Thank you!. Finally - a game I can play against everyone in my family, and win every single time! The video game world is not exactly set up for people like me - people who are not lingering in their teens. But here at last, there is a benefit to having lived long enough to remember what words looked like when they were more than text abbreviations. And when my husband and daughter get tired of losing to me, we can sit on the couch together to play against a stranger. While I am busy forming words like there’s no literary tomorrow, my family can get busy lobbing spiders and bombs for me. I have to admit... it’s honestly nice to hear, “You’re awesome, mom,” come out of my daughter’s mouth in regards to a game. Well, ok, it’s nice to hear those words at all. But Kitty Letter definitely gave me a few points in her eyes. :)

The game cheats. When you play a stranger there are times it’s obvious that the game is playing against you and not a person. There will be points where there is no possible way for your opponent to continue forming words with the available letters yet continue doing so. A recent game there was two possible palindromes to make from the four letters available. After my opponent and I both unleashed them, they were able to send out more taco cats multiple times even though it was impossible.

This game rocks!!. Seriously love this game and not just cuz I love cats. I love the graphics. Love the weapon perks. And I especially love the grumblings that goes on when the game ends. I don't even mind when I lose and I am told LOSER!!! Too funny. And it's so easy to play a friend. And my kitties I send out are black cat ninjas. Loving this game. Try it out. The only thing I am not clear on is how to unlock the different houses. Probably costs money but if you love word games and a fast pace and you are sick of games loaded with ads and 48 or 72 hr waits for opponents to play back this game is purrrfect for you.

Great Concept, Poor App Implementation.. This game has an amazing concept and really innovative/interesting mechanics when compared to other word games. The storyline is great, the jokes are funny, and I really like how it implements strategy rather than just “find words fast”. However....one thing I really really hate is the lack of responsiveness in letter selection. Idk why it’s so broken, but often it misses the first letter I pick or won’t snap to later letters. Frequently this causes delays that make the whole game lag behind where I should be and I end up playing an annoying catch up game...which is then further hindered by missed letter selection. Please fix your app so I can actually enjoy the jokes and storyline without having to be annoyed by bad programming.

Great fun but has bug. I was really enjoying this game until I found a bug in Arcade mode. If you play the same set of letters long enough, it forgets your previous entries. At the same time, the opponent has also run out of words... so you can continue to play the same set (using words you have already found) unopposed for as long as you want, racking up endless points.

Buggy. Game is fun but just now, I lost all my progress in the story mode and all of my stats (best word played, wins/losses in multiplayer games). It reset everything so the update didn’t quite fix it. Players should be able to create a profile that they can save or delete their data and start over, if they choose to. Also, it gets quite laggy after playing multiple games. In multiplayer games, both players should be required to opt into a rematch instead of one player starting the game when the other may want to just exit the game. Maybe put in a countdown for the match to start so the other player can leave. I do like the game but there’s room for improvement and bugs to fix.

Pretty good. Honestly this game is great. This game is like one of those unscrambler games made 20x better. My only issue is the in-game purchases. The in-game purchases only work on the avatars and not on the troops or your house. I used about 4 dollars and nothing but the avatar part seemed to work. Everything else though is amazing. There is a story mode and once you get done with that there is an arcade mode. The arcade mode allows you to just see how many times you can hit the neighbors base before you die. If you get sick of that then you can play against family and friends. You can also play against random people!

Huge fan of The Oatmeal. The game is fun, but super buggy (for me). I am sure it will be addressed in future updates. Among the bugs: cannot ever find an opponent and when I go back, the menu for single player or multiplayer is frozen. It also seems to automatically rematch me even though I didn’t select it to. And I have been stuck playing what appears to be an opponent who is not doing anything. Also, a HUGE thank you for making the game free to play with no stupid in-app purchases! I bought a $3 pack to say thank you for not structuring the game with garbage like life limits and coins. MUCH APPRECIATED.

Number one word game. I don’t really like word games because they’re all “oh, look at this leaf and make words, aren’t you relaxed?” No, i’m not relaxed, because i’m in the middle of a stressful puzzle i can’t solve! But this game just seems easier, and it gives you more letters if you need them. Plus, it has laughs and a good storyline and cutscenes that are actually entertaining, as to distract from the fact that you’re basically playing single-player scrabble. As a cat person, i really like the whole cat aspect of it, the animations, drawings, and sound affects are all really good and you can tell there was a lot of work put into it.

Words like no others. To say this game is unlike any other word game I’ve ever played is a bit of an understatement. It’s weird, humorous, and challenging. I generally don’t have trouble unscrambling word puzzles but many of the words I encountered were ones I’d never come across. I kind of wish there was a way to make a list of them. I’ve already replayed the game all the way through again and have been enjoying arcade mode. If there’s one critique I can offer it’s that the game should be longer but fingers crossed, that’s something we’ll see in the future.

Fun but buggy. Fun game concept and addictive to play, if you try not to focus too much on the actual workings of the game... half the time I’m playing the cats seem to walk right past my house and not count against me, and the other half my cats do the same to the neighbors house. The game gets even more glitchy if I play to too much without reloading the app. The letter bank has the letters too close together so it’s hard to make words when the pace of the game speeds up and you have a lot of letters. It also seems like there’s no way to tell when the letter bank will reset. I would love to see the bugs fixed since it is such a fun game on the occasions that it does work. I would also love arcade levels with the game variations that are in the story section!

Nice..but stop erasing my profile??. Twice now everything has been reset. Same phone same everything. Its twice since the most recent update. Ive lost my purchases, my stats, everything. Its getting annoying. The game itself is great hence 4 stars. This profile loss is not. And no my kitty’s name isn't vulgar or anything. Loosing my purchases in particular is extremely frustrating and seems a major bug.

Cool!! 🐱🐱. Just downloaded this app, and love it already!! It’s fun and the graphics are hilarious! I have other word games like this but kitty letter makes it competitive. I Like that you can play with friends. My only complaint is that when you do single player arcade against the computer, their cats move WAY faster than mine!! The computer has some unfair advantages. Ugh...😖 But other than that I would totally recommend especially if you plan to play against friends. 👍

Needs ctyalir. Graphics are clear. Rules are not. Some foreign words accepted, others not. I have used up all letters making words but it does not move on and the cats keep marching to my house while the game decides when to spiral on. Words are too obscure to make it fun. Zaikai? What word is that? Japanese, yes. But I tried German words and they are rejected. I tried olde English. Also rejected. Also for some reason my high score was completely erased after an upgrade. Overall it can be fun for a few distracting minutes. Vocabulary needs improvement and clear parameters.

