Best app ever!. We just returned from a one week, road trip through the Grand Canyon, Arches National Park, Canyonlands National Park, and Bryce Canyon National Park. We are so glad we made the investment for the Gypsyguide app and tours. It was like having a tour guide, geologist, historian, biographer, and comedian riding along in the backseat. The driving guide and recommendations really assisted us in our travels. We did not have time to see everything, and we found the Gypsyguide’s recommendations to be very helpful. We really enjoyed learning about the parks and their history. We also really appreciated how it interacted with the GPS and told us where to turn and when. Once we went through the entrance gate into a national park prior to it opening. Since we did not get a park map, the Gypsyguide saved the day. We look forward to our next road trip with the GyPSy Guide. If you enjoy road trips, you will love this app. Highly recommend.

Best $10 I spent this entire vacation. My husband and I took a road trip through the Midwest that we barely planned out. We ended up at Yellowstone without any prior knowledge of the park or experience with visiting national parks. By chance we came across this app while trying to figure things out in a magazine, and it was the best decision we made. The tour follows where you are in the park and knows when to give you the needed information. It tells you about the park’s history, it teaches you the science required in order to understand the features in the area, it gives you anecdotes, it recommends hidden gems, it helps you navigate this huge park! It was amazing. I’ve never actually written a review before, but I felt inclined to for this one because I hoped that everyone who was visiting the park could also enjoy it. I definitely plan to check it frequently to see what other tours they add, as we were very happy with it this time around.

Arches & Canyonland NP. We recently took along the Gypsy audio trip thru both of these parks. We downloaded prior to our visit. There was no cell service or internet at the park. The narrator was always with us. A map was included to follow along, but we chose only to listen to the narrator. We just activated the audio as we came close to the park. The narrator started to tell us about the park, the history and made suggestions for photo op’s. The narrator told us when the pull off’s were coming up and what to expect. This audio trip made our adventure much more exciting. We didn’t miss a thing at the parks. If we chose not to stop, the narrator just knew and continued on the trip. I can’t say enough about these trips. We have used them before in Glasier and Yellowstone. We are presently working on Bryce and Zion. Most of all, my husband found the narrator quite amusing, not annoying. After all, he is with you quite awhile along the trip. We made sure our iPad was being charged as we drove and left it on all day. The narrator would come on and off as we approached areas of interest. We definately recommend and will continue to use when we travel to other areas. Just downloaded Grand Canyon. Gypsy, keep up the good work. Well appreciated.

One of the best apps on the store!!!!. Raging fan here!!!! In Maui on vacation and decided to do the Road to Hana. Spent numerous hours researching stops to hit and trying to make sure we had all the directions needed. That was a complete waste of time. I just happened to come across GypsyGuide and downloaded the Maui Tour. Absolutely phenomenal!!! There is little to no cell service on the tour so having all the directions and audio offline was amazing. Everything was on point and truly made us feel like there was a tour director along for the ride. Do yourself a favor and purchase the entire Maui tour. There is so much more included and the narrator gives you the history of Hawaii and other information as you drive around the Island. This will be our go to app when ever we travel. I just can’t say enough about how great this was. We would have missed so much on the journey both in stops and information!!!!

Best money spent while traveling the Utah 5!. We purchased the Utah Mighty 5 tour bundle based on the recommendation of a friend. This app is Awesome!!!!!! Our whole family listened intently to everything our guide said on the tours. It was like having a personal NPS Ranger in the car. We learned so much more while driving and listening to the guide - far more than just stopping to read every sign. Even the drives between Zion and Bryce Canyon were entertaining as well as the drove from Canyonlands to Arches and Moab (and vice-versa). Make sure you download the data while in cell coverage as most of the parks do not have data service. Highly recommend!!!!!!! Will purchase tours for future road trips! My only comment for improvement is the Bryce portion needs to be updated to reflect a new traffic circle at the Highway turnoff from the main Highway into Bryce Canyon City. The next summer we purchased the Hawaii bundle and loving it!

Totally worth every penny!. This app was such a wonderful addition to our trip to Arches/Bryce/Canyonlands and Zion. “Howard” (the name we gave the voice on the app) was with us every step of the way answering questions we had about the landscape, the history and what hikes we should and shouldn’t do depending on our time concerns. He was funny, helpful and made our trip so much better by helping us decide where we should go and what we should do. I can’t say enough good things about this app. I wish there was an option for every park out there…maybe one day that will happen and I look forward that! I was chatting with my hairdresser and we discovered that we were both gypsy app nerds…she had just visited Hawaii and downloaded the road to Hana option and loved “Howard” just as much as I did!

5 Stars Ain’t Enough. Gypsy Guide Road to Hana was AMAZING! It was foolproof. All you have to do is download it. (Make sure you do it in advance while you have internet.). And then start it up when you begin driving that day. Your guide pops in as you approach the beginning of your journey automatically and then talks every time you need him. He opens with tips, tricks and instructions on how the audio guide works and then continues to guide you thoughtfully throughout your entire trip. On a road that has a reputation for scaring the bejeezus out of many people, it felt like we had an actual guide right in the car with us telling us where to turn and what not to miss. It was a real confidence booster and despite many hairy turns, I really wasn’t scared. My new friend was with me and he knew exactly what to do and where to go. The trip never would have been as fulfilling (and educational too!) without it. I would use Gypsy Guide again and again. After spending 13 hours together today, and relying on him so much, is it weird that I miss him now?

Must have app for vacation. This is one of the best app purchases I’ve ever made and can’t express enough how well it work. I didn’t even know GPS based audio tour apps existed. After an article mentioned it while preparing for a trip to the Badlands, Black Hills, and Mount Rushmore, I downloaded at the at the last minute. It made the vacation so much better. It made navigating a breeze and so much less stressful for the driver/navigator. We would have missed out on a lot of little side excursions and so much history. Our 8 and 5 year seemed to like it to listening along and commenting. We didn’t even need to look at GPS map the entire time. The narrator was spot on where to turn. I love how you could “choose your own adventure” and get out at an optional side excursion and the narrator would pick up right where you left off. I will definitely use it for our next national park vacation!

Personal guide and navigator. Just got back from Yellowstone/grand Tetons. This app was the star of the show. With no cellphone signal you either preplan every single stop on your way and plot your path on an offline map or just take your chances possibly missing important stops co you just didn’t realize what’s there (for example the fairytale trail leading to the spectacular must see a vermillion over the prismatic spring) This app delivers it all offline. With a map and GPS tracker you know you won’t lose your way. And with heads up commentary about each possible stop you get to make up your mind where to stop and when to skip. Having the app is not an excuse though to skip pre planning for your visit, but with minimum planning this app can be a huge asset. Even with a detailed pre plan the app will extremely enhance the experience. I will be looking for guides from gypsy guides for my next trips!

Best thing since sliced bread!!. We stumbled upon this app when trying to decide whether to take a tour of the Grand Canyon from Sedona or drive ourselves. We preferred to drive ourselves so I googled "self guided tour to Grand Canyon" and this wonderful app popped up. It was only $5.99 and it seemed too good to be true. Not only was this NOT too good to be true, it was amazing. I think it is underpriced. I would have paid $30-$40 for this self guided tour. I was looking at spending $800 for a guided tour for our family of four. It was perfect, easy to use, and started and stopped on its own as we arrived at each talking point along the route. The narrator was engaging, funny and informative. We loved going at our own pace and in our own car. It made the experience personalized and incredible. We will never pay for a tour in person if Gypsy tours offers a self guided tour! Thank you for the experience. It was just wonderful!

Amazing!. Don’t go to Yellowstone without “Gary” (who we found out is actually named Mark but will always be Gary to our group.)We had 8 people, teens and parents in two cars. This app was fantastic for all ages! Info is excellent, what to see, what to skip, about what you’re seeing… educational and funny! We never would have seen the steamboat geyser if it had not been for “Gary.” Traffic was terrible because it was actually erupting (which it does rarely and on no particular schedule.) We would have said, “forget it” due to the traffic but it was a must see area and we caught it along with several other great things by taking “Gary’s” advice. Can’t wait to visit another location that we can use this app for! We told everyone we met at the park to get it! Soooo worth the money, in fact, worth much more! A ton of work went into this one tour! We are incredibly impressed and thankful.

Arches and Canyonlands NP. This was our first purchase, Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. So glad we did it. As we drove, the narrator, guided us through the parks with just enough information to remind us of upcoming turn off’s, and sometimes alert us to little known spots we could visit. It was not a constant ramble, but just as if they were in the car with us and making observations as we drove. Also, giving the background of how formations got their name and historical context, as well as some geology lessons. The suggestions as we drove for either short hikes or long hikes was excellent. Especially as the day wore on and we wore out! Knowing that we could go to a viewpoint to see delicate arch, or take the hike, which would take approximately two hours was great to know and helped make our decision. As we travel around the country, I will always be looking to see if Gypsy Guide has a tour of the area we are going through. We drove from Arizona to Arches NP and as we went through Monument Valley on our way I did wish there was a Gypsyguide in that area.

Great for Travelers. I never do app reviews but I had to for this one! This is the best app for anyone traveling to any National Parks or other famous scenic places! I love that it works off GPS instead of cell data or wifi because many places don’t have service I love the commentaries and suggestions of what to do based on where you are along the way. We learned so much about Yellowstone we would not likely have learned otherwise. Science, history, conservation...even some politics! I love how it is audible so you are not looking down at a map or info brochure, missing what you should be looking at out the window! I love how it gives commentaries BEFORE you get to the area, makes suggestions and gives options. I just cannot recommend it enough...well worth the $ we paid for the Yellowstone Tour!

