Solid, recommend, not perfect. I come from the EA Tetris, like many others, and will likewise be comparing to that version. First off: this is a solid take on the game. I’ve already played this version a good bit, and am happy that it’s done as well as it is. I would recommend this app if someone asked. I echo what I’ve seen in other reviews though, particularly, the feeling of inconsistent controls. I occasionally feel the sting of a tetrimino locking into place far sooner than others. Buuut I will admit, as annoying as it is when that happens, I generally feel the controls are well implemented. So here are the two things I really wish were better: 1) the option of a larger UI and 2) more levels. There’s a lot of unused space on the screen on my phone, and yet the small UI makes it difficult to nimbly pause or switch a held tetrimino. I also get bored of the game stopping at level 15. I reach 15 pretty quickly, and I know there’s the high score, but that just doesn’t do it for me. On the EA version, I would usually start at level 16 and push to reach higher and higher levels. My failure was just as inevitable, but it was so much more thrilling to replay.

Good but with a flaw. So I’ve been playing Tetris for a while now and I’d consider myself to be pretty good, but there’s only one thing that the added recently and that’s tickets. Tickets are dumb and serve no purpose in my opinion. It limits how much you can play and it’s frustrating. I’m happy that they made it a lot better but in my personal opinion they should remove it entirely. Just think about it for a second, they made it so that you can play against people online 24 times, 25 if you counting the event. That may seem like much but this is throughout the day. On average I play against people roughly around 36 times a day before the patch and that’s only in a 8 hour limit. You see wear I’m getting at. When you play against people it’s competitive and fun, that’s one of the main reason why I play Tetris in the first place and they basically removed it. I actually stopped playing for a while for this exact reason alone. So please if you are seeing this do something about tickets. Maybe 10 or 5 minute timer delays, it just feels like I’m not free to choose if I can play competitively or not.

Updated: Absolute Garbage. Update #2: Just in case, I tried to give this another chance in 2023. Unfortunately, it is just no good. I can’t believe this abomination exists in the same universe where we have the awesome Tetris Effect game on the desktop. Seems impossible, but here we are. There are much better ways to monetize, and much better ways to bring in new players with a fresh new approach, but these developers are unable to honor the enduring legacy and appeal of Tetris. How on earth could anyone screw up Tetris?! It takes a special talent to ruin an easy win, but they did it, somehow. Uninstalled again. Three strikes and done. Shame. Update: Just tried to play this again and the ads and other nonsense were too much. I get that they are trying to get my money, and I would gladly pay, but this is not the way to gain my trust and open my wallet. It’s just garbage now. Scrabble has been ruined and now Tetris. Wow. Previous review: This new Tetris app is good. I like it, but the price for removing ads is too high. I have paid $5 for higher quality games but this is not worth $5. Maybe $3. So far, the only thing that puzzles me is why the actual play area is so small. Seems like there is a lot of wasted screen space. I could take or leave the themes. Overall, minus two stars for the wasted space and the fact that it is overpriced, at least in its current form. Fix those two things and we’ll have a winner.

The devs listened and they delivered. Wonderful take on Tetris.. Old title: EA did better This one will never live up to the EA version. Sure, it’s fine, but there’s multiple ways it could be improved. One is the controls. They could be improved a lot. They’re super slippery and I constantly lose control of the bricks. Next, you should have an option to save and pick it up later. This is one of the reasons I really liked the EA version. If I need to do something or if I’m just tired I can pick it back up later. In this one I can’t do this. It’ll reset whenever I leave and it always pisses me off. Next, please remove the tacky leaderboard thing. Instead make it high scores. Leaderboards show scores compared to other players. It’s just annoying. So yeah. Please fix these things. Please. Edit: This is now a five star game. They actually listened, which is impressive, and I really thank you for that! The controls are better, it’s less of an eye strain, and most importantly you can pick it back up! Thank you so much for actually listening to the feedback of your players, not a lot of devs do that, and I have high hopes for you company as a whole because of it.

A Downgrade from the 2017 Version. The older version of this game that was on the App Store ran significantly better than this newer one. From the moment I open the app I am staring at spinning Tetris pieces. When I try to click on anything whether it be the store tab of the play tab I have to stare at spinning Tetris pieces for 20-30 seconds before anything happens. Most of the time it gives me an error message saying it couldn’t contact the servers even though my internet connection is fine and other apps have no issues with it. I haven’t even bothered clicking on half the stuff on the main menu because it never loads. My phone is listed on the compatible devices yet the app runs terribly. The older version from five years ago worked just fine up until they shut it down in favor of this heaping pile of garbage. Also in the options tab you can’t adjust volume levels you can only toggle them which is embarrassingly pathetic. Players can’t customize how they want to play? This game is so simple and they’ve made it hundreds of times yet they can’t seem to just put all the good parts of each together. What a disgrace... I’d have a much better time running a ROM for the GBC version of the game and have a better experience.

Great game but could be better.. This is a very good game but it also has lots of potential. I’m, like most, a person who played the EA version. This game has improved that version in many aspects as we have a version adapted to new phones. My problems with the app are mainly four. The first problem is that we can’t see the quantity of lines needed to pass to the next level. The second problem is the fact that I believe that there is a maximum of 15 levels, as, even though I have completed in level 15 many more lines than in level 14, I can’t seem to pass it. The third problem is that the colors of the pieces in the waiting room, aren’t very noticeable which doesn’t let me see very well which piece will come next. Lastly, the ratio of screen to screen where you actually play in feels very small. I understand this is a very early version and the app will probably keep updating so I gave it a 5 stars but I still wanted to put the problems of it to see if it can be improved. Moreover, the gameplay isn’t laggy at all and it is very fun.

Ticket system will kill this game. Coming from someone who only plays the offline modes on this game, this game was great at first because of how much better it’s controls were than any other mobile Tetris game. But this new ticket system literally puts a limit on how much I can play this game. I’ve gone from playing 7-10 games a day whenever I’d like, to only playing 5 games that I have to strategically spread out in order to be able to play it all day. This is not sustainable because the reason I’m playing Tetris on mobile is for the convenience. Putting a limit on how much I can play destroys that convenience and will simply cause me to find a new way to play Tetris, rather than pay to play more on this app. I think many other people will agree with this statement. This ticket system was not thought out as it not only kills the major reason use this app, but also limits how many ads that you guys get from the game. If I play less games you guys get less ad revenue. That ad revenue will not be made back by people paying for the game because those people will simply find another place to play Tetris. This new system was put in place without considering any of the things that made people use this app and will 100% kill this app if it is not removed

Solid game but just one nit pick. So i love tetris i think the controls are just fine except the soft / harddrops are kinda finicky but anyways the only thing that i would change is how the gameboy theme works. Basically in that theme its all grey like a gameboy would look but when you get a tetris BOOM the game rewards you with a pop of color for a short while. My only problem is that it kinda hurts my eyes going from a long grey screen to then suddenly color and then switching back. I wish I could have an option to only make it grey and no color when you get a tetris or even better (in my opinion) is to add the gamboy theme with color and either making it that every tetris makes it grey or getting a tetris would only make the fireworks pop out. Now I know I can just use any other theme like the new basic theme but i really like the music and how the gameboy one looks and its just how i like it. I just want to be able to either see it in color always or see it in grey always so that it doesn't mess with my flow playing the game.

Where’s the features?. I’ve had this app since it released. And “themes, backgrounds, and frames” has been a optional feature on here that you’ve yet to ever release anything for. I don’t understand. Why have it as an option for over a year if you’re never going to release a feature. Tetris has been out for decades, it’s not like you guys don’t have the capacity to drop a different theme for the game. Multiplayer has also been in the queue forever. What’s taking so long? How long can one maintain just the base game? I’m level 700 and it’s starting to get super boring and bland. You guys released an aesthetic update to the Home Screen after we voted on it and that’s hardly a feature that alleviates the blandness and boring aspects of playing for someone like myself. And then the store aspects of redeeming points for prizes can’t be the main leg this game stands on. Since when is that a foundation of the Tetris game? That shouldn’t be the main focus on the game. Just release something. Anything. Show signs of life that you’re actively attempting to keep this thing alive.

Updated Review. Paying monthly for no ads is annoying.. 4 stars- I love Tetris and have been playing since original game boy. My original review is below on the waiting time and needing internet (none in the Appalachia mts). The app is much better with VIP rewards, they sell out fast/: but understandable with it just starting. The most annoying part is paying every 30 days for no ads. Just an idea to make it ad free for those with an Apple Arcade subscription? I would play more often and not sporadically. I would then watch ads for the small prizes like lasers and shields. The ads take just as long as a quick game, are loud, and once the ad plays, I’m annoyed and close out the app. Paying $2.99 monthly is ridiculous with Tetris being a major world wide game and is free online to play. I will pull up the webpage on my phone to play instead. Lastly. For left handed mode, the controls are on the screen. Which doesn’t make sense. Original: Wish the initial loading time wasn’t so long trying to connect. Would like to just play original Tetris at times, especially when in areas where there is no WiFi or data. Working in a hospital and living in no where, there are total dead zones. The “offline” mode does not work. The screen still continues to try and connect to data. Initial title screen should have original Tetris and then option to go online. Just a thought for those who lack WiFi or live in the middle of nowhere.

horrible. game is an ad machine. tetris is such a simple game yet you managed to butcher the game anyways. some of the concepts are decent such as the battle royale mode, but the execution is god awful, as you will be able to see after playing only a few rounds of this mode. i am consistently within the top ten players in my region yet i get eliminated very quickly from battle royale. this is a good time to bring up the fact that the game is now pay to win. pay real money for extra power ups. also pay money even just for the chance to play battle royale. they claim to offer an offline mode, but you can’t even use that because you will get a disconnected notification every fifteen seconds while your pieces fall, making it impossible to play. so there is literally no way to play tetris on mobile without having to suffer through ads before every new round. i deleted this game a little over a year ago, when battle royale existed and was decent, but before your ridiculous battle pass. some time since then, your entire app has turned into a money machine. it is no longer about the love of the game of tetris. it is about getting the user to watch as many ads and make as many in app purchases as possible. Alexey Pajitnov would be rolling in his grave if he ever was so unfortunate to play this bastardized version of his game.

Really good game, brings me back to the old days. Back in my day, all we had were small handheld Game Boys that I would play Tetris on. But when I lost I would rage and throw the Game Boy out the window, and the Game Boy would accidentally hit a bald man in the head, leaving an imprint of the handheld. The man then came up to my apartment then commited defenestration (act of being thrown or throwing someone out of a window). When I hit the ground, I would pick up my gameboy and run as fast as I could away from the follicle-challenged man chasing behind me. As i looked behind me, I saw the man put on a red Cosco uniform signifying that he was a Cosco salesman. He used his powerful Cosco salesman powers to sell me on many products: a bottle of blue olive oil, 32 gallon chair, and a blue and yellow, green block of cheese. In my dream the same day, I would see Tetriminos falling down, but the block were shaped as bees and Kirkland Signature signs. Then I woke up to the sound of Herbert Hoover building the Hoover Dam in Arkansas. The movie was nice. Chicken men.

Needs changes. I’ve been playing Tetris for about 12-13 years and the biggest problem with this game is it has a cap on the speed. I played one classic marathon, got to the max level around a couple hundred thousand points, then made it all the way to 2.4 million until I had to go to sleep. I tried to save and quit but it lost my progress. Could have gone on forever at that speed, really pointless to play. Then I tried the BR mode, and capped at level 15 again. I played a few games and won them all, but once me and the last few people were past level 15 for a good 10 minutes it became incredibly boring. I got to 2.6 million in BR mode, with one guy left finally dying at 1.5 million. The game felt like it must have taken around 30 minutes. I was also growing the lead but there was nothing I could do if he was just good enough to survive the game would go on forever. Also I’m not sure if I had died before him would he have won, or needed to get to the points I was at? I will not being playing this game until they remove the speed cap. My thumb hurts, I lost over half my phones battery, and it’s just a huge waste of time.

Ads, pay to win, a disgrace. I love Tetris. Since I’ve started it allows me to think at a higher level than normal, almost meditative. But this app brings out so much anger. I know this review won’t don’t anything to change the entirety of modern society that causes the problems found in this app but it may help someone decide to spend their time more wisely. I deleted this app about a year ago and I forgot why. I consistently place in the 1% on the leaderboard yet I get knocked out of the royale mode by the majority of people with perks. These perks are very hard to get without paying for them. In the past 10 games I’ve played, the app has also crashed at least 4 times. The one game I was able to win, I had to sweet in order to win and be rewarded by an add that paused my music, took about 30 seconds, and crashed the app in the process. Oh and if you want to skip that ads, that will be $5 a month or $60 a year for a app that barely functions. For that money I can go buy an original nes and play the best version of the game. This app takes a game that has been proven to be able to increase cognitive function and induce a zen like state and makes it into a way of getting as much money as possible out of the new and old players effectively damaging the games reputation. Don’t get this app, if you have it, delete it and get a different version of the game.

Dismally bad presentation of a good game. This is horrendously bad and has only gotten worse over the time I've tried to play it. Always online so don't bother trying to play without internet, and even when you do have it, the app is so slow you probably can't play anyways. When it finally starts up you're greeted with some dude screaming at you about winning cash prizes in a game mode you can't connect to. And on top of all that you have to fight through the UI to figure out how to play regular tetris, and not that survival crap or whatever other annoying game modes they have. And of course there are ads before and between every round you want to play. Want to get rid of them? 3 dollars a month. Now that would be fine if the rest of this app weren't such a sh*tshow, but I'm not paying a dime for an app that won't even let me play half the time because it can't connect so I can play a singleplayer game. This is an extremely frustrating app, I'd rather just pay $10 for a classic tetris app, but that doesn't even exist. I don't recommend this at all.

Maybe bug? Maybe programmed incompetence?. This may be a bug, but I was playing Level 714 and I realized that the level is literally impossible to complete. All tetronimos are 4 blocks placed in different shapes, and given that the goal was "lines cleared," the level is incapable of being completed. You have a set number of tetronimos that will fall, and at the end, no matter what you do, you will have 2 few to fill the final line. That being said, this may be just a bug. However, it may also be a trick to force you to use coins or watch an ad, which would mean this game could be trying to make *Tetris* pay-to-win. That being said, you're gifted coins at every level failure AND success, so maybe it's trying to level that out? But keep in mind this is only one level (possibly; I only realized it on 714). I'm obsessed with this game, and I love that it turns Tetris into more than the same thing over and over. Highly recommend it, but just wanted to mention this for any perfectionists out there!

