Will never use this again!. I used Cleo a lot about a year ago and it was great. Never had any issues. But I downloaded it to use again about a week ago. I added my new bank information. Paid the $5.99 for Cleo plus to be able to get $100 versus the $30 advance however what it doesn’t tell you is you might still only get the $30. That’s frustrating but I move past it and get to the $30 advance opting for the immediate availability option for $3.99. Then I’m waiting. After a day still no deposit. So I’m poking around the app and come to find out they deposited into an old account I no longer have access to. Even though I put my new account information into the app. So I do what anyone would and I reach out. That was 3 days ago. I still have not received any response even though I have reached out multiple times. And of course there is no number to call. It’s just chat. So it is safe to say I will never use this app again. And I will never recommend it to anyone again. I’m now just hoping I can cancel the Cleo plus tomorrow when the advance is supposed to be repaid as I cannot cancel it with an active advance.

Absolutely no support. **Update** I finally received some help and the issue seems to be resolved, however I’m only updating my review from 1 star to 3 stars due to the customer service response time, they really need to work on the support for this app, if it weren’t for the customer service I would give this app/company a 4 or 5 stars. Let me begin by saying I don’t like to ‘review bomb’ an app or service but I’m at the end of my rope! I cannot get any help whatsoever and this is my last ditch effort. I used to give think this app was amazing but I’m recently having issues of trying to withdraw from my account with Cleo, every time I try to withdraw I get an error with absolutely no information; it just says to contact support. I contact support and it’s crickets, this isn’t the first time I’ve tried to contact them about issues and they never respond, I always get told support will be back in an hour, that I’ll receive emails that I never receive. I usually get left to figure out my issues on my own but now that I have tied up 250$ in this app it’s annoying and I’m prepared to cancel my plus subscription and take all my money out, whenever I actually get support. I’m beginning to not trust this app.

Scam. Honestly this is a whole scam, they make you pay for a subscription before you can even see how much of a cash advance you qualify for . I gave all my info and even paid for the subscription with my debit card, once the payout screen came it told me to re enter my debit card and I did only for it to tell me they don’t support my bank???? That makes 0 sense when they took the money directly from my account!! On top of that, you have to pay $4 just to have the $ sent to your debit card otherwise you have to wait FOUR working days to have it deposited into your account. I called customer support and the phone literally just rings, it says online if you don’t pay for an ANNUAL subscription then you have to pay for support over the phone ??? It makes no sense at all honestly they genuinely just want your money, not sure why anyone would be on with doing something like this to ppl that are in need of money but it’s really messed up’.. Now I have to wait 5 days before calling my bank and telling them the $5.99 transaction was completely fraudulent. If you can, please stay away from this app and save yourself some time and money. I wasted $5 that I needed as part of my rent money now I need that plus the money I was intending to borrow, waste of time, a. complete scam.

Is it even looking at my bank account?. I downloaded Cleo and connected it to my bank. As far as income, it did see what money I get from my job but it wasn’t detecting the deposit my boyfriend makes to my account. So I tried adding it in. While adding an income it was showing amounts in dollars ($), which was correct, and then once it was added it was showing only that income as pounds (£). Next was my bills. I pay my rent online but for some reason my rent was no where to be found in my list of transactions. So I tried to add it. I would go through the prompts and it wouldn’t add it no matter what I did. So I ended up using another bill and adding my rent amount so at least the numbers would be in there. Okay so time to set up a budget. The numbers Cleo were pulling made no sense to what is actually in my bank account currently since all bills have been paid this month. (I DID put the next due date correctly on all my bills) it was making absolutely no sense every step of the way. Such a great concept, and great advertising to make it seem like it works but it didn’t work at all for me. What a disappointment.

Not very VoiceOver compatible. So I got this app hoping to get a cash advance. I’m totally blind and use voiceover on two phones. One of them is running iOS 15 point something, and the other is running iOS 16 point something. When I go to check the box that says that if you’re having trouble that Cleo can take your payments in installments, it won’t check it, but it will go to a page explaining that it will take your installments instead of a whole lump sum when you want to pay it back. also, when I go to check the box that is giving me the terms and conditions of getting the cash advance, it goes to the terms and conditions page, it doesn’t check the box at all. I tried this on both phones. Same result. So they took my five dollars and 99 subscription fee, and I can’t even get my advance because the app is not very accessible with voiceover. This really needs to be fixed.

Frustrating. I used to love this app and recommended it to everyone. Now, the app can’t connect to my bank account so all the money I’ve been saving using cleo’s wallet feature I can’t get back. I’ve tried browsers, visiting the website on a computer instead of the app, etc. I’ve reconnected my bank a hundred times. Looks like I will never get my own savings back. Not sure if the app developers have never made an app before or if they have just moved on to other projects and don’t care about this one, but the app is literal garbage. I’ve been paying for the subscription too, and it’s honestly not worth it. There are better apps out there. Don’t use Cleo. As soon as I figure out how I can get MY money out of this stupid app, I will be canceling everything and deleting it, and telling everyone that I previously recommended to get Cleo to delete it as well. If you want your money stolen, use this app! The roasting feature is funny and it’s cool to have help budgeting but what’s the point if all the money saved using this app isn’t accessible. Makes no sense at all. Worst budgeting app you can get.

I’m still going to try.... I was recommended Cleo by a friend who loves how user friendly it is and how it can roast her, and I thought it would be great for my chronic overspending problem. I downloaded it and immediately starting having problems. First it took awhile to connect my bank account and now here’s two of the same one. Second, when adding my income (which I had to do manually, as I couldn’t choose one of the suggested ones) it was in pounds, not dollars, and it would NEVER save. Third, making my own budget (as the one Cleo suggested was just not gonna work for me) was difficult because it always said I didn’t have enough money to cover my spending. I went in vacation this month and spent a lot of money, but I wasn’t hoping on starting the budget this month. I guess I’ll try again next month and see if I have any luck. Also, when I was trying to identify bills, it was next to impossible as I have multiple iTunes bills and I couldn’t specify which ones update when or choose prices. Suggestions: Make it easier to view which bank accounts are linked. Fix currency. Have a reset button for the entire app. Make a button when creating a budget on when it should start (like it will start when the next month comes around). Focus more on working on upkeep and not just making it yell at me. Let me manually input prices when it comes to bills. Right now I’m not very happy with Cleo, but I really want it to work. I will try again next time I get paid so we will see.

I could do this manually in my bank’s app or on their website, but Cleo does it more efficiently, in a format that’s easily digestible. And, Spendr is easily one of the most useful tools the app has to offer; it’s a quick way to evaluate purchases you’ve made, which is super useful for someone like me, who feels guilty when they spend money. Once I played Spendr, I realized that most of my output was just going to unavoidable costs and I wasn’t spending as frivolously as my mind was telling me. Still, Cleo helped me hone in on things I *could* cut back on. Love you Cleo 💋

Long story short: Being on that government income is notorious for having a lot of Financial red tape 🔴 With Cleo, my financial life has gone from 😡 to 😇, and I am so grateful for using this app! And thanks to the recent help of the support team, my issues have been 98% solved, give or take a few more loose hanging strings. But First off on the list, Cleo is no longer running at a 🐌 pace. That is fantastic! Secondly, there are no more issues with my bills; I totally fixed those, needed just a little tweak. Fifthly, I ❤️ my Cleo Wallet. It is working as it should. And last but not least, I have a TERRIBLE habit of overbudgeting, but Cleo can keep me accountable when I spend. I want this app to keep doing well. Misleading. You guys make it all sound good in the application for an upgrade, I put on tgere I was self employed and I can verify income through my different banks and I can upload statements but you guys tried to have me sign up and did for direct deposits. If you can’t accommodate me with your services then let me know, don’t take my money and have me believe that I am going to get better credit and cash advances are basically gaurenteed to an amount you can handle which I can handle a basic advance, I’m not going to connect my bigger accounts because of this problem tha seems to be a trend on most of these sites. I am a little upset and if uploading my statements doesn’t work then I will have to cancel my account and I would hope to get a refund but that’s why I changed it to 1 month payment cause I’m not going to pay for services that do not follow through with there statements. I believe I saw you guys are affiliated with Money Lion and if I’m wrong then great but I just deleted my accounts there because I was told a lot of things and promised that it would work and after a week and a half there was no charge, so if you are I really have to go. Love!!!. if you're the kind of person that needs a little smack in the face every once in a while in order to behave, this app is definitely for you. it's SUPER easy to use and set up, including easy-to-access email verification that involves absolutely no manual switching of apps, it's literally two buttons to press and you're done. it's aesthetically pleasing if that's important to you, and feels like a really honest friend helping you out with your money. it roasts you if you spend too much moola and is set up as a personal conversation so it's genuinely fun to use. the only things i was bummed about is that if you don't get your paycheck through venmo, you have to manually enter your paycheck every time you get it. it might just be a me problem but that's a little frustrating. you should also know that it has some crude language so i wouldn't consider it to be family friendly. other than those two things, i think it's a great resource to save money and track your spending!

Fun!. This is a great app! Best thing: the sense of humor and such a serious business. Let’s face it, money is no joke and causes stress and tears. But cleo is constantly sending me quirky messages and updates on my bank accounts’ transactions. I downloaded it in hopes of a cash advance. I’m all signed up and paying for VIP stat but I am yet to even utilize the cash advance. I can’t wait to check out everything they have to offer! I’m also really hoping I get picked for a giveaway. 😛 I have literally the worst luck ever and was just told that my tenants of 6 years are closing on a home of their own. So I’m sad because now I need to find someone else that I hope can even remotely fill their shoes of amazingness and also need some goodness in my life. Also ADHD brain here but I am a millennial and I absolutely love the aesthetic of Cleo! Us millennials go for a certain “new-age”/ modern vibe and they are just sending it!