So much better than thought. I admittedly didn’t have high hopes for a drive along tour app. Kinda thought it would be something some kid pieced together in his basement to make a quick buck. But I was wrong. This app is great, both in terms of content and technology. Info was really good, informative, and read by a dead ringer (vocally) for Jim Gaffigan. I kept waiting for hot pocket jokes. Technically, I really appreciated how you’d get different info relative to if you were driving north or south on the same road. It wasn’t just a rerun. The timing was perfect such that you’d see what Jim was taking about at just the right time (assuming you go the speed limit). Longer audio clips about more general things would play when it was obvious there was no interesting things to see during that section of a drive. It was all timed, paced, and organized perfectly. Now I just wish they had more locations as I’m sold.

4000 miles and counting. We downloaded Gypsy Guide when we went to Hawaii the 3rd time. So when we headed out on our western United States tour we downloaded the western bundle. We have done the northern half and now we are starting the southern portion. It is so easy and convenient. We looked into doing a Grand Canyon southern rim only to find out the cost us over $250 pp. the app starts right at our campground. It is a no brainer. The things you learn on the Gypsy guide (now called Guide Along) is priceless. I tell everyone to get it. While in South Dakota I recommend it to a home school mom traveling through and she immediately downloaded it and said it was the best history class she purchased. I wish they had more places. We RV across the country and really wish they had more - the History alone is worth it

Fantastic!. I was told about this app as my husband and I were prepping for a trip to the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone. I downloaded it thinking we would use it just to pass time as we drove to the destinations I had mapped out in the park. Little did I know that I could have done much less planning and coordinating for our visit. The app does it for you—from giving history of the parks, to hints on where to pull off for beautiful vistas and wildlife. We even learned about side stops that weren’t mentioned in any blog or travel sites. We did a fair amount of hiking, and we even got tips about where to find trailheads and other short hikes. We met up with my brother and his family along the way, and I told them about the app. They liked it so much they downloaded The Badlands and followed Gypsy through that park on the way home. Highly recommend!

Great touring app, but needs one tweak. We purchased the app for the road to Hana in Maui. It was really quite wonderful to hear the guide, with a great DJ voice, explain to us where we need to go and what to do. The guide is synced with the phone’s GPS, so it even says things like “take the next curve to the left, and then you’ll see the entrance sign on the right. Park in the first available space.“ We haven’t been able to compare this with similar guides, so I don’t know if the “must see” attractions on this app are the same as what other apps and guide books or travel websites might say. The single biggest issue is that between the commentary, the app picks random audio tracks from my phone. This resulted in a very weird journey, including an hour and a half long boring lecture I had downloaded several years ago, and there was no way that I could find to skip the track or to identify a tracklist or at least musical genre to use as background music. In my opinion, this feature desperately needs to be fixed.

Informative but unrealistic. We liked learning about the history of Hawaii and the stops on the Road to Hana, but were disappointed with the fact that all the “must see” stops were given the same weight, and other stops were not sufficiently explained in terms of whether there was a fee for entry or whether a future stop would sufficiently cover the material from a prior stop (for example, neither Twin Falls nor The Garden of Eden were worth the cost). Oheo Gulch and Wai’anapapana State Park were both incredible and I wish there were an option that recommended going there first and spending a significant chunk of the day there. Essentially we should have done more of our own research but instead relied on Gypsy Guide and it was not sufficient to produce the experience we were seeking. Also, the timetable seems unrealistic — we were in Paia by 7am and still didn’t get back to Paia until 7pm, even skipping most stops. I don’t understand how Gypsy recommends all the stops it does and still expects people to turn around by 4:30pm. We liked the information we received but it just didn’t seem enough to make informed decisions about our journey.

Awesome guide!. We just used the Gypsy Guide on a trip to the Kaleakala Crater on Maui. In the past we used it on the Road to Hana and in Yellowstone National Park. What interesting and excellent guidance and information (history, myths, etc.). It's great that you can download the app'd map, guidance, etc. so it works even in places with no or poor cell service...and the GPS guidance works everywhere. I love the information about each place of interest that you can stop so you can decide whether or not to go there. If you go, guidance automatically leads you, if not guidance automatically continues on your journey. The recommendations for "too good to miss" places to visit are spot on. Our trips would probably have been great without Gypsy, but were awesome with it. There are many wonderful spots we would have missed without it. The Gypsy Guide deserves more than 5 stars!

You need this app!. We just got back from Maui and if you don’t get this app and keep it open while driving around you’re missing out on a huge part of your trip. First off, the narrator’s voice is so pleasant and soothing that anything he says sounds great. You look forward to him just talking about anything just to keep listening to him talk. The points of interest and tips for parking or other things were fabulous. It is so accurate you’d think he was in the car with you. He says look for a sign and you then see it. The stories of the history of Hawaii were great. I’ve been to Hawaii 6 times but now I have a really good idea of the history from the whaling days to now. How it became a state was also eye opening. Really interesting and easy to listen to and hearing it while driving was great. Road to Hana guided audio us a must. You can’t do it by following a book, sorry Maui Revealed, and I had that with me too. Best money you’ll spend on a driving audio guide. No joke. Just leave app open as you drive around audio will chime in every now and then. It changes a boring drive to a really amazing tour. I’m sure all the drives are great. We did Maui and it was amazing. Enjoy.

Fantastic Narration. My husband and I purchased the Utah Mighty 5 bundle, the Sedona tour and the Grand Canyon South Rim tour for our 24 day trip to Utah and Arizona. We are so glad we did. These commentaries made our vacation so much better than we ever anticipated. We thoroughly enjoyed the history lessons, geology facts, nature talks, fascinating stories, special tips and everything else he had to say. He also had a very nice sense of humor. He gave us detailed information that allowed us to enjoy every moment of our trip. Several times we noticed people not knowing what they were looking at or even not knowing about special places to go that we learned about because of this app. We feel Gypsy Guide is very reasonably priced for everything you get from it. We very highly recommend getting this app!!

Great App for driving anywhere especially Maui!. I purchased the full Maui experience app after recommendation from a friend. We used it not only for our Road To Hana trip, but for our regular drives throughout Maui including Haleakala and Iao Valley. The narrator was very easy to listen to and so interesting that our kids actually enjoyed it. He kind of sounded like Tom Selleck. Every time we got back in the car, they would ask did you turn on the app. We loved the stories about the history of Hawaii, especially on the drive back from Hana. We had a great experience with our drive to Hana unlike some others. We lucked out with our stops starting out really early in order to get to our reservation at Waianapana Park. None of our stops were very crowded-the only issue was many places early on were closed since we did start so early. I will be using this app now for other trips to National Parks around the US or any major cities this app is available for. It was well worth the $20!!

OUR BEST COMPANION ON A ROAD TRIP. I bought this tour when I decided to go to Yosemite last year, and I’m so happy that I did, this is NOT your normal tour where you just get some information about the attractions and the hot spots but it’s much more. This is a great tour where it will tell you your options for the turns to make ahead of time so you can change your lanes while you can safely. It will tell you ahead of time of where you’re heading if you keep straight or take a turn. It will talk about the geology, the history and fun facts about the places you’re visiting. It works seamlessly with Bluetooth or Apple car play while your music is on. If you’re driving faster than the speed limit and you passed the point on the map it will just catch up with you by skipping that point and talk about the coming one UNLIKE the other tours where they just get hung up and confused. I LOVE this tour guide I just finished the Las Vegas tour which was great and I bought many of the tours that this company is offering for my upcoming road trips.

A travel must. As a first time visitor to Kauai, we would have been lost without our guide. They shared clutch information about our destination but also shared important facts about the people, culture, and history. I can honestly say that without GyPSy Guide, we would have missed out on our favorite adventures during our trip. It also gave us an opportunity to see more things than we expected as we may not have known they were there. It was also great to hear different information depending on which direction you are traveling. Overall, I can’t recommend this app enough for anyone looking to find hidden gems or receive easy to follow instructions for must see sites. I’m really excited to try the Oahu tour, especially as someone who has travelled there many times.

12 National Parks. We recently visited 12 National parks in the west , started with the Grand Canyon and headed north visiting Zion , Bryce , Tetons , Yellowstone, Heading west to Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse , Badlands , then south Visiting Scott’s Bluff , Arches , Canyonland ,Monument Valley ,Petrified Forest and many other sites in between at state parks and local attractions . We used Gypsy Guide at every park his Tours were available, we would have missed so many things without Gypsy Guide , we loved having him along, it was like our own private guide , his voice is so pleasant, he’s very informative, loved all the extra info we got along the way , tours are very easy to use , all in all the best money we spent on our trip by far !! Don’t leave home without this app and guide . We have more to visit and you can bet Gypsy Guide will be along with us . Thanks so much for a great product, Dave

Another great experience with Gypsy Guide. I first used this app when traveling through Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon and loved it. When I was going to Hawaii this year, I made sure to get it for the Big Island. At first, my 21-year-old daughter wasn’t sure about using the app, probably thinking it would only be interesting to those in the middle age bracket. After a few days, she admitted she enjoyed the app & made sure it was turned on when we went for a drive. This app told us about the Hawaiian culture, landscape and areas of interest that we wouldn’t have known otherwise. I’ll definitely use this app again when I travel. We weren’t sure what the guy’s name was who narrates the app. He has a calm steady voice so I called him Bob (after Bob Newhart). My daughter didn’t know who this was so she called him Fred. His voice becomes so familiar it’s like having him on the trip. I’ll have to look up his real name next time I use the app. Thanks Bob or Fred or whoever you are for making our trip more enjoyable!