Little buggy. As a major word game nerd, I adore this game. I love the tongue-in-cheek humor, the illustrations, and battling the crazy cat man. I would rate this five stars but for the bugs. It lags quite a bit when going from chapter to chapter and when it counts down the artwork and countdown don’t match up. Often I enter the game and it gets rid of my first round of letters because the game started before I could actually see the playing field. Otherwise it’s absolutely brilliant and I don’t want to put my phone down.

Decent. Frustrating that some real words aren’t valid while made up words are. Leaves you just throwing letters together a lot instead of trying to create real words. Takes the vocab aspect out of the game which is disappointing. I’ll play a bit more but it won’t be a regular game due to it not actually being about vocabulary. Also another bug where my cats sometimes don’t pick up the item, they just walk over it and that is super frustrating. Dislike that if you fail a level you have to click through all the level intro again.

Fun!. Fun to play with a nice story line and great illustrations. Only frustration is speed changes rapidly and you can’t choose to change the vortex, it changes it for you, so sometimes you’re stuck with no way to get rid of kitties when you’ve already played all the words that start with a certain letter. Would be cool to be able to change/reload vortex yourself. Also not super easy to use many of the special presents because either not enough is happening or too much is. Sometimes hard to hit right letters and can’t go back on a word so that can slow you down. Overall quite fun though and excellent for a free game!

Good game with one technical issue. Been playing this game for a few months now and it has been very fun. The only problem I occasionally see is that online games can have some serious desync issues that basically throw everything off. Both players can be playing the same words at the same time but only one player loses their cats when they collide, there can be a noticeable pause when a new letter wheel is supposed to load even though the other player has already started with theirs, etc.

Fun game! Wish multiplayer worked with friends. The single player mode was super fun to play through. Exactly the kind of humor you'd expect from The Oatmeal! The tacocats are especially cute. The multiplayer with a friend option doesn't seem to work yet. We tried a few times and were never able to connect with each other's codes. I also ended up in an endless game with a stranger where they weren't taking damage and didn't seem to be playing anymore.

Love The Oatmeal, fun game. As a huge fan of all things Oatmeal, I’ve really enjoyed this game so far. The story mode is hilarious and helps teach you some tricks for multiplayer. That being said, multiplayer does have some bugs need to be ironed out. At least when playing a stranger, it often freezes at different points during the match. Sometimes you just need to quit since it won’t reset the vortex or it just freezes gameplay. Otherwise super fun and I hope some more updates roll out. Big supporter!

Love it, but keep having to reload bc buggy. I like the multiplayer version and can play several games in a row without getting bored. But l’ve had to delete and re-download the app at least three times because it’ll just get stuck on a blank screen. This latest time, instead of a blank screen, the music and sound effects have stopped working. And they’re on of my fave parts of the game. It’s so funny to hear them say “nice job”’or “Loooser” at the end, and it gives u clues when your playing as to what words work. So a little frustrated at this point :(

Fun game, but very annoying bugs. This is a fun game that I really enjoy, but it seems like every other week or so, my profile gets completely deleted. It’s a bummer to lose my high score in the arcade, but what’s super annoying is having to do the whole story tutorial over again to unlock the features. Especially the stupid deer song. It was funny the first time, but after 5-6 times, it is super annoying and there’s no way to fast forward. It is really a drag when I just want to play the game.

Bugs (Not Including Spider Pugs). Fun game, the game is playable and it is fun to see more lore for Exploding Kittens-the premises in the story mode are very funny. The art style and comedy are perfectly in sync. There are a number of glitches I encountered during gameplay. For me, it’s hard to tell if some of them are intentional one way or the other. The items in my inventory are sometimes used by the enemy CPU or when I use them, they may impact enemy cats instead of mine. I am also unsure if I am supposed to be able to see the enemy inventory because it is sometimes visible to me. Looking at other reviews, I see that others also had trouble where finger taps were sometimes not picked up-a manual letter scramble fixes it but I would prefer rather to spell than scramble. Also, the final boss may use letters I already spelled, is that intentional too?

Brilliant sound effects for a good game. Every time I open up this app, my partner starts to laugh because the sound effects are so over-the-top. The story mode was quite enjoyable and I am pleasantly surprised at how addictive the arcade mode has been. It would be nice to move the collected weapons a bit further away from the vortex. Sometimes items get “trapped” under a letter and I’m not able to drag them out without tapping it *just* right. The dictionary is being used here is a bit suspect. “Exing” is an example of a word it suggested that I could have played...It’s not a word and also - I did try it and it wasn’t accepted! 😅 I do really enjoy this game, and I hope to see some improvements in the future.

Fun for 20 mins. I’m a fan of The Oatmeal, and was really excited about this game. However, it isn’t much fun beyond the single player story. I get bored playing single player to beat my score. The multiplayer is over too quickly to employ strategy or game mechanics. I feel as if I never actually look at the letters to really think about the words I am creating, while I never really look at the playing field to counter my opponent. It is more stressful and frustrating than fun. Maybe they can come up with a slower single player version with goals. I don’t know how I would fix this game.

Good, but.... I love the Oatmeal (one of my cats looks just like this!), like simple little fun brain-teaser games, traditionally didn’t like word games but this one changed my mind about them somewhat. It’s a great little game for enjoying a little break between tasks or what have you, even after the excitement of the new game marathon obsession has worn off. My biggest problem with it, which I hope they fix with an updated version, is that once you’ve gone through all the levels, they’re unlocked to play at will... for a while. Then, they mysteriously all lock again and you have to start over from scratch with the full stories, etc. There are a few levels in the game for which I just don’t care that much, and having them unlocked was a nice way of playing the levels I liked and skipping the ones I didn’t. Now that my game has re-locked for a THIRD time, I just don’t see myself warring with futility again in the hope that once I unlock a level, it’s going to stay that way. :-/ Update: just locked for a fourth time. I’ve decided I can live without it. :-(

Lots of fun even with some flaws.. Quite buggy. As you play more and more games it slows down, the sound falls out of sync. Multiplayer often loses connection. Arcade mode. Challenge yourself. Love it. Unhappy that it doesn’t know some words that seem obvious and others that it lets you get away with would certainly upset a purist, but it is fun nonetheless. Clearly a few memory leaks as the intro creme becomes out of sync after a few dozen rounds, but I’m sure that will improve over time. Fun game and well worth the price.

