We love this app! We watch a lot of the Discovery family’s channels. When we had to drop our regular tv package we immediately picked up Discovery + for the price and listings.
The only issues that we’ve had so far is that during any program we watch, it will freeze for a few seconds anywhere from one to three times an episode. It wouldn’t be so bad if it picked up where it left off, but it doesn’t and instead picks up wherever it’s supposed to be (I hope I explained that right). Another is that sometimes we watch a few seconds/minutes of a show to see if we’ve seen that episode or not and in doing so it builds up in the “Resume Watching” queue. It would be nice if there were a deletion option so that you could find the episodes you actually do want to resume faster.
Honestly, if those two problems were addressed, this app would be close to perfect! We love that we still get to watch most of our favorite shows with significantly shorter commercial times and for a great value price!!
atebyb12 - Needs Some Kinks Worked Out
Overall, this app is amazing but it still has to work out some kinks. The price is great, especially to have the ad-free version. I was hoping it was the answer to cancelling another streaming service I subscribe to but this app doesn’t have the original 90 Day Fiancé show, just a streaming channel. Also, random episodes are missing on some shows, so I again have to revert to my other streaming service to watch there. The app freezes briefly on Roku TV after pausing or rewinding, and will skip over the part it freezes on. I’ve had no issues casting from my iPhone to my Vizio TV. I can still use my phone while it’s casting and there is no freezing or glitching. The functionality of the home screen needs some improvement organizationally and to provide the ability to delete episodes in “Continue Watching”. When it auto plays or I check out shows, I don’t necessarily want them to stay in “Continue Watching” because then I have to scroll through those to get to what I really want to continue watching. The catalog of shows is exceptional and I do love that some shows are unedited - very refreshing to be able to listen to people swear instead of hearing “beeep beeeep”. I would honestly pay more to have them remove the censorship bleeps from all shows (Gold Rush, I’m looking at you). I was sure I would cancel after the trial but I’ve stayed on as a subscriber because we now watch Discovery+ more than our other streaming services.
crispycully - I love it, but it also can be frustrating.
I love this app. I'm so incredibly happy with the selection of shows and networks. But I have a huge problem streaming anything to my smart TV. This app has a horrible system for streaming. It's almost impossible to pause/play your show while also browsing the app. I've found that I have to go back into the show I'm watching, click the exact episode I'm watching, and then the app with allow me to pause the show. I just wish there was a better way to control streaming while also using the app. Other big streaming apps have an interface that's on screen all the time while streaming to allow you to control your show as you browse the app. It would be huge if you guys added one too. Another problem I'm experiencing is the app not playing the episode at all, or with the sound only. The app will connect to my TV but won't load the episode or picture. The last problem I've experienced is sometimes the app will replay 5 to 10 minutes of my show over and over again. The only way to escape this seemingly never ending loop is to skip ahead past the repeated scene.
Otherwise I love this app so much and I will continue to use it, especially if streaming becomes easier to use.
chrgarre - App needs improvement
I was initially irritated that people were being forced to get Discovery+ if they wanted to continue to watch certain shows. If I’m being honest, I’m still irritated. However, when looking at this from a financial perspective, in the long run this will save me money, as I will be canceling direct tv now that our contract is up. This may not be the case for others, so it is frustrating to know that this network is basically requiring you to pay more money for something that you are already paying for with cable. Yes I get it. It’s only $5, that’s not the point. Ok, that’s the end of my rant lol... I so far am enjoying g the content. However, the app could use some improvement. When you’re streaming a show to your television from the app and close the app it often times will shut the app down completely not allowing you to click back open to the app to rewind or fast-forward. And then have to go into your continue watching section where it restarts the episode in the wrong spot. It would also be nice to have the option to remove episodes from the continue watching section. Also I am unable to download this app on my chrome cast televisions. And PLEASE, when I have finished an episode, take it off of the continue watching section. That drives me bonkers!!
greenllamabean - Great content- glitchy app
I love all the different channels and content available- this app has become our go to over the last week. However there have been multiple issues while watching on Apple TV. The big one is if I decide to stop watching a show and try to back out of it, it takes a bit of time to go back to the menu and even then, the audio of the show continues to play, and I can’t scroll through the menu while that’s going on. I have to actually back the whole way out to the Apple TV Home Screen in order to get the audio to stop and wait a few min from there to get the Discovery app to “reset”. Next issue, not as major, is when an episode ends and is moving on to the next automatically, I get an error when it attempts to auto play. Once I click “try again”, it does move on though. The last thing I’ve noticed is on several occasions once an ad airs, when the episode comes back on, it’ll have reset the show back to a previous point. If it lets me fast forward (it gets hung up and almost laggy when this happens as in the previous situation of trying to back out of an episode), it’ll hit the same commercial break and just jump backwards in the episode again.