Pretty Fun Game. I’ve been playing since July and the game has changed a lot, some for the better, some for the worse. The royale game mode was fun but now it’s very complicated and some what pay to win as you can buy power ups to help you win against others, but you can also buy them with points. That’s why I stick with normal marathon mode, which is just plain simple Tetris. It’s fun and simple, but annoying to play with ads. I bought the ad free version but it’s only for a month?? I love Tetris but cmon-ad free should be a one time purchase even if it’s higher. They added a ticket system which I think got a negative feedback from the community as people didn’t want to have a limit to the amount of matches they could play in normal mode. The developers actually fixed this and made it so tickets where only for royale mode, and I applaud them for actually changing it. Overall a very addictive and fun game but I think they should make the royale mode back to what it was like in the summer and just change the ads thing TL;DR: A fun game and worth it but it’s much better without ads. Just a couple recommendations

Rather play “Block Puzzle”. This game is absolute garbage. The game used to be good, harboring a fun, new battle Royale mode and eventually a battle pass, and even though they weren’t original it kept the game fresh and made it stand out more from it’s predecessors. However, soon they removed the battle Royale mode and made the pass only usable if you payed for it, and it was no longer accessible if you simply grinded. Eventually it somehow managed to get even worse, with the same pass still being available for over a year now without any rewards or progression at all anymore, even if you paid for it. Not to mention the developers pretty much seemed to have sold their souls away to some terrible company called “My VIP” which allows users to grind to get points in order to participate in rigged stakes for a trip to some casino or vacation that only the developers could actually go on. Or to mention whenever you grind to get said points, if you got to the shop with enough to actually get something other than a digital Tetris background it literally halves the points you have so you can’t buy anything worthwhile. I just want to play simple Tetris, but I can’t really even do that anymore. This app is an utter and embarrassment, and it makes me sad to see a universally loved game turn into a heap of garbage. I would rather play “Block Puzzle” than Tetris.

Whooooo Tetris!. Easy to start playing, and highly addictive, this is the best mobile Tetris game you can get. With the new level update, I love trying to beat their oddly placed block patterns to complete the objective. Marathon, 99 player versus and time attack are all here as well, for players who want a classic experience on the go. One new thing I would want is buttons, right now it is only swipe controls, and while they are very responsive and easy to use, buttons are old school and I know a lot of people using this app would prefer buttons over swiping. On top of that the new loyalty points let you get real life things, like appetizers at certain places, and if somehow you can accrue 4,000,000 points, you can go on a free 7-day cruise. Thank you Tetris for making one of my favorite games available anywhere, you are truly awesome. I hope you make button controls for me and all the old school Tetris players out there!

Too many ads, play area is very small, players should be able to play using a remote. Every single time I’ve lost a game was due to thinking I’m pressing one of the onscreen buttons, but in all reality turns out I’ve been missing because the UI and the rest of the play area are both unnecessarily small. As of now I am using an iPhone 11 Pro Max, but the play area is smaller than my little brother’s iPhone 5c. I don’t have the greatest vision which makes this problem a bit more frustrating, but I think there should be an option to make everything larger. I currently struggle and feel very uneasy with the given controls and would very much appreciate if players were allowed to use a remote as I’m sure the game could be played with fewer mistakes. I would also like to ask for the option to have a different menu background rather than hearing the guy talk as soon as I open the game. The last thing this game needs is to cut down a little on the ads. There’s usually somewhere you would go to remove ads, and I’m not sure if there’s a spot I missed, but I’d definitely buy that in a hurry. Other than that, I think this game could be a lot better with these changes. I really love this game, but I will unfortunately be taking a break until at least one of these features are implemented. I hope this game grows and I look forward to rating higher soon.

Do not play this; More frustrating than fun!. I’m quite surprised by the 4.5 rating. I was looking for a way to PAY to have the ads removed. The in app purchases section of the App Store sell page for Tetris suggests there is a no ad option; I could not find it anywhere. The FAQ and chatbot are not helpful. There are slow ads after each Tetris round PLUS the “claim your prize” boxes may contain an ad/promo before you get your prize- this takes all the fun out of the app and just leads to frustration. I am pretty sure I spent more time waiting for ads to run their course (or waiting for the opportunity to bypass them) than playing Tetris. If the option to pay for the ad free version is there, make it easier to find. I have submitted a request to delete my account just out of frustration and even that was a headache. All I want to do is play Tetris, my gosh. AND I’m willing to PAY (a reasonable price) just to play it without the ads. I get you have to make money, but figure out some other way without assaulting customers with ads. Was the company thinking more about the bottom line than the end user? I wonder if they would play it with all these ads? This app is trash, I’d give it zero stars if that was possible.

Frustrating to play. I will echo what i’ve seen other reviewers say about the game—especially concerning the incessant ads and coin distribution/usage—but i’ll add something. And this is pretty small, and seems dumb until you play it, but the blocks don’t turn in sequential order. I remember playing this game on my home desktop as a kid, and I could always count on the blocks rotating clockwise, an essential component when you factor in time. This game, for some reason, can’t manage that basic feature. Also, if you want to build up coins so you can bypass ads? You’re better off quitting the level when it gets tricky. The absolute most coins i’ve gotten for a level is 56, and it costs 200 to skip ads and get ten more moves. I usually get something more in the teens-early twenties, idk why. Im not the best player but I'm alright. Anyway, you automatically get at least five coins when you quit as an incentive to try the level again. If you need to do that a couple times, then you just potentially doubled your compensation. I have had this game for less that a week, and i’m deleting it now because it is so frustrating to play. Please fix this classic game!

A massive disappointment. This game is bad. There is an abundance of ads in every mode, but royale mode is on another level of ads. Royale has items known as boosters. Boosters are power ups that can help you in Tetris, and in theory, they’re a pretty well made and unique mechanic. Adding complex items to a simple game is a good idea, and all three boosters and unique and well balanced. However, there’s one giant issue, and that is the way you get these boosters. To get them, you have to watch ads. These are very annoying, and since boosters are so powerful, you have to be have them to have any shot of winning the game. Royale also has another massive flaw, which is the number of players. When the game was popular, there were usually 80 players per game, but now it’s around 20. While these issues are mostly about the royale mode, this is mostly because the royale mode is the most unique game mode, and the only one that cannot be found in many versions. In addition, the guild system has you complete tasks, and the royale tasks are much harder than all of the other tasks. This game was a great concept, but the execution was so terrible that I unfortunately am leaving a 2 star review.

Clever Business Practices =/= Good App. It’s genuinely sad to see developers make slight changes that sacrifice playability for profits. I was excited when they introduced the Tetris Pass and monthly seasons, as it added a fresh breath to an otherwise timeless game. And you know what? It’s been fun! The challenges (though repetitive) make things interesting and though I don’t care much for the pins, the satisfaction of completing all the challenges is worth the time spent. It reminded me a lot of Fortnite a few years back, especially the way that I would spend real money one time to buy the battle pass, and then through completing challenges and playing the game, I would earn the necessary V-bucks to purchase the next battle pass. Call it cheap, but I felt it was a fair system that rewards the player for investing time into the game. The past few months worked that way with the Tetris Pass, but today I open the app to find that not only does this month’s season not include any coin rewards (not including loot boxes), BUT the Pass this month can only be purchased by paying $5 REAL MONEY. Gone is the satisfaction of purchasing this month’s pass with the coins I earned all last month. I get that they went more revenue, but I can’t imagine I’m the only one who won’t be purchasing the Pass this month, or any following months that require actual money. Poor decision on their part, but I get it. Whatever brings in more money, right?

ABSOLUTELY AWFUL. This will be the 4th time I’ve reviewed this version of Tetris - my previous reviews disappeared. I love Tetris, but this version just makes me deeply sad. The ads are indeed terrible and frequent, but my biggest problem is the controls. I really don’t understand how anyone could give this a positive review. If you get up to even moderately fast speeds, the game is unplayable. Worst input lag I’ve ever experienced. Truly a miserable, infuriating experience. GOD HELP YOU if you try the “royale” mode. Get ready to lose even if you’re winning. Devs should be ashamed for ruining one of the best games of all time. As others have said, would give this zero if I could. I really miss the EA version. EDIT, 9/1/23: Really could not be any worse. Truly, with no exaggeration, the worst, least responsive controls I’ve ever experienced in a game. I’ve lost more times than I can count watching a piece sluggishly catch up to where I placed it, or due to a piece dropping where I did not place it at all. This is inexcusable for a game like Tetris, especially when you’re charging $3.99 a month for no ads, KNOWING that the ads are long, frequent, and punishing. Playstudios is a craven developer whose other games are slot machine apps. They are not fit to hold the Tetris license.

Alright, considering there’s not much else out there.. I’m going to be honest, this game is pretty alright for keeping you entertained either during trips, while waiting for something or to play when you’re just extremely bored. However, this game handles pretty poorly. It took me much longer than it should have to get used to the controls, and the game gets stale after playing for less than an hour. But you also have to giant multiplayer FFA mode. This is probably the worst part of the game. The FFA is 50% how well you’re playing, and 50% determined by how many people are attacking you. This isn’t so much of a problem in Tetris 99, because you get the attacker bonus and can choose who you’re targeting (you can also target multiple people). This game only allows for one person to be targeted, meaning if you can get that person out, you’re still left with 2 other people attacking you. It’s not like you can really switch who you’re attacking either, because choosing who you are attacking is much more confusing than it should ever have to be.

Don’t bother. The amount of ads is unbearable, even trying to start up the classic Tetris mode forces you to watch an ad. The ads themselves are awful too, often being shady, misleading ones. The royale mode is a waste of time too, summing up to be not a battle of skill, but of who saved up enough power-ups or sank enough money in them to win the match. When you can use the 3 power-ups to get rid of the bottom 8 rows, get rid of the garbage sent your way, and also send 3 rows of garbage at your enemy and increasing the amount sent form you in quick succession, it’s no wonder people that don’t appear to be review bots rate this game low. The music is unpleasant, the controls are shoddy as well, being to close together and being unresponsive as well. There also seems to be times when the game will do something I didn’t want it to, like during a royale match the blocks I was placing dropping suddenly when I didn’t press the button for it to fall. You’d have more fun buying a Gameboy online or finding one, finding a copy of Tetris for it, and playing it on that, or even on any other platform besides this app. Don’t waste your time or money, and just pass up on this one.

Used to be better. To be clear: you can still play tetris, as designed. You don’t need to do royal mode or anything, so if that’s all you’re looking for you’re probably fine. BUT it used to have this fun feature where you win skins and various customization options by playing more and playing better, it made the game fun and easy to pick up time and time again. They got rid of it. This is my main grievance, especially since the art was genuinely good and varied. This isn’t my only grievance, though. It feels more gimmicky and fake, I think there are more ads and the loading times are way worse. The main screen is kinda ugly and working for challenges feels pointless because your only rewards are essentially power-ups for royal mode. I’ve seen people complain that it’s pay-to-win, which is entirely fair because the easiest way to get said really important power-ups is to pay for them. I can’t really speak to this but what i do know is it used to be easy to watch a short ad and get enough to last you through a few rounds and it felt balanced. It doesn’t feel like anything worthwhile anymore. Idk maybe I’m just caught up on what used to be, but it seems a lot of people agree with me and the number of players you’ll see with customization from the last true round of earning them is staggering. It just doesn’t feel worth holding on to or coming back to anymore

Come on, you did this to Tetris?. I remember playing this a while back, just Tetris with the ability to unlock stuff like new music. Then they added the battle royale thing, and from there I just quit. I just came back, and this is abysmal. You need to watch an ad to start a singular game of tetris, every time you play. Better yet, the two stage system of ads(show a video, then follow it up with a crazy oversimplified, potato version of the game) means that half of the time I try to start a game I have to restart because the game started at the end of the first ad, a full 15 seconds ago, and now there’s 3 garbage pieces in the middle of my board, which means a restart, and another ad, and possibly another restart. I’m writing this immediately after watching an ad, then the game bugging out and showing another ad, then me “losing the game” while still in an ad. I tried airplane mode to get the offline version, but they even added something in that makes it so that if you are in airplane mode it prevents you from using offline mode just so it can show more ads. This is disgusting, and I guess I’ll just play some low quality web version or something. At least those work, if clunky.

Built up good will to mask bad faith. I’ve said to myself for the past few weeks that if the game wasn’t free it would be unplayably terrible because of their method of delivering adds. Finishing a royale game would deliver a video add you’d have to mute individually since they don’t give you the option to default mute. The way you found out you won a royale game was that you were given an add even though you weren’t even close to topping out. But now they introduced a “ticket” system for EVERY MODE OF PLAY. You have to spend one of only 5 tickets to play BY YOURSELF. The only way to play without having to spend a ticket is their “together” mode but they purposefully made it so you can’t play by yourself in a lobby. There’s also “Primetime,” where you supposedly play for real money, but the entire time they’ve offered it they’ve always made it sound so shady, like some hyped-up unwinnable carnival game. First of all, if you aren’t a literal grandmaster playing on a MacBook you have literally no chance of ever doing well in Primetime. That is all not even to mention that the background is a loop of a live action add specifically for Primetime and I just really want to ask whoever thought that was a good idea what the heck they were thinking. What makes it so annoying is that they had a relatively good thing going for amateurs and casual hobbyists but then they introduced these ridiculously broad pay to play features.

Good game with some super annoying flaws. I’m going to keep this short, I have nothing to add to the positives said about this game, it’s a solid Tetris app for killing time on your phone. My problems revolve around the games inability to handle your phone doing anything aside from Tetris while playing. I’m on an IPhone XR, and when I’m in marathon mode or Tetris Royale, the game will lag a horrible amount, borderline freezing for a short period of time, whenever I get a notification from another app. This makes it almost impossible to play the game in the faster speeds because if you get one notification, the tetrimino will have fallen on its own by the time the game can recover from this attempt on its life. A smaller gripe but more understandable, when I’m wanting to manage a notification, I have to swipe down from the top of my screen, and this will almost always drop the current tetrimino on screen. This isn’t an issue in marathon mode, I can simply pause, but if I’m in a Royale or in the Prize games it can really mess up what I’m doing if I need to check what the email I just got is for. Simply making the top 5th of your screen not be affected by swiping would be a clean and easy fix to this.

Beautiful. Okay so when the app first came out it was amazing. You opened it and you played Tetris. Then they added a bunch of stuff in the menus and I didn’t touch it for a while but now it is complete. If you want that old experience, then simply turn on airplane mode. Now, however, this is the greatest. EA Tetris was crowded and kind of junky but all in all, it was good enough. This Tetris is so much better. Swipe controls will never be perfect for Tetris but these feel fantastic most of the time. There is the option for buttons which work fine, but are small and slightly awkward. They are also unscalable and immobile. If you grew up with Tetris on a Game Boy or DS like me they feel marvelous and are in a similar configuration, but their cramped size hurt my thumbs after a while. The micro-transactions are still there but they aren’t going to ruin your experience. It is kind of scummy that the premium pass needs renewed and the thirty second unskippable ads before every game are unpleasant, but understandable. There is the classic marathon Version that finally got level select. There is Tetris Royale which is kind of fun and a three minute mode for when you are in a rush. A fantastic thing that they added were local and global leaderboards. Tetris is one of my all time favorite games and this one retains everything that made Tetris amazing in the first place.

