Disappointing. I got this app with the intent of going paperless utilizing my iPad Pro when out in the field on assignments. I condensed/combined documents for each day’s work into a pdf, then imported it into Good Reader Pro. Some of the pdf’ s had to have annotations made as I went along. I discovered during the first day that after annotating a pdf, then entire document would freeze up and not allow me to go to the next page. Long story short - I had duplicate back-up pdf’s in the Apple Books app. It worked like a charm - annotations and all, so I abandoned Good Reader Pro for the rest of the assignment. I also ran into a couple of bugs and had a couple of questions right after I purchased this app. It took the developer nearly two weeks to respond without really helping to resolve another issue.

Pro is Accurate. Been using the reader version for years. Just purchased the Pro version and couldn't be happier. Had several questions that tech support answered promptly and satisfactorily. Had to copy over 3200 rather large .pdf files from reader edition to Pro edition. Easy and fast!

Not worth buying pro version. I purchased this to utilize the reflow for pdf to text. Copy of this is not supported and isn’t worth the extra price. App constantly crashes when attempting to add photos from GoodReader to iPad.

Allows upgrade of old encryption tech but no password change. If there’s a way to change old PDF encryption passwords, it isn’t obvious. I’ve looked throughout the entire app without finding it.

Very useful. I use this to sign and/or annotate documents. No need to use printer unless signed and filled in documents are needed.

Need True Dark Mode. This app contrary to its description may have a dark mode but not night mode. It only reduces screen brightness. This is not a true dark mode. Dark mode or night mode, would have high contrast, or inverted colors. Unfortunately this app does not offer this option. I can use night mode through my iOS. But it would be good if this feature was embedded in the app itself, as in Kindle and iBook.

Very convenient. The features on this app make referencing materials easy, especially being able to cast two documents at the same time. Moving documents around, and making folders is very easy. I only wish that you could edit text, and that searching within documents started with the page you are currently on, instead of continuing with the next word in order.

Horrible Implementation, no easy sync options.... I don't understand why an app that is supposed to be a good reader is so horribly complicated! Where does one even begin with the lack of Features! This has to be the worst pdf reader that I have ever paid for... There is no easy way to sync this device even though iCloud! You literally have to set up who knows what to actually get it to sync... I wouldn't actually know since it doesn't come with any kind of instructions whatsoever... All I know is that this app was NOT work $13 and I would suggest looking elsewhere if you want ease of use, because this app is not that at all!

GoodReader very good app. GoodReader app is very good, I use it most for playing my music and file.

GoodReader Pro. Awesome product

iPad version will not allow web server option. This used to work so I could set GoodReader as a web server. Now all it does is gives the message WiFi is Off. My wife is in. I tried removing and reinstalling the app. Same issue. It works ok on my iPhone. Just the iPad it doesn’t. Please fix.

Fantastic for academic work. I use GoodReader constantly - every day, near enough. Reading journal articles is a big part of my life, and this app lets me organise them logically, highlight and annotate, view my annotations easily, copy-paste text, and flip from one article to another really easily. It's also possible to do a split-screen, with GoodReader on one side and a notebook app on the other, which is the most efficient and intuitive way I've ever found to take notes while reading. Setting up sync (with Google Drive, in my case) can be a bit trial-and-error at times, but it was well worth it - I know I won't lose my annotations and my archive of articles I've read, whatever happens. GoodReader is one of the few apps I genuinely would be distraught to lose!

icloud issues. I have issues downloading files from external folder from icloud.

1 of best. Seriously one of the best if not the best of the best of its kind. Good support and solidly stable. So many abilities and capabilities. Very stable.

Top Five. GoodReader is one of the most useful apps on my phone. I don’t know what I’d do without it!

One of my most used apps. I’ve been using GoodReader for over 10 years now almost daily. It’s one of my most used apps I own. It’s utilities allow me the flexibility to locate bookmarks for reference, organize several manuals I utilize often and safely keep both personal and professional sensitive documents at my fingertips.

I use it almost every day. I am able to download into the app by printing recipes, then use fingers to expand, it goes into a pdf and opens in GoodReader. Thank you soooo much for the excellent app. I have both the Pro version and the older version. I use both and have many folders in each. I download and keep a copy of different manuals of my appliances and such. Then when I need one I can search in GoodReader and fine it easily.

The Best. GoodReader is my go to app for storing organizing reading and marking up all of my pdf files.

PAY ATTENTION TO THR NEGATIVE REVIEWS‼️. This is a pricy app, and it used to be a USEFUL app back in the early days of iPhone. No longer. Most of the functions can be accomplished on the stock Files app now and frankly most of the formerly useful functions are broken in the expensive digital paper weight. The worse thing about this app? The customer service! Snarky, unprofessional and brainless. I asked a simple question: how come iCloud no longer seamlessly integrates with the app? I can no longer see my iCloud files without a time wasting workaround. I sent an email to support. Got an email 2 days later saying they’d received my email and would get back to me. No one got back to me. I emailed a couple weeks later (after switching to the superior Readdle app!) and said “hey, thanks for the help!” Some ******* named “Yuri” emailed me back saying “I emailed you back in 2 days, that seems reasonable to me!” Yeah, the time frame is reasonable; but they only emailed me to let me know they’d “get back to me” and NEVER addressed my problem. Well, I’m done. Don’t flush your money like I did, this app is a shadow of it’s former self; not only that, there have been no innovations added to the app in a long time. The competition has sonned this app thoroughly! Check out Readdle Documents, PDF Expert or even just the stock Files app and see if they meet your needs. If you must, use the free version. Wish I could get my money back but I’m certain the company lacks the integrity. Anyway, it’s probably already been spent on a Soy Latte! Mealymouthed response from the dev incoming!!