saraloz195 - App need lots of work
The contents of the app are great and love watching the shows I love. BUT the app is like using the very first streaming apps that ever came out. I use the app to stream to my TV and when I do the quality of the video is so awful. (No I’m not just watching older shows. I watch the magnolia network shows and the quality was still bad ONLY when streaming to my TV.) I haven’t had this problem with any of my other streaming apps. I can’t use my phone to answer a text without fear of having the app glitch out when streaming to my TV. There have been many times when I get a FaceTime call and I can’t easily pause the video to answer. When that happens I have to close the app then re-open the app, find the show I was watching, press play from where ever it wants to play (from the very beginning or a whole different episode) then press pause. After my calls, I have to re find my place and I had a problem with finding my place then after an ad break it hopped back to the very beginning of the episode (I had to restart the app). It is not user friendly but all streaming apps have gone through this phase so I will keep the app in the hopes that it will be better in the near future. If not I’ll just cancel and delete the app. I STRONGLY SUGGEST HAVING A WAY TO STREAM TO A TV BEFORE PRESSING PLAY ON A SHOW (helps with the long buffer).
A. Hernz - Great app but connection issues and no active watch bar
This app has brought all my favorite channels into one place along with exclusive content and I’m delighted. However, there is room for improvement. The picture is sometimes blurry when I’m casting to my Google Chromecast. Its usually spotty or clears up after about five minutes but there was one day where it stayed blurry and pixelated the entire day. Maybe the connection to the server can be stronger.
Also, I would like a “watch bar” at the bottom of the app for when I’m casting like Netflix has. If you go out of the show you are currently watching there is no bar at the bottom of the screen that shows what you’re currently watching. This is especially aggravating because the app auto plays to a different show if the one you’re watching finishes. So I’ve had to go searching in the app for the new show that’s playing, click into the episode, just to be able to stop it from playing. This is insane to have to do. What I’m actively watching (via chrome cast) should always be available in a bar right at the bottom of the screen.
The shows and variety are great but the app could use some better functionality. Please think more of people who use Chromecasts.
Sjb156 - Best app, no connection issues
This is the best App I have now. All the shows I like and new ones I’m enjoying. Especially Mike Rowe Six Degrees. I’ve read where some people are having connection issues. I’ve had the app since day one on my phone and Apple TV with zero connection issues what so ever. All 5 of my kids have been chain watching shows and all say the same thing no issues at all. Maybe delete the app and add it back. Or now with all the amount of data being used look into your internet connection. I had 300 MPs download but had so many things connected slowed it down and froze a lot. I switched to 1 gig download and all my problems stopped. I can watch 4K movies in multiple rooms all streaming with no issues anymore. It could also be your phones data plan too with certain low data things active you will get break ups. And I’m using a iPhone 11 Pro when I watch.
PH 000 - Some suggestions
I’m happy with the content of the shows on this app and it was very easy to set up on my tv, iPad, etc, but when I go to a category and select a show to be on my List, or just to look at the description, there’s no way to get back to where I was in the listings. I’m immediately sent back to the beginning of the Home page and I have to start searching categories from scratch. Also, I’ve messed around watching some shows and now these shows are stuck in the Continue list. There’s some shows I looked at and have no intention of watching to the end and I can’t get rid of them. I even fast forwarded one to the end and the next episode immediately came up! Now I have that one and the previous ep (because it shows two seconds left)also stuck in Continue! I’m sure you’re working on these things, and I look forward to getting bug fixes and improvements in the future, but it’s so annoying to have these shows clogging up the space. Netflix has an option that says “remove this title from this row”. It’s a very good option. Just a thought.

When I saw advertisements for this app, I was floored. It has the true crime shows I have been watching for years and the reality shows my mom adores—IN THE SAME APP.
We don’t have to pay for cable anymore, and we pay one low price!! We chose ad free for $2 more. $4.99 ad price or $6.99 ad free, so this monthly subscription is less than $10 a month either way! No other streaming service is cheaper or better for what our family loves to watch.