The Best!. I’m incredibly impressed not only with the tours, but the service, too! The tours are packed with area highlights, historical details and even helpful heads-ups on upcoming stops/pullouts. My husband and I went to the Canadian Rockies for our 10th Anniversary a few years back and we 100% would’ve missed places along the way if we wouldn’t have had the tour! They recently changed the tours to a single app and I had some difficulties getting the tours to appear today (especially since I changed phones since my last purchase). They responded extremely quickly, thoroughly and even resolved the issue same-day (and today is even a Saturday)! I had planned to purchase another tour, but sprang for the bundle because I adore excellent experiences like this! Plus, I now have even more excuses for future trip planning :)

Hana in Hawaii. First I want to say that we started out early in the morning hoping to beat the crowd. Although we thought most of the tour guidance on the app was good, all of the “have to” locations that the app suggested were completely full when we approached them. We later found that there were some other obtainable waterfalls that we not crowded that were not mentioned. So we ended up driving for hours and only stopped at 2 tourist stands to get banana bread and a treat. Ugggg, it was a really long day of just driving. I wish we had had a “heads up” that all the sights would be full and we would have cut our trip short. Also learning on the app the day of the trip that we needed tickets to the park 24 hours ahead of time was not helpful information. Last but not least, the history of the rulers was repetitive and was not what we wanted to listen to the whole way down the mountain. We thought the guide was giving directions to get down but instead gave an account of the rulers. Although I think this app is a great idea and had some great info going up, it missed some opportunities to see some sites that our guide book had mentioned. On the morning of we chose to forgo the guidebook info and solely use this app. We would use the guidebook next time. As I shared before, without opportunities to park and explore because of the crowdedness, we ended up with a very long day of driving.

It was like having our own personal guide. Just came back from Hawaii. We toured the four islands by rental car with guide along. With the help of “Earl”, we renamed David from guide along, we saw just about everything u could possibly see on the four islands. It was terrific, I did most of the driving but my wife, her sister and husband all really became attached to Earl he was part of our group. His stories and recomendations along the way were terrific. It was great that you can pick up the tour from any point along the tour. We all believe we wouldnt have seen half as much without it. And it would have been alot more planning. Will definitley use the app for other tours and hope they continue to add additional places to tour. Really a great travel guide to use.

Totally worth the money. For years I have been juggling different guide books, trying to read as we went and make things meaningful on trips. This is SO MUCH easier. The guides are super easy to use. They are entertaining and whimsical, but extremely informative. Everyone in my family likes them from elementary school age to adult. It takes all the stress out of trying to figure out which stop to make, etc. they also have answers to all the questions you might have like why did the rocks form this way or who found this place. It makes the trips informative but not overwhelming. They are nicely paced to be interesting and entertaining. They also make longer trips (like the road back from the road to Hana or between Bryce and Zion) highly entertaining. We have purchased 5 and loved each one.

Must Have for DIY Tourist. We purchased the O’ahi tour and we loved it. If this is your first time using the app, just know there are no directions to get you to the tour path. However, once you get on the tour path the directions and commentary are AMAZING. When you select Start Driving you don’t have to do anything but sit back and relax. The commentary automatically triggers and you hear some interesting information. The directions are clear too with advice on which lanes to get in when there could be confusion. I feel like we went to some little known places that we wouldn’t have gotten on a paid tour. We also visited the must see places. Even when we were retracing our path we still listened to the commentary again. This is a GREAT tour guide where you set your own pace!!! Can’t wait to travel more and see if Gypsy Tour has that city on the list.

Yellowstone in a nutshell. I admit we did almost zero preparation for our 1 day trip to Yellowstone’s lower loop. We would have missed so much without this app. The narrator (I wish I knew who it was because he sounded familiar) was easy to listen to and had lots of little tidbits about the park. I was scared he’d be annoying but he wasn’t! I wasn’t fully confident that the tour would load since cell service is very limited in the park (AT &T is our carrier but we were told that Verizon has much better coverage there), but as we followed the map, the narrator would magically start speaking when we hit the arrows on the map. There were a couple of times the app felt a little glitchy like when we resumed from a stop, but it always worked out. We also had a couple of moments where we weren’t 100% sure we were doing what was suggested. Yellowstone did not disappoint and neither did this app. Well done, Gypsy tour!

A Must Have for National Park Goers!. I was Leary spending the bucks for the West Coast package sitting pre travels back in Georgia but I took a chance and boy have we loved it. It is a fascinating, educational, and humorous app narrated by a guy who should at least tell us his first name because after just using it in one or two National Parks he becomes a member of the family. We call him Bob. We only have two more parks to go through that’s in the list and I can’t wait. There are more parks that the app doesn’t narrate and I wish they did. Northern Cascades, Olympic are two that come to mind. I would actually rate this app 12/10, it’s that good. Only thing I would like to see them add is putting the identifying features on the map so you could see the names as you drove through the areas. Highly recommend this app!

100% Worth It!. I purchased the guide for Going to the Sun Road (Glacier National Park in Montana) and it was incredibly helpful. It really opened our eyes to the background of how the road was built and pointed out what to look out for. Even with no service or Wi-Fi, the guide was perfectly on point with tracking our location too. It really helped us appreciate the gorgeous sites we were driving through even more. They even included practical recommendations such as where to pull off if you can and prepared us for what was coming up so we could make a decision on where to stop. The narrator is excellent at is and throws in a few jokes which I loved too. :) I’m telling everyone about these guides and plan to use them for more US National Parks. They’re absolutely worth the money for the download and more!

Made our Ntl Park road trip!. A friend recommended Gypsy guides for our trip, and are we ever glad she did! We downloaded and listened every day we were in the Rocky Mountains, Grand Teton, Yellowstone, and Badlands/Southwest South Dakota. The guide (we liked him so much we googled him) provided interesting and engaging commentary covering both the science and the history of the places we were seeing. It was invaluable context. We did feel that the commentary could have been augmented with more information about how the native people lived on and used this land - it was very white centric, though more nuanced with Native American history in South Dakota - but nonetheless, we so appreciated the information that was provided. Dave became our favorite traveling companion! And we found when we were in areas Gypsy Guide didn’t cover, that we really missed his insights! We will never do a national park without him again!

Canadian Rockies. The best decision I made to to download the Gypsy app during my most recent Canadian Rockies trip. It's like a professional tour guide is sitting next to you and providing step step by narration of all history, all different mountains, lakes along the drive through route 93 icefield parkway of all the mountains, stops for point of interests recommendations including issues related to parking and road conditions Best part that impressed me the most was that trip guide works offline even with the loss of cell signals on the mountains the app narration with guide you through the navigation. No one can possibly do enough research on their own to fully experience the Rockies and now I cannot imagine anyone going the Canadian Rockies with downloading the Gypsy app. I am all in downloading Gypsy app for my future trip to Hawaii and Yellow Stone National Park.

Loved this fir our Smoky mtns trip. We use this app for our great Smoky Mountains trip in September 2021. I found this on the Apple App Store and thought it would be pretty cool to have a self narrated tour of wherever we went little did we know it was very in-depth. It came with so much information which was really interesting to know and it was very informative as we drove up and down the mountain it would give us information going up and different information and going down it was really fun. I found those and told my wife about it who is normally the super nerdy one. She was very happy to see this working really well we had no cell phone coverage in the mountains no data but ours narrator was with us the entire time I’m not really sure how that works but it was phenomenal. This was just a great app and well worth the cost to purchase if only we lived closer to the other road trips.

You will be sooo glad you did!. We had planned where to go for our 30 year anniversary, but really had no idea what all the “must sees” would be. We felt so lucky to find this app. It was wonderful. The narrator (who we named T.G. for tour guide😜) was very personable and witty and anything but annoying. His voice was pleasant and the knowledge he provided was invaluable. We would have missed so many things on this trip had we not used it. We used the guide for the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone and the one for our travel into South Dakota for the Black Hills, Crazy Horse, Mt Rushmore and the Badlands. We had dreamed about this trip and wanted to experience “all the things”. The tour guide provided so much insight and made the trip so fun. He comes on automatically when you get on route (doesn’t matter from which direction you start) and makes it very smooth. We told some other couples in our hotel about it and they used it and were delighted! They said it saved them $1,000 on actual tour guides, let them be on their own schedule, paid $9.99 for the app and loved it. Gypsy Guides has trips for several places, so go check it out! You’ll be sooo glad you did.

We love the Gypsy App!. We recently completed a trip using Gypsy to the south rim of the Grand Canyon and then purchased another trip to Sedona. We find Gypsy very informative and entertaining. We would not know about all the scenic stops along the route without Gypsy. We were entertained by all the historical stories and facts about the geology. Gypsy is very easy to set up and very economical to purchase. Since it is a GPS, commentary matches where you are along the route and points out what you are going to see up ahead. We starting using Gypsy 15 years ago when we discovered we could rent the GPS machine for a trip to Canada and return it on the way back. So nice that it is still around and better than ever by just buying the routes you need at any time without any need for additional equipment. Gypsy makes a driving vacation even more fun!

Perfect travel companion!. We recently downloaded and used the GyPSy guides for Badlands NP and Custer State Park / Mt. Rushmore as well as for Grand Teton and Yellowstone NPs. They are excellent! Full of all kinds of information on the history, geology and scenery of each region, all delivered in a friendly, easy to listen to narration that we really enjoyed. The gps triggering worked perfectly and precisely wherever we were. Really made our road trip so much richer and easier (especially for Badlands, where the temperature was 107 degrees and we were not inclined to do much hiking). Regrettably, we had only one day at Yellowstone but the GyPSy guide helped us get the most out of it. It’s like having your very knowledgeable and good-natured favorite uncle in the car. In fact, we missed our well-informed companion later in the trip when driving through parks for which GyPSy tours are not (yet!) available. Highly recommend!