Could be better…. I’m a long time Tetris fan. I just recently downloaded this from the App Store and have only been playing it for a few days. I’ve come to find that while this is great if you like classic Tetris, there are some issues to this app. Here’s my biggest problem with this app. As you progress in the game you are rewarded with coins or points. Now in other games, you would save up your points to purchase different skins or textures or power ups. When I went to the “Store” section of the menu, all it gives you is the option to buy more coins with real money. I looked all over this app and there’s nothing you can purchase with your points. So that means all your rewards from completing levels are completely useless. It literally does not matter. I don’t know if this is something the developers are currently working on? But why put a cash system in the game if there’s nothing to spend them on? My final complaint about this game are the ads. Yes I know most mobile games have ads in them. But you get hit with ads after every level. And it’s always the same Gardenventures ad. So that’s it for me. It’s not a bad app at all, but if they fixed these 2 things I’d give it 5 stars. Edit: I just found out what the points are for. You can use them to get gift cards or money off at hotels. Which I think is kinda weird for a mobile game. Like I said, make it so you can use the points to buy textures or something to use within the game.

My complaints. This game is ok. I like it before all of the myVIP stuff came in, and that is probably a scam. You can literally win tickets to a concert or to a cruise ship, and those tickets are probably really bad. I wish they used some of the features before they moved to the myVIP features. Also, it takes really long to level up. I had the game for six months and I only got to level six. Plus, during the update, it erased my progress. I also wish that they would use some of the features from the old Tetris Blitz game, such as a Blitz game mode in which you can use power-ups from the old game. Also, I don’t like the new adventure mode. It’s not really an adventure, it’s just Tetris but with different amounts of moves and block placements. I think the only good game mode is Marathon. I’d like to see an online multiplayer Marathon mode soon. The last thing I’d like to talk about is the themes. When I originally got the game before the myVIP update, I had four themes, including the original one. After the update, when it reset my progress, it was absolutely impossible to get themes. You had to pay REAL MONEY for them. So, I’d like to see that in a future update. Tetris is Tetris, however, so I’m giving this 3/5 stars.

New ownership is destroying everything that was good about the app. Playstudios is a vulture feeding from the rotting corpse of n3twork’s app. This version is garbage for new users. They added nothing of value and made the whole experience much worse. Some of us Tetris nerds still have access to the teams, Royale and QP features, but I don’t expect that to last. They want to kill the community/competition that developed around the classic part of the game and focus on casual users. To that end, they created the adventure mode monstrosity, a generic block game that certainly isn’t Tetris and has zero appeal for anyone remotely interested in the real game. The whole thing is a train wreck run by casino app developers. The original app wasn’t perfect and obviously didn’t generate enough cash, but in hindsight it was a special place that fostered real competition and community. If any young person reads this, take note: nothing which has become a public good will last on the open market. One person or a small group will come along with money and terrible ideas and will destroy it. It’s inevitable. Twitter is another example. Good things must be protected from markets or we will lose them to the greed and stupidity of wealthy people.

Newly Acquired- November 2021- explains so much. PLAYSTUDIOS acquired the license for this app in November 2021. They don’t read any of the feedback/reviews on here from any of its users, clearly. I’m trying to let anyone who is wondering WHAT HAPPENED and WHAT WENT WRONG WITH THIS APP KNOW- THIS is what happened. Our Tetris team (who plays daily within the app) noticed a major shift, in everything. It ALL started going downhill in the app as soon as this acquisition started and has continued to get worse and worse and worse and more $money$ hungry than any of us thought imaginable. I played this game as a kid in the 80s/90s. I found this app a few years ago and enjoyed it.. Then PLAYSTUDIOS came in and took over and ruined everything! Just read the recent reviews! It says it all. NO care for user experience or feedback or decency. NO new updates to anything to help the gameplay/user experience. ADDING ads in every possible area and corner of the game imaginable. And horrible shady ads, I might add. If you enjoy watching shady ads more than playing Tetris, then this app is for you. It has become absolute garbage since its acquisition. SHAME ON YOU PLAYSTUDIOS. You ruined what used to be a good thing. All of the 5star ratings are from BEFORE you came along and ruined this game on this platform. 1 star reviews have come POURING IN since your acquisition and destruction of this classic game. What a sham.

This Used to Be So Simple and Good. I got this app before they added all the extra features like the Battle Royale, Primetime and whatnot, and it’s been a while since I played on the app but I came back to it recently and it’s changed so much. For starters, there are so many more features and what seems to be an always online functionality. Yes, the game will ask if you want to go offline when not connected to the internet, but immediately after “going offline” it says it couldn’t connect to the servers and won’t allow you to do anything until it does. I tested this on a plane and I couldn’t play a single game of Tetris. The other thing that frustrates me is how cluttered everything feels. They seem to have favored the money over the game because playing classic Tetris seems to be almost nonexistent now, replaced with all the battle Royale and other features. Back when I was first on the app, the only thing you could do was classic Tetris, with a few different themes and music. It was honestly great, and I wish they could’ve just kept that simplicity without adding all of the extra things. Or at least keep the simple classic game in the first place. 3 Stars might be a little generous.

Meh. The game is okay, all things considered. The elements of Tetris are there, but I will echo a few of the reviews in saying that the pay to win method of gameplay is tacky and unnecessary. Additionally, this game has repeatedly failed to save my progress after saving and quitting a game. I’ll return to the game later only to be forced to watch an ad, after which the game resets my (Classic) Tetris progress to 0. I wouldn’t have an issue with pay to win IF there were systems in place that helped worked around that style of play (if you could even call it that). But any opportunities to overcome that system, in addition to progress repeatedly being wiped away, are usually fruitless. The Battle Royale mode isn’t impossible if you invest enough time in other game modes to earn power ups, but the sheer number of people who simply pay for those advantages instead is off putting, making the Battle Royale mode frustrating and unrewarding. I’ll be uninstalling the app after writing this. I expect that the developers truly don’t care if one person quits their game, but hopefully this will give somebody else some guidance when

So difficult! 😩. So I’ve been playing Tetris for a couple weeks now, and I enjoy it, really, but I reached level 58 and oh my gosh. The blocks only leave a 2 block gap in the middle, and on top a 3 block gap. I don’t know what it is, perhaps I’m slow, but it just doesn’t give me time to react and get the blocks in the rotation and position I want it to, and I get a blockout several seconds after I start the level. I’m not writing this to be critical, like I said, I really like this game and I still give it 5 stars, but what I’m asking is that maybe please add something like where someone could skip a level at the cost of some coins, if it’s just too difficult for them and don’t think they’ll be able to beat it ( people like yours truly, for example). I’m really hoping you consider my suggestion, because I am pretty close to losing my sanity and rage quitting and deleting Tetris. Or perhaps I just need to take a mental health break from Tetris. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Thanks and bye!

It’s ruined now. I have big feelings about this and I hope the game company reads this. Listen, this app USED to be AMAZING but they upgraded it so much that it doesn’t even feel like you are playing traditional Tetris. It is LOADED with ads, and the game play levels are frustratingly short (so that you have to sit through more ads that are longer than the game play itself). All of my old progress was deleted out of no where and now it forces you to start from scratch, whether you are a seasoned player or not. Nothing about the way the levels are built now make me want to play anymore. I used to love the marathons and competing with other Tetris players. I’m not able to do any of that now. I have always been a die hard Tetris fan so this is very disappointing. I know I’m not alone here. Tetris is supposed to be relaxing and they stripped all that was good away from it. Im not anti-ad..I get that they need money to have this available online but it’s not even playable now. The old ad structure was annoying, but it was easier to deal with. Now you can’t even get out of the ads half the time. This app and “game” is complete and utter garbage now. I promise that the majority of great reviews on here happened when the game was in its hey day and before these upgrades. Don’t waste your time or money here, you are better off grabbing the 89 Gameboy out of storage.

Love it! (I also have 2 suggestions). Could you add a training mode where we can chose a speed level to train with and the score is kept track of in-game, but doesn’t count towards the leaderboard? The earlier levels are easy to pass but once I get closer to speed level 10, it requires lots of precision. A training mode would help with players who want to get better at performing at the higher speeds. The second thing is a bit harder to get in, and if your team of developers decide it would inundate the app with ads to get funds, then it is fine not to implement. But the second thing is multiplayer, I mainly just want the ability to challenge friends via game-center/local wi-fi. If you can make a large multiplayer server, that would be cool, but again, I prefer quality over quantity so if it stresses your resources, it’s all good. Thank you for the amazing game! I’m glad that there is finally a solid Teris game on iOS.

Fun to play but…. Of course if you love Tetris you’ll enjoy playing. The way the points are given though is inconsistent and seems to give more points if you fail a level but watch an ad. So if you don’t clear all the blocks within a certain number of moves you have the option to watch an ad or use your points to continue that level. If you choose to watch an ad you could end the level with 49 coins/points but if you clear the level and have moves left over you only earn 18 coins/points. So it seems the worse you do the more coins you earn if you watch ads. The better you do the less coins you earn. I cleared a level with 6 moves left and earned 16 coins but the I failed a level but watched an ad once I cleared that level I earned 48 coins. It really doesn’t make sense. You also have to watch an ad after every level you clear. I’m glad they finally added the option to pay for an ad free version. So I don’t have to do that any more. Overall I like the challenges and the option to play the original game as well as the challenge puzzles. They just need to do better with how you earn coins/points.

Overall good, with a few complaints. Don’t get me wrong, I love Tetris. I am at almost every primetime and have received money from it (it is legit). But when I first got it (around a couple months ago) there was a 10,000 dollar prize pool and I won a lot. I wasn’t very good, but I was still winning and having fun. Then I show up one day and there is a tickets system which you needed a ticket for everything. You could go offline and play just fine, but any other time it required tickets. I absolutely hated it but they did only make it so tickets are now only for Royale, which I like more. But they also dropped the prize pool on primetime to 1,000, which is one tenth that and almost never winning. One note, a lot of people complain about the ui and how small it is. I disagree, a lot of the time it is hard to tap the hold button or it sometimes doesn’t turn right. But there is a reason behind this. If you tap on the left side of the screen, it will turn left and vice versa. You can overcome the hold button issue because if you slide up it will hold for you. Nevertheless, I will still show up to primetime and continue to love the game.

Constant ads with no reasonable shut off. I have played Tetris for about 35 years. Great game, good for stress relief and unwinding, helps organize the brain. I loved sitting in front of my NES in the late 80’s or early 90’s and playing for HOURS. It’s my favorite game. This apparently is the same company? I spend 4x as much time watching ads than playing the game. I’m not going to buy other games, so the ads are useless. I just want to play Tetris. And the ads happen after every level, or almost every level. Once you feel like you’re getting into a rhythm, BOOM! Another huge ad sequence. There is no reasonable option to turn them off either. You can pay $2.99 for 30 days without ads, but then that just means that in order to play Tetris without ads, you’re paying $2.99 a month. no thanks. I have other bills in my life. Tetris has been shown to reduce symptoms of PTSD. I’m a therapist and suggest Tetris to my clients all day long. But if I knew I was suggesting them to watch ads? No way. Tetris is a multi-million dollar game… the creator must have so much money. And yet we have to watch stupid ads instead of playing this beautiful game? This is what’s wrong with the world. Gross and greedy capitalism instead of art and culture and creativity.

Ads, pvp, skins. Its fun but there’s too many ads, it feels like you cant do anything. If you want a gift, watch an ad, if you want to play, watch an ad. if you accidentally started the wrong mode and need to go back you need to watch an ad first, then quit, then pick the other mode, and watch an ad to play that. I wish there was a pvp mode without the power ups. Another issue I have is that some games I have no attackers, and the next I suddenly have two from the start. I’m not sure what determines that or how it works, but its hard to keep up getting tetris’d twice in a row at the same time, if they decide to use the power ups it’s an instant death right from the start, which has happened to me before. Another thing I have issue with is the previews for event skins. Soo, I really liked the way the valentines event “love letter” looked, it was so pretty with the roses, however the preview doesn’t show you *everything* so I didn’t know about the animations or the music. When I got it, I was disappointed by how terrible the elevator-ish music was and how distracting/hard it is to play when a million rose petals block the screen when you get a Tetris. The previews should be little videos or animations or even let you try it first so you don’t waste your time on getting an absolutely terrible background.

WHAT HAPPENED!!!. What happened to this game?!? It feels like every time tetris does something on mobile, it always involves bribery to the players in some way. There was that gambling tetris game, then when N3twork had this, they had prime time, then you can literally get coupons and reservations to hotels now?!? What happened to gameplay and you know, playing tetris??? I wouldn't be upset if the game was good, ok let me take a look at the game ok it got worse. At least when N3twork had it, you could play royale mode and prime time was a pretty fun event battling with players all around the world for the best score. The main event of this game now, with playstudios, is this level thing where to be honest every level is super easy and is just a way to stuff the players with ads. It feels like once playstudios got their hands on this game, they just took away everything good about what n3twork had, like what happened to the screen controls? With buttons and such, I'm not saying it's better but it was an option and now its not? Also they took away royale which, WHY? When will we get a good mobile tetris game (Thinking about it, n3twork was probably peak, as a competitive player it was the only time we got to play mobile tetris against other people. Also at first it was just multiplayer marathon, but n3twork changed it to actually send lines which I really appreciate) 3 stars because marathon still good

Good but needs some improvement. So don’t get me wrong for a game that was originally on the nes and now is on mobile, it isn’t to bad. But there are a lot of flaws. First it kinda feels like almost a candy crush type game, adding a thing called “moves.” This ruins the entire game because the point of Tetris is having unlimited moves while getting a whole row of blocks. Also, I almost feel that the levels sometimes get really unfair at times, or maybe it’s just a skill issue. For example, 13 lines, 40 moves, sounds easy enough right? Wrong, if your an og Tetris player like me you know that one of the best ways to play the game is by stacking blocks as much as possible until you get the long piece so you can snag a Tetris or 3 rows. But with the new move feature this completely ruins the gameplay of the game and has made me rage quit multiple times. Now don’t get me wrong, there is the marathon which is basically the original Tetris but almost feels like the blocks come at you way to fast. Also, ads kinda get annoying, like maybe put them at the end of every 2 rounds but nope, after every single one. This game isn’t bad it just could really use some improvement, especially to the entire move system.

Coins. This is overall a great game (one of my favorites) but i wish you (the developers) would make it easier to earn coins. I started playing this game back when it was relatively new and the chest feature was still an option. Somewhat recently it was removed and that was pretty much the only place you could get coins by effort. Which is my problem because collecting the Tetris game themes is something I like to do but now I cant buy them because I need coins which are pretty much impossible to get (unless bought with money). Theres the lucky box too but thats not a very sustainable way to get coins. For example right now you need 1000 coins to get the battle pass (which has a variety of themes) and chances of getting coins are low. Even if you do get coins the highest amount i’ve gotten from that was 5. I understand the whole money drive but i just wish the chest feature would be brought back or that it would be changed back to when you could buy themes with medals which was a lot better as it was earnings based on effort.