My only qualm is that it does not support picture-in-picture viewing (using iPhone), so when I want to check my email while I’m still listening and watching, I’m not able to do so without the app minimizing and having to reopen it. I hope they update this feature into an already awesome subscription service in the future.
That being said, I absolutely adore this app and service. Thank you so much for saving my family and me a bunch of money while still being able to watch the things we love!!!
Tina M Mn - Like it, but . . .
occasionally the app just stops working, goes black, and forces me to get out of the app and then go back in to get it working. When moving one episode to the next it sometimes stalls, forcing me to fast forward a few seconds into the next episode to get it to restart. I figure it’s still ‘buggy’ since it’s so new. When I go to my list, and decide to check out a show, but then go back to my list, it takes me to the top of the list to start at again - I do have a long list. The biggest disappointment is that it advertises that everything from all of my favorite channels is in discovery+, but a show I was really looking forward to, Home Again with the Ford’s, isn’t in there. If I wasn’t paying through the nose for cable I wouldn’t be able to watch more than the first episode. There are a couple of other shows that are missing an early season that used to be in the HGTV or DIY apps before they were plundered for the discovery+ app.
Da Real TeeBabee - Waste
I have just registered for my new account on the Discovery + app and I am highly disappointed. I was so excited to get this subscription because of my favorite show 90 Fiancé and now I have learned that I’m not able to stream the episodes. Each time I click on the name of the show it only gives me the option to view the show on its “live channel option”. I’m not able to view past episodes of the 90 Fiancé show. This is very frustrating to me because this is my only reason for signing up for this subscription and now I’m not able to view the material I desire as advertised. My other issue I have with this app is the Bravo channel is not included to watch streaming episodes via the app also. I would have loved to give this review 5 stars if only those issues could possibly be resolved.
I won’t be recommending this app to anyone and I am considering canceling my subscription as well if these issues continue to persist. Thank you for your time.

I love Discovery plus there are just a few kinks I think need to be worked out....
1 Please Please Please bring back Picture in Picture mode!!!!!!! I love listening to the app in the background, having it playing while other apps are open and being able to play while the phone is locked. The app had this when it was first released and for some reason it just disappeared so this is a major want in order for me to keep paying for the app.
2 not as major but the new “channels” feature that just has non stop of the same show playing is great, but It’s not easily accessible from the Home Screen and I always have to look for the show to get that channel which is a little annoying..
All in all love the app and the discovery family of networks shows and with these changes I will be a happy customer
The Bad Spartan - Absolutely the best App available
I have always loved science, history, paranormal, mysteries, social topics and so on. Of course due to my love of those subjects I often watch the channels associated with them like Discovery and History channel. However the platform on the Discovery+ App has opened my world the topics and interests I have dramatically since I now have access to not only the channels I’ve been familiar with, but now ones I didn’t know existed or didn’t realize were broadcasting the material I love so much. So to have them all in one place, for such a great reasonable price, also given it’s straight forward and easy use...it’s like it was made especially just for me! Thank you Discovery for creating this app for me and everyone else like me that still loves to learn!!!
Infiniti Lover Girl - Pausing During Shows
I love ALL the content on this app however there are 3 main issues that are annoying and problematic for our viewing pleasure. There are pause breaks during the shows that I HATE. It’s difficult to enjoy the show when there are breaks and pauses that cuts off parts of the show. These breaks and pauses aren’t where the commercial breaks would normally happen and it’s beyond frustrating. The second issue is that when you’re watching a show sometimes it won’t go to the next episodes and it goes to a black screen. Lastly, episodes will not clear off the Continue Watching list!!! This is beyond annoying as well because once we watch an episode it’s impossible to clean off your Continue Watching list because those episodes can’t be removed!!! I hope someone can take care of these issues to make the app better.
Heather D - A lot of great shows but...
There’s a lot of great shows on here, but there’s also a LOT of shows missing. This is especially apparent on the History Channel tab where I was hoping to have access to the old-school documentaries, that are actually about history, that I miss, now that the channel is all reality TV. But I guess they’re lost to the oblivion because they’re not here or on any other app I can find. There’s other notable shows that should be on here that aren’t like Border Security. The Food Network tab is my most-watched, but even it is not all-inclusive. Finally, I don’t understand why Magnolia is a preview only. It adds value to this app, and with all the apps I’m already paying for, paying separately for Magnolia is going to be a really tough sell. All that said, I’m keeping Discovery+ in my portfolio of apps because the pros outweigh the cons.