Fun but not super helpful. I enjoy the app, but I can’t change the names of my bills. So some of them just say withdrawal debit. And I have to go in and manually change things so that not everything is an “eating out” expenditure. She kept telling me that it was a high category and I was shocked about it until I realized all my bills were there. I also wish I could set up knowledge facts. Like a $7 transaction is probably not gas, but the same place I might spend $25 in gas. So I have to manually enter each one and hope I don’t swipe it as one transaction. All the ads I had seen were how adaptable she was, but you have to follow their cues to get any intelligent response. And every time I turn around she’s asking me to pay her money. Which I get. It’s advertisement. But at the end of every prearranged “conversation” it always leads to adding Cleo as a bill. Which still doesn’t let you change the name of the transaction from “withdrawal debit ####”

If I could zero I could. I am trying to pay you all and go on about my day and you all are purposely making that hard. You have been falsely reporting to the credit bureaus and have not been responding back. I have had you removed from my transunion credit and am currently working with equifax to do the same. You all will be served by my lawyer very shortly for purposely and unlawfully reporting to the credit bureaus all while not allowing me to pay the balance and close this account. Do not get their credit builder card it is a scam and they WILL ruin your credit. I have been trying to pay this account since August 23,2023. They reported again on the 28th of that month the wrong amount as well as have blocked me from making the payment! These ppl are monsters and being that they are in the UK a lot of the civil things that America has to protect your money does not touch them but like I said my lawyer is making arrangements to have them shut down. I am not the first and we all have talked to multiple ppl who have gone through the same thing! Please be careful and aware!

Fraudulent App. I’ve used Cleo in the past but deleted my account due to the small loans that were offered. I decided to reinstall Cleo because I needed a small loan until my payday. After downloading the app and creating another account - I had to pay $6 in order to use the pay day advance option. I paid the $6 and all of a sudden I keep getting error messages when trying to cash out my pay day advance loan. I’ve been trying for the past several hours and even reached out to customer support who claimed I had another account and had to wait 24 hours. Cleo mislead me and made me pay a $6 subscription fee in order to get an advance that I was never able to receive! Incredibly misleading and fraudulent. I’ll give Cleo 24 hours to amend this issue before I file complaints with the BBB, CFPB, and Californias Attorney Generals Office. I’ll also be contacting my bank to reverse the charges of the subscription I was fraudulently charged with. It’s unfortunate but something needs to be done about these predatory behaviors. If you can’t offer users a loan then don’t mislead them into paying a subscription fee.

My overall opinion….. This app used to be so much better than it is now I had no problems at that time. But this year it’s been nothing but problems. And I mean problem after problem. I’ve had to make multiple different accounts to try to get it to work like it should it’s still having difficulties I even paid for plus memberships & the credit builder memberships just to have them basically lock me out of my account. So, basically they locked me out of the account and now I’m out the money that I paid for both of those memberships (multiple times) & now I can’t even use that said account. Therefore I had to set up a new account … again & I am still having difficulties with getting any cash advance at all…setting up credit builder …any of it ….if I don’t get it fixed or handled today I am no longer going to be using this app at all and I’ve been using this app for well….since they first released this app. #NotSatisfied #Wastedmymoneyfornothing

Cleo is late.. period. Whether it’s deposits hitting my account, or Cleo canceling savings transfers from my checking account, she’s always a day late. I’m notified at minimum 12 hours after a deposit hits (usually 24 hours later). She sets an amount to transfer from checking into cleos savings wallet, and cancels it the next day because I’ve spent money. Of course I’ve spent money, it’s my checking account! Even when I have Cleo set up to round up my dollar for every card purchase I make, it isn’t instant. It is set for the following day, and she cancels these too when too much money is spent. I pay for the membership which I’m now canceling. For a (very small might I add) salary advance, it takes seven days to do another one. They call this a cool off period. However, on the 6th day after you pay your advance back, Cleo tells you to check back later that day if you want another advance... however I’d you paid Cleo back at 6 am, you really can’t get another salary advance the day she is telling you to check back. Her days are registering as hours to her.. you have to wait 24 more hours until 6 am the next FAU to get the advance. I know this is a lot of information, but people like this app for what reason?? She’s 24 hours behind with absolutely EVERYTHING that goes on in your checking account. I’ll be cancelling and deleting the app. 0 stars if I could

Worst customer service ever. I loved this app at first, even though my account balance was very slow to update. Now the account information has actually backdated, instead of updated... in the middle of August my transactions since the middle of July suddenly vanished and the last transaction showing is July 19th. Miraculously they were still able to take out my monthly payment and advance repayment 🙄 I have sent four total messages to the Cleo support team, which is almost impossible to get to that screen. No answer on any of them. I contacted my bank, Capital One, and was told that Cleo does not meet their “safety standards” and they will no longer allow them to connect to my account. I want my monthly fee refunded, at this point I am just so angry that to connect with the support team, instead of just reading help articles took a ridiculous amount of time and that no one will answer me! I have been looking on social media and cannot find them anywhere, either. I would be very careful before downloading this app, not only due to the customer service but because of the “safety standard” issue

There’s always a catch. So I’ve been using Cleo for quite some time now it’s been a little over three months and there’s a few things that I’ve noticed while using it. So for one, they don’t help you build credit they just give you cash advances but if you’re late on a payment, it reports to the credit bureau, how funny is that? Also I wanted to point out that when you make payments on time the amount they give you gets higher so let’s say you get approved for $50 and you pay that three times every month it’ll get higher to $75-$100 and maybe more. What I’ve noticed about this was there was a time when I couldn’t pay the hundred dollars so I had to extend the payment a day ahead. Since I did that my amount that I could borrow dropped. and it went all the way back to $20 I think that’s whack considering that I’ve made every single payment on time so if you ever need it extend a payment just know that all that money that they gave you that was a high offer is going to go back to $20. I mean they still give you money so that’s the good part but I wish they didn’t do this and I would rate it five stars if they didn’t do that.

Download Dave and get Charlie instead. $5.99 a month for what??? I was approved for a loan in August. I paid it back on time. In September I tried to get a loan again, but I wasn’t eligible. No real reason why. My income was the same. Nothing changed. So I decided to cancel. It seemed that if I cancelled my subscription within 48 hours of being charged, I would be refunded the subscription fee within 3-5 days. I was never refunded. “Customer service” said I didn’t qualify because I took out a loan before. And they only refund the subscription cost for the newest customers. So I paid $5.99 for the second month for absolutely NOTHING. basically you get messages every time you spend any money. What drew me in was thinking I would have an option to get loans from time to time if needed. And that was going to be a big help. But I guess you qualify one month, and maybe not the next. It doesn’t make sense. I will stick with DAVE. It’s $1 a month and it has helped me from time to time when needed. Your customer service was pretty rude. Just get Charlie for free and download Dave for small loans if needed. Charlie is basically the same thing as Cleo, but not a rip off.

Absolute Scam Artists. I did like the clever jokes of the app however, they are just a bunch of scam artists. I only took out 2 advances paid the last one back within 2 days which I guess messed everything up. On top of the very small advance they charge membership fees but in order to cancel said fees you have to pay them up front? So they wanted me to pay back membership fees and just kept saying I never paid my advance back when I did. This was a year ago and they hit my card every single month for $5.99 membership fee then try to say I still owe them? In the last year they have collected a ton from me which is not for an advance and I keep saying they have to cancel my membership but then they try to say I owe money. Customer service is pointless and can’t speak English, they will just forever charge my card $5.99 and at this point THEY don’t even know why! I called my bank and I told Cleo my next call is my lawyer. It’s absolutely ridiculous they get away with robbing people $5.99 at a time.

Wow…. Maybe the app is smarter than my bank but the people working there are not. Signed up 2 months ago and never got my card. Requested a new card - twice - and they weren’t able to ship it to me. Oh and they can’t ship to P.O. Boxes! It’s not a package it’s and envelope. Needless to say, I am closing down my account but now they are telling me that it will take up to 45 days to get my money back!!! What??? The app itself is so difficult to use in my opinion. My first reaction is that is so messy! You can’t talk to a live person so you have to deal with an idiot bot that is not set up correctly. Can’t take easy demands. These last two months have been more stressful than worth it. I would have given 0 stars for this app if it wasn’t for customer service. They do get back to you - in a couple of hours! Maybe I will give it more stars if I can get my money back in time. I don’t know about you, but I don’t have $400 I can just have laying around. I will continue using SELF that hadn’t screwed me once in 3 1/2 years. This feels more like a scam than anything else.

Total Scam.!.!.!.. Don’t pay for the subscription whatever you do it’s a total scam to take your money. This is how there scam works… they green light you saying your eligible for a cash advance all you need to do to get said advance is pay for the subscription then verify your all your contact information is correct. Sounds simple enough until you realize they won’t ever let you check the box saying your information is correct it just keeps making you check it over and over never allowing you to move forward thus keeping you from getting the advance they said you were eligible for. When in fact they were only lying to get the subscription payment and undoubtedly then hoping you don’t remember to cancel so they can charge you for the more expensive subscription when yours runs out. Then try to get a refund lol there help line says to get Cleo to help you cancel to get your refund only to have Cleo tell you she can’t and directs you back to the help line… lol so that’s a scam that was completely designed to hopefully have you just get so frustrated you give up and let them keep the money.

stupid wAste of money. lures people to sign up and immediately pay membership fee by offering the only tempting benefit that is appealing anyone to sign up in the first place which is cleo cover. it allows you to open account and hAs all the credentials it needs and account opens and charges your account instantly with no issue . when you attempt to use the cleo cover with is the reason why most people sign up for this pointless app , they say you are not eligible and make up a wierd reason that makes no sense . i am ineligible because i began a setup through the app once previously but never opted for the cover and deleted my account bc there is nothing else it does . that is known by cleo as a “ duplicate account” from their records. funny that is has no issue with your duplicated account signing up and getting opened and have no issues charged an immediate fee to this “duplicate account” . also you will never get a question answered or issue resolved as it appears the only employee that cleo app is a chat bot that repeats the same 5 stupid questions over and over unrelated to your question. emailed the “support” chat a week ago and got no reply or indication that a live person even works in this company . Beware!!!!