Love the game, but multiplayer seems to have intermittent server issues. Love word games and this is a hilarious and inventive variation of the genre. Story mode is rather perfunctory; wish it was a bit longer and hope they might add a bit in the future. My only complaint is that they may be a victim of their own success as multiplayer matchups with strangers seems a bit unreliable at this time. Having a background in high-scale services I would hazard a guess that they need to scale up virtual server capacity and deployment. That’s quite a normal thing to encounter as a game or service gains adoption so I would expect this to improve soon.

Please fix the current bugs!. I find this game entertaining in the best of ways! It makes me laugh out loud, and it challenges me to focus on finding words as well as learning new challenges as I 'level up'... being NOT a gamer, this is all new to me. This is the Very First game I have ever downloaded and likely will be the only one unless The Oatmeal comes up with another thing like this. I'd give it 5 stars but currently cannot play it because it has a bug that won't let me make any words. PLEASE oh please make da bugs go away!

Too buggy. The bugs in this game just blow up its potential. Multiplayer still has issues with not showing attacking cats - screen blank then suddenly health goes down. Same with power ups - my friend watches the ham/fork poof from screen when I claim them, yet saw none of my cats heading towards power up. The real annoying part though is game seems to take a kitty poo every few days and all your stats and progress end up in litter box. I’ve completed full story mode twice to get everything unlocked.. fine for a while and then next multiplayer game I’m back to randomly generated name and story mode resets to fresh player.

I am obsessed but…. I want to give this five stars because I play this game obsessively. I love word games and cats and The Oatmeal so all my favorite things. BUT, in single player arcade mode, it will randomly start my game over, even if I have paused it. Sometimes I’ll be close to beating my top score and will go eat dinner and come back to find my game is gone and a new one has begun. Please fix this! It is the only bad thing in an otherwise brilliant, addictive game.

Clever, challenging, fun!. This game is awesome, a mashup of Boggle and tower defense/survival. I played through the story mode (which also serves as a tutorial) so that I could play arcade mode (which is the only mode I want to play, I don’t care about multiplayer). I really like arcade mode. The pace slowly increases, but it’s not stressful to me. It’s fun to try to beat my high score. I haven’t had the game delete progress yet, like others have mentioned, so I hope that is fixed because I wouldn’t want to play story mode again just to get to the arcade mode. I suggest the developers should let arcade mode always be unlocked for those of us who already know how to play, so if the game resets we can still play arcade mode. I haven’t had any issues yet though. I appreciate the super fair monetizing for such a good game, and no ads. I like supporting developers like this and plan to make one of the optional IAP (purely cosmetic, thank you) to support them. This is the only word game that’s ever felt fun to me. Thank you, it’s a keeper!

Great games. Couple of bugs.. Big fan. My current favorite game. Spend a lot of time playing. However there seems to be a glitch that allows the computer opponents to repeat words including high value words. Would be optimal to be able to wait for human opponents rather than computer opponents if so desired. Would also be optimal to be able to communicate with equally matched opponents to allow more idealized matches. Occasionally seems that opponents are able to submit too many words too fast to be real - I’m all for playing excellent opponents, but there cannot be huge lines parallel and simultaneous to one another without a glitch. Agree with previous comments about increasing lag with ongoing play.

Fun twist to word game, poorly executed. The storyline and hilarity of the exploding kittens is top notch. Play controls? Not so much. - issues “unselecting” a letter on the vortex. If you screw up you have to start all the way over... and when it’s fast? Too bad you lose. - issues selecting letters.. sometimes I’d swipe to a letter and it wouldn’t register as being swiped too. This includes the first letter to begin the word AND dragging to the next letter. - the vortex changes on you on it’s own, no way to trigger it yourself or stop it (especially if you’re trying to spell a word and can’t because of the aforementioned select/deselect issues) - sometimes using items doesn’t work. It just goes back into the item pool. Maybe I was dropping them wrong but I’m pretty sure I was following the guides. - when the vortex has a lot of letters, it’s super easy to “pick up” a lot of unintentional letters on the way to swiping. Shuffling the letters helps but the cognitive load of figuring out where the letters moved to is sometimes just as bad. These issues made later levels of campaign super difficult and arcade impossible to enjoy.

Yes. I now have a love for exploding kittens. Off the game topic, I have 2 of your board games and they are AMAZING! I have the game of cat and mouth and exploding kittens. I love kittens and your games are so funny and fun. I couldn’t ask for any more in a brand!! Y’all are amazing. This game is so fun and i’ve only had it for less than an hour now. The art is on point for the humor of the game. Pure amazingness. 🗿❤️👌 I wish I had more to say but your games are to amazing to describe 💖👌

Cute and addictive. Cute game—tons of bugs as in actual flaws however. The game you see is not necessarily what your opponent sees—I play my fiancé and we are sitting next to one another so we can see both scores—Frequently we both “win” or one of us is “winning” meanwhile from the other’s perspective our house already exploded. Makes sense since I routinely “win” against opponents with way better words. It’s still addictive. Also I randomly can request a rematch (not always), and more than half the time I am unable to add the pugbug to my opponents vortex.

Memory leakin' greatness (please read). This game is awesome—the art, story, gameplay and music are all excellent. Very original & fun to play. Can't wait to try multiplayer. Did I mention the music? Reminds me of a mix of The Neverhood and Cirque du Soleil. Very cool. I wish there were more tracks. Serious question: any chance you can make this track available to purchase as a single on iTunes? Or release a game soundtrack? Thanks in advanced. There is definitely a memory leak that causes the whole thing to chug: if you play through story mode in one sitting, by the end of it the "3..2..1" audio countdown will be way out of sync with what appears on screen, and you'll see frame rate drops elsewhere etc. I assume this'll be easy for the developers to fix. I'm on an iPhone 8+ running the latest iOS. One other annoyance: I am dying all kinds on the final chapter. I wish I didn't have to tap through the story scenes each time I retry. The story is great, of course, but when I'm already in that context I don't need to see it for each retry.