Bananas429 - Not working
Downloaded and watched with no problems during free 7 days. Since free trial expired I cannot watch anything. One message states service is not available through my provider. I don’t have a provider. Another message says I must select a plan and subscribe even though I already did which Discovery already received payment. Today’s message says manage subscription and wants me to purchase another subscription. I’m not paying for what I already paid for. Customer service is by email only, which their response was, I need to pick a plan and submit a valid email. I Explained in email I already paid for a subscription. Haven’t received anymore response from Discovery.
Apparently there is no subscription under my email. Yet if I go into my Discovery account, there’s my email and I can sign In no problem but cannot watch a thing. I had a plan during my free trial and Everything was valid when discovery billed my credit card. Now it no longer is. Frustrating.
RWesleyLee - A great app... until it wasn’t
Excellent app, overall. Unrivaled show selection, and relatively user friendly. My one complaint is that I️ occasionally use a VPN for extra security online. While it wasn’t a problem at first, I️ now get an error every time I️ open the app saying that I️ don’t have access because it doesn’t see me as in the US. However, I️ am located in the continental US. I️ tried turning off the VPN, restarting my phone, disconnecting from all networks, reinstalling the app, and all to no avail. I️ would hate to cancel my subscription, but I️ don’t see a way to use the app anymore! Downloaded beware! Do NOT have your VPN on when running the app. It will lock up the entire app.
Dddddar - Will NOT stream to TV
I love the theory of this app, and the amount of content included is truly spectacular (which is the only reason I gave it 2 stars).... HOWEVER, this is literally the only app that I have on my phone that simply will NOT cast to either of my smart TVs. I’ve literally tried everything. Restarting the TVS, the phone, my router etc. I’m a TV engineer in my career for over 20 years, so it’s not like I’m clueless. The issue is specific to this app, so I can’t in good faith recommend it to anyone that intends to watch it on their TVs. I’m sure it works for some folks, it sounds like it might, but I see many people having issues with it and I am def one of them. I’ve spent WAY too much time trying to make it work. Also, of course, there is no app available for PlayStation which is how I stream things even more commonly. Hopefully they’ll shore up whatever issues they have regarding all this, otherwise I will delete it and not subscribe.

This is a great price for the ad free channel. I want to love this app. I’m really hoping they do a few simple upgrades.
1) The ability to download shows and watch them completely offline. Currently is not even possible. Which is frustrating and leaves me turning back to Netflix.
2) The 90 day finance show isn’t even on here. Just a weird nonstop streaming channel. I want to be able to watch everything that’s been aired in order not out of order. Which then sends me back to philo (streaming service) which they have missing episodes too. Discovery does have a nice option when each couple has there own “show” pulled all there episodes together. But I love the normal show will all the couple together. I’m just super sad and disappointed. I just want to binge watch all the shows so I’m over hear waiting. Especially on the most recent 90 day fiancé

MrsSpan - Terrible language (parents beware!) and delayed seasons
First, we do like that all the channels we watch are in 1 place. We do not have the glitches that others are reporting. We watch on FireTV.
However, there’s a few things we do not like at all. We are SUPER disappointed in Freddie Dodges new show that’s a Discovery+ production PARENTS BEWARE The language is horrible. The first episode is ok then bam F bombs every other word. As adults we can’t even stomach watching and listening to it much less let our children watch. We probably could if it were at least bleeped out. It’s just a bummer bc we love Freddie and thought it would be a family show based on the first episode. We were wrong.
Also, the main reason we got the subscription is for MAINE CABIN MASTERS on DIY bc we don’t get DIY on YouTubeTV. Zero of the new episodes are there yet. At least release them as they are being released on cable once a week. Please! #freeseason6
Dislike Trip Advisor App 1973 - Issues, Issues, Issues, and More Issues on Debut
I downloaded the app on my apple device. For the first half hour, as far as I could get was to select my monthly service, but could not continue after that. I was able to sign up outside the app on their website and started streaming. I can stream for four to ten minutes then I get a black screen. When casting, the phone shows it is casting but nothing is on the screen. I have to stop casting and restart casting. I tried another phone and still the same! I tried different TVs and still the same. Other steaming services see more cast-able devices then this app. Sometimes when it stops casting the video loses its location and I have to fast forward to the point where it stopped. If it stops after ads or in the middle of the ads, you must rewatch the ads to get to the next part. More then likely will not continue my subscription. Not yet available on Google apps???