USED to be good, Not Anymore. I downloaded this app a year or so ago, played it for a long time before uninstalling it to make some room for a bit. I come back to see they’ve completely changed it. Looks different, even plays different (which shouldn’t be possible for TETRIS). For one thing, they have a crap level system for some random reason, which just feels completely unneeded for Tetris. But whatever, I can deal with that weird change. What I can’t deal with is the fact that they force you to watch an ad every time you start a new game. And I mean Every time. I would say to just go into airplane mode to work around it, but it won’t even allow you to do that. If you aren’t connected to some form of internet, you can’t even play because god forbid you not watch an ad. To top it all off, they Don’t allow you to pay to permanently get rid of ads. You can pay every Month, it seems, to get rid of ads, but it’s just not worth it. Greedy developers leads to a bad game. Find a knock off Tetris game that doesn’t have ads every time you wanna play, or at least one that lets you permanently get rid of them. Do Not waste your time with this Diamond quality game that’s been shattered and tossed in microtransaction garbage.

Not the best app, but has great potential.. I have four requests for you. 1. Cut back on the ads a little. I understand that you profit from ad revenue, but if you stuff so many ads into your app that people abandon it to look for something else, you're actually going to get less ad revenue than you would have gotten otherwise. 2. More control customization would be great. I have a different app on my phone called Techmino that has a high degree of customizability on its controls, and I've been able to find something that lets me play a lot faster on said app since I'm able to adjust button placements, shapes, and sizes to fit my hands better. The tiny buttons you have make intuitive sense, but they don't work as well when you actually try to use them. 3. Add on-screen controls to adventure mode. It is very difficult to pull off tucks and spins with swipe controls. 4. This one is a much smaller issue than the other three, but it's worth noting since some players may be caught off guard by it. The "up arrow" button on the controls hard drops the piece instead of moving the piece up. I'm not asking for a button that moves a piece up, but instead for this button to be retextured in a way that suggests a hard drop. I can imagine a lot of new players accidentally hard dropping pieces when they didn't intend to, and a lot of new players soft dropping every piece into place because they thought there wasn't a hard drop button.

Literally Pay To Play.... While some games have advantages given to those that pay for specific in-game items (like Clash Royale), Tetris gives you 5 games with the 5 tickets given (a new addition to the game in the previous update) and to get more tries you need to pay real money! For more tries you are required to pay a minimum of $3. This ticket gimmick is in all modes (except for the local multiplayer mode) which limits the amount of players in the Tetris 99 mode which was just revamped and in turn completely ruins the mode. I have been playing with my friend for the past few months trying to improve our scores but now we are limited to around 5 games per day. It takes 3-4 hours for 1 ticket! This is outrageous and completely unnecessary. This game was amazing until this update and I hope it gets fixed.

Full of ads, but otherwise fun. Do you want to play a local single player game? You need to watch an ad. Want to go back to the home screen after playing a game? You need to watch an ad. Want to open a free gift that you have to wait for? You need to watch an ad! I understand that apps need to monetise in some fashion, but this is excessive. While the gameplay is intuitive and engaging, having to watch an ad to play again after a good game deflates my spirits instantly. Maybe an element of choice would help in this, as I’m currently going between tolerating the ads and completely avoiding the game, as those are my only two options.

Battle Royale is terrible. The battle Royale mode is a such a bad interpretation of Tetris it ruins the enjoyment and taking the start of the game at your own pace and gradually speeds up as time goes on however in the battle Royale mode if someone uses and attacking power up combined with a Tetris it’s basically game over unless you use your own power up which is ridiculous the fact we need power ups basically makes the game pay to win it’s horrible. The battle Royale mode should just be normal Tetris against others and not have attacking or battle Royale should just not be in there altogether.

It’s okay but…. Growing up, I really loved playing Tetris with my friends on Facebook. It was super enjoyable, so when I saw this game for mobile, the fun I had with it excited me so much that I downloaded this game and tried it (old times’ sakes). I understand the hype of bring something new into it, but this is just not the Tetris that I knew. What’s with all these challenges forced onto you to play the game? Like meeting the goal just stops the game altogether, there’s no sense of satisfaction when you bring down the blocks, some levels would have blocks building up automatically at the start, etc. It would be great if they could just put all these new things in a separate category within the game, and give an option for the very classic mode where there are no “moves” limit, no “challenges”, no auto add-on stuff, just classic endless game. What a bummer. Deleted the app after playing it for a while, bored me by the end. Such great memories associated with this game, but now it’s all just meh. Wish the developer had a sense of nostalgia.

Conflicted. This is a great app and has provided many hours of great gameplay. However, I am very, very unhappy and disappointed with the app’s inability to retrieve saved marathon games. With scores upward of 2 and 3 million it is extremely frustrating when saving such progress then attempting to continue on to beat high scores, only to find the game freezes for 1 minute, runs the same advertisement that it always runs, then begins a new game. This needs to be rectified to prevent people from deleting the app out of annoyance.

Lost its essense. I downloaded this game because, like any 90s kid, I was filled with nostalgia. I never had a Gameboy, and I remember watching my cousing play with hers and launching those rockets. This game, though relaxing, is nowhere near that. The essence of tetris- hoarding those bricks and then getting rid of them of a lot at once is gone. It plays exactly like any other brick game, and you need to get rid of bricks quickly with no hoarding. No rockets either. Has an ad after every level, too. Quite annoying. So if you want a brick game that has an ad after every level and is Tetris in name only, this game is for you.

So upsetting. I used to love this game, i deleted it due to low storage on my old phone but i’ve gotten a new one now and this is the first game i wanted to get. I dont know why but it’s gotten so bad, all the good features are gone, cant even customise like you used to be able to and there’s no battles anymore, a “teams” feature is locked now apparently and theres ads after every level you pay, not even providing an option to pay for no ads which i’d honestly pay for instantly. Ontop of all that the levels dont even work untill you’re using wifi or cellular data. Incredibly upsetting that such a good game has been ruined Also just realise the “updates” mention listening to community feedback… never heard something so untrue in my life lol. Please let me know when all of this is fixed and i’ll be happy to come back and play again.

Fix it.. Every time I exit the game my saved game is erased. I got a high score and paused it to do something else and when I re entered it my progress and my score was gone. An hour of playing to be erased because I exited the game. A score of 1.6 million, gone. Fix it. Also remove the tickets they are stupid. 5 games and then you have to wait for hours just to play another game. The developers are just getting greedy for money now. It literally pay to play! What are you guys? EA? Just fix it. When I first downloaded the game it was just solo marathon. I would like it to go back to that. Less pointless modes or cash cups. I just want regular old Tetris.

Ad filled Mess and Unfair to Boot. As an avid fan of Tetris, I thought I’d install this and have fun, however with all the recent changes it’s made the game frustrating and annoying to play. ADS EVERYWHERE, like you can’t play a match without seeing an ad before or after the game, this is especially annoying when it ends up lagging or you can’t exit out of it because of the ad’s close button being either unseen/too small, or the ad won’t even play. Now onto my biggest gripes with the game, the controls as well as the power ups and changes to garbage in Royal mode. I REALLY hate these changes, the power ups just give players who either pay of power ups or get them out of crates an unfair advantage, felt like a cute gimmick at first until you see that in the beginning of Royal, you get piles of garbage that incentivises the player to spam single lines to bully players. The fact they lessened the amount of garbage and how little time you can hold them before they drop is awful, a huge mistake in my opinion. Now to the controls. PLEASE FIX THEM, they’ve been awful since the game came out with constant missed fast drops and barely allows to the use of moving a block while rotating it where you want it to go, making T-Spins, Z/S-Spins frustrating to try and pull off.

Too many ads. It’s a good game but this has nothing to do with the company that makes this version. It’s slow, stupid animations between levels for no reason. The ads are the worst. You can pay your way out of some of them permanently, but you still need to keep buying coins or watching very very long ads to continue with the game. My advice, play something else, something you can just pay for. This is one of the most annoyingly money hungry games ever. The developers should be ashamed of themselves , it’s like the capitalist version of public exposure; you are just showing you are disgusting and greedy and are willing to ruin a good game to try to make more money than you deserve for copying a game that was good.

Fantastic game but..... Great overall mechanics, easy to get used to and smooth. The battle Royale is fun the solo mode is great. But the main issue I run into is the save feature on the solo mode. I have a high score game that I want to come back to later so I save and quit. A day later I come back and it’s gone. It’s so sad since some of those games could have been my high scores. If they can input a new save feature or just make the one they have now more reliable I would greatly appreciate.

Too many ads and slow. Way to many ads, it’s ridiculous, I understand the app is free and developer need to make money but putting ads in. But it’s a joke that each game starts with an ads and the close “x” button is hard to press and always direct you to download the ad app. I use iPhone 12 and this Tetris app is not something big to run, but the app is not responsive and slow. Always stuck in somewhere. Somehow, also it’s taking a lot of battery to run as it becomes hot at the back of my phone. Developer needs to optimise the UI so app can run smoother. It’s disappointing that I had it enough and decided to delete this great game because the app issue. Not recommend to download

REALLY GOOD!. Tetris is a really amazing game, and it is very entertaining. It actually helps you with life skills like packing the dishwasher. My mum got me into this game when I was putting my dirty plate into the dishwasher. There was no space in there, and my mum came along and took the plate off me and somehow, without moving anything, she put it into the dishwasher with no problem at all! She then said to me to download this game, and so I did. Now I can fit my dirty dishes into the dishwasher! There is just one problem, I can’t figure out how to change my name on the game! Other than that, I feel like I am getting smarter everyday! Thanks for making this really fun game!

Theme Idea and review. I think the games great, it looks good, it feels good and not to mention.. it’s Tetris. I’ve been playing it for a while and i think it’s really good, I don’t really like the membership, a lot of games have one, and it’s usually to get rid of ads and gives you a skin. I hope that not all themes have to be payed for because I liked using different ones, it was nice. Speaking of themes, I have an idea for one. I was thinking of the theme from EA’s Tetris. I really liked the original Tetris for mobile, and it would be a nice throwback. In conclusion, you should definitely get this game if your already into Tetris or if your just starting to play.

Futuristic gameplay. This game is incredible different shaped blocks fall from the sky, you can move them into different areas and rotate them around, once they drop if you make a line they will actually disappear and that is how you score, the graphics are incredible they look just like blocks, technology is a Marvel

The Ads are BRUTAL. Nostalgic game from my childhood - couldn’t wait to play it. However, enduring a number of 30-60 second ads that you are desperately waiting for the dismiss buttons to eventually appear leave you spending more time watching ads in between levels (or in between failing a failing a level and retrying) than actually playing the beloved game. To make matters worse, no freemium model. Happy to pay once to buy the game. I am up to level 62 - so right now, I absolutely *hate* the advertised games and I will never install them. I am almost at the point where I hate this game now and might actually delete it. No more nostalgia for me :(

Devious. Obviously an enjoyable game, but could no longer accept the sly third party app swap as though you had clicked on an ad. The ads are placed at the bottom beneath the gameplay and the intention is to make you think your finger had slipped, ‘accidentally’ clicking the ad. Happens way too often, even when your finger is no where near the bottom of the screen. What makes it worse is that when you enter back into the game, the music stops playing… way to ruin an experience. Cheap tricks. Developers need to rethink what kind of people they want to be in this world.

Update Changes. I was hoping that the purchase of ad free would be added to the game as an option and I’m glad that it was even though I don’t love that it’s only for 30 days but I get that you have to make money. What I wish hadn’t been implemented was the ticket system. I understand why one might limit entry into the Tetris Royale with tickets but it just seems greedy to include the solo version in the ticket limits as well. What’s the point of playing Tetris if you can only play 5 games and then have to wait another 6 hours or whatever it is to play again or you have to consistently fork out money to play. I get adding some form of monetisation outside of ads but the way it’s been implemented seems greedy and that’s not something I like saying as a game designer because I know that you need to make money but this just rubs me the wrong way.

Problems here and there. The basics are great. It does function like any Tetris game. But there are some problems. 1. What is the point of having something called offline mode when it tries to connect to the internet every 20 sec or so and gives up a window with a retry button (and nothing else). Seriously it doesn’t even pause the game when that pops up. 2. Pause function. It does work but for like 5 frisking frames after that you can’t do anything. Very helpful when that block almost landed cuz u were on lvl 10, you hit pause because you sneezed, hit continue and that block will stay where it is (regardless what you do). Why can’t you add a countdown like the website? 3. Royale mode. Concept? Great idea. Outcome? P2W or pros only. Possible suggestions include: Have a garbage limiter. I played this mode twice and both times I died with over half of the board being grey. Other options include having a league system to avoid players with a marathon score of 20k being with those that have 200k. I hate it when that pro is attacking me and of all peeps it has to be a pro. Or just remove both the garbage and power up things.

Pay to play 👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽. Please remove the pay to play for Tetris Royale it’s really ridiculous, it was completely free for all and now you’re charging $5 per day to use it!? If the internet connection cuts out you loose a ticket to play it aswell which is completely unfair!! I’d rather it be on Apple Arcade and completely free to play than this 👎🏽😔

Absolute hell of ads and long load times to play a 30 year old game. I just want to play Tetris. Instead I downloaded this abomination of micro transactions and painfully long ads. Everything wrong with mobile games and the Fortnitification of every mobile game by brain dead, greedy app designers. After waiting for the game to load (a crazy long time), and getting through all my tedious login ‘awards’ I managed to play 30 seconds of classic tetris before I had to watch an ad for another game that was longer than my play time. I hope the recent movie draws more people to this app to increase awareness of the grotesque state of gaming. Congrats on acquiring the ip and running its legacy into the ground.

Ads are bad and make the app freeze. Of course anyone who plays free games from the Apple App Store would be familiar with the annoyance that is ads when playing the game, it was makes them free, which is usually not an issue. But for Tetris the ads are poorly timed, often appear immediately after the game prompts an offer to watch an ad for some kind of benefit, press no: still have to watch an ad. There is no consistency for ads shown, some allow a skip within 5 seconds of playing, others force the user to watching for over 30 seconds with no benefit after. Several times the app has frozen while an ad is playing or shortly after the video for the ad finishes, meaning I then have to force quit the app and reopen it if I want to keep playing. The worst part is that unlike other games the no ad option is $4.99AUD and it’s temporary for 30 days… which is just ridiculous. If I am paying to remove ads, make it $1.99 if it’s temporary or don’t offer it at all unless it’s permanent. Highly disappointed in the developers when this is such a classic game, many other popular free games have mastered when to play ads and what kinds so that players don’t end up disgruntled and eventually deleting the app which just results in less revenue for them. Lose-lose.