Better as single player. I was initially excited to play this with friends. But setting it up isn’t as easy as I’d like. And it’s live. I was expecting something that you could take turns in, like Words With Friends. Also, jumping right into a multiplayer with a friend, you don’t know the strategies. You learn that from playing the single player story, where The Oatmeal Comics really come alive. It’s a little laggy and has frozen a few times. It’s addicting, though!

Bug with the online playing mechanism. Really clever game. I love how they used the vocabulary scramble game and turned it into something exciting. I thought the story was annoying, and I can’t get my family to play with me because of the story. My biggest complaint about the game itself is when I’m playing with a stranger, for some reason I can’t explain, I will be playing with them and it will just stop working. My cats walk right past the house, the person I’m playing with doesn’t respond, no damage is done, and if I try to quit I am penalized with a loss. I have to close the app entirely and load it again. I hope the devs fix this issue. Otherwise great game, very creative.

Join the Resistance and download this game!. The Catpocalypse is upon us... First, they came with their bombs and a superior command of the space time continuum with the ability to summon super massive black holes...but we managed to defeat them with lasers...Next they turned our own children against us and forced us to build untold abominations from the exploded parts of creatures from the first war...we again defeated the invaders but they left us with a parting gift...crabs...we all got them...and not the kind from Alaska...with the devastation of the first two wars we are left with only one option to defend ourselves...burritos...only time will tell if humanity is able to survive this feline onslaught....

Great game with some control issues. This is a great game with a hilarious concept and style. The tutorials and explanations are a blast to navigate and the game itself is engaging and challenging. My main suggestion for feedback would be to improve the touch recognition in the letter vortex. Often I think I touched a letter but it didn’t register. There’s another popular letter vortex game that does a great job registering touches, so something similar would be ideal. Overall this is an awesome, casual, and hilarious game that I highly recommend.

Very nice, but doesn’t last. This game is great. It’s different than other word games similar to it (for example wordscapes, which is good) and is funny because it’s something from The Oatmeal. The only problem is it lasts two seconds. You can beat it in less than half an hour, and everything else gets boring fast. Otherwise it’s fun while it lasts. Very good for if you’re expecting a short game. It’s similar to how The Oatmeal describes cats. They are furry cruise missiles, not intended for long voyages but brief bursts of light across the sky. They find their way across the universe and crash into your heart like a purring, misanthropic meteorite.

fun but flawed. The game is clever and entertaining while it lasts (story mode is maybe 20 minutes, tops). But the input system is flawed—the letters are too close together, so you’ll struggle to complete words correctly. Since you have to focus so hard on the tiny letters, you can’t really look at the play area, so any strategy to counter certain letters is impossible — by about round 2 of arcade mode, you’re basically just spamming words and hoping for the best. And there’s no way to predict when your letter bank will reset (it seems to be an inactivity timer?) so you can’t factor that into your gameplay. Perhaps when you’ve gotten enough words or completed the pangram you could reset the word bank yourself? Also, external keyboard input is not supported — that’s a shame. Many people depend on alternative input devices.

Hilarious twist unlike many other word games. I have always loved The Oatmeal AND word games. This game is a great combination of the two, as it’s more than a word search... it’s more of a hilarious competition against !!!exploding kittens!!! as featured in The Oatmeal comics for many years. It’s equal parts funny and interesting, and it actually feels like I’m playing a game with a purpose, whereas other word games I don’t feel a purpose after a while. Since it’s in its earlier stages as a game, I’d say this is a game mostly for native English speakers right now just from the challenge of putting together words from scrambled letters, but I’m sure the creator has in mind the idea of it expanding to other languages when it gains speed!!!

Fun but replay annoying. The animations are fun and the cut scenes between levels are mostly humorous. However, I don’t pass every level on the first try and there should be an ability to skip the cut scenes and get right back into the game. The most annoying example of this is the deer songs at the beginning of level 3. It was mildly funny the first time. After trying to beat the level for the third time I found waiting for for the “ad” to complete highly annoying.

Great but has some glitches.. I love this game and I highly recommend it but it does have a couple of quirks. Sometimes during play a stranger mode it seems like opponents are able to play words more than once. I wish there was a way to see every word an opponent plays after the game. It also slows down after a few games and I need to close the app and restart to get things back to normal.

10/10 in humor, interest, and just being a good game in general.. Hello! I think Kitty Letter is a fun, addictive, and challenging game. I love it! For an example of it being challenging, I am stuck on Level 9 of the story mode😂 I promise, I think you’ll love it if you are reading this so you get an idea about the game, If you are I am going to explain more about the game. Kitty Letter is a game by the creators of Exploding Kittens, a card game with humor, strategy, and is great to play with friends and family! Just like Exploding Kittens, Kitty Letter is a strategy game with the same great humor as the Exploding Kittens game, except instead of playing cards, you are playing letters to make words to make exploding kittens to demolish your neighbor ( In story mode.) But as in multiplayer mode, with friends. This game is absolutely free and is surprisingly fun for a letter game, and remember, “With great Kittens, comes great responsibility.” Thank you for reading my review, and have a good time sending exploding kittens to your neighbors front door! 🙂👍

Good, but some issues. The game is fun, but there are some bugs. Sometimes when you use power ups, they become stuck on the playing field and then you can’t use any of your other ones. Additionally, the game slows down a lot if you’ve been playing for awhile, so sometimes it’s harder to make words because the letter wheel doesn’t respond fast enough. As an improvement to the game, I don’t think both competitors should be able to play the same word. Once a word is played, it should be barred from play. That way, if I play a word early, I can’t later be burned by the exact same word later on when I am out of words using that letter.

YESH 👌 PURRFECT. So, I searched up “exploding kittens” on the App Store, and it cost money! I like the card game, so I was pretty sad. Then I saw this game made by the same creator. Downloaded, and started playing. The storyline is hilarious, and I like that you add new things every level. The artwork is 👌. I love this. And: NO ADS! Super fun, recommend for everyone! Kids and Adults alike will enjoy the humor, graphics, and sound effects! -Sharktideplayz

Cute?. The story mode is pretty goofy and far more entertaining than a basic tutorial. The added strategy for what word you play when is also interesting, giving a new dimension to this sort of word game, and enabling competition in a way that’s far more interesting than a straight up race. That said, the number of words that aren’t accepted is frustrating; I’ve only played through 6 or 7 rounds and I’m already finding myself tripping over thinking I have ammunition and the word simply not working. And on the flip side, sometimes the longer word is very modern and takes me by surprise (like things I still doubt are legitimate compound words, ex. soymilks? Really?) So I like it for the concept and the art, but the dictionary really is the base of functionality for a game like this, and that needs work. (Please work on it????)