So.... after my 7 days are up I will NOT continue with this streaming channel. I watch on Roku, I have no connection issues nothing like that. However, I chose the option with the ads which I honestly don’t mind bcuz you get to see what else is playing on the channel.
But, anytime there’s a freaking ad the show doesn’t continue on from where it left off before the ad!!! It keeps repeating the same thing you’ve just watched. Then, it’ll start playing the show for literally 10-15 seconds and it goes back to the same ad you’ve already just saw twice! It’s extremely frustrating and I will NOT continue with this streaming channel after the 7 day trial. Thank you!!
So, after posting my original review I ended up reading other reviews and the complaints are endless!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME ON THE SERVICE!! I downloaded the streaming channel using the 7 day free trial on my Roku not even 12 and I will be deleting it as soon as I am done with this review!! Your developers have some serious fixing to do. Why would you launch this when there are SO MANY ISSUES? The worst thing is that you have a “stock response” to every single person’s review and there is absolutely no customer service people to speak with. I’ve never been so irritated and frustrated with a streaming channel like Discovery plus!! Get it together people!!!

I can see all of the channels starting to do this now trying to pinch and squeeze every dollar out of the consumer. It would be one thing if it was only original content and streaming all the episodes but you removed shows already on cable and made them streaming only that’s the difference I did the seven day free trial caught up on all my shows and deleted the app. I’m just so disappointed in the integrity and blatant Reality that you’re being forced to pay for shows that you were paying through your cable service to watch. Not only do I have to pay for the Internet but now I have to pay for my favorite shows that were included in my cable service only a short while ago. Don’t ask I won’t pay if your service I won’t go to your website I will simply just watch some thing else or I’ll just spend more time working in my garden or with my family.
please fix the issue 1 - Freezes and forces a restart and can’t watch the shows you want
I’m not happy with the fact that watching shows causes a whole system to freeze and restart continuously, it gets irritating and makes me want to cancel the service since I can’t use it anyways, and can’t watch the 90 day fiancé when ever I want or have the ability to choose the episodes that I want to watch, it stated before that a 90 day fiancé Chanel would be coming on January 29th assumption was that we would be able to each episode or pick the episode you want to watch including the current, I don’t like the fact you can do that with some shows and not with the others. It feels like the app was not fully worked out before the launch date and it still needs major tweaks, and as mine continuously crashes and needs to reboot the entire system.
Oh_KelseaB - Room for improvement
So far, I love Discovery+, but I will admit that there have been daily frustrations.
Cons: When you go to continue watching - it will show several episodes from one show that you’ve already watched. Most of the time, the episode that would be next isn’t appearing there even though I finished the previous one so I have to go to the show, find the right episode I should be on and go from there. I’m seeing this issue on the Roku as well (among another Roku issue).
Pros: There are SO many channels available for a reasonable price! My fiancé and I are both very happy that a lot of the shows we love to watch together but never had access to is all right here.
I like that our favorite shows stay in our watchlist after we’ve watched them (unlike Disney+).
I’ve not only been waiting years for the Magnolia Network, but I’m pleased that it’s on the same streaming network as all of our other favorite shows like Gold Rush, Outlaw Garage, and Naked & Afraid. I can’t imagine that this would be a streaming service we would cut back on even if we had to 👍🏻
With these little improvements, I’d easily give this 5 stars. I’m giving it three because I am honestly so annoyed with going back and finding the right episode 😂
The Zolly - I was going to make it three star but it automatically went to four-star
I like discovery plus but I also am disappointed. I tried to watch it away from my house and it wouldn’t come on. And one of the reasons I got discovery plus why is it because I wanted to watch it on my TV. I have an LG TV not an Apple and I guess it won’t work on my own TV. So disappointing.
I do however like the programs that are on there oh and one more thing I tried to watch it on my phone but the volume wouldn’t work I put it up as high as I could on my phone and nothing. And also that was away from my house.
But again I will say I like all the programs. I hope you can expand it so that is working better.
Tjovian - No picture-in-picture implementation
I’m not fond of reality style TV, so I tend to only watch the nature and space documentaries offered here. I have a free subscription through Verizon, but the fact that I can’t multitask with my documentaries is a deal-breaker. I won’t be paying for the service once my 6-month free subscription ends since this network really doesn’t offer classic Discovery-type shows that I grew up with and have come to expect (I was expecting shows about different cultures, historical events, science, and technology. But all I see are more of those “reality” tv shows that are on every other channel, which are mostly coached and staged, with very little reality naturally occurring in front of the lens.) Perhaps I’m better off just sticking with the Nat. Geo. offerings on Disney+ since they have history and documentary shows AND I can use picture-in-picture with their app.