Awful experience ftom GyPSy and Apple Pay. I purchased several of the guides to use in our trip through Calgary, Banff, Lake Louise and Glacier National Park. They were useless. During kntial guide set up the sound tested okay. When we actually tried to use the app wnroute, the volume would not adjust and was too low to hear. I called GyPSy immediately and they told me I had to wait for my receipt from Apple to get my refund. I waited and as is typical with Apple Pay parchase, no receipt of purchase was in my account or email until much after the fact. When I followed the advice of GyPSy and request my refund, I was told “too late. Had to be done in 48 hrs from purchase”. Upon recontacting GyPSY they stand by their method and said to dispute it. I already had, and did again, Apple just says, “oops. You need to write it in the GyPSy review”. I already had. I’m so frustrated with both sides of this issue. I’d never buy a GyPSy guide again, nor will I contribute to use Apple Pay. Gaiper Guides and my Venture card are the only way to go.

So informative and makes navigating easy. I purchased the Black Hills/Rushmore/Badlands/Spearfish Loop tour package after a recommendation from a friend. When my teens heard I had purchased an audio tour, they laughed at me, but, after just the first tour, they were converts! We enjoyed the interesting facts and stories. As someone who had never been to this area before, following the included tour routes was a huge blessing as we saw the main highlights but also were pointed to some lesser known spots (like the spot where they filmed the final scene of Dances with Wolves and the historic fish hatchery, which is way cooler than it sounds). The tour gives very clear directions which was another huge blessing as the driver got to enjoy the tour as well without trying to figure out how to get to the next spot. Definitely follow the guide’s recommendation of which direction to drive to Mount Rushmore through Custer State Park for it makes for an amazing drive. I highly recommend GyPSy Guide, as do my teens.

A great find!. Made the mistake of purchasing through Viator and TripAdvisor initially (where I found out about it), and couldn’t access my purchase. After buying directly through the app, it was easy and great! So glad I found this app, my whole family loved the helpful descriptions that give a heads up on points of interest and where not to miss a turn or turn off to catch them! A lot of the stories, history, background on our route were pretty interesting. All in all, a very worthwhile purchase that I would recommend! Just wish the map parts for our real time driving routes were better. When you zoom in, the too tiny print details disappear. Highways and road names on the tour route aren’t labeled. I had to keep comparing with different maps and guessing where we might need to go compared to the app’s pictured route, and even took a snapshot so I could enlarge the print on their map picture as a photo on my phone. (The route descriptions are helpful to a certain point, but not detailed enough to figure out some of the driving route specifics.)

Mostly good, updates are problematic. I’ve used this app at 6 national parks now, its mostly good, some routes are better than others for sure. My main issue is how it handles updates, if your map is outdated you can’t use it until you update. If you’re out in Yellowstone NP, miles from service, you’re out of luck. That’s the main appeal of this app to me is that you can download it all ahead of time and use it offline. Anyway its gotten worse. On our most recent trip about half way through I just stopped trying to get it to update. Even though i updated everything on wifi before leaving for our trip and even though i checked for updates at least twice on the trip when at a visitor center or somewhere with wifi, it still quit to install updates it couldn’t download three separate times. So for those drives we couldn’t use the app we paid $15 for. Update: The dev contacted me to tell me that what happened to me in fact did not happen and that the app works great, which reminded me that their support is pretty bad. I’ve contacted them a few times with questions and they just tell me its working fine and I must be doing it wrong. Maybe I am, but it’d be nice if they would tell me how to do it right.

A fantastic addition to a road trip!. We used GyPSy Guide on a recent road trip through Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Park and it was great! Both of my kids (6 and 9) really enjoyed the facts, narration, and information that the app provided (and were a little sad that we didn't have it for the rest of our trip outside of the park). The audio was clear, easy to understand, and extremely well timed to trigger at the right time and complete before the next announcement. We drop the park several days in different directions and the audio prompts changed depending on our direction (with some repeats, which was to be expected). The app worked fine with Music and Google Maps playing in the background in Apple Car Play. I would highly recommend this for anyone driving through a National Park - it was great! I can't wait to visit another park that it has audio available for!

Don’t know how we would have done Road to Hana without it.... First trip to Maui for my daughter’s 25th birthday. We heard horror stories about driving the Road to Hana. I was overwhelmed trying to figure out the sights and Mile marker numbers on a map and realized there would be no cell service on our trip. I read about this app online and was skeptical, but figured I could use all the help I could get. Reading review after review to “just get it” I purchased the full Maui tour. All I can say is JUST GET IT—don’t hesitate or think twice—this made driving the Road to Hana a breeze!! I literally pressed the “start driving” button and our narrator (we called him Joe) talked us through the entire trip! Suggesting when to get gas, food, which stops were coming up, which were worth it and which to skip. I honestly could not recommend it more highly!! We saw everything we wanted and more without having to fumble, turn around, get lost—it was literally a life saver. I enjoyed all the narrations and learned a lot about Maui. While driving, “Joe” was THE perfect co-pilot! Just get it!! You will not regret it! HIGHLY recommend!!

Best money you can spend. My wife and I just left 4 day trip in Yellowstone. I did due diligence prior to the trip researching the best way to navigate the park. The reviews for this app are spot on. No need for cellular service- it works off GPS on the cell phone and never missed a beat. Excellent navigation aide and locator with great points of interest, explanations, and history. Literally the best $15 I could’ve spent. Great thing is you have the purchase for that trip for life, should you want to go back in a few years. We’ll definitely be using the app again for future trips, should there be a guide available for whichever trip that may be for us next. One side note- it is a separate purchase on the app for different trips. Not to worry though…again, the best money you can spend!

Fantastic, Knowledgeable and Educational. What a great find! We start our retirement trip west in May of 2021 and return home in September of 2021. Our plan was to visit the National Park west of the Rocky Mountain National Park. We had never took a road trip west and a family member told to check out the GyPSy App. We decided to purchase the Rocky Mountain trip. We were so Wowed we purchased many of the tours. However for some reason we didn’t purchase the Arches National Park tour. By the end of the day we were so overwhelmed and exhausted. It hindsight we were like kids in a toy store running around taking pictures and missing the details. From that on point the GyPSy guide was downloaded and ready to play though our truck radio. We saw and heard about gems we never would have known about. In October we decided to revisit Smoking Mountains National Park first thing we did was down loaded GyPSy guide. We saw and learned so much more this time at the park thank you GyPSy guide! Covid restrictions dampened our trip west but the GyPSy guide truly a created experience that we will never forget! Thank you, Katie and Brian Rumpilla

So glad I got this for our trip!!!. I’ve never had a tour guide experience until this fall in DC! Realizing how much info they have to offer and keep you engaged in what you are looking at makes you even more present and appreciative as you experience anything! So I downloaded this app, bought the Grand Teton and Yellowstone park guide and it was AMAZING! As we drive our guide gave us bits of history, where we definitely want to turn off and take in views; what a real life tour guide would do but you were in control of the routes and what you wanted to stop and see or skip. It uses your location so you got real time information as locations and points of interest were coming up. Definitely will buy more National Park bundles as we visit each one!! Worth the money!!!

Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. We recently used this app for the two parks above (Grand Teton and Yellowstone) and absolutely LOVED it. The narrator was informative, funny and incredibly well-timed. Even though the parks had no cell service and no WiFi, we were always totally informed with functional maps, GPS that was always correctly on point and information at hand about the myriad things to do in the park. We found the narrator’s voice to be soothing and his information really interesting. We learned a LOT, as did our kids, aged 3-10. Highly, highly recommend spending the money on this app for a fun and easy way to navigate a park that is way too vast to do it on your own! He tells you what is “must see” and what you can skip if you’re short on time. Can’t wait to download more of his commentary on future trips.

Fantastic App - Highly Recommended. Get the app for your travels and you’ll discover amazing facts and details. It makes road trips and tours so much more fun!

Waste of money. We couldn’t download our tour of Icefields Parkway because we had no internet coverage. Complete waste of money

Awesome!. Dave was a great companion on our tour if the Great Ocean Road in Aus. Fantastic, informative information and accurate directions. This certainly made our trip so much more exciting. The GyPsy App is a must for anyone undertaking this trip. Thanks Dave!!

Yosemite. Excellent tour guide. We didn’t want to do a bus tour so this provided all the info we needed in the privacy of our own car. Tips on the road positioning were also great (we usually drive on the left so the tour guide was a great reminder when the road changed from one way to two way). Highly recommend this tour if self touring.

Just buy it worth every $. Currently on the Road to Hana this app is worth. EVERY cent so handy on the crazy skinny road so you know what's coming up well done guys!!!!

Best money I’ve ever spent on an app.. Travelling through the American West from Australia. This app is AWESOME!! Can not rate it highly enough. 10 stars!

Well worth it. A great addition to a road trip.

UNBELIEVABLE!!!. You cannot do Road to Hana without this app. The narrator is amazing with the perfect level of education and entertainment. The gps was perfect ensuring we were able to seamlessly continue the tour when we lost cell service (often). I cannot recommend it enough. I hope they add more locations around the world because I will do all of them. Absolute must-buy.

Excellent APP. we used the app in Maui on the road to Hana! We loved it and really elevated the experience. Great historical context too, not just a narrative of what you’re seeing. Great to have in the car when you’re driving all around the Island.

Best Travel Companion!. Hands down the best tour around. Highly recommend the Canadian Rockies Tour. Best money spent, everything on your own time and so much history!

Gypsy guide. Listening to the guides have enhanced and deepened our understanding of the parks we have visited. We love them and can’t imagine going to these places without it. Keep adding more destinations please.