Skeptical? Don't be!. So I will be the first to tell you, I thought this was another payday loan type of deal for emergencies. I was so very wrong. The AI on this app is amazing. It's like carrying a little devil and a little angel, enticing you to spend it or telling you why you should save it, all in your pocket. To better describe , If you don't have many friends, it's almost like having a best friend. Except this one hilariously roasts you, but also cares about your financial health. Great stuff, networking and backend needs work. I’ve been a long time Cleo user (since the Facebook messenger days), and I’ve always enjoyed your service. It’s a fun UI and lets you get really cool insights into your spending. I do have some issue: 1. When reconnecting my bank account, it was taking forever for Cleo to “import/collect transactions” so I kept having to press the X after 10 minutes (said it would take only a few minutes) and 1 hour later I see have have my bank account linked 5 times! I had to keep trying because I didn’t think it was working but apparently it did, ALL 5 times lol. No biggie, thought I could delete the 4 duplicates. Nope. The trash can button next to the accounts doesn’t work. Unless of course, this button also has a delay of 1 hour. Luckily there is a “hide account” option so that is a workaround for now, but would rather not have to do that. Otherwise, the improvements made by the team are always great.

It’s kinda crap in my opinion. You do this stupid cool off period and for 7 days when st first it says 5 days so your really not there to help when help is needed and my last loan was paid back 7 days ago today, actually 8 counting the day I paid it back and now it’s still saying check back later today for a advance cause of the cool off period and you shouldn’t be the one deciding what can be handled for paying back!! The people who pay for your services should decide for themselves because they know what they can and can not afford. So making someone wait longer then 7 days to help them when they need the help is ridiculous! Dave only made me wait 3 days so I apparently would of been better off with the Dave app. I only changed to this one because it was more options for money amounts but it seems I made the wrong choice. I will not pay $6 a month to not be able to get help I need when I need it. It’s said since yesterday to check back later. Check in less then a day and it’s been over a day it has said that!! So I should be able to get it now!!

DO NOT USE. STEALING MONEY FROM ME MONTHS AFTER TRYING TO DELETE ACCOUNT. AN ABSOLUTE SCAM!!!! I have contacted support NUMEROUS times in an effort to remove my bank account and delete my account altogether. No one got back to me for several months, and when Jacob finally did contact me, I thought he had gotten everything taken care of. Silly me for trusting anyone from Cleo for a second. I get emails monthly about $5.99 being transferred from my account to Cleo Wallet, which is supposed to be a savings account. However, I have no such thing. They’re taking money from me and there’s nothing I can do about it. I can’t get into my own account because it doesn’t send me the verification email to verify who I am. Jacob claimed it was a fee for Cleo plus, but I unsubscribed from that already. There is NO REASON I should be getting charged, and then after bringing it to their attention, getting charged AND THEN not even being able to get into the account anymore. I am furious because all I want is to be rid of everything to do with Cleo who is just a seemingly permanent leech on my bank account. Please save yourselves from my predicament and just don’t even involve yourself with them.

Bills & spending categories. First of all- I love this app. What a fun way to track money! HOWEVER- there are a few issues I’m running into Namely Bills: I pay rent to my roommate via Venmo, however I also use Venmo to pay friends for drinks, going out, a coffee, etc. Cleo isn’t able to distinguish between individual Venmo payments, so she categorizes ALL Venmo payments as bills and will not let me manually break them up into other categories (ie.- eating out, shopping, etc.) Which leads me to the next issue: Cleo isn’t able to create more spending categories- she has basic ones (ie.- eating out, shopping, expenses, bills etc.) But to be most functional I would love for the app to add the ability for the consumer to make their own individual spending categories. For example, my puppy is a big expense category for me, but lumping her expenses in with all my other expenses doesn’t let me track as well what I am spending in each category of MY life. As I said, love this app- but these few minor changes would really take this app to the next level!

Issue STILL not resolved & keep getting run around. So I’ve been using Cleo for a while now and have never EVER had any issues till this last week. And let me tell you, this is really ridiculous. I’ve been going back and forth with the customer service through the app via messaging and it seems not a single person I’ve chatted with knows what’s wrong and no one can fix it. I was told about 7 days ago that a ticket was being submitted for a tech to look at and then a couple days later I was told another ticket was being submitted and here I am still with no resolutions a couple days later. Cleo keeps saying I need to connect my bank when my bank is already connected and they withdrew the amount I owed the same day it said my account wasn’t connected. So I don’t understand why this is till an issue and I just feel I’m being pushed around cause no one knows how to fix this. It’s honestly ridiculous and I’ve never had customer service take this long to get to a resolution. I really really love Cleo and would love to continue to use it but if this keeps happening I don’t see the point in having it. Once the issue is fixed I will gladly rate it 5 stars but at this point it’s not holding up to a 5 star rating

The English on this app is strange in places. The app is decent but as far as some of the English goes is off. I got an email saying my account is no more. Like what… no more? I closed it but it’s weary with the way some words are used or put together it makes me think where was this app developed? And how our information is being used and stored and what else is retained and when and how is our personal information destroyed. Considering not knowing where this app was developed and where it may me running out of makes me feel uncomfortable with the English being off like the email saying your account is no more. With an alien emoji. No one running an app using English that way makes you think twice about any and all of our information that we had given and If their servers with our personal information is being used in the US or running out of the US? Because if there running their business out of the US with written English that way which we don’t use a sentence like that “your account is no more.” I would tell anyone to run away from this app.

Bye Cleo!. I found this app through a social media influencer (first mistake) and thought it looked both interesting and useful. It was, for about a day, then it became the app I most hated, taking up space on my phone until I finally deleted it. What happened? Cleo happened. The voice this app adopts is... obnoxious. It’s combative, and not in a good or helpful way. You know that mean girl who sits behind you in art history who clearly feels superior to you and always has an opinion, especially about you? That’s Cleo. Cleo is also your mom when you were a teenager trying to sneak back into the house at 4 AM. It’s a weird voice to take for an app that’s supposed to be helping us, not (constantly) chiding us, but Cleo seems to think this tone may stir some people into better managing their finances. It doesn’t. It makes us abhor the app instead, so much that every time I saw a message come in from this app, I instinctively swatted it away. Also, you need to pay a subscription (of course *eye roll*) to use some of the app’s more advanced features. If you refuse to, which I did, you basically have a snarky byatch in your pocket providing the most basic account management functions which anyone of us can perform on our own sans the added lip service. I’ll take that, thanks. Bye Cleo!

Do NOT get this app. I strongly advise against downloading this app especially if you don’t plan to use it a lot, you will not get the full services of the app and will have to pay a $5.99 subscription fee for the full services and if you don’t cancel the subscription within the first 7 days of signing up you will not get a refund and will be told by customer service there’s nothing they can do and it’s company policy to not give you a refund for a charge that you might want back when you want to cancel it out of those 7 days and it doesn’t matter if you forgot to cancel it and 7 days have passed and the charge was accidental you still will be told there’s nothing they can do, you will receive no notification or warning that an upcoming bill from Cleo for the subscription is coming up until it’s too late and it’s taken out of your bank account, and even then when it comes to the $100 spot or loan that comes with the full services when your pretty low on money and you want to prevent your account from going into overdraft it’s a chance you may not qualify for it. All in all it’s the most terrible experience especially when the customer service takes days until they finally respond and even then it’s not helpful and just repetitive of what they say and they won’t fully talk to you or try to work something out.

What’s really going on. Although I am grateful for the opportunity to get an advance from Cleo . It’s always something when I first applied my offer was for 70 . My account was negative but I went and found the fee to pay then the amount was only for 20 dollars and has been . I am charged 3.99 when I get advance, my amount has not increased ! Cleo always quoting me old stuff or my overall balance which my bank chime has told me I am not negative hundreds that’s how much u put into account . But it is a credit builder account . Now I had a prompt from what I understood I could get an additional advance for 7.99 I did it now it wants me to add money . Come on now !! Where is the love ! I pay my bills I’m a single mother , with breast cancer trying to make ends meet . And I shouldn’t be judged on where my money is spent ! I just want a little help . I have no credit to be judged by so it’s hard to get a personal loan until I build my credit and now I have built it ! So I think Cleo is a hinder not an asset to my progress

One of the worst experiences I have ever had with an app.. The app started off great and extremely useful for what I was looking for in a budgeting app. I signed up for Cleo+ and even gave them my private information for their new rollout feature to collect interest in their own savings account. I loved this app for 1-2 months and the categories and spending is great. However - I will never recommend this app to anyone purely that their customer support is non existent. I have sent over 12+ email over a *simple* issue linking the Cleo cover that they offer and absolutely no response. I then have sent in 4+ account cancelation/deletion requests over two weeks now and not received one response back. On top of that, my account has not been deleted and is still active despite my numerous deletion attempts. They also refuse to disconnect my bank and banking information. Before you ask, yes I did email support for this and big shock they have not once responded to me. If I could stop myself from ever giving my personal information to this company I would immediately. Especially considering they will not delete my account or private financial information from their app. It’s baffling to me how they have so many great reviews with a non existent customer service team. If I ignored emails at work the way they do I wouldn’t have a job anymore... and they shouldn’t either. Steer clear and do not give them any of your information.