Fireout7 - Horrible website and app to navigate
We loved Discovery plus. Then I had to switch credit cards for billing and can’t get everything to sync properly. No number to call to work out the issues. Just a viscous circle of nothing to accomplish. Following their directions don't match the sites. It keeps trying to get me to the free trial but Ive already had the free trial. I tried to change the credit card before the subscription ran out. But the website nor the app would allow that option.
Feed up and tired of dealing with this headache. So many businesses that are easy to navigate so you would this Discovery would be able to do the same.
Loved the shows but can’t get anything updated correctly. That’s horrible business and customer service

This is honestly the best app and honestly everything that I’ve been waiting for the only issue that I have found with the app so far is that when you’re scrolling through some of the trending shows or anything else like that and you got a swipe sideways sometimes it will glitch and take you all the way back to the beginning that’s kind of frustrating especially when you’re trying to find a specific show or if you’re just trying to search and see kind of what’s on the app but other than that that’s the only issue that I found and I love this app hope they get it fixed soon!
gkpalmer - Great app with most of the shows I watch
Discovery+ has almost all of the shows I watch and now has more content. Wish content was listed with most recent first and seasons the same way with “for example” shows with 7 seasons would be listed 7-1 instead of 1-7 and most recent show at the top. The way it is makes it a hard to find the most recently added content. I realize the pandemic is ruling currently and content would be better otherwise. Make no mistake the 4 star rating is for the app. Content is definitely 5 star. Prefer content with likable people. Would like the app to put frequently viewed content in a heading and maybe that is what For You is supposed to do, but it doesn’t seemed to do that very well.
Grown&Sassey - Best App Ever
I must say I’m truly thrilled with this new network it’s amazing , I’m so happy to have all my fav apps under one umbrella an the diff features are pretty cool as well I can create my own watch list is pure genius, I just wanna thank whoever came up with this wonderful idea , only one negative through out the whole thing an that is there are a few new episodes of things that have not yet been added to the series for some reasons like 100 Day Dream Home season 2 is not yet on there , House in a Hurry , Fixer To Fabulous season 2 is not on there there may be a few more shows that are like that as well but niece that’s fixed this will be 100% All Around Amazing App !!! .
SaQuerelle - A lot to love, but a bit of a let down
I was super excited about the launch of this service, but quickly realized that it wasn’t everything I thought it would be. While there is a lot of great original content and an extensive library of past episodes, it does not offer everything by all Discovery networks. I watch Science Channel more than any other, one of my favorite shows being Mysteries of the Abandoned. In the Science section of the app they have MotA listed under “Every Episode Ever”, but it’s only seasons 1-6. The current season 7 is nowhere to be found. I contacted support and was told that it has something to due ownership rights. If that’s the case, then they shouldn’t list it as having every episode ever. Back to Philo I go, just so I can watch my favorite Discovery show.
DaxSwork - Magnolia network & interesting reboots etc
I have been really impressed with the magnolia network etc & it pretty much feels like that a lone could be worth the price of admission.
I have loved seeing Reboot type shows too with the likes of people like Ty Pennington. Some of the crime and relationship ones seem a little too sketchy/graphic for me but I have appreciated all of the awesome content otherwise and overall feel it is one of the most family friendly platforms as well. I’m excited to continue to

When I learned that this app was being released, I was very excited. I could not wait to try it out. I was more than willing to pay a monthly subscription, if it meant that I got to enjoy so much entertainment. I love investigation discovery shows. As well as medical shows.
However, I have been very disappointed with this app. It is very difficult to use. There isn’t a proper labeling. I find it difficult to tell where I am, within the app. I can’t always tell where I am. If I am in discovery life shows, or TLC shows. I will say that this app is more accessible on my phone, then it is on my fire TV. On there, it’s much worse. It’s much more confusing. If it would be possible to work on this app, and make it more accessible, I would be very pleased and delighted. I think a lot of people would really enjoy this app even more.
Pantherfann - Disappointed in available content
I love Discovery, so I was super excited for this. However, after 2 days I must say that I am disappointed in the content. Last night, I was looking to see the new Moonshiners episode, all to find out that all of season 10 wasn’t even available on the app, only up to season 9, there were also a few others shows that weren’t up to date with latest seasons. I was under the impression that content that airs on TV would be available on the app at the time the shows air. At this rate, I would just be better off keeping my cable subscription and watch shows on demand.