Best PDF reader app out there. GoodReader is hands down the best PDF reader app I’ve ever used on phone or tablet. Been using it for more than 5 years now. Thank you for developing and maintaining such a great app!

Horribly disappointed. Update 2: Still not working. I have resourced to ask others how to make it work. I have not found a person happy with this app. The very few that have this app do not utilize the app full capacity due to the difficulty to make it work and a very substandard tech support. Please, please, do NOT purchase this app. It’s not worth your hard earned dollar! Update: Developer contacted me. I tried to make the app work. Ask him a couple of questions, 6-days ago without any response. I demand a refund or switch to the the regular app. This is app is not, I say again is not $11.00 worth. I agree with JamesF03, this is a great idea with a horrendous execution. This is an app for a person that has too much time on his hand to make it work. I bought it this morning, and in the evening I am still trying to understand how to work with it. Sorry, you miss the flight:( Sorry, I want a refund. I have never seen something so complicated and not user-friendly in my life. Great idea with a horrible execution. The instructions or lack thereof are much to be desired. A lot of words or noise with no practical functionality. This kind of apps MUST have the easy capability to add files from other platforms. With lack of instructions, I have to transfer files one at a time. The part you really lost me was when I was not able to synchronize the files that I had manually and painstakingly transfer from another device. There is no way I would do that on all my linked devices. Instead of making the synchronization fancy and unpractical, you should have used what others use: iCloud, Dropbox, etc. What is the point to be exclusive, if you are not useful. In my professional opinion, you missed the mark to compete and replace iBook, OneNote, Evernote, etc. All that is not worth $11.00. I want a refund. Thanks!

A Real Workhorse!. This was the first true productivity app I purchased for iOS. I still consider it the best after years of use. It is a rare combination of strengths, not just a one trick pony. I really recommend it to anyone with an iOS device that is not just used to play games.

Was 4.5 stars till today!. I have been using GoodReader Pro for about a year now for my crosstitch patterns. I have loved it. Suddenly today, it is VERY glitchy…to the point that it is unusable. It will not respond to or responds very very slowly to using the highlighter & eraser. I then downloaded the update and closed down/restarted my iPad. But it’s continuing to act up. Do you have any suggestions? I am frustrated especially because I am in the midst of a pattern. And, it doesn’t keep my pattern up when I close & reopen the program. It used to open to the pattern and to exactly where I left off when I closed down. In fact, when I placed the program in the background while I wrote this review, it shut the file down. HELP!

Rather not trying to use with apple pencil. I though it is pretty basic function not to recognize finger tips as apple pencil when the pencil is under use. Maybe it is not for this app. Sync system is overly complicated. The organization system would only be appreciated if someone does not have an actual computer to sync with ipad.

Excellent. I started using GoodReader about ten years ago and never looked back. Upgrading to Pro was a no brainer, and I now use this App every single day for storing and organising files, watching videos, listening to music and audio, annotating PDFs etc etc. It has been rock solid from the start and continues to get better and better. Highly recommended for personal and business use. Update- Thank you for very fast and helpful customer service after app crashed after updating and would not open (first time this has ever happened since I began using it every day for many years.) A new version which fixed the problem was available in the App Store within an hour. I really appreciate the customer focus and reliability of this company, and the amazing features of the App.

Allow more open tabs. Feature request: could you please introduce “profile” switching feature. Each profile can have it’s own set of open tabs. So it can be easy to switch between different sets of pdf files depending on their common topic. (or at least make the max number of open tabs configurable)

Worth the price!. By far the best document viewer/PDF editor around. I have a few apps but GoodReader is the best by far and the best to use.

Long time user. I’ve been using good reader ever since it started, its ideal for iPad great database, as well as a very powerful markup tool. It will also keep up-to-date with your online storage. Recommend it

pdf annotation needs improvement. Very good app. Improvements: I use apple pencil to annotate pdf in my presentation, but not very pleasant. Menu is not convenient for free hand. Most important: please ignore finger/hand annotation. Everytime after annotation, I have to save the file and then move to the next slide.

no customize color. It's so shame that can't customize the text and background color!!

Needs Improvements. The developer made its customers paid twice which is unethical. Once you create the password to launch app, you can not change it or disable it. All encrypted PDF files would be permanently encrypted if exported and open in another app. Developer is urged to adopt good business practices.

Does not support up-to-date network standards. Product states it connects to SMB; however, if your server only supports newer, more secure, standards, or older less secure standards are turned off you won’t be able to connect. No SMB 2, 2.1 and 3 are not supported.

Must have App. I love this app and use it constantly. I didn’t hesitate to upgrade. It would have been nice for the data to have automatically transferred but I’m grateful that I can still use it on all of my devices regardless of OS version. My only issue is the relatively complicated way it allows syncing (thus 4 stars), but at least it does allow for syncing.