These are the best. Looove these tours!! We are addicted to them, can’t take a road trip without them now. We have now got the whole Canada series, and also Going to the Sun road.

Second time around. Thanks Gypsy Guide for an amazing ride on the Road to Hana and the history lesson on the way home. Our kids joined us for our second time on this journey and they loved it. It was even more enjoyable and adventurous and the information and stories really added to our experience!

Maui. The Gypsy Guide was fantastic value for our trip to Maui. Excellent for the road to Hana but also extremely useful for all the other roads on the island. Interesting and informative commentary. Absolutely worth the money. Like having a guide in the car the whole time.

A “must have” for your vacation!. We recently travelled from Calgary to Vancouver with side trips to Drumheller, Banff, Whistler and Vancouver Island. It was our first time using Gypsy guide. We used seven tours in all! They were excellent! Very informative, entertaining, and fun. And up to date with road closures etc. During the portions of our travels where no tour was available we were missing the narration! Great value. We will use the tours again on future trips if available and hope to see more tours added.

Well worth the price. This guy made our Road to Hana Trip. So many great tips, info and historical data along the right. What would have been an exhausting ride became informational and fun. Would love for you to do this for the Philippines!

Awesome!!. This app was amazing!!! Our 10 year old son loved the commentary and learning as we drove!! Well done!!

Love the gypsy guide!. Planning my future vacations around the the gypsy guide & and appreciate how much it enhances out vacations for a reasonably price. Love to tell other travellers about it! I’m surprised more people don’t know about it!!

So great!. My first time buying an audio tour and it was fantastic. Like GPS meets knowledgeable tour guide! We saw great sites and weren’t bored on the ride to and from each site. I will 100% do this again!

So informative. Used on the Big Island it was so easy and informative. If u do not have this while driving you will miss so many interesting sights. A must have!

GPS Enabled App with Personality. Great app that uses GPS location to tour you around without being annoying or boring! Can be put on while playing music and the app will automatically transition in and out. Used this on Maui and Kauai on 2 separate occasions and worth every cent! Gives you plenty of notice for points of interest that we may have otherwise missed and tells you if it’s worth checking out or not. Highly recommend and hope they come out with more tours

Suggestion. When “Bert” isn’t talking, our nickname for the speaker, and there is quite we recommend some Hawaiian music in the background. Other than that this is the second time we are using this app on Kona and really enjoy.

Awesome for road to Hana. Great stories and advice for the road to Hana on Maui, we would have had no idea what to do if we didn’t have this app, thanks!

Great App!. The app was really easy to use and the commentary was excellent. We didn’t miss a thing on the drive and also learned a ton on the Maui culture and history. Highly recommended as this made our trip easy.

Rockies trip. Fantastic app. We love it

A must when we travel to Hawaii. You can’t beat the value of having a narrated audio guide and offline gps, it’s like having a tour guide sit in the backseat of your car pointing out what you can’t miss. The narrator does such a great job that we have affectionately called him “Bob.” Living in the Rocky Mountains it was a wonderful surprise to discover that he has a whole series for the rocky mountains In Canada too! We were in the amalfi coast this summer and it would have been amazing had he had a series there too!

Made our trip!. We had been to Yellowstone before, but never like this. The kids were excited too each time a new audio started. This completely made our trip memorable in ways I couldn’t have done with a “book”!!

Amazing tours. I loved the tours that I purchased (Zion/Bryce and the south rim of Grand Canyon)! The app works perfectly, the quality is just amazing! I especially enjoyed the trivia information about the Harvey girls, etc, probably because it was unexpected but, really, the tours as a whole are awesome! As a Canadian living on the east side of the continent I’d love to see more tours about both eastern Canada and USA.

Banff townsite. Excellent tour. The guiding was amazing. Learned lots! Love being able to see the sights on our own time

Yellowstone. 6/5. Wonderful. A must have. It ´s just like having a guide with in the car. And your voice is very pleasant. I met a couple that sugessted us it. And they were very impressed also with this app.

Amazing Experience. This app made all of the difference. We were doing the drive to Hana on Maui and, oh my god, this app gave us everything we could have hoped to get out of the trip. The history and commentary was amazing, the stop suggestions were incredible, and the advice and information was invaluable. I do wish that there was more information about timing because the times that it was mentioned, it was so helpful. We missed a few of the stops because we didn’t realize the park at the end closed, but wow this app was incredible for helping us through the trip. Worth every dollar!!!

Amazing for Maui!. We loved having the commentary for our stay in Maui! Would love to see a Cabot Trail or eastern Canada route as well

We loved this!. Downloaded the original road to Hana tour before we departed and so glad we did. The guide (Bill, as we named him) told fascinating stories and took us to places on the tour that we wouldn’t have known to go otherwise! Highly recommend!!

Road to Hana 5 STAR!!. If you’re driving the road to Hana this is an absolute must. It’s the best money I’ve spent all vacation in Maui. The audio tour guide was unbelievable. Pros: -all the must sees -timing of things -history- so cool! -etiquette teaching -specific directions -super calm soothing voice -funny jokes! Cons -none lol

IR. We have used it for several trips and will DEFINITELY use it again!!!

Best personal guide. Used the Gypsy Guide in Hawaii for Big Island, Maui and Kauai. Also for Las Vegas and Hoover Dam. Can be done at your leisure and does not require data. Commentary and practical tips throughout. Excellent value over guided tours.

Amazing. Used this for the road to hana in Maui. Amazing amazing amazing! Worth every dollar. So much easier navigating everything and so much fun listening to the history. SO GOOD!!!

Very informative!. We used this for the Road to Hana and it was well worth the money. It made driving and seeing the sights so easy because the app knows where you are and will point things out that you wouldn’t have noticed otherwise. On the drive back, there was a lot of history about Maui which was really cool and interesting. I don’t think we would’ve had the opportunity to learn about it otherwise, so I’m really grateful the app let us do that. It also saves you the time of having to figure out where to go, when to do it, how to drive the route, etc. I’d highly recommend getting this app!

Super helpful in Banff!. These tours were so helpful for us in Banff. It felt like we had a tour guide in the backseat. Bonus was the directions even when we lost signal in the mountains!

Great tour. Great tour but would like to see Vancouver Island coverage as well.

Road to Hana. This was a very nice addition to our trip, went multiple times and it was still interesting.

Drumheller, Alberta. Great tour. I would recommend that our location be a different colour than blue. Found it tough to see where we actually were on the map.

Road to Hana tour. Totally worth it!

Gypsy App. Fantastic app!!! I hope you plan on more destinations!! Route 66??

Rd To Hana, Banff, Jasper all amazing. I have done the road to Hana in Maui, the Banff tour, Jasper tour, and this weekend just completed the ice fields 93 tour Banff the jasper. I can’t recommend it enough. If you have Apple play, use that with music in the back ground, it will reduce the volume as the guide talks then turn it back up after. Best way to enjoy the mountains, you learn wildlife, plants, explorers, and even the way the mountains where formed. Tells you which areas are the must stop to see areas.

Apple Family Share Not Available. Greatly reduces value if you can’t share this with family members to plan trips. Very disappointing.

Maui’s Road to Hana tour was awesome!. We relied on the Road to Hana tour for our day trip and it was entertaining and informative. Highly recommend!

GyPSy, how we love you!!. A friend suggested your app after driving thru the Canadian Rockies. We are currently travelling the Mighty Five in a rental car. It was easy to download the app, easy to pair with the rental and easy to listen and learn as we drive. We have laughed along and are amazed at what we are learning. Thx for being our personal tour guide. Well worth the price. Sheree from Hanover,Ontario.

Amazing. Such a great way to travel. The stories and points of interest are amazing. Thank you for making my travels that much more enjoyable.

So worth the small cost!. Loved this app. We learned so much about not only the Road to Hana but also the Hawaiian people. We would have missed so much if we didn’t have this guide with us. Also helped fill the time as we drove along. We kept thinking what everyone without the app was missing along the way. Highly recommend!

Stellar!. Road to Hana would not have been as fun without Gypsy Guide! So informative but not annoying. The guide tells you what you want and need to know depending where you are en-route. The best app ever!

Great app - Feature Request. The app is great. Timing of cues are spot on. Information well researched. Narrators voice is not annoying. A feature that we would love to see, though is having three different levels of narration. Perhaps something along the lines of detailed, moderate, or brief narration. I do like information, at times it’s too much narration and it would be nice to reduce some. Great job and will definitely recommend.

Road to Hana - Excellent with room for improvement. We used GyPSy for the Road to Hana tour after the concierge at our hotel recommended it to us. Let me start this review by saying that we under-researched the trip and were extremely thankful to have this app to guide us. As long as you drove at an appropriate speed, the directions were pretty good and it was nice not to have to rely on navigation apps since there is limited service for the majority of the drive. While we were extremely happy with the app overall, we can only give it 4 stars because there were a few misses that we thought were easy fixes. The first thing we would say is a miss (as others have noted) is that the app over promotes some of the less important stops. We wanted the full experience and stopped at a few stops there were not very interesting and could have been passed in favour of similar but much more interesting future stops. This was especially annoying when there were fees for some of the stops that we weren’t aware of until we were at the front of the line to get in and park and essentially couldn’t turn around. Some of these may be new fees, but given that you pay a reasonable price for the app it seems like someone could travel the route and update that sort of information from time to time. We also found that the information about the stops was inconsistent. Some stops had details like costs, reservations being required, what options for things to do there was at the stop and how long some of those options would take. Others didn’t have that information and this made it hard to manage our time properly. Another annoying thing was unnecessary warnings about the “last chance” for things. For example, the app will tell you that in town in Paia is the last chance to get food or supplies. In fact, the time we were there, there was only one small restaurant open, it had a fairly long line (likely everyone following the app) and then there was a small gas station with some snacks. 5 minutes outside of town, there was a few county or general stores were open, seemed to have more to offer, and looked bigger and less busy. This happened again in Hana. At one point the app advised that there was only one general store and a small gas station, so we assumed there were limited options to get food there. We had planned to stop for lunch, so we were worried and stopped at the first food truck we saw thinking there was nothing else. Once again, a few minutes down the road we came across a handful of other options, including a couple parks with multiple food trucks. We acknowledge that they may have revised the instructions to account for COVID closures, but once again it seems like that didn’t change overnight and the app could do a better job of checking these things and updating the instructions accordingly. Finally, a few reviews complain about the history of Hawaii that the app gives you on the way back. Personally, we found it extremely interesting and a nice way to keep us alert on the dark drive back. If you don’t like the history lesson, then you could simply set a normal GPS on the way back since you won’t have many stops to make and should be able to navigate no problem without cell service. In sum, we would absolutely recommend this app to anyone planning on driving the road to Hana, and in particular anyone not 100% prepared like we weren’t. We just wish the developers would make a few improvements and check and update the information more frequently.