You would expect smarter. It’s fun and informative, but it’s really not that smart. I’ll start by saying that it was a huge eye opener as it gave me my yearly spending and that hit me like a ton of bricks, download the app just for that! But, that’s it that was helpful, that 1 feature. It should know what a toy store is (especially if the store has the word “toy” in it). It needs more sub categories. It should recognize “Discover” as a credit card payment. It should let you add that Discover Card so it knows you’re paying back debt and congratulate you instead of saying you’re over your budget for the month because of it. Also, the responses are all preprogrammed and not AI so it’s just repetitive. There’s a lot it should do and I expected it to do, but it hasn’t done it yet. When you don’t use preprogrammed questions, it says it doesn’t understand you...even something as simple as how much did I spend on “a category”. I’m keeping it downloaded because it makes checking spending easier even if it’s not broken down well, but this is feedback for the support team to work on implementing .

Stealing money from account. I’ve tried to cancel my Cleo plus subscription since January 6. I’ve have screenshots of multiple conversations I’ve had with the bot and multiple emails confirming I cancelled but I woke up today to another charge for the subscription to my account. They don’t have a way to remove any of your card information from the app so they can just keep charging you. I decided to cancel the subscription in the first place due to the fact that I paid for the credit builder and added 10$ to the account and couldn’t access it due to a glitch. Every time I put my passcode in, it would say that it was wrong even after I kept resetting the password. I spoke to support and they said that they were aware of the problem and trying to fix it. It’s been weeks. That’s another 10$ stolen from me that I don’t have access to. I can’t even use the physical card I ordered because you have to activate it through the app and you have to enter your passcode to do that and the passcode is glitching. I want my $10 back from the credit builder and the 9.99 from the Cleo plus subscription.

Great motivational finance and budget manager with a sense of humor.. Cleo will praise you, roast you, play quiz games with you based on your own spending and budget. She’ll show you where your money goes the most, highlight areas for potential improvement, help you set realistic and achievable budgets while accepting your voice and feedback in the process. She can help you monitor your credit and work to improve it, and even spot you payday advances as needed and within reason. Overall their are plenty of useful features that make it an app that almost anyone and everyone could truly benefit from. Try it and if it’s not for you, you can go back to stuffing your money in your mattress, or continue believing that your big bank has your interests (or lack of interest, pun intended) as their priority. Truly one of the more valuable apps you should have in your app arsenal.

BEWARE OF APPS LIKE THIS. Beware of scammers out there. This app is one of them. After I repaid them back what I owed. I deleted this app. But yet this app continues charging my bank account. I haven’t been on this app for awhile. After I deleted it from my phone. I got another phone and I never downloaded it again. I don’t work to give out free money you know. If you are downloading this app. One it doesn’t have the feature for you to delete your bank account nor your debit card. Yes it gives you the feature of deleting your account. Which I will definitely do. But hopefully they won’t keep charging me. This is not the only time they charged me. After I paid fully that I deleted the app. They charged me I ignored that thinking that they wouldn’t do it again. Then now they charged me again like seriously. WARNING!!! Just remember if you download this app and link your bank. They can see how much you have in your accounts. Me knowing this I would have never downloaded this app. I can give you a tip on another app called Dave. After I paid them fully I deleted the app. They haven’t been charging my bank. That one I do recommend.

DON’T DOWNLOAD THIS APP. I downloaded this app because I needed a little more money they charged a 6 subscription fee & first time users they say can get 20-70 dollars I wasn’t expecting guaranteed to get 70 but u can imagine how mess’d up they had me when they only offer’d me $20 after I already paid for the $6 subscription, they have it set up to where u haft to pay for the subscription before they determine how much they’ll give u BIG TIME SCAM they could’ve determined my eligibility before I paid for the subscription since they only gave 20 technically I only got 14 cuz of the 6 dollar subscription fee so corny cuz I would never have paid 6 dollars to only get 14 n return, but they take the subscription fee first cuz they know that’s the easiest way to scam people cuz they know if we on this app that we need money, say if 6 million people paid for they subscription fee that means they maid 36 million only from subscription fee & if that ain’t bad enough they even got the 15 dollar subscription fee to so once again if 6 million people paid for the 15 dollar subscription fee they made 90 million only from subscription fees this app is a scam folks & is to be avoided at all cost they don’t really care about helping people only about scamming them, I had to come on here to write this n hopes of helping y’all out if u considered downloading it trust me it’s not worth it & definitely is a low blow on their end!!

Small but mighty. If you’re looking for an app to help you budget, it’s Cleo. If you’re looking to consolidate your info so you can see everything in one screen, ask Cleo. If you need help saving for anything, ask Cleo. Cleo may not have the most creative responses yet, and you’ll have to learn some key words and phrases to get the correct answers, but as a work in progress, Cleo really is amazing. She does almost everything I need her to do, and the things I’ve suggested have been noted by the team. I’ve contacted support many times and get feedback soon after. The team behind Cleo is always looking to see what they can do better and how they can help more, while also making Cleo’s overall atmosphere relaxed and as stress-free as finances can be. I especially enjoy Cleo’s different modes, such as Hype and Roast. The Facebook group is friendly and any questions you post there will always be answered. The app’s layout is easy to understand and has very few glitches, and when something does happen, it’s fixed soon after. I would 100% recommend Cleo to anyone who needs help managing their finances.

If you are serious about wanting to save money but need a little truth to how you spend it, than this is the app for you! They literally break down every single thing down for you! You connect your bank and it automatically tells you what you’ve spent money on and total amount in a certain time frame, they have fun “games” that hit you with the stuff you waste money on and then do you regret it or are you ok with it AND THE BEST part is they automatically create a ALLOWED SPENDING option that calculates the money you currently have in your bank and your income, then how much your bills are and breaks down every category (entertainment, bills, eating out, gas etc) and how much you can spend that week on those things so you don’t have to guess how much you can spend on stuff; it calculates it all for you! This is a MUST HAVE app!!! I’m so happy I found this and the last person to write a review on an app but this needs to be heard and seen because it’s life changing!!

The financial Assistant for the new age. I never write review, I mean you could look at my Apple account... not a single on there. It’s not because I don’t have the time, or I don’t want to because I think a lot of apps here are great but every once in a great while you stumble across the holy grail of applications where it’s either the top of its class or in a class all of its own well ladies and gentlemen this app is both of those things. I first met Celo when he was bound to the constraints of Facebook messenger, he was an infant at this point the brainchild of some developers hoping it was there claim time fame. Well Celo had a Glow up guys and gals, he’s got his own app now, and man did he go from zero to hero in a heartbeat. Not only will he... Keep track of your expenses Alert you when something’s not quite right Send you daily reminders that are practical and funny Manage everything about your banking without the white noise from other apps And makes baking fun!!! If you took the best parts of the mobile apps from Chase, Wells Fargo, Citibank, Bank of America, and Discover and put them into a single app and added a heaping tablespoon of other useful stuff you have Celo. Bottom line guys Celos not a banking app, he doesn’t coming with a checking account but he does have a nifty savings plan! He’s a fully automated, streamlined, useful, funny, and easy way to understand financial matters! Do yourself a favor and press that little blue button!

Bank disconnected for over a month and customer service just goes in circles.. This is beyond frustrating. I’ve used this app for years as a Cleo Plus member. It’s worked fine until I opened the app and my bank was disconnected. I tried to reconnect and it wouldn’t work. I put in a ticket for customer service which begins a month long of back and forth emails where they just go in circles and never fix my account. Multiple customer service agents reply to the thread and they ask the same questions over and over and still my account is not working. I can’t find a number to call Cleo directly. As a last resort I am asking to speak to someone on the phone through the customer service emails. If that isn’t possible, I’ll unsubscribe and find a similar app. Absolutely unacceptable, the level of incompetence from their customer service and I have every email to prove it. Companies need to a have a telephone number for customer service. Especially for your paying subscribers. Today is the last day Im trying so I’ll probably end up deleting this app.

Love Cleo!. Cleo is super great for learning how to take control of your finances and learn how to maneuver credit! It has helped me track my spending across all my accounts. I can see where every dollar goes and when, then review it at a later time! If I don’t understand, cleos staff via email, are super nice and understanding. Not to mention the chatbot gives you great insights and will tell you the truth straight up! When Im running low on funds, I can also get a small advance when needed as well! That’s always great! My favorite feature about this App is the Cleo credit builder card! I fund it with direct deposit and I normally can add my paycheck to the balance 2-4 days early depending on my payroll being submitted! I pay my bills with the balance and it appears as a positive mark on my credit report. If you use Cleo correctly, it can be a handy tool to get your finances on track!! Thanks Cleo!!!

Entertaining AND an easy to understand budgeting/finance app.. I was a little skeptical about this app at first, but after exploring it a bit and delving into a few of the many resources, insights, and budgeting options I’m set on using this app to its full potential. This App breaks down EVERYTHING from your spending habits, the products you buy, the stores you frequent and uses a chat like feature to constantly keep your budget goals in the forefront of your mind so you are able to physically see acknowledge your negative spending habits, making it easier to break those habits and integrate positive spending habits in your daily routine. It’s like that friend who will text you to hold you accountable to the changes you’re trying to make. The way Cleo speaks in the chat feature is as if I was talking to one of my actual friends so it creates a stress free environment to manage your finances, because we all know money stresses us out sometimes. I haven’t full dived down the rabbit hole with this app but I really recommend trying it for yourself. I have a good feeling about this one!

