But way too complex to start a Room: I’ve tried opening one yesterday and after one successful intent, whenI try to open another I get a message “this user already had a room”. I gave up after many failures. Same message every time.

Rated it 5 stars for the potential it has. The one feature that really seemed to encourage people to stay on the app was giving and collecting gems. The developer has stripped the ability to see how many gems you’ve earned, which has really killed off a lot of formally active users. Gems may be worthless, but people seem to like them. Perhaps a better approach would have been to enlarge the app around gems? Maybe the ability to send any kind of emoji to users? The underlying app itself and concept is solid and could really take off if enough talented room hosts make a presence. As of now it’s quietly dying - which is a shame as it’s a far better app than Clubhouse. Another quirk of the app that I hope gets addressed is the public chat is constantly disappearing. Old posts are auto-deleted after about an hour. That’s really short sighted as it kills off conversations that otherwise might thrive.
As of now the app is a solution without a problem. Most don’t know what to do with it. I really hope the developer makes a few tweaks to bring back the thousands that originally flocked to it, before the updates chased them away. It’s actually a pretty cool app!