A must have for Maui!. Thanks to this app, we toured all around Maui. If you’re doing the road to Hana, going to Haleakalā or even just want to learn more about Hawaiian culture and history, you need to purchase the tours for Maui on this app. 10/10 recommend - felt like we were friends with Dave (the voice actor in the app) by the time we were ready to come home. Can’t wait to visit other locations there are tours for!

Vancouver Downtown. Excellent content and more importantly directions with the heavy traffic on Saturday summer day. Enjoyed the commentary and humour. Wouldn’t have done this kind of guided tour without the app.

Made our drive 10x more enjoyable. Used this for several drives around Maui, including the road to Hana. Very informative, entertaining, and useful. The gps location was pinpoint accurate despite no cell signal much of the drive. Would have felt lost without it. Thanks guys!

Loved it. This app absolutely enhanced our driving around Oahu! We learned heaps.

The Best Guide!. We loved using Gypsy Guide during our honeymoon to Hawaii. We used it for the Maui portion of our trip and wished we had used it when we started the trip on Oahu. The guide was not only very good at giving directions to many things we wanted to see and do but it was also so informational! He provided historical stories, tips, Hawaiian language lessons, and such a fun vibe! And I can’t forget to mention that the speaker was amazing! He was funny, informative, and had a great voice that made us want to keep listening. We nicknamed him Gypsy Man and it felt like we had a very knowledgeable friend with us during our trip. I can’t recommend Gypsy Guide enough! We will definitely use it in the future and we hope they add more guides soon!

A must have guide!. NO I did not get paid by this app to write this review. On my stay at Maui I purchased the Road to Hanah and Haleakala Summit. The virtual tour guy is very very entertaining. Saved me a lot of time of research to find out where to go, he narrated every places we should visit as soon as we were near the spot. Their technology is really good that, even when I didn’t have cell reception, the tour guy was narrating location by location and spot on. I must say, On the way back from Hannah, my wife fell asleep, and the kids, this guy kept me going with the story of Hawaii and so much more. Two thumbs app and definitely a must have ❤️

Really great tour!. We used the GyPSy Guide for our Hana Maui adventure. The narrator was super informative, pointed out all the points of interest, both good and not so good. The trip took all day and he knew exactly where we were and gave us a turn by turn the entire time. We are super pleased about the functionality of the app. The finale is the history of Hawaii on the drive back, weather we like what happened to the native Hawaiian people or not, it’s very important time to hear the history. Thanks for a great app, a friend of ours recommended it and it didn’t disappoint, we will use it to drive Haleakala tomorrow! I want to know more about the narrator as well now, we spent all day with him and enjoyed his commentary and stories thoroughly.

It is a no brained. The things you learn on the Gypsy guide is priceless. I tell everyone to get it. While in South Dakota I recommend it to a home school mom traveling through and she immediately downloaded it and said it was the best history class she purchased

Great app!. I was recommended by a friend to download this for an upcoming fall trip to Vermont and thought I’d check it out ahead of time for a 3 day getaway to beforehand. Being a south Florida native and having made the drive many times, I wasn’t sure what to expect from the Miami to key west trip. I must admit, I learned a lot and there were so many things new to me! This was extremely well done and seems completely up to date as landmarks etc are spot on. There were places you would never know were there without the benefit of the app! We thoroughly enjoyed and I hope they add new drives soon. Cannot wait until we get to Vermont and looking forward to the new things we find.

Best Yellowstone Tour at the Best Price. This app and the Yellowstone Tour was invaluable. This is perfect for those who get overwhelmed with planning and need suggestions for things to do along the way and notifications for must-stop sights. I only had a few issues with the GPS a few times which was fixed by turning off Bluetooth capabilities and opening the NPS app which used the same type of location service. The only thing missing from this app is an outline of the talks so you can go back and listen to segments from a more convenient list rather than finding one of the many arrows on the map.

Beyond awesome travel app. We loved this app! We loved listening to all the information along the way. We loved how the app new exactly where we were on the drive! We loved all the history and suggestions (including food and other roadway stops) and we loved the tour guides voice! We all agreed that we wished he was actually in the car with us. Who ever thought about making this app is brilliant! We could never have done the Road to Hana drive anywhere close to as well as we did without this app! And he got us home safely in the dark and kept us all entertained with the history of the Hawaiian people. Thank you, thank you! LC

Buy it. Now.. I never write reviews. This thing has been absolutely amazing our entire honeymoon on the island of Maui. Road to Hana, Haleakala, you name it. Such enjoyable short stories, helpful navigational tips, history, AND science facts. The app follows you via GPS; you don’t need service while you use it, just make sure you download the guide ahead of time. It takes breaks in between the commentary as to not overload you while you drive. My husband had his phone plugged in the car for music and navigation, and I had my phone charging and playing the app the entire trip. For those who enjoy documentaries and podcasts, this ones for you. Honestly, perfect.

Fantastic. We have listened to the Yellowstone/Grand Teton tours and the Mt. Rushmore/Custer State Park tours and loved them so when we had a trip planned for Maui and the Big Island of Hawaii, we obtained these tours. Both of these Hawaii tours were great except occasionally we would be starting up the tour for the day and right on the tour route in airplane mode and the tour would indicate that we were not on the route. This occurred several times on both islands but in all cases eventually resolved itself. Other than this, I would give all of our Gypsy tours 5 stars. Can’t wait for our next adventure together. Can you create some tours for New England?

Road to Hana. Absolutely made the journey memorable and thoroughly enjoyable!! There’s very little signage on the Road to Hana, so important to know when to pull over. The tour guide alerts you to the stops that are worth doing and tells you where there are restrooms and gas stations. The history is really interesting. Also many helpful driving tips because the road has over 55 one lane bridges and sections that are blind turns. It made the twisting, narrow drive more relaxing and pleasant. Highly recommend this for anyone doing the tour. We stayed 4 nights in Hana and the return trip provides helpful history on Hawaii. The guide does not simply repeat itself on the return journey.

Yellowstone was awesome!. Was referred to this app by others and was so glad we tried it! This was our first time using it and it made our Yellowstone trip so much more enjoyable. The narrator was very pleasant to listen to and even gave us a few laughs along the way. Love how you just download and go. It automatically plays as you drive along the route and has some very interesting facts. Fun for the whole family!! Thank you and we can’t wait to visit our next adventure usuing this. In fact we want to go back and visit places we’ve already been to but haven’t had the app just so we can listen the the guide.

A Must Have. I downloaded the audio tour for the Road to Hana. The entire family was impressed with how well the app worked even when there was no cell service. The audio synched perfectly with the trip. “Bruce” (that is what we named our audio tour guide) kept us entertained throughout our drive and in the know of where to stop. On the way back from Hana, Bruce gave us a history lesson about Hawaii. The teenagers in the car were completely engaged and would state “don’t leave us hanging Bruce” when he would tickle your ears with an interesting fun fact he is about to reveal on the next stop. I will definitely download other trips in the future.

The Road to Hana. I can’t recommend this enough. We did the Road to Hana twice when we were in Maui and used this app both times. When we had no cell service, the audio continued to help us. The narrator gives you a ton of interesting facts and makes it so fun to listen to, AND he gives you enough time to be able to listen to what he’s saying and be able to turn and pull off when you need to. This was a wonderful, accurate guide app. And on the way back, we got to listen to all new audio, with fascinating history of the island. Loved, loved, loved. I’d give it 10 stars if I could.

Phenomenal. We live in our RV and have been traveling the country visiting National Parks this year. Sadly I only learned of this app when we were in Yellowstone, missed out on using it at Custer. I bought the west coast package ( received a credit towards it since I had already purchased Yellowstone) and we are thrilled with this app! The gentleman that narrates is like our friend and I can’t tell you how many times we ask something out loud and the next minute, there he is with an explanation or an offbeat place to visit that we never would have known about! Worth every single penny (I actually think the app isn’t charging enough for all the great info you get!)

Great tour!. We were visiting Yellowstone National Park, and were overwhelmed in trying to plan our tour. There are so many sites, resources and opinions that we just wanted one source for easy touring. This was it! It was recommended by the visitors center, and we could not have been more impressed by it. We were looking mainly for a driving guide, not hiking/fishing/camping advice; if you want that, seek elsewhere. But this was perfect to recommend what sites were “must see” and which could be bypassed if time didn’t allow. The narrator was friendly and welcoming, reminiscent of Lake Wobegone. We felt it invaluable to our visit, and would highly recommend it to those looking for a great experience in the park.