Bugs and Subscription Scams!. The app is only useful if you have the same payment method forever. Change banks, card expires and gets replaced, literally anything? Oh, it’s a “bug”! Can’t add or update payment methods! And that credit card they offer is a scam. Another “bug” in their system sends it to you with the wrong name on it, or never sends it at all, or won’t let you deposit the money but it’ll keep harassing you to do it anyway, and all those payment methods you “couldn’t add”? Oh, they have access to them now even though you can’t use them in the app! They’ll take that subscription payment from one of the other no matter how many times you reach out to their “customer service” about not being able to use the services! AVOID THIS APP! It was cool when it was young. It’s become something else entirely over the years! Even the free services, like tracking your spending, etc, have become so buggy that it’s useless now. It just gets your bills confused and asks what your rent payment was for every single month, chastises you for buying gas to go to work while it praises you for buying alcohol, etc. And the only way to win anything is to post your personal spending on social media! Useless…

Could be better….. I’ve used this app for over a year and it was nice to have the change rounded up and saved. However, with apps like Acorn who invests that for you, there really isn’t a point anymore for this feature. This was mainly the reason why I wanted this app to begin with. Now the app itself is okay to run, it’s not so bad. What makes this 2 star worthy isn’t the app itself but the lack of options. Yea it’s funny to have an app roast your spending habits, sure, but it feels like the app keeps your savings in prison or something. You have to wait “3 business days” which I’m guessing excludes Fridays and the weekends. Meaning that if you place a withdrawal on a Wednesday it claims it won’t be in your account until Tuesday!! If you are reading this and are okay with waiting that long, then this app is not so bad. It has some unique features that could be useful but were not useful for me personally. If someone would have told me that their business days are Monday- Thursday I would be less harsh but it’s frustrating when the money is needed and you have to wait almost a week to get it!!! Not to mention it was supposed to be in my account already but somehow was canceled. It’s frustrating to say the very least. If they were to add an instant payout method then that feature alone would easily make my rating 4 stars. Since that isn’t an option and some glitchy stuff happened with my transfer, they will be getting 2 stars from me.

Is Not an Honest App. Beware. Cleo does NOT seem like an honest app. I only downloaded as there were some reviews that seemed positive. However, I quickly tried to cancel but it is not easy to do and you cannot erase your banking information or debit card number. There info seems very misleading. They make it seem like you can receive a loan of up to $100. However that is not the case for everyone. The part that seems like a scam is that they will charge you $5.99 BEFORE they tell you how much they are willing to loan you. They should allow people to make the decision that is right for them and proceed if they want. Instead they create a hardship for people by then having to go through the hassle of canceling. I was only offered $30 max and so I would never have signed up and paid the $5.99 had I known that. To me, this is a scam move. Let people know how much you are offering BEFORE having them pay your $5.99 fee. It’s not ethical that that is their business plan. Also they have no customer service. And I could not easily find a contact phone for them on Google. When I tried to ask the chat line to speak with customer service they were not responsive. There are other apps to choose from. I recommend avoiding CLEO.

Rude customer support and rip off. I was charged during the sign up process for the second tier level of service after free. Once the charge had been processed I was told i was already on file. When I attempted to use the service it told me I needed to pay yet again. I have provided screenshots bank documents and proof of the transaction yet the sight refuses to give me credit or refund the charge. I was sent messages from support with emojis laughing and sarcastic comments in regards to my inquiry into the situation and the app has been less than helpful or professional in the handling of this situation. My bank cancelled my card to prevent further charges and now the app is claiming they can’t find any record of the transaction even with screenshots from the app itself and bank statements bc they don’t have the expiration date for the card used. They have the last four digits of the card as well as dates and times of the transaction yet that still isn’t enough to be given credit for the purchase or to have it returned. It is a complete scam and rip off!

Great. Amazing. Spectacular. I love the casual approach to financial responsibility and the use of plain language to help breakdown concepts and often confusing wording found in other banking apps and budget apps. Cleo is fun, helpful, and makes your terrible financial situation a tad more palatable, while simultaneously managing to roast you and bring you back on track.

Half cooked without support in Canada. It is available in Canada from a long time. I can even connect Canadian banks but there are some issues and support denied on the ground that it is only available in US. Weird practices.

Counting spending twice?. Seems pretty cool but they should have an option like Mint does so that it ignores certain accounts. Cleo seems to be counting my spending twice because it says I’m spending money on “money transfers” and groceries, food, etc. But my money transfers are to pay off my credit card which is what I used to buy said groceries, food etc :p. So it tells me I’m spending around $1000 when I’m actually only spending $500.

New updates gives the boot to Canadians. I used to love this app.. participated in all the surveys, gave good reviews, and was excited to see where it would go but this new update erased my previous data and when I tried to set up a new account because I hadn’t before it didn’t even give me the option to connect to my Canadian bank like I could before. So many bugs. This app was fun but after about a week I had so many bugs, including three of each category on my budget each with a different number, not being able to see what was in each week and CONSTANTLY having to reconnect two banks which meant I had to delete duplicate entries every time. More hassle than it’s worth. Customer support was condescending and never fixed my bugs.

Great but.... I am Canadian and was able to create a CLEO account for free. The budget is easy to follow, you can categorize your spending, set your bills for specific dates, it’s all super easy to use. I love being roasted, and I love when CLEO hypes me up as well. The only thing i’m unable to do is create a CLEO wallet because you can only put in a USA address. Mediocre. I really like the app when it wants to work, half the time it spends over an hour loading and then when i finally get into the app it’s disconnected all my cards. Which then takes over a day to reconnect before disconnecting again immediately

Terrible customer service. I loved this app when I first downloaded it, it worked great. However, one day it just stopped syncing to my bank account and I was unable to fix it. I contacted customer service, and they promised to fix my problem but never did. I tried to contact them another time and got ignored. I’m really disappointed because I enjoyed using this app but now it’s impossible.

Poor bank account sync. I’m Canadian, this disconnected from my account after hours and wouldn’t sync properly. Pretty useless of an app if you have to go through the bank authentication process daily and not even get an up to date budget. I tried to see if it would get better over 3 weeks. Was a complete waste of time.

Intrigued. Keeps me intrigued while I start to learn about my own personal finances, and teaching me new tools to be successful in handling them in the future.

If you get 4 out of 4 it says that it can’t connect and it doesn’t put you into the draw. It’s happened to me three times already. But when you lose there isn’t any problems. Awesome idea, slightly unfair.... I really love the idea behind this app. As someone who is just entering the working world, I want to develop good financial habits sooner rather than later. I love how the app can praise or roast you about your habits, but when I tell it roast me, sometimes it can use information incorrectly/unfairly... 1. I currently pay rent using Venmo, but I feel like Cleo thinks I’m just shelling out money on random bs each month - it’d be great it could recognize there recurring purchase as a necessity and therefore exclude that from its analysis on my spending 2. I recently bought a car in cash and Cleo also yelled at me about that, even though financially it makes more sense to do so if you have the means (less additional recurring payments). But I think Cleo sees it as a frivolous purchase! It’d be nice if I could somehow convince the app to look past certain expenditures by marking them as truly necessary. 3. Money spent on public transportation fare is used against you, even if, say, you are using it for commuting purposes I feel like the app needs a way to filter out necessary expenses from its analysis of your spending habits and focus more on the money spent on things that aren’t necessary (entertainment, Starbucks, etc). Overall, I love the app, but would love to see it get even better!

Best spending app I’ve found. I’ve tried a few budgeting/finance tracking apps, and none of them have really worked for me. But this one is great! The tracking it does is phenomenal, it shows you every little detail down to the Vendor and it’s really easy to set a budget and save money. The features are fantastic, but Cleo is actually known more for its personality, which is also great! I love that there's an option for Hype Me or Roast Me, because sometimes you need a different kind of spiel and she’s got it all. I really love this app. I think I’ll be using it for a long time. P.S. The gifs are just the icing on top of the cake. They did a really good job with this app.

Maybe I just budget differently than Cleo does.... I’ve really tried with Cleo. Twice, actually. But the app just doesn’t seem to speak the same financial language I do. I use Simple banking and their app is already set up for envelope budgeting. So once I separate out each paycheck, I budget based on what’s leftover. But Cleo only sees my total amount, not the leftover amount, which is what I actually need her help with. Even when I try to plug my bills into her, she still doesn’t get any of the numbers right and it’s all just more trouble than it’s worth. Not to mention the app being totally unintuitive. I might try again it’s ever tweaked so I have a bit more control over the budget and what transactions are handled than Cleo does (meaning, I handle all of the numbers myself and Cleo just records and informs me of transaction types of my choosing and then does the math to adjust the spending budget - more like an assistant). But since that doesn’t seem to be an option right now and Cleo doesn’t play nice with other budgeting tools, I’m giving up...again.

Love this app! difficult to report bugs. Love Cleo! This is one of my top budgeting apps. I have other ones I use but this one is my day to day and I love the fact I can stay better in touch with my spending through the games. However, I found a bug— the “budget” section of my app isn’t bringing over my transactions, and consistently reports categories as $0 even though I know I can see transactions in my account summary. The Cleo assistant keeps me updated on the running total, but I can’t see my budget broken down by categories. I actually noticed this a few months ago and tried to look into reporting the problem to the team. Oddly, I couldn’t find a way to report problems in-app. I assumed it would resolve on it’s own but it hasn’t yet. What’s going on? I’ll update this review to 5 stars once this problem gets addressed but in the meantime, this app isn’t really serving its full purpose for me.