Adorable and hilarious!. This game is great 😍😆👌🏻 I love it so much!

Great, punny, madness from The Oatmeal. A short funny enjoyable game with the trademark mad humour and derpy arts from The Oatmeal. Matt, for it ‘twas he (or so I presume) asked on his blog for a review if the reader played the game, valued it and liked it. I played, valued and liked it and so have written a favourable review. And I can honestly say I have barely ever left a review for any other product at all. But I would, have and did for The Oatmeal’s Kitty Letter because it is genuinely wonderful. Good onya Mr Oatmeal, a refreshingly nad-slappingly good thumbpleaser of a game!

Fun Game. This is a good game to play to pass the time. The story mode has a good difficulty which is relatively easy (I did all the levels first try 💪🏻), but still leaves a bit of stress to get some words down. Here is a helpful tip: spam random two-letter words for easy points. Also, to the review that hated the game: clearly you do not have a good vocabulary, because I have never lost a single round in story-mode OR multiplayer, and have an arcade score of 244 (first and only try). So please, move out of your mums basement and get a job. No-one likes you on the internet. I hope you get less insecure after you move out of your mum’s home, you sad little man. Anyways, this is a great game! Definitely recommend it.

Amazing!. Once again The Oatmeal has proven to be one of the most entertaining web comics on the internet! This game is enjoyable, simple to learn and fun for the whole family!

I LOVE IT. Go Check Out The Oatmeal If You Like This Game

Sarcasm. Very funny, clevergsame for all cat owners & lovers

Great idea and something different.. Good fun except your stats don’t seem to update after each match. Will keep playing it though, it’s pretty addictive.

Awful, with misleading reviews. Apparently 38 ratings but only nine reviews when I looked just now. I think this game’s reviews have been padded by the writer’s mates to make it sound good. Look for yourself. The game is visually attractive and quirky but there is no way to set difficulty levels and the words you need to find to score points are VERY HARD. I think I’m fairly well-read and have a strong vocabulary but in ten games I’ve yet to find a word I even KNEW. The game then suggests a word I could have used, and I’ve heard of none of them and had to resort to a dictionary to make sure they were not made up. They were real words, but so esoteric that hardly anyone would use them in everyday speech or even know what they were. That, to me, is just rubbish. AND the game is too fast to let you consider the letters needed to make a word. It ought to have a speed slider. So, VERY FRUSTRATING. Not for anyone who just wants some light fun.

Mechanics let down multiplayer. In a round with just 4 letters ( for example) , you can do every combo available very fast, however the let down is the game will make you wait until your opponent has caught up before switching to new letters. Just one example of the crappy mechanics that ruin a potentially great word game. While we’re at it.. 4 letter games are BS anyway because anyone can spam words they don’t know. Minimum number of letters in a round should be six or 8, then there is some measure of skill.

Excellent Game, but a bit buggy. This game is still buggy. I ‘played a stranger’ and couldn’t understand why I wasn’t creating as many words as my competitor from a four letter word. Turns out, in the list at the end, that my competitor was able to use the same three letter word three times, and the same two-letter word twice (that I could see, as the list only gives you the top five words). This is the not the first time that I have had competitors being able to use the same word more than once. I have screenshots to prove it; please get in touch if you want them. Please fix

Fast paced challenging word scramble. Very cool game. Great story mode!

The BEST!. I have played exploding kittens, and I thought that was hilarious. It was. This game combines word games with funny levels and amazing drawings. Oh, and cats. Lots of cats. You can play with strangers, play the story, or arcade. Every mode Is a good as each other. Awesome graphics, and considering I don’t really write reviews, this game has to be pretty good. To improve the game, maybe make the story a bit longer, like adding a new neighbour, something like that. Overall, a great game you should definitely download, especially If you like cats, and hate exploding kittens and annoying neighbours.

Best Game Ever. This was literally the best game ever

Terrible game. Worst game ever

AMAZING!!. I downloaded this because it was by exploding kittens. I didn’t really know what it was at first, it as soon as I started playing I knew it was fun. It’s a great game to play and you can play with family and friends too! It’s challenging but not too challenging either. It encourages you to learn new words as well. I think I need to practice a bit more to complete leaves ten! I would recommend this to lots of people because it’s a learning game and it seems like it’s not! Overall it’s really great.

Loved it before I even downloaded. I love this game and it is still installing. It looks the BEST! I bought the extension for exploding kittens “Imploding Kittens” and I love the game soooo much!

Loved it!!. The awesome and hilarious that you can only get from The Oatmeal

Fun but short. Fun for a cute little comic. Haven’t tried the arcade or multiplayer versions. Finished the story in less than an hour, but what can you expect out of a free mobile game?

Amazing!!!😀😀😀😀. It’s a great game for anyone and if you love playing exploding kittens then it’s perfect for you.I’m a fan of exploding kittens and I think it is perfect!!!

Wow. So much fun

Best word game. Ever.. Love this game.

Fun!. This game is fun! I’ll definitely keep playing. Not hard to figure out at all.

Nice twist on a word scramble game. The gameplay idea is fun, and it’s the oatmeal so you know it’ll be funny. The game could benefit from some tidied up controls. I kept finding myself not dragging between the letters or not grabbing the items when I tapped on them. Bigger hit boxes would probably work? Also found the dictionary is almost too open. Half the time I just scramble to make random two letter words I’ve never heard of. Maybe limit it more and swap to new letters more often? Good game could be great with just a little more work, very fixable

Epic. Nice game, just what I expected from da Oatmeal.

Awesome. Great game! It was very funny

Needs a landscape mode. I hate portrait mode games. Especially on iPad. Turn it around and you'll get 5 stars.

More entertaining. Classic word scramble but more entertaining

Fun and nice twist on word game. After having crashing issues with another word game, I was excited to see this release. It seems pretty good so far and have only experienced some minor issues with multiplayer where if the other player ends it, you have to take a loss as well as the game giving me a loss after my opponent’s house exploded, but otherwise super fun and can’t wait for updates!