Best way to enjoy Tetons and Yellowstone. We purchased the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone trips for this app and to be honest, I don’t think I’ve ever more wisely spent money on any app! The narrator is not only witty and informative — providing insider tips for some of the most memorable experiences — but we actually found ourselves listening to him EVERY time we got back in the car to set out on excursions; even relishing in repeats. What’s makes this app even greater is when you don’t have connectivity (which is almost 90% of the time if you covered as much ground as we did), the app tracks your GPS and gives you very precise directions — superseding the limitations of other map-based apps. Sorry, Waze! With so much to go and see in Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons, we felt this app gave us great details on where to go, what to see and how/when to do it. We’ve recommended this app to everyone we’ve met during our seven days here in Yellowstone/Tetons. We were actually bummed when we drove our final stretch of Grand Tetons — exiting the park and saying goodbye to a narrator we now feel is (oddly) a friend. We gave him a name even — James! Goodbye, James! And thank you for the “fantastic time!”

The BEST travel companion. If you’re debating about using this app on your road trip - the answer is YES! This turned out to be the best kept secret during our Grand Teton / Yellowstone trip. The app is easy to use, the commentary is informative and interesting, the narrator’s speaking voice is pleasant. My 13 year old was even engaged with the stories, the history and the science about the parks. The amount of time and trouble this app saved us trying to decide what to see and what to skip; as well as the amount of frustration saved trying to look at the map while driving - more than worth the cost! If the area we’re traveling to is available- we will never do a road trip without it. And I’m telling everyone about it! So impressed. Thank you!!

GyPSy Guide - Road to Hana - Maui. Cannot speak highly enough of this route and app. Coming in with almost zero background knowledge or planning this gave us the inside track to feel like seasoned experts. Incredible route recommendations, the “must sees”, the “if you have times” and the “probably should avoids”, this covered everything, layered with incredibly enjoyable commentary throughout the entire journey. We learned so much about the region and history of Hawaiian settlement. The other vehicle in our group used the shaka app and they did not have half the recommendations the GyPSy app provided. They turned a great day into a lifelong memory, could not recommend more!

BEST GUIDE EVER. This app helped me and my bf on the Road to Hana by letting us know when certain stops are coming up as you’re driving, where to park, and the history behind everything. The guide also lets you know which stops are worth seeing (there are sooo many), and tells you which ones to skip if you’re in a time crunch. It’s definitely worth the money because the guide doesn’t make you worry if you’re going to accidentally miss anything. LOVE IT. If you don’t purchase it, then you’re just going to be driving around aimlessly on a road, missing stops, and not appreciating the culture & history.

Must get for Maui!. We used the Gypsy guide for our Maui trip and it truly enriched our experience! The guide made our experience much more robust and educational and never felt intrusive or like “too much.” It was excellent to discover places to go and places that weren’t worth the time. By the end of our stay in Maui we felt like we were leaving a friend behind and our kids have started doing their own “Gypsy guides” as we drive around. They retained a good bit of educational info from the guide! We were debating between the Gypsy guide and the Shaka guide and we made the right choice. The Shaka guide is disliked by locals as it apparently encourages visitors to venture onto restricted private property. Highly recommend!

Absolutely a MUST HAVE!!. Bought this guide for the island of Oahu and it was unbelievably helpful! Having the guide play in the background as we approached different places was informative and entertaining. The guide gave us a heads up on many local tips and took us through everything we needed to see. We also bought the Maui road to Hana for our day trip to Maui. The road to Hana guide was off the charts! Interesting history and tips on where to get the best views and what times to be everywhere was unbelievably helpful and made for an incredible day on Maui! We got a late start on the road to Hana and still were able to visit and see everything on the trip! How anyone could complain about this guide, especially for the cheap price, is puzzling.

Amazing app/guide. Wow! I was truly shocked when I downloaded this app to do my drive in Maui it was amazing. It felt like we had a personal tour guide sitting in the truck with us along the way, saving us a ton of money. Oh and as we made stops the app continued even with little to no cellular service. I made sure I downloaded my map just in case we got too high away from cell towers. My whole family enjoy this app so much we recommended it to others as we were driving and stopping at all the sites along the way grabbing local food and fruit. This app was on point and the history lessons…all I can say is THANK YOU!

Oahu Tour—Excellent. Worth every penny. I’ve used self-guided tours all over the globe and this one was excellent. Having completed the tour, We feel we’ve seen all the highlights, gotten some good educational information, and have a list of things we want to return to. Drive the speed limit and the GPS-triggered audio tracks provide excellent directions and information in plenty of time to follow/appreciate. Even during the hour drive from the North Shore back to Waikiki, the tour keeps you entertained with nuggets of information at regular intervals. Finally, the narrator’s voice is pleasant and engaging—important when you’re listening with him for eight hours! Highly recommend. 👍👍

Decolonize your history!. We used GyPSy for our Maui vacation and really loved it! We are happy we purchased the Maui package. We have lived in Hawaii for years and are somewhat familiar with the history of the islands. My only comment is that I wish they put more of an effort in speaking of the Hawaiian history in a more culturally accurate way, not one that was steeped in colonial (white-washed) facts. I also think it would be nice to have a Native Hawaiian person involved in the Hawaii narration and history. Some of the words were pronounced wrong. While this didn’t affect our tour (we still loved using it), I think it’s important that visitors have a better understanding of the history that shaped these islands and don’t further add to the misinformation surrounding these beautiful islands and people.

Love this app and their service!. In preparing for a family trip we were looking for “a tour guide in the car” to come along with us. Dave and GyPsy Tours stepped into that role splendidly! We started with a trip to Grand Teton and Yellowstone and actually drove some roads we hadn’t planned just to hear his comments. In fact on the long drive home after spending the week in those parks, it felt natural as we passed signs, drove through cities and past geologic formations on the road outside of the parks to wonder what Dave would have said about them. We ended up purchasing Yosemite and Grand Canyon tours as well. (The sights in the parks were pretty nice too :-)

What an amazing day!. The Gypsy app seriously enhanced our entire experience on the Road To Hana. The narrator not only had me and my wife laughing along the way, he also taught us so much about the history and culture of the area. We gained a better appreciation for the land and the people who inhabit it/make it so special. Also, all the stops… this is the real deal! Everything was timed so perfectly and if you listen to the instructions you’ll have a really full day! Buy this tour, you won’t regret it! We will definitely be looking for more tours in the app as we travel to other destinations. Cheers! -Wesley

Definite must have. Initial longer view was deleted during writing but Ill save the banter and just say this is a must have guide for any trip. Amazing how great it actually was and worked without service and followed me as I drove. Narrator was great and missed him when it was over. Best and cheapest tour guide possible. From major sites to side trails and must do’s to suggestions and facts and history, this really made my trip. I went in to Yellowstone and teton knowing nothing and navigated better than Ever could have imagined. Definitely will use for any future trip. I do have suggestions for improvements if there’s a developer response. Definitely the only way to travel! I miss the narrator still!

Yellowstone and grand Tetons must have guide. If we did not have this app we would have missed many of the side roads and attractions we would have never thought about. Not only is the app informative, we loved having our guide we named “Gary” as part of our family trip. We loved all the stories, facts and knowledge about the park from Gary along the way. The best part is that it works without service, which I had none the whole time. We loved having Gary along so much that we felt a slight sadness when we left the park and Gary. Seriously, we joked about inviting Gary to our family Christmas, it was so enjoyable. I look forward to future trips we can use the app for.

SO GLAD WE GOT THIS. We purchased this app after reading a recommendation for it on Tripadvisor and are so glad we did. The information he gave us enriched our trip to Yellowstone and Grand Teton so much! We almost went on one of the guided tours through the National park and we all agreed that this was WAY better. We could have the convenience and privacy of being in our own car, but still feel like we had a guide taking us through the park. It was easy to use and we learned so much we wouldn’t have if we didn’t have it. I have already recommended it to others who are going to both parks soon.

Great to have. I have used this app on tow separate occasions. The first being at Yellowstone and Grand Teton NP and the second being at Zion and Bryce Canyon NP. They have made both trips much better for all the commentary and tips they provide. It is far better to listen to this tour than listening to music. Speaking of which, if you are to play music, the guide will lower the volume of your music and speak over it when providing commentary. I personally like this rather than it completely stopping my music. I hope the list of tours expand to have more national parks. Request: as someone from Miami, FL, it is nice that the city has its own guide with the Florida Keys. I would like it if there was a separate guide for any of the South Florida NP; preferably, Everglades.

Best way to explore Maui. We love this app! We used the Maui bundle. Saved a ton of money by not purchasing tours and were able to go at our own pace without dealing with other people on a tour. The information was great, both practical and interesting. So many things we would have missed if we didn't have this app pointing out great things to do. Even when we were just driving around or to a particular location (not a tour destination in particular), we would put the app on to hear the commentary and learn about other places we want to go. We refer to the guide as the "Gypsy Guy " and we love him! I will recommend to everyone traveling to Maui!!

Yellowstone and Grand Teton Tour. Great guide! This changed our trip significantly as we didn’t have to do much research ahead of time, and the trip was much more efficient - we could just leave in the morning and follow along with the tour recommendations, pull-puts for sites, walks along boardwalks, geysers, hikes, etc. We probably saw a lot more of the park than we would have without the tour. And learned much more. And the whole family (including two younger kids) loved learning about the history, geology, hydrothermal structures, plants, animals, etc. I highly recommend the Yellowstone and Grand Tetons guided tours, especially Yellowstone! We will definitely use these guides for future trips.