Also, I find it a bit clunky as far as finding shows, the groupings seem odd to me. Without the search bar, it would take forever to find what I am looking for.
I know this only a two day old app, but if content isn’t available as it comes on TV I don’t know that I would pay for this, luckily I have a Verizon Wireless Unlimited plan so for now this isn’t costing me.
I hope I am wrong and that some content just hasn’t been posted to the site yet. Developers, please feel free to comment if I am wrong on any part of this.
KrystalD - Needs marker for watched items
App is good overall but needs a few small fixes. When navigating through shows, if you keep clicking the recommended ones through previous ones, you cannot exit back to the main screen without pressing BACK BACK BACK BACK BACK to get to the start again. There should really be a main overall navigation bar.
But more importantly, there’s no identification marker for episodes you’ve watched. We were working our way through an old season of something and when we came back the next day, none of the episodes had a check mark or anything to indicate we had seen them already. This is kind of a critical item to be missing.
RSL08 - First Big Fail
I received an email notice announcing the availability of the latest episode of Design Star Next Gen late on the day I expected it would be available. Navigating to the series on my favorites list I noted that the new episode was not on the list of those available so I clicked on “Watch Now” only to get a list of old episodes. Reloading my favorites list, re-opening the series page over-and-over, then restarting the app didn’t change anything. If you are going to say it’s available for viewing, it better be there. Now the time I had set aside for this is wasted... I will now be one week behind when next week at this time I watch this weeks episode. Streaming is not very convenient for those of us used to set schedules.
diana hibbert - I Love Discovery Plus and the new shows !
We have really enjoyed the new shows!! These are a lot of my favorite channels. The thing I don’t like is that I have a one year old 70 inch LG smart TVs that we love but for some reason there is no app for Discovery Plus for LG Smart tv. so Iammirroring through My I Phone 12 to watch the shows on my TV and while your doing the mirroring you can’t use your phone at alli am hoping People with Disc very plus meet with LG Tv’s to work this out!! I also have Disney Plus and was able to stream them with my tv. Ian hoping that someone at Discovery plus reads this and let’s LGthat this needs to be worked out!! Thanks!! Diana Hibbert

So I love that you can have this app with no live tv apps... my issue is two things that I wish they would fix... I WILL CHANGE MY RATING AS SOON AS THEY FIX IT... 1: on ID channel I have to go and click on the ID go app still because half the new shows aren’t being shown on this new app yet. Example “Fear Thy Roommate” not on the Discovery app but on ID GO app... 2: I hate having to check everyone of my shows on favorites to see if there are new episodes instead of on them it should say “new” when new episodes have been added.. minor things yes but I feel for the price “6.99 for no commercials” it should have these functions. The only reason I switched from ID go to this app is I hated the every 5 sec commercials about it being thrown down my throat lol. Please fix this please so I can love it! THX!
SchubieGirl - Almost perfect
I am blown away at the selection, the amount of entertainment is fantastic... with ONE exception! The only show I watch religiously is HOUSE HUNTERS, that show was the whole reason I pay for the upgraded selection, yet it only plays a “channel” non stop stream, ridiculous! Not even sure why that’s a thing! All shows have episodes, why wouldn’t this one? I’m extremely disappointed in that. Not sure how long I’ll be a paid member without that show offering episodes, taking me back to 1999, watching tv with no pause button, can’t skip past the episodes I’ve already seen, super inconvenient and I can’t even make sense of why in this day in age we need to be back in 1999!
mikey_dubbs - Great app. Minor technical issues.
Overall, this app is great. Love having relaxing content all in once place. There are two technical issues I would like fixed in a new update: 1) Syncing with the Apple TV app does not work. Apple is not receiving the latest information on which episode I am on. 2) When scrolling through shows or episodes, if you click on one and then want to go back to scroll again it will take you to the very top of the list. Note: these issues occur on both the iOS and TVOS apps.
And finally a question: Will the virtual channels, launching January 29th, still be ad free for those of us paying to be on an ad free plan? I would find it unfair if we had to watch ads on the virtual channels if we are paying to not see them. Thanks!
jromero1 - We need a minimized player
You guys, why are we this far into app development, and I still need to load some random episode of any show, just so I can disconnect from my Chromecast? Please add a “now playing” bar at the bottom or something so I can quickly jump back to what’s playing on my Chromecast if I close or exit the Discovery+ app after putting something on to play. Once I come back to the Discovery+ app to change an episode or shut down for the night, I’m left with no option but to play something just to get to the player UI.