Needs improving. This version of Tetris definitely needs some improvements ASAP. Controls are great but the gameplay area is too small and scaled down, with the background taking up most of the screen space on my iPhone 8 Plus. It also lacks simple options that were present in previous versions of Tetris on iOS such as the ability to start a match on a higher/faster level in a Marathon game. An option to turn off the ghosting/shadows effect around the blocks would also be great as visual effects like these can be quite annoying.

Rotate random?. Why don’t the blocks rotate consistently? I’ll rotate and it’ll go sideways and then back to the original position half the time, rather than the block being upside down. Often I have to rotate the block 5 times before I can place it. Means I have no real control over where the block is actually going, especially in the later levels when it’s high speed. Makes it feel less like a strategy game and more luck based, which isn’t really the point of Tetris.

Playstudios ruined a fun classic. Since the app was taken over by Playstudios, they have turned it into a gambling platform pushing their crappy rewards points with no interest in a playable Tetris game. This used to be a fun classic that I enjoyed daily with a great team, we would work on the season rewards together and chat. I used to gladly pay for a monthly season pass. Now there is zero motivation to play the app, since there are far better Tetris implementations to be found elsewhere. That this gambling junk app is somehow permitted as the official iOS Tetris is a huge shame.

Ads now on actual game page as you play. I am extremely disappointed to have updated the app to now have ads appearing on the actual page whilst I am playing a game. The ads are VERY distracting but to make it worse they change every 15 seconds or so which takes my eyes off my game. And because of the need to make space in the layout for the ads, the ‘pause game’ button has been moved upward and because it’s not where I am used to I keep pausing my game by accident. This app has enough ads users have to put up with between games but to now have ads on the actual page whilst you’re trying to concentrate on your game, what’s even the point anymore? I would no longer recommend this app

This isn't Tetris with ads, it's ads with Tetris. The monetization of this game is absolutely ridiculous. Anyone who loves Tetris will hate this game because you're barely even getting into it before GAME OVER, WATCH MORE ADS. And there's no option to just buy the game, your only option is to pay to remove the ads for a limited time. This sort of hot garbage is why Nintendo will always be around. I'd rather pay $300 for a Switch and a copy of ACTUAL TETRIS than deal with this monstrosity. In fact, I think I'm going to dig up my old DS Lite and play Tetris on that just out of spite. Well done, you've literally driven me right off the platform.

Flawed but has potential. I'm a big fan of tetris so I was pretty hyped seeing this on the store. But I can't help but be a little disappointed with how the game controls and how tetris royale plays. About the controls they're actually pretty good... for right handed people. Meanwhile for left handed people like myself it feels a little off. And I know there is a left handed mode but that's only for off screen controls. It would be nice if you could add some invert options to the game so your controls are a little more customizeable. Also having powerups in tetris royale, that you can pay for, feels super cheap. I'm not saying get rid of them but I think you should add a system that makes it more fair. Like maybe they can only use one of each powerup per round. All that out of the way I think, with more polish this game can be real good! Hope yall keep updating the game Edit: I'd like to add that the hitbox for the hold button is way too small please fix it and make it bigger it has ruined my runs multiple times

Utterly disappointing. Tetris ruined.. So, the latest update says the developers are listening to community feedback but if you take a moment to read any of the recent reviews it’s clear that they aren’t! The ads are overwhelming and deceptive. The App Store listing and in-game instructions mention Royale and multiplayer and quick play modes which don’t exist. You earn in-game coins that cannot be spent or used in any way. I’m not sure how this game got the App Store’s Editors Choice badge, and featured in a story - perhaps once this game was worthwhile but it certainly isn’t now. The app needs to be re-evaluated by the App Store and possibly removed for misleading claims. It’s shameful that the creators of Tetris have licensed the IP to a cynical slots and gambling company. The license need to be revoked and this app destroyed before the legacy of Tertris is diminished any further. Utterly disappointing.

Nice old memories. Love the game but I think the play area is not big enough compared to speed of pieces the length of the Tetris window should be more there is empty screen on top and bottom it’s waste, relative speed - it gets too fast too quick in small screen and by the time you move piece and change orientation upper half of the screen/ half playtime goes down the drain too quick With some changes you can capture that good old Tetris better physical buttons on gameboys and game remotes are quicker to use than touch screen mobile app needs some work

Obnoxious ads forced down your throat. The game itself is okay. The marathon game is very much like the original Tetris although it seems to jump speed at some point and would be better if it was more gradual increase. The levels are okay mostly, but generally too short. But what makes this app horrible is the incessant ads, especially the ones with countdowns which cede into a new 30 second or whatever contain followed by yet another countdown and so on. This, when combined with "hard" levels that aren't hard, they are literally impossible because you don't get enough bricks to achieve the objective without watching ads / buying more turns, leaves you with a really bad taste in the mouth. So no, I don't recommend this game which is a literal a waste of your life.

We are not living ATMs. When the game can out three months ago it was great. Had the option of a one time purchase to remove ads. Now as of the latest update they added a “Premium Tetris” which is $8 a week!! All you get for that is no ads (some people already had this from the one time payment), a new skin, and three, that’s right THREE, avatar icons. I’m sorry but no game is worth over $400 a year. Especially when there are cheaper/better alternatives. Show power with your wallet, let apple know we don’t want any more game companies doing these stupid payment options which are downright ridiculous.

Good, but not great.. I really enjoy playing just in the standard adventure mode. I do enjoy team challenges but not the Royale ones, Royale is just ridiculous and not fun. My biggest issue (which may not matter to some) is there is a screen to change themes, backgrounds, icons etc but no options to change to anything. I have so many reward points that I can’t spend because none of the rewards are applicable to me. I’d LOVE to be able to spend them on choosing colours and themes and customising my gameplay screen!! Please BRING BACK CUSTOMISATION!!!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻

It’s ok?. I’ve had this game for about 3 days now. Sure it’s fun I do love Tetris, but there’s one issue I have. I only play the marathon mode and I know a single swipe down will immediately put the block in place. But, every once in a while the block will automatically go into the swipe mechanic even when my finger is still on the screen. The game itself is good. It’s like PvZ and PvZ2 I honestly liked the original better instead of this. It feels like Electronic Arts (EA) bought this company and added microtransactions to it. It’s still good but there’s the swipe issue and the sort of boring level feature. It feels way to repetitive. Even for Tetris standard. Anyways that’s really it. -Bread

Filled with ads and can’t use offline. The gameplay is fine by virtue of being a game originally made in 1984 (practically impossible to mess it up), but the abundance of long ads with intentionally obscure and hard to find exit buttons combined with not being able to play without internet connection is inexcusable. This is a MOBILE game the point of MOBILE phones is MOBILITY and if i can’t use a MOBILE game without internet access just because the owner of the app is solely interested in making money through the ads that need internet to be shown to you its not worth anyones time.

Fluid Gameplay that Needs Customisable Controls. Tetris is still a great game despite being reproduced a billion times since it first came out in Soviet Russia in 1985, and this app does a fine job continuing that history. With that said, it’s missing some of the best features of the EA version of the game: and that’s the control set, which allows single press gameplay OR a more manual gameplay. This release would benefit greatly from a small adjustment like that. Also, it’d be nice to choose the difficulty level you’re playing on as well. And maybe even a soundtrack list you can use any time.

Bootlet Tetris even with registration. What more can I say, this is an official Tetris game but it feels like a complete bootleg version of it. The controls are clunky, they don't register, pressing hold has a 1/3 chance of working and to top it all off, the back-to-back system is wrong. This game could be heaps better if we got actual buttons to push to use as controls and were able to customise them. Ads are infuriating, there is no option to even buy No Ads, even with money. This could be 10x better if we could just have no ads to start with and have an option to watch ads for bonus rewards, it'll make us feel like royalty. Egg Inc did this, and its incredible. The monetisation methods in this are awful, the mechanics are awful, it puts a bad view on other official Tetris games that are absolutely amazing (Tetris Effect: Connected) just because of how unrefined and unorganzied this game is.

Tetris Mobile has changed a lot. Ever since Tetris Mobile switched the owner from N3TWORK to Playstudios, my experience with the game has gone worse over time. Apart from the iffy controls that N3TWORK Tetris games have, I really like the modern and elegant UI of the older version, but now it has been replaced with a more playful and frankly worse UI. The game now has the myReward feature which in my opinion kills the fun that is casual Tetris. The gameplay, fortunately, still stays relatively the same as before, but I don't feel like this game would be my choice if I want to find a Tetris game on mobile, it has changed a lot and it doesn't feel like the same before.

Understanding the problem of ads. Look, it’s Tetris, the games is simplistic in design, the featured game modes and customisation is great, and for the past few years I’ve played this game, the ads before and after each match have been quite reasonable. But I think it’s gotten to a point where the monetisation in this game has actually impeded the gameplay itself. The little ad boxes below each match of Tetris before never affected me, but now while I’m playing I seem to swipe onto them and it sends me straight to an annoying ad of another game that doesn’t represent what it’s advertising. Of course it’s possible that user error is at fault, with me using the lower part of the screen to move around the pieces. But never in the 3 years of playing this game has it occurred, and now in the past month I’ve probably done it approximately 30 times with no sign of slowing. I really enjoy trying to get high scores but the amount of rounds I’ve lost to this ad problem has made me want to stop playing the game. Unless they fix this ad interference I couldn’t recommend playing this game, the monetisation of mobile games is already way too high now, and I’m sick of it.

An old favourite but…... I’ve always loved Tetris and have played many verdions on assorted consoles and smart devices but never have I encountered such a glitchy Tetris game as this. It’s slow and often unresponsive to my taps which causes me to lose games or misplace pieces. Additionally, the volume is terrible. I have it on full volume and still can’t hear it well, then when I get an ad or change apps, it’s really loud. While the game modes are fun and challenging, that’s the only challenge there should be, not the actual running of the game. I’ll be deleting this app.

The game is great but the ads ads annoying. Don’t get me wrong I know the ads are there to fund the game, but most games with ads at least let you skip them pretty quickly. In this game you are forced to wait ages for the X button. If I’m not interested in the ad I’m not interested, forcing me to wait is only going to make me hate your product more. I won’t buy Township, Wordscape or Gardenscape out of principle now. I’ve now seen the ads about 10 thousand times. Also it’s annoy not having seperate touch points for rotate and drop. Once the game goes faster it’s very easy to accidentally rotate instead of drop.

No more themes. Shame the Love Quest season has had hardly any rewards, I had to pay for the Tetris Pass and it had only 15 levels. I am told I have unlocked collection items when I have not. The ads for weight loss products never stop and the ads for demeaning games featuring women with facial hair are offensive. Edit: three months have gone by now with no new themes. Where is the variety? Avatars etc are all very well but players want choice of what they play.

Going backwards. I used to enjoy this aop, but you no longer get the experience promised by the preview in the App Store. For the last few seasons the content has been severely cut back, with the regular seasonal rewards of avatars, frames, backgrounds, pins and themes for the different modes of play all gone. Now you only get daily challenges for Adventure mode (the number of rounds of which is finite) with no seasonal tally and therefore no incentive. What gives? Why is the gameplay experience so much lessened, but the app itself just gets more and more bloated (733Mb on my phone including data).

Controls too small. I love the game so far, it’s a Tetris fans dream, but I do have a issue with it. There’s no Way to make the controls bigger, which is disappointing because I usually miss the controls because of the size of them. Maybe if you could turn your phone to make it in landscape and the controls bigger or just have a control size can figuration in the settings that would be nice.

Ads have ruined this game. The core gameplay is still as fun as ever, besides the controls being a bit spastic sometimes. But these ads. Honestly you should be ashamed of yourselves on the cancer filled ads every time you want to play a game. To make matters worse, you can pay for ad free….but only lasts 30 days. What a joke. You can play in offline mode, but what’s the point when the game pauses every 5 seconds to ‘try and reconnect to the internet’. Why have an option to play offline if it’s still going to try and reconnect to the internet, even if your phone is on airplane mode. Let us buy the game for $4.99. Stop with the constant ads, and have some integrity you muppets.

Plays fine, but the ads are so obnoxious that it’s hard to believe this is an “offical” game. At the end of every single round (why does tetris even have “rounds”?) I’m hit with an obnoxious full screen 60 second ad. I know you can skip them after a while but that’s beside the point. Additionally, why is the “remove ads” (for real money) option a temporary thing? If I’m giving you $5 or whatever, I don’t want ads to return after a month. Yet another victim of the modern subscription service epidemic.

Royal mode is flawed... the rest is ok if a little buggy. So, score is meaningless in Royale mode? So you spend 5 mins just waiting for the difficulty to increase to something engaging. I can beat 50 people after 5 mins with a score <1000 by letting pieces slowly fall and clearing the odd line... meanwhile people go out with a higher score than I will ultimately get .. but I beat them? It’s just not Tetris. 😋 If score is meaningless remove it from royal mode (and maybe start it at a higher difficulty (save us all several minutes if nothing)... this isn’t a big deal - just a bug bear.. ... then there is the issue of the Royale leaderboard... its more ‘efficient’ to simply block out as fast as possible and collect the points and start again.. 🧐 The rest of the game is ok.. sometimes oddly slow to load and lags a bit at times but not too bad.. (may be my phone with deteriorating better)

Polished well but a few annoying stuff. I love the design of the game, because its so basic and easy to understand. The games modes are fun however an ad before every single match is annoying. Power ups are only useful on a slow speed, because on a fast speed you’ll have to take a finger off the game to press it, as well as accidentally using the power up. I would like more game modes for the competitive scene, like 1v1s or team battles.

Ads broken and game not registering moves. The ads are broken. It will just stay on an ad sometimes, after the timer is finished, instead of an X you are given no choice but to download the game they are advertising. Even if you download and press “get”, the game still does not let you exit as the X button never pops up! I’ve had to close the app and reopen after each level sometimes and the most annoying part is the game will sometimes register my finger incorrectly. It will drop a block in the wrong place or it wont even register wanting to move the block left or right to fit a tight space (once it slowly lands in an area it doesn’t give you an opportunity to move it left and right before sticking down like the original tetris!

Great game, but ads ruin the enjoyment.. Really fun game, but every time you start a new game or open the app, you have to watch gameplay of other games, if you accidentally click outside of the microscopic “skip” or “x” to close button, it opens the App Store or another screen where you are forced to either shut down the whole app or play a trial of another game. I can handle this once every few games, or a 5 second clip which you can easily skip, but this got really irritating to the point where I avoided opening the game.

Tetris review. Well done, A defined control set-up replicating the original Game Boy would improve the game. Block manipulation in critical situations can be lacking due to current control set-up. Over-all, an enjoyable game. Cheers.

