SDS-x is a drum machine that makes it easy to play drum samples and fun to make beats. SDS-x is also extremely feature rich, with advanced controls for crafting your sound and building complex sequences. Whether this is your first iOS music app or you are an avid AUv3 enthusiast, SDS-x has something for you.
SDS-x can be played by tapping the pads or by using the sequencer to program a beat.

Features:
Sequencer
- Make a beat using the intuitive, sixteen-step sequencer.
- Add variation with “per step” controls for velocity and note multiplier.
- Get the feel right with swing and quantize parameters.
- Switch things up with 16 patterns per kit.
- Make a song by chaining up to 128 patterns.
- Create complex polymeters with “per track” sequence length.
Pads
- SDS-x has nine pads, each with two sample layers.
- Custom name and color for each pad.
- Per sample controls for: pitch, pan, and level.
- Per pad controls for: trigger mode, sample mode, loop, mono/poly, mute group, velocity, MIDI receive, MIDI send.
- Trigger modes: one-shot, gate, toggle, and retrigger 8th to 64th triplet.
- Sample modes: mix, rotate, random, velocity switch, velocity mix.
- Global velocity modes: top, center, fixed, pressure.
Samples
- SDS-x comes fully loaded with nearly 200 samples, recorded and edited by Simple Drum Samples.
- Import your own sounds from the Files app to expand your sample library. (PRO)
Perform
- Control pad levels, pan, mute, solo, and effects sends with the in-app mixer.
- Five FX types: delay (send), reverb (send), high pass filter, low pass filter, and “master” effect for getting LOUD.
- Full screen pads mode for improved experience on smaller devices.
- Hard pan option for metronome to run click and samples to FOH on separate channels.

Straightforward sample play - YES!. Follow-up - it’s still awesome! Use factory samples or import your own and play them back. That’s all I was looking for. Simple good sounding filter, delay and verb. I’m all in on this one! What’s it need? Not much IMHO! I’d like to see reverse sample play (unless I missed it) and AUv3 capability so I can host it without worrying about IAA going away.
Overlooked gem. This is one of those apps where I’m surprised it doesn’t get mentioned more often. Definitely one of my favorite drum machine/sampler apps. The layout is great, the sounds are great, and actually everything is pretty great.
Great drum machine app. I think this is often overlooked and underrated drum machine. I love the sounds out of the box and the ability to control them. Everything is at your finger tips. There is quality, versatility, control over the sound, compatibility (auv3) and stability.
Incredible App for Creating. I am amazed at this apps ability to create music so quickly! The sequencer is very easy to use and if you want to play the pads it auto quantizes. So whether your an experienced beat maker or no nothing about music, you can be creating in seconds! The Ableton Link feature is 🔥. It’s the 2021 version of a drum circle where everyone can be linked and create a groove and music. This app is a must have if you’re a creative or just love music!

Wasn’t sure at first. Glad I got it.. At first I thought “do I need another drum app?” Well, 10 minutes into it I realized this is the most fun drum app out there. The great presets and simple pattern programming make it easy to get into, and the deep customization options make it a product worth learning and tinkering with. Get it, it’s useful and fun!

Excellent App. Love this app! Makes me feel like a pro drummer even though I have never sat down at a drum set. Super fun stuff.
Just Get It. More useful than it may appear at first (I was initially put off by the colorful pads, which makes it look like a toy), but I found it quite useful for the variety of drum kits it has and the available modification options. My big ask for the developer: Please bring this to macOS (desktop) for M1 Macs. My workflow involves developing rough ideas on iPad Pro, then finaling on desktop and there are no fast and easy replacements for this app. Being able to use this as an AU plugin would be a tremendous timesaver. Thanks!

Great 9 pad AU Drum App. I definitely love SDS-x, it’s clean and clear. You can see everything you need to on one screen. It’s easy to import samples and create kits. The presets are pretty good too. It’s easy to use, sounds great, and fits great into any iOS music setup. 5 stars.
Great Drum Machine!. You guys nailed it. Such a simple, intuitive workflow and most importantly for me, super high fun factor. Killer internal kits but I was quick to get my own hits and sounds imported into SDS without any issues. Man, good work on this. Loving creating with it a ton. Maybe midi learn and an amplitude envelope is in store for future updates? Can’t think of much more to add to it. Awesome!
One Small Request in an otherwise fun app. Thanks for a very good and fun to use app. Is it possible to open an init kit without any patterns selected vs deleting the ones in the default kit? Keep up the great work!
Bought this a few minutes ago…. I’m already super impressed. This is a FANTASTIC piece of design - really - it’s beautiful and useful in so many ways (especially - simplicity leads to victory) and as of right now the only thing I’m missing is a sampler included with auto slicing via transient detection. Well ok, ADSR would be nice too and ESPECIALLY 3D Touch support for phones that have it (instead of vertical “velocity” for the pads). As a last suggestion that is ultimately not as relevant since we can create kits, is, please add more acoustic kits. I actually really like a few kits here, but I’m just not an electronic guy so most of them will probably not see much use by me. Regardless, this is a fantastic AU and I will be using it a lot from now on. Thank you! Will definitely keep an eye on this dev! 🥸

Need AUV3. Great tool! I wish loading your on samples were a t bit more easy. I got the basics down but love to see that AUV3 version. A lot of people would use this in AUM. I do enjoy the simple layout. It would be nice to see a midi sequencer looper built into it with the potential to record. Just a few thoughts. Thank you, Ben
Great sounds and options, useful FX, intuitive. Citrus and Moody Blue are my favorite kits so far. Definitely enjoying this app a ton and little touches like the metronome are great bonuses. MIDI, Audiobus, import, full features and a fantastic price. Highly recommended. Using on an iPhone7 and iPad flawlessly.
works great, easy to use. Nice job. Please add more pads, perhaps via scroll or as virtual pads. Using an external controller, I really want a kit with at least 15 voices, and 30 would be great.
Beautiful sounding. Loving this bad boy great samples btw was hoping you could add adsr control or am I not seeing this ? I like that you are offering different forms of payment to use the app ie monthly sub, yearly, and outright buy. I chose the later I don’t like renting personally. I like how you make use of the full size iPads with the larger screens one feature suggestion could be different midi/sound settings around the 4 corners of each pad when in this mode think hardware kieth McMillen quneo. Definitely like the drag and drop sample support as well. Glad to see you are the hardworking type of developers thanks.