I really like this game. It’s pretty great I don’t normally like word games but I do like this one.👍🏽 It’s funny😆

Pretty good for version 1. Mr. Inman infused this project with his usual whimsical, irreverent, and poignant storytelling. The game mechanics balance offense and defense well. The vortex is a bit clunky to navigate with my definitely non-kitty human fingers, especially with lots of letters.

Can’t save progress. It’s very funny, but it doesn’t save progress in single player mode on my iPad. I’ve had to restart from level 1 every time I play.

Boring. Boring and just like every other word scramble game. The hun it is true to The Oatmeal, which funny but doesn’t save the game

Not bad!. This game is off to a good start! I’m really liking what I’ve played so far, and the sense of humour is perfect Oatmeal, but there are quite a few bugs to work out. I’m guessing those will be addressed soon as this is a very new game. A few things I’ve noticed: - no sound on iPhone version - lags and crashes several times a session - when playing multiplayer and the opponent drops, you have to quit to exit which gives you a loss - multiplayer stats aren’t accurate.

So fun. Super fun, silly, weird little game with solid controls and graphics.

Fun but difficult to play. I love the awesome Oatmeal humor! Sadly, the game is quite hard to play: I’m having more and more trouble hitting a specific letter the more letters appear on screen. My fingers might be too fat. Still, I can’t get past level 8 as the game currently is.

Deleted it. Deleted the app once I got to level 2. Or rather, the intro to level 2. Not worth the annoyance.

Too much stupid. I don’t GAF about moaning deer and I don’t want or need to be stuck on a page which gives me examples of the moaning. I got to this stage of the game and gave up when it became obvious I was going to be forced to sit through cut scenes. Deleted.

One Glaring Problem. Final level cheats you, the computer can use words that you used leaving you at a major disadvantage as you’re not allowed to use words already used by the computer.

Best game ever!. Very fun game highly recommend it me and my dad loved playing together I would say play story mode first tho but awesome word game and to make it better it’s very funny!!

Lots of kitty fun! I have a question, though. Oatmeal is always imaginative. And funny as hell. This game is a lot of fun and easy to pick up. I look forward to playing lots more.. But, after some game play, I’m confused by seemingly nonsense words. I thought I had a good vocabulary. I’m getting lots of “you could have played” and then a word that makes no sense. Is it just me? Otherwise honestly, it’s a fun treat. Thanks Matt Inman!

Good first release, needs polish. Good irreverent fun in typical Oatmeal style, would really benefit from a tutorial or instructions instead of just throwing you into gameplay and expecting you to figure out all the mechanics yourself - I got slaughtered on multiplayer because I had no idea how to exchange letters, what power ups do (or that they even existed), etc. making for a frustrating first few games.

Fun but buggy. Really fun and funny game, it hangs a lot on random multiplayer, especially if the other person quits or loses connection.

👌. Game is as, if not better than, expected. Engaging, entertaining, lovely visuals, satisfying to complete the story 👌

A lot of fun when it works. Multiplayer breaks more often than it works, but the game is fun when it works and has a lot of potential!

IM IN LOVE!!!!!. I adore this game and I play the single player constantly…I finished the story mode in one two hour sitting…PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ADD TO THIS GAME!!!! Only reason I gave four stars is it is honestly too short in story mode and that storyline was absolutely hilarious…Very well done!!!! I am a fan…Perfect sitting down with on a slow relaxing day and is funny as heck as well as cute as can be…I LOVE IT!!!!

Fun game. I really enjoy playing in multiplayer mode. However can people cheat? Why are they able to use the same word more than once? I can never play a word more than one time? And why do my “power ups” disappear after I have captured them? Sometimes I save them to use them later only to have them disappear.

Great game - constantly playing!. All I want to do is play this game; it’s great! One issue I’m hoping you can fix: in multi player mode, my opponent seems to be able to use the same word multiple times which when there’s only 4 or 5 letters in the vortex makes it hard to compete. Doesn’t happen all the time; only every few opponents or so.

Oatmeal you do not disappoint!. I love word games (even though I’m terrible at it), and this game takes it to the next level of fun. I love the chapter stories, and how interactive they are with humor that’s truly Oatmeal. I had to force myself to put it down or I’ll never get any work done. So...thank you for creating a game that will eat up my time and probably get me fired? :D

Love this game and all the cats!. This game is awesome I would love it if you could battle more than one player but besides that there is nothing to change Unless you could add more story levels Love exploding kittens And thanks for all your hard work

Multiplayer is a bust. Story mode is the only part of this game that is worth it, but sadly you will finish it in about 30 minutes. The multiplayer is a true scam. My friend and I were playing it across the table from each other and both thought we were beating each other. We started showing our screens and sure enough- it kept saying the other had won- some how we both had won even though neither of us finished at the same time. I suppose if you play with a stranger you will never know, but playing with a friend is what makes it fun.

Loved it. My only complaint is that it’s a short game. But it’s too cute to not play! The story line is cute and funny and it definitely keeps you on your toes when you’re trying to scramble to come up with words as quickly as possible. I definitely would recommend playing this game

Latest update. I love love this game, but it is very buggy after the latest update 2/25. Issues with rematch initiations and with player’s “batteries” going down in a game (I keep getting hit but my battery doesn’t go down ever). Also issues with words I’m creating actually loading and working. I’ll create a word but the cats don’t actually load. I loved this game. So sad it’s kind of broken right now.

Glorious. I loved this game. I downloaded it while in a depression spiral and it literally fixed everything. It’s hilarious and meme worthy while still challenging. I highly recommend this game to someone who needs a bit of humor and/or excitement in their lives

:). I play everyday when I’m bored i’ve won almost 100 games. I just wish there was a way to communicate, add friends and be challenged with people my level because I feel as if it’s too easy, but other than that it is an amazing game with a great vision.

No ads!!!. I am a huge exploding kittens fan. This is a cute app and the game is much different than others. It is still a bit glitch and it lags but all new apps will have a few bugs to work out. The best part is THERE ARE NO ADS!!! Work the glitches out and I will give it 5 stars. :)

Fun!. The game is so much more than the usual word game! I am only on Chapter 2, but it takes quick thinking, yet patience, and a nimble finger to find words to both blow up the neighbors house AND make the cats explode. It’s a balance between wanting to make a lot of words quickly and needing to save words for gangs of kittens parading across the street in letter groups!