Bad replacement for a satisfactory app.. Took the old app offline, and replaced it with this one. Every single time you start a new game of Tetris marathon, you are forced to see a 2 part ad. If you resume a current game, you are forced to see another ad. If you watch the ad, and decide 15 seconds in to restart the game, you have to watch ANOTHER ad to start a new game, 15 SECONDS after watching the previous ad. Furthermore, most of the ads have a “hidden” x button, and any clicking on the screen at all will take you straight to the website when you are just trying to skip the ad. To add to that, you can’t pay to get the ads removed indefinitely, you can only “subscribe” to get ads removed for a month. I’ve never reviewed an app before, but I was so disappointed by this that I felt obliged.

Ads. This game isn’t bad. Standard tetris. The terrible part about this game is the amount of advertising you are subjected to during gameplay and in between levels. It ruins the game. The ads are not short either, and takes away from the fun of the game. It is mind boggling that they siltill have people willing to play with the amount of ads they put in.

Bring back the other one. The whole game is horrible, it does a horrible job of trying to replicate how the old one looked. Everything down to the format, appearance and basic functionality of the game is so bad. The appearance of the blocks and backgrounds look like rip offs of the original Tetris game and they certainly don’t look good. The format is horrible there’s literally so much extra space but you give us this tiny screen that’s not even in the middle of the screen, I’m guessing in the future it’ll be extra space for even more ads considering the amount already in the game. Between every single round there’s an ad and in order to get rid of them you have to pay like 7 dollars Honestly would be better off just installing a Tetris rip-off because at least those games would have proper formatting

This game isn’t worth your time. Pay to win, too many ads and a “remove ads” purchase only lasts 30 days. Don’t bother with this game, it’s not worth it

Not the original. This would be a lot more fun if it wasn’t so heavy on the interactive ads, the speed progression was reduced slightly, control issues were sorted out, and crashing reduced. Always-online was a poor decision as well considering some people just want to play some classic Tetris and not have a fly-by-night company have access to their device like the many clones on the store.

Not really good. First objection : The tiny box in which the game is played is ridiculously small. Why didn’t they use the whole screen or at least bigger part of the screen?! Second : There is a lag in response to commands. This is tolerrable, although irritating, during early stages when the action is slow. As the game accelerates, it becomes a dealbreaker and I cannot recall the last time I did not quit the game disgusted. How can anyone make a game like this with such a bug?!? Not recommended. I wish I could find my old Tetris again.

The worst Frigin Ad sponsored Game period!. The game is hardly playable for Free. The Ads are THE most annoying of any game out there! Often resulting in a Circular Ad loop where you end up in Ad Purgatory.

Too many ads and removal of offline play. The only way you would be able to play this app without ads is to just turn off the wifi in your device. However they updated the app and changed it so that you MUST have internet to play. Now you have to play with 30 second unskippable ads between EACH game. However I must commend the game. The controls and fluidity of the block placement is good! And it is frankly a shame that this fun game is made u playable by the advertisements =\

How to ruin a nostalgic game in under 5 minutes. Allow me to preface this by saying I don’t write reviews often. At all, really. But I had to for this. I’ve loved Tetris for years, played as a kid and still play it now, and thought this was gonna keep that nostalgia running. Great graphics, decent controls, seemed fine. Then you force me to watch an ad... Before every game I play? Of basic Tetris? Not a chance. I’ve never deleted an app off my phone as I did with this - what an insult to the beloved game.

Relentless money grabbing adds. The game is great, but the casino style cash grab of it is terrible. You have to sit through a 1minute add of another cash grab game every round or approximately every 3mins of play time.

Ads are brutal. Ugh!! The Ads are relentless and super annoying. Everything you do, they make you watch a full ad and then some… play one game then more ads! Game play is a little tough at first but after a few games it’s classic Tetris fun. Too bad the ads will kill this game for many.

Tickets?!. I’ve been playing this game for months. The Royale mode is my favourite feature, and what I spent most of my time using. To suddenly put it behind micro-transactions is disgusting. I know there needs to be revenue but I would have happily paid to have ads removed because I really did enjoy this game. Garbage.

Oddly perplexing. The excitement starts at the beginning of the download to the game. You tap on it, and discover all the prizes and specialties within the game as you go along. But then the excitement stops when you realize after every game of Tetris, you have to go to the home page, then go and start another game, which means you have to watch adds over and over again. Enjoying Tetris? They ask after my 2nd day of playing this annoyingly perplexing game but I end up responding with a 3 star rating. Before you download the game, you want to understand the truth that is actually on it. With Tetris, where does one begin? Enter this world of confusion and you will be left with nothing but irritation and frustration. If you're hoping for the REAL style of the game, get something other than this app.

Very good. Originally this wasn’t that good of a Tetris app. It only had marathon, it didn’t save your game and there was an advertisement before every game. With the new update (I don’t know how new it is,) it’s great. A battle royale mode to see who can survive the longest, daily events with cash prizes and the ability to save your marathon games (that was a different update I think). Now that you can win prizes, I don’t see the advertisements as too much of a problem, since you know that some of the money from ads is given back to the players. The controls are hard to get used to from a keyboard or controller, but after a few hours they feel good. I would recommend this game to anyone who has ever played a Tetris game.

Pure trash. Today I was playing and all of a sudden, an ad popped in the middle of my game, as the pieces kept piling up in the background. That’s how much they don’t care about the actual game. Not only does it become clunky and laggy (even on a 14 Pro) as you progress, it is now literally unplayable. These developers took a great brand and ruined it. They are burning the Tetris name it in the trash for cheap ad money.

Awful Representation of Tetris. This app not only is infested with advertisements, but also forces you to start the game from level 1, rather then letting you choose. Many people find starting at level 1 tedious and would prefer to start at a higher one. It also rumbles whenever you attempt to move your tetromino, which gets annoying fast. Another unpleasant feature of the app is that it takes an unnecessary amount of effort to get your tetromino to hard drop. Rather than a swift flick down you must go slowly or is does not work. Very annoying when you are going at fast speeds, and in general. The EA app was 1000x better, consider taking ideas from that gem.

Ruined a Simple Pleasure. Used to be an easy to play, fast, challenging and fun time waster. Now, stuffed with ads THAT CANNOT BE SKIPPED after EVERY game. Blocks are not as responsive or precise on my new iPhone 12 mini as on my late great 5 - feel cheated during games. Also, shapes do not rotate predictably. Ruined it: no longer satisfying and, though free, NO LONGER WORTH THE SPACE on my phone. (Will not PAY for a time waster app, btw.)

Royal is somewhat broke. *update December 2022: since the last update control has gotten sticky. Too many times when I try to place tetrimo from reserve, it sticks for a sec and next thing I know it’s hard placed straight down. Very frustrating. Below original review. I don’t really have problem with the Ads or the Boosters (a.k.a. Pay-to-Win); the devs got to make a living, and this was a free download. Sure, the inability to play, even solo, without internet connection is sometimes inconvenient, but I can live with it. What drives me nuts is in Royal, I get two, or even three, attackers randomly. When that happens, there really isn’t much you can do, as the clean field is pretty much filled up with just one Tetrimo placement. It has nothing to do with your skills in playing Tetris, just bad luck! Ridiculous and, IMO, game breaking. I wish the devs would make it so that you only get one attacker stacking you garbage at a time. Otherwise I enjoy it.

Love it but can’t continue like this. Way too many ads. The premium should be a one shot deal, 5 or 6 bucks for an ad free experience in perpetuity. Great take on the game but awful execution. I really enjoyed EA’s version of this game however I understand their contract ran out and it was time for a new developer. This game is a great take on Tetris however the controls are very sloppy and sluggish. It feels like every now and then a piece just slips and goes exactly where I didn’t want it to go. With this, the game becomes almost unplayable after so many levels, I’ve gotten to level 20 but it just becomes unbearably fast to the point where I don’t have time to execute how I want the piece to move. This begins around level 11-12. The ui is extremely small which doesn’t help. They could’ve easily increased the play area, especially the pause button. It’s extremely small and sometimes you have to hit it two to three times before the game registers that you want to pause the game. All the whole pieces fall and go whoever because you’re not paying attention trying to pause the game. Please fix this in future updates I’d like to continue playing but it’s annoying and frustrating when compared to the ea version.

Straightforward, classic Tetris gameplay with no strings attached. However, since the most recent update, the developers have decided to take an active leap backwards by including advertisements not in the initial release, and a weekly (WEEKLY!) five dollar subscription for the “convenience” of playing without the ads.l they decided to include post-release. I understand that the mobile gaming market has become a cutthroat enterprise, where those who throw their hat into this ring are going to want a guaranteed return on their investment, but surely there were other ways to consider monetizing this product before settling on one of the most scummy, deplorable business models on the mobile platform. As a matter of principle, I will be deleting this game from my phone and I will not touch another product developed by this company.

Holy Ads and Spam! Can’t even pay to remove. Update: Now they have already sold my email address to MGM and several travel companies. How does Apple allow blatant spam like this? It’s Tetris. This is a fine implementation of it. And it’s the only way to play Tetris on your iOS device now. But I just deleted my account out of frustration because there are just too many immersion-breaking ads. You also earn in-game currency for coupons on real life flights and travel and weird scammy stuff like that. I’d love to play this game. I wish I could pay to remove the ads and just enjoy Tetris. But instead you have the terrible ads that play full screen videos that take several minutes to endure and then make you play a game demo and then open the App Store to download another spammy app. It takes so long to progress through the ads I usually just get frustrated and stop playing. The levels are so easy that you will finish it in a minute and then endure 3-4 mins of ads. So instead I’m deleting the game which makes me so sad. I’ll just play Tetris Effect on my Switch instead.

What???. Maybe I should’ve reviewed the original version a few months ago. I don’t make a habit out of writing reviews but maybe if I had it would’ve prevented these weird changes. Before it was a very simple and easy to play version of Tetris. Easy to understand. You opened the app and you could play Tetris. Honestly, that’s all I needed and I was perfectly satisfied with it. Sure, sometimes it crashed and sometimes the ads would randomly play with volume when my phone volume is off and I’m in a public place, but it was solid. Now you’ve gone and added all these modes. Not only that, but you’ve prioritized them over regular Tetris. Now I have to actively search for the option to play single player Tetris. I’ve never met anyone in my life who has thought “you know what? I could really go for a battle royale version of Tetris.” All of this extra stuff bogs down the functionality of the app, it runs slower, takes longer to open and bothers me about tournaments that I don’t care for. I just wanted some good old-fashioned Tetris. I’m sorry to be harsh but I miss the old version of the app a lot.

Disappointing and frustrating updates. I have been playing Tetris using this app for sometime now and I am honestly disappointed and frustrated with some of the additions. The most ridiculous feature they decided to add was actual the no ads feature, because it’s $2.99 for a month of no ads. The power ups for royales seem like a cash grab because earning coins to buy power ups seems near impossible. The chests, presumably where you’re supposed to earn coins to buy power ups, mostly spit out tickets and so if someone really wanted power ups, it’d more worth their time to throw money in to buy coins. The royale feature can be fun but it’s overall turned them game into seeming like a cash grab. Along with all those frustrations, the past two weeks or so, unless I am opening the app from a notification for prime time, the app takes longer to load than any other app on my phone, especially if I am loading it up without internet connection. I should not have to wait over three minutes for Tetris to fail to load on my phone when I’m trying to play offline.

Am I missing something?. I’ve been playing this game for a few days now and I’m in the upper 200 levels. I love Tetris but I feel like this game lacks the explosions during game play as it has once you complete a level. Also is there a reward limit ? I can only win maybe 1000 loyal rewards a day or so it seems. And I feel when you go up levels you should be rewarded with the Tetris points . I get 20 here or maybe 30 sometimes which seems very insignificant when you reach maybe 400 or 500 levels. I hope that is not the case. This game truly does deserve a 5 but it lacks motivation to want to continue playing at times. Between the game continue ads , no real reward for winning levels and the same Tetris board …it can be boring. When I say explosions ….I played one game during my early levels and there was a couple of rainbow Tetris in my deck. I have yet to see them again ??

Increasingly greedy. Don’t get me wrong, the game is fun and well developed. It adds a nice competitive edge to what is normally a solo game- but in the three months or so I’ve had it downloaded it’s gone through at least 10 updates, and recently those updates include having to pay to play. Just two days ago they implemented a ticket system where you get up to five tickets, each pays for one game, and you can earn a new ticket every hour (with a max of five). Today, there was a new update, and it’s one ticket per FIVE hours. Furthermore, to purchase only three tickets (for three games) its $1.00. That’s crazy to think about when a week ago it was unlimited! It went from being a fun game to get the mind flowing to something that would literally be more expensive than Netflix if I wanted to play daily. Enjoy the game but I’ll be looking for a new game app to spend my time..

Glitch or link with FB and Myrewards problems. Recently downloaded this game after I heard that you can earn rewards if you connect your FB account however that isn’t possible with my FB account. I’ve reported to customer service multiple times and still the problem isn’t resolved. At least on my account there is no MyRewards available on the Home Screen. I’ve disconnected and played as guest and it appears there, then when I reconnect my FB the screen defaults to one without MyRewards. I’ve logged in on as my Apple ID and that appears to work however all the points I have are linked to my FB account so it doesn’t matter how many points I get on my Apple ID because I won’t be able to redeem it anyway in real life. I already my my ID linked with my FB so I won’t be able to use Apple ID rewards as it is a separate account. The Tetris aspect of the game is fun though and I really enjoy playing it. I’ve reached level 100 already in two days. Kinda wish there wasn’t ads but apps gotta make money one way or another so it’s fine.

Best Day ever. Help I accidentally bought infinite tickets with my Tetris coins! Other than that its a great game.. Please restore my in game coin purchase, I saved up so much trying to get season pass. I haven’t used my infinite tickets for 24 hours at all. I had 200 tickets before this. Please, make it harder for mistakes like that to happen and please restore the ticket thing so I can have my 600 Tetris coins back. Maybe there could be a safety feature where it will ask, are you sure you want to buy this and that kind of stuff, and there should be a return ability, where if you havent used your item that you bought, you can return it, if you used it, you maybe could still return it but for 50% or something. Other than that drama, it’s a great game! The mystery boxes are amazing, and all, and I like that you can buy the premium version (Tetris Pass) with in game money, which is what I was saving those coins for.

I wish there was an option to play with no time limit.. I have PTSD and it’s really not conducive to my healing to have any relaxing experience have a level of panic to it, even if it’s really minor. I realized while I was playing that the urgency was bothering me a lot, and causing my psychosomatic symptoms to hike up a little. Would be nice if there was an option for free play, where you have a pause every now and again for an ad, but you can just play without a timer counting down how much time you have left. Otherwise awesome app. Very relaxing and helps me train problem solving. I don’t mind the ads — they aren’t as intrusive as some apps. They’re just a necessary con when you want to play a free game that has good graphics. Don’t understand why everyone is complaining. How are the developers supposed to be paid for their app at all if there aren’t ads? Smh.