Just to leave a review. They shouldn’t even get that 1 start but had to leave a review… I had a terrible experience with the app and biggest issue was customer service/ agents.. the last person I spoke too was Margo, had terrible attitude my frustration level with the app and with how they handled the situation all together was disappointing. They didn’t try to find a solution instead shrugged there shoulders and stated ( and I qoute) “ it is out of our hands”. Had to fight with my bank to put a stop to them trying to pull any more money for the subscription or any money at all since they refused to delete it when asked and also refused to delete my bank info. Finally deleted the account so hopefully it worked. But after reading some reviews I definitely would of saved myself a lot of trouble if I had just read them before using the app. Sounds like this a recurring problem

Cash Advance. Everything is going great except for the cash advance situation. I’m not understanding why I am not able to get one. I make more than enough money and I pay back anything that is owed when I get my check. I don’t go through near as much with Branch and Albert. They always help me no questions asked and they always get paid back so my credit limit with them is higher than most people. So maybe you could just let up in whatever it is that’s holding me back, first it said because I had a duplicate account so I got that taken care of thinking that it would then give me the advance. Then low and behold I now have 3 other things that popped up. Where were they the first time around, I’m starting to think it’s a sham.

They want you to take surveys for points toward a boost, so basically you're spending hours trying for points that are not guaranteed for 10 bucks. The fees are ridiculous. 11 dollars plus an optional tip for a sixty dollar boost. Most of the things you sign up for are scam websites fishing for emails to send spam to. This is definitely one of the worst cash advance type deals out there. It barely works, it's not worth the time, the support is awful, it's just trash and I'm surprised it's still around. Watch your butts too because you may notice missing things, just a heads up. 2 stars because, hey, I got 10 bucks when I needed it. Only cost me 3 dollars which is a 300 percent APR. literally worse than a payday loan on paper.

Funny not Charming. Been using cleo since November (22), It’ll talk smack to you and other types of things. Took out an advance with them and i frequently lock my card, as if anyone else who’s using any app like this would; Takes the repayment for the advancement. Then continues to tell me i have an error that it hasn’t been paid, goto their support? You’ve gotta asked the AI, get directed to a website, cycle through to find out where you’ve gotta message “replies usually take hours” what the website said, hours instead of immediately when it comes to a place having your bank identity ? I get an email, telling me wait 24-72 hours. Waited and still had an error saying i haven’t paid. Unsubscribed and moved on, but the fact of the matter, use cashapp, go negative in your bank, don’t allow apps like this to eat off of you

🤷🏻‍♀️. Similar to what other reviewers have to say, the concept of Cleo is great and it really does open your eyes to your spending habits. I do appreciate the additional features such as daily cash back and cleo cover (if you choose to pay for cleo plus). What I don’t love is how poorly the app has been functioning for the last 6 weeks. I have repeatedly contacted support and receive no response. The most recent response I did finally receive did not resolve my issue so here I am today, with the same unresolved problem. I would love to just delete the app but unfortunately there are funds sitting in my wallet that I cannot transfer out. Somehow funds are able to be transferred from my account and into my cleo wallet but when I attempt to withdraw said funds I get an error message. The app doesn’t seem to have any issues charging for my plus subscription either, how interesting?! 🤔 Hoping bringing attention through this review can help me finally get this sorted so I can wash my hands of this app.

Tried them all.. Used Mint, Albert, digit, and this tops them all. Tons of great options- like being able to “fine” myself a certain $$ amount when I eat fast food? Then that goes into savings. I don’t use round up feature since my bank has it, but love the budgeting aspect and it telling me how much has been spent in what category etc. Also, if you’re in a pinch they will spot you, my first time I received $45 instantly and only pay back $48 I believe. BUT, to get this feature you do have to pay the $5.99 which is a one time. You don’t pay that if you’re looking for just a budgeting app and savings app. Only for the loan & credit features.

Don’t use this app!. If I could give no stars, I would. I had been using the app for advances with no issues for a couple months until I attempted to sign up for their Credit Builder card and when I decided I didn’t want to go through with it moments after they had already taken my money, the app would not give me any options for a refund. I tried countless times. After so much back and forth with their customer service and them refusing to refund me after I was charged again for a service I never used, I am done. It’s really sad that they prey on people who are already struggling. Stay away at all costs. They barely even help as they only gave me up to $40 to advance when I had been using the app and paying on time for months. Just skip this one. Use Empower, Klover, etc. There are much better advance apps out there that won’t rob you like these guys.

Payment methods. Literally….chill app and all but what’s up with not letting me select a day for pay back? They choose for. You guys take out my money whenever and it’s low key disrespectful to not have control over the “Repayment back date”. Like…..Cleo even takes a long time to update my balance on the app. Anywho after taking my money whenever they see fit, PROMISE you they WILL take money from your bank account if your CARD FAILS. Just Fair warning they will not mention it to you or anything so please be mindful that THEIR not mindful of your available income throughout the month. Only mindful that you owe them and need to pay them back “Immediately”. Do your thang obviously your choice loves yet just wanted to chime in a real experience. Go Download “Klover” 10x better & $100 Advances offered instantly! You even gain points for discounted advance transfer fees.

They don’t care about anything. I signed up months ago. Happy to build my credit and get some money back in the process. I can’t get any money because 1. My bank according to them was disconnected and it keeps getting disconnected. But it has no problem taking money out. 2. It said i was eligible for 250. I sign up and I see I can’t get anything. So that was a waste of time and money. I try and stay to build my credit. IT DOESNT EVEN HELP YOU. I tried to cancel and it just took another payment from a bank that was disconnected. I went through the process and they wanted a reason why. I can write if I want. It won’t let me go next to cancel it wants me to select but don’t give me options to pick from. This app is a joke. I tried to contact them and nothing. And it’s still charging me. They said they would get back to me in a few hours and still nothing. Don’t waste your time or money on this.

Good App. I really want to like this app. One major thing that I noticed is, it’s not updating my linked checking account as it should. It’s been about 6-7 days since I linked my account and it’s still showing an old balance. This app is supposed to keep up with my spending to roast and encourage me to do better, but how can it do that if it can’t keep my balance updated. I signed up for the secured credit card like 7 days ago and still haven’t received my physical card. I’m not really mad about that I know it could take up to 14 days to receive a new card. Once I receive my card we’ll see how things work out with the credit card. Other then that, overall it’s been an good experience!

Major fixes needed. The only issue I have is in the app it’s hard to navigate to human help without having to talk to the robot which is annoying. Also, alot of the human help don’t really seem to know much about anything on the app. They’re kind of clueless. For example, today is the 27th of October. The statement on the app that shows all the transactions on the Cleo card hasn’t updated since October 1st. I made a bunch of transactions and have received some refunds since then, but NONE of those are showing up on the app!!!!!!!!!!! Absolutely ridiculous. Edit; so I have to delete and re download the app everytime I want my statement to refresh!! Sometimes it just doesn’t update. You need to fix that asap.

It’s not a scam it’s a pretty decent app. This app is actually pretty decent helps me budget. It helps me save it shows me what I spend on the most things that I spend on. However, I try to repay them back in for some odd reason my bank won’t support it I don’t know why I’ve tried contacting someone to talk to and they’ve even tried to process a payment and it still didn’t work so I’m wondering why my bank doesn’t support the repayment but allowed you guys to loan me the money doesn’t make sense, but please reach out to me so we can figure out what’s going wrong. This app is really great.

Love it but kinda sad. Okay so I have a bank that is like an only in the area kinda bank. Like it’s not very popular or big, idk why I let my mom talk me into banking with them but I did, anyways you guys don’t have it it’s Desert Communities Federal Credit Union, there’s similar ones but not the one I need, but my bank is merging with another called Arrowhead credit union and I believe that was in the search for banks. So I kinda have a question and hopefully it’ll get answered, my bank is doing the merge August 1, will my setup work then? Someone let me know. And I suggest before getting all excited about a really cool financial app like this you think about if your banked with a nation wide bank or if your bank is more local in your area because they might not have it.

Bank disconnects and makes you pay for subscription then crashes. First of all, it took me multiple attempts to get into the app after I connected the bank multiple times. I kept just waiting for Minutes and then I’m exing out so I’m not even sure how I even got it up this time. When I did get it up, it said I was approved for the advance, but that I needed to pay the subscription first. I paid for the subscription and then when I got to the part where I actually could get it, it was only a $20 advance, and then it kept crashing again, anyway saying to manage my account. it says that a live human won’t be available for a few hours so I hope I can even get a hold of someone to get a refund because I will be asking for that and disconnecting my account as soon as that’s resolved.

Redundant issues. App has been fine, until you try and update your payment information, then it goes into dumb mode. I’ve been trying to update my payment information for a minute and the app keeps telling me, my address does not match to my debit card. When I’m fact it does. It brings up the address my card is attached to and then tells me it does not match?! 🤨is this the Army? I thought that redundant stuff only happened there. I guess not. At this point it’s really annoying, because all I want to do is pay my advance and move on. I received a new debit card, but it keeps telling me the same thing. I’ve deleted the app and reinstalled and it still does the same thing. I don’t want to have to owe anything, so please fix this very simple issue. Thank you.

Fast payout...horrible CS. This app was good for getting fast cash when I ran into a bad month and needed a little cash. I’ve been using it for a few months and it was good in the beginning. However, the app/system is starting to have issues to the point where it won’t let me pay my advance back. Nothing is wrong with my checking account or debit card. Have tried contacting customer service for over a week now and nobody has responded—which has been an ongoing issue I’ve seen. Other users have reported the same lack of response from the team and it’s true. Also, trying to update any account or personal information is a joke. I think I may close my account once I’m finally able to pay back my cash advance. Consider Dave or Brigit if you’re looking for an app to help you avoid overdraft fees.