Central Maui Tour. We love Gypsy tours but found the Central Maui tour lacking. The directions near the airport to turn for the Central tour were lacking/ confusing. We ended up taking the Road to Hana as the instructions were unclear. The Narrator mentioned the Needle ( Turn left) but then said stay straight for the central valley and Road to Hana and Volcano we got completely confused… but eventually found our way, when we got to the State park entrance for the “ Needle” we found it to be closed, as was the museum on the way out of the valley. We did stop at the Plantation in our out way back and that did not disappoint. Might be an idea to clarify those directions close to the airport to avoid confusion and suggest folk check State park open: closure as this can be a issue, we had no idea the Needle was in a state park… should have guessed! Oh well we enjoyed the drive but wanted to give feedback.

Florida Keys tour - Enjoyable, Informative & User Friendly!. We are so glad we purchased this tour. It’s a great way for first time visitors to the Florida Keys to get a lay of the land. For starters, our tour narrator was upbeat, had a very clear voice, was easy to listen to and he was pretty funny! The tour is designed to appeal to people of all ages. Among the descriptions along the route were interesting factoids, fun and educational attractions, restaurants, history and geology of the Keys. He even told us what kind of seafood was in season to try. You can play the tour both east to west …and in reverse order. If all the tours are this good, we’ll be back to buy others in a heartbeat!

Yellowstone and Mt Rushmore. I had the best intentions of doing ALL the research for our trip but you know what they say…then a friend recommended this app. Going forward every road trip I take I will check if the route is included in a GyPSY guide. We leaned so much and saw so many things we would have never known about. It also prompted some fun discussions and kept the tensions at bay avoiding all the “where do we turn? And what is the importance of this place ?” Note that you need to download the tour as it is driven by GPS and does not require cell phone service - which is not available in most National Parks and some of the more rural areas. Highly, highly recommend - it will make your road trip so much better!!!

Must have app!. I went to Yellowstone and Grand Teton with 3 friends this past week. I heard about this app and debating getting it. But it was probably the best $15 I spent for this trip! I loveddddd how it gives you so much information about the parks as you drive. It allowed us to see things that we probably never would have seen because we wouldn’t have known to stop or turn. It’s also fantastic bc you can download it and it was super helpful for navigating when I had no signal in areas of the parks. I know for sure in the future I’ll be using this resource again when I go on a trip to an area that’s in here! Thanks!

GET THE APP, YOU WON’T REGRET IT!!. My husband and I are big road trippers, even on vacation, so when we went to Hawaii on our honeymoon we planned to drive around and see as much as we could. The concierge at our hotel recommended this app for the road to Hana, we were initially reluctant to pay for the tour but it ended up being the best decision! The guide lets you know good places to stop and also gives you a history of the island. I can’t recommend it enough! My only complaint is that they don’t have more destinations. If anyone from the company reads these reviews, we’re going to Scotland soon and would love an audio tour for our trip… just saying :)

Highly Rated for Road to Hana. This app is great for Road to Hana. His suggestions were spot on! The information on the locations worked very well for us. We went past Hana as suggested, and we weren’t disappointed! My only suggestion (and this would get him the extra star) is that he could have told us the stops on the way back, not just on the way in. We skipped a few stops because of rain. We wanted to get back to them on the way out. Don’t get me wrong. The commentary about the history of humans in Hawaii was fascinating (a Reader’s Digest version), and we listened to it closely. However, he could drop in a quick comment on where the stops are on the way out.

Don’t skip…Worth the purchase!. I’m in the car now from leaving the road to Hana and this app made the trip so pleasant. Not only are you getting directions but also warnings of tight curves, one lane bridges or anything you might not know to look for. The guide has a pleasant voice and even tells jokes like you were on a personal tour! We knew what places to stop at and for how long. He even had tips for how to handle motion sickness if that’s an issue. I can’t speak highly enough of this app! The ride home was full of island history that was interesting to hear. If you’re not sure whether to get this app, I promise you, you will not regret using it.

Worth every penny! Best travel app! It’s like I have my own personal tour guide with me.. I’ve used the Maui, Hawaii tour and I’ve bought the west USA bundle and this tour app is life changing! It feels like I have my own personal tour guide in the car with me telling me the best spots to stop at and stories about the area. This has upgraded my experience when visiting national parks. The bundles are worth it if you’re on a road trip. I love this app. It’s worth every penny. It’s so much better than spending the time to read up on each spot and I like that it doesn’t require an internet connection. He makes sure I never miss a turn!

Great Ocean Road-Fantastic!. I am so very glad I learned about Gypsy Guide as it really enhanced my experience of the Great Ocean Road. It’s informative without being at all stuffy or overlong. He is humorous while he talks about, history, flora/fauna, culture, and other interesting tidbits. He is also great about alerting the driver to upcoming sights, left or right turns, size of parking lots, where the sight falls on the “must see” scale, and about how long it will take for an average length visit. Such a value add. I love how it uses gps to know precisely where you are so is always referring to what you are seeing or are about to see. Highly recommend.

Excellent!!!. We highly recommend this App- just returned from a week in Banff/ Jasper and can’t say enough good about all the positive experiences. It provides excellent GPS coordination turn by turn when google maps and phone signals fail! Even knowing when the big horn sheep will be licking the road! Our guide , we named him Barry, talks in detail about the rock formations, animals, key points to look for, pullovers that are not to be missed along with tips on where to park! He details hikes with what to expect and duration including intensity - We will miss driving around PA without him tomorrow ! Do yourself a favor and download this App before your trip! The best $20.- ever spent!!

Arches & Canyonland. Awesome and well worth the money! You won’t regret it. The tour began in the city of Moab and then continued to either Arches or canyonlands. The tour followed the car and started in which ever park we started in. The tour guide would give information about stops we should or could make if we had time, and what we would see if we chose to stop. If we chose not to stop, it continued on to the next site. I don’t think an organized tour could have been better. In areas where there was nothing to see, the tour guide would give us history surrounding the area. Wherever we go, we will see if there is a gypsy tour available.

Fantastic Yellowstone Companion. In a place where cell phone service is nonexistent and tour books leave one person battling readers’ carsickness while the other person tries to drive the rental car while also looking frantically for moose, this app has been a terrific companion and trusted guide for our trip to GTNP and YNP. Having it accurately track your location via GPS without cell service has been essential, and initially we even relied on it to navigate the parks. We didn’t know the narrator’s name so we started calling him Wilford Brimley because his voice is so soothing and trustworthy, and we found ourselves saying repeatedly, “If Wilford recommends it, we’re doing it!” You won’t regret buying this app, and we’ll definitely be buying more tours in the future.

Made our trip so much smoother. We had a trip to Yellowstone planned and then the park closed. We used the app for the Badlands, Black Hills, and Tetons. On our last possible day to see Yellowstone we were able to be there, and this guide made packing as much as we could into our day, possible. We eventually looked up the guide’s name (Rick) so we could say, “Thank you, Rick” for good directions or “Rick was so spot-on with that stop!” Once we left the perimeter of the tours, my daughter started imitating Rick’s voice to keep the drive interesting. “Up here we are going to encounter…” It totally made our trip and meant a lot less research for me as the one in charge of the trip. Highly recommend!!

Must have for a trip to Canadian Rockies. Just used this on our week long trip to Banff, Jasper, Lake Louise and Yoho. It was awesome! We saw so many great sites we probably would’ve missed if we didn’t have it. There’s no phone service in a lot of the area but the app still works and directs you to all the sights. Love the stories about the area and love how it gives you different options, you can start up anywhere in the map and it’ll direct you to the next sites. Without cell service we would’ve been lost a lot but we always had gypsy to guide us. Will definitely get the other guides when we go to other parks!

Grand Tetons and Yellowstone. This is my very first app review ever- the app is that good! This app is well worth every penny and then some. The family and I took our first trip to Grand Teton National park and up into Yellowstone and I cannot imagine having made this trip without this app. Informative, interesting, and relevant are the words I would use to describe this app. We thoroughly enjoyed and looked forward to hearing the talking points as we drove. We gained so much through this tour and everything was clear and concise. I don’t think we’ll ever go to another national park without purchasing that tour through this app. Get it. You won’t regret it.

Excellent app! Used on Maui.. My family took a trip to Maui recently. We had read about the road to Hana, but I was a bit hesitant to go it alone due to the driving conditions I had read about. It was suggested that we go on an organized tour. This would have set us back several hundred dollars. Instead, I found this app. It was $10. It was an amazing purchase. It worked offline when there was no cell reception on the route. I loved the insider tips along the way as well as the storytelling of Hawaiian history. I highly recommend to anyone taking the road to Hana. And the road itself was very manageable. This app made this drive a reality.

Unreliable, but great the 30% of the time it works. Entertaining and informative stories told as you travel, but super frustrating, because it rarely works. If you aren’t where the guide starts, it won’t turn on, even though it supposedly uses GPS to trigger the snippets of information. You can click on individual clips shown on a map, but the map only shows dots along your route without including names of the towns or highway numbers or names of what they are talking about; only if you luck out and happen to click on the dot corresponding to your location will it resume the narration. You go through this after every stop. A separate person has to struggle with it, instead of enjoying the sights. About 20% of the time stories are repeated while traveling nearby tours. The “help” screens are no help at all. When it is working, words sometimes are garbled, like a skipping record. Don’t count on it.

My favorite guide!!!. My family and I took a trip to the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone National Park in 2021 and someone suggested this app to us. We downloaded it and instantly fell in love! We decided to name him Kirk and would always get excited to hear his stories. When our trip was over we were sad to say goodbye to Kirk. Almost a year later, we took a trip to The Grand Canyon and decided we needed our best bud to come along with us. The second “Kirk” started speaking, we felt like we had an old friend back. This app is definitely worth the purchase! Sometimes you might even get to score fun spots most people don’t know about! If you’re a national park fanatic like us, make sure to download this app!