Jesus H touch controls. Touch control do not work for a precision puzzle game like this. Add or subtract sensitivity you want, there will a moment where at a critical moment your piece will just drop for no reason and end your run. Of course there are ok screen controls but someone made the terrible decision for having it just be a d-pad set up where hard dropping a piece is up. UP ON A D-PAD TO DROP A PIECE. Do you not understand basic human nature? Now this a mobile version I understand, if the control were just a little finicky, I’d be able to accept. But this is mobile Tetris so there’s all the terrible trapping you’d expect from games as a serve BS. Annoying ads, terrible UI, pointless gates to gameplay modes, and somehow they messed up the Tetris music and I can find no way to change it. If you’re gonna put a pointless currency in this game at least let me grind to get a half way optimal experience. Or how about don’t and play a game who’s design doesn’t fundamentally conflict with the IPhone control scheme. TL;DR: It’s flawed from a fundamental level and all the other mobile garbage makes the experience even worse.

Not like the original. I am a fan of Tetris since it first came out. I hadn’t seen it for a long time. However, I kept searching over the years and found this App. Imagine my excitement, only to have my hopes dashed. The blocks drop so painfully that you have to drag them. Be careful! The touch is so sensitive that you end up flipping the block and then it drops so fast; into a position that you never intended. The coins are a joke. I don’t have any desire to go Vegas. So the Mandalay Bay hotel rewards are a joke. I’d rather have power ups. So, I got to Level 133 and I have to get 3500 points to win that level. That’s easy peasy, except that the screen fills up with block leaving three empty rows. The majority of the pieces are three tiers and did I mention them dropping into positions you never intended? This causes a blockout every single time you try to move in position. Seems the developers were too lazy to come up with more levels so they block you out. You’ll get frustrated and just quit the APP.

Not My Tetris. I love Tetris and I can play it for hours to pass time, but they’ve ruined this version. You use to be able to play classic Tetris and the ads weren’t even much of a bother, but now the only way to play is with people or a quick game for 3 minutes. I’ll try to keep this review short, but I’m seriously frustrated by this version of Tetris. I just want to sit back and play a game of Tetris to burn time and see how long I can last. Now my only options are a 3 minute snore-fest to see how much score I can work up by the time it’s up, and cluster **** 100 player mode that is anything but satisfying. I just want my Tetris back. I don’t want a game that’s begging me to hand it cash every now and then. I would be willing to pay one flat price for a mobile Tetris game on my phone but the only official option I have is an ad-infested, money-milking, piece of crap that’s not worth my time anymore. Not my thing to write reviews, but this was the only game I cared to have on my phone and now I’ve been brought to the decision to delete it.

Meditative and Fun. I haven’t played Tetris since the mid 90’s, when my boys were kids. I’m almost 59 years old now and I haven’t played it in maybe 25 years. My wife and I watched the new Tetris movie last night on Netflix and it blew my mind! I downloaded it on my iPhone after the movie and I was shocked at how slowly the puzzle pieces drop in the early rounds but, as I played, I found my residual, low-level anxiety was gone. It was a Friday night, so I was exhausted from a long work week and was struggling to stay awake for both the movie and the pieces to drop. I found myself closing my eyes a bit while waiting for the pieces to drop and trying to open them in time to make the next decision and, oh the sweet peace while waiting. The music is both strangely invigorating and calming at the same time. I just completed level 3 after failing 3 times. I will be recommending this game to friends who suffer with chronic anxiety.

Solo Issue. So far, I am enjoying this version of Tetris after coming from the EA version, but I have one big issue. I strictly play the solo mode, because I just like it simple. The controls are good, the different themes are good (love 8-bit the most), the score system is good, but the main issue is the Save & Quit. I don’t know if anyone else has this problem, but anytime I save and quit, it never saves. Whether I force quit the app or save and return to the menu and then continuing the game without closing the app at all, the game does not save. When I reopen the app, there is a screen asking if I want to continue or start a new game and when I click continue, it either crashes, or loads an app before continuing. Either way, it puts me back at level 1. Every 1 out of 100 times, it will continue where I left off, but mostly, I have to start over. If this one issue is taken care of, I would have no other gripe, because I enjoy this take on the original Tetris.

The main mode's heavy gamification might not sit well with purists who prefer the simplicity of classic Tetris. The true essence of the game seems hidden under layers of unnecessary features, making it less appealing for those seeking a traditional Tetris experience. Fortunately, the old-school Tetris can still be enjoyed through the Marathon mode, providing a glimpse of what made the game timeless. The new game is great just missing something. I came from the EA Tetris just like most players. I’m not to thrilled about the new version but I’m not going to complain. The old version was great you had multiple single player modes and I wish you added more single player modes in this version. Another thing is the menu screen I don’t like it I have some random guy telling me I can play Tetris for money I think there should be a multiplayer menu so I didn’t have to listen to him whenever I open the app. The final thing I have to say is the new music and themes i hope you add the original Tetris background and shape colors back along with the music so whenever you select the original or whatever you call it it will play the original theme when you I start a game. Other than that this new version holds a lot of potential and I feel like you missed the chance to improve it and get a lot of new players who didn’t play the old version. That’s all I have to say have a good day.

Money Sink As Usual. As is standard for mobile games now, this one is a perpetually milked cash cow that's artificially pumped full of ads that you can only escape by throwing more money at them every month. If you think the studio needs so much revenue that it justifies an ad before every single game, then you've been fooled. PlayStudios isn't interested in enhancing the one thing that would actually make the Tetris mobile app bearable by getting rid of the adwall. Not only are they gatekeeping a puzzle concept (good luck finding a decent substitute), but they're making it so that you can't actually just play the way you want to without wasting your time looking at lengthy garbage advertisements for other garbage games, or paying out of pocket every month to avoid them. You either have to be obsessed with the game to earn enough coins, or you need to shell out bucks. I hope this microtransaction bubble bursts once and for all relatively soon because most games have become entirely unplayable due to how grubby the developers get.

Great game. I love playing this game it is my favorite app on the store. There’s just some things that kinda annoy me. So when I’m playing Tetris royale and I’m under pressure right, then I try to reach the hold button to get the other Tetrimino but I miss and that makes me Hera misplaced block, so I say “oh it’s just one” but then I get super unlucky and get blocks I don’t want at all 😂 and get even more misplaced blocks and end up losing. If I didn’t miss the hold button I probably would’ve lasted longer. I just really want an option to make some buttons bigger. Right now I’m playing on IPhone 11 Pro and it’s kinda small because I saw a review that they had the pro Max which is bigger so mine is smaller so it’s harder. Anyways, I’d love if there was a option to make certain buttons make bigger. Thanks for reading this. Other than that the ads are a tad bit annoying but nothing too bad.

Annoying for adults, worrisome for parents.. All in all, the gameplay is what you’d expect or hope for. My issue is the amount of ads pushed through this game. I want to clarify I understand this is how creators create revenue for the work they put into coding and producing the game. My issue is that it’s every. click. For example, if you’d like to start a new game, ad. Finishing a game? Ad. Click on rewards you’ve earned via gameplay? Ad. If you think you can simply close the app & reopen, still more advertisements. They give you an exit and it opens up another ad. I’ve played several different games similar and this is the most obnoxious one in its class. The issue that worry’s me is if I try to introduce my son to the games I used to play when I was a kid, I have to monitor him just to make sure he isn’t purchasing everything and anything that pops up on the screen. I know this review won’t change the way they blast advertising however I’d like to let you guys & girls know so you can consider this before downloading.

No Royale & Quick Mode on iOS. Fun game of course, ads can be annoying but I get it. Not a huge fan of the VIP points deal, it makes it feel like I’m playing a scam app or something from a casino instead of the official Tetris app. What bothers me the MOST though is that on iOS, you can’t play Royale or quick mode despite both being listed in the instruction guide. Royale is a great way to learn how to improve your game and I’m really bummed that this feature is blocked on iOS. I get they can’t really fit 10 other boards in a phone screen and still have them legible but they could definitely fit at least 2-3 for a mobile Royale mode. Would switch to the techmino app for these features but it is “no longer available in my country,” apparently, and I would not be surprised if this app’s legal team contributed to that removal. Frustrating that this team has decided to focus on wringing every last penny out of this classic game instead of making it enjoyable to its users and paying homage to its origins.

absolute disaster. i don’t write reviews, and yet i’m here. this should explain how frustrated i am with this version. i used the EA version for years, and loved it. bought the ad free version happily for a few bucks. that version is now unplayable, completely wasting the money i paid for that version. downloaded this one, hoping maybe i could carry over my ad purchase, only to find you have to pay BY THE WEEK to get rid of ads. absolutely INSANE pricing. i dig the visuals and it’s snappier, if laggier and slower to load. i liked the battle royale mode, before again finding that it is absolutely ridiculously pay-to-win. no matter how well you do, someone who guys powerups with real world money is just going to obliterate. just a disgusting level of monetization here. 2 stars for the effort put into the presentation. overwhelming updates that make the game slower, some of the worst monetization i’ve ever seen, and downright unfair gameplay made me uninstall. stay far, far away from this. break out the old gameboy instead.

Awful mobile experience. The touch controls for this game are so awful that you might as well be playing the classic Tetris. None of the new Tetris things work. The difference is that this Tetris is full of ads and has Millend Baird constantly telling you about the Tetris competitions going on. I do not understand why any competitive Tetris player would be playing mobile. Tetris would probably control really well with a keyboard and mouse, though for all I know the pc port of Tetris could be completely awful, too. This game isn’t completely terrible, but I think it deserves no more than 3 stars. Tetris on its own is good, so all of the extra stuff here does nothing to improve it. It all makes sense for a pc game, but not on mobile. I feel like most mobile users would prefer to just buy Tetris for 1 or 2 dollars and play normal Tetris without interruptions. The online stuff should stay but it shouldn’t be shoved in the faces of people who just want to play the regular game. Overall, you need to learn a lot from Tetris for the Gameboy.

Good game with a few very annoying features. I want to love this game. Obviously the classic Marathon mode is amazing, and the challenges are pretty fun to whip through, but there are a few things that are infuriating with this game: 1. The offline mode is terrible. Sometimes it works but it only allows you to play Marathon mode. Most of the time, though, it continuously tries to connect you to the internet even though you’re playing in offline mode. This causes a pop-up every 10 seconds are so saying that it couldn’t connect, making the Marathon mode pretty much unplayable. Is it too much to ask to be able to play Tetris on my phone on an airplane? It’s literally the reason I first downloaded the game. 2. I cannot find anyway to go back and re-play the Levels. A few times I’ve only gotten 2 stars on a level and I would love to go back and get 3 stars across the board but it doesn’t give an option to play old levels. 3. Some of the higher levels legit don’t give you enough blocks to clear enough lines to pass the level. I’ve cleared whatever obstacle is setup at the beginning so at that point I’m just playing normal Tetris and I have 3 lines to clear and only 1.5 lines built up by the time I run out of blocks… so the game is basically forcing you to use your coins to progress at the higher levels, which is just lazy level design.

Ruined it with the tickets, please change it back. I really loved this game, one of the two games I have on my phone. I loved primetime, even knowing I’d never be good enough to do very well. When the first royale mode was around I was definitely much happier than the second, as it was just easier for me personally. But it wasn’t a big deal, I was still happy playing the game. The ads were annoying but manageable, although still quite often. I opened the app today so see the ticketing system and I am disappointed enough to be writing this review. Highly considering deleting the app altogether after finding out that I can’t even play solo games without spending a ticket. To the developers: You had an amazing game, and you’ve ruined it for a lot of people simply by putting this ticket system in place. I realize that these reviews likely won’t do anything but it really is a shame. You make enough money off of your ads, I’m sure, get rid of the ticket system. This used to be a very calming game for me that I enjoyed, I am sad to see that it can no longer be a game I play regularly.

Mobile Tetris 99 for real this time. The updates for this app in the past have been a mixed bag for me. Previous versions have paywalled what was once free content, added unnecessary fluff that at best did nothing useful and at worst sapped your battery. Several updates ago, a mode was added where you would supposedly face off against a hundred other players in a Tetris 99-esque battle royale, but without any trash lines it had no functional difference from single player with an arbitrary point where it tells you you won. However, this time was different. The addition of trash lines makes this a wonderful competitive Tetris experience. The only thing separating this from Tetris 99 is the lack of a targeting system, but that is largely unimportant at the end of the day. In fact, the many music options let this truly rival Tetris 99, something I never thought I'd say about the iOS Tetris. Worth a play if you like Tetris, great pleb stomping for higher level players too.

You ruined Tetris with greed. The games amazing, but now you only get to play five games then you have to wait like in Candy Crush. Before there were never tickets, you just paid for ad free and played to your heart’s content, I know I was there. The contests are cool, the online mode is entertaining, but now you can’t even play all you want like before and now you have to pay to get rid of ads AGAIN AND NOW ONLY TEMPORARILY!!! This has got to be the worst strategy ever for a game since it wasn’t done from initial release. I can’t enjoy it anymore, and I’m not wasting more money on it for tickets for the entertainment I had for the original price that I had already paid in the past! If you guys are so hung up on trying to monetize Tetris then design some cosmetic level styles and sell those, keep the old styles free, make different ones, and charge like 1.99 for each cosmetic. Not charge individuals who’ve had it for long while and already paid before just to pay again just to simply play now. This is totally unethical and as someone who loved this app, I am not supporting it any longer.

Fun but ruins game for skilled players. I love Tetris and have played it for a few years now and have gotten pretty decent at the game. I’ve gotten first in royal a few times and most of the time place top 10. Primetime I typical get within the top 500 globally and top 5 in my own region. My issue with this game is the power up system. The fact that they cost money and people can just buy them totally ruins the game for people who are actually good at the game. Because someone could buy like 50 of each if they really wanted and constantly send garbage to other players while getting rid of their own. And it makes it extremely frustrating and it kind of takes the fun challenge away from the competition. To me it’s become a pay-to-win game rather than a skill based game where you actually have to be good to do well. The rest of the game is really fun, just not a fan of the power ups. If you wanted to get money, I’d be a fan of seeing more backgrounds and icons for purchase instead.

Ads cause issues. The game looks nice and the controls are okay (sometimes they don’t react the way I want them to and cause me to misplace tetriminos). It’s a bit annoying that the default mode and the one that is displayed on the title screen is the 3-minute timed mode, I feel like endless mode should be on the title screen alongside it since it is the original mode. What irritates me the most about this app would be the ads though. An ad will play every time you start a game, which is a bit annoying on its own, but what’s worse is that after the ad is finished playing there is about a 30% chance of the app just freezing on a dimmed screen with no way to continue other than restarting the app. When this happens, if I’ve selected to resume a game, after I restart the app and go back in the option to resume my last saved game disappears and I am forced to restart and lose all of my progress. The game is alright but this bug needs fixing.