Awesome Game! But you could.... You guys should add a ranked system where you and you freind could queue a game against another random pair of contestants. And Winn would rank up in elo while losers would ranked down a bit and lose elo. And you can have like certain tiers of ranking

Instant Classic. Extremely entertaining and engaging game, I couldn’t put it down until I finished the game in one day. The storyline was hilarious as well. I hope this game continues to develop and gets updated, I’d be glad to pay for a “sequel” or an in-app extension of the game.

Very fun - hope you know your words!. A very fun game with a simple premise and a lot of good jokes. You’ll need to bring you vocabulary A-game though - you’ve gotta dig deep to come up with, for example, a 4 letter word that starts with a U and uses only these other letters! But it’s story based and not static, which adds a lot vs a similar letter to word game like NYT game Spelling Bee. Love it!

Read before you get!!🚨⚠️. This game is AWESOME i love it so and their is very veiw adds and i thought it was hilarious but I don’t want to give any spoilers but there’s some very funny parts and it’s funny it’s hilarious and there’s very few add into very good game and I love doing it in it I think it makes me a little bit smarter I am learning new words

Everything I didn’t know I wanted in a fiery real-time cat word battle. My friends keep going on about the NYT bee word game but these cats give those pollinators a run for their money. The battle aspect makes it hard to put down. It’s a little glitchy sometimes and gets hung up when searching for opponents to play, but on the upside that’s the only way to tear me away from this app.

Two-letter words: The last refuge of a scoundrel. You should download this game and support The Oatmeal! It is awesome and fun! Do not allow the entire level dedicated to two-letter words to dim your enthusiasm! Ignore the cheap allure of memorizing columns of words used only in word games! Really! It’s a super fun game! Two letter words like “aa” are TOTALLY EVERYWHERE!

Addictive & Fun!. I love this game! It really is so fun! Only two issues: when I downloaded the latest version I lost all of my stats! I wish there was a login to prevent this! The other thing is I feel that the armies become fast too soon in arcade mode. The build up could be more gradual. And I think the players' armies should get fast too!

Like scrabble but timed & with exploding kittens and hot sauce. It’s a fun game! There’s a solo mode and you can play with friends or randos online. One bug I’ve noticed is that in multiplayer, if the other player quits/loses connection then you just keep playing and the cats just continue on over the fence. The only way out is to quit which then counts as a loss. That’s why I’m only giving 4 stars. Poopyhead.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. this is a really cute and fun game it has really fun illustrations. it is like so relaxing and helps build my vocabulary 🙂my cuz showed me this game and it so weird but it's so fun at the same time. i love how kitty letter is tied into this i love that game and also give it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ as well as this game. plus there are NO ADS i love it 11/10

Love it!. The story mode is an absolute delight. The multiplayer mode can use some improvements! The Rematch button doesn’t always appear which is strange. Would also like to see more stats at the end of a game. Overall I really love it and spend a lot of my time on it.

Stats bug and auto play bug. The best words lists don’t show the best / highest-scoring words, just some of the words that gave several points. I used a word that got 11 points and it didn’t appear. I am also confused when I lose when my opponents have words with lower scores. Swiping on the letters doesn’t appear to work reliably. It’s like I have to press harder on the screen. Sometimes if you take a screenshot or do something else the game will automatically choose rematch after each round. Overall a fun game and alternative to Up Spell.

Multiplayer is often broken. The game itself is fantastic, but the multiplayer with strangers is often broken. It seems like two or three different instances of the same game will start at once (sometimes you hear multiple instances of the “321” countdown overlapping with each other and then the game is sluggish), it sometimes hangs when finding an opponent, it sometimes hangs after a game, and I’m having to kill and restart the game multiple times per play session.

Not yet ready for prime time. Funny, irreverent, but the app is buggy. I played the story, that was fun! Multiplayer though, I have played a few games, won and loss but the wins and losses are both zero. I try to use the powerups but sometimes they don’t work and the powerups don’t work the same way in the story as they do against an opponent. Can you please make it so the app can be played so my power cord is on top of my device? Latest update removed an avatar I earned from going through the story and changed the name of my profile!!! I am stuck in play with a stranger, after one game the game started again with no input from me. The other player has no life bar, but I am stuck playing, the game won’t let me win!

My first review. I’ve been an iPhone user since the 4th gen, and this is my first review I’ve taken the time to write. This game is hilarious and weird. It’s just fast enough to keep my brain interested, without sacrificing quality, or detail. This is a game I plan to play for a while to come.

Fun, but busy. Ok, this game is fun. But busy. Hence my title. I find that I’m so involved making words up that it’s hard to also look up to see what is happening with the cats and Mr. Grumpy. I think I shall get used to this level of stress and evolve, so am giving it 5 stars, but I may revisit. Fun music and sound effects. And I love The Oatmeal.

Flawed fun. Fun and funny. Yet there are so many little glitches that cause a special kind of chaos. Some give the best words you found to your opponent, some erase your score, some wins are never recorded…the list goes on. Sometime I wonder if the Oatmeal purposefully left them there. Little doses of chaos vaccinating us to the greater chaos in the world.

Story mode. I completed the story then started over. When I had finished 3 rounds it never saved. I do not want to restart each time. Can you have it save after you complete a level? Thank you. Also when will more stories come out?

Glitch makes me walk past bonuses but otherwise awesome. Such a fun game — the storyline is great. I’ve been playing the Arcade mode but after the first level up, all the items are unavailable to me (but not to the cat man), so it’s very hard to win! My cats walk right over the axes, vacuums, teacups, and spiders, and I tried deleting and downloading again and that didn’t fix it. Minus one star for the glitch - but so fun and creative!

Wish I could play longer. I really like this game, and the kitties, but I feel like it progresses to very difficult too quickly. I enjoy finding the words but feel like I have to start swiping wildly to keep up with the influx of cats just a couple of minutes in. I don’t have time to form long words or use the tools. Also it’s frustrating when it tells me what I could have spelled and it’s a nonsense word.

Hooked after one try. I have only played this game once in single player mode on the word game. Already enjoying it. Already amusing and harmless fun. I like. That it would be a good game for kids and it still challenges your brain. A great break from some tedious tasks I have been doing. Great job. Thank you!