No, I don’t want to randomly add Sister Wives to my viewing history just so I can load the player UI to access the “stop casting to chromecast” button. Helloooo!!!! For real, please talk about it in tomorrow’s standup and put it on the schedule for next version release.
CaceEnPoynt - Glitchy just like all the other new streaming services
Discovery+ has plentiful content from a variety of networks. No issues there. What IS an issue is how glitchy the app can be, namely with shows freezing several times during an episode.
I’ve noticed this with some other new streaming services that have sprang up as well. It’s almost like they’re racing to get their streaming product out there, without paying attention to the QUALITY of the users experience.
Still giving three stars because of the variety of networks and shows offered, but hope the developers do something about the freezing soon. It would be nice to get through a full episode of something without involuntary interruptions.
BA17BA17 - Good, just needs some tweaking
I hope the developers see this. I love the app, lots of content and for $5-$7 a month it’s reasonably priced. But, there has to be a better way to organize/view shows. There is no way to see what shows are new and with so many shows it’s problematic. Also, I cannot arrange “my list” to see it in a different order nor can I find out if there is a new episode of any of my favorites. It’s ridiculous that I have to use the IDGo app to look for new episodes and then change to Discovery+ to then search and watch. Why are some shows live stream only with no ability to watch on demand? Potential 5 star once those changes are made.
Mrskx2 - Freezing and Awesome app
We are really enjoying your new app! We are really wanting to get rid of our cable! However, you advertised your app would have all of the shows that the networks would carry, at least that was the impression you were putting out there!
Tim Allen’s new show isn’t on it as I would expect it to be.
I’m thrilled with the selection, but would truly like to see all of it even if it means paying more. Maybe there could be a different price tier for that?
Also, for some reason when playing shows it freezes and starts up about 20 seconds later in the program. So, if it’s relevant you have to go back and hope it doesn’t freeze again in that spot.
Thank you for the new app! I do think it’s Awesome! We’re thrilled to see Chip and Joanna again! As well as Ben and Erin we can watch different shows that are really cool! We have also discovered a new show we missed on cable; Brian and Mika, 100 day dream home.

I am SO IRRITATED about how many F. Commercials I have to watch about discovery + on my cable channels I am starting to un-love from this company. (Strictly on principle and integrity). All this is about it making money off people double. And making people pay for this app and still have commercials is DISGUSTING after already paying for cable and how much it’s not working for people and all the currently unavailable current episodes of shows that people download this app specifically for. It’s false advertising. This is so disappointing because of how much I used to love this company and all it’s channels. I’m REALLY disappointed. Taking advantage of everyone during one of the entire world’s let alone our country’s struggles. Sickening. BBB definitely going to hear from me like now. I wish I could give -5 stars!!!!!!
ESD mom - Can’t signup
I am excited for this app and downloaded BUT when I clicked “sign up” or “start free trial”, it led me to choose my plan, but nothing happened after I clicked. It won’t let me move forward past the plan selection. :(
UPDATE 1: I found a work around and signed up online. Once I had an account, I just logged in to my account on the app. The app works great (after I’ve already signed up part) and great video quality. Great contents and selections.
UPDATE 2: Discovery has reached out to me to see if it is an isolated incident or if they need to fix something. I will update my rating because I was able to sign up (online) and because the app was a great value.

I’m obsessed with all the available shows, ad free, on Discovery plus. However, I have one gigantic complaint which may make me not renew my membership after my Verizon 6 month free trial. The amount of Dr Pimple Popper ads is disturbing to a insurmountable level. It’s a disgusting show, in my opinion, that I choose not to watch for a reason. The ads show gross things that I do not want to see as I’m enjoying my HGTV... I literally have to mute the tv and close my eyes. I’m not the only one who thinks it - google “how to remove dr pimple popper ads”. Aside from that I love it! Please consider removing or at the very least limited those ads.

Really enjoyed the amount of content available. There’s a couple of features that need to be added that would make this app great though. I wish shows I add to my list would be organized alphabetically or at least give us a toggle. More importantly though, I wish the app would track which episodes I have already watched. There also needs to be support for the mini-player (pop-up view) for when you need to minimize the video and answer a text or do something else. I have no doubt these will be added in the future though and I’m looking forward to that.