-37 points off my credit score, terrible app, card always declined. i signed up for builder and my credit score did go up, but tell me why out of the 9 times i tried to use my card it was declined? i had 400 dollars on it i could never access until they transferred it back when i cancelled, they never could charge me for my monthly fee, i kept getting decline notices until i had to refresh my app. i was never offered over a 60 dollar advance but i wasn’t there for the advances, just the financial help which didn’t exist and the budget notices were delayed by weeks. i tried for three months to love this app, i’m really sad to be closing my account today. eta dear developer, if you want to help refund the last payment for builder that you charged me after i had already cancelled my service :) ETA 3 my trans credit score just got hit for 37 points, i’m going to have to despite that for fraud all because your app was unusable?? how do you scammers sleep at night?

Garbage. Would give zero stars if I could.. The worst! This app is the absolute worst. Having an issue? Don’t plan on getting to talk to an actual person to help you solve your issues. They promise you money and extra money to pay 1499 to sign up for a “credit builder card” and then make you jump through hoops to actually set it up. They request that you add an extra $30 to the card in order to get the extra money. And then once that’s all done suddenly all advertisement about the extra $30 goes away and you never see it. And when you try to ask about it you get a little robot that doesn’t know what you’re talking about and answers the same thing to every question. Definitely a scam. Definitely do not recommend there’s a there are definitely better options out there that are more user-friendly and helpful. It has been a nightmare just trying to cancel my subscription so I don’t get charged Mann play for this joke of an app.

Don’t use Cleo. As an app it terrible. It doesn’t accurately take in data to separate your bills and is a headache to get set up correctly. As a paid service it’s also terrible. I pad for it for months while I tried to get it set up and working correctly and finally canceled it. But kept getting charged. Went back and tried to cancel again that was in October. I got charged again here in April. So I went back and looked. I’ve been getting charged all this time still. I cancelled it in the app and the App Store subscriptions. Now they are telling me I didn’t do it correctly when I did what they told me to. I wasn’t even going to write a bad review for it not working for me I was willing to chalk it up as user error. But after seeing the way they handle their customer service I can now say it’s definitely the app and it’s devs. Save yourself some time and money and stay away form these guys. 0 stars

Love Cleo!. New to Cleo but so far it’s a great app! Clea keeps banking fun and lighthearted… okay more like funny because Cleo cracks me up. Seriously, I want to budget, save, and adult now because I’m actually interested in it, how much I spend vs how much I earn. And getting roasted or hyped is an added bonus. Truthfully I was originally in it for the money and getting a loan before payday, but I honestly forgot about it because I find myself caught up in how my account looks and how my goals are coming along. I avoid adulting like the plague but thanks to Cleo I feel like I might one day move out of my mom’s place and into a friends. I get why they say the first 40 years are the hardest… 41 is looking good!

Helps with my basic day to day budgeting. I love Cleo. It helps me analyze my budgets and see things that I might be missing. (It actually caught subscription service that I had no idea I was paying for!) Although I recently came back to it and I am a little disappointed with the savings aspect of Cleo. I want to be able to reflect my savings so I can have a more well rounded view of my finances but I can’t because Cleo wants me to subscribe and pay a fee which seems a bit redundant for a budgeting app. I’m trying to get my life together and work on my spending and having to subscribe to help my savings is not the way. I will continue however, to use the free services

USELESS SCAM!!. I wouldn’t have even give it 1 star but had to in order to post my review. Everything they tell you this app will do is not true once you pay your money. It all looks great until they get your payment and then nothing. One minute your info might be there and the next it’s not. Won’t detect half my income and won’t let me manually correct it either. Yesterday after first signing up I was eligible for a $20 pay advance which I didn’t take and now today I’m not eligible for anything. It says here’s the reasons your not eligible and up pops a blank screen. It said I could get $100 advance to get me to sign up but it wasn’t true. Customer service still hasn’t responded to me but it tells you that they don’t have the ability to adjust the limits anyway. It’s supposed to be all AI (artificial intelligence). Well I guess it is but it has to be the DUMBEST AI I’ve ever dealt with. Give me my money back you ripped me off!!!

Want you to purchase a subscription before advance. My husband tried this app and it wants you to purchase first a subscription before even seeing how much your eligible for first of all and second if you don’t have money for the subscription which is probably why anyone would even use a borrowing app to begin with because they need money it won’t let you borrow anything I think they should atleast let you see how much your eligible for and then if you decide to take the advance they should take the subscription if you don’t have money at the beginning of trying to get an advance with the app from your advance you are eligible for for the subscription not the other way around purchase the subscription then we will let you see how much you are eligible for and will let you take it. Earnings moneylion albert etc are way better apps then this atleast they know why someone would be using it and give you the advance ahead of time.

Cleo seemed intriguing from the very beginning once i saw the ad on FaceBook & i immediately decided to download the program and try it out; as a younger person, it has been my goal to become more financially responsible and know the value of every expense. Cleo has offered a significant amount of thorough, detailed, organized information regarding your financial situation. She is like the best financial planner, and this is such an easy to work app & i feel like the responses are fast and it is just so great. i could not say anything negatively. She provided a disclosure of appropriate conduct with your banks that you allow and provide access , so not only your savings account, but your credit cards and an amazing experience. i will continue to work with this product and service. AMAZING. A++

STAY AWAY. If I could give negative stars I would!!! I connected my credit union to this app and it was great, helped me save $175. I was able to withdraw the amount no problem. HOWEVER... I saved $253 within the past couple months and decided I wanted to save within my own bank to avoid scams and losing my money. Well hind sight is most definitely 20/20. The app refused to give me my money back no matter how many times I tried. I went to customer service and they had me disconnect and reconnect my account numerous times. Well one of the times I stopped being able to see my credit union. I went back to THE SAME emails with customer service and he sent me to someone in the UK. They proceeded to tell me that my bank wasn’t supported and I would be able to get my money by connecting another bank account. Low and behold.... it’s connected by accounts and now I am screwed out of $253. I hate that I am not the only one going through this problem and the developers don’t even care. If you read this.... Run away from this app!!!!!!

Use Dave instead, this app is garbage. First and foremost, upfront payment for this kind of app is trash. Brigit, and empower as well as Dave allow free trials/dont require a membership. Second, they make you pay for the app and THEN you do 2FA, while this is a rare issue, my trash phone company (at&t) does not allow verification codes to be sent to my number. So I couldn’t even log into cleo AFTER i already paid for it. Third, i finally login and get qualified for an advance of 40$, yet i just continuously get an error message saying “that didn’t work”. This app is straight up trash, do not bother with it because there are MUCH better competitors such as Dave and Brigit. Edit: so i finally got my advance but that was too much of a hassle. Like I said, competition is MUCH better than this app.

I wouldn’t recommend. This app is such a headache. Been trying to get advance for 2 days now added both of my bank accounts with multiple direct deposits only to find out I’m approved for 20 dollars. What the heck imma do with 20 dollars as pricey things are nowadays. So I’m in such need right now i accept the 20 dollars they tell me funds are being deposited then I get an email pops up saying there was a problem depositing funds to your account, I look at my info and whole different card number on file when I’ve gone in entered my banking information several times updating things uninstalling reinstalling, logging out logging back in. No luck I’ve still haven’t gotten anywhere with them, try to contact customer service only to get a automated response telling me someone will contact me in 72 hours 🤦🏽‍♀️ but I need help TODAY!! some server issues; besides that OK. i love cleo but the wallet application isn’t working at all. every time i try to sign up with my pnc bank it just says the server isn’t working so i can’t get qualified for a cleo wallet. the screen wil show an option to get into a wallet system yet when you go to the bank you want (even though i alraadu connected my bank but in several places it freezes / says i haven’t? super confusing and depleting because i can’t qualify for the care act relief. hope this is just a server issue and not with cleo, but besides that it really is a good app. it really shows you how much big banks destroy your money if you have overdraft overload or confusing payments. love it but just wanna connect my wallet!

Horrible.. I really liked this app starting out because I was able to track my spending much better than trying to do it manually. I decided to try out the wallet as a better way to set aside money to save. I changed bank accounts and the account associated with the wallet is now closed. I was unaware that I couldn’t change the account without withdrawing the money first. Now I have no way of getting the money out and NO ONE will respond to my chat and I have been trying since Sept 1st. I acknowledge that it’s over the holiday weekend but it’s been two business days and it’s 2:30 CST and it’s saying ‘back tomorrow.’ All I want to do is get the money that I put into the wallet out and be done with it. The bank already said that I cannot get the funds returned to me unless I reopen my bank account which seems a little ridiculous. The customer service really needs to be fixed up when you’re dealing with people’s money. I’ll be deleting this app and never using it and NEVER recommending it once I can get this sorted out.

This has been a game changer!!!. This app is amazing! At first I saw it and thought “huh, what a cool idea.” I never thought it would actually work but here I am checking in with Cleo going over what I have spent and what I have left to spend for the week including moving some to savings. It truly works if you are honest and give real numbers. She gets smarter over time tweaking the way he/she/ responds to your habits trying to break bad ones and build on the good ones and then the smart save options are great as well. I I am actually starting to save money and haven’t been late since n a bill since I started using Cleo. See for yourself. You will be glad you did.

Garbage…. At first glance I loved Cleo. It was fun, funny, an exciting financial product to use. I signed up for the credit builder card. That’s where it all came crashing down. Once you sign up they assign you some MYSTERY amount for your deposits. I’ll go to add money one day and it will give me an error saying the deposit limit has been reached and try again another day. Like WHAT?! So then I have $ split between 2 accounts (Cleo and my main bank) and no way to combine the 2 so I can actually pay bills. Whatever you do, do NOT depend on the Credit Builder Card to pay anything important. It’s super hit or miss how much $ they’ll let you add. It’s a REALLY crappy system. It’s a big enough of an issue that it completely negates anything good Cleo had going for it. As soon as I can $0 out my account I’ll be canceling, deleting the app, and never looking back. Cleo, rule #1, NEVER MESS WITH SOMEONES MONEY.