You can play Tetris.. This is a incredibly lame version on the Tetris. Why is the game screen so small? Why can’t I turn off the ghost piece? Why isn’t there a normal Tetris game screen? I don’t want 5 different skins that each look worst than that last. I had to get this one because EA is canceling they’re iphone Tetris game. (I bought it but I get I was only renting it! Yay capitalism!) serious the making should actually look at the screen you have to play the game on, it’s so small it’s a masters class on how to waste screen space. If you need to play Tetris this is your only option, a weak, lame version of a classic that can’t hold a candle to the EA made one. Who knows tho, maybe one of the Devs will start losing their eye sight and realize that there’s l a lot of screen space that they could use and that lame re-skins don’t add anything to the game.

Why 92 days. I've been playing Tetris for almost a year now, and the seasons have always been 30 days, (1 month) long. As of November, they decided to make a three-month-long season. And they are using a recycled theme. Why? I guess they are just too lazy to have some creativity. But it's not so much that as the ads. They offer a 30-day no-ad pass for 1000 coins, or you can just buy it for 5$. You can only buy one pass per season, as far as I know, so if they kept it like that, 30 days of ad-free play and 60 of ad play, is not worth it. Mine and most of the teams, at least the top 20-30 have decided to boycott the ads you can choose to watch and win free prizes from, and if we get to 60 day and we have to watch ads before and after every play, we might just boycott Tetris as a whole. We have written reviews and seen no change. Please have some respect for the people playing your game.

The five star reviews are wrong. Everytime a match ends you have to go through an ad: not just an ad that you immediately close, but often you need to tap the close button two or three times before you can get back to the game. You need an internet connection to play the game so that it can show you the ads, so tough luck if you are in a location without service: the idea that you need the Internet to play a game that existed before the Internet is outrageous. You also cannot outright pay to get rid of the ads: you need to spend money to get rid of ads FOR A LIMITED TIME ONLY. Once that time is up, you’ll need to pay again if you want to keep your ad free experience. It’s no wonder that this app is made by EA. Also, the app crashes frequently and you’ll have to start over every time it crashes (and watch another ad). Unpausing pausing/unpausing is horrendous: sometimes unpausing will automatically slam the block in the air downwards. The game itself is still fun though, which is why it’s 2 stars instead of 1.

The absolute worst version of Tetris. I played the EA Tetris app all the time and was completely addicted. I cannot adjust to this version. It’s absolutely terrible. I cannot maneuver the tetrominoes. They will not slide under an overhang. There’s no way to complete a T-spin. Since the pieces are translucent, it’s very hard to envision the different places where they are going to drop. I really miss having solid pieces. I just hate everything about this app, not the least of which is all the stupid awards and crap that junk up the game. I want clean, classic Tetris. Why can’t there be a clean version of Tetris for mobile? I tried this a couple years ago when it came out but I just couldn’t adjust to it. But I miss Tetris so much, so I decided to try again. I’m a good Tetris player. I could score over 2 million points in the EA game. It shouldn’t be so hard to figure this out. I had paid for premium with EA, and I would gladly pay a lot for an ad-free version, but this game is unplayable. It really makes me sad. I really want to play Tetris. They could not have more thoroughly ruined this game.

Fun, but infuriating.. PLEASE stop adding new sweepstakes while removing gameplay!!!! Ever since the newer updates, the game is borderline unplayable. Some of my favorite game modes are now completely inaccessible, the Teams feature is locked away, there is no way to spend any of my coins or even see how many I have anymore, so what is the point of having them? Why is there still a tab for my cosmetics if I can’t purchase any to equip anymore? If you made Royale and Quick Play inaccessible now, why are there still so many references to these game modes in the app??? Levels are SO boring, and Marathon mode is the only good thing left, but it’s hidden away behind the tiniest button on the Home Screen! Why!!!! Why are you doing this!!!! If you were going to change or update these features like the new teams page suggests, why remove them at all!!! Just wait until you’re ready to release them and update them then!! I just miss being able to play Tetris :((

Ad saturated, lazy, pointless progression. Way, way, WAY too many ads, and they last too long. This game screams “made by lazy, uninspired, greedy developers.” The classic game is there, but it doesn’t feel like it rewards you anything to play it. The default level mode is way too easy, and after 85 levels, it still feels lame, never a challenge. The occasional “boss” levels are a big difference, and are decently challenging, but if you fail it just feels like an excuse to force people into watching more ads. The rest of the presentation is dull and feels empty. There’s a place for themes or avatar / profile picture frames and backgrounds in the “collect” tab but there’s no way to obtain any more than what you start with. The ONLY use for all the coins you collect is to continue a level if you failed to reach its goal. Cannot buy themes, cannot but profile pictures cannot buy backgrounds. The only place where you can show off your profile is a leaderboard for the marathon mode. Also the weird coupon VIP points feels really scummy and awkward. Like why is my Tetris game giving me discounts to casinos and hotels in Vegas?!?

THIS IS THE WORST GARBAGE I HAVE EVER SEEN. Wow. A shocking example of corporate grubbing for money. Terrible, terrible, and terrible. I love Tetris, but this is a disgrace. Stupid boosters and power-ups like candy crush, 25 second long ads, and worst of all, they don’t even have the original game!! You can’t. Even. Play. Infinite. Tetris. Omg. That is literally what the game is!!! So instead, you can play a round with a 3-minute limit where you have to get a good score, or a glitchy, laggy, insanely difficult “100 person Tetris royale”, which isn’t even remotely fun. The controls are garbage. Drag an item to one side? Well, if your finger slides just a little bit over, the piece will move across 3 columns. Once, when I was testing out the horrid 100 person royale, I dragged a piece down to place it faster. When it landed, it glitched over to the other side of the game, ruining the layout, which was suddenly followed by three gray rows suddenly being randomly added, which happens erratically with no pattern or signal in sight. Just terrible. IF YOU ARE SEEING THIS, AND THINK THAT IT’S NOT SO BAD, PLEASE, I BEG YOU, DO. NOT. DOWNLOAD. THIS. GAME!

Ad overload. I’ve always played some form of Tetris ever since I was introduced to the game. I think this app is awesome, but OH MY you can’t do anything without having to watch an ad. Completed a level? Ad. Want to play marathon? Ad. Want to change a setting? Ad. It’s the most obnoxious thing in the world. I feel like I’m playing a game you see on the ads of FaceBook. I seriously had to go check and make sure this was a legit version of Tetris after playing a few levels. There is an ad “buyout” but it’s a reoccurring charge of $2.99 a month. Either make it no ads ever for $0.99 or significantly reduce the number of ads. I play one level then immediately close the app because I can’t stand having to sit through 30 seconds of ads after completing a level in 30-60 seconds. All the good games have turned into sellouts. I can’t necessarily blame them because money talks but it seems like you’d want your consumers spend more time on the app rather than bombarding them with ads every other 30 seconds and forcing them to close out the app.

Would be perfect with a few tweaks. 1. The controls are very comfortable, almost TOO comfortable. Too often a tetrimino blasts down to the bottom when I was just trying to slide it to the side. And tapping to change directions is a bit awkward, you tap different sides of the screen to turn in different directions, but this is never explained. Solution: refine the slide, maybe make an area on screen dedicated to slide (to the left of the play area maybe?) and maybe have the bottom 1/4ths of the screen flash when you go to spin, showing the arrow in which it will turn. 2. The play modes are lacking a bit. I want to be able to configure a few settings, such as speed. I also wouldn’t mind a single player zen mode like the one in multiplayer. But I know Tetris is usually against this mode. Solution: new game modes, different royale modes (maybe a tiered online mode where you face off 1:1 sending garbage back and forth until you have only the two best players competing) 3. No tutorial. If you navigate to settings you can get a VERY in depth explanation, but nothing teaches gameplay better than hands on tutorial experience. Solution: have a quick tutorial mode to showcase the controls and introduce tetriminos. - - - Besides this, I am massively addicted to this game. My husband knows not to disturb me during primetime lol.

This game crashes all the time, especially just as you are about to join a game. If you want a nostalgic tetris game that reminds you of your youth this is perfect, as it has all the bugs you would come to expect to have just like your old cartridge did in your NES. Be prepared as you are rejoiced to see there is friendly competiton only to be thwarted with ticket/tokens to play against other live players but beware as the game will randomly disconnect you just as you are patiently waiting for the lobby to fill up and the countdown is initiated. Then BAMM you are booted out and lose a your chance to play... Now this has happened to me on more than just a few occasions while looking forward to Primetime and preparing myself too, I am rewarded with an ejection just as Millan Beard is saying “primetime starts now” I used to enjoy this game before the ads were pushed and I am not sure if the game is lost in translation but I fear I may not rejoin this worldwide epic saga of tetris, for the game is just like any other over crowded app with not enough bandwidth to handle. I will say it was fun while it lasted.

False advertisement and a lot of disappointment. I got this app as it was the “OG” Tetris app. On here it says that it has multiple game modes and in the video you can see different themes. I’ve been playing for a while now, I got to level 350 something, and thought I just had to unlock these features. However I have come to learn that these features are no longer in the game. Even though it is advertised here, on the App Store, and in game when you click “How To Play”. These feature were in fact in the game but after an update were taken out for some reason and that new players that downloaded the game after the update, such as myself, don’t get them. I don’t understand and it is really frustrating to learn that what made this game so special and fun was taken out. But it’s even more so disappointing that this app hasn’t updated anything to accommodate this update and new players are given false information about the game. If you are going to update the game in such major ways, update the games information on App Store and in-game.

What are the coins for?. The levels are interesting. It feels pointless to earn coins or watch any ads when there is nothing to spend coins on. Its also frustrating to only have two skins available. The basic Tetris game play is there and its great b cause its Tetris. The app itself feels unsupported by any originality. Even basic options like achievements, badges, original avatars, skins for the blocks and backgrounds are non existent. If you want real revenue from ads, give us a reason to watch them. Otherwise I’ll just keep closing the app after each level and come back to start the next level, add free. Or maybe just get rid of coins entirely if you aren't going to give us anything to spend them on. Making us pay to skip ads for a set period of time would be smarter. It just feels like a lot of disjointed pieces that haven't come together as a functional or profitable game beyond the basic gameplay that will always be worthwhile: Tetris itself. At least the leaderboard does feel like a classic arcade. Props to that.

Great! But…Fullscreen Please!!. This is such a great game on so many levels and brings back those memories from back in the day and I love how I can participate in certain events without having to spend actual money so I can really enjoy the challenge of collecting coins to be able to participate in the next event. However, if there was one thing I could please request that could make this game really next level is the option to have the area of game play fullscreen or at least take advantage of my screen size! Gone are the days when I played on a tiny little screen and now with such larger screen sizes why is my playing area still small and centered? I like the graphics and artwork along side the playing area but it would just be so gorgeous to have almost my whole screen to be able to swipe across to play. So please please please include this in a future up date if it is at all possible 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Improved from the previous version!. This still has some work to do to match the now-discontinued EA version of the game, but at least now it’s presented in a way that makes me want to play a round or two in my spare time. Gone are the nightly tournaments (thank goodness for that) that made what is supposed to be the casual gamer’s holy grail a stressful experience. Instead we now have the Adventure mode the way I want to play it (holding pieces is for sissies!), and Marathon lets you save midgame and come back later if you get interrupted which I view as welcome. I would still like to see one-touch piece placement like EA had, and I’m noticing that sometimes a rotation doesn’t register and a piece subsequently doesn’t go where I intend it to. But I’m not a serious player so these are minor quibbles at best. It’s not a five-star game — EA’s adaptation was the pinnacle — but it’s close and doesn’t feel like it’s ruined by trying to be a game show for 15 minutes a night anymore. Recommended!

I'm obsessed. Hi i'm teen and i've been playing tetris for probably a month and a half i've played 750 levels but they said they ran out so this is basically my plea to get more levels soon cause i don't know how long i can go without it. But for the real review i love tetris, i love the puzzle solving, if you get it i would suggest paying for no ads, i went probably a month with ads and it probably would have put this review at 3 or 4 stars for me, so if that's not something you're interested in purchasing every month this may not be for you. Aside from that i've maxed out the game and on average spend 2 hours a day playing tetris so if you're looking for a fun game to play while watching tv this is FOR YOU. Plus, If you play tetris with 24 hours of a traumatic event it significantly reduces your likelihood to traumatic flashbacks/ptsd.

Battle Royale now unplayable. One of the few game modes I liked in Tetris was battle royale mode you play against up to 100 people and you play till your the last person standing, nice and easy. Then to spice things up another player could sabotage by sending garbage your way and like wise as you clear more lines and more combos you send garbage to your foes, a nice change. But now they added power ups. Now this is what breaks things. normally you can buy power ups with coins you earn in game. Cool and all, but what if you pay cash money for it. You get tons more of the power ups. One of the power up cos the ability to toss 2 or 3 lines to your opponent and you have to either clear it away quickly or use. Shield or row remover power up. And there is no cool down so you can toss 3 or 4 power ups and can blockout someone with in seconds. And you see how your opponents screen looks you can tell they was using them and not attacking with skill. Now I understand they need to make money. I just wish there was other ways......

Good App. The closest thIng Tetris Friends in my opinion. I wish there were more game modes like Tetris Friends on this app such as Battle 2 & 6 player and Arena, where you could play people online but in a smaller setting. Playing on a mobile device is an adjustment for me, I can still play good but my speed isn’t what it could be if I played on a computer. I wish I was able to play this on my computer (non Apple) though so I could use my keyboard instead and my battery life would last longer than my mobile device. I’m a bit in the middle with the ticket system. I like that once you use all your tickets it forces you to take a break from the app and wait if you exclusively play royale. The downside side is that avid Tetris players just want to play and not have to wait 30 minutes to get one ticket to play people again after using up all 5 in one sitting (I hope I am playing real people).

Do you like ads?. I get it. The company has to make money somehow, but cmon! Playing up to 30 second ads every single time you start a new game? And of course those ads are annoying to listen to and irritating to watch. I’m not the best Tetris player out there, but I enjoy the game. My games end up being a bit short because I’m just not very good at it. I don’t like having to sit through an ad every time I start a new game. No one does. I have zero patience for it. I thought I might enjoy this app but after the first few games I just quit. If I had to pay a couple bucks outright to buy this app, I’d be okay with that. But instead I have to deal with constant ads. Yes, you can technically play this game offline. You get one single marathon mode with no options, but seemingly no ads. I don’t think it’s reasonable to have to put my device in airplane mode just to have a good experience. It’s ridiculous. The game itself is okay. I’m personally not a huge fan of the sound effects, but feedback is okay and it seems to control alright. I didn’t bother playing anything other than the marathon and timed modes. Also, it’s Tetris! Why are there micro transactions? How on earth did you manage to take a game like Tetris and make it pay to win? I know the version this app replaced wasn’t perfect, but it was a far better overall experience. I actually wanted to come back and play that one again. This app is just a frustrating disappointment.