Awesome game, needs some polishing.. I love the game, it’s a fun race to make make words but the game itself needs polish. 1) The app gets bogged down and becomes less responsive. I force close and reopen the app after a few matches on my iPhone 12 Pro Max. 2) Even when the app is responsive, the UI is unpredictable and inconsistent. Frequently it takes a few attempts to create words without variation on me part. 3) I frequently find that the scoring summary shows the same word being scored multiple times for both players. I’ve seen words show up 3 times total in the summary, which jives with my impression from the match trying to counter other players and wondering why someone wouldn’t counter my own play.

Huh?. This game makes me feel like an old man! I’ve been playing video games since I was a fetus, but even after a dozen or so rounds of Kitty Letter I have no understanding of everything going on. Ok. Spell words with the letters — that’s obvious. But why are there vacuum cleaners and tacos flying around the battlefield? Am I supposed to get these things? Avoid them? How do I use them if I’m supposed to get them? Some of them I can drag around but I don’t know what that does? There’s no explainer video or “How to play” or intro mode in the app, so I guess I have to figure it out on my own?.... No, thanks.

My Neighbor. My neighbor is a flompy wretch who stinks worse than ten-thousand chum buckets. He is an overrated, repugnant barf bag. This neighborhood has no place for pugnacious rascals. I hate him more than I hate a toilet seat warmed by its previous occupant. He's the worst thing to happen to this town since the arrival of kombucha. He is the worst neighbor EVER. One star

Needs a final score at the end of the game. I love the game so far! I’m having a lot of fun playing. The only thing I wish it had was a “final” score at the end of a single player game. I don’t always remember to check the score at the top before my house blows up. So I end up exiting the game and then navigating to play again just to see my final score.

Fantastic writing, so-so game play. The bits between gameplay are super fun. Unfortunately the game has some small issues - the dictionary is very weird, such that the best tactic is to make random letter combinations, rather than stick to real words. Also, the letter stay the same, even after I have found all the words. Hopefully these small issues can get fixed, since it is otherwise very cute.

Could have been fun. What dictionary was used? The “words” accepted wouldn’t even be found on Urban Dictionary. It’s a race to make phonemes that may or may not be accepted by either a dictionary or this game while either acceptance may be exclusive of the other. Plus the sound didn’t work. At first I thought “Okay, The Oatmeal is a comic, so that makes sense,” until I realized there was supposed to be sound. 2 stars for creativity and a couple laughs, but the mechanics are too flawed to be a successful game.

Love it. The story mode is pretty short, but very satisfying. I like this sort of game, trying to create words with a finite number of letters, but this game finds a way around the annoying parts of those smart phone games. There aren’t ads, and when you can’t come up with any more words it will give you new letters to work with. It’s also funny which is always good!

Fun so far, with the usual Oatmeal silliness. If you aren’t familiar with The Oatmeal, his brand is absurdist and thoughtful, and slightly rude. So far, this game is nicely on brand. I’ve only played a bit of the single player but it was fun so far, though I was a tiny bit put off by it telling me that I could have done really obscure words while taking away the letters while I was in the middle of something. Minor, but there. Anyway, it’s fun, you ought to get it.

Fun, except for idiots. I’ve played over 1200 rounds against strangers and overall it has been a lot of fun and an enjoyable challenge. However, the game developers might want to revisit the ability to self-select player names, because I’m starting to see more and more offensive ones (and not just a little offensive). Unfortunately there are jerks everywhere, I guess.

Good in theory, needsots of work. Single player campaign can be beaten in about 30 minutes, so not much there. Multiplayer is so inconsistent and buggy it takes a lot of the fun out of it. I'll randomly lose health even when there are no opponent cats out, my cats will run through the opponents house, doing no damage, while theirs can still damage mine. And now, my wins and losses were reset for no reason, so now they're back at zero. Just feels rushed and not really tested before launch.

So fun and hilarious! But.... This game is soooo fun and addicting. I approached it with open arms since I already play exploding kittens. I play it casually everyday. There is one problem though. After each multiplayer match the rematch is broken. The other person rematches and the other is forced to play again, even if they lost. So when somebody wants to rematch, it should ask the other one.

Bugs are killing it. I love the multiplayer, and I want to spend a little money to support it, but it’s still way too buggy. I haven’t been able to use a spider in days. Games continue after you’ve won instead of giving you credit for the win. Some games just never start. I’m constantly having to restart. If this stuff get worked out I’ll be onboard to buy some avatars, but not before.

Okay, some flaws. Lost my progress after the update so now have to start again. Might not though. In terms of gameplay it’s a cool idea but you often get letters that aren’t useful or can make the required words beginning with a letter. Also let us skip cutscenes since i now need to restart single player mode I don’t want to go through them all again.

Can’t Stop Playing. I’m generally not great or patient with word games, but I love this! I made it through the story pretty easy, only getting stuck on one level, but would do it all over again. I can’t stop playing the arcade part now, and fear I’m going to wear a hole right through my screen!

Done.. Love The Oatmeal. This app was fun. Had some clever stuff. The story mode could have been longer or more challenging, but was good. But this app just deleted all my progress for the third time, totally randomly. It didn’t update, I didn’t change devices or anything - just played a game this afternoon, then went to play again tonight and boop! Start over. So I’m done. Deleted. Thanks for trying Matt, better luck next time.

Funny storyline & enjoyable game. I’ve been a big fan of the Oatmeal for awhile now, and the illustrations in this game were just as great and entertaining. I enjoyed the storyline a lot and found it to be a fun game to play. It doesn’t take a long time to beat, but it was kinda fun to have a game to play for the fun of playing it and for it to not require such an intense time investment to get good at it.

Awesome Game. Best free to play word game I’ve ever tried! Most ‘free’ to play word games are little more then demos with ‘opportunities’ to pay to play more levels. Not this game, this FREE game is easy to get the hang of & has a lot of amazing play options. I really enjoy playing against my hubby but the best mode is arcade mode where I get to battle the computer for points.

I LOVE it!. As a long time player of words games, Kitty Letter is a really fun twist. I’m totally addicted! I wish there was more to the story mode—I finished it within half an hour and would love more chapters—but other than that I have zero complaints. Also, thanks for not making messaging between players A Thing. Too many apps allow that, and it usually leads to unwanted harassment.