AI too sure of itself. I like this app, but one big problem with it is I can’t see when monthly auto-pay transactions are charged. The app gives me a day they predict the charge happens, but it does not let me double check (or see how many months I’ve been paying for it, or literally anything). With Non-recurring purchases I can just type the name of the vendor into the app and they pop up in a list - it doesn’t do this for transactions the app decides are bills. I can’t even temporarily reclassify the bill as a one off (this might be a bug in my app though) and then turn it back into a bill. I could go into my bank’s app to see it of course, but part of the reason I like this app is because I have two banks and the app condenses all my purchases into one place. So having to flip between apps kinda defeats the purpose. If there is a fix or workaround please let me know. But this is super annoying

One of the worst cash advance apps. I decided over several months to try different cash apps for a blog. This is one of very few that wants your SSN, but unlike other apps that are upfront about it_ they wait until you’ve already paid a membership fee. Then they want even more info. The real problem with this app is that even after paying the membership fee, they require an additional fee to get your money instantly rather than waiting 4-6 days. Most apps either ask for a membership fee OR an instant fee & the longer wait time is usually only 2-3 days. Lastly the borrowing amount even at its max eligibility is low compared to other apps, which they also don’t tell you the amount you are eligible for until you’ve paid the membership fee. Honestly one of the worst cash advance apps out there.

Unique, Refreshing & Well Engineered. AI is here to stay! CLEO is a winner in my book; offers above adequate common market tools, such as a “savings”, credit builder backed “credit card” and affordable advances on a far more generous scale than many other competitors out there. CLEO really sets itself apart in its delivery & AI - it is fun(?!) to use for the most part and is hands down the most straight forward option out there - she don’t use jelly…or mince her words - you know what you are doing, what the services that you are signing up for are, what they do, and what they cost you, and you really do get a good road map of where your finances are at the more you use and add your info/accounts/habits to its base. Also, subscribing is a synch and crazy cheap in comparison to other offerings out there, and they are really “cool” about how they approach collection if your linked account isn’t able to process any payment scheduled with them. Like debonair levels of cool, mf’s. I highly recommend in all regard👌

Worst app ever give my my money back. Won’t close or cancel my account promised me a full refund because I canceled within 24hours and now the robot acting like it doesn’t understand it owes me money but took my $5.99 within seconds understood that very well. Cleo lied and said they reimbursed me I’ve been checking my bank account none stop and never received it it’s been a whole week when Cleo said with 2days or 48hours so I’m out of money oh and I canceled because you have to jump through so many hoops for an advance you’ll never get smh I hate it here Dave is the app I went to instead Cleo is a scam and makes their money by scamming people into there monthly and yearly subscriptions having every person who signs up pay $5.99 and will not reimburse it like a pyramid scam.. never again and they still won’t close or delete my account smh worst app ever Cleo once again you do not have permission nor do I authorize you to take money from my account if so lawyer and police authorities will pursues immediately. Don’t sign up!!! It’s a scam!! You’ve been warned!!!

Good idea, horrible execution. The ideas behind this app are great. I didn’t mind the faults until recently. If you need a salary advance, you can get that instantly. If you deposit money into Cleo wallet, instant. Should you want to pull your money out of the wallet you have to wait 4-5 days. That’s business days in reality. There is no app support. I asked for a resolution on missing money I deposited and have yet to hear back. It’s been about a week now. Read the negative reviews, because it isn’t just a problem I am having. The app is linked to my bank account but it is in no way “real time”. They guarantee they won’t overdraft you but after agreeing to an auto save payment I overdrafted days after I agreed to it, needing a salary advance afterwards. TL;DR The app is good, but unfortunately the service isn’t very timely at all unless it benefits the app. Support doesn’t respond and if you want your money back, be patient.

Cleo Review. I really love this app, because when I first started with the Cleo app I paid $5.99 for the Cleo Plus subscription. When I first started I was able to receive a lot of knowledge on where my money was sunken into the most. Then I was able to get a salary advance for $30 and then as I was earning my badges then my score point started going up and then I started being able to receive a $50, then $60 and now a $70 salary advance and I hope to be able to start receiving a $100 advance, overall the more to pay back on time the more you can receive and the great part is you only have pay $5.99/ month to receive the salary advances. Thank you so much Cleo I’m very happy with the great service I’ve received from you. I will continue using this app 🗣forever‼️🤗 . Oh yea and Cleo really helps you with budgeting. 👍🏾👍🏾 🆙

Deceptive, sneaky , liars !. This is the only place I could express what happened to me . The app has pre selected responses .you can’t email your experience in your own words , not even to the bot on the other end , no phones calls either . At approximately 9:00 pm I received a notification asking me to update the app and available to me was a $75 advance. I could use the $75 so I agreed to pay the membership fee which was $5.99 or $6.99 and allowed the payment to process . Then when I went to accept the advance the amount changed from $75 to $20 . So with the membership fee I received an advance worth $13 . I’m so mad right now . This type of trickery is on the level of petty illegal street gang behavior . Unscrupulous is the kindest word I could think of ! I expect someone from this garbage app to respond to this review ! If you have a service department that allowed your members to accurately communicate this review would not have had to be viewed by others . I refuse to give this so called service the benefit of taking advantage of me with tricks and games . Correct this situation! I am the most dissatisfied customer this app will ever have ! If Cleo thinks this is the way to be successful, we’ll it may work with others , but not with me . Refund my money upon receipt of this review .

No customer service!. Do not waste your time! I just emailed them today so hopefully I do get an answer or hopefully it doesn’t take that long to get one. They pulled out $100 for their “credit builder” card that was supposed to be sent to my house which I still haven’t gotten. This might be like my 3rd time trying this cuz I’ve been low on money for a long time and I’ve seen some of these other apps work, like Dave or something. (Which I’m still skeptical of those too) and Cleo is saying I can’t get a refund for this even though I haven’t received anything?? I need my money back and I’m pretty sure it’s charged me for the subscription too and I’d love a refund on that. There’s no customer service number, at least I can’t find. The app just takes you to the bot which isn’t helpful at all. I need to talk to real person, I need my refund asap. This isn’t fair. If I have to sue for a lousy little over $100 then I guess so. Better get better customer service. I’m not happy

PLEASE DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS APP!. The loaned me $20, charge me $5.99 per month, and I guess won’t let me unsubscribe… Either way I’ve filed a dispute with my bank to block the transactions they try to push on me which will nullify any “subscription” price they get me with. In return they keep sending me text messages literally harassing me to send them $20 back which I won’t do since I HAD TO SUBSCRIBE TO EVEN SEE WHAT THEY WOULD OFFER ME. Lastly keep in mind that I work a full time job (55 hours per week) as a manager and have a credit score of 640 so i’m VERY confused why I was approved for such a little amount. Either I won’t be allowing these transactions and won’t pay back the $20 after they scammed me just as principle.

Helpful. Fun. Easy.. Cleo is very user friendly. Easy to navigate the app. Chatting with Cleo can be a very entertaining activity. The “roast me” button is super entertaining. Seeing all my bills with the amount due and due date on one page is so helpful. I’ve taken advantage of the salary advance maybe 7 times... I’m extremely grateful for this feature. It’s as simple as borrowing money from a friend. Cleo gives you feedback on your spending habits and for me it has made me so much more aware of where my money is going. I definitely recommend this app to anyone looking for a fun way to keep track of their spending, save, and to be a inspired to gain control of their finances!

Transfer never received. This is not a good app they took $5.99 from my account claiming that I was approved for a $50 advance, transfer was never made .. instead recieved a message stating “ something went wrong with transfer “ never got the advance but they debited my account for $5.99 . I’ve emailed numerous times yesterday revues an email response from Cleo support explaining to me what the fee was for???? When clearly I didn’t need an explanation what I need is my funds back in my account! This site is a rip off!! Imagine a company doing this to hundreds of people a day, taking money from consumers then not delivering what they promised! A scam!! Im calling better business bureau!!!

Worth it. Heard about Cleo from a friend. Cleo has a lot of pluses and multiple choices for budgeting. Most people are looking for the “Spot Me” feature where they can get money advanced to them from their future paycheck. This feature will cost you $5.99 to join Cleo+. If you’re always running short, then the $5.99 a month is worth it. There are no fees or interest on the loan and you can have a 1 time extension to pay it back if you happen to be short on the day it’s due. Payment can be made same day, but that also costs a few bucks. Overall...it’s a useful tool if you need a budgeting friend that will loan you money. It may initially say you aren’t eligible, but be patient. You may have to go through one budget cycle and chat with Cleo a bit before you’re eligible for Spot Me. That’s why I only gave it 4 stars rather than 5.

Cool concept, poor implementation. A bot based app which can chat with you about money, transaction, savings etc sounds like a pretty cool concept. But in reality, this bot is not ready for prime time yet. It fails to understand your commands and requests frequently and you have to chat with it over and over about the same thing to get answers. Additionally, their subscription based paid service, Cleo+, is useless. Cashback offers are at limited merchants-mostly at a dismal rate of 0.1% cashback. At that rate, you would have to spend $5990 per month just to beak even on ur monthly subscription cost. So it completely contradicts their advertised message of it helping you “save” money. Also, there’s the issue of not being able to connect multiple accounts from an issuer. Let’s say u have two Amex cards under two different logins, the app only allows for only one of them to be connected and not both. So u lose out on half of ur cashback and the budget in the app becomes inaccurate. Customer support is non-existent. They seem to read messages in a hurry and can’t understand simple queries and questions and keep telling u to re-link your account. Duh- it’s not a matter of accounts becoming unlinked but the fact that you are never even able to link all your accounts in the first place. Will be deleting this app soon.
